I apologize for any spelling mistakes/ long sentences... I'll get back to the recap later today to polish it.
Last week, before the long weekend break: Cesar decided to defend Fabiola’s honor by beating up
Piero and threatening to throw him into jail. Piero didn’t say anything to defend
himself, except that Cesar should talk to his sister.
Today: Fabiola
is talking with Padre Plaid at Mansion Aresti, explaining to him that Piero is
not the baby daddy, he’s just her confessor – she didn’t really make this clear
to Cesar, though.
Paloma walks in and wants to
know what is going on. Fabiola explains that she’s done something terrible and
her mother is going to kill her for it – she’s embarasada and Seb is the father.
Paloma makes a CRAP! Cara, but hugs Fabiola.
At the same time the proud
daddy to be receives a visit from his faux bro, Ric. They get into it when Ric
asks Seb if he seduced or raped Fabi. Whatever the case, if he doesn’t marry
her, he’ll end up in jail, because she’s a minor.
(Excuse me as I take a pause
to express my feelings about Ric’s hypocrisy – when he supposedly left a minor
pregnant, daddy shipped him off to school in another country and paid off the
mother-to-be, but Ric has no problem forcing marriage on Seb – YES, he’s a
creep, but because he’s a creep, they shouldn’t want Fabiola tied to him
forever.)
As Ric storms out, Antonio
comes to talk about Seb’s bright future as a president to the shady negocio he and Fauxcisco Castro are
setting up. He finds out what his maybe spawn has been up to lately. Is Antonio’s
heart filling with pride at the idea that his son is following in his footsteps
by impregnating a minor? No, he’s pissed because another scandal is the last
thing Seb needs after the whole paternity debacle.
JL tells the man he hired to
follow Ric to continue what he’s doing even if so far they haven’t had much
luck.
At the same time Ric meets
with Fermin at home and gives him instructions about how they are supposed to
trick his tail. Fermin in Disguise (wearing a cap and clothes that Ric wouldn’t
be caught dead wearing) is to take Ric’s car and drive it to the plant. He has
to stay there a while and then get out using the back exit, drive some more and
go back home. The idea is that Fermin needs to keep the tail busy enough time
for Ric to do his stuff, with a rented car.
Antonio and Seb meet with JL
(who is barbecuing his fingers again) and tell him about Seb’s situation.
Apparently, Seb is willing to get married because he’s not a coward, but he’s
not even sure if he’s the daddy. JL is too smart for this kind of crap, so he
quickly lays down the law for Seb: he’s a chamaco
estupido (stooopid little boy) who should stop lying so much; the girl is a
minor AND she’s related to a very rich and powerful woman, Paloma Aresti; so,
in order to avoid another scandal, he needs to marry her ASAP. After all, he
still has the Sanchez Breton name. After the marriage, they’ll see if he can
become president of their company. Also, starting tomorrow, he’s supposed to go
through a makeover, to become a worthy executivo.
After JL leaves, Seb pouts
some more, but Antonio shuts him up – he needs to pay for his stupidity whether
he likes it or not – and that should be Antonio’s first fatherly lesson for his
boy (one that he most definitely never learned).
JL talks to Raquel on the
phone. She wants to see him because she has something important to tell him,
but unless it’s related to Oriana, he doesn’t have the time for her now. Just
what every woman wants to hear.
Then Raquel talks with
Lucina; todays scheduled fight between the ex besties is about Lucina sharing
too much information with Manolo, who committed what crime in order to help
Oriana… the usual stuff. After she finds out that Lucina told Manolo she was
involved in the whole fake identity story, too, Raquel storms off. Ruben
catches part of the fight, but Lucina is evasive with him when he asks.
As the bags are being packed
for the vacation, Fabi is crying her bad luck. Maddy sees that something is wrong
with her and Paloma explains that she has menstrual cramps – kind of cruel considering the situation,
but Maddy buys it. She wants to know where they’re going for their vacation,
but she doesn’t get an answer or a
ride to the plant where a new meeting is to take place.
As JL’s guy is
following Fermin to the plant and all over town, the whole gang meets up in Ric’s
office to discuss Fabi’s situation.
Besides Paloma,
there are only guys present – Ric, Piero and Padre Plaid – poor Fabi, like she
didn’t have enough problems already, now she has these 35 year olds talking
about her pregnancy.
Basically the talk
goes like this: Ric thinks they should confront Seb, who denies being the
father; Paloma thinks Maddy is to blame for the situation, for suffocating Fabi
so much; this is exactly what happened with Palomita – she too, had been kept
on a very tight leash and when she broke loose, she wound up in the arms of a
leach. Fabi no longer loves Seb, Piero was willing to take responsibility,
Padre thinks she should only marry someone she loves.
Fabi wonders if
that someone will ever appear and is very afraid of her mother’s reaction.
Paloma will take
care of Maddy, as soon as their vacation is over.
The lawyer, notary,
Lila and Maddy arrive and Paloma and Ric need to leave for the meeting. On the hallway
Maddy asks one more time what is going on, but Paloma is very blunt in
rejecting any kind of snooping from Maddy’s part.
I despise Maddy as
much as everyone else, but as long as Fabiola is a minor she and Ruben need to
be informed of what is happening. I know Maddy will jump through the roof when
she finds out, but that’s no excuse for the good guys – they can better protect
Fabiola if they control the way Maddy finds out. And Ruben is easy to influence
a good guy, why isn’t he aware of what is going on?
In the office,
Padre and Piero are still talking with Fabi about her situation. She’s
considering an abortion, Padre thinks it’s a bad idea (this reminds me nobody
knows about the rape, right?). Just then Leo calls to let her know that she can
come to visit Tito whenever she likes. She can’t now, she’s taking a vacation,
but as soon as she knows where she’s going, she’ll let him know – because more
people need to know about the big hideout. Padro and Piero make inquiries about
the caller, Padre knows Leo’s grandfather apparently, he used to be in charge
of the Mexican CIA or something.
Seb shows up at the
plant, wanting to speak with Fabi – apparently he knew the company is her usual
hang out place. He goes to Ric’s office and tells Fabi that he doesn’t want to
repeat Ric’s mistake, so he bends down on one knee and says he WILL marry her
(blech!) Fabi says NO and Piero is surprised that Seb would step up like this.
Seb wonders if probably Piero fancies Fabiola, too and then threatens to tell
Maddy the truth and leaves.
Padre shrugs it
off, after all Maddy DID have to find out sooner or later, right? Yes, let the insufferable
bastardo spin the story to his liking – for being such intelligent men, these
guys can sure act like big idiots some times.
The stock meeting
is over, Maddy says thank you for the shares she already had in her usual,
snarky way and asks about the vacation again and the mystery surrounding it.
Paloma asks her to stop upsetting Fabiola, she will take good care of her.
Again Fabi’s menstrual cramps are mentioned, this time in front of Ric, Piero
and Padre, too. Why not, after all by now everyone should know about Fabi’s
fertility calendar and next OBGYN appointment.
The guys stay
behind for a while, to discuss some final arrangements. Ric tells the other two
they don’t have to hide because Fermin is helping him ditch his tail. Piero offers
to drive Fabiola and Paloma to their destination, but Jorge is driving instead
(I told you everybody knows about the big mystery house).
After Ric and the
women leave, Padre mentions how Piero must really be in love with Fabiola.
Really, what tipped you off, smart guy?
Later at church,
Piero admits his feelings, but Padre thinks Fabiola only feels affection for
him, he’s like a father figure for her, the rock she can lean on. For a
relationship to work love is needed, too.
Piero thinks that
given the time, Fabi could fall in love with him.
Padre thinks that
barely legal and pregnant Fabiola might find a better guy to get married to, someone
her age, like that Leonardo dude, who comes from a good family; Maddy might
prefer him for her daughter (yeah, like anyone ever considers what Maddy might
like).
I know Padre is
Paloma’s priest and that’s important in telenovela families and Piero really
cares and whatnot, but these two should really have no say in deciding who
Fabiola marries. The guy she just met and spoke to a couple of times might be a
good partido because he’s her age and
comes from a good family (!!!), but shouldn’t you guys speak about sports and
cars?
Piero knows the road
to Fabiola’s heart will be a long one, but he’s up for the challenge.
Back at Casa
Bonita, still oblivious to his minor daughter’s adventures and possible marriage
to several guys he doesn’t even know, Ruben is worried about the secret Lucina
and Raquel have. He tells Cesar that he heard them fight about some Oriana
person and a police guy several times.
Yeah, that’s
intriguing, Cesar kind of says, but guess what: Fabiola is embarasada and Seb
is the father.
No puede ser, Ruben
actually says. Does Maddy know? Not yet, Cesar thinks, besides Fabiola is
taking a vacation now. From the way the conversation goes and from Cesar’s
delivery of the line, you’d think the vacation is the prize for getting
pregnant.
Does Ruben storm
out to find out where his pregnant daughter left? No, I guess he’s more
interested in finding out more about Lucina’s secrets.
JL calls Raquel and
after putting up the slightest of fights, she comes over. He dangles the keys
of a car in front of her eyes and says she’ll have the vehicle if she finds out
where Oriana is hiding. Raquel is pissed because everyone is so obsessed with
Oriana, including Oriana’s husband (go figure), but JL explains that what he
cares about is his daughter.
Raquel has no clue
about anything, though and she’s sure Lucina won’t tell her, especially since
now she’s even talking with the police about the whole mess. JL informs her
that Inspector Cousin came to talk to him, too, but he’s not afraid he’ll be
discovered, because all his papers are in order and he plans to leave the
country in a few weeks anyway. As soon as he finishes his business and finds
Alina, he’ll go and take Raquel with him, too. The idea of having all kind of luxuries,
like fancy cars, jewels and clothes sounds nice, but do they have to take
Alina, too? Raquel can get pregnant if JL wants. No, nobody will ever replace
my daughter, JL sets the record straight.
And then they start
to make out.
Paloma, Fabiola and
Ric arrive at Fidelia’s Open House. She’s overjoyed to have such important
people staying in her humble mansion with a pool. As Ric and Oriana hug and
hold hands, all the other guests are introduced to one another. Fidelia seems
to like his nemesis’ daughter very much and tells Fabi she’ll be sharing a room
with Marilu.
The two girls seem close
in age and Fabi really needs a woman friend, so I guess that’s cool, but Marilu
used to date Ric, who is the same age as Piero, who is old enough to be Fabiola’s
father… Am I over thinking this? I have no life…
Later, during
dinner, as Paloma talks about the company meeting, Fidelia notices that Fabiola
is very quiet. What is going on with her? It’s the cramps, Viewerville shouts…
No, Paloma explains Fabiola has a head ache and Fabi excuses herself and goes
to sleep, accompanied by Marilu.
After they ditch
the two old broads, Ric and Oriana go for a walk in the garden. They make out a
while, professing eternal love and then they start talking about the million
problems they have.
Oriana has barely
had the time to look over the documents she found in JL’c computer, but as far
as she could tell, there was nothing compromising in them – just some legal
papers about the investment proposal for Aresti Breton and the documents of
another company, where that Trejo guy and the Caribbean Company are the main socios.
Apparently Fauxcisco Castro is not the president, that position is yet to be
filled.
Oriana has also
discovered an email that said that the Colombian authorities have exonerated her,
but she’s upset because this still doesn’t solve her problems (which one of
them, I have no idea, I lost track).
Ric, ever the cheerful
optimist, thinks they’ll get through this together – this seems like something
I already typed a million times before, so I’m guessing they’re about to be
separated again.
Oriana is very
afraid because JL might take Alina, he is very smart and it’s not like they can
stay at Fidelia’s Open House forever. Besides, Oriana is also worried for the
troubles Lucina and Raquel might get into because of the fake passports.
Ricardo wants to
talk to the police about Trejo, but he needs proof before. Also, he’s sure JL
has the gun that was used to kill Berto – JL has a safe at home, maybe that’s
where he’s keeping the gun.
Seb and Antonio are
hanging out at the bar. Seb is furious because Fabi had the gall to say no to
his marriage proposal. Antonio is worried about what Fauxcisco will say, since
this might affect the reputation of their new company. So, what Seb needs to do
is seduce Fabiola all over again, make her fall for him. Another fatherly
advice that makes Viewerville cringe.
And talking about
lousy fathers, Benigno doesn’t want to go to the clinic to sign the papers the
doctors need to operate on Maria. His lady friend/ model of virtue and style
tells him that if he does sign, Ric will continue to give him money. And it’s
not like any of them plans to work, right?
So Benigno
reluctantly takes this advice and the next day he goes to the clinic to sign
the forms for Maria’s operation.
At Fidelia’s Open
House, Fabiola is still feeling under the weather, so Paloma decides to tell
Fidelia the truth: the girl is pregnant and Seb is the father.
Fabi goes to the
beach and Marilu accompanies her. She shares her secret with her new found friend
and Marilu tries to comfort her the best way that she can. She does use a line
I hate – “you won’t be the first or the last single mom out there” – this
offers NO comfort, NEVER, but at least Fabiola is sharing her problems with
someone other than middle-aged men.
Fabi’s also afraid
that her mother will force her to marry Seb and Marilu promises she will
support her every step of the way.
Alina finds out she
will be reunited with Tito soon enough – Ric asks her to have a little bit of
patience.
Leo goes to visit
Fabiola to tell her that she can come to see Tito at his house. Maddy receives
him and explains that Fabi is not home. Leo should already know this because
Fabiola TOLD him she’s leaving the night before, so this is a poor plot
contrivance meant to have Leo in the house when Seb comes in search of Fabi.
And why is that? Maddy
asks.
Because she’s
pregnant and we need to get married, Seb shouts, leaving both Maddy and Leo
shocked.
Tomorrow:
Will Leo jump to the
chance to marry Fabiola, like Pedro and Piero idiotically supposed?
Will Fidelia’s Open
House receive another guest? Some bunk beds might be needed.
Will Maddy’s head
explode?
I haven’t seen the
previews, so stay tuned to find out the answer to these all important questions
tomorrow.
Great work.
ReplyDeleteMaddy's head will explode into a million pieces....not, much to our chagrin. She will go on in full Gabriela Elizondo mode except her weapon of choice will be a wooden spoon rather than a riding crop.
Talk about a latter-day Bernarda Alba...
Fabiola was immensely foolish to have anything to do with Sebastian, but doesn't deserve the punishment of being married to him.
Raquel is a horny fool. JL is gorgeous but he's insane and dangerous. I guess that writes her ending eventually.
Fab recap, Adriana. Loved your snark on the two worst kept secrets in Sonora-- Fidelia's safe house, and Fabi's pregnancy. Well, at least they didn’t drag the pregnancy reveal out for more than two episodes. I’m grateful for the writers for moving rapidly on that storyline. I wish Ricky and Pierro had moved just as quickly to be helpful after they found out that Sebas likely raped Fabi. How either of them thinks Fabi marrying Sebas is an option after that is beyond me. It seems like they never fully believed that Sebas raped her—perhaps just pressured her extremely into having sex with him. I wish Fabi would be more firm about this and speak up and say to Sebas’ face and to others that he’s a rapist. It’s like she’s not even sure about it herself.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, it seems that the women at least know that Sebas would be a lousy husband, even without knowing he’s a rapist. They haven’t suggested marrying the slug. After her head explodes, I wonder what Mati will order Fabi to do? Marry Sebas? Marry someone else? Go away for a year to hide her shame/pregnancy and give the baby up? Or maybe she’ll surprise us by being understanding. She did get pregnant out of wedlock too. Of course, she did it on purpose to trap a man into marrying her. The previews show Fabi attempting suicide, so that might wake up Mati, Ruben and everyone else.
How interesting that Leo’s grandpa was head of the secret service and is well connected with the authorities. Could the old man be the key to bringing down JL and his bosses?
I sense we're moving into a new etapa as always happens halfway through Maria Zaranttini novelas. In Sortilegio it was the twin switch, in LFDD it was Lucia and Camilo's marriage and subsequent pregnancy.
ReplyDeleteJose Luis's storyline seems to be taking over, paving the way for all the big crimes that need to be dealt with before the story is over. Oriana's identity theft as Ines may also take center stage (wonder if she will go to jail for a bit) in the final months.
It all looks promising but I wonder if it will be handled properly. LFDD was underwhelming and Sortilegio was a mess in the last months.
*Fingers crossed8
Splash recap Adriana and splash ending scene. Brutal good scenes with the faces of actors and actresses.
ReplyDeleteFrom Matilde's look I think , she will kill Sebastian, she is like a bomb. She would kill with her eyes.
And these guys Mr. Sanchez Breton and Mr Verastegui are smart, but with bad ideas. In the earlier episodes Piero thoughts about Maria's death, now Ricky with the marriage. Firstly, they should listen Fabi, what she wants.
And I hate these mentility in the boys, then why didn't Ricky marry with Maria in the past?
Adriana Noel - Terrific recap. Love your snark on the middle-aged men being all up in Fabiola's ob/gyn business.
ReplyDeleteSo both the hero and the villain want Sebas to marry Fabiola. Ugh. But I did enjoy JL plunking Sebas's empty forehead with his finger.
The rotten daddy and rotten son bonding over a beer in the bar was interesting. Wonder where that will go.
Raquel hasn't really seen JL's crazy side. She hasn't crossed the line into murder or anything, so I'm still hoping she wakes up.
Adriana, you were in rare form for this one and it was fantastic! Especially liked: "Am I over thinking this? I have no life…"
ReplyDeleteYour asides in this one were so good! Great job, Adriana!!!
What in the heck are Ric and Padre Plaid thinking?! WHY would marrying that jerk Seb be a good thing for Fabiola?! These guys need to get a grip. That is downright foolish advice.
I don't root for Matilde for anything, but I agree, she had a right to know what happened to her daughter. I will root for her to knock some sense into Sabenada and I don't really care how violent she gets.
As for Raquel, she trash who will soon become toasted trash.
Fatima
I'll give Padre Plaid a break. He has no idea abou the rape, and his advice was that Fabi should marry who she loves-- if that is Sebas, so be it. But he wasn't really pushing her to marry the guy. Ricky and JL seemed to be the biggest boosters for marriage to SabAss, or marriage to somebody.
ReplyDeletePostscript from yesterday when I was asking about the actress in "La Madrastra" who looked so odd with the massive plastic work done on her face.
ReplyDeleteUrban and AlejoP were trying to help me figure this one out. I am glad to report that I got the answer The actress' name is: Irma Serrano. Her nickname is "La Tigresa".
I wish I could post a pic, but I can't even figure out how to make a word in bold face type!
In another shout out to Urban, you were wondering a while back on one of your weekend topics why you found Peter O'Toole handsome. It has to have been those incredibly beautiful blue eyes. How sad that we lost this incredible actor this past week.
Fatima
Vivi in DC, you actually reminded me about one other thing. I know Fabiola is only 17, but this girl needs to learn how to speak up for herself. Her silence implicated Piero as the father. She made no effort to correct that mistake and that bugged me.
ReplyDeleteShe needs to speak to Padre and tell him straight out that this was a rape.
As for Piero and his supposed love of Fabiola, I'm kind of surprised the writers went that route.
Fatima
Peter O'Toole was handsome in his prime, but his drinking really did in any chance he had of aging well.
ReplyDeleteAnd Fabiola should get an abortion or give up the baby for adoption.
Fatima- That’s Fabi’s biggest problem, and what Paloma was getting at. The way she and Cesar were raised completely stifled their voice. Neither one, up till now, knew how to speak up for themselves. They bow their heads meekly and let others speak for them. I think it was great that they were raised to respect their elders. Points for Mati, Ruben and Paloma. But it’s awful that they were also raised to believe their thoughts and beliefs were not important enough to be heard, and that they should just take what others dish out at them—be it their mother at home, or outside predators like Raquel and Sebastian.
ReplyDeleteVivi in DC, you are absolutely correct on all counts and I totally agree.
ReplyDeleteUrban, yes, I agree that the once strikingly handsome Peter O'Toole did not age well because of his drinking.
Fatima
Great recap, Adriana. I loved and agreed with all of your snarky asides!
ReplyDeleteThanks Adriana. JL wants Raquel to find out where Oriana is by asking Lucina, but I don't think Lucina knows where she is.
ReplyDeleteI'm you with you that Matilde had a right to know where her daughter was going. And the 'I told you sos' will undoubtedly start as soon as Matilde is in touch with Paloma. This is exactly what Matilde was trying to prevent by guarding Fabiola so tightly. If I were Leo after hearing that conversation between Sebastian and Matilde, I would leave and never come back. Why he would want to involve himself in that mess would not make any sense. And again, it really torques my shorts when they have characters falling in love after meeting 2 times. That's so childish and ridiculous.
Also, Padre Plaid asked Piero if he were in love with Fabiola, and Piero asked would it be a sin if he were, and Padre said no. But I think it may be if the woman is underage, like she is.
Great recap! But what is wrong with these people? A mention of abortion (even if it will never happen)? Refusing to marry her rapist? Marilu being friends with the ex that she should be stalking or manipulating? Where do they think they're living, anyway?? (I'm talking about Novelaland, not Hermosillo, which I'm sure is perfectly normal).
ReplyDeleteAnd I give kudos to these men who can hear about cramps without gagging or making a face. Very grown up of you, boys. But I take away points for any thought that marrying Seabasss is better than being a single mother. Like that chamaco would be much help anyway.
So I know LFDD and this show don't get as much support from the viewing public as others, but I like these stories! Just enough drama and nonsense to be fun to watch, without crossing the line into ridiculousness.
Kelly
Forgot to add that I think Leo's Gramps is one cool dude! He and Paloma would make a great match. I think he would appreciate her for who she is and not what he expects her to be. Whaddya bet he will be the one to get 411 on JL?
ReplyDeleteFatima
I'm with you Kelly! This and PSMA are my favorite shows :)
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed LFDD too. My only beef with that tn was the total lack of chemistry between the leads. But I enjoyed the story's twists and turns, without turning crazy, and I LOVED me some Antolin. That's the only thing this one lacks for me-- someone I enjoy drooling over. :)
ReplyDeleteThis title is awesome!
ReplyDeleteCynderella
AdrianaNoel:
ReplyDeleteReally snarky title! Really enjoyed your sidebar remarks, too. I guess I don't have a life, either! LOL!
Sebastardo really was a charmer last night (NOT). The actor is doing a terrific job of playing this role. I really wanted to kick him in the unmentionables the last couple of nights and was silently cheering at the way JL/Fauxcisco put the spoiled, self-centered, lazy-asshat in his place and roasted his chestnuts. Two thumbs up and a twist.
Granny has no business superseding Matilde's authority. Granny is loca.
ReplyDeleteI finally figured out what compares with the hollow sucking sound emitted by thin lips and thunder hips when they kiss -- that of a buffalo pulling its foot out of a swamp.
Preview:
ReplyDeleteMatilde slaps Sebastian, Fabiola cuts her wrists and the gang takes her to a hospital.
Egads!
Thanks for your recap Adriana. Your asides were hilarious.
ReplyDeleteGracias for the recap, Adriana! Lol at your observation about the relative ages of Fabi, Marilu, Ric, and Piero...I don't think you're overthinking it, I think the writers are underthinking it.
ReplyDelete
