Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Martes 6/25/19 Episode 70: A Truth Revealed

I'm Christpher Mason. The quest for truth in a world filled with fake news and people lying or keeping mum to protect themselves is often a difficult endeavor. For lawyers with ethics and a crusade it can be very trying and emotional. Some even collapse during discovery and for those with something to hid it can be disastrous.

I'm Candice DeLong. In law enforcement there is nothing worse than a cop or a lawyer to turn up dirty. It hurts the public trust and by extension the profession.

El Ciego and his goons stopped in what looked like a cul de sac. El Chivo had told El Cuervo that this was not a trap. The seven of them got out a minute or two later, pistols cocked and ready.

Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Martes 6/18/19 Episode 66: The Third Deadly Sin

I'm Christopher Mason. Greed became fashionable sometime in the 80s. That fad does not appear to have ended. Corporate greed is now in the spotlight but it's an overgrowth of the sort of personal greed that we are now witnessing. Corporate greed can destroy economies while personal greed usually destroys lives.

I'm Candice DeLomg. Greed is one of the primary causes of all kinds of crime. Greed coupled with psychological warfare is devastating to its victims.

Mexico City: Roberto walked Lucia through the offices and she talked about this being one of the happiest days of her life. Roberto was guarded through most of this as he said they should talk later.

Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Viernes 6/14/19 Episode 65: Oh, Mama

Bufete Vega:

Roberto strides unwittingly into his office, only to be confronted by his backstory. He doesn't recognize his mother at first, but once she drops the bomb he takes it surprisingly calmly. He cross-examines her like a boss, and she produces plausible answers: I left your father because he was a womanizer; I was penniless and on the street; he wouldn't let me see you. She proves she kept up on every aspect of his life by providing myriad details of his school life and subsequent career. When he asks the 64-thousand-peso question -- "Why now?" -- she tells him she just lost her last remaining relative after a long illness, and Auntie Estela made her promise to try for a reconciliation. She's believable enough, but she has that pinched mouth that doesn't inspire confidence.

They run into Victoria and Adrian on the way out, and Rob introduces her as his mother. Cara muy impactada de Vic, including a complete 180 as they walk away. Rob tells Mom to call and they'll talk. I imagine dinner with Dad tonight will be a bit awkward, especially if he turns up with arm candy.

Hotel Mala Racha:

Lorenza insists that Ric & Sofia multitask the paternity suit and the divorce proceedings. Fab says she can take everything but the tattoos; she says he can see the kid whenever; Ric says with all this agreement they'll be divorced in no time. (Who IS their client, exactly? Oh, never mind. My beanie must have slipped. It's been windy.)

Scenes combined where it made sense to do so.

Mexico City: Juan seemed happy to see Fernanda while Tatiana enjoyed sticking it to her that she had come for the party as in “Weren't you invited?” Juan told Fernanda that she needed no invitation, she was always welcome. He could not persuade her to stay. She was obviously uncomfortable at seeing Tatiana and she left, citing having too many things to do. Susanna gave Tatiana a dirty look before taking a bag to the kitchen, ignoring Tatiana's offer of help.

Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Martes 6/11/19 Episode 62: Money, Money, Money

I'm Christopher Mason. They say that money makes the world go around. It can change the lives of people who had less or who had none. It can tempt many and lead them to deceptions and crimes. In a world where upward mobility is increasingly more difficult those who have succeeded are always looking over their shoulder.

I'm Candice DeLong. Greed and envy are prime motives for crime and we've seen lots of it already. And the methods get more creative all the time.

Mexico City: Nicolás told Roberto that honesty is the most important thing, but one should not put one's feelings at unnecessary risk. He should not use his mother's abandonment as an excuse to reject the possibility of loving a woman.

Scenes combined where it made sense to do so.

Mexico City: Rocio kept repeating that she didn't want to hurt the children. She then asked for forgiveness. Daniel couldn't take this. He got up and demanded to know why she had done this. She tried to blame him because he threatened to take them away from her and play the recording of their argument before the judge [Why didn't that happen? It was seriously damning]. She could not allow that. She pointed at him and said he killed them. Carlos guided Daniel back to his seat and told the judge he had no further questions. The judge then requested closing arguments. Rocio's lawyer said that it was obvious that his client was not in control of her mental faculties or her emotionsand that this should be taken into consideration. Carlos said that it was obvious that she had killed her children and that this needed to be punished. She shot dagger eyes at Daniel, who was crying. The judge called a recess.

Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Viernes 6/7/19 Episode 60: Romance in LA; Death in CDMX

*A lovely post-victory (of sorts) meal at the rooftop restaurant is interrupted by one of Bobby’s ex-playmates. Vicky pulls back inside herself but shows how to be above it all by pasting on a smile and being decent to the visitor. Exy prattles on and on about one of the adventures she had with Bobby. Awkward. It had to do with someone stalking her electronically. She got out of it by sending a picture of Bobby and said there were going out. Adrián wants to know how they knew each other. Well, Bobby says it’s more like a friend of a friend. Bobby says he’s always at the ready to help a friend, any time. Vicky chimes in, but right now he’s very occupied. Bobby, looking at Vicky intently says, he WAS very occupied, but now he’s free. Exy says great, she’s commandeering him and will be his tour guide around L.A. He’s quite reluctant to go until Vicky gives him “permission.” He looks back at her longingly as Exy drags him out the door, maybe hoping Vicky would call him back. Adrián, who has witnessed all this wonders what it really was all about.

Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Jueves 6/6/19 Episode 59: Some Justice

Scenes combined where it made sense to do so.

Mexico City: Carlos and Nancy continued speculating on who could have attacked Rocio. She mentioned that Rocio had a lover but Rocio had said nothing about him in the hospital. Nancy wondered whether either of the children did it in self-defense but Carlos doubted this. She then carefully opened a drawer where they found multiple prescription bottles with her name on them. They were all anti-depressants. They then found a psychiatrist's business card, closed the drawer, and left to follow this lead.

Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Martes 6/4/19 Episode 57: The Mother Lode

I'm Christopher Mason. We are all taught that motherhood is joyous, sacred, and inviolable. However, as we all know there is an exception to every rule. Think of Teresa Riggi, Diane Downs, and Susan Smth. For every Niobe, Hecuba, and Thetis, there is a Medea.

I'm Candice DeLong. When women become mothers they are expected to make sacrifices for their children, not of them.

Los Angeles: The senior officer [sheriff?] continued to be stubborn and his racism was showing. He demanded to know why the European-looking attorneys from Vega Associates of Mexico city were defending “these people”. Adrian told him it was because “Despite our different countries we are all human beings and we all have rights.” They were told to wait outside for copies of the reports.

Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Viernes 5/31/19, Episode 55: Adrián and Roberto are Paired Up

*It’s not what you think. They are going to work a new case together.

*Ric and Sofia bring Camila home. Camila is very embarrassed over the whole episode of being detained for appearing nude in the streets near her house (As I recall, she was wearing a towel, so it wasn’t exactly indecent exposure. The police should have just taken her home and called her daughter.) She leaves to take a bath and get out of borrowed clothes. Ric gives Sofia a quick kiss on the cheek before leaving, but she grabs his hand and holds him back. She thanks him for being there for her. She’s very upset over what is happening with her mother. Ric says medicine has advanced and is sure she can be helped. Later, Sofia brings her mother tea. Camila says she doesn’t understand what is happening to her. She has trouble remembering things—like not knowing how to open the door with her keys. Sofia assures her that once they see a doctor they’ll know more. Camila doesn’t want to see a doctor. She’s afraid it will be something serious and won’t be able to get well. Sofia assures her everything will be alright.

*Adrian returns to the bar scene after escorting Vicky out. Bobby quizzes Addie about his family. He asks if he’s attached to anyone. Addie answers no, not yet. (Just what Bobby didn’t want to hear.)  Lorena is with Manuel physically, but is not really WITH Manuel. He apologizes for his earlier remarks to her. He was just trying to start a conversation. Lore reminds him there were many things they could have talked about, just not who she likes. She says she’s dedicated to her work and after he gets his degree and starts working, he’ll know what she’s talking about. (Points deducted from her scorecard for that answer.) After she and Addie leave, Manuel decides to ask Bobby for advice on how to get Lore to notice him. She is only interested in the important attorneys. His advice wasn’t very clear, even without a title, he had to be himself, or something like that.

Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Martes 5/28/19 Episode 52: Cool Heads, Heated Issues

I'm Christopher Mason. The road to Justice is often a bumpy one where the opposition tries to throw obstacles in the way. It usually doesn't pay to be a hothead in a courtroom where a cool head usually prevails.

I'm Candice DeLong. Sexual harassment is many times more common than anyone wants to believe. It's not just something that happens in Hollywood, either. It happens anywhere men decide they they are entitled to women who don't welcome their attentions.

Mexico: Ricardo was looking over photos and other documents related to the murder of Patricia. He suspected that Carlos had something to do with it. Roberto said that the only thing about Carlos was that he was intolerable. He invited Ricardo out to dinner but he declined. He said he would be alright in the morning; he was just tired. Roberto said to count on him for help if he needed it.

Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Lunes 5/27/19, Episode 51: Vega Attorneys Stay Busy; Win One, Lose None

*Something new comes knocking at the door of Ibarra y Paez, but that comes later.

*Cristina gets a call from a TV station. They want to do an on air interview about this video that went viral. She checks with her attorneys. They tell her it’s a GO. Cris doesn’t look too excited.

*Leo is walking along the High Line at night. He gets a call from Bobby—just to say hello. Leo loves living in NYC, but he misses his buds and all things Mexican. He asks about Ric. Bobby says he’s not doing well. Bobby asks Leo to keep an eye on Adrián. There’s something about that guy he doesn’t trust. Leo finally gets it and starts laughing as Bobby admits Adrián is chasing Vicky. He swears if he hurts Vic, he’ll kill the guy—just joking. Leo accuses Bobby of being jealous, though never in a hundred years would he have believed it.

*The next day, Blondie, who will be doing the outdoor, on camera interview, is giving Cristina last-minute instructions on how it is to be conducted. Leo, Ollie, Sofia and Adrián are with her for support. They assure her everything will turn out well. Blondie starts the interview. Cristina explains why she’s doing it. Blondie announces that other women have come forward to accuse the same man. It’s over. Short and sweet, but they got their point across.  Leo takes a call. It seems they have another victim willing to testify. Now they can proceed.
