La Reina del Sur2 - Lunes - Parte 1 de 2
The Russian soldiers/police/whatever that have been following Teresa and Oleg seem to have caught them. One guy holds a gun to Teresa's head and tells Oleg to put his gun down or he'll kill Teresa. Oleg agrees. Then Teresa makes some kind of move and breaks free. The next thing we know, a shot rings out and the Russian guy falls. Turns out that Willy's man who has been following Teresa arrives and shoots the Russian. He tells Teresa that Willy sent him to protect her and help her get out of the country alive. Teresa then talks to Willy on the phone. He tells her she can't go to Spain, she can't go to Italy (because the Italian police think she murdered Pedro), and Oleg can't leave Russia. Willy asks Teresa to let him help her. She thanks Willy and hangs up. Oleg tells Teresa that he has miscalculated. The people who came after them were government agents. "Staying in Moscow would be suicide. And if I run, they'll come after me. If they're going to kill me, I prefer they do it elsewhere. After we rescur your daughter." The guy Willy hired drives Teresa and Oleg back to Oleg's house.
In Mexico City, Epifanio and Alejandro are talking about the campaign when Genoveva ("Veva") Alcala, a very attractive journalist, arrives and kisses Epifanio. She's Alejandro's sister and Epifanio's novia! She stays just a few minutes and then leaves to go teach a journalism class. After she has left, Alejandro reminds Epifanio that he has to get his wife, Carmen, to agree to a divorce ASAP. Moreover, it would be very dangerous if Veva finds out that Epifanio is still married to Carmen.
The scene shifts to Carmen's house, where we see Carmen, her daughter, and her 20-year-old granddaughter, Jimena. Jimena hands her grandmother the phone and says it's grandpa calling. "I knew he'd call," says Carmen. "A presidential candidate needs a First Lady." We don't hear much of the conversation, but apparently she plans to meet him at a restaurant.
The scene shifts to Sofia remembering a conversation she had with Teresa about Teo. "Was dad a good dancer? Why don't you ever talk about him? Why are there no photos of him and me?" Teresa reminds Sofia that her father died before she was born. "How did he die?" Sofia asks. Teresa replies, "In an accident." The memory enables Sofia to now say to herself, "My mother didn't kill him. It was an accident."
Sofia goes downstairs and sees that the mural she has created is gone. She realizes that it must have been Morgana who did this.
At Oleg's house, Oleg prepares false passports and other travel documents for himself and Teresa. He tells Teresa that his wife is moving to another house in London to avoid surprises. He and Teresa will leave by train, since there will be less attention focused on the train station than on the airport.
In Malaga, Cayetana is at the wall tomb of Teo inside the Aljarafe family mausoleum. She says she's tired and can't do much more. But she promises Teo that she'll pursue the fight as long as she can.
Oleg and Teresa board the train. They seem to be the only people in the railroad car. He tells Teresa that it will be a long trip, and that they should not talk unless it's an emergency. Moreover, if a guard appears, Teresa should not speak either Spanish or English. A conductor comes by and punches their tickets. I don't have a good feeling about this trip.
After Veva's journalism class ends, a student tells her she admires Veva's willingness to investigate corrupt politicians. However, she wonders why Veva has focused on two candidates but has said nothing about Epifanio Vargas. Veva tells her she's sorry, but she has to leave because her program will soon be starting.
La Reina del Sur - Lunes - 2/2
Epifanio's wife, Carmen, comes to a rather elegant restaurant. She tells someone she takes to be a waiter that she's expecting another person and doesn't want to start without him. However, the person she thought was a waiter turns out to be Alejandro, whom Epifanio has sent. Alejandro makes it clear that Epifanio wants a divorce. He is prepared to compensate her fairly. She tells Alejandro that no money will compensate her, but the title First Lady will. Alejandro explains to her that if she suddenly appears by Epifanio's side after not being together with him for at least 15 years, that would be deadly for his presidential campaign. Also, the "vultures" in the press would investigate every unfortunate or disgusting aspect of their relationship, such as the fact that she became pregnant while still in high school and gave birth to a daughter while still unmarried. There's also the matter of Ramiro/Ratas. And the vultures will not look only at you and Epifanio but also at your daughters and granddaughters. Alejandro presents her with a contract that has been drawn up and urges her to sign it. She tells him she wants time to look it over. Alejandro pressures her to sign, asking ¿Quiere quedarse como el perro con las dos tortas? (He's asking whether she wants to be like the dog who sees two cakes he likes and can't choose between them, so he winds up with none.) She tells him that she'll deal only with Epifanio. Tell him to come himself and not send his lackey (achichincle). Alejandro takes back the document, puts a 500 peso bill on the table to cover the expensive tequila that Carmen ordered, and leaves.
Sofia seems ill. Batman feels her head and decides she has a dangerously high fever. Morgana tells him Sofia tried this trick before, including putting the thermometer near the lamp to warm it. Batman insists that if Sofia dies, Epifanio will kill Morgana, and so she'd better send for a doctor at once.
On the train, a guard comes by and says something to Teresa. She doesn't understand what he's saying, and she knows that Oleg said they shouldn't speak, so she makes up sign language. Oleg responds in his own made-up sign language. He tells the guard, "My sister is deaf and mute, and she feels humiliated by the way you've treated her." The guard claims this is just a routine check, and tells Oleg not to leave the train. Once the guard has left, Oleg tells Teresa they should be prepared for the worst.
In Malaga, Cayetana is confronted by her granddaughter Rocio, who asks whether Cayetana has frozen her granddaughters' credit cards. Cayetana proudly admits that she did, that if they want money, they should work for it. Rocio then tells her that she knows that part of the money Teo left for Paloma and her he stole from the Mexicana. Rocio also says she thinks that Cayetana knew what Teo was doing. Cayetana denies this. Rocio asks "Are you lying to me or to yourself?" Cayetana replies that if Rocio doubts her honesty, she should go to the police and report her. Cayetana then leaves. Rocio gets a call from Paloma telling her that Juan wants to force her to have sex again. Rocio tells her to hide, and she rushes off to help Paloma.
Oleg mentions that this is la hora gris (twilight?), and remembers Teresa saying that's when they would die. Teresa tells him thatif she dies, her daughter dies, so dying isn't an option. Her daughter has taught her that la hora gris is life. Teresa then looks out the window and sees a growing number of soldiers. She's sure they're here to get Oleg and her. The two of them flee, but they're immediately spotted by the soldiers, who give chase. After several minutes of the obligatory chase scene, she and Oleg rush into the woods, pursued by the soldiers. End of episode.
Thanks, Juanita, for the recap and an additional thanks for being so specific with all of the new character’s names.
A lot of interesting happenings in this one. I cannot wait for tonight.
So,
that snake Alejandro comes with a social climber sister? I wonder what Carmen’s price is. Here is hoping she doesn’t end up dead.
Rocío knows the real story with her father and his money.
Batman comes to Sofía’s rescue. He did act very fatherly.
will Oleg get out of this one and Russia alive? Not a spoiler but I wonder. Can Willy’s guy be far behind?
Wow! Such an excellent recap, Juanita. You got it all. Teresa's outfit, with that black hat made me think of wartime movies and spies. Loved Teresa's quick thinking with the sign language trick.
I was confused about the scene with Alejandro and Carmen. I thought she did sign something after the snake threatened her with being humiliated.
And, yes, Sofía is safe in Batman's care. It was awful to see her despair at losing the only bright thing in her imprisonment - the mural.
Rocío is amazing. Sometimes when they show her face she reminds me of Anne Hathaway. She doesn't let Cayetana get away with the saintly thing. How old are these girls anyway? Can the old witch withhold the money left them by their father?
Muchas gracias, Jarifa and novelera, for your excellent comments.
Jarifa, I loved your referring to Alejandro as a snake. That suits him so well. He plays hardball, he threatens, and then he sits back with a seemingly genial smile on his lying face. And I too worry about Oleg. My guess is that he'll make it to London and get killed there. I say that only because it would follow the real-life fate of several Russians in London. Mind you, I DON'T want to see this happen! Oleg has been so very important to Teresa, and Antonio Gil is doing a good job with the role. However, the "sizzle" (to use your wonderful word) that Alberto Jiménez brought to the role in Reina1 isn't there. Also, Oleg on the run from Mother Russia may be less powerful and so perhaps less critical to Teresa's well-being. All this, of course, is just a guess.
novelera, I'm pretty sure Carmen didn't sign the document. She almost did so twice, but first she said she wanted to have someone else look it over, and then she said she wanted to look it over at home when she was calmer. Alejandro wouldn't allow this. He told her she couldn't take it with her, it might get "lost." He told her she had one day to think about it. I think that's when she told him she would deal only with Epifanio, and in person, not via his lackey (achichincle, a word I didn't know but really like).
BTW, I hope someone will do a recap tonight.
thanks so much Juanita!
I was getting lost with the new faces and names, you sorted that out so well.
was that the granddaughter Jimena in Veva's class, it was like she was going to spill her connection to Epifanio but Veva rushed off.
good point novelera about our guys looking like black and white cold war spies, so strange there was no one else on the train.
so they are on the border of Ukraine, who has a dispute with Russia after they annexed Crimea.
Alex pretty much snuffed Carmen's hope of becoming first lady, I'm pretty sure she wanted some time with the divorce papers before she signed, but he took them away, I would take the money and run if I were her.
Jarifa: What are the ratings for this Telenovela ?
"REINA 2":
Juanita: Something tells me Carmen will NOT be among the living, just my hunch.
Juanita, Good call that the role of Oleg in this second part could be diminished in its importance to Teresa’s well being. Again, If it were Alberto Jiménez, I might feel differently but now I would just accept it as a logical result of the plot given the times and politics.
deb, glad to hear I wasn’t the only one wondering who was who.
I have a neighborhood association meeting tonight, but I'll put up some kind of recap, likely short.
Thanks deb. I always love your comments. I didn't pay much attention to the girl who spoke with Veva after the class ended. It would be quite interesting if she turned out to be Jimena! And I agree with you, if I were Carmen, I too would take the money and run.
novelera, you raise an interesting question about the ages of Cayetana's granddaughters. I had assumed 18 or 19, but now that I think about it, they may be more like 15 or 16. I say that because when we saw them last (in Reina1), they seemed quite young, perhaps 5, 6, or 7. Nine years have passed since then. But they seem older.
Gregorio Pernía (el Titi) leaked that Sin Senos will start in July, replacing Betty en NY.
Reina – Martes
We see Teresa and Oleg running for a very long time through the Russian woods. These Russian military guys must spend their time drinking vodka if they can’t catch these two. Teresa drops the money. Then…
Oleg! My man! He steals a hot air balloon. This is starting to look like that movie from the 80s: Planes, Trains & Automobiles. However that Russian guy leading the chase is more dogged than Flores.
Awful Juan the would-be toreador is searching for Paloma on a rooftop full of chicken coops. He manages to catch her, but Rocío shows up (Paloma had called her) and she bashes him over the head with a metal bar. Looks like he’s dead, but no. Eventually Rocío, I think, pushes him and he goes off the roof and dies.
The gypsies (gitanos) refer many times to los payos. The internet says this is what gypsies call non-gypsies. [I know, I know, I should be politically correct and call these people Roma, but I don’t like these particular ones very much.]
Lupo is in Málaga, and he is remembering meeting Teresa and Sofía. How beautiful Kate looks in this scene!
Batman calls Lupo to say Sofía is sick. Sofía wants to speak to Lupo and tells him someone said her mother killed her father. Ten points for Lupo; he denies this. Then he tells Morgana he’ll cut off her hands if she wipes out another of Sofía’s murals.
Rocío and Paloma get away. Juan’s mother sobs over his body. The gypsies vow revenge and don’t want the police involved.
It appears that Carmen may have been urged into her First Lady dreams by one Padre Anselmo, who coos over how much good she’ll do for the poor. Carmen’s granddaughter, Jimena, says the priest is un zopilote (vulture) who only comes around when he smells trouble.
Well the hot air balloon didn’t have much gas in it and it crashes. Our heroes are not hurt. They try to steal a really old car from a farmer, who pulls a shotgun on them. Teresa gives him a piece of jewelry for the car, and off they go.
Genoveva, alias Bebita, wants to announce her engagement to Epifanio during an appearance of his on her TV show.
Teresa falls back on her speedboat expertise from Reina 1 to get a boat fired up. She and Oleg cross the River Seim into Ukraine. They shout some vile insults at the Russians on the opposite shore.
Then they stay in some barn. Teresa calls Lupo who volunteers to send a plane for them Oleg is suspicious and wants to know everything about this Francesco. [Oleg, you’re so right.] He also tells her not to call on Willy.
Batman smiles indulgently watching Sofía recreate her mural.
Paloma and Rocío have apparently rented a hot-pillow room that one pays 20 minutes at a time. Not sure what money they have for this.
Lots more great stuff in this episode. Please add some. I was very short on time.
Thanks, novelera. Yes! “Teresa falls back in her old speedboat expertise.” Seeing her in the water driving that boat made me smile. “hot-pillow” is a new one for me. My English vocabulary just increased!
I kept hoping Willy’s guy would pop out from somewhere and help them but evidently he did really leave after Teresa told him to last episode.
What a scene when Teresa and Oleg came out of the forest to find the balloons! That was an original and visually beautiful getaway.
I loved Batman telling Morgana to get on her broom and fly away and also Lupo telling her what he would do to her if she mistreated Sofía as well as telling Sofía her mother didn’t kill her father.
Poor Carmen and her “First Lady” dreams! I didn’t like when nasty Alejandro asked Epifanio what her weaknesses were.
No surprise that the gypsies will take care of their own justice. Will Teresa end up aiding/rescuing Paloma and Rocío? Not a spoiler, just wondering . . .
I had no problem with Pablo being hit and pushed off the roof but what were Rocío and Paloma waiting for after he had fallen to his death? His family? Christmas???? LOL As a matter of fact, they could have been gone after they hit him in the head with the steel rod but instead they just stood there both times bemoaning the fact of what they had done and if he still were alive, etc. I don’t give these two much of a chance in this story if they were so traumatized/conscience stricken by Juan getting what he deserved.
Time to make some café. Have a good one, everyone.
Jarifa: You just took the words out of my mouth regarding Rocio & Paloma, I was like, "WTH are y'all waiting for ?"
Novelera: You've done it again with one juicy recap.
Thanks so much, novelera, for a short but pretty complete recap. I confess that this episode confused me, in particular the part concerning Juan. Is Juan from a gypsy family? I assumed that the woman with dark hair and eyes who was questioned by the police and then talked to the guy dressed in black (Drago?) was Juan's mother. Did she tell the police there were no witnesses because she didn't want the police to get involved, she preferred that the gypsies mete out their own justice? And who was that girl who was up on the roof and witnessed everything--presumably a gypsy, but was she related to Juan? What was she doing on the roof to start with?
Anyway, I'm glad creepy Juan is dead, but like Jarifa and Steve, I was puzzled that Rocio and Paloma didn't leave immediately. Also, I was annoyed that after all the mistreatment from Juan, idiot Paloma claims she loved him.
I was also a bit surprised that the Russian police didn't try to shoot down the (beautifully colored) balloon. I understand that they couldn't shoot once Oleg and Teresa were on Ukrainian soil, but the balloon seemed a reasonable target. Also, how did Oleg know the balloons were there? Did he see something on his phone?? (I also found it interesting that Teresa's boots had medium-high heels. She never learns!
Francesco really is an interestingly conflicted character. I loved his telling Sofia that her mother didn't kill her father (well, technically, it was Pote who shot him). And I also enjoyed his telling Morgana that he'd cut off her arm if she hurt Sofia and cut out her tongue if she said anything mean to her. OTOH, I'm glad that Oleg is suspicious of him. And if Oleg is suspicious of him, chances are good that the hacker Oleg hired will discover something.
Since Rocio and Paloma seem to be wimping out, I was especially pleased to see that Jimena picked up the rebellious and perceptive granddaughter banner. I'm still not sure what to make of her grandmother. On the one hand, Carmen too easily buys in to the priest's vision of her as First Lady; on the other hand, she's pretty firm with her daughter about "what happens in the house, stays in the house" and that Jimena's knowing so much is largely the fault of the daughter's telling her too much.
Loved your mentioning Planes, Trains, and Airplanes as a possible alternate title. And I'd never heard the phrase "hot-pillow room" before, but it's a good one!
thanks so much novelera! wonderful recap!
there are a lot of jumps and starts, love the european shots, curious how this will come together, everyone says Teresa can't go back to Spain, yet she is off to Málaga, Lupo, er Francesco, will have his jet at the local airport at noon, I guess Tesa only knows him as a businessman who saved her daughter.
yep, Oleg wants to know all about him, but then he was always that way about Tesa, checking out Pati and the gang, but especially wary of any possible boyfriends, as he brought down Teo.
so Oleg has lost everything but his smart phone and a few passports, so has Tesa, how will they manage to do anything?
Bebita seems to be the key to Epi's election, tv show, loved by millions, etc, Epi agreed to be interviewed by her but when she suggested announcing their engagement, oh he's now too busy, both he and Alex fear her learning that he is married.
cute that the florescent paint didn't wash off, happy to see Sofia back at it, and she has a cat friend.
I think sister Morgana hung up on Lupo, she's a mean one.
ah, wasn't the necklace Tesa gave to the farmer the one Sofia was wearing the day she was kidnapped, that belonged to her mother?
and I'm still confused about Epi's other family, I thought Carmen said she had 2 daughters, and that Epi went with the other woman because he wanted a son, Ratas, and who is Jimena's father?
I also thought I heard two daughters for Carmen with Epi. We haven't heard anything about who is Jimena's father. So far, I've only noticed one daughter living there, and Jimena the granddaughter. Jimena and Rocío are kindred spirits, both of them not prone to taking crap.
Epifanio had an affair with Carmen's sister, I believe. Carmen said something bitterly about this when she first appeared in the novela. At first Ratas was presumed to be his nephew (in Reina #1) but later on revealed to be his actual bio son. I don't remember Epi saying he had sex with his sister-in-law so as to have a son, just that they had an affair and Ratas was the result.
Something was familiar about that necklace, but I thought I had a vague memory of something from Reina 1. Don't see how it could be the one Sofi was wearing because they have't been in contact since the moment she was snatched.
novelera, the necklace seemed familiar to me, too, but I couldn’t place it. Teresa made the point of telling the farmer the necklace was real. I went back and watched the first episode of season one (it still gives me the chills) Anyway, she didn’t have the emerald necklace pre-Güero but had it soon after they met and before she met Epifanio. So, I am thinking it was a gift from el Güero.
in the first show (this season), they made a big deal of Sofia wearing the necklace for luck, then she lost it in the trunk of the kidnap car, where Tesa recovered it.
novelera, that was my take on Epi in season one too but Carmen's twist this show was he wanted a son she couldn't give him, he obviously doesn't care about his daughters.
I don't think the necklace that was in the trunk of the kidnap car is the same necklace she gave the farmer for the car. I remember the necklace in the trunk as being all metal, possibly white gold. The necklace she gave the farmer had a big round stone in it, some sort of precious jewel. It wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong, but when she gave the necklace to the farmer she said he could buy a new car and possibly a new house, IIRC.
That is exactly what she told the farmer. That is why I thought it was the emerald necklace.
Like novelera, I remember the necklace Sofia lost in the trunk of the car as being all metal. I may be missing something, but I think we are all now in agreement that the necklace Teresa gave the farmer included an emerald and was not the one Sofia lost and Teresa found in the trunk of the car in which the kidnapped Sofia had been put.
A few quick notes from last night.
In the barn in Ukraine, Teresa tells Oleg all about Francesco and how she trusts him. Oleg tells Teresa that “Francesco” seems too good to be true and calls a hacker to do some research on him. Teresa needs to get her team of trusted associates (like Conejo) back together again to do what she needs to do.
As we saw Batman remember burying his family members, what was he putting in the manila envelopes in their caskets?
Everyone is wondering what is KIRA. I am, too. Anyone know?
Sofía was very perceptive and gutsy to ask a very moody and dark Batman who will be the one to kill her in order to make her mother suffer like they made Batman suffer when they killed his children. It seems like she thinks it will be him. (He didn’t put my mind at peace when he said sometimes your are the hammer, sometimes the nail). On the other hand, Batman WILL find out who ordered the hit on his family and make them pay as all parents have the right to avenge the death of their children.
Still in the pensión, Rocío calls Teresa for help. She and Paloma have nobody else. She tells her she killed Paloma’s sexual attacker. Teresa tells her to sit tight. She will get there shortly. In a phone call, Cayetana tells the girls they are in their own.
The gypsies come with “torches, pikes and pitchforks” to Cayetana’s for justice the “Calé” way. Cayetana is good with firearms and holds them off. She even shoots one in the hand. She calls the police. Later, Inspector Flores comes to see Cayetana about the murder of Juan at her granddaughters’ hand. She tells him she has nothing for him since he couldn’t deliver Teresa for her.
Sofía includes Batman’s sons names on her mural which pleases him. She begs him to talk to her mother one more time before she ends up dead. Batman lets Sofía have a video chat with Teresa as a reward for her mural. As she talks to her mother, Sofía points out certain names and areas on her mural. Teresa watches carefully and writes them down. It looks like Teresa has a hidden message for Teresa. At the end of the call, Batman reveals himself to Teresa. They are taking good care of María. After the call, Sofía catches Batman in a lie. He knew that her mother was María. Morgana has been eavesdropping.
Teresa looks at her notes she copied off the mural. She looks worried. LUPO stands out in her notes and she remembers a romantic interlude with Francesco.
Francesco/Lupo gets a phone call from Alejandro about Teresa. He tells Alejandro that he has Teresa just where he wants her and will be bringing her to Spain.
Thanks VERY much, Jarifa, for this superb recap! You've captured everything important clearly and concisely.
I too have no idea what KIRA means or refers to, but Jonathan, who apparently came upon it in his Internet investigations, thinks it may be connected in some way with Manuela. He calls someone to find out more, but I don't think we know more at this point.
Probably dumb question: is there any possibility that Jonathan is the hacker that Oleg calls to find out more about Francesco? I ask only because the next scene after Oleg tells Teresa that he's asking someone to try to find out more is of Jonathan at the computer in Washington. I think that it's just because both he and the person Oleg called are looking for information on the computer, but I did find myself wondering if there was a closer connection between these two scenes, as improbable as that seems.
I loved the scene between Batman and Sofia. She's got terrific instincts! And it was reassuring to see the human, paternal side of Batman. However, the writers do a great job of avoiding sentimentality. When Batman takes back his phone after Sofia's video chat with Teresa, he thanks Sofia for giving him Teresa's secret number, saying perhaps he may want to use it later. Sofia is crushed at what she now realizes may have been a big mistake on her part.
Boy, Cayetana is a real [fill in some appropriate word]. When she talks to a distraught Rocio on the phone who is pleading for help, Cayetana tells her that Paloma ran off without her permission, Cayetana has no intention of going down with Rocio, and so bye bye, you're on your own.
I found the scene with Cayetana and the crowd of angry gypsies quite interesting. I was unfamiliar with the story Drago (?) told about the gypsy boy stealing the 4th nail that was intended for Jesus' heart at the crucifixion. According to Calé lore, the boy stole it to lessen Jesus' suffering, and for that Jesus gave the gypsies their own law, "justicia Calé." When I sought more information on the Internet, I was told that the law Jesus gave the gypsies gave them permission to steal (since the boy had stolen the 4th nail). However, the crowd at Cayetana's seems to think that "Justicia Calé" gives them their own set of laws, not just having to do with stealing. I'm not sure what to make of this.
wow, such a wonderful recap Jarifa!
yep, Oleg never sleeps and will have the scoop on Francesco in 2 hours from his hacker guy, Francesco tells Alex he'll have Teresa in his grasp in 2 hours, and the girls book the room till tomorrow with a gold necklace Teo gave Paloma, to await her.
Tesa's interest in getting the old gang together stems from if they hire anyone in Mexico, it will tip their plot to Zurdo. She mentions Sheila and Soraya, but isn't Soraya caring for Lalo.
yep the gypsies storm the castle à la Frankenstein, and I too was fascinated with the old man's story about God giving them their own justice, but Cayetana says no one is getting in, not even God, and they must have gotten their guns from a museum.
not sure how Flores got the scoop on Rocio killing the boy.
Sofia and Batman are cute, she pulling a fast one on him, but wait, was he on to her, and he gets Teresa's private phone number in the deal, but who needs a lurking sister Morgana.
say, does Teresa have 2 phones?
and Teresa doesn't know who Lupo is, the romantic scenes with Francesco seem to have started with her, but that couldn't have happened, and then appears to be a dream of Francesco.
Thanks SO much Jarifa for the fine, witty recap.
I agree with deb that Lupo was having a fantasy/dream about having sex with Teresa.
Sofía is an amazing child.
I smell trouble from Morgana. She had a very smug look when she caught Batman letting Sofía speak to her mother.
I don't really understand the emphasis on Lupo getting his hands on Teresa. She has already agreed to help Epi and they know she won't just let her daughter die.
Lots of thoughts, but no time to write them!
Juanita and novelera, glad I could help out.
Juanita, I have to say that no matter how much I dislike Cayetana I was impressed by her bravery in the face of the gypsy mob. I am thinking of Calé justice as mob rule just by a fancier name.
deb, yes, I watched the ending again and that dream does seem to be Francesco’s.
novelera, ITA about Morgana. She may be cruel but isn’t stupid by any means; more sly like a fox.
Alejandro Calva the actor playing Batman is doing such a fine job portraying Batman’s tortured soul on the verge of madness as it seems to me anyway.
I keep wondering about what Teresa copied off the mural and if there is something else written in code by Sofía.
If Teresa helps out Teo’s daughters she will have the gypsies after her, too! Oh, no! 😱
Jarifa, I mostly agree with what you've said about Calé justice, though to some degree I'm sympathetic to what the gypsies have had to put up with from people like Cayetana. (But yes, I also agree with you about Cayetana's showing impressive courage facing down the angry mob.)
After reading your most recent comment, I took a quick look at two parts of last night's episode. One was to see what else Teresa copied down as she looked at Sofia's drawing. Last night I was only able to read "Lupo," but today, I was able to see that she had also written down "Antonio" and "Miguel," Batman's sons' names. I wonder whether the inclusion of three names will make it harder for Teresa to figure out what's important. Also, my feeble brain can't remember whether Teresa knows that Francesco is also called "Lupo." I hope/suspect she does.
I also looked again at the dream sequence. It's really a bit confusing, since we move from seeing Teresa to seeing what is marked as a recuerda, making it seem as if it's what Teresa is remembering. But the rather sexy, come hither look on her face at the start of the recuerda creates some doubt, and of course the end of the sequence fades into Lupo's phone ringing as he's waking up from sleep. So now I'm convinced that deb and you are right, it's Lupo's dream sequence.
Excellent comments, all.
I have been doing some Friday recaps, but I am part of a group that meets once a month for dinner and catching up - always on Friday. And this is that Friday.
Thus, I'd prefer to do one tonight, again length depending on energy level. So far, though, Reina 2 is "must-see TV".
Juanita, thanks for checking what Teresa copied down. I only saw LUPO last night. I do not remember either whether Teresa knows Francesco as Lupo either. There are so many questions already and the number keeps growing episode to episode.
Watching carefully the scene on the roof, what happened was Juan had an accident while committing two counts of attempted murder after attempting to commit rape. He swung with the bat at the girls who were standing near the edge of the roof. They ducked, he lost his balance and fell over the edge. If any of them weren't as quick in ducking, he would have knocked her over the edge.
Cayetana was in her style letting her granddaughters fall and face the police and angry mob on their own. She said, "Good thing that my blood has not mixed with the blood of these gypsies." Is it a hint by the writers that Paloma maybe pregnant? I would like to see Teresa save them.
