Llena de Amor #79 (Mex. 84) Thu 12/2/10 Stuck on stupid, two years and counting.

Let’s revisit a bit of last night before we blast off into space cadet land - Bad stuff at Ilitia's. She's being a Bridezilla about the colors the wedding planner picked out for the tables. She wanted beige and burgundy, this idiot brought her vanilla and old rose. Out! Bye! Come back with better stuff. Chauffeur and maid watch this with squinchy disapproving faces. Bridezilla doesn't notice. She wants them to fetch her stylist and the poor wretch designing her wedding cake. But wait! She's smiling. A huge bouquet has arrived. Joy. It must be from Emanuel. She opens the note.

And a sinister note it is indeed. "I'm nearby. And I have a very special wedding present for you. Mauricio Fonseca."

Ooooh. Creepy. Muñeca, who is hovering by her daughter's side, looks perturbed. So does Ilitia.

Thank you Judy. Now on with the show…

Blender head Axel instructs Nereida to lay off Delicia. Paula kicks Nereida out of the kitchen. Ha, double smack down. Axel asks Delicia if she remembers the kiss they once shared. Two years ago? Or maybe it was the other day. Whatever, he’s feelin’ it and he knows she feels it too. He moves in for another beso and, hey, Delicia grabs the frying pan! Does she read our comments? She’ll have none of it and leaves him alone, frustrated, and ready to stick his head in the blender again.

We circle the globe and end up in Tenerife with Mari and Horny Jorge in a club or restaurant. She worries about Tia and he orders champagne. She wants to talk about work and he wants to talk about them, well about her specifically and her goofy glasses in general. (Just kidding about that last part.)

He blathers on about her creativity, blah blah, he’s in love with her. She "admires" him. Uh oh for him. Love is a closed chapter in her life she says.

Cut to Eman and Andres discussing El Lirio de Plata in all the headlines but Eman’s all morose and “tired” he says. “Look brother”, says Andres (closed caps say “Mira broder”), “you’re still in love with La Gorda, right?” Eman scoffs unconvincingly.

A spiffy-looking Netty is exhausted from her fame. Some stage hand tells here that a man is there to see her. She’s too tired but her agent (used to be her lawyer) says aw c’mon, could be a bigwig. (He could look for himself, but noooo…) She's surprised, but we aren’t, that Emiliano enters with a deep “Hello Netty” that could melt the Lambert Glacier.

Oh gack, creepy cacophonic music designed to induce insanity warns us of a Gretel sighting. She hides behind the door as Bernardo falls for the oldest trick in the book. When he comes in the cellar to annoy her she pushes him down and gets him in a strangle hold. It took her two years to figure this out? Oh well, she is under some amount of stress.

Carlota moans and groans to God not to take her before she finds Gretel. Oh goody and surprise surprise, the maid happily announces a family visitor. Tia is horrified to see the deadly Fedra. (Serves you right you old bat.) Fedra says she’s there for a funeral and she’s going to help it along. She’ll make sure Carlota has the most amazing burial ever, bwahahahaha!

Back in the cellar Bernardo gets the upper hand, ties Gretel up and throws her back in the empty hot tub. She starts her muttering mantra and he whispers to himself , “poor girl, two long years in here and she’s completamente loca. LOCA!!” Mira el burro hablando del orejas. (Pop quiz, remember Judy's dicho?)

Another surprise (not), Emiliano’s the one who’s been sending Netty the flowers and gifts. He tells her she’s more beautiful than ever. Netty knows, the journalists told her so and she’s enjoying her best time right now. She flips her hair coquettishly over her shoulder, you go girl! Emi’s stricken; his bold announcement did not make her melt at his feet. He says she acts like she doesn’t know him. Netty announces she’s exhausted and asks him to kindly leave her alone.

He goes toward the door but instead of leaving he shuts it. He wants to tell her the he hasn’t been able to forget her and…we go to break.

Carlota is gasping and still trying to push her weight around but she’s a toothless tiger. Fedra baits her, sits on her, and gleefully threatens her. Carlota will sign the papers that Fedra brought or no pills, she waves them just out of Car’s reach. They are interrupted momentarily by the maid but Fedra fakes her out with a faux fire drill and sends her downstairs to make some tea before taunting Tia with the flair of a flamenco dancer.

Emiliano: I couldn’t leave Fedra because she’s sick. Netty: Sick is what I feel when I look at you. Take your stupid flowers and give them to your snake of a wife. Emiliano: You might have thrown me from your bed but I know you haven’t thrown me from your heart.

This next bit is priceless. Fedra is literally lounging on top of Carlota and still waving the pills around. She presses Carlota’s chest and puts the contract in front of her face. Sign and she’ll give Carlota her pills. Life or death?

Ilitia and Muñeca have a visitor. It’s Brandon and he’s come to visit Muñeca not Ilitia. (Ilitia pouts sexily.) Not to worry, he only wants to know if El Lirio de Plata has made a donation?

Cut to Emanuel and Andres. (This makes me wonder if Eman is El Lirio. You know, the scene cut and all.) They are doing shots and Eman tells him duh, it’s all about La Gordita. He feels a chapter of his life hasn’t closed. Andres logically asks if Eman still thinks of La Gorda then why is he with Ilitia? Apparently it’s a matter of convenience, she was at his side after the accident and thanks to her he can walk again. Andres, again logically, suggests that it’s because of Eman that Eman can walk again. Eman admits it was his desire to go to Spain to get Mari that made him determined to walk. But she never answered his calls or emails boo hoo.

At the same time that Eman talks about not forgetting Mari, over in Tenerife Jorge tells Mari he knows she hasn’t forgotten Eman. He wants to help her forget everything she has suffered. He whips out a ring, proudly presents it to her, and asks her to marry him.

Suddenly-stupid Carlota has signed her death warrant, er I mean the contract, and wails this is her punishment. No Car, I think your punishment will be when your purple hair goes up in flames at the gates of hell. She whimpers to Fedra that she can’t die before finding Gretel and telling her about her true parents. She begs to know where Fedra has hidden her. Frisky Fedra’s in the mood for more games and she gives Carlota a choice. Does she want to know where Gretel is or does she want her pills? Fedra dumps all the pills out and starts shuffling them around the table while Carlota writhes around some more for effect. Then plops down dead.

Good riddance, mutters Fedra, I hope you’re burning in hell. Then she proceeds to serenade her dead auntie with a snippet of Adios a Mama Carlota. She yells for the maid and her tune turns into a death wail and she fakes the tragic figure beautifully.

Mari cuts to the chase, she tells Jorge she doesn’t love him. He’s sure she’ll never be ready until she’s completely over Eman. She’s tired and goes to her room. ‘Nuff said. Hopefully this is the last we’ll see of Jorge.

Brandon interrogates Muñeca about where she got the money to save the orphanage. Ilitia brags that her baby, her Emanuel, hired a super lawyer. Brandon wonders where Eman got the dough for such an expensive endeavor. Ilitia embarrasses Muñeca and the rest of us by pointing out they have money to spare; what Brandon would spend on a kilo of tortillas, their equivalent would be to buy a house or a car. Lots of eye rolling going on in the dollhouse. Muñeca admits that the money to save the home came from El Lirio de Plata.

Again the cut to Eman after the mention of El Lirio de Plata. He and Andres have practically the same conversation, angst, tears, I can’t get her out of my head.

Brandon tells them the orphanage won’t be endangered as long as Muñeca cooperates. She doesn’t know much, only that the money always arrives in a case. She conveniently leaves the young’uns to steam up the room.

And they do. After small talk about Ilitia getting married (“I’m going to be SO happy because I’m so in LUUUUV!”) Brandon comments she’s got a funny idea of love. Remember THE night? She tells him byeeee. He gives an A-1 performance of the new and very improved Brandon kiss as we go into break. These kids clearly need a few minutes alone.

Mari is painting walls green while wearing high heels. The tight black pants are fine but heels? While painting? Jorge, also a trendy dresser, joins in to help and reminds her how much he’s in love with her. I think. I actually can’t understand him at all. Whatever he said I know it’s annoying so give it a rest dude.

After several minutes of kissing Ilitia decides to become indignant and slap Brandon. He tells her to calm down, he didn’t want anything serious with a woman like her, whose obsessed with the latest style, so pretty on the outside but so empty inside. She says he’s dying of envy.

Muñeca returns with the case. OMG it’s un cofre!! Not another telenovela with a cofre! Loophole, she calls it a case so we’re safe for now. Brandon observes that it has the seal of the Lirio de Plata. Yes the money is the salvation of all those orphans but he’s the authority and he has to confiscate it. He sincerely wishes Ilitia a happy marriage and leaves. Ilitia looks like she’s going to cry.

Her phone rings and it’s Malicio who snickers that he hopes she liked the flowers because it’s only the beginning. He’s going to give her a wedding gift so big she’ll never forget it in her entire life. Oh, a BIG present? Well then maybe it’s not his, ahem, member like I originally thought.

Alex is all dressed up for a night out on the town. Delicia whistles and comments on his guaponess. He tries to entice her out but she reminds him that Fedra would kill her and throw her bones to the dogs. Oh gack, Lorena arrives to pick him up. He’s still with that skank? Little dude’s been stuck on dumb for two years. Just like everyone else I guess.

Jorge’s one of those stylish European types who looks put-together even with his shirttail hanging out and green paint on his face. Damn him. Mari’s phone rings. It’s Almodena calling to tell her the tragic news that Carlota died.

Eman’s lumbering around in a dark room. He unrolls a sketch of his beloved Mari and tries to imagine how sad life will be without her in it, without holding or kissing her. “Why aren’t you here with me? Why?! What did I do to drive you away?”

Back in Spain Mari has flung herself across Carlota’s coffin. Luckily Jorge is there, STILL, to comfort her. Mari demands that Almodena tell her what happened. Mari doesn’t understand, when she left, the doc said Carlota would be fine if she took her pills. Almo says she was fine up until her daughter in law Fedra visited her from Mexico. A great wailing and gnashing of teeth follows. Curses, foiled by Fedra again!

Fedra struts into her demented domicile and reports to her beloved estupidos Emiliano and Eman that Gretel shows no improvement. She’s lucid one day then loca then next, lucida y loca. At any rate her place is here with them for Eman’s wedding. Emiliano announces that the doctors in Mexico are just fine and he wants to bring Gretel home as soon as possible! Delicia looks stunned, probably because it’s the first intelligent thing she’s heard come out of his mouth in two years or more.

Down in the wine cellar Bernardo amuses himself by badgering Gretel some more. She goes off on sighs and hopes, he’ll come for me one day. Bernardo plays a silent violin behind her. He’ll rescue me and take me out of here, he hasn’t forgotten me. Bernardo tells her he’s probably married and forgotten all about her. She fantasizes about her happy times with Oliver. Somebody please get this girl out of the cellar!

Oliver is even more pathetic. Instead of using his cop skills to sleuth out the truth he’s busy getting drunk and demanding musica in the local cantina. He talks some guy into loaning him money for the jukebox so he can get maudlin and pathetic and sing badly while staggering around annoying the other patrons.

Over at the police station the big boss is beside himself because Oliver Rosales is once again AWOL. Brandon says he just needs time. Boss says Rosales just isn’t the same, he’s a stranger, it’s going on two years now and he’s going to suspend Oliver indefinitely. Brandon thinks it’s odd that Gretel has disappeared for two years. Change of topic. Brandon says another person who is missing is Gerard Torres, the mechanic who operated the helicopter that Mari mom was traveling in. Boss says they haven’t been able to find him all this time and he’s probably 4 meters under the earth.

Mari gets all over poor Almodena’s case for letting Fedra visit Carlota. After terrifying Almodena she demands to know exactly what happened. Almo tells her that Fedra wanted to be alone with Carlota and said she would give her the pills. Then she told Almo to go make some tea. Mari freaks and says Fedra killed her aunt! Almodena practically has a heart attack herself out of guilt. After ensuring that Almoden will be guilt-ridden her entire life, Mari finally gives the poor maid a hug. And that's how our episode ended tonight.

Mañana: Fedra whoops it up with Bernardo because she has it all. Mari vows that Fedra will know exactly who Marianela is.

Adiós a Mamá Carlota = one of the most famous Mexican protest songs, you can read a little about it here. The article starts in English but most of it is in Spanish, so good practice!

Representante = agent (Netty's ex-lawyer)
Estoy agotada = I’m exhausted (what Netty is)
Hasta nunca = good riddance
Lana = dough, money (Lit. wool)
Estuche = case
Cofre = chest
Cuanto antes = ASAP

Good morning Sylvia, I'm up early to go check on a patient in the hospital. While waiting for the Lovely Linda to use up all the hot water, I had a chance to read your recap and it's truly a gem. Thanks. Clearly you enjoyed Fedra's taunting of Carlota every bit as much as I did as evidenced by my favorite (of many) line:

"No Car, I think your punishment will be when your purple hair goes up in flames at the gates of hell."

Fedra was in top form last night. I know I should feel at least a little guilty for reveling in such evil (do you?) but actually I found it exhilarating.

Loved your delicate handling of the Gretel thing. For a moment or two I thought she might prevail and get the heck outta there, but noooo. I do think that it will be very soon. They can only do so many scenes of her in that wine cellar... unless Fedra allow her to start giving tutorials on the finer points of wine appreciation there in the cellar. Hey... perhaps Judy could attend (fruit juice gone bad... indeed).

Brandon needs to abandon his search for el Lirio de Plata and concentrate on bringing to justice whoever it is who is doing Axel's hair. Now there's a crime affecting us all.

Oops, looks like Linda's done in the shower, Ill be back with more later. Once again, thanks for the super recap.

Carlos

Sylvia, from title to vocabulary, a delightful read! You do have such a way with words! So many great lines, so little time.....Thank you so much!

"Emiliano enters with a deep “Hello Netty” that could melt the Lambert Glacier." LOL! What a lovely way to describe César's lyrical voice (lyrical in a baritone sort of way)!

"When he comes in the cellar to annoy her she pushes him down and gets him in a strangle hold. It took her two years to figure this out?" LOL - the first signs of brain cells clicking off again. Too bad he got out of the lock. I was cheering her on and sooo disappointed.

As mean as Carlota has been, she can't hold a candle to Fedra. Fedra dug her own hole in hell deeper with offing Carlota. Whether anyone ever proves she threw the final blows or not, we know that telenovela rules will prevail and Fedra will get extra bad punishment at the end for preventing the old gal from putting Gretel back with Max and Paula in the end. Fedra didn't personally kill Eva, but now she has at least two deaths on her hands.

Well, I'm off to get a fasting blood test. Dr. Carlos, no doubt you'll be happy to hear this patient is finally compliant with her doc's orders from 8 weeks ago.

Jeanne

Brilliant recap! Lots of fun, love the title! As always, I kept on laughing as I read.

Fedra offing Carlota was Fedra at her most horrendous best. As nasty and horrible as Carlotta was for what she did to Gretel/Max/Paula, Carlotta at least regretted it and was trying to fix it. (Probably in not the most effective way, but this is telenovela-land.) To me, "trying to fix it" (and feeling sincere regret for it) go a long way. So I expect she'd fare better in the afterlife compared to Fedra! Fedra has an extra special corner reserved for her in Hell! LOL.

The actress who plays Fedra is just brilliant, by the way. I tend to love the villainesses the best in these telenovelas! And of course the galáns are always lovely too.

Oh please, relieve Gretel of her suffering soon! This is ridiculous! My beanie is pretty forgiving most of the time, but PLEASE! It's always slipping off during the Gretel scenes.

The Lirio de Plata thing is going to be an interesting storyline. I didn't anticipate anything like it being included in the storyline. This show is so bizarre. (I love it!)

Wow Miss Sylvia...what a fun read. I loved all the nomenclature:

Blender Head Axel
Horny Jorge
Malicio

and like Jeanne, was entranced by your description of Emiliano's voice as capable of melting the Lambert Glacier. Amen to that.

Especially enjoyed the link to the song "Adios Mama Carlota" and the info about it. That's all new to me and very interesting.

So...you were hitting on all cylinders lady...informative, entertaining and flat out funny.

Oh, and I think you're on to something...Emanual knows about the Lirio de Plata. And clearly has a lot of time on his hands. Would be great fun if it turns out he's the mysterious Robin Hood. After all, he IS the son of the Original...no?

Also glad that you too had trouble understanding Jorge. What a mush mouth.

Good morning Sylvia. Brilliant and hysterical morning read.

"After ensuring that Almoden will be guilt-ridden her entire life". That was really my WTH moment last night. I mean, I get Mari was upset, but man, she was down-right cruel to that poor woman. How the heck was she supposed to know about the evilness that is Fedra? is this the "new" Mari?

I am beyond disgusted with the Gretel scenario. It now borders on the unrealistic, sadistic and non-sensical. Gretel is a bright girl, all I kept thinking last night, well thru several nights, is "take one of those stupid wine bottles and globber the creep over the head." I'm with Sweeney and all, this now needs to move on, get her out somehow. I think she will be the perfect candidate to make Fedra's life hell if she can sneak out. maybe Delicia will remember the noises from the cellar?

Poor Eman...if you only knew what "you did". Since it looks like Mari is on her way back to wreak havoc on Fedra, hopefully she spills to him that she thinks that he "poisoned" her. But I have a feeling she won't and this whole thing will just go in circles for awhile. From the previews, the reactions and looks when she appears will be priceless!!!

(And I will now relax and replay that entrance from Emi in my head again. That voice just soothes my frazzled nerves. )

Happy Friday all

Last night I had pretty well come to the conclusion that Emanuel is LdP and it looks as though you guys are also thinking the same way. However, does he know enough of the details of the story to be doing this?

Since LdP actually leaves a LdP behind at the scenes of his crimes, why doesn't Brandon check with the only silversmith in DF and get the the name of whomever is ordering them?

Isn't it telling that Emiliano waits until Fedra is OOT before making his move on Letty? Maybe he's aware of her surgical skills.

Jeanne, only 8 weeks ago? Why the rush?

Carlos

Good morning all. TGIF and thank you for your comments. This was one of the funnest episodes ever to recap. No way did I do Fedra justice but it was fun to try. Carlos, I just let myself go free with the enjoying of Fedra's taunting. When she was singing Mama Carlota I just know she didn't get the words quite right (as always). I think she said "Adios Mama Carlota, con tus narices en el aire" or something like that but I couldn't quite be sure. Goodbye Mama Carlota with your nose in the air does seem like something Fedra would say.

Judy, the more I think about it he more I feel Eman must be El Lirio. He's the son of, he's been working out a lot so he's very fit, he's so aimless about everything else in his life he needs a goal, and something I just thought of, it really accentuates his rivalry with Brandon. ITA with Sweeeney, this story line that came out of the blue is fun and a wonderful diversion from the regular telenovela cliched dreck. Carlos, when did the little logical details ever stop these writers? Maybe Tio Max has been informing Eman; does he know about El Lirio?

Off topic, I won't be able to do next Thursday's recap and since I will be away for the weekend I won't be able to do it Friday or the weekend. Can someone fill in for me or trade days? I could do any other day next week. Let me know.

Sylvia...I can trade days with you next week. And happy to do so.

By the way, I'm pretty much on board with Sweeney that Carlota's Hell began in this Life, with the recognition of the horror of her baby trade plus being emotionally tortured by Fedra and dying without the last rites administered by a priest (surely important to a traditionalist like Carlota). And...if the near-death accounts are to be believed, she'll get a Life Review which includes feeling in her own heart and mind what the people she hurt actually experienced. Given Paula's sorrow, Gretel's torturous childhood and unspeakable present, that will be extremely powerful.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that our repentant Carlota can operate like some sort of guardian angel from "el más allá". We sure need one at this point!

Thanks Judy. I'll do Wed and you can do Thurs.

Yes, I'm sure Carlota will be able to redeem herself by being Gretel's guardian angel. If so then she will certainly be busy trying to protect her from Fedra!

Oooh! Great idea Judy. Wouldn't it be fantastic if El Fantasma de Carlota teleported from Espana to DF and guided Gretel to freedom? She could be more useful in death than she was in life. The ghost of Daniela is doing that pretty well over on Fantasma de Elena. I would totally forgive Carlota for her snobbish stupidity in life if that's the way things developed. I kept shaking my head at her stupidity for signing that new will. What made her think that Fedra would actually give her those pills if she signed? Hello, by signing your wealth over to her you've just given her every reason to see you dead. The woman didn't even die with guts. Just like a RdT. I hope that Mari inherited some gutsy common sense genes from her mother's side, because the RdT's are spineless. Does this now mean that Mari does not get Carlota's money? And what about her own money from her father? Is he of age to inherit that yet?

Looks like Eman, who for sure looks like he's LdP, inherited some pirate genes from his real father. But I don't think the original gave to the poor after he stole from the rich.

Sylvia- You had me giggling throughout this recap. Fedra was in top form and you captured it marvelously. This actress looks like she's having a ball doing this. Her baddie in Sorti was pretty bad too, but she was often snivelling and sucking up. In this, she gets to be over the top perverse and in control.

Carlos - well, it was the second time she ordered the labs.....I let the first one lapse. I could whine and moan and say I'm too busy, on the road out of town on an average of once weekly and often more, and that would be true. But, it's still not a good excuse for non-compliance, you reckon? (Do you hear a PSA for following doctor's orders?)

I went in right after I posted and for some reason the Med Center in the large midwestern city where I live was jam-packed. Hunted about a half hour for parking in the garage, sat and waited for the lab an hour, and took more than 10 minutes getting out of the garage while other folks slowed the traffic to wait for parking themselves. All that, plus it's a half hour over and a half hour back....shot three hours of the morning. Gee whiz, was I hungry!

Okay, now I have that out of my system. Next stop, the PT that my rheumatologist gave me the scrip for in August..... ;-)

Jeanne

Sylvia, you do have a wizardly way with words. Super entertaining. "Blender head Axel" really cracked me up...as did Carlos's comment that his hair is a crime affecting us all.

I agree Eman must be the Lirio de Plata. He's heard the stories from Bernardo, he has an interest in helping the orphanage, he has access to the wealthy people who are being robbed, and he's frustrated and in a mood to act out. Plus he must have inherited a few pirate talents.

Jorge is now in the opening credits, so I don't think we have seen the last of him by far. Amazing how he and Mari got so much green paint on their hands and faces and none on their clothes. Who the heck goes from "Hey, I like you" to "Will you marry me?" in one conversation? What answer did he really expect?

I was hoping Spiderus might "accidentally" let Gretel escape from the cellar. For a moment there it looked like he really pitied her, and he can't be enjoying visiting the cellar and dealing with the filth. Sure, she might accuse him and Fedra to the police, but they've been accused of crimes before and gotten away with it. With Gretel they would unfortunately probably be able to claim she's crazy and just imagines she's been locked up, and they haven't seen her in two years. So he should really let her go.

Oliver is depressing me, but then at the same time he made me laugh, hitching up his tighty whities over his shirt during his drunken warbling.

Thanks for your recap Sylvia. Though I have been vexed w/Carlota, Fedra is a mess. The Gretel thing clouds so much that I couldn't really enjoy her tormenting Car but your line "No Car, I think your punishment will be when your purple hair goes up in flames at the gates of hell" gave me quite a laugh.

I'm glad Julia & Vivi were right about Axel & Delicia but really...he's still with that skank. All the men in that family are worthless!!

With all of Eman's blubbering I kept thinking wasn't Andres at the party and doesn't he why Mari hates Eman? Nevertheless it is ironic Eman wants to marry Ilitia when she's (part of) the cause of Mari leaving.

And though I'm not a fan of Ilitia, the thought of her being harassed by Agent O for 2 years vexed me all over again.

Does Andre actually know what happened in the studio after the party? He left before Ilitia took over, but then he was back to help escort Emanuel home. I wonder whether he actually knew what Ilitia and Kristel had planned and he helped them because he didn't want his buddy to marry his fatty cousin, or if he had no clue, thought it was just a party, and Ilitia called him to come back and help haul the drunky away.

So really no one has done a thing in two years, except Mari and Emanuel? Oh, and Netty and Doris. Is Kristel still hanging on thinking Agent O will marry her, but that hasn't happened in all this time?

I was hoping Lorena would vanish into the ether. Can't she hook up with Alfredo instead?

Sylvia, I laughed out loud at the title. You gently fed us sugar to aid in our digestion of the medicine in the form of this distasteful, dreary episode. The vocabulary was great and much appreciated.

I always love your recaps. A few of my favorite lines: "He blathers... She "admires"... Uh oh for him" amd "Eman scoffs unconvincingly".

I did wince when Fedra was pounding on Carlota's chest and wanted her stop. But, I have to be honest and consistent and say that I had no sympathy for Carlota. Should I be ashamed? :(

A few embedded embers are still faintly stirring for Brandon and Ilitia. Now that she's been forwarned about Mauricio's intentions, will she tell her secret swain or live to regret she didn't? Ack.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Diana

I just realized, we're 3 for 3.

Begoña... gone

Caiman... later Gator

Carlota... standing at the Gates of Hell

I think Mauricio should top the next list.

Jeanne, are you sure you don't live in Houston?

Carlos

Brilliant recap Sylvia. I'm also beginning to think our Eman is the mysterious El Lirio de Plata everytime the camera cut to him after each mention of the name. I guess the new, improved, Mari is ruthless and no more nice girl.

I was hoping Gretel would finally escape her imprisonment but she was thwarted again.

Fedra for sure reserved her one way ticket to hell with offing Carlota. Tonight's show looks interesting with Mari's return to Mexico and everyones surprised reaction to her new appearance.

Carlos - LOL at your hit list, and no, not Houston. I have a cousin there at the U, but not me. Drove there once to visit a student teacher while I supervised for a university teacher training program and decided that was waaaayyyy too crowded for me. ;-) Had to fly in, drive to the school and drive back to the airport at the end of the day - two times in a semester. How do you DO that traffic?

I tried to send you an offline email, but you might not have gotten it. Volunteered to help you and Kris if you both find a Friday that won't work, and if the stars align and I have a good weekend with no school events, etc.

Jeanne

Julia, IMO there is way more airspace in Kristel's brain than even in Ilitia's. Who in their right mind (or who actually has a mind) would think that Mauri is a good catch, especially after all this? So, that's why she's still hanging on for Mauri. She's a space cadet, and a mean one at that. (I always thought space cadets were sweet but a tad slow, simpering little naïve things, but apparently not).

Jeanne

Sylvia – just wonderful! I got a big hoot out of “Malicio.” That will probably be his name from now on!

If Eman wanted to contact Mari so bad, why didn’t he go to Spain? His family knows she’s there with Tia Carlota, and he’s got the $$ for a plane ticket. He could wait outside her place and pop out from the shrubbery.

Well, Brandon’s kissing has improved, but I think there’s still room for more improvement. He sticks his lips out like a little kid.

Sylvia, Sorry to be so late. Just got in and have to give you kudos for a classic recap. It was hilarious. My favorite: blender hair Axel. I agree that the actress playing Fedra is having a ball with this. I found the scene with Tia Carlota hard to watch at the time, but looking at it as high camp makes all the difference.

You guys are made of sterner stuff than I am so I may not watch the show but I will continue with enjoying these terrific recaps.

Jackie

Schoolmarm, Fedra is responsible for 3 deaths - Carlotta, Eva,, and the grandmother at Netty's house. Granted Bernardo did the last but it was at her bidding. I'm having a hard time staying with this TN because of the rampant evil that is Fedra. I don't find her methods exhilarating and it's scary that the actress can portray this evil so well. I know I'm going against the norm here, but the abuse and downright nastiness makes many of the scenes hard to swallow. Lorenzo is a bad egg, no doubt, but he is not resident evil like Fedra, Bernardo, and Mauricio. In fact, I'd add Kristel to that list. Let's hope they all get a really, really bad end because anything less would be unsatisfying. Poor Marianela, Fedra is hell-bent (I mean that literally) on taking everything away from her. Wait until Emanuel learns what a conniving and murdering witch his mother is. Wonder where his devotion will be then. He says he's trying to expose Fedra's plans, but I'm afraid in the end, he'll side more with his mother. I guess eventually Emanuel's real father will have to come into the picture. Still can't see what all these men see in Fedra. She's tawdry, nasty, and skanky. Can't agree with you at all Carlos. Fedra is my least favorite character, followed by Bernardo, Mauricio, and Kristel, in that order.

Fedra also killed Luis Felipe and Dumas (that one with poison meant for Mari). There's also some murkiness regarding just what happened on the boat that burned and the identity she stole from a lady on a neighboring yacht. AND, she is indirectly responsible for Caiman's death, since she ordered him to attack Malicio and thus triggered the fight that led to Mau stabbing Caiman instead.

Plus four attempted murders...Mari, Netty, Oliver, and Gretel. Did she ever actually attempt to kill Max? I can't remember.

I remembered when Fedra accidently poisoned Gretel's cat...omg, that whole scene was just hilarious! LOL.

BarbaraM, you are so right--Mamá Dolores! I forgot entirely about her! Dumas the cat counts, too. He was Gretel's best friend before Oliver. And all those attempted murders....Whew, her anvil will be mighty heavy.

Oh, gee, Luis Felipe, Julia--of course! It's the earliest one we know about!

Maggie, I didn't coin the term "Malicio", I think Julia used it the other day and I just glommed onto it. So thank you on her (or whosever) behalf.

I feel like I should make a list of all those that Fedra has done it. Then another list for all the attempted murders. Goodness she's a busy lady.

Oops, I meant all those that Fedra has done IN. There should probably be another list for those to whom she has done IT.

Hmmmm...A list of who Fedra's done....and a list of who she's done in. Let's guess which one would be longer. Given her career path before meeting Emiliano, I'm guessing the "done" list.
