ReplyDeleteKara Para Ask – Black Money Love – Amor de Contrabando – Amor y Dinero Negro
Episode 133 #1 of 7
At the police station, Omer, Pelin, and Arda are walking down the stairs. Omer speculates why their new boss kept saying the same thing. Arda says he can’t figure out why they called them in for this. Pelin said they had expected him to be different than Ali. Arda asks if Omer has received any news about Fatih. Omer says no. Arda tells Omer not to worry, Husseyn will be fine. They will find him and put him in jail where he belongs. Omer tells them he is going to call Elif. His buddies move to give him some privacy.
Elif’s phone rings in Fatih’s car because Elif is incapacitated in the back seat. Fatih and Nico are in the front seat, Fatih driving. He asks Nico to pass him Elif’s phone. Fatih sees that it’s Omer and puts the phone down.
Omer gets the “not available” message. He texts her: So much food left you tired, right? You fell asleep. If you open your beautiful eyes, call me now. If I can’t be with you for at least a second, my life becomes hell, miss. By the way, still no news about Husseyn. I’ll be home in an hour. He smiles and sends the message.
Tayyar is listening to a news program on TV: Husseyn is suspected of being part of a money laundering scheme and has escaped from jail. Strangely, he was kidnapped while being taken from the hospital to jail during an armed incident.
Tayyar gets a message from Fatih: We’re getting closer to the cabin.
Tayyar: OK. Now you can tell Omer about the place now.
Omer’s phone rings. It’s Fatih: Brother-in-law, Tayar Dundar has your brother inside a cabin, hidden. He kidnapped him.
Omer: Where is the cabin?
Fatih tells him he will text the location and to hang up the telephone.
Omer walks over to Tolga, telling him they know where Husseyn is. He will send a text with the address and tells him to follow him immediately. OK? Make it quick.
Omer runs out the door and gets in his car, driving off quickly.
At the cabin, Elif is in the back seat. She looks half awake. We hear some shots (perhaps two) from inside the cabin. Then we see she is on the ground beside a car. Fatih runs out of the cabin and puts Elif’s father’s gun in her hand. Fatih raises the gun holding her hand. She looks completely out of it with a blank stare. Fatih/Elif shoots off more rounds, perhaps three. It’s a small gun, so it wouldn’t hold very many bullets.
Fatih tells her: Forgive me, I’m really sorry. I wish there was another way out. At least, you won’t remember anything.
She continues her blank stare.
Omer is driving fast. He calls Arda to be sure he has the address. Arda tells him they have it and are on their way.
Tayyar is enjoying a drink in his study. His phone rings. He gets a picture of Husseyn with a bullet hole in his forehead. Tayyar starts to smile: Well done, Fatih.
Back at the cabin, Fatih drags Elif from the ground by the car over to some abandoned equipment. He leaves her there. Then he gets a bright red gas can. He pours gas in front of where she is sitting, then puts her hand around the gas can handle (to get some prints) and then places it beside her. He then places the gun in her hand (more prints) and places it beside the gas can. Fatih lights a piece of cloth and drops it where he poured the gasoline. The gasoline flame quickly follows the path to the cabin, which now starts to burn.
Fatih: Well, good luck, then. (He turns and leaves.) Sister-in-law, this was the Story of the End of Husseyn Demir.
Fatih drives off, leaving Elif with her blank stare and the burning cabin.

Ipek is helping their witness go through mug shots. She stops at one: This is the man. This is. I wanted to know where he is. Svetlana hit me and then assaulted my mother.
We see the picture: It’s Fatih!!!
Ipek thinks hard about what to do next.
Omer drives up to the burning cabin. He looks at Elif with her blank stare, posed with the gas can and gun. He thinks for a bit and then runs to Elif.
Elif what are you doing here? Talk to me! What are you doing here? Is my brother is in there or not? Can you hear me? Is he there or not?
Omer sees the gas can and pistol. He looks at the burning cabin. He asks again if his brother is there, but Elif doesn’t (can’t) say anything. He keeps trying and finally runs to the cabin to find his brother.
Elif looks like she’s following him with her eyes, but she seems like a Stepford Wife! It’s very eerie.
Another car drives up, with Arda and Pelin. They try to figure out what has happened there. Pelin spots Elif. They run to her. She is non-responsive to them as well.
Another car drives up. Arda tells them to call the firemen. Someone might be trapped inside.
Then they hear from inside Omer calling out: Brother! Arda runs inside the burning cabin.
Meanwhile, Pelin tries to get Elif to respond. Just then, Pelin gets a call. It’s Ipek. Pelin says she can’t talk right now, but Ipek tells her she has really good news. The woman recognized the man she was looking for. Finally, we found the guy who trapped her.
Pelin tells her she can’t talk right now. [This is a shame because Ipek has useful information.]
Ipek wants to know why but Pelin doesn’t reply.
Ipek is trying to get important information about Fatih to Omer: He’s working for Tayyar. Omer is being deceived. She realizes no one is listening to her and thinks what she might do next.
At the cabin, Arda brings Omer out. Omer wants to go back in. Omer says he has to find his brother. Finally, they hear a siren. Perhaps it’s the firemen.
Arda says they will put out the fire and see if anyone is inside.
Omer keeps saying to himself: He could be there.
Arda says he doesn’t know what might be inside there. He tells Omer he needs to calm down.
Meanwhile, Pelin is requesting EMT, saying that Elif needs one now. She tells Elif that a doctor will come soon. Pelin talks to Elif, trying to get her to react.
A policeman asks if he is authorized to take the weapon. Pelin tells him to wait. The experts will be there soon.
Pelin asks Elif if she shot Husseyn: Did you set the fire? Did someone kill him?
Pelin is very frustrated. The firemen finally have the hoses working.
Omer and Arda are still outside, Omer not at all happy to be.
At the mansion, we see Asli and Nilufer trying to sleep in Asli’s bed. It’s a little crowded. Nilufer steals the covers. Asli is not happy! She sits up and tells her she can stay with the whole bed. Asli continues to complain that Nilufer wakes her all the time, but she doesn’t even open one eye. As she walks down the hall, she can hear Nedret talking: You’ll pay for it? Ah, that’s great. That news is very good. I’m glad. Listening to them, you’re completely sure they did the work well? We finally said goodbye to him. Bravo. And how did you do it? It’s OK. Don’t get angry. I’m not going to ask anything. I was asking to know if I have to take precautions. OK, fine, I won’t ask, just forget it. But I have to tell you one thing, when this gets out, I can’t leave Elif alone. I have to be with her because Omer will want to destroy everything around her. Everyone will know tonight? Very well.
Asli has heard all of this conversation. She walks in as Nedret hangs up the phone. Nedret is very startled: Asli, what are you doing there? You almost scared me to death! How could you come in here so silently, like a ghost or like you’re spying on me? Did you want to give me a heart attack?

Asli: It’s very late. Tell me, who were you talking with, Auntie?
Nedret: I was talking to a friend (uses amigo, which would mean a male friend in Spanish), your Majesty.
Asli: I suppose that friend knows something about Elif and Omer?
Nedret: Why do you say that? If I was in your place, I’d be worried about Elif. She still hasn’t arrived. Look, it’s very late. I don’t know why she still hasn’t arrived. I’ve been calling and she doesn’t answer. What’s the point of having a phone?
Asli is making lots of facial gymnastics listening to Nedret try to reassure Asli.
Nedret, continues: Omer is responsible, isn’t he? This is incredible. Didn’t your sister say that she would show some pride and stop running after that man? She could use some dignity.
No response from Asli.
Nedret, continues: I don’t want to keep talking. My head will explode. I’m going to sleep. Go get some rest.
Nedret leaves. She is obviously worried about what Asli may have heard.
Asli seems impactada.
Forensic techs are busy collecting evidence where Elif is sitting, still in a trance. We know that lots of that evidence has been planted by Fatih. Pelin watches with concern. The firefighters seem to be bringing the cabin under control.
Arda: Omer, we can take care of everything. You shouldn’t be here. It’s better if you leave. Trust us.
Omer doesn’t appear to have heard what Arda told him.
Pelin heads over to them.
Omer: I have to find out what the hell happened here.
Arda: Please, Omer, I’ll find out what happened here, and when I know, I’ll inform you. If you stay, all you’ll do is hinder the investigation. Please, Omer, go.
Pelin: The experts are finishing their examination of Elif. The only fingerprints on the gun are hers. Now they’re looking for gunpowder residue on her hands.
Arda: You’re implying that Elif might have shot at Husseyn.
Pelin: They’re just investigating. We know she attacked Husseyn before, and when we arrived, she was the only one here. She’s a suspect
Omer looks over at Elif, still sitting in a trance.
Omer: Has Elif said anything?
Pelin: She hasn’t said a word. Her behavior is very strange. I think she’s in shock. In that confusion, it’s impossible for her to give a statement. I asked them to send a doctor, but they haven’t arrived, so I think we should take her to a hospital.
Omer: Look, I need a day. Please give me that time to talk to Elif.
Pelin: I don’t understand. You’re thinking of taking Elif with you? You’re thinking of taking the only suspect we have?
Omer: You yourself said she wouldn’t be able to testify now. I need to talk to her calmly somewhere else. It’s the only option we have.
Pelin: It’s a crime, Omer. You know what’s going to happen. Getting involved in a cover-up will be absurd.
Omer: Look at her. An interrogation? Elif wouldn’t be able to handle it.
Pelin: Arda, tell Omer he wants to commit a crime, and not only put our careers in danger again, but also the investigation.
Omer: While Elif is in this condition, it’s better not to let anyone interrogate her. Are you with me?
Pelin and Arda look at one another.
Arda asks Omer if they will be going straight home. Omer indicates that is the case and Arda agrees.
Arda: I’ll keep you informed of every piece of news I receive. Go ahead and take her.
Pelin looks unconvinced and worried. After Omer walks off, she lights into Arda: Bravo. Good idea. I congratulate you. Elif is still in shock and Omer too disturbed. They could do anything, and you let them go? Arda, you’ve made a big mistake.

A forensic policeman tells Omer: It’s confirmed. She was the shooter.
Omer: Find out who or what she shot.
Forensic policeman tells his crew: We’re done here. Let’s check the house.
Omer: Elif, come with me, come.
Omer takes her to his car. He has to drag and carry her partly to get there. In the car, he tells her not to worry. She seems to understand him and nods in agreement.
After they drove off, one of the inspectors tells Arda the fire was clearly intentional: There’s gasoline everywhere. We also verified that the fire started from that tree. If you look closely, you can see the mark it left. The gasoline can was found near her and had her fingerprints on it, which were also on the gun. We found traces of gunpowder on her hands; she fired that gun.
(While he is talking, Pelin’s body language is anguished).
Arda: Have they found a body?
The forensic policeman answers: Not yet.
Arda: But how is it possible that they haven’t found anything yet? None of you saw anyone inside.
Forensic policeman: The place is a like hell. It’s still burning. When they manage to control the fire, will it be possible to go inside and investigate what happened. I’ll prepare a report about it later.
Arda: OK. Get back to work. There’s a lot to do. I’ll wait for the report. (to the group): Don’t leave anything unchecked. We’re going to find out if there are more fingerprints. Only then will we know if she was alone. Footprints, fingerprints, whatever.
Pelin: You hear? We were informed that Elif is the main suspect, and you let the two of them leave the place.
Arda: Wait until we find out if there’s a body. After that, we can discuss it. OK?
Pelin: Yes, I just hope you didn’t make the wrong decision. I hope so.
Arda: Give me patience.
At Tayyar’s mansion, Fatih is giving his report to his father: Exactly as you planned. Elif was there holding the gun in her hands when Omer arrived. Then the police and firefighters arrived. It’s the end of Husseyn. Now he writhes in hell and will burn there for all eternity.
Tayyar is very impactado.
Fatih: And Elif, well she will go directly to prison for murder.
Tayyar: OK, but tell me, there’s something I’m not understanding, Fatih. Why did you start a fire? It wasn’t part of our plan.
Fatih: But I didn’t start it, it was that maniac Elif.
Tayyar: Do you think I’m stupid? She was paralyzed. How could she cause a fire? It’s ridiculous.
Fatih: Why was she paralyzed? I shot Husseyn. I put the gun in her hands and left them face to face. Five minutes pass, and then I heard noises. Elif shouted Husseyn: You’re a dam* murderer. She was screaming, like a madwoman. She looked like a psychotic. She had completely transformed. I don’t know what you gave her, but she was out of her mind. And that’s when she took the gasoline. It was too late when I noticed. Everything was in flames.
Tayyar listened to this carefully and asked: I guess she didn’t see you, right?
Fatih: No one could see me, Dad. It’s over now. If I were you, I’d uncork the champagne.
Tayyar walks away, thinking about this. Fatih follows with his eyes, hoping he buys the story.
Omer drives up to the pink house. He goes to her side of the car and tells her they are home. He gives her a hand. She slowly gets out. Her holds her close and leads her to their front door and opens the door with the key. They walk up the stairs to the living room and he sets her on the sofa. He stands, looking around.
Omer: Do you know what happened? Can you tell me?
Elif sighs.
Omer: Your car’s outside. Do you remember how you got there? Who took you? Was it Husseyn?

Elif: I don’t know.
Omer: Elif, please, think about it. How did you get there? And the gun? Why did you have it?
She intakes breath sharply at this question. She stands up: Omer, please. Don’t pressure me. I can’t remember anything. I don’t recall if I was alone or if he was there. It’s all gone, erased completely from my brain. ‘
Omer looks up at her: Elif, make an effort. It’s important. Close your eyes and now, think about it. Do it.
FLASHBACK
Omer, Pelin and Arda are talking at the inaugural barbeque of the pink house to celebrate Arda and Pelin’s engagement. There is a bridal veil for Pelin.
Omer: You look so handsome I could die. Now all you need is the broom.
Pelin: I’m not a witch, I’m a girlfriend.
Elif gets flashbacks that appear back and forth with the present.
Omer is holding her face in his hands. He asks what she remembered.
Elif’s pitiful voice: We were so happy. You, me, Arda, and Pelin. We were happy. We had a wonderful night. Omer, how did this happen to me? How did this happen?
Omer holds her close and tells her it’s OK. She will remember. She just needs to recover. It’s OK.
But Omer’s face shows he is very worried.
Back at the smoldering cabin.
Pelin: Calm down. There you have it. The prosecutor is here.
Prosecutor: Good evening. What happened here?
Arda: We still don’t know, but it seems like a nightmare.
Prosecutor: What have you been able to find out?
Arda: The fire was intentional.
Prosecutor: I heard we have a suspect. Elif Denizer. One of the experts gave a statement.
Arda: Well, she was in shock.
Prosecutor: Where is she? I need to to talk to her. They already took her to the station?
Pelin keeps looking at Arda during this discussion to see what kind of an answer he will be able to come up with.
Arda: Well, we only know that there was a fire here and that it was intentional. That is to say, we still can’t confirm that there was a homicide. It’s just a theory. We haven’t even found a body, sir.
Prosecutor: What you’re telling me is just confusing me. Explain yourself better. I don’t have all night.
Arda: We haven’t found a body.
As if on cue, a forensic guy comes running up: We found the remains of a leg in there.
Prosecutor: I think we can now say that there was a homicide. Don’t you think so?
Pelin and Arda are very impactados.
At the pink house, Elif is sitting on the couch, also very impactada. Omer comes up the stairs with some food.
Omer: Cooking is very difficult! I think I was in Van the last time I cooked. It’s my mother’s soup. She prepares it with meat, but I only found chicken. You’ll feel better.
Omer encourages her to eat: Elif, you need to eat. It’ll do you good. (She finally accepts some soup.) It’s delicious, right? (No answer.) Well, if it didn’t taste good, I can bring you a tiramisu or some tea.

Elif: I don’t want to eat more.
Omer: Look at me, Signorina. Look me in the eyes, please. I feel devastated. My heart is full of sadness and fear. Once, you asked me when I felt pain, that I should share it with you, right? We’ve always tried to solve problems separately to protect each other. And that hurt our love. But it won’t be you and me anymore, now it will be us.
Omer reaches over to embrace her.
Omer: If we’re together, there won’t be anything in the world that can bring us down. We have to trust in that. Does that sound good?
Elif nods, sobbing.
Finally, she falls onto Omer’s shoulder. They embrace. He is obviously thinking hard.
Omer: Come, my love.
He carries her to the bed and lays her down. He holds her and tells her he needs her to let him help her: Don’t let your heart and your mind close. Let me be by your side. We must be together, my love, because if we’re not, we’ll be empty. Elif…
Omer goes to stand up, thinking she is asleep or wants to be alone, when Elif says: Don’t go.
She turns to him and they embrace face to face.
She smiles, though it is sort of a grimace, and Omer holds her very close.
Arda is driving Pelin. Neither looks very happy.
Pelin: Are you going to act like nothing happened? Just because Husseyn was a murderer doesn’t give us the right to cover for anyone. That would only make us as low as him.
Arda: I don’t recognize you anymore, Pelin. Omer is our soul brother and Elif is the woman he loves. Where does this obsession with wanting to send her straight to jail come from?
Pelin: Wait a minute, do you really think I’d like that for him? To prison? Why are you saying that?
Arda: You’re suggesting it.
Pelin: I can’t believe what you’re saying. You’re acting like an idiot. All I want is to protect Elif and Omer. How could you think I would want anything bad to happen to them? Do you really think I want to accuse her of murder? How could you even think that? Arda, they are both devastated. What if they make a mistake and want to flee the country? That would only make things worse. I’m just saying we have to stick together so we can find the truth together.
Arda: The truth is no more valuable than love. Since they met, they haven’t had a single minute of peace. Why don’t we let them break the rules for once? On one side, there’s the woman he loves, and on the other, his brother. Omer knows what he’s doing. He deserves to make his own decisions and be happy.
Pelin: I think what you’re thinking.
Arda: So, trust Omer. Let him talk to Elif. If he doesn’t solve the case in 24 hours, we’ll take care of him.
Pelin: Promise?
Arda: Of course, I promise.

Time passes. We see Omer sleeping.
DREAM:
Husseyn: Brother, brother, where are you?
Omer wakes: Brother?
Omer looks over and sees that Elif is no longer there.
He runs downstairs and calls her name several times.
He finds her out in their garden.
Omer: It’s freezing outside, Elif. Why don’t we go inside?
Elif: I’m very afraid. Who am I? What happened to me? What did I do? Even though I try, I can’t remember anything.
Omer: Everything’s going to be alright, my love. I’m here.
Elif: What did I do? I can’t remember anything. Please help me. You have to help me remember. Please.
Omer: It’s OK. You’re not alone, Elif. Come on, let’s go inside.
Elif: When will this nightmare end? What are we going to do?
Omer: Let me help you. Come on.
He leads her back inside.
He takes her to wash her face, which he does for her very lovingly. She keeps staring in the mirror. I’m thinking she must be having some memories of the previous night. Omer tells her to look him in the eyes as they are looking in the mirror. He tells her: We’re going to be together. That way, nothing will be stronger than us. OK? Now, I’m going to make you some tea. It’ll do you good. And if you want, we can talk. Calm down. We’ll work it out. Be calm.
Omer leaves her at the sink to go make tea. She looks very broken down and is having trouble breathing.
While making the tea, he also looks broken down. He strokes his hair off his brow. He tells himself: Be strong Omer. Be strong.
He pulls himself up and finishes the tea.
We see Fatih being driven by Nico to an urban high rise building. He gets out and tells Nico to stay in the car until he gets back.
Fatih: If you see anything you suspect, you’re going to call me.
Fatih gets out. They look to be downtown at a hotel or office building. Fatih walks inside, wearing a baseball cap.
Tayyar is in his robe pouring some tea or coffee. There is knock on the door. Tayyar says to enter.
It’s Mumtaz.
Tayyar: Tell me what my son is doing. Is there anything new? Did they see him going into the hotel?
Mumtaz: One of my men is following him.
Tayyar: Who is with him now? Why was he there?
Mumtaz: We haven’t found out, yet sir. But we’ll know soon.
Tayyar, finger wagging like crazy: Look, before you knock on my door, you should come with all the information I’m asking for. Why is he at that hotel and who was with him? Find out! That dam fire thing had me worried. You know the relationship between my son and me is constantly changing. Don’t just stand there like an idiot. Get out of here and find out what I want.
Mumtaz nods and leaves.
Tayyar is very impactado.

ReplyDeleteThanks Babachita!
Why did Fatih start the fire? That's the $34,000 question and Tayyar asked it, but he didn't get an honest answer. What is the truth? I think Huso is alive and well! That's the only reason I can think of for the fire, so no one could see/identify the corpse or lack thereof. And they a part of leg? I wonder whose leg? Or did Huso have to chop his leg off? Is that what the axe was for?
Did Asli hear enough to bury Nedret???
I found the whole investigation frustrating. Elif is frozen solid and unresponsive, and they don't get her medical attention? A drug test might have been good for her! Sure, shock is a reasonable explanation, but they needed a medical expert. And then they just talk about how she was the shooter throughout the episode without even knowing if anyone got shot. Arda was right at the end, they didn't even know what happened yet, and they were already drawing conclusions.
kpa
ReplyDeleteDarcy, I agree that Huso must still be alive. Tayyar realized right away that the fire was unnecessary. He probably also doubted Fatih’s description of wild Elif. Not only was she drugged but he’s known her for years.
I was also hoping Elif would get a drug test.
The axe was scary when we first saw it! Here I jumped to the conclusion that a body part would be easy to find with Tayyar’s side-line, thinking the leg was part of Tayyar’s plan. Not being Tayyar’s plan, it will be interesting to see where the leg came from. It could be Huso’s. Can they do DNA on it?
I wondered if the drug might backfire in that Elif’s sketchy memories might still provide leads.
I’m so ready for Nedret to go down!!!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Babachita.
Yes, the axe and the leg. Fatih is a real schemer. A sharp criminal mind.
Maybe Tayyar can buy wild Elif. Didn’t she show up at his house ready to kill him? It was with the gun they are using to “kill 3 birds with one stone.”
The drug test might not work because Tayyar wanted something untraceable. But who knows… then Tayyar would have to kill his doctor for screwing up! Who would do his next kidney transplant?
I can’t wait for Nedret to go down either. Clarification: in the Spanish Nedret said “amigo”, but in the Turkish she just said “arkadaşim”, “my friend”. Turkish doesn’t have gender. She would have had to use an additional word to denote male or female. And Asli didn’t ask if it was a man or woman. But now a seed has been planted. We’ll see if it grows.
My recap will be very late Sat or early Sunday.

ReplyDelete#134 part 1
Fatih enters the hotel and goes to the front desk. He asks, no one has bothered my guest, right? No sir, the desk clerk says, they just wanted something to drink and ordered it from room service. [I don’t know why the Spanish said painkillers.] Fatih is ticked. From now on, nobody will send food or drink without talking to me, without my permission. Understood?
Fatih goes up to the room. Some room! He looks around and calls out—where are you? Sleeping? No answer. He goes into the bedroom. There’s a packet of painkillers and a glass of wine. He calls out, alcohol and painkillers are a bad idea. Where are you? He walks to the bathroom and opens the bath curtains. It’s Nilufer.
I thought you left, Fatih says. Where could I go, she replies, I’m your prisoner, remember? How can I forget, he whispers, how can I forget you? They kiss. There’s a tub full of suds. He pulls her into the tub and tears off his shirt. She laughs.
Omer goes to the bathroom door and knocks. Elif? Elif, it’s ready. No answer. He knocks again. He’s alarmed. Elif? The door is locked. He pries the door open with a metal spatula from the kitchen. There is Elif crouched on the floor of the running shower, sobbing. Omer rushes to her and lifts her up. She holds onto him. Forgive me, she cries, I can’t go on living if your brother died. Please forgive me. I was furious with him because at some point, I loved him. I’m so sorry. They stand there together, soaked.
Arda and Pelin arrive at the squad room. Pelo says the experts are still working at the site. Ipek enters and asks, where have you been? Talking to the DA, Pelo answers, we had to give him a lot of explanations. Ipek asks, have you found anything else? No. Nothing new for now. Ipek says she has something new to tell. Fatih Dundar is fooling Omer. He’s working for his father. Funda recognized someone in the photos. It was Fatih. He’s connected to Svetlana’s kidnapping.
Nilu and Fatih are in bed. I miss you so much, she says. He suggests, let’s rent a house outside the city so we can see each other whenever you want. She asks, you’ll send your father to prison, right? Until that happens, this place is perfect for us. After that, you and I will have a beautiful house and be a family. He says he has a good reason for renting a house outside the city. You’ll see. She wants to know the reason. First, you say we can’t see each other, then you tell me we’ll meet here, now you want to rent a house. Omer said this wouldn’t take long. If it is, tell me.
Fatih says things have changed. Forget what Omer said. I have other, better plans in my head. Nilu asks, you’re not going to help Omer anymore? You’re supposed to work together. I don’t know what you have in mind, but I have a right to know because your decisions affect both of us. Fatih explains, if my father is arrested now, I wouldn’t be able to receive anything from him because I’m not legally his son. Understand? I still have to work that out. Once that’s settled, I don’t care what happens to him. Nilu is not pleased. She gets out of bed.
Elif and Omer are in dry clothes. Omer blow dries Elif’s hair and helps her into a sweater. He covers her in the bed. Time is running out, she says, I thought I’d remember something. But it seems impossible. It’s almost dawn, Omer tells her, try to sleep a little.
Omer calls Fatih. No answer.
Fatih leaves the hotel and finds his henchie who’s name I’ve forgotten, sleeping in the car. He explains he hasn’t slept in 3 days. Fatih’s phone was in the car. The guy says the komiser has been calling. Fatih is bothered and wonders what he wants at this hour. He says he won’t answer. The guy asks what if the komiser breaks the agreement? Fatih says he might not be a cop for much longer.

Mumtaz comes to Tayyar. He’s got answers for his boss. Fatih went to the hotel to meet his wife. Tayyar blows his top. What an idiot! That bastard has been deceiving me all this time! Tap his phone and have a man follow him 24/7! I want to know everything he does!
Back to the station. Ipek says, we know the fire was intentional. Elif is the only suspect and witness. And worse, she doesn’t remember anything. Arda asks about the forensic report. Ipek says the investigation at the crime scene is complete. I have the report here. The body that was found was charred. Only the ankle was suitable for tissue sampling. They sent the bones and pieces of skin. We will find out tomorrow if this is Huseyin Abi.
Arda hopes that body isn’t Huseyin Abi. You’ll see, it’s someone else! Inshallah, Pelo says, even if it’s not abi, it doesn’t change the seriousness of the situation. There’s a body and the only suspect is Elif. Omer comes through the door and hears this. He asks, there was a body? Pelo says yes. Arda says it hasn’t been identified yet.
Tolga asks, where is Elif? Charges will be filed against her, she’s the prime suspect. The evidence is incriminating. Everyone looks at Tolga. What, he says, I’m just doing my job. She’s the only suspect and had a very good motive to kill. Besides, not long ago, she attacked Huseyin when he was in prison. They found traces of gasoline on her clothes. She had a gun in her hand and fired it.
Arda asks him, and have they found a bullet in the corpse? Omer tells Tolga that Elif is afraid of fire, she always has been. She can barely light a match to cook and you’re saying she burned a person. Impossible. This looks more like a professional killer. It’s a way of destroying evidence. Tolga counters, we know what happens when a person loses control. And what you’re telling me doesn’t prove she didn’t do it. Your emotions are getting involved.
Omer admits he’s emotionally involved. I’m a human being. Pelo stops it from escalating. She asks Tolga to come with her to deliver the report. Omer says he wasn’t able to find Fatih. I don’t know if he’s still alive. If Tayyar found out he’s working with me, it’s serious. Ipek tells Omer he’s wrong. Fatih has been working for Tayyar. Omer is stunned.
Fatih arrives at what looks like an isolated storage building.
Omer looks at the evidence board. He says it’s obvious that something fishy is going on. Am I the only one who senses it? Fatih told me to go there [the crime scene.] And I think Fatih called Elif to go there, too. If he called Elif, it means this was a trap. Arda says that sounds logical. Fatih is being sought, he says. The entire Istanbul police force is on alert. He will turn up.
Arda asks if Elif is feeling better. She’s in bad shape, Omer replies, very bad. She’s in shock. Arda asks if she remembers anything that might help them. Omer says she doesn’t remember what she was doing or how she got there. Her car was outside the house, she didn’t drive it. I ask her questions and she cries. I can’t bear to see her like this. Arda suggests that he can talk to Elif. Omer thinks that’s a good idea but wait until she’s feeling a little bit better.
Omer wants Elif to have a blood test. It’s possible since we found her like that because she was drugged. Arda says he will send a nurse to the house to do it. Arda asks Omer, what are you going to tell your family? Shouldn’t you tell them something? Omer sighs, I still have hope. Tayyar wanted to kill him. He could have done it with a gunshot. But this fire confuses me. It seems like they wanted to distract us. Or maybe that’s what I want to believe. Let’s wait for the results and then we’ll talk.

Omer is back home, sitting in the bed next to Elif, watching her sleep. He lightly touches her hair. She wakes. Omer, tell me what I remember happening last night isn’t true… that it was a nightmare. She sits up—but if it wasn’t, I don’t know what’s going to happen to our lives. I’m scared. The only thing I can do now is try to remember what happened. I’m going to ask you to tell me the truth. Do you know if anyone died last night?
Omer has a grim look and doesn’t answer. Elif gasps. Huseyin died? Omer, answer me. We don’t know yet, Omer says, we don’t know. Elif jumps out of bed and opens a window. Omer tells her they can talk about this later. Elif says she’s ready. Go ahead and ask me. He starts by asking about the gun. It was in the safe. Did you take it out? Yes, she replies, I thought it was better to have it on hand. He asks why. To protect me and my sisters, she answers. He asks, was it in your bag? No, next to my bed, she says. There’s an answer, Omer tells her, and we’re going to find it because it’s there in your mind. He hugs her.
Fatih is with Tayyar, who’s wondering why Elif hasn’t been arrested yet. And no one has told him that Huso is dead. Fatih says that Omer has Elif and he’s interrogating her somewhere. Let the hero cop do his work. If the drug you gave Elif is so effective that she won’t remember anything, we’ll be fine. I understand about Elif, Tayyar replies, but why is no one mentioning that Huseyin died?
Because they are in the middle of investigating, Fatih says. They are waiting for the DNA results and the forensic report. He was reduced to ashes. They have to verify. It’s your damn fault, Tayyar points out, because of your stupidity! He was reduced to ashes! All you had to do was shoot him and have Elif hold the gun! Simple. But now we have a fire. I explained she went crazy, Fatih reminds him, I couldn’t stop her.
Tayyar is not convinced. That’s why I’m asking you to repeat it over and over again. Fatih says, listen, Dad, you’re not in front of one of your useless puppets. If you’re going to trust me, do it completely. If not, let me go. I might go to Omer and tell him that my father killed his brother and then blamed his fiancée. Well, what should I do? You decide. What side should I be on? Tayyar growls, if you threaten me again, you’ll join Huseyin. My patience has limits. Be careful.
Arda and Pelin nervously wait for the DNA result. They try to think of reasons why this can’t be Huso. Arda says maybe they faked his death and they are framing Elif. [bingo!] Pelo hopes with all her heart that he is right. But she wonders why Tayyar would get involved with something like that. He could have made Huso disappear without a problem. The fire was too conspicuous. Why would he do this? And why would he want to help Huso? He was no longer of any use to him. Just a liability.
The doctor comes out and asks them to come to his office to discuss the results. Arda is impatient. He demands to know now. Pelo tells him to calm down. She tells the doc that this is difficult for them. Whose body is it? The doc says, I’m sorry, I don’t have good news for you. Arda and Pelo are devastated.
Elif gets a blood test. Omer calls Nilufer. He asks, where is Fatih? Am I wrong or didn’t you tell me not to see him, she replies. No time for games, he says, tell me where he is. She admits they were together last night, but she has no idea where he is now. He hasn’t even called, she says. All I can do is wait. Let me know when he calls, Omer says, but don’t tell him I’m looking for him. It’s very important that you don’t. Nilu asks, what’s going on? Is your agreement with him over? All Omer says is to let him know when Fatih calls her.

Asli comes to see Nilu. She’s ticked. Where were you? I couldn’t sleep last night, Nilu replies, so I stayed here. Asli tells her not to lie. You didn’t stay here last night. You arrived this morning. Nilu admits she was with her husband. Are you crazy, Asli asks, why did you do that? Nilu says she missed him, she wanted to be with him. She has the right to do it. Asli tells her to get ready, they have a meeting to attend. Auntie has already left.
Tolga enters the squad room. He asks Ipek where the others are. They are working elsewhere right now, she says. Tolga has news about Nedret. Her husband was from Malatya. He came from a very wealthy family, and from what I heard, he was a troubled man. Nedret married him when she was 16. He suffered a stroke when he was 40. After that, he was bedridden. So she took over the business. Things got worse and they were about to lose everything. But then, as if by magic, in the middle of the economic crisis, they suddenly started doing business with all of Eastern Anatolia, even expanding westward.
Ipek asks, so what are we to take from this? What does this have to do with anything? You’re not listening, Tolga says. What happens next is interesting. In the 90s, Nedret and her brother, Ahmet Denizer, got into the construction business. A company was established and this company operated until 2012, until Nedret acquired all the shares of the company and became sole owner. A couple of months ago she became a shareholder in Denizer Holding. She’s one of the richest people in Eastern Anatolia, but she didn’t even finish primary school.
Perhaps she’s self-taught, Ipek says. Tolga says there’s something he doesn’t understand. Why would someone in charge of a big company still be living in Elif’s house? Shouldn’t she be at the helm of her business? She came temporarily to help her nieces. But why hasn’t she left yet? What is she waiting for? Isn’t that interesting? Ipek doesn’t think it means anything. Maybe she’s doing things online.
Tolga asks, you don’t like this information? Ipek says, it’s not important to the investigation. Why did you think it was important? How did you research this? He notes that they are also working this very important homicide case. I did what I could, he says, I’m only human. Ipek says everything we do is important. You’re going to look for something more relevant. Don’t just look on the internet.
Meeting at Denizer Holding. Filiz is there to personally prepare Nedret’s coffee. Levent enters the meeting room with papers. He questions Nedret. What is this? Did Elif approve this? Nedret answers, Levent, I don’t have to ask her permission to make these kinds of decisions. Asli and I talked and I decided to do it. What’s the problem? I’m the manager of this company, he replies, and you can’t fire my employee without my knowledge.
Nedret says, oh, she must have been an efficient employee. Levent says she was a very good employee. If I had known, I wouldn’t have done it, Nedret answers, but what is done, is done. I’m a little offended, Levent. When did you decide to start questioning my decisions? Don’t you remember, we are a very good team, or am I mistaken? Ha, Levent is forced to back down under that veiled threat.
Mert comes to Demet and tells her Nedret wants to see her. What did I do, Demet asks, Levent Bey complained about me? Demet thinks. I know why she’s calling me. It must be about my father. She hates him, me, my family. Let’s see what she wants, Mert says, let’s go. I’ll go with you. He takes her hand.

ReplyDelete#134 part 5
Elmer are at breakfast. Omer tries to get her to eat. She asks if they have the DNA results yet. Omer says no. Elif says, I’m going crazy. I’ve experiences all kinds of things, but I’d never forget one night. How could this happen? He says, let’s start at the beginning. We were eating with Arda and Pelin, then we had to leave. Do you remember that? I remember, she says. We see a quick flashback to Elif saying goodbye to everyone.
Elif continues, then I remember I started clearing the table. Omer asks, and then? Then I think I went outside, Elif recalls. Another flashback. I remember getting a message on my phone, she says, I don’t remember who it was from. He asks, where’s your phone? He goes to get it and looks through the messages. Nothing important.
Demet and Mert enter the conference room. Nedret tells Mert to wait outside and close the door. She tells Demet, it’s only been a few days into the month, but we’ve never been unfair to our employees [she left out: until now.] She hands Demet an envelope. Here’s what’s due for this month. You’ve been a very good employee. Thank you, may God bless your work. Demet asks, are you firing me?
Yes, that’s right, Nedret says with a sinister laugh, or did you think we were going to promote you? If I had a family like yours, I would have submitted my resignation. In fact, I would never have worked for this company. What did I do wrong, Demet asks, I was never late, and sometimes I worked into the night.
Nedret shuts her down. Your filthy father murdered my brother. Your shameless family ruined mine. Don’t forget what I’m telling you. From now on, I want the Demir family far away from me and my family. Good day. Demet is on the verge of crying. She answers, I loved you all very much, and my job, too. She runs out.
Filiz asks Nedret, was this necessary, Nedret Anne? What was the girl’s fault? Nedret says, don’t feel sorry for her. You don’t know what those kinds of people are capable of. Never turn your back on them because at the first moment, they will destroy you. Never allow that kind to get close to you. Don’t forget it. This is a mother’s advice to you. Filiz looks sad.
Pelin calls Ipek with the DNA results. Of course, Ipek is upset. Tolga comes back with more information. Nedret was investigating orphanages for years. She was looking for a girl. Her name was Filiz Cakir. She found her in a dormitory in Tokat and she’s still with her. She never lets her out of sight. I suppose you won’t say I found that on the internet.
Ipek has no reaction to Tolga. She’s still processing the news about Huso. Hello, Ipek? Are you there? He asks, are you okay? What happened? It was confirmed, she replies, it was Huseyin. The DNA came back.
Demet gathers her things from her desk. Mert says, there must be a solution. I’m going to talk to Elif. This is ridiculous. No it’s not, Demet says, my dad is a criminal and I’m going to live with that shame for the rest of my life. I’ll never be at peace. [look who she’s talking too.] It’s better to be with people who don’t know. He asks, will you also stay away from me? He stops her from leaving. Demet, I’m in love with you. She gives him a kiss. Goodbye, Mert. She leaves.
And we are out.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Dondi! We are rolling along with this convoluted plot!
I feel so bad for Demet. Losing her Dad then her job. Did she do something to Nedret or is Nedret just getting rid of potential spies? Filiz thought it was harsh, the first sign (I think) of her not following Nedret’s lead. Where will Demet go? I hope Mert persists.
Interesting about Nedret’s background. I’m guessing she, Tayyar, and Ahmet were in the jewelry and money laundering racket.
And why did she seek out Filiz in the orphanages? What is significance of the Cakir family (Filiz’s surname) in Tokat?
Several professional “misunderstandings” in these episodes. Pelin and Arda not interested in Ipek’s news in the previous episode. Later, Ipek not interested in Tolga’s. I think those lines of inquiry are important and want to yell at the detectives who are missing key information!
Tolga seems very by the book, which doesn’t fit the group’s situation with Elif right now. Yet Pelin was saying the same stuff recently. I hope he stays loyal to the group. But he isn’t in their inner circle.

ReplyDeleteThank you Dondi! Wonderful as always!
So, they found a body? That wasn't clear from Friday's episode where it seemed like it was only a leg. So now I'm guessing they really did kill someone else and use the fire to cover it up....but then how did the DNA come back to Huso? And what was the ax for? I mean I suppose the DNA test could have been altered, no shortage of bad cops in this one. But if Fatih is keeping this from Tayyar, it's not Tayyar's influence changing the test...
Filiz is interesting, she's been Nedret's go to person all along, but does she know what Nedret is really up to? I thought she was in cahoots at first, but now I am not so sure.
Ipek and Tolga - did I detect some chemistry there when they were arguing? They'd be cute together. I like Tolga and I am not sure if staying loyal means going along with whatever plan Omer comes up with. He hasn't had the best ideas when he was in shock or emotionally devastated (hello ditching Elif on their wedding day) and like I said yesterday, I don't think removing Elif from the crime scene was a good idea. They got a blood test today, and maybe like you said Dondi it won't show up anyway, but the drug could have been detectable the night of and metabolized overnight, waiting even till the next day lessened the chances. I kind of think the best and most loyal thing Tolga could do right now is insist they follow the rules.
kpa
ReplyDeleteThank you Babachita and Darcy.
I'm always going between the Spanish and Turkish. I was a bit sloppy and I apologize. They only found a leg or part of a leg, "body part". Pelin mentioned something about enough tissue on the ankle. I think Omer asked if they found a body. They did not. But whatever they found, it belonged to Huso according to the test. And remember Fatih had an axe. So the theory of Huso being alive, but missing a leg, exists.
Fatih is so smart. He's sort of playing for time so he can get the most out of the deals he's made. He really wants his "inheritance" from dear old dad before he turns him in to Omer. Or if Elif and Omer go down I guess he'll stick with Dad.
I think Tolga is loyal and a good cop. He just doesn't have the personal, emotional investment that the others have.

ReplyDeleteArda and Pelo have left the morgue and they are now driving in the car. Pelo is crying and Arda is visibly shaken.
Pelin: When I close my eyes, his face is looking straight at me and I hear his voice. And even though he made so many mistakes, I loved him from the bottom of my being. Tell me how we couldn’t help him. Do you remember that when we found out he would be our boss, we were so happy? Omer was far away, but a part of him was going to be with us. I still can’t believe he’s dead. How are we going to tell Omer? I don’t know how we’re going to do it.
Arda: I’ll tell him. (Pelo’s phone rings, it’s Omer) Don’t answer, we’re arriving.
Meanwhile Omer is sitting with Elif out at the table out in their garden. Omer is trying to call Pelo as we know and is frustrated, they aren’t answering. Elif wonders if something new could have happened.
Arda and Pelo arrive out front of Omer’s house and take deep breaths. Omer is about to call again when the doorbell rings.
Omer answers the door: Where had you been? Why didn’t you answer the phone?
Arda and Pelo remain quiet and the looks on their faces says it all. Finally, Arda hands over the coroner’s report.
Arda: It says his leg was cut off, nothing was left, and everything burned except the bones, and the cause of death was gunshots.
Omer: He’s dead.
Arda: They found two bullets, one in the skull and the other near the heart. (how is this possible if they just found the leg?) They were embedded in the bones, and unfortunately, they came from Elif’s gun. The lab confirmed the fingerprints belong to a single person, and that person is Elif. They burned him when he was already dead, so he didn’t suffer.
Pelo: I’m so sorry.
Omer goes to the foot of the stairs and sits. He is crying. Elif is standing in the kitchen and has heard. She drops a glass and a crying Omer looks over at her, pain tearing him up.
Burhan is sitting outside while Melike in the yard. He’s clearly morose and Melike tries to cheer him up.
Melike: Tell me, Burhan, do you want me to make you some tasty toast? And how about a cake? Tell me something—how long will you sit here? I’m going to show you something that will make you feel better. Up you go. Now give me your hand and come with me. Here it is, look. Burhan, let me introduce you to the dovecote. It’s your dad’s and your uncle’s. When I came to live in this house, sometimes I felt alone like you, and when that happened, I would come to this place to tell the doves what I kept in my heart. So, I’m going to give you a mission: you will make sure the doves come back to this place, and for every dove you bring, I’ll give you a surprise as a reward.
Burhan: And they will come.
Melike: Of course they will come—why do you think they wouldn’t? So, Burhan, you will start right now.
Burhan: Okay, but what do I have to do to make the doves come, Aunt Melike?
Melike: Tell them you feel lonely, and they will come.
Melike looks over and sees Demet arriving home and her attention shifts to Demet: Why did you come back so early? Are you crying?
Elif is back outside in her own garden and speaking to Omer: I became a murderer. I killed your brother.
Omer: You didn’t do it.
Elif: And how do you know? I don’t even know. We don’t know. I don’t remember anything because I surely wanted to erase it from my mind. It was me.
Omer: You didn’t do it, and I’m going to prove it.
Elif: Your brother took my father from me, and I took your brother from you. And I didn’t just kill him—I killed all our future, our hopes, our lives. I’m a murderer.
Omer: Calm down, it’s okay, it will be okay, my love.
Elif: What am I going to do? How could I ever look Melike in the eyes again? And I took your mother’s son. I left her little ones without their father. Omer, I left three children without their father.
Omer: Hold me. That’s all I need.

ReplyDeleteMeanwhile back at the would be meeting at the Denizer co, Asli, Nilu and Tia Nedret are waiting in vain for Elif.
Asli: Oh, where is Elif? She never arrives late without calling first.
Nilu: She didn’t come home last night, but today I spoke with Omer, and if something had happened to her, he would have told me.
Nedret texts some: ‘Tell me, what happened with Elif?’ She gets a response: ‘I’ll explain later—be patient.’
Levent: I called her but she doesn’t answer. Were you able to talk to her?
Asli: No, I couldn’t.
Levent: I’m worried about her—better I’ll go look for her.
Asli: We’ll go with you. Let’s go. The meeting is over. Sorry, aunt. See you.
Nedret: See you. She calls her mystery friend…’tell me why you’re asking me to be patient. Explain it. Huso died, and nobody knows yet. I want you to tell me what you’re planning.’
Back at Elmer’s house, Omer is getting ready to leave.
Arda to Omer: Let me go with you, please.
Omer: I just need you to take care of Elif.
Arda: Pelin is with her, let me go with you.
Omer: I want to go alone Arda.
He walks out.
Pelo: Omer left.
Arda: He left and Elif?
Pelo: she’s sleeping. We have the evidence. She had a motive and she was at the scene. Only her. We should arrest her.
Arda: Do you think she killed him?
Pelo: She herself says she did. You heard it.
Arda: I’ve never felt as distressed as I do now.
Pelo: Arda, as soon as Omer arrives, we’ll go to the station. That’s the best we can do.
Omer arrives home and begins slowly walking toward the front door. He is stopped halfway up the stairs though remembering various moments in the voice of Huso: ‘Mom, look who arrived just in time to eat with us.’ ‘Come here, Omer, hug your brother.’ ‘How could I be angry with you? Melike, you should talk less and listen more. Give me that glass, come on, give it to me. I want to sing a song for my brother.’ ‘Come here, boy, come. Let me see you. When did you grow up like that? You’re almost taller than me. Mom, Omer won’t stop growing.’ ‘Do you know what it is to be a victim of fate? Tell me, why do you want to ruin me and send me before a judge? I’m sorry. Forgive me. May God punish me.’
Sudden Burhan interrupts his thoughts calling out to Melike: I have a dove. Only they understood it. Let’s see, she’s cute.
Omer continues heading to the house.
Burhan is still telling Melike about his success: She didn’t want to escape; it was very easy to catch her.
Melike: I know why it was easy—she saw you and wanted to be your friend. Can I hold her?
Elvan isn’t amused and tells Burhan he should leave the poor dove alone, she’s not a toy. Burhan says Aunt said she wants to be my friend. Fatma walks in and tells Melike, you should go see your daughter; she’s been crying since earlier. I asked her, but she doesn’t want to tell me what’s wrong. Go talk to her. They notice that Omer is walking in the front door and Elvan is happy to see him, Melike is a little alarmed though because Omer never comes at this hour. Did something happen?
Omer suggests the kids go out and play and Hasan and Burhan head outside but Demet walks into the room. Omer says mom, we have to talk. Elvan worries and asks why Omer’s eyes are full of tears? Omer only says ‘I’m very, very sorry,’ and everyone knows. It’s Hüseyin. Hüseyin died. Everyone is crying, Melike is throwing herself on the ground in despair and Demet is crying too but claiming she’s glad that he died, because she will never forgive him.
The boys, unaware of the horror being shared inside the house, set the dove free. Hasan had assured Burhan that it will come back. (It’s sweet to see the brothers together and I’m wondering, did Hasan ever figure out who Burhan was to him? I don’t remember him ever finding out about daddy cheating with Svetlana)
KPA 135 part 3 of 6
ReplyDeleteSomehow there are already mourners showing up at Elvan’s house? Omer stands outside and the neighbors start arriving giving their condolences and bringing food. Omer escapes to his room and finds a crying Elvan there.
Omer: Mom, how are you?
Elvan: How do you want me to be? Omer, my Hüseyin is gone. He left me forever. My firstborn is gone. My mischievous son is gone. You’re the only thing I have left. Only you are left to me, my boy, my everything. I don’t know—I don’t know what I’d do without you. Thanks to you I can be a mother.
The neighbors gossip with Fatma: They say he was a murderer. Wasn’t it Omer himself who caught him and put him in jail?
Fatma agrees: He made many people suffer and hurt many people, but it’s over—his death is divine justice. God came to get him to do justice.
Neighbors: Why do you say that? He wasn’t killed in prison. He escaped.
Fatma: They burned him or something like that. Omer told me, but in secret. Please don’t ask anymore. Everyone is very hurt. But if it’s true, he won’t go to heaven. May God forgive his sins. I feel sorry for the people inside. I’m very moved—their hearts are suffering.
Pelo is still at Elmer’s house and she’s wrapping up a phone call.
Pelo: Okay, I have it. I’ll tell Omer when he comes. See you later. Elif, Arda just called. The prosecutor confirmed the arrest warrant. Let’s go to the station. Look, if you turn yourself in, things will be easier. Let’s go.
Elif: I’m not going, Pelin. Omer told me to wait for him.
Pelo: Elif, listen, Omer went to his family to tell them the news about Hüseyin. He has to be with his family now. Look, you can trust me and Arda. We’ll do everything possible to help you. Everything will be resolved. Calm down, Elif, let’s go.
Elif: I know you want the best for me. I trust you both a lot, but I’m going to wait for Omer. Please don’t insist.
Pelo: Elif, if you don’t turn yourself in, they’ll send us a charge. We could be fired, including you. All our hard work of a year will go to waste. Then Tayyar Dündar will escape with everything he has done. Do you want that to happen, Elif? Look, I do believe you are innocent. I really believe it. It’s better if you turn yourself in and this will end soon.
Elif: When Omer returns, if he says what you just said, of course I will turn myself in.
Pelo: Okay, Elif, okay.
Levent is standing in a parking lot waiting and he looked shady as all get out. I thought this was going to be the moment we suddenly found out he too is working for Tayyar, but he was just waiting for Asli.
Asli to Levent: Did you have any trouble?
Levent: None. But what is she going to do with this? Is she leaving the country?
Asli: I’ll tell you later. Thanks for everything,
Levent: Aslı. Please tell me what’s happening. Elif hasn’t shown up since yesterday. The earth didn’t swallow her up. Something is happening and I want to know.
Asli: Please don’t ask anything else. We’ll talk later.
Fatih arrives to an isolated spot to meet daddy in the thug fan.
Tayyar: Waiting on you has become a habit, Fatih. You’ll have to be punctual if you want to be successful. It’s the only way to succeed. You’ll make deliveries just in time so the customer won’t get upset, understand? Because otherwise you’d have bad consequences.
Fatih: So, don’t stress. Here’s your gift.
Tayyar: What is this?
Fatih: She will be arrested and Hüseyin is underground. There it is. I always prefer to be late rather than make a mistake. That’s called a clean delivery. I kept the promise I made: I sent Elif to jail and Hüseyin to the grave.
Tayyar: Well done. You’ve fulfilled what I asked. Take this.
Fatih: And this—what is it now?
Tayyar: I made a promise: if you fulfilled it, this is your day. I’m going to court. You will be my legal son. I’m adopting you.
KPA 135 part 4 of 6
ReplyDeleteOmer arrives back to the pink house and gets a call from Arda.
Omer: How are you, Arda?
Arda: I have the arrest warrant with me. The prosecutor is waiting for me to send officers to get her.
Omer: Very good. We’ll talk later.
Arda: Okay, we’re in contact.
He looks toward the front of the house, but Asli and Nilu are arriving and they run up to him. They hand him a bag and he puts it in the trunk.
Asli: Everything is ready. Colombo, what do we do now?
Nilu: Is she inside?
Omer: Look, we don’t have time. It’s what I asked for?
Asli: Yes, we got everything.
Nilu: Do you need anything else?
Omer: No.
Asli: Omer is Elif inside?
Omer: Yes, Pelin is with her.
Asli: Can we could go in to see her?
Omer: Not now. At the place I told you.
Nilu: Okay. Omer, are you sure we’re doing the right thing?
Omer: I no longer know what is right and what is not right. I only want Elif’s safety, and I can’t think of a better solution.
Asli: We should go.
Omer: That’s right. See you.
Nilu and Asli leave and Omer goes inside to face Elif and Pelin.
Elif: Omer, did you tell them?
Omer: Yes, I did.
Pelo: How is Aunt Elvan?
Omer: She’s been better.
Elif: What did I do to them?
Pelo: The prosecutor has already decided. We don’t have more time.
Omer: I know, Pelin, I know.
Pelo: Should we go?
Omer: We’ll stop by the lawyer’s office. You go, Arda is waiting.
Pelo: Good, then I’ll prepare everything for when you arrive. Don’t worry—well, both of you don’t worry. We’ll handle it together.
Omer waits for Pelo to leave and says to Elif, Let’s go. Quickly. It’s clear that Elif doesn’t know Omer is planning to escape. She asks if he will tell everyone that I’m going to be arrested and he says yes, of course. Let’s go. He takes her outside and again she asks when will you tell your mother that I will be arrested? But he just says get in the car, Elif.
Nedret and Filiz are home and there’s a knock on the door. Filiz hopes everything is okay. Who could it be at this hour? It’s the whinner Levent. He’s come to tattle on Elif and Asli. He has very bad news. Aslı and Nilu called him. They urgently asked for cash. They didn’t tell him what the money was for but they were very upset, so Levent went to the station to help them. He thought maybe Omer had something to do with this, and Ipek was there. She gave him the very bad news. Hüseyin is dead, and what’s worse, they are going to arrest Elif as the prime suspect in the murder because she was there. The police are looking for her right now. Filiz looks like she might be genuinely surprised but Nedret isn’t entirely surprised of course, but she does look like she might have been unaware about the Elif is about to be arrested part of all this.
Fatih comes to some abandoned warehouse asking his henchie if the doctor has already been here. Henchie says he arrived an hour ago. He examined him. He’s fine. He only says he still feels a lot of pain. He said we had to take care of his health. I gave him something to eat with difficulty, but yes, he’s okay. Fatih says he’ll stay here until tomorrow. Come get him at six. Henchie says of course boss, and leaves. Fatih looks expectant and we don’t see who ‘he’ is but I’m betting big money Huso is still alive and kicking!

ReplyDeleteElif is trying to tell Omer this street doesn’t lead to the lawyer’s office. But of course, Omer isn’t going there. His phone rings and it’s Arda. Arda is warning Omer that he can’t delay much longer and it’s clear Arda knows Omer’s plan and is helping but Pelo is still in the dark like Elif. She keeps calling Omer as well. They arrive somewhere and Elif asks why they are there but Omer doesn’t answer. She repeats herself but still he doesn’t answer. Omer pulls the break and jumps out of the car. He clearly hasn’t learned from the mistake of making the decision for Elif before their wedding. He remains silent and gets out of the car, going to the trunk and grabbing her bag, he hands it to her.
Omer: There’s enough money for a few months. Your passport is here too, and your things—your sisters helped me with that.
Elif: What do you mean, Omer? What money? What things? What are you talking about?
Omer: You’re going to travel. Your flight is at 10.
Elif throws the bag down: I’m not going anywhere. I’m not going to run away. I thought you believed me. You think I killed him, right? You think I’m the murderer, and that’s why you’re trying to get me out of here.
Omer: Don’t you see there’s no end to this? There’s no end to what we’re going through. I can’t do anything else. I can’t allow you to go to prison.
Elif: My decision—if I’m guilty, I’ll pay for it.
Omer: Elif, I’m not going to send you to jail. Who knows what could happen to you there—I don’t even want to imagine it. If they lock you up, I’ll go crazy. I can’t do that. Do you understand? Look, here you have everything, and you have a ticket to Rome. You’ll go there and then wherever you want, wherever you choose. You can start over.
Elif: I don’t want to live if it’s not with you by my side. I can’t live without you. That’s impossible. Even if I have to go to jail, at least there I could be a little closer to you. You could come see me from time to time. For me it’s enough to know you’re nearby. I don’t want to be far from you.
Omer: Believe me, I would love to go with you, but I can’t now.
Elif: Then I won’t go anywhere. I’ll stay here. How could I leave?
Omer: Don’t you understand? They’re trying to separate us, that’s what they want. They want to take away the strength we get from each other. Don’t you see?
Elif: But come with me.
Omer: I have to stay. I’m going to prove your innocence. Then I’ll go and find you. My lady, go. Create a life for both of us, but don’t forget me. Okay. I love you so much, my love.
They hug each other tightly for a long moment and then a car rolls up behind them. It’s Asli and Nilu again and they run out and embrace Elif.
Fatih to someone still offscreen but we know who it is: Here I am. And even though it was a bit difficult, you know well how we professionals are, and look, I got my prize, the one I told you about, and this is just beginning. Believe me, Hüseyin, the best is yet to come. So, if you follow me, we’ll be like two brothers, like two comrades, and we’ll go together to sit on that throne. You’ll see—you won’t believe it.
Tayyar is also getting a slow walking visitor at his home and surprise, surprise; it’s Nedret!! She looks fierce and he looks happy to see her, or at least intrigued? He’s mostly stoic but there’s a little bit of a twinkle in his eyes.
Nedret isn’t happy: What the hell do you think you’re doing, huh? What do you think you’re doing? This is what you promised me.
Tayyar: my dear Nedret. I’m surprised by your attitude now. We’ve known each other for a long time, haven’t we?
Nedret: You said you would keep Elif out of this, that you would keep my family away from all this.
Tayyar: But I also remember that before that you asked me to ruin your brother.
KPA 135 part 6 of 6
ReplyDeleteNedret: You’re always like this—just like this. You also betrayed me. After killing my brother, you kidnapped Nilüfer. Now Hüseyin is dead; we don’t even know about his body, and you’re involving my niece. Elif? Tayyar, this time you’ve gone too far. If you harm my family, I won’t give you a single chance. I’ll kill you. If you do anything, I’ll kill you. I won’t hesitate, and never forget it. (Nedret looks bat shit crazy! I don’t know how the actress pulls off those crazy eyes but they are impressive!)
Tayyar: I have no doubt about that, dear Nedret, because you are a murderess who killed her own brother. With my death you won’t gain anything at all. Remember this: we sail in the same boat. Either we sink to the bottom of the sea or we keep floating. Sometimes it’s necessary to sacrifice someone to gain a benefit, don’t you think? Now please sit down, dear, and listen to me carefully. We need to keep calm, because anger—ah, damned anger—always makes you do the wrong things.
Nedret still looks pissed but goes to sit down.
Back to the sad goodbye between the Denizer sisters, and I still think Omer’s idea is very very bad and I’m sorry Elif isn’t fighting it and disappointed Arda is supporting it. Elif won’t be safer out in Italy by herself where Tayyar and his men could find her.
Elif to her sisters: I’m going to miss you all so much.
Asli: Rome is close; I’ll go visit you. You won’t manage to get rid of me.
Omer: You two won’t see each other for a while. They’re going to track you to get to Elif.
Asli: So, you’re telling me to forget my sister, is that it?
Omer: Not now, please.
Elif: Omer, I can’t leave them like this. Maybe I could go later. I need time to say goodbye to them.
Omer: Elif, if you don’t leave now, it will be too late. If we wait longer, they won’t let you leave the country—now or ever.
Asli: He’s right. All of this is for your own good. Don’t worry, we’ll see each other again very soon.
Nilu: I love you very much.
Elif: You have to take care of each other. Look, if something happens to one of you, I’ll be a big nuisance for the other.
Nilu: Don’t worry, we’ll go as soon as Omer lets us. Okay.
Omer: You can’t call anyone. It’s forbidden. Don’t say where you are, ever—not even online.
Elif: And how will I know you’re okay?
Omer: You’ll feel it, my love. You’ll feel it. I’m going to prove your innocence and I’ll go find you in Rome, or I won’t be able to go on living. Wait for me, my love.
Elif: Take care of my sisters, please.
Omer: They are now my sisters.
Nilu: Let’s go, or you’ll be late.
Elif kisses and hugs Asli and Nilu again and then she steps away. They blow her kisses and our episode ends.

ReplyDeleteDondi - it might be a translation issue, but the Spanish episode definitely said that they found a body. They said the body was so badly burned that only the ankle could be used for DNA but there was a body. Then like I noted in 135 recap, Arda talked about finding the two bullets in the head and the heart, which they would have to have found more than the leg to know that. Then again, if they had enough of the body to know the bullets were in the head and the heart - how do they only have the leg for possible DNA sampling. It doesn't make sense.
Maybe Huso is still alive and legless - I like that idea. He needed a doc for something. I guess we'll probably find out next weekend.

ReplyDeleteI imagine the guys doing the autopsy are in on the cover up of sorts and was told to use the chopped off leg for the sample. was the dead guy's leg cut off too. Did they feed it to the fishes?
I agree Elif leaving the country and Omer not having her blood sampled immediately they found her so zoned out was also a big mistake.
I wonder if Feliz is Nedret's daughter? I missed the part about her looking for a girl in the orphanages. I should pay closer attention , but you 3 are such good recappers I know I'll get the full story by reading your recaps.
