Rosa’s Guilt Does Not Make Her a Better Person/Luci’s Origins Become Less Murky
-Rosa confesses to Padre Honesto that she gave away Claudio
and Aurora’s daughter, without consulting Claudio, and now she can’t tell him
the truth. Yet, she keeps whining about the guilt she feels. Padre gets majorly
frustrated and ticked off at her and tells her she had no right to do what she
did. If she won’t come clean to Claudio, well that’s just on her conscience. He later tells her he can’t help her further
and she best see a shrink.
-Rosa tells the Padre that she knows the baby was not
Claudio’s, and that’s one reason why she can’t bring herself to tell him the
whole truth about the child. She admits to the Padre that the only other people
who know what she did with the baby are Connie and Mati.
-After finding Hannah, Melissa, and Luci in the library with
Lorenzo, who’s using the phone to call his new boss at Inferno, Rosa blows her
stack and majorly reams Luci out for letting her insignificant relatives into
the house. Hannah and Melissa are absolutely shocked. The only other time
Hannah has seen her mother act this way was the first day Luci came into the
house. The two girls tell Pato what happened. He’s just as flabbergasted and
perplexed by his mother’s behavior towards Luci.
-Luci wonders why the heck Rosa hates her so much.
-Rosa meets with Connie and asks for her help in finding the
little girl. To do that, she needs to find the gardeners, Galdino and Paz!
-Back at Casa Torreslanda, Pato is asking Luci if she
finished high school/secondary school. She just had one exam to go, but then
her dad died and all this other bad stuff happened, so she didn’t get to take
it. Pato offers to help her register for and take the exam. Then he asks her to
tell him more about her mother and father. Mati has come into Pato's room with fresh towels. She drops the towels and nearly faints when she hears Luci say
her parents are Paz and Galdino Jacinto Flores. Mati immediately knows that
Luci is the daughter of Claudio and Aurora Linares!
-Luci helps Mati to her room, and Mati pumps Luci for more
information about her parents and childhood. She seems especially concerned
about whether Luci had a happy childhood. Luci only has good things to say
about her parents. She tells Mati about her father's dying words/wish, for Luci to find Rosa Torres...
Everyone’s Talking
About and Visiting El Inferno
-Aldo is keen to go see Lorenzo and hang out at El Inferno,
which is one of the hot clubs at the moment. Hannah wants to go too, which
causes Rosa to have a fit and yell at everyone. Max takes Aldo aside privately
to warn him not to go to a place like that or to take Hannah there. I’m sure
every Torreslanda and relative will have hung out at Inferno by the end of this
tn.
-Lorenzo gets a job at Inferno.
-Don Aquiles shows up at El Inferno, totally by coincidence,
and does not understand the concept of valet (he thinks the guy is saying
ballet) parking.
-Lastra and Ivan can tell from a mile away that Aquiles is a
hick from the sticks with lots of money. They want to relieve him of that money,
so they serve him the best and most expensive mezcal, introduce him to the
private salon in the back with the gambling, Lastra exchanges cards with him
and invites him back whenever he is next in D.F. , and they get their best
girl, Coral/Violeta to serve him. He doesn’t recognize Violeta, but appreciates
her assets, but she recognizes him.
-Another regular customer is totally crushing on Violeta. He
wants to walk her home, but she tells him Polo’s already got that job. She
clarifies that Polo is not her boyfriend (poor guy) and she seems to like the customer too. She is not freaked out at all the next day when he just shows up at her
apartment building. Stalker!
-Seeing how much she attracts customers, Lastra wants
Violeta to start working in the private salon. Seems he’s thinking that she may
be willing to offer more than drinks and snacks to the customers. She tells him
her only *other* talent is singing. He agrees to try her out as a singer in the
private salon.
Emperor Max of Empresas Torreslanda
-Although everyone else, including Pato, and especially Rod, want to invest in the new business venture, Max puts his foot down and refuses to agree. Rod is pissed and wonders why Max has no faith in him. He's sure he must have even trusted his first business partner more, who cheated him. Oscar wonders if perhaps that's why Max has such a hard time trusting others.
-Oscar reports back to Max on Linares, who's determined to clear his name. Oscar doesn't see the harm. Since he's guilty he won't be able to prove his innocence. He's guilty, right? Max assures Oscar of Claudio's guilt and he wants him to stay on the case. Oscar confides in Connie about his unease over this whole Linares matter.
-Looks like Max may have some competition for Vicky's heart in the form of that lazy, walking disaster, Aldo. Aldo drops by the beauty salon to score some money off of Connie, and takes the opportunity to flirt with Vicky. He makes her smile.

Het Het
-Fabian tells Magda and Paz that Ariche is so depressed
about Luci being gone that he’s even stopped putting an effort into his school
work. Fabian brings him around to Magda’s so that she and Paz can love him up.
He just wants to know if Luci is coming back.
-Magda and Paz call Lorenzo and tell him Don Aquiles is in
the city looking for them. They all need to be alert and careful.
-Paz finally asks Magda why she seems to know so darned much
about Don Aquiles. She admits that she was once involved with him, when she was
young and foolish, but then she realized what kind of man he is.
-Don Aquiles gets a flat tire on his way back to Chihuahua.
A perfect end to his unsuccessful trip to the big city.
Love Quadrangle 1:
Lalu-Boris-Hannah-Lorenzo
-Boris is blowing up Hannah’s phone night and day trying to
convince her to give him a chance.
-Both Lalu and Boris want to drop out of their school group
project- Lalu because she can’t bear to be near Boris if she can’t have him;
Boris because he can’t bear to be near Hannah if he can’t have her.
-After he gets run over by a pizza delivery bike on his way
out of Casa Torreslanda (he was warning Luci about Aquiles), Lorenzo gets
rescued by Hannah and Melissa. Lorenzo and Hannah are hit by the love bug, big
time. The girls bring him inside to tend to his bumps and scrapes, and H &
L can’t take their eyes off each other. Too bad Rosa would lock Hannah up in a convent before she’d let her get involved with a poor, uneducated guy like Lorenzo, and
especially since he’s the brother of her favorite punching bag, Luci.
Love Quadrangle 2:
Pato-Luci-Rod-Gala
-Rod tells Gala that he can’t marry her because he realizes
that he doesn’t really know her. For example, he never knew she was such a
cruel person. When she presses for details, he keeps mum about what he learned
about her war against Luci. Gala points out that he’s the one cancelling the
wedding for no reason, and yet he’s calling HER cruel.
-Gala proceeds to yell in anger, whine, cry, beg on her
knees, and then threatens to take her own life. Rod can only beg her not to do
anything crazy and tells her they will talk the next day when they are both
calm.
-Julie admits to a surprised Gala that they are in debt, and
she had to take a loan out on their NYC apartment, so Gala better do something
to get Mr. Torre$$landa back and down the aisle.
-Rod goes home and tells Pato that he doesn’t want to marry
Gala. Pato, being the most intelligent character in this tn, asks Rod if he had
the guts to tell Gala he can’t marry her because he’s in love with Luciana? Rod
is shocked that Pato knows, but Pato says it’s obvious. He asks Rod if he’s
spoken with Luci, and is not surprised that she wants Rod to leave her alone. Pato understands that Luci doesn’t want to
suffer, and warns Rod not to hurt her.
-Since he can’t fight his feelings for Luci, Rod decides to
move back to his apartment permanently, that night. When he gets there, and has
taken off his shirt in preparation for bed (thank you director/writers), Gala,
wearing nothing but a fur coat and her highest, black do-me heels, jumps his
bones. He does not resist. Well, he *does* weakly beg her to not do this to
him.
-The next morning, Gala is still playing seductress. She
must be really good, because Rod has been completely subdued back into a
cooperative bridegroom. Gala glosses over her Luci antics by pointing out that Rod
wouldn’t have be pleased had she been flirting with some guy, like he has been
with Luci. Rod doesn’t deny this. Looks like the wedding is on again.
-Later Rod feeds Pato dinner and Pato tells him what
happened that day when Rosa bit Luci’s head off about her brother. Rod wants to
see her and comfort her, but he’s keeping his promise about keeping his
distance. Well Pato wants to see her too, and nothing would happen if they are
both there.
-Luci hears a knock on her door late that evening. She is
shocked to find Rod at her door, holding Pato in his strong, manly arms.
Avances: Mati believes
that it’s God’s will that Claudio and Aurora’s child, Luci, was brought back to
them. She asks Rosa, “What would you do if the child showed up here?” Gala gets
ready for the big day, but overhears Rod say that he does not want to get
married.
Vivi, Vivi this is a wonderful full recap. You always do such a fantastic job, amiga. Oh, love Hot Rod Bod without his shirt, lol. They haven't shown him like that since his shower scene in the first epi. Boo hiss to Gala. I really can't stand her. At least Rod is staying away from Luci like he promised.
ReplyDeleteI think Rosa is losing her mind, slowly but surely. It would releive her mind if she just told Claudio what happened to his hija. But I think, he thinks she is dead. Poor Claudio has been put thru the ringer as bad as Luci. I think Max is guilty of the fraud and set Claudio up. Claudio doesn't strike me as a fraud.
Loving Pato, and your right, he is the smartest character in this TN. Hopefully he figures out was is going on with the Rosa hate Luci thing.
Like Mati, but she ought to come clean too. No wonder she has semi fainting spells.
Like Hanna and Melissa too. Wonderful girls and willing to help all the time.
Liked how Padre Honesto went off on Rosa. She ought to listen. I wonder what she would say to Paz and Galindo (even though we all know he died) if she found them?
Oh, and Aldo is growing on me too. He is rather funny and I do like him way better for Vicky than old shady Max.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your recap Vivi. Though Rod is still a sandy wonder, its great the writers had him ponder his wimpy sans his shirt.
ReplyDeleteYes Pato is great. I wonder what hopefully wonderful woman he will end up with? And Hanna and Melissa are gems too. I loved Lorenzo needed both of them to hobble into the house.
Since its early in the TN, I guess our inept galan marries tomorrow. Unfortunately, he'll probably return to his creepy behavior towards Luci.
Another wonderful recap Vivi. Your main and bullet titles were perfect. I always enjoy your tell it like it is style with a touch of humor: "Too bad Rosa would lock Hannah up in a convent before she’d let her get involved with a poor, uneducated guy like Lorenzo, and especially since he’s the brother of her favorite punching bag, Luci." Exactly.
ReplyDeleteI am really enjoying this. Gabe and Zuria are great leads and the supporting cast - stellar. I agree with you, Madelaine and Karen that Pato is great. And, I too am developing a soft spot for Aldo. I like the way he tried to get Lorenzo a job despite the fact he knew it wouldn't go over well.
And Rosa. The truth? She can't handle the truth.
Diana
Karen- I too hope that some wonderful woman, who loves him, comes into Pato's life. Melissa needs a galan too. Too bad she and Pato are related.
ReplyDeleteMadelaine- I agree with you and Padre that Rosa is losing her mind. I think the problem is that she feels guilty about three things:
1) Rosa lied about Aurora and Claudio's child dying. She gave the baby away out of spite, not because she was worried about the child growing up without a mother and with a jailbird dad. Mati and Connie seem to believe that Rosa had these noble intentions when she arranged for the baby give-away.
2) She treated Aurora horribly instead of caring for her, as Claudio believes. All because she believes Aurora had an affair with Max and was pregnant with his child. It doesn't seem that Mati and Connie know about this part of the story.
3) She knows that Max set Claudio up and that he was accused and imprisoned wrongly. It doesn't seem like anybody except Max and Rosa know this, although I suspect that Mati doesn't really believe that Claudio is a criminal.
If Claudio knew any of these three things about Rosa, he would hate her. Instead, he thinks she some sort of saint, who just happens to be married to a jerk.
Diana- Indeed, Rosa can't handle the truth. I think deep down she knows Luci is the child she gave away, she just doesn't want to admit it to herself. I really hope Mati tells her. Then we'll see if Rosa really wants to make amends. I think she'll treat Luci even worse once the truth is confirmed.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I'm going to be really disappointed in Mati if she doesn't at least tell Claudio that Luci is his daughter, and does it soon. The poor guy deserves some happiness. What could make him more happy than to know his child is alive, and that she's Luci? Mati already knows that Claudio cares for Luci deeply.
ReplyDeleteHi Vivi, thanks for the recap, I recently started taking a quick peek at the last hour of this series. In all of the novelas that I've seen Soto play a role he never comes off as an overly forceful character, in comparison to say Zepeda, whose stronger/forceful traits sometimes overtake the (tender?) characters that he is supposed to be playing. (Hope this make sense). Is Melissa the girl who was murdered in LQNPA?
ReplyDeleteYola.
Hi Yola. Yes, Tania Lizardo, Melissa here, played Maripaz in LQNPA.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to wait a bit to see what Gab Soto can do with this role. I've only seen him play the galan two other times-- In La Verdad Oculta, where he played the hot head galan pretty well, and in Querida Enemiga, where he was kind of wishy washy and ended up losing the heroine to Galan #2. That's the only time I've seen Galan #2 win the girl, and I was happy with that end. The other roles I've seen him in are the rival or bff of the galan. He plays those roles pretty well.
I am really impressed with Brando Peniche/Pato. He may not have the muscular physique or pretty boy features that will get him the lead galan, but he has a real ability to express a tenderness that I think would leave most female viewers swooning if he were allowed to woo a heroine properly.
Thanks Vivi, maybe I'll run into you one day in DC - Foggy Bottom/Pentagon City side. I love Soto but he never comes across as strong, even in a underststed way.
ReplyDeleteYola
Re Soto, remember how he was cast as the galan in LFdelD, but switched roles with David Zepeda at the suggestion of a focus group [I think]. I saw Soto interviewed on this, he said it made no difference to him, "chamba es chamba."
ReplyDeleteYes, Pato very expressive with his eyes/lips ... a la Jorge Salinas.
Thanks a lot Vivi and Madeleine for your recaps! I am liking this TN, despite the two hours and the beanie-requiring "coincidences."
Clara
Thanks Ypla and Vivi, I didn't know that Melissa was Maripaz in LKNPA. When women change their hair style--well you know what I mean, they look different.
ReplyDeleteI said it once before and have not changed my mind. Hot Bod Rod will marry that terrible Gala and leave sweet Luciana in tears. That's going to be hard to take, but untill Rod grows a pair, he seems to weak to say no. Gala has him right where she wants him and the Torreslanda wealth that comes with him.
the gringo
ITA gringo. Hot Bod Rod needs less muscles, and more boulders.
ReplyDeleteClara- I remember well that the producers bumped Gab S. to Galan #2 on Fuerza because of the focus group results.
This all leads me to wonder what it is that we want to see in a galan...
-intelligent
-level headed (although many people like it when the galan is a bit of a hot head)
-a sense of honor
-a sense of humor
-tender
-a seductive quality
-brave/gutsy
-expressive(eyes, mouth, hands)
-handsome
-charismatic
These qualities are both a mix of what the writers provide, and what the actor brings. It seems hard to strike gold with both.
It seems that actors these days must first fulfill the beefcake (muscles, washboard abs, pretty boy looks) requirement above everythig else, before they are considered for the lead galan role.
Ok Vivi, you left out "enjoys long walks on the beach." Soto has what I think is probably the salient quality, the indefinable charismatic presence, even tho his character is weak. Gala's toughness is really making him look lame! Maybe he'll surprise us later on. As you say it is the writing too because character has to fit the plot development, or lack thereof. I thought it was interesting last night when Rod seemed stronger at the business meeting.
ReplyDeleteSadly, your idea of physical requirements first seems to go for the female protagonistas too, or probably even more so.
Thanks otra vez for recaps/comments/analysis.
Clara
Vivi, VIVA, amiga. Always in top form. Got through this episode just before El Tal came on (have to see it grind down to a halt Friday).
ReplyDeleteThe love bug had been circling Lor and Han already at the Anniversary Celeb. After the choque he had time to bite both of them at the same time and they got to touch each other.
Rosa sure didn't let anyone get a word in edgewise or any other wise. No wonder Han & Mel went to complain to Pato. I think he's the only one who can influence mama--he's decidedly her favorite, quadriplegic or not. But she also let the two know that Pato was not going to make her change her mind about running Luci off next time she slips up. You could almost see it in Pato's face; he's planning another depression just for her benefit.
He's my favorite right now, too. We didn't get to see much of him as a robust rock climbing athletic young man, so we've come to focus on his face. Not bad, not bad at all. There's a certain serenity to it.
Vivi--as for what we want to see in a galan--as I read down your list, the ONLY character (in the pocas tns I've seen) that fits all your criteria is, Wait for It, Alejandro Lombardo in Sortilegio. Think about it.
Did you have any nominees?
Anita
Anita- In total agreement about Alex in Sortilegio. That tn had many flaws, but it had me melting every time Alex would playfully seduce MJ. That's a combination of the actor (WL) and the writing, because I did NOT feel the same way about his galan in Triunfo.
ReplyDeleteAs for other candidates for favorite galan…In addition to Alex in Sorti, I enjoyed: JM in STuD, Jero in CME (after he dropped the hating), Luis in Alborada, and Arturo in Teresa (when he wasn’t drinking). I also have a special place in my heart for bad boy Antolin in Fuerza. He wasn’t the galan or galan #2, but he had all the qualities to be a galan.
ReplyDeleteOh, and Chef Hawt (galan #2 who won the girl) in Querida Enemiga.
ReplyDeleteOMG Anita, Alex/William was to die for. Antolin in Fuerza had that quiet strength that you could feel boiling below those shirts, even when he was being calm. Alex's was more explosive, but all there. As much as I like him,Soto never seems to give me that feeling (maybe that's what's missing for me). But yes, a round for Alex Lombardo who had it all. DZ was a wonderful brute too.
ReplyDeleteYola
Thanks, Vivi
ReplyDeleteYou always do such a coherent recap. I am still trying to make sense of this one and I am put off by the two hour offering, but I am giving it a try.
Soto always looks sunburned, doesn't he? He has a truly chiseled physique though. I'll bet he does not eat many Krispy Kreme doughnuts!
Who should I keep an eye on in this TN?
Thanks again, Vivi.
EJ
Thanks for dropping by EJ. Yes, Gab Soto needs to take a break from the beach or wear higher level suncreen. He also needs to stop with the highlights. The surfer boy look gets old after a while. But the man does indeed have a nice body, and I'm sure he works VERY hard to maintain it. Thank you Gabriel.
ReplyDeleteAs for who to watch in this. I don't think there are any breakout stars yet. I like our heroine. This is the first time that I've seen Zuria in a tn. (I saw an episode of Mujeres Asesinas with her starring.) I really like Brandon Peniche/Pato. I think he has a bright future ahead (and not just because of his famous dad); he has managed to do so much with a role that gives him limited mobility. It's a pretty young cast, so I think many of them are still developing their craft. Jessica C. is a wonderful raving beyotch, as usual. I really like Oscar (Harry G.) and I think he'll become more of a player as he discovers some truths about Max and Claudio.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU CARAY CARAY RECAPPERS FOR EXISTING! I get hooked on these silly novelas, and my Spanish is sketchy to put it mildly. This fills in a lot of blanks for me on "Refugio," I was totally confused about some of these back stories. For one thing every time they go back to the Pueblo, it's tune out time, those segments are so boring although the casita there is charming as hell and Iove how they are always doing some folklorico type thing like making pottery or tortillas!! OK did anybody else bust out laughing when Rod knocked on the door holding what to me looked like scarecrow-quality dummy of Pato? Seriously I think that is a mannequin in the shot, if you have it on DVR check it out.
ReplyDeleteHey Katie. Welcome! Please comment more often.
ReplyDeleteI did laugh out loud when Luci opened the door, but that really was Bradon P. Since he's supposed to be paralyzed, he had to go totally limp. Luckily, Gab Soto weight lifts enough to carry that much dead weight. I just hope they didn't have to shoot that scene multiple times!
Hi Vivi nice to meet you and awesome recap!! OK I have that on DVR & am gonna look at it again but seriously when that came on my daughter and I busted out laughing and we were both like, FAKEY MC FAKE FAKE!! The thing is when you are holding a dead weight person or a dead weight animal the weight is distributed a bit differently you know? He looks like he is holding a scarecrow Pato which is why IMO Pato's head is cut off of the shot. If they wanna be super-McFake they will just go from that shot to them setting him up in bed but one thing, I'm no doctor but I think if they have people you know, with the whiplash neck thing on and all strapped in a certain way to heal major trauma, they probably DON'T want that person carried about like a sack of potatoes, just sayin'. Although in this case I think it IS a sack of potatoes with Pato's PJ bottoms on it, IMO!
ReplyDelete
