La Malquerida #44, 10/23/14: Luisa Nearly Gets Kissed; Acacia Goes All the Way; Perla Gets Whupped

Mexico Episode #49

-Danilo says the woman who came to the wedding with him isn’t his wife, just a girlfriend. After Ale ran away and he couldn’t find her, he tried to get on with his life and started to date this woman. But she always knew he couldn’t love her like Ale. And when he found Ale again, he ended things with that woman. In any case, Este and Cris say Ale is coming home with them.

-Luisa chooses to speak with Manuel and sends Arturo to wait for her in the kitchen. She gets all flirty with Manuel, and is flattered that he seems to be jealous of Art. Her smile soon turns into a frown, when Manuel states what he wants—info on Acacia and Uli. Luisa realizes what a dope she was and tells him off. She goes to the kitchen and finds that Art has taken off. She calls and asks him to come back, but Art is no fool. He’ll see her later at their appointed time to cook for their event. He knows how not to mix business and personal life. Luisa is clearly disappointed. Rosa wonders if she got gussied up for Art. Rosa thinks he’s a nice boy, but she wants Luisa to be careful in any case. Later, at Uli’s house, Luisa arrives with a peace offering of a gelatin cake, but Art remains all business. He gives her a cool apron with their company logo, but he says it’s just their uniform. However, once they start bumping into each other as they cook in Uli’s small living/dining room, he drops the attitude and the anger, and gets back to his old self. He puts on music, takes Luisa into his arms, brushes a stray hair away, looks deep into Luisa’s eyes, and…her phone rings! It’s Rosa checking up on her. That woman has some sort of spidey sense!

-German takes the opportunity to kiss sleeping Ale in the cemetery. Dan is not happy. The chest thumping between the two continue when they all arrive at Benavente. They both want to give the doctor orders about how to look after Ale. German still insists on paying for part of Ale’s mom’s funeral. Dan states his rights to make decisions for Ale as her FIANCE. Este gets between them and gives them marching orders. Dan WILL sign the agreement the growers came to in the meeting. German and Ale WILL return to work at the Association—tough noogies if Dan isn’t in agreement. It’s Ale’s decision.

-Acacia finally starts asking Ale some tough questions about how Dan fits into her life story. This is Ale’s ball of lies: Dan met her when she was in the brothel. He came there to get over the loss of his mother, but he and Ale never had sex. He just came there to talk to someone. They fell in love, but she was still never able to make love to him because of her trauma. They got engaged. He helped her escape, and that’s when Acacia met her. Danilo supported the lie about her dad being the one to abuse her because he knows how ashamed she is to talk about her past in the brothel. Acacia points out that she must love German more than she loves Danilo since she was able to make love to German. Ale mysteriously says that the magic of Danilo is that he knows the “real Alejandra.” Acacia says the real Alejandra is the one they all know and love, and she is sure that German would not abandon her if he knew the whole truth about her past. They are interrupted by Cris and the doctor. Ale has Acacia stay for the exam.

-In the living room, Este takes Cris aside and asks if the card that came with the wedding gift from Danilo said it was from him and his wife (esposa) or his woman (mujer*)? Cris believes it said mujer. On cue, Perla comes barreling in looking for Dan. He turns white. But then he has her affirm in front of everyone that there is no longer anything between them, right? Perla, oops, Adelmira, affirms this and slinks out of the hacienda.

-The doctor tells them all that he found Ale to be very anxious and he gave her a sedative. He wants her to come to the hospital tomorrow so that he can run tests and be sure she isn’t anemic. He prohibits Dan from going into the room to see her. Thank you, Doc! He will also recommend a therapist for her. Dan sweats bullets. Cris and Este send German and Danilo home. Before he leaves, Dan checks in with Rubio and updates him on his status as Ale’s fiancé. Dan’s mad that Rubio allowed Perla to enter the hacienda. Rubio is willing to do whatever Dan bids.

-Perla brings Julianita food. Julianita begs to finally be let out. She’s learned her lesson. Perla is too nervous and jittery to really listen. In walks Danilo. No words need to be spoken. Perla cowers in fear and grovels at Dan’s feet. Then she crawls to a corner and her cries can be heard as Dan’s cane comes down on her repeatedly. Julianita’s face reflects the horror of the scene.

-Acacia speaks to Cris about Ale. They both think Ale is confused and suffering from grief and her abusive past. Acacia tells Cris about how Ale was only ever able to make love to German, which must mean she loves him more than Dan. Acacia doesn’t want Cris to judge Ale badly. Cris of course doesn’t. These things happen, and it’s up to each person to know when the right time is.

-At home, Manuel continues to sulk about Acacia, and also about Luisa. He has dinner with Juliana and Norberto, and they are their usual happy selves. Manuel wonders why German can’t come home if he’s going to be working at the Association again. Norb says because Este is the boss at the Association, but HE is the boss in their home! Manuel throws a hissy fit when the maid brings him his favorite chicken, which he can’t cut with one hand. Norb shows him how to eat like a caveman with pride. Juliana tries to cut up his food for him. I’m surprised she didn’t chew and regurgitate it for him. Manuel acts like a five year old by throwing a tantrum and yelling that he’s not a five year old!

-Uli meets up with Carmen and Andres, who are canoodling at an outdoor café. Andres says that Carmen doesn’t have to keep working if she doesn’t want to. She loves to work, plus she needs income to pay the mortgage. They have also agreed to keep their debts separate. Andres wonders how much of her mortgage is left to pay. She explains that they only recently mortgaged the house to give Uli capital for his project. Uli comes with a check for the monthly mortgage payment. Andres emphasizes to Uli what he just said to Carmen. If he ever needs financial help, or advice or a friend, he’ll be there for him. All Uli wants is for Andres to take care of his mom and treat her well.

-At the construction site, Nuria brags some more about all the sales she’s making. Uli congratulates her on being such a great salesperson, but eyes her suspiciously. She says she’s sold over 70% of the plots, but he knows he hasn’t signed that many contracts. Where are the contracts she promised to show him? Nuria gets nervous. She says she came to his office with them, but since he wasn’t there, and he won’t give her the keys to his drawers, she didn’t want to leave them out in the open on his desk. She offers to bring them to his house that evening to review, if his girlfriend won’t mind.

-Uli’s next stop is Benavente. He gets the update on Ale from Acacia. They smooch and cuddle on the couch and bait anvils by speaking about how happy they are and how they have no problems. Este creeps in the background and watches them smooch for a bit, before going into the office to join Cris. Cris is still really affected by the death of Ale’s mom and asks Este to be a father to Acacia if anything happens to her. Este gets agitated and says that Acacia doesn’t see him as a father! She’s already made clear that no one can take Alonso’s place. Plus, Juan Carlos is the one she sees as a second father. Cris points out that there’s a great age difference between Acacia and JC. While with Este, Acacia and he get along so well and understand each other. Este quickly changes the subject.

-Meanwhile, at the swimming hole, Acacia and Uli are getting hot and heavy. Acacia says how much she loves him and how much she’ll miss him when she goes off to university in San Jacinto in a few months. Uli says that by then he’ll be done with his project and back in San Jacinto. They vow their eternal love, and the petting gets heavier. Acacia pauses the action to say they need to be responsible, and Uli says he would never do anything to put her at risk. (i.e. Don’t worry. I’ve got Trojans in my wallet, baby.) The clothes come off. Nature takes its course. Viewerville is happy that this is not one of the days Este chose to stalk the Bikini Goddess at her swimming hole.

*mujer- Literally, woman. Often used interchangeably with wife/esposa. Implies the woman with whom you have a serious relationship, and with whom you have sex.  

Avances: Rubio gets orders to take care of Uli. Uh oh! Este plays the, "not tonight honey, I have a headache card" with Cris.
