Abismo de pasión #74 6/25/12: Squeal!!! Scheme!!! Snooze!!! Stuff!!! Seethe!!!

It might be kind of short tonight. I am a bit pithed by the ending.

Part I- In which my husband asks "Did you just squeal??"
Casa de Dios/Gael
Dam: Dude! You had my amulet all along!!
Gael: I swear I was going to give it back, but I didn't. Sorry.
Dam: I'm gonna take a bath.

Casa Castigo
Lolita is mad at Horacio and doesn't plan on waiting for him to return. She's too hungry. Meanwhile, Horacio is borrowing the bartender's truck for some "work" the patrona wants him to do.

Assgu comes to the dining room for dinner. Elisa thought he was...er...busy with Tía. But no. He wants to eat with Elisa. Elisa is so excited she forgot her new boob size and runs into a chair on her way to her end of the table. Elisa wants to talk to him about something important, but Carmina arrives and the fun begins.
Assgu: if you are hungry go eat in the kitchen or the terrace. I don't want your orange butt in my dining room. Since we're all here, let me tell everyone that I no longer consider this rotten piece of citrus fruit my wife. If you're hungry, fix your own damn food. If your clothes are dirty, wash them your own damn self. Lolita, I don't want you to wait on her anymore.
Lolita: You don't need to tell me twice!!
Assgu: Now scram, Guppy Lips! Elisa and I want to have dinner as a family.
Guppy Lips: You're not fair!! *whimper*
Lolita: WOOT!!!
Recapper: SQUEE!!!

Casa Arango
Fina dines with Guido and we learn that Flor and Paolo are at a play date with the Tovar children. Fina takes the opportunity to ask Guido to fire Enrique. Guido blusters, but eventually caves. Fina has him by the cajones.

Back at the Castañon house, Elisa learns that Assgu won't give Carmeany a second chance. Assgu plans to make her life a living hell in the hopes she leaves on her own.

Guppy Lips swears Assgu will regret his actions. (Bingo alert: Villain talks to self out loud and Te juro)

Casa Tovar
The play date is going well and a fine vintage is brought out. Mama Tovar comes home and kicks the Landuccis out and lets Sabrina and Quique know their father was in a bar room brawl. (Which is actually kind of ironic since the Landuccis were kicked to the curb on the pretext that the Tovars were a "decent family.")

Casa de Dios/Gael/Padre
Padre made dinner. Dam Inconsiderate can't stay. He has to go to Casa Castigo

Hospital
Tovar kids visit dad. Where will he stay when they discharge him?? Begone browbeats him 'til he agrees to come back to the house.

Casa Harangue-O
Fina harangues Flor. Flor, luckily, has some pride and refuses to play Fina's game. No, she won't fight for Dam and no, she won't stay in La Ermita any more. Who cares if Fina manipulated daddy Guido to stay. She asks Fina to leave so she can pack.

Part II- In Which Men Scheme
Lolita waits up for Horacio, despite her saying she wasn't.
Elisa wants to make coffee to take to dad. She's going to talk to him about Dam.

La Cantina
Gab and Paolo scheme. Turns out Paolo is the one that ran Guido's business into the ground. Who knew he had such great forgery skills? Gab wants to channel that skill into embezzling money from the Pro Ce and throwing the blame on Guido. They discuss terms.
Gab: 30-30
Paolo: Psh!! Dude! I am a forger extraordinaire and you are asking me to screw my own brother over. I deserve at least half.
Gab: Oh, all right.

Casa Arango
Fina: I had a fight with Flor. No biggie. She says she's going back to the DF.
Guido: Ok. Good for her.
Fina: Whaaaa????? She has to stay here.
Guido: Whaaa??? There is no reason for her to stay.
Fina: Grrrr.

Casa Castigo
Lolita and Elisa are still making coffee. Elisa is nervous. Horacio still hasn't shown up.

In town, Dam sees Ramona in her cart. They talk about the power of the amulet and Dam and Elisa's love. Apparently between Ramona's amulets and the power of lerve, they can withstand anything. I hope so. Fina is out for blood (you'll see.) Ramona says she's never wrong. Does that mean an anvil for Gael and Paloma's relationship?

Elisa starts to talk to Assgu about farmy stuff and talk turns to Dam and the reconciliation. A bell rings. We hear Lolita telling Dam Pushy he can't come in. Dam has come to talk to Assgu personally. Don Ass is somewhat cordial. Dam Formal asks to marry Elisa. Neither Sr. Ass nor Fina can keep them apart.

Part III- In Which We Snooze
Elisa stands up to dad and reminds him what an ass he was for all those years. She is not going to give up a chance at happiness. Don Ass says he'll think about the Dam Proposal.

Casa Arango
Flor is decided. She's leaving. Guido thinks it's a great decision and Guido thinks Paolo should go with her. Paolo is not so inclined. Guido reminds Paolo that he's essentially a bum.

Fina tells Flor she will be taking her to the airport. Flor tries in vain to turn down Fina's "kindness." I actually feel sorry for Flor.

Part IV- In Which We Learn the Fate of Kenia's Stuff
Casa Castigo
Horacio is home from his nocturnal activities. Lolita is pithed and lets him have it. She is not going to put up with an irresponsible, drunk bum for a husband. Horacio promises it won't happen again. Don Ass comes and asks Horacio to get the horse from Don Lucio and also get his horse ready. He wants to take Elisa riding. Elisa is dressed in long pants. No Gold Bond needed. Elisa things are getting better. Poor little twit.

ING finds out from the Real Estate agent that someone called and said Kenia has left. She didn't even want the deposit for the year's rent! Surprisingly, ING does NOT ask about the money. Instead, ING asks about the stuff inside. It's all gone. Heeey, remember that truck Horacio borrowed in Part I???

Speaking of the Orange Julius Devil, Carmina is asking about Kenia's stuff. Horacio cleared it all out and dumped it in a neighboring village. Horacio wonders what happened to Kenia and assumes (correctly) that if Carmina is involved...it can't be good. Don Ass interrupts. Nem-ho is surprised and pithed to learn that Don Ass is going to go riding with Elisa.

Part V-In Which the Recapper Seethes
Alternate Title: Jewish Grandmother from Hell
Fina's driver has a lead foot. Fina wants Flor to stay. Flor...not so much. Fina tells Flor all about Daddy's financial woes and lets the girl know she can forget living in the lap of luxury. If Flor leaves, Fina is going to fire Daddy AND demand an immediate  payback on the loan she made him.

Carmina crashes Doc Tovar's office. Paloma Loose Lips tells her about the fight in the bar.

Elisa (modestly garbed) and Don Ass talk habanero stuff. He's going to sell Cielo Abierto to help pay back the loan. Blah. Whatever. He's being saying it for weeks. Sell the damn thing already.

Fina is prepared to do anything to get Dam away from Elisa. Fina brings up the fake pregnancy. Fina wants a grandchild (blood), dammit. She's desperate. Flor, being logical, says to Fina that she and Dam Celibate haven't been intimate in months. In Fina's world, it's just a matter of Flor being pretty and seductive (Bingo Alert: There may be a "Galán sleeps with someone other than Protagonista" or "Galán gets drunk" or "Galán is drugged" in the near future.) Fina is sure that if Flor can manage to get herself knocked up (which I now know how to say in Spanish thanks to Julia), Dam Honorable will do the right thing since he knows how it feels to grow up without a dad. Padre will probably be on their side, too. Flor should be on board with this since having Fina's grandchild will assure her a share in the Arango fortune...something Daddy could use. Flor is stuck between a rock and Fina.

  1. Sara thanks for your recap. Your title captured so many emotions - some good, some bad.

Though its great that Disgusto is finally treating his daughter properly, the reason I cannot go to his table, in spite of the great people there, is b/c his treatment of his daughter is completely contingent on his wife or other woman in his life. When he loved Stephi, he loved Elisa since then her life has been hell. He falls for Kenia and at her suggestion he starts trying to be nice to Elisa. And now that he's actually onto the Orange Menace, he's kind again. I hope Elisa doesn't get heart-broken about her unfortunate father again.

And poor Flo (I'm even shocked I'm saying it but Fina is horrible). As Fina kept ranting about her wanting an nieto, I thought Flo consider how she treats her son and you. And now she's got your Dad and you in a really bad situation but spin a web around our spider. Most of these silly TN women pretend they are pregnant and for you Flo this will be the second tie. Now to save you and your Dad claim temporary infertility; it can be attribute to stress. Seriously Flo under no circumstances attach yourself to that crazy woman. Play along until your Dad is safe, flirt w/Dam but start contemplating an exit strategy. Fake your own death if necessary Sweetie.

So Paolo's a forger; he can do something useful aside from being eye candy. Can't wait to see the anvil drop on him after shafting his brother for all these years.

Horacio seems to just dig himself deeper and deeper.

  2. G'Evening, Sara:
Nice recap and thanks much for getting it up so quickly. Please do tell me how to say "knocked up" en Español.

Well, tonight you made me laugh and you have left us with some high-liklihood Bingo possibilities. Blue and Rosemary, listen up, little kittens.

Sara, I left for 10 days and came back to Kenia being gone and I guess dead, Elisa discovering tunic tops but no bottoms(thinking of you, Rosemary, and how poor Rita from El Tal never did find her pants), and Horacio already breaking his fiancee Lolita's heart. Wow.

My girlfriend, the efficient Black Widow Alfonsina, continues to run circles around everyone else. Guido is complete putty in her hands. Now she has got poor Flo caught in her sticky threads. Will no one ever catch her away from her web? How is the Florster she supposed to convince convince Dam that she slept with her?

Your best line of the night, Sara, was "Now scram, Guppy Lips!"

I loved seeing David Z smile real smiles last night. His smile just lights up and brightens his face.

    Thanks again, Sara.

  3. Oh, good grief. I should read what I write before I hit the publish button.

I was trying to say, "How is Florencia going to convince Damian that they slept together and that she is pregnant with his child. She has already tried a similar ploy once."

I am creeped out thinking that a dead Kenia could pop up all gross and bloated at any time...Eeeewwww. And on that morbid thought I will close.

  4. "Elisa is so excited she forgot her new boob size and runs into a chair on her way to her end of the table." ¡jajaja!

    Yes, Sara, she does! So glad you savored the moment too. {Time is money ... keep those cameras rolling...}

    I especially love your 3 line take on the Gael/Dam amulet scene. {...keep that recap rolling...}

So is that the first use of "Nem-ho"? I love it!

EJ, perhaps Sara is thinking of "preñada" for "knocked up"???

Stoopid stoopid Alfie. She always bets on the wrong horse, doesn't she?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Or for "knocked up" were you thinking of "salir con su domingo siete"?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Super Sara, your recaps are always a joy to read. Yowza, I was wondering how Fina was going to convince Flo. I was surprised at Fina's straightforward threat. She is extremely goal-oriented, I'll give her that. Now Fina, go back to hades from whence you came!

Assgusto and Elisa, I'm not sure why he's pretending to give Elisa and Dam a chance. He still believes they are half siblings, does he not? Or has he forgotten? Or maybe he knows Carmeany is a lying sack. Nah, that's hoping for too much.

Great translation of Gab and Paolo's discussion. I was a little confused.

Wow, that Horacio is efficient. He managed to break into Kenia's casita and move all her stuff out in the dead of night and nobody noticed? Then he took it to a neighboring village, unloaded it and made it back to work the next day?

    Welcome back EJ.

Thanks again Sara. My favorite line, Elisa forgetting her boob size. Funny!!

    ReplyDelete
  7. NM
I so love 'salir con su domingo...". Now that is an image! I am still giggling over,"Now,scram, Guppy Lips!"

I just had a bad bad thought. We know Guppy Lips is capable of murder...she wouldn't try to off Lolita would she? Delores should not give her too much sass while she is being dissed by 'Gusto Cat Food. She could snap and bean Lolita with a cast iron skillet !

    EJ

    ReplyDelete
  8. EJ, I think Guppy Lips would off anyone if she felt sufficiently motivated. She would probably love to stick it to Lolita, but it seems like she needs something to really tick her off before she'll go off the deep end. Kenia egged Carmina on until Carmeany lost it and, in a rage, Car beaned Kenia with a log and drowned her. I could be wrong, but I get the feeling Carmeany needs to be in rage mode before she kills. I think (hope hope hope) that Lolita knows Car well enough not to go there. But I could be wrong. I will hate this telenovela is Carmina kills Lolita. Ugh, that is a bad thought.

  9. Thanks Sara. Love your touch of humor in all the recap. I was just shaking my head through a lot of last night.

Sign me up for the Poor Flo table right now. Chances are she's going to try and trap Dam, but after listening to the Alfi's rant, she feels she has to do this for her father ( uh....who else in this TN does dumb stuff for her daddy-o too?)

And speaking of Alfi, wow. That car scene, she just channeled her inner obsessivenesds, almost madness on what her plan was. She seemed to be alkmost shaking at one point ranting her plan, then she would collect herself. It was awesome! Like Creamsicle, she just can't let go of what it is that SHE wants and will manipulate whomever to her purpose. When you talk about tricking your own son, yikes.

I don't know what to make of Asshat. you want to believe he means it, that he has seen the light and it's not orange-tinted. But either he's going to flip-flop and leave Elisa broken-hearted again, or we're being led up to his doom. TN rule-- sort of lousy guy starts to be good right before someone does something to him. My vote: Guppy-lips.

I would like to personally than the director in advance for the scene we will be seeing tonight between Dam and Gael. With the plot taking stooopid turns, at least we can enjoy the scenery.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Sara, you hit it out of the park. "Flor and Paolo are at a play date with the Tovar children" was one of my many favorites. This was great.

Dam and Gael - the tale of the dueling biceps. I was totally annoyed that all we saw were shoulder rather than 6 pack shots. I digress.

I have to admit I was happy to see Augusto show some trace of humanity. Elisa revleled in his hug and his smile. But Karen raises an excellent point that I'd not considered - his treatment of Elisa is based on the other woman in his life. So true. And as we've seen, that can change on a dime.

Paolo made it clear he was absolutely not interested in Sabrina yet he is pursusing her. Glad Begonia threw him out! I'm really hoping for Begonia's redemption. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for Paolo. He's a predatory, lying thief.

Elna June, welcome back! Just in time to see "efficient Black Widow Alfonsina" weave her tightest web yet. Shelob has nothing on this chick.

I'm sure this has been mentioned but I caught some of a "Alma de Hierro" rerun and Fina, Augusto, Elisa and Gael are all in it. The gang is all back together here.

    Thanks again Sara!

    Diana

  11. It's been two episodes since Kenia was murdered and I'm wondering how much the TangelHo enjoyed it. And how long it will take before she gets the urge to kill again?

Predicting a catfight between her and Elisa in the near future.

I'm also not quite buying Assgusto's change of heart.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Thanks everyone!

    Let's see...where to begin.

Fina: She is one of those villains to whom you have to give grudging respect. Goal oriented, efficient and she keeps her hands clean.

Carmina: As was said, she has to be pretty pithed to actually kill. Plus I think a lot has to do with keeping her secrets. I guess Lolita knows some secrets, but does she know any big ones.

Don Toad: I definitely don't get the change of heart or the tacit approval of the wedding. He *does* still think they are half siblings and despite the outting of Nem-ho's and Toofar's dalliance, Toad is still firmly in a "Steffie cheated on me" state of mind.

Fake Pregnancy: Honestly, I feel like this is weird. How in the heck is Flor going to get Damian in bed?? Dam wants nothing to do with her. Will Quique become a dupe sperm donor? Will Dam be drugged and duped?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Stuff we learned last night:

Carmina, Elisa & Augusto learned Lolita knows how to do the Happy Dance.

Augusto learned Elisa is Dam Determined to be with Dam.

Carmina, Enrique & Sabrina learned Doc was in a bar brawl.

Flor learned Fina expects her to whore herself out for Guido.

We learned Paolo either has a stash of money hidden somewhere from embezzling from Guido or he's the poorest manager of money ever, having nothing but a moto to show for his embezzling efforts.

We also learned because Horacio has bungled every job given to him, Kenia's stuff will be showing up in the La Ermita "Ejército de Salvación" real soon.

  18. Sara, haven't read whole recap yet but had to say first scene,

    Casa de Dios/Gael
Dam: Dude! You had my amulet all along!!
Gael: I swear I was going to give it back, but I didn't. Sorry.
Dam: I'm gonna take a bath.

made no sense to me at all. first Gael barks back that Dam stole Elisa from him (when the whole world, including Gael himself, knows it was not the case).. THEN he changes direction and says he was going to take it back to the clinic so Dam would get it next day... nonesense!! he is just one confused/conflicted dude! period!
btw, love your 'Dude!' term.. perfect!
Can't wait to see a whole lot of shirtless scenes per previews for tonite.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Elisa is so excited she forgot her new boob size and runs into a chair on her way to her end of the table. ROFLOL!! Good one! LOVED the bug-eyes of Elisa when Assgu started dissing Tangel-Ho as what she is… LOVED Lolita’s excitement at not having to serve rotten fruit anymore… WOOT!! SQUEE!! is right!!

Fina takes the opportunity to ask Guido to fire Enrique. Guido blusters, but eventually caves. Yeah I think Guido is beginning to see through Fina and realize she is the empress at La Ermita… and maybe the queen picture he had in his mind is starting to crumble/crack.

(Which is actually kind of ironic since the Landuccis were kicked to the curb on the pretext that the Tovars were a "decent family.") well, that speaks to Begone-Ya’s two-faced ‘morals’.

Padre made dinner. Dam Inconsiderate can't stay. He has to go to Casa Castigo…
Well, he didn’t say where he was going, but it was weird how Gael took over. I can’t blame Gael… per what he said before Dam came out: before Dam ever came back, the best they would ‘toast’ with was milk or a bit of juice… all of a sudden when Padre feels like celebrating (he wanted to celebrate that Dam and Gael are living there together.. brokeback mountain feeling again?) .. now Padre breaks open a bottle of wine, etc… Gael is just a bit miffed at the double standard so when Dam passes on the celebration then Gael does not let Padre cancel it, he sits at the table and prevents Padre from backing up LOL!
more comments to come, work duty calls.

  21. Sara: I loved your recap.

Elisa looked as surprised as Viewerville when she bumpted into the chair. Well, chairs will get in the way.

I really didn't think Fina was this bad. She is really evil and is setting herself up for a big anvil. In addition to hating Elisa and Estafania for no reason, she has ordered Gabino to do mean bad things and then dumps him. She has manipulated Guido into being her tool. He is turning out to be a good character now that we know about Paolo's role in the ruin of his business. And, she gets in Flo's head even though Flo knows that she can't win an honest race. Please - no drugs, alcohol, etc. to trap Damian.

And, as far as Augusto goes, I don't trust him. He has an "as bajo la manga". At this point we just don't know what it is.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Karen,
i would second your advice to Flo:
Seriously Flo under no circumstances attach yourself to that crazy woman. Play along until your Dad is safe, flirt w/Dam but start contemplating an exit strategy. Fake your own death if necessary Sweetie.

  25. Marvelous recap Sara. It just sped along smoothly. I loved the dining room scene with Augie-Carm-Elisa-Lola. But I agree with Pasofino that Augie has something up his sleeve when it comes to the Elisa/Dam situation.

Karen- Great observation that Augie's treatment of Elisa is dependent on his feelings for other women in his life-- Stefi, Kenia, Carmeany, and I would even add Alfie to that list. Alfie threatens Elisa, so Augie goes into protection mode to stick it to Alfie.

I think he said the lands are already up for sale. I don't think you can sell something like that that quickly. He needs to find a buyer, and I don't see anyone else but Alfie in La Ermita who has that kind of cash. He's probably going to have to find a buyer in another town.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't trust Augusto's suddenly being nice to Elisa either, but I do think he does want to help Elisa retain her land...this isn't a sudden turnaround (the land) either. He's been, at least, not against Elisa raising up the greenhouse for a few weeks now.

I think one of the turning points for him regarding Elisa was him shooting Damian. Elisa could have left him to rot in jail, but she didn't, and even mortgaged her land to Fina to bail him out. She visited him.

In contrast, Carmina only showed up at the jail once, didn't do anything to help bail Augusto whom she supposedly loves so much out of jail, and did not hock her precious jewels (that Augusto immediately recognized as the ones he gave Estefania).

Still, Augusto still thinks Elisa & Damian are siblings...so this nice act is only the calm before the storm.

    Secrets yet to be revealed:

    Kenia's death & Carmina's role in it.

    Horacio's (and Gabino's)role in Blanca's death

    Gael is Rosendo's son.

    Paloma is Gabino's daughter.

Vicente is Gabino's son (and how Tona got Braulio to marry her)

    Elisa is Augusto's daughter.

Estefania did not cheat with Rosendo but Carmina DID.

    Doc boinked Carmina (Begoña only)

    Paolo embezzling from Guido.

Carmina owns the blue house (Alfonsina/Damian only)

Augusto Jr. was Rosendo's son, not Augusto's (since Paloma's spreading the chisme that Augusto was cheating on Estefania with Carmina...Gabino already told Augusto the baby wasn't his)

Augusto needs to put on his thinking cap...if Damian & Elisa went to Merida to get tested before they got married and were able to go to the JP, why werent' they prevented from marrying if they are indeed siblings?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I don't think you can sell something like that that quickly.
    ---
But it's TN land. I like a quickly executed plot device.

I've been thinking about Flor most ot the morning.

I just don't see her as a villainess. I guess she has done some not nice things, but at this point she's been written into the part of pawn in Fina's game. She was resolute about leaving La Ermita, she loves Dam...but knows she can't win Dam. At this point I am willing to hope for a happy ending for her. Of course, that all depends on her actions in the coming weeks.

I'm glad that Guido has stepped into Kenia's place as most interesting character to watch.

And indeed, Anon207....exactly where is the money Paolo embezzled from Guido?

i could not have said it better... forget feudalism, Alfie has a dictatorship going... 'sot it be written, so it be done!' and noone seems strong enough to go against it, maybe just Dam until he gets caught in the web Flo will set up for him under Fina's guidance, i am sure.

  38. Guido doesn't even know yet that Paolo embezzled from him, right? Guido might not be a bad guy, but he seems to be a pretty bad businessman if his own brother can embezzle his company into ruin and he hasn't yet figured out why. But he sure looked fine in that apricot polo shirt from the other day, so he gets bonus points for that.

Sara, I hope Dam and Elisa wear their amulets all the time if that's what it takes to improve her style.

well, you might be on to something... last time they both saw the amulets on each other was that first kiss... then at wedding she had forgot hers... and those are the only times we have seen her dress nicely...
until last night... have to comment that both Elisa and Carmina were wearing orange tops... weird ... are they trying to make our screens look more orangy than normal?

  44. Karen:

Hello. I would love to join you at the poor Flo table. First of all she has been given little to do in this TN other than look smashing in her bandage dresses. That is so insulting to an young actress of her caliber. Really, writers? Altair may be beautiful, but the child can act. Give her something to do. I hope she really falls for the sweet Enrique.

Second, Damian is emotionally immature and bereft (nothing more could be expected, really) and he has treated Flo like a rare collectible doll, one to be occasionally taken out of its originally packaging and admired, only to be discarded when a more bright and shiny object comes along.

Now Eeevil Fina wants her to be a vessel for a nieto.

So, Prof. Karen, if you call the table together, we can sit with Flo and give her some good 'Art of War' advice.

I think that with a lot of help, Flo can take Fina, if she has us at Table Flo doing her strategy and puts together an on the ground team with Doc Tovar, Begoña, Enrique, Dam and Elisa. Paloma and Gael. That's how to get the job done!

Man, this is a Mission Impossible La Ermita style just waiting to happen. I like my plot a lot.

For you fans of gratuitous near nudity, we can make a lot of the plot take place around the cenote.

    Karen, what do you think?

  46. EJ, i bet Carlos would join your strategic team to help Flo out with Fina... i am not so sold on Flo yet being completely a victim, she was more than willing to get Dam via a faked pregnancy and did not move a finger to clean it up before Dam discovered it all. SO i am still not sold on her being worthy of recovery.
then again Dam and Elisa have been so wishy washy lately and Gael is one conflicted hormone-unstable guy as of late... so not sure we have others to root for at the moment other than Lolita and Loopy.

  47. Sandy--enjoy your guests and have tons of fun! I'm sure the crazy denizens won't be too far from where they are now when next you check in.

What I keep wondering, why is Alfi so keen on a grandchild, and so quickly? That wouldn't solve the issue of Gael's inheritance if that came to light? She hasn't exactly been mother of the year material so that she's craving being maternal in any way. or would she take said grandchild and turn them into a mini-me, disinherit her own son, and put everything on the kiddie she can control?

I also wonder, if they go the route of drunk/drugged Dam so Flo can get preggers, which I hate ( and why does it ALWAYS work after that one try? HMMMMMM?), who's going to do the drugging? Alfi never gets her hands dirty, can't see Flo doing it, would Alfi have the nerve to ask Gab? no way, no how would Dam do the horizontal with Flo otherwise. Well, I take that back...if he ever suspects Elisa of anything with anyone else, let's say Gael again, he immediately has fallen for the Flo eye-batting. I wouldn't think that would work a third time, but he can be really stoooopid at times like those.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I don't know if it is Alfi so keen on having a grandchild, or simply anything to keep Dam away from Elisa. I think Flor is a horrible alternative. I would never choose her for my son. No, I will not be sitting at her table anytime soon.
I can't believe Alfi, with all her Botox and beautiful clothes and good posture would even accept Flor, let alone plot to keep her around. It just doesn't jive.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Daisy, I think Paolo could be talked into a little light drugging. He's probably even tried it before, on underage girls.

And all Dam has to do is *think* he slept with her -- she can count on Quookie for the rest.

  52. Hmm...maybe...but then Begoney would forbid him to tell anyone. Because they are "a decent family"! And Alfie is her best friend! Etc.

Or maybe Paolo could blackmail him with something to do with Sabrina, and...oh, so many possibilities.

  53. Sara, I love these rat-a-tat recaps....your wayward boob observance (reminded me of how I kept bumping into kitchen drawers during pregnancy), the delicious replay of Carmina's take-down at the dinner table, and your litany of Dam Inconsiderate, Dam Pushy, Dam Formal, Dam Proposal, Dam Celibate and Dam Honorable...well it always makes me laugh. "Poor little twit" was another good one.

Now..another logical query? Why does Alfonsina want a "grandchild" that is not Dam's Seed? I mean if she's counting on Flor getting preggers by someone else and tricking Dam into thinking it's his, well that's no "nieto", that's a foster child. Why would she want to turn over the business to this little whelp, however innocent? 'Cause if Dam's blotto drunk or drugged, doubt he can get the job done.

Oh well...why do I even bother?

Love the recap and all the comments and yes, I too have been intrigued with "salir con su domingo siete". Would love to know the origin of that quaint expression.

  54. Sara, my.favorite online dictionary.is NovelaMaven.

  55. "Salir con su domingo siete" comes from a story by Maria Isabel Carvajal about some witches in the woods and a man hoping to get in on some good luck who crosses them and is punished. Kind of a leap from that to being pregnant, but by way of "unintentionally getting yourself into trouble" it makes sense.

    ReplyDelete
  56. You know, sometimes I just smile as I read our comments and realize what the heck we are talking about...murders, embezzling, drugging galans, who's going to lay who to get a pregnancy going...yes, the wonderful world of watching TN's. Cracks me up.

Never thought of Paolo getting involved in the pregnancy plot. He certainly doesn't like Dam, does love the little princess, and apparently no real love loss with brother. So for the right price maybe he would work with Alfi to pull that off. Wow, this is going to have to take some tag-teamwork to pull off.

In the meantime, they really need to get Kenia to surface, literally. Please tell me they aren't going to let everyone think she just left town with no word to anyone for weeks!. I mean, Gael, sweetie, start wondering where 'sis went. This is not like her to just disappear.

Why does Alfonsina want a "grandchild" that is not Dam's Seed? I mean if she's counting on Flor getting preggers by someone else and tricking Dam into thinking it's his, well that's no "nieto", that's a foster child.
right... i seriously doubt Fina wants a 'nieto' that is not really her blood 'nieto'... what she wants is for Flo to really go after Dam... a end up preggers with a REAL ARANGO... otherwise i doubt Fina would even look at this kid... She wants Flo to get her moves on Dam, Fina is taking care or trying to take care of separating Dam from Elisa, but she needs Flo to be there for catching Dam's fall... whether this happens by drugging him or not, i think Fina would not accept a 'nieto' with no Arango blood.

  62. R la O, you shouldn’t encourage me. I have enough trouble controlling myself as it is. :D

I found this possible etymology here: http://www.illac.com.mx/profiles/blogs/cuando-sales-con-tu-domingo-7

(In the case of “domingo 7”, there’s an old children’s rhyme behind it, explains Luis Fernando Lara Ramos, professor and researcher ...

It went “Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday, three; Thursday and Friday and Saturday, six” and then it would start over. But there was always someone who would ask “And Sunday, seven?” which made the others scold that person for saying something inopportune (ie for breaking the rhythm), says Ramos.

Other versions refer to an old story. Its protagonists are two young ladies. One of them recited the verse and the other interrupted her, spoiling the rhythm. For that reason, a witch (say, Alfonsina) or a dwarf (say, Horacio) punished the second girl with a pregnancy.)

  68. Thanks Sara. Very funny and very entertaining.

Although I thought Augusto was a bit harsh with Carmina, I was delighted to see him acting almost human last night. I agree that it is strange for him to even consider allowing a marriage between Damien and Elisa.

I really don't like the direction that Florencia's story is taking. I was pleased with her resolve early in the evening, but did not like seeing her cave in to Alfonsina.

I love that Alfy bullys Paolo and Gabino but it breaks my heart to see her zero in on Guido and Flo.

  69. Sara - I just got home and had a chance to read your recap. Woot! and Squee! , indeed. A perfect title. What a hilarious recap, and I was guffawing out loud. Thank you! Especially because I could not understand all of what Gab & Paolo were negotiating, like the forgery part and that P ran G's business into the ground.

Carmina had the Terrible, Horrible, No Good ,Very Bad Breakkie last night. Oh, that she would up and move to Australia!

Yep, old Fina has Guido by the you-know-whats and he doesn't seem to like being bossed around.

While Fina and Flo were having that conversation in the SUV, I kept wondering --- "What on earth is the driver making of this conversation?!?!"

Nasty old Fina wants a grandchild so that she'll have yet one more human that she can manipulate and control. Especially since she is losing control of Damian. We know this will backfire, but asking Flo to get preggers by ... ANYone? Gah.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Maybe Flo should get preggers by Gabino. Wouldn't that just get Fina's goat?

Nice that Fina has such a high opinion of her son that she thinks if Flo just bats her eyelashes at him he'll fall back into her trap, and without any armor even.

Sara, I think I forgot to thank you for this recap before...THANKS! Your writing is always delightful. I love your snarky Dam monikers.

  74. Sara, I always love your recaps! You did a wonderful job and with so many laughs!

I definitely think Begone-Ya is redeemable. She's just a gossipy twit. I like the doctor (even though he's a wimp sometimes) and I want him and Begone-Ya to be happy in the end.

What she needs is an attitude adjustment and something worthwhile to do--so she doesn't have time to waste gossiping. That's her main issue that I can see. She's not evil, she seems to love her kids and her husband. If they can "redeem" Shrieky in STuD, then surely Begone-Ya is worthy too!

I hate to see Horacio dig himself deeper. I realize that the best we can hope for with him is an honorable death, but still, I am rooting for him in a way.

I don't trust that Sir Toadhead will keep on being the loving daddy to Elisa. I think (hope) that by the end of the novela he'll realize what an ass he's been, but right now he's not to be trusted. However, I agree with whomever said that when Elisa bailed him out of jail, that seemed to earn points with him. Let's hope he doesn't forget this. I want him to survive and be a good dad to Elisa.

I also think Flo is redeemable. She's a conniving snot, but she's not so bad that she can't be turned around. Not so sure about Paolo, though. He hasn't killed anyone, so who knows, it could go either way with him.

I am relieved to know that Guido is not the one who is so incompetent with business. It was satisfying to see Guido rip Paolo a a new one last night, though I wondered what Paolo would do to retaliate. I guess it won't be anything violent--probably just embezzlement and pinning the blame on Guido, like others have suggested.

    ReplyDelete
  75. The Flo/Fina storyline is going to be good.

And I am really excited about the Paolo/Gab/ING power triad (as long as they don't have the same super-evil, vile vibe as the David/Vainy/Bruno triad in LQNPA)

    Thanks for the online dictionaries!

    ReplyDelete
  76. I guess I’ll put this out there…..As much as we all despise Carmeany, Assgusto’s public and private humiliation of her won no points with me. (To her credit, I think even Elisa was put off!) Added to the repeated violence (why isn’t Assgusto in jail for attempted murder of Edmundo? A whiskey bottle is a deadly weapon!), his behavior is psychopathic. The essential problem with the main plotline is why Elisa (and others) care so much for Assgusto. He needs to be in jail where he might get some help and not destroy any other lives.

  78. Doris, you asked "While Fina and Flo were having that conversation in the SUV, I kept wondering --- "What on earth is the driver making of this conversation?!?!"

Fina spent so much of that drive looking at Flo instead of the road, I figured any plot for a nieto would end up moot. Both women were bound to be either dead or brain injured when Fina ran the car off the road or collided with a big truck.

  79. Lovely, Sara! Thank you kindly for the recap as a whole and especially for "play date w/ the Tovar children" and a host of others as well.

Paolo- what a waste! He would be a good match for Vicky in Refugio. Oh well. Every TN has to have at least one utterly dissolute character.

I had a really random thought a while ago, to wit, we've been using "Assgusto" for quite some time without an appearance from Cindybin to chastise us. Gee, I hope she's OK. Maybe she just got her meds adjusted.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Mod Ant, very well said about Assgusto! Come over to the I Heart Lolita table for a drink on me, will you?

Sandy, will miss you, enjoy your guests amiga.

Mike, I think Cindybin wore herself out. Or maybe her head exploded.

Paolo is interesting. He tries to come across as an essentially harmless but worthless rake, money-spending playboy. In reality we know him to be a statutory rapist, an attempted violent rapist, an embezzler, a forger, and many other not-very-nice things. I think we have just seen the tip of the dirty iceberg with Paolo. Even Guido and Flo who know about the rapey bits doesn't seem to have a clue how nefarious and dangerous he is. I hope he does something mean and spiteful to the Evilinas.
