La Fea Más Bella #285 5/29/07 More of the same with a Bang of an Ending!

Today’s Fea re-cap: Jacks schemes, Aldo screams, Alicia lies, Fernando cries

Just kidding!

We start with Jacks winking at us. Wait, never mind. He just has a really weird set of eyes.

Sexy Celso plays some games on the receptionist’s computer. Alicia “walks” off the elevator and gives her best classic telenovela performance. Alicia asks Celso what’s going on with her three times before he pays attention. She doesn’t understand why destiny has given her so many tests. Her sadness is killing her. Celso volunteers to help. He can go get her an aspirin. Alicia asks him if he’s really willing to help. Being the gentleman that he is, Celso tells her that of course he will.

In the boardroom of boredom (I still cringe when I think of Lety’s pirate outfit and the thirty odd some days we had to watch conferences from the same day occur in that same boardroom!), the executives and Jacks talk about Aurora’s mysterious disappearance. Omar wonders what they should do if she never reappears, but this moment Jacks just wants to exploit the current situation. He asks to remain informed. The execs agree.

Once Jacks leaves, the board discuss Jacks interest in promoting the program. Fernando is sure that Aurora will reappear at some random moment. Queue the dramatic music and the make-out scene on TV. Fernando is i-m-p-a-c-t-a-d-o! Marcia asks where the station got that video. The entire board is shocked about the video showing on TV. That is, everyone except Luigi. He’s more concerned about getting home and watching the new telenovela, Destilando Amor. Fernando catches Luigi before he can leave. Fernando accuses Luigi of releasing the tape. Luigi squirms and squeals in protest. It doesn’t take much force. Luigi admits to releasing the tape, but he accuses Jacks of torturing, hitting and putting him in a bad situation. Luigi didn’t want to, but Jacks almost killed him. Fernando pulls Luigi to him and consoles him.

Alicia tells Celso to forget about helping her. She turns to walk away but Celso stops her. He asks her to permit him to help her. She turns back to him and asks if he’s prepared to lie for a noble cause. It’s a matter of life and death. Alicia has to convince him that it’s just a little lie. It’s so that she and her Tomas can have a beloved baby. Celso agrees.

Lety proudly reads the newspaper. It says that Aurora disappeared and will not reappear. She is dead and buried. Aldo enters. They chat for a minute. Fernando sits in his office and does a great impression of the conversation between Lety and Aldo. Aldo announces to Lety that he found a yacht for their wedding. Lety excitedly hugs Aldo. Fernando scooches to the door. Aldo reminds Lety about when they ate lobster. This pushes Fernando (and many viewers I’m sure) over the limit. He quickly exits his office. He comes into Lety’s office stomping away and complaining. He thinks that the happy couple should be focusing less on the wedding and more on the disappearance of Aurora. Aldo flips out; his face becomes the color of his shirt. Aldo yells that his that his wedding is more interesting and then he takes out his aggression on the newspaper. Fernando says that he has two words for Aldo. (Control de ira) “Rage Control.” Aldo’s face gets redder as he says that those are three words. Fernando points out that in English it’s only two. Cover your eyes, there’s more newspaper abuse. Hey, something has to get beat up in every novela! Fernando points out that Aurora is important because with her help Conceptos will be returned to its original owners and Aldo will be free. Aldo agrees. The business has always interested Fernando and Aldo has always been most interested in love. Ah! Aldo’s a fake nice person! Aldo claims his prize and puts his arm around Lety. He says that his wedding is the most important thing and that nobody or nothing will interfere. Lety and Fernando look confused. Aldo turns Lety toward him and asks if she still wants to have the wedding. She nervously agrees. Seriously, this guy is a control freak in disguise (and in a really bright sweater)! Fernando shakes his fist at Aldo.

Fernando puts the newspaper in between Lety’s and Aldo’s faces. She pulls away and says that both Aurora and the wedding are important. They men burst into an argument over which is more important. Aldo calls Fernando’s show cheesy. Fernando calls Aldo the father of cheesy. Ha! That’s a great description! Fernando says that all weddings are the same. The only thing that changes is the cast. Fernando makes funny of how stuffy a yacht is. Aldo repeatedly repeats that Fernando is jealous. Lety finally stops the insanity. She orders Fernando to his office. Fernando reluctantly leaves. Once Fernando’s in his office, Aldo won’t stop complaining and Lety looks a little unsure.

Fernando sits in his office and at first murmurs to himself about the yacht, but his attention is quickly diverted to the kiss with Aurora. He doesn’t understand why it affected him so much. He sighs and looks at the newspaper. He sees Lety on the front page accuses him of deceiving her. He promised never to love another woman! Fernando assures the picture that Lety is the only woman for him. The picture says that she’s marrying Aldo because of Fernando’s lies. Fernando tells the picture that she is the woman that he will always love. The picture turns back into Aurora. Fernando thinks he’s going crazy, talking to a picture.

Martha sits at her desk and also talks to an inanimate object. She asks her sheep coin bank which she should eat first, her flat cake or her hot dog. Martha goes for the flat cake. The cuartel watches, but Martha can’t finish the first bite. The cuartel rushes to their non-digesting friend. The encourage her to get help. Martha promises but first she needs to go to the bathroom.

Tomas confirms to someone on the phone that he is Tomas Mora, the husband of Alicia Ferreira de Mora. It’s Celso on the line pretending to be Doctor Celso Kama sutra, Alicia’s gynecologist. Celso and Tomas start to talk about getting together to talk, but Alicia stops the conversation with a pinch. Celso yelps. He explains his reaction to Tomas by saying he was bit by a vapor in Africa, because that’s where he is. Tomas says that Alicia’s treatment can wait until the doctor returns. Celso says that’s no good, Alicia needs immediate treatment, it’s a matter of life or death. Celso says that this treatment is essential for Alicia and Tomas to be happy.

Once the men hang up, Celso asks Alicia if she liked his performance. Alicia asks Celso where he got the name Celso Kama sutra. Celso says that his mom gave him the name Celso and Kama Sutra because he saw a magazine. Luckily, Alicia interrupts him.

Martha’s back in the vortex and she’s after a chocolate bar. She catches herself and has the cuartel take it away before she can eat it. The cuartel to take Martha back to her meeting. The elevator opens and a group of reporters enters the vortex. The reporters ask for Fernando Mendiola. They want to interview him about Aurora’s disappearance.

Aldo tells Lety that he thinks there is something between Fernando and Aurora. Lety effusively insists that there is nothing between those two. Fernando scoots to the door. Aldo doesn’t think Fernando would miss this opportunity for a conquest. Lety wonders why no one will believe that Fernando has changed. Aldo accuses her of defending Fernando. Lety says it’s not that. She positive there’s nothing between Fernando and Aurora. Aldo asks Lety how she can be so sure. Fernando exits his office and asks the same question. The men quibble, but end up looking to Lety for an answer. Fernando says that the only people who know what’s going on between him and Aurora are him and Aurora, unless Lety was spying on them. Aldo agrees completely with Fernando. The reporters charge in and ask Fernando about Aurora disappearance. Fernando pulls a Lindsay Lohan and flips out at the press. One reporter points out that Aurora disappeared right after the kiss. Another reporter wants to know if there was a romance between Fernando and Aurora. Fernando, not so fluently, tries to say that there was not. The press is making something out of nothing. He mistakenly says that the kiss was real, and then tries to correct himself by saying it was a part of the show. The press has heard what it needs. They only heard that the kiss was real. One man talks to the camera and confirms that there was a romance between Fernando and Aurora. Lety passes out in her chair. The reporters says that Lety must be pregnant. Fernando rounds the desk and throws the men out of the office.

Aldo tends to Lety and talks to Fernando about what just happened. Aldo thinks that Aurora was a good lesson for Fernando. Huh? He thinks that Fernando should invite Aurora to the wedding. Lety half passes out again. Aldo realizes he’s late and excuses himself to go see Carmina. Fernando asks Aldo about who is Carmina. Aldo doesn’t explain who she is and tells Lety that he’ll see her later. Fernando turns to Lety and tries to assure Lety that the kiss wasn’t real. Lety doesn’t want to hear it. He doesn’t understand why nobody believes him. Lety assures Fernando that she believes his word. Out come all of Fernando’s teeth.

At Retro Mode, Jacks and his lackey watch a Televisa program. The announcers says that Fernando confirmed the romance. The men congratulate themselves. Jacks says he forgot the most important thing. If Aurora reappears it will ruin everything. He picks up his phone to call her.

Lety answers the cell phone. Jacks asks Aurora not to reappear or go out. She wants to know why. As we so well know, whenever something private is being said in the president’s office, the cave’s walls become magically un-soundproofed. Fernando wonders why he hears Aurora’s voice. Lety continues to talk to Jacks, pretending not to understand. Fernando enters her office and starts to look around for Aurora. He asks Lety for Aurora. Lety holds the phone away from her and says that Aurora is not there. Jacks overhears Lety’s voice and asks Aurora if she’s with Lety. Fernando says that he clearly heard Aurora. Jacks asks Aurora to answer him. Lety tells Fernando that he must be hallucinating. Fernando asks Lety if she feels okay. She says yes. He goes back to his office. Lety returns to talking to Jacks. She says that she perfectly understands and then hangs up the phone. Lety gives a cheer of joy.

Alicia walks into Tomas office. He rushes to her and helps her sit. Tomas tells Alicia that he’s worried about her. He explains the conversation he had earlier with her doctor. Alicia says that her only hope is to have a family with him. Tomas runs over to his desk and presents her with a check for the treatment. Alicia tells Tomas that he makes her happy. She says she will go change and then rush to her treatment. She rushes to the door, but Tomas tells her not to run to much. You know, for the baby’s sake. Alicia slowly exits the office.

Marcia’s now in Lety’s office and she’s assuring Fernando that Aurora will reappear. Fernando thinks something that something bad happened. Lety doesn’t think so. She thinks that Aurora is in total control. Marcia wants to know what’s up with Fernando. He says that it’s nothing and leaves for his office. Marcia and Lety stare at each other for a moment and then Marcia excuses herself. Once Marcia leaves, Lety has a “moment.”

Alicia goes to Marcia’s office, but Marcia isn’t there. When Alicia turns to leave, Marcia appears. Alicia asks to borrow Marcia’s computer. Alicia wants to look for a happiness treatment. Marcia says that she doesn’t understand, but she lets Alicia use the computer anyway. Alicia explains that she wants to look at cars because Tomas promised to buy her a new car. Marcia congratulates Alicia. Alicia insults Marcia by saying that this is what it’s like for married women, unlike abandoned women with no place to live. Alicia tries to make it clear that she’s not talking about Marcia. Marcia shakes her head in disgust.

Lola and the cuartel talk some more about Martha’s problems. They try to come up with an idea to get Martha to go to and stay at the meeting. It’s Sara who comes up with an idea, but she doesn’t reveal it just yet.

Suddenly remembering the non-soundproofness of the cave, Lety leads Caro into the boardroom. Lety happily explains to Caro that Jacks doesn’t want Aurora to reappear until he says so. Caro points out that Aurora will have to show up at some point in order to film the rest of the show. Lety says she has a solution for that. Lety thinks that if the show is a hit, then Jacks will let the show go on with another actress. Lety proclaims Aurora dead. She will never revive! Caro says she hopes so and excuses herself. Lety looks awfully proud of her awful plan.

The phone rings. It’s Cristina Maiz, the president of The System for the Families’ Integral Development (DIF Nuevo Leon). DIF Nuevo Leon is a program, mostly aimed at youth, that helps families get back on their feet and be self sufficient. For more information: http://www.dif.gob.mx/ She wants to have a video conference. Fernando rushes to the boardroom to get the equipment to have the conference.

Luckily, a computer we’ve never seen before sits in the boardroom, prepared for the video conference. Fernando tells Lety that they’re going to have a video conference. He asks her to call Luigi. Fernando has Lety help him set up the conference. The phone rings and Cristina Maiz de Gonzalez appears on the TV screen. Luigi enters and demands to know what was so important to take him from a meeting. He sees Cristina Maiz on the screen. Mrs. Maiz explains that this month they will be celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of DIF Nuevo Leon. The will also be celebrating El Dia de la Familia. http://www.diadelafamilia.com.mx/home.php She wants Conceptos to do the campaign. Fernando and Lety assure her that Conceptos can do the campaign. Luigi affirms that it will be a grand spectacle. Mrs. Maiz asks if she can make the announcement that Conceptos will be doing the campaign. Fernando says that she can announce it. Mrs. Maiz asks for Luigi personally to direct the spectacle. The two groups confirm that Conceptos will do the campaign. Mrs. Maiz says they will finalize the details later. Once Mrs. Maiz is gone, Fernando and Lety hug each other in congratulations. Luigi is left alone to start the campaign. He thinks to himself how family is the foundation of society. He starts to cry, but calms himself and rushes off to work.

The cuartel takes Martha back to her Compulsive Eaters meeting. Irmita explains to Martha that she, Irmita, spoke with the meeting leader. He told her that only Martha could accept to get help, and that the cuartel should not pressure her. Then she may be cured. Ladies, I have something to admit right now. I have a disease as well. Hello, my name is Amanda. I am a Camil-aholic.

Omar rushes to Caro who is at her door. Omar says that he has something important to tell her; he’s changed. Caro tries to interrupt. Omar says that he understands. No one believes him and he really does have a lot to learn. Omar pulls something out of his pocket and drops it. He hands it to Caro and tells her that he bought it for her. He excuses himself for not being the person she deserves. Omar kisses Caro’s cheek and scurries away. Caro opens the box to see a pearl necklace.

Fernando’s still in his cave, wondering what’s happening to him. He can’t get Aurora out of his head. Fernando pulls out the ugly Lety picture and places it next to the Aurora picture. He talks to both pictures. Fernando swears that he loves Lety. He asks Lety for a pardon.

The real Lety overhears Fernando and walks over to his door. She knocks and enters. She asks if he’s felling okay. Fernando says he’s sorry, he loves her. He thought that he would never love another woman. No he can’t stop thinking about Aurora. He asks again for Lety’s forgiveness. She tries to interrupt. He asks her to leave.

Lety stands in her office and says that she can’t allow Fernando to suffer like that. She reaches for her make-up kit. She has to tell Fernando that she and Aurora are the same person. Lety takes off her ugly make-up and asks Fernando to come to her. She wants to tell him the whole truth. Fernando exits his office and looks at her. The episode ends with a tear going down Fernando’s face.

For tomorrow: Uh-oh, will Fernando find out Lety's secret? Will Aldo follow Julieta's plea to leave Lety alone?

Zorro, May 29 – Esme goes on a diet, NN goes swimming, Olmos finds a box, Zorro finds a cellar and FS gets his fortune told.

Pizarro tries to persuade Montero not to have Esme killed. Montero is behaving like a 6 year old who had an ice cream taken away from him. Pizarro argues that they went to a lot of trouble to make everyone believe that Esme is dead and she her existence could be useful in dealing with FS or Duke Jacobo. Finally Pizarro asks Montero to at least consider his arguments.

Diego tells Bernardo that he searched all the cells and the dungeons and he could not find Esme. He thinks that maybe Montero is keeping her underground like he did with SK. Bernardo suggests that maybe Esme is really dead.

Montero goes to his quarters accompanied by Pizarro. He looks behind all the curtains and tells Pizarro to keep his voice down – Zorro could be listening. Zorro knows everything Montero does. Montero orders Pizarro to double his personal guard. Pizarro suggests politely that Montero is losing it but then Montero finds the big Z slashed into his mattress. Montero chews out his worthless guards who didn’t keep Zorro out. Montero tells Pizarro that Esme won’t be killed but Pizarro should not give her any food and let her starve until she tells him who Zorro is.

Back in his room at the hacienda, Diego tells Bernardo it was a good idea to stop at Montero’s house on the way to the prison to continue the campaign to drive him crazy. Diego tells Bernardo to keep watching Montero to find out where he keeps his money. Bernardo tells Diego that Montero paid his troops. Diego concludes that he made the payment from his own funds since Zorro stole the payroll that was sent from Mexico. Diego says that if Montero has no money, he has no power.

Esme is asleep in her cell with her friend the rat. She dreams that Diego is proudly holding a little boy when Mangle comes up and they are a happy family. Esme wakes up saying Diego’s name. She places her life and that of her unborn son in God’s hands.

Alej instructs his servant to disband his troops but they should remain alert for a call to return. Dolores comes in. Alej orders her to set up breakfast for the family including Yumalai. Dolores suggest that Yuma eat with the other servants. Alej says that he can’t do that. By the laws of her people, Alej is her protector and her husband. Dolores asks Alej to send Yuma away. This situation is going to cause problems. Alej says that he cannot send Yuma away. She would not be able to marry anyone else from her tribe and would have to live out her days alone.

In the garden, Almudena tells Yuma about her dream that Regina is waiting for her on the other side and suggest that maybe the time of her death is near. Yuma is impactada and tells Almudena that she can’t die. Almudena regrets telling Yuma about the dream.

Alej and Diego are having a pre-breakfast cocktail. Alej tells Diego that he is going into town later to sign the non-agression pact with Montero and FS. Diego doesn’t agree with that course of action. Alej says that he doesn’t like it either but it is the Marquesa’s plan to use the document when she returns to Mexico to get FS and Montero fired. Ok, says Diego but what do we do in the meantime? FS will continue to do bad things especially to MP. Alej agrees that FS won’t leave MP in peace. He suggests that he and Diego keep an eye on her to make sure she is ok. ‘What about Montero?’ asks Diego, ‘he isn’t going to honor this pact.’ ‘What do you suggest?’ asks Alej. ‘Keep your men armed and ready even when they are in their homes so that if Montero tries something, we can attack him immediately,' says Diego. Alej says that he had the same idea. When Alej leaves, Diego says that when Zorro finishes his plan, Montero will be kneeling in front of them begging for mercy.

Montero mounts his horse but sends the guards away who were assigned to protect him. He says that if they could not protect his house, how could they protect his person. Montero asks where Pizarro is but the guards don’t know.

Pizarro is with Catalina [whom we haven’t seen in a while.] It is clear what he wants but Cat is playing coy. She asks if he likes her and Pizarro says that he wants to take her away from all this, etc. etc. Cat says that she is a respectable married woman and she isn’t going off with a soldier like a common bar girl. Pizarro says, ‘We’ll discuss that later. I just wanted you to know my plan for you.’

Tobias is feeding the Maestro who doesn’t like the quality of the food. He says that he is leaving. ‘When?’ asks Tobias excitedly but the next moment the Maestro has forgotten who Tobias is. Tobias asks what else could go wrong in his life? We get the answer when Agapito comes to see Tobias. Believing that Tobias is Zorro, Agapito tells him that SK is alive and the he needs Zorro’s help to save her from Pizarro and Montero. Tobias denies he is Zorro but Agapito isn’t buying it and he begs him to keep an innocent woman from being killed. Agapito tells Tobias that SK is in a house of lepers. He leaves and Tobias wonders what woman he is talking about.

Montero asks Aguirre if he is following Pizarro’s orders not to give Esme any food. Aguirre says that he is. Montero does some gloating about how Esme will be humbled when she begging for a piece of bread.

Montero rides to an isolated cabin. He looks around before entering but doesn’t see Bernardo hiding in the bushes.

Alej finds Almudena alone and asks where Yuma is. Almudena tells him that Yuma reacted badly when Almudena told her about a bad dream that she had. Almudena asks Alej to find Yuma and apologize to her. Cut to Yuma in her room. She has concluded that the dream means that Almudena is going to die.

At breakfast Mangle quizzes Diego about the assets of the hacienda. She suggests that Diego give her a tour. Diego is not encouraging and almost immediately goes off with Bernardo. Mangle is annoyed. She predicts though that when she has ‘their’ baby, she will be able to do whatever she wants with Diego.

Olmos is in Mangle's room frantically trying to find the box that Mangle was looking at the day before but he can’t find it.

Bernardo tells Diego about Montero going to the shack alone and acting nervous. Diego concludes that Montero has hidden the rest of his fortune there and Zorro will do what he does best and take it away.

Esme is chowing down when Pizarro comes to see her. He assures her that Aguirre will bring her food when Montero is not around. Esme refuses to believe that Pizarro is on her side. Pizarro shows her the bracelet that belonged to SK and says that he hopes this will change her mind. Esme is impactada. Pizarro tells Esme how sorry he is that SK is dead but now SK’s destiny – to bear witness against Montero and FS in Spain – falls on Esme. When Pizarro is gone, Esme curses Montero and FS.

At the leper colony, SK has taken a new lease on life. She tells the leper lady, Yadira, that the gypsies have always called her their queen – now she will act like it. She resolves to find the gypsies who are probably hiding from Montero in the mountains.

At his reading, Selenia tells FS that his astrological chart is very disturbed - death, blood, betrayals. He felt much pain and caused much pain. Selenia asks if FS believes her. FS says he doesn’t know. He only knows that he will do anything to get what he wants. ‘Would that be a woman?’ asks Selenia. FS asks Selenia if MP will be his. Selenia does some trance-like stuff.

MP tells that she wants to leave LA as soon as possible, even before receiving a response to the letter that PT has written. MP wants to avoid FS’s next move on her

Selenia tells FS that his woman, MP, is surrounded by a white, celestial light. ‘Yeah,’ she’s a nun,’ says FS. Selenia goes on to tell him that MP does love FS and that she changed him. ‘Yes,’ says FS, ‘she made be believe that happiness was possible.’ ‘But you betrayed her,’ says Selenia. ‘I see blood and death.’ Selenia goes on to tell FS that MP is going far away and if she does, he will lose her forever.

Alej finds Yuma. She won’t tell him what Almudena told her. She tells Alej that she has to leave and go see her grandmother, White Buffalo. Alej is impactado and urges her to stay for Almudena’s sake but Yuma won’t change her mind. She says that she will explain everything to Almudena before she goes.

At the gypsy camp, Renzo is up and about. He looks for NN (aka Ana Camilla) and is told she went for a walk. Laisha is usual nasty self. Renzo goes after NN. NN is bathing nude in a lake in the middle of a big forest. Renzo is a voyeur.

Agapito tells SK that he told Tobias/Zorro where she was. SK is dubious that this was a good idea but Agapito is convinced.

Pizarro is unlacing Catalina’s corset. She asks about what he said that morning about taking her away. While they get on with boincking, Tobias watches them from a balcony. He is impactado.

Olmos watches through his peephole and sees where Mangle hides her box and tells himself that soon he will learn what she is hiding that makes her cry.

Zorro rides up to the shed where Bernardo saw Montero and tries to get in. Zorro finds a trap door in the shed and goes into a cellar. He says that now he has Montero.

The credits roll.

Duelo, May 28, 2007 Soledad tries to get her groove back

On Friday, Angel took off from the Puebla house on a mission to find Alina since he was the only one of the La rinconda refugees who knew that she was alive. And he wanted it to stay that way. First stop was Elias’s house. After he tells Elias that he knows she’s alive, Elias tells him she’s not there.

Meanwhile, Thelma dresses up in a white silk nightie and tries to jump the sleeping Emilio. I guess she figures that if she could get knocked up while she was unconscious and get him to marry her while he was unconscious, she might as well try to win back his love while he is asleep too. It doesn’t work. Emilio awakes with a start and tells her to cut it out. He doesn’t love her. She whines and tries to win him over but Emilio flips her over…and ges up and walks out. Thelma is ticked.

Back to Elias and Angel—Elias tells him she’s at Coral’s with her mom. Elias is worried about giving out her address since nobody is supposed to know she’s alive. Angel begs him to tell him where she is and that he will not tell anyone. Especially not Emilio.
Rodrigo is all dressed up in a suit and tie sitting on a horrible floral patterned couch in Aida’s apartment. He is telling her about this girl he met. She is so pretty and sweet—she reminds him so much of his dead wife, Elena. [Chris, maybe this is where the Elena confusion came in?] Aida asks him if Alina is married or has a boyfriend or…has a lover? Rodrigo says no, she’s a serious girl. But really he doesn’t know too much about her since she hasn’t told him her life story. And his uncle hasn’t given him any explanation as to why he has to protect her. “But, (his eyes light up) I hope that soon win her confidence.” Aida smiles broadly and says she hopes the same thing about her new patient. He’s a classic case of celotipia. Then she launches into a description of how “strong” and attractive DL is. She admits he has a problem with trust. Rodrigo warns her to be careful. “What happened to Mauricio?” he asks. Aida looks sad for a moment. “He’s with his fiancée. That’s not going to change.” Rodrigo’s got to go. He adds, “I hope that tonight’s a good night.” She wishes him luck.

Back at Casa Valtierra, Thelma and her aunt are sitting on the couch and Thelma is complaining about how Emilio still isn’t interested in her. “Whatever happened to the saying, when the dog is dead, so are the rabies?” The SA counsels patience—Alina’s been dead last than a week and Emilio was smitten with her. Thelma looks at her accusingly. “You, too think that I can’t win back the love of Emilio?” SA says no, she’s not saying give up. “Just wait—men are weak, he’ll come around.”

Elsewhere in the house, Emilio is looking in on mijito who is very cute. Holding him, Emilio tells him that only because of him has he stuck with Thelma. Thelma doesn’t deserve his love. But he, mijito, doesn’t have any of the blame. Thelma comes in, all smiles. “Emilito still isn’t asleep?” she asks. Emilio professes surprise at the name (and frankly we all are at this point). Thelma says that’s what she chose to call him. “Don’t you like it? She asks innocently. Emilio says he likes it, but he never thought about naming the baby after himself. “And what else could we call the fruit of our love?” says Thelma silkily, sitting down next to him on the bed. Emilio jumps up from the bed with the baby like Thelma has cooties. He puts the baby in the crib. “I’m going to go find Angel he announces.” Thelma says he’s gone out and she doesn’t know where he went.” Emilio acts all worried and says he’s leaving to go find him. When he’s out of
earshot. Thelma goes over to the crib and tells the baby that he’s going to help her win him over.

Over at casa Coral, Alina is dressing up to go out with Rodrigo. She’s wearing a loose fitting and low cut spangley dress with an asymmetrical bias cut skirt in a shade of light purple. Maybe Soledad recut one of Coral’s outfits. Soledad is there oohing over her pretty daughter. She asks her mom if she’s doing the right thing going out with Rodrigo. Soledad says she is, and Rodrigo seems like a perfect gentleman. Alina thinks back to their first meeting and the spilled drink and she remarks that when she first met him he seemed like a jerk. The doorbell rings in the background. “But that’s just because he suffered a lot.” Soledad asks why. “He still hasn’t recovered from the death of his wife.” Adela bursts in excitedly. “Captain Ochoa has arrived! “ she announces breathlessly. Alina kisses mom and rushes out to the clucking of Soledad and Adela. Soledad confesses that she wishes that Alina would find some happiness. She knows that Alina is still in love with Emilio. Adela, whose advice is nearly always 100% wrong tells her that Alina is young and she’ll love again. The two women go off to have coffee.

Luba is in her cave, praying to the Virgincita to protect Gaspar, who has run off to find his little cub. Luba thinks about who might be able to tell her where Emilio lives. She takes out a stash of cash and ponders this, stuffing it in her blouse. She figures out that her best bet is Rosita.

In Mexico City, Mariana has been learning to write again. She writes thank you notes to Malena and Ricardo. Ricardo complements her on being such a fine patient. Malena counters, “Just a patient?” Ricardo says she’s the love of his life. Mariana writes, “ I love you too, Ricardo!” Ricardo sits next to her and asks her if she still wants to marry him. She answers him aloud—“Yes.” They kiss.

Back to SE, There’s a standoff in the kitchen of La Riconada. Vera and Jaime are insisting that Luba murdered Flor and that she should pay. All the mountain people think so. Ifigenio agrees with them and Rosita is the only one who is defending Luba. She tells them that Luba always protected Flor. Vera says she has the evidence that Luba poisoned Flor, the bottle! Rosita continues to insist and Santos injects himself into the conversation to suggest that if Vera has proof, she should show it. Jaime says that that very day, they will go to look for her and her son.

Meanwhile, in Puebla, Alina comes out to join her date. In the background the doorbell rings again. Rodrigo smiles and tells her she looks beautiful. In the next instant, Angel comes into the room. This feels a little rushed, like he rang the doorbell once and then finding the door open, came inside. Adela isn’t there, she’s off having coffee with Soledad. Strange. Anyway, as Chris pointed out, this scene has a really awkward vibe, like Angel is Alina’s ex-boyfriend. Rodrigo picks up on it.

[A commercial for Tropico—THAT is the Galan? The guy looks old enough to be the girl’s grandfather. What is it about these old guys? Cesar Evora was an OK match for Victoria Ruffo, but way too old for the ladies in Fieras. Dreadful. At least Evora has “the voice.” This guy looks like an old hippie.]

Angel smiles but he is clearly nervous. Alina asks Rodrigo to go to the other room for a minute. After telling her she’s beautiful, Angel immediately launches into “where are you going? Who is that guy? ” Alina tells him there are a thousand things she needs to tell him but she can’t right now because she is going out. She asks him to come back on another day. She also asks him how Emilio is. Angel tells her that Emilio’s fine. “He’s still in Sierra Escondida?” asks Alina. “No, says Angel, he’s here in Puebla. Alina is impactada.

Meanwhile, Emilio, dressed like an urban cowboy runs around his house looking for Angel. Apparently he doesn’t even believe the smallest piece of information, if it is delivered by Thelma. I’d say right on, except that in this case, Angel really did go out.

Angel and Alina finish up their discussion with Angel promising not to tell Emilio that he saw her. Alina tells him that it’s for the best. He has his own life and she has to try to make hers. Rodrigo barges in and gives her his arm. She bids Angel adieu and then they are gone.

Back in SE, Rosita is lighting a candle in front of the Virgincita statue. She murmurs something about Santos and Dona Carmen going back to San Mateo and being able to visit with her Dad, who as I imagine it, is still in the local jail. There is a furious knock on the door. Rosita goes to answer it and Luba bursts in. After checking to see if Rosita is alone, she begs her to help her. Rosita chides her for walking alone in the mountains at night. Luba dismisses her concern by saying that she came with Tonkey. Luba asks her if she has the address of the Valtierras in Puebla. Rosita has it and promises to give it to her. Rosita tells her that the mountain people are forming a posse to come after her for the death of Flor. Luba stuns her with the news that Flor is alive and well and living in Puebla.

Back in Puebla, Coral walks into a room where Soledad is arranging flowers and listening to some stuffy Opera music. Coral can’t believe her ears. She tells Soledad that she likes Rumbas and Salsas. (She does a couple of shimmies for effect.) She asks Soledad if she’s ever been to a nightclub. Soledad stammers something like, not in a long time. (Given her background, I’d be surprised if ever. Recall that her male family members kept her locked up so that she had to elope with DL. Then DL held the keys). Coral wheedles her into going out with her—she has a cab all lined up, who will drop them off and pick them up. Soledad looks stiff as a board and nervous.

Back to Luba and Rosita. Rosita asks Luba to explain to her what she means by Flor being alive. Luba tells her not to tell anyone, including that (pa’guanto?) boyfriend of hers, Santos. Rosita goes back to telling her that she’s got to run, that people think she killed Flor. Luba doesn’t care what people think but she is worried when she realizes that they are going to go after her. Rosita excuses herself for a minute to get the address and Luba bounces around the room, worried about the posse and happy about Flor being alive. She yells at Rosita to hurry up.

In Puebla, Alina and Rodrigo have made it to the restaurant. She thanks him for asking her out. He mentions that she got really quiet and sad when Angel visited. Rod asks if she is feeling ill. Alina tells him, no. He asks her if Angel is someone from her past? An old flame? Alina says no, he’s a friend…and the brother of someone very special to her. Rodrigo looks disgruntled. This is getting complicated.

Cut over to Angel who apparently has decided to go on a sightseeing trip. He stops in front of a fountain and laments that Alina will never return his love. She’s been gone about a week and she’s already found some other guy. He says he can’t be mad at her. She’s always been in love with Emilio and now that she can’t be with him, she’s trying to move on. Angel thinks about how he can’t tell his brother that she’s alive. He needs to move on too.

Coral has taken Soledad to, where else? The Devil’s Cave. She comes in and her friend, whose name escapes me, the one who hangs with Luka, appears to be the manageress tonight because she busies about getting a table, chairs and booze for the ladies. Coral wants a bottle of Tequila. The bottle arrives and Coral starts dispensing it. She hands Soledad a shot and insists that she down it. Soledad does but with a face that says it wasn’t exactly the smooth, top shelf stuff.

Finally, we’ve made it over to the jail, where Don Loco has made himself king. He and his gang run into the hapless ex-Police Chief of San Mateo. After very little provocation DL punches him in the stomach. Then, he gets his guys to beat him up while he lights a cigarette.
Over at the Devil’s cave there’s music and merriment. Coral is asked to dance, so she gets up does a little turn and then sits down. Soledad, is getting into the dancing now that she’s had a few under her belt.

At SE, things are heating up, literally. The peasants have their torches and Jaime is whipping them up to find Luba and Gaspar. And I always thought he was a nice guy, if dumb. It turns out that the people already feel guilty about Flor, that nobody did anything to help her while her father was around. When Jaimie tells that she was murdered by Luba, a cry goes up. They are buying it.

Back at Coral’s Alina and Rodrigo are sittin onf the couch. Alina is worried about her Mom not being home yet. Coral and Soledad come bustling in. Soledad is roaring drunk. Coral is less so. Soledad is embarrassed and excuses herself. Coral tells Alina that she was just letting her hair down. Rodrigo smiles when Alina apologizes.

Back at Casa Valtierra, Emilio is pondering, once again, the loss of Alina an how she was his one, his only true love. Angel comes in and Emilio immediately wants to know where he went.
Over to the peasants with pitchforks. Vera is crazed and screams about revenge for Florecita. Only one woman speaks up about how Luba cured her. The crowd is now in an angry frenzy and they go marching off to look for Luba. The arrive at her cave and find her gone. They move on.

Luba, meanwhile, is on her way to San Mateo with Tonkey. She vows to tell Emilio that Gaspar is the child’s father, because no matter what Gaspar says, they won’t believe him. She gets up and moves on.

Emilio and Angel are having a discussion about where Angel was. Angel is trying to blow him off. Emilio says that he was worried about him, that he’s still sick. Besides, he didn’t think that Angel liked going out at night anyway. Angel tries to wriggle out of this conversation by insisting athat he wanted to change his habits. Emilio says, “OK, next time, lets go out together…” Angel tries one more time, I’m just trying to get a little bit independent and enjoy life.
Emilio goes off to bed and Angel thought bubbles that he’s going to spend every afternoon with Alina until he dies. That will give him a happy death.

Back to the hungover Soledad, who is getting tucked in, in bed by a snickering Adela. Alina comes in and Soledad tell her that as much as she loves Coral, she’s never going nightclubbing with her again. She asks Alina how her dinner was and Alina tells her that she’ll tell her tomorrow. Right now she has to go to bed because tomorrow begins early, with a visit to General Ochoa.

And early it is—with a brief transition, we see Alina in General Ochoa’s office together wth Rodrigo and Elias. She tells the General that she wants to accuse Orlando of rape. Ochoa tells her that she’ll have to have some medical tests to prove the accusation. Alina agrees and they commend her for her bravery.

At casa Valtierra, Thelma, SA and Angel are eating breakfast like one big happy, dysfunctional family. SA made the food. Angel says he’s going back to the doctor, to see if anything can be done to improve his condition. Thelma makes some caustic comment and Emilio criticizes her but Angel says that he didn’t have the strength to go on. Now he does. Emilio is in uniform and gets up saying he’s headed in to see General Ochoa. Thelma begs him to kiss her. He gives her a small peck on the top of her head. Thelma is displeased.

Meanwhile, Luba is negotiating with the driver of a hay truck to take her to Puebla. They agree on a price. Tonkey jumps up and rides in back with the hay. Luba says a quick prayer to the Virgincita. She asks her to protect Gaspar but interestingly she also asks her to protect THE BOX, which she calls the “spiritual life and death of Alvaro Montellano.” She then jumps up into the truck, Puebla bound. At the same time, we see Gaspar wandering around the Market Square begging for money to get to Puebla to see his little cub.

Mom missed the meeting with General Ochoa . Alina fills her in. Mom promises to be there for the tests.

Over to the Puebla Jail again, Max and DL’s lawyer are there to visit him. Max goes to hug him and the guards prevent him. It’s an odd moment and I’m not sure if they are working as his body guards or if he isn’t allowed to touch people for fear that they’ll pass him a weapon or a file. DL looks worried, but the lawyer and Max quickly clarify that Max is there to get ready to testify on DL’s behalf since Emilio kicked him to the curb.

A shot of Luba and Tonkey, walking on the streets of Puebla. The approach a big house with a front gate, rather than a front door. She marvels at how big and grand the house is. Luba asks the muchacha cleaning the floor who opens the door, if a big tall handsome guy has been by to ask about the Lady of the House. The girl is stunned by Luba’s appearance and the big dog and says no, and brushes her off.

Inside, Thelma is carrying Emilito around . He’s wearing a little white hat which is very cute. The maid comes in and tells Thelma about the incident with the strange lady downstairs. The miaid thinks the lady had the wrong house. Thelma is worried that it is someone from SE. She holds the baby tighter.

Emilio is in General Ochoa’s office. He wants him to undergo physical therapy for the wound he received and then go back to work. Ochoa tells him that Orlando is in jail. Emilio laments that Orlando deceived him. He deceived everybody says Ochoa. Just then, there’s a knock at the door. It’s a summons for Emilio to appear in Court next week, for the first court hearing in the Trial of Alvaro Montellano.

Back to Casa Valtierra—Thelma is in high gear explaining to the SA that she’s already had a visitor. She didn’t see who it was but she’s pretty sure it was Luba. Nevertheless, as she turns it over in her mind, she doubt’s it’s Luba, Luba can’t leave SE. She dismisses the thought as crazy.

Alina is walking ith Angel, she puts her arm aournd him. She asks about Emilio and Angel tells her that he’s decided to start a new life, like her. She smiles as if this pleases her. Angel asks her about her evening out. Alina tells him she wanted to tell him that Rodrigo…Angel stops her and tells her that she doesn’t have to worry about him. Alina insists that Rodrigo is just a friend and that he’s under orders from General Ocha to protect her. Alina smiles and tells him that she’s really glad to see him. Angel promises to visit her every afternoon.

Dra. Aida Loca is visiting Don Loco in jail. At first he’s calm but when she mentions that she wants to conduct some tests on him, he blows up. He’s "no lab rat." Aida tells him, it doesn’t matter what he wants, it’s about what he needs and what the truth is. In addition, it will help him with his case. She’s not there to ask him , only to inform him. He reluctantly shakes her hand and she leaves.

Finally, we make it over to Veracruz. Hugo and Alfonsina are plotting their next move.

Over at Elias’ he’s been subpoenaed to testify. The doorbell rings. It’s DL’s lawyer who has come to threaten him against testifying. He tells him that if he testifies, his life will be in danger. Elias is ticked and orders the lawyer out of his house.

In the advance for next time, we see Alvaro face his accusers, including Soledad.

La Fea Más Bella #284 5/28/07 Death of a Diva, Film at 11

Friday: Lety and Aldo, Kiss, kiss, kiss, Lety remembers Aurora and Fernando kissing, Lety=shocked, Aldo=confused, Aldo: "What's wrong?"

Today: Lety's answer: "Aldo, I love you." Quite right Lety, that's exactly what's wrong! Aldo: "Me too, I adore you." Kiss, kiss, kiss, hug. As they hug, Lety looks disturbed.

The Cuartel are walking off the elevator and gossiping…nice multitasking, ladies. PM says it's obvious that Aurora is hot for Fernando. The other ladies agree and Aldo and Lety come over in time to hear Sara say that she's sure Fernando has chosen Aurora. Aldo says that's excellent news. Marta says that now Fernando won't take Lety away from Aldo because he and Aurora--Lety starts "no, no, no"-ing. Aldo wants to know what's so bad about it, it's good that Fernando is trying to fall in love again…isn't it? Lety says that, but she doesn't think Aurora se fije (literally, "is fixed"; she means Aurora doesn't notice him or isn't paying attention to him) on him. Lola says that's because Lety didn't see how they kissed. PM says the kiss says it all. Sara says Lety's got to see it. She makes kissy noises in Aldo and Lety's direction and Aldo moves in like he's going to kiss her. Sara is startled back towards the others and everyone laughs. Juana says Lety needs to go see it. Irma doesn't think Lety's interested in it. Lety agrees that she's not interested. Well, she's the president of the company, she ought to be interested in what they're doing! Aldo takes his leave and says he'll see Lety at dinner. The gals gather around Lety, continuing to crow about "the kiss" (and I don't think they mean the one she just got from Aldo). Lety goes off to find Luigi and once she's in the elevator, PM says Lety is bien picada (really offended).

Luigi is talking to Lety about the show. He says Aurora's not that great an actress. "Well, she's not an actress," Lety says, and Luigi agrees. He says that when it came time for The Kiss it looked like Ludwica Paleta and Pablo Montero (I gather, courtesy of Wikipedia, that they are the leads on Duelo, [/shameless plug] which is recapped right here on Caray, Caray). Lety says she didn't realize…about LP and PM. Luigi says "you have to see the ear" (say what?). He says Lety should go rest because she looks pale--if she gets sick, they'll have to suspend filming and they'll get behind. Wait a minute, "Lety" hasn't been around for any of the filming, so what difference would her absence make now? Am I missing something here?

Tomás is still working on his signature, this time on a large piece of poster board. A frantic Lety comes into his office. She sings another round of "If I Keep Being Aurora I'll Make Aldo and Fernando Suffer/I Cannot Go On." She goes into her Aurora voice and says she's found a way that Aurora will never have to show up again…she'll kill her. Tomás is impactado! Closeup on Lety's determined, puckered (and not a little insane) face.

Cut to Omar, who looks like he's in a mall. He's wondering how it is that he can't come up with anything. He says it's easy to give other people advice, but not oneself. He's doing this out loud and interspersing it with "hello"'s to the other shoppers. He considers writing her a card, but he wouldn't know what to write, he's wasted his talent on others. He then considers an algodon de ferias de las rosas (is he talking about pink cotton candy?). No, something sweeter, a charamusca (possibly a caramel-type candy). No, it'll get stuck to her fingers. He decides he has to surprise her, he has to show her that he's dying to be with her again.

Tomás is having a panic attack at the thought of Lety killing off Aurora. Lety wants to know who would care if they said Aurora died. Tomás says that's not the problem, the problem is that they couldn't keep up the lie. Oh, I don't know, they're doing pretty good with the current lie, why not give it a shot? Lety is freaked out at the idea that the press might want to see the body? The coffin? Tomás thinks they will want to. He asks what happens if one day Aurora is forced to return and Lety already killed her. Lety says this farsante (fake, impostor) has already gotten her into enough trouble…and the worst of it is that Fernando thinks he could fall in love with Aurora. Tomás thinks it's funny that Fernando already fell in love with Original Recipe Lety and now he's falling in love with Extra Crispy Lety (only he said "version pirata," pirated version). He thinks this is like a movie, where a person falls in love, first with the other person and then with their esencia (essence), not their apariencia (appearance), but their esencia. Lety says this is serious, she doesn't want Fernando to keep suffering for Aurora and besides, "can you imagine what would happen if Aldo finds out I'm Aurora?" Tomás thinks that would be a great reward for Aldo for falling in love with someone like Lety--to find out that she's like the ugly duckling who turned into a swan. Lety thinks Aldo's going to be really angry because he's an honest person who doesn't like lies and if he finds out she deceived everyone, at best he'd cancel the wedding. (At best? Oh, I can think of better!) Tomás doesn't like that idea because Lety would stay single and since he's married, Lety's got to emparejar (match). Lety is having another brilliant idea. She leans across Tomás' desk and whispers, "What if I tell [JR] that I'm Aurora?" "What for?" asks Tomás. Lety says she doesn't know, but maybe she'll ask him to understand and he'll feel sorry for her and let her off the hook. Tomás doesn't think JR will do that since it's not in his best interest. He's already invested a lot of money in the show. Alicia walks in. She tells Lety she looks great in orange (Lety and I are both confused, as Lety's linebacker jacket is lavender today). She tells Lety that Marcia is in the boardroom waiting for Lety because she has an important message from JR.

In the admin area, Sara is withholding potato chips from Marta. I may be mistaken, but doesn't that violate the Geneva Convention? She's holding the bag behind her back and Lety snags a few on the way to her office. When Sara realizes this, she turns around, which allows Marta to steal the bag back. The gals give Marta a hard time and steal the bag back. Irma says she'll give them back on the condition that Marta goes with her to a "meeting" that night. Marta agrees, with the rest of the Cuartel as witnesses.

Tomás has finally fallen prey to Alicia's little scheme and is signing the check with his new-and-improved, super-sexy signature. Did I mention that it looks kind of like a doughnut with random squiggles across the front. Maybe it just looks like that to me because I was watching Paula's Home Cooking right before this and the Deen boys made doughnuts from canned biscuit dough. They cut out the centers with the top of a soda bottle and then fried them in peanut oil because Paula says it has less of a tendency to burn. But you should always use fresh oil because you wouldn't want to fry up your doughnuts in the same oil you'd just fried fish in. And maybe now I'm procrastinating because watching these scenes with Tomás and Alicia makes me want to toss the two of them in boiling oil. He points out the height of the T, and the masculinity of the A, and the sensuality of the M. He asks again about being let into her bedroom, er, her heart. She says "We'll see" and leaves the office.

Omar has found a jewelry store in the mall and tells the sales guy he's looking for a present for his girlfriend. He says he doesn't know what to get because he's had lots of other, you know, "little friends," but this is different. He asks to see a gargantilla (choker) with pearls and diamonds…and the matching earrings…and the matching ring…and would they happen to have a matching handbag? How about a belt? No, okay, how much for all this? 18,500 (I'm guessing pesos, cause the diamonds aren't that big; that would be $1716.93 today). Without the ring? 15,500 ($1483.51). Without the earrings? 12,000 ($1113.68). What if you don't give me the box? Not an option. Omar's cell rings. It's Sara calling him to come back to the office. He gets that crazy look on his face, you know, the one he used to get when he was nuts about Aurora and was about to come up with some way to turn every event into a way to see her…only this time, he wants to know if Marcia has also asked Caro to come to the meeting. He says he's on his way and sends Sara a kiss.

Back at Conceptos, Marcia, Luigi, Lety, Tomás, and Fernando are in the conference room. Marcia says the press conference is all set up. Fernando thinks it's too soon, they need two days at least to get ready. Marcia says she'll take care of the whole thing and Lety says "Of course, that's not what I'm worried about." Luigi thinks they can't appear like this in front of the media. Fernando agrees, and says they don't have anything to show yet and asks if maybe there's a decent scene from the TV show they could present to them. Luigi says he's not worried about the program! They haven't given him time to go to the salon! He hasn't had time for a haircut or a manicure! He's got to look good for his fans! What will they say if they see him like this?! Marcia tells him to get serious because JR's on his way with the periodistas (journalists). Hey, doesn't she know Luigi is the Vidal Sassoon of Conceptos--if he doesn't look good, they don't look good. Luigi gripes that of course, he's got to take care of everything, as usual, and what would they do without him? He leaves the room. Marcia says she hasn't told them to most complicated part--JR wants Aurora at the press conference. She says this like it's serious news and Lety and Tomás get a bit nervous, but frankly that shouldn't have been much of a surprise to anyone. Tomás says it's going to be difficult and Marcia says mas nos vale (literally, "it's worth more to us"; i.e., better for us to) find her and get her to show up.

PM is on the phone looking for Caro. She leaves a message with someone that they need Caro's help to find Aurora. Alicia is on the phone to Papi whining (as tears run down her face) that her brilliant plan didn't work because Tomás' I'm Too Sexy signature is nothing like his usual signature. The Cuartel are trying to listen in, so Alicia ends the phone call. Tomás wants to know if she's done with the handwriting analysis. She waves the check around as she tells him she's seen more virile signatures and doesn't think he can impregnate her. And, no, he doesn't notice that what she's waving around with his fake signature on it is a check. Tomás whines that he'll have to wait for her "fertile days" and there's some trash talk about it. Lola tells Tomás that Lety wants him at the press conference.

Lety is on the phone with Aldo whining that she didn't know JR was going to throw a press conference at them. Aldo complains that he was planning something special for dinner (we can see that he's at Casa Lety). Lety asks him to come to the press conference and he says it sounds like a fancy shindig, since Aurora's going to be there. Lety says she doesn't know if Aurora will be there since it was all last-minute and they can't find her and besides Aurora's bien sangrona (really really really disagreeable, unpleasant; Lety and Fernando have used this word to describe her before and the way Aurora's behaved you know there need to be about 20 more "really"'s--her picture is in the dictionary next to the word "sangrona"). Aldo says if it's important, he'll come over right away and ends the call. Mama asks if this means they aren't going to dinner. Papa says if Lety called Aldo it must be important and it's no harm to them to eat at home. Mama coquettishly complains that she's got such an antojo (craving) for the tostadas Aldo was talking about. Aldo proposes that they all go to Conceptos for the press thingy and then go out for tostadas afterwards. Mama goes to freshen up and excitedly tells the ironwork by the stairs that she's going to see her beloved Fernando, her ex-yerno (ex-son-in-law).

Reporters are filing in off the elevator as Lety is in the admin area anxiously telling the Cuartel that the situation is critical, they can't find Aurora. (Um, no, the situation is critical because you sound legitimately worried about not being able to find a figment of your imagination, Lety.) The gals want to know if they can help, but Lety says there's probably nothing they can do, so they ought to go home. Irma tells Lety they're not going home. Juanita says they're doing something altruistic. Irma starts to tell her it's to help Marta, but Marta comes up, so they stop talking about it and tell Marta that Lety said they could leave.

Omar is in the screening room hoping that Cara likes his little present and falls into his arms. When Caro arrives, he tells her that when he found out she was coming to the press conference he came running right away…running because he doesn't have a car. Caro flirtily says she doesn't believe him. Omar tells her that when this thing is over he wants to know if she could invite him over to her house. He says the only thing he wants is to relive that lovely moment they had together. Caro is confused and starts to ask him something, but her phone rings. It's Lety, freaking out and asking Caro to come to her office. As Caro is on the phone, Omar is reaching into his jacket for Caro's present, but when Caro gets off the phone, she gives him a dirty look and stalks off without saying anything to him. Omar wonders if he said something wrong. A collective "duh!" rises from the viewing public.

In her office, Lety is freaking out because she doesn't know what to do since everybody's going to ask where Aurora is and she's definitely not showing up. She wonders what will happen if JR gets angry because they can't find Aurora. She thinks things will get ugly. She swears that she's made her decision and Aurora has disappeared forever, no matter what happens, whether Fernando likes her or not. Once again, I'm disturbed because she seems to have fallen prey to the delusion that Aurora is a completely separate person. Caro isn't paying any attention to Lety's rant. When Lety tries to get her attention, Caro says she's figured it out…Omar's not in love with her, the only thing he wants is to sleep with her again! She pounds on the desk for emphasis and Lety shrinks back in her chair.

The Cuartel have taken Marta to a Comedores Compulsivos (Compulsive Eaters) meeting. At the podium, a woman is telling her story: "…and I realized I had a problem with the way I was eating when my family put candados (padlocks) on the refrigerator and on the alacenas (cupboards). The truth is that I was dying of hunger. One day, I ended up in the dog house, eating his croquetas (lit: croquettes; I think they mean "biscuits"). I ate all my dog's food." Marta has been covering her ears during this and storms out, declaring that she's not like that and, besides, she doesn't have a dog…the people who have dogs can stay. Irma approaches the meeting leader and asks for advice.

At the press conference, Lety's dad is complaining about watching another scene with Aurora because either the scenes or Aurora herself, or both, are indecent. Lety's mom is pointing out to Lety that Aurora is kissing Fernando. Lety looks grumpy and pets Moty (yep, he came to the press conference too). The kiss looks even steamier on the big screen than when they filmed it, but maybe that's just me. Aldo, sitting on Lety's other side says that based on the kiss, he thinks Aurora and Fernando are definitely getting along. Fernando, sitting on the other side of Aldo agrees, but Lety once again says that Aurora is not for Fernando. Caro walks out of the press conference and Omar follows her. They walk past JR and the photographer from the gossip show. JR is complaining to Photographer Guy: "I don't think this event is going to show any results. The leading lady didn't even show up. I need to create a big expectation in the public…the public needs to be anxious to see the program…that before it airs they adore Inocencio, Agent Corazon Corazon, Amor." PG says it's easy if they cause a little bit of a scandal and take advantage of Aurora's absence to create some gossip. JR considers this idea with a Lety-esque pursing of the lips.

Later, PG is talking to a couple of other press people, telling them they need to spread the news quick, like real paparazzi. He tells the (video) camera guy to start rolling.

Back at Casa Lety, the whole family's in Mama and Papa's bed, watching the news. PG appears, talking about the press conference at Conceptos. He says they've got some big gossip about the Mujer Misteriosa. He says he's got ugly news for them, Aurora has disappeared mysteriously, just like she lived mysteriously, and "they" fear for her life. Lety faints and Mama and Papa freak out. Lety comes to and says she's fine. They check to see that she's breathing, her heart's still beating, she can see, she can hear, etc. She says she's fine now and happy about the news they just heard. Mama is surprised and Papa chews her out for being happy about someone else's misfortune. Papa says that, at best, the poor woman is sick, but what if something serious happened to her? Lety says nothing happened to her, she knows Aurora is fine, but the news is going to change her life completely and she's really happy. Mama doesn't understand and neither does Papa. Lety tells them to forget it.

Caro and Omar get to her house. Caro is smiling again. She asks Omar if he wants something to drink, but he says he wants to talk to her. He wants to be with her. The other night--Caro interrupts him and says she doesn't think this is going to work because they already know each other. Omar says she doesn't trust him because she thinks he's the same Don Juan as always. Caro gives him a slightly pitying look like "well, yeah." Omar smacks himself on the forehead and says it's better if he leaves. Caro tells an absent Omar that he can't tell her he loves her because he doesn't feel it.

Casa de Mora. In short: Tomás still isn't allowed in the bedroom; Alicia tells him she needs expensive "treatment" according to her gyno; Tomás says if it's going to be that expensive, maybe he doesn't want kids; Alicia says, in that case, he can keep sleeping in the living room.

The next morning, at Casa Compañía de Tres: Marcia announces that coffee's ready and sets it down on the coffee table. She's already dressed for work. Omar comes in in his pj's, complaining that he slept terribly. Marcia thinks it's because of his conscience, but Omar shows her the choker he bought Caro. There's a mix-up where Marcia thinks it's for her and is kind of worried about it, but Omar tells her it's for Caro. Marcia jokingly tells him he's losing his "sex appeal" lately--first Aurora, now Caro. Omar asks her for advice to conquistarla (win her, seduce her). Marcia says she can't help him, but Omar says she's a woman and she knows what women want from a man. Marcia says: "It's really easy, Omar. What we want is for a man to sincerely love us." She doesn't mention that a nice face and a cute butt don't hurt either. Omar says that his feelings are sincere and Marcia says he should tell Caro, but Omar says he can't. He says everyone is telling him the same thing, but isn't there some other way to show that you love someone? Marcia looks pensive. Fernando comes in, also dressed for work, whistling, and gripes at Omar that he's not dressed yet. He asks if, on top of everything else Marcia does--clean, make the beds, cook, make coffee--does Omar want Marcia to dress him too? Isn't Omar going to work? Omar says he's going to work, but not to bug him because he's not in the mood. Marcia sweetly asks Fernando if he'd like coffee and pours him a cup. Fernando opens the paper to the front page and screams "It can't be!" He sits down next to Marcia and we see that the front page headline is "The Diva Disappeared" and under that "And she won't reappear…Aurora is dead and buried." The other front-page news is that the Oscars are a success in Mexico.

At Casa Grande restaurant, Aldo is having lunch (at least I think so, since they're drinking wine) with Stalker Chick (whose name escapes me at the moment). He's looking over something that she's written. He's going to keep the copy he's looking at and get back to her with any comments, etc. He says he'll get back to her tomorrow, but then corrects himself that it probably won't be tomorrow, since he's got to find a yacht. She asks him if he likes to navegar (sail) and Aldo tells her he loves to, he used to have a little yacht, but he sold it. They bond over their love of the sea, blah, blah, blah. It turns out that SC's dad has a yacht in Puerto Vallarta and when she hears that Aldo's looking for a yacht to rent so he can marry "Leticia" on a yacht, she offers to loan Aldo daddy's yacht for the wedding and she won't take no for an answer. Aldo ends up accepting and thanks her. I sincerely hope Aldo and Stalker Chick end up on that yacht together, sailing away over the horizon, never to be heard from again. That is, assuming her daddy actually does have a yacht and she didn't just make that up so that now she's got to go buy or rent a yacht to lend Aldo. Who knows what she's capable of in her pursuit of the Farrah-haired one.

Lety is working in her office when Caro comes in, freaking out, wanting to know if something's wrong with Lety, on account of what was in the papers about Aurora. She was so scared she didn't wait for the elevators and came running up the stairs. And this is where I finally lose my patience with the whole Aurora mess. Poor Caro! When is this going to end? She's genuinely worried that something had happened to Lety. Lety tells her to calm down and now Caro is angry. She thinks Lety started the rumor, but Lety says she was surprised when she saw the news on TV. They don't know who started it, but Lety says the news hit her like anillo al dedo ("a ring to the finger"; i.e., it fit her, it suited her) since now everyone thinks Aurora has disappeared forever.

Lola and Irma are leading a blindfolded Marta out of the ladies' room and to her desk. When they let her take the blindfold off, we see that the gals have laid out a veritable feast for Marta on her desk. Sara says they can't fight the sea and Irma says that if she wants to eat, they support her, she should eat whatever she wants. It looks like the advice Irma got last night was to try a paradoxical approach (popularly referred to as "reverse psychology"). If I'm right, they're going to encourage her to eat until it makes her sick, but I sure hope it doesn't get too graphic. JR and the Photographer Guy come in and ask to see Luigi. Irma leads them into Luigi's office. The music is trying to warn us that something bad is about to happen and the gals have picked up on the vibe. Except for Marta, who's distracted by the task at hand.

The Moras, in Tomás office, the short version: he'll pay for the treatment, he'll give her a check, but he wants to be a good husband and go with her to see the doctor. Oh no. How ever will Alicia get out of this one?

JR is pacing behind Luigi's desk. He wants Luigi to give him a copy of the show. Luigi says it's impossible, the show should be kept top secret, especially now that Aurora has disappeared. Add Luigi to the "genuinely worried" list. PhotoGuy pats Luigi on the shoulder in a rather menacing way and Luigi is starting to hear the warning music too. JR, sitting behind Luigi's desk says they need to raise a lot of polvareda (outcry) around the show so that when it airs, it's a trancazo (according to the dictionary, a "hit" in the sense of "hit on the head"). PhotoGuy earns my eternal enmity by putting his hands on Luigi's shoulders and pushing him down into one of the purple chairs in front of the desk. Luigi nervously asks if they've talked to Fernando already, because if he gets angry, oof! He's like a tarantula con alacrán (scorpion), forget it. PhotoGuy pats Luigi on the shoulders again and JR says, "Luigi, my dear Luigi, I don't think you know who you're dealing with." But the music does, and it sounds really freaked out. JR says he owns everything they've filmed and he gave them the money for the project. PG still has his hands on Luigi's shoulders and when Luigi starts to protest he "pats" him again. Seriously, I started getting sick to my stomach watching this. JR says if Luigi doesn't want to have problems with him, he'd better give JR a copy of the video. Luigi tells him not to be tan hosco (so bad-tempered) and asks why men always have their testosterone a flor de piel (skin deep; does he mean "right on the surface"?). He says they need to be clear that he's going to give them the video because they're really pressuring him. JR says he'll take full responsibility. Luigi carefully leaves his office. PG smirks. JR walks over to him and says "When you have the video [he claps him hard on the shoulder]…you already know." PG says "Don't worry, we're going to start the biggest scandal of the century." Then he tries for an evil laugh, but it comes out weird. Still, overall, that was a nasty scene.

Tomorrow: The press has a feeding frenzy.

Destilando Amor 05/28/07 Rod Stalks, Gavi Balks, Beni Talks

We begin by rehashing the big Tequila Junto... the one Mariana/Gavi ran out of the meeting jumps in her econo batmobile... takes off, Rod comes running out jumps in his luxury batmobile... leaving the car guy a wad of cash, as Rod pulls off... Isa/TWB & Minnnnnerrrrrvvva pull up in a luxury SUV... *****Think Taupe... is every TWB outfit (except for her boinking Hil outfits Taupe? "Oh I just love those CFM thigh high boots, do you perhaps have them in taupe?" "I just love that dress and I'm sure I won't need any undergarments with it, yes black is nice... but say do you have it in Taupe?" Jest sayin... the world is full of color... explore, not everything should be three shades lighter than your skin and five shades darker than your hair... the "Goldfinger Girl" look is becoming dated.

On the inside, Pamela's Pa is telling her to stop messy around with Aaron... "Oh Pa I love him"... Pa takes off. Isa & Minnie stroll in and Minnie has Aarondar going, but Aaron is way ahead of her and has NagDar on, his eyes quickly move from side to side and like a laser beam zoom right in on the Nag... Quick hide my wife is here... .Pamela the much accommodating Amante disappears... Minnie and TWB walk up to Aaron, "What are you doing here?"Aaron asks. Minnie counters, "Did it require a special invite?" "Amorcito", says Aaron giving his spouse a kiss.

TWB who is doing her version of GavDar is scanning the room... "Where is Rod?"... Aaron is quick to say Rod left, (deflecting attention from himself), where is Mariana? She left right before Rod... Eeeeekkkkkk did they leave together?

Now for some serious Tequila talk... Some guy is talking about the fine standards of Tequila and how Mexico must meet these requirements... Aaron is twitching... "Okay why are you really here?" Aaron queries crazy Minnie again... "Cause I wanted to see if you were gonna hook-up with Pamela again?". Aaron counters that is history, and now they are at a boring meeting & look no Pamela. TWB tired of the whole sham, just wants to go home.

*****This reminds me of highschool where your lame ass friend drug you to some party by telling you some guy was gonna be there and instead she lied and just didn't want to go by her self to check out some dork she was interested in*****
Oh well if you can't use your friends who can you use? I am sure this served a duel purpose 1) To check up on Aaron 2) To add miracle grow to that seed of doubt, Minnie has been cultivating in TWB's brain about Rod & Mariana...

Now then Rod is in hot pursuit of Gavi, but he has lost her... .he is despondent, parked in his usual spot, the one he rents by the month across the street from her apartment. It has a sign "reservado para el estacionamiento del pursuer " and he has the "stalker parking" plastic parking permit hanging from his rearview mirror. Well Rod is all shades of upset and having that crazy talk conversation with himself again... He has lost her, literally not figuratively.

The reason for his loss is Gavi is hangin out with Ma and Beni (the good hearted Italian) in La
Malquerida, Clarita is teaching Beni how to artistically eat salt and follow it up with a nice big shot of Tequila. Gavi laments some about poor Don Artemio, who has lost everything..due to the great Hawaiian Tequila Scandal. ****I think they many be running those "If you or a loved one drank Montalvo Tequila in the past three months, and suffer from blindness, insanity or death, you may be entitled to monetary compensation, call 1-800-Tequila... .we don't get paid until you get paid*****ads on Hawaiian TV.

Meanwhile back at the meeting, Aaron makes a dash for the ladies WC (water closet)... where Pamela, who is doing her best imitation of Strawberry Shortcake, is hiding out... Aaron tells her to come out, Minnie & Isa have gone. Pamela says that’s it, she has had it... no mas, but Aaron reptilian eyes flick and he tells her, he loves Pam and he plans to divorce Minnie... Pamela has the muy impacted look.

Rod arrives home and TWB, begins the twenty question routine... .Rod is evasive... next we see her in her Red Robe, coming into Rod's room... he is asleep and she does the "Are you asleep" routine, yeah my husband loves it when I do that, cause I want to make some point.
Anyway, she vows to stop the jealousy and can we now talk about the petri dish and mixing up our DNA? Whoa there little cowgirl... Rod says, I'm not sure I'm ready for this... Isa has this "Que the Hell?" look on her face... I gotta say here, I do agree come on, you went to the doctor. What did you think it was for? Are you now on page one in the "Sperm Donors Catalog"?... Dude on your profile I seriously recommend you lie about your SATs. Rod wants to put the idea on hold for a month or so... TWB looks none too pleased.

Meanwhile James is having a total breakdown in the local Tequila hospital... the Doctor says Acacia has had a blow to the head and is in a coma, she may die.

Months Pass

Guess what? Rod is sitting outside Gavi's apartment, well it is okay, he is in his special parking spot... Clara and a friend come out, Rod puts like three fingers of each hand up to cover his face... Oh good disguise dude..well it appears to work... Rod gets out and going right past Gavi's neighbor, goes to her apartment and rings the bell. Gavi and Beni are inside whipping up some Chicken Parmesan... Gavi answers the door and after some arguing, she lets him in... Gavi explains who Beni is... the guy who saved her in Paris and gave her money to go find Rod in London. Rod looks so fourteen, but he thanks Beni and they shake hands... Gavi & Rod go downstairs and have yet another little argument on the street... Rod is in full crazy mode he grabs Gavi and kisses her, she pulls away and she dives right into the kiss. He begs her to tell him that she loves him. Haaaa, you will never hear those words from me, she answers. She turns to leave and go back in, but gives him another quick peck... .

Rod is standing on the street, grinning and saying she loves me she loves me... .He then ****and trust me I am shuddering as I type this**** kisses his own hands and rubs them all over his face... So is this what a fan looks like at a Jaime Camil sighting? I fear Rod will never wash his face again... .

As this is going on... TWB is having lunch with Sofia at the club... the girls are wearing Tennis White, what no taupe? Anyway, TWB tells Sofia that Rod has put the brakes on Insemination Central... .Sofia says "As if, just go behind his back and use his spunk, he'll be happy you did". Even TWB has a oh no you didn't... look on her face... .Oh Sofia how come when Aaron is a Rat it is fun, but you just come off as dried up and hateful?

Now to the long term care hospital in Tequila... James has used this passage of time to grow a manly moustache... he is talking to Acacia who is still in a coma, but adding insult to injury, she now has a tube shoved up her nose, I'm not really sure why. Maybe it is dramatic license, so we know she is really not up to snuff. James loves her, can't live without her... he seems to be a bit down over the fact that she just lays there. He tells her about the peanuts... ****I looked this up, it takes a crop of peanuts like 120 days, I feel like he has been waiting to grind out that first jar of Skippy's for years now****

Meliton is busy maintaining his drunk demeanor in the Cantina, all the patrons look pretty happy, cause while they have to listen to the town's drunken incestuous rapist, they are spared listening to "The Best of Gavi, Vol I". I believe Meliton may be trying to pin the blame on James.

Rod is driving down the streets of Mexico City, talking to his best friend Rod... She loves me... blah blah blah, grinning showing off those pearly whites (which actually are far more in proportion to his head than Aldo's mighty LFMB chiclets); why he is just gonna dump TWB & marry Gavi.
Rod is called to a lovely luncheon with TWB's parasite parents. TWB takes Mom away and Dad proceeds to drill Rod about staring a family. Rod says a kid is a lot of responsibility, Dad says hey, TWB's Ma and I almost divorce before she was born... I was boinking someone else and then wifey got pregnant, well that certainly straighten out my priorities and we have been blissful ever since. Dad also through in some blather about his business and I think Rod may be going to be fleeced by the parents as well as the daughter.

Back at Gavi Acres, Beni is like well... if you love him... But Gavi says the love can not be... he is married. Beni, being an Italian and on a first name basis with the Pope, informs her that a divorce would be no problemo as they have not consummated the marriage... .thus grounds for an annulment... .

Back to the Hospital... James comes in and says it is only 15 days until Christmas and he has a present for Acacia... he has a music box... it begins to play... we see the television screen in her head where she is thought bubbling the time James gave her the other music box. Acacia moves a finger. James goes wild, the doctors come in and pull up an eyelid, shining a light in her eyes. She has reaction to stimulus... Egads it is a miracle, her eyes open, but she just lies there staring straight ahead, really pretty much like she normally looks.

Now Rod comes into the office and he is all excited and happy, the office is decorated for Christmas... Gavi was had the whole office area decorated and Rod's office too has been decorated. Rod gets a phone call from James with the good news... he tells Rod about Acacia coming out of the coma. Well good friend that Rod is, he take this as a sign that James would love nothing better than to hear endless dribble about Gavi & Rod, yeah I'm sure that is why he called. Gavi comes in and Rod tells her that they are going to have to work late to finish the end of the year balances. She says okay... .Rod is certain that tonight he will demonstrate his love... .
Oh I am cringing again...

Shout out to Rod Stewart
Tonight's the night
It's gonna be all right
Cause I'm in love with you girl
Ain't nobody gonna stop us now
C'mon angel my hearts on fire
Don't deny your man's desire
You'd be a fool to stop this tide
Spread your wings and let me come inside

Rod looks like the geeky freshman in Nat'l Lampoon movies who thinks he is the "Love Master" and he is gonna get some... .

In Gavi's office she is in a conversation with Don Artemio, who on the other end looks like he is one noose away from climbing up on the chair and hanging himself... Gavi tells him to just hang on a little longer, everything will be okay...

Onate slips in and she signs a paper to ship 400,000 thousand liters of Tequila to (I think the Middle East), maybe I am wrong about the location... .Cause hey aren't they Muslim, no alcohol?

Isa goes to the doctor and tells him to get that bun in her oven... like yesterday, the doctor say that is impossible, cause they have to wait tell the right time and he is going on vacation... Scary TWB comes out and says she must get pregnant NOW..

Onate slips the invoice past Rod also. Rod tells Elvira to send everyone home early cause he has to work on the balances with Mariana... Elvira has this "Yeah Balancing her on top of the Desk" look on her face... Elvira speed dials TWB and fills her in.

TWB simply will not put up with Rod switching Mariana for Gavi... she will stop this. She calls Rod and starts questioning him about tonight... he hangs up on her.

Meanwhile Aaron has come back from Miami and Onate fills him in on the balances problem... Aaron questions Rod, asking if Rod is looking for a little fling with Gavi.

Gavi goes home and Clarita gets her Christmas present as bigscreen TV to view the TeleNovelas and they are going to give the old one to Dona Jose (the lady who helped them when they came to Mexico City).

Tomorrow... .looks like TWB (in Taupe) and Sofia (in a conservative black cardigan and white turtle neck) are gonna crash the party.

*****Disclaimer, to anyone wondering about the taking of sperm, well Young and Restless did this several years ago... with the sperm that made the rounds in Geona City, the female was never forgiven, by the viewers... just go to the Young & Restless site on TeleVision without pity and search on "Sperm Pig"... viewers never forgive or forget... ****

Duelo Friday May 25 - Don Loco is the new boss of jail

I feel like I’ve been away for a loooong time. Nice to see that Alina still believes in tight low cut shirts.

We get the scene again where Dario grabs Alina and somehow the phone dialed and then fell to the floor.

Next, some tough guys tell Don Loco that they are here to ‘welcome’ him. He pulls out a wad of cash to pay them off. Not smart. “Hey you big group of tough guys, check out how much cash I have!” One guy goes for it, the leader of the pack says no way dude, the boss will not tolerate that. The guy who wants the cash says yeah, but this guy pays more than the boss. Don Loco tells them they should get a new boss (him) and be done with it.

Angel and Emiliooo discuss returning to Puebla for Angel to get more treatment. Angel hopes that he can see Alina, but doesn’t tell Emilioooo that of course.

Luba cries over a sleeping Gaspar and talks about his little baby looking so much like him. She really starts sobbing.

Emiliooo finds Santos working late, he tells him to go rest. He tells him that they are going to Puebla in the morning. Emiliooo tells Santos that he is jealous of his happiness with Rosita. Santos can’t believe that Emiliooo is jealous of him, but whiny Emiliooo explains how he wishes he could marry Alina and be happy forever. He loves her with all his soul. Awwww. Whatever.

Some guy who I guess is Rodrigo listens on his cell phone and is confused. Back at Coral’s mansion, the ladies are all tied up, straining against their bonds. Alina is also straining against her shirt. Coral dramatically proclaims that Dario will be sorry for what he has done. Let me start a cliché count – that’s 1 so far. Dario prances around the room being manly and villain-y. I’m not blaming it on his pink shirt, but his walk looks a little feminine, for lack of a better word. He looks a little light in his loafers. Perhaps Granillo should be involved here somehow? Dario tells Coral she has to sign some papers, I would guess to give the fortune to him, or he will start killing them one by one. Just then, Rodrigo busts in and rescues them, holding Dario at gunpoint while his buddies free the ladies. From their bonds, Alina is still straining against the shirt. That battle will continue for some time. Alina gets all weepy so that Rodrigo has to provide some one on one comforting.

Emilioooo stops at Alina’s grave on the way out of town to drop off some flowers and cry some more. He actually tries out a couple different facial expressions here, his crying face is that same constipated look that some of these actors get when they try to be sad or angry. He picks up the white cross, I see it says ‘Florecita’ on it. I hear a ton of voices in the background, but nobody shows up. Perhaps that was some behind the scenes error. Emilioooo weepily says “goodbye forever” and rides off.

Rodrigo shares some happy moments with his daughter before she goes to school. Cliché count #2 – the “studly guy is just a regular guy like you and me” routine. The servant comments how happy he looks, he denies being happy, “it’s just work.” I can’t hate the guy for having a spring in his step, even the best of us can get distracted and carried away with too much exposure to a tight low cut shirt.

Orlando talks to himself about how he’s going to get back at Thelma. The doorbell rings, it is his army buddies, who grab him up and tell him he’s under arrest on orders from the general, who will explain the charges.

Gaspar wakes up and wants to know what happened. He wants to see his baby. Luba tells him that Emiliooo took the baby away already. Gaspar runs off to catch them.

Angel, Thelma, SA, and the baby all get into the carriage. Finally Emiliooo says goodbye to Santos, Vera, and Mexican Larry, then he gets into the carriage and off they go, right into a commercial.

Another great Asi es la Vida commercial. I have no interest in watching the show, but I love the commercials.

Puebla jail – the guard tells Don Loco he has a visitor. Strange, the guy just lets DL out of the cell without handcuffing him or anything. The visitor turns out to be Hugo, all dressed up like Forrest Gump, with a straw hat and everything. Either that, or he got lost on the way to filming the Mexican version of Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? DL stares at him while Hugo grins like an idiot.

Mexican Larry confronts Gaspar on the lawn outside of the house. ML tells Gaspar that everyone left already. Gaspar runs off to try and catch up with them. I was expecting to hear some six million dollar man music or something, or the effect when Clark runs real fast on Smallville. But no, nothing like that. Just Gaspar running out of some trees and yelling, then falling down. Nobody in the carriage hears him. HA – inside the carriage Thelma is sitting next to Angel, she’s talking to the baby and Angel coughs. She shoots him a dirty look and tries to scoot away. Emiliooo tries to look dramatic as he thinks. Gaspar continues to chase, then falls to his knees and screams out loud, just like Andy in The Shawshank Redemption when he finally breaks out of jail and tears his clothes off in the river and lets the rain fall on him. If some rain fell on Gaspar right now, that would have been awesome.

Turns out Hugo isn’t wearing a straw hat, it’s just a cowboy hat with the sides almost perfectly flat, I got fooled in my quick look before. DL wants to wring his neck, but the guard stops him. Hugo proposes that for a sizable chunk of DL’s wealth and estate, Hugo will in return testify on DL’s behalf. DL says no way. Hugo says fine, he’ll testify against him then. He mentions some specific crimes he’ll be sure to bring up later.

Luba finds Gaspar and tries to comfort him. She tells him about the baby, but I’m not sure how that’s supposed to make him feel better, that would only make him miss him more. Luba says forget the baby, we’ll never see him again. Gaspar won’t give up. Gaspar does a good job of blubbering all snotty and drooly, very convincing.

Vera is happy for Santos and his new job. Mexican Larry tells him that there is a lawyer here from Puebla looking for Don Max, Santos says he’ll see him. The lawyer is surprised that Max doesn’t work there any more, he thought Max was the owner. Santos tells him that Max was stealing. The lawyer is happy to hear it, somehow this helps him in whatever he’s trying to do, I didn’t quite understand that part. He smiles a slimy smile.

Hugo and DL have some conversation that I didn’t understand at ALL, and my dictionary Mrs. Ferro isn’t close by to consult. DL said something negative to Hugo, who laughed and said that’s the donkey talking about ears, like the pot calling the kettle black, then I didn’t get the rest. I think DL is going to have to give in to Hugo’s demands, he’s just going to piss and moan first.

Rodrigo tells Alina that he was just doing his job. Alina wants him to talk to her como tu, not formally. He starts flirting with her. She says something about a story and he asks to hear it. Also, Alina is doing battle with a different color of the same shirt today.

Soledad and Coral walk into another room and Soledad says please God let Alina forget about that loser Emiliooo and fall in love with this guy. Coral agrees. Maybe they will decide Alina’s life for her like the brothers Montellano did previously.

Apparently DL has given in, Hugo tells him that Alfonsina will testify for him as well. “Oh wait,” he says, “one more thing – remember that cofre? Yeah that. I saw what was in it. But never mind, that can wait until later. Have a GREAT night!” Ha that was awesome, he really twisted the knife in DL’s side with that. DL looks like he got punched in the gut, he mumbles about the cofre. Also, Cliché count 3 – in his mumbling, he says “If he thinks etc etc, he is wrong, dead wrong!”

The general tells Orlando how disappointed he is, Orlando tries to make excuses, blaming it on Emilioooo hating him, he’s out to get him. Orlando wants to confront Emiliooo, the general says that isn’t necessary, he knows another person who can confirm the accusation. Orlando wants to know who. I imagine this will all lead to Orlando having to confess that he couldn’t get it up and never raped Alina after all, thus leaving her a pure virgin and worthy of marriage to Emiliooo, who by the way has screwed every chick in sight over the last few years. Somehow that is supposed to make sense I guess. Whatever, it will be cool to see Orlando have to admit he couldn’t perform.

Alina doesn’t want to tell Rodrigo her story, too much pain. He understands, he says. She wants to know if he is married. He has a flashback to driving with a woman in a car, then there are some screeching tires, horns honking, he’s tired and rubbing his eyes, then he falls asleep at the wheel and runs into the other lane on the highway, he ends up getting stuck between the guardrail and a semi truck. Obviously, this his how the wife died. Back in the present, he tells Alina that he doesn’t want to tell his story either.

The general won’t tell Orlando who the other person is. Orlando is now under arrest.

Coral and Soledad talk business. Soledad says someday she will repay Coral, someday when she gets her own money back.

Gaspar packs a bag to run off after his kid. Luba tries to stop him. He claims that he sees a rat, that distracts her, then he runs out. I can’t believe she fell for it. Oh – related story – yesterday my wife, son, and I went to Rockford, IL to visit my grandpa, as well as my parents who were also visiting. When we got to town we first went to the Burpee Natural History Museum, where they have a skeleton of Jane, a juvenile T-Rex who was found in Montana a few years back. After looking at that, we went into the snack bar to get something to eat. When my seven year old son went to throw something in the garbage, he glanced into the recycling bin and started freaking out, he said “A mouse!” I was out of the room in about .005 seconds. I am a complete and total wuss when it comes to rodents. The girl who worked at the museum apparently has a pet mouse so she wasn’t afraid, she went and rescued the mouse and set it free outside. Bleah my toes are curling now just thinking about it. Anyway, I thought it was funny that Gaspar saying ‘rat’ made Luba go look for it, when if it was me I would have been sprinting the other direction. True story.

Mexican Larry and Vera talk about how great Santos is. Then he leaves to go talk to the people to get them to start a lynching party to go after Luba for causing Alina’s death.

Rodrigo takes a phone call. Ugh he and Alina are being sickeningly sweet with each other. Barf. It’s the general on the phone, to talk to Alina. He wants Alina to come to the office and file a complaint against Orlando. Rodrigo wants to know what she accuses him of, surprisingly Alina admits it right away, that Orlando raped her. Despite the complete lack of physical evidence and despite her having no memory of it happening. I’ve never heard of a rape accusation stemming solely from the alleged rapist claiming to have done it and nothing else. Even confessed killers get turned away if there isn’t any evidence of whatever murder they claimed to have committed. Remember the creepy guy who claimed to have killed JonBenet Ramsey? He got sprung, the evidence didn’t fit. Yes, I have been watching a lot of the CSI shows lately. If you aren’t watching them, why not? They are AWESOME. Anyway Rodrigo gets all impactado at the news from Alina, like now he doesn’t see her the same way. Grow up loser.

Luba chases Gaspar down a dirt trail, trying to get him to come back. Donkey is there too, just hanging out, not choosing sides. Suddenly they are confronted by Mexican Larry, who has a big gun slung across the saddle of his horse. He wants to know where they are going.

Rodrigo says he can’t believe there are men like that in the world. Well, maybe he isn’t blaming Alina for it after all, we’ll see if his interest in her wanes. She says she can’t forget the shame of it all, he says he’ll help her forget. I guess he’ll be ok with her after all. He wants to take the sadness out of her eyes.

Orlando claims that what is happening is an injustice. His guard gives orders to clean up the horses and some other stuff. Cliché count 4 – villain tells his evil plan out loud to no one. Orlando says to the air that he can’t wait to be face to face with Emiliooo and spill all of Thelma’s secrets.

Luba ably defends Gaspar and tells off ML. ML finally accuses her of killing Alina with green venom, does she deny it? For now, she just juts her chin out at him.

Rodrigo tells Alina that she looks better, she says she feels better. Still battling with that shirt, but feeling better. She says that talking with him helps her, he says at least he’s good for something, huh? Uh yeah dude, that and SAVING HER LIFE. Don’t get all self-deprecating and putting yourself down to appear humble just to try and get that shirt off. You are a badass soldier, you are a sickeningly sweet father and nice guy. You are going to get together with Alejandro from Heridas de Amor later and read poetry. You are Cliché count 5 – guy who is way too perfect to be believable. Don’t talk down about yourself. Rodrigo is going to leave, but Coral appears and stops him, saying that he surely isn’t going to leave Alina here alone, is he? He takes this opportunity to invite her to dinner. She is an idiot, so she keeps saying no, even with Coral and Rodrigo saying over and over “come on, you really should, live your life like before, c’maaaaan.” Finally Rodrigo says well, she must not want to go with HIM, that’s the problem. She says of course not, como crees, ok fine I’ll go. Well played, Rodrigo. I was all over you for taking that angle but you have immediately proven me wrong. The self-deprecation may be your ticket into tight shirt land after all. Nice work. Everyone grins like idiots.

Luba tries to play dumb, but Gaspar spills about what green venom he’s talking about. She finally runs ML off by threatening to put a hex on him. He swears to be back with some others to back him up. Maybe he’ll find some more gold chains while he’s at it. Luba says she isn’t afraid. Gaspar asks her after that, you aren’t really a bad witch are you? She says no. She wants to go home, but he says no and runs off after the baby. She decides she has to help him.

The lawyer that was looking for Max checks into a hotel. As he turns to walk away, who should walk up but Max himself. The lawyer introduces himself as Don Loco’s lawyer, Max is very pleased to meet him.

Alina tells her mother that she’s going to go to dinner with Rodrigo, Soledad starts in on her immediately about forgetting Emiliooo. Soledad is a dummy, she’s pushing too much too fast.

Max tells the lawyer that he is innocent of what Emilioo accuses him of. He says tragically the hacienda account books were burned up so there is no evidence of right or wrong. The lawyer nods knowingly. They decide to head off to Puebla and see how they can help Don Loco.

I see from the commercials that La Fea is in ultimos capitulos – somehow I thought that show would be on forever. It was actually a bit alarming to see that it is ending. It may allow my wife to have her life back though, for that show to end. Unless she gets sucked into the next one.

DL gives some guy cash in the wood shop, to pay the other thugs and make them his own crew. Just to show he’s the boss, he sends the guy off to buy him some smokes. Some other guy comes up saying small world DL, I knew I’d run into you here. The guy apparently worked for DL previously and got busted during that work and sent to prison. He accuses DL of being at fault for it, DL says no way, then tells him to sleep with one eye open. The guy sasses back, DL punches him out and leaves him on the floor. The guard by the door just looks the other way.

SA is VERY glad to be home. This is the biggest smile on her I’ve ever seen, and she’s a smiley one. Emiliooo says he’s tired and then turns down Thelma’s offer of a massage. She puts on a great happy mother act in the presence of others. After everyone leaves and Angel is alone, he thinks out loud to the air about how he needs to figure out how to find Alina. The captions call her Elena. Doesn’t the same person/people make these captions each day? How could, after all this time, that person suddenly just write ‘Elena’? This must be bargain basement caption writers. I need to see if I can get my wife a job writing captions from home, that would be a great work from home job.

In the prison yard DL tells one of his thugs about the guy he’s having trouble with and wants him handled.

Elias reads a book and beats himself up for falling for Soledad again, feeling very sorry for himself. The doorbell rings, it’s Angel, looking for Alina. At the mention of her name, Elias is super slo-mo end of show impactado.

Monday – Alina does battle with a tight low cut dress as she heads out to dinner with Rodrigo. As they leave, wet dog looking Angel shows up. Alina reacts like he is some ex-boyfriend, which leaves Rodrigo looking extra confused. That dude has no idea what he’s getting himself into.
