MEPS 7/6: Damian gets a new assignment, Fr/Ed puts his hands in the fire.
- There's Damian's pixy smile as Anibal is forced to accept his return to the business.
Fer says she wouldn't be defending Damian if she weren't convinced of his innocence. Gonzo apologizes to Damian on behalf of the corporation.
Anibal makes a last protest: he likes Vladimir, who has replaced Damian. Damian sez, you don't have to fire him, and besides, over time you will learn that I'm honest. Anibal objects, Damian pretends to leave, Gonzo calls him back and they shake. Damian: "Oh, one thing - we need a month for our honeymoon."
Fer is not pleased about that. Anibal squeaks: "You just came back and already a vacation?" Damian's about to dig in for a fight when Fer announces, loudly, that she doesn't want to go on a honeymoon with him. She stomps out slamming the door. Damian follows. Gonzo is confused.
Anibal says that marriage is not their major problem, the business is - and he begs his father not to put Damian in charge of finances, "It would be insanity!" - When we last saw Fr/Ed he was at the end of his rope. "It doesn't matter that she was faithful so long - now, she's married... I can't face her!"
Esteve says Fer is an important ally to "Franco" so "Eduardo" is just going to have to suck it up.
Gardenia bounces in, all happy and cheery. "Last night I received these letters, Gardenia - did you leave them for me?" No, no, she says, in fact she swears on her word of honor and then, "Oh noes! I left milk on the stove" and she rushes out.
For some reason they believe her and suspicion next settles on - Fernanda! Esteve postulates that she figured out Fr/Ed's real identity and left the letters to punish him. But how did she get them? Bla, bla, bla. - Let's get Aurora out of the way. She is still sulking and won't tell Santi what's going on. He has found them a nice little place to live, just as she asked!
"But you said you'd stay for Fer!" "Fer won't mind, I can still help her without being under the same roof, and we won't be very far away. Let's go see it right now!"
Aurora says she can't - she has a date with Barbara to go shopping. Boy, is she a lousy liar. Barbara calls the witch and says Aurora's coming back in and must be pressured into telling everything - specifically, how she ended up with Rebeca Sanchez' handkerchief. The witch sounds willing to help out. - Artemio Bravo thinks Babs is getting over-confident and the reappearance of Lili could spoil everything. Babs is confident she has them all in her fist and she'll prevail.
- Damian says he deserves an explanation. Fer yells that after he was gone so long without a word he has a nerve, pressuring her.
Gonzo comes in, Damian backs out, bowing subserviently, love his pink tie. Daddy asks, "Daughter o' mine, what's going on? Is it because of Lili? Well you don't have to worry, because Obregon has reappeared and, as 'we' expected, has demanded money, but the important thing is, Lili is ok."
Fer, knowing that in fact Lili is installed in a luxurious condo with Martina, chokes and doesn't know what to say. As her dad continues like the moron he is ("Barbara and I will take care of everything") Fer becomes more tongue-tied and finally runs out to her car and wishes it was Fr/Ed calling her, but it's Erica, so she doesn't answer. - Yanking his mind from the Fernanda miseries, Fr/Ed remembers: Father Bosco told him only Silvestre the blacksmith, Martina's pappy, can solve the mystery of Ana Gregoria, mother to Artemio Bravo. Time to make a visit to the forge.
- Oh dear, your slack blog mom hasn't been paying the slightest attention to the subplot involving Vlad and these anonymous suits at Prisila's family's company and so I didn't catch what they were going on about when Vlad visited over there - hope somebody who's been paying more attention will fill us in...
- Damian tells Barbara they have to talk. She yanks him into her office. He asks why he should keep cooperating with her, she points out that if she changes her mind and denounces him again, he'll go down. He sees he's trapped. Her plan: he must catch his virgin bride making the beast with two backs with Franco Santoro so as to destroy her.
Damian doesn't like hearing that his wife is in love with Franco, and he doesn't like this plan much either: "Well, Barby, you're just as putrid as they come!" "Yes, I am, and your knowing that will save us a lot of time! Anyway, I've put some money in your account, certainly not $3 mil, but a goodly sum." - Erica isn't pleased that Fer isn't answering the phone. Her mother comes in with DELICIOUS YOGURT IN TWO FLAVORS. "Oh, this yogurt is so delicious!"
They laugh that Fer is probably sleeping late after a night of love with her recently resurfaced husband. "Oh, I hope so," Erica chirps, "I want her to be perfectly happy, as I am with Franco." Her mother enumerates Franco's virtues. "Yes, ma, he's perfect, and - he loves me!" - Fer goes to her old stamping grounds, looks at the tree where Eduardo watched her communion, remembers her kisses with Franco and his saying he wanted to marry her. "It was just words, lies."
- Martina and Fr/Ed visit Silvestre at his forge. She fusses, "Dad, you aren't supposed to be using your hammer!" "I'm old but not useless." They kiss, she leaves, he greets Fr/Ed and asks him for a little help. The actually helpful help Fr/Ed absent-mindedly provides is a giveaway...
"Don Silvestre, I'm investigating the history of a woman by the name of Ana Gregoria Bravo - Father Bosco said you'd know about her..."
Fr/Ed is half-heartedly pretending all these people are strangers to him but Silvestre points out: "In this village, there's only one person who could ever put his hand to my work, take metal from the fire - Eduardo Juarez! He was a good kid, and his mother, what a woman, I loved them a lot, a mountain." He teases Fr/Ed some more and then Fr/Ed confesses and they embrace. "I'm sorry about the lies." "Don't apologize, just tell me why you're hiding!"
They thrash through the various miseries, Fr/Ed sez: his mother dying and the sequestration of Lili and all, it's enough! It has to end!
We get this much of the story: Ana Gregoria worked at the hacienda until she was thrown out at the age of 15. The reason became evident: she was pregnant. She left town, she came back with dry, haunted eyes, and then there was a curse on the town, the cows didn't give milk and didn't give birth, then she left, and nobody knows what happened to her and her child.
"And who was the father of the child?" Fr/Ed naturally asks.
Sorry, you'll have to wait for some future episode to find the answer.

LOVED Fer yelling at Damn that he had a nerve asking how long he'd have to wait after she'd waited through his whole time hiding out in Vladi's apartment. I'm going to scream if Florecita doesn't soon get to tell Fer where Damn was hiding! AND, did you notice the jerk (who smiled benevolently at her when Fer was in the room) push Flor down. Grrrr!!
Thank you for the very clever recap and have a wonderful time in Paris, cherie.
The scene with Errika and her Mom was so irritating. Again with the product placement but especially irritating was Errika's incredulous statement that not only is Franco perfect (that part is true) but that HE LOVES HER. Hellooo, Errika. I think Franco told you last night that he likes you but doesn't love you. Maybe that's enough for Errika or is she completely deluded ala Gardenia.
Bon Voyage, Melinama. GinCA
I still don't get why it's going to make any difference where Damian was hiding, but I guess I'll find out when they have the great reveal.
We haven't seen Lili for the longest time, wonder if the actress had other commitments for a while...
I think Err's hopeful fantasies have melded with the decision she and Franco made to keep up the facade. Too bad for her.
Fer is suffering so much. I wish she could get a break.
I worked in Vienna for a year and when I got back to the States I was in the NY airport talking on the phone and next to me a man was speaking in Yiddish about financial matters and it was so like the Austrian accent I understood everything. Well, alright, I understood the words. I don't even understand financial talk in English.
Loved Barbara's glee when Damian called her rotten. She reveled in it! Hated the egregious product placement. " It has calcium! it will renew your energy! Oh mami, it's delicious!" Gag me with a spoon.
Thanks Melinama. We'll miss you but hope you have a marvelous time and will tell us all about it when you get back.
Thanks, Melinama! We'll miss you.

Fernanda yelling at Dam--loved it. She sure tells it like it is. I would have already divorced his sorry butt and wouldn't have to worry about it.
Dam pushing Flor--Not necessary but it made me dislike him even more. I think he'll back down if you stand up to him.
Erika--gag
Abora--zzzzzzzzz
Do you all think it is to farfetched for Dominga to be the mother of Artemio? It was just a thought that occurred to me last night. Not a spoiler.
But then again, anything is possible when you're dealing with the likes of him
When did Esteve get the shag carpet on his chest? Weird...& I found myself strangely fixated on it. The boys looked like dopes when they believe DDenia's little white lie but then again, everyone seems to lie with abandon and no one ever questions their veracity [beanie adjustment].
Babs was licking her chops last night, salivating over her machinations with Abora, Damn, Nanda, etc. etc. Lucero does evil very well but gak! plaid pants? Sorry, even if you're a size 2, they make your a$$ look like the back end of an elephant. Wardrobe! Stat!!!!!
Susanlynn: yeah, what the heck is up with the sundress office attire? I know I live in uptight New England but really, that is totally inappropriate for work. I guess Nanda loves yellow...it goes with her REALLY BIG SPY CAR.
Methinks Vlad may be a weak link in the milk conspiracy chain. He's a wee bit unstable & I get the feeling he might sing like a canary if he thinks his beloved Pris is in jeopardy. (no spoiler...just one of my very bad guesses)
Will Nanda find the old guy at the bottom of the hill? Where's the little girl & her goat? WTF??????????
Will someone please send Dolly & Err on a very long vacation or get them a job at QVC? They are so annoying & add absolutely nothing to the story, unless you count product placements.

:-/
p.s. we had 3 days of sunshine & it's raining again so apologies for my b!tchiness.
Susanlynn, I think you may be right about the link between Artemio and Gonzo. And though it may seem lame, it's no lamer than most TN motivation. Anyway, I can't wait to see whether you're right.
When their eyes met and the movement stopped I think she saw him as kissing her. As the conversation moved and she said things the wrong way and him turning her words back on her it mirrored the marriage dance analogy Counselors refer to.
There were also the times he snatched her closer bouncing her against his body and speaking anger thru that closed teeth smile. And when she pounded his chest surprising herself and him too, he slowly looked at the place where she had touched him. But this time his look was different. Her look of apology, his stepping out of the dance formation. That was quite a dance.
But the cruelty I think was on her part. She smiled over her husband's shoulder seeming to curl into his neck while looking into Franco's hurt angry eyes.
I'm loving this Director and the actors that pulled that off.
"Gonzo is confused."
Simple. Eloquent. Funny.
Hurrah for Gardenia. Bold. Brazen. Simple. Just lie. She certainly has picked up the knack of lying. Well done pretty lady.
Hurrah for Nanda. Even before Babs officially clued him in, I think Nanda made herself rather clear to Damien,"You'll not be getting any of this."
It occurred to me after Syl's story about Anna and her curse, could our licensed bruja be Anna, now reduced to reading cards?
Carlos
"Where's the little girl & her goat? WTF??????????" . . . . . Ohhhhh,,, Too funny! BuaHahahahaaaa
Maggarita - you must be new to telenovelas. Slutty attire runs rampant in telenovelaland's corporate offices. If they ever have casual Fridays, I'm afraid they'd just show up in their underwear.
I do love the creative ways they clip the ID onto those outfits, though. There's not always a lot of material to work with!

;-)
And yes, doesn't the little girl live with the old man? Surely she'd have notifed someone he's been missing for a few days.
I think we'll be seeing plent of fireworks in the future from Erika when she finds out that Franco's true love is Fernanda. As for Aurora, she could turn into a witch herself and I wouldn't find her interesting.
Jackie
Denia's lie- she didn't do it very convincingly, but the boys fell for it. Unlike her other apologist (Carlos), I'm not cheering her for it. We know that suspecting Fer of being the late postman is going to cause all kinds of convolutions and contortions in the plot.
Sendel amazes us again, smiling at Any?balls like he did, pushing Flor over with barely a touch. It's really a good thing for Dam that Babs' plan is for the seduction of Fer to be done by Franco, cause it would be an exercise in futility for Dam, and only frustration as a reward.
I loved Babs dancing around tormenting Dam- the evil coquette! I also wondered about the plaid pants, but the view from behind looked pretty good, regardless.
When Fer was thinking, juxtaposing the memory of Eddy with the striped-sweater-over-the-shoulders kissing scene with Franco, I thought for sure she was going to have an slap herslef on the forehead revelation that they were one and the same.
I was really enjoying the scene with Silvestre and Eddy when my girlfied called, so missed a lot of what was going on there, so especial thanks for filling that in.
It appears to me that Arty is the bastard son of Gonzo's papa. I think that Dominga was just a lucky girl that was asked to care for Babs' daughter, Aurora. What the tie between Babs and Arty is, escapes me.
And , yes, I did like th e pink tie...
Now is there any question about Damian's love for Fern? My only question is does she need to fear his temper could become physical. She seemed low key about him knocking things around on her desk.
And he had trouble accept her word that she didn't want to talk to him just then. I thought he said something about her owing him an explanation as to why she doesn't want to go on a honeymoon. He got nerve! Where with whom you been husband?!
CLK
When they showed Barb, all I could think of what the Saturday Night song by the Bay City Rollers. Haven't been able to get it out of my head!
I hope Fr/Ed is smart enought to realize Fernanda has no clue who he is!
Carlos
Damian hiding at Vlad's is important. Vlad works for GL & Fernanda must be wondering what he is up to. Damian had him get the job there to spy for him.
I think Dominga & Artemio are too close in age for her to be his mother. I suspect Gonzo's dad, fits in & gives some reason for the hate & destruction business. I wonder if Gonzo knows that Artemio exists?
At least we have a time frame on this, Damian said it's been a month & they haven't had the miel de luna.
Why would Fr/Ed & Esteve believe Gardenia, after all she had all of Soledad's stuff. She could have lied & said that the box was just found at Jacinto's.
I worry for Lili also, probably Babs or Damian will follow Fernanda to the condo, thinking it's Fr/Ed's & Fer's love nest.
Carlos
¡Santo Dios!. Santiago doesn't trust Babs, so why isn't he smart enough to follow them & put a stop to the insanity.
Maybe Lili is the most sane!
I'm starting to enjoy Gonzo's bewildered looks. He is always a few pages behind.

I've often said Susanlynn should write bodice rippers...now I think you should team up with her.
Gotta go now. You all can put on your beanies. I need some ice water!
I say Gonzo doesn't have a clue as to Arty's existance. That would require a minimal awareness beyond arm's length.
So, people change with their hair styles on these shows. Nanda is wearing more revealing clothes and has a nice curly bouncy do. Does this mean she and Franco might give in before they are legally wed?
Wonderful recap, I especially liked Dam's "pixie smile" and Anibal "squeaks" really, really funny. Hope you enjoy your Paris sojourn!
Bonney, great description on the dance. I think that most of that part of the scene was impromptu, not due to the actions of the director, it was just too good. We'll never know I guess.
Those were really odd plaid pants, pegged at the ankles along with Nanda's yellow Florida sundress at the office. The wardrobe people deserve a award for creating such a great number of strange costumes for the female characters in this TN. In some other TNs, like La Usupadora, the actors wore "normal" clothing in their various roles.
I thought Nanda was going to check on Lili as well, but I'm glad she and EdFr will be able to perhaps "talk" things out at their hidden hacienda.

I doing my research to buy or rent Alborada and Pasion, I saw him with Gabriela Spanic in LU on the advertising stills and he had the fattest, youngest face. Yes, he is a little old for this part. Older men are more accepted cast in younger parts than an older woman would be. Oh well!

Someone asked why Vlad and his friends at Prolasa (the higher up guy, and the fall guy, Jaime) are taking the rap for something they didn't do. Actually, Vlad did do it (he and Damian had Pris drop off the papers on Jaime's desk). And by Jaime "admitting" to his affair with Flor, he looks repentent to the head of Prolasa ("Rolando"?, Pris's brother), and thus the only one who gets in trouble is Flor. This way, Flor does get fired, and Vlad can stay at Lactos and help Damian.
And of course, Flor was so tongue tied that she never got out what she saw, and now, maybe no one will believe her, after it's "proven" she was guilty.

“And Fernanda has caught Babs in another big lie about Lili being with Dr O & he wanting money. More money for the Cayman Islands.” I can’t imagine Fer sitting by and letting Barb make off with more money. She and FrEd need to resume their collaboration to figure this out. Together they have enough pieces to put it all together.
Dave and Carlos, I’m still a member of the DDenia club, and looks have nothing to do with it in my case—she’s not my type, Anonymous. She’s not as divisive others we know and love. And I like the little spark she adds to the story line. The eavesdropping and mettling servant is a typical novella device to complicate the plot a little more. Her love for Ed, big mouth, and perkiness server her well in this role.
Yellow is my favorite color and I wear a lot of it, so I liked Fer's dress. Maybe GL has the same problem we have in my small office: inefficient air conditioning. On hot days, the females in my office sometimes approach "slutty office wear" for survival reasons.
I don't think Fr/Ed and Esteve doubted Gardenia's lie. They are very frank with each other at all times, thus would have said so. They also immediately moved on to Fer as a possible suspect. Gardenia looked very charming telling her lie, but the closeup of the camera showed a bit of shifty eye movement. And maybe she had her fingers crossed behind her back.
Fernanda is very astute. If she finds out from Flor that Damn stayed with Vladi, she will start to put things together about Vladi's presence at GL. Which is exactly why Damn won't tell her.
I really enjoyed the blacksmith scene. Fr/Ed was unconsciously doing what he'd done as a boy, completely forgetting that Franco Santoro would not be able to bring the correct tools on cue or retrieve the red hot metal piece.

Carlos
She arrived with Damian with a box under her arm????? She was watched all night by Babs, Fr/Ed or Damian. When would she be able to go to Fr/Ed/s bedroom with the box? Up until now, Esteve has had the most sense, but it sure slipped with that one. And what would she even be doing with letters that she wrote to Eduardo, she wrote them & kept them at home? She told Eduardo in the last one she would stop writing because she never heard from him. The writers need beanies with that one.
I don't know how they could NOT suspect Gardenia, she had Soledad's stuff & they are clearly not smitten like the men here.
Anon 3:24, I am curious who does do it for you. TG not every woman loves FC.

I was looking at Esteve's chest hair too. I didn't mean to, but I was trying to make out the color. To see if it was red. I couldn't tell.
How long has he been combing his hair to the side instead of forward? It looks a lot more normal that way!
I was thinking that Dominga might have been Artemio's half-sister. (Maybe Soledad was, too.) He didn't shed a tear over Dominga's death, but then, he already seemed to have the idea that she wasn't a great caretaker at that point; he didn't trust her.
That day when Artemio showed up at the house, Aurora thought maybe he was a gangster that Dominga met at the cockfights. Maybe that's how he met her, if he's not her brother. Not sure that's the best way to pick out a caregiver for a child you care about, though.
Oh, maybe she's his half-sister AND she owed him money (if he is a bookie of some sort, which seems ikely) and that's why he picked her to look after Aurora - to work off her debt.
Regarding the old guy who got kicked down the hill, I thought the little girl was a granddaughter or something... maybe she just comes to visit, and her visiting day hasn't come up yet?
I think the view from behind was the motivation behind putting women in plaid pants to begin with... and probably also the reason plaid pants fell out of fashion. :)
Chest hair? I'm all for it...in men. It's the differences that make the opposite sex interesting, no?
As for the plaid pants, I think Lucero has the figure to carry them off. I'd look like a double-wide trailer, but she looks cute. Sure glad she doesn't live next door.
Fer's yellow sundress was cute, but not suitable office attire. She could have faked it with a little jacket or bolero. Yes, the pink tie was good on Damian.
I took the high road and chose to be amused rather than annoyed at the yogurt product placement. So obvious and intrusive.
Sounds like Artemio's father could also be Gonzo's father. Dominga could be a friend of Ana's, maybe she babysat Artemio as a child.
On Sun. night, Cary Grant was on screen in "To Catch a Theif." He looked so suave and debonair, I was thinking "there's Franco Santoro!"
