'Nando, Isa and Manuela
Manuela and Ceci crash a celebratory dinner thrown by Zoe (who's living with Felipe now.) Manuela proposes a toast to her new job at 'Nando's company. 'Nando drops the "I'm not hiring you" bomb. Manuela runs off to the bathroom to freak out. Ceci and Felipe think 'Nando was harsh. Zoe was fine with it. Manuela spends the rest of the episode playing emotional blackmail. In a flashback we find out that she does have a history of deep depression and trastornos emocionales (emotional disorders) and that she feels like Sofia "took what was hers"; however, IMHO she is faking it for most of this episode. Because of Manuela's history, Horty is able to guilt 'Nando into hiring her (Isa helps to guilt him into it when she hears about Manuela's past and how much Manuela's disorder intruded on his marriage.) Manuela also plays Ceci like a Stradivarius.
Willy, Lucía and Beba
Beba continues to dream of her wedding with Willy. Horty tells Jorge about this "wedding" and her concerns that Beba is being taken advantage of. Willy calls it off with Beba and tells him he's madly in love with another woman. This breaks Beba's heart and she hits him with a vase and knocks him out. He recovers quickly. Willy really did seem repentant...thoughts? Opinions?
Later, Beba goes to visit Lucia. Willy also visits Lucia and tells her he wants to introduce her to his mom as his pre-novia. Beba overhears Lucia and Willy talking marriage (Lucia talks him into waiting and he respects that.) Beba gets very upset and in heart attack moment #1 Viewerville thinks Beba is going to tell all. She doesn't. Lucia, still misreading the situation tells Beba that true love will come knocking on her door one day.
Willy goes to Beba's house again and begs forgiveness again. Beba says she'll forgive him IF he confesses his past to Lucia. Willy says he will, but by the end of the episode he still hadn't.
Barbell (Thanks, Julia!), Marisogullible and Knuckles
Barbell is hanging out with Knuckles and talking to Mari-so-dumb on the phone. She is still feeding Mari-so-pitiful the ol' "Juancho is still pithed" line of bull. Barbell swears she'll keep working on behalf of Mari-so-stupid. Barbell hangs up and tells Kuckles she's doing her part to keep them apart, what is Knuckles contributing? I can't remember what he said and I forgot to make a note.
Jorge the Tool
Makes his mother think he'll be staying a little longer 'cause he loves her, but really it's just to keep his nose in her business. Jorge gets his thugs to kidnap Willy. They bring him to a secret location. Jorge threatens Willy's family and then the thugs beat Willy up and leave him in the dirt. After this little chore, Jorge heads to Isa's for a late night visit. He tells her how worried he is about people taking advantage of his mother. The next day he sends flowers to Isa's office. Can we say d*****bag on this blog?
Leo and G-mina
G-mina has decided to give Leo his tranquilizante* every 6 hours instead of every 8. Leo spends the rest of the episode loopy and sounding drunk. G-mina's plan is to get him to sign documents which I assume will give her all the money. He manages to call Isa and slur to her, but G-mina catches him and hangs up. Isa rushes over, convinced that something is up. G-mina had Leo hidden in, you guessed it....the closet. This was definitely not funny.
*would mean tranquilizer or anti-anxiety med? Pharmacist hub and I discussed this and he thinks with high blood pressure an anti-anxiety would be prescribed. Are we expecting too much of the TN medical community?
Heart attack moments #2 and #3
There was a scene with Lucia and Reina (and Reina's MC Hammer pants) and they were looking at a house with a Realtor. I missed exactly what Lucia said, but the Realtor seemed to indicate that Lucia's word was good as gold. Feel free to fill in my blanks, but I got a "something is going to go wrong" vibe. Heart attack moment #2 was when Lucia called Beba while she was eating lunch with Jorge. I thought for sure Beba was going to go back on her word (Heart attack #2 and how silly of me! Beba would never do that.) Then I thought for sure Jorge was going to be a putz about the money (Heart attack #3.) So far he's not.
The That's So Creepy Award goes to...
Whoever obliterated the "de Lobo" from Sofía's tombstone. Who could have possibly done that???
The Hubba Hubba Award goes to...
For the scene when Willy takes off his shirt for some medical care from Lucia. It ends in a kiss that is interrupted by Lala. I laughed out lout when Willy tried to cover himself.
Pitiful Vocabs
encajosa: bothersome by being demanding
te volaste la barda: you crossed the line (in the context it was said to Beba); but can also be You went over the top!
Ni fú ni fá: so-so; neither good or bad; The last time I had this I had it spelled without the accents. Who first brought this to my attention? I know it's on the UFCS list, but did you mention it, too Blue Lass? Anyway... I was thrilled that I recognized it. I'm learning!
agalles: guts
barbaján: boor
picarona: naughty
tunda: thrashing
Avnaces:
- Doris is back!
- Girl Fight!
- Escaleracide?
Julia: thanks for the info about when they did the LFMB re-runs. So as much as I would like the Sortilegio reruns to be the two hour show, I bet that won't happen. Oh well.
ReplyDeletePS: I'm adding "altoparlante" to the compounds list. I just read it today.
Thanks, Sara. I see bits and pieces of this one, so appreciate the 'cap. I also laughed when Willy tried to cover himself with his shirt. Don't know why, but I like Willy and Lucia and am cheering on their romance.
ReplyDeleteLa Paloma
Thanks for commenting La Paloma!
ReplyDeleteIMHO Daniel Arenas is STEALING this show. Grand Theft TN.
I went back and added Vocab and avances.
Bonus vocab that was never said on the show but I need help figuring out the English word:
ReplyDeleteFrom the RAE
pedigüeño(-a): From pedigón "Que pide con frecuencia e importunidad"
Encajosa was defined by the RAE as a Mexicanism that meant "Que molesta por pedigüeño o confianzudo"
So I get the Spanish, but can't come up with a quick, natural sounding translation of encajosa or pedigüeño. Help?
I may have just consumed a quad venti cinnamon dolce latte, hence the manic commenting.
Needy? Is it an adjective?
ReplyDeleteI get KIDNAPPING on my Bingo today?! Whoo! I mean, too bad Willy G gets beat up and all. But if he's got Lucia to give him some TLC, it's all good.
Grand Theft TN. Ha ha! Good one. He can ask Aaron Diaz what happens in the Caray Caray lockup to abtastic dudes convicted of that crime.
I didn't even think about the kidnapping bingo square. Woo hoo for all the folks with Kidnapping.
ReplyDeleteSara thanks for your recap. I hated Jorge and any names you want to call him are fine by me. He's so slimy and creepily controlling to all the women in his life. I can't wait 'til he gets unmasked.
ReplyDeleteITA Daniel Arenas is stealing the show. The ads for this show and his antics were what had me hooked. His character seemed to funny and a bit naughty and I'm glad the TN has been a great vehicle for him.
Why do TNs that are supposed to be comedies have frighteningly disturbing plots? Manuela is a nightmare and Zoe's situation with her ex and his blackmailing her isn't funny either. And Leo and his psycho/gold-digging girl-friend trying to drug/possibly kill him to get money or an apt? These plots can stop now.
Manuela's character is definitely psycho and doesn't seem to belong in this supposed romantic comedy.
ReplyDeleteAmorcito is a remake of a Venezuelan TN: Trapos Intimos. I just looked up Trapos and it doesn't look like there was any attempt to change much. All the character names seem the same at least (except for Sofia/Manuela.) I didn't read much because Wikipedia pages tend to have spoilers. Oh, and instead of architecture, the characters all work in the underwear industry...hence Trapos Intimos.
Doris' name on Trapos was Doris Day Montiel. HA! Have we been told our Doris' middle name?
Anyhoo, all the dark plots make me gaga over Willy even more. His story line and scenes with Lucia are like a breath of fresh air. I think that's why I like the Casa Hogar story so much, too. Yeah, it's serious business, but it's a positive plot line, you know?
"Cute" was one of the reasons I liked the Sarita/Leo plot, too. But that has gotten dark as well. Alfonso Iturralde (Leo) did a disturbingly good job of playing the drugged up dupe yesterday. I did not like it.
Sara - sponger, freeloader. my iPad dictionary had pedigüeño.
ReplyDeleteThank you! That was driving me nuts!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...so was it Manuela or Hortensia who removed the de Lobo from Sofia's marker?
ReplyDeleteI agree even if Manuela does have a history of serious mental illness, this time she was playing it up to get her way. If she'd really been depressed, she probably couldn't have worked up such a show of "WAH! I feel so BAD! I'm so UPSET!" and then gone and had a good time with Cecilio.
Well, I'm impressed with Beba. She didn't blame Lucia for what happened with Willy G, and she is going ahead with the casa hogar. What a refreshing change from the usual telenovela women scorned (or gently let down).
Sara according to Uni Mon episodes were 54-55.
ReplyDeleteI love any scene with Fernando trying to dance.
ReplyDeleteSo Zoe has now moved in with FFFFF? QTH? Isn't that rather hasty? She isn't even officially divorced yet, is she?
If Manuela is so hot to get with Fernando, why is she making the rounds of all his friends? That's just weird. This group is so full of cross-contamination.
My guess would be that Manuela is the tombstone violator. I just think Horty is too proper and obliterating a name on a tombstone is too BSC for Horty.
ReplyDeleteFernando dancing is almost painful to watch.
I really, really hope that Lucia's comment about love coming Beba's way is foreshadowing. Willy was right when he said she had such a big heart. I think he really does care for her; just doesn't love her.
Thanks for the chapter info, Karen! It gets hard to keep up when there are actually two per day.
PS: yeah, there is a lot of weird cross-contamination in this group. And now that I think of it, it makes it even weirder about Isa, Lucia and Zoe being friends.
ReplyDeleteOk, I get 'Nando is older. I get he went off to school. But Isa and Zoe NEVER saw him?? Ever??? Not even a picture??
PPS: Sorry. Last week there was some discussion about Manuela actually being Sofia. While I'm not entirely sure that is the case, there is some weirdness here. Too much is being made about the ease with which they switched places and there was that "Sofia took what was mine" line. Ravings of a lunatic, or did 'Nando actually pair up with Manuela (thinking it was Sofia)?
ReplyDeleteIf Marisol is in high school already, by the time Lucia, Zoe, and Isa were old enough to care much about guys, he was probably already married with a kid. Even if Isa had seen a photo of him in the family house, she may not have taken any notice of it because he wouldn't have been of interest, being an old married dude and all. Not enough notice to recognize him years later, probably. I would more expect her to have recognized him by the name...but maybe there are lots of Fernando Lobos.
ReplyDeleteDo we know anything about Fernando and Lucia's parents? We know Padre is their tio, but what about mom and dad?
By the way, I noticed on Sofia's grave marker that she would be 35 now...she was a young mom!
ReplyDeleteSofia and I have the same birth date (she's younger.)
ReplyDeleteI guess it's possible given where 'Nando was in life that Zoe and Isa knew very little of him. And it occurred to me today that even 'Nando and Lucia don't interact much.
Lo del martes (capítulos 56 y 57)
ReplyDeleteThe First Hour
Snoozefest.
--Zoe is all "Manuela Manuela Manuela"
--Doris cameo: she shows up to yell at Manuela. Manuela trips her and Doris falls down the stairs. Doris (and the "bebé) survive. Doris accuses Manuela of trying to kill her. No one believes Doris. What a shame.
--Poncho cameo: He takes Doris to the "doctor"
--G-mina plots with Héctor about a false will (?)
--Lala approves of Willy and Lucia.
--Willy gets his car back. He thinks Jesús is da bomb ("Chuchito eres el máximo!")
--'Nando finds out Ceci helped Juancho.
The Dark and Menacing Second Hour (in which I suspend all bad nicknames for Marisol so I am not perceived as blaming the victim)
--Marisol decides to take matters into her own hands and goes to see Juancho. Knuckles had already given Barbell the heads up so she and her beauty mark hustled Juancho out of the house. When they return, Babs makes sure Marisol sees them kissing (Juancho was definitely not happy about this.)Marisol runs off. Juancho follows.
--Jaibo (was that Jaibo?) accosts Marisol and Knuckles comes and saves the day. Since I didn't pay close attention, I was not sure if this was prearranged or if Knuckles just took advantage of the situation. He was coming to get drugs from Jaiblo. Anyhoo, after that Knuckles takes Marisol for coffee...which he drugs.
--Knuckles and a loopy Marisol end up at his pad. He pours her another drugged drink. The next morning, she awakes semi-undressed and Knuckles tells her they did the nasty. She freaks and runs. He laughs. a$$. Marisol takes a taxi home and goes straight to Isa. Juancho was waiting outside Marisol's building, but she yells and blames him for everything. He makes the taxi driver take him to where Marisol came from so he now thinks she's been with Knuckles.
--All this time 'Nando is freaking out and thinking Marisol and Juancho are together. This would be thanks to Barb-hell who is doing everything to keep Marisol from Juancho. 'Nando enlists Marilechuga's help in finding Juancho's house (since she's been there.) Isa finally suggests Ceci. 'Nando gets to the house and screams and IMHO is jerk.
---Babs just made everything worse. I hope she gets slapped soon.
--'Nando is determined to put Juancho in jail.
--Marifer is starting to be a little snot herself. When Marisol comes back to the apt, Marifer immediately calls Manuela.
Avances
--Blergh. Jorge and Isa.
Sara,
ReplyDeleteToday's offering was dark. I didn't enjoy any part of it. Well, maybe Willy and the car were funny. I think Lucia and Willy are cute together. She has been a great influence on him.
Manuela is more than BSC, she is just plain evil. I worry about her neices. The first time they cross her, it will be "off with their heads". If she is evil enough to kill her twin there is no limit to the evil she can do.
I find it hard to believe that Snorty could not tell her twins apart. My son grew with a pair of idential twins and I never could keep them straight. My son could never understand it because to him they didn't look anything alike. So I don't think Snorty spent much quality time with her twins or she too could tell them apart.
Rosemary Primera
I am with you 100%, Rosemary Primera. Very dark happenings today.
ReplyDeleteI hate, HATE the way Manuela is manipulating Marifer. I guess I was cruel when I called the girl a snot. She misses her mom and doesn't even have the memories her older siblings have.
I think Horty is a little on to Manuela. I think she also wonders what Manuela's motives are IRT 'Nando. Horty definitely isn't mother of the year material and it's clear Sofia was her fave.
One other bit of first hour action:
ReplyDelete--Jorge managed to become part of the casa hogar project AND to get Isa to work on it too...but at least he is supporting his mother...I guess.
Maybe after G-mina goes on her merry way, hopefully the carcel, Leo and Beba can get together.
ReplyDeleteRosemary Primera
I'm hoping for a completely new and very dashing love interest for Beba. I like Sarita and Leo :). They are still married aren't they?
ReplyDeleteSara,
ReplyDeleteI could live with that, but only if he knocks Beba's socks off. Of course, we will need to get rid of Jorge unless the new guy has mucho dinero and no heirs.
RP
I think Alex Sirvent should show up as some rich dude who will fall madly in love with Beba. I think he could be her type ;).
ReplyDeleteAgreed RP, Beba's socks need to be rocked AND the guy needs to have his own wealth and no heirs (and doesn't want any.) I think having his own wealth and not caring about heirs is very important because.....
ReplyDeleteIt also needs to be Alex Sirvent...or any hot young thing. Beba insists she's only 40 and I think she likes the younger fellas. If he's independently wealthy Jorge can't object to anything.
In fact, Beba's guy needs to be more powerful and have bigger thugs than Jorge.
I think she needs someone more age appropriate!
ReplyDeleteRP
How about Cesar Evora or if you want someone younger, Francisco Gattorno.
ReplyDeleteRP
I would vote for Francisco. I wouldn't mind seeing him in a suit. I'm tired of seeing him in plaid on Abismo. :-)
ReplyDeleteI great a sinking feel that Marisol is not going to make it to the end of this TN. She is making some really bad choices. A couple more evenings with Knuckles, she is going to need rehab.
ReplyDeleteRP
Finally caught up, yay! Thank you Sara for your recaps and vocab, and thank you commenters for your fun insights.
ReplyDeleteI love Minerva. She did a great job blocking Manuela in today's episode.
I don't have much to add to the comments except ITA that Beba is wonderful and deserves a man who adores her. I don't care about his age, young or old, just so they appreciate her wonderfulness.
I liked it when Doris was hanging all over Poncho for protection. Those two so obviously should be together.
Thanks Sara!
Heaven forbid!! I can handle a rehab story line, but I would really be mad if one of Fernando's children died. Manuela needs to be kept far, far away from them.
ReplyDeleteHow old is Knuckles, anyway? He's got his on apt and Marisol is still in high school. She's a senior, right? Wasn't it the graduation fund she stole? Ni modo, the actress looks 15. Hang on. That can't be right. If she's 17 or 18, then Sofia would have had her when *she* was 16 or 17. Right?
Gah! TN math makes my head hurt.
Cap'n-I didn't put it in the recap, but in my notes I wrote "Go Mine!" She really did stick it to Manuela, didn't she?
ReplyDeleteOh, and if I may be catty...QTH? was that seafoam green, yellow-ish bubble that Manuela was wearing??
Utterly Off-Topic (maybe)
ReplyDeleteI was just reading the comments on Eva and La Paloma mentioned that Lucero needed her hair brushed. It occurred to me that something I *love* about Amorcito is everyone's lovely and brushed hair.
Paloma's hair on Abismo drives me nuts.
Sin's hair on LQNPA drives me nuts.
If you want me to hate a character, just give them hair that looks cry, crunchy and in need of a good brush.
I love all the sleek and shiny peinados in this one. even Willy's.
Hello, I'm petty. What's your name?
make that "dry".
ReplyDeleteNobody looks good in that bubble style. No. Body.
ReplyDeleteKnuckles really grosses me out. That is some great casting.
Ooooooh, yes, Francisco Gattorno for Beba! PERFECT! He's dreamy and just the right age.
ReplyDeleteI think I spent the entire second half of this epi with my fists clenched. I so wanted to throttle that numb-skull neanderthal Knuckles. He. Is. The. Worst. His sidekick Beeyotch Barbie needs a swift kick in the pants with a wrecking ball, too. Fernando can just have a brisk smack upside the head. He was being a jerk, but then it was 5 a.m. and he had no idea where his daughter was.
I loved the looks Poncho was giving Doris in the car. They are SO meant for each other.
I wish we could have a little more Poncho and Doris and a lot less Knuckles and Barbie from Hell. I should mention the actress playing Barbie (Gaby Mellado) was nominated for best young lead actress for the 2012 Tv y Novelas awards.
ReplyDeleteI'll cut 'Nando some slack for his behavior at Lala's (just a little slack), but I was most angry at him when he stormed into Marisol's room and started yelling at her. I guess he is just fed up, but I would have just been so relieved to see my child I would have started with a hug.
Thinking about yesterday (because I'm on vacation and clearly have no life) it occurred to me that Knuckles is smart in an evil way. If Marisol had stuck to coffee/non-alcoholic drinks she would have awakened the next morning and been quite concerned that she didn't remember anything. But no, Knuckles MADE SURE to ply her with alcohol as well, so now she blames herself. IMHO that makes Knuckles doubly evil. Especially since nothing happened. He's just psychologically sadistic.
On the twins switching places: though Sofia & Manuela may have played this game, I doubt S indulged once she was married. And since this story is coming from M, I'm highly dubious. She's a liar and jealous of everything (perhaps except the kids) her sister had. Just like Carmina
ReplyDeleteJulia - ITA that Fer and his group are a bit incestuous. Their group of friends is too small to be switching partners.
As far as Manuela's attempt on Doris's life, I think Zoe may be on Doris's side as she HATES M - with good reason.
If Knuckles is supposed to be so great, why does he have to go through so much to manipulation? And he's so low, I'm glad he really didn't rape Marisol. Yeah, the fact that a comedy, rom-com or whatever this is even jokes about a young woman possible being raped/taken advantage of is not funny.
Still hating Jorge and his frightening manipulations. And Barbwire needs to be drugged a few times w/Knuckle's crap. And the girls at school torment her a bit. Sara you are far too nice with only a slap for this brat.
Yeah Beba for not being vindictive and closing down the casa hogar project! Now she just has to get wise to her son being a thug.
I know hints were dropped that Barb liked Juancho but in the very beginning it didn't seem the case or did I just miss it?
I also want Sarita and Leo to get back together. Why he stays with G-witch is beyond me. He doesn't seem to have any fun with her.
Oh and Sara you brought this up a while ago - Knuckles consistent drugging of Marisol is clearly going to be an issue. I hope she doesn't briefly become addicted. And since Fer is supposed to stupid on Juancho at this point, he'll blame the guy again.
Okay, I think Francisco Gattorno needs to appear as a rich suitor for Beba, but he should have a child (a well-adjusted, live-and-let-live teen, perhaps) so Beba can be a stepmom and have a kid who is better than Jorrible.
ReplyDeleteMarisol needs to see a doctor or therapist or someone and have a detailed conversation about what's going on. I think she might be too inexperienced to realize that it is not normal to remember absolutely nothing after a few drinks, or to know that as an adult, Knuckles should know that it is NOT okay to take advantage of an inebriated girl.
I'm not well versed in TN conventions. The only other comedy I paid any attention to was UFCS. It, too, turned dark at one point and often felt like a PSA. Amorcito is starting to feel that way (we are definitely setting up for a PSA storyline with Marisol and possibly with M.)
ReplyDeleteHas it always been the case that comedies become PSAs or is it just a new trend?
Or is it just that UFCS and Amorcito Corazon were/are more geared to a variety of age groups? Do they figure "hey, we've got the whole family together, let's get them talking."?
It's been that way at least as long as I've been watching telenovelas. I've seen a bunch of the comedic shows...Guapos, Gancho, Llena de Amor, Tontas... they all seemed to include some dark themes to varying degrees. LldA, despite being HILARIOUS overall, actually had a lot of murders and some rape incidents, plus messagey stuff on mental and sexual abuse and health and HIV and more. Even the less murderous comedies have some of this stuff in them.
ReplyDeleteI guess they probably want them to have a little more substance than just being light fluff. Plus, like you say, if you get the kids watching, then families can talk about these issues. It's easier to chat with a teen about what's going on with Marisol than to get her to listen if you're lecturing about her own life. Handy show-and-tell to point out all the signs of manipulation and such that the characters in the show are missing and the reasons they're getting into problems.
Even the less murderous comedies have some of this stuff in them.
ReplyDelete---
I don't know why, but this made me giggle.
And it kind of reminded me of Blue Lass' Hiney Algorithm (where *is* Blue Lass? I hope she's ok.) Anyhoo, makes me wonder if there is a melodrama algorithm. "Whoa, this would make the 5th murder. We are going for comedy, here. If we have 5+ murders they'll call us a melodrama."
After watching a little UFCS and now watching this, I am finding that the comedies can be quite entertaining...even if I don't get all the humor. (And assuming it's not too stupid.) I think it is precisely that feeling of "let's open an inter-generational dialogue" that appeals to me.
Back in February I had heard about Por Ella Soy Eva and I had hoped it would take over for UFCS. Alas, Univision went with TWO HOURS of Refugio and I decided to recap Abismo.
Then in May I saw promos for Amorcito Corazon and I assumed it would get the evening comedy slot and knock Refugio to an hour. But noooooo. Univision decides to make it an afternoon show. Fine. "I'll watch it and recap it on my own" says I. Then came the announcement it will be TWO HOURS and THEN Por Ella Por Eva starts in prime time. Drat.
All of this rambling to say that I would have watched Refugio if it weren't for the two hours. And I would have watched Por Ella (and recapped it) if it hadn't been for stupid scheduling shenanigans.
But I'm not bitter.
I really am enjoying Amorcito. The next comment will actually contains today's mini recap.
Lo del miércoles: Capítulos 58 y 59
ReplyDeleteToday felt full!!!
I think almost all two hours dealt with the repercussions of yesterday's events
At casa Lobo
'Nando has gone off the deep end and, thanks to a suggestion by Manny the Manipulator, decided to send Marisol to a military boarding school in ROMANIA. Yup, folks, Romania. Surely I won't need to tell you that Manny the Manipulator tells Marisol that this was Isa's idea?
Isa, Lucia AND EVEN Doris think this is a terrible move. Lucia argues strongly in favor of keeping Marisol at home and 'Nando tells her to stay away from him and his home if that's her attitude. Of course this crushes Lucia, but it gives Willy a chance to introduce himself as Lucia's novia and stick up for her.
Isa is so angry she agrees to go to dinner with Jorrible. There, she runs into Manny and Ceci. Manny immediately lets 'Nando know, so when Isa breaks up with him the next day (about the boarding school mess) he thinks it's because of Jorrible. *eye roll*
Marisol tells no one in her family what really happened and continues to blame herself. This is not cool and I hope eventually there is a "you can't blame yourself" PSA.
'Nando buys a whistle and pretends to be Captain Von Trapp without the charm.
Marilechuga and MariFer stage a huelga (strike) to change 'Nando's mind about sending Marisol away.
Casa Knuckles
Juancho waits all night outside Knuckles' abode and they get into a fight outside his garage. Knuckles rubs it in Juancho's face that the made love to Marisol and that Marisol said Juancho wasn't man enough. This is all a lie of course. One plus: Knuckles' phone rings during the fight and Juancho picks it up and sees "Bárbara Pinzón" as big as blazes on the screen. She.is.busted.
Later, Knuckles pays off Jaibo for the previous evening's acting gig and asks him to give Juancho a escarmiento (lesson). Juancho is described by Knuckles as having cejas de azotador (caterpillar eybrows *snort*)
Casa Pinzón
Juancho decides to find his own place. Barbara didn't expect that. Ooops. She goes to Marisol's and apologizes to her, comes clean about the kiss and begs her to forgive her. Marisol tells her about ending up and Knuckles' place (did she tell her about the alleged love-making?) Marisol does not forgive her and throws her out.
Other Shenangigans
--Lucia gets the money for the casa hogar and it is officially hers. She and Willy have a sweet scene where he talks about them being married with 3 Willy's and 3 Lucia's. They pre-snog for a bit, but Lucia puts the brakes on. He slips about ladies of the past and she asks him not to remind her (did she say remachar?) about his past. He promises never to talk about it.
----Horty won't give up Willy and is determined to "win." She calls the gym to have Willy sent over. He goes under duress. And 'cause his boss will fire him. Horty threatens to tell his novia all about his past if he doesn't meet her at Restaurante Caligula (? Did I hear that right?) at 9.
A (Very) Little Vocab from Yesterday
dizque: so-called
Karen-I felt like Babs crush on Juancho was sort of "out of the blue." But I may have missed the early signs, too.
ReplyDeleteSara, thanks.
ReplyDeleteManny is pure evil. She wants to send her poor niece to Romania! The two younger girls needs to take note, they may be next.
I don't have any sympathy for Nando. He is allowing all of this evil to happen, is he blind and deaf.
Jorge is bad news. I can't figure out his game with Isa. Yes, he is a thug. His poor, sweet mother would die of shame if she knew!
Willy and Luci were cute, again. They need to hurry up and get married.
When Nando and Luci were in the same scene, it was amazing how much they looked as if they really were brother and sister - great casting.
How is Juancho and Willy related? Juancho called Lala "Tia" - very confusing.
Rosemary Primera
Juancho and Willy (and also Juancho and Barbwire) are second cousins. That's why he calls Lala "Tía".
ReplyDeleteROMANIA?! Good gravy. I can't believe Fernando is going for this.
Yeah, definitely double check my comprehension. I'm pretty sure they said Romania. I think Latvia was mentioned, too.
ReplyDeleteI am quickly losing my patience with Fernando. They way he treated Lucia was inexcusable.
I know things are kind of dark right now, but there is never a day that this show doesn't make me say "awwww" or get a warm fuzzy feelings.
Today it was Willy talking to Lucia about when they are married and when Marilechuga ran to Isa's after finding out Marisol was getting sent away. Isa wasn't there but Sarita was and gave her a big hug.
Hola comadres y compadres, I'm on vacation but I can't wait to get back and catch up -- the Lad will be gone for a week, so it will be all TNs all the time until he takes the remote away.
ReplyDeleteHaving dinner with Mike & Emilia Friday. Excited!!!
P.S. I think there should be a TN set in a military boarding school in Romania.
ReplyDeleteSara thanks so much for your recap. A lot did happen, at least emotionally, b/c Fer is completely insane. Marisol is awful but boarding school in Romania (you were right but I didn't hear about Latvia). And then his bad imitation of Captain von Trapp; imbecile! And to ban Lucia from his home. I'm speechless.
ReplyDeleteI too had to roll my eyes when Manny told Marisolamebrained (Julia, that's a great name) Isa wanted her sent to boarding school. Even Doris knew that was a bad decision. Unfortunately, Manny gets her penchant for manipulation from her mother, who is messing with Willy. It's ironic Horty is always throwing Willy's low class in his face and yet she's blackmailing him to win him and that's classy. Ick!
RP - My favorite daughter, Marilu, seems to be onto Manny. When Marisol told her sisters Isa was responsible for her being sent away, Marilu stated Manny told you that right? I hope Marilu remains alert b/c her aunt Manny is evil.
Yes Sara there is always something cute in this TN. I too loved when Marilu ran to Isa's and Sarita comforted her. And Willy and Lucia are great but we know that anvil is coming soon.
Hey Blue Lass. I'm glad you are enjoying your vacation. Say hi to Mike & Emilia and make them so you pictures of their grandchild.
ReplyDeleteHey Blue Lass! Enjoy your vacay and say hello to MIke and Anita for me. And a big congratulations on their grandchild, too.
ReplyDeleteKaren- You are very right about Marilu. She seems to be the only one with a level head these days.
Can I ask a favor of all you super comprehenders? During Willy's scene with Nando the Imbecile, Willy said he wasn't going to leave until he convinced Nando to apologize to Lucia. Willy said something about tortillas and I expect it's an idiomatic expression. I didn't catch it and I'm not of those folks with garbled CCs.
Anyone know the expression?
I think it was some form of "dar la vuelta a la tortilla" meaning, I think, to look at things from the other person's point of view or turn the tables or something like that.
ReplyDeleteI hope Marilechuga can talk some sense into her father. He doesn't even seem to want to know what really happened, even though Marisol says she wasn't with Juancho, doesn't want to talk about it, seems traumatized, and Juancho showed up clearly injured and Marisol told him she doesn't want to see him. Doy, Fernando, does this look like your daughter just stayed out for a fun night with her boyfriend?
Doy, Fernando, does this look like your daughter just stayed out for a fun night with her boyfriend?
ReplyDelete---
And Isa felt like she was covering up for someone, too. IMHO they are both dropping the ball on this one.
Thanks for the tortilla help! I'm going to put it in my spread sheet as "turn the tables" since my trusty wordreference.com has that translation.
Oh and speaking of Marilechuga: I worry about her. She wants so bad for everyone to be happy that she sometimes forgets her own happiness. I'm thinking of her promising Marilu that she would stay away from Isa even though she didn't want to.
ReplyDeleteI know, over-analyzing a TN.
I wonder how long it will take for Doris to fall for Poncho. I love their scenes together. HelLO, Doris...someone who is madly attracted to you, not so hard on the eyes himself, funny, likes you just as you are even knowing how conniving and ridiculous you are acting...versus a guy who can't stand you and comes with all manner of complications. Seems like an easy enough switch to make.
ReplyDeleteMy DH uses an expression that is similar to the tortilla phrase - "It doesn't matter how thin you pour a pancake, it will always have two sides."
ReplyDeleteRosemary Primera
I jotted down a few bits of vocab earlier this week but forgot to post them:
ReplyDeletesabandija - louse, dirty rat
novios de manitas sudadas - chaste romantic partners
dorar la píldora - to sugarcoat it
palabras más, palabras menos - or something like that
Grocery shopping had to get done today, so I haven't seen today's episode yet. Luckily, the Premios Juventud are pre-empting all the prime-time TNs tonight. I'll have something up later tonight.
ReplyDeleteRP-I love the pancake version of dar la vuelta a la tortilla.
I hope we start to see more of Doris and Poncho and it would be cute of them to get together in a bumbling villains kind of way :-)
I'm about to add your vocab, Julia and thank you!! Shall I just add you as editor to the Amorcito document?
ReplyDeleteI went ahead and gave you editing permissions just in case.
ReplyDeleteThis overbearing loud lout Fernando wears on one, shouting insults at novia, daughters, friends, employees, family. Where's good old Pancho Lopez when we need him? Can you imagine Pancho sending one of his beloved daughters to boarding school in Bulgaria, or barring his sister Candelaria from his home, or disrespecting Rebe? Por supuesto que no!
ReplyDeleteHola!
ReplyDeleteJulia,"novios de manitas sudadas" totally makes me laugh! Doesn't it literally mean novios with sweaty hands? What a great phrase!!
Just saw my first episodio of this one today and basically have no idea what is going on except for what I have been able to glean from the last few recaps (THANK YOU for those!), but I was totally surprised at Daniel Arena's character and how entertaining he is! What a complete turn around from his character in Teresa, whom I could not bear to watch (I am realizing what a waste of Daniel that role was)... I think I may be tuning in more often just for him ;)
AnotherAmy
Yes! Sweaty because they're doing nothing but holding hands, with their hormones all pent up.
ReplyDeleteSara, thanks for adding me to the spreadsheet. My, look how it's grown!
Anon6:32 and Another Amy: Welcome!
ReplyDeleteAnon6:32: I did not watch all of UFCS, but your are so right. Pancho NEVER would have acted the way 'Nando is acting.
AnotherAmy: I am a huge fan of Daniel Arenas as Willy. And you took the words "what a waste of Daniel the role was" right out of my mouth.
Julia: It's amazing how fast the list is growing. I wonder if it will hit 500+ like the UFCS one. I somehow doubt it because UFCS struck me as more idiom heavy (that's code for "I barely understood that show" lol)
I'm still watching the episode. Wow. Today's episode is kind of painful to watch.
I was a bad recapper today and barely took notes. Needless to say, fill in what I'm sure I've missed.
ReplyDeleteMarisol cried and screamed "get out" a lot. First when Juancho came and tried to talk to her and convince Nando not to send her way. Then later when Knuckles came to visit and to tell her he loved her. I am distressed that she continues to tell no one what is going on. She is getting very depressed and even told her mom's picture she wanted to be with her (code for "I want to die.") Marilu the Level Headed goes and reports this to Isa.
Juancho runs into Knuckles outside Marisol's building. Knuckles tells him Marisol is done with Juancho and if he doesn't believe it, they can just go up and ask her. Juancho does not take him up on the offer. GAH!!
Jaibo tries to run over Juancho. Juancho and Willy go see Ceci about Jaibo. At Willy's prompting, Juancho starts connecting dots and realizes Jaibo and Mauricio are somehow connected.
When Isa comes to talk to Marisodepressed, the girl yells at her for being the one who came up with the boarding school idea. Isa denies it and when Marisogullible tells her where the info came from (Manuela.) When Isa confronts Manny, the lying, crazy skank plays innocent.
Jorrible enlists Manny's help in finding out what this "curse" is. Poncho eventually spills those beans. Knowing that Isa has never had nada de nada just makes her even more desirable in Jorrible's eyes. He is such.a.tool.
Horty will not give up the dream of getting it on with Willy. She calls the gym owner to complain. Willy and the owner butt heads and Willy quits. He lies to Lucia about being at work and she finds out. She tells him lying is not cool and it's the one thing she can't tolerate. They make up, but Willy spends much of hour two worried/depressed.
Beba actually is trying to help Willy get rid of Horty and her pushy, threatening self.
'Nando comes to his senses about Marisosad and Lucia. He makes up with both of them and decides not to send Marsol away. Things are still strained with him and Isa since he acts like a jealous neanderthal when he sees Jorrible and Isa together.
Ricky (Lala's son; Barbwire and Willy's Bro) is out of jail.
Zoe was nauseous several times, but so was FFFFF and there was some talk about a corner restaurant. Are the writers psyching us out? Zoe swears she was careful. If she is preggers, is it Ceci's .... or FFFFF's?
Sara, great rerun, thanks.
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time taking Horty seriously, but I am sorry, she looks like a monkey. That said, she walk in on Tia Mania and Marifer together and Marifer was calling her Mama. She did a double take, so I wonder if she is putting the puzzle pieces together.
Jorrible really is a tool and a thug to boot. Run, Isa, run.
Nando has been no Prince Charming the last few days, I do wish he would get over all of this "stuff" before he loses Isa.
Once again Willy and Luci were sweet together except Willy can't paint worth a darn.
I wonder what part Ricky will play in this hot mess. Maybe he will take care of that gap toothed idiot and his paid thugs.
Rosemary Primera
Thank you Sara. For such a delightful "comedy" there sure are some extremely creepy and scary bad guys.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the writers are psyching us out with Zoe's nausea. But if she is pregnant I'll bet it is Cecilio's because she probably didn't use protection That Night. Anyway, they belong together.
Rosemary Primera, wasn't it super creepy when Marifer called Manuela ma? Poor little kid, she's going to be so disillusioned.
ITA that Fer has been over-the-top annoying.
Rosemary Primera-I like the idea of Ricky taking care of Knuckles!! And Jaibo may have met his match, too. Was it just me or did the actor playing Ricky seem as old as Lala? Oh well. I guess years in a Mexican jail will do that to a man.
ReplyDeleteHoity is definitely worried about Merifer calling Manny "Ma". If this were real life, that kid would totally need therapy when all was over and done with.
Cap'n: Excellent point about That Night. How could I have forgotten. I bet F5x's nausea was just a red herring.
Am I the only one who thinks Lucia should drag 'Nan-DOH over to Lala's and make him apologize for intruding on her home and screaming like a fool?
Maybe if Zoe is pregnant, Cecilio is so intuned to her that he is having a sympathy pregnancy. Now that would be fun!
ReplyDeleteI am afraid that Nando will have a lot of "Mea Culpa's" before the week is out.
I am beginning to think the Manny/Sofia sibiling rivalry is just the same as what is going on with Horty and Beba. They each want Willy because the other does, not because they care about him.
Manny had another scary look on her face when Nando said that Marisol wouldn't be sent off to Timbuktu - so looked really pithed.
RP
Oh gosh yes! Manny is not pleased at all that Marisol is staying. I guess her ultimate plan is to get all the girls out of the way. And what is up with all the pics she's cutting up? They are all Sofia/Nan-doh pics right? Its creepy!
ReplyDeleteZoe said she has an IUD, which I would think she's had long-term. The doc would have tested for pregnancy and not given it to her if she had asked for it after being with Cecilio, right? Plus, it's been awhile. I'm guessing no pregnancy. The first scene where she was nauseated ended abruptly and then she seemed fine, so at first I thought maybe there was a product placement for Pepto-Bismol or something that was chopped out, but then she was barfy again...who knows?
ReplyDeleteI thought the same thing about Ricky...prison must really age a guy! He looks older than Lala to me. But hey, as long as he's got two kidneys in working order, welcome home.
I thought the girls' hunger strike (with snacks catered by Minerva) was hilarious. MariFer is such a cutie. "You'd better eat up! If you go to boarding school, they won't give you anything to eat!" It isn't her fault she's young and easily manipulated. I think she's a hoot.
Hooray to Willy G for connecting the dots for Juancho. I really wish Marisol would tell someone what is going on. Isa should suggest that Fernando send her to a counselor, if she won't talk to them (I doubt he would ever think of it on his own).
Huge thanks on the Zoe info. I have a hard time understanding her and F5x (and Willy's cuates, and sometimes Beba and....well, sometimes I have issues.)
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Willy's cuates, I had two thoughts during the casa hogar fix-up scenes: Maybe Jazmin and Reina end up with the cuates OR the cuate that introduced himself to Beba ends up with her.
I know I know, age-appropriate... but this *is* a comedy after all.
I loved the hunger strike, too. Now that I am not as distracted by her cute voice, I also find Marifer easy to understand. All the girls are clear speakers. Don't lose that trait, ladies!
Thanks Julia. I didn't get the part about Zoe's IUD. Her nausea must be a red herring.
ReplyDeleteI like the actor who plays Ricky, but he definitely looks like Lala's bro, not son.
Ricky-Eduardo Shacklett (I was looking for a birthdate, but didn't find one. I was leery of clicking any esmas sites and getting spoilers.
ReplyDeleteMauricio Rossi aka Knuckles: Guissepi Gamba (heh heh "shrimp")
I am so happy, Mas Sabe El Diablo ends today, that was taking up 2 hours on my DVR and I would watch it nightly. Now I can go to same day viewing of Amorcito. I love this TN.
ReplyDeleteI really hope Ricky uses some of his prison cred to intimidate that gap-toothed gap-brained Knuckles. And when I say intimidate I mean vaporize. He is the worst. I don't know how Juancho didn't punch him again. Honestly, I don't know how Diego Amozurrutia didn't punch the guy even if it wasn't in the script, he was standing there with his nasty face so desperately in need of a fistazo. Maybe the actor is *really charming* when he isn't in character.
ReplyDeleteLOL "fistazo"!
ReplyDeleteI feel kind of bad for the actor because he definitely has a villain face. I can't imagine him in a "nice" role.
Hi, Nellie! Glad the scheduling worked out :). I adore this show!
Well. I've watched today's episode. I think I am going to wait until my blood stops boiling before I write it up.
ReplyDeleteYes Sara I understand. I was taping the episode and only saw bits and pieces but Manny bullying Marilu and Mine was muy, muy mal. Te odio Manny!
ReplyDeleteAdd me to the list that was horrified with Mal-Manny terrifying that sweet little girl.
ReplyDeleteRP
Yup. Ya'll get me.
ReplyDeleteThis beech better not make it to the Fin. Sorry. No redemption for her!
At least I got the "Galan gets drunk" for bingo.
ReplyDeleteWell. I guess I need to recap the mess that was...
ReplyDeleteLo del viernes (Capítulos 62 y 63)
This is pretty much from memory. I had every intention of going through it again quickly...but there I things I don't want to see again even in FF>>
The first 10 minutes was preempted by news coverage.
Manny and Jorrible spend the episode trying to get their way. Jorrible drops in on Isa at home and her office whenever he wants. He tells her he really likes her. He sends her flowers with lovey messages that 'Nando intercepts. He even sneaks up behind her and rubs her arms. Personal space, dude. Respect it. Blech.
For her part, Manny flirts with 'Nando and manages an overnight invite since her car won't start. She creeps into his bedroom and creeps on him. 'Nando pines for Isa, but Manny tells him to play it cool. Women like that. Yeah. Right. Oh but that's not the worst of it. She suggests a family picnic and smarms about how important family is for her, which reminds 'Nando of Sofia. Then Manny pulls the ol' "twist my ankle move in for kiss" move which is interrupted by sweet innocent Marilu.
Marilu is no dummy. She knows straight up that Tia Manny is bad. Marilu tells Minerva about seeing the near kiss. Minerva suggests talking to Isa, but Marilu makes her promise not to tell anyone. Manny overhears and then RIPS into her niece about talking to servants and how could she think her aunt was macking on her dad? Then Manny was menacing with Minerva. Oh! And then she and Ceci meet up with 'Nando at the bar and is convinced that 'Nando was jealous. Manny was scary as hell today. Just sayin'
'Nando tells F5x about the near kiss. F5x goes home and tells Zoe that 'Nando almost kissed Manny and is now confused, so that scene near the end when it looks like Isa and 'Nando are making their daily reconciliation? Yeah, it's gonna turn out to be a waste of time. You know Zoe is gonna tell Isa about 'Nando's "confusion" (that's code for dumba$$ery.)
Zoe IS pregnant. She only had to wait 20 minutes for the home pregnancy test (QTH?.) Sadly, F5x detests children. I think he said Herod had the right idea. This is not going to be good. She never got around to telling him either. At least Isa, Lucia, Sarita and Zoe are happy about it.
Ricky is scum. Poor Lala. 3 kids and only one of them is worth a darn. Ricky made it clear he really doesn't care about Tuqueque (although I may have misunderstood.) Oh, and he made crude remarks to Lucia before he knew who she was and even when he did know, I got the impression he kind of likes her in a not so future brother-in-law kind of way.
Compatibility tests for Tuqueue and "family" are in. Moncho and Irma are not a match (Um, I may have not paid attention to this stuff.)
G-mina is practicing Leo's signature.
Horty makes Willy a business proposition. She thinks he would be great running his own gym.
I think that's the big stuff, but you know I'm always needing back up.
I'll put up some vocabulary tomorrow.
Thank you Sara. I think you hit all the high points. In other words, I can't remember anything else.
ReplyDeleteWow, so Zoe is embarazadisima after all.
The creepy peeps were really bad today and now we get to add another one to the roster. Ricky. Too bad he's a scumbag.
It seems to me the entire Lala family should be tested for compatibility with Tuqueque. Surely they could do that without having to admit that Ricky is Tuqueque's dad. There I go, being practical again.
Wow, so Zoe is embarazadisima after all.
ReplyDelete---
I loved that she was not just embarazada, but embarazadisima. It made me smile. That was something that made it into my notes, but not to the recap.
I was really surprised by it, too. Julia's info about the IUD really had me convinced that Zoe wasn't pregnant. Now let's hope it's Ceci's.
Lighter Moments from Friday
ReplyDeleteThere aren't many of them, but seeing Willy with Reina's baby and Ceci's imitation of F5x and 'Nando was kind of funny.
Vocabulary
We are keeping track of vocabulary in this document. I'll try to remember to link it each week.
andadas: vices or bad habit. To volver a las andadaes is to fall back into ones old (bad) habits.
chillón: One of my favorite words Loud, piercing, shrill
¿Con qué ojos?: With what money?
juanete: bunion
Oh yes, Zoe's baby simply must be Ceci's. I was very glad that Manuela moaned Fernando's name as she was about to fall into bed with Ceci. I hope it's a buzz kill for him.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the vocab. Your list is really something!
Hi Everyone! Just wanted to let you all know that there is a chance that Amorcito will be cut back down to an hour once Sortilegio starts. It looks Sortilegio will be the two hour show from now on and Amorcito will be cut down to one hour.
ReplyDeleteSo the schedule will go like this:
Sortilegio: 1:00pm to 3:00pm Eastern Time
Amorcito: 3:00pm to 4:00pm Eastern Time
Source: TitanTV.com
ReplyDeleteOh that makes my day, Anon! SQUEE!!!!
ReplyDeleteCap'n - I hope Ceci heard her. He was pretty drunk , but she did pretty much moan "Fernandohhhh" right in his ear.
One more expression (said by F5x IRT Manny and 'Nando)
ReplyDelete"El hombre es fuego y la mujer estopa; viene el diablo y sopla."
I don't think there is an English equivalent.
If man is fire, the woman is oakum (I've also seen "linen"). If the devil blows, that baby is goin' up in flames. In other words: A man and a woman alone, together can mean trouble.
(F5x went on to mumble something unintelligible about water...the CC said "mez%jaro")
Sara,
ReplyDeleteI found this translation:
El hombre es fuego; la mujer, estopa; llega el diablo y sopla
Man is fire; woman tow is; comes the devil and blows...
This warns us to avoid excessive familiarity with individuals of the opposite gender.
RP
Thanks, RP! However it's said, 'Nando needs to stay away from Manuela!!
ReplyDeleteSara,
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. Also, Isa needs to stay away from Jorge.
RP
Oh lord, Jorge. He really, really creeped me out Friday. That whole coming into her office and rubbing her arms thing? *shudder*
ReplyDeleteGood thing Isa's mother lives with her. I don't think she would allow Jorge to "sleep over" no matter what the excuse.
ReplyDeleteDoes Nando know that Manny killed Sofia?
RP
I'm disgusted by Jorrible; yes, Sara, he totally invaded Isa's space and pretending to be Fer left all of us slimed. I can't wait 'til he's revealed but I hope Beba has a relationship with a great guy before this happens.
ReplyDeleteYeah Lala got a bum-rap with her kids. Barbara may have the possibility of redemption but Ricky seems to be a hardened criminal. I hope he doesn't try to rape Lucia.
While I'm hoping Zoe's child is C's, remember she also slept w/that other guy, who happens to also be a lawyer (I think).
I know I said this earlier but for making Marilu cry Manny deserves something horrible to happen to her. Add to this she's most likely in cahoots w/Knuckles, the junior rapist-in-training. If she did kill her sister, she needs to die. Sorry but adults who manipulate and harm children are below pond-scum (that would be Ricky) to me.
RP - no, Fer doesn't know Manny killed his wife. And Horty is reluctant is admit this as well.
ReplyDeleteI hope he doesn't try to rape Lucia.
ReplyDelete----
Tears sprung to my eyes just reading this! Oh I hope that doesn't happen.
I was very upset by Ricky's crude behavior with Lucia and she was so upset when she got to the parish hall/classroom.
ReplyDeleteFriday was just a bad day all around. I hope things are a little brighter this week.
Sara,
ReplyDeleteI agree, for a TN that started out being fun to watch it has suddenly turned very dark. Surely, they won't continue and start to lighten up. Sorry to say, but even the children are traumatized. Manny has really done a number on them.
RP
