Abismo de pasión #66 6/13/12: The younger villains have a bad day, Tangel-Ho better brace for the big reveal... good guys huddle and put their thinking caps on

Recap by Marta Ivett

Refritos:
Guido and Alfie conversation about Paolo and Tangel-Ho… Tangel-Ho should feel flattered that Paolo is jealous of her.  Guido is more worried about Paulo. He asks her a favor, to fire him from the procesadora.
What would you get out of that? Maybe he will want to return to Mex. And what would that mean with the offer I made you?  Guido tells her he has watched over Paulo as a parent since their parents died, if Paulo returns to Mex, he would have to go too. Alfie is not a happy camper with that response.

The procesa…
Dam and Flo arrive. Flo offers to stay with him, he says no need, just like there was no need for her to walk him there. Maru tells him he has a visitor waiting. Flo turns around interested.
IT’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s cry me a river Elisa!

lo nuevo...

Barbie, haven't you heard you should think about it before you sign on the dotted line?
Dam is very cold staring at her, she seems a bit sorry.
-You came alone? Where is Gael?... what can I do for you?
-we need to talk about my lands. Why did the works continue?
-Because there is a signed contract.
-But I don’t want anything to do with your business…
-Even if you don’t want it, we have invested money and we won’t lose that investment. You more than anyone should be interested in having the lands produce.
-In the end all of you will end up keeping the lands and everything they produce!..
-why do you say that?...
-because I know, and that’s that!

one of my favorite scenes of the night... where can we find diva wrestler outfits for these girls? or at least boxing gloves!! ding ding!!.
When Elisa leaves Dam’s office, Flo confronts Elisa … Flo wants to know what she talked with D…
-It was a business matter…
-I am sure D won’t return with you. he understand his place is with a woman like me, not with the daughter of the woman who killed his father!...
-(slap!) This is so you won’t talk to me like that ever again. (Slap!) And this is so you don’t mess with my mother again!

Talk to the hand!
At rectory, Loopy/Gael..
Gael overslept, Loopy is doing his fav pastime, having coffee and eating… Loopy mocks Gael… you went out late last night and came back late.
Maybe you have something to tell me.
Nope. I will just go to work now.
Don’t you want breakfast?
Lost my apetite!

next time fill out request for time and call the absence line and turn your 'out of office' on.. btw, feel free to just run out anytime.
Inmundo at office, Paloma arrives, she is very happy.
What happened to you yesterday?
I had something urgent to do and had to run out.
You could have told me.
I swear it wont happen again.
Did you fix the issue?
Yes! I talked to Gael… (she is ready to give him the two hour explanation but he cuts her off)
-don’t worry, I am in a hurry. Could you organize the records file? All in all, I am glad you are ok.

I couldn't sleep so i dont 'want anyone to sleep at my boo boo's house either!
Paolo arrives at Casa Castigo, yelling he wants to talk to Augie, he is drunk. He walks right over Lolita. Augie comes out of studio to face him.
Nothing to talk about. Leave my  house.
I wont go until we talk about your dear wife.
(Pop! Goes the sleazel)
Well Hello, Mrs Carm Bouvier. Why don’t we tell your husband what we have?
Are you crazy?
Why don’t you tell him about how many times we met alone, and made love?

The hacienda was the whiner hot spot for the night for sure!
At hacienda, Tonia catches Alfie heading out, heard they fired Gabino.
Nope, you heard wrong. He still works there. Vicente’s issue is solved, from now on he will work for my son.

Flo arrives to hacienda mad. She ran into Elisa at procesa…
she hit me! The wild one hit me!

Back to Casa Castigo… the argument/confrontation hot spot... the more the merrier
Guido arrives right in middle of the cock fight…
That’s enough! Paolo, get out and wait for me outside! I am sorry mr castigo for any trouble my brother caused.
I am thankful but tell your bro that next time I won’t respond.
Guido and Paolo leave, Tangel-Ho opens her excuse no’s 563 and 334 and blames it all on Paolo… Don’t worry, I don’t feel like getting it cleared up. But remember what I told you earlier, it still stands. Augie goes back to studio. Lolita just stares and nods to Tangel-Ho from wall.

too many chiefs, indians confused...
Dam and Chente at Dam’s office at procesadora…
Sorry, Charlie but I don’t need assistants.
It was a favor my parents asked Alfie for.
In that case I will talk to Braulio to see where we place you.
Your mother said…
My mother’s orders are not my issue.  Shouldn’t you be studying instead of working? I will let you work for me with the condition that you study in afternoon. If you want to work here you have to continue with your studies.
So you will let me be your assistant?
I already told you I don’t need an assistant, but you can be a messenger.
Chente feels offended taking it as a demotion. Chente leaves, Dam smiles.

back at whiner's hot spot for the night...
Flo arrives to hacienda in a huff and whines to Alfie…
That wild animal Elisa hit me! my dad should hear about this.
Alfie says no way, surely Dam will defend Elisa.
And what? We just forgive and forget and nothing happened her just like that after what she did?
Yes, you will need to keep quiet. We don’t want to re-unite Elisa with my son. Don’t complicate things, the one that might end up losing is you.

Guido and Paolo arrive at hacienda.
Paolo is offended at lack of support from big bro. But Guido wants to hear none of it.
-This is the last straw. You will go back to mex with me today. How far do you want to go with this lie?
-You really think it is a lie? Would you believe me so stupid to talk to her husband if it were a lie?
-Even if it were not, it is obvious you don’t matter to this woman.
-Leave me alone.

the aftermath debriefing after the confrontations...
Elisa arrives home mad about the confrontation with Flo. Tells Lolita about it, Flo told her Dam went back with her. Lolita already knew, Horacio had told her. Elisa questions why she did not tell her before.
-Didn’t want to hurt you. it is obvious Dam wants to forget you in another girls’ arms.
-That does not justify him! Why Flo, or at least why not wait a while?
Lolita reminds Elisa the problem (the lie about not loving Dam) is getting huge and when she wants to fix it it will be too late.
-With so many problems, this house seems like a nuthouse. When it is not one issue, its another…
-what happened now? That Paolo came to make a scandal here about Tangel-Ho and him.
Elisa impactada.

(first comm brk)

Sorry, Gael, just when you thought you were beginning to know your sister... she starts acting a bit loopy...
At Cielo abierto fields, Gael is leading the workers, Kenya arrives.. Gael greets her with a hug. She is looking for Augie.
-What are u doing here? Why ask for Don Aug?
-I was at Elisa’s and was going to invite her to eat, she asked me to take a message to her dad. Nothing else.
-yah right. Nothing else..
-I was going to ask you why you are in middle of the issue Elisa/Dam?
-I already told her I don’t want to play that script anymore. I am trying to take her out of my heart. I accepted Paloma.
-No, Gael, that notion of ‘one nail takes another nail out’ doesn’t work.
-Ah! ah you too are in love. Tell me who it is.
(Kenya is smiling happy that he seems to worry about her life)
-I love it.
- what?
-That you talk to me with that big brother jealousy rage.

Ramona the voice of conscience... love her!
At cemetery, Ramona is at Estefie’s grave, sees Augie arrive, she tells him where the toumb is, tells him:
-Stefie must be smiling in heaven because you finally decided to come see her. It’s the first time, right?
-yup. Didn’t know besides curandera you are fortune teller.
-You are here because of the love you once felt for her.
-I found a picture of Elisa’s mom in her room…
-And you realized you haven’t forgot her.
-Haven’t forgot her betrayal. I ended up with a dry empty heart.
-But something has changed, no?
-I have begun to feel again, to love. It feel like I am betraying her now, her the worst of women. What hurts most is that I have the certainty I won’t love any woman as I loved her. Estefie doesn’t deserve my love.
-Careful what you say, maybe one day you will regret it.
-I hope one day I will be able to forgive her.
-And if that is a hard concept, think how hard it will be to forgive yourself, because one day you will want to. One day the whole town will know Stefie was innocent of what everyone had said about her. I assure you next time you come here you will be kneeling at her toumb asking her for forgiveness.

(Augie leaves, Ramona remembers the accident…and stefie’s words: I had to stop them)

Dam, please learn a little from your old pals and start using some brain cells...
At procesa, Lucio arrives. Maru tells Dam Lucio is here.
Dam happy to see him.
-How’s the drumstick?
-Leg is good now, thanks.
-I am here to talk about the contract with Elisa. Read it and came to conclusion that the procesa must comply with it.
Dam is in agreement. Elisa came by to talk about it too. Also, Alfie is in agreement, since putting the lands to produce will be good for the business of my dad.
Lucio does not understand what Alfie is getting out of it. (Lucio’s brain gears might be old but they still work) unless… it is not a simple loan…
Dam asks what he is thinking…
Lucio is sure Alfie loaned that money to Elisa in exchange for something else…
what?...
hasn’t Elisa told you anything?...
we barely talked, guess you don’t know we split.
Why? What happened?
(Paolo is making a scandal at Maru’s desk and they hear it from inside)..
Dam and Lucio come out as Gabino is firing Paolo. Paolo turns to Dam, and tries to eat him up since he thinks it is Dam’s order, but Gab says it is orders from Alfie.
Dam surprised Alfie wants to fire Paolo.
Paolo whines to Gab,Thought you were my friend.
Orders are orders, man!.
Go to hell! All you go to hell! (I can see Paolo walking out, telling the truck ‘And that goes for you too!!’)
Dam, Lucio and Gab are there still,
-What are you doing here, Gabino? I fired you.
-Excuse me but you  better talk to your mother.
Lucio laughs it off… we will keep talking another day.

a little surprise visit... surprised me even!...
Gael arrives at dr office … stands behind paloma. Tippy toes around her desk unnoticed. ‘IF you leave everything messy, he will fire you.’ She is so happy to see him, big hug. Gael extends Kenya’s invitation to Paloma, but Paloma is busy fixing the Dr’s files, all the records are out of order. But she won’t let him off easy…
- But if you want you can come see me tonight.
-Ok.
He leaves but first she demands a kiss goodbye.
- See you tonight.
Paloma is in la-la land.

orangina's bad day is not quite over yet...
Tangel-Ho in bed, depressed… Elisa comes in.
Elisa asks about the Paolo scandal, heard something from Lolita.
Elisa is not really happy with what is happening with Tangy-ho,
-It doesn’t make me happy because it affects my dad. I never liked the idea of you two married, but I would have wanted to see it work out.
Tangel-Ho accuses her of poisoning her marriage and her baby’s death since she was a kid. If the baby was not dead, things between Augie and her would be different.
-You have blamed me for it all my life. It has been many years of carrying that guilt.
Tangel-Ho repeats her accusation recording..
-no, you don’t know how much I would have wanted to have a little brother. And what I would have given to have him here now. And don’t blame me for his death and for the life you have led.
-So easy to say that, you wanted a little brother and I wanted a son. No, you have not suffered what I have. …
-I only know what my dad’s life has been like at your side. In any case, the only one to blame for her disgrace, is you, tia. You tangled him up and confused him until he married you, but he never stopped loving my mother, because not you nor anyone will get her out of his heart. …
-(the wounded animal still has some fight left in her) If it were true, why does your dad have a lover at this time in his life?
-lover? no, my dad has no lover…
- It is the talk of the whole town. …
-you know I don’t care about the latest cover story of the Ermita enquirer…
-you are so stupid, don’t even realize one of your ‘amigas’ is in bed with your dad…
-you always blame everyone else, because you can’t accept your own errors…
-it is Kenya, you stupid…
-leave Kenya in peace, how can you think of her…
-you need to open your eyes, realize what happens around you once and for all!

Kenya the stalker... going after her prey in public?
Kenya finds Augie in middle of town square… She wants to hug him telling him not to avoid her anymore, he tries to shake her off him… he realizes people are looking at them… she keeps saying she loves him, - I like you as a woman but I can’t love you, can’t love anyone!...
Augie is trying to shake her off him so violently, Gael comes to them..
-Don Augie! Let go my sister! What is going on here?
(comm brk)

Back at Dr office…
Nancy Drew-wanna be finds a clue...
Paloma is still working on the patient files, runs into the one for Carmina…… she at first resists, but can’t help it but open it. She must have found something amusing enough, from her facial expression.
Ramona walks in and catches her with her hands on the dough…
-I came to the market and figured I would stop by to check out your workplace.
Paloma visibly scared.
-I noticed you got scared when I came in.
-I was just distracted.
-no, you got scared, as if I had caught you doing something wrong.
-I was just filing away some records. And ran into Elisa’s aunt’s record… hey, grannie, do you remember the exact date when Stefie died? ..
-yes, why.
-Because according to this record, Dr Tovar said Carmina was pregnant right after Stefie died, but that was well before Carmina got married.

Big bro realizes he might have a stalker for a sis...
Back outside at plaza, Gael asks Kenya and Augie What is going on. He seems a bit miffed now… Was Augie bothering Kenya? Kenya jumps in Augie’s defense, says she was asking him about Elisa and Dam. Augie follows her lead, gets a bit irritated and says Kenya has no right to meddle in my daughter’s business… all but orders Kenya to leave that matter alone… Augie leaves. Gael stares at Kenya  suspicious.

Ramona keeps putting the puzzle together...
Back at Dr Tovar… Paloma says Augie was such a two-faced jerk… he was acting so offended about Stefie’s death but he was already sleeping with her sister (hold the presses!! Wasn’t Paloma only 9 or 10 years old? She seems to have a great memory then)…
Ramona is mad at her
-Don’t talk to anyone about this.
Ramona takes a few steps away.
Paloma tells Ramona that she and Gael are dating..
We see that Ramona feels herself out of breath…
-Did you hear me? …
-yes, we will talk later…
Ramona leaves, Paloma mumbles: I have a strange grandma.

Kenya took the cookie from the cookie jar! Couldn't be!
At Casa Castigo kitchen, Elsa tells Lolita that Kenya and dad have something going on. Lolita laughs at the thought. That is crazy! Sorry but your aunt comes up with some stories! Elisa had asked Kenya and Kenya assured her there was nothing between them. Lolita says Tangel-Ho is crazy to confront Kenya. Elisa is sorry for TangelHo, dad has never loved her. Lolita wonders how Augie has tolerated her so long. Elisa is wondering how true is the Kenya story. Lolita says Tagel-Ho would lever allow it. Elisa is sure that the only woman her dad has loved and will ever loved is her mom. Lolita agrees with Elisa.

Don't worry Brau, i will teach Chente some toughness... but neither of us has figured he is a chip off the old block

Dam/Braulio at procesa… Dam tells Bra Chente will work in afternoon with the condition he will study in the mornings.  Braulio surprised Chente agreed. You all owe my mom the favor. Brau was concerned while Chente was Gab’s assistant. Btw, Gab won’t leave. He still has my mom’s support. Brau content with seeing Chente away from Gab.
Meanwhile we see Gab and Chente buddying up. Gab laughs that Chente will get his salary cut in half. Chente wanted to work for Gab, not Dam. And the worst is will have to go back to school. Give me a hand.  Gab refuses, … welllll…. unless you want to win money working for me, unofficially… very quietly.
Those two share a sneaky smirk smile…

Alfie has found a new target to whine at and talk down to... will Guido take this for long? Isn't he a bit old to allow her to manipulate him?
At hacienda, Alfie is reprimanding Guido for talking to Augie… you are worrying about those folks too much. Guido sorry for what Paolo could be doing to them, Alfie asks what if Paolo is telling the truth? It is those women and their reputation. Guido says besides Tangel-Ho what he is worried is what could happen to Paolo, what Elmer Fudd could do to him. Remember what happened with Dam. Yup, that is true. Augie has always been violent… angry Paolo comes in, confronts Alfie about firing him from procesa.  Guido defends Alfie. Paolo yells at him: if you think you will make me go back to Mex, you are wrong, I will go back whenever I feel like it!
Alfie stops Guido from following Paolo.

Advance confession... what a concept!...I am about to do something REALLY explosive that will open a HUGE old can of worms!...
At church, Ramona goes to see padre… reminds him what she had talked to him righ after Stefie’s death, reminds him at the time she thought Stefie was riding in Rosie’s car by mistake. (poor padre is in such a tough spot here… but he hides it very well) Padre confirms he remembers that. Ramona says ‘then I came to ask for advanced forgiveness(what a concept!!), what I will do now is serious. I am about to unmask the real woman who should have been in that car. I will talk to Augie to tell him who was really Rosie’s lover… I will tell him it was his own wife, Carmina Bouvier.
… Credits roll…

Previews:
Augie: SHUT UP Carmina!!
Carm: (in front of Elisa) Didn’t I catch you kissing Kenya?
Flo and Dam plan wedding…
Seems Kenya arranges a meeting with Dam… but is she really arranging a meeting of Dam and Elisa?

  2. Thanks, Marta. Good one!

Assgusto did the right thing for the wrong reason. I do not want to see Assgusto boinking Kenia. That would be beyond my tolerance level.

When will Doc Tovar call for duplicates of those blood tests?

TangelHo is skating on very thin ice. Is Elisa finally fighting back?

  3. Thank you Marta, for writing your usual excellent recap, in record time. I loved this line:

    "too many chiefs, indians confused".

I am still laughing. I think that describes the whole scene over at La Anita.

-Who's on first? No, he's on second.-

I sure wouldn't want to be caught between Damian and Alfonsina. They are being completely unfair to their employees. Dam doesn't mind contradicting his mother's orders but he is not in her LEAGUE as far as manipulations go.

Speaking of Damian, I just am not buying the instant redux with Dam/Flo. Too soon. Too sashimi. I prefer my ahi seared with a little FIRE on the outside.

I thought Gael and Paloma were cute today, especially his little gesture of the finger to her cheek as he said goodbye. Now, that stopped my heart. Tacher is still tops on my list. I still can't get the People photograph out of my mind.

Responding to Carlos yesterday, I like Doc Tovar too. I hope he order dups of the blood tests and keeps working on his marriage with Begonia. She's giving it the old college try.

Carmina might just get dangerous if she thinks Kenia is a real threat. I wish we knew when she turned 18.

UA, could not agree more. Right thing for the wrong reason. Really could not look if they went with an Augusto/Kenia pairing. I would need an airsick bag by the sofa.

Marta, I do not know that song...

  4. Great recap Marta. I only got to see the first half of the show last night, and your detail filled in everything for me. Don't even feel like I need to watch online later.

The slap heard round the world was pretty good. I'd say so far our main squeeze is taking the lead on ratings.

I so wish Ramona would spill the beans, but I also worry for her. Never good to know too much in a TN unless you're a priest. Carmina is going to get dangerous... too many turths coming out and she's going to need to lash out at someone. Questions will be who?

  9. Marta, you have complete Spanish comprehension don't you! We needed you on this episode. As we've said before, some actors are very hard to understand as they  chew up the words and spit them out!  Your recap was very informative AND funny! A couple of my favorites: (Elisa) "you  know I don’t care about the latest cover story of the Ermita enquirer" funny! Also:   "Advance confession... what a  concept." That is an usual concept and maybe a smart one!

Ramona, why are you holding back? Stephe was one of the few who was kind to Paloma, the little girl selling bread in the street!  You should step up to the plate for Stephe, no one has truly been in her corner from day one, too bad.

Alfie should get all her internado money back, Dam can't analyze anything! Like  EJ's 2004 computer, he strains and strains to put both the rare blood types and Elisa's 180 degree change in some type of order. He all but grunts as he thinks about it all!

A couple steps forward with Augusto today, I'm sure he'll take the required  novela four steps back tomorrow!

Yes! Our Silver Fox, Guido, " shouldn't be in the novel" he is too smart and reasonable!!!! If Alfie gets him in the end, I'm going to be furious!

What was with the CCs last night, multi-colors, underlined, strange letters from other languages, numbers and caps within a word.......never saw such a thing! Doris, did you watch the episode on Comcast last night?

  10. Marta: This was an exciting episode and you captured it with your usual flair. This was excellent.

"Barbie, haven't you heard you should think about it before you sign on the dotted line?" had me chuckling out loud. "He understands his place is with a woman like me, not with the daughter of the woman who killed his father!... -(Slap!) This is so you won’t talk to me like that ever again. (Slap!) And this is so you don’t mess with my mother again! Talk to the hand" was simply great.

I too was surprised that Gael showed up at Paloma's workplace! It will be interesting to see if he can truly channel his lifelong feelings of friendship into romantic ones. Will Paloma's infectious love be enough for both of them?

Everybody loves Ramona. She was brillant at the gravesite, knowing Augusto will be groveling in the end. I can't believe he had never been to the grave before. Ack. And then Ramona's brillant deduction that the "other" woman was Carmina was icing on the cake.

Kenia seemed desperate to change Augusto's mind. I'm perplexed. Why? Aside from his good looks and charming personality, what could the (any) attraction possibly be?

Elna June: ITA with "I just am not buying the instant redux with Dam/Flo. Too soon". Exactly.

    Thanks Marta! Diana

  11. Marta- Thank you for yet another wonderful recap.

I really enjoyed that double slap Elisa dole out to Flor. It was even better when Alfie told Flor to suck it up and quit whining about it. Myabe she was remembering that slap Elisa gave her all those episodes back that left her with a bloody mouth. Both Flor and Alfie now know to stand 10 feet away from Elisa if they intend to insult her mama.

Kenia, Kenia, Kenia. I think she's looking for a father figure. I hope Gael figures out what's going on and is able to talk some sense into his little sis.

Gael's giving it the old college try with Paloma, and not just half-heartedly like Dam with Flor. I was also happy to see him drop by Pal's work for a midday visit and invitation out to eat. I was more shocked that Pal didn't just drop her work and do it. Guess she actually heard what Doc Tovar was saying to her.

Both Damian and Gael should have figured out by now that they are brothers. They have both heard that Gael's dad was someone important in town; both have heard that the dad is dead; both have seen strained interactions between Alfie and Ingrid; both know how much Alfie has always hated Gael; and both know they have the same rare blood type. Actually, since Gael is the one who's actively trying to find out who his dad is, he's the one who should be collecting info and connecting dots.

But Dam is being stupid about not figuring out what the true price of Alfie's loan to Elisa was.

I still can't figure out why Ramona has kept mum for so long about what she knows and suspects. Of course, now that she's announced that she's going to tell the truth (like Blanca), I'm worried about her.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Add me to the fan list for "Too many cheifs, indians confused." I think the mother/son power struggle is going to be interesting to see (That is if Dam actually struggles, so far he's been a bit passive.)

So Elisa grew a pair last night. Guess that means she'll be sniveling for the next two nights (as that seems to be her pattern.)

I really hope Ramona makes it to the end. Who knows what?

    Hmmm. Let's see
Doc: Knows Cheat-ho was pregnant long before she married Sr. Cat Food., but not who the baby daddy was.

Ramona: Knows Steffie "had to stop them" and that Carmina was Rosendo's HO.

Padre: Knows Carmina was Rosendo's HO

Gab: Knows Carmina was Rosendo's HO and knows Gael is Rosendo's Son/Dam's half bro. Knows Carmina faked blood tests.

Kenia: Knows who Gael's daddy is. What else does she know? I seem to remember she knows more.

ING: knows Rosendo is Gael's daddy.

Carmina: knows Horacio killed Blanca at Gab's request; knows Assgu has the hots for Kenia.

I'm terrible at lists. Can't wait for one of Anon207's lists. :-)

  13. SandyinTN: Yes! Dam Stoopid is just like the 2004 computer. Last night I was in front of the TV saying "c'mon hon. You can do it...just a liiitle more thinking....ARGH!" Someone needs to double slap HIM!

    Speaking of slaps: That.was.awesome.

Oh, and please me put me on the "too soon Dam/Flo" list.

sorry bud but you are no MT. no matter how much you try. period.

  15. Doc also knows Carmina has been messing with the blood tests of Augie and then Dam/Elisa... so he knows Carmina is hiding something... but she has been good at confusing him of whether she does not want the town to know Elisa is or is not Augie's daughter and/or Dam's sister... so he knows she is up to something but not quite what... he is another one who should be putting all the facts on table and building the puzzle.

  17. Where do captions come from, anyway? I mean, are they specific to a program, the network, or is there an independent source? Because mine have been all over the map lately -- full of mistranslations and misspelled words (which is hard to do in Spanish) and other kinds of weird stuff. It makes things very hard to follow when you're listening, reading, and editing all at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Blue Lass: as soon as Ramona said what she was going to do I heard the clang of the anvil. Of course, Kenia is still holding strong...so maybe there is hope.

Ya'll must now have the some company that is doing my Spanish CCs. I would much prefer to use Spanish CCs but stuff like

    toyad o %* yiendo d

    For
Estoy harto de todo y no entiendo nada

    doesn't help much.

(PS: somewhat fictionalized example but an honest approximation.)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Carlos has worked hard to get the captions better and for a while, I thought they had improved, but not last night! It wouldn't matter so much, but many of the actors in this novela don't E N U N C I A T E!

  20. "Doc also knows Carmina has been messing with the blood tests of Augie and then Dam/Elisa"

"he is another one who should be putting all the facts on table and building the puzzle.

We need to drag Padre, Doc, Ramona and Don Lucio to the cantina and get them talking/comparing notes.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh, Sandy...glad you mentioned Carlos.

To all our medical professionals: I would like an assessment of Dam's cane. It seemed too short to me. I know, stupid and nit-picky, but I noticed it and it annoyed me. Of course, I know nothing about the proper use of a cane unless tap dancing is involved.

    ReplyDelete
  22. So what is your guess at the character who steps forward and yells 'THE BUCK STOPS HERE!!'
my money is on Ramona or Lucio... and Doc would throw in his two bits of info or confirm Ramona's info.
still don't think Augie will be able to handle it... mostly for what Ramona told him at cemetery, 'you won't be able to handle the remorse, having to appologize to your dead wife and to your daughter...'

    ReplyDelete
  23. "my money is on Ramona or Lucio...
    ---
Ditto. I hope it's a huge blow up, too! All public and screaming like.

But in my thirst for vengeance I wonder what Augie's reaction will do to Elisa. She does love him and she doesn't strike me as the type to rub it in. Will she gain one parent (since Steffie's rep will be redeemed) only to lose another (Augie will be Cat Food to everyone and though he has been awful to her, she still loves him/wants his love.)

What's that line from Gone With the Wind?
"Apparently any mother, even a bad one, is better for a child than none."
Just change it to FATHER. This line has been running through my head for weeks.

  24. Marta, sorry to comment so late but I was have problems posting to blogger last night and by the time I was able to get the paragraph breaks to stay in place I was too pooped to say anything that made sense.

Anyway, GREAT recap! I really appreciate all the fantastic detail, especially from this mumble-mouthed group of actors (except for Lucio).

I was surprised by the doble cachetada from Elisa. Bonus! I agree, she is in first place in the slap fest. Flo looked so shocked; clearly she's not used to being called on her snotty remarks.

Oh dear, now I am worried for Ramona. Haven't our characters learned that a partial reveal is practically a death sentence?

Did y'all catch the way Lucio was eyeballing Maru at the Proce? Hopefully he will ask her out for a date or something.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Shouldn't we direct some of our vengeance vibes toward the perps, Carmina, the mentirosa who caused it all and Gabino, her compadre in crime? Carmina has destroyed the reputation of her SISTER because she was jealous of her material possessions. When she used to talk to Steph, she would cast her eyes about and say, "You have ALL THIS." Her "Augusto is the love of my live" line is just a bunch of poopy (under the influence of 5 and 7 year old bathroom humor this summer!) Ole Carmina needs to go to a nunnery for the rest of her life! Maybe the good sisters can turn her around!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Carmina needs to be thrown down that falls that we saw at 'Zorro' and let the indians pull her medusa hair off her head one follicle at a time... noone will hear her scream other than those savages... then she can be thrown to the piranhas for the finale.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh I definitely want a HUGE pile of Karmageddon dumped on her orange butt! It needs to be painful and horrific.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Marta, hee, you always sound so sweet but your Orangina demise is spine-tingling. I think we are all in agreement with Sara that it must be horrific. I don't think Carmina can be turned around. She is such a rotten apple there are no good parts to salvage.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks Marta, This is sooo excellent. Your translations are impeccable and I know that you got no help from the CCs.

Of course the double slap was last night's highlight. Perfectly timed. I was duly impressed.

Sandy, today I sent a complaint to my Univision contact here in Houston. It really did seem to help before. We'll see in a few days.

Proud of Augusto last night but worried about the avances.

  31. marta - Thank you for the recap. I can't wait to watch my recording of this episode. Lots of stuff happened, and the plot keeps plowing forward. ;o)

If Ramona dies before she outs Carmina, I will be reeeally enojada!

Sandy in TN - We're on AT&T U-Verse now, and no more Comcast. I don't have the CCs engaged, so I have no idea how they are on AT&T U-v. I think the CCs come from the network and not the cable provider.

  32. I don't think Carmina can be turned around either! I'm just trying to sound calm and level headed, which I'm not!  I think she deserves a date with her maker!

The procesadora is top heavy management wise. They seem to hire anyone who needs a job yet there is so little product that leaves the fabrica!

  33. I didn't learn too much last night because I was watching DALLAS, lol.

  34. "Aside from his good looks and charming personality, what could the (any) attraction possibly be?"

Even as a father figure he isn't exactly coming up aces. Poor girl. she may be barking up a tree that is going to wind up coming down on her. TIMBER!!

The fact that Rmaona is letting Padre know she's going to finally do her tell-all version of events, could it be, and I don't remember, that Padre may have asked her to keep quiet all this time? There really was nothing holding her back from spilling at the very beginning, and as much as I love her, that aspect of the secret keeping has always bugged me.

I say Creamsicle will never be a redeemable character. If anything, she's going to get worse, and like I conjectured the other day, she will be the one out of the eveil trio ( her, II and Alfi) to actually cross the line to offing someone. Her candidate list is growing. Right now, I think it's either going to be Paolo or Kenia, but I worry for Ramona too. (Though Creamsicle doesn't know exactly what Ramona knows does she?)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anon207- How was Dallas? I came to the U.S. in 1980 when that show just broke on the scene. My family loved it. What a great introduction to American culture for us. :) My parents even let me stay up late enough to watch it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think Ramona kept quiet in the beginning because with the 'reputation' as 'curandera', half the town considered her nuttsy anyway and noone would believe her.
now she has gathered some facts and circumstantial evidence, now she has a solid document evidence of Carmina's affair with Rosie... with the pregnancy date mismatch. Now she considers she has enough facts/pieces lined up that SOMEONE will pay attention to what she is saying... and she doesn't even know about the whole ordeal with the pearl silver heart necklace story.
Padre also knows Nina told him she was going to tell all right before she was murdered and he can tell that to people without breaking any confession secret/ties. the problem is all he can say is that Nina said she was going to open some eyes and things would change from here on out... that's all she really said.
However, putting that together with Maru seeing Nina leave the procesa the afternoon of the earlier day so upset/anxious might add to it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Vivi, Dallas as intro to american culture??? ... lol i don't now about that... but guess it is an extreme explanation of the word 'capitalism/ambition'

    ReplyDelete
  38. Carlos, thank you. yes, i don't even turn the CC on, they confuse me more than help me...
I am doing the best I can from hotel without the recorder... so i tell my kids not to interrupt me while i warp-speed-type obsessively during the show (dont get the west coast channel either so no second chances to go back to) and then edit the heck out of it aftewards.

    ReplyDelete
  39. OMG Marta, you mean you did this recap in real time? Holy cow!! I am super impressed. The detail is amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Loved the recap, Marta! Gracias!

As for the episode, that double slap carried me all the way to the end. (What was that about Slap Bingo yesterday?)

I particularly enjoyed your treatment of Ramona's request for absolution in advance -- kind of like one of the scuzzballs on Law & Order asking for immunity from prosecution. So is the deity like the DA or what?

Don't mean to obsess but am I the only one whose antennae tingled when Gabino and Ingrid concluded on Tuesday that Alfonsina was standing between them (i.e. Gael) and a share of the Arango fortune? I expect at least an attempt on Alfie's life (maybe another little jobbie-pooh for Horacio, the loveable Hitman)...

    ReplyDelete
  41. Novela Maven, my antennae tingled in excitement. "Kill her!!" I yelled at them. Do you think they heard me?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Sure, why not? But all the top buttons are missing from her shirts so ask Lolita to sew them back on, unless you are going for "that" particular look.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Totally wonderful recap, Marta!
Oh how I enjoy reading the recaps and the commentary that follows.
As much as I HATE the "love" angle between Cat Food and Kenia, I really hate the angle between Horacio and Lolita. It seems a bit absent in the past few episodes so I really hope it peters out. Please someone "out" him as the murderer of Sweet Blanca before Dulce Lolita really gets hurt.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I've decided Creamsicle is nuts and I always find that scary than plain ol' manipulation.

Being dense like I am and completely incapable of figuring out where TNs are gonna go, I didn't even bat an eye when Gab mentioned Alf getting in the way. Now that it's pointed out to me I also vote "Kill her!" (or at least try to.)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Killing Alfie would be too easy of an out for her, she wouldn't even know she was DEAD WRONG all these years, like Nina started warning her. She has to find out the truth and show some kind of blood relation to her gold hearted brother Loopy... Don't want to have Loopy have to pray for her soul to be forgiven because she did not get a chance to find out the truth, and begin to revert the damage she caused all these years.

    ReplyDelete
  46. but an attempt (either failed but scaring the living daylights out of her, or partial like wounding her but not critically) would be a good wakeup call.

  47. Anon207 - I quit watching Dallas when Bobby came back, alive, and it was all a very bad dream that J.R. had. (I had no telenovela beanie hat, back then.)

Vivi in DC - Gah, if Dallas was your class on U.S. culture. Sort of like telenovelas being our class on Latino culture, eh? ;-P

Ramona doesn't seem too happy about Gael & Paloma as an item. Never has. It makes me wonder who is Paloma's father. We've guessed it's Gabino, and we're pretty sure he is responsible for the death of P's mother, but . . . could it be Rosendo?

Maybe Paolo should have shown up at Carmina's, wearing a 'wife-beater' undershirt, and yelling "STELLA!" ... er... "CARMINA!"
    from the street.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Vivi in DC --

Dallas was great! Same theme song, similar opening credits. When JR woke up after hearing his son whine about Bobby selling Southfork, the show was on and poppin'! (JR's been in an unresponsive state for the past 10-12 years in a nursing home)

I saw bits and pieces of Abismo during the DALLAS commercial breaks. I did get to see Elisa slap Flor, and Ramona tell Augusto he's gonna feel like crap once it all comes out but that's about it.

I feel like the story needs to pick up and something needs to happen. Right now everything is at a stand still.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Thanks Anon207. Maybe I'll put it on my dvr recording list.

Dallas and Mr. Rogers are the only two shows I remember from that time when we first came to the U.S. The two shows could not be a more different intro to U.S. culture, and I loved them both. :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Where did you move from, Vivi?

    ReplyDelete
  51. I remember the very first ep of Dallas, Bobby arriving at SF with 'a wife!!'... boy was the family shocked!... and then caused her to lose her baby and it all got nasty after that... then i had to go off to college and lost track. I liked the spin-off Knots Landing too.

    ReplyDelete
  52. i remember i started watching it because Patrick Duffy had been 'the man from Atlantis' and i was obsessed with that series.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Marta: Excellent points. Tell her the truth....then kill her (or try to.) Thank you for being the voice of reason.

Doris: IRT Paloma's paternity--hmmm, something to think about. And I love your re-writing of the scene. Wife beater and CARMINA! would have been a hoot!

    ReplyDelete
  54. "Stellaaaaaa!" always works on me. :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Great list of who knows what, Sara.

Marta, I have been thinking and now I am really worried about Ramona. Man, Carmina better leave her alone. I LOVE RAMONA, even if she does sound a bit like the Yucatan version of the Delphic oracle.

Vivi, ITA that Gael and Damian should have figured out that they are brothers. Honestly, Elisa is stoopid but the writers are doing Dam no favors here either. Maybe if the boys start talking again they will reach the obvious conclusion.

This fake separation of Dam/Elisa is so absurd. They haven't even talked since their almost marriage.

Aren't we so lucky so have people who are so dedicated and good at our little telenovela hobby? Wow!
I am so glad for each and every member of our recapping teams.

EJ, i was born in Puerto Rico so spanish is my first language... i learned english watching american TV series and game shows in english between ages of 9 and 18 (so i could understand it but could not speak it much until i went to upstate NY college and HAD to communicate so learned to speak it well then). took a semester of typing in high school which has come in REALLY handy at college and beyond.
finishing up my CS'93 dialogues translation to english, have 3 eps (out of 80) worth to do left.
as far as the hotel, we have been at hotel since the 1st of the month so we could get all the furniture out of the house, replace the carpet and clean it to sell it. so will stay in area hotel until the wknd before July 4. then will drive to FL for good. hopefully.
one daughter in japan until the 26th so now have a little bit more space in hotel room.

Wow. What an intro to American culture!

  60. Well, EJ, I can only fit into the clothes of the...unenhanced actresses, which are few and far between. :)

  61. Vivi - I adore Mr. Rogers Neighborhood and loved watching it with our son, when he was little. Heck, I even watched it when our son was older and had no more interest in it. Such a calming show.
Later in life, I recommended it to my adult ESL students because everyone talked slowly and clearly.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Marta thanks for your recap. Like Sylvia I'm floored that you type this in real-time. WOW!

UA - I hope Elisa is finally fighting back but you know TNs - one day the hero/heroine has a spine that next day, its gone.

    The double slap was great!!

NM and Sylvia - yes, II and Gab seem to be planning a murder. But as Marta noted, Fina can't die quickly. She's pulled SO MUCH CRAP she has to see how evil she has been. And the whole town needs to find out as well. Being shunned by everyone would be appropriate along with Dam cutting off contact.

Anon207 and Vivi - thanks for mentioning Dallas I forgot it was on but thankfully TNT plays stuff many times.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Y'all are right, I guess Fina really can't be killed before she suffers some. I think it is very interesting that Gabino, her lap dog, has found a more interesting lap and might be considering a double cross on Fina.

The biggest shame for Fina would be to find out that her irrational hate for Estefania has no basis in fact. Her holier-than-thou act would not carry much weight after that.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I don't think Ramona likes the Gael/Paloma pairing because Paloma is throwing herself at someone who just isn't that into her and she doesn't want to see Paloma get hurt.

I suspect Paloma's mom probably threw herself at Gabino, too.

Ramona knows that Gael is a stand up, good guy but ever since she's known him as a child, he's only had eyes for Elisa. She may be afraid that since Paloma threw herself sexually at Gael, that THIS may be the reason Gael is coming around to Paloma, not because he truly likes her.

  66. The biggest shame for Fina would be to find out that her irrational hate for Estefania has no basis in fact. Her holier-than-thou act would not carry much weight after that.
ITA, especially it would put all her schemes, isolating Dam, lies, buying people off to keep them from talking... all pop out to the surface, where she could no longer use the 'yeah i haven't been the cleanest player (tactics wise) but compared to that slut Estefania, it is nothing'.

Anon, i also think Ramona is afraid Gael is giving himself a chance with Paloma out of spite for having had Dam take Elisa from him, and that in the end Gael/Paloma would just not work out and Paloma would be the one hurt by all this.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Oh yeah, the AlphaBitch can't be killed as long as she's pulling the Plot Sled. [which I just realized is a homophone of plotz-led. hmmm] I wouldn't, however, be surprised by a bungled attempt that claims an innocent or inconvenient victim (Paolo? Begoña? Antonia? Kenia?)

So yes, Blue Lass, too soon to be bidding on the clothes. (Though put me down for the jewelry and accessories. BTW, does anyone know how to sew in elastic panels?)

I believe in Magic ... Realism. So I think Ramona is yes, intuitive and smart but also KNOWS how things will go even if she is powerless to stop them.

I believe this is a novela in the classic tragic form in which everyone suffers for years. Instead of calling it "The Passion Pit", we could call it "This Vale of Tears."

Having said that, I think Ramona KNOWS that Gael is going to ditch Paloma when Elisa shifts her cleavage in his direction.

I also think that Dam Stoopid is going to marry his mother, that is, Florencia.

That is, I can see the Gael/Elisa and Dam/Flor couplings as a repeat of their parents' history.

The Orange One? She might be unmasked but continue to hover and do evil.

Disclaimer: I am almost always wrong. I have a very very bad track record at predicting novela plots. I'm much better at plotzing over novelas.

    ReplyDelete
  68. NM, I love jewelry but rarely wear it, so I will enjoy looking at Fina's baubles on you. You can have the high-heeled boots, too.

    ReplyDelete
  70. sewing in elastic panels... by hand or by machine?
well, the idea is still same... you stretch the elastic panel and sew it in stretched out to the normal laid out fabric, so when you release the two sewn together, the elastic panel shrinks back in and whala!! you have a 'stretch' hem/panel/section.
if you really want to be fancy you can unsew the fold in the fabric and sew the stretched out panel inside of it... a little more troublesome.

  71. What has me up at nights,(ha) is, who do we have for Lolita after she dumps Horacio? If it is Braulio, what happens to Tonia? Lolita is by the best gal in La Ermita. She’s pretty, smart, good hearted, astute, loyal, insightful, hardworking, perceptive, DRIED EYED and every other glowing adjective you can think of...and most of all, I love her braids and traditional dress. She HAS to be happy and with a novio in the end! (I’m wishing her a novio, only because I think she really wants one!)

Alfie is so darn smug........ I HATE smug!

Someone needs to snap up Alfie’s best friend, Guido. He is certainly a breath of fresh air in La Ermita and doesn’t seem to mind the company of a “woman of a certain age!” (Please note that I didn't use that horrible word cougar!)

Marta, you might be the most useful person on the planet! WOW!

    ReplyDelete
  72. "Marta, you might be the most useful person on the planet! WOW!"

    Ditto!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Sandy in TN, IMO Antonia is way too inconvenient, therefore she is toast. (Apologies to those of you who have stood up for Antonia.)

    I have dibs on Guido.

Marta is also an excellent cook, so clearly she IS the most useful person on the planet.

    ReplyDelete
  74. If Alfie would TRULY reform, not die, but give her jewels and clothes and boots to those in need, in this case the ever deserving Blue Lass and Novela Maven, two really fine recappers, then I am willing to plot her a plan of repentance.

I believe Sister Alfonsina could dedicate herself to the stylistic improvements of the various orders of nuns in the church. Just think of the contributions she could make! With her impeccable sense of style, perhaps she could make thousands of teaching sisters cool again! I'll just bet The Magdalene was a good dresser. She is so imperious, what abbess or head of order would dare turn her down?

Alright, kids, I am starting the reform Alfie table. Anyone who can dress that well in the heat of the Yucatan must have great strength of character. We know her grudge-holding skills are peerless. If folks can believe in Augusto then there is hope for Alfie.

But only if she gives away her clothes and jewels.

    EJ

    ReplyDelete
  75. EJ, one itsy bitsy, tiny weeny, speck of a fly in your usually reasonable ointment, Alfie has never been good.....Augusto was a good husband, good father and good neighbor in the beginning of our beloved Passion Pit! Alfie has always been a *witch.* There is a (hidden) mustard seed of goodness in him, there is an (obvious) amaryllis bulb of badness in her!

What kind of drinks are you serving?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Once again, I find myself echoing Sandy's sentiments, at least in part.

EJ, part A of the plan is brilliant (you know, where BL & NM get all the stuff) but Part B not so much. Alfie doesn't cleanse her sins through suffering if she still gets to boss around a bunch of nuns. (And lord help the nuns!) Manipulation and control are heaven to her and hell to those who are her puppets.

Figure out a way for Alfie to be HUMBLED, for her to acknowledge that those humanoid props around her are actually OTHER HUMAN BEINGS, and then we can talk tables.

But what kind of drinks ARE you serving?

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'm afraid I must agree. Fina is just horrid and was from episode #1.

As for clothing: I am in love with the stylings of Marcaria and Marianna Karr on Amorcito.

Your logic is irrefutable. Sigh. But the chance to live out a childhood fantasy through the MOST efficient Black Widow gave me an unnatural enthusiasm for the project.

I was thinking Mojitos. My daughters have got me started on them and I am all but addicted to the flavor combo. You know the nuns need the help, Sandy, seriously.

  83. Oy Marta..here it is 6:30 pm and I'm just now getting to your unbelievable recap and these hilarious comments. Not only is "Too many chiefs, indians confused" great..it should be on the sidebar.

And darnit, bilingual, speed typist, able to function from the hotel without committing homicide or suicide after days and days lodged there-- Getting a house ready for sale and able to sew, alter clothes, and cook up a mess of fabulous food. You're the perfect mujer! Hope your family appreciates you. I know we sure do.

Like others I was a fan of the double slap (BIG FAN) and was quite taken with Gael and Paloma. So tender. So sweet. I WANT THIS TO WORK. And I loved how he did his Big Brother thingee and defended Kenia (even if she didn't want it, the idiota). At first I didn't go for the plaid shirts, hairy chin and straw hat, but I am totally smitten now. Gael Gael Gael!

Thanks Marta. And I hope you get a whopping big price for the house you're selling and live happily ever after in Florida. You deserve the best.

  84. EJ, “Yes, it is true. I want to boss the nuns around. I want them to have pedicures. I want them to have habits that are cool in the summer and warm in the winter.” If your Irish relatives get wind of this, not living on Southfork will be a minor transgression!!
