Lo Refrito
We are treated again to a crying, pathetic Pal and an abuela who assures her it's not the end of the world. Pal insists that it is. We also get to relive the creepy preparations made by Alf. Drunk Dumbian (kid, you got a future in recapping) stumbles home. Flor attacks. Toad and Elisa talk. She gets herself penciled onto Cyn's Dumb Chicks List by suggesting that Carmina is redeemable. Toad head gives his approval of Elisa and Dumbian's relationship...even though it is going to mean Elisa gets a MIL from hell.
Lo Nuevo
Witch Mountain
Paloma is no where to be found! Ramona calls and calls, but alas, Paloma does not answer.
Casa Arango
Flor is convinced they can fix their problems.Flor is willing to do anything to get Dumbian back. He wants her to prove she loves him and that she can get Elisa out of his system. Flor obliges and is pretty sure her lips, caresses and body can help him forget.
Casa Lupe's
Ramona is looking for Pal and she's pithed thinking that Pal is there. She finds out Gael and Pal broke up. Gael offers to help look. Ramona tells him to stay away from her granddaughter.
...But the next morning at the Cenote
Ramona is in a panic when Gael shows up. Pal was gone all night and Ramona has no idea where she is! Out of the corner of her eye Ramona sees the floating body of Kenia. Gael swims out to investigate while Ramona panics. Gael confirms the woman is dead. Lots of screaming from Ramona (Note: Vestuario was very careful to dress Pal in red on Friday and Kenia is also wearing red. Kudos.) Gael explains that the body is in bad shape and it can't be Paloma. It's in such bad shape he can even ID the body. The authorities need to be called.
Don Lucio's
Turns out Pal went looking for Elisa last night at Don Lucio's, but since it was so late he offered to let her stay at his house. Lucio tells Pal to talk to Elisa about why she went back home. Pathetic Pal whines about being in love with someone who doesn't return the feeling.
Padre Lupe's
Elisa comes looking for Dam. Padre lets her know he's back at Casa Arango. She asks Padre if he told Damian the truth, but of course he didn't do something as plot advancing too fast as that. He figured it was Elisa's right to do that. She knows Padre Lupe convinced Carmina to tell truth; how did he know? He didn't KNOW KNOW he just, you know, intuited it. Steffie was such an exemplary woman incapable of betraying ToadHead. ToadHead was the love of her life. She loved him until her last moment. He offers sweets and encourages Elisa to go see Dam and Casa Arango. He'll be SO HAPPY to see her. Yeah. Right. I saw the avances.
Casa Arango
Tonia wants to know if she should wake the children. Alf tells her not to disturb them and that they are back together. When Tonia notes that Flor and Damian were TOGETHER, Alf chides her. It's not like their sleeping together were a sin (weeeell, what would Padre Lupe say??) Today things are very different and besides, they are back together. Tonia is just as gobsmacked as Viewerville at the speed in which those two resumed the knocking of the boots. She promises to be discreet and not tell anyone. Alf, however, would like Tonia to flap her gums and wag her tongue from La Ermita all the way to the DF. Word must get out!
Blanquita's Carnicería (That is just so.damn.wrong.)
Carmina slaps the mutton out of Horacio's chops. She is pithed that not only are the plane tickets not in her possession, but Gab laughed at her (oh! the nerve!) She threatens to tell Lola the truth about Horacio and Horacio threatens to tell the truth about the plane tickets to Disgusto.
Road in the Vicinity of La Ermita and Witch Mountain
Quique encounters Paloma alone and crying. He offers her a ride and we finally get to see some chemistry with Pal and a guy. GAEL IS NOT FOR YOU, CHICK!
Casa Arango
Elisa insists on seeing Dam. Tonia tries to get rid of her by offering tell Dam she was there and suggests he meet her somewhere (anywhere!) Elisa says it's urgent she talk to Dam. Tonia offers to get Dam while Elisa waits outside, but they are interrupted by the ever-so-helpful Alf who draws a map so Elisa can go to Dam's room at the end of the hall. Wasn't that sweet of her? Hell no. Just as the avances showed us, Elisa happens upon Dam and Flor post en flagrante delicto. Did you notice Tonia's face? She's starting to really see how evil her patrona is!
Casa Arango-Dining Room
Tonia doesn't think what Alf did was very nice. Alf disagrees. She's finally solved the Elisa problem. Elisa enters and Alf asks if she got to see and talk to Damián. Alf offers to wake him. Elisa turns down the offer and asks Alf not to tell Dam she was there. For once Alf is going to respect someone's wishes. Elisa leaves and Alf instructs Tonia to tell the driver to be ready to take her to Mérida.
As Elisa leaves (weeping) she runs into Gab who drops the "I'm buying Cielo Abierto" bomb.
Meanwhile in the recámara of revolting reconciliations Flor thanks Dam for last night. She asks if he remembers what he said to her: that he needed her and that Elisa was nothing to him. Dam asks For to forgive him, but she says there is nothing to forgive him for. He says he and Elisa are an impossibility. Flor leaves and Dam looks for the amulet.
Street La Ermita
Gael happens upon Elisa and mistakes her as a streetwalker from behind...no not really...she's just dressed that way. What really happened was Gael asked if Elisa knew where Pal was. She hasn't been home all night and there was this body floating in front of the hut and it was icky and swollen and horrible and *shudder*. Elisa thinks it must have been terrible.
Casa Arango-Alf's Den
Dam wants to know where his amulet is. Alf plays innocent. He leaves to go to the Pro Ce and Alf tells him she is glad he is rebuilding his life and hopes he rebuilds his relationship with Flor. Alf gives him the engagement ring.
Back in the Casa Arango-Kitchen
Gab comes in, sloppily eats an apple and asks Chente Inútil how's it going with the ladies. They talk trash about the ladies and Chente hints that he knows there used to be something between Gab and his mother. Gab says there was nothing more than a few kisses. Oh and how convenient, Brau overhears it!! He bursts in and challenges Gab to say it again to his face.
Casa Arango Pool
Flor and Dam at breakfast. He gives her the ring and says they must marry ASAP(check out his face...happy is not the word.) After the commercial break Flor notes his misery and he explains all the great reasons they should get married: it's a knee jerk decision made in the aftermath of learning a horrible truth about the one he loves and he needs to cling to something so as not to sink (I took a little licence.) Flor gets that, but she needs certain assurances that Dam won't go running back to Elisa. He finally tells Flor that Elisa is his hermana. Flor is thrilled.
In the kitchen Brau is still pithed and want to get into it with Brau. Chente Inútil tells Brau Gab can best him in a fight. Tonia comes in and throws metaphoric water on the fighting dogs. Brau makes Gab leave. Brau confonts Tonia about what he heard.
CSI Laguna Azul
Kenia's yet to be identified body is taken away in a body bag. Ramona talks to the CSI investigator and asks where they are taking the body (to the morgue.) She rehashes the why and how of the discovery of the body. The officer confirms that the woman they found has been dead for several days. Ramona then starts to ask about finding Paloma when Pal and Enrique walk up. Pal is mortified and thinks Ramona called the cops and the ambulance because of her. Ramona is glad to see Pal, but then mad at her for spending the night with Quique. Quique swears he just gave her a ride (and I bet inside he was praying he wouldn't get turned to a toad.) Pal explains she was with Don Lucio and Ramona explains about the dead woman.
Filler Pro Ce Scene
ING comes to see Gab. Maru asks about her daughter. ING tells Maru her daughter left a week ago.
Back to Brau
He is pithed. Chente says he lied. Brau asks why and Chente says it was wishful thinking. Gab is the bomb. Chente is very insulting and tells Brau he's nothing and he would give anything to have a dad like Gab. THWAP! Brau hits Chente. Chente's rag looks just like his dad's (meaning Gab's.)
Ramona's Hut
Gael and Elisa have arrived. Pal is very cool to both. Elisa wants to talk to her, but Pal tells her she doesn't want to and has to go to work. Gael offers to walk her and she turns him down. Exit Pal. Ramona tells Gael again that she doesn't want him near her granddaughter. She tells him to leave and not come back. She tells Elisa to stay because she wants to talk to her. And it's a good thing I record LQNPA too or I wouldn't have the last 5ish minutes of tonight's episode because Looneyvision's scheduling monkeys SUCK!
*ahem* Anyhoo....Ramona tells Elisa about Gael and Pal's break up. She tells Elisa that Pal hurts when she sees Gael with Elisa and Gael hurts when he sees Elisa with Gael. Elisa better do something about the situation (what the heck does Ramona expect her to do?)
Casa Arango
Alf gives Gab a check for the deposit on Casa Abierto and tells him to deposit it in his name so there are no suspicions. She's on her way to Mérida and as she leaves she tells Gab that Dam is back in charge. Gab grits his teeth.
Outside the house Alf is met by Flor who shows her the ring. Alf is even surprised how fast that happened. Flor tells her that Dam says it's urgent they marry soon. Flor wants to know why Alf didn't tell her about the sibling business sooner? Alf tells her she didn't know, either and is was quite a nasty surprise. Flor thinks that now she won't have to have child, but Alf disagrees. It's still imperative that Flor get pregnant. She wants a grandchild...now! And a child is the perfect weapon for keeping a man (day-um Rosendo must have been one miserable guy!) Flor fires back that it sure didn't work with Rosendo. He left her for another woman even though she had a child. Alf says Dam is very different, she made sure of that. Flor tells Alf to get her dad out of jail and she needs money. Alf reminds her that her dad stole her money and she'll have to wait. If Flor wants money, she needs to pray she made a baby last night. Holy crap this woman is well-dressed hell on wheels!
Well thank you Sara because I DID miss the last five minutes. Harrumph. This was an excellent recap of a very good episode. I know you did Amorcito earlier today so I really appreciate you giving this one so much of your time.
ReplyDeleteGah!! Kenia finally floated to the surface and Gael is the one who swam out to her. Double Gah!!
I loved "recámara of revolting reconciliations". Good Lord how true!
Alfonsina is so very stupid. Imagine giving someone a check to cash in their name, then ruining their day by yet again pulling the carrot away from them. Does she truly expect Gabino to continue being her lap dog? Estupida!
What a great description of Fina, "well dressed hell on wheels". Yep, she just keeps rolling over people right and left. It's going to be great to finally see her get what she deserves. I hope she lives long enough to suffer.
Thanks Sara!!
Sara - Thank you for the great recap.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, shouldn't Gael have tossed his cookies when he touched the dead body and saw how decomposed it was? He shows promise and might have a future with a CSI team or as coroner.
I am sooo over the Tonia/Brau/Vicente/Gab-is-V's-father story. FFWD-->
Paloma really should have called Ramona to tell her where she was, overnight. Oh, wait, nobody has a phone… not even a cell phone. No sense in grounding her for the week.
Thanks so much Sara. I did catch the last five minutes but kept wondering why the heck it was going over. What a pain for recappers!!
ReplyDeleteI was just amazed at Speedy Gonzalez. er meant Dam, last night. I thought he might be all "Oh no, what did I do??" when he woke up, but no. Calm as a cucumber, not happy, but led one to believe maybe they did do the horizontal after all.
Then when his pimp, er I mean Alfi, offered him the engagement ring, I thought, no, he'll get all in momma's face that it's too soon, blah blah. But no, took it and GAVE IT TO FLOR ALREADY. I totally get he's hurting and upset, but take a breath boy! Take a few days, go to Vegas, go fishing...
These people really do need phones, but still think it wasn't so cool of Pal to not let Ramona know where she was. I love Ramona dearly, but I agree she was a little harsh with Elisa. You know she'll be harsh with Gael--she always has been, so that didn't surprise me.
Now speaking of our guy--oh my stars, I thought for sure we were going to get a flip side of Kenia, but thankfully they actually played it true about the state of the body. Still feel bad Gael had to be the one who found her when he realizes who it was.
Doris--I'm with you--wish they would park the creepy kid's papa story line. I can't stand that little snot. Heck I'm surprised Brau hasn't smacked him before this.
Wonder withthe whirlwind Dam/Flo engagement if we actually get a speedy wedding today or tomorrow. They sure were skimpy with the previews.
Early class so will have to read the recap later, but loved the wordplay of the title..."RISES to the surface, SINKS her claws in..." Nifty one, Sara!
ReplyDeletewhoops...FLOATS to the surface. Whatever. Great contrasting image!
ReplyDeleteSara, this is another of your clear, concise, funny recaps. A couple of
ReplyDeletemy favorites: [Carmina] "slaps the mutton out of Horacio's chops." Also, "Gael happens upon Elisa and mistakes her as a streetwalker from behind," so true! Thanks for writing such a fun recap on a fairly serious episode!
I finally watched Abismo in real time last night and couldn't believe how long and tedious the multiple commercials are, have they added more? I turned it off and watched the recording later so I could FF through what seemed like dozens and dozens of ads!
On Augusto and Elisa (Friday), we have to give "Toad" credit for wanting the opportunity to "be the father he should have been" to Elisa, he didn't ask for forgiveness ( although she gave it to him) he wanted to do the WORK it takes for her forgiveness. Augusto has a RARE quality, the ability to admit a horrible mistake and try to sincerely make amends, many people in real life are still waiting for that moment with their "loved" ones! Cynderella, unlike the San Diego fire works, your recap was well planned and executed and yet another brilliant display of your talent!
Kathleen, have you noticed Sara's rear end in Maid? Does she have implants? I was watching the program then quit for the same reasons you mentioned.
Gael would have to be quite the athlete to get on the horse with Elisa sitting on the back, to bad we missed that!
Sandy in TN - you were right in Augusto redeeming himself with Elisa.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I never watch in 'real time.' I might start watching my recording fifteen or thirty minutes into the show, but the commercials are as bad as USA TV.
I will be very shocked in FloDam (or should it be DamFlo?) actually get married. Surely something will impede this.
Elisa's "vest", if you can call it that, was longer than her shorts. Well, I wore shorts that short when I was in college in the early '70s, but that is different from being in a telenovela. I think. Come to think of it, maybe not.
Thank you Sara for this wonderful recap, and for pulling double duty by also giving us the Amorcito recap. I love the title too.
ReplyDeleteSo, finally Kenia pops up. How will they identify her? I don't think she was carrying any id on her. Yes, very clever of the wardrobe folks to dress Paloma in that red top. We learned how Paloma's mom died when Ramona freaked out about it happening "again", thinking Paloma had drowned herself after being rejected by the man she loves (Gabino), like her mom did.
Paloma and Quique. Great looking couple. Once he finds out Flor's evil plans for his sister's baby, he will never forgive her.
Correction: Gabino being the man her mom loved, not Paloma.
ReplyDeleteits me martaivett
ReplyDeleteThank you Sara! Great recap! Totally agree on your comments.
The moment of Gael finding the body, I was afraid of the same thing, him looking at the face and recognizing Kenya…
Also when Elisa found Gael on the streets, totally agree on Daisynjay’s comment, Gael must have some real athletic ability if he can get on the horse saddle with Elisa behind it.
And also, that was another ‘Gold Bond’ moment, since Elisa had her shorty shorts on.
Ramona and Pal… Pal ranting at Ramona for bringing the CSI cops in less than 12 hrs after she had disappeared… well, Pal, let me tell you, you are not ALL THAT… but I totally agree that she and Quike have lots more chemistry than her with any other guy on the show. Now I am really rooting for them to be together at the end, even though I have a feeling Gael is very mixed up in his head and heart, since he admitted to Padre he is REALLY attracted to Paloma but voices that he loves Elisa… I think the Elisa issue is just ‘costumbre’ of being close by to her with no other guy showing face to defend her.
Other quotes I loved on your recap:
ReplyDeleteWell starting with the title… dead on!!
Kenia Floats to the Surface while Flor Sinks Her Claws into Dam
Pathetic Pal whines about being in love with someone who doesn't return the feeling.(and I say that is the better reason for her to understand Gael’s feelings).
She promises to be discreet and not tell anyone. Alf, however, would like Tonia to flap her gums and wag her tongue from La Ermita all the way to the DF. Word must get out!
At the recámara of revolting reconciliations (what can I say? Sidebar worthy!)
Gael happens upon Elisa and mistakes her as a streetwalker from behind...no not really...she's just dressed that way. … (Pal) hasn't been home all night and there was this body floating in front of the hut and it was icky and swollen and horrible and *shudder*. (and the Gold Bond moment)
he explains all the great reasons they should get married: it's a knee jerk decision made in the aftermath of learning a horrible truth about the one he loves and he needs to cling to something so as not to sink (I took a little licence.)
a child is the perfect weapon for keeping a man (day-um Rosendo must have been one miserable guy!) Flor fires back that it sure didn't work with Rosendo. He left her for another woman even though she had a child. Alf says Dam is very different, she made sure of that.(that sounded to me like a line from Sofia about Andres in CS ’93)
Holy crap this woman is well-dressed hell on wheels (or hell on heels?)! (ABSOLUTELY! Another side bar worthy phrase)
Damian is a fool. Florencia is a bottomless pit of need and the Botox Queen is a vampire.
ReplyDeleteThis guy is too stupid to breed, along with Rod the Bod in Refugio.
Sara: Thank you for terriffic recap.
ReplyDeleteGabino is really a multi-tasker. He can chew gum and eat a piece of fruit at the same time.
Quique has turned out to be a real stand-up guy. He started out as a mid-level jerk. But, he has supported Flo - financially and emotionally, he stood up to his mother and helped his father, he even stood up to Alfonsina, and now he shows up for Paloma. And, he's handsome, too. This man has a future.
So, Carmina and Horacio are at a Mexican standoff. Both are evil. At least Horacio is trying to protect Lolita while Carmina always protects herself.
Doris - right - FFWD through the Tonia/Braulio/Vicente/Gab scenes.
There was lots of learning last night:
ReplyDeleteWe learned Dam is Dam Stupid.
Ramona learned Gael dumped Paloma, and Gael learned Paloma ran away from home.
Lucio learned Paloma is pathetic.
Gael & Ramona learned the dead woman in the cenote has been dead for a while *yuk*
We learned Kenia has been gone (dead) a week.
Elisa learned Dam slept with Flor.
Toña learned Alfie is a straight up witch.
Carmina learned Horacio is inept.
Elisa learned Augie is selling the land to Gabino.
Braulio learned Toña & Gabino had a thang goin' on.
Chente learned what a pimp slap feels like.
Florencia learned she better steal Sabrina's baby soon, or all is lost.
I learned I am still on Team Enrique, and Paloma should be too.
Observations:
How will they identify Kenia?
If Alfonsina has this limitless reserve of money, how come she just didn't use her personal funds to buy Florencia's BMW? Why was she using PRO CE SA DO RA funds to buy Flor a car?
Damian will find out the truth about Elisa's DNA but it will be too late b/c Flor will have the baby lie #2 well under way...and this time she didn't have to coerce him into proposing/staying engaged.
If Ramona can see that Damian/Elisa are "endgame," why is she telling Elisa she needs to do something about Gael? It's not Elisa's fault Gael is obsessed with her, he has been for at least 15 years.
Elisa gave us a nice crotch shot as she mounted the horse. I guess this happens when you wear booty-cutter shorts.
Anon207- Great list as always. Can we add that we learned how Pal's mama died to the list?
ReplyDeleteSo what are they serving at the Quique table? I'm getting tired of wandering around the patio with my sad little pitcher. People are starting to drop coins in it.
ReplyDeleteROFLOL Blue!!good one!.
ReplyDeletei am definitely heading over to Quique's table... after i have my first round at Lucio's table.
Hey everyone! Thanks for reading!
ReplyDeleteCan I just say how scared I was as the show went 5 minutes over? I was so afraid it was going to be one of those cases where Looneyvision decided to run a 1 1/2 hour-2 hour episode with no warning. I was so happy to see Elisa walking down the street in that low cut white number!
Ramona said she couldn't believe that she was living the same nightmare again that her daughter/granddaughter had both died because of a "mal amor". I got the impression that the sentiment was more about bad love choices than that Pal's mom had died the exact same way.
...but of course it is more interesting to think that yes, Pal's mom did die the same way. Could Gab have offed her in much the same way Carmina offed Kenia?
ReplyDeleteAnon207 - re: Alf using ProCe funds to buy Flo's car, I have always assumed it would be "a company car" as a way to write it off on taxes. Granted, that is The American Way (LOL) but maybe Mexico is the same.
ReplyDeleteBlueLass - ROFLOL!!!
Sara - I wish someone would off Carmina in much the same way.
ReplyDeleteHeading to the QuiQui table now!! He has turned out to be quite the nice guy. And I agree, I do like he and Pal together so much better. Then just seem to fit where I felt Pal and Gael was more forced. It could have been Tacher's believable acting at being uncomfortable in the relationship, but still like the dark-haired kiddies together better.
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention this morning, have we ever seen Alfi smile so much in an episode? She was positively floating with glee last night. Bless her corrupted little heart.
Bless her corrupted little heart.
ReplyDelete---
I don't know if they put quotes from comments on the sidebar, but this one needs to be there! It's awesome.
Alf was indeed giddy last night...that is until the end when Flor got cocky. And when Alf almost smacked Flor's belly (did she make contact) I got a little creeped. I don't thin Alf is wanting a grandchild for snuggles and this little piggy's. She have a very objectified view of it. Ugh. I'm not making sense. It's just a pawn in her personal chess game? Maybe that's what I mean?
Sara, yep I agree about Alf and her nieto. She wants to use it for leverage, not to dandle on her knee. Because that's how she raised Dam stupid (according to her). I love how she gave that little flick to Flor's belly; I'll bet that was Blanca's personal touch. She loves to give those dismissive flicks with her hands, her fan, pieces of paper, whatever.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sara. I think your title is wicked genius. It made me laugh and go EEEWW at the same time. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteAnd, like the Cap'n, I love your line, "...well dressed hell on wheels..." for Alfonsina. Brilliant.
Daisynjay: you said it best about horrrid Chente, "I can't stand that little snot".
Thanks, again, Sara, for a fine recap.
EJ
OH those dismissive little flicks!!!
ReplyDeleteThis woman has got to be the most contemptible character I have witnessed (remember, I am new to the TN scene.) I think what drives me the most crazy is that she is so convinced that she is so darn right and above everyone else. And her twisted morality which changes to suit her needs. She hooks up Tonia with Brau because a maid of HERS can't be unwed and pregnant, but please Tonia let everyone know that my son and Flor are doing the horizontal mambo.
I find myself wondering about the story that began long before this one. I want a TN about Steffie, Disgusto, Rosendo and Fina.
ReplyDeleteEJ-I would love a little character analysis of Fina. Did she have low self esteem when it came to Rosendo and that's why she hates Steffie (her competition) so much? Why is she such a control freak. Why did she continue to make Rosendo's life hell even after they wed?
Would Rosendo have remained faithful to Stef? I mean, he's got TWO children running around La Ermita.
Clearly I think about this show too much.
Sara:
ReplyDeleteCharacter analysis of Fina and Rosendo? Happy to try this exercise in cinematic imagination, but, do you mind if I work it into tonight's recap? I am writing my outline right now and time it s bit tight today.
Pls let me know.
Abrazos,
EJ
Oh of course! Take your time. I didn't meant it had to be immediate. We have plenty of episodes left to discuss the couture hell on wheels.
ReplyDeleteSara asked "Would Rosendo have remained faithful to Stef?"
ReplyDeleteI think not. Based on my observations over the years people are who they are, even when they get to blame someone else for being able to do naughty things. Both Rosendo and Augusto were courting Stef. She chose Augusto because she was more in love with him. Maybe she sensed or knew that Rosendo was a player. Then again maybe not.
Well, that's the limit of my alleged expertise. I haven't a clue on what makes Alfonsina tick. I'll leave that for the expert(s). It's fun to talk about though. The adjective "uptight" comes to mind.
Well, I was intrigued by your question Sara. Here's my take on it: While happy to have wooed and won Estefania, Rosendo, being a guy and the big cheese in town, would have a certain sense of entitlement.
ReplyDeleteAnd once wedded bliss turned to wedded blahs (as it can after three years or so) he'd start looking for a little snap, crackle and pop elsewhere.
After all, a lot of folks who are "happily married" still have affairs...adds some zing and intrigue to their everyday-- to work and then home life.
Not condoning this destructive behavior. Just observing it.
So he'd have his little side of chile pepper with the likes of Ingrid or Carmina, but he would NOT leave Estefania or his child for one of these floozies. He'd still love Steffie. Still want to preserve his cozy home life.
But a little howlin' at the moon from time to time would suit him down to the ground.
Ah Sylvia...our comments crossed. And I see you basically had the same take on R. that I did. Not off to bake an apple crisp for a friend's birthday.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sara, what a great episode to recap. Lots of action.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that DamFlo are back together. I can't stand DamLisa. DamFlo deserve each other and Sabrina's baby will look good with them as parents.
Kenia may have ID on her. Carmina didn't take the time to clean her up after she whacked her. But more likely, she'll have some jewelry or birthmark that will tell it's her.
Hee, it looks like JudyB and I are on the same page, but hers is colorfully illustrated. Way to describe it amiga.
ReplyDeleteJudyB, I love apple crisp!
ReplyDeletecathyx, very funny comment about how annoying DamLisa are.
I'm sure Ingrid will be able to ID the body. Like cathyx says, jewelry, birthmark, hair, clothes. Yuck.
Big guess: Alfonsina was a younger daughter of a once-rich family who had to settle for a self-made man who had enough brains to make serious money and enough good genes to give her a handsome, healthy son.
ReplyDeleteI think it's significant that she has no extended family in the area and that she trusts no one at all. Was she ashamed of marrying Rosendo? Does she know she was a consolation prize?
She's screwed up big time.
Sara, Thanks for another thoroughly enjoyable recap replete with your distinctive wit and sense of irony. This was surely a heavy episode. I taped it while dashing off to my French class so have to agree with Doris, et. al. that this is best recorded so FFWD can get me through the endless commercials and even the less savory scenes. I did not enjoy the drunken sex/clinging sex scene with DamFlo although Flo does the nasty with such sensuality and the constant sneer at getting over on everyone. I hope someday Altair gets to show her beauty as a good and lovely person. And would someone please put stab a fork into Paloma so she will just scream for once and not whine into eternity.
ReplyDeleteAnother place at the Enrique table please. He's the only eligible bachelor who is in the least appealing right now. I hate to be mean (well not hate) BUT Gael has nearly earned the horror of being told the lump in the water that he couldn't bring himself to haul in is his hapless little sister. I know, I know he is just in training for CSI so didn't want to contaminate the crime scene... Puhleeeze.
Oh, and another thing: was anyone else gagging at the scene where Elisa comes in showing her beachballboobs half out of her negligee (notice her jackets are always way too small to cover her front) as she leans over her newly recognized FATHER's desk and chatting like a Brownie Scout at how glad she is to be with him. Good thing the ToadMan is in low hormone mode most of the time. That was nothing short of Skanksville.
ReplyDeleteI think Alfonsina & Rosendo were expected to marry each other, but he was never into her that much. I think he married Alfonsina after Estefania chose Augusto, and Alfonsina knows Rosendo would have gladly tossed her aside for Estefania and probably only stayed as long as he did for Damian's sake.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if Rosendo would have cheated on Estefania because I think he would have been very happy to have Estefania by his side. I think if he did cheat on Estefania it would have been with Carmina, and Alfonsina still would have been spreading rumors about Estefania.
Poor Henrique. Bumble still thinks Paloma is the other woman. Christmas dinner might be very awkward this year.
ReplyDeleteTo weigh in on Tonia. The woman looks like she's been in a 350 degree oven FOREVER. I can't stand looking at her bronzey arms and cleavage. Slap a jacket on her or baste her, or something.
Despite everything, I'm sticking with Gael. He's a dish-and-a-half, even when he wears plaid.
I like to think Rosendo would have remained faithful to Steffie, BUT he had a child with Alf (strong, b/witchy, conniving woman) and ING (conniving woman) and Carmina (straight up crazy bee-yatch.) He has a thing for mean and crazy. IMHO Steffie would have bored him to tears within months. I think he wanted Stef because Disgusto did.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap Anon3:27! Your "slap a jacket on her or baste her or something" is funny and so very true.
The fact that that Gabino seems to hold Rosendo in some kind of reverse respect, “He was great with the women” (my interpretation of his comments to Vincente) makes me think that Rosie would have given Steffe about three years (Judy’s estimate) and then been found on the cheatin’ side of town!
ReplyDeleteGreat recap Sara. Alf continues to boggle the mind in terms of how far she is willing to go to force what she wants. Wow! she hasn't beaten Bernarda - yet.
ReplyDeleteI think Padre Lupe said he hadn't had a chance to tell Dam the news. I think Dam cleared out before Padre went to confront Carnita - in fact I think it was Dam's clear intention to commit another estupidez ASAP that inspired Padre's fire and brimstone confrontation of Carnita (damn that was awesome). Dam Stupid didn't believe Padre when he told him in no uncertain terms that Steffie and Rosendo had never been lovers. He's so thick headed he probably wouldn't believe Padre about the "official" DNA evidence either.
Was making Rajas con Crema when watching this epi last night. Then put them in corn tortillas with black beans. Went perfect with the episode!
ReplyDeleteYet another terrific recap, Sara. Thanks so much. My favorite snicker:
ReplyDelete"He'll be SO HAPPY to see her. Yeah. Right. I saw the avances."
About now, I feel like I'm watching a Punch and Judy show -- the main characters are dummies whose strings are being pulled by someone else. And not very interesting dummies, I might add.
I did like seeing Toña show a flicker of human kindness. That's something we haven't enjoyed for a while.
Anyhoo, thank goodness for supporting players and subplots (not counting Peyos Girl of course.)
NovelaMaven!! Hurrah Hurrah! I am glad my offering pleased you.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for the subplayers and subplots indeed.
This is the third show where I am more interested in the subplots (the first being TdA Fer/Cruz; LFDD Antolin/Carolina)
"Not very interesting dummies" hahahahaha!!!
I was just thinking to myself that this is the third main couple that has bored me to tears as well -- Pedro/Camila in El Tal, Weepsa/Dumbian here, and, unfortunately, Fernando/Isa on Amorcito. They can only break up so many times before you just stop caring whether or not they get back together.
ReplyDelete"this is the third main couple that has bored me to tears as well . . . . . They can only break up so many times before you just stop caring whether or not they get back together."
ReplyDeleteBlue Lass - in my 10+ years of watching telenovelas, I have found this to generally be the case in 99.9% of them.
I'm a little lukewarm on Isa and Nando too. But he is nice to look at!
ReplyDelete"NovelaMaven!! Hurrah Hurrah! I am glad my offering pleased you."
ReplyDeleteYou silly girl. If we were Skyping, you'd see me wearing my SARA ROCKS t-shirt right this minute. I am (to steal shamelessly) a fan girl of yours.
"They can only break up so many times before you just stop caring whether or not they get back together."
Yes, Blue, that is indeed the Achilles heel of the Harlequin Romance extended with hamburger helper that is the telenovela. And it doesn't help when the protagonistas are so stoopid. :D
Oh wow Doris ... So I have years of milquetoast lead couples to look forward to? Lol
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing my NOVELAMAVEN ROCKS MORE tshirt. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's normal, then. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteNow I really, really, REALLY miss CME.
I so regret missing CME!
ReplyDeleteI think we don't care about Elisa & Damian being together because they are stupid:
ReplyDeleteDamian comes home from Italy, where he had been banished, and announces to Alfonsina that he's marrying Florencia. Then he sees Elisa walking down the street and is ready to throw everything away for Elisa. Why?
They decide to get married, even going to Merida to get blood tests, then come back to La Ermita to get married at Town Hall. Why? Why didn't they just stay in Merida & get married?
Augie shoots Damian. Elisa was 2 minutes from being his wife, but stayed away from him b/c of Alfonsina. Why? Why should I the view care about your love when you don't?
Then Alfonsina pays her (in Augie's bail) to stay away from Damian, and she does it, and hurts him. She was 2 minutes from being his wife, but didn't see fit to tell HIM what was going on. Why? Why should I care that you can't be with Damian when YOU don't?
Augie devises this scheme to get Elisa out of town. She agrees (not as a trick, but truly agreed). Only when Damian busted through the door to take Elisa away did Elisa say she wasn't leaving. If Damian hadn't come she'd be out of town with Augie today. Why should I care about your love for Damian when you were ready to leave him without a word?
Damian & Elisa are told they are brother & sister. Instead of going to Merida and getting DNA tests, both of them accept Augusto & Carmina's word for it, they both cry about how they can never be together. Why should I care about you being together when you don't even care enough to get a DNA test to see whether you are brother & sister?
So right now Damian & Elisa don't need to be together because they are stupid. Damian needs to stay with Florencia. Even though Flo is manipulative & a liar, she has put up a fight to be with Damian which is more than Elisa has ever done.
Elisa needs to get together with Gael and become the Lucia (LFDD) of La Ermita and Paloma needs to jump the Junior Tovar bandwagon.
That totally sums it up! Srsly Anon207, you need to consider recapping!
