Did I miss something? When did Hasan find out that the book store lady was Karsu? And when did he find out that Karsu was Filiz’s daughter? I feel pretty sure I saw a scene in un avance where he put two and two together, but I don’t remember seeing it during an actual episode. Did I snooze out?
I wonder if they will actually find that Irmak signed something. I vaguely remember Adnan having her sign here quite a while back. Poor Irmak having lost her baby. Everyone said all the right things.
And Reha getting the kids to plot to get Karsu back, then telling them they’re very intelligent, which they got from where? Him, of course!
I enjoyed the two brothers talking in Mert’s place, and Dilaver actually having a compassionate talk with Hasan. For once he didn’t seem so scared.
I wonder what will happen with Omar being in the restaurant. Why did the writers place him there?
Didn’t you love Filiz telling Hasan what to serve at his restaurant? He actually was pretty nice about it.
Apologies for any errors or typos. No time to proof read
Sergio Makes His Move
Fabián and Gabriel discover that Sergio's company Alfa Sur has a huge boat at the dock and that another pair of boats are following close behind. Gabriel explains that in industrial fishing, they take more than they need and will leave them with the leftovers. The beaches and towns will be left in ruins. How to stop Sergio before it is too late.
Back at the union office, a small group of fishermen are discussing among themselves with Porfirio. He asks why Fabián is so upset. Fabián accuses him of selling them out. Porfirio asks how??? Fabián tells him about Fabián's new fishing business. It will destroy their town, beaches and their way of life. Porfirio thinks Fabián needs to see it as a glass half full kind of situation. Sergio is going to need to hire people for his boats. Fabián insists there won't be enough jobs for everyone because the ships are automated. Porfirio informs Fabián that Sergio only needs a couple of permits and his project is a reality. Porfirio is quickly on the phone to Sergio to let him know that Fab just found out about the fishing business.
Fabián goes straight to see Estrella. She doesn't want to see him but listens to what he has found out about Sergio's new business in town that will wipe them all out. She is speechless. He explains that Sergio tried to buy the fishermen with that bonus knowing how it was going to adversely affect them. He tells her about the boat. Estrella has to admit that he was right about Fabián all along about Sergio. She had even thought that he had changed. Fabián wants to assemble everyone in town and tell them what is happening. She asks him to give her a chance to talk to Sergio. The more information they have, the less the chance of a surprise.
Estrella talks to Sergio and asks how he could do this to her. He has no idea what she is talking about. Not liking that response, she makes it clear she is talking about his industrial fishing project that he is launching in their area. He claims that they have lied to her. He can explain everything. She accuses him of lying and giving people bonuses to avoid problems. He insists that he has done this to get closer to her and Azul. Why does she distrust him? She concludes he is ruled by his ambition. She thought he had changed but she "won't be fooled again" because people like him don't change. He explains that this is a business issue and has nothing to do with them. He had to honor confidentiality agreements with financiers so he couldn't talk about his plans. He reminds her that Azul contacted him. His wanting to be closer to them. His love for them is behind it all. As for his project, he sees it as an opportunity for the town. She wonders how that could be in a town built on traditional fishing.
He insists it will benefit everyone and asks her to "formally" join his project. (earlier in the episode, he offers her a job which she turns down liking her independence) She "formally" refuses. He says the project is going forward with or without her support. She tells him it isn't going to be that easy.
Fabián has his meeting at Erika's (the mole's) restaurant. He lets the fishermen and the townspeople know what is going on with Sergio's new business. They are going to be left with the leftovers. Their fishing will become more dangerous as they have to go farther and farther out to sea to find fish.. They will use more fuel. Fishing and life as they know it will become unsustainable until they disappear. What to do? Everyone agrees that they have to fight to defend their homes, businesses and town.
Well, not everyone. Brisa doesn't understand why Estrella is so upset. She thinks this is GREAT! Azul is a FALCON Contreras. So why should they be worried?
Yazmín: No Way Out
Oliver cannot believe that of all of the clinics available in Nayarit, that Javier would end up at this one for his assignment, Javier says that being a doctor knows no borders. Oliver concludes he is there to be close to Yazmín. Javier is certain that Yazmín will decide who suits her best.
Erika complains to Erika that knowing that Javier was threatening her, she went ahead and rented him a room anyway. She is reminded that Erika is running a business. Erik thinks it could be good so she can convince Javier not to post the videos. How? She cannot break up with Oliver. She tried but she loves him. Erika says she will lose him anyway when he finds out what she did to get her pills. Then her father and grandfather could find out. Yazmín admits that her grandfather is still angry about the dance club incident. Erika has says she has TWO choices: Do what Javier wants or deal with Oliver and her family when the truth comes out. Yazmín said that Erika needs to help her out or Fabián will find out that she gave her pills.
Oliver tells Nemesio about Javier coming to stay in town. Nemesio suggests that he beat him up as a warning. Oliver decides that he will watch the situation but at the first sign of Javier being flirtatious with Yazmín, he will confront him.
Gonzalo offers to remove Javier from town if that is what Yazmín wants. She doesn't want him to because knowing Javier that would cause just more problems. She asks him not to talk to Javier even if he sees them together. He promises.
So, Gonzalo goes to pay Javier a visit at the inn instead. Javier is sarcastic from the get go. He tells Gonzalo that if he needs his blood pressure checked he should see him at the clinic. Gonzalo says he isn't playing Mr. Nice Guy because he knows that Javier is after Yazmín. He hurt her once and he will not allow him to do it again. Javier thinks he is in a state of mental confusion so maybe he should get his blood sugar tested. He can see Yazmín and there is nothing that Gonzalo can do about it. Gonzalo thinks that remains to be seen and grabs him by the collar. Javier tells him to let him go or he could end up in the emergency room. He hits Gonzalo below the belt which gives him the chance to run away. Gonzalo catches up to Javier in the lobby. Oliver breaks them up. Gonzalo says this will only end when Javier stops pursuing Yazmín. Javier admits that the only reason he is there is to win back the girl he loves. Nobody will get in his way.
Yazmín is having a tough time. She has no pills left when Javier arrives with a new supply. She refuses them. He is all over her wanting to see the fun girl she has hidden inside. He forcibly kisses her. He mentions that her grandfather came to see him. He tells her to make sure he he doesn't do that again. Finding out what his adored granddaughter is really into would kill him.
Iker
Marina tells Gabriel that she called Adriana earlier so Iker could thank her. It was a strange call. She has never had a good feeing about Adriana.
At Adriana's, Nicolás mentions that there was something familiar about that woman Marina's voice on the phone. He asks why Adriana never told him about that case. She says it was not important. It was a case about a child's adoption. He changes the topic to going away for the weekend which she changes to moving to Spain. It would put an end to all of the bad memories they have and move on with their lives. After ten years, he is not convinced. She tells him to think about it anyway.
Ike asks Gabriel what he thinks his biological parents were like. Gabriel thinks they must have been good people because he has turned out to be sensitive, good-hearted, noble with a great imagination. He asks Gabriel if he thinks that his parents died in the hurricane. Gabriel thinks so. He reminds Iker that they tried to leave him as safe as they could. Iker thanks him for taking care of him and loving him as if he were his own son. Gabriel says he is his son and hugs him.
Perla's Success
Perla and Valentín go to see Dolores. She is grateful they came to see a solitary dying woman. They say they have arranged a doctor's visit to see if he can help her. She refuses to go with them. Her passage to heaven has already been paid. Perla doubts that and show her the video. Dolores calls them out for spying on her. Perla asks her how she could invent an illness to manipulate them with. She insists she didn't make anything up. She is only a poor woman trying to enjoy her last days. Valentín asks her to tell him the truth with God as her witness. She finally admits she is not sick and is not at death's door. Perla says she is sick in the head. Valentín cannot believe that she lied to him her adopted son!. Dolores admits she lied but what he is doing to Pascual, his best friend, by taking his novia is worse and unforgiveable. Perla cannot believe she is blaming Valentín. Dolores places the blame on Perla. It seems that they all think they are all going to burn in hell. Perla leaves. Valentín folows her. Dolores is left to scream all alone.
Perla tells Valentín the lie is over and now they finally can be together. Valentín says that Dolores was right. He betrayed his best friend and feels like a pig. Perla asks him not to say that. You cannot choose who you fall in love with. She reminds him of everything he did to protect Pascual. He even went back to Matilda. He has been a great friend, the best friend ever. Valentín is afraid to tell Pascual the truth. Perla offers to go with him. They will face up to the truth as they should have done from the start. They go to kiss and he gets a call from Fabián about his meeting. Valentín spreads the word.
Pascual has received news about the meeting. He tells his mother that it is the apocalypse of fishing in their town. He feels so bad for everyone especially his Perlita. She had been through so much lately. Dolores asks him if he has spoken to her and Valentín. He answers no and asks why? She says there is no reason . . . They must be so worried since fishing is their only way to make a living. Pascual only wants to wake up from this nightmare. He has a real bad feeling . . . The day is going from bad to worse! Dolores tries to comfort her son.
Maggie, I was surprised also that Hasan knew that Filiz was Karsu's mother. I imagine Dilaver filled him in somewhere along the line. Omer wants more money. I imagine a kebab place would earn him better tips than a coffee shop. Maybe he has started putting 2 and 2 together and realizes the mob is involved and he wants in.
I still wonder why Atilla doesn't get an annulment.
You are right, they all told Irmak the right things. Now she won't be tied to that dirty ol man who is a serial cheater, by a child. Merk is available. Maybe those 2 will end up together. I love his chunk of a cat.
Thanks once again, Jarifa, I always enjoy your detailed notes! I am really enjoying this show, just enough bad guys to make life more complicated for the good guys.
I was a little surprised that Estrella had been thinking Sergio had changed. I hope he can’t convince her that he has! Meanwhile crazy Brisa is the only one pleased that Azul now has his name.
Javier is really awful. I can’t believe he pinches Gonzalo like he did. As I said, Yazmín needs to move home to be safe. Javier won’t be able to get past dad and grandpa. And Oliver will start looking good to Fabián.
I wonder what will happen with Nicholas, Marina and Adriana. I can’t wait for that to come out. And Sergio will soon be after Gabriel.
I’m not sure Valentín is completely on board with Perla about them telling Pascual the truth. Of course Dolores had to lay a guilt trip on him.
Liz
Another good episode. I also enjoyed the brothers chatting. Mert is the younger brother, Irmak is the older sister. I’m not sure of their ages but after an older man a younger one might be better! Although the turkish novelas don’t always pair people up at the end. I noticed last night that there’s no religión either, so different from Spanish novelas!
I’m not sure but I think when Dilaver was telling Hasan about Atila opening a café he mentioned Karsu had a book store. I was surprised he was so rude to Karsu. He really dislikes the fact that she’s divorced with three kids.
Reha was his usual obnoxious self. Sends Hande out of the room and plots with the kids to win the family back. Tilsin knows about Hande so I’m surprised she’s so willing to help him. She even believed him when he said they were just friends.
I always liked Adnan, except for the fact he ran off with his stepdaughter. But bringing a young woman to the bed you shared with your wife was pretty low. Dirty Old man was a good description, Kat.
It was sad that Irmak lost the baby. Even Reha was able to show sympathy! She was so excited to be pregnant after such a long time.
Liz
Jarifa, thank you for your extraordinarily well written and descriptive recap. Although I understood some of what was transpiring with Sergio, I would never have understood the imminent danger and far reaching implications of what he'd done had you not spelled it out. "It will destroy their town, beaches and their way of life" is a frightening thought.
Loved "Erika's (the mole's)... :)
"Erika has says she has TWO choices: Do what Javier wants or deal with Oliver and her family when the truth comes out. Yazmín said that Erika needs to help her out or Fabián will find out that she gave her pills". Atta girl! Erika plays dirty and Yaz needs to fight fire with fire. I loathe that Javier was able to scornfully escape Gonzalo's wrath and that he remains as the pestilence he is.
"At Adriana's, Nicolás mentions that there was something familiar about that woman Marina's voice on the phone". Then Gabriel telling Iker his parents were likely good people and mistakenly thinking they are dead. Somber and sobering. And so it begins...
"Pascual only wants to wake up from this nightmare. He has a real bad feeling . . . The day is going from bad to worse!" And yet, the day is still dawning.
Jarifa, this was wonderful. Thank you.
Diana
Liz, You are so right with " . . . just enough bad guys to make life more complicated for the good guys.." And the bad guys are rather tame compared to what we are seeing in other novelas which is okay by me. Also, you are right with "As I said, Yazmín needs to move home to be safe." She needs to bite the bullet with the videos, let her father and grandfather know as well as Oliver what is going on and let the chips fall where they may but that is a big task for a 17 year old.
Thanks, Diana. ""At Adriana's, Nicolás mentions that there was something familiar about that woman Marina's voice on the phone". Then Gabriel telling Iker his parents were likely good people and mistakenly thinking they are dead. Somber and sobering. And so it begins..." That scene was so poignant since we know what is on the horizon. I wish I cared that much about Pascual but I find him interminably annoying. ""Pascual only wants to wake up from this nightmare. He has a real bad feeling . . . The day is going from bad to worse! And yet, the day is still dawning." I so hope that he finds out what's what tonight and maybe we will not have to see so much of him. I like the actor Lalo Palacios just not the character. Thanks for the VIX info!
I also enjoyed the interaction between Mert and Atilla. Mert is very cheerful and doesn’t seem to carry a grudge. He would be fun for Irmak.
I don’t know why Hasan hates the fact that Karsu is divorced with three kids. It might, come to think of it, be because of Mert. Hasan made a comment about Karsu earlier that no real man should raise another man’s children. He might still be hurting from the discovery that Mert wasn’t his.
He’s going to have to work out a relationship with Karsu if he wants something permanent with Filiz. We shall see how that develops. I imagine he will like the kids, well, maybe not Tilsim just yet!

Estrella and Fabián Unite to Fight Sergio
Fabián has brought the town's people and fishermen together after telling them about Sergio's plan that will threaten their very existence. Sergio crashes the meeting telling them that he is there to make their lives better. He will be offering a lot of jobs first to the people who are fishermen in the town. He will not be able to offer jobs to everyone but it will be close. They can see him next week to apply for those jobs.
Sergio gives Estrella a folder with a concrete job offer for her. Brisa sees it at home and that Estrella could be making big bucks and take care of them all. Estrella asks what about the rest of the town. (Estrella seems to think that if she accepts the job, she will be telling the people in town that she trusts Sergio.) Brisa says it will be up to her if they have a better life or end up like the rest of the town.
Later that a day, Estrella tells Sergio that she will not be joining his company and tells Fabián she is going to join him in the fight against Sergio. He tells her that Sergio is still waiting for a couple of permits so they have a chance to shut him down before he really gets his fishing going. They agree to do a massive protest march outside of the Alpha Sur offices to start with.
The Crime is Always in the Cover-up
Valentín and Perla find out that Dolores has already told Pascual the truth about them being in love when they show up at Pascual's house talk to him. Dolores tries to talk for her son calling Valentín a Judas Iscariot! Pascual cannot take it when she says that Valentín allowed him to be seduced by that snake and sinner Perla. He finally tells his mother to shut up but then apologizes.
After she is gone, Pascual tells them that he could accept their situation when considering Perla because she was always HONEST about being in love with another. What he cannot do is tolerate Valentín who lied to him and kept how he felt a secret from him for all that time. He was his best friend and his brother but now Valentín is dead to him! Valentín is SHOCKED
Marina Gets Closer to her Past
When Adriana comes to the house to drop off some documents, Marina thinks she has seen her before and notices something familiar in the unique way that she grabs and shakes her hand and then releases it. She tells Adriana she is sure they know each other from somewhere. Adriana doesn't thinks so and leaves ASAP. Marina tells Gabriel she gets the same feeling with Adriana that she had seen her before as she had when she found the house on the beach. She, Gabriel and Iker try to find info about Adriana online. She has no social media, odd for an attorney. They do a search on her name and find a newspaper article about her from 13 years ago. They look at the article and there is a photo of her Adriana and Marina together.
Yaz in the Pressure Cooker
Javier terrorizes Jazmín telling her she has one more day to break up with Oliver. She is reduced to tears. He finally leaves after having manhandled her.
She meets with her grandfather and tells him one more time to stay away from Javier and that she can handle him just fine. She makes him promise he will leave him alone. He makes her promise if she is in trouble with Javier, she will call him.
When she gets back to her room, she looks at the pills that Javier brought her. She is tempted but manages to throw them out Just seconds later, she is digging them out ot the garbage. She removes one pill and stares at it.
Everything else
Nico shows up in Nayarit to be with his wife Adriana who has to stay there for another two weeks to support Sergio's business establishment. She is surprised to see him. He reminds her that he doesn't like her flying in a helicopter every day. It is too dangerous so he took some time off from work to be with her. She finally talks him to moving to Spain.
Brisa pays Gabriel a visit ONE MORE TIME reminding him that she is the "sister-in-law"of Sergio and could put in a good word for him to get a job with the new company. He tells her that he is not interested. She next reminds him how she helped him see Iker before the hearing where he could diffuse his son's anger. If not for her, the judge could have ruled differently. Gabriel thanks her again. She isn't interested in "thanks" so he has to tell her ONE MORE TIME that what they had is OVER and that he is with Marina now. He loves her and they are planning on being a family.
Jarifa, reading your marvelous recap was pure pleasure. You enlightened me by expertly outlining so much I hadn't understood (especially the Pascual/Valentin conversation) - thank you so much.
I was fully expecting it would take Marina physically running into Nicolas to jump start her memory. I was pleasantly surprised that the technological marvel the internet has hastened this process along! Now Marina will put the first puzzle piece together with more to follow.
"After she is gone, Pascual tells them that he could accept their situation when considering Perla because she was always HONEST about being in love with another. What he cannot do is tolerate Valentín who lied to him..." Pascul's rationale actually makes total sense. I just wish it hadn't taken so much ugly crying and lip quivering for everything to come out in the open. Valentin may have gotten the girl but has now lost his best friend as well as his figurehead mother (no loss there I mumble).
"Yaz in the Pressure Cooker" is exactly right! Javier is acting irrationally and appears to be losing his grip on reality; his abusive behavior is escalating at a frightening speed. I just want someone/anyone to pummel him into the ground.
Hopefully Sergio and Estrella will come up with a concrete plan to thwart Sergio.
I wish I'd counted how many times Gabriel has told Brisa "it's over". Is she ever going to get it through that thick head of hers?? Her noting she is Sergio's sister-in-law was sickening.
Jarifa, thank you for all your fine work and effort. I'm so enjoying this as it's so well paced and hard to predict exactly what will transpire next. :)
Diana
Oh sure now the whole family on Karsu's side is appalled that Atilla and his family are Mafia or former Mafia or whatever. Well after what Adnan pulled on his wife, it might be handy to send a few boys shake Adnan up a little. Also the bad horsey bit Reha.
Ps. I still love Atila
Wow, I was on the edge of my seat! Great episode! Quite a scene in the restaurant when Filiz finds out the truth. Several truths, in fact. That was the scene I’d seen in the avances, but I thought it was a scene where Hasan found out Filiz was Karsu’s mom. Instead it’s where Filiz finds out who everybody is. I loved the scene after where Mert told Atila yeah, he (Atila) is okay when everything is quiet, but he has to watch his temper. That power is addicting. So we have the question: Can violent mafiosi change and live peaceful lives?
Filiz isn’t going to wait around to find out.
Great photography in the prison visit scene, where one person was a ghostly reflection in the glass. Boy, we see Adnan sure gets ugly when he’s mad. The fury, the revenge. Blaming Irmak for losing the baby. Who knew he could be so awful?
Speaking of awful, Lale’s revenge plan seems contrived to me. The person she should take revenge on is Atila, not Karsu, who was an innocent bystander in that marriage scheme. It seems like one of those “I’ll wreck your relationship” tropes.
I liked Dilaver breaking it to Hasan that being a restaurant owner isn’t going to get him the respect being a mafioso did. These mafioso guys have a lot of adjusting to do if they’re going to fit in the regular world. Can they? Hasan tried flowers, but that sure didn’t work.
Thanks Jarifa, I enjoyed the review of last night. Brisa was so annoying. She doesn’t get that no means no! I’m not sure what Gabriel is going to have to do for Sergio but I’m guessing it will be against Fabián and the other Fishermen. Maybe Brisa will back off from him then.
I’m really relieved that Estrella didn’t take Sergio’s deal. We know he’s just using her. But I wonder if Brisa will be working with him.
I guess it won’t be long before Nico runs into Marina. He’s much more appealing to me than Gabriel is. And Íker is probably their son. I wonder if that will bring on a DNA test.
Wow, I don’t know if it was make up, clothes, or what but Dolores sure turned into the wicked witch of the west. She made it harder on the three friends. I don’t know how they’ll get past that. All I can be sure of is that Perla had a lucky escape from having that for a mother-in-law.
Liz
I was surprised at how harsh Karsu was with Hasan, which in turn hurt her mother. I hope Filiz can get past this. She was so happy with their friendship.
Adnan really turned into a vindictive person. I don’t know how Irmak will get a lot of money. The lawyer is her husband’s lawyer so I don’t think he’ll be any help to her.
Lale and Reha are definetly siblings. They share the same genes, and both feel they are victims even though their actions got them where they are.
Liz
I guess horses and dogs can tell when a person deserves a bite. Tilsim could post well at the trot on the horseback riding excursion. If it wasn't a stunt double I would say she has quite a few lessons under her belt. She should do that rather than dance. Her ballet friends are all snobs. If course she should have been honest and not tried keeping up with the Jones when they discussed their summer vacation. Deniz just had his class at the bookstore and the ballet girls are on summer break? Some writer needs to keep things real in Turkey!
Omer meets a cute flower shop worker/co-owner. She was definitely interested in him.
Poor Irmak, she signed those papers ten years ago when Adnan told her they were about life insurance or something. Her bad for not reading them, but she was really young then. Adnan certainly has turned into my least favorite character now.
Diana and Liz, thanks. This is such a fun one to recap.
Diana, "Pascul's rationale actually makes total sense. I just wish it hadn't taken so much ugly crying and lip quivering for everything to come out in the open." That was some ugly cry wasn't it? Now they have to get rid of Valentín's guilt. His pained looks are just as bad as Pascual's blubbering.
"I wish I'd counted how many times Gabriel has told Brisa "it's over". Is she ever going to get it through that thick head of hers?? Her noting she is Sergio's sister-in-law was sickening." I do not know how he still manages be civil to her. I cannot help but anticipate her anvil.
Liz, also talking about Brisa "I’m really relieved that Estrella didn’t take Sergio’s deal. We know he’s just using her. But I wonder if Brisa will be working with him." She is such a snake, it wouldn't surprise me. Then again, she has no skills but that wouldn't bother Sergio to get under Estrella's skin.
That was a great description of Dolores. "Wow, I don’t know if it was make up, clothes, or what but Dolores sure turned into the wicked witch of the west." Perla truly escaped a nasty future.
Jarifa, Liz, Darcy, SpanProf, UA, RGV Chick, Diana & Co.,: Atocha (Ana Belena) scares the expletive out of me. She is one evil & wicked person, who wants to loot more money & will do almost anything to getting what she wants.
Diana , " Camino " looks very interesting . I thought the darkhairedgirl.looked familiar. Love Michelle Also,I haven't seen the handsome, darkhaired villain in a long time. Susan
Susan, yes, Camino does look intriguing!! I really like Michelle (she hasn't done anything in a while) and William Levy too! Paula Echevarría who I'm unfamiliar with also is a lead and the villain is Alejandro Nones.
Steve, I do believe Spain is where she was living.
