So far this show seems to be about 2/3 comedy and 1/3 romantic drama, which suits me fine. After GUARDIAN, I’ll just be grateful if we can get through it without narcos or dismemberments.

I’ll try to get a name/relationship list up later tonight. Unless someone beats me to it. ☺️

Blue Lass, thanks . I know all the veteran actors and actresses, I am having trouble sorting out all the darkhaired young guys and girls pursuing\rejecting each other .
I've never seen the guy playing Mariano ( the galan???) Before , but so far I haven't noticed a lot of charm\ charisma ...but then , I under the spell of Franko and his over the top idea of romance ( colorful post it notes, magic markers, getting shot..A lot...going to the hospital after being shot...A !ot.)) Mariano mostly is the night rider who rescues people who fall off their horses. Both Marriano and Tomas seem very serious,...not a lot of playful smiles or laughs so far . Susan

Blue Lass: Something tells me that this Telenovela will have their EVIL sinister phases with the villains wreaking havoc.

I am liking the mystery of the wine recipe that could be related to the symbols on the palm trees (they sort of look like horoscope symbols? )and that Angela now has a way of finding out their significance if she can find her grandpappy’s notebooks.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a telenovela with so many people already in love BEFORE IT EVEN STARTED.

Anyway, here’s a first stab at the names & relationships:

    LOS SARMIENTO

Vicente (Cesar Evora): father of Max, erstwhile lover of Rosa, presumably married to Max’s mother at some point although we haven’t seen hide nor hair of her – not even a picture.
Max (Eduardo Santamarina): husband of Chata, father of Tomas and Antonia (and possibly others on the wrong side of the sheets), teenage sweetheart of Filomena.
Josefina/Chata (Erika Buenfil): wife of Max, mother of Tomas and Antonia.
Pilar (Nuria Bages): mother of Josefina/Chata (no father in evidence.)
Tomas (Juan Diego Covarrubias): sudden boyfriend of Angela.
Antonia (Daniela Alvarez): girlfriend of Julian.

    LOS SOLANO

Juan (Alejandro Ibarra): father of Bernabe, Virginia and Julian, widow of their three mothers (we don’t need to learn their names, do we?), fiance of Amparo (at least until Sunday, one way or the other.)
Amparo (Edsa Ramirez): fiancee of Juan (see parenthetical qualifier above.)
Bernabe (Federico Espejo): pursuer of Amparo, employee of Tomas (for the moment.)
Virginia (Ana Karen Parra): secret girlfriend of Ramon/Moncho.
Julian (Luis Enrique Duval): boyfriend of Antonia.

    CASA DE ROSA

Angela (Eva Cedeno): granddaughter of Rosa, daughter of Margarita, sudden girlfriend of Tomas.
Lucero (Ara Saldivar): ward of Rosa, (possibly temporary) fiancee of Mariano.
Filomena (Lisset): housekeeper of Rosa (and now of Angela), teenage sweetheart of Max, mother of Mariano (no husband in evidence.)
Mariano (Mario Moran): son of Filomena, (possibly temporary) fiance of Lucero, employee of Vicente.
Ramon/Moncho (Christian Ramos): secret boyfriend of Virginia, employee of Vicente.
Segundo (Rodrigo Vidal): suitor of Filomena.

    Blue Lass,

This is so helpful. Many thanks! As to your comment that so many couples are already formed, now we know what some of the tn will be about! My guess is that some couples may not stay together!

I like this show. It is like Monteverde. Great actors, humor, and less violence. Very nice for a change of pace! The wonderful food makes me hungry, just like Max!!!

Blue Lass, wow, thank you . Your clever list helps me so much to figure out who's who and what's what and to understand the connections between the characters . The nicknames just make things more confusing . Susan

Thanks Blue Lass for the round up of characters. Are the two younger actors Segundo's kids or siblings and is the girl (name?) interested in Moncho? I haven't figured out why Virginia and Moncho are hiding their relationship.

I also like the comedic twist. As others have mentioned, the 2 supposed leads, Angela and Mariano are not winning me over much.

Plot wise are there 2 vineyards, Vicente has one and did Rosa have a competing vineyard? Did Angela study winemaking in the city? I'm trying to make sense of the business side which is likely a mistake as telenovelas never get businesses right.

Switching up the roles from Monte Verde with so much of the same cast is messing with my mind. Especially the switch in the priests and Virginia is now a Doctor and not a sort of ditzy woman. Lucero is doing a good job of playing a blind woman, I figured it out in the very first scene.

Blue Lass, thanks for the character outline. That’s going to be a big help to me.
I was surprised that Mariano saw the bottles of wine in Angela’s purse and didn’t take them. And when he told Vincent, Vincent was unconcerned and said she wouldn’t find anything.

Susan, I goofed up on relationships and told you the wrong thing. The daughter is Max’s, the son is Juan’s(the guy engaged to wife #4). Juan is trying to just get them to marry. I think Max thinks the son is his, making the couple half siblings!

I thought Max liked the woman that cooks for the food, his wife apparently thinks it’s a romance. So I’m not sure.

I don’t like Tomas or Angela. I think Tomas is using Angela just to get his grandfather’s recipe. He’s jealous and petty.

I like the more relaxed show, no killings is good.

Blue Lass, thank you so much for your clear and inclusive character listing! It was so helpful you noted the actors real names as that is how I identify most of them.

So is Max Mariano's father? I have a hard time reconciling Cesar Evora being Eduardo Santamarina's father. They seem contemporaries but Cesar is I believe 9 years older...

Okay, we had a commercial for a Mac. The kids probably never should have taken it home even though they plan on returning it the next day. Could make them look like thieves.

I do admit I had to laugh at Max running all over with his rifle. It bordered on slapstick. The indigestion didn’t do him in but I kept on waiting for him to collapse under the exhaustion from his “husky” build.

Mariano deserved the slap. He was absolutely obnoxious and disrespectful with his mother Filomena not accepting that Max wasn’t his father and then with his fiancée Lucero. What a crack to make about how she couldn’t understand because she didn’t have a mother and father. He apologized but that could get old really quick.

Can’t wait to see if Max gets arrested for disturbing the peace.

    Here’s a few more:

Fidel (Armando Hernandez): manservant to Los Solano (because it’s “bad luck” for women to come into the house)
Concepcion/Conchita (Sabik Salazar): maidservant to the Max Sarmiento family, sister of Violeta, dating Fidel, love interest of Amador(?)
Violeta (Palmeira Cruz): maidservant to the Max Sarmiento family, sister of Concepcion/Conchita, interested in Ramon/Moncho
Amador (Facundo Castro): son of Segundo, interested in Conchita(?)
Tamara (Regina Palacio): daughter of Segundo
Padre Pedro (Oscar Bonfiglio): brother of Juan, uncle of Bernabe, Virginia and Julian
Margarita (Pilar Ixquic): mother of Angela, daughter of Rosa and Gonzalo

ITA with everyone who finds the main couple lacking charm.

ITA with Susan in telling all the dark-haired maidens apart. It took me four episodes to figure out that the doctor and Juan's daughter are the same person.

ITA with Babachita on the food. I want it all, even if I have to look it up. (Except maybe "huitlacoche" -- corn smut fungus? Really?)

ITA with Diana on finding the 9-year age difference between Cesar E and Eduardo S as father and son a bit of a stretch.

And speaking of suspending disbelief, ITA with Kat on the whole "family" wine business:
    * Vicente and Max/Tomas have separate wineries on the same land, one organic and one mechanized, and don't share information?
    * Rosa/Gonzalo lived in that house until Rosa had an affair with Vicente and Gonzalo moved to "the city" (Queretaro) but then Vicente called it quits with Rosa and never visited her, didn't even know she was dying?
    * Angela studied oenology at university but never visited the countryside before ("Oooo, there's so many stars!")?

I'm waiting for my beanie. Apparently they're back-ordered.

Blue Lass, thank you so much for continuing to attempt to unravel these characters and their connections . My head is spinning . I plan to just let this show wash over me .
One quick comment .. My father grew acres of corn . I have picked, husked, frozen bushelscand bushels of corn , and I've seen smut....nobody should be eating it...ugh..... Susan

More ID's!! Thank you, Blue Lass; this is so helpful, I had no idea of the names of any of those characters except the dear padre of course. :)

"...then Vicente called it quits with Rosa and never visited her, didn't even know she was dying?" Yes, that definitely made no sense. Great point.

Out of all the storylines and characters, I'm enjoying Max the most. His hijinks and facial expressions are making me smile. Chata has a full-time job trying to keep him in check, doesn't she? Good luck... :)A tailor-made role for the talented actor.

Diana, watching Max and Chata spur is such fun. These two actors have been in so many novels over the years . They are both chewing up the scenery and making the most of the humorous aspects of this show . Max really likes to choke people .yikes . Susan

I have never seen Eduardo Santamarina in anything before, and I am really enjoying him as well. The character of Max is a bit over the top, but he seems to be having such fun!

Also I usually find Juan Diego Covarrubias pretty hard to take, but I have to admire his skill at portraying smarmy and spoiled. Tomas is a character you love to hate.

  20. Another weird thing about Vicente and Rosa glared at me. Why did Mariano ask Vicente for Lucero's hand in marriage if Rosa was her adopted mother and Vicente and Rosa were no longer on speaking terms.

I also wondered about Mariano's parentage and actually thought maybe Max was his father. I no longer think Max is the father of Julian ( although Max seems to think he is. Go grab a strand of his hair and run the DNA, Max) as I anticipate a HEA with him and Antonia.

Max and Chata are my favorite characters so far. If course they has to introduce 2 more faces at the wine tasting. The unattractive (to me) son seems interested in Antonia.

Kat , Ed has been in novels for many years . I have seen him in several shows in the last ten years or so, and he began playing The Big Bad . He can bring the wicked . He is married to another veteran novela star who has, also Been in lots of shows as the leading lady. Susan

Blue Lass, Juan Diego C. Has Been in .many novels that I've watched in the last eight years or so . He often played good guys , often the bff of the galan . More recently, he started playing villains. I have never seen him play a galan. Susan

Jajajajaja Elmero de Fudd. Max always makes me laugh.

What if Max isn’t actually VIRGINIA’S father? That would save the romance (although it’s hard to imagine for uptight Chata.)

Still not warming up to Angela. Maybe she needs a Pomeranian necklace.

  26. SABOR

Now I know that I prefer Eduardo Santamarina (Max) in comedies and not dramas. I am always surprised how many of these actors are good at both comedy and drama. Loved how the priest said that Chata couldn't throw Max out because he was under house arrest.

We have one name of Juan’s now deceased wives: the cheater(?) Ornela. I feel sorry for Juan but there is his widower three times over problem (for me at least.) Julián needs a DNA test.

Well, another night search for someone. Product placement for flashlights ???
Joyless Mariano and Angela putting all kinds of things into a deep hole in the ground . QTH??? No chemistry between these two.
How does Juan get all these young women ? Is he rich ?

"Joyless Mariano and Angela putting all kinds of things into a deep hole in the ground . QTH??? No chemistry between these two" had me laughing Susan and you are totally right, not a spark.

"Still not warming up to Angela. Maybe she needs a Pomeranian necklace". Perfect Blue Lass!

Jarifa, Eduardo is a gem here...I'd be happy to have him on the screen 90% of the time.

I've seen Ed in Nadie como tu for my first time. Then more recently in Juegos de Amor y poder. Bad guy in both of those. I do admire his acting and this show I'm liking his comedic side.

The actress playing Angela I saw in half a series last summer (which I quit halfway through, though she wasn't who drove me away). In this show she has no animation when she recites her lines, she is totally wooden and speaks in almost a monotone. Maybe it's because she can't get into the role.

When I first started viewing telenovelas 3 + years ago everyone was new to me and I had no preconceptions. In a way that made them easier to watch. Now I want to call them by former characters names, or imbue them with the same characteristics as their former roles.

Susan, I must have looked away while the digging scene was going on. Are they planting new grapevines?

Vicente told Mariano to show Angela “the ritual” to keep her occupied — something about giving back to Mother Earth to thank her for her bounty, yadda yadda, very pagan — but Angela was not fooled. She knows there’s more to “the secret” than that.

  31. SABOR

Also, at the wine tasting, Juan told a long story about his and Max’s great-grandfathers coming over from Asturias in 1906 to start their vineyard, and how the families have been close ever since.

As for the taster and his flirty son (Rodrigo and Clemente Zavala, per the subtitles), I can’t find any mention of them anywhere online, so they may not be significant characters.

Tomas announced that he is hiring a PR guy for the winery, since his parents can’t be let out in public without making a scene.

The writers, seem to be throwing out anything that pops into their minds
    .
Kat, yes, Blue Lass explained that odd scene perfectly ... Mariano had dug a deep pit ,and then he and wooden Angela tossed stuff into it ...offerings to Mother Earth...who probably was laughing hysterically ...wine, water, and other things . it was very moving....no , it wasn't .

So far , my favorite character is Lucero.

Another actor who has been in many, many shows is the guy who is stalking the doctor . Is there a reason that she always looks annoyed ?

I guess the big question is Max's love child . The writers will Probably keep us guessing .

What is up with the guy who likes Philmena and his two kids ? Susan

I’m thinking everyone of a certain age will turn out to be Max’s offspring.

Yeah, probably not! But definitely some weird stuff in Monte Alegre! Love Santamarina and all the cast.

I think Angela has been directed to act wooden. She’s a good enough actress. Has to be due to the plot. At least I hope she improves!

Enjoying this and all the great comments.
