A.MAR #28 Notes from the Couch. . . . Vacation Version!
ReplyDeleteWe were basically treading water tonight but I am not complaining. The water was warm and the wine was cold!
It's Huachinango Time!!!
La Festival del Huachinango (Red Snapper Festival) is a big deal and is tomorrow. Fabián as president of the union decides to break with tradition and have a woman give the speech. He asks Estrella to give the speech since she represents strength, the power of change and bravery. Estrella accepts.
An Epidemic of Lovesickness
Oliver has it bad for Yazmín. He tells Perla he only wanted to protect her from that jerk Javier. Javier tells Yazmín he has had it with Oliver who is now starting gossip about him. He swears to her that she is the only girl for him and that he will never be unfaithful to her. They kiss. Little does he know how sweetly she smiles when she talks about and to Oliver.
In a very funny series of scenes, Valentín is so preoccupied with what he feels for Perla that he sees her all over. He even sees her as the priest in the confessional. His ex forces herself on him and ends up going home with him and Oliver. Perla comes over to see him but is beyond disappointed to see his ex is there and leaves. Valentín finally gets his ex to go but it is too late for any fun with Perla. We find out that when Valentín told his ex that he thought they should break up, she left him handcuffed at her place for two days. Okay . .
Valentín still says that he could never get together with Perla since it would hurt Pascual too much. Sure . . .
An hysterical Erika makes a visit to Estrella begging her not to have a relationship with Fabián. Estrella has to repeat again WHY they are no longer friends and why Fabián is now fair game. What Erika did in contacting Sergio with no concern for Azul was so far beyond the pale that she will never be able to forgive her. As she leaves. Erika sees Fabián on the street and gives him the same old hysterical song and dance act. He tells her that they are DONE one more time. She stumbles off in rage.
Brisa was MIA tonight in her pursuit of Gabriel which was a welcome relief.
How Many Ways Can you Spell BLACKMAIL?
V-I-C-T-O-R who has decided to pay Gabriel a visit. It is time for Gabriel to pay up for the favor he did him in listing him as Iker's father when both of them know he isn't. Gabriel says he is the one who registered Iker on the birth certificate as his son insinuating that Víctor could be prosecuted. Victor seems to think he is too smart for that to happen. If Gabriel doesn't get him the money (Víctor wants 500,000 ($26, 651)pesos tomorrow for his silence) an anonymous call can be made to the police saying that Gabriel registered a child as his own when he wasn't. Gabriel will not only lose Iker but he will end up in jail for stealing a child.
We Saw This Coming
Sergio meets with his lawyer who he had flown in on a private jet. She takes a dry martini not with one, not two but THREE olives!!! He explains that he has found out that he has ten year old daughter. He will have the DNA results tomorrow. If she is his daughter can he get custody of her? She answers probably not. The courts tend to decide for the mother but again he has her for his lawyer which turns the odds in his favor.
Tonight's Happy Couples: Estrella and Fabián/Marina and Gabriel

ReplyDeleteMy DirecTV guide shows Karsu on tonight, normally. It's 7:30 PM Pacific Time, so it hasn't begun here yet, so I can't verify what will be on. But it isn't showing up as an automatic recording for me the rest of this week. Scrolling through the guide and seeing what's shown for Karsu, it appears to me Tuesday through Friday are two-hour reruns of the very beginning of the novela. My programming on DirecTV is set up to NOT record reruns.
Just a heads up.
karsu
ReplyDeleteRats! I always hit post too soon. I meant to say that my guide shows normal programming beginning July 7, so I think Uni is assuming people will be on vacation this week.
Karsu
DeleteIt was a new show tonight. I'm glad it will be reruns as we will be on vacation starting Wed. I'm glad I had my last juegos recap tonight.
Juegos #70 Gran Final part 1
ReplyDeleteMemo, with Luci at gunpoint, has Enrique on the phone where she learns Enrique killed Francisco (it was self defense,Hija), and that Memo killed Grenas. Memo says Luci is next as he marches her towards her car.
Enrique is losing it. He needs to call Roberto. He goes to his office where German is the voice of reason, in their world, and says you can't or we lose everything.
Later, as it is now dark, Chofis and Gaby arrive home to lots people outside her hostel. The guard is nursing his site head as he tells her he was attacked. Memo shot Pato and has Luci. A neighbor says Pato was taken away in an ambulance. A neighbor has taken Gaby for ice cream so she isn't there to hear the news. Chofis cals Roberto. I'm shocked he hasn't heard yet.
Roberto lets himself into Enrique's office. Guillermo kidnapped Luci and he shot Pato. Enrique almost lets it slip that he thought Pato was dead but catches himself. Roberto tells him he is fighting for his life in the hospital. Enrique says I'm now the president you do your job and find him. Roberto says go to the devil...he leaves . Enrique mutters to himself I'm stained in blood (is he next to go over the edge).
Memo, with Luci in the passenger seat, picks mom up from I guess in front of their house. She suggests we don't need Luci, let her go. Of course he's not having any of that as he leaves his gun around and tells his mom to get in the car as he holds the back door open for her to get in.
Wacky Ines and German greet Roberto in the hall of headquarters. Come celebrate with us she hugs him. I have to go see papa. German apologizes for her, she is not well. Roberto grabs German. Memo wasn't at the.cabin. German insinuates it's not my fault you all are inept. Roberto slaps him hard. You are going to pay he tells German.
Memo has Luci tied in a chair at some abandoned house. Luci tries to reason with him. Mariana agrees with Luci. She wants what is best for her son. He tells her to shut up.
Sofia (Chofi) calls Roberto to fill him in on Pato. Please find my granddaughter. Gaby asks to speak with him. She tells him Pato is at the same hospital as her mom and they are praying for them both.
Back to Memo. He has always been treated inferior to Luci and he wants to see her suffer. Luci tries to tell him to turn Enrique in and testify against him. Memo says and I'll be arrested too. He gets mad at both of them and walks out. Luci sees he has left her car keys behind. She wants Mariana to leave and get help.
Roberto is at the station now. An apb has been put out in Luci's car. The secretary comes in. And says a woman name Mariana is on line 2. She is outside somewhere calling in. She wants a guarantee they won't kill memo. Roberto swears on his sister's grave they won't. Where are you.
Memo had gone to get firewood. He comes back to no mama. Where is she he demands. She left to get help, Luci says as she says at the duct tape holding her hands behind her back. She tells Memo mom went to get money to help in your escape. He doesn't believe her and threatens to kill her like her dog gallita.
Juegos #70 part 2
ReplyDeleteStill nighttime, the police are setting up a search party somewhere in the woods. Now it's morning. Memo has dragged Luci off to the woods. He is dozing off. She is making better progress with her restraints as there is a convenient rock behind her. Memo wakes up. He tells her to get up, they are moving on. She then starts insulting him. It's your fault all this happened. Pato was right, you are a good for nothing. He puts the gun close to her face as he kneels by her. She grabs the rock and smashes him up side his head. He falls back and drops the gun which she recovers. She points it at him but chooses to delope into the air. 5 times I think. Roberto is hearing the shots and checking in with his team. Memo walks away from Luci.
Roberto and Luci find each other. He would never have forgiven himself if anything had happened to her. She says if something has, it would not have been your fault, just as it wasn't your fault what happened to your sister. Victoria and another officer come up to them. Roberto says take care of her, I'm going after Memo. Luci warns his to be careful, he's crazy.
So Alex is now working at the upscale restaurant with Dad it seems. Daniel comes in to talk to her. He says I love you but we can't be together, for now. I have to go away. She accepts that is what he needs to do.
Memo isn't having a good day. He hopes down from a 5 foot wall and seems to have hurt his ankle, he rushes to some stone building that looks like a stable I'm thinking, and sure enough he goes in the open door and a horse kicks him in the stomach. He leaves that stall as Roberto is approaching the wall. The horse, with a lead rope dragging has run out of the stall, dogs are barking and Roberto is over the wall chasing after Memo, but the dogs have beaten him to him. They savage memo pretty bad, the spirit of gallita must have been whispering in their ears. Roberto hears memo's cries and sees him laying in a pool of blood and shoots his gun in the air which gets the dogs running off.
Mariana is at the station. Roberto and Luci come in. Where's my son. Roberto explains that 2 ranch dogs got him, we were too late to save him. She says you promised you wouldn't hurt him as she cries inconsolably.
German is at a garden party introducing the new president as wacky Ines gazes at a ring or something she has in her hand. Enrique gets some huge medal placed around his neck. Roberto and company come down the steps (is this the presidential house in Mexico?). Enrique Ferrer you are under arrest for the Saldana cover up and the murder of Francisco. The press are like what is going on. German tries to slither away but Q arrests him.
Pato is alive. Luci and he talk about being family. He has written Paul . Looks like they will get back together.
So Ines is at the police station because her sister has accused her of killing Leonardo. Ines is staring at the ceiling with a smile on her face. Victoria tells another officer I need a medical exam on her. I'm not sure she will understand if I read her her rights. Victoria goes to her. Ines says you know who I am right. I'm the first Lady. Victoria agrees, and your husband the president, e wants you to see a Dr. Ines says ok. Can dad come too?

ReplyDelete"The water was warm and the wine was cold!" I loved your wry, witty and wonderful recap Jarifa...
"How Many Ways Can you Spell BLACKMAIL? V-I-C-T-O-R who has decided to pay Gabriel a visit" was perfect! V-I-C-T-O-R was so smarmy; all that was missing was a curly mustache for him to twirl as he threatened and cajoled. So it does appear that Gabriel is not Iker's father. Only biologically of course. Dare we hope Victor vaporize in the night air? What recourse will Gabriel have??
I thoroughly enjoyed Valentin seeing Perla's face in everyone he met. Bewitched and besotted. His policewoman ex obviously did not take their breakup in stride! Could Oliver (the unhappy third wheel) have looked any more uncomfortable? It seems Yaz's abuelo realized she is missing her friend. When Javier was declaring his undying faithfulness was it just me or did Yaz appear as though she couldn't care less?
I like that Estrella didn't fall for Erika's never ending histronics; she crossed the line by inserting Sergio in her daughter's life and that cannot be forgiven. At least for the moment, she and Fabian are open to love and each other.
Snake Sergio's custody quest begins...his lawyer was one cool, cold customer...
Thank you for another amazing recap Jarifa. You mirrored all of tonight's events simply splendidly.

Juegos #70 part 3
ReplyDeleteRoberto, Chofis, Luci and Gaby talk in the kitchen. Karina is getting better and will testify against Enrique. Chofis says there are a lot of room in her house and they are family. Is Roberto moving in?
Months later
Q is retiring and his replacement as fiscal general is of course Roberto. He gives a speech about why he got into police work (his sister and niece) but he realizes now he is not responsible for others bad actions. He exchanges his silly duck tie for a plain blue one that Gaby brings up to him.
Months later again, Adrian is in a jail but is talking about beating his addiction, so it's not the bad jail. It's like an AA meeting. Anyhow, Luci and Pato visit him there. He is studying while in jail and they are proud of him.
Natalia, Manalo and Fabiola are doing a podcast hawking their book about the capital crecient case.
Barcelona. Alex has saved her money and charged Daniel down. I love you and I had to come. I'm always going to wait for you. So they get there HEA.
German gets the prison treatment by the baddies. Joachin walks by holding his side. I guess he's being beat on too still
Karina is also in jail. Mother's Day I think. Gaby visits her. Karina tells Roberto to thank Luci for being a good mom to Gaby and hopes she will forgive her. Roberto says people make mistakes and you are paying your dues, but he is nice to her about it.
Enrique has a huge list of things he is guilty of and gets 70 years in jail. Elena wants to say something at his sentencing. She doesn't wish him I'll but he is where he belongs. Enrique calls to Roberto, tell my children I want to see them. Roberto says you are dead to them. They want nothing to do with you.
Juegos #70 part 4
ReplyDeleteInes is in the lobby bin where she holds court to the women and thinks she is the first lady. The attendant that brings her pills she calls Adrian. She may be crazy, but at least she is happy in her insanity.
Pato visits Enrique. He is returning all the stolen money to the people that Francisco defrauded. Adrian is studying business and when he is released he will work with Paul and I in a business we start up. Enrique asks about Luci. She won't see you but don't worry she is fine.
Omar gets a check for his stolen savings plus 20 years of interest. We're in the money!!! They will buy a house, but first they are going to Barcelona to see Daniel and Alex, Susy suggests. Elena says you and Mario are coming too then.
Mariana cries over memo's grave and asks his forgiveness
And we get a wedding. Roberto and Luci of course.
And a picnic. They have a new dog. Gaby asks, and my surprise. It's Karina. She's free she drives off with Gaby to hear all about what she has been up to. Roberto and Luci talk about their great love and miss as Chofis looks on and smiles with happiness.

ReplyDeleteWhaaat? Re-runs this week? Oh nooo! I wanna see what happens next.
I loved the trip to the bar. Adnan now has a clear picture of who Reha is. Poor man – a gentleman among the savages. What was that flaming thing the waiter brought? It looked like a carved-out pumpkin.
I enjoyed the kids’ visit at Reha’s – their tipping things over at the table. I enjoyed Lale’s reaction too. She’s usually trying to cruise above the whole situation, but she just couldn’t hide how she felt about Hande.
I loved that Cedvet (whose name has various spellings in my captions) didn’t want to give up his books, but also was quite ready to off Reha as a solution.
What was it about the singer that affected Attila so much? He didn’t seem to be hiding from him. What made him run off and see his – gasp! – brother? He seems to be angry with the brother, so maybe there was a good reason he was supposed to kill him, but bottom line he didn’t. Now we have to wait a week to find out what’s going on!
I liked that the little audience at the Valentine’s Day event didn’t just listen to the music, but danced and sang along. Fun!
At least Irmak had a little personality in this episode. In this show with its amazing, natural-style acting, her character stuck out as very unrealistic, always frozen, always staring. If I’d met her in person at a social gathering I would have thought she was on drugs or had a mental problem. Well, we did know that she doesn’t take any guff.
Karsu
ReplyDeleteRe: last weekend’s comments
Babchita – How clever of you to think that Attila might fake a car wreck or some other accident to account for Orzan’s absence! Good thinking! I was amazed when Attila said he’d find him and came up completely blank for any way he could keep that promise.
Novelera – I actually read somewhere about the staged girlfights where it looks like hair is being pulled. They can’t do fist to the jaw like the men do – that wouldn’t be girly. They said that one actress grabs the other one’s head, then the other one grabs hers and they both shove back and forth, by which I mean side by side, not front to back – we don’t want anybody’s neck being injured. I’m thinking this makes all the long hair swing around a lot and you have a feel of a lot of action. Afterwards, both hairdos are wrecked and disheveled so it looks like lots happened. Bottom line: safe, and actresses don’t get hurt. Since I read that I’ve seen a number of these fights, and yes, that’s what’s happening. I did notice in the fight between Karsu and Irmak, Karsu grabbed a big fistful of hair, but not the ends of her hair, rather right next to the scalp. So same thing as actually grabbing her head.
I don’t think this would work for the men because they have short hair and it would be obvious what they were doing and probably pretty stupid looking. Besides, having a slugfest is more their style.
karsu
ReplyDeleteI thought I'd get the jump on you, Maggie, but no dice! Yes, that was an interesting and revealing episode.
I wish Adnan would stop being such a gentleman letting Reha befriend him. He certainly got a good look at what a low life Reha is at the club. When is he ever going to tell him no? Is he smart enough to realize it's all about his money?
I wonder if the actor playing Reha is safe walking around in Turkey? Someone might walk up and punch him in the face. He flat out lied to Tilsim when she blurted out that her mother was right about his having betrayed her. Tilsim doesn't look quite so enthralled, and she enjoyed Deniz spilling OJ all over the breakfast table. And, of course, Deniz is still young enough to say what's on his mind. "My mother doesn't like you!"
There must be some connection between the singer for the Valentine's Day party and Atilla's brother. I couldn't tell if he was worried the performer would recognize him or he just was too angry to stay.
Yes, Irmak might just make some inroads with Karsu being outspoken about what a complete loser Reha is. I was surprised Reha didn't start yelling at Atilla. Guess even he is not that much of a hypocrite to yell about Karsu sitting there with Atilla when he's there with the reasons she left him.
Looks like we're going to have to wait a week to see what happens at Atilla's brother's apartment. Interesting that he knew exactly where to find him and, IIRC, was able to enter the building like he had a key card or something. This kind of puts Atilla out of my worry zone. If he's the love interest for Karsu, how could he have followed orders and killed his own brother?
Karsu
ReplyDeleteThis has become my favorite show of the night! Loved the kids spoiling the outdoor breakfast. Seems like a tablecloth is overkill when it's outside. Hande will have extra housework to do with the kids sabotaging her.
I wondered what that thing they brought to the table at the nightclub was. Looked like a Turkish version of a lava lamp. A weird type of candle to set the mood for 2 guys? But then the call girls came over so I guess Reha set up this to entertain Adnan. Is Reha sticking him with that bill as he bought the kebab dinner?
Cevdet does have different spellings of his name. In the cast list I found this is the spelling used. Not positive what Atila asked him about the bookstore initially, but it seems Karsu wants to decorate for Valentine's Day. Speaking of Valentine's Day the clubhouse sure got a nice budget for decorations. They went all out on that. Sounds like you had to purchase tickets to the concert so a bit of revenue coming in. It was sweet seeing Karsu dancing with Deniz since Atila beat a hasty retreat. He can't catch a break! People he knows keep turning up in the hood! At least Lale didn't tag along with her brother and Hande.
I thought that Atila punched one of those call buttons to be let in the apartment building. I wonder if they now have a video to see who is at the door rather than an intercom. I thought it was foolhardy that he was let in without any interaction. Perhaps Meric ordered takeout and just passed the person through.
Well, the morning is a wasting and I need to beat the heat and get outside to my garden and mowing. Son in law is on plant shut down this week so I don't have kids to watch. Wed we are heading to Ohio to see our son and my siblings and their families. 3 of my siblings followed us to Ohio from NJ when we lived there, and then we left, lol. One of them is making noises about following us to SC. My cuñada is Puerto Rican and doesn't want to abandon her 26 year old son unless he finds a girl and gets married! It's a cultural thing with Mom's and their boys it seems.
"JUEGOS" GRAN FINAL:
ReplyDeleteKat in SC: Thanks for your recap of last night's Gran Final. Big Thumbs Up 👍
My personal thoughts:
1.) 70 years in prison for Enrique: WOW! He's going to die in prison for sure.
2.) Whacky Ines is still Whacky & I wasn't shocked she went to the crazy house.
3.) Mariana: Fast Forward!
4.) Laughed watching German getting roughed up by prison thugs.
5.) The 2 dogs took care of Psycho Memo. Good riddance!
6.) With Enrique's downfall, this means Teresa Urzca wins the Presidential election & becomes Mexico's first female President.
7.) Congratulations to Roberto on becoming Fiscal General & Q retires.
8.) Enjoyed watching Omar, Elena & Co., during this Telenovela.
9.) The redhead portraying Victoria did an amazing job.
10.) Roberto & Luciana getting their happily ever after was sweet.
11.) Now that Karina served prison time & got released, I'm assuming joint custody of Gaby still continues between Roberto & Karina ?
12.) Daniel & Alexa getting their happily ever after in Barcelona, Spain was not shocking.

DeleteSteve, thanks for sticking with me on the journey. I enjoyed this show. Justice was served all around.
JUEGOS
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, a big thanks to Kat for recapping this novela. It was appreciated.
This was an outstanding novela those of which do not appear too often. I looked forward to every episode and even though I will miss it, 90 episodes was perfect. It was a satisfying watch from beginning to end.
I got a kick out of the yellow ducky tie being replaced by the new one matching "Furia" Roberto's new office.
The cast could not have been better. I had never been a big fan of Eduardo Santamarina but his role is this novela changed my mind. An outstanding job done by him and by all.
Interesting but realistic that in the end and in the most dysfunctional way possible, Enrique did love Luciana.
Memo's death was so poetically done since he was like an animal himself: a mad dog. So, it was so appropriate when the horse kicked him in the chest but the dog attack was even more so. In a fantasy world, they would have recognized that he had killed one of their own (Galletita) Whatever they sensed, they dispatched him appropriately. Perfection! A bullet would have been too quick of a death for him.
I always like when novelas give us a view into the future of these characters and this one was very satisfying indeed.
Juegos,
ReplyDeleteJarifa, I looked forward to this each night also. There was just the right amount of good vs evil, and the deaths that occurred were mostly bad guys in the first place so it wasn't as upsetting as when a good character gets killed. Toby's death was purely an accident. The two walking in the road at night in dark clothes were foolish. I feel that Daniel should have heard the car and seen the headlights and they should have jumped out of the road. Toby was a bit the worse for wear being so drunk. That unfortunate accident set off a long chain of events. Francisco was always an awful man so good riddance to him.
This is the second show I've seen Santamaria in. Last year he was the antagonist in Nadie Como Tu. If you get the chance, it was a good show IMO. I'm the only one that watched it here, it was on at 4 in the afternoon. My very first attempt at a recap was done on that, but since nobody else was viewing it I quit after only one or two recaps.
Thanks for keeping me company on this show and interacting.
Karsu
ReplyDeleteI made a long comment at 7:55 a.m. if someone can retrieve it.
KARSU
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recap Novelera, I watched Kadin (the previous Turkish tele), with the same lead actress. My husband & I both swear the apt. Atilla's brother is living in, is the same apt. Building as in Kadin. Also, the same fantasy neighborhood with the working girls standing around on the street.
Now then, the actor playing Reha really is a good actor. Ya just love to hate him. Jeez cringe much. No. Matter how this ends Reha must get a serious beat down. The Boyz night out was excellent.
A.Mar
ReplyDeleteThanks Jarifa, I liked the vacation version. Valentin’s scenes around town were fun. But I couldn’t understand why he just didn’t stop her from coming home with him or throw her out once they got there.
So glad Estella stood up to Erika and let her know it was Erika that destroyed the friendship.
That Victor is a creep. I hope Gabriel doesn’t give him any money. But I’m worried about what will happen. I hope there’s a legitimate reason he has Iker.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the info on Karsu. My TV is set to record the show without restrictions. So I’ll have to see what happens tonight.
It looks like we have another mystery, with Atilla not being able to stay for the concert. Then off to see his brother, who isn’t supposed to be alive. I wonder if the singer is his brother’s son or something.
A fun scene at the breakfast table. Even Tilsin was enjoying herself.
Raja bringing Adnan to that bar was a shock. And then “ordering” the two woman. I wonder if he’s done stuff like this all his married life. Poor Andean, was he too polite to just get up and leave? And Raha lying to Tilson. I hope she finds out the truth.

ReplyDeleteWell, I had lost track of the episodes, so I was quite surprised that last night was El Fin! Once Memo got his perfect anvil, I realized it was the last episode.
This novela was very well done, IMHO. The story moved along without stalling, and the actors were great. I liked Santamaria in his role. I realized I had seen Fiscal Furia recently in Juego de Mentiras where his character was named, of all things, Ferrer!!! Arap Bethke is a great actor and has an interesting background as well.
I hated Galleta’s fate, but it did show us what a psycho Memo was.
I thought Ines got off easy, as a murderer, but she was lost in her make believe life. Mariana was lost in grief for Memo. He didn’t deserve such loyalty, IMO.
I was glad Pato survived. He, Paul, Luci, and Roberto will be a nice family for Chofis. I’m glad Karina was rehabilitated so Gaby got a happy extended family.
I was glad to see Adrian doing well. It was nice to see Daniel and Alex in Barcelona.
I always looked forward to the episodes and the recaps, Kat!
Thank you!

DeleteBabachita, I thought maybe there were 2 more episodes but it all wrapped up nicely last night. Finally a show where I liked the lead actor and actress and they hardly had any stupid misunderstandings or breakups with other partners for a while. Luci rightly has concerns about Gaby and putting the brakes on for a bit until the young daughter could assimilate things was the right thing to do.
Juegos
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Kat, you did an excellent job recapping this show. I enjoyed the show and the recaps. The ending was one of the better ones, as telenovelas go. The good guys got their happily ever after and the bad guys got what they deserved.
I also thought of poor Gallita as the dogs mauled Memo. Along with the horse it was like the animal kingdom are all connected to each other.
I couldn’t believe that long list of things Enrique was found guilty of. I guess he was bad from the start.
Thanks again for all your work Kat. It was a great show.
Liz
Juegos
DeleteLiz, the dog mauling worried me a bit. If they were guard dogs then I was afraid they would turn on Roberto and then he would have had to shoot them. I'm glad the shot he fired scared them off. They did the dirty work. Memo was way too damaged a person to be rehabilitated. I was surprised he kept dragging Luci along with him in his escape when he wanted her dead. I guess she was his shield if he got caught.
The one line they didn't totally tie up I felt was Berta. I guess she never turned states evidence so hopefully she has a long jail sentence.
Thanks for following along and adding to the discussion. It will be nice to get my 10 p.m., that often went past midnight, slot freed up. Amenecer looks interesting. I'll probably watch that one. Currently I'm liking Karsu the best.

ReplyDeleteDiana, glad you enjoyed the light and breezy recap. ; ) If only it were light and breezy here and not heavy, hot and humid. Anyway, "V-I-C-T-O-R was so smarmy; all that was missing was a curly mustache for him to twirl as he threatened and cajoled." Exactly. He, unfortunately, seems like he could be a formidable foe with whatever info he has on Gabriel and Iker. Where can Gabriel get that kind of money? "When Javier was declaring his undying faithfulness was it just me or did Yaz appear as though she couldn't care less?
No, just wasn't just you. She never looks happy like she does with Oliver.
Liz, glad you liked the vacation version. As for Valentín's ex: "But I couldn’t understand why he just didn’t stop her from coming home with him or throw her out once they got there." Exactly. He acted as if he were helpless or stupid. I don't get it. As for Gabriel: "I hope there’s a legitimate reason he has Iker." Me, too. He looks so nervous but also guilty. Here is hoping it is something innocent and he has an over active conscience.
A.MAR
ReplyDeleteJarifa, yes, Victor seems rabid and resourcefu (unfortunately).
Jarifa and Liz, I can only think Gabriel took Iker because the baby was in a bad situation. Missing/neglectful parents perhaps? Gabriel has a bone now and he's going to clamp onto it for dear life.

ReplyDeleteVictor has a bone...

I hope it is something that is quickly resolved.

ReplyDeleteI commented on Karsu at 7:55 a.m. and again in the afternoon with the copied comment and neither have stuck. Can someone rescue it?
It has been found and posted.
DeleteThanks. I hoped by going with an OT comment that you would help me. Thanks Jarifa....

ReplyDeleteThanks, Kat, for your superb recaps! They helped me keep up if I missed an episode, cleared up my questions, and were fun to read!
Why is Univision not giving us weeks of notice when a show is ending? I didn't see even one announcement that Juegos was ending soon. Did I miss that?
I already miss this show. Eduardo S. was my favorite and I never liked him much before. I look forward to his next show.
Mayrin V. got to go from loving wife in a perfect marriage to insanity, with many stops in between She was convincing in all phases.Of course, I'm always happy to see Juan Soler and Mariana was solid ( name escapes me).
Did Enrique kill anyone besides Francisco? When did he find out that Francisco had Luci's parents killed?
I do think E. truly considered her his daughter and loved her.
Memo getting killed by dogs was gruesome. Usually killer dogs are killed, so it was a surprise that Roberto didn't do that. Sometimes I think we're more upset by animals hurting than humans, in the make believe of television and film.
What a good telenovela with complex characters. Nobody was perfect or one dimensional. It really kept my interest!
I enjoyed everyone's comments, too.
Hope you all watch the forthcoming Colunga telenovela. Another great cast.
¡Hasta luego!

A.MAR #29 Parte 1 Notes from the Couch . . . "The Huachinango Shindig " edition
ReplyDeletePerla Loses It
Perla seems to be in a better mood the next day at the Festival del Huachinango when she runs into Valentín. She has some ceviche for him. He is clearly taken with her and she smiles as he compliments her. The spell is quickly broken when his ex shows up, plants a kiss on his lips and starts talking about last night. He stands there and lets his ex hang all over him looking like he doesn't know what to do. His ex announces they are back together!!! Perla ends up going home in tears and wonders why she ever thought Valentín would notice her. Late when she returns to the shindig, she charges him for the ceviche. So there! Good for her!
Sergio and his Sob Story
Estrella makes it clear to Sergio that she is grateful for the time and attention he is giving to Azul. He insists, at the point of tears that after the death of his pregnant fiancée, on how much having a family means to him. That is why he wants Estrella and him to give their relationship another try. She tells him that is never going to happen. Her love for him is dead and buried.
When Sergio takes Azul for a walk, Estrella tells Fabián that with the appearance of Sergio, she feels like Azul has been torn from her arms. Fabián hugs her.
Erika the snake tells Sergio how glad she is that she contacted him about Azul. She doesn't understand why Estrella cannot forgive him.
Later, as Sergio is talking to Estrella, Fabián approaches them. Sergio angrily asks who that guy is any way. Fabián identifies himself as the man who loves Estrella.
Gabriel Insists on Going it Alone
Gabriel asks Fabián for a loan of 500, 000 pesos. He suggests Fabián dock his pay every month. He has this large debt from the past and the interest is killing him. Fabián wishes he could help but he cannot. He has no liquidity with all of the expenses he has recently had. He offers the savings for his daughter's schooling which will be available by the end of the month. Gabriel refuses that. Gabriel insists that he will handle things himself. The conversation dwindles as Fabián becomes preoccupied with seeing Estrella talking to Sergio.
Marina knows that something is wrong and is concerned that Gabriel will not tell her. If it is about money, he can have the little she has accumulated. She tells him the he is the only one she trusts but now she knows that he doesn't feel the same about her. She doesn't force the issue but warns him to never lie to her.
Víctor comes by Gabriel's house to pick up his money. Gabriel does not have all of it yet. Víctor is not happy. He tells him he has two days to raise the remainder. He is also charging him 100,000 more pesos for the inconvenience of it all. The new total is 600,000 pesos.
A.Mar Parte 2
ReplyDeleteEstrella Speaks
Estrella gives her speech at the Huachinango shindig. For as long as she could
remember, she had always wanted to fish but that was something only men could do. It was a hard start for her and her sisters but her daughter gave her the strength to keep at it and things kept getting better. They have proven that women can also fish. The sea sees them all the same. This is a fishing town and they all make it that!
Porfirio: Anything for $$$$
Porfirio asks Erika is she knows where her mother is. The money she took belonged to the union and is hurting all of the fishermen. She reminds him that Estrella should have it paid back within three months. He doubts she will be able to do it. Erika suggests pressuring her and, by the way, she is talking to Sergio Falcón, the father of her daughter, and who is also a millionaire.
Porfirio introduces himself to Sergio as the port captain. Sergio considers this to be a fortunate encounter. He has been thinking about starting a commercial fishery in town. Porfirio thinks it is a great idea but he could have conflicts. . Fishing is basically a traditional small business venture in town. it is not done on a large scale. A business, like Sergio is suggesting, would put many of those fishermen out of business. Sergio says he understands. Porfirio then adds if he needs anyone to smooth the road for him, get the permits he needs, he can help him out with anything he needs. Sergio likes that and gives him his business card. He is sure they will be in contact soon. They shake on it.
Everything Else
With the help of Gustavo, Oliver and Yazmín have reconciled and he helps her with a school project she is doing on the festival. He reaches around her to (supposedly?) help her filet a fish and Javier shows up demanding to know what is going on between them.
Gustavo shows up at Meche's booth to romance her a bit. he offers to help her since her daughters are no where to be seen. He, also, suggests they go to dance lessons together.
A.MAR
ReplyDeleteAnother good episode. So, Sergio is interested in starting a commercial fishery? That is a plot twist I never expected. That could be bad news on a massive scale.
Erika never misses the chance to make Estrella’s life just a bit more difficult.
Valentin is hopeless.
A.MAR
ReplyDeleteJarifa, another superior summary. Your perfect descriptives cleared up quite a bit that went over my head.
"She tells him the he is the only one she trusts but now she knows that he doesn't feel the same about her. She doesn't force the issue but warns him to never lie to her". Too late...Of course Gabriel should have told Marina (and us!) that he is being blackmailed and why. This is a total disaster which will escalate from bad to worse in seconds flat. Jarifa, since Fabian (kindly) turned Gabriel down, where did Gabriel get the money he gave to Victor?
Valentin "stands there and lets his ex hang all over him looking like he doesn't know what to do" is exactly right. Socially inept with absolutely no game. I felt for Perla who ditched her clam diggers for a lovely outfit. She even wore makeup which she scrubbed off after his non-protestations and acquiesence to his ex. At this point, Valentin is not worthy.
One who IS worthy is Oliver. Charmingly persistent without being pushy (very difficult to pull off), he finally manages to get back in Yaz's good graces. Too bad slimy Javier had to arrive to ruin a perfectly good fish filleting. 😊
I really admire Estrella's civility to Sergio while refusing allow him to bamboozle her.
Gustavo is a sly fox. Always arriving at just the right moment to lend Meche a helping hand and nonchalantly suggesting dance lessons. Now that's a smooth operator.
Jarifa, thank you so much. I so enjoyed your excellent recap.
Diana
A.MAR
ReplyDeleteDiana, thanks. I was wondering about who Gabriel got the money from, too. I heard him on the phone with somebody acknowledging that the transfer of the money had been made but didn’t hear from whom.
So perfectly put “Valentín is not worthy” but “One who IS worthy is Oliver.” Yes, Oliver is a real sweetie. How long until Yazmín discovers that Javier is cheating in her?
Gustavo is a “smooth operator.” He always makes me smile.

ReplyDeleteDecided earlier to record what I thought would be a re-run, but it turns out to be new content. I guess my DVR didn't want to record it because it was two hours. Who knows?
Hope I didn't mess anyone up. But directv really did say Season 1, episode 2 for what's being shown at 9-11 PM.
Karsu
ReplyDeleteMan oh man am I glad I checked to see if Karsu was actually on. DirectTV deceived me, listing it as a rerun. Instead we got two whole hours jam-packed with surprises!
I did miss the first few minutes though. So brother Mert was originally named Genghis Khan, no less. I loved the flashback where Attila tries to shoot him, but can’t. And we find out that yes, Attila killed the uncle of mafioso Kadir, and that’s why he’s in hiding. It was sad that Mert just wants to make music and Atilla tells him he can’t appear before the public again. He looks so meek, I wonder what he did that his father ordered him killed. Did they tell us and I missed it?
When Mert was assaulted by those two thugs, I thought for sure they were some mafioso henchman, but apparently not, because nobody but Atilla knows where Mert lives. I think. I also thought Mert, having been brought up the same as Attila (and once actually named Genghis Khan!), would take them out with some cool moves. Nope, he just curled in a ball on the street while they kicked him. He apparently didn’t have any money, so what was the motive?
I had begun to think Adnan was a good guy, but -- his appearing at Filiz’s door, asking her to intervene with Irmak because he loves Irmak so much! Poor Filiz! Well, he told his mother Irmak is his reason for living, which makes him seem less centered and in control than I thought he was, so maybe this was a move of desperation. But mindlessly cruel.
And then all the revelations to Tilsin at Reha’s house! That Hande is awful. She deserved the takedown Karsu gave her. I wondered again how Karsu never knew her friend was so shifty. It was fun that Reha thought Karsu was attacking Hande out of jealousy. That guy can never read the room.
That was a helluva speech Filiz gave Tilsin. Gosh, so much happened in this two-parter, relationships shifting, and even more people in the complex, the one where Atilla went to hide away. It’s getting to be quite a crowd. And soon he’ll be asked to play on the soccer team. Was it soccer, or something else?
This show is amazing. This time such a mix of drama and comedy and warmth and pain and anger, with the characters ever more nuanced and complicated. Great stuff!
Karsu
ReplyDeleteDarn, I didn't bother to check to see if it was new. The last thing I need to add to my morning is 2 hours of this excellent show, but I will try. Hitting the road after lunch and lots of things to do beforehand.
Karsu
ReplyDeleteI’m hoping they will show these oddly marked episodes again. I can only watch these live. So, my fingers are crossed for them showing again next week. Very badly organized. I can’t record because they think I’ve seen those episode numbers. Thank you Maggie for the really interesting information about Atilla and Mert.
I also thought I recognized the apartment from Kadin/Mujer!

ReplyDeleteJarifa, thank you for another excellent review of all the drama by the sea. I have my flip flops on and am trying to stay calm . Susan
Juegos
ReplyDeleteI was enjoying this show , but in March , when I had to deal with my flooded family room , I just couldn't keep up. I did record many of the episodes , but now I have decided to regulate my internal clock and get to bed by 10. Therefore ,if things ever calm down , I plan on a Juegos marathon . I like so many of these actors , and I appreciate the recaps . Thank you . Susan
Juegos
DeleteI actually like marathon watching. Juegos is definitely worth the time. I enjoyed it a lot. I don't blame you for wanting to go to bed earlier. I did that last night thinking it was rerun week so I'm playing catch up now. I find if I go to bed before 11 or 12 that I wake up way too early. 3 a.m. is not fun.
A.MAR
ReplyDeleteSusan, glad to see you on the patio with your flip flops as our tale meanders along . . . just like the summer. Hope things calm down for you. A flooded room! That’s major.
A.Mar
ReplyDeleteThanks Jarifa, outstanding, as usual. The big question for me is where did Gabriel get the money. And why pay a blackmailer, things will just get worse. Does Gabriel think it’s a one time deal when the guys already increased the amount.
Erica is not going to give up. I’m not sure what her plan is by telling Porfirio that Sergio is a millionaire. I just know she wants Estrella out of town. Porfirio would probably sell out the fishermen to get in a commercial fishery.
Perla needs to move on from Valentine. He’s really not much of a man.
But I was happy to see Oliver and Yazmin together. And Meche and Gustavo are a cute couple too.
Liz
Karsu
ReplyDeleteI watched half of Karsu. I wasn’t expecting it to be new so tuned in late, just to double check. I’ll watch second half tonight.
Mert is a mystery. He should be hiding but he’s walking the streets. And still not sure what he had to do with the singer Atilla walked out on. It seems their mother died shortly after his “death”. I wonder if it was a natural death or caused by the loss of her son.
I felt sorry for Feliz when Andan came by. But she handled herself well. But apparently people got the tickets but didn’t pay. She’s not much of a businesswoman.
I wonder if the man in the bookstore was the same man that bought the book the day before! I guess they’re still paying people to shop there. I don’t know why they don’t get more walk-in customers, or maybe I should say any!
Glad I have part of a telenovela to watch tonight.
Liz
Karsu
DeleteLiz, Mert is the singer. Poor guy just wants to sing and have a life instead of hiding.
Karsu
ReplyDeleteLiz – Mert was the singer! That’s why Attila left. Later Mert asked Attila what he was doing there at the Valentine’s evening and Attila said “I live there.”
When you watch the second half, tell those who missed what all Hande said to Tilsin. I’m trying to remember if she spilled all the beans, or just about Adnan.
A.MAR
ReplyDeleteLiz, great point: "Does Gabriel think it’s a one time deal when the guys already increased the amount." Uh, blackmailers don't operate that way. I, also, think that your are right about Erika. She AND Brisa IMHO are not down for the count yet. It was a nice break with Oliver, Yazmín, Meche and Gustavo.
Also, one would think that if Gabriel were involved in a legally questionable situation with Iker, he would have moved far away from where he got the birth certificate registered just as a matter of precaution years ago. Why would he stay around?
karsu
ReplyDeleteI see earlier risers have already commented that Mert is Genghis Khan, Atilla's brother. Looks like their father, Hasan (?) wanted his sons to be conquerors. I am VERY curious to know what Genghis, er Mert, did to merit a death sentence.
That was an amazing two hours to watch, and I am SO grateful I decided to take a chance and manually record it even though, like Maggie, DirecTV screwed up bigtime by listing it on the guide as Episode 2, or something like that.
The Spanish subtitle writers really go crazy over Turkish names. Atilla, or Attila, or Atila has been all over the place. Last night Tilsim of weeks was replaced by Tilcim, which looks more Turkish to me.
It was a good thing that Hande revealed the back story of Filiz and Irmak. It was mean and spiteful, but she's old enough to learn why her mother and grandmother behave the way they do toward Irmak.
I was delighted when Filiz dropped the bomb on Tilcim about why her mother left Adana in a rush. What she said ties in with the full title of the dizi: Karsu, la Fuerza de Una Madre. She said that she's the girl's grandmother and does love her, but the primal instinct of a mother is to put her child first, just as Karsu puts Tilcim first, even when being insulted by and diminished by said child.
I can't even imagine what's going to happen when Atilla finds that Mert is staying at Turkan's place. And these are surely some ample condos. Ipek and Turkan live in theirs, but there's a spare room for Mert.
I think Adnan was just presented as a stereotypical male, not necessarily cruel. He can't really grasp the damage he did to Filiz and has come to see her to achieve a goal: get his wife back.
Amazing acting by the Atilla actor in the flashback where he does not kill his brother.
And, yes, Reha is starting to REALLY show his dog in the manger tendencies. He was overtly staring at Karsu, wearing makeup for the Valentine's Day music event. He's starting to already take Hande for granted. And then the joy on his face when he thought Karsu was jealous.
Karsu
ReplyDeleteThanks Kat and Maggie! I didn’t realize Mert was the singer. I guess I’m too busy trying to translate subtitles to notice features. Also, it seemed like Atilla went straight to the apartment. Now it makes more sense!
Liz
Karsui
ReplyDeleteOkay I maybe wrong about this, but I thought Atilla & Mert had different mother's. Meanwhile the guy who got outta jail, I thought he wants Atilla dead cause his nephew was dead or Mert. Also I am amazed how these people open their homes to all comers while street crime is rampant.
These stories always carry ye ole themes of the Bard or Egads Greek tragedies of course the Bard himself borrowed those.
Atilla still is my hero.
Karsu
ReplyDeleteHande told Tilsin that her aunt and Felix’s husband ran off together and that’s why her mom and grandmother don’t get along with her. When Tilsin mentioned it to Feliz, Felize told her that Hanse was the one that came between her parents.
Hande’s going to have an uphill battle with the kids. Loved Deniz using the white towel to get the chocolate off!
It gets more fun by the day! I wonder when Atilla will discover his brother is his neighbor!
Liz
