Amor Bravío #12 (Uni 7) Tue 8/21/12 The Great Escapes: Daniel, from the chains of an unjust prison sentence; Camila, from the chains of the Kimodo!

 Daniel’s Cell

Abraham tells Daniel he’ll be in jail the rest of his life – İMiriam está muerta(muerta, muerta)! İİNO PUEDE SER!! Daniel denies killing her and their child and begs to see her.  Abraham tells him that’s not going to happen because he killed her and now he’d love nothing more than to kill him with his own bare hands. 

Rancho Malquerida

Camila tries to extricate Alonso’s foot from his mouth and tells him Viviana is a photographer and the photo she has is representative of her work.  Alonso stammers that he had no idea and apologizes, as does Camila. Viviana graciously accepts their apology and says it’s perfectly fine – we all have different tastes.  Camila assures her she loves the photo.  Agustina arrives and introduces herself.  She responds to Viviana’s compliment on the ranch by saying it’s not really her ranch, but Alonso interrupts her, asking if dinner is ready.  Agustina suggests una copita first.  Camila is all for it but Alonso again interrupts saying he needs to get back to work and doesn’t have a lot of time.  The ladies leave the room before Alonso who takes this opportunity to ask Natalia to put the photo in the guestroom closet. 

Chile Jail

We hear Andres and two other inmates discussing a jailbreak and the need to bypass the computer firewall.  One suggests asking Daniel to use his computer knowledge to help them.  Andres says there’s no way Daniel is going to help because he still thinks there’s a chance he’ll beat the charges.    Another inmate disagrees, saying no one gets out of here.  Andres agrees but feels Daniel won’t join them until he too realizes the only out of here is to die here or escape. 

Isadora’s Depa

Dionisio never imagined Alonso would be do jealous.  Isadora explains he has his motives.  This causes Dionisio to think Camila may have given him reason to be jealous.  Isadora hesitates but tells him it’s really none of his concern.  Dionisio tells her she’s wrong.  Everything is his business.  Isadora uses Camila’s past with Luis as the reason for his jealousy and so that’s why Alonso’s so insecure.  This is the first Dionisio hears of Camila’s story.  Isadora agrees to fill him in some day.  For now, she’s very happy he’s going to Chile to personally take care of this issue.  They toast, but Dionisio looks at her as though he knows there’s more to this story. 

Daniel’s Cell

He sits alone in his cell, despondent over Miriam.  Why did she leave him alone when he loves her so much?  He flashes back to that nightmare of him running through a forest in a morning suit.  Andres comes in and Daniel explains his wife and child have died.  All he wanted to do was protect them from that criminal. 

Rancho Malquerida

Everyone is now at dinner.  Agustina is happy her daughter now has a friend, saying she’s the first friend she’s invited to their home.  She mentions Camila used have more of a social life.  Through Alonso’s prompting, we learn that Viviana dedicates herself only to her photography, she’s divorced and decided to come live here on her own.  Alonso thinks it strange she would come to this pueblo alone.  Camila comes to the rescue and suggests they get on with their dinner.  Viviana comments that her dinners never look this good and Camila invites her to come by any time she’d like.  They joke about this but Alonso asks Camila not to pressure Viviana into accepting that invitation.  *Buzzkill!* He begins to suggests that Viviana’s schedule is very different from theirs and therefore may not be available for dinner when they are.  (He so obviously doesn’t want Camila to have a friend.)  He assumes this because he sees her as an artist.  Viviana isn’t so sure she’d claim to be an artist but a person who has a passion for what she loves. 

Back to Daniel’s Cell

Daniel doesn’t know what’s expected of him.  His wife and child are gone and his brother-in-law wants to see him rot in jail.  His lawyer can’t help him and the person he thought could help him, can’t.  Andres suggests there are other ways.  Daniel doesn’t see how, he can’t even attend Miriam’s funeral—hug her, kiss her, say goodbye. It’s no use.  He pounds on the wall and asks, why, why, why?  Andres says life isn’t fair but things happen for a reason.  Daniel wishes he could die this very moment.  Andres says no one dies when they want, only when it’s their time.  He tells Daniel to be ready in order to get justice.  Daniel thinks that’s futile since he can’t even get out of this maldita carcel.  It’s then that Andres suggests they flee this Maldita Carcel.   Daniel thinks this is crazy, they could be killed.  Andres would rather die trying to escape than serve out an unjust sentence.  Well, he and some friends have been working at this for some time but they need someone good at computers.  He tells Daniel to decide whether or not to join them but decide by tonight.  Oh, and he’d better not tell anyone.  Duh

Rancho Malquerida

Camila shows Viviana around the ranch, pointing out certain bulls as Viv shoots photos.  Viv asks Camila what Agustina meant by saying Camila used to have a busy social life.  What changed?   Camila says her life changed from one day to the next.  It’s as though someone took all her hopes and dreams – even her smiles. 

Rancho Malquerida Kitchen

Piedad, Leonicio, and Natalia are having dinner.  Leonicio shares the gossip he’s heard – that the Ranch no longer belongs to the patrones and that they’re waiting for the arrival of the new owner.  Piedad shares that she prepared the guest room but he never arrived.  Leonicio tells Natalia that she’s no better than they are and if they’re going to have a new boss, it’s best they know who he is.  Piedad wonders if the shock of having an heir is what caused Dionisio’s heart attack.  Natalia knows Don Daniel already had a heart problem and wouldn’t it be best if they all got back to work?  Before she leaves them to have her coffee in the office, Leonicio asks if she would tell him if she heard anything.  She doesn’t answer and just leaves.  After she’s gone, he tells Piedad he’s sure Natalia knows something. 

Rancho Malquerida

Back at the pasture, Camila has finished telling her story to Viv.  She had gotten to the point where her life consisted of only her Tío, her mother, and the ranch.  And this is where she met Alonso.  He was already here when her mother and she arrived.  Viv figures this is why Alonso seemed to be jealous of her, because he’s had her all to himself all this time.  Camila figures this is probably true but she’s so happy to have a BFF again!  Viv is happy and says her time of grief is over.  It ‘s now time to be happy, have fun, go to the light!  They agree to be friends and Viv invites Camila, Alonso, and Agustina over on Saturday.  She’s having a get together with Rafael Quintana, the writer of the book she’s working on. 

Chile

In his cell, our poor Daniel thinks of Miriam and  happier times, this can’t be true, it must be a nightmare.  He swears this will change.  Andres returns for his decision – Daniel accepts!

Rancho Malquerida

Before Natalia leaves for the night, Camila asks her if she’s seen that photograph.  Natalia tells her how Andres asked it be placed in the guestroom closet.  Camila wants it hung in the cabaña tomorrow.  After Natalia leaves, Camila runs upstairs to confront Andres about the photo.  She tells him she will decide what to do with her gifts, not him.  He apologizes.   He sees that Camila was very taken with the photographer while he found her to be too overfamiliar (confianzuda) , liberal.  Camila says that’s precisely what she liked about her.  She doesn’t seem to take life so seriously.  Alonso doesn’t think she should put too much confidence in her and end up disillusioned.  There’s something about her he doesn’t like but can’t explain why.  Well, Camila says she likes her then she tells him about Saturday’s invitation.  Alonso of course does not want to attend. Camila feels it would be rude not to attend.  They bicker back and forth and he tries to put his foot down and says they’re not going.  Camila repeats she wants to go – what’s the problem?  He repeats he just doesn’t like Viv and then says she’s from another social class.  Camila finds this ridiculous and tells him if he doesn’t want to go, fine.  But she plans to go with or without him.  Alonso doesn’t understand her need to attend without him when they’re so comfortable in their home.  She wonders who he’s trying to fool-- they’re clearly having problems.  In fact, she thinks it could do them some good to socialize a little.  Well, he thinks the complete opposite.  What they need is time alone together.  He doesn’t understand her need to accept this woman’s invitation.   Her priority should be him and not some woman she’s just met.  Whatever!  He leaves to shower and she is clearly frustrated.

Alonso later returns and they speak again about Vivian and how he doesn’t like her, and has nothing in common with her.  Camila:  Well I do.  Good  night. 

Chile Jail – Operation Jailbreak

Andres introduces Daniel to the gang.  They share their plan and if he can get into the jail computer system, they’ll be able to break out.  Andres and Daniel eventually return to their cell and Daniel says he’ll have to review the plans all night.  Cells are closed for the night and we see Daniel reviewing blueprints with the use of a flashlight. 

Días después……Our hero has been busy working on “el plan”.  I didn’t catch a lot of what he said but bottom line, he was able to insert a virus into the main computer system that will destroy their records, making it harder for them to recapture them. 

Metepe, Estado de Mexico

Isadora is on the phone with Dionisio, who is in Chile to see Daniel.  He promises he doesn’t plan to leave until he’s worked out a plan with Daniel to put Rancho Malquerida in their hands.  She warns him he’d better not push her aside and forget they’re both involved in this.  Of course not, he says.  She’s his inspiration!  Then he laughs his evil laugh.

Rancho Malquerida: Camila makes her own escape!

Camila is ready to go and wants mom to come with her but can’t convince her.  She’s not happy about going alone but Alonso didn’t want to go with her and she really wants to get out and meet other people. *gee, maybe she should’ve thought of that before agreeing to become Mrs. Kimodo Dragon!*  Agustina worries this may cause problems with her marriage.  Camila doesn’t feel she’s doing anything wrong and besides, Alonso doesn’t own her.  Agustina still worries they’ll have problems.  Too late, says Camila.  She’s afraid she and Alonso already have problems and they may be irreconcilable.   Agustina then hits her with this dicho:  “Una golondrina no hace un verano” (one swallow doesn’t make a summer) – Camila laughs and Agustina explains that if she doesn’t go out this one time doesn’t mean she’ll never go out again!  Camila continues to laugh and leaves her saying this is a ranch, we have bulls and cows, not swallows. 

Chile – Jailbreak!

It’s on like Donkey Kong!  The guys are on the move.  As they make their move, we see Dionisio in the office trying to arrange a visit with Daniel. The guy in charge will see what he can do – the warden left for the night.  The guys continue their escape.

Rancho Malquerida

Leonicio comes by to tell Alonso he needs money for feed.  Alonso will speak to the Mrs.  And this is when Leonicio informs him she’s not there, she asked Rodolfo to drive her into town and she was all gussied up.  Way to go Leonicio, now Alonso knows and springs into action.

Viviana’s Party

Camila arrives alone.  Introductions all around.  In the meantime, Alonso is asking Agustina for Viv’s address.  He can’t believe she’s gone ahead without him.  Agustina thinks he’s exaggerating.  He disagrees, of course, saying that woman isn’t good for Camila.  She never would have done this before meeting Viviana.  He’s convinced Camila went to that party just to bug him and to show him his opinion doesn’t matter.  Agustina doesn’t see anything wrong with Camila wanting to get out.  Maybe this will teach him to go with her next time.  He figured Agustina would take her daughter’s side in all this.  Agustina is trying to be objective.  They’re both at fault.  Camila, for going along without him and Alonso,  for not wanting to please (complacer) her. 

The jailbreak continues………we see our intrepid hero creeping through a tunnel

Back at the party, Viviana tells Camila that the author was very impressed with the pictures of the bulls.  Thanks to her, she has work!   She then introduces her to the author, Rafael Quintana *hubba hubba*.  Their eyes meet, are there sparks?  Hmmmm.

Back at the Ranch – Alonso angrily takes off to find Camila.  He refuses Leonicio’s not so urgent offer to drive him.

Jailbreak – one guard speaks to another saying there’s a guy here looking for an inmate and he has an official document giving him permission.  As this is being discussed Daniel hides nearby…..they’re still on the grounds?!?  Yeeesh

Viviana’s Party

Rafael and Camila share small talk and she tells him she’s the vet at Rancho Malquerida, not the owner.  He’s honored that she allowed her bulls to be photographed for his book.  He’s well aware of Rancho Malquerida, he’s a fan of La Fiesta Brava. He offers her a drink and the talk turns to his profession, writing.  He notices her wedding ring. 

--Alonso almost gets into a car wreck on his way into town.

Rafael tells Viv he thinks Camila is gourgeous and can’t believe her husband let her come alone.  She believes all is not right in paradise but warns him not to get too excited about that.

Jailbreak

Now they’re in the office.  They cause a disruption to bring the guard in.   Andres attacks him with a night stick as Daniel runs upstairs to the computer.  He scrambles the images on the screen and sends a signal to open his co-conspirators cells.  He just begins to erase his records when the guard arrives.  He hides and Andres comes to the rescue, attacking the guard from behind, but not before he raises the alarm.  Dionisio is right in the middle of all this as the prison guards go on high alert.  He’s told to leave immediately. 

The escapees finally make it to the outer door.  Some escape, some are apprehended, and some are shot.  Andres and Daniel make it further still but Andres is eventually shot down.  Daniel stops to help him but Andres tells him to go ahead.  Daniel doesn’t want to leave without him but Andres urges him to go on and find justice for them both. 

Partycrasher

Alonso arrives at the party and barges right in looking for Camila.  Camila is surprised he found the place…..and he starts right in, saying he had to look all over town until he finally found the car and Rodolfo.  Oh my, he’s going to cause a scene.  He complains it’s impossible to get in touch with her since she doesn’t carry a cell phone. He grabs her by the arm and pulls her to the door.  She tells him to calm down.  Alonso:  “You want me to calm down?  Then obey me right now!”  Rafael comes to her rescue getting between them telling Alonso this is no way to treat a lady!  Yeah, you tell him, cutie pie.  Alonso tells him to butt out.   Rafael says he will not butt out while he treats Camila, or any other woman in such a manner.  Hearing him address her as “Camila” sets him off and he immediately wants to know who this tipo is.  She explains he’s the author she told him about.  She tells Viviana they’re leaving and apologizes.  Both Viviana and Rafael attempt unsuccessfully to keep her from leaving.  Rafael is astonished and Viviana tells him, “See why I think their marriage isn’t working?”

Outside, Alonso continues to manhandle Camila, telling her to get in the car.  He tells Rodolfo to take off, he isn’t needed. 

Jailbreak

The captured jailbirds are lined up with their hands on their heads.  Meanwhile, Daniel is still carrying Andres somewhere out in the jungle.  He stops and discovers that Andres has died.  He moves on, just ahead of the guards. 

Alonso Flips Out

Inside the car, the couple continues to argue.  Camila says she only left to avoid further scandal.  Alonso tells her she could have avoided the scandal altogether if she hadn’t come to begin with.  Camila:  “You behaved like a complete jerk (patán), arrogant and omnipotent as though I were your property and I will not allow it!”  ruh-roh.  Alonso pulls over and tells her:  “You provoked this because you left when I didn’t want you to!  Don’t forget I’m your husband.”  Camila:  “But you’re not my owner.  As for being my husband, well that’s only on paper.” Oooh, fightin’ words!  Alonso grabs her forcefully, accusing her of purposely provoking him because he wasn’t able to, er, perform.  She denies this saying she’s only trying to say that going to a party alone isn’t a big deal, whether you’re married, divorced, or a widow.  NO!  The only thing he understands is that what he’s feeling, this impotence (he points to his groin, ha!)  doesn’t matter to her.  If she felt any solidarity to him, she wouldn’t have taken off with that “vieja”, she would have stayed and supported him, give him some assurance.  That’s what they both need, because this isn’t just his problem.  She’s as much to blame as he is.    Wait, what?  Stay tuned folks!
