Llena de Amor #117 (Mex. 122) Thu 1/27/11 The Untouchables

Tonight is an evening of wanting what we can’t have, getting what we’re not supposed to, creating boundaries, reaching beyond them, finding love that has been lost and losing love we thought we had. But hope, like love, springs eternal.

Last night we left Emanuel looking dumb…founded at Bernardo’s suggestion that Vicky could be Mari.

Later, and under the perpetually full DF moon, Ilitia is becoming irate at being stood up yet again by her M.I.A. marido. She’s all dressed up with someplace to go and a taxi will do just fine. Brandon arrives ostensibly to question Emanuel but in reality to ogle the model’s assets swathed in blue satin. She reminds him there is nothing between them, nada poli. He reminds her that when he beat up Malicio he was her hero. She tells him that very morning she and Eman made hot love like never before, it was the best (lo máximo), byeee. Brandon’s bravado wilts.

Let’s go to the event. It looks like a rather staid and stodgy affair so far but I’m confident something will happen to liven things up soon.

First we have Loser-ena stalking Axel and dissing Dee. Doesn’t work.

Next up is Muñeca gushing about the success of the event and how it will help her kids. Lowrenzo Crankypants doesn’t get why she cares about all those snot-nosed brats (mocosos) which sends her off in a huff. I’m not sure why she was even talking to him so bad on her.

Emiliano is deep in thought and tells Lowman he’s worried about Kristel marrying that dope Fonseca.

Fedra strumpets, I mean struts up to the stage and suddenly I remember a phrase I learned in high school French. Il y a du monde au balcon = there are a lot of people in the balcony = she’s got a rack and a half. I wonder if there is a similar phrase in Spanish. Anyone? But I digress. Fedra’s chest approaches the stage with Fedra a foot or so behind. She starts to announce Kristel’s impending marriage and stops silent when a beauty enters the room. Fedra sneers, Malicio leers, and Axel is amazed and smitten when he recognizes Delicia.

Ilitia is still throwing daggers at Brandon’s heart, telling him she knows he likes her but she could never go for a guy like him; she and Eman are an item, “Sorreee.” Brandon pulls himself together and counters she’s wrong, his ideal woman is sweet, tender, and trembles in his embrace. “You’re talking about Victoria, right?” she snaps. Exactly, he retorts, eliciting an Ilitia snarl as he departs.

Andres and Doris (looking pretty hot herself) are pleased at Dee’s transformation. Dee hands Andres an envelope of some sort and he says he knows what he’s supposed to do. Something about pulling off Vicky’s joke against Kristel. Hmmm…I wonder if there is a DVD of Kristel and Malicio in there?

Emiliano, standing off to the side, suddenly recognizes Deer and Lowman marvels at her, inciting yet another scowl and scolding from Muñeca. Why does she even bother? Lady you kicked him out, stop following him around.

Loserena’s not happy to see Dee but her male companion sure enjoys the view.

Fedra and Kristel, sporting big hair, plot to give Dee the bum’s rush.

Over at the hospital Netty is relieved to hear that net head Vicky is doing better and will be released soon.

Back at the party Fedra approaches Dee like a predator approaching a kitten. She smiles and comments nastily that one can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. How dare Dee show herself at this event? She pushes by Axel and tries to strong arm Dee out the door but is stopped by Emiliano who admonishes his wife, Dee is Axel’s guest so cut the crap and behave. Fedra hisses they’ll all be sorry. I’m pretty sure Emiliano already is.

We’re at the pension with Gladi and Consuelo. Are we going to have more Tacos al Pastor? Special biscuits? Perfect coffee? Nope, no product placement this time, just some gossip about Oliver and Gman then griping about Consuelo and Brandon. Gladi thinks the whole household is going crazy (todo esta de cabeza). Consuelo gossips hopefully that when Netty gets back maybe she will kick Gman and his sister out. Gladi says if flirting is what gets one kicked out of the house then Consuelo will be the first at the door. She’d look a whole lot better if she’d keep her mouth shut (calladita te ves mas bonita).

At the party Muñeca unveils a cofre of hope, where Jacqui and the other models deposit copious wads of money while Muñeca thanks everyone for helping to build a clinic so poor children can get medical care. She introduces a special musical guest…Axel!

Fedra squirms and gripes until Emiliano tells her to control herself or go home. She angrily flicks her wayward curls. Axel dedicates his song to a special woman and Dee looks around jealously. Very cute. He dedicates the song to Delicia, strums a few chords, the guitar is thankfully mostly in tune, and demonstrates to us the benefits of practice. He still needs to go to the academy but he’s vastly improved. Anyway, it doesn’t matter what we think, Dee is enrapt and a tear falls down her lovely face. Oh to be young and in love. Lorena’s crying too, but she ain’t happy. Will she finally admit defeat?

Oliver and Gman are sitting on a loveseat holding hands and kvetching over whether or not Fedra and Bernardo were responsible for Vicky’s accident. Oli assures Gman that Vicky will be OK, she’s strong. These two are making up for lost time and Oli thinks that Gman is adorable with his little moustache and all, he loves it! Big time smooching ensues until Netty arrives home and is grossed out, ewwwwww! She falls on the bench in an overly dramatic homophobic faint.

Vicky is awakened by a dark visitor. It’s the real El Lirio de Plata and he wants to know who she really is. He knows she’s lying and he wants to know why. He knows she’s Marianela Ruiz y de Teresa. Cara impactada de MariVicky.

Oli and Gman tend to a supine Netty. Gman is sure they’ve killed her for good. She wakes and Oli wants to explain but Netty won’t shut up as usual. In an unexpected twist she insists she’ll have no immorality in her house; in this country same sexes can get married and get married they will!

Vicky tells El Lirio that her entry wasn’t on the airline register because she came into Mexico by way of Argentina. Mari is in hiding to protect herself from Fedra and Eman. She asks him why he was horrible to her the other day and El Lirio laughs that was an imposter trying to soil his name. He caresses her face and says he’s never met a woman quite like her before.

Axel concludes his wailings of teen angst and stumbles toward his smitten kitten. I find their public kiss adorable but Kristel is on a tear and cannot contain her disgust. She staggers toward Loserena and begs her to help out.

Netty’s already got the wedding planned. Manolo will wear white, Oli will wear black, the most adorable novio y novio ever. Gman’s on board with the charade but Oli can’t stand keeping a secret from her. Tell her Gman. “Don’t you know me?” asks Gman as she removes her moustache and wig.

Axel and Dee have relocated to a quieter spot but their romantic revery is interrupted, first by an incredulous Ilitia, and then by his shrewish sister who announces that this low life is none other than their servant! Lorena jumps into the fray and things get out of hand. Poor Dee is horrified to be on the receiving end of such vile vituperation.

Netty picks herself up from the floor again while Gretel and Oliver bring her up to speed. Netty, champion of the saucer-eyed stare, beats her previous world record.

Back at the event Malicio holds Axel while Kristel and Loserena publicly humiliate Delicia. They try to rip her dress but she breaks free, runs away and loses a dainty heel in the process. Axel punches Malicio and runs after his Cenicienta (remember our vocabulary?)

Netty is about as mad as she’s ever been when she hears of Fedra’s perversity in locking up Gretel for two years. Netty wants to go after Fedra right now but they convince her to wait because they are on the verge of revealing all her crimes. (I’m not holding my breath.) Gretel says her dad is an idiot for not marrying Netty. Big group hug.

MV and El Lirio are still comparing the real El Lirio to the fake when suddenly there is a loud knock on her door. It’s Brandon, not happy to be locked out of the room. He knocks and yells while El Lirio kisses MV’s hand, says he’ll see her again soon and escapes out the window that is supposedly too high. Luckily El Lirio is a world class athlete. Brandon busts into the room and suspiciously looks around wondering if MV was alone.

Back at the party Fedra and Bernardo are having a villanous confab about Eman. He thinks the worst of Fedra thanks to Tio Brutus Maximus and Marianela. Bernardo says he suspects but he knows nothing, she has to keep up her façade in front of him because if he learns what they did… Then Bernardo gets all maudlin and, while Fedra plays her violin in the background, he recalls being a child and dreaming of being a man of the sea. He starts to caress her face and, “Don’t touch me!” she snarls.

Lowrenzo sees it all and berates Bernardo for having the gall to touch his boss-lady. He shouldn’t forget he works for the R y de Ts and should keep his hands off his woman, and don’t “tutear” him! (Has Lowrenzo forgotten that Bernardo can kick his puny butt?) Lowman persists in annoying Bernardo and tells him to watch out. “Not if I see you first,” Bernardo hisses, mimicking Lowman.

Brandon is sure that Vicky’s accident was no accident. Somebody is trying to kill her, most likely Fedra. Vicky says Fedra is going to pay for what she did to Mari, she’ll put her plan into action and now more than ever she needs Brandon’s help. They shake on it.

The event seems to be winding down with Muñeca standing by her big box of money thanking all the donors. Lowrenzo goes on stage to gush about his wonderful wife and all the work she does for the children. He tears up over his admirable wife, hugs her, cries over all the work she does for the angels in the street and deposits a huge, huge donation. Meanwhile Fedra sits in the audience laughing at his antics.

Lowman and Malicio snicker at his performance and whisper that their plan is coming along perfectly.

Ilitia snubs her father even though he swears he wants to win her mother back. She says mom is much better off without him. He cries alligator tears and she agrees to talk to him. Ugh.

Nereida is complaining to Paula about Dee going to the party when suddenly a distraught Axel rushes in. No, they haven’t seen Dee since she left for the party.

Cut to a sad scene of our tragic princess sobbing by the side of the road. No pumpkin carriage for her tonight, the public bus will have to suffice.

Doris arrives at the hospital and reports that Dee looked fabulous. Apparently she is oblivious of the class struggle that happened outside the charity event. She reports that Andres is locked and loaded to carry out MV’s plot against Kristel. MV tells her pal that Fedra and others suspect Mari and Vicky are the same person. Doris rubs her hands together and says this is her specialty, she can make Marianela reappear. But isn’t she supposed to be married to some Spanish hunk? Where are they going to find him? (At least I think that's what she said.)

La Verdad Oculta EP93 01/27/2011 – The stuff hit the fan. Twice.

*At AFI Leonardo wants to know every single detail about Juan José’s relationship with mysterious trio aka Garnica, Zaida and Sevilla. JJ obediently tells him everything and also mentions that Zaida lives in the same house as Elsa. Elsa who? Elsa Rivera, the sister of JJ’s cellmate! Hmm, qué interesante… Leo, the hound picks up the scent.

* In the Genovés villa Gabriela is diligently studying Business and Management 101 because she doesn’t want to depend on David and Mario every time she has to attend a business meeting. She also confesses to David she finds the book very interesting. Papa Blondie is proud, very proud. Kiss.

* Adolfo summons one of his goons to the condo and gives him an address and the names of two kids: Chewing Gum and Candy whom he’ll have to kidnap and bring hide at Yolanda’s flat.

* At JJ’s Asunción and Lucha scold Chicles for being a liar, and threaten him with sending him back to his daddy’s flat if he doesn’t behave well. Please, don’t do that, he doesn’t want to sell chewing gums again! He swears he’ll be a good boy which melts the adults’ hearts. Yeah. Five minutes later he tries to fish the letter again but he’s interrupted by Lucha.

* Leonardo visits Elsa to ask her about Zaida Castellanos and Dante Sevilla, but almost every single question of his is answered by curious and enthusiastic Ulises who tells the cop everything: of course, Zaida darling is his best friend, she found a job for Elsita who’s selling jewels nowadays! Leo admits that’s why he came there… jewels. The police suspects Sevilla is involved in the jewel smuggling business and now he has to arrest Elsa. Stuff meets fan, numero uno. While Leo is dragging her out of the flat, Elsa asks Ulises to call Juan José.

* Adolfo scolds idiot Zaida for mandhandling that kid in her own flat, and anyway, he’s sure she only wanted to use that letter against him. Braless feigns innocence and irritated Adolfo says okay, okay, but now she has to disappear for a while. In the middle of their conversation Zaida gets a phonecall from Leonardo who asks her about Sevilla. Who? She doesn’t remember any Sevilla. But you introduced him to Juan José Victoria. Of course now she remembers him. Look, Miss Castellanos, if she doesn’t want problems then take Leo’s advice and cooperate with the police. She gives him Dante’s address and Lionheart orders her not to leave town. When Adolfo finally learns she’s speaking with Faidella he almost starts to bang his head into the wall. Great! Now she can’t go to the seaside house and they’ll have to find another hideout.

* In the interrogation room Leonardo plays scenes from the procedural TV shows and tries to frighten Elsa (who’s already scared half to dead). Javier Garnica! Dante Sevilla! Zaida Castellanos! What does she know about them, what is she hiding from him, and is her jailbird brother connected with those people? Those guys robbed 10 million pesos from JJ.

* In the meantime worried Ulises tells the news to Juan José who immediately hurries to the AFI centre where Leo gives him and Elsa 10 minutes to talk privately. The crying girl and the worried pumpkinhead hug each other and JJ ensures Elsa he’ll get her out of prison. Just be strong and don’t worry, everything will be fine.

*In their bedroom David tells Gaby she has to attend in another meeting next day, and this time she’ll discuss the redesign of the hotels, but don’t worry, he spent the afternoon with figuring out what to say. Oh no, again? But she can’t learn everything in a single night… And anyway, she wanted to do something else that night, wink, wink.

* At home JJ tells Alejandra what happened to Elsa. And she really didn’t know the jewels were stolen, asks Ale sarcastically. Come on, her brother may be a criminal, but Elsa is innocent, says JJ and he remembers back to the good old days when she visited them in jail. Juan José’s worry for Elsa’s wellbeing makes Ale’s head fume.

* Next morning Adolfo’s henchman is spying on Asunción, Caramelo and Chicles who are going to school. The goon and his helpmate follow their taxi and try to catch them, but since they kids are late from work Limón begs the taxi driver to drive faster… and the bad boys lose their track. 1:0 to Asunción.

* When Yolanda wakes up in the hospital she sees this:

Muñeco! When he mentions the strange things she said while she was asleep (jewels, shoes, a dress, Marta, Santiago) she says they didn’t mean anything, she’s just becoming mad. She can’t bear more, she only wants to sleep… forever. She’s fed up with the tons of secrets, lies and infamies. And who obliged her to live that way? Adolfo?! No, Yolanda’s real problem is her own conscience that torments her and drives her crazy. Carlos doesn’t want to judge her since he loves her like a mother, but she must strengthen her heart and soul! But she doesn’t want to live anymore… Oh, Yolanda, no! He will help her… and to be honest, he also needs her support. That’s exactly what Yolanda needed to hear. Really? He needs her? Seriously? Of course! Then please forgive her! * Moustache, Yolanda and Viewerville cry*

*At the hotel FrancoDavid and Asunción set up the accessories for the next business meeting where the Fighting Genovéses do a stellar job.

* Leo shows up at Mauricio to ask a few questions about Garnica, JJ and Elsa Rivera. Mau tells him she used to work for him and they were going to marry. And did he know she was working for Dante Sevilla? No, Mau is really surprised at the news. And does he believe in Elsa’s integrity? Of course, he does! *Viewerville: good boy* Well, architect, there’s a little problem… Elsa is accused with smuggling and she’s under arrest. In the meantime at JJ’s Alejandra tries to cheer Caramelo up who’s missing her mommy and starts to teach her how to use the computer.

* A furious, hot policeman shows up at the Ávila condo and asks amused and self-assured Adolfo about Dante Sevilla. Oh, Dante! He hasn’t seen him for ages. Leo thinks, he did meet him recently – thanks to Zaida Castellanos. Zaida who? Sorry, Adolfo doesn’t know any Zaida. Of course, he does, they met in a restaurant and she confirmed it. Basta ya! Adolfo’s fed up with Leonardo’s visits and his threatening. Next time he’ll have to talk with his lawyer first. Oh, is he talking about Javier Garnica? He is his lawyer, isn’t he? Adolfo’s ears start to fume.

*Alejandra and the kids spend a very pleasant afternoon in a shopping centre. This time the gangsters manage to follow them and while Ale and the children are having fun (and Ale is trying to keep Chicles from stealing toys), they damage the tires of the woman’s car. When they return to the car park Alejandra notices the destroyed tire and the genius decides to ask help in the mall. She asks the children to stay in the car and lock the doors while she’s away, but darling, you don’t know Chicles. As soon as she leaves, the little boy opens the door – and gives an opportunity to the goons who kidnap the helpless children. Stuff meets fan, numero dos.

La Fea Más Bella #187-188 1/27/11 Ain’t no filler like event filler.

Capitulo 187.
Read Julie’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. The bellas are all fluttering around Aldo, but he tells them he prefers to be with Lety. He says being with her makes him very content, but he realizes that she’s trying to recover from Fernando. (Tu servidor recapper asks, then why does he crowd her, trying to kiss her again?)

2. Aldo says she’s very special to him, and that makes her glow. Aldo goes through a list of all the things that make Lety special to him, and he ends with, “You and I are here, and there’s a special magic.” Caro snaps their picture, mid-hug. As they leave, Aldo says to himself, “Mi Lety.”

3. Omar essentially reminds Fernando that every option is doomed. He suggests maybe Lety never really loved him, and Fern tries to hit him. Fern says he’s starting to accept reality (IOW give up) about Lety. He had to hit bottom. He went to Acapulco to kill himself. But Marcia made him see things differently. She still loves him and she doesn’t want to forget about him, despite everything.

4. Fern says Marcia told him to pack up his things, but he couldn’t. Marcia evaluates the situation with MamaT. Fern feels betrayed, but Marcia doesn’t know what will happen when Lety returns.

5. The Conceptos lawyer calls Fern and tells him they need to get Lety into a meeting. It would be better to reach a settlement than to prosecute.

6. Tom tells MamaJ that he had to tell the HaHA’s the truth behind the embargo, and they were pretty mad. MamaJ tells Tom that Fern called, and she’s not about to let him destroy her daughter nor talk to her husband about what Lety did.

7. Aldo has to talk to Caro so he doesn’t explode. He says he’s falling in love with Lety, but he knows if he tells her, she’ll take off running.

Capitulo 188.
Read Chapel Hill Fiddler’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Omar says, “Don’t tell me you still have compassion for Lety.” Fern says, “No. I hope she’s out of my life, and marries someone and goes far away.” (Tu servidor recapper says, “Careful what you wish for.”) He calls Julieta and asks to speak to Erasmo, then tries to spit out that Lety needs to return so things don’t get complicated. MamaJ orders him to respect her house. She hangs up and unplugs the phones.

2. Lety tells Anaís that Conceptos was killing her, but here she’s recovering, thanks to Aldo.

3. Marcia discovers that Fernando didn’t take the suitcase. She calls and Fern says he didn’t have time. She tells him to come and haul it off.

4. Fern sees Lety on TV but he thinks he’s imagining it. Lu sings “Life after you is sadness, etc.” and “I can’t live without you.” Lety, Marcia, and Fernando cry over the song, even though Fern’s not watching the pageant. Alicia wonders why Marcia’s not finding fault with all the contestants like they did last year.

5. Fernando gives up. He tells himself, “Enough! I can’t go on deceiving myself. Lety’s not going to return because she doesn’t love me. Because I lost her and it was my own fault. My huge stupidity. I lost Lety forever.” He pulls up to a bar to numb the pain, but remembering last night, he drives away.

6. When the pageant finishes, Lety says she wants to go say good-bye to Acapulco and the ocean. Aldo promises to make it an unforgettable night.

Eva Luna #58 Wed 1/26/11 Who will find Eva first?

Fran and Jacky are arguing. Jacky tells Fran she is angry because of all his lies to the poor Marisol. She accuses him of being in love with his money. He tells her he is in love with her. Marisol challenges that and tells him he is not in love with her. He is in love with her money. He says “So.” Jacky tells him he is shameless (un cinico) and she doesn’t approve of his relationship with Marisol and all his lies. Fran, full of him self and smiling says “You’re jealous, right?” Jacky trying to not appear jealous looks shocked that he would say this and throws her towel at him and leaves.

Renata is sitting in the kitchen and Auriel asks if she wants more tea. Renata is picking at her finger nails than disgustingly takes her hand to her mouth and tells her in quite a demeaning tone “If I wanted more I would have asked for it.

Auriel tells her it is really hard to be nice to her. Renata tells her she doesn’t need her niceness. Auriel insightfully tells her, he face tells a different story and it looks like she does need some one to vent to (desahogarse.) Renata tells her she has been alone for a long time and her problems are hers alone. No one can help her solve her problems and in the meantime she does not need to vent. Auriel tells her “That’s fine. But to be happy in this life you have to start to care for yourself and learn how to forgive.”

Marcella’s day is not beginning very well. She is telling one of her secretary’s she needs to talk with Bruno. The secretary tells her he isn’t here yet. She tells her to find him and tell him to come to the office now. Giorgio shows up and Marcella asks him he made the bank transfers. He tells her he wasn’t able to. She asks him why not. He tells her the accounts are frozen. (congeladas) This brings Marcella immediately to her feet and asks him what he’s talking about. Giorgio tells her she can’t move a single dollar to her account.

Marcella is furious and wants to know who told him that. He tells her it was the bank manager. Marcella can’t believe this is possible. Giorgio tells her he couldn’t get any further information and that she should talk to the bank as soon as possible. She tells him “You bet I will talk to them!!” and leaves.

Julio is talking with our good Dr. Garcia. He tells him he is feeling much better. The dr. tells him he needs to be his trip off until tomorrow. Julio tells him he can’t waste any more time. Dr. G. reminds him he has been under both great physical and mental stress. Julio tells him his plan is already in progress and now he has to continue with it.

Justa is sitting on her bed weeping her eyes out, looking at her old photos She is asking his photo to forgive her for never telling him the truth. (Now that’s a galan) She is lamenting that he was taken so fast and she wasn’t allowed to see him one final time to tell him the whole truth and that she never stopped loving him.

Dr. Garcia is telling Julio if he continues with his vengeance against Marcella it could destroy him as well. He is now smiling and tells Dr. G. He will be calm once he has his divine angel, Eva, in front of him.

Dr. G. asks him why he named her his principle heir. He says “I will tell you honestly. Eva is noble, good, smart and with her work she gained my respect. And with her nobility, my admiration.”

Ricardo has now joined Justa. She tells him “He’s gone and I wasn’t able to confess to him everything that happened.” Ricardo gently puts a hand to her shoulder for support.

Don Julio continues “In the short time she was with me, I received so much care and so much energy for life, then in all the time I have spent with my children.” Dr. G. can’t imagine how surprised she will be when she sees him and finds out everything he has done. Julio tells him he isn’t going to tell her about the inheritance until he prepares her to confront and live her new life.

Dan is sitting in his office in deep thought. He is having a flashback about his confrontation with Alicia. You have to admire a man who can look that good in a pink shirt.

His flashback is interrupted by Vicky who is carrying a pink gift bag. He asks what it is and she tells him it is a gift for Laurita. He asks why she doesn’t just give it to her herself when she sees her tonight. Vicky tells him that she would but she knows Laurita would not accept it from her and that it would probably be better if he gave it to her and when he did to say nice things about her as it would help for her to accept Vicky . Dan has a panicked look on his face at this suggestion. She walks over closer to him and says “Now that we are a couple again, sooner or later she will find out” and kisses him sweetly on the lips.
(Thank goodness I am not wearing shoes tonight!!) Dan looks at the picture of Laurita sitting on his desk and puts his hand to his brow as if to signify he is not looking forward to that moment.

Julio has two more favors to ask of Dr. G. Get him another private car and put it in the name of Vincent Olmas within the hour and get the keys to his new house. He hopes to return tonight with Eva. Dr. G. tells him that Marcella has to really hate Eva by now after the reading of the will and this will just send her over the edge. (I think that is what he said.) Julio tells him that Marcella has a few more nasty surprises in store for her as he laughs at this thought.

Marcella is not laughing as she is talking to the bank manager asking him who authorized the freezing of all her assets. The manger tells her it was her husband. She asks how. He tells her a few days ago he was at the bank and ordered them to do it. Marcella is livid and says “what an outrage!! My husband just died a few days ago.” The manager tells her he is sorry for the sad news. Marcella smart mouths back to him and tells him to find a away to remove the order. She tells him to talk to whoever he needs to but to solve the problem immediately. The manager tells her he will do what ever he can. Marcella now in a lower voice with black glove to mouth assures him that if he can resolve this problem she will pay him ten times what she paid him when he helped her with the check and that women. She whispers “you know what I am talking about.” He tells her he will get working on it right away and get back to her as soon as he gets any news.

Giorgio approaches Marcella and asks her what is going on. She tells him that before he died, Juliofroze all her assets. Giorgio looks dumfounded and says it has to be a mistake. Marcella tells him, of course it has to be a mistake but soon the manager will resolve the entire problem.

There were several Marisol and Fran scenes thrown in for kicks and giggles. Like I said. It is a good thing I am not wearing any shoes. Enough already. They are sitting on a park bench looking for the appropriate mansion. Marisol is much more excited about this than Fran. FF> #1

Alicia is at work and is summoned to go and talk to Leo. She looks quite apprehensive about this.

More Marisol and Fran house hunting. FF>> #2

We have a little time with Eva and Matilda. They are cleaning the kitchen. Eva tells her that tomorrow she will look for Jose and ask for work she doesn’t want to be a burden to her. Matilda tells her not to be crazy. It could be dangerous, what if the authorities found out where she was. At this time Eva has a little dizzy spell and an anxious Matilda helps her sit down asking her what’s wrong. Any guesses out there in viewer Ville?? She tells Matilda she has felt like this for a few days now. She tells her it has to do with this man that she has been telling her about.

Marcella has a puzzled look on her face. Saying this can’t be possible. How could this man do this to her. How could he be so determined (empeñó) to destroy her in this manner. Then she thinks for a while and says “Could he have found out I was poisoning him?” Than she sits down saying no, that can’t be possible. He would have confronted her. She looks very worried.

Her secretary enters and tells her the bank manager is here. She says “He has assuredly resolved everything. Tell him to come in.” as she wipes what may or may not be a tear from the corner of her eye.

Alicia is twitting out in Leo’s office as he enters and asks if he is going to fire her. He smiles sinisterly and tells her it has nothing to do with that. He tells her she is a great make-up artist. Then she says “And Daniel?” He tells her not to worry about him any more. He knows how to handle him,

The bank manager has entered Marcella’s office and she greets him with out stretched hand saying she knew he wouldn’t fail her. She tells him she will write him a check right away. The bank manager waves her off and tells her not to do that. Her assets are still frozen. Marcella looks unhappy as she says so why are you here? He tells her things are much worse. He tells her when he talked to the bank president he was told that no one could do this for her. He continues to tell her that it was her husband that ordered them to not let her move a single cent from these accounts. Marcella is speechless.

Alicia tells Leo it is a small world after all. She surmises that he is the same person who gave Eva a job and gave her the ear rings. He tells her yes because he holds her in high esteem. She tells him that she Eva feels the same way. Leo says “well in that case why don’t you tell me where I can find her?” Alicia is speechless.

Matilda is bringing a glass of juice to Eva and tells her that all she thinks about is work. Eva tells her it is because she needs money. We hear a knock on the door and sheer panic takes over Eva’s face. Matilda goes to the door and answers it. We hear a very rich deep voice asking if Eva is there. Eva is now hiding against the wall as Matilda asks who he is and he says “Yourr humble servant, (su servidor) Julio Arismendi.”

Eva is beyond disbelief as she holds her hand to her mouth and says this can’t be as she backs away from him as he approaches her telling her it is him. She is now panicked as she says he is dead and she starts to hyperventilates and faints. Julio agilely catches her as a useless Matilda looks on.

The bank manager is apologizing to Marcella. She is still having a hard time wrapping her head around all this. He tells her that he talked to everyone that dealt with her husband and everything is in order. Her husband ordered them to not give her one cent from the accounts. She asks him if there is anything to do to get past this order. He tells her unfortunately it is out of his hands and he can’t help her. Marcella swallows hard and then asks to be left alone.

Now I am sure that’s a tear, as she takes her white hankie to her nose as Giorgio rushes in to ask if everything is all right. She sniffs back, and looks up at him taking her hand from her face and says yes.

Leo is now working the con on Alicia to gain her trust as he asks her to sit down. Alicia looks a bit frightened. He tells her it was him he helped hide Eva a few days ago. This seems to surprise Alicia as she tells him she didn’t know this. He tells her when she left he was really worried about her and asks her where she is. Alicia lies and tells him she doesn’t know where she is. Leo asks her for her help in finding her. He then starts his heavy handed charm routine and tells her she is her sister and is probably just thinking about her well being but the only thing he wants to do is help her. Alicia is silent to his pleas.

Eva is now revived and asks Matilda what happened. She tells her she fainted. She tells Matilda she thought she saw Don Julio, then looks over to see his sparkling smile. She tells him she thought she was seeing things.

She walks over to him, wanting to know how it is possible that he is there and alive and gives him a big hug. He tells her it is a long story. She tells him she was told he was dead. He smiles and tells her that is what everyone thinks. She asks him why, and he says because he decided to have it that way. He tells her not to worry about this right now. He tells her what they have to do now is for her to get better. He promises her that from now on her life will be very different. She asks how. He tells her she will find out in due time even though she will have a hard time believing it. She tells him she doesn’t understand a thing but is just grateful that he is alive as she hugs and kisses him to his pure delight.

Leo tells Alicia he doesn’t believe her. He doesn’t believe she isn’t able to get in touch with her. Alicia takes a big breath and tells him that Eva has gone through some rough times since she has known the two of them (Leo and Dan.) Leo tells her he knows but he only wants to protect her. (I am looking for a shoe!!) Alicia tells him maybe he does, but Daniel doesn’t. Leo goes on to say, Daniel hates her and just wants her in jail. Alicia is jumping mad now and bad talks Dan some more and says now she will probably loose her job. Leo tells her this will not happen. Then he tells her not to say anything to anyone or Daniel will just become more hateful and violent, but Daniel is the cause of all of Eva’s suffering. He tells her “the only thing I am guilty of is trying to help Eva.” (Shoe please!!)

Dan’s secretary is bringing him some papers to revise. She sets them on the table. He is sitting on the sofa touching the pink gift bag looking quite depressed. She asks him if anything is wrong. He tells her Vicky brought this gift for Laurita and he doesn’t know how to give it to her. He tells her it will be very hard for his daughter to accept the fact he is going back to Vicky. Our wise beyond her wardrobe young secretary sits down and says “Seriously, your thinking about going back to her?” He tells her the only thing he is certain of is that Eva made a mockery of the love him and Laurita demonstrated for her. This can’t be forgiven he tells her. Wise one says to unwise one “I understand this but that is no reason to go back to someone, especially someone you don’t love.” Clueless Dan tells her “Victoria has demonstrated the great love she has for me. She deserves to have it returned.”

We move over to another pity party as Marcella is sitting at her table distraught to no end as Giorgio is consoling her. He tells her to take a big breath as he goes to fetch her a drink. Weepingly she tells him he doesn’t a clue as to what she is going through right now. Giorgio asks her what the bank manager told her. She tells him that Julio took away her authority to sign any of her accounts and took away her authority to touch any of this money. Giorgio has now returned with a drink for her as he listens in utter shock.

He asks her why Julio would have done such an outrageous thing. She looks at him and through soggy tears tells him it is all Eva’s fault. Giorgio says “What, the little snot that works at your house? What does she have to do with any of this?” Marcella tells him much more than he could ever imagine.

Alicia is wisely grabbing her purse and is telling Leo she needs to leave. He grabs onto her arm and tells her if she really cares about her sister and wants to help get her out of trouble to tell him where she is. Alicia firmly stands her ground and tells him she does not know where she is. He backs off and says “okay but if you talk to her ask her about me. Tell her you know who I am and that I am desperately looking for her.” Alicia looks at him as if she were constipated as he continues:

“I have something important to tell her.” Alicia asks him what is so important and he tells her he can’t tell her. Alicia looks at him and says “That’s the problem. Every body has secrets and I don’t know who to trust. It is best I don’t open my mouth and just leave.” (I am proud of you Alicia)

Leo now forcefully pulls her back as she tries to leave and tells her he is very serious. He has something very important to tell her sister that will change her life completely as well as Alicia‘s. At that very moment a very indignant Tony walks in.

Tony is all bent out of shape as he angrily tells Leo not to ever touch Alicia again. Alicia is speechless as Leo shouts back at him to not act so stupid and how dare he enter without being announced. Who does he think he is. Tony is shaken for a few seconds then comes back and says his assistant was not there and he heard his girlfriends voice. Now Alicia is all bent out of shape as she tells him she screams she is not his girlfriend. She turns to Leo and repeats this for his benefit. Tony holds an angered hand towards Alicia and tells her they will talk about this later at the pension.

Now Leo and Tony are verbally going at it. Leo tells Tony that Alicia works here and if she is in his office it is for business. Tony isn’t buying this as he says “Since when are work reunions done so close together. I walked in and you were stuck together.” as he demonstrates their closeness.

Leo confronts him and tells him there is no way he will allow him to come to his office and act all jealous. Alicia is also chewing him out of embarrassing her like this. Tony is now shaking is head at her trash talking her, telling her she was coming on to Leo and she is a nobody. Leo now hopping mad tells Tony he won’t allow him to disrespect her and to leave now!! Tony swallows hard.

Eva is now asking Julio how he knew where she was. He tells her he went to the pension and talked to Alicia. Eva is upset saying she told Alicia not to say anything to anyone. Julio tells her that Alicia didn’t want to tell him anything. He had to work very hard to convince her but thankfully Eva had talked really well about him. He tells her he hopes she isn’t upset because Alicia told him where she was. Eva smiles and tells him of course not.

Julio now looking more serious says “Now tell me one thing that is very important to me. Did you steal the money?” Eva stares at him as Matilda defends her, as Eva says “I didn’t rob any one, but I think that is what you believe.” Julio smiles now and tells her that he has always believed in her, but it was necessary to hear her tell him while looking in his eyes. He tells her he believes strongly in her and has a proposition for her.

Tony hurt now, looks at Alicia and tells her he will never talk to her again. Alicia is crying. (Honey that’s a good thing to be rid of that thug.) He leaves and Alicia is all torn up. Now she is all worried that Leo will certainly fire her. He tells her to calm down. Alicia tells him that Tony is crazy. Leo approaches her now and tells her he is not that crazy. He tells her Tony is right about one thing. Alicia asks what? He says about being jealous. Alicia looks up at him as he says “because you like me more than you say.”. Then he coyly says, “You know that.”

Julio asks Eva to return with him to Los Angeles. Eva tells him she can’t go back. The police are looking for her. Her picture is in all the papers. He tells her if he was able to find her that it won’t take long for everyone else to find her. Matilda agrees with this logic as Eva panics and says she has to leave where she is. Julio asks her where she thinks she will go. Eva doesn’t know but she does want the police to come here and get her Aunt all involved. Julio asks her if she wants to live always on the run? Eva tells him of course not. Julio says than trust in me and return with me to the city.

Alicia is now all embarrassed as she starts to leave Leo’s office telling him she has to get back to work. Old snake in the grass grabs her and tells her not to get all nervous. He is just telling her the truth. He tells her she is a beautiful woman. She attempts to leave again all nervously like a young school girl and Leo pulls her back. And again tells her that sooner later Eva will call her and when she does, don’t forget to tell her he wants to talk to her. Alicia smiles a bit nervously and leaves telling him she has to get back to work. Leo tells himself he has to get Alicia to fall in love with him, so he can get her to tell him where Eva is.

Giorgio is still sitting by weepy Marcella. He tells her with everything that she has just told him he is in shock. Marcella says “Me too, when I found out Julio didn‘t leave me a single penny.” Giorgio stands and says “If you will permit me, I think I need a brandy” and goes to get one. He asks her what she plans do do now. She tells him “I don’t know. For the first time in my life I don’t have a clear solution. I want to contest (impugnar) the will but my lawyers tell me that everything is totally legal and I can’t do anything about it.” Giorgio tells her that this is terrible, it means that the little snot can come by at any moment and claim her rightful position in the business. Marcella continues to weep.

I am going to condense all the house hunting scenes. Fran and Marisol go to various mansions. Marisol loves them all. Fran pretends to but always finds fault with something. To many bedrooms, not a big enough Jacuzzi, bees in the trees and so on and so on.

Marcella tells Giorgio that the only solution now is for Eva to return and face her. (I love all the tear wiping and not a single pound of her make up is smudged.)

Giorgio looks aghast as he asks her why she would want Eva to show up. Marcella says in her most evil tone “ Because if I have her close I can finish her off. I can destroy her.” Giorgio looks on in horror and swallows hard.

Olga enters and Marcella snaps at her. Why would she interrupt her at this time. Olga tells her that the people she brought the material from are upset because her check bounced. Marcella stands up and angrily tells her to shut up. Then she whispers to her to not say a word of this to anyone. She asks her then to pass the call to her and tell Bruno to get up here immediately. Giorgio hands her the phone and she tells him to leave.

Marcella is now on the phone and tells the people on the phone that it is all just a bank error and she assures them that everything will be cleared up in a few days. Bruno has finally showed up. Marcella continues her conversation and tells them that she is offended by this. She has always done business with them and has never failed to pay. They must be telling her something she does not want to hear, as she says “You will be the ones who will be sorry. If you don’t give me this extension I will find someone else and hangs up angrily. (or something like that. This always seems to be where I tend to loose it and have no idea what is going on.)

Bruno has been standing there the whole time listening in intently. Marcella suddenly looks up and sees him and snaps “What are you doing here!!?" Bruno looks quite stunned as if he wanted to run away.

She continues yelling at him and asks him why he didn’t knock. He looks quite confused as he answers her and tells her Giorgio told him she was waiting for him.

Matilda is offering Julio a coffee. He laughs and says no but he wouldn’t mind a cup of tea. Eva tells him she really is afraid to go back to the city. He assures her he will protect her. He won’t let the police find her let alone arrest her. She still tells him she can’t go back with him. Julio tells her to tell him what is going on. She says his wife and daughter just want to cause her damage. Then she says “And him too.”

Julio seems puzzled at first and says Daniel? She tells him it was Daniel who called the police on her. Julio is shaking his head in disbelief and tells her she is mistaken. She tells him no, if only it was a mistake but it is the truth. He tells her it was Marcella that set this all up. It was just one of her dirty tricks. Eva tells him that Daniel’s name was also on the arrest warrant. She continues to say he also wants her caught. Old Julio starts to role this around in his brain.

He tells Eva that this is really hard for him to believe what she is telling him about Daniel. Eva tells him it was hard for her to believe it too. She tells him that Alicia saw his name on the papers. Julio is still not willing to believe this as he shakes his head.

Eva asks him why he is doing all this to make his family believe he is dead. She wants to not what is going on. Julio is laughing is enchanting deep laugh as he tells her “The only thing I can tell you right now is that they tried to hurt you and me as well.” Eva looks at him surprised to hear this. He tells her she caused him great harm and that is why she needs to return with him. They need to unite to serve justice.

Marcella is tossing papers to Bruno and tells him he needs to revise them. The costs are way to high!! He tells her that it is because it is top quality stuff suitable to their standards. She grabs them back from him and he asks her what is going on? He asks her if she thinks he is robbing her. She snaps at him and says if that were the case she would have fired him. He seems confused and asks what is going on why is she so agitated (alterada.)

I think she tells him for now there won’t be anything extra. They will just have the fashion show and nothing extra. Bruno asks her if there are economical problems. She stares at him and tells him not ask questions just limit himself to obeying her orders.

Eva demands to know what they did to him. She wants to know why he needs justice. He tells her he will tell her everything once they are settled in Los Angeles. She tells him she is afraid to go. He reassures her that he will protect her. He tells her also that her life is about to change 180 degrees. Eva wants to know why he is being so mysterious. He tells her that he is also afraid to go to forward with his plans. His plans are very slow, but he asks her to trust him. She tells him she trusts him but is afraid if something goes wrong. He promises her nothing will go wrong. She tells her so many bad things have happened already. Daniel broke her heart into pieces and that is why she hates him.

We switch to Daniel who is sitting at his desk and Eva walks in. He says this can’t be. She approaches him calling to him “My Love, I have missed you.” and starts kissing him. He tells her he missed her too. He tells her than that she betrayed him and robbed him. She starts more kissing and tells him she wants to marry him. Daniel is quite responsive to her kisses. She continues being quite seductive as she tells him she wants to live with him and also wants his money and she continues with the heavy kissing as she says she wants to be Leo’s lover and she wants to break Daniel’s heart so that he will never be able to be happy. She slowly backs him up against the desk as she continues kissing him.

then we see Daniel alone and bolt up right from his chair as he says to himself “I have to get her out of my head." Then he tells himself his future is Victoria as he repeats her name.

Daniel is leaving. I didn’t catch much of the conversation he had with his secretary. Except that there might be some production problems but Leo can take care of them. She wishes him luck with Laurita. He tells her that is why he is leaving early. He tells her he can’t think about any thing else but that right now. He is worried about how she will react when she finds out he is going back to Victoria. She gives him one last word of advice. She tells him to think really hard about what he is planning on doing. He assures her that he will think about it and leaves.

Ricardo has entered Adrian’s room. This scene broke my heart as Adrian is confessing to Ricardo that he is hiding his homework from his dad so he won’t get in trouble. (Where are Social services when you need them.)

Eva wants Julio to tell her how he got to her house. He tells her he hired a private service and has a driver waiting in the village for his call. Matilda asks if he is planning on returning tonight. He tells her yes and he hopes Eva will be coming with him. Matilda tells her to go with him. Eva is still hesitant and Matilda tells her she needs to confront this situation as she points to Julio and says “who better to do it with then him.” Julio looks at her and tells her she needs to make a decision now. That’s where we end.

I know this is long and it is late and I am not going to proof read it. I am just going to post it as is and add the pictures and go to bed. Feel free to point out any mistakes or just throw your shoes at it.

La Verdad Oculta #92: Moments of truth

Lucha and Asunción send to the doctor for agonized, treat-stuffed Chicles; while Zaida waits impatiently and fruitlessly at the ice cream parlor for his return with the letter. Across the way, Leonardo, David and Santiago stew over Adolfo's cool reaction; but Leonardo noted something worried in his demeanor.

He encourages them to keep the pressure on, and they will break Adolfo. Back at Juan José's, to avoid his wrath, Lucha feigns a friend got Chicles sick. But privately to Caramelo, Chicles has to admit it was Zaida, while convincing Caramelo to run and meet the woman, since he cannot. However, Caramelo's afraid to go.

Absent this solution, Chicles hides the letter in a narrow crack behind his dresser mirror. Later at Elsa's, Caramelo mystifies her with news a woman wanted to buy Chicles's letter for $1K pesos; but Caramelo can't divulge who, under pain of harm coming to Limón, as Caramelo swore in order to learn Chicles's secret.

Zaida visits Ulises at home; and while he makes tea, she returns Elsa's apartment key to the door rack. She then alarms trustworthy Ulises by handing him her safeguard letter to give to the police in case something happens to her, without elaboration for his own security.

Back at Elsa's, she gets busted trying to surreptitiously sneak an update on Juan José's romantic status, when Caramelo notes Elsa's long face at news he's doing fine in that department. Next morning at Mario's, David relieves Gabriela's frustration that Adolfo slipped their trap with news Leonardo thinks he has personal problems.

Up in Adolfo's condo, he's satisfied two genuine cuff link rings remain in the wall safe -- unbeknown to him that Yolanda switched in the fake to return Carlos a real one. At Juan José's, Chicles tries to fish the now-stuck letter from the mirror crack with a coat hanger, but fails.

Anxious Adolfo arrives outside Yolanda's hospital room and offers Carlos to even fly her to the U.S. if necessary, but Carlos doesn't think it will be. Carlos angers and worries Adolfo admitting he gave the trefoil ring to Leonardo as evidence in a murder; but Carlos ignores him.

Warm and loving Carlos assures troubled Yolanda they're going to put her right and that he doesn't want her ever harming herself again; that they're going to get her therapy for depression. And when he mentions Adolfo seems very concerned and caring, Yolanda weakly urges that Adolfo's not as bad as Carlos thinks.

In Michoacán at Jorge's store, he turns the tables on Dora scolding him for not taking advantage of time now to fulfill a dream of traveling with his granddaughters to theme parks in the U.S. And what is she doing? They two are not getting any younger, and yet she's hiding out and not spending her remaining days with David.

And in Mario's office, David phones Carlos to come meet him at home. Meanwhile, Zaida stakes out Juan José's house, waiting for Chicles, who brings her a bogus letter for her $1K pesos paid. She's furious to learn he lost the blackmail letter -- behind a mirror, he yells, as he escapes her clutches.

Chicles bursting through the front door, Juan José drags out of him he was meeting Zaida to give her a letter; but Juan José only connects Zaida to Garnica and proceeds to expound on the scum bag's whereabouts with Alejandra, who is still ticked off Juan José let Garnica play him for his millions.

Juan José excuses himself as wise in the ways of prison life, but not those of a millionaire; and Mauricio's involvement also assured him. Alejandra understands and sympathizes but insists now Juan José must spill everything to Leonardo; and he reluctantly agrees with a kiss and hug for her affection toward him.

Carlos arrives at Mario's and sincerely commiserates David's crippling accident, noting him in the wheel chair. David wastes no time explaining the origin and significance of Carlos's cuff link ring and Adolfo's guilt in Márta's murder and also Yolanda's in framing "Gabriela's father." Carlos is very upset, but David's convincing.

He continues explaining how Roberto stole back the cuff link and returned it to Adolfo; and as the only evidence, David astonishes Carlos asking him to retrieve it again for them. David mollifies Carlos and gives him pause, surmising Carlos is not like his father and should help make Adolfo pay for all the harm he's done to people.

Édgar phones Adolfo at home to report about the letter, and Adolfo charges him with retrieving it so he can see for himself what it says. At the AFI, Leonardo tells Ramón he doesn't think the two jewel heists are connected, but still wonders what happened to Susana and Garnica; he's thinking they might both be dead.

At Zaida's, Édgar chuckles at Zaida's obvious discomfiture at being played by a pint-sized con artist. More seriously he warns her in case the boy squeals about what she tried to do! Back at the AFI, when Juan José explains the blackmail caper, Leonardo's disgusted with his action-movie mind set.

He could have been killed or kidnapped! Having not yet learned his lesson, Juan José still demurs when asked how he met Garnica, earning Leonardo's penetrating scorn. Zaida visits Adolfo at the condo, explains the white-board fiasco, and Adolfo deduces that the letter the boy found was indeed written by a real witness.

Adolfo offers nervous Zaida to escape to the beach house to lie low. With Zaida noting his heightened anxiety, Adolfo soberly admits he's realizing how much he loves a certain woman, a woman with a very dark connection to him -- the lovely woman who's lying in a hospital bed right now after attempting to take her own life.

And at the hospital, Yolanda's nurse reports to Carlos they had to sedate her, due to panic attacks; despite that, she still seems to be having nightmares. The nurse hopes Carlos can calm her with kind and affectionate words; and as the nurse exits, he leans over to sooth Yolanda.

But instead she disconcerts him with her disturbed murmurs, and he can only anxiously make out some desperate hints of what's deviling her subconscious. What does she mean by "jewels" -- "shoes" -- "Santiago" -- "Márta" -- "Adolfo" -- for God's sake, what is she trying to tell him!

The nurse returns and pulls Carlos away, concerned he's only upsetting the patient more; but just as they're out of ear shot, Yolanda murmurs again. "Baby doll, Carlos -- Márta was your mother!"

Triunfo del Amor #18 1/26/11 A triumph of poorly timed displays of affection.

Bernarda and Victoria face off at last…dum, dum, dum! Each accuses the other of having ruined her life. It comes off like "You ruined my life!" "Nuh-uh, you ruined MY life!" "Well, you ruined my life FIRST, so there!" "Well, I only ruined your life because I knew you were gonna ruin mine!" Oh, yes, but it was all Victoria's fault for seducing JP and taking his virtue! You're a sinner! No, YOU'RE a sinner! Bernarda threatens violence, but Vic tells her to back the hell off. Bernarda brings up the lost child and Victoria says she's going to burn in hell for it. I bow to Daniela Romo's eyebrow arching skills.

Martincito is recovering well. He can go home tomorrow, and Padre JP promises he can run around with the other boys, but he's got to take it easy. The parish guys come in to visit and they bring him a "balón" (a fútbal). The doc and Padre JP talk about how the guys get along much better now than they used to. The guys all agree that they are Padre JP's children and he gets a little verklempt…wait, are Catholic priests allowed to get verklempt?

Bernarda and Victoria now threaten each other with telling the world about each other's past faults, real or imagined. Victoria was a priest-seducing slut. Bernarda was an overbearing mother. Bernarda wants Vic to leave JP alone because it wasn't his fault the kid got lost. Victoria physically throws Bernarda out of her office. She calls Luci and tells her to tell security to NEVER let that woman in the building again. That's the first intelligent thing she's said all day.

JuanJo comes to check up on Linda. She says she was so freaked out that she left her makeup case behind and now she doesn't know how she's going to work. Nathy thinks she should have given up the bracelet. Linda has enough presence of mind to say that she was upset that they wanted to take it. She's going to put it away so she doesn't get assaulted again. Maria D hates that on top of everything else, they've got to worry about being mugged by delinquents! JuanJo invites all the girls to dinner at his house and tells Linda she'll find out what the occasion is soon enough…wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Max drives Maria to work, stopping at a posted "Model Crossing" (if you've never seen one of these before, it's white print on a hot pink background, with stylized legs towering over tiny plastic cars…be careful, those girls are insured so, you break it, you bought it!). He waves at the herd of giraffes and Maria fusses about it. She asks a question even worse than "Does this make me look fat?"…"With all the beautiful women in Mexico, what are you doing with me?" Max says she's "different." Seriously, man, you're gonna have to do better than that! He likes her sweetness and her "mál caracter" (bad temper)…but seriously, there is no woman more important to him than Maria. That wins her over. He says he's so happy that he doesn't want to go to work. Maria says no way, "if your mom finds out I'll get in trouble!" Max says little by little, Maria will win his mother over. Smoochies. Smoooooooooooochies. And the jackass behind them starts honking.

Padre JP prays in his church. Victoria comes in and asks what he thinks he's doing sending his mother to come threaten her. Victoria fills him in on the meeting and he says he had nothing to do it. Vic says he has to take action, he can't just wait for God. He admits that he shares responsibility for what happened between them. She says all she wants is to find her daughter and he promises not to stop until they find her. Victoria wants him to put his mother on a leash. "If what she wants is to bring up the past, we've all got a lot to lose. Especially you." Padre JP is surprised to hear her say it. He watches her walk out of the church.

Maria and Max sneak into the building and try to lie to Pippin about showing up together. Pippin brings up Maria's beauty and Victoria's big plans for her. Pip starts to talk to Max about someone who's been calling, but Max says, "later." Pip walks off singing about "amore!" Maria teases Max about the mystery calls from Paris, but he brushes it off and convinces her to sneak off to his office with him. Bow, chicka, bow, bow!

Guillermo practices martial arts. He pins his opponent and probably feels like a badass, but he'll get his comeuppance in the end.

Max shows off his office and his amazing view. The view out his window, people, minds out of the gutter! Max wants some smoochies, but Maria is reluctant…for about half a second!

Osvaldo calls Victoria at work. She's irritated when she answers and he can hear it. She asks if she can call him back after she calms down. Ossie sits behind his desk and gets his mid-life crisis going again…"Nothing I do ever satisfies Victoria!" He'll be calling Linda before the end of the episode.

Linda is sitting at the table with JuanJo and Nathy, looking nervous. JJ says not to worry…after tonight her whole life will change. Nathy praises JJ's courage and asks him to demonstrate his mad fighting skillz. The phone rings and he answers it. Damn. Os works fast. He doesn't say who it is, so Linda grabs the phone and says it must be work. Nathy covers by saying people are so rude nowadays, not wanting to give their names over the phone. Shut up Nathy. Grow a spine and quit letting this tramp steal the man you love! Fight for your right to JJ! Os says he wanted to know how Linda is doing. She says she had kind of an accident…"Yes, sir, if you want me to come to the office, I can do that." Os figures out that she can't talk and asks if it has something to do with the guy who answered the phone. Meanwhile, JJ, very close to the receiver asks "Quien es, mi amor?" (Who is it, my love?) Busted!

Milagros gets Don Napo to help her down from the bus. She thanks him for coming out shopping with her. She's buying Linda's engagement ring. She doesn't want JJ to end up single. She needs him to get married and procreate. And speaking of getting married…Don Napo says he's too young. When he goes grey and hair grows out his ears, he'll get right on that marriage thing. Milagros figures he'll be calling her tomorrow…heh, heh.

Os tells Linda that he's been called to the Televisa studios, so he'll give her a call later and she can tell him what happened. Linda agrees and says she'll show up later, and thanks for his understanding.

Linda tells JJ she's got to go to an interview, but she lost her makeup kit. JJ says one they get married, she won't have to work anymore. "Yes, darling, but in the meantime, I need money…I can't live on air! But don't worry, the man who just called me offered me a job I'm very, very interested in." Linda catches Nathy's eye and realizes she's giving her chair just a little too much of a lap dance. JJ comes over to hug her. Probably attracted by the pheremones.

The Spanish director has summoned Ofelia and Guillermo to tell them something, but not before Osvaldo gets there. It's a surprise. Osvaldo comes in and asks what the director has to tell them.

Fabian shows up and can't get in because the door is locked. Max goes to unlock it and he and Maria pretend that Max was just giving her the tour. Is that what the kids are calling it these days? I'd like a tour. Oh, sorry. Didn't mean to say that out loud. Maria leaves to go, you know, do some actual work. Fabian calls Max "tonto" (stupid). What if Max's mom had come in? Max says he just can't help himself he wants to smooch on her every chance he gets! Fabian says he understands, the same thing happens with Max's sister, but he's not going around cornering her every chance he gets. Max tells Fabian his sister isn't into him. "Sorry. That was a stupid thing to say." Fabian says not to worry about it. They've got work to do and they're behind.

Fer's friend Gabi tells her that it's not the end of the world just because her parents want to get a divorce. Fer says her parents have never had problems, but now they're fighting and she feels like it's her fault. Gabi think it's more likely that Os is into another woman. Fer says there's no way! Her dad's a great guy. Gabi thinks Os just wanted a little something on the side, that's all. Fer forbids her from even joking about it or their friendship is over.

The big news is that Osvaldo is going to be in the miniseries. The director insisted until Osvaldo got a good character. Basically Guillermo and Osvaldo have switched places and Osvaldo is now playing the villain. Osvaldo actually thinks it's an even bigger role than Guillermo's, with all due respect. But what about the other telenovela that Osvaldo was going to do? The director got it delayed so that Os could be in the miniseries. Ofelia pretends to be pleased, but the wheels are turning.

Padre JP talks to his confessor. The confessor says he needs to get everyone to calm down. Tell the ladies to stop catfighting and just stay away from each other.

Maria comes to see Victoria in her office. Victoria says there are two big runway shows coming up. She needs to speed up Maria's training and do a makeover, asap. They need to find her colors, get her a better hairstyle, and so on. The only thing that won't change is the name, "Maria Desamparada" because it makes her unique. Maria hugs Victoria in thanks and says she really identifies with her since she found out that Victoria's origins are as humble as her own. Maria mentions that they both needed their mothers, but neither one had her mother. She hugs Victoria again and says she feels like they both feel the same pain. Maria starts to leave, but Victoria calls her back and calls her hija and hugs her.

Os calls Linda to find out what happened the other day. He invites her to dinner and BEGS (dumbass)…just as friends, though, and she'd better be clear on that. I see Os is feeling all studly again.

Pippin and Antonieta have dinner at the same restaurant where Osvaldo is having dinner with Linda. Os had mentioned it to Pip before and he decided to take Antonieta there. She sees Osvaldo walk in and suggests they invite him to their table, but Pip sees Linda and covers his face with a napkin.

Nathy tells Maria that Linda went out with Os. She's worried that Linda is now missing her own proposal. The doorbell rings and it's JuanJo, all dressed up.

Antonieta wonders who the hell that woman is. Linda hoovers his face. Antonieta wants to go right over and give him a piece of her mind. Pip wants to hide. Antonieta is furious, but he gets her to leave with him. Ofelia and Guillermo, hiding at a table behind a plant, also see the Linda and Os show, and they grin happily. So the moral of the story is, if you're a dumbass who's cheating on your wife, don't take your new arm candy, who has more cleavage than sense, to a restaurant that you've recommended to everyone you know. Or maybe, you could, I don't know…not cheat in the first place? Just a thought.

Antonieta is still yelling at Pip when they get out to the car and into traffic. She thinks it's obvious he's cheating, but Pip says it was an innocent kiss and all artists kiss each other like that. Antonieta is not buying that. Pip begs her not to say anything. She can't do it. Pip says the family's happiness depends on it and if he has to he'll take her to his studio and sew her lips shut. Antonieta says for the happiness of the family, she'll swear, but she's furious and she thinks Os deserves to be burned with green wood! Pip says life will take care of it…"le saldrá panza, se le caerá el pelo, le saldrá una verruga en la nariz, no te preocupes" (he'll get a belly, his hair will fall out, he'll grow a wart on his nose, don't worry). Antonieta can't see how he can be so calm when this is so serious. She says she doesn't know what she wants to do, but then she gets an idea. She asks Pip to drive her back to the office.

The girls are making excuses for Linda…traffic, full busses. Milagros says the food is going to be terrible if she keeps reheating it.

Linda and Os toast to Os' new role. She kisses him again and Os tells her that they'd agreed they were just friends. Linda calls it a friendly kiss. She's annoyed by the ringing of her phone and finally answers it, knowing it's her roommates. Maria tells her if she doesn't get there in 15 minutes, she'll tell Victoria everything.

Maria hangs up on her and tells everyone that Linda is on her way. Don Napo says he was nervous after the attempted mugging the other day. Milagros hadn't heard about it and asks what they were trying to steal. "Una pulsera, " replies Nathy (a bracelet), then amends it to "de fantasía" (costume jewelry or imitation). Milagros says these damn kids today! She goes to reheat dinner and Maria goes to help her.

Linda says one of her friends was just assaulted and they stole the bracelet Osvaldo gave her, that she lent her "friend." She has to go. She leaves, but then comes back to kiss him on the mouth one more time. Guillermo and Ofelia toast to their good luck.

Bernarda sleeps the sleep of the damned. Kudos to the lighting guys for the strange spotlight on the giant crucifix over her bed. She's awakened by the door to her bedroom opening and the Ghost of Victims Past visits. "I'm dead because you killed me! For your conscience, I'm still alive!" It's hard to understand what he's saying with the echoing, but basically he threatens her with how horrid it would be for JP to find out what she's done. He ends with "You don't deserve his prayers!" Bernarda wakes up, but keeps screaming "Go away! Leave me alone!" Tomasa hears the screams and comes to her door, but doesn't enter the room, just stands outside and crosses herself.

Guillermo and Ofelia go back to Guillermo's place to hatch plans. Guillermo says he'll use the knowledge at the right time. She advises him to do it discreetly so they don't suspect him. Guillermo says Osvaldo owes him. Especially with this latest--he's read the script and the villain's part is better than his. Marcia, Marcia, Marcia! Ofelia says Pedro's stupid. She's only with him because it's to her advantage, but she can't stand him. Guillermo takes away her drink and suggests they share from his glass. They get it on. She'd rather have him than Pedro?

Pip begs Antonieta by anything she holds dear not to do anything she'll regret later.

Oscar asks Victoria what's up. She says a lot, but it's private and she can't tell him. He offers to keep her company, at least, but Vic says she's not the best company right now. Oscar asks her to trust in him. "You're offering me help? Me? The woman of iron? The woman who has earned the reputation as being hard and not having feelings?" Oscar reminds her she's a woman, first of all, and even the strongest women have their weak moments. Victoria says she was young when she started out and she realized how difficult it was surviving in a man's world. "You guys don't like it when women are in charge. I bet you don't like it taking orders from me?" Oh, no, Oscar luuuuuuuuurves it when she orders him around. He says he admires and respects her.

Linda praises Milagros' cooking and says she's never had better. Milagros complains about having to reheat dinner so many times. Linda says it took her a 2-hour commute to meet her new boss and then she had to fill out a ton of paperwork, but at least she got hired. The other girls start to help clearing the table and Don Napo asks if it isn't time to serve dessert? He brings over the cake and then starts to pop the champagne while Linda chokes on her engagement ring. JJ asks her to marry him and she looks confused.

Vic says she met a lot of men, some of them wanted to use her, some of them wanted to beat her down, but one day she found Osvaldo and she finally found love with him. Oscar asks her to forgive him for saying it, but he envies Osvaldo's luck. Vic says she was having a moment there, talking about her feelings, but it's over. Oscar begs her to look at him and says she can trust him unconditionally. Victoria thanks him and hugs him. And Oscar can now die a happy man.

Osvaldo is in the building, looking for Victoria. He stops in the hallway to talk to Luci for a moment.

Victoria is still going on about how alone she can feel sometimes, crying and hugging Oscar. Osvaldo walks in and asks Oscar what he's doing holding his wife! Vic says she has nothing to explain. Osvaldo tells Oscar the only reason he's not going to tell him everything he thinks of him is because Vic is there, but if he sees anything like this again…. Antonieta comes in and says they don't have anything to explain and he has no right to ask for explanations, is that clear? Osvaldo and Antonieta face off while Vic looks confused.

Sweet William Levy in a kayak!

Tomorrow: Someone publishes a picture of Max and his alleged "fiancee" in the paper, and it's not Maria.

Llena de Amor #116 (Mex. 121) Wed 1/26/11 Love Is A Many Splintered Thing

Well, we start the evening with a replay of Ilitia moaning and saying yes, yes, yessssss.....don't stop, do it, do it..... while Emanuel is busy somewhere below her waist. A delicious imaginative moment to be sure. Actually he's just sucking critter venom out of her leg with a little comic salute to STuD. But thanks anyway. Darned funny.

Meanwhile, back at the hospital, that whack on the head has done good things for Vicky. She's in a coma (no talking, no bitching) and when she finally comes to she's making nice, murmuring to Emanuel that she loves him. He's still too thick to realize she's Marianela (will their kids be riding the little bus later in life?), but he's thinking. Slow, turgid brain cell activity but something's going on. Marianela even has an aha moment towards the end of the episode when Delicia convinces her that Emanuel did NOT know the chocolates were poisoned. It was all a Bernardo/Fedra plot. And best of all, Oliver and Gretel have resolved all their misunderstandings in the most delightful way possible, tucked up in bed and making Love not War. Adorable.
As were Axel and Delicia, planning to go to the ball (er, Charity Benefit) if they can ward off ugly stepsister Nereida and equally ugly stepmother Fedra. The only other hookup of note was Lorenzo and Mauricio. Lo has wangled his one percent of the booty up to fifty per cent and Mau has retaliated by convincing Lo to dress up as el Lirio de Plata for the Benefit Bash. This should be good. And by golly, ain't Love grand? Well, not to Bernardo, who's still chafing at Fedra's lack of interest in him. But he'll get revenge by one day killing Lorenzo for her. We'll certainly be cheering him on for that.

So much for the broad brush strokes of the developments. Details to follow. Netty is chattering away a mile a minute to bedridden Vicky even though Doris tells her folks in a coma can't hear. (Actually, as I understand it, they can.) But whatever. Netty keeps talking.

So does Axel. He's presented Delicia with a beautiful scripted invitation to the Charity Benefit made out especially to her. She's thrilled but intimidated by the notation "formal". Does she have to fill out forms like you do at the police station? He explains the clothing required and she worries that her "puras garras" (everyday tasteless duds) won't do at all. Alas, after he leaves, Nereida swoops in, snatches the invite away, tells Fedra about it and our witch rips it away and vows to throw it in the garbage. You're no Cenicienta (Cinderella) sneers Nereida and you're not going anywhere.

Next, Fedra gets a call from a gleeful Lorenzo, reporting that Vicky is on her way to the cemetery. Great news.

But not accurate news. Vicky is very much alive, though presently in the requisite telenovela coma, and the loved ones are in the lobby bickering about whose fault it is. Brandon accuses Emanuel of being to blame since he was out of town on his delayed honeymoon when he should have been overseeing the event preparations. Alibi? Ilitia steps up and announces that he never left her side the whole time. Sure, snaps Brandon, but he could have ordered the hit from a distance. Emiliano rumbles and dissents that it was just an accident. In a much higher pitch Netty announces that it was an assault! No doubt about it.

Let's leave this happy scene and go back to the mansion. Delicia is scurrying around Fedra's room trying to find the purloined invitation when she hears Bernardo and Fedra coming. Quick she scoots behind a curtain. My favorite scene coming up. Fedra imperiously pats her shoulders and lapdog Bernardo dutifully starts massaging.
Meanwhile they talk about Vicky's true identity and reminisce about their previous attempts to deep six Marianela with poisoned chocolates. By the time Emiliano telephones from the hospital, Bernardo is hammer-tonging Fedra's shoulders which makes her Qqqquuuueeeelllllassstimmmaa addddiiiiiioooooss sound hysterical. I love these little comic touches.

Back to the hospital. Emanuel is now hovering over Vicky.
In spite of the fact that she's suffered a concussion, he sees fit to slap her face and exhort her to "React. Breathe. React. Breathe." Please kids, don't try this at home. Anyway, she comes to briefly and murmurs Emanuel," Te amo, te amo mi amor." He's like duh whah? Well, what do you expect from someone who slaps a concussion victim?

Fedra, meanwhile, is struggling valiantly with vowels. She can't quite get out "beneficiencia" and she has all my sympathy. I have trouble with those long words too...but not in my native language, thank goodness. Bernardo finishes the word for her (as Delicia did earlier) and she fills him in on the latest outrage. Axel wants to invite Delicia to that bene...whatever!

And Emanuel's still struggling with reality. Oh my, she's saying things like Marianela said when we made love for the first time, he ponders. What could this mean? She must be delirious. Please, Vicky, get better so you can tell me why you're saying these things. Man, he's dumb! I mean, really...even Fedra has already figured out that Vicky and Marianela are one and the same, minus about 100 kilos. And she's had fewer clues by far than Eman. He's not going to be on a quiz show anytime soon, that's for sure.

Shall we switch to another dopey (albeit adorable) lover? Oh yes, Oliver and Gretel are making up for lost time.

Looks like they're about to start on Round Two or perhaps Round Three, Four or Five (they're young, after all) but Gretel thinks it would add a little spice if she put on the wig and mustache. And indeed it does.

Gladiola barges in with cleaning supplies, utters a righteous oath (Sovereign Immaculate Heart of Jesus!) and then scolds them about their behavior. And for heavens' sakes lock the door next time! Oliver wants to tell her the truth so she won't think he's gay. Gretel thinks that would be dangerous. It escalates into a deeper discussion downstairs when Gladiola, while trying to be tolerant, thinks the Comisario will be scandalized. Oliver is a good cop and doesn't want his career to go down the drain. So how about if he and Manolo make it a "formal arrangement" and Glad can be the "madrina" (attendant for the wedding). Impactada looks all around.

Delicia has escaped from behind the curtain and is now foraging in Nereida's room looking for the missing invitation. Instead she finds the DVD of Mauricio and Kristel working on their Kama Sutra skills. Nereida arrives. Delicia ducks in a closet. Nereida hides some more filched silverware under her mattress and dreams of the day when she'll have a little well-appointed bungalow of her own, no doubt.

More bickering in the hospital lobby. Fedra has now arrived which sets Netty off on a new rampage. Ilitia interrupts to ask where Emanuel is. Fedra is on the trail, finding him in Vicky's room about to kiss her and has a conniption fit. Why is he hovering over that "trepadora"?!!! (social climber and also a word used in every telenovela I've ever watched. Must be a lot of social climbing going on in Mexico these days). How could he possibly care about that wretched woman who is doing everything she can to harm their family and turn Emanuel against his very own mother!

SHE HAS A CONCUSSION. SHE NEEDS REST AND QUIET, yell Brandon and Netty, barging in the room. Oh my. More dubious bedside behavior.

Fedra and Emanuel take their quarrel out in the hallway where she berates him for seeming to be emotionally involved with that trepadora. And what about his marriage!? Thankfully, Lorenzo arrives at this moment and Eman hands his mother off to skanky father-in-law. She now berates Low for Marianela's survival but they both furtively agree they'll need to proceed to the next fatal step slowly, to avert suspicion. Guess Vicky has a few more days left to live.

Downstairs at the mansion, Benigno fills the General in on the accident, acting out the whole disaster just in case his head officer doesn't understand the words. Keep me informed, announces the old guy solemnly.

More chatter in the hospital. Honestly, staff would never allow all those folks around the bedside at once but let's not quibble. Delicia has arrived and is telling Doris and Netty that she's learned Fedra and Bernardo did all the poisoning. Emanuel had no idea he was giving Mari toxic treats. Why Emanuel wouldn't kill a mosquito, even if it bit him! Vicky conveniently comes to, wants to know how Delicia is so sure and looks wanly thoughtful at this new bit of info.

Now we're at Muñeca's house where Emiliano is cuddling a smiling, cheerful Christian (do they have this kid on quaaludes?) and rumbling his deep, toe-tickling laugh. However his news is serious. Vicky's health is fragile at the moment. But he's also worried about Muñeca's divorce plans. Is this really what she wants? Indeed it is. Aside from the kids out of wedlock and selling her shares out from under her, she's just sick and tired of Lorenzo and no longer wants him around. And isn't that how he's feeling about Fedra, hmmmm? Sure is. He's madly in love with Netty. Like he's never been in love before. (Rather ungallant, given as how he was once engaged to Muñeca. But whatever.) Axel arrives (Excuse me, the door was open) and Emiliano broaches the real reason for his visit. He wants to know if Axel can play at the Benefit Ball. Guitar strumming and singing ensue. Mercifully brief. In spite of the fact that the last chords were wrenchingly off-key, Muñeca beams, applauds his great talent and says Sure, bring it on. Axel wants to dedicate his special song to a special someone. Which Emiliano assumes is Manolo. More desperate sure-I'm-broad-minded-it's-fine from Muñeca. But Axel protests. Nooooo, my special someone is a beautiful, tender, fun-loving woman who has made me see life from a different perspective. She's my reason for living. But you won't find out who she is until the ball. Do I know her? rumbles Emiliano. Yes, you do. But it's a secret. Umhum.

His intended, Delicia, is now chatting with Vicky about the need to gather more info at the mansion and then for dessert, De suggests they view the video of Mau and Kristel cuchiplaneando. Evidently Kristel has inherited Fedra's flexibility because De is fascinated and Vicky repulsed by the athletic goings on. Vicky suggests they turn it off. So use your imagination folks. I'll have to assume there were no rose petals or candles.

Well, Mau is pretty flexible himself, allowing Lorenzo to negotiate up from one percent of the recent Lirio theft to fifty percent after Lo threatens to reveal the scam to Garduño. And he also wants 50 per cent of the takings at the Charity Ball. Fine, but only if Lorenzo plays the part of Lirio. Well, it just had to be after Lo does a credible imitation of Dandy's hapless attempt. Yes indeed, Lorenzo has the build, the height, the panache to carry this off. Oh yeah.

Well, now that Delicia and Vicky have stopped watching skanky videos (do the nurses never check on coma patients?) they work out that Vicky will lend her one of her snazzola gowns to wear and Doris will fix her up completely for the big night out. This we gotta see. Dee fills her in as well about the hurry up wedding plans and Vicky, looking playful, admits that she has a "broma pesada" (practical joke) planned for the boda. Ugh. Still a long way from redemption. That crack on the head hasn't straightened her out yet.

Interesting scene now. Low lighting. Shadowy figure. Bernardo. Looking presidential and menacing. Ruminating on how Lorenzo has stolen Fedra's attention and passion. Feelings Bernardo could never awaken in her. But one day she'll want Bernardo to do away with Lo. And he will. With Great Pleasure.

Emanuel's arrival disrupts this lovely pipe dream. He think Bernardo might have been behind the attempt on Vicky's life. Bernardo begs to differ. And even suggests that he can earn Emanuel's renewed trust by scoping out the real culprit. Furthermore, he gently nudges Emanuel's brain cells to consider the fact that Vicky is really Marianela minus some tonnage. After all, his informant at the airport tells him Marianela is in Mexico but there's never been a sign of Vicky de la Garza's arrival ever.

Impossible. NO PUEDE SER. Yes, with those fateful words, Emanuel confirms for us that he's just another pretty face. No interference from brain activity whatsoever. And there we end.
