TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: THE FRONT PAGE -- En Otra Piel, Camelia la Texana, et cetera, week of May 19, 2014
Labels: camelia, piel, telemundo
I'll start off this week with some babbling, because I had a margarita and a glass of sherry with dinner:
I know we're not about the gossip, but did you guys know that real-life Marta is married to real-life Esteban? I looked her up to see how old she was because her skin looks amazing. (She's my age, and I either need her skin care products or her makeup artist has to come live with me). Also, "Esteban" is a really good looking man; check out his pics. And I've decided I need to date a Mexican because Diego held Vale's door open for her even as they were trying to escape a murderous rapist! I don't think we make gentlemen like that here (even if he should have just gotten in the car and taken off).
Salud!
Kelly
Gerardo tells Mondriana he’s going to protect her, but it’s a bit complicated. [No sh*t!] He tells her she has to trust him. He says she can tell him to go to hell, but first she needs to hear him out. She says she has to go talk with Selma and he should wait in an adjoining room.
Carlos and El Pachuco have found out from the morgue where the funeral is to be held but still don’t know the name of the deceased. That’s what they’re going there to discover. [And won’t this pair of obvious thugs in leather jackets stand out like a pair of sore thumbs at the funeral of a well-respected media guy!]
Lupe is talking with Diego. I think it’s about a news report of some guy who had 30 gunshots to his body and survived. Lupe uses one of those wonderful dichos in Spanish: Cuando te tocas aunque te quites y cuando no te tocas aunque te pongas (Sort of refers to destiny. When it’s your turn, it’s your turn even if you aren’t ready; and sometimes when you want it to be your turn, it won’t be.)
At the hospital where Marta is still visiting Vicki, Gabriel tells her that Jennifer will have to stay hidden until they can find a cheap place to live. Marta offers her savings, but he refuses. Marta asks him why he’s so full of pride, and he basically tells her he’s a chip off her block! He says he’s doing well with the caricatures and loves the work. He just asks her to make Jennifer feel like part of the family. He tells his mother he plans to marry her.
Camila also plans to go to Esteban’s funeral. Elena tries to foist Ernesto off as an escort, but Cami isn’t interested. Cami invites Lorena to go, but the increasingly domineering and unpleasant Elena says her mamí needs to stay home. After Cami leaves she grills her about her conversation with Jorge. Elena asks why Lorena cares about this guy’s opinions. She says Lorena told him her father died. Lorena shows a little spunk and asks if she’s going to constantly spy on her. Elena blows this off and asks why she said that when everyone knows Lorena doesn’t even know who got her pregnant. Lore: “That’s the story you like to tell but that doesn’t make it true.” Elena demands to know who he is. Lorena, again with some backbone: “He died. He was as poor as a church mouse, so you have no hope of inheriting anything!” Elena: “No, you don’t have any idea of who my father is. You always were a whore.” This charming mother-daughter talk is interrupted when Susi comes in to clear the breakfast dishes.
After talking briefly with her, Selma tells Mondriana to go ahead and speak with Gerardo. He starts right off lying. He says that she needs to know that his relationship with Elena is strictly a business one. Besides, she detests him and hated that he inherited all the money. Mondriana: “You think I’m dumb enough to swallow that tale after seeing that you gave her the bracelet that was supposed to be especially picked out for me.” He goes on with the same boring telenovela lines: “I know I’ve made a lot of mistakes, but the only thing I know for sure is that this is a love we can’t stop feeling for each other.” [Come on, Gerardo! Focus. The danger, remember!]
Mondriana tells him that he tried to fool her again. She thought he had something important to say. He finally tries to say something relevant. He says that she told him she had a friend who was raped by Figueroa. He says he needs to know how involved she was in this matter. Mondriana says she knew the girl but lost touch with her. And why do you ask? He says that Figueroa was mixed up with some really bad people. Plus, he didn’t kill himself but was murdered by them. Mondi mentions the police, and Gerardo lies some more. He says that the ones who uploaded the video that destroyed his career were the ones who killed him.
Vicki tells Marta that she’s not coming back to Casa Serrano. She’s going to live with Jorge. Gabriel is in the room as well and begins to question Vicki about whether she had problems with Elena before the bracelet thing. Vicki starts to hyperventilate.
Diego arrives at the funeral. Yikes! Valeria is also there. [My body is starting to get tense.] Valeria tells Diego that she thinks it’s awful this happened to Esteban right after the thing with the judge. She sees something pertinent there, but Diego tells her Esteban just had an accident.
Mondriana tells Gerardo that what he said is a bit worrisome, but has nothing to do with her. He asks about the video. She says she saw it on TV like everyone else. He asks if the girl in the video was her friend, and she denies it. Gerardo doesn’t really tell her anything useful at all. [Did we really think he was going to tell her about his murderous accomplice Elena?]
Eileen is being comforted by Ricardo when, of course, Sourpuss arrives right on cue. They’re holding hands when Emiliana tells her sister that those two are just friends. She also tells her Eileen is Selma’s daughter. Cami: ¿Que? A big surprise for our little snob.
Doña Lupe tells Jennifer a funny story about when the ex of her third husband came to her house to scream at her for stealing him. Jen asks if she pulled her hair out. Lupe says she had a better solution. She told the woman the guy is fat, has no money, and is terrible in bed. It wasn’t the truth, but the ex told her to keep him, and she did!
Gerardo keeps on trying. Mondriana thanks him in a cool manner and tries to leave. He says how much he loves her and she asks him if he expects her to forget that he told Mónica Serrano that he loved her when all he wanted was her money! He gets a bit heated, says it’s not true. She’s dead and stop talking about her. Monica: “She’s much more present in our lives than you believe.” Gerardo, vehemently: “What are you talking about?” He grabs her by the arms when she tries to leave. Monica: “Let me go!”
Diego appears in the doorway and tells Gerardo he should let her go unless he wants to be made to do so. Mondi tells him never to touch her again. Diego approaches and asks if she’s OK. Gerardo: “Who in blazes are you?” Diego: “My name is Diego Ochoa. Learn it by heart because you’ll see a lot of me if you try to bother her.” Mondi and Diego leave the room. Gerardo, fuming, remembers when Mondriana (Adriana back in her own body) dreamily called him Diego in the driveway.
Mondriana tells Diego she can defend herself. He says he heard her call the guy Gerardo. Isn’t this the guy she told him she was in love with? Wow, this is one funeral full of too much jealous testosterone!
We see some more of that sterling male quality when Anselmo grills Maite about her feelings for the deceased in the car on the way to the funeral.
Emiliana tells her sister that Eileen is beautiful, isn’t she? And that when she saw her before she might have been in costume because she’s an actress. [Little sister pouring some salt in the wound.]
Selma stands to speak about Esteban at the funeral. Gerardo doesn’t even have the decency to look ashamed. After a while, she breaks down in sobs.
Anselmo leaves Maite outside the funeral home; and, oh my, she’s grabbed immediately by Carlos and El Pachuco. I’m thinking ahead to them torturing her for the whereabouts of the other girls when…. here come the Marines in the guise of Anselmo, forcing them back against a wall with the front of his car. Anselmo keeps getting closer and closer and actually wings Carlos with the bumper. Carlos screams at EP to get out the gun, but he left it in the car. Maite breaks free and jumps into the car with Anselmo. They speed off with the two thugs speeding after them.
Maite, who has an amazing head on her shoulders, calls Eileen at the funeral home and yells that there is an emergency and to pass the phone to Mondriana. She tells her that she ran into Carlos and was grabbed. But Anselmo rescued her. She tells Mondi that she and Valeria should get out of there before he comes back. After chasing them for a while, Anselmo makes a quick turn onto another street. Carlos tells EP to let them go. If Maite was going to this funeral, then the other two must be there as well. [True. But that’s quite a leap to assume that.]
Mondriana tells Diego what Maite told her. She says he should get Valeria out of there. Diego: “What about you?” She says she has to stay there because of Camila and Emiliana. [Good grief!!!] Eileen, another quick thinker, says she’ll take care of Camila and Mondriana should get Emiliana and get out of there.
Oh no! Elena is at Vicki’s bedside pretending to be all concerned for the benefit of the doctor. When Vicki says they had an agreement, Elena leans toward her like a snake toward its prey and tells her she’s not getting away so easily. [Vicki, yell for the doctor for God’s sake!]
Eileen gets in Camila’s face and tells her to follow her. She wants to tell her some of the things that Ricardo said about her! This gets Cami out of the way. [Does Mondriana know about Carlos working at the winery? She’s desperate for him not to see her daughters as if some harm would come to them if he saw them.]
Whoops! Mondriana barely misses being seen by Carlos, looming in the doorway. But then Carlos is face to face with Gerardo. The same Gerardo who told Carlos he had never seen the dead man before when they were in the torture room. [So why is he attending the funeral?]
Wow, Novelera, what a terrific recap! I thought I understood most of the dialogue when I watched (except for Maiti's machine-gun-fire utterances), but you've helped me see a lot that I missed.
Like you, I was getting very nervous when I saw that almost all the potential prey were gathered at the funeral, with Carlos and Pachuco about to arrive.
Meanwhile, Vicki is alone in her hospital room with Elena. Yikes. I doubt that Vicki could scream loud enough to be heard.
I think from now on I'll follow your lead and refer to Camila as Sourpuss. And then there's her sister. I've commented before on Emi's getting on my nerves, and she certainly did so again in this episode. Even if she's only 11 (she looks a lot older than that), she should know better than to come running into the funeral and start yammering excitedly about whatever is on her mind. I realize that she has a good heart and that her actions are supposed to make us realize that she's just a child, but even my 8-year-old granddaughter has more common sense and maturity. (end of rant)
Kelly, I loved your inspired "babbling." I too noticed with extreme envy Marta's skin. I'd love to be en otra piel, if the piel were hers.
Super recap, Novelera! I particularly liked the testosterone theme:
"We see some more of that sterling male quality when Anselmo grills Maite about her feelings for the deceased in the car on the way to the funeral."
Sourpuss is a good description of Camila. I loved her expression when she was told that Eileen is Selma's daughter.
Pretty soon everybody in this novela is going to be hiding from somebody - Maite, Valeria, Mondriana, Jennifer and Vicky!
As we head down the homestretch, things are not looking too good for Camelia. The good news? That belt buckle saved her life. But the bullet did penetrate, enough to make her 1) lose her baby, whom she had decided to name Rosaura, and 2) not be able to have any more children. She feels as if her life is over. Lots of people try to comfort her (Cookies is there, says she also lost a baby, was pregnant as a teen and her father forced her to have an abortion, I think), but this doesn't help Cami too much. We see Alma find out the news and smile(!)
Antonio isn't hurt too badly, as I said the other day, he's been shot before. Lu shows up to nurse him back to health, we thought she left forever, but I guess not.
Alma makes friends with Emilio, who is being held in the barn. They've both lost their parents to murder by guns. As have lots of other people, such as Alacran and Stan.
Stan and Ortiz come to the ranch to investigate, Stan thinks Allison might have been killed, but Alacran and the guys won't let them in. Later, Stan sneaks in, goes to see Antonio, says tell me the truth, man to man. Antonio tells him, that woman shot Camelia, my men just returned fire. But if you want her body, that's up to Camelia.
Stan finds Mireya, says can you just try to get Camelia to release Ali's body? Mireya grudgingly says okay, if you tell me when the prison transfer of my Dad will be.
Facundo finds out, calls Camelia, is very sad that the baby is dead, but is very happy that Cami's alive (although she tells him she's basically dead). She also tells Antonio everything was her own fault, yes Emilio promised her the world, then betrayed her. But she didn't have to fire that gun. She tells Antonio to release the body to Stan, maybe this will finally break the chain of revenge.
Emi tells Alma he has another father, named McQueen, who will surely come for him. And when McQueen comes to pick up Allison's body, the boy clings to him, and Stan does take him. They bury the body under a tree, and say moving tributes (the kid is especially good here). But Stan later tells Emi he's not a Dad type, he's a cop, and he's found a distant relative to place Emi with.
When Emi tells Alma he's leaving to go with Stan, she doesn't want him to leave, even threatens to tell that HE was the one that shot Camelia, but he goes anyway.
The new guy, Rene, continues to act weird, giving Camelia a large bouquet of roses, acting as if he knows everything. And then at the end of the episode, he tells Alma that her parents are not dead, and he's going to take her home!!!!!
thanks so much Hombre!
your recap was everything and more that I got out of the show,
and you write it up so well.
I kept getting the feeling that we are being setup for something big.
It's kind of strange, the police meeting with these known criminals and not able to do anything because they are so outgunned.
I forgot to give kudos to Eileen! She may sometimes have the emotional maturity of a 16 yr old, but she sure knew how to handle Sourpuss to get her out of there. Reading people well must come from her acting. And all this is certainly giving her great experience.
Kelly
I've looked in on this one and the premise is really unusual. I thought Dr. Ricardo was going to be an autocratic jerk, but turns out he's a nice guy after all. Gilmar is a real creepy guy, especially when he was kind of sort of fondling Viviana when she was in the hospital. I like Dr. Vincente, he is a really nice guy, along with Bruno and his Mama. Beatriz and her Mama crack me up, and whoever they got to dub Deborah Fallabella's voice sounds exactly like Ivana in AB. I also like Madame Hilda the psychic.
I think Francesca's house is haunted. Beatiz is lucky that chandelier didn't fall on her head.
I like Antonia the housekeeper. She was like a Mama to Daniel and I like that he is making his presence known both to her and his Papa. Viviana I feel bad for too, victim of circumstance.
This semen storage though, it's unique that Daniel did this shortly before he died. Now Beatriz wants to be the woman to carry the baby, please no! I'm glad Ricardo is looking for someone else. I'm hoping in the end it's Viviana that ends up doing that, not a spoiler, just a guess.
I'd like to discuss this one with anyone that is watching. I'm not doing recaps for this one.
Miguel:
I left you a comment on last week's thread.
Hi Mads: I have watched the first episode. It is ok and I will probably watch it. You are definitely excused from doing recaps after going above and beyond for AB! We can try discussions and see how it goes.
possible scheduling,
Thursday- "Camelia la Texana", gran final
Friday-all prime time novelas preempted by specials for "El Señor de los Cielos".
Monday- "En Otra Piel" replaced by the "El Señor de los Cielos" secret chapter (that is now available online) followed by the premier of "El Señor de los Cielos"
.......................................
"Dueños del Paraíso" (with Kate del Castillo) will be co-produced with TVN (Televisión Nacional de Chile)
"will be taped on location in Miami, New York and Chile"
"written by Pablo Illanes (who is from Chile), this story is inspired in real events that took place at the end of the 70s and early 80s, a period marked by intense controversy both in Miami, with the arrival of the drug wars, and in Chile under the military government of Augusto Pinochet."

tidbits in no particular order,
the bullet that hit Antonio went right through him missing all the vital stuff.
there is a lot of merc at the ranch that Antonio wants to get rid of, fearing a police raid, Lu offers to help, using one of Xiang's old contacts, later Rene is pleased and Antonio says in a couple of months all of the cocaine crossing the border will be through our arrangement.
Cuquis lost child story according to the english captions is that her dad took the child the same day it was born.
Camelia's lost child story is, she 'knows' it was a girl, and she 'knows' she can no longer be a mother, I don't need a doctor to tell me that.
interesting that Facundo calls Camelia using his cover name for Octavio, Sergio, on hearing the news he says he wishes he was there with her, Camelia says he was there, through the hardest times, she saw him in her dreams.
later Camelia admits to Antonio that she lied, telling him it was Facundo's baby to protect him, that it was really Emilio's baby, which would have been little emilio's brother/sister.
(emilio and Alma ?? are the only ones that know it was emilio that shot Camelia, the gun was found in Alison's hand)
dead Alison comes to emilio telling him your dad and I will always be with you, before handing him a chicken ??, which he has when Camelia asks him who he is, looking straight in her eyes close up, he says, "I am Emilio Varela".
there is a lot of cause and effect here, Camelia saying if she had put down the gun that day none of this would have happened, Antonio tells her, you can't change the past, to which she replies, but I can fix the present.
and the weird Rene, with the flowers he invites Camelia to come to Colombia, what? and when he leaves Camelia remarks, he is up to something, and later when he grabs Alma I think he says I'm here on behalf of your parents family, and I am going to take you home.
Is it me or are Brazilian telenovela writers obsessed with fertility clinics? This is the third novela I've seen where a fertility clinic is a prominent part of the story (the other two are O Clone and Fina Stampa via Marido en Aquiler).
This hasn't grabbed me but I'll watch a few more episodes.
Jean:
I'm glad we can dicuss. Is there a bit of a mystery here? Francesca died and Ricardo didn't want Daniel to go out to her house. It hadn't been kept up since she died he said. I wonder if it's haunted? The chandelier ya know : )
Sue 455:
This one didn't grab me either but when Daniel died and from then on, it got kind of interesting. I want to know why Gilmar thinks he is so entitled, and wow, they are with the books again. Daniel gave his dad Ricardo a book of poems that Ricardo said were depressing I think. It really tickles me pink that of the Brasilian TNs I've seen, this is only the second one, they are including books again. I am a huge reader and so enjoy that these writers are picking a particular book again. I have never seen any TN with a fertility clinic before, not even on Uni that I can remember. This is a draw for me.
Deb, thanks very much for the heads up about the scheduling changes for Friday and Monday. I knew only that some Narco thingee was replacing La Impostura on Friday: I didn't realize that it would preempt all three novelas, nor did I realize that En Otra Piel might not be shown on Monday, either. I've already seen the secret chapter, but I think I'll watch anyway, since this time they'll probably include subtitles, something I defiitely missed when it was shown in pieces.
And thanks too for the info about Dueños del Paraiso. I think I'll keep an eye out for that one, both because the subject sounds interesting and because I liked Kate del Castillo so much in La Reina del Sur.
Deb, thanks for the clarifications.
Yes, Rene wants to take Alma to meet her family (not her parents, who are dead). I THINK he even says that he is her uncle. Just as Octavio was the brother of Alma's mother, Rene was the brother of Alma's father (I think). So her "real family" is in Colombia. She's not sure she wants to go, what about her father Antonio? Rene says Antonio was nice to raise her, but his job is done.
Rene also wants Camelia to come to Colombia to start a new life. Yeah, right, that's not Camelia's style, she wants to confront life, not dodge it.
Stan didn't drop Emi off with a relative, he takes him to an orphanage. And he later feels very guilty. Ortiz consoles him, but he wants to quit. I think Facundo also consoles Stan.
Camelia finds out where Emi is, and visits him. She is super repentant for what she did, killing his father. She explains that Emilio Sr. never told her he was married and had a child. And she loved him with all her heart. So now, she wants to provide for Emi, and give him love, and take care of him, if he'll let her. She also talks about his unborn baby half sister, who was killed by the gunshot, who was Emilo, Sr.'s daughter. It's a moving speech. Emi shakes his head, nope.
Later, Antonio hears, and he's outraged that Camelia wanted to support the son of that no good Emilio. Antonio seems to be suffering from his gunshot wound. We later find out that it got infected, it wasn't treated, and he has very little chance to survive!
Mireya goes with Alacran to a deserted road, where her father Dionisio is being transferred. The cowboys stop the cop car, pull their guns, and Dionisio is freed! Mireya is overjoyed. Alacran tells Dionisio that Mireya is one remarkable young lady. Her Dad agrees, he's proud of her. Alacran and Mireya hug, both saying te quiero, they're parting since Alacran thinks she'll now go with her Dad. Actually, she later tells her Dad that she can't abandon Camelia, so she gives Dionisio money, and says she'll meet up with him someday.
Back at the ranch, Antonio is also angry when he finds out Alacran went off on this mission without his okay. Seems everyone's ignoring his orders. He's in charge isn't he?
He wants to make sure that the new routes are preserved, that deal with the General, and that Benigno gets to be governor. The General corners Lu, says you want to kill me. I'm going to give you a chance one day, and if you don't do it, I'll have the fun of squeezing the life out of your neck.
The General meets with Narciso. Narciso now wants to be Governor himself, not Benigno. The General doesn't want to anger Antonio, they need his routes, his experience. No we don't says Narciso, here's someone else who can do it - Arnulfo! Arulfo smiles, says he can do it, and he'll personally eliminate Antonio. The General seems a little non-committal, but I think he'll go along with it.
Antonio is too weak (he doesn't know his wounds were infected) to go personally, so he sends Lu and Camilia to inform Narciso and the General that they'd better put Benigno in as gov, and preserve the new pact. Arnulfo pops out, don't think so, ladies. He holds a gun to Camelia's throat. Apparently Narciso, Arnulfo and the General are calling the shots now.
The General gets Lu alone and hands her a loaded shotgun. Saying he's a man of his word, he says now's your chance to kill me. She aims, then lowers the gun. I knew it, he says, you don't have the guts! But she then raises the gun and shoots him in the family jewels! That's for all the women you raped and killed, she hisses, and THIS is for Tomasa! The shotgun blows his HEAD off!
But in another room, we see Camelia, strung up by her arms, at the mercy of Arnulfo!
thanks SO much Hombre!!!
this was an interesting show, but complicated, chopped up, and hard for me to follow.
some other things I remember is that Camelia did bring emilio home, Antonio kicked Mireya out, and Alma had a dream.
I was wondering what happened to Narciso (absent since Benigno kicked him unconscious), and so here he is with the General, Arnulfo, and his pink face.
I guess Cuquis is out of the action, now being the good wife at the ranch, (while being desperate for a man), maybe Rene should ask her to go to Colombia.
I can't believe the General gave Lu a loaded gun, of course earlier with Ruiz she couldn't shoot (something about Xiang's path in the afterlife), we knew that but the General didn't.
Did anyone know that the actress playing Jennifer is the daughter of Chiquinquirá Delgado? And why was Omar Germenos fired from UN NUEVO DIA??
Just headlines
Gerardo manages to weasel out of the confrontation with Carlos by saying he didn't know the deceased at the funeral but attended because of the other important folks who were there.
Vicki stands up to Elena in the hospital and says she won't come back to the House of Horrors. But Elena threatens to harm Emiliana if Vicki isn't there to prevent it.
Jorge tries to convince Lorena to go to a rehab he's picked out (and I assume would pay for). She's looking interested, but when he mentions it being for the good of the girls, a shadow crosses her face. Pretty sure she won't leave them alone with Elena.
Rottweiler braces Gabriel at his spot selling caricatures. He wants Jennifer to return to her apartment and threatens to murder either Gabriel or Jen if that doesn't happen.
Diego has an idea that maybe Jennifer could be installed somehow at Casa Serrano where Rottweiler and his crew would have no access.
Gerardo marches right in to the Guest cottage, grabs hold of Mondriana and plants a hot kiss on her. She doesn't resist and appears to kiss him back.
Thanks, Novelera.
I was watching while I was eating breakfast and doing other things so I wasn't paying that close attention. Did I hear Jennifer say that she doesn't know who her father is? That always suggests to me that a father/daughter reunion is in the future.
I can't imagine Elena welcoming Gabriel and Jennifer to the hacienda.
tidbits,
the story starts with Alma's dream, religious chanting and Alma opens a casket and screams, later she tells Antonio not to die, he says to stop making up dreams to get his attention.
the General stops by at breakfast, he and Antonio talk business, they decide to not make a big issue out of Narciso but for Antonio to deal with him man-to-man. (Antonio needs Benigno to be governor in order to control Arnulfo)
the General then talks to Narciso, who wants to remain governor, but the General doesn't know how he will be able to work around the Treviños, when, he brings in Arnulfo, who also knows the business, and has been expanding since Antonio has been busy of late, Arnulfo also wants his ranch back and the Treviño ranch and... and if the General will give him a hand he will take care of the Treviños.
Rene once again brings flowers to Camelia, invites her to Colombia, and says she can bring along Alma and Mireya, (is this a way to get Alma there, or is there something about Camelia he wants?)
Camelia called up the last Varela looking for emilio, who said he was old and not a babysitter and to try the San Miguel orphanage, like he told the other guy.
(the last half of the second segment at Telemundo was missing, where Stan talks to Ortiz about leaving and Rene talks to Alma)
Stan goes on a bender over abandoning emilio, spends the night in jail where Facundo gets him out, they bond on the love of their criminal girlfriends.
it was a moving scene Camelia asking emilio to come with her, (especially since he was breaking out of the place when she showed up) but he seemed stuck on the part that her baby would have been his half-sister, (I keep remembering an earlier show when Antonio remarked about Emilio getting back at him from the grave)
(a sick Antonio laying in bed telling everyone who's boss, reminded me of the Godfather)
Benigno tells Antonio that Dionisio escaped, Antonio knows how that could have happened, and kicks Mireya off the ranch, but she pleads her case, her loyalty to the Treviños, that it was her duty as a daughter, and tells him to live with it or to drag her out of there, so he sends her away and says they will talk about it later.
so the General sets up a meet between Antonio and Narciso, Lu convinces him to let her go, and he has Alacran get together his best guys to go with her because he wants Alacran to stay and take care of a new shipment, Camelia sees them going and steps in taking charge, but Benigno says they will both go, and Alma rubs it into Lu that Camelia is taking her place.
at the meet all of the escort is killed, Arnulfo has Camelia, Narciso excuses himself and leaves, the General has Lu and sends his army guys back to the station.
so now it's just Camelia, Arnulfo and Lu, hmmm.
Thanks, novelera, for your brief but helpful recap. I had the feeling that Rottweiler would have done more than just threaten Gabriel if a police car hadn't arrived at that moment, causing Rot and the other rotters to leave.
Jean, I too can't imagine Elena welcoming Gabriel and Jennifer. And there's also that young woman who works at the house (Susana?) who asked Marta about whether Gabriel's novia was a serious Novia. I suspect she, too, might cause trouble for G & J, or at least for J.
What I remember of what Jennifer told Marta and Rodrigo is this:
Her father disappeared when she was a baby, I think. I don't remember if she said she didn't even know who he is. What she did say was that her stepfather was cruel and smacked her around. And her mother stood up for him, so she left when she was 16.
I kind of thought Diego was hinting at Marta being able to install Jennifer in some remote bedroom and that Elena wouldn't even know she was there. I didn't get the impression that Gabriel would also move it. He'd obviously be recognized and persona non grata. That's kind of a crazy idea, but that's how I remember it.
The writers are definitely giving broad hints that Susana is going to end up spying for Elena. Elena said something to her about helping out if she wanted to grow up to be a fabulous person like Elena herself (after Susana overheard the angry words between Elena and Lorena) Last night, however, may have been about the fact that, if I remember correctly, Gabriel was doing some canoodling with Susana before he left Casa Serrano; and this curiosity might have just been about who Gabriel is with now. After all, telenovela writers don't like to let their characters ever get over a crush.
I'm all caught up and I must say that so far, my favorite character is Pepe.
Line o' the day:
Sofía to Beatriz: "Use your two neurons!"
Beatriz is the anti-Nina. It's funny that Debora Falabela made this one before Avenida Brasil. Beatriz is a total airhead.
So far, this seems pretty predictable but entertaining.
to Sue455 - your favorite character is Pepe - haha. I agree.
Beatriz and her mother giggling like nitwits all the time is a more than a little grating.
I only saw about the first third of today's episode but Gilmar threatening and bullying Viviana was unpleasant.
I'm guessing that we are going to have a Pygmalion type thing where Gilmar classes up Viviana to take the semen prize beating out Beatriz who is, as Sue said, an airhead.
Romy- Did you see tonight's episode? Laura sure is damn lucky that she has Isabel and Celina! Things were getting very ugly in the Senator's office, and I don't just mean his old, fat fugly self.
And can I just say again how much I love Edgar. He's exactly how I like my galans- sweet, romantic, faithful, respectful of the heroine, smart, but also strong, manly, and a man of action. However, I don't think the Senator is going to let him get away with opening that can of whup-azz on him like he did.
The truth about Elias needs to come out soon, so that he can get from that witch who calls herself his mother, but is really his kidnapper.
I missed most of today, but I have to say I laugh everytime Beatriz and her Mama come on. They are over the top and too funny. Beatriz is still trying to be the bebe Mama, please no. She only wants the money not the bebe.
I think it's interesting that they are showing Daniel and the plane he is on. It looks as if he is going to be a guardian angel for his family. It was touching when he was with his Dad in yesterday's capitulo at the car crash scene.
Oh, and Dr. Ricardo did tell his nurse? that he felt Francesca's house is haunted. How interesting.
Sue 455:
Thanks for the line of the day! I am still laughing. I'm with you about Pepe too ; ) He is one great dog. I think he sees Daniel, and I can't stand the fact Beatriz is always shooing him away.
Jean:
I saw the last half hour or so and I agree with you about Gilmar threatening Viviana. I don't like him at all and I'll bet he is going to work it like you said about Viviana being the bebe Mama. He said today, he got her a job at the house with Antonia. Antonia is very nice and will treat her right. I like how Antonia gossips with everyone about how she can't stand Beatriz and her Mama.
I am wondering about something though. Dr. Ricardo wants this bebe as a sort of replacement for Daniel. I hope he realizes this child may not be like Daniel at all. He was going on with Dr. Vincente about how he wanted a child just like Daniel and Dr. Vincente told him the child may have Daniel's genes, but may not be exactly like him. I hope Ricardo realizes this.
Mondriana and Ger make out, but she stops it. Until he tells her that they love each other and that’s the only thing that matters. We are sparred from seeing the rest.
Cami and Elena talk about CarlosRaul sliming on her. Elena tells her she understands, but the guy will be a good seller for the wines in Mexico.
Ricardo starts to give Eileen the “it’s not you, it’s me” (and he’d be right) but she shuts this down and tells him she knows exactly what he was thinking when he walked in, seeing her and Cami. He was picturing them fighting in bikinis. She continues her Eileen thing, and Ricardo laughs (which he’s never done with Cami, I hope he realizes some day). Then the romantic music fizzes out when he kisses her on the cheek and takes his leave.
Mondri and Ger apparently didn’t get much further, because we’re back at the guest house where Mondri stops again. He tries again to convince her to leave with them, but she has too many things to think about. He leaves, but tells her he loves her and has done things for her that he wouldn’t have done for himself. She looks confused.
Some guy hits on Maite at La Malquerida, but Anselmo steps in to stop him. She thanks him for everything he did with a kiss.
Gabe talks to Diego about putting some of Anselmo’s gang in front of the pension, but Diego tells him that just because they aren’t as bad as Rottweiler, they are still delinquents, Then Gabe gets a call from his father. Someone has broken into the bookstore and destroyed everything, writing “Regresa a Jennifer” on the outside.
Mondriana goes to Selma’s to check in on her, and proceeds to spend most of the time talking about herself and Gerardo. But Selma did ask about him, and she’s overwhelmed with the death of Esteban, so I guess this is tolerable. They talk about the excuse Ger gave about the bracelet, and how “sincere (gag) he was when he told Moni he loved her. He loves her even though she’s in this body, without money or possessions. Selma tries to talk sense in her. It’s not working.
Gabe calls Jennifer to warn her about the shop and Rottweiler looking for her. Rod starts looking around for something and Marta accuses him of looking for alcohol. He’s distraught because they destroyed everything he had, everything he built with money that Monica Serrano gave him. She gives him some water to get rid of the taste of bitterness. But he still goes on about why Gabe chose this one girl, out of all of them in the barrio. He wants to argue about the past. “No te achicopales”, she tells him. (I can't find a good translation of this. Something like don't get down, don't let me down, but those don't seem to fit the situation. Thoughts?)
Then Ricardo is giving Gabe crap about how he should have been more careful. Ric. Jeez. Gabe wants to go see Jennifer, but Diego says he’ll go since he lives at the pensions, and the dog gang could be around watching Gabe.
Eileen and Vale talk about the funeral, and how Selma didn’t tell her what happened with all the secrecy. Eileen figures her other and Mondri are spies and that’s why they are so secretive about whats going on. Naturally. Eileen says Eileen-things that I don’t have time to try to figure out. But Vale is the positive, overly romantic one now, because when Diego said he and Mondri weren’t a couple and he already had a girlfriend, he looked at Vale in the mirror.
Elena and Ger arrive at Ernesto, and she is still giving him grief about the tape she thinks he sold. Who’s the real Rottweiler in this show? She will not let this go. Ger takes Ernesto’s side (since he’s the one who got him into this mess). He smooth talks her, but she’s not gullible like certain other people in this show. But the kissing finally works and she shuts up.
Mondri still hasn’t stopped about Ger. Selma reminds her the body is on loan and she has no idea when Adriana will come back. This goes on some more.
Cami remembers the argument with Ric. Pffftt. Emi comes into her room to chat and they talk about Eileen. Emi likes her. And why wouldn’t she? Eileen is anything but a sourpuss.
At Lupe’s pension, Lupe, Diego and Jennifer talk about the bookstore. Jen thinks it’s her fault but Lupe and Diego say otherwise. And Lupe also blames women who let themselves be treated like property, and she tells Jen she was brave. “Amarrese los pantalones y no eche para atras”, says Lupe. (I couldn’t find a good translation of this either, but I think the idea is that you put your pants on and don’t look back/back down. She’s made her decision and she needs to move forward).
The “good” gang show up at the bookstore. Chalado, the leader, asks who did it, but Rod doesn’t care. He says that with the few client he had and with all the extortion he paid, he never got a security camera. Chelado want’ to defend his territory, but Rod doesn’t want any part of it. He doesn’t day what really happened to prevent a war.
Next day. Marta tells the girls what happened. Elena wants to send flowers to Selma and Mondri goes to get the address.
Rod is moping at breakfast, but it looks like they got things cleaned up. Gabe tries to give him his own savings, but Rod takes it badly. The $1000 (from drawing caricatures??) won’t help and what he wants is to know why Gabe acted before he thought. He’s being a jerk. He yells at Gabe and blames him for this. But Gabe is like, what? You want me to abandon the woman I love? Gabe storms out, ignoring Rod who wants to talk more.
Mondri runs into Ger in the hall, but Elena interrupts before he can say much, wanting to meet in the office in 5 minutes. Mondri overhears,
The Chalado gang shows up at the pension. Lupe yells at them. They want to talk to Jennifer, but you don’t mess with Lupe. Diego defends her as well. The gang just wants to talk to her, but Lupe says she’s not there. Only Maite. There’s more arguing and Lupe threatening them with a broom.
Cami calls her uncle about Vicki going to live with her. They’ll miss her and it’ll be a good excuse for them to go visit him as well. They plan on meeting at the hospital to sign some papers. She says “bye” which Telemundo feels the need to translate. (Pretty sure Mexicans know what that means, just as most Americans have heard “adios”). The lawyer assistant accountant, or whatever he is, meets with Jorge and tells him he hasn’t found any Monica in San Francisco.
Office. Elena drags Ger in and they get a little kissing time in. But guess who is in the secret lair watching? Mondriana! She’s shocked. Venganza Time”!
Kelly
I forgot to add that it came out in someone's conversation that Ricardo's middle name is Casiano, the same name Viviana was muttering in her sleep while in the hospital.
Mads: I don't remember what happened to Dr. Albieri in "O Clone" but if he's still in Brazil I suggest that Ricardo go to see him. There might be some of Daniel's cells or DNA lying around on his belongings. Then Ricardo will have his carbon copy of Daniel. BTW, Dr. Albieri was played by Juca de Oliveira, Santiago from AB.
Yes, Sue, I was thinking that this novela is like El Cuerpo del Deseo meets El Clon! Ricardo is a doctor so I hope he knows that Daniel's semen will only contribute half the genes to a baby. I think we can assume that his judgement is still clouded by grief.
I didn't notice Beatriz' voice at all. I'll have to listen for that.
Thanks so much for the great, snarky recap, Kelly. It was so good that I feel no need to actually watch the episode. "Who is the real Rottweiler in this show?" indeed.
I will not be able to post my recap of Thursday's capitulo on Friday morning as usual but since both Friday's and Monday's episodes are preempted, I have plenty of time to do it this weekend.
I watched more of Wednesday's episode. Who knew that heaven was such a hierarchical place with levels and and an obligatory "angel time" show.
terrific recap Kelly!
¡No te me achicopales!
here is something goggle turned up,
http://www.juanofwords.com/2014/04/achicopales/
Camelia is hanging from her arms, and Arnulfo is mocking her as usual. He also decides to torture her a little, feeling her body, burning her with cigarettes, putting acid on her fingers! She says he'll end up in hell, but he laughingly says she'll be there, too. He killed her mother, and he's going to lure Antonio here, kill him, and then kill Camelia. He's also going to burn down the Trevino ranch with everyone in it. What a guy.
Lu is back at the ranch, Antonio isn't happy that Camelia is being held by Arnulfo, and Lu also then admits she killed General U - it was his life or mine, she says. Benigno (I think) has an idea which can turn this to their advantage (I forget who had the idea, but it sure was cool!)
Here's what they do. Benigno goes to meet Narciso, and says I'm sorry, I shouldn't have hurt you, but I can't live without you. Please don't let our love be over. They go into the kitchen to get something to drink. One of Antonio's men sneaks in, and puts the shotgun which was used to kill General U under Narciso's sofa!
Later, they arrange to have the body discovered by the cops, and maybe someone anonymously tells them to check out Narciso's house. So Ortiz arrives at Narciso's place, Narciso says what are you doing, I'm the acting governor. They ignore him, search the place, find the gun, and HE's arrested for the murder of the general! Later, in jail, he tells Ortiz he was set up, but so far, he has no proof.
Antonio is dying, and he knows it. Alma feels guilty, her dream is coming true. Little Emi consoles her, tells her his Dad taught him to be brave. He even starts teaching her how to ride a bike!
Antonio tells Alacran to have Facundo brought in. Facundo is captured, tied up, brought in. Antonio says untie him. He then says you have to rescue Camelia. I know where she's being held. And after that, you need to take her away. If I get through this, I'll turn myself in. Facundo says I'll do it, but not for you. It's because I love her.
Facundo calls up Stan to help. Stan goes right to Arnulfo's lair, starts talking to Arnulfo in English, saying things like I want to question you about Antonio, and about Camelia. Arnulfo can't understand a word. So Stan says how about I tell you I'm gonna destroy you, you scumbag, and all your lowlife friends! Arnulfo still doesn't understand this English, but a huge truck, driven by Facundo crashes through the gate, shots are fired, Facundo shoots off Cami's chains, and she's rescued!! On the way back, he gives her a chain with a cross (which maybe we saw before, but I can't remember).
Back at the ranch, Antonio is on his deathbed, wants to say goodbye to his family members. Alma tells him she did terrible things, he says, you're just a child, it's okay. Antonio wants to listen to the radio. He hears the good news that Narciso was blamed for General U's death. Then Benigno gives a speech on the radio, telling all the people that they'll be united, and he can lead them, as their next governor.
Camelia is brought in, to the great relief of Antonio. He tells Facundo remember our second deal? (that he'll take her away). Facundo nods. Surrounded by Benigno, Alacran, Mireya, Alma, Lu and Camelia, Antonio tells them all that the most important thing in life is family. And he's happy to have his here, as he prepares to say goodbye.
He calls Camelia close, and tells her he's so sorry for sending Emilio after her, can she ever forgive him? Tearfully, Cami tells him there's nothing to forgive. Antonio asks if Arnulfo was killed, Cami assures him he was. Then Antonio can die happy. Camelia says, I love you, Papa. You called me Papa, says Antonio joyfully, and then calmly passes away in Camelia's arms.
But I think Arnulfo's alive!!!!!
wow, Hombre,
you write such wonderful recaps!
all of these seemingly laid-back people have me sitting on the edge of my chair, to see what happens next, this has been like one long gran final.
so easy to underestimate Arnulfo, with that goofy smile, but isn't he the clever one, always one step ahead, so he lets Camelia think she can escape and then waits for her, and laughs.
(but I'm missing his straight man, Jacinto)
and always playing with his big pocket knife, not so funny, he cut little holes in Camelia's shirt so that he could stick his cigarette through to burn her belly.
poor guy that he had pushed into the barrel of acid face first.
Stan and Facundo are so cool together, they are like brothers, and Stan talking to Arnulfo in English was cracking me up.
(I don't know about the necklace Facundo gave Camelia, but didn't Camelia wear a different necklace earlier)
I have never trusted Lu or anything she has ever done, except that she has always loved Antonio.
and what really amazes me, is that with all the things Alacran has done for the Trevinos, whenever Antonio calls for him, he is always about 5 steps away.
it was interesting that Alma went to Antonio and confessed all of her evil doing, and Antonio apologizing for not believing her dream, forgiving her, and I think getting her to accept Camelia,
(so where's Rene)
and what a sad day it was at the Trevino house.
Great recap, Kelly. Muchas gracias.
I had trouble with the same two phrases you mentioned. In various places, I saw archicopalarse defined as "to feel intimidated," and achicopalar as "to embarrass," and achicopalado as "gloomy, depressed." All of which is making me feel a tad achicopalada.
Speaking of translation, yes, I too have noticed that Spanish TV provides captions for totally obvious words like "bye" and "mom."
Duh.
Kelly, loved your recap! Especially "Who's the real Rottweiler here?" I keep expecting Gerardo to blow up at her for the overbearing, beating a dead horse way she speaks to him and to Ernesto. But then I guess his years as a gigolo have taught him patience with women.
Elena doesn't disappoint, does she. When Cami was griping about Carlos/Raúl, she promptly blamed his presence on Gerardo, thus keeping up her game of pretending to be on the girls' side and against Gerardo.
All I can say about Mondriana peeking through the peephole into the office is: Yippee!! I was certainly surprised. I expected some more days, if not weeks, of Mondi being on the fence about him and, after last night's passionate kisses, maybe another roll in the hay.
I think it's Juanita who finds Emi annoying. I don't. I think the girl is delightful and enjoy every scene she's in. She and the actor playing Camila really seem like sisters to me. And Emi is the only one who seems to get Sourpuss to smile.
It's interesting what they've done with Rodrigo. When they first introduced him, he was still drinking, although not too much. And he was depressed and obsessing over his stolen screenplay that won an Oscar for the guy who stole it. Then, having his sons live with him seemed to warm him up, especially their tender care after he was shot. Now that the bookstore has been trashed, he's lapsed back into negativity. But I can see his point. The whole Rottweiler thing got fired up again because Gabriel and Jennifer were openly smooching somewhere and were see by a gang member. Why didn't they avoid each other except in her perfectly good apartment? No drama there, I guess.
the Friday/Monday prime time schedule has been rather illusive but I 'think' it is now,
Friday
"La Impostora"
"En Otra Piel"
secret chapter of "El Señor de los Cielos"
Monday
2 hr special of "El Señor de los Cielos"
"El Señor de los Cielos 2"
(but you might want to check it out yourself)
(wow, watching this show a second time with english captions added a whole new dimension)
tidbits,
Arnulfo explains his dad's watch (which he is wearing) to Camelia,
when he took too long his dad would beat him with his belt while having Arnulfo say, "time is money", and then he goes on to show her,
when the watch is here,
100 men, who love to kill, will show up to make me strong,
and here,
we will burn the Trevino ranch, not even the ants will escape,
and I will get my ranch back,
and here,
I will be the municipal president.
and when Camelia says he will go to hell, he says he will kill all of the Trevinos first, so together they will go on making their lives impossible.
as Arnulfo is dropping acid on Camelia's hands he says,
scream all you want, we are amongst friends,
just don't pass out, I don't like talking to myself.
Antonio and I used to be good friends,
until he showed his love for the Chinese.
he also tells Camelia that it was Lu that warned him about his ranch that brought him back to town, and that he was trying to kill Antonio when he killed her mother.
elsewhere,
Antonio/Facundo, he says Arnulfo wants to exchange Camelia for me, but what he really wants is for me to watch him kill her,
he then goes on to express his guilt for Camelia, I set off a chain of events that killed her innocence, (and why he wants Facundo to take her away), is for Camelia to have that second chance.
Antonio/Alma he says she is a girl with extraordinary powers, but still young, and he wants her to use her abilities for the good, and to not harm Camelia.
alma/emilio, he is teaching her to ride a bike because... she will need to know how AFTER her eye surgery in Colombia.
Antonio/Lu, she admits to killing the General, he had asked her not to, but what choice did I have,
you could have killed Arnulfo or Narciso, he says, sure you weren't enjoying your revenge?
it was Ben's idea to frame Narciso, he seems to be IN good with the "party" and announced there will be a special election for governor in 30 days.
always funny that when someone says something like Antonio wants to see you, and Alma says I can't see him.
Cuquis is just as tough as the rest of the people here, just a different style, I'd like to see her back in the action.
Romy- Laura is cutting off her nose to spite her face. She spouts off about men not respecting women, and wanting their wives to be subservient to them. And even though she actually has a husband who respects her and wants a true partner, not a subservient doll as a wife, she still pushes him away to make her point. Yes, Laura, it's unfair and horrible how women get treated. But guess what? You're luckier than most because you have an amazing man by your side. Why squander that? After last night, I want to see her chasing after Edgar and wooing him back. She broke his heart, AGAIN.
They did it! Yes, our clever writers gave us a really exciting, really fun gran final.
With Antonio dead, Camelia has decided to take charge. She's his daughter, so she's the new patrona. What about Lu? Cami has Lu tied up. Lu asks Alma to free her, but she won't. Camelia tells everyone that the viewing will be in the Town Hall, tomorrow. Antonio was a hero, and everyone should get to pay their respects. In the meantime, Cami needs to kill Arnulfo!
Benigno visits Narciso in jail. Narciso first tries niceness, saying he never betrayed Ben. Yeah, right. When this doesn't work, he threatens Ben, he'll bring down all his power on the Trevino family. Ben gets right back at him. Sorry, bud, not this time. I'm having you transferred to the State prison. He gives the orders to Ortiz, who doesn't want to do it, but Ben is the future governor, and Ortiz has to go along.
Rene is moving along on his plans to take Alma and Camelia to Colombia. He tells Alma that Camelia will be her new mother. And together, he and Camelia will control all the business. Alma knocks over her juice, saying you're wrong. Cami would never go. She's stubborn, and she also loves a policeman. So forget it. Alma wants Emi to go with her, but he's promised Camelia he'll give her a chance, so he can't go.
While Ben was lining up Narciso's transfer, he left Cookies in charge. But Camelia (and everyone else) left (more on this later), so Cookies is unable to stop Rene from taking Alma, which he does. When Ben gets back, he's initially mad at Cookies, but then realizes she's always backed him, and the two of them kiss and make up.
So where's Cami? She tells everyone today is the day of reckoning. Arnulfo Navarro must be killed today. If not, one day he'll come and kill all of us. Alacran and Mireya point out that Arnulfo's men outnumber our guys 2-1. No matter, says Cami, we're smarter, and we're fighting for the Trevino ranch. She gives a rousing speech to the ranch hands. Don't fight for me. I haven't earned it. Do it for your families, and for the Trevino name. They're ready.
The idea is to ambush Arnulfo's guys on the highway. Cami, Alacran, Mireya (she says she's with Cami to the end) and all the ranch hands ride out to a deserted stretch where Arnie will come through. Cami parks a little Thunderbird convertible across the road, everyone else hides in the bushes on the two sides. Alacran has a bazooka! He and Mireya finally give each other LOTS of kisses. There's no doubt about those two now!
Back in town, Ortiz tells Facundo he should arrest Cami. For what? She's been cleared of the Emilio Varela murder, what else? The murder of General U, says Ortiz. Facundo says there's not a shred of proof. Besides, when the General was killed, Camelia was held prisoner by Arnulfo. I know. You saved her, cowboy? responds Ortiz. You've really lost your way. Facundo disagrees. No, Ortiz, General U was a bad man, he deserved to die. And Camelia didn't do it. So I'm doing the right thing.
McQueen says we just heard there's people massing out on a deserted highway, must be a confrontation between the Trevinos and Arnulfo. Ortiz says don't get involved. Facundo can't believe it, are we going to stand idly by? The three of them head for the scene. They arrive, see Cami's car in the middle of the road.
And here comes Arnulfo! He's got about 15 men, four trucks, riding high. He stops the trucks in front of Camelia, who is standing there defiantly, wearing a crisp white shirt, tight jeans, boots, a spanking new cowboy hat, that belt buckle with the hole in it, and two six guns stuffed into her belt behind her back.
Arnulfo approaches her with all his men. He mocks her as usual. Cami had told the guys to wait for her signal. Facundo can't wait, despite Ortiz's pleas, he starts running down the hill toward the scene. Cami tells Arnie he's reached the end of the line. Arnie laughs his smug laugh, says, I enjoyed killing your mother, just as I'll enjoy killing you! Camelia SLAPS him.
That was the signal! Alacran fires the bazooka, a direct hit on a bunch of oil (or acid) drums, sitting on one of Arnulfo's trucks, and it explodes! Facundo is knocked back by the heat. In the confusion, Arnie's men look around, but Cami's men start firing from both sides, determined to win the fight, and sure enough, in about 30 seconds, all of Arnie's men lie dead.
Except him. Camelia stands over him, points her gun at him, saying this is for the memory of my mother! As you go to hell, always remember you were brought down by Camelia la Texana! She aims, and shoots him dead in the heart!
They did it! Cami, Alacran, Mireya and Emi (how did he get there?) stop for ice cream. Maybe Benigno and Cookies are in the truck, too, but it definitely is one happy family. They head off down the road, Yippee Kay Yay!
And Facundo? He gets a big motorcycle, and heads off down HIS highway!
The end (or is it?) :)
Jean, I know you'll be putting up a recap at a later date. But last night was certainly a stunner. I thought they'd just go with Mondriana seeing Gerardo and Elena kissing from her peephole in the secret room. But she heard a lot more than that!
I think we've seen the last of sweet, trusting Mónica/Mondriana!
Hombre, I enjoyed your recap. I haven't been watching this one, but it sounds like a great ending. You write like a screenwriter!
wow Hombre, that was the greatest recap,
and what a wonderful story this was.
I think that car was a Sunbeam.

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg167/metervik/Camelia%20la%20Texana/60e1_zpsc3074d22.jpg
the day before, Arnulfo was bragging about all of the gasoline he was going to use to burn down the Trevino ranch, I guess Camelia remembered that.
also the day before, Antonio's last words to Alacran were, to never quit a Trevino, which set up him up going with Camelia over Lu.
and Lu is now gone, as well as Alma, imagine how good life will be without those two troublemakers.
(pic)
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg167/metervik/Camelia%20la%20Texana/60e2_zps117cb96d.jpg
and how about the man-in-black (Antonio's ghost) giving Camelia the nod.
and I guess Facundo got fired, ha!
he will always be the man Camelia loved.
I'm ready for season 2.
Hi Novelera: I haven't even watched the episode yet so now I am eager to see what happened. I will try and put up the recap Sat morning.
ah yes novelera,
Monica was truly having a bad night,
I surely hope that she can also see how totally outgunned she is,
and gets smart about it.
(there is a show tonight)
I remember before Figeroa died he told Elena and Gerardo that if he ever died he had evidence and associates that would throw the 2 in jail. Whatever happened to that evidence?
NovelaMan, I think Figueroa's protective evidence that would be triggered if he had a sudden death has either been forgotten by the writers or it was just a threat and never existed. Another possibility might be that the evidence would be revealed if he were murdered. And Carlos apparently fooled the cops into believing it was suicide.
I didn't catch much of yesterdays show. I did watch today for the most part. I did like that Gilda went and hunted Ricardo down but gave the message to Vincente about Daniel. Bea tried to prevent it, but she got shot down. I am liking Vincente. He knows just how bad Sofia and Bea are.
I liked the reunion with Daniel on his plane with his Mama and his Grandparents. It was very sweet. Daniel is rooting for Victoria being the bebe Mama of his bebe.
I liked Daniel appearing to Antonia it scared the crap out of her too.
I didn't like Bea catching Victoria in Daniel's room, but I do like Pepe sticking close to Victoria, especially when nasty Gilmar was spying on her undressing. I am so glad Pepe ran him off.
It will be awhile before Vincente convinces Ricardo about the afterlife/ reincarnation thingy. Ricardo isn't buying it and Daniel is trying so hard to make himself appear before Ricardo. I wonder why Daniel can appear before Anontia, but can't in front of his Papa.
Oh, and the staff is so very nice to Victoria, poor thing, being pushed into this job by Gilmar, but I'm glad Ricardo did stick up for her, when he told the two brujas that she was working there, but studying so she could get a better job and then Vincente sticking it to Bea, about she could do something as well, lol. Bea is an indolent.
Funniest scene was when Gilda's sister's wigs got wet in the night, too funny.
not too many tidbits on this one,
(and I hope none of my late day comments ever distracted from any of Hombre's wonderful recaps)
Facundo had always considered Camelia as a victim of circumstance, but if she CHOOSES to kill Arnulfo, things would change, and it did between them.
Alma was happy that Rene was coming for her, but when he said Antonio had promised him Camelia's hand in marriage, that she was coming with them and would be Alma's mother, well, that all went south, so Alma took him out to meet Lu, and they both spit venom on him till he changed his plans, poor Rene.
Alacran remarked that a lot of guys didn't show up because they were scared/uncertain, which I think, prompted Camelia's speech.
when Mireya was afraid of everyone dying, Alacran told her she would look nice dressed as an angel, (this is my favorite couple of the year).
I thought at the end, Facundo and Camelia's ways would cross, but they didn't.
Wow, that was quite an episode Thursday night! I had my heart in my mouth after Mondri let out her first audible gasp at the revelations she was hearing (which were even more dramatic than what she was seeing). And then she made more noise, and both Gerardo and Elena heard the noises and began to investigate. I thought for sure that they'd discover her, but apparently they didn't. The usually cautious and paranoid Elena dismisses the noises as just rats. That dismissal seemed strange, coming from her.
Now that Mondri is fully aware of the treachery of Elena and Gerardo, I wonder how she'll manage to deal with it. She doesn't strike me as a good poker player.
Deb, thank again for your observant comments (and for identifying that car!). I really liked this show, for the wild west feel (even though it was in the 70's), and especially for the music, which I thought was really exceptional, using many diverse styles, giving each character some sort of theme. And although we never saw a Season Two of any normal novela until El Señor 2 which is coming up next, this one definitely could have a Season 2, the way they ended it (as you pointed out).
El Señor de Los Cielos 2:
I'm going to be watching this one, but I probably won't be able to recap much. We'll see. I do like Carmen Villalobos.
I will miss your recaps of a wonderfully case, acted and written show. It was unique, funny and never predictable. It was just the right length. I loved the music for reasons mentioned by deb? The costumes were great and actually modest by novels standards. I would enjoy another season.

Novelera regarding figueroa and the evidence I think its a loose end but its possible that Carlos/Raul had the evidence of foul play in case Fig died and of course Carlos/Raul betrayed Fig in favor of Elena and Gerardo.
Mondriana is in the secret room watching Elena and Gerardo through the peephole. First, she sees them kiss. They say how much they love each other. Elena says that she doesn't want them to have to hide their relationship any more. She wants to sell the house and have a place just for them. Then Gerardo warns Elena not to kill Vicky – she has killed too many people already. Not so, replies Elena, we have only killed the notary and MÓNICA!
Mondriana can't contain a cry of horror. Gerardo and Elena hear her but Elena decides that it is only the rats that she heard there before. Now Mondriana remembers her murder (several times) plus a whole lot of other stuff. She is destrosada. In the grip of her memories, etc., she doesn't hear Gerardo say to himself that he didn't actually kill Mónica but he stood by and let it happen without saying anything.
Ricardo comes to help Selma and Eileen deal with Esteban's ashes. He almost makes a declaration to Eileen but they are interrupted by Selma's return.
Vicky gets out of the hospital and at the last minute says that she wants to return to the Serrano house and not go to Jorge's place. Before finding out about this, Susana tells Marta that they will need someone else to help in the house if Vicky isn't going to be there. You can see the wheels turning in Marta's head – this could work as a hiding place for Jennifer.
Then we have “The Gangs of LA.” The Chalado gang comes to Doña Lupe's house looking for Jennifer. Gabriel and Diego claim that she isn't there. Diego argues for the right of Gabriel and Jennifer to be together but the Chalado guys point out that isn't the way the barrio works. They are about to search the place when Jennifer reveals herself. The gang gives her until the next day to get out of the barrio.
Diego goes to Martín and asks him to intervene with the gangs on behalf of Gabriel and Jennifer but Martín tells him that the deal was that Gabriel was to stay away from Jennifer and he didn't so Martín's not going to interfere.
Gabriel and Jennifer are about to leave to go to a motel when the Puppy gang shows up outside Doña Lupe with torches just like the peasants in a Frankenstein movie. They demand that Jennifer be handed over to them or they will torch the house. Diego orders Lupe to hide the girls, Gabriel to stay inside and he goes out alone to confront the gang. Nobody calls the police. However, Lupe calls Rodrigo who shows up to stand with Diego. Just then, the Chaldo gang rolls up. I guess there's gonna be a rumble.
Finally, everyone in the Serrano house is tucked up in their beds when they hear a piano being played. It's Mondriana, of course, playing in the secret room. Everyone agrees that it sounds just like Mónica Serrano playing.
I could do without the scenes with the gangs, but it doesn't look like they're going away anytime soon. I simply can't believe the police ignore East LA the way the Miami Telemundo writers believe. They even have helicopters flying over certain areas at times.
I was surprised they went with Mondriana remembering her murder. I expected she'd spend some time trying to figure out how they did it. That certainly was a dramatic scene as we saw her listening to Elena's gloating and trying to jump Gerardo's bones right there in the office.
I knew Vicki would elect to come back to the House of Horrors. Jorge is somewhat on to Elena, but hasn't really grasped how bad she is.
Many thanks, Jean, for your excellent jueves recap. I held my breath through all the scenes with Mondri watching and listening to Elena and Gerardo, especially after Mondri let out some audible gasps. I was afraid E & G would find her, and the only question would be whether Elena would kill her or Gerardo would stop her from doing so. None of that happened this time, but I wouldn't be surprised if we get a similar confrontation later. You mentioned Gerardo's thinking sadly to himself (and to us) that he may not have killed Monica, but he let it happen. I wonder whether that may give us a clue as to what he might do differently if Elena tries to kill Mondri.
Probably won't happen, but on Monday, when we likely get a scene of BSC Elena grilling Mondriana about her not being in the Guest House when they came looking, I'd like to see her smile slyly and hint she might have been with Diego!
Novelera, I loved your suggestion about Mondri's possible response to Elena's grilling. Whether or not it happens, we probably won't see it until Tuesday. I think Monday is apparently given over to some kind of narco background at 7, followed by what I think is a 2-hour (8-10) recap of season 1 of "El Señor de los Cielos," followed by the first episode of El Señor, season 2.
Hmmm...I just re-read my last message. In spite of what I said, if novelera's suggestion doesn't turn out to be what happens, we won't see on Tuesday. Duh.
Arrgh, my Befuddled Twin has been posing as me today. What I meant to say is "we won't see it on Tuesday."
Time to crawl back under my rock. :-)
Juanita, thanks to you and the Befuddled Twin for reminding me we won't have a normal Monday. This could be a good thing as I can skip my recapping day and bear down on a novel I need to have finished for a Thursday night book club.
What I will do is a recap on Tuesday instead since we have no regular person for that night. I'll try to remember some of what happened Friday and put that in as well.
