  2. MIRADA #6, Part 1

    La despedida (The Farewell)

Eloisa stands at Gabriela’s door breathing heavily in and out…we see Octavio walking down the hall bending down to pick up some clothes as he approaches the front door. He opens it but there is no one there; the folder of photos is on the floor. He picks it up and looks at them. “Amor” he calls to Gabriela who is in the shower. He thumbs through them and is not pleased but she calls the pictures “art” …They kiss and collapse on the bed.

A distraught Eloisa pulls in her driveway, managing to stumble out of the car. Octavio’s lies while they were in the shower reverberate through her head. She looks at a picture of her family on the wall and downs a shot. She wreaks havoc on the bed, ripping off the comforter and taking it down the laundry. She starts going through drawers, packing (what I assume) is Octavio’s clothes as she collapses on the bed. Octavio is now dressed for work but Gabriela’s tentacles are around him as he sits on the bed. But he is not out of the woods as after he leaves the building, he is told that Senora Gabriela was there! He is impactada. Octavio calls Gabriela: I’m not sure at what point he realizes Samuel took the picture but he definitely knows now.

Eloisa is soaking in a bath, looking totally out of it as she recalls telling Samuel how wonderful the pictures of Gabriela were. Octavio calls Eloisa’s mother who is making her way through the airport. She will take a taxi.

Pablo goes into the coroner’s office…

Octavio comes home, surreptitiously, walking carefully and attentive to his surroundings. He goes from room to room then sees the open bottle of liquor on the dining room table. He finds pillows strewn around the bedroom floor and clothes pulled out of the closet.

Octavio rushes into the bathroom thinking the worst as he moves toward Eloisa, lying in the tub, eyes closed. She then opens her eyes and chases him out.

At the morgue, we see the deceased’s wife cry. We see it is the same man who met with Pablo previously.

Next we see the man, very much alive, climb over a railing as a crowd gathers below. As we fear, he jumps to his death below. Pablo is attentive and kind but I can’t provide the dialogue. I can only make outa few words his widow utters including “scandal”, “lawyer”, “children”, oh and “Octavio Hildago!!

Eloisa is now dressed, sitting on the bed as she and Octavio talk. She says Samuel took the pictures of the amante of his father, whom he’s been seeing for two years. She hurls accusations at him and he finally looks a bit chastised. He seems to try and mount some sort of pathetic defense but I can’t follow.

Eloisa goes to the refrigerator and pours herself a glass of water. Antonia, Samuel and Matilde all arrive home together. They see her face and immediately know something is seriously amiss. They ask how she is and at that moment, Octavio comes out wheeling suitcases. They stare as he asks them to sit down. “Hijos”, he begins, telling them he and Eloisa are having problems. The children are upset. “There is another woman” Matilde says accusingly. Antonia tries to get her to stop; Octavio looks guilty as sin and Eloisa looks sad. Octavio decides to leave as Matilde spits out that he is mentirosa. Antonia, her father’s favorite, goes after him. Samuel repeats there is another woman as he tries to process. He hugs Eloisa.

  3. MIRADA #6, Part 2

Antonia follows Octavio outside saying “papa” with one big ole solitary tear running down her cheek. She asks if it is true as she looks on wild eyed; I’m not sure if he answers. He holds her face in his hands as she cries and he hugs her, leaving her with a kiss. She tries to compose herself. Antonia seems unsympathetic and after arguing with Samuel stamps off without so much as a single hug for her mother. Samuel reassures his mother that all is well. He asks her if she brought the pictures to Gabriela’s. Oh dear.

    Gabriela is venting to Karen.

Outcast Octavio checks into a hotel as we see Eloisa pulling down the covers as she lays on her bed, curling up on a pillow. Octavio checks out his luxurious suite. Eloisa is in bed as eventually we see light filter across the room. Samuel enters and pulls her covers up. She wakes up and he tells her she isn’t alone; she thanks him. She looks at her wedding ring, then takes it off, staring at it as her fingers play with it. She clenches her fist as she puts it in the bedside table drawer.

Renata (with some handsome young man in her bed) calls Pablo. I believe she tells him Eloisa is free. Pablo looks at a picture of Eloisa on the computer.

Eloisa is in the kitchen when her mother arrives. Matilde leaves, putting her snack bar on the table. Eloisa tells her mother Octavio has been having an affair for two years and mentions her dignity. Eloise walks through the house collecting laundry. It’s not easy Eloisa tells her mother. I understood very little but her mother seems like a beyotch. Did I get that right? Eloisa seems to physically crumple up.

Karen tells a beside himself Pablo she is sorry about the death. She walks over and puts her hand on his arm in sympathy. He does mention Octavio during their conversation. But then, he ends up talking about a marvelous, wonderful woman, the wife of Octavio. Karen tries hard not to show her shock but ends up walking away, shell shocked!

I know there was critical dialogue I missed; I feel I should have known more about the man who committed suicide but alas…Kindly fill in and/or correct what I got wrong. Your insights and observations are always appreciated.

Thank you, Diana, for your very fine work.

The story of the suicide. The man’s name was Ismael. He was the one who wanted to crash the wedding reception that Pablo wanted to cover. Ismael was a union organizer. Pablo finds out from his ex Teresa that in order to stop his launching a union at the company, the powers that be put Octavio in charge of changing his mind. Some years earlier, a woman at work accused Ismael of sexual harassment. Octavio weaponized the incident that was long forgotten and turned it into a scandal to use as a reason to make his life hell and fire him. Even Teresa was getting threats. His kids were told their father was a rapist. She feels like Octavio drove Ismael to kill himself. She saw Ismael a few days before he committed suicide. He seemed to be at peace and ready to put that experience behind him but now she thinks that he had already decided to kill himself. She is grateful to Pablo for wanting to let the world know Ismael’s story and clear his name. Later, Pablo tells Karen that he is going to publish Ismael’s story. He has the evidence and witnesses. He knows Octavio, who was responsible for it all, is powerful and influential. He knows that he himself has a conflict of interest because Octavio is the husband of the woman he has fallen in love with. That being said, he is dedicated to finding justice for Ismael and swears that he will never see the woman that he is in love with again in order to get it. Sure . . .

Loved when Eloísa told Octavio she knew something was up like him being in bed with his girl friend because he had burned 106 calories. Also, his heart rate was elevated. Ha! So there for having to monitor the rat’s health! Like the rat couldn’t take care of himself.

Eloísa cannot catch a break. Her mother thinks it is better to turn a blind eye to the whole cheating thing because that is what men do, Renata is always
the bossy drunk, Leticia seems to share too much with her hubby who is Octavio's best friend, her eldest daughter Antonia seems to be on daddy dearest’s side and now her new hope Pablo seems ready to sideline her permanently in his search for justice for somebody else.

I liked that Eloísa made the rat tell the kids he was moving out and that when he said they were not happy for years, she told him he was speaking for himself and not her.

Jarifa, the marvelously captured details you supplied, particularly on Ismael's background, were invaluable. How tragic and reprehensible that Octavio ruined a good man's reputation, tormenting Ismael and his family to the point Ismael no longer wanted to live.

I chuckled, shaking my head at Pablo being "...dedicated to finding justice for Ismael and swears that he will never see the woman that he is in love with again in order to get it. Sure . . ." Exactly! :)

And this gem that I hadn't understood" "...Eloísa told Octavio she knew something was up like him being in bed with his girl friend because he had burned 106 calories". Remind me never to get one of those monitors, talk about an invasion of privacy! Way TMI! LOL...

Eloisa's mother seems joyless; spreading her opinion as though it is gospel truth. Cheating "is what men do"? Well than, that explains and excuses everything. Blech.

Octavio saying he and Eloisa hadn't been happy for years was cruel and a lie. Eloisa should be happy she now has the opportunity to rid herself of the 180 pound albatross around her neck.

Thank you for all the marvelous dialogue that added so much!

I can't wait to see how quickly Pablo breaks his vow not to pursue Eloisa!!

Lots of melodrama! We finally found out what Carolina’s life was like between Ramiro offering her a “helping” hand that rainy night and now. How she achieved her big success! I thought we’d find out bit by bit, but we got the whole story in one go.

Diana – thank you so much for the wonderful recap! And Jarifa thank you for adding details! All this really helped.

I just got the basic gist of Ismael’s problem – not a sex offender, somehow done dirt by Octavio, but I didn’t get exactly how that all lined up. Now I know!

As usual, outstanding writing and acting in this episode. I feel like this is a telenovela for adults.

Eloisa’s mom was horrid. Following her from room to room, piling on the guilt and bad advice. And oh boy, she said being single like she (the mom) is is fine – the satisfaction of a job completed, a role fulfilled. But being single after a divorce means you’d be wandering the moors howling at the moon, a restless, hollow failure. Thanks, mom.

"But being single after a divorce means you’d be wandering the moors howling at the moon, a restless, hollow failure" was harrowing. Thank you for adding this important, very revealing line. Thanks Diana and Jarifa, that was a great read. I was unclear about Ismael so thanks for the details Jarifa.

I loved when Octavio said the separation would give them time to think and Eloisa said she didn’t need any time to think. I’m glad she tossed him out, but feel bad that she has to listen to her mother’s thoughts on this.

I can’t believe both her daughters walked out on Eloise. I hope Antonia soon finds out that her dad’s lover is the woman she admires so much. It would be hard to admire the person that broke up your parents marriage. I’m not sure why Matilde was mad at her. I thought she was going to live with her grandmother but since they didn’t leave together I could be wrong.

I wonder why Octavio went to a hotel and not to Gabriela’s. I wonder if that relationship will last, I don’t think it will.

I was surprised Carolina told Sebastian everything about her life. Manuel doesn’t know any of it. I can’t imagine a priest leaving the priesthood in a Mexican telenovela but those two really seem to love each other. I was also surprised that Sebastian turned on his mother. I know she deserved it but he was talking about forgiveness to her a couple of episodes ago!

I’m trying to figure out if Omar knows about his father and wants to be like him or if he’s afraid of him. He doesn’t seem to have any problem with a plan to ruin his girlfriend’s mother.

Tamara was awful to Christina. If Carlos has been her boyfriend for any length of time he should have seen this side of her.

  18. MIRADA #7, Part 1

    Caída libre (Free Fall)

Eloisa starts packing Octavio’s belongings with Leticia and Renata’s help. She gets a bit sentimental about Octavio’s personal effects, specifically his shoes and cologne. The friends end up with red wine as Eloisa seeks to cleanse herself of the past, putting pictures of Octavio and other now discarded mementos in the fire pit to burn into oblivion.

Octavio licks his wounds with Villalobos, seemingly rueing how the pictures his son took of Gabriela did him in. Octavio, the veins bulging in his neck, talks about his marriage, as well as how he feels about Eloisa vs. Gabriela. Villalobos mentions Eloisa as the mother of Octavio’s hijos.

Pablo is doing some research on Eloisa on his computer as he sits and waits at the reception desk at Octavio’s company. He sees Gabriela and waves to her. She is disconcerted learning Pablo is there to see her.

Gabriela calls Karen who (likely to try to forestall more of Gabriela’s mewling), starts to say something like Octavio returned to his wife. No, she interrupts her, Pablo is in the waiting room to see HER! Karen tells her Pablo is investigating Octavio. Karen goes to her desk and puts her hands on her face.

Gabriela agrees to see Pablo. She manages to muster up a smile she isn’t feeling. He stares purposefully at her, mentioning he saw her at the wedding. Octavio calls her and she leaves the office to talk in private. He tells her he left Eloisa as she puts her hand to her face unable to conceal her glee. Unbeknownst to him, Antonia is at his door, trying to listen to his conversation. However, I don’t think she is able to hear too clearly. Gabriela then returns to her unwanted meeting. Before he leaves, Pablo says something to Gabriela I gather is very important; kindly provide if you can.

Antonia knocks on her father’s door. I believe he admits to the affair with Gabriela and that he is happy. He leans forward and takes her hand but they are interrupted by Eloisa’s mother.

Eloisa and her friends are having sushi and a heart to heart. Renata seems to feel tequila will solve everything. They toast. As the wine flows, Renata’s words continue to flow…

Eloisa’s mother and Octavio have a frank discussion. I believe she feels family, especially children are the most important things. He almost seems a bit cowed as she exudes a certain power. She seems to order that he try and recoup his marriage, and in a very thinly veiled threatening manner.

There was a scene with Gabriela and Nic (was Villalobos there too?) but I couldn’t interpret.

Pablo is with Karen at the office. He makes an appointment with someone, I believe, to discuss Ismael. We see him smiling looking at the photo of Eloisa. He then texts Renata about Eloisa. Renata, (in a red scarf top that is one wrong move away from baring more than her soul), tells Eloisa Pablo is texting her about Eloisa! I’m not interested Eloisa avers. Leticia and Eloisa exchange a few thoughts I can’t provide. Pablo makes further inquiries into Eloisa.

  19. MIRADA #7, Part 2

Octavio and Gabriela are in bed (black sheets naturally) but instead of afterglow, there are sharp words. At least at first.

Antonia tells Tomas, her boyfriend that she doesn’t feel well. He solicitously asks her if she needs to see a doctor. We later see her looking up her father on the computer. Someone named Javier is also with them.

Gabriela brings her friend, (who proclaims herself to be an accomplished dancer with impressive credentials) to see her grandmother. We next see them in the bedroom with a bag full of burgers. Gabriela stares as her friend takes a huge bite and then spits it out into a napkin. Gabriela hesitates but then mimics the action. We must infer that her eating disorder is rapidly intensifying.

Nic and Gabriela are working at her apartment; he seems to be distracted by her “beauty”. He helps himself to whiskey. There is a knock on the door and Nic goes to answer it. It’s Octavio and Nic asks why he is there, seemingly genuinely confused. Then Octavio looks Gabriela up and down (rather lasciviously I thought). Nic seemed to get the picture and leaves. After Gabriela freezes Octavio with a withering look, Octavio follows Nic out. He lies through his teeth that there is nothing to him and Gabriela’s relationship. He declares he is her boss she is a subordinate. Nic (seemingly blessed with a good sense of intuition), gets in his car and drives off. After he is sure Nic is gone Octavio goes back in. He and Gabriela look at each other across the room and come together quickly undressing each other as he lifts her up and she wraps her legs around his waist.

Pablo and Karen high five; he then wraps her in a hug from which she quickly disengages herself. Pablo is typing several things into the computer including “Verdad” but nothing comes up. He then smiles seeing the pictures of the three amigas that Renata sent him…

Tonight’s episode exploded out of the gate and I was trailing far behind. This was just way over my head but I tried to capture what I could. Hopefully I got some of it right. Kindly share your comments, insights and additions which are truly appreciated.

Thank you, Diana. You got a lot more than you thought you did!

    Ismael's story
Karen gives Gabriela a heads up about Pablo coming to the company to talk about Ismael. "Ethically" she can only tell her that he has Octavio in his sites.

Pablo is forced to talk to Gabriela since Octavio is not available. She identifies herself as the legal face of the company since he isn't there. He needs to talk to Octavio to get testimony about Ismael. She says that Ismael was trying to black mail her boss. Pablo is only interested in clearing Ismael's name. He asks if she knows about the case. She says it happened before she was hired. He thinks that she doesn't have all of the information then about what happened and what irregularities occurred. She assures him she is up to date on the case and there were no irregularities. Octavio is a first class lawyer with integrity who acted within the law. Pablo needs Octavio's testimony because as of now, everything is pointing to them as trying to silence Ismael. She says if that means stopping him from making a scene at the wedding and avoiding a scandal that would be the only time. It was part of her job as the public relations director. He finds it interesting there were no other public relations people there. She admits she only came when she found out what Ismael had planned. Pablo asks who let her know that Ismael was coming since he thought he was he only one who supposedly knew. There is no answer because Octavio calls her. After the call, she tells him that she cannot help him with anything else and wishes him luck with his article. She advises him to take anything this Ismael says with a a grain of salt. Ismael committed an unforgivable act and is now trying to erase it. Pablo tells her that is going to be hard since Ismael threw himself off a bridge after he got their letter. Ismael had great hope in being able to clear his name. That is what his article is about.

Pablo's visit precipitates a meeting with Octavio, Nicolás (Villalobos' son) and Gabriela. Gabriel informs them that Pablo is writing an article saying that Villalobos' company and Villalobos himself were responsible tor Ismael's suicide. He wanted to talk to Octavio because he was the one who handled the case for Villalobos. Octavio tells them all to calm down and he will take care of it. Nicolás doesn't have any confidence in him since he got them into this mess to begin with. Octavio says that his father backed everything that he did. Nicolás informs him that his father is on vacation so he is in charge. He and Gabriela will decide what to do about Pablo over the weekend and let him know what they decide.

In the mean time, Pablo is able to track down Sofía, the woman who made the sexual harassment complaint against Ismael. They will meet on Monday.

Pablo brings Karen up to date on his article. He thinks that somebody working at the magazine must be colluding with somebody at he company because Gabriela knew that Ismael was going to be at the wedding.

Octavio crashes the "working session" about the "Ismael problem" at Gabriela's place. After Octavio looks her up and down, Nicolás gets the message and leaves. Octavio follow him out and says that he and Gabriela are only friends. He came there to warn him that he needs to be careful about working with her at her place because he is her boss. If she felt pressured by him, he could end up being accused of sexual harassment. Octavio is looking out for him as his and his father's lawyer.

Karen tells Pablo he has been approved for a six page article on Ismael's due in one month.

Jarifa, thank you for crystallizing so many details and doing so splendidly.

"Octavio says that his father backed everything that he did. Nicolás informs him that his father is on vacation so he is in charge". I didn't realize it was Villalobos' company and that "Octavio is looking out for him as his and his father's lawyer."

Loved "Octavio crashes the "working session" about the "Ismael problem" at Gabriela's place". At least Nicolas isn't a complete fool.

Pablo seems quite the intrepid lawyer, having lined up an interview with Sofia and being rightfully suspicious of things that simply don't add up.

Diana – thank you so much for this great and funny recap. I loved your comments about the red scarf and the black sheets. And thank you Jarifa for clarifying that whole Ismael investigation!

Did I understand that Gabriela had had an affair earlier with someone else at the company? Like maybe the dad who is on vacation? Or could it be the son who is now declaring himself in charge?

Karen is obviously the leaker. She seemed like a good egg. I wonder why she would do that, particularly if she has a thing for Pablo. Why sabotage his work? And isn’t a good investigative article a big benefit to their magazine?

It was interesting that Octavio’s infidelity made Letita nervous about her own marriage.

  25. HILOS

I’m still waffling about whether to keep watching this. We just found out what I wanted to know – what Carolina’s life was between that rainy night and her fashion house today.

But the actress is so melodramatic. I think she doesn’t realize that telenovelas have left that acting style behind (thank goodness). She loves to strike and hold a tragic pose, and then suffer. When she’s not in that mode, I think she’s great. I’m not enjoying the Cristina actress at all, but I love her roommates and the Tarot card lady and her son, and the new neighbor looks really fun.

I do wish they’d do better with the script. Tonight we had a repeat of Carlos saying please let me explain and Cristina saying no and him begging her to listen to him. Just say it, man! It would take just a few seconds. But then of course they couldn’t drag out this plotline.

I enjoyed the scene where Sebastian told off his mother. Boy, he got really mad!

It seems very odd that Carolina never told her husband about having had a child and having to pass it on to others for care and assistance. And it seems odd that Manuel never noticed the signs of her having gone through a pregnancy before. She must have a stretch mark here and there.

Here’s a completely trivial observation: Up until just recently Carolina has worn very low shows, which is rare in telenovelaland where all the women wear super high heels, even at home. But the other night Carolina had proper heels on. I wonder if she was having a problem with her feet and now it’s better.

I didn't catch any conversation about Gabriela's previous affair! Thank you for bringing that up. If she had been with Nic's father, I can imagine that Octavio would not take that well! Then of course there would be the huge ick factor as she has already slept with Nic...

"Karen is obviously the leaker" - yes!!! But why?? The sabotage is strange especially as she cares for him and would be bad for business (as you noted).

I hadn't understood Leticia's musings about her marriage. Hmmmm.

Thanks, Diana and Jarifa. How great it is to read an interesting summary of the episodes events and then have details filled in! I’m surprised the next day when I can’t recall everything until I read you recap, Diana, then it all comes back to me.

I agree that Karen let Gabriela know about Ismael and the wedding. I thought she probably did it without really thinking of Gabriela’s interest in all that. Especially since we learned she wasn’t there when it happened. But I could be very wrong.

Last night I was thinking of the friendship the three women have. I imagine only good friends would be there to help get rid of a cheating husband’s things!

I wondered why Gabriela was so surprised to have Octavio show up at her apartment. At the moment he has no home, I’m sure he saw Gabriela’s as a good alternative to a lonely hotel room. I wondered why Gabriela if they’ll last as a couple. I don’t think I’d like black sheets!

I don’t understand why Tony seems to want to keep Cristina and Carlos apart. It’s not that he wants Tamara to be with him, he doesn’t seem to like her very much. She is pretty unlikable. She must really put on a good act for Carolina.

I think Carolina’s “one true love” was Sebastian. She really keeps Manuel on a back burner. Which is perfect for Leo, who seems to want to destroy the marriage. Is Manuel too dense to realize Leo seems to be pushing Lorenzo on him. He also seems to think they’re just friends but I don’t think Carolina would agree with him even being friends with Lorena. And the smirk on Leo’s face when Manuel signed all those papers! I wonder what he signed away!

I loved Sebastian telling his mother off. She did send a young, pregnant girl out of their town into the unknown. And it involved a baby disappearing. That would be hard to forgive. Sebastian would have come home and married Carolina and had a whole different life. I wonder why his mother was so insistent that he become a priest.

Thank you for your kind words Liz.

"I agree that Karen let Gabriela know about Ismael and the wedding. I thought she probably did it without really thinking of Gabriela’s interest in all that". You are always so intuitive and believe you are exactly right here as well.

I'm so glad you mentioned the womens' close friendship. All so different but loyal, dedicated and caring...Love may come and go but these relationships are enduring...

"I’m sure he saw Gabriela’s as a good alternative to a lonely hotel room" had me smiling in agreement. Octavio is such a sneaky, smarmy liar, I can't wait until everything blows up...

Liz- I think but am not sure that Salvador’s mom wanted to give her son to God to atone for some past unspecified sin.

  34. MIRADA #8, Part 1

Frente al Espejo (In Front of the Mirror)

Evening has arrived and the three amigas are still celebrating and reminiscing. They recall a skydiving adventure and other escapades that have bound and cemented them in friendship. Samuel arrives but unfortunately sour Antonia is right behind him, already casting a shadow and darkening the mood. Antonia gives attitude, arms crossed mewling to Eloisa about her father. Eloisa’s friends don’t seem shocked but after she leaves, Eloisa goes after her. The upshot is that she blames Eloisa because Octavio cheated on her! Samuel walks up, angry, …He mentions Gabriela and her pornography shots. Antonia looks horrified and runs off. Mother and son hug.

Antonia runs into the bathroom and throws up. She takes out a pregnancy test, hesitates, and then in tears, puts it back in her bag.

Matilde is still sheltering in place at her grandmother Carmela’s house. Carmela comes in to check on her then calls Eloisa saying Matilde is welcome to stay there. Eloisa says SHE is Matilde’s mother. Matilde and Carmela discuss Octavio; she then tells her granddaughter that pursuing her dream of ballet is the most important. After she leaves, Matilde eyes her duffel bag, takes out a cellophane wrapped dessert and inhales it greedily, then looks guilty and alarmed. She goes into the bathroom and shuts the door. We don’t need sound effects to know what happens next.

Pablo introduces himself to Sofia, the woman who lodged the sexual harassment complaint against Ismael. She looks alarmed and says she is married with children and doesn’t want any problems. I believe he tells her Ismael is dead (?) We later see them sitting, she is crying but the conversation eluded me other than that she did talk about being manipulated. He gives her his card.

Samuel is paging through an art book when Renata surprises him. He stares at an image of a woman…

Eloisa enters a bedroom where Antonia is sleeping. “Hija” she begins, putting her hand on her daughter’s arm trying to comfort her. She murmurs to her daughter, kissing her shoulder as Antonia evaporates in tears. After Eloisa leaves, Antonia pulls out the test from under her pillow.

Samuel barges into Octavio’s office and chastises him with more than a few choice words.

Nicolas asks Gabriela if she has a minute. She starts to apologize about the other night but he stops her. He says things are complicated but I didn’t glean much other than I think he wants their relationship to just be professional.

  35. MIRADA #8, Part 2

Pablo and Eloisa meet up at Matilde’s academy, much to his delight. However, he then flashes back to telling Karen that no matter how he feels about Eloisa, he won’t pursue her. Resolutely, he manages to walk away, although they both feel the heat. She calls him back and he gulps as they stare face to face.

Antonia joins Octavio, Gabriela and Nicolas at a meeting. They start discussing Sofia but I can’t provide specifics…Afterwards, Gabriela chases Antonia down the hall apologizing but Antonia is not in the mood to hear about her and Octavio’s love. Antonia starts to feel ill, not unnoticed by Gabriela.

Pablo and Eloisa are having a bite, sitting outside. He shows her pictures (that Renata obviously sent him) of the three amigas. They talk about Antonia; she makes it clear how important her children are to her. They have a “moment” when he puts his hand on her arm as she stares at him.

Renata and Samuel look at art books. (Is it Renata in the pictures?), he with a beer and she with a shot. He guzzles it and takes another. The air is rife with sexual tension (at least from Samuel) as Renata toys with her tequila.

Eloisa leans in for a kiss but Pablo turns his head. Humiliated, she gets up and bolts as he runs after her trying to apologize. All of a sudden, he collapses, sliding down the side of the car next to his. He tells her to go to his car and get a medical kit. She does and then pulls out a hypodermic needle and injects it into his leg, just in time!

Antonia is at the doctor’s who performs an ultrasound. Does she say Antonia is two months along?

Eloisa helps Pablo home. She turns to leave but he stops her. He laments what happened in the restaurant, standing thisclose to her as they kiss (love the music playing during this scene). He tosses her bag on the couch as their ardor increases, kisses getting more intense and passionate. But then they get up and we next see her coming home, a huge smile across her face. He calls her and they make plans for the following evening. He sits down to work but is distracted.

The next day Eloisa proudly shows off her hickey to Renata and Leticia. Many happy, approving squeals follow. 😊

Pablo puts Karen at his desk, behind his computer.. they talk about Octavio and after he leaves, she calls someone…

In the last scene of the evening, Octavio sees sexy, new undergarments laid out on the bed (WHY is he even there I fume). He sees Eloisa on the phone looking in the mirror as she models one of her skimpy purchases. He looks incredulous and angry. Quite angry.

This is simmering to the boiling point! Kindly add what I missed and/or recorded incorrectly. Your astute input and always helpful, wry and witty comments are always appreciated. We have now concluded the first season with the second to commence tomorrow. I cannot wait to see what happens next!

Thank you, Diana, I enjoyed your recap. You are such a good writer.

    Ismael, continued
Pablo manages to find Sofía as she is leaving work. He explains what he is doing and she says she hasn't worked for Villalobos for 12 years now. She isn't interested in talking about Ismael. The reason she left the Villalobos company was because there was no way for her to advance. At her current company, she was able to rise through the ranks and is now a supervisor. Pablo asks why she didn't talk to Ismael any of the three times he tried to talk to her. She explains that she now has a husband, children, a job and a life. She doesn't want any problems She tells Pablo to tell Ismael to leave her alone. Pablo says he cannot since Ismael killed himself 4 days ago. Sofía informs Pablo that the Villalobos lawyer told her that if she didn't sign the document inculpating Ismael he was going to accuse her of lying ten years earlier.

Sofía explains what happened. There was a party at the end of the year at the company. Both she and Ismael drank a lot. They did a lot of dancing and laughing but it never went beyond that. She really liked him even though he was married but he wasn't interested in her. In retaliation, she went to human resources and filed a complaint of sexual harassment against him. She never went to the police. She was young and had no idea of the consequences of anything. She only wanted an apology from him. If he had done that, she never would have done anything. Pablo disagrees. It was ten years later when she verified that complaint for the Villalobos company. She says didn't see any way out. She is a nobody without a lawyer and without funds. She never thought they would fire him after all those years. Pablo explains that the real reason they fired him was because he wanted to start a union at the company. He would like to quote her in his article he is writing about the incident. He is trying to clear Ismael's name. She refuses saying nothing good would come of it for her. Pablo says maybe she would gain peace of mind. Also, she owes it to Ismael. He leaves her his business card if she changes her mind and does the right thing.

Octavio, Gabriela, NIcolás and Antonia meet to discuss the action to be taken in the Ismael situation. Octavio is back in control and wants them to take preventative actions before the article is published. Ismael was conveniently fired when the complaint was found in his file. Sofía was 25, he was 41. (they mentioned yesterday that Octavio is 55, his mother-in-law said he was pushing 60 today) Nico comments there was about 20 years between Ismael and Sofía and everyone squirms. This information was found while the union was trying to establish itself in the company and Ismael was leading the effort. After he was fired, the union said it was not fair. Nico finds it odd that they would fire the guy for something that happened 10 years previously. Could they have not dealt with the guy in private? Octavio says the real offender was Ismael when he started to drag Villalobos senior's name through the mud. Then Sofía verified her complaint. On a group call, Villalobos, from his yacht, gives Octavio's plan a big thumbs up and suggests they form a foundation for victims of sexual harassment!!! Nico has to admit they are in good hands with Octavio heading up the plan.

The article is ready to be published in hard and digital copy. The only thing that is missing is the title. Pablo tells Karen that the perfect title would be "Truth is what the mind is open to accepting" but they cannot use it because Octavio's ex told him that is what Octavio says all the time. She would never forgive him if they used it and that would not be a good thing. Pablo tells Karen she can come up with another title she likes. After he leaves, she decides to use the very title that he didn't want to use.

Too much throwing up in this episode.

Yes, it is Renata in the artsy books. I am glad she chose the tequila over Samuel.

Yes, Nico tells Gabriela that it is best that their relationship remain professional BUT he ever decides to leave his family's company, he will be coming to propose if marriage to her.

The doctor says if Antonia is 8 weeks or less pregnant, she can give her an abortion pill. Antonia is more like 12 weeks pregnant.

    Pablo is allergic to nuts.

Jarifa, I too "am glad (Renata) chose the tequila over Samuel" :) I'm hoping that line is never crossed.

Unlike Nico, Octavio and heaven knows who else, I fail to see Gabriela's charm (beyond the obvious of course).

    "Too much throwing up" indeed!!

    Thanks for the clarifications!

Jarifa, thank you so much for masterfully filling in all of the blanks. You are so generous with your time and effort. Your ability to capture so many details and express them so vividly is truly amazing.

Sofia is a prime example of how vindictive and cruel a retalitory, lying accusation can be. The fallout of a silly young woman refusing to be rejected, actually filing a claim was catastrophic!

His bad judgement regarding Gabriela aside, at least Nico questioned why Ismael couldn't have been handled quietly and internally.

"On a group call, Villalobos, from his yacht, gives Octavio's plan a big thumbs up and suggests they form a foundation for victims of sexual harassment!!! Nico has to admit they are in good hands with Octavio heading up the plan". My stomach roils...

Octavio's revenge will be swift and likely very painful.

Karen's role has been minimal but is increasingly toxic.

Can't wait til tomorrow (I say this every night but every night it's true) :)

Diana and Jarifa – boy, am I appreciating your recap and details! I had to miss some of this show tonight. In fact, I missed the scene where Pablo and Eloisa get romantic. Darn! But I’m very happy to hear about it.

Oh, peanuts! I thought maybe he’d been stung by a bee.

This was fun: When Pablo spots Eloise in the art gallery, a piano plays Für Elise.

So this is the end of the first season? From the ads I was getting the feeling we had to go to VIX to see season 2, so it’s a big relief that they’re going to broadcast it. One ad though showed too much, so it had tiny spoilers I didn't want to see.

I had to miss part of this. I did get to see that Lore finally managed to monetize her relationship with Manuel. I was wondering how she expected to get money rolling her way. Well, tonight, shoes and a purse!

I don’t understand how Carolyn and Manuel’s marriage has hit the rocks so quickly. They were so happy. She had a fashion show and a trip to Miami for a photo shoot. I’m guessing that all took place over a month. A marriage shouldn’t fall apart from just a month of being too busy.

Don’t you wonder if Carolyn will be back to her original love, Salvador, and if he will give up the priesthood to be with her? And then Lore could land Manuel and get the good life she’s hoping for. But as noted by a commentor before, priests don’t go leaving the priesthood in TNs.

"When Pablo spots Eloise in the art gallery, a piano plays Für Elise" - so glad you pointed that out!

This has been excellent. This is quality material and acting; an excellent argument for doing more "mini" TN versions.

Yes, the second season starts tonight. I already forget what the preview noted, but I'm sure things are going to fly fast and furious :)

Thanks Diana and Jarifa, another enjoyable recap. I could not figure out what had happened to Pablo when he seemed to recoil from an almost kiss and then spit food out. Then the injection gave me a clue. Thanks for filling in the details Jarifa. I also didn’t realize that photos were of Renata. Although I was busy hoping this would not be a romantic relationship! That sure would ruin a friendship! Right after I commented on the three friends!

I could not figure out the skydiving adventure. I actually thought they were scenes from the sequel to Papas de Convenience.

I can’t figure out Karen. She must want Pablo for herself. We knew that but apparently this will be an attempt to get him for herself. Because men always turn to the woman that ruined their relationship to find new love. Not.

I was surprised Octavio was in his house. Guess he’s going to decide Eloise should just weep for him. I do think she’s starting this relationship too soon. I think the kids will be upset. The girls already blame her and now they’ll see her in a relationship days after Octavio leaves. They’ll think she was also cheating!

Maggie, Í like your comment about Salvador’s mom wanting to give her son to God to atone for her sin. Growing up a lot of families were happy to see a son go into the priesthood. But the parents had other kids. I would have thought a typical mom of an only child would want the child close by, maybe married with kids. She wanted Sebastian in Rome!

Ramiro is something else. He threw his wife out because she didn’t want to sleep with whomever he sent her to. I wonder if Omar realizes this and thinks the same way. He gave me the creeps from day one, so nothing about him would surprise me.

Manuel has an innocence about him regarding Lorena. And because of that innocence he’s going to get caught by Carolina and not know how to lie his way out. At least he doesn’t have a physical relationship with her.

Tamara spells big trouble for Christina. Carlos needs to tell his mother how he feels and clear it with her so he doesn’t get Christina fired. I was worried about Sebastian’s mom making trouble for Carolina, but I guess that won’t happen now. Poor Sebastian will probably live with guilt over the last words he said to his mother.

"I can’t figure out Karen....Because men always turn to the woman that ruined their relationship to find new love. Not" was excellent and had me nodding away.

Your point in that it is too soon for Eloisa to start a relationship in the eyes of her daughters is right of course. I do think Pablo is exactly what she needs to heal her broken heart and self worth. I do wish it were better timing but with few precious episodes...

Renata and Samuel? No. Just no...:)

Maggie, yes, season 2 will be shown on Univision and now it looks like there is a FINAL season 3 that is going to be on ViX premium later this month. Not good. This is like one long commercial for ViX then? They pulled the same thing with "El extraño retorno de Diana Salazar" earlier this year. We are still waiting for season 3 to be shown on Univision.

Jarifa, thank you for the information on Mirada 3.

I'm so dismayed that we're going to have yet another delayed finale. Diana Salazar 3 has been held in the wings for so long now, I'm murky at best on many of the storyline details. The moral of this story does indeed seem to be a paid advertisement for VIX.

    What a shame.
