Hospital Lobby: Arriaga and Tomasina are worried about
Victoria. Arriaga swears that he will
personally watch Victoria’s body from now on.
He will never leave her side again.
Arriaga
Penthouse: Hung over, Disney
Princess Lilly tells her mother about getting blasted out of her mind, picking
up a stranger and almost screwing him his car.
Just the thing a mother wants to hear.
Christina tells Lilly to wait for Prince Charming. Your first time should be with someone who
loves you and you love him. Christina
fondly recounts her first time with Arriaga.
Great…just what a daughter wants to hear….stories about the first time
her parents had sex.
Hospital Lobby: Nikki asks about her mother. Tomasina says that she’s doing better. Nikki asks about Roy. Arriaga says that he hasn’t seen him. Nelson tells Arriaga to butt out. He wants to know if Arriaga stayed there all
night. Tomasina lies and says that
Arriaga just arrived. The doctor has
good news for the family. Victoria is
awake and excited to see her family.
Although, the wound is draining properly, they will keep her in
observation. Arriaga shoves pregnant women,
the elderly and sick children out of his way and frantically rushes towards his
love’s hospital room. His effort is
halted when Nelson’s calls him back. Arriaga
is simply an employee; he is not family.
Nelson orders Arriga to stay in the lobby. Guzman, tells Arriaga to calm down. Arriaga declares that he’s tired of Nelson berating
him and he’s not going to put up with it any more.
Arriagas Apartment #904: Disney Princess Lilly, swears her mother to secrecy. Please don’t Dad that I got drunk, picked up a complete stranger and almost lost my virginity in a two-seater. I will lose my job at Alandfaraway if it gets out that I’m a tramp. Christina says that she won’t tell. Arriaga doesn’t deserve to know what goes on this house. Relieved, Lilly curtsies, and then bids her mother adieu with a cheery smile, a kiss and a happy song. Small forest animals trail her down the hall.
ICU: The Ballsvanera (sans Adrianna) clan surrounds
Victoria’s bed. Anibal asks why Victoria
switched the bodyguards. Nelson says
that Arriga is very inept. Anibal
disagrees and lifts his leg chin (the raising of the leg chin
always indicates that he’s the alpha dog and he’s gotta lotta ballsvanera). He decrees that Arriaga will resume his
position as Victoria’s bodyguard. Victoria
knows that she will not be able to resist Arriaga much longer.
Kendra’s Apartment: Christina seeks relationship advice from
Kendra. Open your eyes, says Kendra. Victoria is rich, educated, cultured
and exciting. You are a poor, dull,
hayseed, who picks belly her button lint at the kitchen table. Of course he prefers her over you. Christina is distraught. Kendra tells Christina to separate from her
husband immediately. Splitting up with
Arriaga will make him pine for Christina.
He will realize what he’s lost and beg her to take him back. Kendra assures her that it will work. Trust me, she says.
ICU: Arriaga has entered Victoria’s room
unnoticed. The last thing Victoria
remembers is getting capped (shot), she says.
Arriaga asks if she remembers him confessing his undying love and that
he declared his firm intention to have hot, passionate, adulterous, animalistic
sex with her. Yes, I heard you, she
says.
Hospital Lobby: Roy tells Nikki that he almost couldn’t sleep last night
because he worried that Nikki needed him.
Roy tells Nikki that they will marry as soon as Victoria gets
better. Nikki and Roy make out in front
of Guzman, while he debates on whether on no to draw his weapon and kill
them.
ICU: Victoria tells Arriaga that she doesn’t know
what to do about their lust for one another.
Arriaga doesn’t either, so they agree to do nothing. Arriaga just wanted her to know what’s
happening in his pants (Pardon me…his heart). Arriaga demands to know if Victoria feels the
same about him. Tell me, do you feel the
same about me? Victoria reaches for
Arriaga, but images his happy family next to him. She begs him never to ask her that question
again. Saved by 5-0! They are interrupted when the fuzz and the
D.A. enter the room to question Victoria.
Arriaga leaves the room.
The cop introduces himself and explains that they’ve already
taken Zambrano and Tomasina’s statements.
Vicky recalls that she was just about to leave the house when she got a
phone call from someone who said they had kidnapped her house manager. She evaded Zambrano, who is not that obsessed
with watching her body as others who shall remain nameless. Anyways, the voice tells her not to hang
up. She remains on the phone as she
walks out the back door and sees Tomasina sitting in a car across the
street. Victoria begins to get a little
agitated and sobs. The detective shows her two
photos and asks which man shot her. She
can’t identify the culprit because his was wearing a mask. He then shows her a drawing of the man in the
car. No luck there either. Mainly, because the drawing doesn’t resemble
Espanto at all.
Kendra’s Apartment: Espanto is in deep disguise as a Rastafarian
(Yeah mon! With a beanie and waist-length dreads too!)
. No one would ever be suspicious of a
Mexican Rastaman visiting a supermodel. Kendra
hands Espanto two enormous stacks of bills.
Espanto asks about the jewels.
Kendra’s gonna keep those because the cops can trace them through the
bling. Espanto wants the shooter’s share
since he’s dead and won’t need money in hell.
Kendra shows him the front-page of the newspaper. The police seized everything. Espanto blames Kendra for frugally hiring a Walmart
hit man instead of paying a professional.
He assures her that Victoria would have been fertilizer had she paid him
what he asked. How am I supposed to take him seriously in this disguise…I mean really! Kendra agrees to pay him if he will
finish the job.
ICU: The fuzz and the D.A. continue to
interrogate Victoria. The D.A. is
recording the minutes using one finger on an IPAD, so I don’t think he’s
getting everything. Anyways, Victoria
sees Tomasina…blah, blah blah…the mask man takes the bag of money and jewels
and he shoots her. She doesn’t remember anything after that. The fuzz tells her that the shooter escaped
by motorcycle. A neighbor called in the
license plate number. There was a gun
battle and everybody’s dead except the guy who was holding Tomasina. They haven’t been able to identify him
because Espanto looks nothing like the drawing.
Victoria asks if this case is related to Nikki’s kidnapping. The fuzz isn’t ruling anything out.
Kendra’s
Apartment: Espanto says that the
hospital is swarming with cops. They won’t
be able to get near Victoria. Kendra
reluctantly agrees. Espanto will skip
town until the dust settles. Kendra
looks into the mirror and says that her pregnancy will end Nelson’s marriage or
her name isn’t Kendra Ferretti. Ummm,
Espanto reveals that Kendra’s real name is Macaria Chavez. Isn't that ironic? Her name really isn't Kendra Ferretti! Ummm nevermind...you had to be there. Kendra freaks! Nelson will never find out that my name is
really Rumplestiltskin Kendra!
Hospital Lobby: The fuzz tells the family that Victoria doesn’t
know anything. They still don’t know who’s
the master-mind, criminal, genius behind the attempted murder. Salsero freaks when the fuzz says that there
will be lie-detectors tests performed on all of the employees. Anibal takes pulls the fuzz aside and tells
him that he may know who tried to kill Victoria. Salsero tells Nelson that they
need to beef up security and install more cameras. Nelson orders Guzman to watch Nikki’s body attentively. Guzman agrees that he will watch Nikki's body harder
than ever before. The doctor comes out
and announces that after observing Victoria for all of 30 seconds, it’s been
determined that she’s well enough to be moved to a private room. Nelson tells Arriaga that he is solely in
charge of watching Victoria’s body again.
What Nelson said: Arriaga is not allowed in Victoria’s
room.
What Arriaga heard: “Blah,
blah, blah…go into the room and live out your doctor/patient fantasy with Victoria. She likes it freaky.”
Publicidad Long: Oddette is travelling to Europe to in the morning. She
wants to take advantage of Victoria’s gunshot wound and steal all of her
clients (she’s the best!) Her son thinks
it’s vile but she doesn’t care. Odette
is notified that Anibal has come to pay her a visit. He avoids Oddette’s kiss. This isn’t a social visit. He introduces the fuzz as his good friend
(aka, I’ve got him on my payroll). Oddette
invites the officer to sit down. Nelson’s
raises his leg chin and accuses Oddette of trying to kill his
daughter.
Room 503 or Room
504: Adrianna tells Victoria that she can’t lose her. Victoria and her daughter are the most
important people in the world to her. Victoria
tells Adrianna that Anibal had a third daughter with a mistress.
Publicidad Long: Oddette is furious!
You gotta Alotta Bigga Ballsvaneras coming into my office and falsely
accusing me! Anibal repeats her cruel
words to him. You said that you were
happy that my daughter was dying. You
wanted to know when we would hold the wake.
She is so awesome! Finally, the fuzz decides to act like a cop
and do some investigating. The fuzz
informs her that Anibal wants to press charges against her. Oddette challenges them to find
something. She says that Anibal must
apologize when they don’t find anything or she will sue him for
defamation. She tells them to hurry up and check whatever
they want because she’s got to get to Europe to steal Meta Imagen
customers. Time is money!
Ballsvanera Mansion
Kitchen: Disney Princess Lilly’s
Crown is crooked. She tells Polita and
Jean Marie that Victoria is out of ICU and has been moved to a private
room. Polita thanks the Virgin. Lilly says she feels bad because Lilly won’t
talk to her anymore. Polita’s still
pissed. Jean Marie tells her to give it
time. Polita will forget about it
eventually.
Meta Imagen
Receptionist Desk: Salsero reports
to Gilda and Beatriz that Victoria is out of ICU. Gilda and Beatriz call the culprits scum
buckets and unscrupulous. Salsero is
worried about what will happen when Beatriz finds out that he has dirty hands
as well.
Ballsvanera
Lawn: Jean Marie sneaks Balzac out
of the mansion for a game of chasing sticks in the park. Balzac smells his real owner and wanders over
to him. Jean Marie follows and meets his
idol, Oddette’s son.
Ballsvanera Mansion: Nikki has packed her mother’s bags and
has plans to return to the hospital.
She asks Roy to come along, but he has tennis practice. Nikki
and Roy say a lot of love BS to one another.
Meanwhile, Princess Lilly has lost her only friend, her crown is
tilted and the small forest animals have abandoned her. She resorts to talking to a plant. A plant that she has named Bartola. She tells Bartola about meeting Roy and how
she almost screwed him in his car.
Bartola knows she’s a tease.
Unless Roy's a contortionists or his father invented the game of
Twister, there was no way that she could lose her virginity in that car. Nikki and Roy move from room to room making
out around Lilly, but the three never see one another. Nikki kisses him out of the door. He will pick her up at the clinic. Conveniently, Nikki appears in the foyer once
the door closes and gives Nikki a letter for Victoria.
Paula’s Apartment: Adrianna has come to get the scoop about
her baby. Unfortunately Paula doesn’t
know anything. She informs Adrianna that
Allotta Ballsvanera sent Guzman to fire her on Guzman’s PTO day.
Outside of Room 504 or
Room 503 or Room 504 or Room 503: The
doctor assures Arriaga that Victoria is doing well, but not well enough to have
sex yet (I just threw that in). Arriaga
enters Victoria’s bedroom against Nelson’s orders.
Hospital Lobby: Whilst her husband is in Victoria’s
hospital room literally watching Victoria's body, Christina is fuming in the
lobby.
Inside of Room 504 or
Room 503 or Room 504 or Room 503: Arriaga
is performing healing touch on a sleeping Victoria when Kendra enters the room
bearing gifts. Arriaga both shocked and
appalled and appalled and shocked that he was caught performing healing touch
AND that Nelson mistress has come to pay a social visit to Nelson’s wife. Arriaga lies and says that he was just
checking to see if everything was in order.
Victoria wakes up. Kendra takes
the pillow out of the bag and shows it to Victoria. She’s brought it because she knows the
Victoria will be in bed for a while.
Kendra turns to Arriaga and tells him that she will sit with Victoria
for a while.
What she really meant to say is "committing murder is best
done without witnesses"….don’t you agree?
I'm looking forward to your recap, Cynderella. :)
ReplyDeleteIn this show every single character end up in the same hospital rooms.
I just now realized I haven't watched my recording. (we have company ....) Thanks for getting this topic started.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the recap Cynderella :)
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say on Thursday's episode Guzmancito looked really nice in a white t-shirt :)
Team Nikki/Guzmancito
What was Kendra-ho intending to do with that pillow?
ReplyDeleteCynderella,
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read your take on this epi. I am conflicted about Anyballs. I know he is bad to the bone, but he is sure protecting the Angel against that FF.
And wasn't Espanto funny in his dreadlocks and that "semi" Jamaican hat??? I was laughing so hard when I saw him in that. He is so not a Rostaman.
Roy just doesn't learn does he. Giving Guzmi orders! I am so glad Guzmi not only told him no, but hell no, especially after what happened to Ms Vikki, too funny.
Anon 12:22:
ReplyDeleteI was wondering the same thing about Kendho. It looked like a neck pillow but it was wide and big enough to do away with Ms Vikki. I am glad the Angel is right there.
I am on Team Oddette. I love her.
ReplyDeleteCynderella:
ReplyDeleteThis whole recap is priceless and I loved the way you were describing Ms Vikki and especially the Angel, lol.
I agree with you about Espanto, when I saw the dreads, I just busted out laughing and I couldn't stop.
Anyballs lifting his leg, er chin, too funny. But Anyballs is way smart, he knew exactly who instigated all of this. Not the murder but making Anyballs suffer. If they would just watch Odio they would eventually get to Kendho.
And isn't always with these TN's that people can be in the same room and never see each other, lol. I thought for sure little Orchid would see Roy and Nikki but not so much. I am sure little Orchid will run into Roy sometime.
Loved the reunion between Balzac(hee hee) and Estafano, with Jean Marie looking on, too cute.
Cynderella - Thank you for the recap!
ReplyDeleteYAY!!! Bal-zac sighting! JeanMarie<--->Estafano mutual sighting!
Oh gawd,,, Espanto in Rastafarian disguise is just so . . . awful. I might have nightmares.
My guess is that Leo the Low is due to resurface in the near future. Maybe he'll show up at Bea's in a rage (naturally) and kill Cristina during said rage. It's the only way out of this mess for her.
Cyndi --- yes, I think Kendra wants to smother Victoria with that pillow, but The Great Brain Trust of Mexico (a/k/a Kendra) did not notice it has a giant hole in the middle that will allow Vikki to breathe. Eejit.
Victoria in TX - Guzman looks good in any color shirt. And any stle shirt. Or no shirt. ;-)
Great job Cynderella, this is hilarious. Lots of funny lines...my favorite:
ReplyDelete"Christina fondly recounts her first time with Arriaga. Great…just what a daughter wants to hear….stories about the first time her parents had sex."
I'm also a huge Odette fan. She is so cute, so droll, and so huggable... sort of an attempt at an evil plushtoy... and her scenes with Aníbal are so much fun. It looks to me as though they are both struggling to maintain straight faces. I can't wait to see how she reacts to the pooch's return. Maybe Balzac (heh heh) has learned his lesson and be more respectful of her expensive shoes.
I was sooo hoping that Roxana would come face to face with Roy last night...but then...all in good time.
Carlos
No one saw Espanto or knows he was involved in the attack on Vikki. So naturally, in order to keep a LOW PROFILE, he decides to run around and visit Kendra wearing a fringed vest, a colorful beanie and long, swinging dreads! LOL
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Cynderella! :)
ReplyDelete"Christina fondly recounts her first time with Arriaga. Great…just what a daughter wants to hear….stories about the first time her parents had sex."
Exactly. This scene creeped me out. :P
Cynderella- Hilarious from beginning to end. Loved it all!
ReplyDeleteYay! Major Balzac sighting! And he's brought his two masters together.
The villains in this tn are so funny. Could not stop laughing when Espanto showed up in the 70s Rastafarian costume. And when Kendra showed up in Vicky's room with a GIANT murder pillow. QTH?! Please don't tell me JA is actually going to leave her alone in Vicky's room.
Carlos - Love the anvil avatar. :-)
ReplyDeleteDid anyone else notice that the room number kept changing (like 20 times) while Arriaga was talking to the doctor?
ReplyDeleteAlso, if Kendra is a Supermodel and Publidad and Meta are hiring her, wouldn't someone from her past have recognized a former hooker by now? Kendra should have amassed some money by now. Was Meta her first client? I don't get it.
Thanks everyone for you nice comments. I know I that I cross the line at times.
P.S. Lilly really irritates me! And she must irritate a lot of other people too. She had ONE friend and when she lost that friend, she resorted to talking to a plant. Now her only friend is a plant. That is weird and that is why she has no friends. Case solved.
ReplyDeleteLOL Cynderalla! Well, the plants are WAY better than the parade of skanks (Kendra included) and jerks Nikki calls her friends. She would be better off, and healthier (those skanks got her eating disorder going) if her only friends were plants.
ReplyDeleteCynderella - Thanks for the laughs. Some of my favorites:
ReplyDelete"Anibal... lifts his leg"
"You gotta Alotta Bigga Ballsvaneras coming in my office...
"the small forest animals have abandoned her"
My take on Cris before and now. Before she thought it was sex and deep down didn't think she and JA were over. Now she's realizing it's love and that maybe she's lost JA for good, so she's too depressed to rage.
Yay, Balzac and Estefano are reunited. But will he prefer staying with JM over Estefano? At least JM makes him wear only a bow.
Cynderella:
ReplyDeletePoor little Disney Lili has always talked to plants. She feels they grow better and that plants have feelings, she said this in the beginning of this TN, lol. So the plants have always been Lili's friends. Hey at least she can trust her plant friends and they are far better than Nikki's live friends, jus' sayin'.
Thank you so much Ms Cynderella for taking these last two Fridays for me. You have been fantabulous to do this and so enjoyed your recaps : )
Cynderella,
ReplyDeleteYou never cross the line, eva ; )
About Kendho. The only one that we thought knew about her past was Salsero, cause he rescued her from the life. She was a high class hooker involved with a dangerous dude that Salsero rescued her from. They became an item but then broke it off, cause I think Salsero realized how BSC she really is. Salsero has threatened her with exposure once before and now Espanto must have done some digging on his own and now knows who she is. I was surprised too, when they mentioned her past before, cause you'd think one of her "johns" would have recognized her or the bad dude at least. But nopis, nothing. I am wondering if she changed her "luke" so drastically she is not looking the same as she once did.
Is a teibolera a hooker? I thought that's what they called strippers. I thought Salsero rescued her from the life of being a teibolera, not from some dangerous dude. Of course, I could be wrong.
ReplyDeleteAnon 9:50:
ReplyDeleteI looked up the word teibolera on both Spanish dictionary online and in my own Spanish dictionary and couldn't find it. The word for hooker in Spanish is:
fulana or prostituta
Teibolera is really only used in Mexico and cames from the English-- table dancer. It describes a table dancer, pole dancer, and/or stripper.
ReplyDeleteVivi:
ReplyDeleteThanks for the translation. I still think that Salsero rescued her from the life, I just know that is what he said in the beginning of this TN.
She definitely could have been doing both. In fact in tns, they always seem to depict the strippers as also being prostitutes, or close to it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Cynderella For the recap,
ReplyDeletevery funny all the way. Some funny lines---Kendra's real name is Macaria Chavez---A Walmart hit man instead of a professional.
Yes the pillow is meant for murder, not comfort.
I do disagree with you about Little
Orchard though. Liliana is sweeter than sweet [BRAT Nikki could take a few lessons from her] and has talked to the plants/flowers from day one.
Doris---Kendra, the Great Brain Trust of Mexico---So funny.
Roller Boy Roy just won't give up.
When is he going to crash and burn?
Will Nikki find him in the arms of another woman just before their wedding?
He's not welcome on the patio is he?
the gringo
We need a few more of those scenes we had early on when Lili used her martial arts moves to bring giantess Nikki to her knees and in tears. That's the Lili I like!
ReplyDeleteJeez Louise- Ya'll sure are going in pretty hard on my pal Nikki tonight... What's going on!?
ReplyDeleteI guess we all have our favorites and are not so favorites.
Gringo- "Will Nikki find him in the arms of another woman just before their wedding?"
I'm hoping on it like no other.
Team Nikki/Guzmancito
That was supposed to be a comma after "Jeez Louise", not a dash.
ReplyDeleteTeam Nikki/Guzmancito
Thanks Cyn. Enjoyed "Disney Princess and the little animals following her."Ratiana is really strange isn't it? But boy, can she be so violent too and maybe she got it from her true mom, Adriana(if it turns out to be proven)I really don't like it when she appears so sweet and gentle and then when verbally attacked by Nikki she then grabs Nikki's hand very violently. She can remain so sweet and just cry her heart out and then you'll feel sorry for her but I'm sorry, never liked violence of any kind.
ReplyDeleteI thought Annibal would ask Odette why she knew what happened to Vicki ahead of anybody when nobody told her except Kendho.
Oh I love Balzac/Monet. He is too cute!!!
Team Nikki/Guzmancito2
Cynderella, great recap; so funny. ITA about Lili; what was with the scene with her mother giving her a non-slap on the hand about almost having sex in a car with a stranger??? Your recap gave this story the snark it well deserves.
ReplyDeleteGuzman has given neither Lilli or Polita a serious glance ever.
Has smarmy Roy turned Lili's head?
In Polita's defense: it's just inconsistent writing. In the original Argentinian show (and in the Colombian and Azteca remakes) Guzmán slept with her. The writers of AV cut the sex but kept the jealousy scenes.
ReplyDeleteHere's the trailer of the Colombian version: youtube
ReplyDeleteThe Francisco character looked younger than BoyToyRobRoy.
(Paz and Aguirre, aka Victoria and Arriaga were soooo hot together. Ernesto Calzadilla is a bonboncito.)
I like both Lili and Nikki. But I like Lili best in the moments when she is being less sweet (yes, like when she tells off and shows up Nikki); and I like Nikki best when she is being more sweet and less of a spoiled brat.
ReplyDeleteAribeth- Thanks for the link to the trailer. Obviously, the Colombian version took itself way more seriously than this version does.
I see the Odette character is much younger-- she even looks younger than the Vicky character. Considering the Jose Angel character is much younger, I assume he doesn't have a teenage daughter. So how is the Lili character related to eveyone? Is there a Cris character? And does Adriana exist in that version.
Vivi:
ReplyDeleteArriaga/Aguirre did have a teenage daughter in every version. I tried to do the math a few times before, and I guess he and his wife (I think her name was Gabriela, not Cristina) had their child when they were 19. Which means they were 36-37 when the story started.
In the previous versions there's a 10-12 years age gap between Aguirre and Paz/Victoria. In AV this was changed because Lalo Yanez was the first actor the producer hired for the show, and it would've been impossible to find an actress who's older than him but still young enough to play Victoria. Not to mention that he can't play a 30-something guy anymore.
The Adriana character also exists in every version. The true origin of Liliana is an important part of the story. :)
I give Cris a "B" for her convo with Little Orchid. Most important, Cris didn't jump down Lili's throat, which would've made Little Orchid stop confiding sensitive stuff to her. She kept the lines of communication open. Plus, Cris' point about be patient for the right guy and warning her about sexually transmitted disease were good ones. I'd give Cris an "A" if she'd pointed out hopping into cars with strangers makes one vulnerable to psycho-killers. I guess I'm immune to the gag factor of Cris talking about her first time with JA, cause my mom did the same with me and my sister.
ReplyDeleteI like Lili and Nikki and Cris and Vickie. I miss seeing Lili and JA train together, and would love to see Lili kick a$$, but only in self-defense of course. Like maybe Roy the Boy will get out of line with her again and she has to twist that little wrist of his.
oops typo - I meant "Cris' points about being patient"
ReplyDeleteCynderella---
ReplyDeleteHahahaha!!!! I have missed your humor! Sooooo many funny lines! Loved Lili bidding her mother adieu with a curtsey and a trail of woodland animals.
Great recap from start to finish!
Katy
Lili and Cristinás talk about her near-miss in the sports-car-in-the-garage sounded more like a PSA about unprotected premarital sex. Cris even said 'you don't know what kind of STD's that guy might have?' or STTE.
ReplyDeleteBalzac would be crazy to want to leave JM. He's a superb chef and doesn't have all those dumb outfits.
Does anyone else remember from the 1970s (well, if you are that old - ack!) there was a popular idea that talking to plants was good for them; it made them happy and healthy. This could be part of Lili's success with them, even if they are her own personal private Dr. Phil.
gringo - no, Roy-ero is not welcome on the patio. He belongs in the manure pile.
"Also, if Kendra is a Supermodel and Publidad and Meta are hiring her, wouldn't someone from her past have recognized a former hooker by now?"
Good question, and one that I've pondered also. Her former clients probably don't read fashion magazines. Maybe they can't read, at all. I doubt she was a high-end hooker, more like skank ho on street corner that maybe hooked up with a drug lord?
Aribeth - Thank you for the link to the Colombian video. I recognized Mario Duarte. I wish we could get these Colombian productions on the Looneyvision networks. They always look much better and less of a caricature/cartoon than the Telerisa versions.
ReplyDeleteMy thing is it's obvious Liliana can take Nikki. I mean come on you're father knows marital arts and has taught you and continues to do so. I don't like when she gets aggressive with Nikki not because she doesn't deserve it, but only because Nikki is not a fighter obviously and couldn't defend herself probably if her life was depended on it. The only up thing Nikki has on Liliana when their arguing is her height lol, though she does have some pretty good name calling that usually gets a chuckle out of me from time to time.
ReplyDeleteTeam Nikki/Guzmancito
Most Televisa shows are circos, but they have a certain charm, we have to give them that. :) I don't know how to call it... Innocent? Naive? Precious?
ReplyDeleteThere's one problem with the previous versions: they were too long and too many things happened in them. AV may be painfully slow, but at least there's no time for the crazy plot twists the original Amor en custodia had.
Ok Aribeth, so I just watched the link for the trailer you posted of Amor en Custodia. That's the longest trailer I have ever seen lol, I can definitely believe that version is dragged out to last a long time. It did look just as interesting as AV. I think they have improved A LOT now though with the characters they have chosen for AV. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteTeam Nikki/Guzmancito
Cynderella: Thanks for the recap. I also thought it was hilarious how Cristina started oversharing with her daughter.
ReplyDeleteMy problem with the actor playing Roy is that his natural voice has a much higher pitch than the one he uses here so it's easy to tell he is faking it. He spends so much energy trying to sound more manly that he just sounds ridiculous.
About strippers being also prostitutes, it can happen. It depends on the kind of establishment. Prostitution is legal in Mexico so there are registered brothels that offer both services.
Aribeth: Thanks for the link to the trailer of the Colombian version. Their Arriaga is pretty hot!
Having only previously seen the Azteca one, I can say that what I prefer from this version is the Victoria/Arriaga story. I like the chemistry between Eduardo and Erika and I enjoy their interactions better. Arriaga here is older but he is portrayed as more impulsive and more passionate. The actress who played Paz/Vikky in the Azteca version played an older woman involved with a younger man in a previous telenovela and she had mad hot chemistry with him so I think that's why she was chosen but I don't think the same happened with the actor in their version of AV, they were just ok.
The reverse happens to me with Nikky and Guzmán. I loved Barbie/Nikky and Pacheco/Guzmán in the Azteca version (the actors became so opular that they ended up doing another telenovela and a play together because the audience loved them as a couple) but Nikky/Guzmán bore me here. As much as I love Rulli, I find their scenes such a snooze fest.
Other characters that I feel strongly about: I liked Azteca's Liliana better (though I like Sherlyn, it's just the OTT writing here that I have a problem with) but I like this Adriana better so I care more about their storyline here. I MUCH prefer Azteca's Cristina but I love Beatriz here, she was basically a non-entity in Azteca.
Jarocha
Vida2---She appears so gentle and sweet and when verbally attacked by
ReplyDeleteNikki, she grabs Nikki's hand very violenty.
Every confrontation between the two was initiated by the I'm better than everyone, the world revolves around me, spoiled princess brat Nikki. She can't even compete in a competition without cheating to come in first.
After all, you little flower girl are nothing more than trash beneath
my feet.
A little twist of the spoiled brat's hand was good for her, maybe she will think twice before she opens her brat mouth next time.
Vivi---Lili used her martial arts moves to bring down the giantess Nikki to her knees and in tears. That's the Lili I like!
YES! YES! YES! me too. The spoiled I'm better than you are brat needs to be taught a lesson and little flower girl Lili is just the one to do it. Maybe Nikki will think twice next time.
Niecie in MD---YES!!!!!! Wouldn't it be great to see sweet Little Orchid kick Roller Boy's A$$ if he stepped out of line. I would be cheering non stop for at least five
minutes if that happened.
And finally, Victoria in Texas---
I don't like it when she gets agressive with Nikki.
Well then, when the disgusting spoiled princess learns to treat others with respect and not as garbage in the street, the agressive action will stop. Lili is a super sweet young lady but also she is not going to be walked on---even by a spoiled princess brat.
I have said it before, I am not 100% anti Nikki. When she starts to mellow a little and begins treating others with a little respect instead of looking down her nose towards everyone who wasn't fed with a silver spoon, then I will move into the Nikki camp but until then-----
the gringo
Agree w/the Gringo re Nikki/Lili. Lili is violent with Nikki only when she asks for it. Sure, Lili is physical, but Nikki's tongue is just as violent - maybe even worse. Physical pain goes away, emotional does not. Over 100 episodes and Nicole has not shown an ounce of redeemable quality, in my opinion, her tears for her mother notwithstanding. She hasn't improved her disposition in dealing with Lili, Guzman (who she supposedly loves) or Polita - not a bit.
ReplyDeleteJarocha, I always look forward to you joining us here and sharing your thoughts. It's been too long since you last joined us.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit surprised that:
"...Nikky/Guzmán bore me..."
For some reason I find myself almost purring whenever they are getting along. For me there is something magical between them. Not quite the same as Coni and Beto (Gancho) or Iletia and Brandon (LldA), but very pleasant. As for Nikki, her defiant yet insecure naughtiness makes her an intriguing character.
The Vikki/Ángel thing for me is disturbing for the obvious reason, but the snails have spoken so I'm along for the ride.
Carlos
Victoria in Texas:
ReplyDeleteTake heart. There are still some people on Nikki's side with Guzmi : )
I liked Carlos' reasoning about Nikki and Guzmi. They are meant to be together, but I wish Nikki weren't so rude, and I think with time and some maturing Nikki will stop being so bratty.
About Lili, I do like the strong Lili. She has a lot of common sense, but I see a parallel with Nikki when it comes to men. Don't shoot me yet, I mean about other men besides Guzmi. Both seem to really like Roy, and look what kind of a putz he is. Jus' sayin'. So to be a bit on both sides, I think Nikki is using Roy to get back at Guzmi who she thinks is a bad hat. Lil Orchid just don't know much bout Roy. She really hasn't been around him. She is trying to be a bit adventurous cause she knows Guzmi only wants to be her friend. So I am cutting both some slack until later.
Aribeth - Thanks for the Colombian clip. Even though he's still cheating and focused on money, the Nelson character seemed more likable to me in the Amor en Custodia trailer.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recap Cynderella. I have missed your snark from your days over on AB.
ReplyDeleteAribeth - thanks for the trailer. It's fun to compare these productions.
Jarocha - thanks for sharing your take on this TN. I too have no interest in the Rulli plot as I can't tolerate Nikki (sorry Victoria) and it does pain me b/c he is so handsome. I also won't be able to enjoy Vicky and JA until he is no longer married.
Carlos---but the snails have spoken
ReplyDeleteLOL---You said it great. How can you go against the snails?
the gringo
Ay yi yi, Yall are killing me tonight... Ok too dramatic, but breaking my heart so. Probably shouldn't have read this before bed, won't get much sleep lol jk
ReplyDeleteCarlos- You said it perfectly, "For me there is something magical between them."
Madelaine- "Take heart. There are still some people on Nikki's side with Guzmi." I know, I know, but not enough in my opinion. I really can't wait for Nikki to come into her true character/true self and show everyone.
Karen- "I too have no interest in the Rulli plot as I can't tolerate Nikki." Pained me, you have to at least agree with Carlos that she adds to the novela as an "intriguing character." :/
VIVE Team Nikki/Guzmancito... UNTIL THE VERY END!
You guys are REALLY into this TN. I just don't like the Lilly character because she's a goodtwoshoes. I don't feel sorry for her when she cries. I think the actress overacts...like when she met Adrianna in the lobby and started wailing or when she ran to the graveyard. Maybe I'm heartless. That's why I love Odd-dette. Nikki gets on my nerves when she cries because she has "one look" like Zoolander.
ReplyDeleteDon't fire me. I'd like to be invited back. LOL
I like Little Orchid, but I agree with Cynderella: she's a goodtwoshoes, and I HATE her premonition/sixth sense scenes. They make me roll my eyes.
ReplyDeleteI adore Nikki, sorry. She's a brat, but she has a style, and I'm always moved by the rare moments when she shows her sweet, caring side. :) I don't mind it when Lili kicks her ass because she deserves it, though Lili's "I'm a tough country girl and I'll defend myself against a snarky 90 lbs woman" act is getting old, too.
I see the magic between Guzmi and Neta, but the writing is still poor and lousy as hell. That's my problem with them.
But Victoria, don't worry, there are many people on the internet who love them! :) They're a big deal on Facebook, the Nikki & Francisco groups have thousands of likes. They are obviously loved by the audience.
(And unfortunately, they have a bunch of annoying fans who act like people in Mexico only watch the show for Guzmi and Nikki. Nevermind that the Victoria/Arriaga episodes always get higher ratings.)
I rewatched the episode: the room number DID change often, LOL. And God, Balzac, Estefano and Jean Marie are too cute to bear, luvluvluv. :)
Now I go and watch Game of Thrones before work. I'm so fed up with this freezing spring and my headache that I need some blood, intrigue and violence.
Carlos: I think my main problem with the Nikki/Guzmán pairing comes with comparing them to their Azteca counterparts. Maybe if I hadn't seen the other version I might have liked them here.
ReplyDeleteKaren: I actually like Nikky, it's just that I can't take her seriously. I have the same problem with her that I have with Liliana, she is too over the top. Nobody speaks like that in real life, that should be left to parodies of fresas in comedic telenovelas. Eiza is fresa in real life, the director should have just told her to speak as she naturally would. I'll blame that on Garcini (the director) because I'm not his biggest fan at all.
That said, I do enjoy this novela overall. I think the slower pace (this was episode 45/46 I think in the Azteca version) helps to add complexity to the Victoria/Arriaga relationship because it has made their feelings deeper and it makes it seem like their situation is threaded more carefully, which should be the case since they are both married. I felt more for Arriaga in these episodes because the situation he is in is so complicated how he has handled so many things wrong regarding his marriage but I can't blame him for having feelings and dwell in the pain of seeing Victoria hurt.
Aribeth: I know what you mean about internet fans. The truth of the matter is that the internet in Mexico doesn't really relect that well what the overall audiences enjoy. Less than 40% people in Mexico have access to internet in their homes ( internet here is quite expensive and slow ) and the usual novela pages attract the younger audiences mostly. I'd say social networks work great to get feedback when you are doing a novela made for a younger audience but not so much when you have a mature couple.
Jarocha
Aribeth, I posted a comment for your wonderful recap.
ReplyDeleteCynderella, this was light hearted and flat out hilarious! So many of your wonderful lines have already been quoted but my favs included "Roy tells Nikki that he almost couldn’t sleep last night.." and "The doctor assures Arriaga that Victoria is doing well, but not well enough to have sex yet (I just threw that in)". Great fun - thanks so much.
Lie detector tests? Santino is in for a rough patch here. Also, when all is said and done WILL Bea forgive him when it's discovered he kidnapped Francisco's love of his life?? I'm wondering..
I hope JA puts some movement behind his words and pummels Nelson at the next opportunity.
I'm conflicted in that I am pulling for JA and Vicky although Cris' subdued demeanor is pulling on my heartstrings.
Great comments all. Glad to see your comments Karen! Missed seeing your posts.
Diana
Aribeth I have seen the Nikki Guzmancito facebook pages and have refrained from liking them due to they're created from Mexico and since they are ahead of us... I don't want it to be ruined for me.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the writing of the storyline with "Goodytwoshoes" and bratty Nikki but I adore the confidence she carries with that character even though seriously hidden she has emotional issues. Oh and I love her outfits... to die for.
It's me Victoria in Texas
Had to do it anonymous, for some reason my smartphone wont let me enter my Google acct. Weird.
Team Nikki/Guzmancito
I’m thinking Lili's going to get to show a side that's not so goody-two-shoes when/if it sinks in that she's never going to get Guzman, that her parent's marriage isn't how she thinks it is and her own patrona is a prime factor, and that Roy the Boy is engaged to Nikki. Victoria in Texas, I like the way you put it about Nikki, coming “into her true character/true self.” I’m wondering if Lili will leave her Snow White phase when all the complications ensue and come into her true self too.
ReplyDeleteVictoria:
ReplyDeleteSometimes the smartphones don't work on Blogger. Noone knows why. It isn't your phone it is google.
Cynderella,
Of course you aren't fired. You'll get a chance to recap again : )
Aribeth:
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the link, of the trailer. It was excellent. The orginal Columbian version seems to have younger actors, but I am really liking this version.
Madelaine- thanks for letting me know I was getting frustrated with it at one point. Now I'm at my laptop.
ReplyDeleteDiana- "I'm conflicted in that I am pulling for JA and Vicky although Cris' subdued demeanor is pulling on my heartstrings." I'm right there with you. It's hard for me to get caught up with Victoria/Arriaga because of Cristina. I feel so much sympathy for her ever since she turned her jealous rage into being sad/calm/depressed. It just proves she had EVERY reason to be concerned about Arriaga being Victoria's bodyguard. I can't believe I went from not being able to stand Cristina to now hoping that she as some alternative to her own happiness (how the heck did I end up here), but I doubt it because she is still in love with Arriaga.
Ok I don't know what the H E double hockey sticks is going on but me and "Caray, Caray" are not getting along today for some reason.
Team Nikki/Guzmancito
Jarocha, it's always great to see you here.
ReplyDeleteMadelaine: you're welcome!
Actually, the Colombian version isn't the original one. This is how the timeline looks like:
1. Argentina, 2005, 210 episodes
2. Mexico (the Azteca version), 2005-2006, 280 episodes
3. Colombia, 2009-2010, 251 episodes
This is the original: AEC Argentina
Dios mío, I just realized that the actress who played Lili used to play a huge brat in Kachorra, which is one of my favourite telenovelas. She was the Nikki of that show.
But nobody could make me believe that Osvaldo Laport (Aguirre-Arriaga) was younger than Soledad Silveryra (Paz-Vicky).
One more thing: the original Lili's called Tatiana. :)
And this is the Azteca version.
"But nobody could make me believe that Osvaldo Laport (Aguirre-Arriaga) was younger than Soledad Silveryra (Paz-Vicky)."
ReplyDeleteI mean ten years younger.
Ummm, Cynderella... Would you like to recap a Friday episode, too? *bats eyelashes* :)
ReplyDeleteThe newest tweet of Erika: The Sleeping Hulk
ReplyDeleteAribeth:
ReplyDeleteYou meant Thursdays right ; )
I am going to look at the links you put up.
Yep, Thursday. Thanks. :D
ReplyDeleteAribeth:
ReplyDeleteI took a look at the links you put up for other versions of this TN. I liked the Angel character in the Columbian and Argentina versions but not the Azteca one. All the Vikki's were great. I didn't like the glasses on the Vikki in the Argentina version. Too light colored. But I had to laugh at the book the Argentina Vikki was reading "Madame Bovary" lol. All the Nelson's were like this one except the one in the Columbian version, he was actually, dare I say it, "hawt". Also I can't believe I saw Lissett, who always plays really nice women on Telvisia TN's as the Kendho character in the Azteca version, oh the horror, lol.
Aribeth: Ahhh. I came to Caray for a much needed break. And lo and behold I see your "Hulk" link - Eduardo is magnificent asleep or awake. Love his socks are low revealing his excellent ankles.
ReplyDeleteHuge sigh. Thank you!
Diana
Aribeth,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link of the "Sleeping Hulk", and I am so with Diana, sigh!!!!!
Also loved the accent of the Argentina version. It is like a mix of Spanish, from Spain, the accent that is and Italian. I love to listen to it : )
Loved the "Sleeping Hulk" link. Thank you Aribeth! That made my day.
ReplyDelete:-D
You're welcome, ladies. I have tons of lovely behind the scene photos, one day I'll upload them to my photobucket.
ReplyDeleteAribeth: I know the Argentinian version was the original. I've heard that the Colombian one is very well loved though, especially the Vikky/Paz and Arriaga/Aguirre story. Here' something fun: The actor who played Pacheco in the Argentinean version played a character in the Azteca version called Mauro Mendoza.
ReplyDeleteI think the nickname Ratiana works better with Tatiana than with Liliana.
Jarocha
Jarocha: Madelaine said that the Colombian was the original, I just wanted to clarify that. :)
ReplyDeleteMy friend are huge fans of the Colombian version because of Alejandra Borrero and Ernesto Calzadilla.
Cynderella novia de VHC!! had missed your hillarious recaps!! such good times we had at the CME forum!!
ReplyDeleteBesides the popular 'just what a daughter wants to hear..' line, i loved
Arriaga just wanted her to know what’s happening in his pants (Pardon me…his heart).
but the whole recap was so enjoyable!! don't ever go away... we need your humor here.
Yes, Aribeth, I will recap Thursday for you.
