Capitulo
20: The Hormonal Tidalwave Begins
Lo
del pasado
Andres
talks with Rafael, telling him his intentions. Creepy string-section
music as Alonssso bothers Camila while she is bathing and thinking
about Viviana's advice. If we needed further proof that they did not
actually vo-di-oh-do-do, her discomfort was it, por supuesto.
Lo de
Nuevo
Viviana's
Apt: Rafael and Andres continue their conversation with Rafael
continuing to defend Camila. Andres is being stubborn in thinking
that Camila is behind his recent troubles, as we expect at this stage
of the story. Rafael admits his interest in Camila and Andres takes
this badly, thinking he cannot trust Rafael.
Camila's
Bathroom: Alonssso picks up the sponge and starts to wash her
back; she is not liking this at all. She is telling him this will
still take time. That he is still fully dressed in a suit and tie
(white shirt this time) is creepy and clearly a power play. She is
as creeped out as we are; she is covering up her assets.
Kitchen:
Padre Baldomero talks with Natalia, asking her why the office phone
number was changed. Natallia isn't sure why this was demanded by
Alonssso, but she relates this incident is to a long-distance call
and it was followed by instructions to change things on the website.
The padre knows something is fishy when Natalia explains how nervous
her reptilian boss was.
Outside
Hacienda: Luzama tries to go out to meet with Pablo but is
caught by Leoncio, who tries to drag her inside. He gets insulting,
she tries to say she is out for air because she couldn't sleep. He
fires his rifle, suspecting that she is meeting someone. Pablo is
hanging out nearby. The sound of the shot attracts Alonssso, who
tells him off because of the noise and – like Luzma – accuses him
of being drunk. Alonssso doesn't accept his explanation about
hearing an animal in the dark. Camila comes out to investigate, then
tells him she will be sleeping in the cabaña. He's not liking this
at all over the music of suspicion because they are possibly being
overheard.
Camila's
Bedroom: As she prepares to go to bed she talks to herself
about her uncertain feelings for Alonssso. She is not sure if she
loves him or even wants him to touch her. [Note to Camila: If you
are asking yourself these questions, the answer is “No lo amas!”]
Master
Bedroom: Alonssso peevishly swears to get cured so he can boink
Camila. [Note to Alonssso: Not in this lifetime, reptile!]
Split
screen Camila's Bedroom/Andres' Bedroom: Don Vicente Fernandez
sings beautifully for them and us. She thinks about Andres and their
various encounters. He thinks about Camila, afraid he will fall for
her. [Note to Andres: Don't fight it, guapo; it's a
force of nature.]
Bulls
grazing. [Salud!]
Lazcano
Lair: Mama Dragon thinks about Augustina talking about her and
El Diablo, the words echoing in the catacombs of her mind as she
downs her favorite venom. She is not happy and she puts the glass
down in anger and exits the room.
Bulls
running [Salud!]
Parlour:
Alonssso, in a bizarre role reversal, takes a call from Isadora and
runs to the “rescue”, worried that something is wrong.
Outside
Hacienda: Leoncio reports some mierda taurino to Camila about
the night before, then departs. Luzma approaches and they walk off
to talk.
Augustina's
Bedroom: She talks with El Diablo on the phone, sounding
inappropriately like a quinceañera over her relationship with him.
He is considerably less enthused but fakes it. We are wondering what
else he will have to fake going forward in his scheme.
Outside
Hacienda: Luzma has told Camila about the previous night; they
part company.
Albarrán
Hacienda, outside: The guests are having breakfast with Pablo.
The parents talk about having to take a flight somewhere while their
bratty daughter (Iliana) indicates she would prefer to stay. Pablo
helps the parents. Alas, he leaves his cell phone at the table and
bratgirl picks it up. She calls the voicemail and listens to to
Luzma's apology about the previous night. She erases the voice mail
and smirks. Bitch.
Outside
Hacienda: Andres talks to the surveyors, the lead man mentions
that measurements are being taken that lead him to believe that
construction is being planned. Rafael approaches. Rafael tells him
he believes he is innocent of the charges against him and that he
believes that Camila will also believe in him. Andres is still not
buying this but at least they appear to be making up their
differences.
Osvaldo
Becerra's Office: Padre Baldomero calls on him to ask about Don
Daniel's change in his will. Minor key music indicating brain
activity and mystery underscore this. However, Osvaldo was also
surprised. Don Daniel had gone to the office to receive an e-mail
and came out with the intent to change his will. He asks if Becerra
can think of any reason for a sudden change.
Outside
Hacienda: Andres thinks that the reason for the assessment is
something beyond the intent to sell the property. Rafael tells him
that one of them is right about Camila and the other is wrong; they
agree to observe and find out . Leoncio arrives, but fortunately
does not hear anything of this conversation. All walk off in
different directions.
Parlour:
Alonssso arrive with Mama Dragon and her maletas, saying she's
had a flood due to broken plumbing and can't live there for the moment because of the
damage; she will be staying with them. Neither Camila nor Augustina
is prepared for this nor do either look overly pleased at the
prospect. [Note to Alonssso: Your mentiras will be showing.]
Isadora Dragon carries on about not being able to live in her old
house after the damage, wails about the expense of repair and
replacing furniture, and gets invited to stay.
Osvaldo
Becerra's Office: Thought leitmotif again as Padre Baldomero
thinks about his conversation with Natalia and the two men try to
work out the sequence of events. The lawyer explains that upon
discovery of Daniel's existence, Don Daniel asked him to offer him a
job to lure him to Mexico. He had received the reply that Daniel was
interested, but then Don Daniel died.
Hacienda,
Guest Suite: Augustina excorts Isadora inside, explaining it
has its own bathroom and dressing room. Mama Dragon fakes gratitude,
saying that she and Alonssso were always alone without extended
family. She offers her friendship and help. The embrace is
insincere.
Parlour:
Minor key horror music leitmotif as Alonssso uses this
situation to try to get Camila to return to the master bedroom. She
is not willing. He fake-begs her for the sake of how this will look
in front of his mother.
Osvaldo
Becerra's Office: The lawyer tells the padre about Augustina's
working for El Diablo. The padre asks how this is related to what
they are discussing. Becerra had remembered that this same man once
tired to purchase La Malquerida to turn it into a tourist trap. The
padre remembers that Don Daniel was never willing to sell the
property. El Diablo is also a friend of Alonssso. There is also
discussion of the retirement fund thing that Augustina is supposed to
be working on and when Becerra says that El Diablo is not involved in
any financial ventures, both men realize that this fish smells two
weeks old instead of only one.
Hacienda
Office: Alonssso dictates some correspondence, then suddenly
sends Natalia to the kitchen for coffee when he spots a scantily clad
female on a magazine cover laying on the desk. He jots something
down and exits.
Lakeside:
Camila takes a walk by the lake with Maja and lets her off the
leash. She spots Andres across the lake stripping down to his blue
skivvies and easing into the water. Maja gets away while she watches
the hunka-hunka burning love. She obviously likes what she sees as
our beloved Don Vicente sings for us and Maja goes into the water to
get acquainted with Andres. This seems to worry Camila although Maja
and Andres obviously like each other. When they come out of the
water Camila is clearly flustered as she calls her back and Andres
explains he was just cooling off during his lunch hour. As he walks
away Camila mock-scolds Maja.
Hacienda
Office: Natalia returns with the coffee, but Alonssso closes
his laptop, gets up, saying he is going into town.
Hacienda:
Camila calls Viviana, saying she has to talk to her. Something
happened she has to talk about now. Can they get together in a bit?
Footpath:
Luzma walks with her school friend, talking, when Valentino
approaches with helados for them in their favorite flavors. Cute guy
and he seems to like Luzma. He stares after her as she walks away
and her friend tells Valentino that Luzma only has eyes for Pablo
Albarrán.
Indoor
Pool at the Albarrán Hacienda: Iliana flirts with Pablo, who
playfully picks her up to throw her in.
Parlour:
El Diablo arrives and Mama Dragon tells him about the break-in at
her place. They tell him that she has moved in at La Malquerida. He
pretends surprise but acutely observant, as he usually is. When he
refers to Augustina as his novia, Isadora makes a face only he
notices.
Outside:
Camila looks for Rudolfo, but Andres tells her that Leoncio sent him
to do something. She asks about the assessors.
Parlour:
As predicted, El Diablo was not fooled by Isadora Dragon's story
about her lair being flooded. He is amused at her jealous move and
manner. She reminds him that they are there for the same reason.
Road:
As we are serenaded by Don Vicente, Andres drives Camila into town.
Camila turns away when she realizes he might catch her looking at
him.
Town:
Alonssso, wearing suspicious dark glasses, waits by a fountain.
Viviana's
Place: Laid-back music as Camila arrives. Viviana asks Andres
if he'd like a drink of water, but he declines and remains outside.
Camila tries to explain to Viviana that she doesn't like to be near
him because she is married and he is an employee. Flamenco music in
the background as this conversation continues. Viviana recognizes
what is happening as Camila talks about how it's been a long time
since she felt this way. She describes hiding behind a tree
watching him in the water and not being able to talk afterward! This
is crystal clear to Viviana as it is to us.
Hotel
Room: Alonssso tries one more time with a prostitute (the same
one? I wasn't sure). Edgar Allan Poe seems to be in the room with
his tell-tale heart as Alonssso clutches his chest and collapses on
the floor in front of the prostitute.
Avances:
Camila has
decided that her marriage is un fracaso, but Alonssso's collapse
threatens this decision while El Diablo and Isadora Dragon discuss
the plan to have Daniel Diaz Acosta declared legally dead.
Have at it, amigos. No dialogue tonight, but I think I got the main points in.
ReplyDeleteUrban--What a wonderful recap. Loved your descriptives. Loved the notes to Alonssso and Camila, lol.
ReplyDeleteSo Mama Dragon has moved in. I was really hoping that Camila wouldn't be forced into sharing her room with Alonssso. I hope she gets to keep a room to herself. So what is causing Alonssso to pass out, too much Viagra???
The Padre and Lic Bercera are so smart. They are halfway to figuring out what is going on. I really like that, I am a real sucker for the Padre here.
Poor Luzma. Leonicio has got to go. And that girl Iliana. I am surprised Pablo didn't have his voicemail password protected. This way she couldn't have erased it.
The best scene was our hunka-hunka- burnin' love in the water with the dog. So sweet and Camila secretly watching him. She has it bad and that's good.
Thanks, UA. You may not have had this recap up the minute the episodio ended, but it was still impressively fast.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what to make of Alonso's collapse, nor even what he saw on the cover of the magazine that prompted him to leave at once for town. Was it just a sexy woman on the cover? Or did he see an ad for some kind of "performance aid"? I'm trying to figure out what could have brought on a heart attack in a seemingly healthy young man (well, physically healthy). He sure didn't look as if he was faking the collapse. As you noted, his collapse is likely to make it more difficult for Camila to end the marriage. Though it may also provide more opportunity for her to be together with Dandres.
UA - thanks for the very quick recap. Loved your title. Our Camila is a hot hormonal mess, isn't she?
ReplyDeleteI loved the too-short scene with D'Andres and Maja! What a great bod! And the dog is beautiful.
So glad the Padre is talking with Lic. Bercera and realizing that Daniel has told him the truth. Also, now two people are aware that El Diablo and Alonssso may want to sell the ranch. I hope this isn't an anvil being hoisted over their heads.
I wondered if Alonssso faked a heart attack so he'd have a reason to not sleep with Camila while Mama Dragon is in the hacienda. Could also be too much Viagra/Cialis or an anxiety attack, but he was very worried about what his mother would think of Camila's sleeping in other quarters.
Anya
UA thanks for the recap. I too enjoyed your notes to Cami and her lizard.
ReplyDeleteI like that Cami realizes how Daniel is unnerving her. She's been in mourning and then with that crazy guy so she probably forgot what feeling amorous was like. If she's honest with herself about her situation, she allowed herself to be talked in marriage with a man who she thought was kind. It was never passionate love.
Yes Madelaine Leoncio must go and now that we know he's a drunk, it becomes imperative.
And why does this family friend have to be cling-wrap to Pablo? I know its a plot device but she's icky.
I don't think Alonso's collapse was planned. He seemed to get the number from an ad and then made arrangements on-line. His "escort" did look like the last one. It doesn't seem like he'll ever or has ever gotten his stuff to work.
Isn't Viagra or Cialis potentially dangerous if combined with alcohol? He didn't look drunk, but not everyone who is drunk looks it.
ReplyDeleteSince his physical didn't disclose any potential for this sudden chest pain I hope the writers aren't sleeping at the wheel. If I had written tonight's episode I would say that the pain was psycho-somatic in order for him to save face. Considering that Mama Dragon just moved in (the burglary of her house must be faked) he doesn't have much choice since Camila won't move back into the master bedroom.
No matter the reason, this will scuttle Camila's plans for a divorce/annulment.
Love the scenes with Andres and Maja. What a sweet dog; Camila should get a mate for her. Imagine the adorable puppies.
It's great that the Padre and the lawyer are putting their heads together. However, that is moving an anvil in place over one or the other of them.
Iliana is a brat and she needs a good hiding.
Thanks for the funny recap. I missed the first half and forgot to set the DVR. No problem - I have this recap, and I did not miss the swimming scene!
ReplyDeleteI find the story line about the teenage love to be distracting and not very interesting.
The ad must have been for Viagra or something like that. Wish that since it did not result in long, it would have resulted in "so long." Too early though.
Cindy
Yes, it's much too early for Camila to be rid of Alonssso. He's going to cause her much more grief before this is over and she can ride into the sunset with Andres (Daniel) over whom she's going to switch from hot bubble baths to cold showers.
ReplyDeleteThings are going to get tense for Alonssso with Mama Dragon under the same roof. It will be interesting when these two turn on each other later (prediction based on long history of villains doing so).
No time to read, but love the picture of the fan!
ReplyDeleteExcellent recap!
ReplyDeleteMaybe we will discover that Isadore gave something to AlonSO to cause him to be laid up with heart problems, coma, wheelchair, dementia or whatever to tie Camila to him and make the dynamic of her love for Daniel more forbidden. Would not put anything past this Isadore. She is a piece of work.
UA - Thanks. Enjoyed all your commentary.
ReplyDeleteMaja and Daniel in the water was my favorite scene too. Loved that Maja gave away Camila’s peeping. She was so embarrassed.
Poor Alonsloco can't catch a break. The way the creepy one jammed the pills into his mouth, I got the impression he took more than the recommended dosage.
The padre and Becerra are pretty astute. Sure hope nothing bad happens to either of them.
Hmmm, so Daniel is okay with seducing his supposed first cousin.
Thanks for this fun recap UA. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteThanks also to Jardinera for Friday's recap. I didn't have computer access over the weekend. Of course I always enjoy and admire your work.
Clearly, Daniel is every bit as hard-headed as Jerónomo was in CME. Jerónimo at least had credible sources feeding his paranoia and hate. Everyone is telling Daniel how wonderful Camila is and yet he insists in believing the very worst.
A couple of rather insignificant details:
Isadora said that the pipes in her house (apt.?) burst flooding the place.
Alonso visited a pharmacy and I'm pretty sure he took a pill shortly before he collapsed.
I believe that Luzma is played by the same actress who delighted us so much in LidA as Delicia. Unfortunately her talents are not being fully utilized yet in this.
Carlos
Urban- I saw the last half hour of this, just when Dan decided to take a dip and Maja, smart girl, decided to join him. Wonderful viewing and reading! Thanks Urban.
ReplyDeleteThank you Urban for the wonderful recap. I'm flying solo tonight (no online help) Wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteI also noted that it was the pipes in Isadora's apt that allegedly burst. Wonder when we'll see her place again.
And we did see Alonsssso take something as he was walking out of the pharmacy. Very unfortunate camera angle as his back was to the audience when it looks like he took the pill. Ha ha -- doesn't he know dragons can't swallow pills? Poor slob, even pharmaceuticals can't help him.
That Leoncio really gives me the creeps. Looks like the uncle everyone warns you about.
Yes!!! D'andres without a shirt and only skivvies! Wheeeee! Cute interaction between him and Camila - she was so embarassed.
Thanks UA. Loved the pond scene too. Did anyone notice that when Maja came back to Camila after being in the water with Dan that she was dry?
ReplyDeletePoor Alonso can't even take the little blue pill without a reaction. That guy just can't get a break.
Carlos: "Clearly, Daniel is every bit as hard-headed as Jerónomo was in CME. Jerónimo at least had credible sources feeding his paranoia and hate. Everyone is telling Daniel how wonderful Camila is and yet he insists in believing the very worst."
ReplyDeleteI have a theory that Dan is either consciously or subconsiously attracted to Cam and feels guilty about it so he's not willing to hear anything good about her.
Jardinera and UA: Catching up recaps. Thanks for the great reads.
Robey
UA: Thanks for great recap. What would we do without the characters vocalizing their inner thoughts out loud. We wouldn't know what is going on.
ReplyDeletePadre and Bercera are so close to figuring this one out, but, we're just going to have to suffer to it - I didn't mean through it.
I guess we'll see Alonso revived tonight. He probably had an alergic reaction to testosterone.
UA--You got everything down we needed for a terrific recap. However, for realism, the blue skivvies should also have come off. Has anyone ever tried to go back to work with his/her undies wringing wet? Maybe he brought a change of clothes and a towel since he was planning the swim, but then we could have gone just as easily for some navy blue short, short speedos. Mmmm, need to see that man shirtless more often. He has nice legs, too.
ReplyDeleteAlonesso's attack is the fault of a dose or overdose of Viagra or it's like. I wasn't sure either what was up (haha) when he saw the magazine then went to a website on his computer.
Then I saw him walking out of a pharmacia with a bottle of water, but still wasn't sure. Then he threw away the receipt and bag, then put something in his mouth and took a swig of water. He was hanging around the plaza for a little bit after that (it does require some time to take effect) before showing up in the hotel (?) room.
IS THERE ANY DOUBT?
Poor ramera, she's definitely in a pickle now. If she's smart, she should just pick up her stuff and skedaddle, leaving Alonssodown to his fate (we wish).
Anita
UA, Thanxx much and it was a great recap. I thought the swim scene was cute, also. I love that pooch. The AlLocoLonso scene was really hilariously absurd and it kind of surprised me that the topic is being so openly played out in a TN. First the prominently placed X factor magazine cover, then the scene of him having googled the info, the hurried trip to the pharmacy and the final scene with the prostitute who was please to see him again! I think you can OD on these types of meds and they have an affect on blood pressure so he found out his cardiovascular vulnerability the hard way (no pun intended, really!). When they showed the scene with him on the computer, I hoped they weren't going to the storyline of him romping with internet "playmates" as a means of self healing psychology. Mercifully, the writers did not. Maybe they can make this storyline into a PSA?
ReplyDeleteAlonssso definitely is trying too hard. However, we also need to wonder whether he has ever been functional.
ReplyDeleteI also pity the poor hooker. She should definitely find a way to blacklist this guy among her streetwalker associates. He's a crime scene waiting to happen.
I'm also certain that Isadora's house is not ruined and it's a ploy to mess up anything that could happen between Augustina and El Diablo.
UA: LOL, have the hooker take Al off her associates list!
ReplyDeleteI love how Dio offered to help Isavibora get her place "repaired" just as soon as possible. What a "charmer" that Dio.
Pasofino, allergic reaction to testosterone. That must be it, lol.
ReplyDeleteI would think that once Alonssso's doctor ruled out anything physically wrong with him that he would prescribe an ED med. Looks like he bought one of those herbal remedies that in this country are not regulated by the FDA. My neighbor upstairs gets ads for them all the time (we have a common mailbox and I usually bring in the mail). The ad Alonsssso was looking at is very similar to the envelopes I see: a beautiful scantily-clad woman and the warning "sexually explicit ad." I would open one if it weren't a federal offense to open someone else's mail.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that Lic. Bercera and Padre Baldomero are putting two and two together...
CdlF is HOT HOT HOT!!!!!!! Loved aseeing him shake off water just like Maja!
Thanks for the excellent recap. I especially like the mentions of the locations of the scenes, that really helps to paint a picture.
ReplyDeleteLove the reference to Pablo's "friend" as "bratgirl" ... perfect description.
I like the way that this novela is moving. Just fast enough so that the characters don't look silly for not catching on, and with enough new events in each episode to maintain interest.
Dionisio and Isadora are simply the devil and his mistress. So funny that she is jealous. And poor Agustina, you can just see that she thinks that she has a new BFF in Isadora (love the Mama Dragon nickname).
I too think that it will turn out to be too much viagra or like drug that caused Alonso to fall out.
This is a good show! Thanks to all of the recappers for helping me to enjoy the show.
I have to say that I loved Isadora moving into the hacienda to be on top of things with Dion and Agustina. Her jealousy is too fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteCarlos/Robey: Tks!
ReplyDeleteI was going to page our house doctor anyway because I wondered about the over the counter little blue pills and never thought they could make him pass out like that.
UA: You hit all the high points and did it so quickly you deserve a medal! It was good snark and a great read for me with my morning coffee. I just couldn't take the time to comment till now. Sorry! I do like that beautiful fan. It fits with the toro/bullfight ambiance.
ReplyDeleteDid you notice how the fountain came alive behind him as Alonso was downing his pills?
ReplyDeleteMarti
