Not much going on this episode.

I have never recapped a 2hr show and nor am I excited to do it...it already takes me forever to write up these recaps. Lame move Univision, y can't you go back to the 3hr novela nighttime slot :/
 

Thanks CeCe. This was such a boring drawn out episode. If it were my recap, it probably would have been a paragraph. I hope MC goes back to Isla Dorado. And I hope the luv guv is still there and wants to rekindle their romance. Maybe Karim will still be there too and we can do this all over again. How fun. Not!
 

Cece, I absolutely loved your tribute to "Rent". Thanks for the recap and your creativity. From the avances it looks like it is time for a mob with torches, pikes, and pitch forks. Maricruz better get going while the going is good.

I do not want $imona to die for the simple reason that Mighouly wants her to die . HEY , get off your lazy duff and GET A JOB and stop living off other people's wealth.

IN fact, all these people need to get a little proactive and stop sitting and whining and looking dour. God helps those who help themselves. Solita is probably lucky to have escaped with her two pets.

No matter what MC promises, if Tav goes into heat-seeking-missile mode, he'll be out there looking for MC. He didn't have much luck finding her the first time.

The writers are doing an excellent job of keeping us guessing... if only they could do half as well at making us care.

Susanlynn: Those were the good days...who would have that I would come to miss those dear Isla characters like Teo, Eduardo and Karim (was their story arches ever closed or did they just dissipate from the story??).

I want to thank you all for soldiering on. I am not keeping up with CI as faithfully as I did in the beginning. I try to catch at least one episode a week and at this point I am recap dependent.I don't comment often, but I appreciate each and every one of you for doing this. I am hoping things get better when we get to ulitmas semanas/ultimos capitulos.

I loved the homage to Rent.

Yeah, Simona's "deal" with MC didn't have much bite since, 1) MC has not been around Tav for months now, and she has shown no interest in getting back together with him; and 2) she's planning on leaving the area anyway.

Was glad to see MC say she's going it alone. She had a bit of the old MC spunk, but she has lost much of the spark. She needs someone to spar with. Where's Doris when we need her?
 

Simona has a selective heart of gold -- love it!

Everyone, including the writers, have a selective memory, because Simona just dumped her baby in a shack a few days ago. Now she looks almost better than ever, graciously receiving her lesser relatives reclining on the bed with a throw casually draped across her legs. There seemed to be insinuations that she was exagerating her symptoms at one point, but it wasn't properly developed.

Anyhow, I am very happy to see that she may pull through. I really found the death-from-brain-tumour story depressing. Now if only she cast off Dumtavio -- and Mari would do well to do the same.
Just imagine O's cara impactada when the two of them break up with him at the same time. I hear William Levy's free right now ;)
 

I don't get it, I realize this could apply to the whole show, but how exactly did Simona win? Vivi said it. MC was leaving anyway. Simona got the person who was leaving to leave. Still. Winner!

I admit to not watching the actual show anymore because, well, it's this show. But I'm keeping up with the recaps just to see what insanity they come up with next since we know it's coming. Or here. Good luck to everyone doing those two hour shows.

Simona wants Octavio not to know anything about MC and his daughter. That is why she needed that deal. This is the summery of what she said.

How selfish she always was and still is. She tried to built her happiness with the married man and now she is all about "he is mine". And of course, who cares about his feelings.
I dont want her to die only because I dont want Maricruz to raise octavito. I'm sure that Miguel will end bad, so his son will stay with Octavio in the end. 2 babies from enemies for MC is too much. Anyway, I dont want MC to stay with octavio either.
But people like Simona will never change. She was selfish and bad, she is selfish and bad.

About conversation between Octavio and MC. All this words he HAD to say on isla. Now is too late.

Thanks for the rundown of what Simona said to MC, Alegria. I guess I'm just getting used to this crazy tn, but what she said really doesn't sound any crazier, bitchier, or more unreasonable than anything else any one else in this tn says-- good characters or bad. It just seems in line with the way all the characters in this tn think about love, marriage, and people "belonging" to them.
 

Let's compare Simona's "deal" with MC to MC's "deal" with Doris.

MC: Octavio was mine first. He can only be with me, or no one else. He's legally still my husband, but I don't want him...but I don't want him to be with you either. Either you end your relationship with him, or I will marry your father. Choose! It's either your boyfriend or your father.

On the whole, Simona's "deal" actually sounds more sane and reasonable.

Simona: If I survive this surgery, I want you to leave this place and stay away from my husband. I have loved him forever, since we were children. I never thought we'd be together, but now we are. He's my husband and we have a child together and I want to be married to him forever. I know we can't be happy if you are still around. If I die, then he'll inherit all my wealth. Luckily, I won't be around see you two together (so have at it and enjoy my wealth together).
 

Vivi in DC, the problem is, that there is no secondary pairs in this novela. We almost haven't good people here now. So it is difficult to compare.
Simona knows, that her husband is in love with other woman. He has a daughter with that woman, but she still wants to became happy making octavio unhappy. And he is. And not because MC was here. She couldn't forget her love to octavio, so why she is sure, that he will forget his?
And what about self-respect? Simona and Esther are happy to live with husbands, who love other woman? Is this a message of this novela? MC was more honest. She gave divorce and now she let him go. What he will do then will be his decision. But Simona wants both of them to live her way.
And I'm really sad, that there is no love in this novela. In the beginning we had Aracely and Eduardo. Then Solita and Perico. But all this is not normal and usual love-lines. We even don't have normal love-line with our main couple.

Alegria- Exactly. There are no examples of healthy, normal loving relationships in this tn. So in that context, Simona's request seems perfectly normal. None of the women in this, not even MC, have been good examples of self respect when it comes to men. MC is getting there. I wish in the end that she would walk off into the sunset with just her daughter. No man needed. I mean, with a man like Tav, it's better to be alone.
 

Vivi in DC, MC wanted to hurt Octavio. It was the main reason of the deal with Doris. he hurt her, she wanted her revenge. And she knew very well, that Octavio loves her. I don't think, that MC acted right but she had her reasons.
Simona knew from the beginning, that he loves MC. He still loves MC. So why she needs him? To suffer? Or make him suffer? Or she is very naive, if she thinks, that without MC nearby he will be happy with her. I'm sure, that he will be more unhappy. And by the way, is she will survive, how she will keep him by her side? He stayed only because she was ill. But then?
And little more from Simona:
MARICRUZ HAS BEEN VERY GENEROUS AND KIND, I CAN'T DENY THAT, BUT IT MAKES ME HAPPY TO THINK THAT EITHER OF US WILL GET OCTAVIO.

Thursday---La Paloma, yes, I just love the architecture of Mari's house. Like you, I am not crazy about the paintings although they do add to the cultural flavor. You're right about the light. The house is filled with natural light
I like the layout of the rooms and the wooden staircase is so beautiful. The house is just gorgeous, so classy but not in a overpowering or gaudy way--it's just perfect. I would be so happy living there.

Solita, you think that she got cheated? Remember that she is a secondary character. But---it isn't over yet. Have faith, I do but not just for Solita but for the whole show.

Caryn---I was anxious too about the $imona Marycruz meeting.

Sara C. - I dont blame you. I only watch the show when its my turn to recap and then tune in when I get duped into thinking something may happen. All the other days I just read our outstanding teams work :)

ViVi: Didn't get why meeting MC was such a let down. MC is prideful and hard headed so didnt need to worry about her getting back with Tav. I wonder what will finally make her take him back.....

Daniela: I was thinking the same thing!! Did I imagine reading that Simona was crazy a few episodes back.

Since there is no real love story happening and the main couple hasn't been together for a long time, as Alegria has noted, I don't understand the tn's continued popularity. It's frustrating to watch a tn w/such a charismatic lead couple and keep them apart for most of the story.

I've done two-hour recaps of shows I disliked, and it's miserable. On days when I can get to my computer, will read and comment, but probably not watch. Library (where tv and computer reside) will be back under construction on Monday so I apologize to all those recappers whose efforts I missed this week.

hey, stop complaining. I once mentioned, that made recaps of this show everyday. EVERYDAY. I think it was my way to express all the negative emotions I had during the day. If it was a bad day, in the end of it I could write millions of times in recap that Octavio is dude, everyone sold their brains etc, etc, etc. And the life became beautiful again :)))
I tried to do the same with QBA, but as for me it was much more worse. Here at least we have a pretty baby Lupita :)))

Karen: I give up trying to understand its popularity in Mexico and here. The only logical thing I can come up is the popularity of the actors. I havent watched that many Tns but the only other story I watched where the couple was apart most of the novella was CCEA. Even that had more interactions between the leads.
 

I'm going to view the double episodes the same way I view ripping off a bandaid fast. It may hurt a lot more, but the pain is over quicker.

I agree with Karen--as painful as 2 hours are (even with good shows) at least this means it will end faster.

I did miss the monkey on Solita's suitcase last Thursday. I went back and sure enough. Solita's mother will have a time with him.

I noticed that $imona recovered greatly after her brief hospital stay. Carlos, did you send her a bottle of your special tequila?

$imona's brain operation? My guess is that she survives and comes back meaner than ever---look out Maricruz.

CeCe---to bad that you were in such a hurry to leave Friday night, the advances looked really good. An angry mob!!!

Oh the complainers--the complainers--the complainers. I hardly watch anymore, nothing ever happens. Well let's see. In just the last couple of days we have seen Solita's mother come and take her away---Maricruz is loosing her beautiful ranch---Miguel and $imona are at odds over Jack Ass and Ester---and $imona will be having surgery soon [Carlos, can you help] Mari will be out in the cold soon with her future up in the air and there is an angry mob with torches at her front door. Nothing going on??? YEAH RIGHT. WRONG!!! There's plenty going on just like in "ALL OF THE OTHER NOVALS" that have non stop action
in each and every episode. I read somewhere that La Reina Del Sur is coming back, there's plenty of action in that one but if that one doesn't suffice---may I suggest that a "Complainers Forum" be established.

As for me, I can't wait, can't wait, can't wait for Monday. I hope that the mob is not mad at Mari. It's not her fault that they are being kicked off the land, Mari has to go too. Monday night must see TV.

Hi gringo, you haven't given us your thoughts on the doubling up (2 hr) of episodes beginning next Friday. On one hand you'll be getting a bigger dose (overdose?) of CI each day, on the other hand, this adventure will all be over much sooner.

By the way, no episodes of anything on next Thursday... Latin Grammys.

Though I hope not, it looks like we are all done with Solita and I'm guessing the monkey as well.

Carlos..Today, I heard a song while I was in the car, and I immediately thought of CI and the fact that you were promised a monkey. The song is from the 60s or 70s . It is by Honey Cone and the title is "One Monkey Don't Make a Show., Wow, talk about foreshadowing !

Gringo I too wish you could "send your happiness throughout the land". I would LOVE to enjoy this show. It's on at 7 pm when I like to watch and work on my Spanish. But I just can't muster any enthusiasm for it.

But I'm glad you're enjoying it and glad you're defending it with energy and loyalty. Keep on keepin' on.
 

There is very nice foto, which Daniel Arenas posted in his instagram few months ago. I think, it can be a little avance for the next episode. I don't think it's a spoiler, because he posted it even before we saw this new older Lupita. And if someone will decide to rewatch this episode, but from the Canal de las Estrellas, in the end he could find very interesting avance. Much more interesting, than Uni made.

I wish I could muster some enthusiasm for this show, too. I think all the comments sum it up: The two leads have been apart for too long and CeCe really hit the nail on the head with "venganza monologues anyone??"

I don't know about everyone else, but I just got so tired of it. I'm hoping things get better.

I really doubt I can muster enthusiasm for two hour episodes. Worse, I will be out of town the entire week of Thanksgiving and I don't think I have room on my DVR for all the shows we record. Sadly, CI will not make the cut and I will not be recording it that week....so let me thank the recappers in advance.

I forgot to mention that I thought that Mari's dark--black outfit was well thought out by the director. We are in a very somber mood right now, I mean with Solita leaving and Maricruz loosing her great and beautiful rancho to a mining company, black just kinda seemed right for her to wear last night. I did notice the soft rose colored saddle that she had on the horse she was riding when she made the trip to see $imona. It was a pretty saddle, a contrast to her black outfit.

Carlos---Yes I will be very happy for the two hours of CI---but it's like a two edged sword. As you stated, because of the new two hours schedule CI will come to an end much sooner and for me, that will be sad indeed. I am always bummed out when a novela ends. It is like you get to know the people and then all of a sudden they're gone. It always leaves a void. I don't get to see much football but even so, after the Super Bowl there always is an emptiness. So to answer your question---mixed feelings, both good and bad.

I saw an interview with Daniel Arenas and it turns out he's the youngest of 6 kids and has 13 nieces and nephews. It's a shame the writers haven't let him interact with the little kiddies in the last many episodes. They've really underused the kids. They might as well have not had so many of the characters have babies.

I also thought it was funny when Juanita asked if she was going out looking like THAT. LOL! But like Gringo, I thought the black very appropriate to fit the mood of the protagonists, and the show in general, right now. As I mentioned before, it seems as if MC has lost much of her spark.

Did anyone notice the background music when MC was going to the rescue or mediate between Nilda and Solita. Someone mentioned before the "power" symbolism of that ugly style of skirt(HI Front-Low back skirt) when MC was returning to claim the ranch. Well she really looked like-Here's Super MC to the rescue.

I watched the episode and when MC was ready to go see Simona, Juanita actually told her to wear some makeup. At that moment, MC was wearing eye liner, mascara, eye shadow, rouge, and lipstick. What else is there to wear? Foundation, I guess. But I'm sure she was wearing that too.
 

I dont like MC when she is a debbie downer...she literally looks like she is just going through the motions (greatly played, AB). Even when she went back to her room to sulk about VOLUNTARILY losing Octavio, it didnt have the same woe is me spark that she had prior. Someone find the old MC fast!
 

vida2: just a few episodes ago I was changing my tune about Awfelia...i didnt even call her that name. But this episode proved she has not changed one bit.
 

I apologize if this comment is a little off topic and I've been meaning to ask it for a while but, why didn't Maricruz bring Tobias back to the ranch when she brought Solita? Doesn't he know sign language and could have helped communicate with her? I always liked the character and it's a shame that he got pushed to the side.

Mention of Tobias made me think--if MC goes to the city when she leaves the ranch?--she needs to find Tobias. I'm sure he could hook her up with a good job opportunity. If he had that haberdashery, she could work there and meet a rich man.

Of course, that's mostly wishful thinking on my part (sigh). Miss Tobias lots and lots.
 

Doesn't she still own the house her father left her? If she's leaving the ranch she can move there until she gets a job. But as Vivi said, there's no logic to the tn.

A lot of amazing stuff this past week,

I was astounded at Nilda's nerve to try and sweep in and sweep out Perico and Solita's womb.

I was astonished at Tav's careless and casual search for baby Tav.

My best laugh this week,

Tav asks 2 guys in a field, "Hey, have you seen a baby around here?" Guys say no and continue on their way. The whole exchange was like Tav had misplaced his car keys. I think most people would be a little more surprised about a baby out in a field alone.

OMG, 2 hours a night! I'll never keep up! Say it isn't so!

$imona and her brain tumor operation. My guess is that she will come through it with flying colors. I don't think that the $imona and Maricruz agreement will last. Although Mari sometimes says that she doesn't love Tav any more, she is fooling no one, not even herself.
If she does leave town, I'm sure that at some point she will be back to fight [the Mari of old]for Octavio the love of her life.
It's going to be a battle to the end with Maricruz coming out the winner. I don't know how it will happen but I have faith---$imona and Tav are just not meant to be.

Awful-felia---Is still awful. She showed her true character when she commented with distain after $imona called Maricruz La Senoria
Some have thought that Awful-felia had changed for the better but no, it's not true. She has the outward appearance of someone good but inside---she is still awful. The name Awful-felia is fitting.

I am very perplexed concerning the "mob" tonight. Whatever could that be about other than the mining company moving in but everyone knew that was going to happen. Maybe the people think that with numbers, they can save their homes.
Must see TV tonight.

I just came back from my hairdresser's. There is an hispanic woman who works there and we talked previously about this show back when the characters were still on Isla Dorado. At the time she liked the show when I was already complaining about it. Today we talked about TNs again and she told me she quit watching CI because it became so bad she stopped liking it. I had to tell her that I was still watching it, she wanted to know why since I thought it was bad too, but I couldn't confess I was doing recaps of it so I just told her that I had to see it to the end since I had so much time invested in it.
 

Mineral rights have been in the news in the U.S. a lot lately. Apparently, people in several states have bought houses without knowing that the mineral rights weren't included. In an area prone to sinkholes (which is most of Florida), you might not want anyone digging under your house.
