Refugio Para el Amor #74 Wed 7/18/12 The Showdowns Begin

Mexico City:

We begin with the Marcial and Vio meeting and things aren't going well. Marcial lurrrvvves his Vio, if she waits a bit, he will be free. Vio isn't down with that he lied to her, he's still married, doesn't want anything to do with him. He is not taking no for an answer, when who should walk in, wait for it, Flor, Marcial's wifey. And boy is she pithed. Accuses Marcial of betraying her with this esta. Vio says I'm no esta, my name is Violetta. You will respect me in my own home. Marcial doesn't want to air his dirty laundry with Flor in front of Vio, but Flor says she ain't going anywhere!

Julie and Gagme are in Gagme's office. Julie gets a call from the hunkalicious guy she met the other night, for a meet. He's Italian or the wine is. Anyhoo, Gagme gets a call from her informant, at the Torreslanda's , we all know who that is, on the count of three, Frigid. Frigid informs Gagme that Luci's Moms, Paz has come to pay a call on ole Rosa. Gagme is shocked.

Norma and Claudio are in his office and he is telling her how much he loved meeting Luci's family last night. It was like a party, their hospitality was wonderful and he drank some tea, and enjoyed meeting the people from the North. He loves her family! (Note to Claudio: I hope you always feel this way).

Aldo is at the salon where Vicky works talking to Nichole. Aldo is telling Nichole how much he likes Vicky. Nichole tells him to stay away from Vicky, cause it is causing her problems, effecting her work, and his Tio will not be pleased.

Max is talking to Pato, via the computer. Pato tells him his therapy went well, but he's tired. Max reminds Pato that Dr. Drexel said that was part of his therapy was to rest. Max sends hugs to Pato. Afterwards, Max calls Vicky. He says great your dad is back at work. How are you? Miss you. Click!

Luci has picked up Marianita from school and is going to help her with her homework. Mari wants to know why Luci is not marrying *dead to me* Rod. He's busy lots of work, can't be together. Mari wants to know if she used Mari's magic wand to wish with all her might to marry Rod? Luci changes the subject and helps Mari with her homework.

Vicky is at home, arranging some flowers in a vase, when guess who has come to call? That's right, its the boogeyman, oh sorry, no it's Aldo. She has opened the door wide and is now trying to slam it in his face. Aldo, however, has got his foot in the door. Vicky tells him she doesn't want to speak to him, and how terrible his Tio can be. He tells her to calm down. Vicky tells him your Tio could kill us. Well Aldo is flabbergasted, but he goes. Vicky is releived.

Het Het:

The Chisme Ladies are walking down the street talking about Copio. They run into Dona Luchita who says she used the phone over at Don Serapio's and saw Copio there. She tells the ladies she is diversifing her clothing line and something about her reputation. She goes and the ladies have a little giggle.

Don A is in his office, seems he has a replacement for Copio already and is mad the guy is tardy. He is starting to witch at that ring tailed cat on his desk when the guy comes in, I think his name is Babosa, but I have a feeling this means monkey, lol. Anyhow, Don A wants him to be on time, don't interrupt when Don A is speaking and now go and do what I told you.

Mexico City:

Rosa exists her white SUV all nose in the air.

Meanwhile, Magda and Estella are in the kitchen talking a mile a minute and Frigid comes in and tells them that Senora Torreslanda has come home and to pipe down. They just look at her like she's dumb.

Paz is still with Mati in her room. Paz tells Mati now is the time for the truth and to finally confront that minion of satan, oh, excuse me, Rosa. Frigid has taken herself upstairs to announce that Rosa is home, and Mati and Frigid escort Paz down to the library.

Rosa is in the library, and Paz with her head held high, goes into that library. Rosa wants to know who are you, and what do you want? Paz with her stiff spine intact says I am Paz Jacinto Flores, mother of Luciana. Well that shuts ole Rosa up, she has the deer in the headlights look. Paz continues and says, yes I am Paz, wife of Galindo, mother of Luci. Mati and Frigid are still by the doors and Frigid is openly gawking. Paz tells Rosa, you know very well it's me. Well, Rosa turns to Mati and Frigid and tells them to leave her alone with Paz and no interruptions. You can tell Frigid wants to hear it all, but Mati is the one that closes the doors and makes sure they are closed.

Luci and Marianita are still talking and Luci explains to Mari that sometimes reasons keep people apart. Ariche walks in as Luci is speaking and he wants to know why she isn't marrying Mushashon. The poor boy looks heartbroken. Now Ariche wants to know where Rod is. Luci says busy working. Ariche wants to call Rod. He wants Luci to call Mushashon.

Now back to Paz and Rosa. Rosa starts right in. I know why you came back, you want more money as she reaches for her purse. Paz still with the stiff spine is very, very pithed now. Paz says she doesn't want money. Rosa is not listening, and says por favor, as she is stroking a check and asking Paz how much we talkin' here. Paz says this is all your fault about Luci. Rosa says she never wanted Luci to return there, eva. Paz tells her it's the Torreslanda's family fault. Now Rosa starts the name calling, calling Luci a wretch, as she sticks her index finger toward heaven. Paz, with that ramrod stiff spine, looks at Rosa and says how is Luci a wretch, what cause she fell in love with *Dead To Me* Rod, and because of your manipulations and lies she got her heart broken. Rosa reminds Paz she isn't to tell Luci anything about her true past. Paz tells Rosa she knows she is a liar, cause Paz went to Rod is Dead To Me and got the whole story out of him, with the other two brujas you ganged up on her and told a bunch of lies and the funny thing is there was noone here to defend my Luci. Paz then tells Rosa she is a miserable person with no heart. Paz rolls up her sleeve, like she is going to give blood, and tells Rosa she loves Luci like her own blood and that Rosa treated Luci shamelessly.

Meanwhile, Max and Rod have gone out to lunch. Max wants to know how Rod is doing, really. Max is concerned, what with the divorce, all the work Rod is doing, not speaking to Rosa and Frigid listening at doors. Ha! Rod asks if Frigid is a necessary evil, they laugh. Max just wants Rosa to be tranquil at home, as if. He tells Rod to go ahead tell him, it's better to talk about it. He's his dad and will listen. Rod regurgitates all the crap about Luci being a liar blah, blah, but Max tells Rod, you ever think the girl is innocent of all this crap? Max thinks she is. Well Rod is just shocked. How can he think that. Besides she has a little somethin', somethn' going on with Linares, you know our #1 enemy, she was even hugging him in public! Now we know Max knows what the real relationship is, so Max tells Rod he was happy married to Luci not happy now, go talk to her, make it right. We're divorced says Rod, yeah, but try to talk to her anyway, so what if you're divorced. Rod says you don't know Luci and why is his Papa defending her all of a sudden. Max says he isn't defending her, just that Rod's heart wants what Rod's heart wants. Max tells Rod he cares about both Rod and Luci and wants them to be happy. Max thanks Rod for talking to him and Rod is grateful to have a listening ear. Lunch is over and Rod hugs his papa and cries like a big ole baby on his shoulder.

Magda, Estella and Mati are all in the kitchen waiting on Paz. Frigid is there too, making her disapproval known by that face. (Note to Frigid, hey hope your face freezes like that, jus' sayin'). Anyhoo, the ladies are chatting and Frigid is starting the insulting comments she is so good at, and she is harping on Mati. Mati leaves the room, with Frigid right behind and Magda and Estella make a joke about Frigid. Someone please comment about that, cause they sure had a good yuk.

Now back to the showdown. Rosa is yelling at Paz. Rosa is trying to tell Paz they are both alike trying to protect their children. Paz says no way, she tells Rosa she is selfish, she has no charity, no kindness. Rosa reminds Paz she is responsible for what happened to Luci too, in the past. Paz tells Rosa that may be but it's Rosa's fault this happened. Rosa of course says this is so NOT her fault, (were we expecting anything less?). Paz is still holding her own in mama bear mode and lets Rosa have it. She tells Rosa due to the bruja's and their lying they broke Luci and Rod up. Of course, Rosa is shaking that head, (Note to Rosa, oh, are your screws loose again, jus' sayin'). Of course Rosa is saying that is all a lie. Paz says no its the truth, and not only that, Luci only worked at that job, ONE NIGHT, and how Rod defended Luci against Lastra. And that says Paz is the TRUTH. She says those brujas, along with you cooked up all these lies. Now Rosa is name calling again and calls Paz ignorant. Really. Now Rosa is trying to tell Paz that Luci is a liar. Well Paz is so not having that. Of course now Rosa is in screaming mode, and screams that her whole family was so happy, until Luci showed up, and that Rod was gonna marry a great woman (Gagme is great, just wait) and because Rosa saw with her own eyes, how Luci essentially stole Rod. Paz aint having that. No siree bob, she says Luci is way better than that. Roselena, oh, Senora Roselena, it's your fault and you are culpable. Rosa is now swearing Luci will never, eva come near her family again. So essentially Paz says, who died and left you in charge. Rosa tries the guilt trip now. She tells Paz oh, you sent Luci here, cause your husband died, you have a mountain of debt, you have many problems and you really came here for more money for your silence. Oh, Paz is sooooo pithed, way beyond pithed now. Paz lays it on Rosa. She says for being intelligent, you are pretty dumb. Rod came and chased Luci, he came to Het Het looking for her, Paz tells Rosa that she saw Rod face to face and he asked for Luci's hand in marriage, and Paz wants to tell the WHOLE WORLD the truth. ( You go Paz!).

Break time and back to the other showdown. I beleive Flor is saying that Marcial is a cop, investigating the Inferno! Vio is beyond mad now. She rounds on Marcial and thinks he used her to get info about Inferno. She pushes him around and is joined by Flor, who does the same. Well, Vio ain't having that, and wait for it, grabs a skillet (Note to whoever talked about the skillet waving on another tn's comments) and waves it around, chasing Flor right outta there! Next she waves that skillet at Marcial and tells him to LARGATE! She closes the door and has to take a little rest on the sofa where she cries her eyes out. One of the best scenes with skillet waving ,second best scene of the night.

Now back to the other showdown. Rosa says the only truth for her is that Paz took Luci away, and now Rosa wants her to LARGATE MI CASA! Paz says she isn't leaving until the whole world knows what she truly is, that Rosa is not a good woman, she doesn't tell the truth, and she ain't no good mama either. Rosa says you don't know me. Paz says oh, I know you, you are a liar and ruin people's lives. Now Rosa wants Paz to listen to HER!!!!!

Another comedic break, and this one is good. Magda, Mati and Estella are all in the kitchen having a little coffee, when Magda remarks that kitchen is nice, but Het Het is better, cause of the fresh air, when Magda notices something, goes over to the door and gives it a good wack with her leg, on the other side that door goes into Frigid's butt and side of her face. Well Frigid comes right on in, calls them animals and that all Luci's friends are animals, and Magda, Mati and Estella are all trying very hard not to laugh.Frigid wants to tell on them, especially Mati, whose fault it is of course. Magda says I'll go with and tell your boss all about your listening at doors! Frigid backpedals and says on orders of the patrona you must stay here! Frigid goes nursing that face and Magda, Mati and Estella finally let loose with the guffaws. Mati says she wishes she had thought of that and thanks Magda. Third best scene of the night.

Back to the showdown again of Paz and Rosa. Rosa warns Paz of the consequences of telling about the baby napping. And by the way during this whole part of the convo, Rosa has, what I'd like to call, the manicomio look on her face. Rosa is laying it on thick that Paz wasn't a mama to Luci only for the money. Now Paz, poor thing, is starting to lose it, she is starting to cry (Note to Paz: Por favor straighten that spine, she is only messing with your head, jus' sayin'). Paz says that may be true, but I have loved Luci, ever since you put her in my arms, like my own, with all my soul. Now Rosa is trying to scare Paz, by telling her that Claudio has a relationship with Luci and what would Claudio think if the truth came out, about Paz taking Luci all those years ago? Do you think he would forgive you? Rosa warns Paz if she opens her mouth, there will be all kinds of grief for Luci. Besides, Claudio thinks his hija is dead, let it go. Now Rosa is trying to convince Paz it's too late to tell the truth. Besides if you tell the truth Luci will be lost to you foreva. Paz says you don't know my Luci. Rosa is trying to convince Paz, who she has by the arm now, to go back to Het Het with Luci and Luci will always beleive that Galindo and Paz are her parents. What good will it be to tell the truth now, anyhow? Besides she is laying the guilt trip on Paz, how this is really Paz' fault. Poor little Luci.

Melissa has come to see Claudio with her thesis. I think she put some finishing touches on it and is going to submit it. She thanks him for all his help, cause he was a big part of it, and he says you did the majority of the work. Claudio tells Norma he is going to Luci's and Melissa is going with.

Hanna and Boris are at school and I guess Boris is looking at the cd Hanna made for the project and Hanna is wanting to know how she did , when Boris snaps on her. She wants to know what's up. He says he's precoccupied. And what about she asks? He jumps right in and asks if she likes Lorenzo. She has a secret little grin and doesn't answer.

Vio gets company again, but it is Lorenzo and Fabian this time. She is telling them how much she was in love with Marcial and now its a mess. Lorenzo and Fabian assure her, she'll find someone better, when there is a knock on the door and it is Polo, with a bouquet of flowers for Magda. How sweet and bless his heart.

Magda and Estella are still in the kitchen and talking about Rosa being Mati's boss, and something about the devil, someone please clarify. They were still laughing.

Conny has come home, sees Mati in the hall by the library and Mati brings Conny up to date on the Paz/Rosa meet. Conny tells Mati not to worry. It will take care of itself. Conny goes off to see Pato, and he is happy to see her. Pato tells her about Luci going to therapy with him,he was very happy and Conny wants to know if Pato likes Luci. He says yes, and wants her back at the house. Conny says well maybe in time, and does some hand therapy with him. Conny also tells him, you will never guess who is meeting with Rosa as we speak, Paz the mama of Luci. Pato can't beleive it.

Paz and Rosa, meanwhile are winding up their convo. Rosa tells Paz that now it is in her hands, what to do. Paz has gotten her spine back, and says damn right, not really but Paz is determined. Pato, on hearing Paz has come to beard Rosa in her hellfire pit, comes in and greets Paz, as Rosa gives them the stinkeye. He says Dona Paz and she says jouven you must be Pato, and he says pleased to meet you and she says no the pleasure is mine as she grabs his hand and holds it.

In the best scene of the night, Ariche is in the court yard in the hood with a slingshot, when Rod has come to call. Rod calls Ariche's name, and Ariche turns around and wants to know why Rod isn't marrying Luci, while Ariche aims that sling shot straight at *dead to me Rod's* head. (Note to Ariche: Little dude you are one brave mushashon, but really aim a little lower, it will hurt *dead to me Rod* more and he will be begging for mercy, jus' sayin).

Advances:

Will Paz tell Luci the truth?

Gala says Rodrigo es Mio, SOLO MIO

Rod meets with Luci

  1. Hi Y'all here is the recap. Enjoy.

I was very happy with Paz in this epi. She still has her spine and hasn't caved. I am sooo glad she stood up for herself and Luci, yay. Now hopefully it's tell the truth time, we'll see.

Those ladies, Magda, Estella and Mati were a hoot in the kitchen. If anyone knows the the little jokes they were telling please comment. They sure were having a good time, lol.

  2. Funny how Paz's posse had to stay in the kitchen, but Rosa's bruja posse were allowed in the library. I wish Magda had been able to be in that library, there wouldn't have been anything left of Rosa, lol.

  3. I think Magda is so cute/funny! Even when I don't understand the joke, it's still funny when she tells it with her Norteno accent. Really not feeling the Claudio & Melissa thing. She's a BABY! Too creepy....

Also find it a little rattling that Max is so Jekyl & Hyde. One minute he's all psycho killer & rapist with Vicky and the next the nicest daddy ever, and always so nice about Luci. Strange split personality!

  4. I agree about Max, Katie. I think he's more crazed and evil than Rosa. He's one sick dude ... in tn world, they're heading towards a fiery death. No redemption for either please.

  5. Great recap once again Madelaine!

The exchange you mentioned in the kitchen between Magda and Estella had something to do with them smack talking Frigida and her crazy looking face. One of the lines said something along the lines of a man that was paid wouldn't even be with her. Some real "oh snap!" pieces of dialogue if you ask me. I truly love Magda's presence in la casa de Torreslanda. That scene plus the door kicking scene...some much needed comic relief amongst all of this drama. Magda is too feisty to back down to Frigida. That was some good TV right there.

Seriously, this whole Max insanity is getting to be a lot to take. And is it me or is the disparity between his Jekyll and his Hyde becoming more and more severe? I think each side of him is reaching both of the polar opposites. Because on one hand he is locking girls to beds in the middle of nowhere and drugging them and choking them. But on the other hand, the way he is with Pato and then that scene with Rod at lunch make me like him. The advice he gave Rod was really good and at the end of that scene I had practically forgotten about the other side of his character.

And then at the end, I loved that Ariche was holding his ground against Rod. He was locked and loaded and ready for combat (his little headband helped complete the look). I hope he brings up the fact that he and Rad had a "trato" and they even spit on it. How dare Rod go against their spit trato!

  6. Wonderful episode, and wonderful recap Mads! Thank you amiga.

That scene in the library was amazing. Great acting by both actresses. It was like a fight between a mama bear and a serpent. Paz said she would give up to the last drop (gota) of her blood for Luci, when she rolled up her sleeve dramtically. But Rosa was at her serpentine best, circling Paz and playing her mind games. I still think Paz will tell Claudio and Luci the truth. I think Rosa thinks she won, but when Paz left she said I know what I have to do-- she didn't say anything about staying quiet. I don't think she could bear the guilt of keeping quiet anymore.

Also loved Vio and the skillet, and her line about Marcial and Flor taking their circus elsewhere. LOL! And our two theories about Marcial were right. He's married AND he's an undercover cop!!! I clapped when I heard that revelation.

And the final cherry on top, Ariche, slingshot at the ready, in a showdown with Mushashon. Now it's time for Rod to explain why he broke their spit trato.

  7. I am really starting to think that Max has an evil twin and it hasn't been revealed to the audience yet. LOL! Not really. But the man is such a good, caring father and gives such amazing advice to his kids. But he so enjoys torturing people he believes betrayed him like Vicky and Aldo, or playing dirty to get rid of people he thinks are a threat like Claudio.

Rod once again shows he is his mama's son with this crazy jealousy. "I saw them!!" Really? Since when did a hug between two people, in a Latin country, automatically mean an affair? It's so ridiculous that he thinks Luci and Cladio have a romantic relationship.

Katie- Although Melissa is crushing on Claudio, he has never shown any romantic interest in her. I think when he finds out about her feelings, he will let her down gently, so not to worry. I see it as a harmless crush. He is too much of a gentleman for that. Not like Max boinking the young daughter of his long-time employee.

  8. Great work, Madelaine.

Are we ever going to see Ariche's parents or will Luci have to adopt him at the end of the story? This baby ninja is incredible.

It is past time for Paz to tell the truth, but my guess is that this will be delayed considerably by something. I think Paz held her own well enough against Rosalena, who will probably unravel completely on her way to her firey end.

  9. Loved the David and Goliath imagery at the end, and your suggestion that Ariché aim a little lower - excellent thinking LOL!

In their filming close ups they sure made it look like the devil (Rosa) was tempting Christ (Paz) to sin i.e. stray from her goal. [Temptation of Christ - the devil tries 3 times to tempt Christ and divert him from his goal of becoming the Messiah.] Someone is well versed in biblical imagery/allegory here.

I could have done without the long staring pauses, but that seems to be a trademark of this particular director.

Thanks much Madeleine for your faithful recapping of such a dramatic episode.

  10. Urban- I think us never seeing Ariche's mom and grandpa is a running joke. It seems that his mom is working all the time and has just come to expect that Ariche will be cared for by Paz, Luci and Magda, and the rest of the pueblo. His dad abandoned them when Airche was baby. He's basically Luci's kid and Paz's grandchild since he spends all his time with them.

  11. The scene where Magda bumped the door - hilarious! What I couldn't believe was that Brigida came in all angry holding her cheek - i.e. admitting she'd been listening at the door.

I think at one point Magda said Brigida had the face of a poorly paid sergeant LOL!

I think Max (or Rod?) said Brigida was a necessary evil, and Max said having her around kept Rosa tranquil. Sort of an explanation as to why they have that bizarre bit of baggage in the household. Yet Rosa is far more dependent on Mati than Brigida.

  12. Madelaine: this was wonderful. Smart, savvy and sweet. How are you? "How are you? Miss you. Click!" and (Note to Frigid, hey hope your face freezes like that, jus' sayin') were among my favorites. A real treat.

Madelaine, there has been some periodic "skillet banter" on the blog, Mike and Emilia come primarly to mind.

Fresh takes on the David and Goliath theme: Paz vs. Rosa, Magda vs. Frigid and Ariche vs. Rod. I was cheering Paz loudly, laughing at Magda's antics and giving dear Ariche many "attaboys". Marvelous scenes all.

Katie, Anon and Gretchen, I think Max has certainly crossed over into non-redemption territory. Even the vilest person loves something or someone - children, pets. That doesn't make them less of a monster. Drugging Vicky and then holding her hostage, handcuffing her when she was crying and begging was just too much for me.

Vivi, Paz is indeed a great actress. She held her own with Laura Flores, a huge feat. The array of expressions that flickered across Rosa's face - triumph, fear, triumph, were so subtle, if you blinked, you missed them.

UA, I've wondered about Ariche's parents as well. I'm hoping he will end up with Luci and Rod, but time will tell.

    Thanks Again Madelaine!

    Diana

  13. Oh that was fun last night. Wonderful recap Madelaine as always! Loved your detailed recount of the Paz/Rosa scenes. Our lionness stayed strong. I was so proud. Now she needs to start spilling the truth to people. I think Rosa underestimates her, plus being completely insane, she thinks she can just threaten people she is right and they will go right along with that. (Well, face it, Connie and Mati pretty much have supported that attitude.)

Add me to the group that just feels like my brain is going to implode trying to figure Max out. He's so great with all the kids, and a jackass in all other dealings. The whole Vic thing just wiped out any idea he was just a ruthless businessman, he's more than that.

The kitchen scenes were priceless! I didn't get a lot of the dialog, but heck, you just knew that were making fun of Lurch and it made me smile. Wouldn't it be fun to have Magda around all the time to drive Lurch crazy?

Not feeling the Melissa/Claudio thing either. Hope they don't go there. I wonder if there is an idea to pair him up with someone if it would be someone from the Het Het gang. Maybe even Paz? His waxing poetic about loving being at the party, etc. made me wonder.

Now, I want to see the end of that showdown at the Ariche corral. Hope the little dude gets in a good hit. Lord know Rod deserves it. Why is he the galan and Pato only second fiddle? Thought the heroes were supposed to have looks, braun AND BRAINS.

  14. An Oh Snap recap!

What a great episode and recap. A thunderstorm rolled in just as Paz and Rosa threw down and the CC's went crazy but it was still intense and I was relieved that Rosa didn't use the Max is your daddy lie. If I was scoring the debate I would go with Paz for the facts and Rosa for the manipulation. Rosa seems to have an unlimited supply of money with which to throw at anyone.

So Rod comes a calling an Archie ain't having none of it. I, too, thought he was aiming high.

Why is Rod looking for Luci...are we going back to the stalking days when he was romancing her. "Luci I'm here to give you a second chance." Rod is an idiot.

Between Rufuio and Podia, it was a steller night for Uni.

  15. an oh snap recap indeed!

yes the line from Violeta: 'pongan su circo en otra carpa' (put up your circus at someone else's carp!) to Marcial and his wife was priceless...

LOVED the scene Pato/Paz right in front of Rosa... Rosa is so jealous strict with her children. Pato being so nice to Paz and Paz returning in kind were like a kick in the rear for Rosa, no matter what Paz does after she leaves.
I really hope Paz tells at least Claudio even if she makes him swear he will not tell Luci, so Claudio will become Luci's ever stronger protector.

the scenes in the kitchen were a riot indeed... LOVED them calling Frigida a soldier and Mati saying she had been waiting long for Frigida to have someone put her in her place...

Max.. well, i have seen this type of character, creepy crazy to the core but with a soft genuine spot in his heart for his children.. LOVED the joke about Brig being a necessary evil, but i agree that Mati is even more vital to Rosa than Frigida.

Melissa and Claudio... well, i think Claudio will be busy enough if he finds out soon that Luci is his blood child, but i guess i would not have that big a problem with them taking Melissa and him somewhere... after all they are two available adults, even with the difference in age.

I would have loved to see Connie join the ladies in the kitchen.

and yes, my fav moment was the David/Golliath scene in the end. YOU go Ariche!!

Thanks again for a stellar recap Madeleine

  16. Anon,
I too believe Rod will be stalking Luci for a while but he still does not have his head in the right place, he will be looking for her probably trying to get her to admit there is something between her and Claudio (well, dude, if you are already divorced, what business is it of yours anyway??) rather than appologizing for letting her stand in the chopping block while Rosa (I am afraid the last thing on his mind will be to ask her to tell him her side of the story, which is the only thing she needed him to do back then), Julie and Gala made gumbo out of her heart in his face... YOU have some KNEELING to do, buddy! NOT HER!!

  17. The whole jealousy of Claudio thing is so lame. He found out right afterwards that Claudio is her lawyer - that explains right away any relationship. I agree that it's the blind, unreasonable jealousy that he inherited from mums. Why on earth did Luci fall in love with such an immature cretin, anyway?

Methinks the boy is looking for excuses of why it's not all his fault. (Mom's genes again.) Let his suffering continue, jerk!

  18. Audrey, totally agree on your last line: Me thinks...

  19. Good Morning y'all and thanks for all the great comments. Loved that skillet scene, when I recapped another TN we were talking about making a cast iron skillet upside down cake, and someone remarked that a commentator threatened to take a skillet and wack someone with it and that just reminded me of that, lol.

Katie- agree with you about Magda, I love her character. She and Paz make such a good team.

Vivi- agree with you about Max's evil twin lol. I still can't get over the fact that he treats certain people so badly and treats his kids with love and devotion, the exact opposite of Rosa.

Gretchen- thank you about the Frigid remarks. I really laughed through the whole scene and was cheering the ladies on. It's about time Frigid got some comeuppance!

Urban- agree about Ariche's parents. I thought in the beginning that Ariche was a part of Luci's family like maybe Luci's son, lol. He is always with Luci's family and I agree with Vivi and what she said about him.

Audrey- you are so right with the devil tempting Christ. That is a great allegory. It seems as if good versus evil is a running theme through this TN.

Diana- you are so right about the David and Goliath theme too. The little people standing up to the powerful.

Daisynjay- You are so right about Conny and Mati, they are enablers of the worst sort. One of them, really both of them, ought to stop now and start telling.

Anon 7:59- the thunderstorm makes a great backdrop for that scene, doesn't it. Kind of like for scary movies when you watch and a thunderstorm pops up. Though I don't like thunderstorms, the lightening specially.

Audrey, Marta and Vivi- so agree with you all about Rod's jealousy over Claudio. Rod needs to get his head out of his a$$ and if he loves Luci so much as he claims he does, well then start fighting for her. I too agree about since when is a hug a hint of somethin', somethin', Rod needs to grow up. I wonder if Gagme had been caught hugging some guy while they dated, he would be the same sort of jealous. I really hate to say this but Max was right, go talk to Luci already.

And wasn't it funny about Max? How he knows what the real relationship is with Lui and Claudio and he can't say a word! If you saw the epi, his eyes were giving so much away.Rod was too dim to catch on.

I love the characters and the way they are protrayed in this TN. There is a lot of depth here. I really like that the underdogs here have such spines, no wailing and whining, they are doing instead. I like Abismo too, I really think we need to send Paz, Magda and Luci over to the Yucatan to whoop some butt on Alfie, Carmel-Ho and give Elisa a spine, just sayin'.

  20. Oh and Vivi thank you for the undercover cop info. I did hear Flor say cop, but I didn't understand the undercover part. So I wonder how long Marcial has been doing this undercover job, and exactly what he knows about Lastra and perhaps Max as well. Another mystery to be solved. Here we were thinking there was something not right with him. I am glad he isn't a skirt chaser, but actually will probably have more of a storyline later.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yep, Flor spilled the beans that he's been investigating Inferno. That's when Vio really lost it and said he's just been using her and threw them out with her skillet in hand.

The skillet joke is a long running one on this site between our dear Emilia and beloved Mike. It was great to see a character use one as a weapon. I hope Emilia and Mike were watching! :)

  22. Can Polo get any sweeter? Open your eyes Vio! You've just asked out loud if any man will love you and respect you, and in walks this handsome guy who is always there for you, who has brought flowers for your mom. Hello!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Vivi, totally agree that Polo is so right for Vio in so many ways. nice, calm, reasonable, humble, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Vivi, you betcha Mike and I were watching! I was bouncing in my seat hollering for Vio to grab a skillet and whomp Marcial. The skillet was kinda thin and Marcial is so hardheaded, she might have ended up with a wok! Iron is always the best choice, just ask Mike. jaja...

Thanks for this great recap, Madelaine. 'Oh Snap' is about right. I kinda wish Ariche would have let fly and at least winged Rod. No sense aiming for his head - it's too hard.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Emilia I thought it was you and Mike with the skillet but I wasn't sure, lol. Love your new avatar with the beautiful baby. Agree with you about Ariche and Rod's head, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks Madeleine. Love your passionate take on things. You're either for 'em or agin 'em. No middle ground!

Thought the prolonged scene between Rosalena and Paz was incredibly powerful. Both actresses really rose to the occasion.

And Audrey, agree completely. The scene was very reminiscent of the temptation of Christ---- the ssssslithery, hisssssing insinuations of Rosalena were chillingly diabolical. Quite able to believe that she has been taken over by an incubus (or is it succubus?..well, whatever), the devil is in her, that's for sure.

And I, like the other commenters, am very confused about the character of Maximino. I have never seen such a multi-layered ambivalent character in a telenovela before. We do sometimes see these extreme poles in real life, but usually these novela characters are more consistently drawn. Interesting how the writers are throwing us some new stuff here.

The Norteños are fun. The Big City folks are not. But we have Pato, Jana and Melissa to show us that there's hope yet. Will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Madeleine and Vivi...thanks for all your hard work getting this one established on CarayCaray. You definitely both deserve Purple Hearts and the highest commendation.

  27. Madelaine - terrific recap.

Loved Magda bumping the door in Frigida's face and Paz pointing out to Rosa that Rod chased her Luci, not the other way around.

Max is a sicko, no matter how well he treats his kids. He's wonderful to you only if you're a part of his team (the family) or doing his bidding. Otherwise, you're just a bug to be squashed. That Vicky is about the same age as his daughter makes him even worse to me. How Vicky will manage to stomach having sex with him again is a mystery to me.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I too agree had Magda been in the library with Loco Rosa and Paz she'd wipe the floor with Loco Rosa. Think Frigid even figured out real fast you don't mess with Magda. Now we see where Vio's feistyness comes from. She is her mama's daughter.

I too was hoping Vio would go ninja with the frying pan. LOL

I think either Paz will tell Luci about her parents when they get back to BFE. Either that or Claudio will happen on that little tidbit while he's investigating Max.

Little Ariche: Rod's got a major soft spot for that kid.

    Paula

    ReplyDelete
  29. Dead to Me better watch out for that sling shot. Little Ariche is fiercely protective of Luci and he really is heartbroken. That was a sad little sight.

Once again we get the contrast in parents between Max and Rosa. Max sincerely wants his children to be happy no matter what. He stands up for Luci because of course he knows the truth that his blockhead son isn't bothering to learn. Even though Linares is his mortal enemy he wants Rod to have Luci because she makes him happy. Rosa on the other hand wants her children to love her but only if they are circling her like little docile planets. They can only be happy if she approves and Luci ain't ever going to make the cut even if she outdid mother Theresa.

Cowardly Conny and Mati sure hotfooted it past the Den of Inquisition oops pardon me the library once Conny found out who was inside.

Big points for Paz for laying into Rosa and telling her some home truths. I'm am concerned however that sly Rosa may have coerced Paz into keeping silent with all that palaver about how Luci will hate her for keeping the secret for so long. Paz has always worried about that but she needs to stand firm. I'm horribly afraid the secret will remain just that until the pregnancy gets out. Luci will need both her mother and father at that point since God only knows what Rosa will do. I hate the TN Tease that we are getting.

Poor Rosa she thinks money can buy anything and anyone. First things she does is whip out the checkbook having no idea how proud Paz is. The woman certainly is bad at reading people or at least decent people.

Love how fast Pato got down there to meet Luci's mom. He should have no trouble charming her.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Judy B- I tend to get passionate about this these TN's don't I, lol.The only gray character to me is Max, I hate to say it. I like him, but on the other hand, can't stand him. Love how he treats his family and even Luci, who he sticks up for constantly. On the other hand, can't stand him cause of what he has done to Vicky and Claudio. They so didn't deserve what he dished out to them. His problem I think is if he thinks you betrayed him, you are dust, if you aren't part of his family. Even though neither Claudio or Vicky betrayed him. Vicky didn't sleep with Aldo, she just wanted to have some fun, instead of waiting around for him to call. Max just wanted Claudio out so he could run things. The sad part of all of this, will be when his kids find out what he has done and how this will effect them, especially when they have a Mama that is totally insane.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Paula- so agree with you about Frigid lol. I liked the back pedalling she did, when Magda said, yeah, let's go tell your patrona how you listen at doors, lol. Too funny.

Decie Girl- So agree with you about Mati and Conny. Conny at least should have walked right on in and asked what the hey, was going on in there. I have always hoped Conny would be the one to out Rosa. Maybe she still will.

As far as Paz telling Luci, I am really hoping she does on Friday. That would be great, but I don't think, after the inital telling, Luci won't stay mad at Paz for long. I hope she transfers that dislike to Rosa who instigated this to begin with.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The one thing I wonder about: Claudio just spent 20 years in jail, but seems to know all about computers, etc. He never appeared to be bemused, befuddled, bewildered, at the 'modern' world he was reborn into. Go Claudio! He's my favorite character by far.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thank you Madelaine.

Showdown---Yes, moma lion fought hard but with tears in her eyes and a subdued look on her face toward the end, I would have to say that Senora Loca won that round---besides, it's a little to early for team Luci to score big points.

The trailer shows Rod talking to Luciana---I don't expect anything to come of it. After all, Rod still thinks that their problem/unhappiness was all her doing as "she was dishonest and deceived him." Also, I still suspect that he will go back to gagme before he finally comes to his senses. It's way to early for a reconciliation.

  34. "circling her like docile planets"...good one Decie Girl!

Stay passionate Madelaine...that's why I love about you.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Emilia

Claudio is sharp an computers were standard in the business world more than 20 years ago so he would have been familiar with them before he went to jail. I like him too and can't blame Melissa for crushing on him.

I like how Luci's extended family welcomed him in among them and made him feel at home. That certainly would not have happened at Casa Hell where Rosa claims Max doesn't like strangers in but I'm convinced it is her who is the unwelcoming one. Other that her new BFF's the Snoop Sisters she certainly doesn't seem to have any friends nor does she go out much.

Hate that we have to wait until Friday to see what happens next. Kind of envy people watching a novela for the firs time and getting a first rate one like this. They have no idea how overwrought and terrible some of them can be. We like them however because they do provide a kind of cheezy fun but when there is a good one I skip the rest.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Gringo- thank you and you may be right, with TN's it always takes a long time for the good team to score points.

Judy B.- thank you and am so looking forward to your recaps for this one. Your recaps rock.

Anon 2:48- so agree with you about the TN's and how if you get a really good one first, the others disappoint. My very first Tn that I watched was CS 2009, I didn't think it was bad, but then I saw La Verdad Oculta, PVAA, and DA and saw how really good all of them were.

Speaking of which, what does anyone know about Sortielgo? It is coming back to Uni, I think it is replacing Corazon Apasionado, I dont' think Dinero on late night is near the end yet. I know it was recapped here, but I like to hear people's opinions first. So please let me know.

  37. excellent episode and excellent recap!

    JR

    ReplyDelete
  38. Madelaine- Sorti had some of the best romantic moments between the hero and heroine of most of the tns I've seen. The hero, though a hot head, was smart. The hero and heroine had lots of time together. The story had goog reveals and twists along the way-- maybe a few too many twists in the last third. I think the weak link were the villains. They should have been developed more, but they were decent. I think you will enjoy it. But if it's on in the day, they will chop the heck out of the love scenes, which were quite steamy. Uni already censored most of them when the show was on at 9pm.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Vivi...I'm with you. The love scenes were the best. The very first seduction scene was a classic. Right up there with Amor Real. But Madelaine, you'd probably need to watch that episode on the computer.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm passing on Sorti not a Levy fan. CA in its final weeks proving how horrible a novela can be since it has descended into TN lunacy. This week alone one character was run off the road while riding her horse, involved in a car crash when the brakes were cut, and went to jail for killing her husband, meanwhile one of her sister's was raped by her stepfather, the other sister's best friend is having a TN fake pregnancy after accusing the blind hubby, oh and another female character has been poisoned and left paralyzed (she has all the dirt on one of the two horrific villains. Watching this dreck (only because of my shingles problem) only makes me appreciate Refugio that much more.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Decie Girl- I think you would be pleasantly surprised by Levy in Sorti. He got really good direction there.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh, yeah! I had a sympathetic instinct to duck when Violeta grabbed her skillet. Sounded like an aluminum one when she dropped it. Violeta needs to learn that only black iron works on the male cabeza.

Rosa vs. Paz was excellent and certainly adds to Laura Flores points towards a premio. That was intense on the part of both actresses.

Thinking about what mi querida esposa said about Claudio's computer skills after 20 years in prison - yes, Anon at 2:48pm, there were business computers then. I had a Zenith 248 to play with. 20 MB hard drive, a few 5.25" floppies and a modem. MS-DOS v5. The secretary and I figured out how to pass e-mail 15 feet between our desks but it was a burden and we quickly gave up. What internet? A dot matrix printer that weighed 70 lbs and used cloth typewriter ribbons. So yeah, for Claudio to be so good with his laptop, internet research, loading viewing imagery, etc, is pretty amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Madelaine, I'm late to the party and haven't been around recently since I have barely had time to keep up with the episodes but not the CC2 recaps and wonderful comments. Today was a treat with no pressure since we get tonight off to regroup with the awards show on. Your enthusiasm and humor carried me through laughing all the way in remembering the fabulous scenes in the library and kitchen especially.

Emilia I laughed so hard at your comment of Violie turning the wimpy skillet into a wok. Great image, you obviously know your skillets! Love your new abuelita y nieta fabulosa image on your postings too! I have been enjoying the larger image on FB.

Max does pull our heart strings in two totally opposite ways. He is possible the best father figure on any TN ever but is so slimey and hateful with poor Vicki. I could get a little vicarious pleasure about what he does to humiliate Rosa Loca but I hope the Vicki torture scenes get pulled off soon. It is interesting to me that they have given Max this magnanimous wise father side with his kids while Rosa Loca has almost no good qualities. She is so taken up with her "society position" and she isn't really kind with her own children. She wheedles and manipulates them so they will do what she wants but thankfully only Rod the Naco seems to have any of her bad traits like jealousy. Pato is so kind to her it hurts me to watch. I have true longing for him to find someone to step up and deserve his devotion. He is a galan of the first order.

For several CC2ers who have expressed fear that Claudio is inappropriate with Melissa I disagree totally, totally! Melissa seems to have a little crush but she has no father and Max is kind of cool and neutral with her so Claudio coming along and giving her all the encouragement to complete her thesis and achieve all that she can become I feel is completely selfless on his part. We are seeing what nurturing fatherly qualities he has as a prelude to discovering the truth about Luci and him. I also think the set up makes Melissa one of the people that can spill the beans if Rosa has scared Paz too much. She seems to love truth and be driven to see the right things done. I can't wait for her to be a functioning lawyer. Maybe Claudio can start a mentoring program to turn out more worthy lawyers in the future with Melissa's help.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Decie Girl - totally agree on the CA circo. Just two days before the heroine was slapped around and then drugged by the bad guys, locked up in a manicomio, and rescued - all in one episode!

And don't forget she was tied up to a tree in the woods and left alone (what, for the wild animals to get her?) after being tossed from her horse when it was deliberately run off the road by the guy in the truck.

I always wonder if these Venivision ones are actually written by 8th graders. It's amazing how bad they can be (think El Tal).

    ReplyDelete
  45. Audrey

The guy in the truck was her former fiancé who she thought dead but who was in a manicomio. He came back, pretended to be just a lookalike and with his mother and our heroine's slutty cousin are plotting to kill poor Patricia for that old standby venganza. He is nuts and in addition to running her off the road he killed her husband and before that choked some girl to death. It is so bad it is hilarious. What makes it fun is that there are three actors in it who are normally galans or who have been yet only one of them, the scruffy Guy Ecker is the hero.Univ is cutting the heck out of some scenes. When our heroine was tied to the tree after being knocked off the horse two guys came along and killed a snake that was ready to pounce but when they recognized her as the woman who killed the patron they split. Next scene hero and doc are carrying her into the house. I'm eternally grateful i haven't wasted a boat load of time on it just a couple of months and Lord help us Susanna Dosamantes as the grandmother is the worst shrieking actress I've seen in years.

Some Venevision shows have been excellent but this ain't one of them. They do however tend to be a bit or sometimes a ton over the top.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Loved the recap and commenting today. I just hope that someone loads up Ariche with a bunch of rocks for his slingshot. Rod's skull is so thick right now it'll take a few to get through to him. Then send the kid over to the Torreslandia house. Maybe with Vio and her skillet. Half the people in that house could use a skillet to the head.

  47. Decie Girl:

What's really funny, is that I guess I was out of the loop for a while, because I didn't realize that the older guy that was shot was her husband!!! I totally missed that she was even married!

Right - my husband reminded me about the boa constrictor that was unceremoniously tossed over the bushes LOL!

I REALLY liked the bruja voodoo ceremony scene during the brake failure car crash. Give me a break!

Last show I saw Marlene Favela in was Los Herederos del Monte, and that was just as bad. Maybe worse, because in that one the plot just kept repeating itself! It never went anywhere! That one was by RTI Columbia which is perhaps a junior highschool in Bogotá. I think I gave up on Telemundo after that one.

    ReplyDelete
  48. My main problem with Telemundo's novelas is that most of the actors talk too fast.

The only one I really liked in the last few years was Dona Barbara.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I know you watched La Reina del Sur. Didn't you like that one? It was a challenge with all the different foreign accents. Amazing production.

Other than that, the best thing I saw on Telemundo was Corazón Abierto, a Columbian production with Columbian accents. The Telemundo produced novelas tend to train their actors to have a sort of generic Latin American Spanish accent, but it's quite different from the Mexican accents of the Televisa novelas. I had to adapt to the difference.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Actually, I should add that Telemundo produced Donde Está Elisa and Alguien te Mira were both pretty darn good. Kind of CSI Miami meets telenovela - sort of.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Cheryl- so good to see you here amiga. I know when this TN was at two hours every night there was so much info, it was even hard for us recappers to keep up and I know our recaps were long, but it was well worth it. I like your insight into Claudio, you know I never thought of it that way with Melissa. But she is crushing on him, so we'll have to see how that goes.

Vivi and Judy B- Thanks so much for telling me about Sorti. I am going to watch it and what I miss on the love scenes I'll watch online. It sounds very interesting.

Audrey- so funny you mention La Reina del Sur, I am watching that online now, cause I don't get Telemundo with my cable and I heard so much about it, when I saw they had epi's on line I started watching. It is pretty good so far. Their accents are kind of strange, cause their s sounds like a TH but isn't that how the Spanish speak in Spain. I was in Spain for about two weeks when I was in the Navy and they sounded like that too, I was in Rota.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Didn't Telemundo also do La Rosa y la Espada/Zorro? I liked it for the english subtitles (pre-Caray days) and Zorro was nice to look at. The story wasn't too bad either of you ignored some of the extra elements (like canibals and amazons). It certainly wasn't worse than El Talisman!

  55. No spoilers, por favor!

Re Telemundo's novelas: I did watch and enjoy Zorro and some of the ones before it like El Cuerpo del Deseo, La Mujer en el Espejo, Gitanas, and a few others. I did watch La Reina del Sur but had a lot of trouble with the accents and some of the vocabulary.

When I tried watching Venevision stuff back in the 90s I couldn't. The actors mumbled and the writing was so sexist and so bad. My most recent experience of their stuff was two episodes of Sacrificio de Mujer, which was another version of Cristal. It was... a waste of four hours.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Telemundo did a novela that was as extraordinary success - the most popular overseas sales ever a couple of years ago: "Bella Calamidades" with Danna Garcia and Segundo Cernadas. But the crazy thing was, they never showed it in the US. I've seen bits online, and it's hilarious. Silly, slapstick, but still hilarious. Just amazing they didn't premier it in the US.

Madeleine - yes, the "th" sound for soft c's and z's is characteristic of the Spanish accent as well as a certain rhythm and dropping of pitch toward the end of a sentence. La Reina also displays the Galician accent, accents from North Africa, and a really cute accent specific to Bogotá Columbia (forgot the name of it).

  57. Since we have quite a few new folks to Caray Caray commenting, which is fantastic, it may be time to get a refresher on the rules of the blog. The main one is this is a spoiler free zone. It's recommended that you don't read what's on Wikipedia, at least not beyond the first paragraph description, becuase these shows are first shown in Latin America meaning they are months ahead of us in plot development, and the info posted on Wiki will likely have spoilers (and many times Wiki is just plain wrong). We can speculate and say what we wish or expect the characters to do, but no mentioning things you KNOW will happen because you read or watched ahead. It's just not fair to those watching in real time.

The other two main rules are easy. Limit the gossip about the personal lives of the actors (especially love lives), and be respectful of each other, remembering that this is a place to come and have fun. I think we all manage to do that pretty well! Thanks everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Telemundo:

Alguien te Mira was wonderful. Great mystery story and twists and turns. Also very good atcing. I started watching Corazon Valiente, but am taking a break from it right now, partly because the Uni/Televisa fair is holding my interest more, and also because that tn has disolved into a bit of a circo plot wise.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hi Y'all, I removed the spoilers. And it is as Vivi and Urban said, this a spoiler free zone. We like watching in real time.

Audrey- thank you about the accents. I really like them, they are very soft sounding, although as Urban says they do talk very fast. But I am getting the gist of it.

  60. Audrey

On CA Patricia married her sister's father only to get back control of the ranch. She showed up completely dressed in black which annoyed him. On the wedding night she slipped out the window with the deed to the ranch and crazy Marcos came in and shot him. He of course later put the gun in her room where in true novela fashion she found it and picked it up leaving her fingerprints all over it. Armando, the dead hubby was obsessed with her because she looks just like her dead mother - the love of his life.

One of the things i like about Telemundo novelas is that the galans are not all pretty boys with muscles like they are on Televisa. They have a fairly large stable of very talented actors and they take risks with their story telling. I'll watch anything that has Jorge luis Pila in it, like Donde Esta Elise. He is gorgeous and talented. I understand they are making a sequel to La Reina.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Those Telemundo boys plenty hunky and pretty too. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Speaking of other novelas, I was shocked, I tell you shocked to see Sergio Reynosa in Mar de Amor as a good guy. I have never seen him in anything other than El Tal as Piggorio, so it was a surprise to see him in Mar de Amor.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I first saw Sergio Reynoso in Abrazame Muy Fuerte as the very honest local police chief. He was also a hard-working widowed veterinarian in Barrera de Amor where -- interestingly -- he was also the father of Aaron Diaz.

There are a few actors who cross back and forth as good and evil. Cesar Evora is well-known for that; the deep voice is a guarantee that he will be a permanent villain when he hits 60.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Max is definitely the most interesting and complex character here...
he is sensitive and caring for his children...
totally wicked bossy/possessive/crazy in relating to people like Vicky, Lastra, etc.
but he also has a soft spot with Aurora, and by association, Luciana. (I know part of his soft spot for Luciana is how little he got to know her and knowing she is Rodrigo's beloved... but i think it is also partly direct feelings toward her by Max himself).
Now, whatever happened 20 yrs ago between Max, Rosa, Aurora and Claudio created total jealousy/envy on Rosa's part and also seemingly some resentment on Max' part... it almost seems to me that Max was in love with Aurora but when Aurora chose his best friend instead (Claudio), Max married Rosa but always felt like he had to settle for the short stick, envying Claudio not only for who he was, but also for having Aurora's love. But at least, in total opposite to Rosa's total hatred for Luciana, in Max's case, his feelings toward Luciana are more of admiration/association with Aurora and not so much relating/associating Luciana and Claudio. which is funny, both Rosa and Max associate Luciana with Aurora but their reaction/feelings about that are totally opposite extremes.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Marta- ITA that Max and Rosa react to Luci in relation to how they each felt about Aurora. I think Max would love for Rod to have what he couldn't-- Aurora/Luci.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Urban thanks I will have to check them out.

Marta and Vivi- agree with you about Max/Aurora/Claudio/Rosa, but didn't Mati say a couple epi's ago that Rosa has always been jealous even as a child? I wonder how Conny handled that when they were little, seeing as Conny is her sister.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Yeah, it was Mati who said that Rosa was jealous, even as a child. It seems that Connie has always taken the back seat to Rosa and let her have her way. Which of the two is older? It's never been made clear. Rosa's older children are older than both Connie's children. But Connie also has a career as a real estate agent, so she may have waited to have kids while Rosa had hers young. The way Mati and Connie coddle her, it seems like Rosa is the younger. But the way Rosa bosses Connie around makes it seem like she's older.

    ReplyDelete
  68. UA- I forgot that Sergio Reynoso was Aaron's father in Barrera! He (Sergio) was such a good guy in that one. That was my second novela after Amor Real, and such a let down (multiple personalities even!) but it does prove that actor's can come back after a terrible show.

Fortunately no one here will have that issue. There really doesn't seem to be a weak link in all the details of this story. Even minor characters like Lula (Jana's friend) and Luchita in Het Het serve their purpose and seem more well rounded and thought out than players in other shows.

I thought that Connie was older. I think Rosa gets bossy only because she has money, and Connie lets her get away with it because Rosa is her baby sister. I hope Connie stops this soon.

    Kelly

    ReplyDelete
  69. Conny is the younger sister. Rosa always refers to her as hermanita. Actually Conny's kids are around Pato's age .

I don't think Max ever had anything but admiration for Aurora. There were a couple of conversations when it was made pretty clear that Rosa and max fell in love at first sight, He talked about her eyes and sense of humor and Conny once mentioned the same thing. I do think that Rosa's insane jealousy soured the marriage and Max once mentioned that he wanted the kind of marriage that Claudio and Aurora had. which Rosa attitude prevented hum from having. Any thing between Max and Aurora is strictly in Rosa head.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Ya know, I don't know which one is older either. I like that Conny has a career, so she isn't dependant on Rosa at all. It would make sense if Rosa were younger, probably spoiled rotten and this is the way she turned out. It's either her way or the highway.

Kelly agree with you about the minor characters. They are also so much fun, like Dona Luchita and Copio, even the Chisme Ladies lol.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Decie Girl- our comments crossed thank you for that. You are right. So maybe Rosa was spoiled rotten?

    ReplyDelete
  72. People call their sibs hermanito or hermanita, even if they are older. It's a term of endearment, so it may or may not mean Rosa is older.

I also agree that Max loves Rosa and always has, but he admired Aurora for all the things Rosa wasn't/isn't. He wanted a warm, loving wife, who supported him, not tore him down emotionally. He wanted a partner and helpmate, and what he's found in Rosa is an emotional drain. But the love is still there. I believe him each time he says it, and you can see how frustrated he gets that Rosa just won't change.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Another reason i think that Rosa is the older one. She orders Conny around and lecturers her one her behavior, like her romance with Oscar. She also has Conny under her control vis-a-vi the secret. As the oldest of four sisters I would find it hard to believe that any of my sibs would give me orders that i would docilely follow. I also think that Rosa's jealousy as a child began when she had a little sister and she probably had been a spoiled only child for three or four years. Perhaps as we go on we'll find out more about that dynamic.

  74. I suspect that Rosa and Connie are "Catholic twins", meaning less than a year's age difference. I don't think it matters which way.

It's entirely possible that when they were girls Connie was "the smart one" and Rosa was "the pretty one." That sets them up for Connie having a career and Rosa marrying money or an up-and-coming man. Rosa might have gotten all the attention for being pretty and resented any attention given to Connie for any reason once she became aware of this.

Flashbacks to their teen years would be muy interesante.

  75. I wonder if these writers give as much thought to the characters psychology as we do! Some of you commentors should be on staff as consultants.
