El extraño retorno de Diana Salazar #4 ( Season 1 Finale) 2/9/25
Leonor is enjoying the waterfall and more in the arms of Eduardo. At the same time, Leonor’s father Gustavo has noticed she is not at the banquet. He is upset and tells Ofelia the servant that he needs his daughter to be present. He is about to toast to her and her fiancé the count. Ofelia quickly leaves to find her.
Gustavo addresses his guests. It is an honor for the De Santiago family to share this occasion with all of them. They are celebrating two events. First, they are celebrating the discovery of a new vein of silver in their mine which will provide even more work for the community. Secondly, and most important, they are celebrating the engagement of their "little princess" Leonor to Count Lucas de Treviño.
Gustavo talks to his wife on the side and asks her to explain what’s going on. Where is Leonor? Ana suggests that perhaps their daughter isn’t feeling well and is in her room. Gustavo doesn’t think so because he saw her getting ready. Ana then asks him if he hasn’t noticed that somebody else is also missing from the dinner. Gustavo looks around and asks if there could be something going on with Eduardo and Leonor? Ana answers with a proverb: There is none so blind as those who will not see." Gustavo is even more upset.
It is a new day and Leonor is shopping in the center of town at the market. She sees her father get out of his coach and go into the government building with some official looking papers in his hand. She approaches the building, wondering what is going on.
Gustavo enters the office of Governor Otalora who is under investigation for fraud by the Crown . He hands him the report that Eduardo is about to send to the Crown. Gustavo explains how it shows some irregularities on the governors part. Leonor listens in from outside the office. The governor asks if this is some sort of extortion on Gustavo’s part. Gustavo assures him that it is help from an ally. Gustavo will be returning the papers to Eduardo’s files so as to not raise suspicions and whatever happens to Eduardo before he sends these papers to the King is no longer his concern. The governor asks what Gustavo has to gain from all of this. Gustavo says that he has his personal reasons to want Eduardo out of his house and away from his family as soon as possible. Lorena looks worried.
In the present, Diana is awake at 6 AM.
Mario gets up and picks up a photo of himself and his late wife from the nightstand. After looking at it and thinking for a second, he puts it in the drawer of the nightstand. Next, he removes his wedding ring and puts it on top of the photo. He closes the drawer.
Mario is at the lab talking to Gael. He asks him how he ended up working for San Telmo. Gael explains that it was his first job as an intern when he finished up with his university studies and that later, Dr. San Telmo promoted him. Mario wonders why he didn’t allow Gail to lead his own research. Gael say he was about to start his own trial and then Mario showed up. His work was shoved aside. Mario had no idea that happened. Mario asked what his research is about. He says it is about photo light cells and jellyfish. It is very exciting. Mario offers to talk to San Telmo to see if he can get some funding for him. Gael thanks him.
Joaquín tells Diana that now would be the worst time for her to stop her therapy. He knows her better than anyone. He thinks that the most important thing here is her emotional health and her stability. Diana makes it clear that she is not blaming him for anything but she no longer feels comfortable sharing anything intimate with him. He cannot be her therapist and have a different kind of relationship with her at the same time. Joaquín admits that they crossed the line and now there is no going back. She sees no other choice but to stop her therapy with him. He suggests that they forget he is her therapist and to let him help her as a friend who happens to be worried about her. They are at a point of discovering something that neither of them ever imagined and for her to find the answers to questions she has had her whole llife.
Irene accompanied by Mario, has good news for her mother. Her tumor has shrunk. Irene tells Mario she has no idea of how to thank him. He agrees that the treatment is working but the trial isn’t over yet. Irene hugs him. Mario is uncomfortable and tentatively hugs her back.
Gonzalo keeps calling Malena. She finally answers. He wants to know when he can drop off the painting that she will be restoring. She says that he can drop it off at Gael's place whenever he wants because she is not staying with her sister anymore. She has moved in with Gael. They agree on a time.
Mario warns Irene against having inflated expectations because the road to a full recovery is a very long one. Her mother is also in a very delicate state. She reminds him that she’s still a doctor. She is so excited about what this means for her and her mother but also for science. Mario tell her to calm down. This is only the start. She wants to give him a Nobel prize. She makes it a point to tell him she only is interested in giving him her gratitude. She goes and hugs him again and he reluctantly hugs her back. As Irene is all smiles looking over Mario's shoulder, she makes eye contact with Diana coming down the hall..Diana smiles and asks what they are celebrating. Irene says they are celebrating the fact that Mario’s trial is working. Her mother‘s tumor is shrinking. They just got the latest CAT scan. Diana is very happy for her. Diana congratulate Mario. As Diana and Mario gaze into each other’s eyes, Irene breaks the spell and wishes her good luck on her presentation. It turns out that they are both giving their presentations today. Irene says that her presentation went well and that it’s gonna be a difficult decision for the committee. Diana agrees and she leaves.
Diana gives her presentation on birthing rooms with different kinds of designs because not all mothers have the same idea about how they want to give birth. It is a way to make them more competitive. Her boss thinks that sounds great, but how are they going to find physical space in their current building to implement such a plan? Diana is sure that with a minimum investment now they will have a healthy business model for the future. She has some projections that she assures they will find very interesting. As she bends down to pick up her papers, she is transported back to the torture chamber. Her boss asked if she is okay. Her scar/birthmark has turned blazing red on her chest. She gains her composure for a minute, but loses it again when she relives being branded with the cross on her chest. She assures them that she is fine but as she hands out her information booklets, it is apparent that she is not. Her boss comes to help her and she tells him that she needs a minute. She’ll be right back. As she leaves and walks down the hall, she notices that her hand is shaking. Mario sees her in the hallway and follow her.
Irene is named the new head of the department. She shows herself to be a good winner, saying that it was a stiff competition going against Diana, and that she hopes that they can be colleagues for a long time. She offers her hand to Diana and they shake.
Later on the phone with Mario, he says that he’s sorry that she didn’t get the position. Diana recognizes that it is her own fault because she’s been very distracted as of late. Irene was much better prepared than she. Mario thinks that she should take some time for herself. And he can help her with that. She asks what he has in mind. She wonders if a bottle of wine at her place might be good for starters. Maybe a pasta would be nice with that. They agree he will come over at 9 o’clock.
As Malena closely examines the face of the nun on the painting she is restoring, she sees something she is not expecting. It looks like the eyes of the nun are not on the same plane as the face of the nun. The glow in the eyes doesn’t match the painting on the face. Malena thinks there is another painting beneath the one she is seeing. Back in those times, they would paint over other paintings that they considered to be pagan. Super freaky! Gael wants a little sexual attention one more time, but is upstaged by the painting. Malena is dedicated to getting to work. He leaves.
That evening, Diana asks Mario what they are going to toast to. They are going to toast to it being six weeks, three days and 14 hours since they first met.. . he thinks. They laugh. They toast. She notices that he took off his wedding ring. He answers that he started to feel something very strong for another woman so it was time. He kisses her. She asks him about making dinner. He asks her if she would like to go straight to the dessert. She makes the point that dessert always goes last. She picks up the wine glasses and leads them into the kitchen.
Malena is videoing what she is seeing in the painting to its owner José. He asks her to bring the eyes of the painting closer to the camera. She says that it’s clear that there is another painting under this one and wants to know if he wants her to continue to restore the painting as it is or to find out what is under the image on top. He wants her to reveal what is ever under the second painting. The eyes have captivated him ever since he saw it. He wants to know who they belong to. Money is no issue. He likes mysteries and better likes solving them.
Mario and Diana are in the kitchen preparing dinner. She has fresh basil from the garden. They have a kissing interlude in the kitchen.
Back in time after hearing her father and Otalora at the governor's office, Lorena goes running to Eduardo, who i sworking in her family’s library, to let him know that he hst to get out of town as soon as possible. She tells him she heard her father talking to Otalora. He knows everything and wants him dead because of his investigation. Her father also wants to see him dead. He knows about them. Eduardo hears the horses and the jail wagon rolling along. He knows that they are coming for him. He warns her that nobody can know that she alerted him or heard the conversation. He also gives Lorena some his personal report on Otalora that will save his life and tells her to take it to a safe place known only unto her. Then she must go to the Royal Council of the Indies building and ask for Pablo Moreno. She is to tell him to take the papers to the king as soon as possible. He kisses her goodbye.
Ofelia tells the arresting captain of the Royal Guard that Eduardo is in the library where he is arrested in the name of the King. Gustavo, Ana and Leonor come out asking what is going on and why he Eduardo being arrested. The captain makes it clear that the Holy Inquisition will tell him what the charges are. Lorena expresses what an injustice this is and asks her father to intercede. He tells her there is nothing he can do. She looks at her parents and shakes her head.
The next morning, Diana and Mario are in her bed. She tells him that it has been years since she’s awakened to a man in her bed. He feels really fortunate. She says that nighttime is not her best time of day. She has strange dreams and has trouble sleeping. Mario says from now on, he is going do his best to make sure that she sleeps in dreams much better. She says that she definitely prefers this to therapy and hypnosis. It makes her feel so much better. Mario asks about the hypnosis. She explains that Joaquín wanted to try different kinds of therapies and thanks to him, she found her father. Mario laughs wondering what hypnosis would have to do with that. She explains that she used to think like Mario did but she had to get a different perspective by trying other kinds of therapies. Mario can only smirk. He says he does not want to sound like a conservative, but what is with her and this alternative medicine thing? She is telling him about it because she trusts it. He gives her an incredulous look. She knows she is a a doctor. She studied and trained. Suddenly, she’s not smiling anymore. Mario thinks that she needs a more serious kind of of therapies. She answers that Joaquin is a rigorous and solid therapist and he is also her friend. Mario informs her that there is no way that her therapist can be her friend because he needs to be analytical and objective. She reminds him that they have just started dating and she is starting to wonder if he is jealous. Mario says it has nothing to do with that. He thinks that any kind of professional seeing her would want to see her go to consult with a neurologist or a psychiatrist. She asks him why he is taking this personally. He explains that he does not see her situation with her therapist as being ethical. He could plant all sorts of false ideas in her head. Angrily, she insists that nobody is putting anything into her head via hypnotherapy. She admits it was her mistake. She never should have told him anything about it. She asks him how he thinks he knows what is better for her than she herself does. He thinks she is making things difficult. She disagrees. She ends the conversation and decides to take a shower. It is getting late.
Diana looks at herself in the mirrot and hears her father warning her about how he is sensing a person near her who isn’t good. He seems to know her and wants to help her . . . but it is all a part of his game . Her scar is red and inflamed. She puts cream on it.
Gael arrives at the lab. He calls out to Mario but he is not there. He starts looking at work on a white board. While looking for a marker, he runs into his project in Mario's desk drawer. He smiles as he takes it out and starts paging through all of the data. He then finds something that doesn’t please him ; Mario has made notes and criticisms in the margins.
Mario decides to go and confront Joaquín saying as a friend and a colleague of Diana, he cannot allow him to fill her head with such strange ideas. Joaquín answers that Mario address him with respect. He also says that he is not about to discuss any clinical information on one of his patients with him. He tells Mario he’s about to begin a session and shows him where the door is. Mario asks if he usually plays detective and goes on trips with his patients or is it only Diana. Joaquín informs him that Diana asked him to go with her. Joaquín smiles, but then says he doesn’t know why he’s even discussing this with him since he doesn’t have to. Mario thinks that sounds like a coward to him. Still smiling, Joaquín wants him to know that Diana trusts him beyond their therapist/patient bond and thinks that is probably what is bothering Mario. Diana doesn’t trust him the same way. Mario thinks that neither his therapy or his friendship is doing Diana any good. Joaquin says, maybe it’s Mario that’s really the one who is hurting her because before Mario arrived Diana was making really good progress. As soon as Mario arrived, her life became a mess. Joaquín thinks he is only there to help her just as Mario tried to help his wife. Mario tells him not to mention his wife. Joaquín can’t help himself and adds that Mario might be a doctor, but he couldn’t save his own wife. At that point, Mario punches Joaquín in the face, knocking him on the couch. Diana comes into the office. As Mario rages on about Joaquín, mentioning his wife, Diana calls out his name. Mario turns around and sees her leaving Joaquin blooded on the couch. She looks at him in shock.
Diana rushes to Joaquín on the the couch. Mario tries to explain that he only came to talk to Joaquín to protect her but Diana is in no mood to listen. She asks if he was taking advantage of something that she said to him to come and attack Joaquin? Mario says that’s not true. Joaquín prefers to think it just was a misunderstanding. Mario says there was no misunderstanding. He is taking advantage of a patient. Diana makes it clear that she doesn’t need Mario to protect her..She only needed to be able to trust him. That is no longer possible. Joaquín's secretary has called the police to remove Mario. Mario agrees to leave on his own. Diana goes about caring for Joaquín‘s injury.
As Diane ministers to Gonzalo, she is so ashamed of what happened. Joaquín assures her she is the least to blame. She never thought Mario would react that way. Joaquín again says that she didn’t do anything bad and adds thatshe is being brave; giving herself a chance. She was honest. He says that is what a real relationship is being all about. She agrees but is not happy with the result. Joaquin admits it was his fault not hers. She tells him that he is the only person that really understands everything that she’s going through. She wants to keep looking for answers. She doesn’t want to stop now. Joaquin says that’s perfect and tells her to try the university’s flotarium which is a special kind of tub that gives you the feeling that you’re floating inside the womb. It might help her with her visions. She’s ready for it. She doesn’t know if she’s really linked to anybody in the past, but she does want to know what they want.
Irene sees Mario arrive with a long face and presumes that he’s upset about his trials. He lets her know that it has nothing to do with work, but is something personal. He ends up telling her that what’s bothering him is Diana. He says that during her presentation she had one of her episodes. Irene was aware of that. Mario thinks that she should have more exams and studies done and Irene agrees. She is also very worried about her. She is one of their best doctors. She reminds Mario that right now, it is best for him to get focused because he is going to his press conference.. This is his moment. Irene can’t get the smile off her face.
Malena has come to see Diana at work. She hasn’t been living with Gail for even a week and she thinks it could have been a mistake. She has concluded that they’re both really very different kinds of people. Diana asked if she’s first realizing that now? Yes is the answer. Diana does not understand how that is any kind of surprise since it has always been that way. Diana says that he likes to control people. Malena makes it clear that she will not be controlled. Malena says Gael feels more like a habit but not love. Diana thinks that if her heart is telling her that Gael not the right one then maybe he is not. Malena needs to show her something and she takes out the necklace. Diane smiles and ask her if she took their father‘s comment that seriously About being a woman with two hearts. Melina says no. She did not buy the necklace. But what her father said is driving her crazy as she is trying to figure it out. She thinks now that maybe she should have talked to their father. Diana feels that their father understood Melina‘s reasons very well. He told her what he did because he loves her. Diana presumes she got the necklace from Gael. Malena makes it clear that she didn’t get it from him.
Mario arrives at the lab. Gael is working there. Gael takes his project that he found in Mario's desk and slams it down on the counter. Gael thought that Mario was going to help him find funds. Mario explains that San Telmo gave him the papers so that he could find extra funding. After reading Mario’s notes and criticisms in the margin, Gael is not pleased that Mario is clearly discrediting parts of his research. Mario explains it was just his personal thoughts and suggestions. Mario says it was never his intention to read those comments to Gael. Gael says that he found the notebook in Mario’s drawer by chance. Mario apologizes for the fact that Gael took it all out of context. Mario says that Gael's research is off to an excellent start but it needs to get to the need for the research that he is doing. Gael sarcastically asks if research that doesn't have anything to do with a cancer cure is still worthwhile. Mario insists he didn’t say that. Gael says he doesn't need any of his f****** help.
Diana arrives at work to find out that all of her patients have been cancelled by order of the new head of the department.
Diana goes to see Irene to see what is going on with her patients being cancelled. Irene tells her that as the head of the department she has to make sure that Diana is in good health before she returns to her responsibilities. Diana asks who told her that she wasn’t in good health. Irene says it was Mario who was so very worried about her. Diane gets a look of disgust on her face. Irene says she is also worried about her. All that Irene is asking her is tat she have a neurological and a psychiatric exam, a very simple protocol. Diana will not be seeing any patient until the results are presented. Diana remarks that Irene has not even had the job for 15 minutes and it’s going to her head already.
Diana undergoes her required tests.
A mystery woman is listening to Mario’s press conference. She tells her assistant to contact Gael Pérez.
Diana delivers her psychiatric evaluation to Irene. She suffers from generalized anxiety disorder. She reminds Irene that her neurological exam was clean. Irene says that the anxiety disorder is nothing to be taken lightly. Diana says she’s perfectly capable of taking care of her patients. Diana sarcastically says that she’s sorry that she couldn’t give Irene the results that she really hoped for. Irene notices that she that she’s using acetiminophen for inflammation. Irene orders her to take the rest of the week off since the inflammation is probably due to anxiety. Diane asks what that has to do with her capacity to treat her patients. Irene says not to worry there are other qualified doctors that can take care of everything. Irene adds that she will, also, be supervising her own mother. Diana is ready to go over her head to their boss but Irene says she has already spoken to him and he supports her decision. Irene asks her to go and rest.
As Diana is leaving, she gets a call from Mario. She asks him why he keeps calling her. After the Joaquín incident, she has nothing to talk to him about. Mario asks her to listen to him. He says he was only trying to do what he thought was best. She says maybe it was the best for him and his macho ego. Mario insists it is not like that. She says that she is at a point in her personal and professional life that she’s not about to waste any more time. She has nothing to talk to him about. She tells him to take care of himself and hangs up.
Irene is summoned to her mother‘s room. As she enters, one of the nurses says that they tried everything, but her mother has died. Her boss tells her that there’s nothing else to be done. He expresses his regrets. Irene cries said that she could not even say goodbye. The staff leaves Irene alone with her mother.
The mystery woman is the head of Heinrich labs. She tells her secretary to allow the man to enter her office. Gael enters. It turns out that the last time they saw each other was when Gael refused her offer and went to work for San Telmo instead. She asks how his research has gone at his lab. Gail says she probably knows that answer already. All of the money went to Mario’s research. She chuckles. She says if he had gone with her all of his research objectives would have become. She has asked him to come today because she has an offer that he might be interested in however if he ends up refusing her again, there will never be another opportunity afforded to him. She says that it is evident that Mario’s advances and research have been a success. She is so interested in his results in his research on cancer but particularly in the deceleration of the growth of certain cells. Gael asks if she is expecting him to give her information from Mario's trials. She says no nothing like that!! BUT she has always thought that Gael was a pretty smart guy, a smart doctor. He wants to know what he would get out of it. She would give him a generous compensation, of course, but also, Heinrich labs would make a huge investment in his own research.
Joaquin brings Diana to the floatarium. He thinks that this will help them to discover if her visions are some sort of portal to the past. She is all prepared. He assures her that he will be right there by her side. He starts to record her experience. She lies back and let herself float.
She goes through the usual visions of the past, and suddenly her eyes are golden, staring back at her.
Leonor is sitting on a bench looking like she has been crying. She remembers hearing what Eduardo told her about the documents. She hears her father and Otalora upset because they can’t find the documents against him that they need. Her father says that he knew exactly where they were but now they aren’t there. Her father thinks that Eduardo must have hid them. Otalora says that he has until tonight to find the documents and destroy them. Otherwise, he is going to have to make some other kind of determination to shut up Eduardo. That will be on her father’s conscience.
Still in the pool, Diana witnesses Leonor confronting her father asking him what he has done. She asks her parents how long have they known. Her mother says that the important thing is her integrity and her reputation. Leonor really doesn’t care. She wants is to be with Eduardo. Her father Gustavo makes it clear that she broke his heart. She says that he broke hers knowing that he was able to conspire against the man she is in love with. Her mother Ana says that she’s throwing her life away like a piece of garbage. Leonor declares that she’d rather lose her life a thousand times than betray Eduardo. Her reminds her that she is engaged to Don Lucas and she will be marrying him and whatever happened with Eduardo will be forgotten. He will not hear Eduardo‘s name again in his house.
Her parents are done talking and Leonor is lefta, one crying her heart out. She takes her wedding portrait and slams it to the ground. In doing so, the glass windows shatters in the room. Leonor is shocked and then notices her hand bleeding as blood falls on the portrait.
Diana, still in the pool sees Lorena going into the stable where she retrieves the papers that Eduardo gave to her. She takes the papers and puts them in a leather carrier which she attaches to her saddle. She rides to town. Later she runs into her father in town. He asks what she has done. She presumes that he followed her there .He says he knows that she has Eduardo‘s documents. She says that she had them, but she doesn’t have the any longer. He hopes that she didn’t send them to Spain. Her answer is that what they are doing to Eduardo is an injustice. She, also, knows that her father knows that. He says it would have been so easy for them to remain on the margin of politics if she had just maintained her modesty and dignity, Leonor insist that she loves Eduardo. Her father tells her to not confuse love with the sin of the flesh. It is evident that she doesn’t care about the honor of their family, but what hurts him more is what is about to happen to her when he tells her the truth. Eduardo was arrested for adultery. He is a married man in Spain, Leonor is more than shocked.
Eduardo is in one dungeon cell and is being transferred into another. He asks the men what he is being accused of and the men answer that it is not their place to tell him. He seems to think that it’s their job to make him disappear. They walk him out.
As a guard makes him walk, Eduardo tells him that no matter what happens to him, the King will know what Otalora is doing. The guard tells him it’s not his problem. The guard stops and is about to stab Eduardo but is stopped somehow by Leonor. Eduardo overcomes the guard and Leonor suddenly appears with her glowing golden eyes. Eduardo is beyond shocked.
Diana, still in the pool, sinks below the surface of the water and opens her eyes. As she runs out of breath, Joaquín brings her back to the surface and out of the pool.
Malena is working on the painting, trying to get to the original image. Using a UV light on various parts of the painting a particular part starts to glow an iridescent blue. She calls Gonzalo to come over and see what she has found.
Irene in tears goes to see Mario. He says that he just found out about her mother and hugs her. She’s sobbing. He tries to comfort her. She joins him on his couch as he tries to soothe her.
Diana is out of the pool and communicating with Joaquín. He tells her that he’s never going let anything bad happen to her. She looks at him and kisses him. He tells her to wait. She continues, kissing him and kisses her back. She decides to go beyond kissing and he joins in.
Gonzalo arrives to see the painting. Malena has discovered that the pigment that was a mystery to her is blood. Gonzalo wonders whose blood it is. He says that the portrait seems to have a life of its own. She is going to call Juan to let him know. He offers to leave while she talks to José. Malena does not understand since they are partners. He says it’s just better that way that from now on. it is probably the time for her to start doing more things on her own. She wonders why he says they really can’t go on pretending that what happened didn’t happen. It happened and it meant something to him. She thinks they can talk about that at another time but he disagrees. He confesses that he has fallen in love with her and he has been in love with her for years. He thought that she knew. He is really sorry that he is ruining everything. At this point he only wants her to go on with her life with her career and with her relationship with Gael. She insists that it just cannot end like this. He says it has to end like this. He doesn’t want to ruin her life. He wants her to be happy. He is right and she agrees with him. She thinks it’s time for him to be happy, too, and kisses him. He asks her if she is sure about what she is doing. She says yes, she is. She starts to undress him. They make love in her studio.
Back in the 17th century, Leonor and her family are waiting in the sitting room for a guest. The guest walks in and it is Count Lucas, who looks just like Joaquín. In the present, Diana remembers that moment. Her eyes turn golden as Joaquín makes love to her and the lights in the pool room sputter as they enjoy each other.
The final scene of season one: the golden eyes of Diana.
FIN
All in all a great ending for season one.
I, also, could not believe what an arrogant, closed-minded busybody Mario turned out to be. He and Irene deserve each other.
Here is hoping that Malena has FINALLY made up her mind once and for all.
So, Gael will be dealing in corporate espionage. I never saw that coming.
Do I believe Lorena's father that Eduardo had a wife back in Spain and he was being charged with adultery? it seems like the perfect father generated excuse to get his daughter to feel ashamed and acquire a case of Eduardo phobia.Looks like it didn't work.
It also looks like Diana and her golden eyes have a witchy kind of power.
Thanks so much for another fantastic recap of all the interesting events.
Irene doesn't miss a chance to put her hands all over Mario, does she.
It was cute when Diana said her culinary skills only went to pasta when Mario came up with the idea of bringing over some wine.
Well, I wonder how long it will take for Malena to get the Virgen painting off the portrait of Leonor. I'm pretty sure I remember her getting her portrait painted somehow in relation to the engagement. It's going to be a big shock to Malena to see her sister on the canvas.
Mario, Mario. He should have read the signs and shut it when he saw Diana's annoyance at his opinions about her therapy.
Irene hasn't hesitated to undermine her rival in love, has she? Classic "other woman" behavior. And she was SO disappointed there wasn't anything wrong with Diana after all those tests she insisted on.
Gael is about to sink himself. When, as I'm sure it will happen, he reveals the details of Mario's research so the Big Pharma Shark, or whatever she is, he'll be kicked to the curb.
I was confused about the flotation tank being open. I actually was in one of those decades ago, and it was closed. But then he wouldn't have seen her sink beneath the surface. But it was kind of creepy watching him watch her.
Thanks again, Jarifa. I'm hooked! And speaking as someone who's watched nightly telenovelas for years, it's kind of a pleasure watching only once a week.
Mario and Diana's relationship went south and with lightning speed! As you noted "I also, could not believe what an arrogant, closed-minded busybody Mario turned out to be. He and Irene deserve each other." Irene wasted no time vanquishing her rival (romantic and professional).
I was delighted Gonzalo and Malena got together!
Count Lucas was a shock! This was so well written.
I don't believe Eduardo had a wife in Spain, I think that was a lie.
Can't wait until season 2.
Jarifa, thank you for all of your efforts...
Diana
The governor was Memo in " Juana." More later . Susan
I had mixed feelings about them offering this series in the format that they did. I think that it would have been better run as single episodes 5 nights a week for a week and a half as the novelas are. 90 minutes is the time of a full length movie and can feel like too much . . . Sort of like dreaded double episodes. Sunday nights were also problematic for me and I’m sure for many others. I don’t expect to be watching something regularly on a Sunday night while during the week it’s just part of my schedule.
Taking all that into consideration, I hope they do show season two relatively soon because I would love to continue recapping this one.
The original novela from 1988 is on VIX. I have only watched a few minutes because even though it takes place between 1640 and the present with Lorena/Diana and her witchy powers, the plot is set up differently.
novelera, thanks. I was surprised that they didn’t close the top of the tank either. Those were called sensory deprivation tanks, weren’t they?. Wow! You are one brave woman to have tried one of those out yourself. Yes, I am sure Gael will have to pay the piper down the line. Nice seeing a bit of corporate espionage. I cannot wait either until Malena uncovers her sister’sface.
Diana, thanks. “Irene wasted no time in vanquishing her rival (romantic and professional)” You can say that again. I could not believe she made Diana stay home because she was taking Tylenol. Diana should look for another job of is this the only hospital in Mexico City? LOL loved the revelation of the Count!!!
Susan, thanks. This was a great first season.
Mario's concern about Joaquin as a therapist overreaching with Diana was understandable, but so dumb to confront Joaquin. But Joaquin retorting that Mario couldn't even save his own wife from cancer was beyond low. The good therapist may not be such a good guy after all.
Diana couldn't have worn more modest undies/bathing suit for the flotation tank? For someone who until recently hadn't gotten it on with a man in years Diana sure comes ready to undress to impress. ;>
Thinking about Eduardo's report on Otalora back in the 17th century when there was no copier, digital file, etc. His investigation could be obliterated forever with one flick of a match.
Great cliffhanger.
Yeah, Diana eefd a new job. Most every doctor is worked off their feet. Seeing patients for check-ups would be the best use of her skills at this time. If she has been pulled from delivery room service because of stress, inflammation, etc, it would have made more sense. Lot's if overnights in obstetrics.
I liked the Sunday night format personally. I hope they show the next season sooner than later.
