Por ella soy Eva #76 10/31/12: Rebeca Might Have The Goods, Fern Gets A Gift, Mimi Is Fired
Good Evening y'all and Happy Halloween. I am recapping this epi for TJ who has no power where she is. Our thoughts are with you TJ, and we hope you are fine and get your power restored quickly. Now for the recap.
We open this evening with Helena looking at the ring that Eugenia gave to her, saying JC intended giving it to her. Helena is sad gazing at the ring, she didn't throw it away, and puts it up, still thinking of JC. In comes Lalito and she helps him with his schoolwork.
We cut to the office where Eva is meeting with Adri and she tells him she has lost two of the pages of that report he gave her, you know the ones Rebeca took, well Adri is fit to be tied, it is confidential doncha know, and he wants those papers back like yesterday, well Eva says she'll look at the pension, and around her office, maybe she just dropped them or misfiled them, she didn't say that about the misfiling, but you get the drift. Well Adri could just kill her! Well, Eva gets really upset and starts to cry, and Adri is yelling, but then stops and says he could just die, if someone else gets those papers. So Eva says she wouldn't want to be a widow for a second time. Eva is really bringin' on the tears. Mimi comes in and starts giving Adri hell, so Adri asks for Eva's forgivness. He so wants to make it up to Eva, at first she says no, and then she says ok, dinner, manana. Adri is very happy. Both Mimi and Eva go and Adri runs his fingernails over the door in frustration.
Rebeca is thinking about those papers again and calls Eugenia's house again and gets Chepina. Chepina remembers her and gives Rebeca directions to the rest home where Eugenia now lives. Rebeca is on the hunt to find out about the Pluti/Eugenia/JC connection. She is so happy she tells Chepina in English I love you, and when she hangs up she says yes in English too.
Eva and Mimi are back at the pension and Eva/JC still wants to tell Helena the truth, that he is alive, but will wait till he gets more proof. He still doesn't have enough, and Mimi reminds him to think with his head. He is just upset cause now Pluti has found a way into Helena's heart, and stabs the wig stand with a pair of pink scissors, lol.
There is a nice dinner at Fern and Marcela's house and she has some gifts from that bonus she got for the family. She presents Jennifer with a box, there is a beach vacay in the future, Acapulco is where Kevin wants to go, and everyone is happy but Fern, who keeps eating with a pithed off look on his face.
Eva goes to visit Helena. Eva tells Helena she feels betrayed by her, cause they are good friends and she was the last to know that Pluti is now Helena's boyfriend. Eva is bummed and Helena basically says she is moving on, and Eva says Pluti is not good for you. So Eva brings up about another man in Lalito's life, first JC, then his daddy, and now Pluti, when the bell rings and Helena goes to get it. It's Pluti of course, come to officially stalk, er mack, er visit Helena to see how she is doin'. There is major smoochies at the door,and Eva says let the girl recuperate, leave her in peace, when Pluti says well same at ya there Eva cause Adri is your boyfriend, shocked look on Helena's face. Eva has to turn her face and as JC makes a pithed off face, like drat foiled again!
Now we are in Santi and Angelica's apartment and Santi is pithed cause Angelica didn't make any dinner, and also cause she ate his dinner. She doesn't cook she says. She would have picked him a little somethin', somethin' but she didn't have any money, so fork over some and she'll make sure he gets dinner. He tells her he wants her to help him, by getting a job, especially for household expenses. She isn't happy, and he finally, finally tells her that he is broke, almost bankrupt. He tells her his credit cards are maxed out, he is up to his neck in debt from that apartment he bought for Patti Bebe and still doesn't live in. Well Angelica isn't likin' hearin' this, oh, no siree bob, just ask your parents for the money is her solution, he says no, way jose, it's his problem to fix. Angelica finally says she married him cause he makes the money, not her! So now he asks her if she only married him for the money? She doesn't say anything at first, but then says, I love you bebe, of course I didn't marry you for the money, but of course she did, you can tell by her face, she thought she had got her hooks into a sugar daddy. So she kisses him and assures him she married him for lurrrvvve!
Back to Helena and Pluti and Eva. Helena is very happy for Eva and Adri and Lalito comes out. There is a back and forth between Pluti and Eva wanting to dominate who plays with Lalo, so Helena kinda escorts Eva out of the apartment and Eva is still goin on about Pluti not being good for Eva, as Helena is pushing her out the door. When Eva is finally gone, Helena looks confused again.
The kids are having some Lala milk, shameless product placement, talking about the upcoming trip to the beach. Kevin really wants to go to Acapulco.
The nurse comes into to see Eugenia who says she is still a little confused about her life. Nurse says the girl, Rebeca for the telenovela magazine will be by later, but Eugenia really isn't in the mood to see her. The nurse says she will take care of it.
Fern and Marcela's house and the kids are getting ready to go to school. Marcela says to Fern to take the kids to school, and she'll meet him at the office. She has something she has to do, but she won't tell Fern what. Fern goes and Marcela has a big grin.
At the rest home, the nurse tells Rebeca, Eugenia isn't going to see her today. She really isn't in the mood and Rebeca is thinking.
Eva is just unloading on Mimi about Helena and Pluti and how pithed off JC is bout that. There is a knock and it's Mousse Boy Renato. He tells Eva there is a meeting with Adri, Pluti and for her to come join too they are waiting in the conference room. Mimi wants to go too, but Renato says only Eva. Mimi is confused, should she stay or should she go?
Fern, Marcela and Santi's office. Fern is just peckin' away at the computer with his one finger, lol. The boy can't type worth a tinker's damn, just sayin'. Santi is working too, hey this is the first time I have seen either one of them work. Hurry up, record this one, we gotta save it! Jus' sayin'. Anyhoo, Marcela comes in and says she has a surprise for Fern, come with her. He resists by telling her he is working, sure, sure, and Santi convinces him to go as one of the Evalettes says the surprise is waiting. She starts dragging Fern from his chair, but he says he is goin' already. Everybody, including the Evalettes and some of the coworkers go out to the G.I. garage and it is, wait for it, a nice little white compact car, and everyone claps as Fern is so NOT happy one bit.
Helena and Silvia are having a convo, and Silvia isn't happy that Helena has her computer and is working. Silvia wants Helena to get the rest she needs to recuperate and Helena tells her she needs to work, so she doesn't think about JC. So she is thinking about what Eva said.
Back to the rest home and the nurse comes to tell Eugenia that she sent the young lady away. The nurse wants to know if Eugenia would like the doctor to come see her about the confusion she is having, but Eugenia says no, it can't be cause that would be ridiculous, about what she had been thinking. Eugenia tells the nurse it reminded her of something from the theater and the nurse says Eugenia is doing well. Rebeca has snuck into the doorway of the room and now listens to the nurse and Eugenia as they talk. The nurse asks Eugenia why she is still thinking her son, JC, is still alive, well that's what she has been thinking about cause Eugenia swears he is alive and working at G.I. as a woman named Eva. Well Rebeca comes fully into the room and says Que??? There is a three way stare down as Rebeca says she couldn't help overhearing, yeah right! The nurse is trying to get rid of Rebeca she wants her out. Eugenia changes her mind and tells the nurse Rebeca can stay and Rebeca says she will treat Senora Mistral as the princess she is. The nurse goes, but she tells Eugenia if you need anything just ring.
Back to the garage and Santi is so happy that Fern and Marcela have a new car as all the employees watching think it is a great thing, all except Fern who wants to know where in the sam hill Marcela got the money for this car anyways? Marcela tells her from her bonus, duh! And this is the surprise. He says it's your money do what you want, but he is being an A$$hat about it. She tells him look you jerk wad, my words sorry, this car isn't for me, it's for you honey buns, well he still isn't happy and argues with her, as Santi shooes the employees away from them so they can have some privacy. Fern lights into Marcela and tells her it isn't good, he should be the one providing, he should be the boss of everything and Marcela says stop with the macho crap, sorry me again, but you get the pic. She looks at him like why, oh why did I marry this A$$hat, me again, sorry can't help it. I'd like to slap Fern with my purse, jus' sayin'.
So now we are in the conference room at G.I. and there is Adri, Renato, Pluti, Eva, two people from the Playa Majagua project, and Mimi, and Adri wants Mimi to go, she so doesn't belong, but Eva has her sit back down. Eva wants to know why Renato is making this presentation when this in fact Helena's project. Adri tells Eva, Renato is in Helena's stead cause she isn't here, and Adri asks Mimi to go again. Mimi goes, but leaves her blackberry on the table and Eva covers it with a file folder and the meeting commences.
Back at the rest home and Rebeca is asking Eugenia questions. First she starts out with general acting questions and starts asking Eugenia why she thinks that JC is alive. Well Eugenia is getting suspicious and says what are with these questions, and Rebeca keeps on asking questions about JC and Eugenia terminates the "interview" cause she doesn't like where this is going, and calls out for the nurse, who tells Rebeca she gots to go. Rebeca says she got what she needs and goes as the nurse escorts her out, and Eugenia is lookin verkelmpt.
Back to the meeting at G.I. and one of the Playa people are talking and Adri asks Eva's opinion, she says its excellent. Mimi picks this time to come back in lookin' for that blackberry. Pluti and Adri are givin' her the death ray and Adri shouts at her you interrupted the meeting for this. Mimi is under the table thinking she dropped the phone there. The guy starts talking about the construction again, and Mimi finds that blackberry finally and interrupts again about the colors of the beach buildings. Orange and pink and blue I think, and Adri is impatient with her again and Pluti asks her to leave, and she starts to go, but before she does she keeps prattling on. Finally Mimi goes and Adri is pithed.
Rebeca is back at her office and is thinking bout what she heard Eugenia say about JC being Eva. Rebeca remembers giving JC the tonic for his gastritis and Eva having the same ailment, how Eva wouldn't let the doctor touch her, how JC told her he was a gentleman and goes away whistling, how Eva at the front desk took those things, threw them up in the air and went away whistling the same tune, and finally overhearing Eugenia say to the nurse that JC is posing as an employee at G.I. named Eva. Rebeca is thinking could JC be Eva.
The meeting for the Playa project is over and Adri is well pleased with it. Renato puts his two cents in, but is quickly shut down by Adri, and Renato doesn't look happy. Eva wants Helena's opinion to be heard too, but Pluti steps in there and says ultimately it is the finance portion of the company.
Mimi is in Eva's office being read the riot act by Eva for interrupting the meeting and offering her opinions when she shouldn't have. There is a knock and it is Adri and Eva thinks it's great he knocked before he just came waltzing in. Adri has come to talk to Mimi. He asks if she remembers she is there on a trial basis cause Adri thought she really didn't fit into the company, well the time has come for Mimi to go. Eva starts to object, but Mimi asks Eva to go so she can have a private word with Adri. Eva wants to know why, and Mimi insists, I need to speak to Adri alone, so Eva goes. Mimi tells Adri it is clear why she has got to go, it's about Eva. But don't you feel just a tiny bit of something for me, she asks Adri? She asks him, as she rubs his chest, don't you feel just a little something when I'm near you, he moves away and says the only woman he feels anything for is Eva Maria. He says he loves Eva Maria as Mimi has huge tears in her eyes, awww. Then Mimi smiles and says well you've told me the truth so now its time for me to boogie on out of here, well not that, but it's better if I go. Adri says it's better if she goes and Mimi agrees and picks up her purse and wipes tears from her face, and Adri calls her back and tells her he wishes her the best of luck, she nods her head and goes, and Adri is lookin' really sad. It looks like he didn't really want to fire her. Like maybe removing the temptation of Mimi, perhaps?
Helena and Pluti are together in her apartment and they are talking and he kisses her and says he misses her at the office. She asks him how things are at the office and he tells her about the meeting with the construction people for the Playa project and Helena is concerned and says why couldn't you wait for me to come back, before having this meeting? He tells her this project is still hers and not to worry, just stay home and recuperate as he is kissing her hand, and making goo goo eyes at her. Lalito comes home and he's got alot of homework. Pluti offers his services in the math department, and Lalo is so happy. Helena kinda likes it too.
Fern and Santi are walking the halls of G.I. and Santi says to him you should be proud you got a new car, as another guy comes up and shakes Fern's hand and tells him, where can I find a woman like that, I wish that I had Ferni's girl, well, you get the drift and Fern wants to smack the guy, but Santi talks him out of that.Fern is telling Santi why he isn't happy about this, cause Marcela is now providing instead of him, she's his boss, actually the boss of him, and some Evalettes come by and giggle and this just pithes Fern off more, (Note to Fern: hey look, your wife did you an enormous favor you so DO NOT DESERVE, get over yourself and thank her already!). Santi tells Fern look at me, Angelica won't get a job, and I'm on the verge of ruin and bankruptcy. Fern calms down and consoles Santi.
Back to Pluti telling Lalo his work is good, but he needs to remember certain stuff. There is a festival at school that Lalo invites Pluti to, and Pluti wants to go, but Helena thinks this isn't a good time, cause Lalito still thinks of JC, I think. Pluti is so not happy.
The Evalettes are spreading the chisme about Fern and the car and how he didn't like it to Eva. They stop when Marcela comes by to give Eva something to sign. Eva congrats Marcela on doing this for Fern, while Rebeca is round the corner, spying on Eva. Rebeca is watching Eva's mannerisms, her eyes and the way she moves her hands. Then Rebeca notices Eva's mouth and sort of nods her head.
Advances:
Rebeca is looking at a pic on her computer with an article on JC and the fraud and wonders if JC could be Eva.
There is a hen party and Rebeca wants Eva to put a bustier on, but Eva is balking.

I said, "The only relationships that have not made a big change ... are Santi & Angie, and Eva/Adriano/Mimi. I predict that triangle changes shape Monday, since everything else is changing." Well, the triangle changed tonight, as did Santi/Angie. And more importantly, now Rebecca knows or VERY strongly suspects, so that certainly means we're in a new stage.

Thanks for the recap. I can't take Fernando anymore--he needs to go with Helena's father on a long trip somewhere else. I hope at the very end Mimi and Adri end up together.

Mads- Thanks for the wonderful recap. Rebe knowing the truth about JC/Eva is quite a game changer. I really wonder how she'll proceed with that knowledge.
Helena really seems to be giving her all in trying to enjoy this relationship with Pluti. She's more into the kisses now. But she told Pluti that it was too soon after JC to get Lalo's hopes up about a father figure. That's why she squashed the idea of Pluti joining them for the school event. She wants to give it more time and see if things are really going to last first. He was not happy about that.

But he should also know his wife by now, and know she gave him that car out of the goodness of her heart, not because she was trying to show him up. That scene only became embarrassing because of his reaction, not because she gave him the gift in a public way. He would have been just as sulky had she given it to him at home with just the two of them.

I'm kinda on the fence about Rebe. Will she go to the bad side, or the good side? Especially now she has a glint of what Pluti was really up to and the way he dumped her really pithed her off. So I wonder if she just wants revenge on Pluti, which of course she does, or will she turn out to be good. I'm crossing my fingers that she helps JC out.

Could the Putz and Mo be in cahoots about the embezzlement. We know the Putz used Eugenia's name, etc. and we also know that Mo would not help JC when asked. We know Mo wants Eugenia out of the way so is there a tie between the two events? If Mo is not involved will he be implicated when Reb solves the puzzle of the missing funds?

Vivi thanks for what I missed about Pluti. So glad Helena is telling him that. Lalito has had to many male figures come and go in his life.
In advances it looks like Rebe is having some kind of lingere party and all the girls look half dressed and when Rebe hands that bustier to Eva, she is freaking out, cause Eva is the only one fully dressed. I wonder how Eva will find her way out of this one?

Thanks, Madelaine. As I was reading your recap, I realized that I didn't get to watch this last night! Hopefully I'll have time to catch up tonight.
Fern's reaction to the car is no surprise at all. Marcela has been humoring him with his macho ego for far too long; I don't think they both realize how much of his self-esteem depends on that dynamic. Hopefully he'll figure out that he can build up his own self-esteem by actually accomplishing things rather than being a lazy, sulking loudmouth.

About the car - Marcela is the one that always takes a taxi while Fer takes the car. So if the new white car is for Fer, Marcela will be using the old car.
Fer should be double thankful for the generosity of his lovely wife. I doubt if anything will ever keep him from raining on Marcela's parade. What is it going to take to get this jerk to see the light?

RP- I don't think Modesto was involved in the fraud, Pluti and Onesimo yes, Modesto no. I think Modesto really thought that Eugenia had Alzhiemer's or was starting to get senile, but she really missed her friends in the theater and the novela people she used to work with. I think Modesto had her quit all that. This is why the doctor stressed to Modesto that he needs to let her get back in contact with her friends.
I think the reason Modesto wouldn't help JC is cause he thought he was really guilty. He should have done a little snooping of his own. If only he would really listen to Eugenia, instead of thinking she is losing her mind, about JC being alive that is. But Modesto doesn't listen to Eva or JC, cause JC tried to tell him he wasn't guilty but Modesto didn't listen. If he were to hear what JC has discovered, and really listened to him, he could find out some stuff for JC.

Julie I so agree with you about Fern, he does sulk alot doesn't he? That's why I added that comment of record the moment and remember that he was actually working when Marcela came in with the surprise, lol. Fern is really a big baby and needs his ego massaged constantly.

RP, I don't think Modesto was in on the fraud at all. If he had been, then Pluto wouldn't have needed Onesimo to trick Eugenia into giving him her signature. Modesto could have done that himself.

Neice in MD- I too wish Eugenia would get the courage and talk to Eva/JC to ask why he is doing this dressing us as a woman, too. I think she would actually help him.

It will be interesting indeed to see what Rebecca does with her knowledge. I can't decide if it will be a good thing (team up with JC to bring down Pluti) or a bad thing (blow his cover and somehow hurt Helena and Adri in the process).
I agree that Marcela should have been more attuned to Fern, like having him come up with the idea of a car, picking it out, and acting like he bought it. I guess it wouldn't be so funny if he didn't get his maleness threatened all the time.
