We finally know that Escalante is in bed with the local drug cartels. This will be a very shocking revelation and Regina's desire to keep her distance from him has been a good instinctive move. She should have him investigated.
Jose will be better off on his own. It is inevitable that he will want a woman his own age eventually, so Natalia's making the right decision. It will spare her a lot of pain later on.
Alonso just hit a new low with coming on to Marcia.
Now for Teresa....
Her histrionics took place on the steps of a hospital. Nobody should have let her leave. Unless she is exposed she will be Regina's Amy Robsart. Since Ignacio wants to see his boss elected he needs to expose this poor excuse for a human being ASAP. If the doctor is truly keeping confidentiality Ignacio is the only one who can do this.
He and Gerardo should be asking themselves why Teresa didn't take to her bed and remain housebound if this was truly a high-risk pregnancy. No way in the world should she have been traipsing around the city, shopping and carrying bags, and wearing heels to formal events. And since when is he still her husband if they're divorced?
I have no hope for Ximena unless she ultimately turns her back on Teresa. Stupid little girl to do an about-face.
I am wondering about Mauro who was in full melt down mode. What will he do?
Urban, that is one of my few criticisms of this otherwise excellent novela: are Teresa and Gerardo divorced? If so, why is she living in his home and why does he allow her to continue to represent herself as his wife? He needs a lawyer.
I am done with Ximena and Emiliano. They just annoy me.
Regina was smart to get rid of the flash drive.
UA: Teresa asking Alonso to put a contract out on Gerardo.
Cynthia: I love your recap. Precise & detailed.
What I think happened is that the writers initially decided that Gerardo and Teresa were separated for a long time but not actually divorced (like my parents) but during week 2 or 3 decided that they were divorced because he began referring to her as his "ex-wife." I wish they had made that clearer by having Gerardo say "Our divorce was final X years ago; we are no longer married."
She is BSC either way and a liability to his life and Ximena's, even if he were a CPA instead of an honest politician.
That she is looking to have him murdered is all about "If I can't own him, nobody else can."
SpanProf: Thanks for bringing that up about the money laundering. YES I DID hear Escalante say something about that and forgot to mention it. *I was typing while I was watching* and could not get every sentence. But yes, this is about laundering the drug money and trying to keep the peace with the mafia drug cartels before the election.
I kept hearing too that Gerardo and Teresa are divorced. He has said it many times. The only thing I can think of is that in the eyes of the church, they are still considered married, while in the eyes of the government, they are divorced. So that is maybe why Teresa goes around saying that they are still married. I think Gerardo feels guilt over the divorce and is pressured by his daughter. All kids fantasize about their parents getting back together again.
Alonso is a dog who will sleep with any young gal who shakes her hips. He is so evil and immoral.
Mauro should have been smarter and figured out that he was on candid camera before he decided to steal the money. In this electronic age, cameras are everywhere.
Ximena is truly empty-headed for her about face on the issue of her parents' marriage. She started out crying to him to move in with him because Teresa was driving her insane and now shw wants Gerardo to come right back into the snake pit.
I am assuming that Gerardo and Teresa were married in the church. Somewhere along the line I thought she said in a previous show something like, "In the eyes of God, we are still married." From what I understand, most people who are Roman Catholic in Mexico have two weddings. One is civil by a justice of the peace and the other is in the church. Clergy in Mexico are not deputized to perform legal weddings, they are only for ceremonial purposes. My daughter and her husband went to a wedding of his cousin in Guarlalajara. The couple was already married and had a civil marriage, but they wanted a church wedding. So they had the big church wedding and reception. They already had a couple of kids together too.
What I know about Tere and Gerardo is that they are indeed divorced, they were living separately, until Gerardo's party thought it was better if they lived together for appearances. Which at that time I thought was ridiculous because they are divorced. The reason she continues "living" at Gerardo's is because she just does not get that he does not want her there. He has kicked her out countless times.
The whole kingpin spin came out of left field for me, it seems kind of late in the game to start this new story line right? Anyway we'll see where it goes, but it sure got a lot darker last night. As if prostitution, drugs, murder attempts, murders, back-stabbings, infidelity, abusive relationships, incest, back-room dealings, etc. etc. was not dark enough.
Urban, I do remember that Teresa was placed at Gerardo's place for her own safety after the whole thing with the oven. She should have been sent to the psychiatric ward instead.
But still rooting for Marcia! Magda demanded that she stay and take care of Omar, despite knowing what Omar was like, so that's what Marcia is doing. I just hope she doesn't end up having to sleep with Alonso or Mario. She needs to tell everyone to suck it and keep steeling Omar's money.
