Doña Barbara, Mon. Apr. 27 - Maurice makes some calls; Gonzalo calls on Sapo; Antonio calls Gonzalo a traitor

Marisela tells DB about what she overheard in Gonzalo's office and that she is afraid for Santos and for DB.

The guards tell Santos that the owner is not living in the hacienda. Santos leaves him a note. He sees a plane coming in to land.

Pajarote tells Néstor that Genoveva is his woman. They are about to fight when Geno tells them to stop. She says that she can't stand Pajarote and he is the biggest lout of all. Geno leaves and Pajarote follows her.

Marisela tells DB that she doesn't know what do next. DB doesn't know either. She tells Marisela to be her usual smart self. She is happy to have an ally like Marisela.

The woman at the bank tells Carmelito that only the account holder can take out such a large sum of money.

Santos tells Andrés that is sure that Gonzalo and Sapo are involved in narco trafficking. Since the local authorities are involved in the scheme, Santos say that they will have to go to the national government. He doesn't have any contacts in the government but he knows someone who does.

Sapo is angry when he finds out that Santos has discovered where he is hiding out.

Marisela tells DB that she has to think of something soon because she doesn't want to marry Gonzalo. He almost makes her puke when he kisses her and he wants more. DB says that she won't let Gonzalo lay a finger on Marisela. She will think of something.

Pajarote follows Genoveva back to her office. He is angry that his woman would go out with another man. Geno says that she isn't his woman. She says that she made a mistake and slept with a big stupid bird ('un pajarraco tarado') but that's over with. Pajarote asks if she didn't like it when he blew up her balloons. Geno says that the only balloon is him - his head is full of air.

Genoveva and Pajarote stop arguing to listen to Gonzalo and Antonio's argument in Gonzalo's office. Antonio tells Gonzalo that he now believes what Santos told him about Gonzalo being corrupt.

DB tells Marisela to let her know if she sees something that DB can help her with but now she has to return to El Miedo. Marisela says that she is glad that she isn't alone. DB says that she is afraid for Marisela but is also so proud of her bravery and regrets that she wasn't the mother that Marisela deserved.

Antonio says that his conscience is clear and resigns. Gonzalo says darkly that Antonio will regret what he is doing. Marisela returns to work as Antonio storms out of Gonzalo's office. He orders that Marisela and Genoveva leave with him but Marisela says that she is staying.

Carmelito and María Nieves are in a bar trying to decide what to do. Leon is listening.

Gonzalo is telling himself that the photo of the rapists is valuable when he gets a call from Sapo saying that he has Gonzalo's payoff. He wants Gonzalo to come and get it and Gonzalo agrees.

Marisela tells Antonio that she doesn't believe a word he is saying about Gonzalo. Gonzalo meanwhile is listening to Marisela defend him. Marisela says that she has no reason not to believe Gonzalo but she can't say the same for Santos. Naturally, Antonio can't believe that Marisela could betray those she loves. When the guards come to escort Antonio and Pajarote out, Geno asks if Marisela is crazy. Marisela tells Geno to keep her word and not say a thing to anyone. Gonzalo comes out of his office and says that Marisela has done very well.

DB is angry to find Eustaquia still at El Miedo instead of at La Chusmita. Eustaquia replies that she so close to being dead already that it doesn't matter. DB tells Eustaquia that she is worried about Marisela. Her daughter is in danger and DB can't proctect her. DB says that she has to accept Marisela's sacrifice for her because otherwise she is finished.

Maurice receives Santos in a bright orange caftan. He guesses that Santos is there to ask a favor of him.

DB sends the women at El Miedo to La Chusmita and tells her men to guard the place carefully. She sends Juan Primito to keep watch in the tops of the trees and warn her when the enemy comes. Eustaquia doesn't want to go but DB insists.

Maurice arranges a meeting for Santos with the Minister of the Interior. [I think this is the Minister that Sapo already suborned.]

Antonio tells Cecilia that Marisela has defended Gonzalo and is planning to marry him. Cecilia says that she has to talk to Marisela.

JP sees a guy spying on El Miedo. DB tells Melquíades that she is all alone. Melquíades replies that she has him. He will never leave her. DB says that they are alone. Before, she had the forest gods. She gave up her old gods to worship the white-man's god and since then things haven't been going well. JP comes in to report on what he saw. Melquíades goes after the spy.

Santos tells the Minister that he is sure that the regional government is involved with the drug runner but he has no proof. He asks the Minister to send someone to investigate quietly.

DB goes to the pozo at night. After flashing back to her passion with Santos there, she says that this is where her power is.

Gonzalo has come to get his money from Sapo. Facundo arrives to say that DB killed the watchman that they sent to El Miedo.

DB uses a melon to call on the gods of her mother to come and help her.

Antonio tells Santos that he was right about Gonzalo and he has quit his job. He also tells Santos that Marisela is going to marry Gonzalo in a week.

Doña Bárbara - Fri., Apr. 24- DB finally is honest with Santos and Marisela about Sapo; Antonio and Cecilia finally are in bed together

Santos says that he knew Fidel Castell was El Sapo. He asks why DB is telling him this now. She replies that all the bad things that have happened in Progresso are being arranged by Gonzalo and Sapo. Santos says that he doesn't understand what Sapo has to gain by ruining Santos' reputation. DB tells him that Sapo promised to destroy everything DB loves and he knows that she loves Santos.

Marisela tells Gonzalo to treat her with respect. He asks what game she is playing at.

Cecilia and Antonio are in bed together finally. Antonio says that he can't believe he is with her again. He thinks it might be a dream and that he will wake up and find her talking about repentance and all the things she said before. Cecilia says that the time of doubts is over. She knows that he is and will always be the love of her life and she won't lose him. She says that even Lucía admitted that they were made for each other. She laughs about how corny (cursi) that sounds.

DB tells Santos that she doesn't know where Sapo is living but she senses that he is close. Santos accuses her of lying to him again. DB replies that she has lied and done terrible things but they were all done for love and that love is the only thing he can't doubt. She swears on the love that she has for him that what she is saying is the truth. She warns him to be alert and not to trust anyone. She says that if something happens to him, she will die because he is her only reason for living.

Marisela tells Gonzalo that she is just trying to rebuild her life. When she tells him that she is trying to forget Santos, he starts acting rude. She asks what happened to the nice, loving Gonzalo she knew before. She says that he isn't the same and asks if power has corrupted him. Gonzalo replies that Marisela has changed, too. She isn't the innocent girl she was before. She has learned how to lie and he doesn't trust her. Marisela asks how she can regain his trust and Gonzalo says that he can sleep with her.

DB tells Eustaquia that she is concerned that Marisela has gone back to Gonzalo. She doesn't understand why she would do something like that. She suspects that Marisela is up to something.

Santos tells Andrés and Cósme that he is concerned that Antonio is on Gonzalo's side. He says that Antonio is standing between two trains on a collision course and the worst thing is that he doesn't even realize it.

Antonio tells Cecilia that he can't stop thinking about what the health inspector told him. The more he thinks about it, the more doubts he has.

Santos tells Andrés and Cósme that Gonzalo and Sapo are behind all the things that have happened in Progresso. They asks if he has proof and Santos admits that he doesn't have any but he believes what DB told him.

When Eustaquia tells DB that all days at El Miedo are hard, DB replies that when Santos lived with her, there were luminous, happy days. Eustaquia tells DB that she should resign herself to the fact that those days won't come back. DB says that she will never do that. "I know," says Eustaquia, "I just just talking nonsense. You will never change..." "Until the grave," finishes DB. (Eustaquia says the first part of a rhyming expression in Spanish, 'genio y figura..' and DB finishes the rhyme, '...hasta la sepultura.' The English equivalent of this is usually rendered as, 'the leopard can't change its spots' but you can't split it in English the way DB and Eustaquia do in Spanish.)

Andrés and Cósme ask how they can prove that Sapo was one of DB's rapists. Santos says that there is a picture of DB's rapists. He looks for it in his desk but of course it's gone.

Marisela says that she made mistakes with Santos that she doesn't intend to make again. She tells Gonzalo that she is either a wife or nothing at all. She tells him that she will never be his lover. "But you'll be my wife, right? If that's so, then it's what we both want." He tells her that they should get married in a week. "Sure," says Marisela. She tells him that it is late and has to go. She gives him a peck on the cheek and leaves.

Marisela returns to her room and tells Genoveva that even though Gonzalo disgusts her, she is going to marry him in a week.

Cecilia and Antonio have some happy slap and tickle in bed. Cecilia tells Antonio that baby Lucía is going to be beautiful. Antonio says that she and Toñito are going to be very well raised by him and Lucía.

Marisela defends her decision to marry Gonzalo by telling Genoveva that she has to find out what he is up to. The people she loves are in danger and she says that she will do anything to protect them including getting married.

Gonzalo gives Marisela her ring back and says that she has to wear it all the time. Geno says that she is afraid for Marisela. She says that Gonzalo will kill her if she leaves him again. DB comes in and asks to see Gonzalo. When Gonzalo tells DB that he and Marisela are getting married in a week, she asks why so soon.

Gervasia asks Carmelito not to go to San Fernando but he says that Santos asked him to go. He says that nothing will happen. He says that they will only be apart one night.

Someone photographs Cecilia and Antonio kissing in his car. Cecilia goes inside her house [and yes we do have a new Toñito. He's not nearly as cute as the old one] and tells Casilda that she is happy and is going to love her man and her children without fear.

DB and Gonzalo put on a performance on for each other. DB tells Gonzalo that she's come to find out what is going on with Sapo. Gonzalo says that after his house got shot up and set on fire, Sapo was very afraid and left. "You don't say ('¡No me digas!') says DB pretending to be surprised, "He must have a lot of enemies," Gonzalo goes on to say that he hasn't had the police pursue any enemies Sapo might have had because it's better to just leave the matter alone. DB agrees that Gonzalo acted correctly.

With Gonzalo present, DB asks Marisela to have lunch with her. Marisela says that she isn't hungry. DB sends a message to Marisela by saying that she wants to see how she can make Marisela's wedding as wonderful as that of Florencio "Quita Dolores," who almost married DB way back in October. The wedding was anything but wonderful and Marisela picks up on the hint. DB tells Gonzalo that she wants Marisela's wedding to turn out exactly like that of Quita Dolores.

Mujica tells Santos that a corporation who representative is Facundo bought the haciendas of the two families who were forced to sell by kidnapping. Santos tells Mujica that Facundo works for Sapo.

Néstor comes to see the Governor and finds Genoveva. She tells him not to waste his time with her - she's pregnant. Once he determines that she isn't in love or married, he asks her out to lunch. Geno hesitates and Néstor asks if being pregnant keeps her from having friends.

Gonzalo calls Sapo and asks for news. Sapo says that the first shipment came in without a problem and he is expecting that there will be two planes a week. Gonzalo says that is fine, where is is his money? He tells Sapo that he wants it in cash and soon - he has wedding expenses. Sapo agrees.

DB and Marisela are alone. DB asks why she would marry a man she doesn't love. Marisela says that this is what DB wanted - now her path to Santos is open. DB says that she wanted Marisela to marry Gonzalo before but not any more. Marisela asks why.

Gonzalo tells Genoveva to order flowers and champagne for Marisela. Antonio comes in and asks what the celebration is for. Gonzalo tells him that he and Marisela are getting married. Antonia is impactado. He tells Gonzalo not to marry out of anger like he did. He says that Marisela and Santos love each other. When Gonzalo replies that Marisela and Santos have broken up, Antonio says that even if they hate each other, they belong together. He says that Marisela has never stopped looking at Santos like the hero she thought he was when she was a savage who could barely talk. He tells Gonzalo that if he tries to separate Marisela and Santos, he will fail because they are made for one another. "Trust me, brother," says Antonio. Gonzalo tells him not to call him 'brother' because he couldn't be the brother of an ignorant farmer like Antonio.

DB asks Marisela why she decided to marry Gonzalo all of a sudden. She doesn't accept Marisela's answer that she hates Santos and wants to hurt him. She says that Marisela must have a more serious reason for marrying a man that she despises. She begs Marisela to be honest with her.

Pajarote leaves María Nieves and Carmelito to attend to the bank withdrawal so that he can resolve matters with Genoveva. Carmelito advises Pajarote to treat Genoveva nicely and not try to tame her like a horse. It's not clear if this speech about how important women are to men has any effect on Pajarote.

Genoveva tells Néstor that she doesn't have much confidence in friendships between men and women. Néstor asks Geno if she will go out with him. She reminds him that she is pregnant and he asks if her belly prevents her from going to the movies or dancing.

It appears that Pajarote hasn't taken Carmelito's advice because he grabs Néstor and demands to know what Néstor is doing with his girl.

Antonio tells Gonzalo that he has to express his anger. He calls Gonzalo a hypocrite and says that he claimed to have high ideals but when he got a little power he became a tinpot dictator.
Antonio say that Santos was right - Gonzalo is a disaster as human being and as a friend.

Santos and Andrés go the hacienda where Sapo is living. A dozen or so armed men are hanging around the gate. Santos tells Andrés that they are armed with justice. Santos tells the men at the gate that he is from the Cattlemen's Association and would like to speak to their boss.

DB can't get Marisela to tell her what she knows so DB goes first. She tells Marisela that she can't marry Gonzalo because he is allied with DB's enemy. "You knew about this?" asks Marisela surprised. Marisela tells DB that Gonzalo has the pictures of the rapists in his posession. That means that he knows who Sapo is but is his ally anyway. She says that this had made her very afraid for Santos and for DB. DB embraces Marisela.

MEPS, 4/24/09: VLADIMIR CRIES IN HIS BEER TO DAMIAN AND LILI GOES FOR THE JUGULAR

Capítulo 49

We begin with last night’s final and most satisfying of scenes and it’s definitely worth a video rerun.

It’s late in the afternoon. At Las Animas Cadmilo is giving Jacinto the third degree. Jacinto denies knowing anything about how Martina came to Las Animas or why she is working there, and he says nobody else lives there with Santoro. Cad orders Jancinto to let him enter the house so he can start nosing around inside and find out what he can about Santoro. Jacinto refuses to open the door to the house because he says Santoro will be back soon and if he finds them inside, he’ll throw the both of them out on their ear immediately.

Cadmilo, His Imperial HighnAss, does not like being told NO and threatens Cinto again with his whip. “Remember those scars on your back, animal? Shall I give you another little souvenir?” Cad raises the whip to strike when all of a sudden Gardenia throws a bucket of water at the SOB and turns him into one mad, wet alley cat, which, of course, is fine fare for our junkyard Chihuahua.

Cadmilo sneers his best “Indian maid!” at Denia and tries to bully her into submission, but Denia, much to Cinto’s horror, refuses to be bullied. Cinto grabs her by the waist and struggles to keep her from an all out frontal attack on Cad, but he can’t stop her mouth. (Hey, we knew that the mouth on her had to come in handy sometime.) She gives ol’ Cadmilo what for and how to. (¡Qué Chihuahua es!) “You’re not going to humiliate me! I don’t work for the Elizaldes now! I work for Don Santoro and he has more class in his little toe!” So, she says, she will darned well do whatever and whenever she darned well pleases. “So, git!” Denia summarily kicks him off the place. (Now that’s what I call a real Taco Belle!) Cad backs down and swears he’ll make her pay then stomps off.

At Loony Land, Dr. Oh!! we see has faked his asthma attack to finagle enough distance from his office, where Eduardo is still hiding behind the door, to insure a private chat with Bitch-Barbie. Barbie gives Dementoh! 24 hrs. to make sure Lili is back in the asylum and tells him she wants a letter to take back which is addressed to Gonzo stating that it’s dangerous having Lili with them at home.

At the hacienda de los Elizalde, meanwhile, Fernanda is showing Lili her wedding pictures. Anibal races in to tell Gonzo they’ve got to (let me guess) talk about something important immediately. He suddenly notices Lili is there and angrily asks why. Nanda explains and he says they really know what they’re doing (not) by bringing her home like that.

Back again at Loony Central, Eddie gets after Obregon for walking off with Barbie to finish their conversation. Dr. Oh!! sneers back that next time he’ll make sure to tell her they have to stay put to talk because there’s a spy behind the door who needs to listen to their conversation. Ed says to watch the smart-mouth because from what he managed to hear from behind the door, it’s clear to him that Matamentes was in cahoots with her all along. Matamentes pushes Ed out of his face. “It’s clear to me that you are a con man! And, by the way, you are dead!” Ed scoffs and asks if he told Barbie the truth about him when the two them were alone. The doctor says he could have but didn’t.

Ed reasons then it must be that the doctor is more afraid of him than of Barbara Greco. He threatens Matamentes again about telling the Elizalde’s and Ciro's wife (Graciela – who is anything but gracious or grateful) about Lili’s escape from the clinic and that Ciro died while trying to protect Lili from Dr. Matamentes’ abuses. Eddie smiles broadly here. “Even though Ciro’s wife couldn’t give a damn about Ciro, she’d love the idea of starting a law suit and getting a big cut for herself out of it, and all sorts of investigations into the clinic would come out of that!” When Dr. Oh!! sneers, Ed makes good on his threat and starts to dial Gonzo's phone number. Obregon quickly cuts off the call and agrees to whatever Ed wants, which is, of course, that Lili is to remain at the clinic without being drugged up, and Martina still watches her 24/7 until he says otherwise. Just to muddy the water a little bit more, before he leaves Eddie handles the identity issue by telling Dementoh! that he’s not who he seems. “It’s just like ‘Barbie’ told you: Eduardo Juarez is dead!”

Back at the Elizalde manse, Lili notices Eduardo’s picture in the wedding album and asks about him. Martina whispers something in Lili’s ear and she knows enough then to play dumb. She looks over at Damn and cutely says Freduardo is much better looking than her husband. Damn registers the insult, gives his best fake grin and leaves to answer his cell phone out in the hallway. The call is from BFF Vlad the Sad who says he is heartsick about something. Vlad in between sighs and sniffles says he just found out he’s going to be a daddy. Damn is WTF impactado to find out that Prissy is the “unlucky lady” [desdichada] who’s expecting.

Across the hall in the library, Any Balls tells his papi that Babs has no reason to be breaking bread with Franco Santoro. Gonzo disagrees and says she’s just as interested in the business as either of them is. AB says that he was the one who initiated things with Franco and so it’s none of her business. He reminds Gonzo that she opposes the business association with Powhere Meelk and so he wants to know what exactly she plans to discuss with him. Gonzo fights through his haze of semi-senility and says he figures she’ll be discussing the benefits of doing business with them. AB doesn’t agree and says it’s none of her affair. “Your wife can’t go around just doing whatever she feels like!” He starts to leave then tells Gonzo to get Babs to transfer the investments from Chicago to the business accounts of Grupo Lactos because they are in dire need of them.

In the hallway again, Damian tells Vlad he’s got to be drunk or sick to come up with a paternity claim like that. Vlad says he knows deep down the kid has to be his but our would-be dad says he can’t exactly explain it over the phone, but Pris knows about it and he needs Damian’s help so that “she’ll allow him to share the marvelous event with her.” He continues to weep and begs Damn to put him through to her. Damn is totally exasperated with the guy and says Vlad has got to be nuts to think he’d go up to Pris’ bedroom and say, “Hi there! My friend Vlad is a wreck and needs to discuss the paternity of the kid you’re expecting.”

The lovesick puppy weeps and begs some more. Damian, he says, could just pretend something and then hand Pris the phone, right? Damn can’t believe he’s having this conversation. “--And tell her in passing that I know about everything! Where did you get such an idiotic idea?” Vlad is desperate. “--There’s no harm in that, and I could tell her afterward that you’ll keep the secret. Please! Please! Get me out of this predicament.” (You know, there are times when you just wish you could look away. This is one of them.) Damn says he still thinks Vlad’s been hitting the bottle hard or been clinked in the head one too many times playing Jai alai because “there’s no other explanation for this nonsense.” Vlad insists that it’s not because he’s been drinking and says he is determined not to lose either Priscila or his child. Damn tells him to do whatever the hell he wants, then, but no way is he going to get in the middle of his BIL, Anibal’s, personal problems.

Cad comes home at this point, looking like something the cat dragged in, and interrupts Damn in the hallway to ask where Gonzo is. Damn tells him and continues his conversation. “This is very dangerous, Vladimir!”

Cad breaks in on AB and Gonzo’s discussion in the library to whine about what Denia did to him. AB tells him to suck it up because he’s not going to lose a business deal with Santoro over some rude maid. Gonzo looks like he’s fighting some heavy duty input overload.

Back to the hallway: Vlad tells Damn that Prissy is an angel and the best thing that ever happened to him. Damn tries to reason this through. “Ok. Let’s see. Let’s see. So why do you think this kid is yours?” Vlad tells him that he got tested earlier in the day and knows he’s fertile. Damn sneers. “That doesn’t insure anything, you retard!” “--No, you don’t understand something! Anibal is not!” Damn is drop-jaw impactado. Vlad begs again for Damn to get Pris on the phone for him. He says he needs to talk to her, to hear her voice and to tell her how much he loves her. (How about a gun? Just swallow the barrel and pull the trigger.) “She’s the first woman I ever truly made love to.”

Pris comes home and enters the hallway on her way upstairs. Damn opens up his cell for Prissy and shakes it in her face. (Somehow, I think he’d rather beat her over the head with it a few times instead.) “Er-r… there’s somebody on the phone who wants to talk to you. It’s Vlad Piñeiro calling.” Vlad whispers, “The man who loves you, my angel, and the father of your child!” (This is sooo not attractive in a man.) Prissy pretends not to remember the name. When Damian says it’s his friend she plays dumb and says that’s nice, but she has nothing to discuss with a stranger and walks off. Vlad hears what she’s saying at the other end of the phone and deflates for only the umpteenth time. Damn gets back on the phone. “You heard her, Vlad.”

Babs comes home now and walks past Damian. He smiles and stops talking as she goes by. Babs enters Gonzo’s office just as AB is yelling about her putting obstacles in his way and her keeping him from successfully doing business with Franco Santoro. Bab's ignores this and hands Gonzo over the letter from Obregon. He reads it aloud. It says that the doctor will hold the Elizalde's accountable for whatever might happen to LIli while she’s away from the clinic.

Back in the hallway, Damn tells Vlad to stop sniveling. He says he’ll come see him as soon as he’s free so that Vlad can explain everything that's been going on with him and Pris. Vlad says fine with him. He’s not going anywhere.

Fer wants to know where the rest of the family is because they’re supposed to be visiting with Lili. Damn tells her they’re all in the library and she goes to get them. Gonzo is reading the letter aloud to the others when Fer walks in. The letter says that “given the disturbed mental state of his patient” Lili as well as the others, all run a serious danger if she’s not returned back to the mental hospital; and that he will hold them responsible if anything happens while Lili is off the clinic grounds. Fer wonders what kind of danger he means and Babs says a little too calmly, the same as what happened to her mother. Babs rubs Fer’s arm affectionately and in sad, dulcet tones (which always manage to grate on my ear) says she’s going back to see what she can do for Lili.

With her cheeriest smile, dear Babs sends Martina on a wild goose chase after Damian so she can get Lili alone. Once Martina’s out of the way Bitch-Barbie says she thinks Lili is plotting something and that after fifteen years she thinks Lili is still as cunning as ever. She hisses that “the war” ended and that she won. She explains that she was the one who won because families always reject and detest the crazy and the murderous relatives, and the family now thinks Lili is both. She threatens Lili that if she tries anything, the next time Lili visits she’ll be visiting her father’s widow; and Lili will be the one responsible for Gonzo’s death.

As soon as Damian and Martina enter the room sweet Babs starts caressing Lili’s face and cooing at her. (Viewerville suffers a major skin-crawl attack.) Lili is crying. Babs, in her silkiest voice, tells the others that Lili is crying out of happiness. As she’s walking away, Damian mentions that he was told she was looking high and low for him. Barbie snickers a bit and says “yes, because it was raining….” and then just walks off, half giddy because she’s so pleased with herself.

Back in the library, Nanda says as far as she’s concerned, Lili has been perfectly happy and has been acting normally. Cad says yeah and she seemed adorable right before she did in their mother, too. AB gets up and says as far as he’s concerned, Lili stopped being his sister the minute she killed his mother. He walks out the door in a huff.

That night Eddie drives up to Silvestre's house to check on him for Martina. He goes inside and starts looking for the old guy. He makes his way through to the back. Everything is in a huge mess. Silvestre is lying on the ground, beaten unconscious, and bleeding to death from a gunshot wound. Ed picks up Silvestre and begs him for the love of his daughter to hang on.

A few streets over, somebody duded up like Indígena Jones, takes a look around and swaggers into Mud Wrasslers' Cantina. It’s the P.I. that Artemio Bravo hired, Rene Manzanares. Jairo sits him down and chats him up. Rene says he’s looking for a guy named Franco Santoro. Jairo thinks it might be the new guy in town who took over Las Animas. One of the waitresses tells them that the new owner of Las Animas is named Santoro. Rene heads out with the information.

In Puebla Purificación Dominga is falling down drunk again. She tells Rory that Santiago has hit the road and was probably only giving them a line. Rory says if she’d just tell her where her mother is she’d be free and clear of her. Dominga says something like “Don’t think I wouldn’t like to” when Santiago returns with a bottle of whiskey for Dominga. He and Rory share a starry-eyed look. He holds Rory’s hand while the hag swills down the whiskey.

Eddie drives Silvestre to Cinto's house. Margarita gasps. Jacinto has Ed put the old man in the bedroom. (There goes the bedspread.) Cinto runs out for the hydrogen peroxide and cotton (like that’s gonna help anything). Margo wonders if Sivestre was in a fight. Ed says he can hardly see so how’s he going to fight? “Everything was a shambles in there,” he says. “Maybe they were trying to rob him,” she wonders, “and him with barely enough to feed himself!” Ed says he’s really worried because the old man’s heartbeat is weak and he’s afraid the old guy’s dying. “This can’t be happening! I promised Martina I’d take care of him. He can’t die!”

Up the road a bit, the Elizalde’s sit down to dinner. Babs smiles triumphantly over at Lili and takes pleasure in secretly terrorizing her. Everybody is oblivious to the vibes going back and forth between the two of them. Anibal, Pris and Cad aren’t eating with them. Damn asks if Pris isn’t because she’s nauseous from the pregnancy. Nanda is excited to hear the news and wonders why she wasn’t told about the baby. Gonzo says they only found out the night before at dinner, but Fer was over visiting with Padre Bosco. Gonzo looks over at Lili and tells her he can’t believe she’s really there at the table with them. The Barbot smiles over at Lili “lovingly” while secretly thinking to herself, “You’re powerless you crazy fool girl! Now you know who rules the roost here!” Lili stares up at her and her panic grows.

Ed wants to take Silvestre to a doctor because he knows Silvestre is bleeding to death, but Jacinto advises against it because they'll ask him in the hospital for his background information. They’ll have to call the police, he says, because it involves a gunshot wound and Ed can’t risk that. “When they ask your name what are you going to tell them, that you’re the defunct Eduardo Juarez or Franco Santoro?” Ed is scared for Silvestre and says he doesn’t care if he is trapped or not. Margarita suggests going for the doctor from Lili’s clinic instead and avoiding any questions. Ed agrees and races out.

Gonzo tells everyone at the table how blessed he feels tonight with Lili there. He hasn’t been this happy in years. Babs continues smiling and serving, serving and smiling over at Lili. Lili stares at the soup tureen and considers her options. Everything goes in slow-motion. Finally, in desperation, Lili jumps up and screams a blood-curdling “NOOOOO!” as she takes a knife from the table, rushes over and attempts to slit the Barbot’s neck. (Viewerville wonders if the woman would actually bleed green.) Pandemonium breaks loose even though, as Uni continually reminds us at every crass commercial break, it’s only a quarter moon. Bab’s starts screaming for help and begging Lili not to hurt her.

Macabre-sounding horns blare and cymbals clash menacingly as Babs continues to scream in sheer terror and to beg for Lili not to hurt her. Unfortunately for Babs, nobody will go near Lili, not even Martina. (Viewerville joins in a primal scream and cheers.) Lili keeps yelling at Gonzo about Babs wanting to kill her and him just like she killed her mother. They try to calm her down and ask her to put down the knife. (Are you kidding? No way! Have at it, Lili! Go for it!) Lili yells over at Fer. “Fernanda! Tell papi to throw her out of here because as soon as I leave she’s going to kill him! She’s going to do the same to him as she did to Mama! It was her not me!”

We are suddenly shunted over to Domicile Dominga, hardly able to catch our breath from all the rubbernecking, just in time to see Santiago get down on his knees and propose to Rory. He goes in for The Kiss, but Dominga literally sticks her nose into it and tells them no kissing before the wedding. Burp. Plop. She passes out.

We get shunted back again to the chaos of the Elizalde Family Hour. Lili screams at her father that they’ve got to watch after him and that the food is poisoned. Gonzo slurps a bit of his soup to show her that it’s not. Damn makes his move when Lili looks over at Gonzo, and then takes her by the wrist to disarm her. Fernanda races out to call Matamentes. Babs has totally lost it and continues to shriek in panic cuz Lili has just upped the ante and proven that two can play at this crazy game. (--Be afraid, Barbie! Be very afraid! Brwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-aaaa!)

Fernanda interrupts Matamentes’ putting game with her call and tells him that Lili is out of control. He gets on his high-horse and gives her a self-righteous “I told you so” then tells her he’s on his way--but not before finishing his putting practice, it seems. Just then Eddie shows up at Matamentes’ office and tells him they’ve got to go quick. The doctor thinks that it's about the problem with LIli and says that he was on his way out to go see about her. Eddie becomes alarmed and screams at him to tell him what’s wrong now with Lili. Dr. Oh!! gasps in panic when he realizes the slip.

Things calm down at the Elizalde’s and Babs finally gets her wits about her. She says that this should be all the proof they need to realize they shouldn’t play around with Lili’s condition. (Fear is the greatest of motivators, isn’t it Babs? Be afraid! Be very afraid!)

Tontas no Van Friday 4/24 Baby Battles

As we cross the ocean to the New World, we find several battles raging. Paulina is battling to get Santi back. Alicia is battling to get Pat back. Charly is battling his demons. Tina is battling cancer. And Candy and Santi appear to be battling many problems, but finally – they’re on the same side.

We begin with the happy scene in which Santi gives Candy his mother’s ring, telling her that on the day he demonstrates that he’s a man in which she can have total confidence, that’s the day they’ll get married. Tonight they continue the conversation, as Candy, having seen the ring as a proposal, tells Santi she’s not saying no, she’s sort of saying “ni”, which is a combination of no and “casi” (almost). Santi takes this in good humor, plays a ringtone on his cell that sounds like the news, with the story of Candy and Santi to follow. This amuses Candy, who says that for now, we’ll keep this ring secret. Santi doesn’t mind, the ring is really just a symbol of their love, and Candy thanks him with a brilliant smile. A happy Santi exits, with the “news” ringtone going again, promising mucho más to come.

Gregoria and Lulu are cooking side by side in the restaurant kitchen. Apparently Greg is over her nerves, is now in an excellent mood. She tells Lu about when Greg was young, she wanted to be like Sylvia Piñal, who back then was quite slim (if you saw FELS, she played Santita, Don Augustin’s girlfriend, so you know what she looks like now). Gregoria dreamed of being an actress. And Gregoria used to imitate the actress Maria Felix, in the original Dona Bárbara. Greg especially liked when Ms. Felix played a character called Victoria Arribas, and Greg used to copy her sophisticated mirada (gaze, or look), which Lulu gets her to demonstrate. So what about Lulu, what’s her dream? Turns out she wants to be a singer, but she doesn’t have an agent. Right on cue, Meño enters to inquire as to what’s the daily special. The two ladies look at each other, and Lulu drags Meño into the restaurant to talk business, as Greg shouts after, “He’s the man!” (to be her agent).

Candy is full of pep, she’s picked up a little something for everyone this morning, Ceci gets coffee without sugar, Bárbara a little croissant since Candy knows she skipped breakfast, along with a fashion mag, Chayo a mocha latte lite and Soledad a Chai lite. The ladies know this is a little over the top even for Candy, and they follow her in the office for the “news”. How come Santi just left her office with a big smile, and she has the same smile, are they novios? Of course not, denies Candy as all the others say “Ay a hah” at the same time.

We jump to another grinning gal, it’s Paulina, who’s having fun with her little game in Santi’s office. Still pretending she remembers nothing, she begs him to tell him how they met. We see a flashback to her looking for an earring on the ground in the park, he finds it, offers to return it if she’ll have coffee with him, she played hard to get, didn’t want a novio. How did he succeed? He insisted, he pursued, he tried, and who could resist this (he poses to show off his guaposity), tells Paulina, who looks as if she’s reliving every moment, you remember, right? Nope, lies Pau.

Ay, real life intrudes into our fun, as Candy has called a hurting Pat to tell him she really does want that divorce. He pauses a few seconds, sadly agrees. He can call the lawyer, they can get divorced tomorrow, but is she really sure? She doesn’t want to hurt him, but….yes.

We continue pretty Paulina’s preguntas as she sort of slips, saying their first date was a disaster. You see, you remember, says Santi, but Pau denies it, what happened? We see them in a rooftop restaurant, clear blue sky, Pau is scratching her arms, saying her nerves are giving her an allergic reaction. Santi wants to get medicine, but Paulina says “you know what would help? If we get married!” Santi’s reply? “It’s a deal.” (trato hecho). Paulina wants to start over, right now could be their first date. Santi negates this, let’s change the subject. Guess who’s back? Mario! Again, Pau’s face gives away that she, of course, remembers. Santi suggests a dinner with all four musketeers, and Pau forces a little smile.

Lulu has asked Meño to be her agent. He doesn’t want to, for 2 reasons – he doesn’t represent artists, and she’s no singer. She begs to differ, he just never saw her show. She wants to debut right here in the restaurant, and when she lets out a few soaring notes, he agrees to at least think about it.

Gregoria is going through Candy’s advice mail “Obesity, obesity, obesity, unfaithfulness” (I guess there’s some key on the outside of each envelope!). Greg wants to know how the dinner with Santi went. Great, and Mom’s cooking helped, too, although Candy made Santi think she prepared it. Greg thinks Candy is wild, but so is SHE. She reminds Candy about the man she’s been with, who helped her to feel again. And then she even tells Candy who it is – Arturo! Candy is a little shocked, but the only thing she wants is for her Mom to be happy, and they hug.

Donato has finished writing a letter – he’s resigning, he doesn’t want to go, he HAS to go. Tina reminds him that tomorrow he’s going to go with her for her operation (the breast tumor). He will. She asks about the letter, and he nervously tells her it’s his resignation, as he walks out of the kitchen. Ayyy!

Okay, enough of our intrigues, what happened to our daily PSA’s? Okay, time to revisit the last few. Lucía is talking to Santi about Charly’s drug problem, which seems to be solved. She asks about her little brother, and Santi tries to be positive, at least they know he was born, and hopefully Marissa will calm down and have the sense to return. Then they talk about Suinti, the bulimic girl. She’s following her treatment, but she’s no longer friendly with Luc. Santi tells her that hopefully, after Suinti is fully recovered, she’ll renew her friendship with Lucía, and it’ll be a deeper and fuller friendship. But after Lucía leaves, Santi worries to himself about Marissa.

It’s morning now, and Chava is fully dressed in his school uniform, but is sleeping crosswise on Candy’s bed, with his backpack as a pillow. Candy tells him to get up, while talking to Pat on the phone. Pat says when he was a kid, he also would lie down on the bed fully dressed before school, so it seems that Chava and Pat are twins in this respect. Pat says he’ll meet Candy at the office and they’ll go to the divorce lawyer, but Candy has to do something for Ceci’s birthday, and they’ll have to meet a little later. Pat hangs up unhappy. Chava doesn’t want to go to school, and tries buttering up his Mom, telling her she looks beautiful, but Candy’s not falling for this, and a few tickles (cosquillas) get Chava moving.

Charly has also packed his backpack (mochila). He’s apparently going to help some kids with problems. But Meño wants to inspect the backpack (for drugs). Charly is initially resistant, but eventually he lets Meño check the compartments.

Jaime and Isabel now have a little mini-spat. Isa is upset with Jaime for not telling her earlier about the son he fathered out of wedlock. They were supposed to tell each other all their secrets, and she did. He’s contrite, he felt embarrassed, this was from his wild days, long ago. Guess what the name of Jaime’s long-lost love child is? Frijolito! Jaime hasn’t seen mother or child in many years, all he has left is a photo of the kid at age 4. But can Isa forgive him? She’s not ready to do that, keeping secrets from your spouse is no trifling matter.

Pat’s in the office, checking a report, when from behind comes “Hola, mi amor!” and he just about jumps out of his shoes. It’s Alicia, carrying the new baby in a white blanket, perky as ever. Pat looks at the baby as if it’s an alien, as Ali introduces Patricio Arturo Molina Lisaraga (I’m not sure of that last name, why isn’t it Morales?) She wants him to hold the baby, and although he’s initially reluctant, when he tentatively takes him in his arms, the paternal feelings start to flow. Ali points to him and the baby, says “Pato, Patito, quack, quack!” (Pato means a duck). He’s identical to you, she adds. Candy shows up in the doorway (the divorce thing), apologizing for arriving at an awkward moment, but Ali is more than happy to introduce Candy to her new sobrino (nephew).

Santi has woken, is in his bedroom in his robe, looking in the mirror, admiring his handsomeness, when his cell rings. He answers with a big, bright “Helllooooo”, but his face falls when it turns out to be Mariloca! She’s happy to hear he’s in a good mood, she won’t take much of his time. He demands, where is his son? Ignoring this, she asks if he liked her video. Where is my son, he repeats. Concentrate. Get your sanity (cordura) back. Where is he? What baby? she replies. Santi says the baby shouldn’t pay for his mistakes. Mari says “There is no baby, Santiago. The boy died!” Santi is impactado. Mari continues, it was destiny, maybe it was written that the baby wouldn’t live. Santi isn’t buying this, tells her to stop lying, she knows perfectly well the baby is alive. Mari’s reponse? “Murió, murió, murió, que en paz descanse, Sí, Señor, Adios!” (he died, he died, he died, rest in peace, yes, sir, bye!) and hangs up, laughing. Santi slams his phone down onto the bed in frustration.

We then cut to the same baby, cute as a button, being cuddled in Alicia’s arms, as Candy and Pat look on, and Candy agrees he’s beautiful. In light of all this, Pat wants to do the divorce thing another day, and Candy agrees. As they go into the hall to discuss this, Ali hugs her baby, asking him if he likes his Daddy, who’s really handsome, hoping the baby doesn’t end up looking too much like his real Daddy (Santiago).

Donato is wearing casual clothes, ready to accompany Tina to her operation. On the way out, Don slips his resignation letter into the fruitbowl.

Okay, can you believe this? Candy apparently told Pat about Ceci’s moving in with Soledad, and Pat is STILL worried about Ceci’s being gay, Beto lives there, what if one day Ceci brings a gay friend home? Candy says Ceci is the most discreet person in the world, she would never put Beto in an uncomfortable position, but if anything did happen in the future, they could deal with it then. She leaves, and it seems to me that Patricio’s rejection by Candy is slowly, inexorably driving him to the Dark Side.

Meño and Charly are eating breakfast. Why doesn’t he talk to Daniele? He should tell her she has HIV. (Okay, people, can you guess what happens?). Right! Charly angrily resists for two minutes, Meño makes a little speech, Charly changes his mind, he’ll go see Daniele. (if only life were this easy!)

At the Institute, Bárbara, Chayo and Soledad surprise Ceci with a birthday cake, singing the local version of Happy Birthday. Ceci doesn’t want to celebrate, birthdays just remind her she’s one year older, and still alone, but the ladies are all in a good mood, and as they go off to work, Ceci goes off to work on something related a diet for the bulimia problem from the other day (more likely to work on eating that cake), leaving Chayo at the receptionist post, accompanied by Soledad. In walks our next client, a handsome guy. He says his wife Ana has the problem, she totally controls him. When the ladies suggest couples counseling, he demurs, saying it’s his wife who has the problem, he doesn’t want to make her mad, how can they get her to come in for help? Ceci and Sole have suspicious (or maybe devious) looks.

In the scrub room at the Clinic, Santi tells Ed that Marissa had to be lying about the baby’s being dead. But then he asks Ed, what if Mari put the baby up for adoption? (Santi must have been reading the script, it’s hard to believe he’d just come up with this so fast). They’d have no way to trace the baby.

The ladies are discussing their latest client over cake and coffee. How can they get Ana to come in for therapy? They can’t just call her and tell her that her husband told them about the problem, the woman would be mad. Suddenly Chayo has an idea! She calls Ana, and tells her this is the famous Miracle Institute, you’ve heard of Candy with the column, right? Well, guess what? You’ve just won a free membership! (inscripción). The others sort of wonder what about the money, but let’s not worry about that now.

Isabel finds Donato’s letter of resignation.

Cut to some sore feet – Ceci’s, in the ladies’ room, she likes the style of these heels (maybe they were a present from the others?), but they’re killing her. Sole says maybe they’re too small for your feet, huh? Ceci says she could put them in the refrigerator to loosen them up. She then notices Sole’s preoccupied look. What’s on her mind? Sole tells her she has renewed hope for something with Patricio, now that Candy has broken up with him. Ceci implores her not to go down that road again, Pat just doesn’t love her. Sole asks, shouldn’t she even try to win him back? Ceci asks, “Do you want me to lie?” “Yes. Lie to me. And I’ll even buy you some new shoes” . Make them boots (botas), jokes Ceci.

We now see Lulu, jogging! Her jogging partner is Meño, and he’s had enough. She asks if he’ll do what she asked (let her sing in the restaurant, I think) and he’s not paying for anything, but she can work something out with Zamora. She tells him she knows he’s been getting notes from a secret admirer. He asks her to try to figure out who it is. She wants him to jog a little more, but he tells her that when he was young, rather youngER, he didn’t even need exercise. When he was young, rather youngER, he could drink two cups of water, and lose two kilos! She says okay lets do another lap. No, you go, and she’s off as he says, run, youngster, run (corre joven corre).

Charly is in the mall, drinking milkshakes with Daniele, apologizing for not telling her earlier (about the HIV). Dani denies, denies, denies, but Charly consoles, hugs, and I’m sure in 2-3 minutes, Dani will be off to get her AIDS test.

Alicia, baby in arms, has come to see Pat’s new house. Although she’s holding the baby, he has suitcases in both hands, so she slips her hand into his pants to get the keys (that Alicia knows what she’s doing), and they enter. The house is awesome, stone walls, wood beams, high ceilings, rustic but luxurious. Pat’s going to give a tour, but Ali says he should carry Patito. At first he’s afraid, but once again, as soon as Patito is in his arms, you can feel the love.

Knock, knock at the Institute, it’s Ana, to claim her prize of the free membership. Chayo and Soledad usher her over to the sofa to begin (but Ana doesn’t even really know what they do, or why she’s there. She had heard of Candy, though, who isn’t in at the moment). It’s time for a little improvisation, as Chayo asks Ana to tell them what her problems are, so they can help. Problems? Ana’s at a loss, until Sole says, just to guess, do you possibly have a pareja (partner, boyfriend, husband)? Bingo, that’s her biggest problem!

Pat has finished giving Patito the grand tour, and he asks if Alicia wants to hold him now. Of course, she has to take him, babies stay with their Mommies, and it’s time for her to go back to the apartment. No, please stay just a little longer (un ratito). Pat notes that it’s getting late, we don’t want the baby to suffer from a change in temperature, could he stay here for the night? Alicia smiles, are you suggesting the baby and I can stay here in the big house? Well, you can sleep in the guest room, but I definitely want Patito to stay the night. Alicia’s not quite as overjoyed, but she’s making progress.

It turns out Ana’s real problem is her suegra, her husband’s mother, who gives in to the husband’s every whim, and Ana is like a third wheel (un cero a la izquierda, literally a zero on the left). She’s tried to fight back, but the mother-in-law doesn’t pay any attention to her. The other ladies can totally relate to this problem, apparently they have suegra issues, too. Bárbara, though (being divorced) has nothing to add, seems to be enjoying this one.

In the hospital, Donato is pacing, Isabel sitting, as they wait for Tina’s operation to be over. Isa beckons Don with a finger. She read his letter. She knows she was generous with him, he should be generous with her. She’s asking him not to leave. He starts to protest, she shushes him, saying “Calladito te ves más bonito” (Silence is golden, or you look prettier silent). The doctor comes out with the news. They got the tumor out, and since it was not too big, they didn’t have to remove the breast. They took out (he says extirpamos, we removed) glands from the armpit (axila) to test for metastasis. They’ll know the results in 15-20 days, and can do chemotherapy or radiation therapy if necessary, but the operation was a complete success! Donato and Isabel hug. Don asks, does this mean Tina’s okay? Well, she’s in the middle of the struggle (en plena lucha), but the forecast for the battle is very good! They hug again.

But not all is golden. In the Clinic, Hortensia grabs Candy’s hand, thank goodness she came, Horti is worried about Santi, who got a phone call from Marissa, but since then, has been sitting alone in his office, not saying a word. Candy asks what Mari said. Hort says that Ed told her that Mari said the baby is dead! Candy enters to see Santi sitting, holding the empty picture frame. She sits next to him on the sofa. Santi says he knows he behaved badly with Marissa, but was he bad enough for Mari to do this? Candy is sure the baby is okay. Santi says he has to believe that, too, but he still has this empty picture frame. Candy tenderly tells him, he’s not alone, she will always be with him. And his baby will be with him, too. They gently put their arms around each other, determined to fight this together.

Monday: Suspicions grow about the baby, and Paulina continues her games.

Vocabulario:

Cordura - sanity
Inscripción – membership, registration, enrollment

MEPS - Thursday, April 23, 2009, Cap. 48 - Three Funerals and a Wedding

Good morning and have a great day. Somebody out there, please post this to the sidebar. Thanks.

At last Lili, Fernanda, Damian and Martina arrive at the Elizalde hacienda. She is filled with shock and awe. So is Gonzo when he walks into the room. He embraces Lili who has a crazy look in her eyes. He tells her how pretty she is. In walks Barbara. Lili’s fear of her is palpable. Gonzo, the dense, says, my love – don’t you remember Barbara, my wife. You were asking about her. Lili blurts out “la hiena,” and that Ed said he’d boot Barbara’s butt out of the hacienda. All look shocked.

Ed is explaining the situation to Martina and Jacinto. She says he’s learned a way with words, but he says it’s always been the same. The phone rings. It’s Dr. Demented.

At the Elizalde’s, Fernanda explains to the esteemed family group that Lili is a bit obsessed with Ed. Barb wants to know if she’s told Lili that Ed’s dead. Fer intended to do it, but not yet. Gonzo says maybe it would be a good idea to wait. But Lili wants confirmation that Ed is going to get rid of the Hiena.

Ed tells Dr. O that he wants a full report about everything that goes on with the Elizalde’s Dr. O takes a swig from his flask and says, Mr. Ghost, we’ll see. He promptly calls Barb. Barb lies and says it’s a call from the plant and leaves the room. Barb wants to know why the crazy one is in her house. He says he couldn’t stop it. She says that Lili better get back in the manicomio. If Dr.O thinks he’s going to get any slack from BOW, he’s mistaken. She threatens him. What else do I need to know, she says. He says that he’s acting under pressure. He was going to tell her that he’s being forced to disobey her.

At Grupo Lactos Anibal is having a fit with Flor. He’s put out that Barb and Franco are planning lunch. He tells her to get the hacienda on the line.

Barb reminds Dr. O of his obligation to her. He doesn’t want to tell her by phone. She says it better be important. Maybe at her house. She hangs up and is out of control.

Anibal demands to know why Barb is meeting with Franco without his knowledge. She says she’ll meet with him at his pleasure. She’s losing it now.

Ed continues talking to Margarita. He says don’t you remember what my mother said before she died about Lili being in danger. Jacinto repeats that Lili was put in the asylum to hide something. Margarita agrees but asks Ed to slow down his plans that one day there will be justice not vengeance. She’s confused. Ed says to rescue Lili is vengeance. She says now she agrees with him and asks forgiveness for judging him and doubting. He forgives her. Sole wanted him to save Lili.

Back at the hacienda, Lili is playing paint the face on Fernanda. Gonzo and Martina think it’s really funny to see lipstick on Fer’s teeth. To spoil the fun, in walks Barb who has to speak to Gonzo in private about something urgent.

Lili keeps referring to Barb as “la hiena” and Fer asks her to stop doing that. They giggle and Damian let’s us all see his “painful smile” look.

Santiago and Aurora still discuss her situation. They know she was born the 20th of October and are now at the civil registry.

Barb says that they put Lili at risk by taking her to the hacienda. She sets Gonzo up by telling him about Lili’s attacks and that they are dangerous. She says Dr. O wants Lili returned to the clinic. She says she’s going to the clinic to talk to Dr. O in order to find out how to treat Lili if she should have an attack. Of course Barb tells Gonzo she’s doing all this for love and by the way, don’t forget I’m having lunch with Franco Santoro tomorrow.

Santiago and Aurora plan their strategy. Aurora is troubled because they can’t find anything out about her birth and he’s telling everybody that they’re going to get married. Ever the flower child optimist – he’s ready to go through endless records to find their future and her past.

Gonzo is annoyed that his wife is going to meet “that man.” Barb says it’s necessary for the business because if Power Milk is going to partner with them, they need to know what’s going on. She says she knows what she’s doing. And, she’s going to be sure that nothing bad happens to Lili.

Dr. O paces in his office when Adolfina comes in followed by Ciro’s wife and son, Simple Simon.

Aurora continues her conversations with Santiago about what’s going to happen if they can’t find her birth registry (she used the word “datos” or information.) Don’t worry, says Santiago it doesn’t cost anything to look. She asks that if they can’t find anything about her, he’s going to return to the hacienda. Just then he finds something. Aurora Artemisa was born and October 20 1985 in the DF and registered here by Dominga.

Mrs. Ciro wants Ciro’s effects. At first Dr. O is confused, then he realizes what she’s asking for and says, of course, they’re in the warehouse. Then she specifically asks if he knows anything about patents? Dr. O says Ciro never talked about patents to him. Dr. O pulls out the death certificate and Mrs. Ciro and Simon leave.

Aurora can’t believe that he found it. Who were my parents – your mother was called Rebeca Sanchez Fruto. Who’s surprised out there? Just to drive home the point we see Barb’s face and then Aurora’s face and then, well, you know what. Once again, gentle readers, hang on to your brains (if I may quote a recent article in Time magazine) because the zombies are marching. Put on your beanies and let it all go.

Jacinto is exercising Saleroso when who should appear but Camilo who orders him to get down off the horse because he can’t stand it when servants are above him. He laughs his crazy laugh. I want to smack him.

Aurora tells Santiago that Dominga is a very cruel woman. He tells her to calm down. He thinks he’s going to get info out of Domingo. He says money talks. She doesn’t want him to feel obligated on her part. He knocks at the door and tells Domingo that it’s her son-in-law. He brought a big bottle of spirits which sends Dominga into ecstasy.

Damian enters the bedroom where Fer is fixing her makeup. He apologizes. She says why -for leaving me in the morning or alone at the clinic. He says it’s tension and that it’s not what she thinks. She gives him a lecture about feelings. He agrees – and she says let’s have a truce and promise each other that if we have a problem we won’t offend each other. He kisses her hand and starts to get busy. She appears to respond to him (I think). But, ever the wet blanket Fer says she has to leave because Lili is waiting for her. He won’t take no for an answer and tells her she’s going to get up happy and smiling. So who hasn’t heard that one.

At last they get to the bed and Damian slowly starts to remove Fer’s clothes. She looks amused. He says I am going to fill you with tenderness. The ghost of Eduardo past visits the bedroom and Fer looks terrified. She gets up and looks around. Dam wants to know what’s going on.

Dr. O (still wearing a black ribbon on his sleeve) is met by Freduardo. Ed is glad Dr.O is nervous. Did you call the hacienda, he says. Dr. O lies and tells Ed that he couldn’t get anyone there. Ed wants Dr. O to get Lili back at the clinic. Just this once he and Barb are in agreement. Ed sees Barb. (We hear suspenseful music.) Break. Thank God ‘cause I’ve been holding my breath.

Back at hacienda Elizalde, Damian is really annoyed. He wants to know what happened. Fer says she felt that someone had entered the room but it was only her imagination. She flashes back to her conversation with Prissy – and the gift Prissy gave her. She picks it up and remembers that the gift was to liberate her from the bad and that Fer wouldn’t understand that now. Prissy tells her to guard it carefully so that nothing bad will happen.

Fer asks Damian to forgive her and once again pulls out the sad card and asks for more patience. Damian explains to her that he’s a man of flesh and blood and that if she didn’t intend to consummate their marriage she shouldn’t have married him. He doesn’t know how much longer he’s going to put up with this stuff. She says soon. Since Barb has his arm twisted behind his back, once again he’s willing to forgive her. But at some point Fer is going to have to put out or shut up, maybe both. He didn’t say that. I just had a feeling that’s what he meant.

Dam and Fer begin kissing again. He’s frustrated to have cancelled their honeymoon again. Damian says he loves her very much and wants to cover her with kisses. He just might mean it. But since he sleeps with a hyena and lives with wolves, what’s a girl to think?

Dr. O is trying to explain his troubles to Barb. She only wants him to explain what he meant when he spoke to her by phone, e.g., who is forcing you? Ed has his ear to the door and can hear everything. Dr. O waffles – she’s waiting. He wants her to take it calmly. Dr. O says Eduardo Juarez. Barb looks cool; Ed looks shrewd.

Dominga finishes off a glass of something alcoholic. For purposes of discussion, let’s say she has just finished sipping a glass of Port wine. That sounds good. Dominga can’t hold her liquor. She is celebrating. They’re going to be rich. She burps. Dominga can’t understand why he wants to marry such a stupid girl as Aurora. He says he loves Aurora very much and that she’s the best girl in the world. Santi still wants to know how Aurora got there – did you bring her here, Dominga. Dominga mocks him. Santiago says she has to live up to her part of the bargain – who are Aurorar’s parents because she’s the only one who knows.

Barb asks Dr. O what else did Eduardo Juarez tell you. Dr. O says that Ed told him that if Lili didn’t return to the house he’d kill him with his own hands. Barb says when – a few days ago and that Ed’s been watching him. She presses him for more information. Ever the simpering fawn, Dr. O says Ed hasn’t returned to give him more orders.

She says don’t you know Ed is dead. She saw his tomb. He committed suicide. Ed considers this a victory.

Damian is trying to make love or something to Fernanda who reminds him that he should be at the office. There is a persistent knock at the door. Damian says, damn it. I know he’d like to say that. Fer says – wait a minute. More knocking. She can’t ignore it. It’s Lili. Lili says Barbara? Not here – Damian wants to know why she wants Barb. Lili keeps asking about Barb. Fer tells her to go on and that she’ll be right there. Lili watches Fer put on her jacket.

Dominga once again mocks Santiago and says what do I get out of this if I tell you something about Rebeca Sanchez. He says she’ll get a son in law who will take care of her. She says she needs enough money to live like a queen. He offers her that if she’ll tell them. She doubts he can complete the promise. She needs “hechos.” She says she doesn’t really trust him, but he promises her the money. Santiago says just tell me how much. Finally, she accepts. She’ll get rid of Aurora who’s a problem and that she’ll have money. She says show me the money and I’ll tell you about Rebeca Sanchez.

Barb tells Dr. O that with Ed’s death they are rid of a problem. He agrees. But, something is yet to be done – what, he asks- Lili, she says, Liliana Elizalde. Dr. O grabs his chest. He’s having a panic attack. Looks like she’s ordering a hit, and Dr. O is the hit man.

Meanwhile Camilo is menacing Jacinto. He rides the horse around Jacinto, knocking him down. Camilo says you stupid ladino Indian, agree that you’ll report to me everything that goes on about Franco Santoro, like how did one of Jairo’s girls end up working here. Jacinto claims that he only knows about the horse. Camilo wants to know who else lives there – nobody says Jacinto. Perfect, says Camilo, you’re going to help me find out who Franco Santoro really is.

Santiago continues the bargaining with Dominga. The only thing we need, he says, is your consent. The wedding is going to be tomorrow. She’s ready to split, but he says you’re going to be the madrina. She laughs. She’s really into it. He says, I’ll complete my part, you complete yours. She tells him she has to go pee. In fact, she tells him that twice. Aurora asks him if he thinks Dominga will really do it. He teases her a little bit and she says get serious. She’s worried about getting married. Santi leaves to get wedding stuff.

Jacinto actually answers Camilo back. Jacinto tells Camilo you don’t know what you’re dealing with here. Camilo, the sneaky snake, isn’t going to be stopped. So, who invited him to this party? Camilo then raises his riding crop to take another shot at Jacinto when a bucket of water falls on him. Suddenly Gardenia appears and tells Camilo that she works here now and she’s not afraid of him. You go, girl.

Avances: Vlad calls Damian and tells him he’s going to be a father, the father of Prissy’s baby.
Lilly sees a photo of Ed and Fer tells her he’s Franco Santoro, their father’s friend.
Ed finds Silvestre bleeding and beaten up.
Damian tells Pris they need to talk.
Barb threatens Lili with a pillow and tells her she’s dead.

Las Tontas Thurs 4/23 - A little competition, a lot of advice, a little amnesia, and a LOT of romance (but is it enough?)

Hola Amigos! Tonight was a first for me. Somehow my Tivo got jammed up, would not record, and although I had sound I had no picture on my TV screen. I was in a panic but did the best I could with audio only on the fly. Then I compared what I had to what I could find on youtube and the following is my best effort. There are some conversations and scenes that are utterly lacking so if any of you would care to fill in the blanks I would be extremely grateful. Thank you in advance.

Pat visits Meño's house supposedly to see Chava but of course he wants to know about Candy. Meño says she's out but Pat can go ahead and kiss the boy goodnight. Meño mutters "Ay Candy Candy" and rubs his face. I guess he likes Santi but he likes Pat too and maybe he thinks Candy's jerking Pat around.

Charly's up in his room about to snort some coke but Pat catches him and good gosh darn thing. Pat gives him an ultimatum, talk to Pat now or go right down and talk to dad. Pat rubs his face and says "My God what are you doing?"

Santi and Candy are at their romantic dinner with a string quartet where she surprises him with a game of foosball. She calls for Musica Maestro and instantly scores a goal. Candy 1, Santi 0. Now he gets a goal and the game continues. I think this bit, along with the punching, is supposed to show that Candy can be more than a novia, she can be a real pal, although I don't know many pals who punch each other.

Chayo tries to console Lalo for shooting blanks and their conversation is very confusing. Well, confusing to me anyway. This is where someone else can jump in and help me out.

Candy and Santi are back at the table and she gives him a Chivas jersey for losing and because they are now novios. He pronounces it horrible and challenges her double or nothing. If she loses she has to go to a game and cheer "Aquillas!"

Paulina pretends to roam the house trying to recall her identity. Isa asks does Pau really feel bad and Pau dolefully answers yes because nobody believes her. Isa asks does Pau remember the Three Musketeers and Mario? Pau gasps "Mario" and this gets Isa's attention.

I guess Candy won because she gloats (or would that be "goats") and takes a pic of Santi in his Chivas jersey. He pretends to hate it but he says he's happy becuase they are novios. Then the quartet starts to play Pomp and Circumstance and Santi instantly shushes them. I'm not sure I get the joke, is it because Santi and Candy are about to "graduate" to the next level or is this march sometimes played at weddings? I seem to recall this being played recently at a TN wedding but I could be wrong.

Lalo tries to tickle Chayo into making love but she tells him she has a headache and has no desire to boink. Whatever, Lalo flips over and Chayo talks about adoption, then she tries to tickle him. He says no no no no he's got a headache too but Chayo is more insistent than he is and he's a guy and...

Back at the restaurant Santi decides to count the many ways they love each other and sings "Love is a splendored thing"; heh, he missed the "many" in there but hey, if that babe were singing to me I really wouldn't care what words flew out of his lips. Candy blabs a bit that their mixed up households and relationships might be a bad example to the kids but about one second later they kiss...boy howdy do they kiss.

An irritated Paulina recalls Isa's words that an old friend came to visit. "Mario found me," she hisses.

When Santi gets home later that night Isa asks how things went. He tells her he knows the baby was born blah blah blah. Isa notes that apart from that he seems happy. He sings that he's in love tra la but then skips out before giving her the whole story.

Pat has a man to man with Charly about drug use. "Drugs kill," says Pato,"Why Charly, why?" "Why not, I'm a dead man walking" says Charly. Pat tells him, "Life is hard, with HIV, with cancer, with whatever and I know you're mad but it's time to show who you are. Are you a mediocre?" Charly is thankful for the pep talk and for not ratting him out to his dad.

It's morning and Candy awakes in her poka dot bed recalling last night's kiss. Meanwhile Santi also recalls his hot date and wakes up, this day is NOT like every other day because he's in love and writes "CANDY" on the mirror with shaving cream.

Candy's in an obnoxiously good mood with the family. Meanwhile Santi is also in an obnoxiously good mood with his family including the terminal wet blanket Paulina who plays like she's the mom of the house and everyone in it. Santi speaks rapidly and the family is amused at the way he asks for beans. Sorry, I missed this funny conversation because my boyfriend called to ask me to record the Sharks game and I had to break the bad news to him.

Meño the Metiche, on recon for Gregoria, wants Candy to tell him all about her date with the plastic doctor. Are they novios? "Nada" he reports back to Gregorio, Candy didn't spill nuthin'.

Over at the rich house Isa says Pau needs a shrink but Santi doesn't want to talk about it. Isa says OK then what about last night? She cuts to the chase, are he and Candy novios? "Si!" laughs Santi,"but don't let the paparazzi know."

Greg has a heart to heart with Candy, she tells Candy she was never very happy with her dad because he didn't show feelings and he had sex with and supported another woman. Now she's feeling for the first time that love is not a sin. Candy says she thinks Greg is the best mom because she's talking to her daughter and the important thing is that her feelings are alive.

The kids are playing together and decide to build a spaceship. (Un nave espacial, took me a while to get that one.)

Lulu is depressed but Candy encourages her not to break her pinkie promise. She blabs a few Candy platitudes and tells Lulu she loves her. Pato interrupts with Charly and says last night he discovered a problem and he needs to talk to Candy about it. Lulu makes goo goo eyes at Pato.

Back at the big house Paulina, with extreeemely skinny arms, does the dishes. Her ruse works because Isa thinks she must have amnesia if she's helping with chores. Pau says next she'll go to the garden and rake the leaves. Tina says yep she's loca but that's fine as long as she keeps working.

Pato tells Candy about Charly doing lines and now he wants to first talk to Barbara then he will tell Meño everything. Candy thanks Pato for becoming involed for the betterment of Charly. She starts to make puppy dog eyes at him and then shakes it off. Something tells me Santi's not free and clear yet.

Santi talks to Isa about buying a ring for Candy to signify their alliance. She gives Santi her own wedding ring (presumably from her first marriage but how did she just happen to have it in her hand?) and tells some story about her dad being poor. (This is another place I could use some help. Sure would be nice to know the family story.)

Someone calls Paulina, I wonder who it is? It's Mario calling to rip on her about leaving her cell phone behind. "Leave me in Peace!" she shrieks. "Calm down Pau," he says, casually tormenting her as he drives around in his convertible. She throws her phone on the bed.

Donato helps the kids build some sort of aeronave (aircraft) with wood, a garden rake, a construction cone and other junk. Santi and Miguel show up and point out they won't be the first astronauts to set food on the moon. "But the first Mexicans yes!" they shout and Santi and Miguel contratulate the kids. Santi introduces Miguel to Jaime because Miguel wants to open a bar and Jaime can play there. Jaime can play and Zamora will sing. Hmmm...

Over at Casa Bonita Toño laughs while reading the comics about Las Aventuras de Frijolito. This reminds Zamora of his dad may he rest in peace...even though he abandoned Zamora. (Hey, I wonder how Margarita Chilaquiles is doing? I ask because Toño is reading Frijolito, the comic strip that MC frequently referred to.)

Al exercises while Marissa reclines and the cute little baby lolls on the bed. Al wants to know when Mari will return to Mexico. Mari doesn't know, it's too dangerous right now. Then she cackles and says something about a rash, either the baby has one or is giving her one. Whatever it is she said I'm sure I hate her all the more for it.

Meño sadly asks Charly is he crazy for doing drugs? Charly admits he did the lines in his bedroom. Meño is stricken, did he even think about Chava the kid?

Isa watches Donato water the garden and remembers his words about two types of love. She approaches him and says sorry but she overheard him telling Tina that he was in love with Isa. She tells him that he's confusing gratitude for love. He apologizes if he offended her, he's simply a butler. Isa corrects him, he's simply a very sensible man, didn't offend her at all and will make a woman very happy.

Meño scolds Charly some more about snorting coke up in his room. Drugs will destroy the family. Meño tells him to think of his family. He has Meño's heart in his hands. Charly says he's going to die but Meño encourages him to have hope, Charly will live many more years, maybe a cure will be discovered. More talk about dying. Charly instantly decides dad is right and he feels better. Meño tells Charly "Look me in the eyes, I love you no matter how you want to say it."

Santi surprises Candy at the institute and locks the door to her office. Ooh la la they kiss. He's such a man in love. He presents the ring in a box and puts it on her finger, saying it was his mother's.

Santi: the ring is so you’ll know I’ll never hurt you. Never. The condition: you wear it until the wedding.
Candy: Wedding?
Santi: Of course! We will marry, obviously! On the day I demonstrate that you can put your total confidence in me, we’ll get married.

Hey, I think Santiago just proposed to Candy!

Mañana: The institutas toast Candy and mimic her laughter. Pato is bummed. Marissa is devious and makes Santi mad.

MEPS - Wed. 4/22 - Cap 47 - Holy Charisma, Neither EdFranco nor Barbara Can Control Their Minions

Damian, rages up the stairs and at his wits' end, packs a mighty sloppy suitcase. Gepetto is threatened by Jairo, aka badbarman again wanting to get his Mudmaiden back to work. Damian smirks at his wedding photo, slams it down, Barbara swoops into his bedroom without knocking and poses the important question, Are you packing for your honeymoon? You're missing beach clothes. He snarls, he doesn't want any of this now (no le pega la gana). He is sick of the whole family and the shower of insults (guiñapo) Not willing to lose control, Barbara asks ironically, Where are you going if not on a honeymoon. I haven't the least idea, But he has said this twice in as many minutes. Barbie is going to be an essay in facial expressions tonight.

Over at Manicomio Central, Fernanda tells Doc Obregon, I want to be alone with my sister, absolutely nothing bad will happen. please. You are sad because your good friend died. A good friend is a blessing in life do you know. yes, Lili comforts her little sister Fernanda who explains her sadness at losing someone she loved who was more than a friend.

Damian says he has had it with hysterical women like you and Fernanda and working in the service of this imbecile Gonzalo. Barbara asks, and your marriage? Does your little bride know about this? My marriage can go to hell.

EdFranco instructs Obregon, Martina will stay with Lilli night and day, As Obi resists, Ed asks, do you want to be in jail. Obi whimpers, but she is not a nurse. What really worries you. Obi caves, you will come when it pleases you.

Do you know what worries me, that Lili must not leave here unless I give the authorization. Where is Lili now? With her sister. Martina will stay with Lili and I will come every day, if there is any mishap(contratiempo) you can call me night or day, Ed assures Martina.

Barbara says, where can I call you at the house of your Mama? What about the company. What about this car, I am going to the plant for my car and I will leave this one parked there. what are you going to dedicate yourself to? Then he adds he will benefit from all her secrets (sacarle provecho de tus secretos).

You are in pain for the loss of your friend and what hurts you hurts me. Lili and Fernanda have the emotional closeness the rest of the family can only imagine. And someone died on me that was much more than a friend. Lili is really getting her consciousness back, We can escape to the house of Eduardo and my Nana Soledad. Eduardo is going go come for me. Do you want to see him. You love him more than a friend.

Barbara and Damian carry on as he tries to drive off, This sounds quite (bastante) hard. I want to hear something from you about these last damn 3 years. Before you go would you give me a few minutes. She wants to say good by as two old friends should. She drapes over the window provocatively and for a few minutes sizes him up for bite.

Margarita as one might expect is horrified that Fernanda is being hurt so much by the trick of Eduardo's pretended death. but more she saw the stone that the Eduardo and Nana are commemorated on and is outraged for the sacriligious insult to Soledad. Your good intentions are going to pave (empedrado) the way to hell. Fernanda saw those villainies (bichos) and the schemes (enjaugues) created by Eduardo. She is determined to visit the crypt, Will you come with me or I go alone. Jacinto complies.

Eduardo is driving down the road.

Barbara is driving home her point now having climbed into the car and almost into Damian's lap, You can have love only for Fernanda or Barbara. That's enough, (Suficiente) Barbara. Your desires can only can be awakened by a woman like me there is only one end, to complete all my projects then attend to our love.

* Lili selects clothes assuming she is leaving the asylum. Fernanda tells her she can't leave there but Lili insists that she want to go to the hacienda to visit her dad. Will he like this dress? Fernanda gets a more hopeful look on her face.

Barb applies hand to thigh on Damian while pressing home her point so to speak. Damian remarks, You are always so sure of yourself , then don't go too far from me. She offers him enough to be comfortable (tranquillo) the rest of his life far from the dominion of those Elizaldes. Remember in 3 days, just 3 days I will give you your liberty. and the kiss that I owe you.

On the phone, Gonzo hears that Fernanda wants to bring Lili home. She wants to see you Papa, she is really different. And she can get along very well. Dear old Dad gives in to the enthusiasm, what ever you want to make your sister happy. and they can bring her nurse. What do you think.
Papa feels a very big emotion to have your sister surrounded by her family. And Papa, you have to talk with the doctor to authorize the visit.

Vladimir talks with the nurse I am going to get married. She infers, do you want a sperm test (espermiograma) for HIV (VIH)? No, he grins, I want to see if I can have children. Then, we only need to test a bit of your sperm. Vladi smiles his consent.

Priscilla. tries to talk to Aniblah, insisting that he go with her to tell her brother Rolando and her parents of the pregnancy. but later you can complain (te quejes).

Padre Bosco do you know what happened asks Margarita. We will spare you (ahorrar), secrets here. I imagine you want to go to the crypt, Oh yes, Margarita is on a roll.

Dr. Obregon thinks Fernanda's proposal is very dangerous. Lili could have an attack or breakdown. But she can take her nurse with her, whats to worry about here? It depends on how LIliana feels at the hacienda, how long can she stay, we will see. Nurse says call me Martina, apparently Fernanda has no memory of just another poor girl from the village. I will go get Lili really pretty (retechula) to make the visit. Fernanda says to herself or the ceiling, after so many years Lili will go to the hacienda, It is a miracle!

Flor tries to enforce Aniblah's rules, for meetings in the salon Britannia, in the club: Anibal says that this room needs at least 5 days notice to reserve. She folds to Barbara's screeches, will Don Gonzalo be there? NO, only, Franco Santoro and Barbara Greco.

Barbara has such a charming phone manner, What are you saying you piece of sh.. errr stupidity (pedazo de estupidez) Dr. Obregon tells Babs that Gonzo wants to bring Lili home, he can't deny a family member permission to take her out. Damn! (maldición) curses Barbie.

* Gonzo, all cheerful, tells Barb that Fernanda is bringing Lili to the hacienda and it is all cleared with Doc. She thinks "idiot" , but says do you really know what you are doing. Pleased with himself, he beams, she will have a nurse with her so it won't be anything to worry about.

Fernanda does her girl giggle with LIli who is all excited too. Now they are really going.

Pad Bosco prays with chiming bells with Margarita and Jacinto. You were like her children. Marg starts to criticize Eduardo's villainy but Jacinto stops her, Don't say that Marg. Forgive us padre. they kiss his ring, Suddenly she takes him by the ear, hurry, (apurate) we have to get to some business.

Martina calls Franco to warn him about the going to the hacienda, As Dr. Obi interrupts, she asks did you here what the monkey (mono) said? Franco sighs. Damian shows up and sees Lili and Fernando. We can infer that the thigh squeezing worked its usual magic. Well I am going to take LIli home for the first time in 15 years. Well then let's get to the camioneta (SUV), As he goes out the door, Damian muses, Just wait until we see Babs face when she sees her step daughter with the loca one.

Erika does an awkward Ligera water product placement telling him she is reading a book and enjoying a drink. She doesn't want to pressure him about the little party with her parents, but it could be a few days later. I send you a kiss. Yeah, no pressure here...

Franco listens to his cell phone and types on his computer that he is anxious to talk to Steve but his phone has been turned off all day. Grupos Lactos, is calling in the form of Florecita, Gardenia answers and gets all giddy telling Flor, it's your cousin. Don Franco is my new boss (patron).

Aurora is nervous, Domingo is going to have a fit at her being so late. Santi pleads, we will wait for the nun 15 more minutes. The Mother Superior greets Aurora and for some odd reason, Santi goes into an accentuating his words act, Mother Superior, we want to marry and we want the. blessings, rings, all of it Mother Superior returns dryly, I am not deaf (sorda_, Aurora adds, we need to find my baptism records and do you know the name of my parents. MomSuper's expression isn't promising.

Gardenia enters Franco's office, saying I was told not to interrupt you but Flor called to make an appointment, Barbara Greco wants you to come tomorrow to have lunch with her. What do you want with this woman? the hyena. What did I tell you about questions, reprimands, Franco. She looks at the scrap of paper she wrote on, it is in the salon Britannia at 3:30pm with only elite guests invited. Please call your cousin Floracita and confirm the invitation with Barbara. Always needing the last word, Gardenia goes out saying, I have to cancel all your appointments for tomorrow so you can talk with your bigshots (sus anchas).

Only one character has so much gravel in his voice, we see the back of cigarman's head, His name is Franco Santoro. What do you want with this man? Everything, Manazanares, family friends, ambitions, weaknesses, everything. And when do you want this available (dispongo) . Yesterday it is late. And here is the address (señas) of the country estate (finca) called Las Animas. Guess Arch demon is doing his own investigation of Franco.

* The situation is getting complicated, Steve says Franco, Fernanda is bringing Lili to the hacienda. I am worried we will not be able to find out the secrets my mother left with Lili, and tomorrow I am going to have meeting with Barbara. Steve does Spanglish so perfectly, Oops this situation is grave, my friend, I would like you to have taken me to lunch.

Gardenia bursts in once again to Eduardo's office to announce that Jacinto and Margarita have arrived. They just arrived and they urgently need to talk to you. Margarita takes off mad.

MomSuperior said, Dominga said her name is Aurora because she was born on the 20th of October, Saint Aurora's day. She had had her about six years and had found her in the garbage of the market (basuras del mercado). so they put the last name (apellido) of her benefactor who rescued her.

Dominga is having a fit, the only person that gives orders (mando) is me.

Margarita is telling off Ed for telling all the horrors and lies and dirty tricks. And Pady Bosco how many lies did you tell him? And you have profaned the grave of Soledad. What tall stories (patrañas) have you told of her death. The hyena just finished with us. What did you do? This is a demonic act, to meddle (meterte) with the dead. Franco slows her down, NO, I am trying to meddle with the living like Lili.

Ed says I had the only right to bury her where I wanted And do you think that I have lost my soul, do you think it is a dirty act to move the body of my mother? No all my love and caring and I could not be their until the end to grieve her. This is unjust on your part Margi. What I want is for Barbara's deeds to be known to the living in the plain light of day.

Lili arrives home with nurse and Dam and Fernanda. she is justifiably scared and excited. She sees her papa. His usually dull eyes light up, Daughter he gleams and hugs her, my daughter. How pretty she is he adds. Lili says, and Babara? Look here she comes. Barbara she tries to say how happy to see you, but Lili shirks the attempted hug, and papa says it is Barbara my wife. Don't you remember her? You were just asking for her. Looking confused, Papa says maybe she doesn't recognize you. Lili recognizes her all right. LA HIENA, are her only words of greeting. Even the Greek Chorus says Ohhhh ohhh ohhhh ohhh and not even one MEOW.

*Last scene. Lili insists, Ed told me that he would get you out of the hacienda.

Margarita says Eduardo you can argue so much better than I can, and Eduardo say I am still the same person as before. First he has to save Liliana.

Obregon calls Ed on the phone. They drink lemonade and talk about why Lili is obsessed with Eduardo. Does she know Ed is dead? asks Babs. Fernanda says, I tried to tell her, but she keeps insisting . Lili stands up and says it is true that Eduardo is going to throw out (echar) the Hyena.

Franco tells Dr. Obregon he wants a complete report on when she is going to be back and what is going to happen. the safest place to keep Lili is in the asylum for now. Obregon says he is waiting for Mister Fantasma.

Next scenes: Ed knows Lili was put in the asylum to hide something. Lili says Eduardo is going to kick Barbara out of the hacienda. Ed prepares to go to the meeting with Barbara. We are promised a decisive episode tomorrow night.
