La Gata #108 1/30/15 The Plot Thins, No Thickens...Strike that....Thins...
Most of the first 30ish minutes were crap and filled with flashbacks (*snort* I think I'm being generous.)
- Refrito
- Pablo looks at a picture of Esme the Revolutionary and can't believe he painted it. Neither can I. She didn't go revolutionary until he was in Valle del Bravo getting shot. Whatever continuity crew.
- Apparently his work induces headaches and flashy flash-backs since he started clutching his head, writhing on the floor and moaning. (I may have done the same.)
- Lo goes to see Fer. They exchange barbs. She didn't even thank him for not putting her in jail. Rude. Ruder still...she shoots the guy! Ok, she missed...still rude. Fer calls her a black widow. I remember that Meche came running. I'm pretty sure Dam came running, too. Did anyone call the cops? Hell no. Meche just said something about making sure Lo made it out the door.
- Lo heads home and confesses to Augie that she shot Fer, but failed to kill him. She launches into a bleaty monologue about failing...as a wife, as a mother. She goes upstairs and bleats some more. She says something about she *can't* have these feelings about Fer? QTF? I'm begging you...please tell me I'm misunderstanding something.
- hmmmm. Then what happened? OH! Jarocha is getting made up by Esme for her coffee date with the PI. Jarocha is still worried about him discovering her past.
- Pabs and Mariano confront their mother and tell her she is going to face justice for what she's done. They will still make sure she has money to live though. I'm not sure Pablo or Mariano really understand the concept of "justice".
- Pablo has his memory back. He knows Gi shot him, but he didn't remember that you're supposed to report that shit to the police.
- Pablo and Esme had a conversation we've heard before (we've made mistakes, we didn't trust... blergh.)
- Lo and Gi had a conversation we've heard before (Ok. It was "new." Gi said "cochinada gata" instead of "maldita gata".)
- Osorio informs Blanca and Fer that the crooked judge was given 10 years in jail.
- The writers have remembered that Esme is supposed to be in school. She even says she's graduating soon. Anyway, she plans to spend the episode studying. Ah! That's when Pablo came in and said he remembered everything and that Gi shot him. (see above) Esme lets him take the babies for a walk.
- Tilico is hiding out at Rita's. QTF? (take 2) I must be blocking out all past episodes...did everyone just let Tilico go after they caught him trying to dump the never-growing babies? He manhandles his mom and threatens her. He wants money. Cha Cha comes to Rita's rescue and throws Tilico out.
- Carlos and Virginia enjoy fondue. That seems like a mean-ass thing to do to an actress who has to act blind. Cheese is stretchy and when you can't "see"....
- The PI and Jarocha seemed to have a nice date. He was a dedicated cop, and now he realizes he didn't take the time to marry or have a life. He asks Jarocha if she thinks it's too late for him to find a good woman and settle down. He attempts to get her to talk about herself, but she avoids answering.
- Tilico decides to go to Esme's and ask her for money. QTF? (take 3) Dude. You had her children taken away from her. You can drive a semi-truck through the hole in that plan. Needless to say, Esme refuses...even after he gets physical and waves a gun around. She manages to throw him out, but not before he threatens to make her pay. He will get his revenge!!!
- Javier comes to visit Esme. He brought Chinese! Thoughtful. He comments on how big the babies are are getting. Say it with me folks: Q.T.F?
- Hat and Vicky are planning to leave. She cries. Why can't she find happiness? Won't she ever find love? Broken record time: What is she? 12? Hat Bro reminds her that she picks the wrong guys. When she met Javier and he was with her best friend. Now her friend is dead and Javier won't give her the time of day (Ok. As I write it I realize it sounds bad, but I don't think there is anything dark here.) The doorbell rings and it's Damian. It looks like they are setting up to make Vicky and Dam a couple. Slow motion close ups seem to confirm this. He asks if she remembers anything about the day Pablo was shot. She really doesn't. As he leaves, he makes a comment about her pretty eyes. Oh yeah. They are totally getting together.
- Doc pressures Esme about his proposal. She asks for more time. There's some stuff in here where the doc talks about wanting to protect her and Esme picks up a weird vibe. I think we are supposed to pick it up on it. There is something in Javier's past that is making him feel guilty (Maybe it's just me.)
- Jarocha comes home from her date. PI tries to get Jarocha to open up about herself. He plants a big ol' kiss on her. Esme steers Javier back into the nursery so as not to interrupt. They are still there when Jarocha sees the PI out. And they are still there when Tilico comes back and pulls a gun on Jarocha.
- In a stunningly bad transition (not sure if it was Uni's scissors or Mrs. Latoodle-oo's), Esme and Javier enjoy the Chinese food and the doorbell rings. Esme thinks it's Jarchoa coming back. It's Pablo and he's not happy to see the doc. (Principe!)
- Carlos made lemonade.
- Pablo marks his territory.

Also, I was thinking something similar to you with the fondue. She appeared to be doing quite well for a blind girl, she knew where that string of cheese was for sure. Also, I agree with you, I don't think Lo's kids knowhow this justice thing works also.
Duuuuuuuuude! You didn't get it wrong! Lo got a hard on for Fernando. That is beyond gross! Mariano calling Lo a hyena was hilarious, as was her disowning by the boys.
Jarocha? Taking love advice from Esme? Yeah, no.
I liked the fondue thing, but only because I got to allude to the whole "fondue" innuendo in the first Captain America movie.
OK, first Juan tries to rough up his own mother for money. Then he goes over to "Maldita Gata's" house and begs her for help? The most charitable thing I can say here is that perhaps Juan Garza was originally intended to be a different character from Tilico and they got sloppy about combining the two. So maybe Tilico had all the secret knowledge about Augie killing his boss, but Juan Garza was some other guy Esme had rejected who felt like he had cause to hate her? It's just a hot mess that I need to quit trying to make sense of.
Why does Esme keep acting like she's confused about Doc Javier's intentions when he's proposed once and reminded her about it fifty times since? What's so unclear about that? Again with the "give me time"? You don't need time! The answer is "no"!
"In a stunningly bad transition...." I noticed that, too. Even Mr. 5ft, who is still, ahem, Not Watching This Show Anymore, noticed. The cut was that bad.
Lo is starting to feel something for El Sil. QTH?
Fickle fickle fickle. That's exactly what Icky is. One minute she's crying over Dr. Javier then the next she is smitten at the sight of Damian.
I knew Doc had brought over Chinese when I saw the bag. What was it anyway? It didn't look like Chinese.
Poor Jarocha. I hated seeing her being kidnapped.
For such a long time, this TN has been little snippets of drama, interspersed with moments of boredom, and just randomly pasted together. Enjoyed seeing Lo dumped by her boys, although not that effectively.
Enjoyed the fondue scene, with Virginia managing the challenge rather well. She would still be pretty, even with cheese pasted all over her face. And Carlos would love to lick it off.
Hat-bro and Vicky. Why does Hat-bro wear his hat ALL the time? Most guys take their hats off in their own homes. Yes, a spark between Vicky and Damian. He deserves some love in his life, since he wasn't allowed to hitch up with Esme. Plus, that's another loss for Creepy Doc.
We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! teachers! leave the kids alone!
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
For example I, too, noticed the blind doctor mentioning how big the babies are getting.
I liked the fondue scene but--did Carlos really dip that marshmallow in cheese sauce?
As far as Lorenza, maybe she has had the hots for El Sil since she was young, and he spurned her advances. That would explain her hatred of him and his family.
Production note: when they put one of the babies' carriers on the white chair in Esme's apartment, I thought "That's Principe's chair..."
J in Oregon
Let me work my way backwards.
Corazón - I think it was cheese because she mentioned dipping the bread... But every other ingredient on the table was more for chocolate dipping (sorry Kat. I know you're up to your eyeballs in chocolate.)
J- we probably are going to find out that Lo has always had a thing for Fer. I wouldn't put it past the writers to hand us several new stories in these last few episodes. Mind you they will completely forget other plots like Dorila and Carlos.
La Paloma - you have described this show perfectly. I would have been fine with cut and paste snippets of drama if most of it had been drama. We've gotten more than our share of boring. For me that confirms that it's meant to be an "in the background" show. Teens and mothers can do homework or household chores and not have to pay close attention. Who first came up with that theory?
Mauricio- it looked like sweet and sour to me. Maybe some Lo Mein? I had to remind myself it was Chinese because it looked Italian to me.
Diva- so do you think the cut was Uni's? And once again you have come up with a better more logical way of writing this story. They really need to hire you!
La Gata/Esme
Centavito/Carlos
El Silencioso/Fernando
Fela/Blanca
Tilico/Juan Garza/Chucho (or whatever that third name was.)
Effi
You are so right of course. There's lots of talent in this cast, but everything else is so bad that the actors don't shine. I think Diva and others have said that when you are being asked to say ridiculous stuff it's kind of hard to give a great performance.
I don't think you are being horrid at all.
I'm holding out hope for La Sombra del Pasado. I hope it's good.
Such a mess is this show!!! And Jarocha not taking that awful scrunchy out of her hair for her date drove me crazy.
So docs ex died and now he wants to protect Esme. Misplaced feelings of guilt? Another last minute plot device that no one cares about? Yes!
DonaGringuita- Word to the infinite power. I don't know if I can ever like Marcelo again. I can't tell you how sad that makes me. He does indeed look foolish trying to act blind. They couldn't have made him the Hot PT guy? Yeah, that would have made more sense. You could still have a blind doctor, but the PT guy, who in theory works more with Esme, could have fallen in love with her. Ugh. Now *I'm* trying to rewrite and force logic into this mess.
LatinaMD-Thank you for stopping by!! I'm flattered that a title was good enough to get your attention. I truly struggle with titles and I ran out of feminine nouns long ago. Anyway, that's how I felt as I watched last night. "Ugh this is boring. Oh, that's interesting. Oh, boring again."
Carvivlie- Let's comiserate at the anti-scrunchy table! Now, I don't have a problem with scrunchies. I use them a lot when my hair is longer. But Leticia Perdigon is such a nice looking actress. She was not very nice in MPV, but she always looked great. I know she's supposed to be one of the basurero gente and they did sort of give her a fashion makeover, but is a hairbrush and a headband or neat ponytail too much to ask?
"you're supposed to report that shit to the police"
If this thing isn't a crime it should be but looks like the cast is having a grand ole time. When Esmeralda took the blind doc back into the kids room she hit him on the arm a little too hard and he playfully hit her as they both laughed.
Lorenza - "stand still laddy"
Jarocha - my number, well, it's over 10 and less than 500
Carlos - dammit Virginny, that's my eye
Javier - we're having dinner Pablo and there's "No soup for you"
Fernando - it's my burden in this life, hot & sexy manmeat
Juan - try please next time, no one likes a pushy door to door salesman
Esmeralda - "I'll think about it" i.e. the ass kissing feels so good I don't want to give it up just yet
Pablo - I ain't your babysitter while you chat up other dudes
Yep, and s far as double names don't forget Esme's birth name, "Renata". Why don't her parents call her that?
Is Garabato's frozen asset inheritance a sure thing? Does the law really just sit on an estate for decades in case an heir shows up?
J in O
I don't think they are going to worry about whether the inheritance plot makes sense or not. Just look at the paternity suit! I wonder if Ines will ever let Garabato have the baby.
Which reminds me- Lila if you are reading I meant to tell you how much I liked your mini rant against Ines on Thursday. That girl is working my nerves.
Let's bask in the glory that is La Gata's soon-coming fin and La Sombra del Pasado's soon coming estreno. I watched a little bit of it online and I will say my favorite character is Candela.
I wonder what and if any anvil is headed Aghastin's way.
Sara, just when you think this damn thing can't be even stupider we find out Lo has the hots for El Sil. . .and she likes it ROUGH!! What does she have to do for them to call the police, barbeque the twins on the courthouse steps?
What the hell is this crew smoking?
Yes, I'm tired of Javier as well. I could just smack that dopey creep! And what the hell is wrong with Esme? Pablo is trying to make a good will gesture toward reconciliation, taking THEIR babies out for a walk and she's having a light lunch with creepo? She might as well have been doing some heavy petting with him on the sofa!! Shit for brains chick!
Ah, that's enough! Your rant, Sara, and that of my other friends commenting is quite enough. Oh. And I actually watched this time!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this fine outburst!
Let me warn everyone that if the wedding dress turns out to be a dud I'm gonna be pissed. It's the only thing that's keeping me going at this point.
On the minus, well, everything else:
Low-rent-za shoots at Fer. Then they have a long argument. Then she shoots again and he rushes her (in his trademark slow motion), disarms her and they argue again. (Seems like) hours later, Meche and Damian walk-run into the room, "We heard shots!" No one calls the cops.
Juan Garza is taken to the pokey when he's caught with the babies at the dump. He sueltas la sopa on Low and, presumably, the corrupt judge (who in a super speedy trial WITHOUT any of the victims/witnesses present, is quickly sentenced to ten years) and, yet, he (Juan) is inexplicably set free and on the run from the cops. HUH? They just HAD him! He then shows up at Esme's to ask for her help (double "HUH?"); threatens her and takes off. She then immediately calls the police to report him and ask for protection, right? Wrong! Triple "huh?"!!
Creepo comes over with Chinese food and invites himself in. La Estupida, without a single thought to her babies' daddy who took them out for a bit and could walk back in at any moment, calmly smiles, sets the table and tells her date she needs more time to think about his proposal. Forget the fact that she had just mentioned to Pablito Loquito that their relationship had already suffered through too many "malentendidos." Don't like malentendidos, Gatita? Don't make none, won't be none!
Jarocha, comb your hair!! How could you have been any kind of successful in your previous "career" looking like that?
The mystery of the growth-challenged twins has been solved! They CAN'T grow! They live crumpled up in their stroller, their tiny baby carrier, or somebody's arms. They've never been put on a blanket on the floor or in a playpen where they can stretch, crawl learn to pull themselves up on the furniture, etc!
Sorry, long rant.
Oh, about Low-rent-za's "feelings" for Fernando. Contrary to some of the comments here, I didn't get the vibe that she was feeling "that way" about him. He had just told her off about what a lousy excuse for a human being she is and how part of her punishment for it was losing the love of her children. She then went home ranting to Augie about what a miserable failure she is. I took her, "How could I LET Fernando make me feel this way!" to mean that she cannot afford to let herself feel guilty or remorseful for anything she has done. She wants to remain a hard-ass and consequences be damned!
Just my opinion.
the gringo
Virginia was (virtually) kidnapped by her mother and taken to Italy to get her away from Carlos. They end up married anyway.
On Augie's orders, Esmeralda was snatched off the street, rendered unconscious, and had provocative photos taken, all to prove to Pablo what a "gata" she was and make him stay away from her. It didn't work and, of course, nothing was reported to the police.
Blanca was kidnapped (again by Augie) from the door of her house and kept isolated to try to make her lose her mental faculties again and keep her away from Fernando. Although there was no rush to find her, she basically rescued herself and regained her mind. She was gone for weeks but now she's (for all intents and purposes) happy with her husband. Police were not notified.
Pablo was basically kidnapped, knocked out and sexually assaulted by Gisela at the costume party for a few hours, then rescued by his mother, his brother, and his boo (Esme). He was obviously drugged, but, again - NO POLICE were involved.
The babies were taken from Esme and given to el imbecil de Juan Garza, who was caught red-handed and this time, there were police - BUT THEY LET HIM GO and now are running all over the city looking for him. (No wonder they never call police - what good are they?)
Let's try this again, thought Gisela: This time, I'll shoot him in the head and THEN kidnap him and pretend we're a happy couple. He simply walked away from her and was found by Fernando and taken to Esme. No memory, no harm done - no police (so far).
And now, Jarocha has been kidnapped by el fujitivo Juan Garza!
This tn should not be called La Gata - it should be El Secuestro!
I am amazed at Esme letting creepy Doc hang around, and I am amazed that the formerly jealous-at-the-drop-of-a-hat Pablo is putting up with it. Winston Churchill once said, "This is something, up with which, I will not put."
Okay, I have finally seen someone who is a worse pistol shot than me! For Lorenza to miss el Sil from 7 feet away strains logic.
5ft: "Lo got a hard on for Fernando..." had me laughing.
Tofie, loved your list as always.
Gringo, I have been experimenting with some new anvils made of spent nuclear material, which are more dense, and thus have more killing power than the regular iron ones. What do you think?
Geez, Louise, let this thing be over with already!!!
Thanks again, Sara. You rocked, rioted, wrote and ranted through this whole episode.

David
Ever since I started to watch telenovelas, I noticed the tiresome plot of "jones in love with Jill, Jill's in love with someone who's not in love with him..."in almost all of the novelas, and oh! I am so irritated how the characters are so stubborn and no shame at all in insisting their one true love as in this character, Javier. Uggh!
Give me more of "Amor Bravio" type please. La Gata sucks. I'm so glad we're nearing the end. I only watch it to read all the contributions of our fine bloggers and the recappers. They're more colorful than the tn itself.Anne
have all the tools and equipment that we need for a full production mode. It will be a snap to get them ready. We need to be sure to save one especially for Garza. After he kidnapped Gata's sweet babies, he was going to leave them for the rats to enjoy for dinner. This guy doesn't deserve to live.
the gringo
Which has been your favorite wedding from past Nasty DooDoo shows? My fave will always be the Mar de Amor wedding.
For those who are disturbed by the negative comments, there is a disclaimer right at the top of the site: Something to the effect of "We love to mock here; don't mistake it for real hate".

Smilin' on
And yes, despite being a mess I find myself thinking about La Gata more than I should.
Anon9:56- Everyone has opinions! This show seems to really push our buttons and we are letting out opinions fly all the time. Glad you chimed in with yours.
Anon3:51- You are so right! Your title is much better!
David- YES!!! Let's get those anvils in production!!
Anon2:03- I have a confession: I am becoming less and less interested in Televisa novelas. Even Que Te Perdone looks like a thrown together mess to me (granted, I have bad taste and can't seem to recognize quality.)
Corazon- I was actually a little disappointed by the CI wedding. I think that is what has me worried.
J- Agreed. I think it is the nature of the TN beast that at some point we are going to be not happy. The snark really helps us cope and IMO even if we start to really mock the show, we love the medium and the people who are with us. Thanks for reminding everyone of that.
