Golden Boy – Yali Kapcini – Poder y traicion
    Episode 4

    Surprises and Preparations
In Antep, Ferit reminds his mother that the deal was that he gets to keep living his life just the way he has. Apparently Ferit considers Seyran a commoner, who knows nothing, and probably doesn’t even know where Istanbul is. He is very impressed with himself. Pelin meets him in Antep and they share her room.

Seyran and family are busy with lots of preparation. They need to keep things from Suna so not to hurt her feelings. Ferit comes to their home to meet with Kazim. Kazim is less than impressed with his casual clothing, including Chuck Taylor (I think) sneakers. Even so, Kazim is positively exulting about this deal. He states: My daughter is part of my soul.” [That’s the first affectionate thing he has said about either daughter. I’m sure it’s just for show.] He asks if Ferit is going to work, and Ferit doesn’t look at all interested. Kazim recommends going to his tailor to get suits to wear to work, apparently hoping he will stop wearing his casual clothing and get a job. [This is funny to me, because I think Kazim doesn’t produce much himself and just keeps selling off his land, IIRC. But he does dress for business.]

Ferit and Seyran go out for a bit, with Abidin driving and guarding. Ferit thinks she is flirting because all the girls he meets are so impressed with him. Abidin watches their banter where she gives as good as she gets. Ferit thinks she must be ecstatic as any girl would be to be marrying him. She points out that his money and last name mean nothing to her. She is interested only in character. Later Abidin tells her he was worried about her, but now he’s worried about Ferit. [This made me laugh out loud!] She is strong and not impressed with all this wealth. Abidin tells her Ferit is not that different from her. Neither wants to marry but their families are making it necessary.

Gulgun tells Seyran it’s hard to fit into the Gorhan family. It’s like being a piece of a puzzle trying to find place to fit in. Eventually she’ll find her place. She just needs to keep moving forward.

Halis likes to dictate journal entries to Latif that are elegant, like poetry. These two have a strong and enduring bond. Halis remembers sending Hattuc a beautiful necklace for “the light of his eyes” when they were young. I wonder what happened to their romance. Later we see Hattuc giving Seyran some lira so she can keep up with other Istanbul wives without asking her husband for money at first. Then she gives Seyran the necklace made by Halis to use for special occasions, and if ever in trouble, she should wear it so Halis sees it. [I wonder when that will be! Something to look forward to!]

Suna gives Seyran things she had gathered and made for her wedding including beautifully embroidered linens. Also, she gives Seyran their mother’s dress, very lovely. Suna tells her she can return it to her after. Esme tells Seyran: I hope Allah gives you a better life than I have. [That sounds so sad, but very true in Esme’s case.] Esme, Seyran, and Suna hug. The mother and daughters three-way bond is very strong.

I caught up to episode 3 and then went to watch Lobo. It's fairly easy to watch on my desktop computer. I read dondi's recap mentioning diabetes and didn't remember seeing Ferit being injected by his friend/watcher. Is Peacock showing less? Anyway, Epi#3 cleared that up by having Seyran find his insulin in the glove compartment.

It was a surprise that Ferit dislikes Ifakat. He was delighted she'd returned to Istanbul.

I seem to be missing things. The woman who fell asleep, a servant, is Sultan? And she's in love with Ferit. She looks at least 40.

They sure went through the files to find the most disgusting guy to play Kazim. He has terrible teeth, like fangs, on top of being a horrible husband and father. He weaseled a house in Istanbul out of the Korhans to hand over a daughter? Does Ferit have that bad a reputation?

More confusion. Pelin somehow arranged for Ferit to marry Suna, but got Seyran instead? That's a risky move, that he sticks with her after marrying someone.

I guess I just miss Lejos de Ti. I prefer Cihan to any males in this cast. And, I'm the mother of a son, so I identify with Alya. Maybe these protags are too young for me to care about.

Novelera, I miss Lejos, too. But, Golden Boy really does get better. If you have time, stick with it for a few more episodes. I’m addicted.

Sultan is a servant. The name is misleading. Apparently she has history with Ferit.

Kazim is well-portrayed by the actor! He is awful, but very astute is weaseling stuff from the Korhans. Dondi says his voice in Turkish is even more entertaining due to the local dialect!

Novelera, I'm still confused about Sultan and I'm on episode 14! I did discover last night that Telemundo has English CCS so if this show doesn't get recapped in depth I can cheat. I did that with some of the past shows, especially if I was recapping and wanted to get it right.

I am confused about Pelin having her maid set Ferit up in the first place. Was it to extort money or was she hoping that the demand for Ferit to marry would give her a shot at the position?

  6. golden #3

novelera, I see you prefer the aşiret dizis. The Turks love them. Maybe you have some Turkish blood? Golden has similar themes: transgenerational trauma, patriarchal system, misogyny, forced marriage, abuse, tradition vs modernity, but it’s much more subtle.

Abidin checked Ferit’s blood sugar after he put him in bed. He always does this when Ferit gets very drunk. It’s dangerous for a diabetic.

No surprise Ferit dislikes Ifakat. She’s an extension of Halis. Very controlling.

Kazim is horrible. He’s thrilled about joining the Korhan family and he’s going to squeeze all he can get out of them. He’s selling his land and losing his sources of income. Ferit is a life saver to him.

Kat, Pelin was hoping to be the one that Ferit married. She masterminded the setup, promised to pay the maid. It’s backfired on her. Halis wanted a girl from Antep for Ferit. Is Pelo turning into an obsessive girlfriend like Mine in Lejos? Now she followed him to Antep.

Sultan is another woman obsessed with Ferit. I guess Ferit isn’t lying when he says that the ladies go crazy over him. He’s rich, handsome, and he’s got skills. Only Seyran is immune.

Perfect summary, Babachita. Thank you. Nice that we had another episode with no significant edits. But once again there are weird translations.

Ferit did not refer to Seyran as a “commoner”, but I guess it was implied. He wasn’t “starting a new life with a girl from Antep.”

Seyran was surprised to hear that Ferit was forced to marry, just like her.

It’s nice to see a supportive MIL like Gulgun instead of the stereotypical MIL from hell.

Abidin is a voice of reason. He sees everything and quietly speaks the truth.

I will do a summary of #5 over the weekend, after I finish KPA.

  8. Lobo #3 2-19-2026

Here goes - I didn't take notes last night.

Lobo escaped Dante at Antonia's house. (We don't know why Lobo thought to go there, since he had put Antonia's father in prison.)

Lobo decided to move Renata and Berta to Fernando's house. Berta needed insulin, so she was left behind until the insulin delivery came, then she would catch up.

Antonia talked to Graciela and to DA Cruz. A. didn't understand why they thought Lobo was guilty of the killings and kidnapping. Perhaps he was helping Renata. Doubt is creeping in. Dante also tried to steer A. away from thinking Lobo is innocent.

Graciela identified Gustavo's body in the morgue. Flashback - they had an affair. Could be why she was estranged from Miranda. Grac was not allowed to see Miranda's body. Supposedly too many wounds. (Viewers have not seen Miranda dead either. Hmm....

Azufrero brought the actual murderers to Cruz who killed them. Azufrero identified himself as a "capo".

Cocula, who had been the security head at G&M's mansion, tracked Berta to the warehouse through her phone (he had prob put a tracking device on it earlier). He lured Lobo there and demanded Renata.

My screen went blank, so I hit "Publish" to see if it would show up. Yes! But I hadn't typed my last sentence:

Cocula shot at Berta. Lobo lunged forward to protect her but likely not in time. Berta appears to be dead. End episode.

I forgot to insert Lobo's dream. He woke up earlier after a dream in which he romanced Miranda (flashback) and then romanced Antonia ( flashback or wish?).

Thanks so much, Anastasia! Short recaps are more than fine. We just need a starter so we can put our thoughts up here.

I think Lobo just wants to get through to Antonia. As he said last night, he knows she's an honest cop in the middle of a web of crooked ones. IIRC he did tell Antonia about Dante pretending to arrive with Antonia at Lobo's apartment with the warrant, not mentioning he'd already gone there ex-judicially and been bested by Lobo. Speaking Dante, the actor is overacting. He wanted to gain Antonia's confidence and also bed her. But his penchant for breaking the rules is causing her to wonder about him.

Yes, I wondered about Graciela not seeing her sister's body. And she kind of lied about the damage. We saw Miranda shot twice in the chest. Her face was untouched. She'd have made an OK corpse to view. To me it appears as if Graciela envied her sister everything she had. We might see a flashback of her wanting Lobo as well. I am disappointed in Gustavo. He got involved with crooks, but I thought he adored his wife.

I think El Azufrero is trying to keep control of Cruz. He mentioned something about Cruz not liking the "babes" he had to impress the Russians. I think he wants to keep Cruz at his level. Cruz was disgusted El Az had shown him the killers. Not sure exactly what went down, but I think Cruz had El Az set it up, but he didn't want to see the fallout, to keep his hands clean.

I'm not wild about the Antonia actor. I get that she's supposed to keep on being resentful of Lobo. I now am leaning toward her father, Eugenio, actually being guilty of...something. I didn't take notes either. Someone visited Eugenio in prison and the things he said were more compromising.

I am a bit tired of Lobo getting caught over and over and somehow escaping. I am ready for he and Renata to hit the road.

I’m going to miss Berta. She’s alive long enough to bid Lobo to take her, take her far, care for her as if she were his daughter. Dante promised he’d get medical help for her if Lobo gave up Renata. Lobo agrees, but I think he’s buying time. We hear Cocula’s shot finishing her off.

Cruz tells Graciela Villanueva he’s going to make her sister’s killers pay. Then we see for the second time that he’s already killed them. Cruz has the cojones to call Eugenio corrupt.

Antonia tries to get Cruz to help her father. But someone shanks him in prison.

Fernando, I think, pretends car trouble outside Lobo’s hideout. He sees Lobo being hustled down the street by Cocula and Dante. He sees a sort of bracelet on the cop who’s been telling him to move his car. Must be a sign he’s on the take. Fer cuts off Dante’s vehicle. The sudden braking lets Lobo elbow Cocula and begin to choke out Dante. He and Fer get away. Dante seethes with rage on the street, as usual blaming whoever happens to be there.

Santiago is great with Renata. He tells her a bit about Lobo: quiet, secretive, grumpy, angry. But he wants to always help the underdogs. Santi compares Lobo to a street dog who might end up warming your feet in bed.

Half the cast keeps saying Renata has something in her eyes that is the way to find the fortune. She also has some problem requiring eye drops. Still a mystery to me.

Graciela gets a text seeming to be from Gustavo about her having his favorite flowers at the funeral. Antonia says she'll try to find out where it originated.

Doña Guillermina seems to have a bit of dementia.

Gustavo’s lawyer needs to meet with Graciela about his business. She needs to get custody of Renata. And later it’s said that, if Renata dies, everything will belong to Graciela.

Lobo tells Renata that Berta is in the hospital getting better. Antonio manages to get Eugenio to a safe place.

Lobo goes to the place where Miranda’s velorio was being held. He promises her photo that he’ll protect Renata with his life.

We get a flashback of Gustavo telling Cruz he’s out of that business since El Azufrero appeared. He doesn’t want Renata to know what he’s done.

Lobo sees that he can’t fly north. His face is everywhere.

There’s tension between El Az and Cruz and increasing every time they meet. El Az shows him a picture of his family. Bring me the map or your family will die. Cruz suggests to El Az his idea about working with Graciela.

Antonia comes to Lobo’s warehouse and sees Berta’s body.

Lobo and Fernando discover Gustavo’s involvement with laundering money from arms sales.

Renata is very sick, high fever and trembling all over.

Thanks Novelera - there were so many important events and conversations, I will gave to re-watch.

I think the text to Graciela about picking the deceased favorite flowers at the velatorio is from Miranda, going with my theory that M is not dead. Graci thinks the text is from someone punking her. I think Gustavo is truly dead and could not have sent the text.

Lobo is now being blamed for Berta's death, as well.

Antonia's dad may have been stabbed to take her attention away from the case. She was asking too many questions.

I didn't understand how Fercho (Fernando) got access to the photos of Gustavo with people, and how he and Lobo think Gustavo is El Jeraca (the ultimate boss).

Gustavo, who was either an engineer, or engineered the deals, wanted out of the business (arms? drugs?) and Cruz told him the only way Gustavo could leave was if he were dead. So Cruz ordered Cocula to oblige Gustavo.

That would be great, Babachita. As you saw, I did a mini for Friday. We've had some people chime in that they like it but, so far, only Anastasia and I are doing recaps or long comments. Arap keeps me interested. Last night a good friend was over for dinner. She finds my long-term presence on this blog to be interesting. I described the plot of Lobo to her and showed her a picture of Arap on my phone. She could see the German heritage right away.

Was this the first time we've seen Doña Guillermina. Who is shso many bad people in this show. I keep expecting sis to be crooked. I'm sure she would love to have the family money. I guess she and her sister inherited a tequila company. I wonder how the fueding sisters managed to run it if they have avoided each other for years.

I wonder if Renata has some sort of implants in her eyes and sci fi technology here, maybe the map is somehow written on the perhaps lens implant. Another possibility is she had cornea transplants due to disease. Maybe her high fever is due to transplant rejection.

Novelera, I'm also stunned at how many predicaments lobo extricated himself from. I'm not loving all the violence in this show so far. Hopefully they tone it down or I may quit as narco storylines I dislike.

    #5 part 1

Wedding day. Seyran is wearing her mother’s dress. It’s perfect. Suna says she’s like a princess in a fairytale. Seyro laments, look at me, why am I dressed as a bride Esme says, I hope God gives you a better life than mine.
Sanli konak is prepared. Gifts arrive. Ferit and Abidin come down to the lobby where Orhan and Gulgun are waiting. [Mert looks very nice in his suit.]

The Korhans drive up to the Sanli konak. Envelopes of money are tossed out of the car and the kids on the street gather them up. Neighbors gather outside the konak. Musicians play. The Korhans are greeted by Kazim and Hattuc and they enter.

Seyran and Suna sit on the bed, holding hands. There is no joy. Suna tells Seyro, don’t worry, I’ll be looking from the window. Look up and you’ll see me. They hug. Seyro takes a deep breath and heads out to meet her fate.

Seyran comes out to applause. Ferit turns to look at his bride. Suna looks out the window. Seyran and Ferit sit at the wedding table. The ceremony starts. Suna can’t look anymore. She cries.

Ceremony is over. The newlyweds leave the konak. Applause for the couple. They get in the car. Seyran sees her sister at the window. Esme waves and gives a bittersweet smile. Seyran turns and looks at what she’s leaving behind for as long as she can.

The Korhans are back at the hotel. They are welcomed by the hotel staff and congratulated. Ferit leans over to Seyran with a big smile, should we go up to our room? Seyro says she needs to use the bathroom first. Ferit says he will be waiting by the elevator. Hurry up. Gulgun accompanies Seyro. She waits outside for her.

Seyran looks like she might get sick. She has a panic attack. Gulgun calls out to her. Seyran? She knocks on the door. Do you need anything? Are you okay? Do you need help? Seyro eventually calms herself and exits the bathroom.

There’s Ferit, standing at the elevator. He looks like he’s ready to eat her for dinner. They silently head to the bridal suite. Ferit leans on the door and lets Seyran enter. She looks around. And there, in the room, is Pelin with a glass of champagne in her hand and a smirky look on her face.

Pelo holds her hand out to Seyran—I wish you happiness. Seyran does not take her hand. Pelin laughs, I thought this was customary. Seyran asks Ferit, what is this? I’ll be honest with you from day one, Ferit replies, I know you didn’t want this marriage either. No one asked us what we wanted, we were forced to agree. Right?

Seyran says yes. Aferin, harika (well done, wonderful), Ferit answers, we’ll find a way to make this work without lying to each other. And… Seyro asks. You’ll know everything, and you will cover for me, he replies.

Seyran slaps Ferit and storms off to the bathroom. She is steaming mad. She lets out a shout. She takes off her gold bracelets and tosses them. The veil comes off, so does the red ribbon. She lies down in the bathtub. She can hear Ferit and Pelo laughing.

Seyran falls asleep in the tub and startles awake when she hears a loud thud from the room. She gets up and washes up at the sink. Everything is strangely quiet. She listens at the door, then opens it. She looks around. Pelo is passed out on the bed and Ferit is passed out on the floor. She puts her hand to her head and sighs, this can’t be happening.

    #5 part 2

Seyro goes over to Ferit and pushes him with her foot. Ferit? He doesn’t move. She thinks back to when she saw the syringes in the car and Ferit explained, it’s insulin. I need it. Fainting and dizziness are familiar to me. Seyro gasps—his blood sugar! She bends down next to him and tries to wake him. Ferit? Are you okay? She shakes him. Look at me! He doesn't respond.

Seyran grabs Ferit’s phone. It’s good it’s not locked. She calls Abidin. Hello Abidin abi, Ferit fainted. He’s on the floor. What should I do? Okay… she runs to get some sugar and puts it under Ferit’s tongue. Abidin calls an ambulance. Then he calls Orhan.

Abidin comes to the room. He checks Ferit. How long has he been like this? Seyran isn’t sure. Abidin tells her to calm down, he’s called an ambulance and called Orhan. Uh, oh, Pelin is in the room! What do we do?! Abi tells her to pick up and hide everything, and he picks up Pelin and puts her in the bathroom.

Orhan and Gulgun come. Abidin checks Ferit’s blood. It’s not good. The EMTs take Ferit. They go to the hospital. Seyran is left behind. She sits on the sofa and sobs. She tries to take off her dress, but she can’t manage the zipper. A housekeeper comes in and helps her. Seyran cries on the housekeeper’s shoulder.

Doctor comes in and tells Ferit’s parents his blood sugar was very low. You gave him sugar just in time. Now we need a little more time. Don’t worry, he’ll wake up soon. The night goes on. Ferit finally wakes up. He doesn’t remember anything. Orhan tells him, your blood sugar dropped and you passed out. Ferit looks at Abidin, you saved my life again, abi. Not me, Abidin explains, it was Seyran hanım. I told her what to do, she saved your life. Ferit asks, where is she? Gulgun says she’s at the hotel. Orhan adds, she was so panicked. He sends Abidin to bring her.

Abidin knocks and Seyran opens the door. She asks about Ferit. He’s okay, Abi replies, he woke up. I can take you to the hospital if you want. She’s not sure if she should go. He asks about Pelin. She’s still in the bathroom, sleeping.

Abidin manages to get Pelo up. She’s totally out of it. She asks, where’s Ferit. Ferit is waiting for us, he lies. He tells Seyran, I’ll handle this and then I can take you after if you want to go.

Abi gets Pelo to her room. She keeps asking for Ferit. He puts her on the bed and writes a note for her—call me when you wake up. Abi calls one of his men. Send a guard up to room 2109. We have a guest here. Don’t let her leave the room. Call me if anything happens.

Abi goes back to Seyran. He asks her if she wants to go to the hospital. She agrees to go. He says, about Pelin… thank you from both Ferit and me for keeping this between us. She nods and smiles.

Ferit is feeling a little better when Seyran arrives. Gulgun apologizes to her, what can I tell you. In our excitement we forgot about you. Abi whispers to Ferit that he took care of Pelin. Gulgun is very grateful to Seyran. She asks, why are you thanking me?

Gulgun explains, if you hadn’t given first aid, Ferit wouldn’t have gotten away so easily. You saved him. Seyran says that Abidin told her what to do. We should be thanking him. Gulgun thanks them both. Seyro says she was lucky the phone had no password. Gulgun says it’s a precaution we take in case this happens. See, it worked.

Ferit tells his mom not to exaggerate. Should we give you a medal, too? Gulgun makes a face at Ferit. Ferit says he keeps his phone unlocked since he has nothing to hide. My wife can look whenever she wants. Gulgun snarks that Ferit seems to have come back to his senses. She asks Abidin to come with her to get coffee and find Orhan.

    #5 part 3

When they are alone, Ferit thanks Seyran. He jokes, I guess this is what they mean when they talk about “in sickness and in health.” Look at you, Seyran replies, you’re a mess but you’re still joking. Don’t worry, he says, it won’t happen again. Anyway, how many times does a person get married in their life? I shouldn’t be worried, Seyran answers, but you should be scared. If this happens again, maybe this time I won’t wake up.

Ferit thanks her for not outing Pelin. Why would I, she asks, I’m not a fool. This marriage is a farce for both of us. Now you believe I never wanted to marry you. This will be good for me, too. Good for you, he asks, is marrying me that bad? Why are you surprised, she replies, you said a few hours ago that you didn’t want to marry me either. What happened? Ferit says, my girlfriend was with me. As it is, every girl wants to marry me. Besides, where would you find a better husband than me? But you just complain.

This isn’t the time for empty talk of self-confidence, Seyran tells him. Instead of bothering me, you should focus on your recovery. Okay, Ferit replies, won’t you at least hold my hand? She sighs and rolls her eyes. No hand holding.

Kazim gets word from a Mehmet Bey about what happened to Ferit. He shares this with Hattuc. Ferit fainted and they took him to the hospital. Diabetes or something. Turns out the groom is rotten! He’s okay now…he’s been discharged and he’s back at the hotel.

Kazim grumbles to himself, the wedding night was wasted. I hope nothing is wrong. I’ll go check on them. On his way out, he yells at Esme and Suna who are just standing in the courtyard—why are you standing here! Hadi!

Hattuc has words for Esme and Suna, too. May your tongues wither, your hearts are dried up! You made the child sick! Esme worries, did something happen to Seyran? The groom fainted on the wedding night, Hattuc says. He’s sick. He has diabetes! Your curses will destroy this house! Don’t blame us, Esme says. Quiet, Hattuc answers back. I know you and your heart. You had better pray nothing happens to that child.

Suna wonders what will happen. Will dad ask for a divorce because the groom is sick? Esme thinks not. Your father is mad, but he’d rather die than do that. There’s nothing we can do. Esme feels bad for Seyran.

Seyran and Ferit pack for the trip back to Istanbul. She looks at her wedding dress. Ferit is looking a bit sheepish. He begins, Seyran… kusura bakma. [Interesting that he uses that phrase. It’s more of a casual “I’m sorry”. Its literal meaning is “don’t look at the flaw”.] She doesn’t answer or look at him. He continues, what happened last night…it’s a little bit my fault and a little bit not. Let’s say it was the wedding stress… “özür dilerim” (this phrase is stronger.” I apologize”). He’s sincere.

Seyran looks at him, maybe she will accept the apology. She’s about to answer, but there’s a knock at the door. It’s Abidin. Seyran’s father is here. She answers, my father? Yes, Abi replies, he heard about what happened from somewhere and came to offer get well wishes. Orhan Bey and Gulgun Hanım are downstairs, too.

Seyran looks worried. She goes back into the bedroom. Ferit quietly asks Abidin, what did you do with Pelo? Abi says, I put her in a room. I’m going to check on her now. Ferit tells him, watch her, Abi, so that she doesn’t come downstairs now.

Seyran and Ferit come downstairs. Geçmiş olsun, Kazim says, how are you feeling? Ferit kisses his hand. Ferit replies, thanks, Kazim Baba, I’m much better. Seyran kisses her father’s hand. Mashallah, mashallah, Kazim says, I’m a lot calmer now that I’ve seen you with my own eyes. But I’m also a bit upset. Orhan asks why. Who are we, Kazim replies, we’re family. Should we hear such news from others? Seyran looks very nervous. Ferit notices.

Orhan explains, it was very late and we decided not to tell you and worry you. We’ve only now just come to our senses. We know news travels fast here, Kazim bey. Kusura bakma. Kazim replies, estağfurullah… but I wish I would have known sooner. About what, Orhan asks. That Ferit is sick, Kazim says, it’s the first time I hear that someone so young has diabetes.

Ferit speaks up. This doesn’t happen often, and you’re right. But don’t worry, when we return to Istanbul, Seyran will see that I’m alright. She’ll tell you on the phone. Kazim is skeptical, son if it’s up to her… she didn’t tell me what happened. You didn’t tell me, but I don’t know why she didn’t. Gulgun speaks up this time, as we said, this was an emergency.

I don’t know, Kazim continues, our thoughts will always be in Istanbul. Don’t worry, Orhan says, we will take good care of your daughter. Gulgun adds, you’ve raised Seyran very well. She’s a smart and caring girl. Seyran is still nervous, she looks down. Orhan thanks Kazim for coming. Now we need to get ready. Of course, Kazim replies, visits to the sick should be kept short.

Abidin checks in with the guard outside Pelin’s door. He says everything is okay. Abi enters the room. Pelin jumps up. Abi, what is going on? Why am I here? And you put a man at the door. Ferit passed out last night, Abi replies, his blood sugar dropped. Seyran saved him. She asks if Ferit is in the hospital. No, he’s here, he’s fine. He’s getting ready to leave. Why didn’t you tell me, she asks. He tells her he left a note to call him.

Pelo tries to leave the room and Abi stops her. She wants to see Ferit. You can’t he says, his FIL is here. Pelo realizes they shouldn’t have drank so much. Abi says she should have stopped Ferit. She asks if anyone saw her in the room. She doesn’t remember anything. Abi tells her not to worry, he took care of it, she didn’t get caught. He adds, you shouldn’t have let him drink so much. You weren’t there for him when he fainted. You’ll stay here now. Your flight is in 2 hours. You’ll see Ferit when you get back to Istanbul.

Kazim is with Hattuc. He’s angry. They think we are stray dogs! But they will hear what I have to say… Hattuc advises him to calm down. There was no need to be rude, anyway. I wasn’t, he replies, I just got up and left. And they shamelessly try to tell me about my own daughter! What do you want, Hattuc says, they’ve accepted her. You don’t understand, Kazim answers, this is the big city, Seyran will forget about us in 3 days. Calm down, Hattuc says, let time pass. Seyran will prove herself. Kazim is planning something.

    #5 part 5

Back at the yali, Latif is giving orders to the staff. They are preparing for the return from Antep. Ibo says Abidin sent a message they will arrive soon. Latif barks, Is the bride’s room ready? Make coffee for Orhan bey, tea for Gulgun hanim. Let Ifakat hanim know. Latif goes outside to greet the family when they return.

The cars drive along the waterfront. Seyran is captivated by the scenery. She breathes in the air. Ferit smiles at her, have you ever been to Istanbul? She shakes her head no. He says she’ll be able to kill time here. Don’t worry about me, she replies, I won’t need to kill time. Ah, there she is again, Ferit teases, you always have something to say, but not when your father is around. He adds, for cultural reference, these mansions are called “yalı”. They enter the Korhan grounds.

We’re here, Ferit says to Seyran, are you worried? Abidin tells Ferit that he better worry, too. Halis Aga is at the window. Ferit looks up, and there he is.

    And we are out.

Great summary, Dondi! You were busy this weekend!

I can do a short one of #6 tomorrow evening if you like.

Kat, Guillermina was introduced in the first episode. She is Eugenio's mother and Antonia's grandmother. She seemed fine when having lunch with her friend Teresa and Antonia to celebrate Antonia's promotion. Guess they wanted more problems for a protagonist by adding a problem for grannie.

Yes, I'm also pretty sure Graciela is meant to be shady. I expect we'll find out why they had the big fight. And they've already shown a flashback of her getting it on with her own sister's husband.

ITA about narconovelas, Kat. But, from what I've seen so far, the thing that Gustavo was told he could not extricate himself alive from was arms sales. It wasn't all that explicit, but I had the impression he might have been laundering the profits of this through his tequila company.

I find it hard to believe that these adoring parents would have something put in their daughter's eyes to guide her to the big money stash they're hinting at. There was also something about half a map. The piece of paper, along with the flash drive, that Berta took from the safe may be that. But why leave half for the bad guys to find? Lots of mysteries.

I'm still not caught up past #3. This coming Thursday I'm hosting my book club and have been rushing around chasing dust bunnies and cleaning kitchen and bathroom. As you might have guessed from time spent here on Caray and the fact that I'm a voracious reader, a neat and tidy house is not in my skill set.

Thanks for the explanations novelera. I wonder if the uncle they need to get to has the other half of the map. And if he did, maybe the bad guys already found him and that is where they got their half. I guess the daughter has a physical problem with her eyes that requires the eye drops and the cautions against too much screen time.

Good luck in your spring cleaning. I don't love housework either (is rather do my gardening), but I do look forward to times I host people other than family at my house. I get inspired to deep clean then.

Thank you, Babachita. I'll do #7 for tomorrow. I've got time. We have about 18 inches of snow here with more expected by the end of day. My school has canceled all classes today. My car is plowed in so I'm not going anywhere, anytime soon.

Dondi, sounds like a good day to do a marathon telenovela watching session as long as the electric remains on. I have a friend in RI, they're at about 24 inches already. Family on Long Island and Northern NJ are at a foot or so.
