    Part 1 of 3

Laura isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer, but she somehow has a contact to get a perfect false passport for Gloria. Laura, Yadi and Ramona talk, mentioning that Gael is helping.

The salon is staked out by two competing entities. Mauricio from the DEA and a comrade are there. Mauricio is a guy I’m growing to seriously dislike. There are also a couple of Nacho’s guys peering out of another SUV. A curly haired woman comes out and gets into a car with Gael. A woman with long brown hair walks out of the salon. Both sets of guys pursue the woman on foot.

Humberto has arrived in L.A. Dani and Amanda say they’ll carry the rings in the wedding. Dani says that now Humberto will be his grandfather, right? Mati tells Dani that Humberto needs a moment with Amanda.

Humberto tells Amanda he knows she’s lost her mother and her brother. He’s only consoled by now being the one to care for her. She asks about her papa. The fine little actor shows she understands what’s happened just by looking at his face. She begins to sob. Dani hears from the kitchen and wants to run in, but Mati prevents this.

I’m not fooled for one minute. That curvy tush making its way down the street does not belong to Gloria, despite the flowing brown locks. Both sets of guys go after her. But Nacho’s guys back off when they see the DEA. Sounding triumphant, Mauricio announces that Gloria is under arrest. Yadi takes off her sunglasses and asks them why they’re following her. She says they’re incompetent, and she’s going to report them to the Mexican police!

We see Gael help Gloria get her bag out of a car at the airport. He gives her a hug. What? Nacho’s thug beat her to the airport? But…not to worry…Gael bashes his head against the car when he tries to put Gloria inside. Curly haired Gloria can now get on the plane.

Mr. Google tells me that Mauricio Henao’s character in this one is called Mateo Restrepo. I thought when I first saw him that he was going to be a good guy. But it appears he’s un estafador (con artist). He’s living it up at some resort. Then he meets with a guy trying to throw him out. [This is the first time I’ve heard Henao speak like a Colombian, which is where he’s from.] Mateo shows the guy evidence that he’s been evading taxes. He wants 6 months free lodging, and it looks like he gets it.

    Part 2 of 3

Nacho waves a gun in the face of the thug who failed to bring him Gloria. Then he bashes the guy in the face. Then he turns on Duque, saying her getting away is his fault.

Someone else is upset: DEA Mauricio. He’s sure Gloria will come back to the salon. As usual Esther is the smart one. She suggests Gloria might have left the country. Later Esther tells Mauricio she thinks he might have a thing for Gloria (which he emphatically denies, then stares at her photo).

Gloria arrives in LA and embraces Dani. When she has to tell him about Eduardo’s passing, he reminds her that he lost his father, his grandfather, his uncle Sebas, and now Eduardo. Everyone he loves dies. He tells her it’s her fault.

Gael shows up begging once again for another chance. Yadi still turns him down. [I like her rejecting him; he deserves it, and it’s a sign of self-respect on her part. But a sharp-eyed commenter mentioned Yadi and Gael being together in the very first scene, so either she put him in the friend zone, or they reconciled.] Yadi does allow him to come to the funeral of her mother and brother.

Gloria discovers Erna living with their mother. Cold stare.

It would have been nice to recap an episode with no sighting of the despicable Jacinto and disgusting Luisa. But no. Jacinto is still saying he’ll get Gloria in prison.

Gloria and Erna talk. Erna is very sorry she let Jacinto and Luisa manipulate her into betrayal. They embrace.

Luisa tells Rocio everyone is asking about Erna. Rocio has a solution: Jacinto can divorce Erna and marry her. Luisa cracks up.

Jacinto calls Erna from a different phone. She picks up and, of course, doesn’t hang right up and block the number. Jacinto threatens to come to LA to get her. He’s sure he’ll find her, and he’ll get Gloria arrested. [Huh? His role as a Mexican State Governor gives him police powers in the U.S.?]

Yadi, Ramona, Laura and Gael are sitting together at Yadi’s mother’s house. From what is said, it seems likely Yadi will inherit. There’s no one else. Yadi doesn’t want to live in this house. But she’ll also inherit the apartment house she was thrown out of by her mother. Later we see Ramona’s eyeballs turn into dollar signs (like Scrooge McDuck) about all the money Yadi will get.

    Part 3 of 3

Erna has returned to Jacinto, believing she’s protecting Gloria.

We get one last look, I think, at Amanda. She bids a loving farewell to Gloria.

Ay! We’re treated to LOTS of Jacinto. He tells Rocio he has to pretend to be a good husband to Erna to keep his political career alive. Then he goes into the master bedroom and tells Erna that Rocio only wants money and will give up the baby to them. He keeps up the loving husband act for a while. She at least says she’s not sharing a bed with him. Later he shows her a web site with ascending levels of fake pregnancy bellies she can wear in public.

Esther presents herself as Jessica at the salon, saying Gloria said she’d help her when they were in prison together. She says that what she does is launder money. The 3 amigas clam up completely about Gloria and her whereabouts. I’m sure the plot will demand Esther getting the job.

    SIX MONTHS LATER

Gloria is still in L.A. It seems she’s moved to a rather humble apartment. She’s talking with her mother and a man who I think is Fercho (many of these dark-haired guys with a two- or three-day stubble look the same to me). He has on what looks like a chef’s jacket. From what she says, Gloria has been washing dishes at the same place as maybe-Fercho. She doesn’t mind the work. She’s just happy to be with Dani.

There’s a knock at the door. A package is delivered with a jar inside containing Duque’s embalmed fingers. Gloria states the obvious: “He’s found me!” [Sigh. They’re repeating what they did before. Duque, supposedly brilliant, sends something threatening (a funeral wreath for her son). And now his own fingers to menace her. Inquiring minds want to know. If he knows her address, why doesn’t he either show up himself or send a squad of thugs to grab her up instead of giving her plenty of warning?]

Novelera: Howdy from the Alamo City. Enjoyed reading your recap of last night's episode.

*I didn't know Jacinto has that much power as a Mexican State Governor with ambitions of becoming President of Mexico.

*Mooching Erna is getting on my nerves.

    *No Nagging Luisa ?

*Would like to see a spin-off with an adult Amanda in the future 20+ years down the road.

*Mauricio staring the picture of Gloria very hard. What's his backstory ?

*The same boring rinse & repeat of Duque giving her vague warnings threatening Gloria.

Gracias, Novelera. Excellent recap. I missed watching last night, but I can picture it all. "We’re treated to LOTS of Jacinto." -- What a harrowing picture. ;>

I was hoping Mati and Humberto would fall for each other, which would lead to Amanda and Dani staying together as siblings. But this isn't a rosa novela.

I'm surprised Duque would part with keeping his amputated fingers. But then, he loves the dramatic flair.

I hate Esther fooling the ladies. Honestly, they should send a photo of Esther to Gloria.

Niecie: Esther will get her Karma anvil sooner or later. Most likely in Season 2!

I missed so much this week because I was unable to fully watch any episodes. And then my laptop charger broke. I’ve ordered a new one that won’t come until next week. I’ve been able to borrow a laptop to do the Friday recap. That will be up on Saturday.

Anyway, thank you, novelera, for the Tuesday recap. I lol’d at the mention of “Scrooge McDuck”. So, Ramona likes the ladies and has the hots for Esther. And Duque comes back from the dead to have sex with Luisa.
