Amor Bravío #39 (Uni 34) Fri 10/5/12 Seeing Is Believing: Aaron’s Grand Entrance Leaves Dionisio With An Egg Facial

Cap.  39

Lo Del Pasado:
Dionisio throws Alonso under the bus and worms his way into placing himself through the back door as ranch manager for La Malquerida, vis-à-vis Agustina who’s just declared him “the most upright and honest man” that she knows—and, Gussie having such a sterling track record with men, who better to judge a book by its cover?   With Dan’s direction, Viviana sets the rest of the MI IV plan or, Operation Shine the Light, into motion by inviting everybody at La Malquerida to a surprise dinner party that Rafael is organizing for Camila for his book that same evening.

Cam has run into Mariano at the bank in town and discussed her needing a new ranch-manager at the M.Q., and her being there to change the signatures for the banking so she can do the payroll for the ranch employees (I think); and he’s told her that he also is responsible for the running of his daddy’s ranch along with Pablo.  He has offered to help her run the ranch—as a freebie--since he’s got the experience that she doesn’t.

Lo Del Nuevo:
Cami says thanks, but that’s too much responsibility for Mariano when he’s already got enough on his plate running his own place.  She doesn’t want to abuse his friendship.  However, they agree that she’ll call for advice whenever something gets a bit complicated and she runs into a problem.  In the meantime he could help her look for somebody permanent.

Dio and Gussie, meanwhile, have agreed to come to the surprise party, though Dio’s attitude toward Vivi is somewhat distant if not outright frosty.  In walks Ximena, straw sticking out of her hair (telltale signs of her literal roll in the hay with the ol’ BIL, lusting Lonnie-Come-Lately).  Gussie introduces Meana to Vivi and Dio tells her about the surprise party that evening.

Natalia finds Daniel outside in the shaded parts of the hacienda entrance and gives him word from Amanda that she’s found Trench the Hench’s, aka Julián’s, passport.  It shows he’s been to Chile recently.  She wants him to have some copies she’s made since she’s got to put back the passport where she found it, adds Nat. Dan worries that her mother’s taking too many risks with this, but Nat says knowing her mother, she won’t stop till she’s gotten to the bottom of things.

Hench follows Rafa to Vivi’s place.  Dio rings him on his cell a couple minutes later with a change of plans for a meet at La Luna Restaurant in a little while with a new job for him with Isadora’s house.  Gussie comes in with the maid holding a tray of coffee cups and sweetly asks if he’d like sugar.  She gets her head bitten off for her troubles.   Dionisio barks that she ought to learn that he takes it black (the color of his heart—that tiny little stony thing in the center of his chest with muddy ice-water running through it).

Back at Vivi’s, Rafa gives his brother Aaron a chance to back out if he wants to.  Aaron says no way; Dan’s a good guy and has proven himself with Rafa as a solid friend in need.  Just like Vivi, says Rafa, and neither one deserves the stuff that they’re going through right now!  Aaron agrees and adds that Viv’s an amazingly strong female, that despite the fact that she seems to be falling apart right now, she’ll manage to successfully confront her ex-husband.  Rafa underscores that sentiment.   “—If she doesn’t, then I sure will!  I refuse to let anybody ever hurt her again!”  Aaron looks at his brother with a discerning smile.  “—You say that as if you’ve got a thing for her.”  Rafa denies it.  ‘—Don’t exaggerate things! Camila, Viviana and Daniel are just very good friends.” The only ones he truly has in this place, he adds.

Back at the M.Q., D’Andres approaches Cam with the keys to her car and, as he gives them over, their hands touch again.  Again it’s electric!  (The sparks were literally leaping and spitting off my screen!) He leaves and then Luzma starts to walk past.  Cami grabs her and asks for an explanation for the other day.  Whatever in the world made her change her mind?  Luz Maria tells Cami that her wedding and her love for Pablo are now simply in the past.   Cam says her 180° change in attitude doesn’t make any sense.  It just doesn’t gibe, but since Gussie needs to talk to Camila, Luzma makes her escape.   Cami yells after her that they're going to finish this conversation later.

Dio joins Gussie, who mentions she heard Cam went over to see him the other day.  Cam tells her Mama that he should have told her they cleared up their differences.  Dio takes the moment to explain that since then her mother mentioned the difficulty she’d had with Alonso, the two of them talked it over and from now on Cam has no worries: he’ll be her new ranch-manager!  Cam is the-hell-you-say-impactada.  (Thanks be to the telenovela gods for writing in ingenious friends and acquaintances, aka guardian angelitos, like Lic. Osvaldo Becerra!!)  Cami’s bull-sh!t radar goes up.

Across the way at Hacienda La Buenaventura, Mariano is  acting like a kid with high school crush over Cami.  He mentions to Yago that he ran into Camila Monterde at the bank today.  He does a little happy-dance and admits that he really, really, REALLY likes Camila a heck of a lot!  Each time they meet, he’s more convinced that there is not another woman like her!  Yago says he thought she was married.  Yeah, says Mariano, but not for long cuz she was there to change the signature on the checks and said she was in need of a new ranch manager, that her husband used be the one handling all that.  Yago tells him that if she is single, and he and she got together and joined their two ranches that would be tremendous!!  But, he should settle things with Ana first.  Mariano’s bouncybubble bursts.  “--Oh, yeah.  Ana.” (Makes me sort of wonder if this guy’s really fickle or what when it comes to females…  So much for his  true love lecture to Luzma.)

Back at La Malquerida Cami says politely, thanks but no thanks.  She’s already hired somebody.  Mama Metiche states unequivocally—at least in her pea-brain sized mind—that there is simply nobody more qualified to run the ranch but Dionisio; she must simply call the other person and retract the offer.  Cami, to her credit, stands her ground and respectfully says No Can Do.  Mama Metiche feels Cam, as a woman, could not possibly run such a big place on her own; and anyway, how can she be sure this person is any good?  Oh, he has plenty of experience, believe me, replies Cami.  “--It’s Mariano Alberrán from the neighboring ranch, who manages it for his father.”

Double-talking Dio starts backtracking now and then asks Cami if there are any hard feelings from the earlier misunderstanding.  Well, of course not, she says.  The fact of the matter is that as soon as things blew up with Alonso, her first thought was of Mariano since he’s been running things there and knows all about this sort of business; besides Dio’s background is in something else, isn’t it?  (Ding-ding-ding-ding-ding!!!  REEE-JECTED!!!!)  Dio’s nasty frown momentarily darkens his face.  He struggles to hide the agitation he feels at being crossed and shot down by anybody, especially a freakin’ female.  However, he successfully humbles himself in front of Cami and waits to fight another day and in another way.  Cam heads off to her office.

Gussie apologizes for her daughter’s refusal to accept him and says she had no idea she’d already found somebody else.   He says he’s just as sorry and forces back the gag reflex at her fish-lipped pucker when pecking her good-bye.

Cami enters her office, tells Nat to find a couple of things there for her, and immediately calls over to La Buenaventura.  Mariano answers.  Cam tells him she’s reconsidered and does want him to be the new ranch manager.  They agree to meet the next day before noon to go over the details of the job since they’d already agreed to meet about the Stockman’s Association tribute to her Tío.  Nat’s worried she no longer has a job, but Cami says now she’ll be Don Mariano’s secretary instead and sends her off to find the payroll [nómina] list so the ranch hands can get paid [rayar=to do payroll, to pay wages to].

Meanwhile, Alonso has paid a visit to his favorite shady sales rep to arrange for a bunch of backdated invoices [facturas] for a farm tractor and various and sundry other farm-related items.  Not-So-Slim-Shady says ok, but you’d better be good for the cash and not forget my cut of the take!

Back near the stables at the M.Q., Cami hands out the pay envelopes and has to tell the ranch hands that Alonso is no longer owner or boss of this ranch.  They’ll be dealing with her from now on.  D’Andres comes last.  She can’t hide a special smile for him.  On the other hand, Leoncio leers over, disgusted at the two of them, and slouches back to his lair.

Over at los Albarrán, Mariano is beside himself at his good luck.  He’s going to have a real chance now, he explains excitedly to Yago, at getting to know Camila and seeing if there’s a chance for a big-time romance with her.  In walks Pablo.  Yago says he and Pablo can take the opportunity to select the bulls for the review that will be on display.  Pablo says nothin’-doin’ cuz he’s never setting foot on that rancho again!  (A sigh goes up all over Viewerville for El Pobre de Pablito.)

D’Andres gets his pay envelope and once Nat’s gone, hands Cami a note from Vivi telling her to get dolled up for a night on the town.   He wonders if she’ll need him to drive.  Yes, she tells D’Andres, she’ll need him to drive her over since she doesn’t feel comfortable driving at night.  He starts in with the leading, romantic double-entendres, telling her he’s there for her day or night…..She pretends to ignore him.  He starts flirting and asks if she liked the rose he left her; she lies and says she threw it into the trash.  Knowing she’s lying, he pulls out another type of flower from under his jacket and shows this to her.  “—Okay then I’ll leave you a flower you do like, like this one.”  She pretends to be angry with him, but can’t really carry it off.  She walks away as he starts pulling at the petals, saying “she loves me, she loves me not.”  Cami turns around and smiles, then walks off before she forgets her place since he’s already forgotten his—not that either of them really cares.)

That night, D’Andres helps Cami out of the car.  Their hands are in another sensual clasp and each looks momentarily into the other’s eyes.  Dan drops his grasp and speaks a bit haltingly.  “—Pardon me…but with all due respect, you do…look very lovely tonight.”  She smiles wanly and turns on her heel, heads to the gate to ring the bell.  She takes a moment and looks beguilingly over at him.  He respectfully lowers his eyes and looks back at her through his half lowered lids.  Out comes Vivi and the hint of romance in the moment is shattered.  Cami offers D’Andres a wad of bills so he can eat at a nice restaurant somewhere.  (Tacky, awkward move, Cam.)  He says thanks, but it’s not necessary.  Ok.  They let him know they’ll be at a place near the town square [el zócalo].  Once they’re gone, he changes his charro tie and jacket for a hoodie, and now skulks through the shadowy streets.

Inside the party room at the restaurant, Mama Metiche introduces Meana to Rafa.  Just as they take their seats who should show up as uninvitees but Hisssadora and Komodo Dodo.  Gussie is somewhat perturbed, but Meana, from the looks of things, made sure those two got the word and made an entrance.  “—They said it was a surprise party for Camila, right?”  They certainly did, replies Meana with a not-so-innocent roll of the eye.  Rafa doesn’t flinch an inch.  He rolls to the side of these two steamrolling gate-crashers and remains the affable and unflappable host.  Loathsome Lon plops himself down with an obnoxious smirk into the chair next to his slutty SIL.  “--After all we are the husband and the mother-in-law.”   Gussie mentions their being there will probably make Cami uncomfortable.  Hisssadora offers to leave (counting on the fact that none there would be rude or bold enough to insist) but Rafa won’t hear of it and takes their drink orders.  A couple minutes later in walk Viv and Cam.  Cam looks around the table at all the seated guests and asks what’s up.  Viv just smiles sheepishly.

At the same time, Hench (sans the trench) short-circuits the electrical wiring in Isssadora’s living room and starts an electrical fire.

At the restaurant, Rafa explains this dinner is to thank her for her support during the writing of his book.  Gussie gushes about how nice it was that Vivi came by and invited ALL the guests to this lovely dinner party.  Hisssa fakes a toothy wide-mouth grin and says that yes, they all there love her and support her despite any past differences or misunderstandings they’ve had.  Cami nods yes I’m sure and makes a mental note to take a large grain of salt with every word uttered from dear MamaDora’s maw when swallowing the old broad’s brand o’ swill.  Rafa now suggests that everybody pose for a group picture that he could publish in his book.  Viv says she forgot her camera and needs to go to the car for it, but just then the waiter comes up and says they have included a photographer who could take a picture of the three of them.   Aaron casually enters the room, unnoticed, wearing a ball cap and wire-rims.

As the guests leave to go into the other room send for the photographer, Daniel sneaks in and spies on the group through a vented wall/pantry (?).  The others line up in front of that wall and just as the lady photographer snaps the camera Aaron sneaks in just behind them and full center so that his face will be included in the picture.

The group of guests breaks off and walks away.  Vivi mentions to Cami that no way did she invite Hisssadora or her spawn.    Doesn’t surprise Cam that the two of them crashed her party.  They take pictures of the three of them and while Rafa gets copies made, Cami pulls Viv to the side and thanks her for the nice gesture.  She also lets Viv know that she feels Viv’s pain over the loss of her child.    She can always count on Cami’s moral and emotional support.  They share a sisterly hug.   Viv then tells Cami that it makes her glad to know that Cami has discovered her cousin isn’t the brut he was initially believed to be.

Rafa enters the male lounge and checks in with Aaron.  He calls Dan on his cell to see if Hench is anywhere around.  Dan says for some odd reason the guy hasn’t shown up tonight.   He tells them he’ll head over to the B&B to see if he’s there with Amanda and Nat.  Aaron gets the all clear and tells them he can come out.

The group makes small talk about when Viv met Rafa--three months earlier when he needed a photographer for the book—and how she’d been living there about a year at the time, and then that Rafa met Camila through her.   The three of them are great friends and consider Cami a jewel, says Vivi, and she’s sure all the world will make tracks lovely Hacienda La Malquerida once the book’s published.   Meana brings up Dio as the place’s new ranch manager.   Hisssadora’s head comes up and her rattles start vibrating as Al asks what Ximeana means by Mama’s boyfriend becoming the new ranch manager?  Dio refuses to look Al in the eye.

Across town at Isssa’s place, Hench stays just long enough to admire his handiwork and make sure the blaze isn’t in danger of going out.  He texts Dio on his cell as he leaves.

At the restaurant, Al pulls a mini-hissy fit and complains about Dionisio’s high-handed and audacious attitude.  Dio explains that it was only an offer to assist now that he’s to be a part of the family.  Hisssa throws her napkin and says the two of them should have been advised and that they’re leaving.  As Mamadora and K-Dodo angrily push away from their chairs, Dio asks them to sit back down and let him finish.  His offer was refused because Cami had already hired somebody else.  K-Dodo turns around to Cam and spits out a “and whom might that be????”  Dio names Mariano Albarrán and Cami confirms it.  This is a hell of a pisser for said family of hisssers.  They are miffed over having been duly stiffed and their pride so suitably biffed.   They slither out of the restaurant in a hell of a huff and Katie bar the door!     Dio gets his text and excuses himself.

Dan shows up at the B&B and enters the kitchen meanwhile.  Amanda tells him Hench has been gone the whole day and nobody has any idea where to.  She hands him over the copies of the passport’s pages she made.  He notes that Hench entered and exited Chile a couple of days after he was notified of his new inheritance, which proves that he was in the country during the incident and attempt on his life which ended up killing Miriam.  One day later they received his supposed “death notice.”  Amanda and Nat tell him to keep that paperwork safe and to hand it over as proof when he goes to the police to make his complaint.  Nat also mentions that Alonso is caput as manager and that Cami is bringing in Mariano Albarrán for the job.  In the meantime, she adds, Cami got her to transfer all the files and official paperwork along with his computer into her office, so now he can use his computer skills to track down anything else that could be useful when making his case to the police.  Dan agrees and says there could be external communications and such to prove his innocence to the police.  “—Or to Camila.”

Dio races after Al and Isa.  Alonso immediately accuses Dio of double-dealing, swearing that he really wants Cam, the M.Q. and the whole nine yards, leaving him and Mamadora out of the game.  Dionisio loses it and essentially tells Al to stop thinking with his crotch and instead to use his brain.  The rancho is their priority.  They’re supposed to be on the same team here and he had to do something to keep Camila under control since they were going to be leaving the rancho.  Isssa swears she’d never leave that ranch and had other plans.   She and Dio agree at least that Alonso needed to stick around there at the ranch whatever way he could maneuver it in order to stay aware of Camila’s every move but that now it’s such a mess because he wouldn’t listen to her.   Isssa changes the subject then and asks Dio if he at least took care of what she asked him to.  Dio says of course he did and that Julian just called him to say her house is totally in flames at this point.    Dio warns El Loco de Lon that the peevish little scene he pulled in the restaurant didn’t help matters, either.  All three of their necks are on the line here and so he’d better walk on eggshells from now on or their efforts could be seriously impaired [perjudicar=handicapped, harmed, damaged].

Dan is in the shadows across the street and getting one hell of an earful with all the yelling and kvetching from this non-gleesome threesome.    He sighs and shakes his head in disgust.  “—So that’s why Julian never showed up tonight.”

Dio comes back into the room.  Ximeana fakes a headache and has Cami fetch ”her driver” to take her home.  The pictures are passed out.  Suddenly Cam is in shock.  She looks at the group photo and notes that her cousin, Daniel, is in the picture.  “—That’s impossible!  But he’s here!  Daniel is in the picture and he’s alive and here somewhere!”  They begin checking throughout the restaurant.

On the drive back to the M.Q., Ximeana starts flirting with D’Andres.  “—Wow, but you are handsome!  I’d imagine you to be anything but a chauffeur.”

Back at the restaurant, Dio demands to know from the head waiter where the man in the photo has gone.  Obviously the waiter draws a blank, and then mentions there was a young man with a ball cap and glasses seated at one of the tables, but he left a while ago.  Dio gets on his high-horse and turns to Rafa.   He accuses Rafa of being in the know and playing games with them about DDA, because after all he’s his friend!!  Rafa demands to know why he should know he’s a friend of DDA’s.  “—Errr….b-b-because Agustina told me, that’s how!”  Cara de that’s-news-to-me de Gussie.   Rafa tells Dio that he refuses to be talked to in that manner and  neither will he give him any explanation about DDA or anything else for that matter!   (100 Bonus points to Team Camila!  Great way to stand up to that braggadocious blowfish!)

Xi keeps fishing on the way home for details about D’Andres’s past.  “—Where you from?  You sure don’t sound like you’re from here!”  Dan deflects and asks how her “headache” is.  She pretends she’s still weak and has a pill but no water to take it with.  He hands her a bottle of water and she notices the birthmark on his wrist matches the one on her leg.  Ruh-Roh!!!  (Family tree branch alert!)  She asks if he’s the only one in his family to have one.   He answers that there were no siblings, only his mom and him and his father and mother are both dead now, so he wouldn’t know.  “—Well, I think it’s something pretty sexy.  Don’t you?”  Dan ignores the question.

At the restaurant again, Cami asks Dio to dial it down.  He tells her it’s just too much of a coincidence that DDA appears at the restaurant at a dinner Rafa arranged so that they can make fools of them all.  Vivi says, wait a doggone minute here!  I was the one who chose the restaurant.  Dio accuses her of being a friend of DDA’s also.  Rafa asks why he’s so interested in him anyway.  “--W-w-well I am looking out for Camila and her mother!”   Cami says thanks but no thanks to Dio.  (Viewerville says thanks and thanks again to the telenovela gods for that.)  Gussie has to admit that it really is strange way for the guy to act whether he’s as decent as Rafa says or a felon like the police say.  Look, says Cam, I’m the one who’s in charge here and I say now that we know he’s alive it simply remains for us to find him.  At least we know and it’s resolved.   She turns to Dio.  “--In the meantime, I’m asking you to please stay out of it.  [Mantenerse al margen=don’t get involved]   Don’t do anything without my knowledge.”

Rafa and Vivi smile at each other and share a knowing nod.   Success!

Refugio Para el Amor #128 Fri 10/5/12 The separation between the young TL and the young Jacinto's ... physical (forced by circumstances), yet not emotional/sentimental

Sorry recap for tonight is in progress... had to watch the Orioles game, been away from Balt for 6+ yrs (was there for the 96-97 seasons) but still a fan, still feel like i am there... so had to watch the wc game... btw Orioles won!
now on to watch the ep... will post quick recap in an hr, will extend more tomorrow.

ok here it is...
Refrito:

Rod and Janah with Pato at home tucking him in… Janah worried about Rod. He will come and go, go to OB with Gala… Janah says don’t wait for me to come visit in CAN. Not with such a MODEL SIL.  RE comes and asks Rod same questions… yada yada. RE wants them to come often. Rod says Gala might not feel like it. RE says HE is who she wants to see… Janah walks Rod out, still begging him same … keep in touch. Rod assures her you will count on me, even by social web network.  Janah asks if he will come for Luci’s baby birth. OF course it is my child. … don’t worry, I will be in touch.

At Het Het Luci and Vio are walking around with Ariche… and they have an unfortunate run-in … none other than Don Aq… (lol Ariche yells ‘Ay Chihuahua!!’)…
Lo Nuevo:
Luci gives limited responses to him, maybe talking to Don Aq is more expensive than sending a telegram… Vio says ‘Adios Papa!’ (of course in an angry tone) to Ariche’s astonishment…  Luci confirms Don Aq is Vio’s a’pa!... Ariche: Orale!!  Ariche asks Vio if she wants him to keep the secret. Vio tells him heck no! she wants him to tell everyone.

At TL manor, finally! Everyone leaves Pato alone to rest.
Lorenzo calls Janah at house and he has the misfortune to have RE answer the phone. Janah comes and RE gives her the phone. Janah has to be really rude with Lore since she has RE breathing fire on her face.  Janah has to hang up and gets creamed by RE and her lectures… those people are ignorant, ‘ladina’ (ordinary?)… RE assures Janah Lore doesn’t know her… Janah has to beg and beg RE not to do anything against Lore.
RE will trust Janah but beware if you let me down. ‘Good night my dear sweet child’
Lore is alone thinking about Janah’s response… ‘I got it, I am not good/big enough for you, don’t worry I won’t look for you again’.  Janah crying in her room alone whispering his name… (aaaahhhh teen love)

Rod in his car… fights with cell phone and his will to leave Luci alone… his heart wins… sends Luci a text that makes Luci uncomfortable ‘sorry if I broke my promise but I had to tell you that my heart and thoughts are always with you and with our child’. Luci cannot stop the tears… Vio is sad for Luci and Rod.  Luci says ‘he is leaving for CAN’… Vio responds ‘for your love there is no distance, your love is way above all the evil that separated you two’.

Shortened beginning credits…

RE on phone with Julie… they have to get together to plan their next move… Julie and Gala are on speaker phone so RE is being shot at by both witches…

Vicky at home, door knock. Don Geronimo wants to open door. It is Aldo. She does not want to open the door to Aldo. Dad does not want Aldo to knock all night long. Aldo comes in. small talk.
Don Gero leaves them alone. Vicky is really angry, Aldo keeps asking why she won’t give him the time of day… Vicky doesn’t want any more problems. Aldo insists. Don’t cut me out. (don’t worry Aldo, Max will cut your throat if you insist)… Seems Vicky does feel something for Aldo, she can’t say no, even if she pushes him out the door.

Vio tells Magda what happened and her shouting she is Aquiles’ daughter. Magda does not quite agree with that approach… Vio says why not? We could use the money. It is only fair to get something from him. Magda says he will never recognize her. Vio does not care. She believes Magda. She is sure Aquiles was the first guy in her life. Magda agrees. First and ONLY. (Magda is firm in that statement but does not look proud of it)..

Aquiles remembering the encounter… briefly questions the possibility but then changes his mind… keeps trying to tell himself she is NOT his child.
Magda tells Vio has always fended for herself, don’t need anything from Aquiles. Vio says have savings, does not want to work at an antro anymore and have been talking to Serena to do something together… Paz says she is confused, she thought Serena was a nurse. Vio says she needed a second job. Magda excited for them to do something else…  Luci wants to help. Just in time Paz gives her the money Namurachi brought for the work they already delivered. Luci says its lots of money. Gives the check back to Paz to get more materials and to start to help train the other ladies in town.

Procopio arrives running to Aquiles… Aquiles not looking forward to meet any ghost…

Rod arguing with Gala… again about the ‘criada esa’… Rod with same statement ‘we got married for the future of the child, not for love’… Gala invites him to meet with Julie and RE… Rod says can’t go.. besides, you three get along better without me. Leaves.
Gala happy he is not coming, they will decide the future of Luci and her ‘criadito’ (mini criado/a) jajaja.

Vio not sure when returning to the capital. Want to stay a few days more with mama. Vio is trying to get used to the quiet and inactivity of Het Het, was already used to the busy noisy city.   Luci brings up again that Rod is going to Canada. Vio reminds Luci that Doctor said Rod wants Gala’s baby to be born in Mex City… Gala is so anxious to have a boy… what better divine justice than for her to have a baby girl… for Gala having a girl would be a curse.  (I like Vio’s voice of conscience role… short and to the point… )

Procopio and Aquiles are sitting out on street (don’t know how Procopio got to convince Aquiles to play Ghostbusters for a night.. LOL) Procopio wants to take off back to Funeral home. Aquiles won’t let him leave. The one leaving is Aquiles. Baboso!!
Procopio is scared, begins hearing a ghost laughing… About to p in his p… looks around behind him… suddenly begins to jump scared… the ghost is suddenly unmasked by Aquiles… ‘TU???”

Luci says she wants her baby to look like Mushashon… Vio says ‘what about like you?’.. Luci can’t help but smile when she thinks of the baby..

In bed, Rod also thinking of the baby and wanting it to look like Luci…

Gala again with pains comes out to living room… this time she might not be faking it. Yeah this does not look like a scripted skid…. Never mind, when Rod is frenetically looking for Dr phone number, she turns around and smiles… so it is fake again…

RE and Max in their favorite argument set… the bedroom… Max says Rod wants to stay to live in CAN. RE says will sacrifice not seeing Rod as long as he won’t be near Luci. Let him make a family ‘como Dios Manda’ (as God wishes). …

Rod puts DR on phone with Gala.  Pains come and go… Rod nervously asks Dr if this is dangerous. Put hot compresses on her, and if she keeps feeling bad, call me again. Gala does not want to lose the baby.  He carries her to bed, she enjoys the ‘ride’.
He is so nervous he falls right in her trap to ‘stay with her again’.  Rod says in this condition I can’t take you to CAN. Gala says want to go with him anyway. Rod says if Dr does not authorize then she won’t go.  He leaves room… she smiles again…. (would someone please slap the heck out of Rod for falling on the same pothole three times??)

The ghost at Het Het turned out to be the ‘new’ Teofilo. Aquiles mad. Teo says it was not to scare you.  Did not mean harm. Wanted to scare Procopio so he would leave the Funeral Home job. Then Procopio would return with Aquiles. Aquiles jumps on the wagon. Go on scare Procopio… leaves after gets a final laugh at the plan…

Paz and Magda show Luci the stitch work they have done for baby sheets and blankets. Luci is moved. Vio says when you see the ‘moises’ (baby bassinet) you will love it…
Luci cares that everything they are giving the baby is from the heart… Paz says they will always be thankful to Estelita for watching over their children… Luci says what about asking Estelita to rent Lore and Fabian a place in her building. She wants them to have a place of their own.  Vio wants to go back to walk around town again. Lets all go.
Door knock. Paz thinks it is Ariche, but it is Namurachi again. She came to tell Luci that a hotel chain owner wants to hire Luci to make pots/ceramics to decorate his hotels overseas. They all get really excited. Also Luci is about to get recognized internationally for her talents.

At TL offices, they are all meeting. Rod is talking about a new company wanting to deal with them, a company interested in non-stop flights between the orient and mex. Max is not in agreement it is the right move. He puts Claudio on the spot again… but Claudio seems to support Rod. Seems when the company started, Claudio was interested in airline business. Max wants to take the credit for the success to date and engages in a table end to table end match… Pato and Oscar jump in and tries to calm the fires. Claudio encourages Rod and says the board will meet via video conf with you at CAN.

Gala and RE are meeting at backyard of RE manor. Gala tells RE about her new false alarm staging… RE says don’t overuse that. strategy, when it becomes real  Rod won’t pay attention (Peter and the wolf syndrome). Gala says once we are in CAN I won’t need to use it.  Julie asks when they will return. Gala says need to get to an agreement about the ‘escuincle ese de la domestica’. RE says don’t worry I will take care of keeping close to Luci. Julie says you better, don’t want to think what will happen if Luci has a baby boy.
Gala says then I will have a boy too. Julie says that won’t solve the issue, the first is Luci’s. RE announces the solution is to make Luci’s baby disappear. (ay noooooo!!! Quick!! Put a lo-jack chip on that baby!!) (Julie and Gala smile knowing they pulled the right strings to get RE to make the decision they wanted)

Luci, Vio, Magda, Paz and Ariche are walking around outdoors… Look at the sky!! Vio says life here is too calm and peaceful, I like more action… besides, when will I get married?...

Ariche asks Luci when the baby will be born.. six months.. Ariche thinks it is a long time.

Vio tells Magda she always knew she had to come back someday. Came to see everyone, especially Magda. Feel the need/duty to be near her… Magda says don’t come for duty, just cause you want to see me… always. Been busy with NFERNO and did not want to lose the job and did not want you to find out. Paz asks how did you end up there? Fate… and look where I came to meet up with my father…  (look who jumps to their faces again!! Aquiles in the flesh!! … Luci, Paz and Ariche make their quick exit. And again we have Magda an Vio arguing with him about Vio’s paternity. He won’t take the responsibility… leaves in a huff with his signature ‘ERRIA!!”  Vio says Magda gave her all she needed to live. Don’t need anything else (For crying out loud!... would you please make up your mind, girl??)

Rod comes to Claudio’s office… came to talk to him not as associate, but as father of your soon to be grandchild. He promised Luci he would not be stalking her, but he wants to know how she is doing and how the baby is doing. Can I be in contact with you for that? Of course, I would never block contact between my grandchild and his/her father. Rod is thankful. He wants to make sure his child will be well. Claudio assures him it will.

Pato in rehab therapy session. Pato is in a hurry to get his arms moving. In 6 mos Luci will have her baby and he wants to be first to hug/hold that baby.

At Estelita’s… they need paper. Ofelia runs out to get some. Serena offers her help at least until she and VIo find jobs. She needs another job, the hospital job is not enough.
Estelita insists she is better off staying away from NFERNO.

Ofelia runs into Lastra, who is playing a guy who hands out flyers… he tells her ‘there is a message here for you’. ‘Police is looking for me, have to leave the country. As soon as I can I will look for you. I love you. Lastra’.

At Het Het Luci and Paz are working on the pots. Luci wants to work through the night. Paz won’t let her. Luci tells Paz she has been thinking and she would rather come back to the capital sooner rather than wait 6 mos. She wants to work on the baby room in the apartment. Paz offers to come but Luci asks her to help get the pot work moving. Paz tearfully says she will  try to help. Luci tells Paz Rod is leaving for CAN, and he does not seem to be planning to come back anytime soon.

At CAN airport, Rod and Gala arrived. Rod tells Gala they will be here 5 months at least. Gala can’t wait to make an apt with a OB who will tell her right away that their baby is a boy. Rod assures her if it is a girl he will adore her. Gala says don’t worry, IT WILL BE A BOY. Rod rolls his eyes…

A day or two later, Gala is at a OB having an Ultrasound (not sure how long it has been, baby seems much bigger than 3 mos gestation). Very healthy. Gala insists in finding out if it is a boy. Rod only cares that it is healthy, baby and mother. Doctor announces /it is a GIRL!! ES UNA NINA!! UNA NINA!!’ … Gala can’t hide her disappointment/anger. Rod smiles..

Prev:
Gala claims victory… Luci tells someone the Mushashon Rod is the love of her life…
Monday: time passes (baby bumps are ripe!!) Apparently Luci is having a shower… Luci is holding hands with Pato… and Rod shows up. Vio invites him to come in…

El Mundo de Telemundo - Week of October 8 - Discuss among yourselves

Here you go! Another week with more great recaps and comments.

I doubt Miggy and FF will make it to Ushuaia. Here is a picture of the town in December, their spring.

Here is a picture of a place in Tierra del Fuego National Park...

where, for a modest fee, you can get you passport stamped with a "Fin de Mundo" stamp. This is where the Pan American Highway ends.

Weekend Discussion: Leitmotifs and Love Themes; Novela Music

Ever since ancient times music has been important in theatrical entertainment to set moods and describe and comment on action. Musicians were present in theatres during the time of Sophocles, the Caesars, and later Shakespeare. The composer Jean Baptitste Lully frequently collaborated with Molière during the time of Louis XIV. During the days of silent movies music was provided in theatres to accompany the action, either

by a full orchestra in New York or a pianist in Peoria. Special effects organs like “The Mighty Wurlitzer” were designed to also simulate other instruments and were installed in large movie theatres. Classical music that was in the public domain was often used and music cue sheets were provided to conductors, organists, and pianists. As films became more sophisticated they had scores uniquely composed for them and now we almost feel cheated when the odd film is released that has no music. It feels unfinished; artistically incomplete.

Amor Bravío #38 (Uni 33) Thu 10/4/12 Amor Incipiente

Rodolfo watches as Camila approaches the Snogmobile. Alonso is talking about being discreet and, unfortunately, Ximena notices Camila and warns Alonso. He gets out of the car and Ximena gets to overhear the ensuing argument. Camila thought she'd made it clear she wants Alonso gone. She wants him out of her life and off the ranch. Well, Alonso has no intention of budging.

Isadora points out Agustina's special post-nookie glow. Agustina will only say Dionisio's the "best" guy she's ever "had." Her first husband died, and her second husband was a cheater and a bad father. She denies having a relationship with Don Daniel, who was in love with Camila's cousin Daniel's mother. So she's a little distrustful of men. Agustina says it was easy for her to jump to conclusions earlier. Isadora brushes it off and tells Agustina to think of her as a sister. They get treated to Alonso and Camila making a scene. Camila insists that while Alonso won't account for the money he got from her, she has no reason to trust him. Even if he says he'll account for all of it, Camila still wants him fired. Alonso plays "poor me" for the benefit of his mother and mother-in-law.

Luzma laments the loss of Pablo. After what her uncle did to her, she has no doubt he'd make good on his promise to kill Pablo if she goes back to him.

Abismo de pasión #143 10/4/12: Hacienda “Arango” for sale. See details below.

I had to watch online tonight thanks to my new digital cable box and old Tivo not playing together nicely. I trust all you perceptive commenters will let me know if I’ve missed anything important.

Lo Refrito (i.e. lowlites from last night): Chente accepts Gabino’s mandate to “prove” he is a Mendoza by destroying Braulio. Yikes! Guadalupe threatens Carmina with jail. Carmina retorts by threatening Elisa, take that ex-padre! Elisa tells Gael that Paloma’s baby is his. There is a sick horse; any vets in the house?

Lo Nuevo:No puede ser!” says Gael to Elisa. Enrique said the kid is his. Enrique lied, she says, to protect Paloma. The usual conversation ensues and Elisa reveals that when Paloma was “sick” she actually tried to kill herself. “You have to take responsibility and marry Paloma. Forget me forever,” insists Elisa.

Ooh la la, Gabino and Carmina are in an embrace of the debauched. Carmina is pithed about Elisa playing the grand executive, and she simply can’t stomach boinking while ex-padre is still in town bothering her. How she hates her life! Little Gab, who is frisky tonight, tells Big Gab to tell Carmina that he’s her man now and 1) will make sure Elisa’s company is past history and 2)  will “take care of” Lupe if she will “take care of” him. Deal.

Por Ella Soy Eva #57 10/4/12: I've Got the Wedding Bell Blues (or Revenge is a Dish Best Served Cold)

I've seen on Facebook that the grand finale of Por Ella Soy Eva is this Sunday in Mexico.

Juan Carlos and Mimi are talking about Eva's visit with Eugenia and her accusations that Modesto has another woman and family.  Mimi suggests that Eva take Eugenia to see a doctor.  JC looks sad and Mimi moves in to hug and comfort him.

Silvia shows up with a packed bag at Helena's.  Thank God she's left Mad Dad.  Helena sends Lalo off to brush his teeth and he asks why she's always doing that.  She mugs at him and tells him it's because she doesn't want dragon mouth in her home.  Helena is expressing her joy at having Silvia with her and Lalo, that she's taken that first step, but Silvia is concerned that Bastardo has no one.  Viewerville rolls its collective eyes.

Marcela and Kevin are in the kitchen, and she's pushing milk on her kids as usual.  Marcela wants to know who it is that Kevin has a crush on, but he evades the question with talk about school.

Next morning, Renato brings Helena some plans for the second stage of the project.  He flatters her on how professional she is, and she eyes him cautiously (she's wondering how he gets his hair to do that stand-up thing).  Mimi is showing off her legs to Adriano under the pretext of wearing more appropriate boots.  He looks nervous and excuses himself saying that he wants to talk seriously with her later.  She gets excited at the prospect.  Rebeca kicks Speed Racer out of Helena's office to spy.  She finds something on Helena's desk with which to get that trepadora (climber); she calls the head engineer for the construction on Playa Majagua.  Rebeca then accosts Santiago in the hallway, pointing out that she wasn't invited to the wedding, not that she cares.  He tells her it's because of her friendship with Angelica.  She unnerves him by lamenting that Angelica has fallen into disgrace by working as a waitress on skates, and Santiago hurries off.  Rebeca smiles to herself that all men are brutos (brutes, blockheads).

Eva visits Eugenia and tricks her into going to a doctor.  Eugenia is upset- she doesn't like hospitals.  Eva pleads for her to do it for JC, but Eugenia replies that JC was never concerned with her health.  Eugenia greets the doctor by saying she has always relied upon the kindness of strangers, and the doctor builds rapport by acknowledging the Tennessee Williams quote.  Eva tells the doctor that Eugenia has "global transitory amnesia,"  a condition documented in the telenovela DSM IV as causing confusion between reality and fiction [apparently this is my problem also].  The doctor says Eugenia needs to have tests done again- it's been too long- but Eugenia refuses and Eva eventually relents.

Silvia calls Mad Dad to check on him.  He is his usual affable self: "How do you want me to be?  Crying because you left?"  Silvia says she's concerned about his health and Bastardo calls her an estorbo (bother, annoyance) and says she should return home because taking care of the house is the one thing she more or less knows how to do (I see he's decided to charm her into returning).  She looks hurt, and I soothe myself by picturing her stabbing him in the face with a fork.

Helena is telling Silvia she has all she's ever dreamed of.  Silvia says something about Lalo eventually growing up, finding his way in the world, and finding someone with whom to share his life and make a family.  Helena says not all people are born to live in pairs; look at me.  Silvia would have believed that of her had she not seen Helena with Juan Carlos.  Plutarco calls Helena to slither his way in a bit further.  Silvia notes how Helena smiles around Pluto and probes about Helena's feelings for him.  Helena again avows that although she feels admiration and affection for the Putz, she's made it very clear that it's about friendship.

JC is lamenting to Mimi, "All those years without worrying about the health of my mother.  What an idiot I was."  Mimi tells him there is always time to rectify that.  He holds out Eva's shoes to her and replies, "Look.  Here in the heels of Eva is my punishment.  I am finding out so many things about the people I love and I can't do anything to help them."  Mimi tells him he is helping them, in the disguise of Eva.

It's a nice day for a white wedding.  Santiago is pacing nervously outside the church while Fernando and Marcela try to soothe him.  Fernando blesses Santi in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.  Eva does that thing she always does- beckon someone to move in close for what they assume to be an intimate discussion, and then she roughhouses them.  Eva wants to know if Santi is sure of this, and Santi replies yes.  Eva give him a big hug.  Lucia shows up with Renato, and she repeats she just LOVES weddings.  Oh brother.  Paty bebe gets walked down the aisle by her father; she looks happy with just a hint of slyness to her expression.  The Evalettes are very excited.  Lucia is draped all over Renato who looks bored.  The priest reads the vows and Santiago accepts.  Paty asks him if he really loves her, and he says he never wanted anything as much as he wants to marry her.  With an evil glint she says, "I think that's perfect, because I don't want to marry you."  Everyone gasps.  Eva falls down- I think she has the vapors.

To everyone's horror, Paty gleefully tells Santiago that she promised herself she'd make him pay for leaving her at the altar months ago.  "Paty bebe, then you planned all this?" he asks.  "Claro," she tells him, "I want you to feel what I felt the day you walked out of the church and left me standing here in front of all these people.  You never loved me and now we're even because I don't love you."  Revenge converts a little right into a great wrong.

At the restaurant, Rebeca is rubbing it in Angelica's face that Santiago is now at church getting married.  Apparently she's not the nicest friend in the world.  Angelica is dismissing the whole thing, and then skates off to serve a customer and falls on top of him while Rebeca laughs.

Marcela tells Santiago that they are all family.  Eva tells Mimi that his friend needs him now as JC not as Eva, but Mimi tells him it will have to be Eva.  Lucia is over the top upset because she doesn't understand how a woman could turn down a chance to be married and have a family.  Lucia says it's all her fault for interrupting the first wedding (er, wasn't that Helena?).  Adriano gives Santi his ticket to Las Vegas because Santi needs it more than he does.  Santiago excuses himself because he needs to be alone and think.  Eva finds him at the altar and Santiago tells her that his head was full of plans of a life with Paty and now he doesn't know what to do.  Eva asks if he truly loves Paty and Santi stammers through an answer.  Eva slaps the table, yes or no?, and looks up to ask Jesus for forgiveness- it's just that insecure men irritate her.  Santi says he was in love with the idea of a life with Paty, and Eva says it's important to really love someone to marry them.  Santi remarks that's very similar to something his friend JC once said, and Eva notes, ay, that muchacho was very smart.  She tells him not to do anything foolish because people at the office know he's prone to that.

Mimi is putting the moves hot and heavy on Adriano- under the Christ statue.  He agrees to go out with her later.  At home Adriano looks sadly at a picture of Antonia and he remembers advice that both she and Eva had given him about being happy and finding true love, not just physical attraction.  Adriano is doing a lot of thinking.  Mimi has gone out to meet him and left her phone behind.  Adriano calls her and gets Eva instead, who he invites to meet him [I didn't understand the point to the whole phone switch thing].  Eva goes and assumes he wants information about her cousin.  She goes into a diatribe with Adriano about Mimi's virtues and Adriano interrupts her.  He takes her hand and says, "Leave your family aside for a moment.  I wanted to talk to you personally because I am in love with you."  Que, Que, What!?

Refugio Para el Amor #126 Wed 10/3/12 Baby Talk and The Devil’s in the Details

Ayer –
Conny arrives at Melissa’s apartment and is grateful to find a haven there
Boris arrives at the TL mansion to tell Roselena that he and Jana broke up—but doesn’t answer when she wants to know why.  (Boris said earlier or later that it was an old fashioned convention.  Sort of like breaking off an engagement used to be a big thing in the 19th C.)
Luci tells the two moms about seeing the apartment Claudio bought.  It’s big enough for everyone.  She wants them to come and help them paint the baby’s room.  This is a segue right into hoy.

Hoy –
The Extended-Stay Hotel
Luciana is still on the phone with the two moms.  They are all talking excitedly about what they are making in the way of a layette for the new baby.  Luci says the barrio folks are making her the bassinet she can keep right next to her bed.  Paz says this baby is coming with lots of love.  Luciana answers dreamily, it’s my reason for being, my reason for living.  (Come on, girl, there’s more to life than having a baby, but those first few months are the sweetest on earth.)

The Dim, Dark, Uber-Decorated Mausoleum (Thank you JudyB)
At the other extreme we have Gala informing Rod sarcastically when he gets home, thanks for getting here on time.  She’s pithed because he wasn’t home when the baby crib arrived, so they put it in the gym.  Why there, he wants to know.  Well, where else, in the hallway, in the living room?  Rod says the crib should go in our bedroom.  Our? bedroom?  Well, ok, *your* bedroom.  No way, no how, she laughs.  I’m not going to take care of a squalling infant while I’m trying to get my beauty sleep.  It’s either the gym or the studio.  Listen, Gala, a newborn shouldn’t be left in a room alone, it should be at your side so you can take care of it.  That’s from your granny’s days; no need to lose any sleep, though, I’m hiring a nanny and two nurses, one for daytime and one for nighttime.  (Hey, those are twelve hour shifts!  Where is OSHA?  Where is the American Nurses Association?…oh, right, forgot, they’re in Mexico where employees can be exploited.)  Rodrigo can’t believe what’s she's saying, for heaven’s sakes, Gala it’s *our* child, not the child of the nurses.  What’s the problem, Rod es Mio, while we enjoy ourselves, they take care of the baby.

Rodrigo goes in to take a look at the crib—it’s right in the middle of his gym.  Note all the blue and the mobile for a boy—a blue-edged umbrella with all kinds of hanging balls (wishful thinking woman; and some of those balls belong to your husband-in-name-only).  Isn’t it swell?  Your mother picked it out, Rodrigo.  It’s nice to see how enthusiastic you are.

Changing topics, Gala mentions what happened the night before and suggests he needs to ask her for an apology.  He does and he hopes that what she did is not repeated.  As far as he’s concerned, she won’t have any more provocations.  Let’s hope so, dude.  Gala reminds him she didn’t want to fight, but he laid down the rules and then abused them.  Also, that on her part, she did not fail to follow them.  Rod suggests, why don’t we add a new rule: ratchet down this mutual abuse and see if we can’t live peacefully.  In return, Gala asks, you respect this home and your wife.  I think so (me parece), he replies in a somewhat non-reassuring tone.  She adds that they should live as husband and wife with the intimacy as it ought to be between them.  He doesn’t answer and just walks away and she’s thinking to herself—Gottcha!

Por ella soy Eva #56 10/3/12: Eva- Having Her Say and Did Cachito Get Caught?

GI- Rebeca is at the computer and doesn’t understand what she is seeing on the scene. She hangs up with Angelica and calls Felix the Cat (the geek))- to come immediately and fix the computer.  Mimi and Eva are stressing over the loss of the cd.  Adriano enters- Eva Maria, Eva says jefe –cito.  He starts talking about the convention in Las Vegas and he would like to go with Eva.

Rebeca’s office – the geek came into to fix the “virus” on her computer.  He realizes what it is.  Where did you get this from he asks???  These are encrypted files from Santiago’s computer- the geek thought bubbles.

Adriano would like to invite Eva. Mimi is clarifying- just what is Adriano asking?  Inviting us to go with you or just inviting us?  Since Eva is shareholder she should think about going?  JC/Eva says I think that he wants to invite you.  Ah Mimi, thinks- the future Mrs. Adriano Reyes.

The geek wants to know where did she get this cd?  The cd has a virus, its risky.  He needs the cd and will install an antivirus.  She doesn’t give him the cd.

Helena is leaving Mousse Boy instructions about taking calls.  Rebeca bursts into Helena’s office, telling her that according to the geek, Helena gave her a cd with a virus.  Rebeca is fed up and she wants to make it clear that she is tired of Helena taking what is hers.  (News flash- Rebeca the only thing that belongs to you- is animal prints in all shades) Helena tells Rebeca if you are looking for a reason to fight –pleeaaase!! Go back to work!  Since Helena is not Rebeca’s boss, Helena reminds her that she is the link between the legal protocol agreements between the company and the Playa Mayagua Project-MEOW!  Rebeca flings the cd onto Helena’s desk.  (Helena is such a lady)
Oh no Helena- shreds the cd.

The geek goes to Pluto to let him know what is going on with Rebeca and the cd.  Pluto is very worried as to how Rebeca accessed the cd.  She must have taken it from his house.

Helena and a babysitter (Dona Lupe’s daughter) are helping Lalo with homework and Silvia calls.  They discuss the new babysitter and how everything is going to work out.  Helena is still worried about her mother living with Mad Dad.  You can’t be happy. Come live with us.  Mad Dad is a ghost without Lalo.  He’s depressed, sad; he’ll change (whatever!)
Silvia is sure that he is changing.  There is an open invitation for Silvia to live with Helena and Lalo! Silvia is thinking about it and smiling.

Eva visits Eugenia. Did your husband return for the anniversary. No, he is away on a business trip.  My husband is away, my son hasn’t returned, I don’t have company so I spend a lot of time alone.  Well, Eva has the afternoon free.  Eugenia wants to go to the theatre.  Eugenia hasn’t been offered any roles in awhile.  She really misses the theatre.  Oh boy!!

Mad Dad feels deaf with so much silence.  It’s amazing that something so little leaves such a large void.
At least Lalo had you as a father figure says Silvia, who meant it in the sweetest way possible and Mad Dad was offended. And once again insulted Silvia.  Uh oh, Silvia is headed to the closet!!!  (I can’t clap and type.)  No more!!!! (FINALLY!!)

Santiago and Patti Bebe are counting down the days before their wedding.  (I’m ready to fast forward, oops sorry, I’m recapping)  Patti wants to know how does he really feel about her?  (Oh come on- weren’t you at the restaurant listening to him telling Angelica that he loved Angelica and not you, Patti-I heard him!!)  You’ve never told me that you loved me, so I don’t know what to think. (Patti, let me sit you down- he hasn’t told you that he loves, he left you at the altar, he’s cheated on you, do you need any more signs?)  Santiago tells her that since he left her at the altar he realizes that he is in love with her- (eye rolling time) Oh no- evil background music! Patti has a “Glenn Close- Fatal Attraction” look.

Pluto calls Helena to check up on her.  He sees Rebeca in the garage and he starts on her about snooping around and trying to blackmail him in the defrauding matter with JC.  (Now Rebecca is no fool, she will put 2+2 together)

At the theater- Eva and Eugenia get their seats for the play- “The Two Faces of Money”- a classic that Eugenia is passionate about.  Eugenia feels a close proximity to the main character, whose husband is cheating on her and has another family.
Eva tries to clarify, another family but Eugenia sticks to her word.  Eugenia insists that the play is a reflection of her life.

Rebeca lets Pluto know that she is no fool and Pluto tells Rebeca that he won’t be blackmailed. She asks if he is going to kill her- hmmmmm! (One down and one to go)
Rebeca is not happy regarding the direction of their affair and feels like she is being treated like an old shoe.  Instead of enjoying life now that he is free all they do is argue.  They both have evil grimaces as they embrace.  (Did I mention “Fatal Attraction” already?)

Eva promises Eugenia that one-day her name will be on the marquee again.  Eugenia wants that but most of all she wants her to see her son.  (That was a tender moment between JC/Eva and Eugenia)

Helena and Lalo celebrate his homework completion and moving in with his mother by going to the park and getting ice cream.

Silvia is in the living room with her suitcase.  Mad Dad sees the suitcase and says we are too old for the theatrics.
Mad Dad tells her that she is acting like a child and he can say whatever he wants because it’s his house. And Silvia stands up to him.  She garbs his arm. He’s not going anywhere AND he IS going to listen to her. (I had to rewind this scene!!).  He told her to be quiet and go into the kitchen and make his dinner.  He grabs her and she tells him to get off of me.  I have many things to tell you, and she proceeds, breaking it down, one by one.  (I really can’t type now because I am standing up and cheering)  Don’t talk to me like that I’m not scared of you or your threats.  Oh, are you going to hit me, I lost a child because of your beatings, you can’t damage me more than you have done already. (Whoa Silvia- it’s about time!! – I can hear everyone cheering) I’ve been living in hell all of these years that I have been married to you. I married you because I was in love with you and I had the stupid idea that your personality would change. that you would change into the man that I had dreamed of, what a BIG mistake!!!! I thought that love would conquer all.  NOT!! With you nothing is worth it I’ve changed to an invisible woman, just here to cook and clean- (you go girl!!! ) I was never important to you!  You don’t even look into my eyes when we make love, you used me like a machine (Silvia-you are a better woman than I because the room couldn’t be dark enough for me with Mad Dad) I’m just your servant.  Well, no more!!!

We are at the theatre with Eva and who is mouthing the lines of the actress and she starts to dispute the choice of actress.  Eva apologizes to the audience.  The actress recognizes Eugenia.

Silvia-I’ll never make you love me, respect me, treat me like a wife, like the happy woman that I wanted to be, you’ve trampled on my self esteem, my security, for years I have felt so insignificant, so stupid.  Well Silvia if you weren’t happy and you stayed its your fault not mine.  Silvia agreed, she was treated like an animal, for more than 30 years, being humiliated, being quiet, waiting for a miracle that never came.  Our daughter said that I should leave you and I am going to leave you all by yourself!! (I ‘m still clapping)  He gets in his final insult- leave, I don’t need you, there is nothing that you can do for me, leave. She picked up her suitcase and left. (Silvia se fue!!!)YIPPEEE!
Talk about an empty house. (Was that a tear or perspiration?)

At the playground- Lalito and Helena are eating icees and Helena is thinking about the good times that she spent with JC and Lalito.  Helena is happy to be with her son.  Ugh- Lalito (not a good judge of character) suggests that she invite Pluto.  He likes him.  (Children usually see through the foolishness)
Uh oh, Eugenia starts saying the lines again.  Eva apologizes to everyone.  The actress asks everyone to give Eugenia applause.

Pluto is packing; he is going to stay at a luxury hotel during the renovation.
Helena calls Pluto, to invite him to the park for an ice cream.  I’ll be right there.  Oneismo notices Pluto’s stupid grin.  Ahh, Helena will be mine.

Eugenia believes that her husband has a lover another family. Modesto comes in and is very upset that Eugenia went to the theatre.  Eva took the blame.

Back at the playground, Pluto is still in his shiny brown suit is playing soccer with Lalo (he knew that he was going to the park, he didn’t have a pair of shiny jeans?)  Helena thinks of JC playing soccer with Lalo.  Uh, Pluto is just so thrilled to have received her phone call.  She just wants to thank him for everything that he has done for them. Pluto feels a connection, blah, blah, blah; we have both lost someone that we loved (I need a shovel for all the crap that he is spewing).  Life is giving us a second opportunity.

Modesto initially is not denying having another family, so Eva asks (seriously, neither mom nor dad recognize their son?) No, I don’t have another family.  I was working; my wife confuses reality with her imagination.  You took her to the theatre and now she is going to read gossip magazines and become even more delusional.

Fernando and the family are happily having dinner.  Fernando asks about the harp classes?  Kevin is blushing, he is in love?  The family is teasing him.  (It won’t be so funny to them when they find out who it is)

JC has never seen his mother this ill.  My mother is inventing another family for my father.  Mimi suggests that she see a doctor.

Silvia is waiting in the hallway with her suitcase.  She asks Helena if she can stay there?  Helena is impactada.

Coming attractions:  Santiago marries Patti Bebe (let me get my eyes ready for some serious rolling- oh wait a minute- Patti doesn’t say I do- oh, let me sit up straight because I may fall on the floor laughing)

Yago and Bratgirl are in town.  Yago has received a call from Mariano saying they haven’t found Luzma but they did encounter Tolontino.  Yago assumes her plan was for Tolontino to intervene at the wedding.  BratGirl agrees, a little too quickly, that this indeed was her plan – to provoke Tolontino into stopping the wedding.  Yago sees that her “plan” failed and wonders why Luzma didn’t arrive if she wasn’t stopped by Tolontino.  Ileana admits her plan failed but doesn’t care so long as that wedding didn’t fail.  The next part of her plan must now be put into play – to seduce Pablo and get him to forget about that “naca” (ugh, I hate that word).  She asks Yago for his help in convincing Pablo she’s the better choice for him.

Abismo de pasión #142 10/2/12: An Aging Sexpot Becomes Important To the 'Plot' and Gael Finds That He Is Going to be a Daddy

Introduction

Seven monkeys are in a nice office at Televisa HQ, with seven aged desktop computers. (Ed. We do not need more monkeys that seven to demonstrate 'Infinite Monkey Theorem for Abismo—seven will do.)  After a moment of observing them, It is clear that these fine simians are the writers for Abismo De Pasion. This is the dialogue that followed, as I was able to understand it. Monkeys speak fast and heavily accented Spanish...

"Let's add another meaningless character to the story of Abismo de Pasion. Why don't we do it now (instant gratification) while we are already in Ultimas Semanas? Oh, YES! The delighted monkeys clap their hands in glee. I know, says the alpha male, a huge brute named Fluffy. I learned a new concept in Behavioral Science today—'Aging Sexpot'.
'Aging sexpot?' cry the other monkeys, as they try the phrase on for size. "Aging sexpot? I like it", says the sycophant monkey standing behind Fluffy. "I really like it. This could be worked in with the other random elements we have strung together in place of a plot."

"Don't think of this show as having a PLOT!" shrieks the Alfa Fluffy as he capers around the room, taking control of the group firmly. "Think of this as... as...a soup, stone soup in which we can throw in any ingredient, bring it to a boil and then watch as it evaporates away, meaningless." In the sudden shift of mood that characterizes monkeys and is best exemplified by Gael in 'Abismo', the writing, typing, and story-running monkeys screech, scream and insult one another, pelting one another with the rotten fruit that covers the floor of their large office. "You people are losing your meta-physical edge," Fluffy snarls. "Think Sopa de Albondigas and start typing. The first one done gets a rotten banana!

And, with this fine incentive, our writers type madly away on their ancient word processors.

Thus, our episode—Abismo de Pasion 132, Ultimas Semanas

Refrito

Aging Sexpot Carito starts out the episode by promising to help Elisa with her 'plot' to buy la quinta from Carmina.
Paloma says goodbye to Doc Tovar and tells him he has been like a father to her. She also finds out that her mother, Remedios, sacrificed her life for Paloma when she was born. How sad.

Everybody Is At Elisa's Procesadora Today
Outside the new and prosperous procesadora Yucateca Begonia begins insulting Paloma to her son Enrique. "That girl is a low-down, base born tramp. She could be pregnant by anybody..."( a loose translation, I'll admit, but it captures the idea). Begoña sure knows how to endear herself to her children. Right then, Elisa walks by and overhears the conversation. "Is Paloma pregnant?", she asks. QuiQue tries to equivocate but Elisa asks, "Is she pregnant of not?" Enrique now throws his Mom under the bus, this is just another case of her gossip and lies, but Elisa isn't buying it. Enrique suggests that it would be better for Elisa to speak about this directly with Paloma. When Begoña insults Paloma again, comparing her to 'sluts' like Elisa and Carmina, Elisa takes the luscious, ripe habanero out of her hand, shoves it in Begone's face and rubs it all over her mouth. That will give Begoña a taste of her own medicine! Begone grabs her burning face as Elisa walks away. Go Spunky Elisa! Enrique shakes his head at his mom and walks back into work.

Por ella soy Eva #55 10/2/12: In which Pluto is compared to Bambi.

  • Eva, horrified that Helena's on the other side of the door, throws his/her voice deeply and invents a mysterious male visitor, desperately stalling. Helena, who's come to apologize, is amused and curious when a bit later Eva comes out holding her robe tightly closed around her neck and clutching a pair of men's pants

"You never tell me about YOUR life, Eva." "I'm timid about these things." "Is that guy your boyfriend?" "Of course not! I'm still in morning." Eva admits to being a meddler. Helena: "But you're a great person! Still - don't meddle." Helena smiles hugely.

  • At a nice restaurant, Mimi and Adri talk about Eva, Mimi can't seem to get Adri to concentrate on her fine assets although he does say: "I like you, you have a good sense of humor." She tells him she inherited the pension she manages.

Adri: "I always thought women should be in the house or in the bed, they shouldn't have power. They were born to embellish and we men were born to govern." "You think like somebody from the 14th century."

JC later explains to Mimi: Adri sees women as objects because he's neer been in love. "You and he are water and oil, find somebody else."

  • Marcela and Fer have clearly had good sex and are very happy. They tell each other they've never been unfaithful. All is cozy until Fer lets slip that "Candy Suite" was indeed a prostitute but not for him - for their son Kevin! Marcela is furious. Marcela: "It's normal he's not interested in girls right now, leave him alone. Respect his sentiments."

Meanwhile Kevin has slicked back his hair, bought flowers, and gone to visit - is it that very prostitute? She thinks he's adorable. He's in lurve.

  • JC/Eva was invited to his mom's house for the night: it's her wedding anniversary but her husband (JC's dad) is on a trip. Eva arrives with flowers and treats. "How did you know my favorites?!" Eugenia says it's not the first time she spent her anniversary alone. "Your husband, pardon me, he's a cro-magnon." "It's ok. But that's why I invited you!"

Eugenia tells Eva she loved being in telenovelas and films. Eva showers her with compliments. Eugenia says of her son: "He inherited my talent (and my histrionic nature) but his dad feared he would become soft and feminine. He educated Juan Carlos to be a "man" ---" It's sad. Eva says, "Let's have a great friendship."

  • Finally Lalo is packed. Silvia tells him, "Leave some games for when you come to see us." Dad glowers. Plutarco shows up to drive. Helena is not so happy her dad called Pluto and she'd rather have taken a taxi. She feels in debt again. (Later Eduardo sulks in the quiet house. Silvia says: "Children are lent to us. We had eight years with him." Later still she warns him: "You're working too much, you need to rest more. He tells her to go away.)

At the new place we see that Pluto has brought Lalo a satin soccer ball. He simpers to Helena, "Your happiness is enough for me!"

Pluto's phone rings, he pretends it's Adriano but it's really Rebecca, she wants a corporate meeting in the jacuzzi. "You're starting to remind me of the whale," he snarls. She wants an expensive engagement ring and tells the air: "I have only put up with you for what you could give me." He tells the air: "You'll have to wait, Rebeca, because I only want to marry Helena."

Undeterred, Rebeca barges in to his house unannounced saying "Mohammed has come to the mountain." She attacks him. She wants to remodel the house and she wants sex. He says he's tired. She wants to awaken his beast. He yields but evidently does not do his best work. "You were like Bambi, not a beast. I wanted something more savage." They fight.

  • Eva brings the cd with data she swiped from Pluto to work. It's encrypted and JC is no computer whiz. Felix (who I believe is the one who did the dirty work for Pluto and probably encrypted the cd) comes in, smitten with Eva and ready to do her bidding, but she smacks him and sends him away.

  • Mousse boy sorts notebooks for the meeting, Lucia comes in to flirt, he ignores her until she tempts him thus: "I have lunch with Helena and other important people from the company." That interests him. In the bathroom he heard men gossiping about Juan Carlos, the money fraud and the stolen project.

  • There is a tiresome board meeting during which the men get lectured for interrupting and talking over the women. Also Helena says the PR department (Rebeca) screwed up badly by not inviting Playa Majagua locals to some social event they had. And then the meeting's over and, of course, Eva's precious espionage cd gets mixed in with Playa Majagua cds and Rebeca ends up with it. Smarter than Eva, she calls Felix to tell him to come help her with it.

  • There's going to be a convention in Los Vegas. (Thanks for the typo correction Madelaine.) In the past Juan Carlos with his stooges represented Grupo Imperio there. Marcela would like to go. But Adriano says he's going this year, and he invites Eva to go with him: "I don't want to go alone."

Refugio Para el Amor #125 Tue 10/2/12 The Only People Who Like Change Are Wet Babies (author unknown)

Tonight's episode was all about change. Connie is leaving her sister's home. Rod and Gala will soon be heading for Canada. Luciana is moving into a big (grandota) apartment in Mexico City. Jana has ended her relationship with Boris and Vicky is trying to do the same with Max.

For some, changes didn't come easily. And a few stayed rigidly stuck in their delusions (think Roselena). And all of our characters are struggling with decisions. In some cases, they're forging ahead-- leaving behind the past (sometimes with regret) but holding fragile hope for the future.

Here is how things developed tonight for our characters.

There's only one corner of the Universe you can be certain of improving, and that's your own self. (Aldous Huxley)

LORENZO – He's determined to expand his taquero business, not by being nailed down to one location as Aldo suggested; but rather increasing the number of bicycles and locales to 5. As he explained “It's better to seek out customers instead of them having to come to us.” He may not have finished prepa but he seems to have good business instincts. As for his infatuation with Jana, that hasn't changed at all. He's still ga-ga about her, in spite of Paz and Fabio's warnings the dangers of the Torreslandas and not aiming too high.

Abismo de pasión #141 10/1/12:The Truth- It Will Be Told

RECAP BY CATHYX

Hospital: Gab and Dan are still fighting about who cares.

Procesadora: Elisa decides she should finally go into work and act like an owner of the business. Carito greets her and tells Elisa that she heard about what happened and was worried about her and is glad that she finally came back to work. Elisa is mad that no one in La Ermita has anything better than to talk about what has happened to her. Surely she canʼt be the only girl in La Ermita to have been kidnapped by a man whose mother despises her and tricked her son into marrying a woman who pretended to be pregnant and plotted to kidnap the townʼs doctorʼs daughterʼs baby whose father was a statutory rapist from Italy, and that Elisa was going to marry a man who just found out was her kidnapperʼs brother and would have killed said kidnapper if it werenʼt for the fact that the padre broke a confessional secret to reveal it in order to save that kidnapperʼs life. Or that her fiance had finally confessed that he slept with her best friend while he was promised to her, even though she stole her fiance from that best friend and even though she was feeling guilty for having hot beach sex with her kidnapper. I mean really, is everyone in this town so bored with their own lives to have nothing better to talk about?

Por ella soy Eva #54 10/1/12: Mario's Jeans Have an Issue

Before we get started, let me just mention that the tan leather patches on Mario's Jeans look like windows to a naked butt. Rather distracting, wouldn't you say?

Speak of the devil - Pluto brings a gang of iffy-looking armed goon guys to threaten the poor pants-challenged gentleman. Pluti's plot has gone awry with the discovery that Mario actually likes Lalo. Pluto, in his best hoarse and menacing whisper, puts a gun to Mario's head and lets him know that NO one will stop him from marrying Helena.

Santi catches Fernando on a dating site or something, trying to find proof of his wife's infidelity. I don't even have it in me to a venture a guess as to how he thought that was going to get him anywhere. Santi snorts. He wants no part of these "bobadas."

Mario gives in and makes an appearance at  Lalo's school to tell the boy he's going back to the States. The director of the school sees him there and calls Helena, but rather than approach the strange man chatting with a young student, the director stands behind Lalo, clucking and frowning. Poor kid, he's not taking this so well. Mario's jeans pockets still look like butt windows as he walks away. Before he leaves, he gives Lalo a fat envelope stuffed with cash (presumably the bribe he got for showing up in the first place - how sweet). Helena and her parents arrive to find the man has already left, moments too late for a  huge melodramatic confrontation. Lalo tearfully hugs his mom while Angry Bad Dad gives his best scowl.

Fernie has gone 100% lunatic, creepily staring at his wife, "observing," shining a flashlight in her eyes, and generally talking like, well, a lunatic. What a baby!

Pluto, his thugs, and mario, are all wedged onto some uncomfortable-looking bench somewhere (the airport? airports don't have public outdoor benches). Pluto dials up Helena and thrusts the phone at Mario, feeding him lines while the menacing goons menace and goon. He makes Mario say he's leaving forever, basically, and then grabs the phone back immediately to mug and gloat to Helena.

Geez, what does Mimi want from Adriano? She leans her preposterous bosom over his desk, squishes it around, and generally makes a show-stopping spectacle of herself for his benefit. At first he looks a little overwhelmed in such a hilariously pathetic way that I can't help but laugh!

Pluto bumps into Eva in the hall and tries to chew her out for a buffoon, but she gives him a solid knee in the groin and proceeds to lecture him on manners (forget stones and glass houses, she's mounted a trebuchet in her glass castle). He hits the deck, gasping and moaning for the benefit of all and sundry. He is muy impactada. Unfortunately, Helena is sympathetic to him and takes him into her office. Grrr, now he has a chance to play forgiving and gracious. But Eva marches in and pretends to apologize while continuing to menacingly knee the air and frighten a cringing Pluti. Helena really whips out the riot act on Eva. How can a woman of your age act this way? You almost hit Mario! I'm sick of you tampering with my life! Forget that you were ever my friend! Ouch!

Eva makes it to the hall before crying, and she meets up with Marcela who is similarly tearful after Fernie's latest interrogation.

For his part, Fernie has never been pictured doing an ounce of work! But now he has a reason - he's presently useless because he's a TOTAL WRECK, sobbing and moaning and such!

Eva comes over for dinner, and Fernie explodes when he gets home, revealing everything about the lengerie and accusing her of the very worst. Eva comes in for the defense, calling him all kinds of names like bestia belcibu (beelzebub, I'm not clear on the spelling). The "caveman" orders her out of the house, and she grudgingly backs out, giving him scary eyes.

Holy crap Mimi is actually pursuing Adriano. He peeps into her office, claiming he was looking for Eva, . She says "my cousin has certain compromises, don't bother with her, but I have nothing of the sort!" He whips out a rose (Adriano does magic!) and we see some more bosom.

Marcela speaks very candidly and honestly to her husband about how bad their relationship is (we never talk, we never live harmoniously together, and we never do anything romantic), but all Fernie can think about is the sex. She explains why she bought the lingerie, very candidly and sadly, and the jerk bolts out the door.

But good news, he returns with flowers and an almost apology ("I know that I was half a brute"). Seriously bro, you were all brute and then some. Nonetheless, apology accepted (by her, anyway, if not by me). "Hazme tuyo, flaca." And she does.

Meanwhile, Helena is hunting for Eva. Wu-oh! She finds a weak link in Mimi's vapid receptionist, who tells him that Eva lives there, and in fact leads her to the spot. Right behind the door that Eva is knocking on, Juan, in full two-face mode (halfway into his lady-stuff), prepares to open the door but has an inkling and looks through the peephole to make sure it's Mimi. Recording the show and re-watching it would be worthwhile if only to see the hilarious half-made-up gaping-jawed expression on Juan's face when he sees Helena!

Refugio Para el Amor #124 Mon 10/1/12 A Near Miss; A Judas Kiss; and a Sacred Promise

Tonight’s episode mainly consisted of a few cat and mouse games and lots of important conversations, which I have detailed. Max is a vicious alley cat who fights dirty, but mighty mouse Aldo lives to fight another day. Julie is more of a lazy, pampered house cat, who thinks she’ll catch clever mouse Claudio with little effort, but Claudio is smarter and more agile than she. And city cat Rosa thinks she can easily outwit and trap country mouse Luci, not realizing that she’s facing a mountain lioness. Let the games begin!

When we return to our story, Pato is handing Rod a big fat reality check. Doesn’t he know Luci at all? Of course she won’t rush to his open, manly, muscular arms as soon as he divorces the harpy he’s currently married to. Not only that, but Pato wouldn’t be surprised if one day soon Luci has her daddy Claudio move their offices elsewhere. Why doesn’t he talk to Gala about enacting a truce (dejar la fiesta en paz), and think about giving Gala her rightful place/respect as his wife?  At the end of the day, she IS Mrs. Torreslanda. (You know Rod, because of that stupid decision to marry her that you made against Pato’s and Viewerville’s advice, after that stupid decision you made to sleep with her.) Rod clutches his ball (not THOSE ones—they shriveled up long ago), and appears to be in deep thought.

In another section of TL Corporate HQ, Aldo is showing that his balls are firmly in place and large, and walks willingly into the lion’s den. He enters Tio Max’s office (the guy who nearly choked him to death the evening before) and says they need to talk.
A: I don’t like that you called me a traitor, because I’m not.
M: Oh no?!!
A: No Uncle. I’ve been very straight with you. You asked me to help Lastra get rid of all evidence of Inferno, and I did it. Last night my mom asked me how I had betrayed you, and I made something up to throw the blame away from you…
M: Enough already Aldo!! You’re expecting me to thank you for your loyalty, right? (Approaches Aldo and shoves him hard in the chest.) You’re the one who came to me, begging me (rogandome) to give you work. Don’t forget that!
A: But uncle, you’re the one…
M: How many times have I told you that Vicky is off limits?! That this woman is prohibited to you!
A: Yes Uncle. You told me. But the truth (la neta) is that she doesn’t want anything to do with you.
M: Now it seems that she’s been speaking badly about me behind my back.
A: No Uncle. What’s happened is that Vicky is my friend. (Max turns his back to Aldo and starts fondling a dangerous looking letter opener on his desk. Yikes!) She told me what you did to her, and excuse me Uncle, but truly you’ve gone too far (te pasas). Look…
M: Enough already imbecile!!! (Max grabs the letter opener with one hand and Aldo’s collar with the other! Then he points the letter opener at Aldo while holding his throat.) Neither you nor a vulgar manicurist is going to question my actions!
A: (Stammering) No, no Uncle. Everyone knows Maximino Torreslanda is very powerful. But for realzies Uncle, Vicky’s really hurt by/disappointed in you. You mistreat her regularly. And what’s more, you could have any girl you want. Give Vicky a chance and leave her in peace already!
M: What are you thinking, imbecile?!!! (Throws Aldo to the couch and goes towards him as if about to give the death blow with the letter opener.)
