Breaking News! Rich Girl Gets Dumped on Honeymoon, Man!

Capitulo 61

Nanda is on her way out to go see Margarita, Santi stops her and she explains that one of the conditions of Santoro’s alliance with Grupo Lactose Intolerance is that she build the community center and it’s her responsibility. Nanda doesn’t want anything to get in the way of Pow-Where Meelk helping out the family business after what her husband has done to them. Santi likes the sound of this. Santi asks if she sure that Damian took the money and Nanda tells him the only thing she can be sure of right now is that her marriage is finished.

Barbie is still in the dark room with Cigarman, Artemio Bravo. He tells her until her work is finished she better continue to obey orders. Angrily and sarcastically she says, Si Senor!

Meanwhile, Esteve impresses us again with his knowledge of the English language. He actually said “Jesus Christ!” when he found Isaac Barrera Newton’s name in the phone book.

Anibal comes back from his morning jog. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me but when you have a giant problem on your head, like your company is going down the tubes, your wife who you hate is supposedly pregnant, that same wife is getting suspicious about her money, can you exercise? I’d be curled up in the fetal position in the corner of the bathroom with Lili – but that’s just me. Sorry for the tangent!

Vlad’s phone rings and Dam tells him to answer it right away – must be his Gordita. How cute, Vlad and Pris both have their white terry robes on. She wants to come over and talk, but Vlad’s playin’ hard to get. They make a deal to meet up at noon at his apartment to talk about the new information Vlad has for her about Anibal.

Fr/Ed’s getting ready to make a prank call to Isaac Barrera Newton. He calls and it’s a message that says: Between 4 and 8 Licensiado Isaac Newton will see you. Fr/Ed’s frustrated, Esteve is excited (you can tell by how many times he uses the word “man”). Esteve says that nobody would go to so much trouble to hide something that’s not worth anything, and why doesn’t Fr/Ed see if Lili knows. Esteve goes on to say they’ve got lots of time until 4:00 that afternoon and in the meantime Fr/Ed has to give Barb something to chew on to keep her on the hook. Esteve the Wise Man goes on to tell the story his father told him about how to catch a big fish (analogy for Barb).

Nanda’s driving, thinking back to her wedding and crying. She waits for the sheep and the sheepherder to pass. She looks at the boy and sees Eduardo in him as a young boy. Now she’s cries for Eduardo.

Barbie’s talking to Dr. Dementobregon. She tells him Lili will be staying at the clinic for 3 more months and that he better keep her drugged up in case someone wants to come and visit. The Doc wants to see Barbie in person to give her a little gift – es una chucheria (a useless trinket) he says, but he’s giving it to her with affection. She thinks he’s an idiot and hangs up on him.

Martina is brushing Lilia’s hair when Adolfina comes in with a box holding Ciro’s chess set for Lili.

The Three Stooges, or maybe just Manzanares alone, are spying on Las Animas. Gardenia brings breakfast out to the boys waiting on the patio. Esteve is really excited about the enchiladas because he says “Man” again to Fr/Ed. I think we need to start one of those drinking games – everytime Esteve says “Man”, we all drink a shot of tequila. Can you imagine what Esteve will be like when he and Gardenia finally have sex? Oh Man!!! Oh Man!! Oh Man!, Oh Maa . . . .!!!! LOL Gardenia tells Don Santorito she’s going to the market, she wants to cook tonight for El Gringito. But, Fr/Ed tells her they’re not eating at home tonight.

Esteve goes back to business. He says Fr/Ed can get Barb with some of her own weapons. They discuss the expired milk. Fr/Ed’s going to try to find Barb’s enemies.

Margarita answers the door for Nanda. Jacinto comes out of the bathroom and they explain that Jacinto isn’t working for Santoro anymore.

Denia is sweeping and singing at the top of her lungs. Lucio leers at her.

They explain what happened but leave out the part about it being Cadmilo. Nanda invites Jacinto to come back to work for the Elizaldes. Jacinto says no and when Nanda asks why not, Jacinto goes into a stuttering fit and Margs has to explain that the man who threatened Jacinto was her brother Cadmil-ho! Nanda is shocked. Why?

Gardenia threatens Lucio with the broom. When Jairo comes up from behind with his full Saturday Night Fever Suit and they drag her off kicking and screaming.

Nanda wants to know if Franco knows that it was Camilo that wanted to get inside Las Animas. Jacinto says no, but explains he thinks Camilo was looking for some papers. Nanda can’t believe all the problems she has. Nanda makes them promise they won’t tell Camilo that she knows. Nanda leaves.

Jairo and Lucio drag Gardenia into a house (not sure if it’s Lucio’s/Soledad’s) blindfolded and gagged. Denia is not goin’ down without a fight and she lands a right hook to Lucio’s mouth! The blindfold is off now, but Jairo is out of patience and pulls a gun on them both to get them to stop fighting. Gardenia gets locked in a bedroom, but Jairo has pulled off her gag. Big mistake Jairo – this chick has the biggest mouth south of the Rio Grande! Lucio’s back to shut her up, Denia hits him again and knocks him down, but he picks up a stick and tries to hit her with it. Just then Jairo comes back to stop Lucio. They leave and lock Gardenia in the room again. Apparently we're not the only ones that are tryin' to shut Gardenia up!

Prisci is crying in her cafecito in the dining room, when Santiago comes in. She tells him she’s pregnant and they hug happily. She says she’s thinking if it’s a boy she’ll name him Santiago because he’s the only one of the Elizalde brothers she likes.

Aurora is on a bus to we don’t know where, when exactly at the same time Dominga wakes up with one mother-of-a-hangover, screaming for Aurora. Dominga is looking for her keys, can’t find them and goes and opens up the armoire realizing Aurora’s not there and she’s been tricked and that her money is gone.

Dam and Vlad conspire about Barbie. Dam needs Vlad to make some copies for him, bring back the copies and give Prisci the originals. It takes a while and a little sweet talk to get Vlad to understand.

Lili is teaching Martina how to play chess. Lili’s afraid of the Black Queen and asks Martina for the White King and it’s not there. Lili starts putting 2 and 2 together and realizes that the White King is the road to her freedom.

Vlad’s at the local Kinko’s and while the lady goes off to make his copies, he hears on a TV gossip show something about the millionair-ess Fernanda Elizalde. He’s mesmerized. In the meantime, Dam’s mommy is listening to the same show in her own house and faints when she hears her son stole $3 million. At the same exact moment Erika is watching also and cannot believe what she hears – but sort of has a smirk on her face at the same time. Could it be that our Errorika is smugly happy that the perfect life of Fernanda has fallen apart?

Fr/Ed has come to see Gepetto in the hospital. Gepetto’s wearing a hospital gown and needs to close his legs!!!! Ewwww! I also just realized that Don Silvestre bears quite the resemblance to Jerry Stiller. Dr. Cuteguy comes in to report on Gepetto’s condition. Oh thank goodness, Gepetto wants Fr/Ed to bring him clothes – Fr/Ed’s one step ahead of Gepetto and hands him a bag.

The Three Stooges arrive back at Las Animas to break in and snoop. Manzanares wants Jairo and Lucio to be the lookouts and goes in alone.

Back at Lucio’s Love Shack Gardenia is still screaming and banging on the door for help. She frantically searches for something to use to break the door or window and find nothing and goes back to screaming out the window.

Nanda and Santi are sitting on the patio talking. She tells him about Camilho being at Las Animas. Nanda tells Santi she went to see Franco after she found out what Dam had done.

Vlad comes back to the apartment and breaks the news to Dam about what he heard on TV. Dam is muy impactado!

Nanda tells Santi that she can’t think about anything but Eduardo. She says she thinks Eddie is trying to send her a message. She says she found out the Eduardo was still in love with her until the day he died – Jacinto said so. Santi wants to know what bothers Nanda more, that Eduardo loved her all this time and she didn’t know it, or but that she still loved him also and didn’t realize it.

Vlad and Dam argue over what’s true and what’s not. Vlad explains the police are looking for Dam and Dam heads for the television to see for himself, but there’s nothing. Vlad says maybe he needs to wait for the news to come on. Dam calls his mother who has revived herself – she answers and asks if it’s all true – Dam says, Mama, but then nothing else and hangs up on her.

Santi makes Fernanda realize that if Eduardo was alive now everything would be different.

Erika shows up just in time to break the news to her about Damian and that it’s all over the TV. Apparently, Gonzo hadn’t told her about their conversation with the police. Nanda is impactada!

Excellent recap!

I just realized why having Esteve around is so great. All heroes need a henchman, and Jacinto just didn't have enough smarts and self-confidence to do Freduardo any good. He seems as if his spirit had been broken from so many years of bowing and scraping to the Elizaldes. Watching Colunga and Esteve strike sparks off each other's good minds is great fun.

Lucio needs a good beatdown, and soon. He's worse than Jairo.

I know Vlad and Damian are kind of funny together, but it drives me nuts that Vlad is so submissive. He sends him out to do his photocopying, for godsake!

Very quick and funny recap, Melissa, thank you.
Watch out for that right of Gardenia's! Smacked that smirk right off ol Lucio's face-TWICE! I think that she should have tried the window a bit more, she would have been free.
I'd forgotten about Jacinto's being fired, I thought that maybe that was just a ruse for Gardenia, but it looks like it was for real. Jacinto was shook up by it, still. I guess now that esteve is in town, Eddy doesn't want to play with Jacinto anymore. Poor guy.
Did Aurora steal money from the hag? I thought that she only took the giro. Where is she going?

As I remember, Gonzo asked Sgt. Matasanos to keep it quiet, no news to the press, and Babs told him that Gonzo had changed his mind, and let's get out an A.P.B., get this menace Gallardo off the streets and in jail. Hence, Fer's surprise that the news was out.

Very funny recap, Melissa! I haven't seen it yet, but I'm ready with the tequila, Man!!!

Jane

Man, O Man, what a great recap, Melissa! It was very funny and informative too.

I caught snippets because I was channel surfing between Meps and DWTS. Off to YouTube to catch up. GinCA

Good, succinct, salty recap, good work!

Thanks, Melissa. So, Lili now has the chess board. I wonder if there really is something important hidden in that board. Also, it's fun to see Dam out of his natty suits and into that tighty whitey tee shirt....very James Dean. Also, Isaac Newton is a Licensiado...what is that...like a notary ??? And, I agree that Esteve's ''man''s should be tabulated. I hope that he and Gardenia get together ...imagine those spunky curly redhaired bebes. By the way, I would like to see Gardenia the Great team up with Martina the Magnificent. They would certainly make a dynamic duo. I cheered when Denia punched Lucio not once but TWICE. You go, Girl. He was terrified until he found a weapon to threaten her with ...What a big chicken.

Great recap Melissa! My Univision lost its signal for about 5 minutes (don't know why) so you filled in the blanks for me. Gardenia had all kinds of weapons in that room she just didn't realize it. She should have picked up the nightstand and tried to smash the boards off the window or taken the bed apart and used the bed frame. Lucio got what was coming to him and I hope more. I personally would have smashed him in the head with the nightstand, Man.

Esteve was cracking me up last night! I don't think he's attractive at all but he sure is funny. He got so excited when they found the name in the phone book. I think he and Gardenia are going to hook up.

Thought for the day: Is it possible for Damian to touch anything that he later does not throw, ie. telephone, TV remote? If this guy were in mi casa, I'd kick his culo from D.F. to Tijuana and make him cough up the dinero for damages.

Anon 8:05, I'm with you. I have no tolerance for people that break my stuff. I thought for sure he was going to throw the phone last night but again I was disappointed. He did look awfully fine in his tight t-shirt.

Well, he did throw the phone last night, Connie. But it landed in a soft chair so no damage done. Still it was satisfying to at last see that special little Sendel toss. And I too luuuurve those tight white t-shirts. If he'd worn those more often around Fernanda, she might have caved. Who knows?

Thanks for a fast-moving, funny recap Melissa. Always a pleasure.

Thanks for the info JudyB. That must have happened when I lost the Univision signal--Darn...

Thanks again for a very entertaining recap!

I just checked with DH and a "licenciado" is another word for "abagado" or attorney in English.

Was Dam's shirt really white or more pink/peach?

I love Esteve and he would be great with Denia's - they would surely have a very volatile relationship.

rsk

rsk, I thought it was pink. I don't normally like me that wear pink but I'll make an exception this one time!

Men not me. I'm not awake yet.

Fr/Ed fired Jacinto for doing what he wanted him to do? Fr/ed wanted Jacinto to let Camilo in & planted the e-mail for him to find. So Jacinto probably knows he's not really fired, but this is info they want to get back to Camilo.

So now Jacinto supposedly is w/o a job because he isn't returning to the Elizaldes because of Camilo's abuses.

Pretty soon Fr/Ed's pad is going to be crowded with people snooping around.

Enjoyed the early bird special recap, Melissa!

Glad to see Damian dress down for 'working' in the apartment. He's been in his suit until last night. He's very expressive, but I too wouldn't tolerate his breaking, smashing, hissy fits. Also, it seems like the phone call he made to Mama could easily be traced to his best friends apartment.

I thought Gardenia would be more resourceful and not just cry. But, this is a growth period for her, and she'll get herself together. It's always frustrating to watch a woman just sit there feeling helpless. I'm hoping she'll get herself together and escape. Or at least try to escape.

Can't believe Freduardo left his passport anywhere near the Animas. Maybe Esteve will catch him in the house...
jb

Some places, "licensiado" can mean anyone that has a masters, or even a bachellors degree. Tho maybe in Mexico, it is reserved for attorneys.

I'm sure once Gardenia stops crying she'll figure something out. She's not stupid. I hope Lucio gets whacked. Threatening women with a crowbar, seriously--what a scumbag. I cannot tolerate violence against women or someone who is weaker. Cadmil-Ho and Lucio need a good old fashioned ass whoopin'. And Jairo is just a pig. There is no redemption for him either.

Vario- I was thinking the same about Jacinto, but he seemed upset- stuttering and all. He's never done that before, has he? He is way too loyal a friend to be kicked to the curb.

jb- I was thinking that the phone call could be traced- why didn't Damian use his cell, as he normally does. I was thinking that he set himself up for an arrest by doing so. Ditto on my Gardenia and her giving uo so easily. I'm hoping that she gives it another try.

I'm guessing that the attorney has the patent info? Perhaps he has info on Lili? I can't wait to find out.

Thanks for the recap.

Susanlynn: I thought Ciro had filled the inside of the chess board with money.

Thanks for the recap Melissa. I'm starting to change my opinion of Vlad a bit. I was thinking he would end up doing some bad stuff, be dangerous. Now, not so sure. He starting to seem a little slow to be too dangerous. :)

It didn't take long for the news to hit the streets. Great seeing everybody going impactado/a watching it.

Looks like Lucio has a glass jaw. Denia really rocks.

Besides getting his hair fixed up, now Santiago is going a little professorial wearing glasses every now and then as well.

JeffMN

Well done, Melissa, another very funny, very entertaining recap. I'm loving Esteve. For the moment he and Eddie have more chemistry together than Eddie and Nanda.

Connie, I thought that Jairo demonstrated some chivalry by stepping up to protect Gardenia. Well, maybe he sees her as a possibly promising addition to his stable of mudders.

Did Eddie leave his passport out on purpose? If not, he is looking less and less like a Harvard grad. Maybe he was there on an athletic scholarship.

Carlos

You're right Carlos. He did step in there but I still don't like him.

Thank you for the recap, Melissa.

I had to laugh at Anibal’s post-jogging routine. He barely held that quads stretch for five seconds, if even that long. (lame!) How much do you want to bet he only ran to the mailbox and back to work up that sweat?

I really, truly dislike Lucio. Every time he is on screen, I see him with devil’s horns and a tail, and the red cape; Satan himself. Must be something about his face. Eeew. I hope he meets a horrendous end.

I was horrified by Gepetto shooting squirrels, too. Yikes. My telenovela beanie hat needs an eye shield.

Nando looked impactada when Jacinto told her he won’t work for them again because Camilo was threatening to hit him. It’s time Nanda finds out what a rat her brother is. First Erika, now Jacinto.

It did seem a little surprising for Jairo to jump in and help Denia. Not sure what their plans are, she has seen them, so can turn them in.

Ed's passport wasn't sitting out. He did stuff it in a drawer. Wasn't planning on someone looking through everything. It wasn't completely hidden and I didn't think it was a good idea letting Cadmilho go through his stuff earlier. I was worried it would get found then.

I am wondering where Ed is going to find out about the name Rebecca Sanchez? Senor Newton?

I agree with Dave's definition: "Some places, "licensiado" can mean anyone that has a masters, or even a bachellors degree. Tho maybe in Mexico, it is reserved for attorneys."
In Amo Juan Q, they were referring to all sorts of people as licenciado.

JeffMN

Doris - I spit coffee when I read "shooting squirrels"! I've never heard that one before. Hilarious!

Thank you Melissa!
("I don’t know, maybe it’s just me but when you have a giant problem on your head, like your company is going down the tubes, your wife who you hate is supposedly pregnant, that same wife is getting suspicious about her money, can you exercise? I’d be curled up in the fetal position in the corner of the bathroom with Lili – but that’s just me. Sorry for the tangent!...") Ain't THAT the truth!

So funny Melissa, and so enlightening, thank you.

There were so many exciting dangerous events being set up that I felt as though the romance stuff was interupting.

yea for Gardenia....those right hooks to lucio were great...she is so cool, chatter box or not....Jairo needs to be next for some whoopin...Esteve is going to help keep this novela moving...what a neat character.....Damian is a hottie...looks good in pink....Jacinto needs to pick his head up and be a man.....too mamby pamby now......BN in CA

If Gardenia can't get out the window she should take the bed apart and use part of the frame to put the smackdown on whoever enters the room first. Now that would leave a mark!

Wow, Connie, you sound kind of dangerous yourself.

Carlos

I hate being helpless. And if it is between me and them it's going to be them.

Way back when Ed/Fr put those confidential documents in that unlocked, insecure cupboard I said WHAT! !!! But if he plants papers for Cad to find is there a remote very very remote reason for leaving that stuff to be found? I can not wait to hear that excuse.

Vlad has seemed to me as rather childlike. He looks on like "Look what he's(Damian) doing" when Damian is having a temper tantrum. I see Damian's frustration with Vlad as dealing with an adult who's maddeningly naive. But Damian is also/oh-so willing to use that naivete. He wraps his arm around Vlad shoulder like an older wiser big brother and schools him on treachery, telling him "I'm never wrong..". But Vlad is a kind of dangerous tool I think. He could be used by anybody. First Prissy now Damian.

Still giggling Carlos, over "stable of mudders" and Harvard athletic scholarship.

I thought Jairo was playing good-cop bad-cop...He probably believes (in his mind) that he has a way with women.

I'm with you Connie, if you're going to be hurt anyway then go all out fighting.

I was calling for: Ricardo, no-no, Franco come save Gardenia. But then got sidetracked with aggrivation over how EAsy Edwardo made it for just any ole body to find his true identity.

I carry a stun gun and pepper spray!

Wow! So nice to see so many other members of the Tight White T-shirt Club. Even if it's pink. Ah, my younger days and those farm boys in the summertime.

Remember Ed was pondering how to bring Lili out of her stupor? I think the chess set will be the key. Something to blow away the fog and grease up the gears. Did you notice how much more lucid she was, as she was teaching Martina chess? That is, until the black queen upset her.

Bonney Churros - I thought Jairo was rubbing his fingers together and saying something about dinero. I didn't know if he was referring to ransom money from Ed/Fr or didn't want to damage the goods for a stint at the Mud Hut Bar. Poor guy doesn't know what he is in for - all of his power and majesty will be gone with his gun.

Esteve has to be the "brains" of the group - he was the one that thought of the phone book or we would still be wondering about the cryptic note.

Connie - I am with you, take the bed apart or something!

rsk

If the hinges are on the inside of the door she could also pop the hinges and take the door off using part of the bed as a tool.

I used to teach college English in Mexico. Licenciado/a is applied to anyone who has a "title" or what we call in the U.S., a college degree.

CB

Great recap, Melissa!

Of course if Gardenia had a cell phone, or if Soledad's house had a phone, she could call the police, and have Lucio and Jairo arrested for kidnapping, but what would be the fun in that? I'm rooting for hit 'em with the 2x4.

I think Aurora remarked she now had a clue to follow, meaning that the money order could lead to finding her mother.

Phone books could be different in Mexico, but the one they used looked like a yellow pages to me, and I wouldn't look up someone's home phone in the yellow pages. Of course, since it seems that he's an attorney, I guess they DID know what they were doing.

The e-mail that Camilo stole from Fr/Ed's house talked about Fr/Ed looking for a rich wife. Camilo has already passed that on to the family, including Fernanda.

Jacinto was probably reacting more to revealing the vile Camilo's abuses rather than being fired by Fr/Ed.

Melissa, awesome! Love your asides.

I thought the cabinet where the passport was kept was in another room. Cad only went into the office. The other guys was going through the whole house.

Yeah Gardenia, I wanted her to smack him some more! She ROCKS! When they through her in that room, the pictures on the walls all looked like male models, not women. Hmmmm

Erika did seem to have a bit of smirk on her face watching the news. That is sad because Nanda seems pretty kind and honest and Erika is supposed to be her best friend.

I was thinking Jacintos reaction was more because he really hates lying to Fernanda. It seems to really put him on edge everytime. Maybe because she is the one they all truly care about.

Pris, Santi and Nanda are the best people in that house and they all have to come out alright in the end!

I can't see how they're going to recover Freduardo's hidden identity plan from the early reveal of his real name to Manzanares. Unless Manzanares is bumped off (heroes never do that) or bribed, he's going to tell Cigarman (who will tell Babs) that Franco Santoro is really Eduardo Juárez. Maybe they'll have that happen, but she doesn't tell the Elizaldes. Who knows?

Vlad hasn't left his place to go to work. He might be a trust baby and I agree, he doesn't seem like the brightest bulb. He's almost like a puppy.

In LFMB, it seemed everyone in management was called licenciado.

Fr/Ed is the worst planner and seems to fly by the seat of his pants. Let's hope his hiding his passport in the flimsy cabinet was part of a grand plan since it seems Jairo found it. Esteve needs to stick around to help his best bud think straight Why is it that Esteve speaks more Spanish than Fr/Ed speaks English since Fr/Ed attended Harvard and had to prepare and be proficient enough to take college classes in English for more than 6 years. I know this is a Spanish language telenovela but Fr/Ed needs to speak a little English to his bud.

So far, Lucio has been smacked down by two women, Martina the Magnificent and Gardenia the Great, as Susanlynn dubbed them. To be consistent, it would be nice for a woman to off him in the end for justice's sake. GinCA

Novelera, I think that after it revealed to cigarman who FS really is, the relationship between Franco and La Hiena will take an interesting turn. Stay tuned!!

Carlos~~~LOL...I always love to read your take on things. You have a good sense of humor. Connie~~If I am ever in trouble, I want you on my team...which, of course, would also include Gardenia, Martina, and my fearless friend from high school , the Marvelous Mary Jane [the boys all adored her even when she pummeled them. ...she was not unlike our Gardenia].

GinCA, why does eSteve speak more Spanish than Ed speaks English? Because the Steve-actor was hired for his ability to speak English, while Colunga was hired for other charms! I suspect, in real life, he knows little English. Or else he doesn't want to speak it in public if he can't do it well.

Melissa: Terrific recap. An action packed episode which you captured perfectly.

So many great comments...I'll echo those who noted Gardenia was simply magnificent. Lucio/Lucifer was beaten down with hopefully more to come. Esteve is great. As Novelera said: "Watching Colunga and Esteve strike sparks off each other's good minds is great fun."

Let's hope Erica's smirk was simply one of disbelief rather than happiness.

PaulaH, THANK YOU for mentioning Damian's t-shirt was pink. I walked up to the TV several times and thought I was just imagining it so thank you for the confirmation.

Judy, I loved Damian's long awaited soft couch phone toss. Finally!

What will happen when Fr's passport reveals him to be Ed?

Diana in MA

Paula H.~~~~I am right there with you. I grew up with farm boys in white tee shirts, too....4-H hayrides, wild strawberries, dips in the farm pond, walks through the fields , hide and seek in the orchard, spin the bottle on the back porch, swinging in the tree swing...mmmmmm....Where am I ? Well, anyway, I don't think Dam is a grownup farm boy , but...he looks good in the tighty whitey [pinky] ????

Diana, it was RSK who noted the shirt was pink. On my TV it's green. My son has the good TV (long story), so on the TV I watch, EVERYTHING is green!

And the phone toss? I think he's still playing with us. We know a good Sendel phone-hurl is coming, and he throws lamps, or squeezes phones, or lightly tosses them, all to build the suspense and flirt with our desire.

Ooh! Terrible thought! Y'know how, on novelas, the villian doesn't get his punishment, and the hero doesn't get the girl, until the finale? What if Sendel keeps teasing us but doesn't give us a cell-phone-hurl until the finale? That's just cruel!

My apologies RSK (thank you Paula). On my TV, Dam's shirt was definitely pink. Gracias. Diana in MA

I have to say, I loved the t-shirt also!

It is funny that Fr/Ed never speaks English to his friend, but I do think it may be that FC doesn't really know any. I noticed on Ladron behind the scenes, many of the actors being interviewed chose to respond in English. He did not. I was kind of hoping to hear him speak English.

Great recap! I'm loving this show sooo much. Steve and Eduardo are too funny. Steve's voice combined with his ridiculous Spanglish is so bad, but it's starting to grow on me, due to its pure hilarity I guess.

I don't think FrEd has discarded Jacinto, although I was caught off guard by him not working at Las Animas anymore. I don't remember that actually happening previously... But maybe Jacinto is going to go down a new path, although I have to wonder what's going to happen to the prized horse.

I love when Fr/Ed's sentences end in this little melody of his. Has anyone ever noticed that?

Loved the recap Melissa. Silvestre does love like Jerry Stiller. Loved the part about needing to close his legs wearing his hospital gown LOL. Lucio needs his butt kicked bigtime. I'm sick of watching men beat women on these novelas. It's not entertaining. So now that Damian knows the police is looking for him how will he go after Babs. He will need a brilliant plan to say the least and in the previews it looks like Eddie's true identity was discovered. Dun Dun Dun Duuuuuuuun!

I meant look like Jerry Stiller LOL. Typos

It surely does seem that Jacinto got a dirty deal. I don't see where that plot line is going.

And in "real life" I think Esteve would tire of Gardenia very fast. I'm sure she would be amusing for awhile but I doubt there would be much of substance to share. Esteve seems to be a person that would want to discuss a good book occasionally with the love of his life.

Doris, "shooting squirrels" had a friend and I cracking up. I have never heard that before! What is the orgin?

Molly, when my son was little he had his fly open and I told him the barn door was open and the cows were getting out. He said, huh?

Connie, when my son was in the first grade at Catholic school, he finised up his work sheet and the teacher told him to find something to do. He walked around the class asking who wanted to see his penis. The first of many trips to the principals office.

Thanks for the recap Maggie. Loved your comments also especially your crack about Anibal's "run."

Molly, Ha! You just gotta love little boys!

OMG .... shooting squirrrels .... I don't know where I learned it. We used it as kids and probably picked it up in school. Definitely when short skirts were worn. By girls. ~(minutes later...) I just talked with my sister (2 yrs younger than I) and she also remembers we learned it after we moved to the South, and most likely from other kids in school. That would have been when I was in Junior High a/k/a middle school.
Maybe it's a Southern expression?

Here's a thought .... if and when cigar guy finds out Franco Santoro is really Eduardo Cruz Juarez (or whatever his name is), I wonder if the Soledad connection will click in his head???

Didn't Artemio want Eduardo dead, because Soledad was the only one that knew the story?

I should have added that Artemio was afraid that Soledad had told Eduardo.

Thanks, Melissa, for the excellent and funny recap. Lots of hilarious comments, too.
Anibal is NOT a convincing jogger. Gardenia IS a convincing self-defense artist. And, yes, Vlad does resemble a puppy. He must have a trust fund, not sure he could hold down a job.
La Paloma

Hi all:

Are we all ready for the season ending finale of Lost?? I'll fit MEPS in somewhere later.

As for Ed firing Santiago, that happened a week or two ago. The incident was when Gardenia ratted out Jacinto to Ed/Fr in Jacinto's presence about Jacinto helping Camilo into the house. Ed said he sympathized with Jacinto being under the "control" of Camilo, but nevertheless, he was fired. Both Jacinto and Gardenia were muy impactado.

It made perfect sense for me. First, it setup as Jacinto as a fellow "henchman" of Camilho so that Camilho might include Jacinto into further hijinx and act as a spy for Ed/Fr. Also, if anyone knew the facts, and also how much time Ed/Fr and Jacinto had been spending together, this a perfect way of saying they were close, but not that close. Otherwise, there might be a hint of Jacinto being in cahoots with Ed/Fr. This would remove any thought that the break-in was actually staged by Ed/Fr.

And, finally, it would be a conversation "starter" into telling some Elizalde (Gonzo/Babs?) in the future about Camilo breaking into his house. Something like "Thanks for loaning Jacinto to me, but I had to fire him after he let Camilo into my house."

The little detail that hasn't been covered is who is taking care of the million dollar horse? Will Sylvestre look after the horse when he gets out of the hospital?

Anyway, it made sense to me at the time and I guess the future will tell what the writers have in mind for Jacinto.

The Silverfox.

I've lurked here for years and never post but I have to share this and no one I know is watching this novela.

I just found a lone white plastic chess piece on the sidewalk in front of the grocery store. It’s the white king! The head doesn’t screw off but whatever capped the bottom is missing and its hollow inside (no note from Ciro, unfortunately). Coincidentally, (and I am not joking),--my name is Lilian. Spooky! Please tell me this means Fernando Colunga is coming to save me! :)

BTW, many thanks for the great recaps and comments here. I always look forward to reading them.

Thanks Melissa for a great recap. I like the title a lot too.

Lilian, Welcome to Caray, Caray posting. Congratulations and enjoy. This is a fun group of people.

Lilian, by the way, I meant to comment on your chess piece story. how incredible. I think you were meant to join this site, that is probably what the missing message said! Look for Caray Caray!!!

Hi, Lilian~~~Great story. Keep a look out for Fernando now !!! Welcome.

I've never heard the expression ''shooting squirrels'', but it brought to mind something my bro-in-law used to tell his kids whenever they had some gas problems...He'd tell them that they were ''shooting bunny rabbits.''

Silverfox - my DH is definitely looking forward to 'Lost' season finale. He'll have his Telenovela Beanie Hat firmly planted atop his head, too! (LOL)

Lillian, I absolutely love your story, dodoo dodoo, thanks for sharing it with us. Good luck on FC showing up. I've been waiting on Kate del Castillo for several years now. Cheryl, yesterday my profa presented me with CIFRA by Octavio Paz, a poema espacial(new to me). Our reading of Detectives Salvages lead us there. Are you familiar with this? What do you think of such? Carlos

I'm kinda new to this blog and was wondering: what does "Caray, Caray" mean?

i had the impression that esteve was american, met eduardo in college and befriend him and learned spanish to talk to Eduardo, which is the opposite of someone commenting that he was showing his knowledge of english.

caray means Good Heavens! similar to ¡ay caramba!

Thanks, Variopinta!!

Whee!!! I've been so busy reading today's recaps and comments that I've missed half the episode.

Lilian! What an awesome story! I can't imagine finding a lone chesspiece on the ground! It's gotta be a sign!

Anibal's jogging... I only caught a split-second so maybe that glimpse was misleading, but I thought he ran like a puppy.

I think Vlad is a jai alai player. His job may be seasonal - perhaps this is the off season and that's why he hasn't been going to work lately.

I also saw something about jai alai & also something about boxing.

Lilian, Welcome! Your story is Wow! I'd be spooked at first, but then I'd be waiting for Colunga to save me too! But, if you meet somebody soon named Obregon you better run!

I'm glad to know that Dam's shirt really was pink - I thought it was just my eyes or the television! I don't think Sendel's face is very handsome at all, but from the neck down - yum!

Glad everyone like the recap!

Thanks to all for the kind words of welcome and for humoring my surreal moment. A Liliana finding a chess piece, surely that is life imitating art? And admittedly, my job often feels like the looney bin, …but I digress.

Carlos, Kate Del Castillo is my favorite female lead too. Loved her since Alguna Vez Tendremos Alas. Not holding my breath on TBLMOE showing up here anytime soon (my husband thinks that should be his title anyway). With my luck I'd get Sergio Sendel with a pink shirt and that mustache (not so much).

-Lil
