VIVIR #42 Part 1
ReplyDeleteElena mewls to Gi that Angel won’t accept her sister; she’s concerned about her three children (rightly so).
At the police station, Lupe gives Rebeca the side eye complaining about her to Angel. Beca sees them talking and grouses to JE. My heavens, Rebeca’s eye makeup now includes six-inch eyelashes. I digress. Rebeca recalls putting the poison in Alma’s drink as she bats her cat like eyes at JE.
Agent Corral comes out and says the declarations are about to begin.
Starry, starry night skies...
Luciano is in the shower as Romina hugs his shirt, inhaling his scent. She takes his phone and we can tell she is making mischief.
A sweet scene with Fatima and Don Emilio as he gently teases her about Luciano as she smiles sweetly, hopping around his desk to kiss him on the cheek.
Uh oh, Fatima calls JE and what appears but a picture of Luciano, Romina, and the children at the fair, all smiling happily! Fatima cries in frustration.
“Romina why are you here” Luciano asks as he emerges from the shower, fully dressed. She tries to seduce him but he looks annoyed and completely uninterested. He removes her hands and tells her plainly he is not interested in her romantically, he cares about her only as the mother of his children. In a subsequent scene, he is quite gentle with his rejection.
Angel and JE are the first to be interrogated by Agent Corral.
Rebeca and JE are back home; Rebeca laying it on as thickly as her troweled eye liner. She snuggles against his shoulder. I have one favor she pleads, please stay with me tonight, I am so alone. Forgive me JE says but no, buenas noches. Rebeca looks furious blaming Angel. Maldita; I hate you!
There was a scene where a man prayed in front of a statue in the market as Armando stood behind him. The man was upset and Armando spoke with him; while I couldn’t understand what was said, Doris, who was standing a few feet away certainly did as she shook her head rather disgustedly. If there was something important we were supposed to glean from this scene, kindly share.
Rebeca is also at the marketplace. It appears she is doing something to the flowers in Alma’s stall. My guess is that she is injecting the same poison that she gave to Alma, perhaps to trick the police into thinking the poisoning was an accident and not intentional. The procession continues…
Ahh, quite soon after, Agent Corral and men in white lab coats arrive to inspect the flower containers.
The group at the marketplace pauses in front of the statue with Loli and Pedrito right in the front. They pray adorably.
Lupe, her husband, Lucas, Wanda, Marisa and Carmelo (whose name we just learned) gather as Lupe cries about Alma. Carmelo chases Lucas and confronts him about Brayan.
Sebastian welcomes Gabriela back to work.
Doris greets Rebeca. Rebeca mentions the investigation and blames Angel for ruining her chance with JE. She asks Doris to get information from Sebastian.

ReplyDeleteMonica and Misael talk as she swills liquor from a flask.
Lucas and Mati have a plan. I believe Lucas is going to try and trap Brayan during a jewelry store heist. He is going to hack the system to disable the cameras but once inside, Mati is going to hack in to turn the cameras on!!
Gabriel is now complaining to Sandy about Lucas. Sandy seems to be as exasperated as I am. He later confronts Luciano…
Lucas seems to be telling Carmelo he has a plan to catch Brayan. He pleads for one day which Carmelo seems to give him. Lucas hears whistling and cartwheels away.
Lucas is at the jewelry store, telling the salesperson he is looking for something for his novia. As she disappears into the back room, Brayan enters the front door of the store seemingly getting a lay of the land.
Luciano is frustrated he can’t reach Fatima and sees the picture Romina put on his phone.
The storekeeper comes from the back with a box and Lucas pays for the item. Brayan is still in the store and sees a huge necklace and points at it (my thought being he was thinking of Rebeca).
JE and Fatima are in his office as she warns him not to let Rebeca manipulate him. She hands him an invitation for the expo which appears to be the hottest ticket in town. Uh oh.
The expo is indeed the talk of the town as Angel, Jimena, and Elena are discussing the same. Jimena wants Angel to forget her problems for a moment. Rebeca comes up and the joy fades quickly from Angel’s face. Rebeca finds out that both Angel and JE are leaving on a trip. Angel leaves as Santiago comes up and gives Rebeca a hug and then goes to his mother. Angel peers through the glass door looking hurt.
Lupe tells Flaco how nervous she is. She blesses Lucas and tells him she loves him as the three embrace.
Marisa and Lupe arrive at the hotel for the expo. Carmelo calls Marisa; she makes kissy faces and hangs up.
Cris calls out to Rebeca. How is your mother she asks? She tells Cris she loves JE with all of her heart.
Angel stalks off from talking with Reb and Elena.
JE arrives at the hotel. By accident, he hears not only that Angel is there but her room number!
Angel is talking with Lupe as there is a knock on her glass door. JE, what are you doing here? He is holding a small but pretty bouquet. She shuts him down immediately and firmly. Thank you for the flowers. Mi vida, he pleads, give me just two minutes. She shuts the door and pulls the curtain as he is still begging! We see thunder and lightning and he stands there as she peers out and then draws the drapes together. He doesn’t appear to be leaving and she turns on and blares the TV putting her hands over her ears. Lightning strikes again. And then the dark clouds part and torrential rain begins. He still stands there as the theme music plays.

Lucas is going to get in trouble ...again ...and his mama has no idea what this kid is doing.
Romina, Romina, you didn't think twice about leaving your husband and children , but now you are in trouble and want them back. Too bad.
I'm not proud of myself, but I did forgive JE as he stood out in the rain . At least, he keeps rejecting Becky's nonstop advances . It must be exhausting . We need some love and happiness in this tale.

Vivir. Another excellent recap, Diana. "laying it on as thickly as her troweled eyeliner." Love it! That statue is St. Jude, the saint of impossible causes. The man praying has lost his butcher shop, and the man behind him, who owns the market, has 2 vacant stalls and offers to give 1 to the man praying. Kind of brought back memories. My dad was Catholic and my maternal grandmother Presbyterian. Whenever 1 of us kids lost something my dad would pray to St. Jude. So whenever we lost something and told our grandmother, she'd say: "Tell your father. He can pray to his old witch and find it." A business expo! Oh my! How (not) exciting! I suppose it's a way to add a little variety to the narrative. Thanks for explaining Lucas's and Matilde's plot. I hadn't been able to follow quite all the details. Hope it works! (But no doubt something will go wrong.) Romina is so creepy that we hardly care that she's suffering due to a false accusation. How handy that JE hears Angelli's room #. He arrives at just the rt. time. (Only in a telenovela!)

I love Luciano and JE's stern resolutions NOT to cave to Romina and Rebeca's pleas. Nice to see for once.

Thank you for identifying the statue! I'm Catholic and familiar with St. Jude (the recipient of many of my prayers) but had no idea that was his likeness! I enjoyed your story...I can't believe Armando (Gi's husband) actually did something nice, giving the man a spot. St. Jude works quickly!!

Lucas and the best laid plans. I readily admit I am concerned.

OT...I dont want to see roosters fighting , but I like Lucero and can usually tolerate Jose Ron , so I will tune into El Gallo de Oro.

ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Diana, another great recap. Another frustrating episode. I’m ready for all the lies to be exposed and the bad people get what’s coming to them. Rebeca seems to always be a step ahead.
I was hoping our police detective would figure out that Rebeca might have been the reason Alma asked both Angel and JE to come over. But it looks like they’ll rule it an accidental poisoning. I expect she’ll try to poison Angel next. Or do away with her another way.
I’m not sure why Cris seems to be on Rebeca’s side. She knows JE loves Angel but I feel she wants to make him love Rebeca.
Poor Angel. Her mom and brother are both so happy with Rebeca. She must feel so lonely. I’m glad she didn’t give in to JE. I’m expecting Rebeca to show up so he needs to be in his own bed!
I wasn’t sure why they were carrying the statue of St. Jude around. I’m assuming they were praying for Alma. So the cards might have been Mass cards. Not sure and not Catholic, but have plenty of Catholic friends. So just a guess.
I don’t like boxing but enjoyed the telenovela where Jose Ron was a boxer. So I may watch the rooster show. But one of these others would have to end! I don’t think I can watch 4 telenovelas at the same time!

I kind of got the impression Armando was up to something when he offered up a space for rent. Romina and Mati almost look like mother and daughter. I couldn't quite figure out why Rebecca sprayed the flowers at the market, unless it was to disperse it through the spray bottle. It seemed the strength(1 dropper in a spray bottle which may be inadvertently inhaled as opposed to 2 dropper full in a cup of tea which was ingested) would be too weak.

Rebeca DOES always seem to "be a step ahead"; so frustrating. And I agree, I think the poisoning will be ruled as "accidental" and sadly, Rebeca will be off the hook.
I also fear Angel is going to be Rebeca's next target.
Elena's attitude toward Angel, wanting to forgive and forget what Rebeca has done to her in a NY minute is confounding. And disappointing. No wonder Angel is feeling like an outsider.
Loli and Pedrito were at the St. Jude ceremony but I don't recall Lupe and Marisa being there (?). Mass cards being handed out are an excellent guess.
I also loved Ringo! Rgv Chick and I recapped that four years ago! How quickly time flies...

For some reason I'm obsessed with Refrida's hair. It looks quite lovely now. Was the curly stuff a wig? She obviously looks much better now. The writers haven't said anything about the change. Others here have said they've seen her as a "good girl". What was her hair like in those roles?
Yep, Romina was delighted to discover that Luciano hadn't changed his password so she could plant that happy family picture and send it to Fatima. However, he figured out what she'd done later and said she'd hear from him, right before Gabriel came up with the warning about Lucas. I have a feeling Luciano is going to prevent Mati doing her end of the "trap Brayan" scheme. I think it's too early for that nasty criminal to be out of the way.
Luciano talked to Romina about their each being each other's first love. But he said that it could not have been true love or she wouldn't have left him that way. Nor would he have moved on and fallen in love with Fatima if theirs had been the right kind.
They keep us guessing, don't they. I thought for a second Refrida's whiny "just sleep with me, nada más because my poor mommy was poisoned" might work. But JE brushed her right off.
Carmelo saw Lucas steal a cell phone, Brayan's test to see if he was "all in". He has one day before Carmelo outs him.
Sheesh. Refrida asks Doris to weasel information about JE and what's going on with him from Sebastian. That was quick. He bought her lunch and now Refrida thinks Seb and Doris are an item?
I got a kick out of the look on Refrida's face when she realized JE and Angelli might be in the same place.

ReplyDeleteDiana, thank you for your excellent recap, it helped me (pretty much) understand what was going on. I will have to finish watching later today, but it was an interesting chapter.
I am continually amazed at characters who appear to have been around a while, yet I have no idea who they are. Carmelo was a good example. I'm just not good at keeping characters straight.
The St Jude procession, etc., had me wondering what it was all about. I do remember my mom mentioning St Jude, patron saint for lost items and "lost causes", and looking at me.
Kat, Romina and Mati definitely look mom and daughter.
novelera, the only other time I have seen Gala Montes was in La mexicana y el güero where she was a blonde, and I think her hair was straight but I'm not sure. She was very definitely thinner and less curvy. Much less "interesting".

I've seen Gala Montes several times before and her hair seemed to be a version of what it is now. Pretty and long and straight. The curly hair might have been a wig?
I don't have much confidence in JE in just about anything but I have to say, at least he's been stalwart about not giving in to Rebeca.
I agree something will surely go wrong in Lucas and Mati's plan...I don't doubt Gabriel's genuine concern for Mati but he has very bad timing.

It was only yesterday I learned Carmelo's name. I don't believe it was spoken until then!!

ReplyDeleteThank you Diana for another spectacular recap! I paid half attention to the episode while trying to figure out what's going on at work and almost forgot to comment! LOL I think I might FINALLY have a fix for my IT issues though, so celebration is in order!!!
You captured the heart of the episode as always and I appreciate that even more than usual on days when I'm extra distracted because reading your recap tells me not only the content of what I may have miss but the mood of it, which is almost more important in novelas.
I still think Lucas is going to get himself in trouble and he's even stupider for letting Mati get involved and thus possibly in trouble herself. Her whole argument for helping was 'hey, I'm a gamer, I can do it!' Okay.... Dude, go to the police!!! This isn't going to go well at all.
I always wonder why Gabriel doesn't just take a good look at the sweet pretty young Sandy in front of him instead of worrying about the girl not interested in him. But then maybe he and Sandy are related???
Romina is pathetic.... I can't even get into this triangle storyline. It's so cliche and overdone. Luciano and Fatima had potential as a developing romance, as a star-crossed, constantly dealing with jealousy and scheming ex's duo, they're boring and annoying.
Rebeca's hair didn't look like a wig to me, but hair straightening technology has come a long way. It could be that Gala's real hair is that curly and they are just straightening it now. My niece's hair is super curly and when she straightens with the newest straighteners, it lays flat and smooth for days. Idk, not an expert on anything fashion or hair related. It's comfy clothes and a messy bun for me 24/7.

I appreciate your noting that Mati will now be embroiled in what will surely be Lucas' sticky stew in trying to catch Brayan. As you smartly noted, "Dude, go to the police!!! This isn't going to go well at all". Exactly!!
I think Sandy is already a bit smitted with Gabe and I have a feeling he is also going to "come to" and realize lovely Sandy is more of a match.
As I believe Romina's culpability for her part in the fraud has not been resolved, I fear she will be Luciano's unwelcome guest for some time to come. I wish Fatima had a bit more trust; Luciano has never given her a reason to doubt him.

VIVIR #43 Part 1
ReplyDeleteA repeat of several quick scenes including Cris and Rebeca’s discussion; Rebeca enters her room cursing maldita Angel who is going to the expo with her husband.
Lucas is getting ready for his not so excellent adventure. He packs his backpack and calls Mati.
Romina is sweeping with her broom (as opposed to riding it) when Luciano comes in sternly asking for Mati. It seems Gabriel has spilled every drop of tea. Luciano and Romina enter Mati’s room, catching her on the phone with Lucas! Luciano is raising his voice asking her if she wants to end up in jail! Romina looks on incredulously.
Angel is watching TV in her room as idiot JE is still outside, thoroughly soaked to the skin. He’s calling out to her, por favor, mi vida. She closes the drapes as he continues to bray. She seems to be weakening looking concerned as she folds her hands.
Lucas is innocent a now frantic Mati tells her parents. Romina takes her computer and Luciano her phone and other equipment as she begs in vain! Luciano shuts the door; Mati’s desperation is palpable as she raises her hands to her face in utter horror.
The next scene is barely discernible in the dark but we see the outline of several individuals scaling walls as we realize Brayan and his gang are on the move.
Cris goes into Rebeca’s room but it’s empty. Doris has already picked up Rebeca; three guesses where they are going?!
Renato and Jimena are talking on the phone with Fatima as Cris comes in worried about JE, she can’t reach him, Jimena and Renato exchange glances.
Monica and Misael argue about several things including Santiago.
There are a series of quick scenes with JE calling out to Angel as thunder howls and lightning strikes. She opens the drapes, then closes them. She finally opens the door and he starts pleading; she wants him to go but he is desperate.
Brayan and his gang are sporting masks. We see they make their way into the jewelry store. The robbery is in progress.
Mati unsuccessfully to retrieve some of her equipment.
Lupe and Marisa are like kids on vacation, enjoying their time away. It looks like a very small, dark room but they are thrilled.
Mati asks Javier for his cell phone but I think she doesn’t know Lucas’ number as it’s programmed into her phone (is that right?)
At the robbery we hear the sirens wail as the hoodlums make their escape. Lucas seems to be the only one without a mask which will surely come back to haunt him.
Finally, Angel comes out to JE with a blanket on her head, giving him one. He is barely coherent at this point, rain obviously having saturated his brain further. The weather outside was frightful but the fire in their room was so delightful! He removes his shirt, sits by the roaring fire, putting on a robe to get warm. He pledges his undying love and kisses ensue. JE pleads he will do anything to get Angel back but Angel says she wants him to be free. She reminisces how much she wanted to be happy by his side. He tells her she will always have his love. Forever! JE is coughing as Angel cradles him in her arms and tries to warm him up.
Luis is watching the game when Lupe calls. She natters on having no idea what has transpired with Lucas.

VIVIR #43 Part 2 of 2
ReplyDeleteLucas has made it home and calls Mati getting the voice mail. Mati is in bed sick with worry as Luciano comes in. She pretends to be asleep as he kisses her on the cheek and then leaves. He visits Javier telling him he wants to take the family picture off his profile before Fatima sees it (far too late buddy). When he tries to call Fatima, he sees she has had him blocked.
Rebeca has arrived at the hotel and (like a homing pigeon knowing just where to go), walks forward, opening the glass door to Angel’s room. She sees Angel and JE asleep on the floor wrapped in each other’s arms. I believe she pulls a gun out of her purse but mercifully, Doris arrives and hustles her out of the room, admonishing her.
The next morning, Romina talks with Luciano; he confronts her about changing his profile picture. He angrily accuses her of leaving without explaining anything to the kids; he emphasizes he feels nothing for her! Like a child, Romina juts her chin out and pushes a tray on the floor, shattering its contents, then stalks out.
Lucas talks to himself trying to figure out what went wrong with Mati. He looks at Ramiro’s picture, lamenting letting him and his parents down.
Lupe and Marisa spend time schmoozing with the wait staff then man the booth as Angel and Renato come up.
Fatima is dismayed JE stood in the rain to pressure Fatima into letting him in. She explains the obvious; Angel won’t take him back because she is married to his sister! JE will not take no for an answer.
Adolfo and Cris talk as Monica’s face appears behind the half open door, listening. He tells her that JE and Angel were so much in love and now, are separated. He tells her that history has repeated itself!! Viewerville nod our collective heads; we knew it!
JE and Fatima see Doris and Rebeca marching down the steps. JE steps forward as Rebeca tells him Angel told her he’d been with her last night! LIAR viewerville screams indignantly. Such a snake!!
Our attention is diverted as Renato stops Angel from tripping and has her in his arms! In full view of everyone, he takes full advantage, holding Angel close and kisses her! JE’s jaw drops and Rebeca stares, interest piqued.

Yes, crazy Refrida pulled a gun out of her purse when she saw the sleeping couple on the floor. Girl has now gone around the bend thinking she can just kill anyone she feels like eliminating . yikes. Doris came in and stopped her !
Note to self: lock your hotel room door.

Vivir. Excellent recap, Diana! You have outdone yourself with snarky comments this time: "not so excellent adventure;" "sweeping with her broom (as opposed to riding it);" "rain obviously having saturated his brain further;" "weather outside frightful but the fire delightful;" etc. Of course Lucas's and Mati's plan failed. I had hoped Mati would find a way to rescue it, but it looks as if Lucas is in big trouble. Maybe it will be a wake-up call for his idiot parents. JE and Angelli were mostly annoying. And of course Rebeca was stopped from murdering Angelli just in time. But I am glad Luciano finally got through to Romina where she stand with him (nowhere). We finally see the expo, and as I expected, ho hum. I really enjoyed seeing Renato and Angelli dancing together. I suspect he's a better catch than JE.
ReplyDeleteVivir. And btw, as of Friday, according to Wikipedia, Vivir hit 60 episodes in Mexico. Since they are a bit slow in posting, and generally do it 2 or 3 days at a time, I will wait to see if there are more--even though the the title of the episode is "Adios para siempre." (probably talking about a couple of characters instead of Viewerville).

Yes, Lucas is in for it now!! Mati is going to feel responsible for the fallout I'm sure. If only Lupe had whisked her son away to a safe haven. Alas...
I also think Renato is definitely "a better catch than JE".
Thank you for keeping us apprised of the episodes airing in Mexico. Logically, it does seem this could be wrapped up in another 17 episodes but I fear that is wishful thinking. I think you are exactly right in that "Adios para siempre" refers to the characters, not the ending. ☹

ReplyDeleteDiana, thank you for a detailed and great fun recap! I have not finished watching the show so I won't comment further on today's issues until later, but I do want to comment on two thngs.
First, Rebeca and Doris are looking better all the time! No, I'm not just supporting the bad girls because I also think that Fatima and Jimena and other "good" girls are looking better, too. Is it me or is it the telenovela?
Also about Sandra. She is a real, real cutie! But how old is she? When we first saw her I took her to be about 12 and thought her father (is her mother around?) should get someone to talk to her about how she dressed. When pervert Bruno went after her I was sure of it.
So how old is she? Old enough for Gabriel?
Hmmm... maybe my friends, who laugh when I tell them I watch telenovelas, are right :-)

Yes, they were stomping grapes. This was creeping Lupe and her friend out in an earlier scene. Is this still a thing in Mexico? It doesn't even produce wine according to my current research.
ReFrida must be related to Gibebra of Receta who put a hit on her sister.
I want to see Brayan and his thugs disappear.
Romina is still delusional about Luciano.

I think you've brought up a very valid point. I completely agree the bad girls are really looking fabulous. Doris is really quite beautiful. Beca has certainly come into her own with better hair, better makeup, better all the way around. Angel and Fatima are very attractive too as is Jimena. I don't want to leave out Elena, Lupe or Cris.
I believe Sandy is older than she looks. I would put her around 15, even 16. I think she will be perfect for Gabriel. I don't think her mother is alive...
I look forward to seeing what you thought of the episode once you've watched.

I didn’t realize Rebeca told JE that Angel told her they spent the night together. I bet the fool believes her. If all Angel’s friends, Fatima, Renato and Jimena, knew Rebeca was heading to the convention I really expected someone would call her and warn her!
Maybe Rebeca will set her sights on Renato. She does want everything her sister has.
I’m pretty sure they were stomping grapes. They were in that barrel like thing. So it was a legitimate slip. But Renato sure took advantage. And Angel wasn’t fighting him.
Thanks for turning out these on a daily basis. That’s a lot of work. I feel like watching the telenovelas is a part time job! I enjoy them but everything else piles up!

ReplyDeleteOK, 43rd reconciliation for Angel and what's-his-name. It was nice, but what JE really needed was a hot shower and some warm clothes. Bedclothes would do :-)
But not sitting around wet and coming down sick and muttering "Te amo" all the time. Yeah, I'm just a hopeless romantic.
Lucas and Mati don't know the first thing about planning an important operation. You have to plan every detail so nothing can go wrong, and then what to do when everything goes wrong.
But we knew it would go wrong even if they didn't.
Diana, at the conference there was a smallish vat or tub, with a couple stomping something, grapes I suppose. The small samples of wine being offered on a tray by the young woman were from such grapes. Later Renato and Angel were induced to stomp some and that's where Renato "stole" a kiss, though Angel didn't look too upset. JE did though.
Bad girls Refrida and Doris saw all this. What will Becky make of it? Rebeca is as nutty as a squirrel's cache, but I have to admit she's looking good, much better than she ever did in La mexicana y el güero. Maybe insanity suits her. But will she give Renato some sort of assist?
Doris is another bad girl, but she's a real sweetheart as well.
BTW, Diana, I'm sure you are closer to estimating Sandra's age than I was.
I just had to laugh at Monica listening at the door to Adolfo and Cristina. She had the door opened almost a foot and seemed ready to spend the rest of the day listening.
Why has Adolfo not tried for a divorce?

ReplyDeleteThanks once again, Diana. You were loaded with clever lines for this one... "as opposed to riding it". Romina gets on my last nerve. The actor just has this stupefied expression on her face as her go to. She looks that way when Luciano tells her ONCE AGAIN that he's not in love with her. It's the same expression she had when Bruno explained to her that her children would be killed if she didn't confess to...something. And, of course, she said she wasn't giving up on "her family". Luciano couldn't have been clearer. SHE LEFT THEM. Too bad he wasn't in the room when she hung up on Mati several times, saying she was too busy with her new, important job.
I got a kick out of Javier having to tell his father, Luciano, about Fatima having blocked him and that's why he couldn't get through.
Yes, grapes were stomped. I got a kick out of Lupe and the other woman. (I still can't keep this ENORMOUS cast straight in my mind. It's a one telenovela employment system for Mexico.) What was funny is that they didn't want the wine, because feet had been in it. Apparently they didn't know about the fermenting and bottling that goes on.
I felt like FF>> every time Angelli opened that sliding door, refused to let him in, and didn't just turn out the light and go to bed. There was zero chance she wouldn't eventually let him in.
Care to place a bet on whether JE runs over and socks Renato?

Romina drops the tray of dishes And walks away. Yes, this is a sure way back to Luciano's heart . Guys love his shifts and cleaning up a mess .

I saw Lupe and Marisa taking samples from the server's tray at the expo but no stomping tubs then or at the very end when the kiss was stolen :) Thanks for the info!

I think Angel will extract herself gracefully. A livid JE will fume but I don't think he is going to make a scene by punching Renato out. Only a guess; it will be fun to see what happens.

I also wouldn't have let him in! Ignore him and let the idiot give up and go back to HIS room and take a hot shower to warm up.
A little tid bit - It was Corazon Guerrero that Angel was watching on TV! :) I always try to figure out what novela the characters are watching in novelas, this one was easy.

Why did Lucas take off his mask? Because the storyline needs him to no doubt, but it makes no sense.

ReplyDeleteIf I'd been a customer at that hotel I would have been complaining to the main desk about a crazy guy disturbing the peace. Of course it was totally dry an hour or so later when Rebeca showed up. Who leaves their patio doors unlocked and open at night on the garden level! My CC says the friends name is Maritza, an easy name for me to remember as I have a sister in law with that name.

Angel seemed not to mind Renato's kiss, so I'm wondering if it was a planned promo for their products. ??? Anyway, if JE is ticked, good.
JE was in pants when Rebeca sneaked in, so I assume there was only cuddling. Last week JE was all "the baby is the most important." Yesterday, he said nada about the baby. He is definitely not a man with a plan.
It happened so fast, but I think Brayan pulled off Lucas's mask or it got hooked on something and yanked off. Poor boy.
Vivir. I checked Wikipedia's updated list of episodes today. They are now on 61, so it looks as if this messy novela could go on to 125 episodes (or not).

Howdy from the Alamo City CarayCaray Family. Here's my super-short recap of this morning's episodes:
*Slacker Berta spying on Gullible Gina, Gonzalo, Honorio. She gives Psycho Fina the latest developments about Gonzalo & Regina's upcoming wedding.
*Psycho Fina sporting those wigs LOL.
*Chema in the middle of somewhere is having memory lapses again. This will be a huge critical factor down the road.
*Alfonsina gives birth to a happy, healthy baby. Renata eye-googling at Alfonsina's baby awwww. In the meantime, we see GossipGirl console Karina, whose emotional & a mess for obvious reasons. We see Carlos & Matilde come face-to-face with Carlos' Buji Mommy Dearest.
*Chema & Spare Girl meet up at the usual Nightclub.
*Matias & Adriana enjoying themselves in San Felipe.
VIVIR #44 Part 1
ReplyDeleteTHE kiss between Angel and Renato turns into several and goes on and on-oh my!!! JE moves forward menacingly as Rebeca tries to hold him back. Doris and Fatima are there…Fatima taunts Doris a bit. She tells Rebeca that what is important is her family. Doris gives Fatima a shove on the way out.
Adolfo tells Monica to back off and Cris starts to leave them alone. All of a sudden, Gabriela and Sebastian rush in with new evidence in the fraud case. The perpetrator’s name is on this USB. Monica sits down as Adolfo keys in the information. It is Bruno Fonseca! Monica shakes her head but puckers her lips, exhaling in relief.
Bruno and Luciano antler bash; Bruno makes faces as Luciano seems to laugh at him and starts to walk away.
Angel and Renato are at Marisa and Lupe’s expo table. All of a sudden JE rushes up from behind and grabs Renato. Renato keeps his cool as Angel tries to intervene. JE whines, asking if last night had meant anything. Rebeca comes up and shuts JE down. Angel tells them to get their act together.
Monica seems to be recording the conversation. Gabriela (smartly) pipes up saying she doesn’t think Bruno was in this alone. Because a signature was required, there had to have been someone else involved, a family member. All eyes are on Monica. Por Dios she says to Adolfo, Misael is your son! She continues saying my son had nothing to do with it; he is absolutely innocent. If she had kept her large bass mouth shut, perhaps suspicions would not have been aroused, but she didn’t…
Meanwhile, Bruno’s phone rings.
Rebeca accuses Angel of being with her husband and gives JE the talk to the hand signal.
Agent Corral is at the jewelry store investigating the robbery…and Lucas is now suspect #1.
Misael is in a panic after Monica fills him in and tells him he is in imminent danger of being discovered.
Fatima leaves JE with his not so blushing bride. Rebeca is pouring on guilt, the baby, and the fact they are married (and miserable). Doris watches as she has a little nosh.
Renato is very concerned as he and a tearful Angel talk, He tells her she is exceptional; she admits JE is the love of her life. He caresses her hair and Angel honestly and emotionally says at this moment, I can’t.. He understands and is plying her with kindness and a sweet smile.
Carmelo is serving tables and talking with Luis. All of a sudden Agent Corral comes in with other officers asking for Lucas. She hands him papers, Luis’ eyes wide with shock. It is an arrest warrant for Lucas as the camera got pictures of him as he didn’t have his mask on.
Doris is still snacking as she talks with Rebeca, asking about the gun. Misael calls Rebeca but she ignores it.
Romina confronts Luciano about Mati and brings Fatima into it. He defends Fatima and walks on by. She smiles which means she has some sort of nefarious plan in mind.
Mati confronts Sebastian for talking to her father! He tries to justify what he’s done, saving her from jail but she is not to be deterred. She tells him he caused huge problems for her novio. He finally looks as though he is having second thoughts.
Angel, Renato, Lupe, and Marisa toast to success! Angel is happy for everyone at the cooperative. Angel is incredible Renato murmurs as she smiles and tilts her head. Uh oh, Lupe is going to call home.

VIVIR #44 Part 2 of 2
ReplyDeleteLupe calls home and a distraught Luis tells her the police were there.
Marisa and Lupe run into Doris on their way out. She is going to drive them home.
JE and Angel talk with potential clients and Rebeca gets right in there, sticking her hand to shake theirs. Angel sadly watches them.
Luis confronts Lucas when he walks into the restaurant. Lucas thinks Carmelo talked but Carmelo assures him he didn’t.
Bruno opens the door to Mata Hari, posing as Monica sporting sunglasses and a scarf tied under her chin. They. They get busy.
Adolfo confronts Misael.
Fatima rolls her suitcase down the hall as Rebeca confronts JE. Initially, she is calm. He cares about the baby but does not love her, he feels nothing for her. She takes a few steps back and purposely breaks a vase of flowers. Cris comes out and asks if she is OK. Rebeca lies through her teeth telling her Angel and JE are seeing each other in secret and they spent the night together! Cris highly (and rightly) doubts this . Rebeca cries her crocodile tears mewling that she is desperate especially as JE told her he doesn’t love her. To her credit, Cris merely says she will support Rebeca and her grandchild. After she leaves, Rebeca actually cries a few (seemingly) real tears as she flashes back seeing Angel asleep in JE’s arms on the floor of Angel’s room.
Renato and Angel are at a restaurant having a glass of wine enjoying each other’s company.
Finally home, Luis asks Lupe to sit down. He is blaming her for Lucas’ troubles, you are her mother! She has committed the unpardonable sin of “always working”!? You are his father she fires back. A hurtful and unnecessary comment from Luis.
Mati cannot reach Luas and laments everything that happened, asking for his forgiveness.
Luis, Lupe by his side, tells Lucas the police were asking for him. He stands up proclaiming he doesn’t want to end up like Ramiro. Lucas swears he doesn’t want to steal ever again. Lupita urges him to fight for his innocence. Luis says they will go to the police station tomorrow.
Renato asks for a chance. Angel kindly thanks him but she doesn’t want to hurt him, or anyone. He simply asks that she consider it.
Chris tells JE that she feels guilty for talking him into marrying Rebeca (kind of late isn’t it Cris??) She tells him that whatever decisions he makes from this point on, he will have her support.
Monica comes into her bedroom where Adolfo is reading. He turns on his side says goodnight and goes to sleep. She reaches into her jewelry box and opens a threatening letter from Mau. He tells her how cornered she must feel. He will be very close to her. He also knows she was with her lover!
In the last scene, Rebeca is in bed when we see her door opening. A shadowy figure wearing men’s shoes enters and starts to lean over her…

ReplyDeleteDiana, thanks again for another great recap. Today I actually watched it live. Ugh! No fast forwarding through the commercials, just muting them. No backing up to reread the subtitles. Where's the fun in this?
I guess midriffs really are a thing, at least in this novela. We were treated to Rebeca's today, but have yet to see Monica's :-)
Speaking of Monica, did she leave Bruno still breathing? And that note from Mauricio... did she just now find it, or has she had it awhile? If she just now found it, how did it get there? Old Mau is really good.
But why is Adolfo still with her? It's not like Misael is five years old and needs a father. Speaking of which, did Adolfo ever get a paternity test???
The conversation between Luis and Lupe was sad, but reflected life for poor families today, and perhaps always. Never enough money, never enough free time.
Renato has been slowly growing on me. I think Angel would be much better off with him than with JustEnnoying (sorry, sorry! best I could do :)
This novela is in many ways quite ridiculous, but it keeps drawing me in. I've been a fan of Doris for a while now, but even Rebeca is growing on me. Sure, she's psychopathic with murderous inclinations, but aside from that she's quite good-looking.

I'm so glad you asked about the note. I was under the impression Monica just found it. I'm sure he slithered in at some point and left it...
I don't think Adolfo has had a paternity test done on either Misael or JE. If I were a betting woman...
I sense a definite shift in the patio preferring Renato to "JustEnnoying"! :)

Vivir. You just keep getting better and better, Diana. "If she had kept her large bass mouth shut...;" "not so blushing bride;" "Mata Hari, posing as Monica..." Wonderful! There seemed to be a fair number of interventions by 3rd parties in this episode. And as usual there's a lot of back and forth, back and forth between characters: JE and Angelli, Rebeca and JE, Cris and Rebeca, etc., similar but not quite the same as previous encounters. Ho hum. So Angelli and Renato were still stomping grapes. I thought they had exited from the vat before they kissed, but evidently not. I'm glad that Gabriela figured out that Bruno was 1 of the embezzlers. But what will come of that? It's a little early in the series to resolve the embezzlement problem. Will he be killed, and then it will be even harder to catch Misael? It was pretty obvious that Lucas was going to be caught. Good luck at the police station! I'll bet that the shadowy character approaching Rebeca is Misael. And I had wondered if Mauricio was still around, but still making threats, I see.

I love to laugh and have to admit I did so quite loudly when I thought of the large mouth bass.
I too was happy Gabriela figured out Bruno was one of the guilty parties. Your question "what will come of that" is an excellent one. I agree that he is expendable and also that would make it "even harder to catch Misael".
Speaking of, I also think the shadow is Misael.
I am so happy Mau is bothering Monica, but hope he also has Rebeca and Misael clearly in his sights!
Also, thank you for your update on the number of episodes. Now I'm hoping for no more than 80?? :)

I do think Rebeca's last tears alone were real. Her taking JE away from Angel and living the rich lush life are only hollow pretend triumphs. I'm no psych, but I'm guessing little Frida always felt everybody liked Angel better and everybody still does -- for good reasons.
I vote that's Misael entering Rebeca's room. Second choice - Mauricio.

I am voting for mystery shoes to be Mau. Refrida has had a very bad day , so Mau slinking by to threaten her would be the cherry on top.
I am sure that Angel will end up with the galan JE ( Just Enough) , but Renato would probably be a much better choice . Always choose the guy who will give you unconditional love and support , and not the hothead who doubts you and then tries to win you back.

Ahhh, so you think the "mystery shoes" are Mau's! Well, I think it IS either Mau or Misael so your guess is as good as mine. :)
I share your feeling Angel will end up with "JE (Just Enough)" but in the interim, I hope that JE learns to respect and treasure the person that Angel is. His behavior toward her thus far has been reprehensible. She deserves so much better.

ReplyDeleteI'm a bit conflicted about dumb JE and Angel. After all the declarations of love, all the heartache and crying, it seems like they should be together by the end.
OTOH, JE has been a jerk (hmmm... I could have used that: JErk), a jerk almost from the beginning. Other novelas have had the second tier galán win in the end, or have had alternate endings. Sin tu mirada was one, I believe.
So there may be hope for Renato after all. But would that be a good thing? JErk and Angel have both declared that the other is the love of his/her life. I don't want to cheat them of that, but...
Maybe the best bet would be for Renato and maybe Jimena, somebody, to discover that they were just made for each other, but they were never totally sure until now.
Another thing I want to revisit, is the conversation between Luis and Lupe. What I said does apply often, but not always, depends on times and location.
But mostly true. But I have to admit that we did see Luis goofing off a couple of times to watch fútbol; maybe he's not quite doing his share, for what it's worth.

While they both made that declaration, Angel is the only one who has stood by it. Fiercely devoted, she forgave JErk after his detestable treatment on their HONEYMOON. I would be happy if Jimena ended up with Renato. Surely she won't stay married to Icky. It will only be a matter of time until he messes up again.

VIVIR SCHEDULE
ReplyDeleteHi everyone, just a gentle reminder there is no show this afternoon. It will be on as scheduled tomorrow, Friday and Monday.
However, Comcast shows VIVIR is not airing next Tuesday or Wednesday. It's strange as futbol is on, but not until later in the day so who knows what is behind Looneyvision's scheduling.

ReplyDeleteSo busy at work today I haven’t had a chance to read or watch yet, but since there was no new episode today I will have plenty of time to watch and comment tonight!
I don’t know the why’s of the decision making process but I can tell you from putting up daytime pages that it is pretty common for Uni to pre-empt daytime novelas due to fútbol even when the game is later in the day. Happened frequently during Corazón Guerrero and Vino el Amor. Nice of them to give you a break two days in a row! ;)

ReplyDeleteNot much time today, but I wanted to briefly check in and thank you for the splendid recap. I'm hosting book club this evening, with heavy snacks and lots of wine.
What drove me nuts was Bruno pretending to be on the phone with Fatima talking over their soon to be wonderful time together after Luciano had already discovered she was away for a couple of days. Later he told Romina it was over between he and Fatima. That was the reason for Romina's triumphant grin.
Also, Lucas flat out lied to his parents, saying he hadn't been involved in the crime.

Darcy, I'm not complaining about the pre-emptions although every delayed episode means the further into the summer this will go :(
