Weekend Discussion: Men In Uniform

I'm going to ask for some help here as there aren't a lot of novelas whose heroes (or villains) are military officers, cops, or other men who wear uniforms.  If anyone can think of any beyond this list, please assist with a link!  This entry will be considerably shorter than last week's, so there will be multiple photos of those gentleman who wear uniforms well.  Starting with.....

Sergio Sendel in La Esposa Virgen

Sergio Sendel in Amarte es Mi Pecado

Armando Araiza in Contra Viento y Marea

Mauricio Islas in Amor Real

Harry Geithner in Zorro, el Espada y la Rosa

Hector Suarez Gomiz in Zorro, el Espada y la Rosa

Luis Jose Santander in Pasion

Alejandro Avila as a villain in Duelo de Pasiones (could only find one of him in fatigues)

Pablo Montero as the hero of Duelo de Pasiones (if this is what it takes to get him to shave again I'm all for it)

Albert Estrella and Fabian Robles in El Equipo (the chick is Zuria Vega)

Guillermo Garcia Cantu in Camaleones

If anyone can find photos of Jorge Salinas in his police uniform from Dos Mujeres Un Camino I'd be grateful!

  1. ¡¡Guau!! Thanks, UA! Sergio does rock the epaulets, doesn't he? And Armando with his hair combed...what an unusual treat.

  2. Sergio does look very authentic in uniform, doesn't he?

I checked for pictures from other novelas de epoca but couldn't find any good ones. Brazil has a few that should have had great photos, but none appeared in my search.

A new thread I thought of for the future could be of the galas I see on Latele, which I don't think most of you get. There are two in particular I think you'd all appreciate.

  3. That Geithner is a bit of all right. He's got kind of a Nic Cage thing goin' on.

  4. Oh, wow, thanks UA. Really like Sergio Sendel in his uniform. He does rock the epulets. Really like Harry Geithner too. Pablo Montero wow too. I hope they do a period piece again someday. Those uniforms rock!

  5. UA, very nice.

Guillermo Garcia - my favorite villain - was in police uniform in Camaleones: http://www2.esmas.com/entretenimiento/telenovelas/camaleones/elenco/081029/augusto-ponce-leon

  6. What I couldn't believe at the time was that Pablo gave up the chance to be in Amor Real to do Rebeca! I couldn't figure out why unless he wanted to hang out in Miami for a while or didn't want to lose the girl to Fernando Colunga again. But he would have looked fabulous in that uniform.

There are so many actors who have never done novelas de epoca and I have to wonder why.

  7. Thanks, UA. I'm a sucker for a man in uniform - heck I went so far as to marry one!

  8. Sergio seems to have a gift for looking good in a uniform. In LEV, he was even on horseback in a uniform. That was a double whammy.
Loved him in Amarte es Mi Pecado.

  9. And there was no photo of Sergio i the dress white uniform for the wedding that didn't happen. That was disappointing.

  10. Mmmmm - thanks for Araiza looking so delicious in his whites!

Captain John Foreman may have been a bit "extra-legal" as an official British corsair, but he is definitely wearing a uniform! Luis José Santander as Captain John Foreman in Pasión

  11. Thanks UA! :-)

I got a huge kick out of Captain John Foreman, and I'll never forget the swashbuckling swordfight at the pirate's banquet scene!

  12. UA, love your "Men in Uniform" project.

Geithner was very good in Zorro, but alas, he was the bad guy.

Does Zorro's black outfit count as a uniform?

    Rosemary Primera?

  13. UA--Your new gallery is fantastico. Gracias for all your work (or was it a pleasure).

What do you think of having a gallery of honest doctors--Fabian Robles played Dr.Felipe in STuD. We need to find them in their white coats or their scrubs. We *might* be able to include Fernando Colunga in the same tn for saving Valentina's life sucking the snake venom from her leg and tying it up with his ripped off shirt, EH? Ernesto, of course, Dr. Bermudez from ENDA, Dr. Palacios from Sortie. There must be plenty of others, maybe not handsome or young, but honest.

Carlos would like this. Or, how about some nurses (fake or otherwise).

  14. Good thought, Anita. That also includes some from novelas de epoca. I'll make a list.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Aarón Díaz from Teresa! There were plenty of nurses in that one, too.

  16. If I can find good photos would you also like a gallery of the great weddings? Years ago there was a clipfest program featuring the most gorgeous weddings of the season with the 1993 Corazon Salvaje as the big feature.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Weddings, yes!!!

What do you think about making this a semi-regular Friday feature, UA? Coz weekends are slow, and it's nice to have something to comment on...

  18. I'm going to be thinking about various gallery themes en route to a BBQ this afternoon.

    ReplyDelete
  19. UA how about pirates? Weren't there a couple of pirate themed TN's. That would be cool.

  20. Dr. Tatas was a good doctor from CME, albeit horny.

    Remember our poem?
We did it once, on a desk, I didn't even take off my socks.....

    ReplyDelete
  21. RLO--so funny you reminded me of the "group" poem. We kept adding lines. It is archived, but it has also been memorialized for evva in cyberspace on Google+ La Plaza de Caray.

Doctors of both sexes, nurses--anything medical.

Bring on the weddings. Remember Valentina in her red-trimmed ranchero dress singing at her own wedding?

  22. If anyone missed this and would like a refresher--Here is the whole poem (about Dr. Tatas and Jeronimo's coupling)

Ode to Marina or Third Rate Romp

As the moment for our union drew nigh,
on your desktop we decided to lie.
    You pulled up your skirt,
    I unbuttoned my shirt,
but didn't even loosen my tie.

    It was once,
    after a kiss,
in your office with the door ajar,
    on your desk,
after hours with the lights on.

I didn't even mess up my hair,
nor did we knock any files off the desk,
and the whole time I was just mentally composing
my shopping list for the ranch supply store,
    while blogging and crocheting beanies,
and I was still wearing my socks.

    My car was running
    and the radio was playing
    Third Rate Romance.

    I know that I've made a mistake,
I'm sorry our coupling did take,
but you know I love Nata,
    so shouldn't you oughta
    move on with your life,
    for Chrissake.

  23. OMG that is too funny. I must have come in too late to hear it the first time.

  24. Hahahahahaha! Thanks, Anita! I remember the weekend we got that magnum opus compiled! Thank you for reprinting it and getting it memorialized.

I just got an update sent to me on my Facebook page from "Telenovelas" that they had updated their cover photo, so I clicked on and there is Sylvia Navarro and a horse and a handsome guy who I am sure you all know. It's a picture for AMOR BRAVIO!!!!!!!! Do we know when it's starting? Vivi? Marta?

Yes, I added "telenovelas" on my Facebook under favorite tv shows. I also put CME on there, even though it's over, and if that isn't hanging on to the past, how about that I also put on Knot's Landing? lol Now THAT'S a show I'd buy the DVDs for, but they refuse to come out with them. Aaaaargh!

  25. Oh, no, we have another Camila--how are we going to distinguish the two. And we have a Daniel.

Can't Televisa come up with something more original than a couple of recycled Venevision names? Harrumph.
    Anita

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think they do a terrible job on names. It's as if they have a list of about two dozen and just keep recycling them.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Or what about those series where there are too many names with the same initial? There were too many "A" names in Alborada. Very confusing.

    ReplyDelete
  28. We had Renata, Roberta and Regina in CME, but of course there had been a sale on "R" necklaces. And wasn't Gero's dead brother Rafael?

    ReplyDelete
  29. thanks UA! i absolutely die whenever I see sergio in that uniform from la esposa virgen. I remember there's a part en la entrada where Virginia is getting off the train, and sergio kind of gives her a sidelong look, makes me melt everytime! thought that TN had good music as well

  30. jlk--I'm watching LEV right now on-line. You are so right. Sergio is always spit and polish; Jorge is a bit scruffy, despite being a doctorcito and the municipal president (and a robotrenes).

    Adela is just, well, classic.
    Anita

    ReplyDelete
  31. I meant rumpled--his clothes always look as though they are two sizes too big. But both he annd Sergio do sit well on a horse.

    ReplyDelete
  32. RLO--Don't forget Roberto who started it all in CME by impregnating Fina and Regina at the same time!!!
    Anita

    ReplyDelete
  33. really anita?? so am I! I started watching them online sometime ago, but kind of lost interest & got busy. I started watching again because I wanted to see how it ended (well I kind of know already, but want to see it play out)

can believe I forgot about those clips with sergio in uniform on a horse , oh yes that also makes me melt!

  34. Armando Araiza and Ricardo Margaleff were police in Llena de Amor. Mike Biaggio was a handsome policeman in Un Gancho al Corazón.

    ReplyDelete
  35. And those last two are in Amorcito right now! But not in uniform.
