**Now that the World Cup is coming to a close, Telemundo is once again broadcasting telenovelas. The second season of the Turkish novela Lejos de ti (entitled Uzak Sehir in Turkish) will begin this Tuesday. In the first season, Alya has been practicing medicine in Canada when her husband is killed in an accident. As he had requested, she brings his body back to Mardin in Turkey. She comes with her son, Deniz, to bury her husband. Her domineering mother in law wants to take her child from her. Alya stays in Turkey, and she discovers that her husband’s family is powerful and manipulative. According to Wikipedia, the novela "has been one of the most-watched productions since its first day of broadcast." More information can be found in Wikipedia.

Fuat and Asuman’s adoption plans go over like a lead balloon at dinner. They both leave the table deflated. Ferit gets up too, citing Sadik Bey gave him a lot of work to finish at home. Suna signals for Seyran to follow. Seyran is very nervous. This exchange does not go unnoticed by Ifakat. The sisters leave the table together.
Seyran pauses at the stairs. Suna encourages, go on, don’t stop, he’s waiting. Seyran replies, it’s just a small staircase but it’s like it’s ascending to the skies. I don’t think I can do it, abla. Calm down, my beauty, Suna answers, don’t be nervous. Everything will be okay. Seyran breathes deeply. She hugs her sister and thanks her. [good grief, it’s like she’s going to the gallows.] Seyran heads upstairs.
Pelin mopes. Zerrin tells her to calm down and wash her face. Pelo just wants to be left alone. Zerrin says no way. I can’t believe what I’m seeing, she says, this can’t be my daughter. I can’t stand to see you crying like a loser. Pelo turns on her—he’s asking for explanations! He blames me for you showing up at the company! Why would you do that without asking me?
Zerrin says that doesn’t matter. I’m allowed. I had to show them my daughter isn’t alone. I’m here now. They need to know that. That’s why I did it. Pelo tells her that this won’t work. Ferit’s grandpa would never let him get divorced, let alone marry me. It’s impossible. Anything is possible in life, Zerrin replies, I don’t believe in the word “impossible”. I’ve seen a lot at my age. Families created from the wreckage of others.
Pelo answers, as a witness to Halis Korhan for years, what he says goes. It just doesn't apply to Ferit, it applies to everyone. Zerrin takes her daughter’s hand. Whatever happens, I will take care of it. Don’t you trust me? Haven’t I always come through for you? She pulls Pelo close. If I see you upset and crying like this, I don’t know if I can control myself. I will act impulsively. Don’t make me make that mistake. Pelin wipes a tear. Zerrin suggests they watch a movie, something funny. [lol They didn’t edit this weird ending where they watch the window as if it’s a TV!]
Staff is in the kitchen. Sefika is deep in thought or maybe praying. She becomes frustrated. It’s not working, she says, I don’t know what to do. Sultan asks what’s wrong. Money problems, Sefika replies, a distant relative called me. Her mother is in the hospital and she asked for money, but I don’t have a penny to give her.
Sultan says, we’re in the same situation. My son is growing up and he’s still not talking. I want to take him to a specialist, but I don’t have the money. Dicle muses, if Dad were still here, I’m sure… Sultan jumps in—he couldn’t even help himself. How would he help us? If Latif Bey doesn’t give us raises, nothing will change. Sefika nods in agreement.
Abidin walks in on this and asks what’s going on. Is dinner over? Dicle says, they finished but we didn’t have time to clear the table. Carlos adds, Fuat Bey had something to tell them in private. Sefika starts mumbling to herself. Abi asks her what’s wrong—are you having love troubles? Come on, let me listen. Sefika isn’t in a kidding mood. Abi continues, what did he do to you? Do Carlos and I need to handle it? Carlos says, leave me out of this.

Sultan tells Abi, if you want to talk to Latif Bey, be my guest. Ah, Abi replies, if it’s Latif Bey, that’s beyond me. Sorry, I can’t do anything there either. Don’t apologize, Sefika says, it doesn't matter. I know how intimidating he is. I’ll speak to Halis Aga tomorrow and tell him we’re not making enough. Look, Abidin doesn’t have the means to get married, Sultan can’t send her son to school, Dicle can’t afford pretty clothes and Carlos can’t afford a girlfriend. We are all struggling! I’ll say, help us. [I can’t believe that if Halis knew his staff needed money or little Firat needed a specialist he would deny them.]
Latif enters the kitchen and everyone stands silently. He asks, Sultan hanim, what’s wrong? Who’s upstairs? Gulgun calls on the intercom—Sultan, have the table cleared. And bring coffee to my room. One by one, the staff get back to work. Sefika remains seated. She glares at Latif and then turns away. Latif seems to be at a loss and heads out. Abi mutters under his breath, he’s making us crazy.
Suna prays for Seyran. Allah’im, please let everything be fine for my sister. Let it go well. Help her. Take away all her distress. Grant her heart peace and her mind clarity. Suna settles down in bed and shuts the light. Looks like she might have a sleepless night.
Seyran takes PJs out of the drawer. She stuffs something inside them. I thought it was the special nightie she picked out. But she goes back to the drawer and puts something back and stuffs the nightie into the PJs. [if you can figure it out, let me know.] She paces back and forth and makes sure she’s got the nightie hidden securely.
Ferit is in the bathroom and stares into the mirror. He doesn’t look good. He hears Zerrin voice, “you know when Pelin will be happy? When you get divorced…” He hears Pelin, “I always thought we’d be together the rest of our lives… you live with your wife, and me? I’m suffering”. This replay goes on a bit.
Seyran finally makes her way to the bathroom, Ferit emerges, they bump into each other and can’t get out of each other’s way. She chuckles. He’s annoyed, if you’re going in, just do it already. He walks away. What’s your problem, she asks, why are you mad?
Ferit tells her, it upsets me that you smile and act like nothing happened. Seyro asks, what have I done? That’s the problem, he answers, you’re not doing anything. You’re pretending nothing happened. You smile and act like you didn’t say those things to me. What do you expect me to do? If you can never trust me, why are you still with me? What are you waiting for? Why won’t you answer the question I asked you this morning?
Seyran is silent. Answer me, Ferit says, why are you even still in this house? Were you too busy all day to think about it? Seyran puts her PJs on the couch. She asks, what do you want me to do, Ferit? What do you want? Tell me. At least I’m trying. [really?] I want to believe you and trust you. What have you done?
Is that a joke, Ferit asks, you’re asking me what I’ve done? He laughs. Unbelievable. Admirable. What have I done? Allah, please preserve my sanity! Why don’t you open those beautiful green eyes for once? Maybe you should look beyond yourself. Tell me, who’s done more for you than me? [maybe so, but she can’t get past what he’s done TO her.]
Seyran sighs, Ferit… he interrupts—Ferit what? Who? I’ll rise to the challenge, tell me, who’s done half of what I’ve done. Your mother? Your sister? Your aunt? That camel Yusuf? Ah, wait, I almost forgot… maybe Kazim Baba did? Who Seyran? Seyran punches back. You’re doing it again. What you always do. When you are trapped you immediately bring up my family again. Aren’t you ashamed to constantly throw that in my face? You bring it up like it’s my fault. Have you ever wondered if that bothers me?

Do you hear yourself, Ferit asks, have you ever asked yourself if your words hurt me? Believe me, Seyran answers, I think about it much more than you do. Right, Ferit replies, I’m sure you think about me more than I think about you. I’m trying to resist. I don’t want to be a bad person. I’m trying, can’t you see, Seyran? I’ve tried to be a better person for you a thousand times. At least I’m trying. What have you done? Huh? Tell me. Wait, don’t bother, I’ll answer for you. Not a damn thing.
Seyran replies, if you allowed me, you would have seen what I would do. Ferit asks, and what were you going to do? Make baklava? She grabs her PJs and says, I swear you don’t deserve anything. You know that? Aptalsın sen ya! Aptal! You’re an idiot! She goes to the bathroom and slams the door behind her. Ferit sits at the table to do some work. He shouts out, of course, you’re the smartest one in the yali, I’m the idiot. Seyran looks in the mirror. I’m not sure if she’s angrier at herself or at Ferit.
Oh boy, Orhan goes early morning jogging with Defne. She thinks they should do this more often. It will be good for him. [and her?] She asks him if he’s busy today. Orhan says regardless, he must be at the office if his father is there. Defne says he seems nervous about Halis being there. Orhan admits he doesn’t want his father to find out about some decisions he’s made. He surely wouldn’t have approved.
Defne reasons that Halis gave him the authority to make decisions. So it’s fine, she says, if something comes to light, tell your father you authorized it. Nothing is more important than you, Orhan. Not even your father. Easy for you to say, he replies. Easier to do it, she answers. If you have no control over it right now, then why are you worried?
A knock at Seyfer’s door. Ferit fell asleep at the table, while Seyran slept in bed. Ferit stumbles to the door. It’s Latif, who tells Ferit his grandfather is leaving in 15 minutes. Your brother is already downstairs. Your father left early. I thought I’d check with you. Ferit says he overslept. He thanks Latif and goes to kiss his hand. Latif stops him and tells him he must hurry.
Ferit rushes to the clothes rack. Seyran asks him if he forgot to set an alarm. Ferit blames her for not setting the alarm. Did you want me to be late? Why would I set your alarm, she replies, it’s your responsibility. It’s your fault. Ferit gets snarky. Ah, excuse me, that’s how dark your heart is. Such a wife. It didn’t last long. One morning a breakfast, a couple days of smiles, and then it’s over and done with, isn’t that so?
Seyran replies, you should first fulfill your duties as a husband. Then you can question me. Ferit wonders, and what kind of duties are those? Now Seyran wonders how she’ll get out of this. Ferit tells her to finish what she was saying. She smirks, come on, don’t pick a fight, you’re already late.
Ferit slips into his shoes and says, I just hope you have time to think about it today, so you have an answer for me tonight. We talked a lot yesterday. He gathers up his work. Seyran says, yesterday was good for me, I almost answered you differently. But thankfully today, I’ll have time to think it over. She goes to open the door for him. What can I do, she says, I’m a beloved servant of God. Wow, Ferit answers, God loves only you, huh? She smiles and nods yes. Now go, Ferit. You have to get to work. They stare at each other a bit, make some utterances, then he leaves.

Seyran texts Suna: are you up? Suna: did you get any sleep? Seyran: come, we need to talk. Suna worries, what happened? I hope nothing is wrong. As Suna heads for the stairs, Abidin enters the house. They greet each other with good morning and big smiles. Suna asks, how are you? How do you think, Abi replies, I wish I could hug you right now. You’re here, and my day just got better. He tells her she looks pretty.
Suna takes his hand and says, I have to go see Seyran in her room. See you later. Abi notes that her hands feel cold and asks, could you be sick? She says her hands are always cold. Oh no, the camel Yusuf comes into the house and sees them together. He’s immediately suspicious. What’s going on?
Why do you ask, Suna replies, don’t you even say “good morning”? Abi glares at Yusuf. He thinks quick and tells Suna, I’ll keep it in mind, Suna Hanim. I’ll tell Ferit Bey what you said. If you don’t need anything else, I’ll be in the kitchen. He heads off. Suna turns to Yusuf, if you excuse me, I have to see Seyran. Yusuf doesn’t let her off easy. What were you talking about with that bastard Abidin?
Suna answers, we were talking about our future plans, my dear Yusuf. Oh, my goodness! But what’s it to you? Yusuf responds, when I saw you talking alone, I thought… Suna interrupts—what? Are we not allowed to talk in private? If anyone were to hear you, they might think… now Yusuf interrupts—don’t worry, nobody will get the wrong idea. Some things are unimaginable. I just thought there might be a problem. That’s enough, Suna says, and she goes upstairs.
Kazim comes downstairs combing his hair and moustache. He feels terrible. He’s got a sore throat. [he really does sound bad in the original.] He puts the comb in his back pocket and plops himself down at the breakfast table. Ouch. The comb sticks him and Esme gets a laugh. Even Hattuc has a slight smile.
Kazim scolds Esme, why are you laughing? Would you like a hit to the head? He makes the motion. Hattuc notes that Kazim’s late father always had a comb in his pocket, too. Kazim says that’s right. And speaking of Dad, I’m going to need a picture of him. Hattuc asks why. Kazim wants to frame it an put it on his desk. He says, I want Dad to see everything his beloved son became. Hattuc says she’ll look later. Kazim wants it now, before he goes to work. She grudgingly gets up to look.
Esme asks Kazim if he would like a picture of her, too. He asks why. She says, you could put a picture of me in your office, too. Many important people visit the company. Men and women, especially women. I don’t want them to think you’re single. [ha, Esme is jealous over her creep of a husband! I suppose he’s all she’s got.]
Kazim is flattered. He takes his wedding ring out of his pocket and puts it on his finger. When you put it on the finger, he states, you can never take it off, see? He gives it a couple of slight tugs. Esme laughs. Kazim says, listen, woman, I’m never taking this ring off. She’s pleased. Kazim tells her to get his briefcase. It belonged to his father. She gets up. He calls out for Hattuc. Don’t make my yell, he says, my throat hurts!
Seyran is stretched out on the couch, thinking. Suna comes and she’s ready to hear all about what happened. She tells Seyran, I prayed for you all night. Nothing happened, Seyran replies, Ferit and I did nothing. Suna is disappointed. Why? Did you change your mind at the last minute? We got in a fight, Seyran answers. Suna asks why. You ask too many questions, Seyro says, but I’ll tell you.

This is what Ferit does, Seyran explains, as usual he managed to blame me for everything going on. Suna clears her throat. Well… don’t get upset, but I told you that day. Remember when you asked how you could trust Ferit for the rest of your life and he overheard us? No wonder he’s hurt. At least you know he has feelings. Don’t let it get to you. It will pass. Think of last night as a rehearsal. You’ll be calmer tonight.
What are you talking about, Seyran says, I’m telling you we fought. I know what happens when you fight, Suna answers, sometimes one of you runs away, sometimes one of you kidnaps the other. You fight like children. Nothing will come of it. You’ve come this far.
Seyran says she’s not in the mood and nothing will happen tonight. She doesn't want to talk about it anymore. Suna asks her to think about what she’s told her and adds, I’d like to have a nephew. Wouldn’t you like to have a baby? It would be wonderful, Suna gushes, I want to be an aunt. Don’t I have the right? Seyran smiles, of course you have the right. Suna continues with the auntie talk as they leave the room.
Orhan and Fuat are in the office. Ferit comes in. He brings Orhan paperwork from Sadik that needs to be signed. Fuat jokes with Ferit—does Sadik also ask you to bring him tea? Ferit smirks. Orhan asks Ferit, what’s going on with that woman? What woman, Ferit asks nervously.
Fuat mentions Pelin’s mother coming to speak to Grandpa. I told Dad. Orhan asks Ferit if he should be worried. Ferit says no, I was worried at first, that’s why I told my brother. But she only came to thank Grandpa. Did he tell you anything? Orhan says no. He told me nothing, that’s why I’m curious.
Ferit notes that all grandpa thinks about is work. He won’t stop asking for files from the archive. He didn’t give Pelin’s mom much importance. Orhan says, tell Sadik Bey that people are coming from the bank and he should personally attend to them. Ferit leaves. Fuat turns to Orhan, you want to keep Sadik busy? Orhan answers, that’s what we planned, didn’t we? It’s not serious for now, but that could change.
Kazim arrives at the office. He’s still complaining about feeling sick. He shouts then, rings the bell for Betul. She enters and he tells her he’s very sick. I got here two minutes ago and there’s no coffee on my desk. You need to know that if I don’t have coffee every morning, I won’t be awake!
Is that why you yelled, Betul asks. Is that a problem, Kazim replies. No, that’s not what I meant, she says, if you like, use your desk phone next time. I’ll answer personally. It’s a comedy as Kazim tries to figure out how this system will work. He finally says sometimes he’ll yell and sometimes he’ll use the phone. Betul can’t hide her exasperation. Kazim asks her to bring him bitter coffee.
More comedy. Kazim can’t open his briefcase. Someone [Esme?] messed with the combo. He turns it to 000 and opens it. Kazim takes out a saucer and a kahve fincanı and asks Betul to wash it—with hot water. From now on, I want my coffee served in this cup. There’s a virus going around. Use only this one. And stick something on it so everyone knows it’s mine. Betul says she’ll label it. Perfect, he says, Betul, you’re excused.
Betul goes. Kazim takes his father’s framed photo out of the briefcase. Ağam… vay be, ağam… I miss you so much. Look at your son. I am your son, your legacy, Kazim Sanli. Conquering the fortresses of Istanbul one by one. Just watch me. I will do some very unusual things. Bilesin.

Seyran and Suna sit with Asuman and Gulgun in the living room. Asuman says, I figured Orhan Baba and Ifakat Yenge would be against it. But what hurts is you being against it, Gulgun Anne. Gulgun replies, Asuman dear, you got up from the table the way you did, and this is the first thing you say to me today? You obviously made that decision without thinking.
Asu asks, does that mean I’m wrong? No, Gulgun says, but a decision as important as becoming parents has to be carefully considered. What I’m trying to say is that you should think about it… like for 6 months. If you still want to do it then, we could have a serious discussion. Gulgun asks for opinions. It looks like everyone agrees. [funny though, some of these peeps want a Seyfer baby immediately, even though they fight constantly.]
Latif announces a visitor for Gulgun. Zerrin Yilmaz. [Cue the dramatic soundtrack.] Gulgun is surprised. I don’t think Seyran realizes she’s Pelin’s mom. Asu does. She takes the cue and asks Seyran and Suna to come to her room to talk. Zerrin crosses paths with Seyran, Suna, and Asu. There are glances but no other interaction.
Gulgun gives Zerrin a bit of a cool welcome. I don’t feel welcome, Zerrin replies, we have a lot to talk about. Okay, let’s talk, Gulgun says, but first I have something to do. She asks Zerrin to sit and then gives a signal to Latif to take care of her. Latif asks her if she wants something. Tea. He goes.
Gulgun calls Ferit. She tells him Pelin’s mother came. He’s alarmed. He tells her to hang up. He immediately calls Pelin. [We only hear his side of the convo.] Where’s your mother? Your mother is at my house, Pelin. What’s going on? Is she going to harass us every day? What does she want? I won’t let her. We need to talk.
Dicle brings the refreshments and Gulgun asks her to close the door when she leaves. Gulgun starts, I’m glad you returned, Zerrin. Pelin shouldn’t be alone at a moment like this. Zerrin answers, a moment like this? You know, Gulgun replies, after all that happened, she’ll need her mother’s support.
I admit you’re right, Zerrin says, my daughter needs her mother’s support, but are you joking? Aren’t you embarrassed that you called to notify me? Gulgun explains, I called because I was worried about Pelin. Then you know exactly how my daughter feels, Zerrin answers. I wonder if you’re aware that the person responsible is your son.
Gulgun replies, look, Zerrin, they had a romantic relationship, but it ended. Ferit is married now. Zerrin gets snarky. Congratulations on that. But do you also know that your son continued his relationship with my daughter after he got married? Gulgun gulps.

Zerrin continues with Ferit’s words, “I have to get married, Pelin. Because that’s what my grandfather wants. But when he comes to his senses, don’t worry, I’ll get divorced. After that, our relationship will be better than ever.” Gulgun looks stricken. Zerrin says, your son promised all this to my daughter.
Gulgun answers, I can’t know everything they say or promise one another. Zerrin responds, Seriously? Then I’ll ask you something you do know. When your DIL kicked my daughter out of this house, where were you? What did you do? Gulgun admits it was an unpleasant incident. We didn’t know what to do.
Zerrin asks, who brought my daughter here? Look, Gulgun says, everything that happened… Zerrin asks again—who brought my daughter to this house? Can you answer me?
Gulgun understands that Zerrin is upset and that she has a good reason. She says, as a mother, and on behalf of my son, I beg you to forgive me. I apologize to you and your daughter. If you want, I’ll come to your house and speak to Pelin. I’ll apologize to her as well. But there’s nothing more I can do.
Zerrin says, yes, there is something. Something you will have to do. Gulgun asks what. It’s simple, Zerrin replies, talk to your son or whomever you want about this. Just like your son promised Pelin, he can get divorced and marry her.
Gulgun gasps. Are you kidding? Zerrin responds, does it look like I’m kidding? He ruined my daughter’s life. She has no future. You think I can joke about this? But if your son is determined not to keep his promise, I’ll have to tell Halis Bey everything your son did to my daughter. I’ll tell him everything. Do you understand, Gulgun?
I don’t know what to say, Gulgun replies. Zerrin says it’s not time to be speechless yet. If I don’t do this, if I don’t make Halis Bey aware of these matters, then I will come with news of his daughter who lives in London. That will make things more interesting, and maybe then you will pay attention to me

ReplyDeleteThanks so much, dondi. And, by the way, never apologize for the timing in doing a recap. These are a labor of love with zero financial compensation! Your asides were terrific.
Loved "going to the gallows" regarding Seyran mounting the stairs to seduce Ferit. To me this is another example of how different Turkish culture, especially in the area in which Seyran was born, is from our own. Young American girls would not have been indoctrinated quite as much about the importance of their purity.
I'm starting to hate Zerrin as much as the despicable Demir in Lejos de Ti.
Sigh. I am becoming weary of Ifakat's plot in getting the staff to resent their jobs and their pay. Why don't they just respectfully ask for a raise instead of pouting and sulking?
I noticed, dondi, that you're a bit suspicious of Defne. I've gone back and forth, but right now she appears to me not to be flirting. She's a friend (probably with benefits) from his past and seems to be trying to ease his burdens.
Could the writers just get rid of Yusuf, please. My blood pressure went up when he had the colossal nerve to question Suna.
Kazim, for whatever reason, seems to have become an adult with a complete inability to ever read a room. He's been inserted into the Korhan office complex with absolutely nothing to do. And almost immediately he begins to make enemies of the employees there. How in the world does he think he would have any place there if fate hadn't sent Ifakat to lay eyes on Suna?
Gulgun, pfft! It seems to me that Fuat and Asuman have been married for a decent amount of time. Why do they have to wait 6 months to adopt. And it probably would take that long, or more, to get a child.
Zerrin should be thinking about what a miserable life Pelin would have with a man forced into marrying her. Apropos of that, did Ferit actually tell her he'd divorce and marry her? I don't remember that, but I forget lots of things that happened early on.

Suna tends to over-romanticize things, but in this case Seyran would do well to listen to sister’s love advice.
I hate Zerrin more than Demir. She might be thinking only of the Korhan money and prestige. Another one like Kazim, selling his daughters.
ITA about Ifakat’s plot. I don’t understand why Latif doesn’t discuss this issue with Halis. I’m sure he’d do the right thing for the staff.
It’s not that I think Defne is up to something. It’s that if Orhan is seen with Defne too often (outside of any legit business), it could cause a scandal. And I don’t think Gulgun or Ifakat would be happy to find out that Orhan is “sneaking” around with her, even if it’s friendly. When does it become emotional cheating on Orhan’s part?
Yusuf is useless.

ReplyDeleteWell that got extra dark. El Turco was interesting, and loved the costumes, but man, feudal life sucked. I'm looking forward to the (slightly) less violent world of Lejos de Ti, not for lack of trying on Sadakat's part. Now to see if I actually remember or can understand anything!

ReplyDeleteI finally watched 72 completely. Your summary covered it all. Watching Kazim enjoying his office is so funny! His relationship with Esme is intriguing. Every so often I get a glimpse of how he must have been as a boy.
I tried but wasn’t sure if the man in the picture of his father was at the encounter with younger Halis and the Antep guy whose name starts with S.
Defne relaxes Orhan. I like that. But it’s not a good idea for them to hang out. Ifakat was easier to hide. I wonder what Defne is up to.
Ferit and Seyran!!! When one is hot the other is cold. Are they ever going to connect?

Here is a very quick recap:
Cihan catches Alya at the airport. Kisses her. Declares his love. Says they can deal with Ecmel and Mine. Alya doesn't really want to leave Turkey, and besides, the door to the plane gangway is closed. They go back to the mansion (konak) with Deniz.
Sorry - typing on my phone is for the birds. Page jumps up and down and hides behind the keyboard. Need to oust DH from the computer.

ReplyDeleteK, I agree this got very dark. I’m still divided in my mind about it. It probably was more realistic and the life of the regular folks was tough. But I was hoping for an uplifting finale. I can see why Disney didn’t got for it. The acting and costumes and locations were marvelous, however! So, I’m of mixed mind!

While Cihan, Alya and Deniz are at the airport, Mine revels in her victory in getting Alya to leave the country, and she settles in her room at the konak mansion, as the mother-to-be of the heir to the Alboras, Cihan's extracurricular child. Known to be a boy.
Ecmel, Cihan's uncle, is released from prison and arrives home to be greeted by daughter Zerrin and wife Fijan. Son Sahin and Cihan's sister were just married at the end of last season, and they do not know that Ecmel is free and home. Sahin and Nare show up at Ecmel's house. Fijan does not accept Nare as her daugher-in-law. Ecmel lets Nare stay. He says that he will put the resentment against the other branch of the Albora family behind him. (A likely story - he probably realizes the advantages of having Nare in his house). He makes Nare kiss his hand. She is reluctant because Ecmel's men killed her brother Boran in a death feud. Fijan can't deal with Nare being there, and Sahin and Nare leave.
Alya at the airport can't board her plane. She says "now what?" and says she can't leave Cihan behind. They go out to the SUV and Kaya, Muzzafer and Kadir are overjoyed to see her and little Deniz. They return to the mansion.
At the mansion, Cihan confronts Mine. He tells her to leave, even if she tells the family secret to Ecmel. That Ecmel is the father of Boran and grandfather of Deniz, not his brother who married Sadakat while she was pregnant. Cihan tells Mine and Sadakat that he loves Alya. Alya takes his hand and finally says that she loves him. Sadakat is surprised at the united loving couple, ready to take on all problems. Mine is ordered to leave, but she faints on the stairs. Alyan turns into doctor mode and puts her in a room. Sadakat confines her to that room overnight while she recovers. Cihan, and Alya take Sadakat on a drive while they discuss the situations of Ecmel and Mine.
Sahin and Nare next arrive at the Sadakat mansion. Sadakat is as angry as Fijan was. She won't accept Sahin. Cihan won't accept Nare's marriage and he wants Sahin and Nare to divorce, because Sahin's father probably killed Boran, Sahin's older brother. He and Sadakat try to get Nare to leave Sahin. She says she won't leave Sahin, because she loves him. Cihan says "very well" and orders them out of the mansion. They will have nothing more to do with Sahin and Nare. Sahin and Nare leave the mansion. End of episode.

Zerrin is listening to Gulgun suggest that Gulgun might go apologize to Pelin in her name and Ferit’s, but that’s all she can offer. Zerrin tells her she can do more, and she will have to do it. When Gulgun asks what she means, she tells her she can talk to her son or whoever about his getting a divorce, just like Ferit promised Pelin. Then he can marry Pelin. Gulgun tells Zerrin she assumes this is a joke. Zerrin asks he if she looks like she is joking. [No, Zerrin never looks like she is joking!] She tells Gulgun that Ferit ruined her daughter’s life. She has no future. Zerrin tells Gulgun that if Ferit continues not keeping the promise he made, then she will have to tell Mr. Halis the whole story. She asks if Gulgun understands now.
Gulgun: I don’t know what else to say.
Zerrin: If you don’t figure out what to say, then I will come to Mr. Halis with news of his daughter who lives in London. Then maybe you’ll pay more attention to me.
Gulgun is impactada.
Pelin is reading, listlessly looking at the sea from her window. There is a knock at her door. Surprise, it’s Ferit! He has a very serious expression.
Ferit: Why did your mother go to my house?
Pelin: I don’t know. I’m just her daughter. She doesn’t give me explanations.
Ferit: Then I’ll tell you. She threatened my mother to force me to marry you. (Pelin doesn’t answer.) Hey, did you hear what I said?
Pelin: I heard you. But what can I do?
Ferit: What do you mean? Your mother doesn’t know what she’s saying.
Pelin: Only you know what you’re saying.
Ferit: Pelin!
Pelin: What? You think you still have the right to talk to me however you want? I’m tired of always being upset.
Ferit: Why are you upset? What the hell are you talking about? Your mother has no idea what she’s doing. You must stop her.
Pelin unloads with her real feelings: I don’t have to do anything. I already told you I’m not going to do anything or think of anything because I don’t care anymore! You come up with something and make whatever decision you want. After all these years, I have nothing, Ferit! I don’t want people to look at me like this anymore; I have to reclaim my dignity somehow. What more do you want from me? Why must I go through all of this?
Ferit: Stop yelling and calm down.
Pelin: Do you want me to die from this? Is that what you want? I swear I’m going to die of sadness. That’s why I don’t care what you or my other do. I don’t care because I don’t have the strength for it! Do whatever you want, you hear me? If that’s all you have to say, then get out!
Ferit: I’m tired of you and your mother.
He turns and walks out.

At the Korhan offices, Kazim spins in his chair so much that he becomes dizzy.
Betul knocks and he tells her just a minute. He rings the bell and then beckons her inside as if he had rung for her. She brings him his coffee. He praises her and tells her he’d like to see Mr. Halis. She tells him he just went into a meeting. He asks how long it will last and she says not before 3PM, after which he has an online meeting. She has to explain online meetings to Kazim. He says he used to see Halis much more often before he moved into his office. Betul tells him it’s just a busy day. Then Kazim asks for Orhan, and Betul tells him he is also in the meeting.
Kazim: So, what do I do, Betul? He tells her to get back to work, and he will find something to do. He does ask her to let him know if the meeting ends early.
He has a huge magnifying glass that he uses to read the paper. But we see Esme and Hattice approach. He tells Betul to attend to them, but Esme says they aren’t strangers and that this is her husband’s office, Betul having challenged her previously. Esme walks in a proud manner to a chair. Kazim asks for two more coffees. Hattice smiles at all of this! Kazim asks if they like his office. Esme plays with things on his desk. Hattice says: Well, it’s got four walls, I’ll give it that. So, you chose to abandon us so you can be here.
Kazim: Aunt, it’s only been two days. Does that mean you miss me? (He looks at Esme when he asks this, and she smiles back at him.)
Hattice: I got used to you during my time in Istanbul. The three of us were always so close.
Kazim: Sure, I miss you too. Besides, this coffee can’t hold a candle to the coffee you make me at home.
Esme grins: Thankss, my love.
Kazim: It’s true. Betul doesn’t know how to make it. And I love my black sofa at home. It always feels nice to lie on it. But let’s be patient. Listen up, Sanli family. If we can be patient, we’ll be happy.
Hattice: I don’t know about that. I feel trapped in that house. The girls are never there, and neither are you. We’ll probably show up here often.
Kazim: Do it. Whenever you like. It’s your office, too. Don’t worry about it. You miss me, so I get it. It’s not easy to live without me.
Esme grins and fluffs her hair, flirtatiously.
Kazim: Aunt, I want to show you something. But don’t get scared!
Kazim hits his desktop bell hard! Esme laughs and Hattice asks what that was. Kazim laughs.
Back in the yali attic, Seyran and Suna enter the suite. Suna: How boring it is in this house when there’s nothing to do. It’s like time stands still.
Seyran: When I first got here, I just counted the hours.
Suna: I have to tell you something, Ms. Seyran. I love your bed. It’s very comfortable.
Suna grins, suggestively.
Seyran: Stop, don’t start with that again.
Suna: You should start getting the ambience going.
Seyran: What do you mean by that?
Suna: You could text Ferit and ask him how he’s doing. He’s probably bored at the office.
Seyran: I told you we fought and you’re telling me to text him?
Suna: Seyran, one of you has got to take the first step and stop torturing the other.
Seyran: And if he blows up again?
Suna: Just show him that you’re willing to trust him and we’ll see if he blows up again tonight when he comes home.

Seyran: Fine, but I’m not so sure I’m interested anymore. At this rate, it’s becoming a problem without a solution.
Suna: Congrats, Sis! Right on! Do it!
Seyran: Should they change the sheets again?
Suna: No, they just changed them yesterday. Don’t exaggerate.
Seyran: I don’t know. I was so calm and now I’m nervous again.
Suna: You don’t need to be nervous. Let Ferit do the worrying. I’ve prayed so much for you that I’m sure it’ll be just fine.
Seyran is ready to text: What do I tell him?
Suna: Something that makes him forget whatever it was you fought about.
Seyran: Like what?
Suna: Like, “I miss you.”
Seyran: No!
Suna: Why not?
Seyran: Because it’s not true.
Seyran starts thinking and finally smiles as she comes up with an answer.
Halis is adding up numbers as he goes over accounts. There’s a knock and Orhan enters.
Orhan: Dad, are you busy?
Halis: Come in, Orhan.
Orhan looks impactado by something, but walks in and takes a seat: I just wanted to see how you were doing. You’ve been working nonstop.
Halis: On the contrary, I haven’t been doing enough. I see that now. Productivity is on the decline; you replaced your entire design team. Thankfully, the bazaar’s still going. That’s the only place that runs smoothly.
Orhan: We have our ups and down sometimes. I didn’t want to tell you so as not to worry you.
Halis: Let’s see how our overseas branches are doing.
Orhan looks at what Halis has in his hands and is very concerned. He appears mesmerized as Halis goes to pull out some documents. Orhan is opening and closing his fist in anxiety.
Orhan, to stop Halis from looking further: Dad! I’d like to talk to you about something. The thing is Fuat and Asuman decided to adopt a baby.
Halis, in an annoyed manner: Why’d they make that decision?
Orhan: I don’t know. Maybe that was the condition for her coming back. I was against it, but they seem to have made up their minds. As you’re aware, they were all set to get divorced.
Orhan keeps staring at the document that Halis is about to read, but Orhan’s strategy worked. Halis closes the binder and sighs: Do those kids think it’s all a game? Marriage? Divorce? Parenthood?
Orhan, looking like a huge weight has been lifted off his shoulders: And, Dad, what should we tell them?
Halis: You made your thoughts on the matter clear.
Orhan: Dad, they don’t seem to be doing very well.
Halis: OK, I’ll consider it. It’s hard for me to control my thoughts lately, and now I’m distracted again.
Orhan: I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to bring you down.
Halis: Don’t apologize, I’m glad I know. (He stands.) Ms. Hattice and Esme came to visit Kazim in his office. So, we should go up. We need to welcome them.
Orhan really wants to secure the binder instead, but he agrees to go with Halis.

Ferit is typing. He’s frustrated with the screen, and Mr. Sadik is watching him closely.
Sadik: There’s no problem, is there?
Ferit: No, Mr. Sadik. Just doing what you asked.
Sadik: You wanted to do a real task and that’s a real task. But don’t get distracted. If you make even the slightest mistake, you’ll have to review column by column, which would be a big waste of your time.
Ferit: OK, don’t worry. I’ll give it my maximum focus.
Ferit gets a message on his phone. Seyran sent a picture of two nighties and asks which he likes best.
Ferit blinks and then looks at Sadik and then back at his phone. He hides the phone behind his desk and writes an answer: I think you got confused and meant to text Suna.
Seyran texts: No, I actually meant to ask you last night, but we didn’t get the chance to talk.
Once again, Ferit hides the phone and answers: Are you messing with me? Did you forget I was working? I’m supposed to pick out your lingerie now?
Sadik has now noticed that his attention is not on his task. Ferit tries to maintain composure.
Seyran reacts to his message, asking herself what she is doing. Do whatever you want, Ferit.
She starts to text: You’re right. I’m sorry. I won’t bother you anymore.
Ferit puts his phone away with a wry expression. He asks Sadik if he can get some tea.
Sadik asks who he was messaging.
Ferit: With my wife. I swear, Mr. Sadik. I can show them to you if you don’t believe me. Well, not really, but you should believe me. Give me two minutes to talk to her, and after that this will have my complete focus. What do you say?
Sadik motions him to go ahead. Ferit tells him he is very understanding, and Sadik tells him not to push it.
Ferit goes outside and salutes, and Sadik laughs with him. [I like how Sadik is warming to Ferit’s charm. He is going to be a challenge for Sadik to train!]
Ferit is trying to figure out what to say to Seyran. He calls.
Ferit: Seyran, what was all that about? I’m serious. Tell me why you sent that picture. I want to know. Can you hear me?
Seyran: I can hear you.
Ferit: Then why aren’t you answering?
Seyran: Because when we talk, we fight. Can we text instead?
Ferit: No, Seyran, I have a lot of work and might have to stay.
Seyran: Impossible. Come here immediately.
Ferit: Why? What’s going on?
Seyran gets her playful look: The reason is the picture I sent you.
Ferit: Seyran, I should get back to work. Tell me what you’re planning.
Seyran: Ferit, I’m…ready.
Ferit: For what?
Seyran: Don’t you get it, Ferit? Can you use your brain?
Ferit: Are you messing with me? You and me? Is that what you’re talking about?
Seyran: Yes. That’s what I’m talking about. Don’t be late.
Ferit: Seyran, I promised I’d finish the files today, but I’ll do all I can to be home as early as possible. Wait for me!
Seyran is grinning and makes an “I won” gesture. She falls back on the bed and says her heart feels like it’s going to burst.

Ferit is also looking happy after the phone call. He tells himself his prayers were answered.
Ferit: I can’t believe it’s finally going to happen.
Back in the attic suite, Seyran tries on different nighties, heels, outfits, perfumes, and other enticing things in front of the mirror. Peppy, happy music accompanies her.
At the office, Ferit is trying to concentrate on his work, but checks for messages often. [I’ll put money on Ferit making one of the mistakes Sadik was warning him about, creating much more work for him!]
At the yali dinner, Seyran looks very fetching, but Ferit is still at work.
We finally see Ferit close his folder and head for home. Meanwhile, the sisters are trying different outfits. Seyran looks very alluring in her elegant navy negligee.
Gulgun is staked out on the landing. Is she waiting for Ferit? Of course she is. He tells her Seyran is waiting for him. Gulgun tells him she must talk to him. [Oh No!!!] Meanwhile Seyran is waiting. She finally decides to tie her robe and go downstairs. Gulgun is asking Ferit why he promised he would marry Pelin. He tells Gulgun so what, it was all a long time ago. Those things are said at the beginning of a relationship.
Gulgun: So, you said those things?
Ferit: Yes, but they aren’t the problem. The problem is that girl’s mother. She’s not right in the head.
Gulgun: OK, but when you married Seyran, remember what you told me.
Ferit: I said I would do it because of Grandfather.
Gulgun: And did you tell Pelin you would divorce her?
Ferit: Yes, Mom, it’s true. I did say that.
Seyran arrives just in time to overhear this conversation.
Ferit: I was still with Pelin when you told me I was going to marry some girl. What could I do? I did nothing wrong.
Gulgun: So, then they are both right. That’s why that woman is all worked up. You made the poor girl a bunch of promises and gave her false hope.
Ferit: Yes, and you made me big promises too. You said you’d “find some girl and put her in your room and then you can keep living your life, Ferit.” I might have made promises to Pelin, but you promised me stuff too, Mom.
Seyran walks closer and Gulgun sees her.
Gulgun: Seyran.
Ferit: Seyran.
They both know the gig is up. She is very impactada and runs upstairs, followed by Ferit.
Ferit: Seyran, wait. What’s going on?
Seyran, blinking back tears: Remember what you asked me in the cabin? If I wanted a divorce? You asked me for an answer.
Seyran takes off her wedding ring and puts it in Ferit’s palm: This is my answer.
Ferit: What is this, Seyran? Don’t do anything dumb.
Seyran: The only dumb thing I did was thinking I could trust you. Why are you still trying to defend yourself? Didn’t you hear what you just told your mother?
Ferit: I don’t know what you heard, but you must have misunderstood. Put this [ring] back on.

Seyran: It’s over, Ferit. You wanted to have a wife back home to cover up for the nonsense you were thinking of doing. Even your parents forced you to get married. Talk about low.
Ferit: You were a stranger back then, Seyran. I said those things back then, made those promises back then. Why are you overreacting?
Seyran: Overreacting? Does your girlfriend know those were empty promises? You made me promises too. So, I have to wonder how honest you are.
Ferit: Why won’t you understand?
Seyran: It’s you who doesn’t understand. Forget about me. Why would you force a woman to do that? To keep her locked up, so that you could go out and then, after some time, get divorced eventually. You’re despicable. How am I supposed to believe you? Answer me, Ferit. How can I trust you? Would you trust you if you’d heard what I did?
Ferit: Things are different now, Seyran. You’re not the same either. You changed. Yusuf was part of your life. Didn’t you dream of running away with him? Was I supposed to wait every night for you to run away with him?
Seyran: It’s not the same. My father forced me to get married, it’s true, but neither I nor my family have looked at this marriage like it’s a game. Do you realize what I heard?
Ferit finally looks impactado.
Seyran: The mother of my future husband only chose me in order to cover up her son’s love life, as his girlfriend waits for the day he gets divorced. Tell her she doesn’t have to wait anymore. I bet you’re talking again (She hits him in the chest as she realizes this.) Maybe you never lost touch at all. Go tell her. What are you waiting for? Go tell her.
Ferit: Seyran, please stop. I’m trying to explain that all that was in the past. We didn’t have a relationship at that point. I didn’t even know you.
Seyran: I don’t think I can ever know you, Ferit. Remember our first day married, the things you said? At that moment, you were certain we’d split up. Admit it. You remember? You walked in circles, then you’d stare into my eyes. Didn’t you feel any remorse? Didn’t it make you uncomfortable to hold my hand or kiss me?
Ferit brushes back tears: Seyran.
He tries to put her ring back on.
Ferit: I know that you were hurt by what you heard. I understand. But please, stop thinking of my past. I’m begging you. We can’t keep going back to it because there’s nothing I can change. I can’t change what I told Pelin, and I can’t change how I felt the moment I first saw you. But what I do from now on is in my hands. And yours. We can both change this. Please. Listen, please take this [ring]. Please forgive me. I’m sorry, please put it back on. He reaches for her hand, but she pulls it back.
Seyran walks to the bed and takes a pillow and throws it on the sofa, a sign that one of them will be sleeping there.
Seyran: I don’t want to fight anymore. In fact, I never want to fight with you again. We’ll talk tomorrow when our minds are clearer. About what the next step is, how the divorce will play out, (she gets her regular pajamas out of the drawer) and how we will tell our families. OK? Right now I don’t want to look at you or hear your voice.
She goes into the bathroom. Ferit is very impactado. He goes out on the patio and looks at the water. Sad music is playing. He still has the ring.
The next morning, he is sleeping on the sofa. He wakes up suddenly. He looks around and sees Seyran still asleep in the bed. He goes over to his desk and starts writing in a journal. He drops her ring on the desk. When he finishes writing, he tears out the page. He lays it on her nightstand with her ring. He kneels and plays with a strand of her hair. He snuggles a bit before standing up. She is awake and hears him leave. She reads the note: “Please take your ring. I love you.”

Downstairs, Ifakat walks to the stairs and Orhan asks if they can talk. She tells him there’s nothing to talk about. He tells her it is important. She follows him into his office.
Orhan: Remember Pelin, Ferit’s ex-girlfriend? Her mother came to the office the other day to thank Dad. And yesterday she was here visiting Gulgun.
Ifakat: So, that’s who she was. Sultan notified me, but I didn’t take it seriously.
Orhan: You messed up, Ifakat. That woman is more dangerous that she seems. She openly threatened Gulgun by telling her that she knows Nukhet.
Ifakat: I don’t care about that, believe me. If she’s threatening your wife, that’s something for the two of you to resolve.
She coldly turns to leave.
Orhan: So it’s like that from now on, Ifakat?
Ifakat: What did you expect? You’re the one who wanted me out of your life. Now you want me to clean up your disasters?
Orhan: I was just warning you, Ifakat. Dad’s looking for our weaknesses. If that woman comes to Turkiye right now, that’d be a true disaster. Don’t believe for a second that Dad would continue supporting us. In fact, you’d be the first person he would abandon. That’s why you should do all you can to bring Dad back home to the yali. When he was here, at least he was under your control.
Up in the attic, Ferit walks out of the bathroom. Seyran is up and picking clothes to wear. The note and ring remain by her bed. He wishes her “Good Morning.” She does the same.
Ferit: I was going to wake you up, but I didn’t.
Seyran: I wouldn’t have woken up if you hadn’t left that note. That was very sweet of you. Did you expect me to change my mind and put the ring back on after reading that note?
Ferit: Seyran, why are you doing this? The things that happened, the things we talked about…you weren’t in my life back then.
Seyran: Fine, how about we go over the days that I was in your life? You started flirting with me from the very beginning. You were trying to get close to me. Even when you tried to kiss me against my will, you were actually thinking of getting divorced?
Ferit: Didn’t we just talk about this? Can’t we put it behind us?
Seyran: How? We can’t put anything behind us. With you, I have to deal with the same things every day. Whenever I try to trust you, whenever I want to believe in you, something happens. One way or another, you show your true face. Something must really be protecting me from you.
Ferit: Really? Protecting you from me? Like I’m an actual danger to you?
Seyran: Aren’t you, Ferit? Think of everything we’ve gone through.
Ferit goes and takes the ring from the nightstand: I’ll think about it. But you should wear this ring to keep up appearances. (He places it in her palm.) And while you’re thinking of that, I’ll think about how big a danger I am.
Ferit leaves and Seyran stands looking at the ring in her palm.

ReplyDeleteWhen Alya and Cihan were driving with Sadakat to somewhere and she just kept blathering on and on about Nare, all I could think was they need to tell her to shut it. And then Cihan did! Sort of. I think he asked himself "why won't she stop talking?" Still. Progress on his part!
Seems Sahin and Nare should leave both of their families and start over somewhere else but we know that won't happen. Poor Nare. I wish she had slapped her brother when he held his hand up to her but she made the right choice (live with a murderer or her mother- and her mother is Sadakat so murderer it is!). Doesn't she still have the house she lived in with the dead husband? Go there and block all the parents from your phones.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Anastasia! You got it all. I just watched it. I had early physical therapy for my hand and then took a loooong nap. As a lifelong night owl, having to accept a 7:00 A.M. appointment was brutal. Then I watched the England/Argentina match. I really wanted England to win. Woke up at 2PM and started watching my recording.
That was a very well-acted episode, as well as being a frustrating one. Poor Nare and Zerrin. They both were forbidden to be with the one they love. I'm wondering how Alya will feel about Cihan exiling Nare. And, K, who did Sahin murder? I don't remember. And BTW, welcome back. It's nice to see you here.
Sadakat was annoying on steroids in this episode. It seemed as if Cihan preferred to walk in a wilderness rather than hear another minute of it.
And poor Zerrin has to live with Demir to protect Kaya from being killed by him. Is my memory correct that she also agreed to have everyone think the baby she's expecting is Demir's?

ReplyDeleteI don't remember if Sahin killed anyone or not, but everyone is pretty sure that his father Ecmel is responsible for Nare's brother Boran's death. No hard proof available after Hamadan was assassinated.
And yes, Zerrin agreed to tell everyone that her baby was Demir's, not Kaya's.

We open with guns drawn after the bride brings her groom to her family home. Nare is told she’s to get a divorce or never darken their door again. Cihan orders the big door closed in Nare and Sahin’s faces. Sadakat faints. [I just don’t get this plot point that guilt passes down to the next generation. Sahin and Cihan were close when this dizi began. Why does Cihan refuse to accept Sahin as his brother-in-law because Ecmel is evil?]
Sadly, Sadakat recuperated fast, and she’s ragging on the whole family from her bed. Nare WILL get a divorce, and she gets in a dig at Kaya because he loves Zerrin. She really steps in it when she tells Cihan he betrayed Boran by falling in love with Alya. First Cihan shouts, and then he tells her he tried not to fall for Alya, but love can’t be resisted. And it’s not betrayal.
Ecmel tells Demir he’s sorry what happened to his father. [I don’t really remember this.]
Sahin and Nare return to Sahin’s house, and Sahin says that Sadakat didn’t approve of their getting married. Nare tells Ecmel what the issue is: it’s said he killed Boran. Sahin says that the Hamada was not the real one. Alya knew he was not. Nare adds that Cihan chased him, but he was killed before Cihan could question him. [Anyone who understands this better than I do, please chime in.]
Alya comforts Cihan on the balcony.
Sahin is right in the middle of this. Ecmel keeps saying Cihan is lying. [But I think Sahin has a pretty good idea of the more likely person to be telling the truth.] Demir tells Ecmel that, if he finds out Ecmel tried to blame his father for this, Ecmel will be living in hell. Ecmel says it was Cihan, while Nare first turns away in disgust and then yells her defense of her brother.
Sadakat has Mine somewhere and under guard.
Cihan reminds his mother that he’s being careful, and also that he lost Meryam. [She was his fiancé, and there was an attack at their engagement party. She wasn’t killed but left the area IIRC.]
Alya plans to cook for ‘lil Cihan and invites Cihan also.
Sahin and Nare end up at a hotel. He teases her that she misses his mansion and that they’ll go back!
Alya has made tomato soup for her Cihans. She’s come around to calling the boy that. Lil Cihan is happy they didn’t leave, saying he’d miss papa. Alya smiles and says it’s a happy thing they didn’t go.
Fidan wonders if Nare will convince Sahin to leave the area. She gets into bed with the husband who’s been gone so long and touches his arm. He turns his back on her, saying he needs to sleep.

*Anastasia, Blue Lass, Liz, Novelera, Dondi356, Kat in SC, Halimacandy: Dahlila was taking a break in the restroom when she got startled by a naked Constanza. Something tells me it might be foreshadowing something between these two 🤔
*Later, we see Dahlila having sex with her husband at home LOL.
*The computer hackers continue upping the ante even further.
*Alfaro & the weird sidekick at the big casino.
*Aurelio & Felina discussing whether to throw Hothead Diana & Isturiz to the wolves.
*Nina having flashbacks of everything dating back to Season 8.

Sahin tells Nare that, whatever happens with their families, he loves her more than anything in the world, and he trusts her. He begs her not to leave him. She answers that he’s always been in her heart. It’s so enjoyable to see these two together and with no angry relatives. We get a kiss and their lying back on the bed, all very discreet and suitable for the censors.
Sheesh! Cihan is apparently still going to sleep on the sofa in the adjoining office. He says he wishes it weren’t so difficult to touch her. She reminds him that she shot him. He says that he knows he damaged her by forcing her into marriage. She realizes that he was forced to do so. She arrived hating everything, but something happened to her when she first met him. For 5 seconds something broke inside her and something began. Cihan looks SO pleased. He says that their path hasn’t been easy, but they’ve come a long way. And, side by side, he no longer fears the way forward. When she asks what he feared before, he replies that he’d lose her. He says that they need time and kisses her on the forehead. In the doorway to the adjoining room, he says that he wrote all the things that he said in court when she tried to divorce him. And that they were all true. [IIRC he told her then that his lawyer made him memorize them.]
Cihan has a terrible nightmare in which he and Boran fight over Alya. And Cihan stabs his brother. He wakes up with a shout, and Alya is there offering him water. She tells him he’s obviously not doing well. And that she thinks he feels as if he’s trying to forget Boran. Listen, we won’t forget him. We’re simply beginning something new. He says that he’s been changing. Being responsible for so many others has made him feel crushed under the weight of it. Alya says that no one ever asks how he feels. They just never do. He says that his conscience still affects him, but he loves her with his whole heart. She says the same. And that she loves him without fear. And love is not a crime.
Alya awakes and Cihan is not there. He’s gone to Boran’s grave for a chat. He says he was upset that Boran wanted him to marry Alya, but he felt compassion for her pain. He took on her suffering, and she did the same for him. Then compassion turned to love. He’d never felt that way before: genuine, silent, heavy, very deep and profound. It’s that I love her, and I’m so sorry. He kisses his hand and puts it on Boran’s headstone. He’s leaving when he sees a 40 or 50-something woman Arrive to place a bouquet on Boran’s grave. He tries to catch up with her, but she eludes him.

Alya and Lil Cihan come in for breakfast. Sadakat starts right in when Cihan comes in. She’s bringing up Mine. Alya almost shuts her down for the child’s sake. Lil Cihan asks where Nare is. Sadakat grumbles something about her being in hell. Alya says that Nare got married, and the boy wonders why they didn’t go to the wedding. Sada chokes on her food when Lil Cihan says his mother now wants to call him Cihan.
Alya, Cihan and Kaya have gone to visit Nadim. Demir is there dripping venom. Nadim says he tried to prove he was not a killer. Cihan pushed him over a precipice. Kaya says that Ecmel is to blame. He killed Boran. Demir explodes, saying Kaya was at fault. [I’m not loving this whole scene because I’ve mostly forgotten what happened.] Demir blows up at his father, telling him he better not do any deals with Cihan.
Kaya controls himself when Demir rushes out after them. Zerrin reminds him of their deal. And, if my father is the one who deceived your father, will you keep calling me wife? Will you continue being the father of Kaya’s child? If you touch Kaya, you lose me.
Sadakat has come to see Mine. She wants the documents Ugur gave her. Sada overturns Mine’s breakfast and begins tearing through all Mine’s papers. Mine goes into the bathroom and calls Ecmel. She says she has some information important to him, and she needs to meet with him. With the help of her guard, Sadakat barges in and snatches her phone.
Zerrin has come to the university and is feeling nauseous. Ipek, Sadakat’s bubbly choice for Kaya, approaches and guesses Zerrin is pregnant.
Ecmel has arranged some big gathering of people in Albora. He wants Sahin and Nare to come to his event. Cihan finds out about it, and plans to show up and stir something up.
Cihan has a business meeting that includes his lawyer. It involves something about needing a new license to increase the capacity of a factory in Midyat.
Sadakat snarls at Mine that, if she didn’t have that baby inside her… She stomps on Mine’s phone. And then she shows Mine a picture on her phone of Mine’s daughter. [This is the child that Viewerville has wondered for a long time why she’s never around.] Sadakat knows where the child is. If the documents get to Ecmel, she’ll send Mine’s daughter somewhere where no one will ever know her name. And Mine will never find her.
What’s with women whose names end with kat? We have Sadakat in Lejos and Ifakat in Golden. Both are scheming and domineering.

ReplyDeleteGreat summary, Novelera. I’m still adjusting to these characters. I seem to have forgotten many of their personalities. Interesting observation that Sadakat and Ifakat from Golden are both annoying! So perhaps the suffux kat should be a warning sign!
I wish Cihan could lose the guilt. Surely his brother wishing them to marry would want these two beloved people to be happy. Cihan carries abundant guilt. I hope he gets to be relaxed and happy at some point.
Smirking Mine is a pain, but she didn’t deserve Sadakat IMHO. I wonder what’s the deal with the daughter.
I thought Fidan looked very nice. Wonder what’s up with Ecmel. Seems like he should enjoy a warm marriage bed after his jail term.
Who is the mystery woman from the graveyard?
I have no idea, but these long dizis have lots of people from the past show up here and there.
