Lo Imperdonable #8 Wed 5/27/15 “Hearts Run the Gamut Once Again – from Aggressive Dueling to First Tender Kiss”
Labels: imperdonable
Thanks for the very prompt recap....great detail and I was waiting for it. I really enjoyed this episode and was dying to know what the conversation was between Vero and Martin. So we are getting right into the romance.....maybe the wedding? I do think Martin is so traumatized by his brother's death that he obviously isn't thinking too straight. Especially now that he has loving feelings for Vero. At this point I think a sane man would at least hire a detective to confirm or alleviate his suspicions of Vero's letter writing to Demetrio. I mean that would be what inquiring minds would want to know if falling in love with the object of revenge....don't ya think? Glad that Emiliano warned Martin to not ever hurt Vero. That might hold Martin in check for awhile until he finds out the truth.....(after skipping the detective and going full bore into revenge mode and hurting Vero) It shall all be revealed....eventually!

I just caught a glimpse of the recap, as I have to get ready for work, but I'll be back later with more comments.
Vero is already in love, Martin is in love/hate, so what does he plan to do next? He would never physically hurt her, that is not galan material. Emotionally, however...
All I can say on that....known each other how many days, first date...who talks like that??? And Vero is ALL IN as we say here in NE Ohio. Sorry, but instead of getting into all the mooning and romance, I found myself giggling. Kiss was better though. Hate to say it though, anyone else not seeing tons of chemistry with these two? Maybe it will get better.
So Em-old has laid the foundation for the next lord knows how many episodes, warning Martin he'll come after him if he hurts Vero. I can't wait to see these people hanging out in the jungle. (you know the whole--no phones, etc. I was thinking if Martin has all that money, maybe he could invest in some good satellite phones. Don't need those bothersome phone towers. Wonder how much of going somewhere that technology has been left behind is to just stay with the old TN plot line and make it more believable for viewers? We can't be yelling at the screen "just pull out your cell phone!" )
Botox queen indeed. I have a theory on how we can deal with Em-old as Salma's son. She has a painting that is fearfully aging tucked away in a secret room and she's lied to Jorge about HER age. Her secret will come out and we will watch her turn to dust for her comeuppance. Now, admit it, wouldn't the patio have fun with that? Too bad it won't happen. Ok, back to trying to thinking Em-old is a strapping early 30-something. beanie hurts.

So are we to believe that Vero is SO unique because she works, engages in sports, and is direct? Really, there are just so FEW women like her? Where have all these people been living? Martin has never met a woman like her? Ok.
Jorge is so funny trying to choose when Vero should date-- his son of course. I like that Vero just kind of rolled her eyes at the whole silly thing.
Martin hasn't really thought out how he's going to do this revenge thing. If he's supposed to be seducing Vero, he isn't really doing a great job. He's lucky that she already has the warmies for him and is willing to cut him some slack with his awkward comments, and holding swords to her throat with hate in his eyes. Most girls would be running for the door seeing that major red flag.
I have to comment on the fencing. I took fencing as my PE in college (many, many moons ago) and nobody would ever take off a mask. There's just too much chance of getting poked in the eye. And there's no looking the opponent in the eye; you have to focus like a laser beam on his weapon, while looking out of the sides of your eyes to keep aware of your position. And there's no circling around your opponent. You can only move up and back; you can't go outside the boundaries. And the outfits ... our fencing vests were almost as thick as potholders. And we women inserted two metal protective disks that we called Frisbees ... not so flattering. And the leaping ... well, maybe they've changed the rules.
Fencing is such a personal sport, more so than tennis singles. I can only imagine that boxing or wrestling would be more personal. I have to go back so far in my memory, but I can recall one young man with long red hair that I particularly enjoyed having as an opponent.
Virginia & Salma: The new version of Lucrecia & Cesar ! Even worse.
Botel knows he could've snatched up Malena's daughter when he snatched Malena up, but he chose not to. Interesting.
Manuel can go play in traffic for offering the little boy a cigarette.
"Martin is once again whining to poor Alfredo (who at this point should demand a raise for having to also serve as his therapist, besides running the construction for him)"
I loved the verbal sparring between Martin and Veronica but wished it was not so soon cause I have this little voice in my head keeps squeaking - stupid, stupid.
Manuel - pssst, pssst, little kid, want some crack
Magdalena - Al-Anon
Ana Perla - I need a knight in shinning armor come to my emotional rescue
Emiliano - facebook search
Virginia - wait, wait, lemme get a pen, "You put the lime in the coconut, you drink 'em both together"
Martin - It must be Looo..oins
Veronica - transparent as mud
Mariana - in them shorts your legs gonna get eat up with chiggers
But Martin needs to slow his roll: some girl who likes working, playing with swords and trying to tame rough horses is not going to be too prissy to go visit Demetrio in the jungle.
If Veronica is so beautiful & desirable, she'd be able to find a rich man of her social class instead of waiting on Demetrio to become rich. This is akin to believing Paris & Nicky Hilton would wait around for some middle class guy to strike it rich before marrying them, instead of just finding a rich dude from their social class to marry (well Nicky...Paris, not so much).
I also appreciate Aleta's insights on fencing since I don't know a lot about the sport. Based on what she added, that scene is even more goofy than I thought it was. And why would anybody go out alone with a man that held a sword at your throat and stared at you with half-crazed eyes.
So, it's hard to like Martin as a galán when you know he's got a dastardly plan up his sleeve. I'd almost prefer Veronica choose Emiliano.
Tofie: You're right about Veronica being independent. Haters gonna hate!
You'er right about the PI, he should have hired one. Hand writing analysis would have been a good place to start. His anger is blocking his vision, his clear thinking vision.
Virginia is a lying little pisshead. She owns Dr. Frenandez. ( I think thats the doc's name) I told yall that hefer ain't sick. Either that or shes cookin up some evil.
Quik question: Is vernica young enough to be malena's daughter, how long ago did she leave her daughter behind? The reason I'm asking is because of what salma said, her father was a drunk, but melena don't look like no ho to me.
I think there is a story there, but we gotta deal with martin and his drama.
Nina
Hmmm, as shallow as Salma is, strange that she hasn't given a though that sickly Virginia might be unable to produce an heir.
It's kind of realistic that Vero is missing all the signs of Manuel's rage, but then I can see how she'd be turned on by those penetrating looks and intense moves.
Vero is enamorada already sheesh girl slow your roll. She's vouching for his character but you met him yesterday chica. Virginia acts like she's 2 yrs old throwing herself on the bed to cry. Martin can barely hide his hate for Vero. If I were Vero I would start questioning why he's always bringing up Deme. And Vero never actually answered if she and Deme were a couple leading to Martin speculating, of course, that's the point of the show. Emil is getting scary.. Mom, I am scared uff.

I doubt seriously Malena is a ho. If Malena is Veronica's mother, it probably went down like this:
Malena was married to drunk husband & had Veronica. Malena & Drunk Husband were in Salma/Jorge's social circle. Perhaps Jorge had once taken a fancy to Malena (which Salma did not like) but she married Drunk Husband instead or Salma snagged Jorge first.
Drunk Husband was always drunk and abusive to Malena but charming to everyone else. Botel was also in the Malena/Drunk Husband/Jorge/Salma/Montserrat* social circle. Remember, Botel is/was a doctor.
Botel and Malena fall in love and Botel runs off with Malena, leaving Veronica behind. Because Malena was married to Drunk Husband and ran off with Botel the social circle labeled Malena a ho.
Drunk Husband goes out of his mind and disappears. Young Veronica has nowhere to go. Jorge (having always had a soft spot for Malena) adopts Veronica as a "niece" of the family.
Because Veronica reminds Salma so much of Malena back in the day, Salma hates Veronica.
*If Montserrat was part of the Malena/Drunk Husband/Jorge/Salma social circle back then, she might've gotten her mean girl on with Salma and labeled Malena a ho and Veronica, too (by extension) ......shades of Elisa Castagnon.
But, all we know for sure is this:
Veronica has no parents and is not blood related to the Prado Castelos.
Salma thinks Veronica's mom is a ho.
Malena is married to Drunk Husband and ran off with Botel, leaving her daughter behind.
Botel whined that he gave up everything to run off with Malena.
Botel could've also taken Malena's daughter but chose not to; Malena doesn't know this.
And I don't know if anyone mentioned this tidbit, but Veronica was telling Matilde that she saw Virginia and Demetrio arguing at the office but she didn't know what that was all about.
Didn't Martín only know about the letter from the bad woman because Padre Juan told him about it? Do we know what happened to it? I don't think that Martín has even seen it. He sure is relying inordinately on a lot of incomplete second and third hand information.
After watching the duel a second time last night, I'm not only questioning Verónica's judgment and taste in men, I downright question her sanity. I'm surprised that she hasn't already succumbed to Darwinian principles. I think that even if his opponent had been a man, Martín's disgraceful and unsportsmanlike behavior should have resulted in his expulsion and banishment from the fencing club. (Thanks Aleta for confirming what I had presumed about the sport though I had no idea about the Frisbees). As much as I don't like to admit it, I'm in complete agreement with Emiliano and Jorge in regard to Martín.
I'm wanting to see more of Nancy and her machete (maybe faced off against Martín and his sword though I fear that she may already be smitten with him).
Carlos
Sure he fantasies about killing her too, but she doesn't know that.
Martin, you snooze you loose. LOL Yes he lost that kiss didn't he last night?
So Vero is about to go on a jungle trip. Ok but---who's going to fill in for her at the family's business? Certainly it won't be Virginia, she doesn't work.

Carlos, so great to read your comments again! Love how you champion the underdog!
@Gringo: Carlos has had a soft spot for Gretel (Virginia) since Maria in LQLVMR. We used to trash her daily and Carlos defended her to the end!
I have only seen Ivan Sanchez as a bad guy but, however flawed his characters' logic, I think he's doing a remarkable job showing a man conflicted by seeking vengeance for his brother and falling madly in love with the object of his wrath.
Anon 207: excellent job guessing Magdelenas back story. You could write novellas!
Thanks again LatinainMD! You should join me and Vivi when we have our DC/MD/VA Caray fan dinners!
And speaking of being well-fed, thanks Katy and Vivi for the open invite to the DC/MD/VA fan dinners. I'm sure they are a blast. I'm not sure, though, if I'll still be around for when you schedule the next one. I'm planning to move back to California in mid-July.
I'm really excited that I'll be living closer to family again, but a little apprehensive about moving 3,000 miles. Things are going to be hectic for me the next 7 to 8 weeks, especially because I'm still working full-time through end of June and have not yet begun packing all my belongings. I will definitely continue my Wednesday recaps, but probably won't have the time to respond individually to your great comments. I do read them though, so keep them coming.
O marty marty marty, calm yourself before you reck yourself. We'll see how it goes tonight.
