Note: my translation may differ from yours because I watch the episodes in Turkish.
Pinar is on the boat with Tayyar. He demands to know what she told Taner. He threatens, if I hear anything from Zerrin, I’ll kill your mother and bury her next to you! She swears she told Taner nothing. Tayyar puts his gun to Pinar’s head. He’s certain she’s slept with Taner. He pulls the trigger. Empty chamber. Tayyar looks shocked. Is it that he pulled the trigger or that the chamber was empty? He tells Pinar she was very, very lucky. Pinar gasps and sobs.
After the movie, Omer follows Elif and Levent to an outdoor café. He takes a table a short distance from them and glares in their direction. Elif and Levent see him. Levent is ticked and asks Elif if she wants him to send Omer away. Elif looks irritated but says let him let him eat wherever he wants. Omer continues to glare and Elif holds her menu in front of her face. Did we see a fleeting smile from her? Game on.
Levent turns around to call the waiter. To his dismay, Omer is still staring. Elif gives her order and excuses herself to use the restroom. She takes a path directly past Omer. She does not acknowledge him, and he follows her with his eyes. He turns to continue watching her. She glances at him and enters the building.
Elif enters the restroom and starts to wash her hands. Omer enters and locks the door. She exclaims, what are you doing?! Omer asks, what are you doing with that man? None of your business, Elif replies. Omer responds, none of my business? You came yesterday and told me a lot of things and now what are you doing? She tells him to get out of her way, she’s going back to her friend.
Omer won’t let her out. He won’t let her go back to “that guy” and declares—you’re not going to talk to him anymore! Elif says that’s not for him to decide. They argue. He grabs her hand and tells her dinner is over and we’re going. She pulls back, I’m not going, I’m not leaving Levent. He opens the door, pulls her through the café and back to the table to collect her bag.
Levent jumps up and states that Elif is not going anywhere. Sez who? Sez me. Levent points his finger, and Omer threatens to break it. Omer orders Elif to get her bag and wait for him outside. Levent asks, who do you think you’re taking? Omer answers—sevgilim. [Sevgilim can be translated in a number of ways: my girl/boyfriend, my love, my sweetheart, my dear. I’ll assume Omer is calling Elif his girlfriend.] Both Levent and Elif are stunned.
Omer continues, if you’re a man, sit down like a man and eat your food. Don’t make me angry. Levent replies, and what will happen if I make you angry? I don’t tolerate such rude people. Don’t force me. Omer pushes Levent into his seat—now who’s rude to whom? Levent is ready to get up, but Elif reaches out to stop him. She apologizes to Levent.
Now Omer points his finger at Levent. He warns, I understand that you work at the same place. But you saw me, you know who I am. After this, you’ll no longer go out with Elif. Omer tries to grab Elif’s hand, but she pulls it away. She apologizes to Levent again and walks. Omer follows her.
Zerrin is with Asli. She says she’s going to the cafeteria and asks Asli if she wants a magazine. Nope. Asli asks Zerrin to call the nurse to fix her IV. As soon as Zerrin leaves, Asli tries to get up. It’s painful. She removes the IV bottle from the stand. The nurse comes in. Asli quickly says, my mom’s gone to get food, come take me to get an ultrasound. The nurse says it’s not possible. If we go now, Tayyar Bey will know. He’ll tell your mother, and I’ll lose my job. She promises to arrange one later. Asli is desperate to have the ultrasound because she is still bleeding. The nurse helps her back to bed.
Fast and furiously, Elif marches through the park with Omer close on her heels. She starts, Omer, I can’t believe this. What are you? A macho man, a bully? Show your true face so I know. You’re as guilty as that guy, Omer replies, you saw me and didn’t come to me. You’re smiling and talking to that man. So, you showed me your true face.
Elif stops and faces Omer. What are you trying to say? You heard me, he answers. Tell me clearly, she replies. He says, is it that easy for you to take a man’s arm and walk away? They both take a breath. Elif asks, is all this because I kissed you? Because I can kiss everyone who comes across me. I can be hand in hand with everyone, right? Because I am that kind of person. Isn’t that what you’re saying?
She starts walking again. He calls out to her. She barks, sus, komiser, the more you talk, the more you sink. Omer starts following her again.
Levent is back at the office and very upset. Bahar wants to know why he’s back so early. What do you think, he snaps back. She asks, did Elif say something? He tells her to go away. I don’t want to break your heart. [Do you think Levent is beginning to have feelings for Elif?]
The pursuit in the park continues. Omer owns up to his bad behavior. Okay, signorina, I was a donkey. He asks her why she’s running from him. He tries to joke—are you in training for something? The joke is not appreciated. He notes that it’s hard to make witches laugh. He acts and pulls her to a stop. Okay, you win. I apologize, he says. She replies, apologize for what? For what just happened, he answers. And what else, she asks. He says he won’t apologize to Levent.
Elif asks, why didn’t you come to dinner last night? Are you playing a game? He says no. Then answer, she says, it’s a simple question. Omer doesn’t answer. Elif continues, you’re a man who talks even when I tell you to shut up. You’re good with words but when it comes time to tell me something there’s a huge silence. And I’m tired of trying to create an impression. Do you know the effect your smile has upon me? [on me, too. Lol.] I think for hours about your stupid jokes. I’m tired of looking for what you say between the lines…
Omer pulls Elif close, holds her tight and gives her the kiss we’ve all been waiting for. [I’ll catch my breath along with #Elmer (their “ship” name.)] You say talk, Omer tells her, but then you don’t shut up. Did you get your answer? I guess it wasn’t enough… They kiss again, longer this time. [note: the production was reprimanded and fined for some of their kissing scenes.]
It’s nighttime and Elmer are still together in the park. He buys liver wraps for them to eat. Elif confesses she’s never eaten this. She’s not good with offal. But he comments that she’s okay with eating raw fish (sushi). He promises to eat sushi, a cooked one, if she eats this. I never imagined we’d be sitting here, eating this, he says. She agrees.
Elif changes the subject. What about Taner? He can’t be the killer. He asks, are you sure you know Taner? Yes, of course, she replies, he’s family. Omer won’t say more, but Elif presses. Don’t be upset, he says. All I know is that Taner is lying. To you and your sister. He’s having an affair. Elif can’t believe it. Then she realizes…it’s Pinar, Tayyar Amca’s girlfriend? Asli loves her husband. This will destroy her.
Omer says he’s sure about it and tells Elif it’s up to her if she wants to tell Asli. But Taner is married to Asli out of self-interest. He doesn’t love her. Elif accuses Omer of judging her family. He thinks they all have secrets and lie. [well?] Omer brings up Nilufer and her relationship with Mert. Asli doesn’t trust any of you, he says, she didn’t tell you about her fight with your father. And Taner is a manipulator.
Elif has heard enough. She asks, wouldn’t you be offended if you heard this about your family? Omer says this wouldn’t happen in his family. They are people that live in their own little world. Elif, even the house you live in stands in the center of our lives, looking down on us all. Doesn’t that tell you something? In life, money is one of our greatest weaknesses. Once we get it, we don’t want to let it go. You are being lied to because of money, and I’ll bring you proof. Elif gets up and walks away. Omer follows.
Melike tidies up her bedroom and she’s cranky. She complains about Huseyin’s dirty clothes laying around. She picks them up and something falls out of his pants pocket. It’s a bank receipt in the name of Demet Demir. I think it’s 20k TL (?) Melike shouts for Demet. She shows the book to Demet, who has no idea what it is. She grabs the girl by the hair and demands to know where the money came from. Demet swears she knows nothing. Did you get a modeling job? Did you steal? Demet denies this is hers.
Elmer sit on a park bench. Omer begins, that night brought us together. You can call it fate or misfortune, but our lives are officially tied together. A lot will happen before the murderer is caught. But I want you to know that I’m always on your side. Okay, signorina, tell me your unfinished life story. Elif would rather hear his first. Where were you born? How were you as a kid?
My story is boring, Omer replies, your life in Rome, it’s a high-class life, full of diamonds. Tell it so our hearts can lighten. Elif gazes at Omer, smiles and says she’ll keep quiet until morning. Omer returns her smile and says, I could watch you until the morning without getting bored. [and I could watch them till morning and not get bored.]
I’ll start with your eyes, Omer says as he runs his thumb over the corner of her brow. Your eyes reveal you the most, like a child. They don’t know hypocrisy. You can understand everything from their eyes. And their cheeks… he brushes his fingers over her cheek. If they flush, you know that’s a good person. They can still feel embarrassment. You are like that, too. Eyes… cheeks… nose… he lightly touches her nose… his finger is on her lips… I could watch them until the morning and not get bored. Her eyes are closed, and he goes in for the kiss and savors it with his eyes closed.
Omer? Yes? She confesses she heard what he said to Arda. He asks, what did you hear? She smiles and shrugs. He laughs and says she’s punished. And what’s the punishment? According to Omer Demir’s law, this is a crime, and the punishment is to pretend you never heard it. Knowing it exists is enough for me, Elif answers. And she rests her head on his shoulder. He puts his arms around her. She puts her hand on his chest. He likes that.
Mert comes to see Nilufer. She asks him for a favor. He’s the only close male friend that she can trust. She says this is about a friend from HS. Her boyfriend recorded them having sex. Mert is wowed. Nilu continues, it’s bad and she’s asked for my help. Maybe you can help. Mert thinks the friend should go to the police. Nilu thought of that too. She asks one more thing—what makes a man do something like this? Mert thinks blackmail or maybe he’s just a pervert. Nilu looks upset and Mert picks up on it. He asks, this didn’t happen to you, did it? She denies it. Don’t make me sorry I told you.
Asli and the nurse are sneaking down the hallway. They spot Zerrin and hide around a corner. Zerrin tells another nurse she’s leaving for the night and asks her to check in on Asli. Zerrin leaves and Asli and the nurse continue on their way.
Tayyar continues to torture Pinar on the boat. He calls her lucky again. She swears she isn’t lying to him. He cuffs her to a lamp in a bedroom. He’s going to leave her for a few days. She begs Tayyar not to leave her there. Tayyar gives orders that no one should open the door except for him.
Omer walks Elif home. It’s getting late. There’s a bit of awkwardness. Elif turns to go but Omer calls out—is it really too late? Elif turns back, well, it’s not that late in Rome. He adds, then it’s not late in America. What should we do? You can go home if you want, he says, or we could walk in the opposite direction. Elif feels cold. Omer says we’ll find a place to drink tea. She notes all the places are closing.
Omer has a place in mind but thinks Elif might get the wrong idea. Elif says she has the same place in mind. Well, it won’t be our first time, he comments, we can drink tea and talk. We can listen to music, she adds, besides I haven’t watched an Istanbul sunrise in years. They start walking.
The nurse does a sonogram on Asli. She finds nothing. Asli asks, how is the baby? Can you get a heartbeat? I may be mistaken, the nurse hesitantly replies, but you’re not pregnant. I can’t see the baby. Asli sits up and tells the nurse to shut up. I’m 8 weeks pregnant! She demands to see a doctor.
Fatih meets Tayyar at the dock. He wonders if Tayyar’s boat broke down. Tayyar doesn’t want to talk about it. Fatih gives him the news that the courier is going to Rome tomorrow and Elif’s goods are going this weekend. I’ll go and supervise. On Monday, your 20 million will be laundered and in your account.
Tayyar tells Fatih if he wants to be in his favor, he will clean someone for him—Ahmet’s groom, Taner. Fatih says just tell me when and where. Tayyar says that Taner is in custody. Fatih asks, what did he do? Don’t ask, Tayyar replies. I spoke to Ali, he will arrange it. Taner will be sent to the hospital for a checkup tomorrow. You know what to do. Yes, Fatih replies, and we will recite Al-Fatiha tomorrow, too. [verses from the Quran. Said during prayers, at funerals and when visiting a grave.]
The doctor comes to see Asli. Asli tells her the nurse did a bad job on the sonogram. She said there was no baby. The doctor hesitates and Asli want an answer. Doc delivers the bad news, I’m sorry, Asli Hanım, you are not pregnant anymore. Asli starts to freak out. The doc sends the nurse out of the room. The doc explains that Asli had an abortion. Asli starts to struggle with the doc. She shouts for Tayyar to come. She calls them killers. The nurse comes back with a PCA and Asli is restrained and sedated.
Tayyar comes home. Mert is there. He tells his dad that Pinar has been missing for days. Tayyar says that she’s gone to visit her mother. They sit for a father - son chat. Mert says that things aren’t going well and asks for help. Tayyar advises him to forget about Nilufer. It’s not so easy, Mert replies, haven’t you ever been in love? I really love her. Mert says Nilu has a crazy boyfriend recorded her inappropriately. He’s threatening the girl. We should look for that idiot. He should pay for what he did. Mert gets a call and steps away. Tayyar’s wheels turn.
Melike pushes Huseyin into the bedroom. She locks the door. He gets the wrong idea. She shows him the bank statement. He accuses her of going through his pockets. She says she wasn’t looking, she found it under the chair. Huseyin is caught. Melike tells him she confronted Demet, but she didn’t know anything about this, so it must be his. He says this is none of her business. She demands to know where the 20k came from. Are you selling girls? Gambling? Taking bribes?
Huseyin jumps up and shouts back—hey, take it easy! Then talk, Melike replies, or I’ll tell your mother and Omer. Huseyin looks stricken. He gulps. He says it’s for Demet’s college education. He’s been saving since her birth. Are you happy? Melike looks ashamed and she apologizes. He puts a guilt trip on her. She beats up on herself. He’s always taken care of them, working night and day. She hugs him and cries. By the look on his face, there’s something more to this.
Elmer are in that hotel room again. She brings him a cup of tea—tea bag, not brewed. Omer takes the cup. It will never be as good as brewed, he says, but any kind of tea is welcome, eline sağlık (health to your hands). Afiyet olsun (bon appetit), Elif replies, although I didn’t do anything.
Omer gives her a teasing smile. You definitely don’t know how to cook either. Allah, Allah, Elif answers, you think that way. Don’t get offended, he replies, after all, you grew up with maids and cooks. You have a lot of helpers at home. Do you even know where the tea kettle is? She fires back—I knew where it was in my house in Rome. I used to cook there. I miss it so much. Some mornings I open my eyes, I think I’m there, she says wistfully. But then I remember everything.
Omer puts his cup down. He puts his hand on her shoulder and looks at her. She looks at him. Soft smile from him and he changes the subject. He runs his finger down the back of her neck, over her tattoo. The only thing I can’t figure out about you is this. I can’t see it all. Is it the Braille alphabet? She nods. He runs his finger over it again and asks, mi “koşulsuz”? (Is it “unconditional”?)
Elif is surprised. I’m sure you looked it up, she says. How did you learn? Öğrendim, öğrendim (I learned, I learned). The method is not important, Omer replies with his smile. What does the rest say? He pulls down the back of her shirt to look, she flinches. You’re a smart man, I think you can figure it out. They don’t take their eyes off each other. [Their gazes… omg]
Omer guesses, sevgi mi? (Is it love?). Elif nods—unconditional love. It’s the only thing I’ve been looking for in my life. He asks, have you found it? She shrugs, the answer to this question is hidden from me. Omer softly declares, Elif, if you will have me, I will surrender to you. Look at him lean in. [*melt*] He gives little kisses on the crook of her neck, her shoulder… She turns her face to him. They kiss. She pulls off his shirt. Lights go out.
Morning. Omer is awake and watches Elif sleep. She opens her eyes and smiles at him. She asks, what’s the matter? He says, everything moves both so fast and so slow. I’m not doing anything to hurt you, am I? She pauses then shakes her head no. Nothing that comes from you can offend.
Omer kisses her forehead. I promise I will give you the unconditional love you are looking for as much as I can, but you promise me something. Remember when we talked at Polonezköy? No matter what happens, however bad it is, everything will be true. I’m looking for this—samimiyet (sincerity). Can I ask this? She nods yes. He smiles, kisses her shoulder and gets up from the bed.
That leaves Elif wondering how she’s going to keep this promise to Omer. She gets up and gets dressed. Omer is dressed and back. Will Elif come clean?
And we are out.
Omer and Elif are in hotel getting ready to leave. Elif is trying to confess to Omer about her money laundering. Arda calls. O and E kiss and Omer leaves. Elif has a very worried look.
Ali talks to Fatih/Metin on the phone about the Rome job. Ali says, “Metin, Taner will be in the hospital about an hour. Solve the problem without much harm. Don’t let it fester.”
F/M: What about the airport? She is about to arrive.
Ali: Don’t worry about it, Fatih, all is set. (I notice that he uses both names for Fatih/Metin.)
Nilufer is anxiously waiting outside for Fatih and says: There’s been an emergency. We need to talk.
Fatih: If it’s about Rome, I have two hours of work to do first. Wait for me, and we’ll plan our getaway together.
N: (Firmly) No, we will talk now.
Fatih: I said I’m busy, later.
She yells at him: You can’t walk away—I watched the DVD!
Fatih looks at her in horror.
The Four Musketeers (Husseyn, Arda, Pelin, and Omer) are in a car. Husseyn: There’s something the forensic expert wants us to see.
The expert takes them to the car with a black light. Blood stains in the trunk and on the steering wheel. Expert: He must have driven car awhile with these bloody hands.
Arda: Did you check clothing?
Expert: Yes, we found blood stains on the sleeve of his shirt as well.
Husseyn to Omer: I don’t want to say this, but the murderer is Taner.
Elif is packing up her office for the move to a smaller building.
Bahar: Shame on you. I’ve seen Mr. Levent. You really made a fool of him and then Omer showed up. Levent is really upset now.
Elif: Yeah, I wish it hadn’t happened, but I’ll make it up to him.
Bahar: So, what did you do? Are you really in love with that guy?
Elif: Yes.
Bahar: So, why are you so upset?
Elif replies: I’m hiding something from Omer.
Bahar: What?
Elif: I lied when Nilufer was kidnapped. The problem is he thinks I’ve never lied to him.
Bahar: Everyone lies.
Elif: He hates liars, he really does. I told him a really big lie. What do I do?
Bahar: Be honest.
Elif: Are you sure?
Bahar: If he’s so important to you, then tell him the truth. He hates lies, so he’ll understand if he loves you so much.
Elif: What if he doesn’t want to see me again?
Bahar: Not for me to choose. Your choices are: Hide behind your lie and look guilty or you tell the truth even if you might lose.
Nilufer and Fatih in car.
N: Congrats. You’re a great player or am I the silly one? How can you do that to me? Is everything we’ve lived a lie?
F: No, Nilufer. The guy who wants to kidnap you was becoming dangerous. I had to do something. I had no choice. (I’m still confused as to taking the intimate video would please his boss (Tayyar), but this is Fatih’s lame excuse.)
N: So, you sold me out to save yourself? You’re not anybody’s man.
F: I threw out the DVD and deleted the tapes. I threw it out in my home, but you found it. No one else has seen it.
N: How can I believe you? I trusted you like I trusted my father. You used me!
F: I swear I didn’t give that DVD to anyone. I didn’t hurt us. I can shoot myself right now if you want, but would that satisfy you? That’s what hurts the most. I’ve never loved anyone more than I love you. I’m in love with you. He looks at her earnestly, but she still has a sad face.
Babachita
Tayyar is at Metin’s house, looking for clues as to what other job he was referring to. He finds the hidden camera and sees the video of Nilufer and Fatih. He has a thoughtful expression on his face.
Back at the roadblock, Fatih and Nilufer are in car while the police are doing a criminal background check. The cops: We need to take you to the station. You look like someone we’ve been looking for. (Probably thanks to Elif’s accurate drawing of the kidnapper.)
Hospital: Asli is crying because she now knows they aborted her baby. Zerrin comes in: You need some rest.
Asli, very angry: Liar, you took my baby! I hate you! What kind of mother are you?
Zerrin: I did this for your sake.
Asli: How could you do this without asking me. Where is Taner? Did you let him in on this? Where is my baby?
Asli pushes her mother, who falls and hits her head, fatally. (Uh oh!)
Elif is still on the beach. Omer finds her. They hug.
Omer: I need to tell you some important things about Taner.
Elif: I need to tell you something important now or never, Omer! I may not have the courage again! Please listen, and say nothing. This morning I wanted everything between us to be perfect. Maybe I’m going to ruin everything by telling you this, but I want everything to be truthful. (He is listening.) I don’t want to be another Sibel in your life. (This gets his attention and a frown appears.) Omer, I lied to you. I didn’t go to Rome for my business. After Metin kidnapped Nilufer, he threatened her and forced me to, I had no choice, I laundered money while in Rome I became a courier.
The body language of Elif and Omer shows fear on her part and frustration and building anger on his.
Elif, continues: That’s not all! There’s more. Metin made me produce fashion goods to sell in Rome at really high prices. Today a courier is on her way to Rome. My documents are in their hands. There are so many papers that I’ve been forced to sign.
Omer stares at her.
Elif, continues: I’m a criminal. I’m a con artist who laundered money.
Omer looks very stricken at this confession.
At Elva’s, someone (we can’t see who) is opening the dovecote and lifting a dove off its nest, taking the bird out.
Flashback:
In the car at the murder scene:
Sibel says to Ahmed: You will give me the money, right?
Ahmed: I just need more time.
Someone wearing gloves knocks on the car window, surprising both of them.
Ahmed opens the window. He is shot in the head. Sibel cries out. Why did you shoot? Next scene is in the cabin nearby. Sibel crawls to the wall and begs killer not to shoot her. We’re related (!!!), and we then we see Husseyn come into view. His eyes are wild. “What were you doing in that car?
Sibel: I will tell you everything. Please put the gun down.
Husseyn: What were you doing with Elif’s father?
Sibel: I’m the courier. I met Ahmed this way. They have diamonds. I’m taking them abroad. I laundered the money. I met him for the diamonds tonight. I swear there’s nothing else.
(Husseyn keeps looking at her with his wild eyes.)
Sibel continues: I love Omer so much. You know I would never get him involved in this. Nothing more, I swear it. All of this is for my father’s surgery. I promise I’m going to save all the money for it. I swear I’m not going to do this again, please.
Husseyn: Shakes his head. Slaps her. You are disgusting!
Sibel: Please don’t do anything to me, please.
Husseyn: What were you doing there, Sibel? Why did you come up here? What should I do now? You saw everything! How can I leave you now, Sibel?
Sibel: I won’t tell anyone. No word to Omer! I’ve made mistakes, you may have, too. We should help each other. Think about me and Omer. How can you act so heartless towards us. Please don’t separate us. Look, I’m saying this for me and Omer. I really don’t want to die.
Husseyn glares at her and shoots her. Wild eyed, he drags her body and places her in the car.
Wild crazy expression on his face.
Babachita
Husseyn drives home and goes to the dovecote. He gets a packet from under the dove’s nest. It’s the diamonds! He smiles.
Back at the beach:
Omer and Elif
Elif: Please say something. Will you forgive me? You’re honest, so’s your family. I wouldn’t ruin your life and waste your time with me if I were you.
Omer is thinking hard.
Elif turns and walks away.
Omer, hands on his face, watches her walk away. He thinks a bit, then he leaves. She cries (walking ahead of him) and looks back to see him walk in the other direction. She stumbles off.
Omer gets a call from Arda: We need Elif, we really need to reach her. Omer asks what is up. Arda says: Bad news, Omer, and he tells Omer about Zerrin’s death.
Back at the dovecote:
Husseyn removes the diamonds and puts them in his pocket.
After he stands up, Melike runs into him and spills some food or drink on him. She wants to clean it. He yells that he will do it. He grabs her hand harshly to keep her from cleaning his clothing. Wild eyes again!
Melike: I don’t understand why you’re getting so mad. I didn’t mean to spill. What are you doing here, anyway?
Husseyn: I was just walking, dammit, it isn’t illegal, is it? I’m going to the market, and then his son want to go, too. Husseyn oesn’t want to take him. His son says: I thought you were off duty.
Husseyn: I’m off duty and what am I doing? Bird hunting with a slingshot? Playing some ball? Go with your friends, son.
Melike: Let him go with you.
Husseyn: You’re keeping me from doing my job.
They glower at each other.
Melike: At least go and change.
Husseyn: There’s no need.
Melike: What will people say if you go out like that?
He blows her off and leaves.
Hospital:
The staff and Tayyar’s people have been coached: Zerrin entered and shouted at the nurse, a woman (not Asli) pushed her mom, nurse tried to stop her. Others being interviewed back this story up.
Tayyar; Did you do what I said?
His man says: The reports have been delivered.
Tayyar: Where’s Asli?
Man: She’s locked herself in her room and is not letting anyone in.
Tayyar: How could you do such a thing?
Man: She got very angry at the nurse and felt pressured. I left attendant at the door, you know, sir, for her to calm down a bit.
Tayyar: Ok, good job.
Babachita
Back at the beach: Omer running, looking for Elif, with no luck. His arms are flailing in frustration He calls her. Elif is driving and ignores the call.
Hospital: Asli is alone in room and threatens to jump out the window.
Tayyar’s man breaks down door. There’s a great camera shot of little Asli crouching in a small window as the camera pans out to show a huge building. Tayyar runs to her and catches her before she jumps.
Back at the road block, Metin is going with the cops Nilufer runs after them. He tells her to stay, but she won’t leave him. She goes in the police car as well.
The cops in the car get a message (about Zerrin). They drive off with Metin and Nilufer.
At Fatma’s:
Hatice returns crying. Fatma hugs her, it’s ok. What happened?
Hatice: Cops showed up. I thought I was caught. I couldn’t do it; I left it there. I’m sorry!
Fatma hugs her.
Hatice: What about Metin?
Fatma says she’ll take care of it.
Hospital: Tayyar with Asli Asli: I can’t calm down I killed my mom.
Tayyar: It’s OK Asli, really it is.
Asli: I pushed her. (Nurse gives her a shot)
Tayyar: Calm down. Then he tells nurse to keep her tranquilized and under control.
In the hall, Tayyar says to attendants: Until Asli goes to IC, no one enters room without my permission, no one, not even cops or relatives. See me first.
Be sure all on this floor understand this.
Idiot who didn’t prescribe tranquilizers doesn’t know his job.
Episode 37 ends with a very angry Tayyer face.

I apologize for not getting the above in order. Notice that 2 of 5 was placed in last, out of order!

Police Station:
Husseyn walking up the stairs, Omer flipping his Zippo. Husseyn asks if any news. Arda, Omer, and Pelin are still waiting. Husseyn says Taner will be arrested.
Omer: We shouldn’t be this certain.
Husseyn: We’re talking because we know something. I’ve talked to the prosecution.
Omer: Something doesn’t sound right about this. I don’t think Taner murdered Sibel or Ahmed. You’ll see when the blood samples are back. I’m sure they won’t match.
Husseyn: If you know something tell me. All the evidence points to Taner.
Omer: My instinct says it wasn’t like that.
Husseyn: What an instinct that is!
Arda: Omer, Husseyn is right this time. All the evidence is pointing at Taner.
Pelin: Sometimes the voice inside us can confuse us, Omer.
Husseyn: Now I wish he would change his mind and admit Taner could benefit from this.
At Denizer Holding, Levent takes his letter of resignation to Bahar. “I won’t play anymore; I’m leaving the company and you!
Courthouse:
Omer is pacing. The prosecutor comes out: It was decided to take the prisoner to trial. Well done, you have successfully closed the file.
Husseyn: Thank you.
Omer is still thinking, unconvinced.
Pelin: You don’t seem happy that Sibel’s murderer has been found.
Omer: It’s not Taner, Pelin.
Out of the door comes Taner, crying to the judge that he is innocent, escorted by policemen. To Omer he says, I didn’t commit these murders.
He is told he is forbidden to speak. He continues, please help me, Omer. I’m innocent.
Husseyn: (Mocking Taner), “Be brave now, are you always like this? You stab two people and you still make these claims. What do we do now? Rest and tea. And, Omer, you can kiss my hand.
At the airport: Fatma and Hatice. Fatma wails: My heart is beating in my throat.
A man brings Hatice a suitcase: Hello, my brother Metin sends his regards. Don’t give this to security, you know.
Hatice: Yes, I know.
Hatice takes suitcase. Fatma cries and hugs her. Hatice tells her to calm down. I’ll be home in a few days. Fatma cries and leaves. Hatice goes through carry-on line with no problem.
Tayyar waiting for an elevator, might be Fatih’s place. He is looking for Metin and calls: Where are you?
Metin: I have an urgent job.
Tayyar: Don’t talk about your job. What could be more important than the job I gave you? Taner is already out of the hospital and in the courthouse.
Fatih: I’m going there. Don’t worry.
Tayyar: The man is arrested, OK. Now it’s up to you if you shoot Taner or have him shot. Stay away from me until it’s over.
Fatih to Nilufer: I need to drop you off.
Nilufer: Who was that? Please don’t hide anymore. Who’s doing all these horrible things to you?
Fatih: My father.
Just then they arrive at a police roadblock!
Back at the Airport: Cops discuss among themselves, Is that her? (They seem to know her.) They tell her to stop and wait. She’s stressing out.
Taner in a police car, wondering how cops knew about the diamonds.
Flashback: Taner: Who are you and some goons ask him: Where are diamonds? They later beat him up. Taner recalls Pinar in the car after she rescues him, saying: I told you, let’s get out of here Tayyar kills! But you didn’t listen to me.”
Lightbulb goes on as Taner realizes that the diamonds belong to Tayyar.

Thank you Dondi for your wonderful recap! One moment of peace for Elif and Omer before things get crazier! LOL
I still think it's a little much that Omer was stalking her on her 'date' but I suppose it worked. Yes, the translations were slightly different, but the Turkish is accurate of course. There's one line - I forget exactly what it is - in the Spanish translation in the bathroom scene that as soon as I heard it, I knew it wasn't what the actors actually said because it didn't fit, but it's generally close enough that you get the mood of the conversation.
I was a little surprised that the doctor admitted to Asli that she had an abortion! You'd think that if you went to all the trouble to do that while she was incapacitated, you'd at least try to convince her that she'd miscarried intentionally as a result of the medications or something. Kind of bold to just admit it!!!
I wanted to believe Huseyin was just a red herring but let's face it that theory is up in flames, why is the bank book in his daughter's name though? Is it as innocent as that is her college fund? Or is he stealing her identity? Intriguing!
Thanks again Dondi!!!
Thanks, Babachita! You got a great action-packed and crazy episode to recap and you did it justice!
WOW!!! It finally makes sense why Huseyin is so bent on blaming Taner!!!! He needs someone to take the fall!! WOW!!! I did not see that coming! I love it when you don't see it coming, let's face it that doesn't happen often in shows!
Huseyin is a villain too! Not like we had a shortage of those, but now we have another one and a whole another layer of context between Elif and Omer. Elif feels like Omer judges her family because they are flawed and liars and Omer feels like his family is normal and health; but how's he going to feel when he finds out the murderer is his brother? Then again, Elif's sister is sleeping with her kidnapper, and her mother forced her sister's abortion, her father was a money laundering diamond smuggler.... they might find common ground after all!
I'm still shocked! Talk about hiding behind an innocent face! It reminds me of the movie Exit Wounds where they are investigating all these corrupt cops and, in the end, you find out one of the ring leaders was the Mr. Nice Guy cop that everyone liked and in the big reveal scene he says, 'The greatest trick the devil ever played was convincing the world he didn't exist.'
And Elif tells Omer the truth, which is good, but he is too shocked to say anything, and she's left alone just hours after he promised her unconditional love. I guess he should have looked up the dictionary definition of the words too and not just the braille translation, but he'll be back! Honestly, I don't get what's so scandalizing and hard to forgive, she was threatened and scared! She did a stupid thing because she thought her sister's life depended on it, where's the leap to understanding? I mean it's not a I've been doing this for the last 15 years confession, it's a 'you know that one time when my sister was locked up in that shack a few weeks ago' incidence. But drama we must have!
I wasn't expecting to see both 36+37 up before 8am! LOL It will probably be mid-afternoon before I get 38 up. I have some things I have get done around the house this morning.
No hurry, Darcy! I had mine sort of ready, so when Dondi posted, I did too. Way early both of us! Take your time and savor these great episodes!
37 had three major things: death of Zerrin, Elif confession, and Husseyn! I liked 36 with Elmer getting together. Engin is magic! He was stalking, but she didn’t seem to mind very much!
This is such a great tale!
OT: We are very sad here because our 15 year-old dog Lorena went to the Rainbow Bridge Thursday. It’s good to have KPA to distract from sadness, but I’m getting behind on my regular tn/dizis. Might catch up tomorrow.
Babachita
Belin and Arda in a car fighting come across Omer. They are fighting constantly lately and methinks this is bubbling up to something. Omer didn’t find Elif and he can’t believe Zerrin is dead – it has to be a mistake! They are hoping to find out it was a mistake when they get to the hospital. Everyone comments on what a horrible year it has been for Elif.
Nilufer is pacing waiting to see what will happen to Fatih but Fatih seems calm and the officer comes in and confirms that it’s a compliant from one Elif Denizer that they are investigating. Fatih is still way too calm though the news freaks Nilufer out even more.
Our cop friends find out Zerrin is in fact dead as security tells them the Tayyar approved accident story. Tayyar explains the cameras were off in the room because Zerrin didn’t want Asli’s condition recorded. Tayyar plays the devastated friend, Omer seems a little skeptical but doesn’t say anything. They question why Asli is being sedated but Tayyar says he was worried she would try to self-harm; she threatened to do it, you know. It seems reasonable enough. This reminds me, I was sort of surprised Tayyar was so eager to stop Asli from harming herself last episode, I wouldn’t think he’d care, wouldn’t that be one less obstacle for him?
Back to Nilufer going crazy, she’s about to admit everything and tell the cops who she is and tell them Fatih is innocent but the cops come and say it’s a case of mistaken identity and Fatih is free to go – of course he’s got friends in shady places! Once free Fatih sends Nilufer away in a taxi because he has to get back to business – before she leaves, he assures her he loves her but he never lied to her about what kind of man he is. He promises her no one else saw that video but he’s wrong Tayyar saw it. Nilufer forgives him.
Speaking of Shady! Huseyin has more than one name (at least I think the neighbor at the second house called him by a different name) and more than one family! That’s right, this murderer is a bigamist! He’s got a second wife and another kid! I guess that’s why he couldn’t take Jr with him when he was going out! He’s hiding diamonds in his other kid’s room too! I guess this means he has been stealing diamonds for a while? Or maybe it’s more of the same heist? I think the 2nd family thinks he travels a lot?
More of Arda and Belin snipping at each other as Omer is off to find Elif, these two are definitely going to have to work things out which is what they think Omer and Elif will do because they don’t yet know about the smuggling.
Fatih is back to work and learning about Hatice bailing on the job from his men. He calls Elif to try to pressure her into doing it but Elif is at the end of her rope and she doesn’t give a damn. Fatih threatens to run to Omer and tell him all about Elif’s dirty business and Elif tells him to knock himself out, she has nothing to lose! She hangs up on him. Omer is driving to find Elif thinking about how all she wanted was unconditional love and Elif is walking crying remembering how all he asked for was no lies, she remembers their night together and continues to cry.
Taner isn’t enjoying jail. He listens to the water dropping and once again remembers the night of his attack and Pinar’s words, he tries to ask the cops to call Tayyar for him but they mock him and say ‘Of course, sir’ What else does the rich guy want?
Tayyar is talking to his fish. It creeps me out. They are only content because he feeds them, if not they would eat each other. It Tayyar’s mind he’s victim #1. The security guard comes and reports that he told the cops exactly what he was told to and they suspected nothing. The next guy comes and says Fatih is there.
We see Pinar is still handcuffed to the bed in the boat, she isn’t looking good. I’m pretty sure she could slip that tiny wrist out of that cuff if she was motivated enough.
Tayyar isn’t pleased with Fatih’s ineptness but Fatih assures he’s found a way to get the money out of the country and take care of Taner. Tayyar shows Fatih the video and says ‘what about this’? Fatih says he didn’t hurt Nilufer, he’s in love with her. Tayyar forbids it. Says Fatih is no one to be with Nilufer! He has nothing and is no one. He is never to go near her again! Everything Fatih has is thanks to Fatih, Tayyar smashes Fatih’s fingers in punishment for his behavior and the trouble he’s caused – he has one day to fix this and kill Taner.
Elif is now at dad’s grave. She’s never been here since the funeral. She’s been mad. She thought she knew dad but she was wrong. But you know what? She’s in love for the first time. For the first time she imagined a life with him and today it ended. She’s so mad! He ruined her life. He ruined her childhood. Her youth was part of a life that never existed and now her future is ruined too. And the worst part is she still needs him so much!!! Her whole life was a lie! Take my hand, only with him can she get through this. Elif sobs but when she looks up it’s Omer who is standing there and it’s his hand that is offered to her. Elif takes Omer’s hand and stands up. He tells her he’s been looking for her and Bahar too. Elif wants to talk, she’s willing to hear anything but Omer didn’t come to talk about them. He has bad news. Elif is afraid it’s Asli and Omer assures her Asli is fine. Elif is relieved but only momentarily as Omer has to inform her that her mom is dead. Elif says that’s impossible!!! My dad just died! It was an accident, Omer tells her. She fell at the hospital; they tried to save her but they couldn’t… shock takes over and Elif hits against Omer’s chest as he pulls her in and the tears begin to flow again.
The funeral is next and Omer and Elif are still apart but Omer is apparently still digging the grave (Not sure how this w in Turkish culture if it should be someone close to the family) He can’t keep his eyes off Elif but there’s a polite distance still. Elif is huddled with Nilufer. Elvan and Melike are there and Melike is gossiping about rich people suffering too. Tayyar plays the loving uncle that would never kidnap you and force you to smuggle diamonds. Asli is shown in bed still sedated with tears running down her cheeks. Elif stops at the gravesite to say goodbye to mom, Omer watches Elif constantly but won’t approach.
Omer is at a restaurant with Belen and Arda. Belen and Arda take turns trying to get him to open up but he’s not taking the bait. They keep insisting and he finally tells them about Elif’s confession about money laundering the morning before her mother died. Both cops looked dismayed but no one suggests arresting Elif for breaking the law.
Elif visits Asli and cries telling her how much they need her. She begs her to take care of herself. Tayyar arrives and Elif hugs him and tells him she doesn’t trust the doctors; does Asli really need all these drugs? And for how long? Tayyar reminds Elif that Asli tried to jump out the window. He’s been in touch with her doctors in the U.S. and this is what she needs. Okay, Elif backs down, if that’s what you say I trust you. Elif goes back to Asli and rubs her nose against her sisters giggling and then meets Tayyar in the hallway. She says Taner should be here, it would be good for Asli. Tayyar asks how Taner is doing and Elif hasn’t seen him yet but she’s going to today. I can’t help but wonder if it’s been more than one day, because it certainly seems like Fatih’s one day to kill Taner should have come and gone by now but I digress… Tayyar asks if Taner needs a lawyer but Elif remembers that Pinar is Taner’s lover so she says Taner doesn’t need a lawyer. Tayyar asks if Elif thinks that Taner was the killer and she says she doesn’t know what to think but for Asli’s sake she hopes not, and Tayyar agrees. Elif asks about Pinar and Tayyar says he thinks she’s going to stay with her mom for some time, but we see Pinar is dehydrated on the boat. Congratulations to the makeup team too because she looks it! She desperately angles her head under the skylight hoping to catch a drop of condensation as it falls from above.
I keep hoping that Pinar will survive. Otherwise, why drag it out so long? She is very convincing. I can hardly bear to watch. I wonder if Tayyar will be nicer to her if she survives. Probably not.
Husseyn having another family was another big surprise! He never ceases to amaze! No wonder Melike is difficult. She must know something is wrong. And, now there’s the bank account. I also wonder why it’s in his daughter’s name.
Nice summary, Darcy! My turn next, probably tomorrow morning!
Babachita
Thanks for a great summary of this pivotal episode. I like the Elmer name for our young lovers! Engin is so expressive! I like how he slowly moves forward, taking his lovely time, with changing, evolving expressions throughout. Who knew there were so many silent ways to show your love to a loved one! Ahhhhhhh!
Babachita
Dondi, this seems to be the appropriate place to comment on your episode. I'm always in awe at how much information you give us. Are you also fluent in Turkish?
When Hussein told his wife where the money came from and she apologized and hugged him, saying I love you I noticed he didn't hug her back nor tell her she loved him. Definitely something going on with him.
I had no idea where Elmer's (I like the meld of names) special place was. The hotel. They made good use of it.
Yeah, the nurse in the clinic should have told Asli that she has a miscarriage. As out of it as she is they probably could have made a good case for it.
I watched this episode in two parts a month apart so I don't have too much to comment about it. You are so thorough just acknowledging your hard work seems sufficient.
I'm going to confuse everyone by putting my comments as a reply. But first Babachita, I'm so sorry about your pup. 15 years is a good long life though. Mine rarely make it to 11. We currently have an old man we rescued when it was estimated he was 5-7 years old. That was almost 7 years ago now.
Shocker about Hussein. I thought he was guilty of something, just not that! I think Omer's bad characters in the family just trumped Elif's.
I was also surprised that Zerrin died after the push. Asli was justified in her anger. I call it an accident.
Thanks for explaining the cop scene with Fatih. I had no clue as to why he was getting picked up. Nilufer should have taken his keys though and just followed him to the police station.
Now about the car. Is it only now being analyzed for blood? So whose blood is in the trunk? And the blood on the steering wheel, did Hussein somehow get some of Taner's blood after his beating and smear it on the steering wheel. When Hussein noticed it was Sybil and that she recognized him I would have thought it made more sense to just kill her in the car.
On to the next episode now...
I hope to post shortly. I had to change to a different computer, which has slowed me down. It’s ready to post, so I hope it will go smoothly.
Babachita
The episode begins with Omer, Arda and Pelin sitting at a table at a marina.
Arda (shocked): I didn’t expect this from Elif.
Pelin: What is so surprising about all this? We know Metin was threatening Elif. He had kidnapped her sister. In the end, she did all of this to protect her family and to save Nilufer. I believe she had good intentions. In reality, she also is a victim. She was caught up in all of this.
Omer: She still committed a crime. She had other options. She had me. Look, I’m really angry with Elif. I confronted her in Rome when I suspected her. I asked if they’re making you launder money. I said, “Don’t do anything stupid, otherwise, I can’t help you.”
Pelin: Well, how much could she have trusted you? I mean she was being threatened with her sister’s life. For all she knew, you could have been corrupted by Metin and the slightest mistake, her sister could have died and she knew that. What would you have done if you were in her shoes?
Omer: I’m not blaming Elif, I’m angry with myself. I mean, I’m a cop. I’m supposed to keep it professional.
Arda: Come on, stop beating yourself up, man.
Omer: Tell me how I could not see this. It was all happening right in front of me. I always knew she was hiding stuff from me, you know, from the get-go, but I pushed my suspicions aside and forgot about it. I was blinded.
Arda: Sometimes you forget that you’re only human. You are a very successful cop, but you’re still only human. You can’t catch everything. Even you will make mistakes, Omer.
Pelin: Omer, you trusted her, there is nothing wrong with that. It’s not a mistake.
Omer: How can someone make the same mistake twice? I can’t forgive myself: first with Sibel and now with Elif.
Arda: Come, Omer, it’s different now.
Omer: There’s no difference. There’s none, and the moment I welcomed Elif into my heart, my brain stopped functioning. I mean, I couldn’t control Metin or protect Elif. I’m just as guilty as she is. There’s no excuse.
Omer leaves the group.
Husseyn is looking into a car.
Forensic Expert (FE): Sorry I made you wait. Everyone’s job is an emergency here. They don’t let anyone go anymore. I’m sorry.
Husseyn: No problem.
FE: Sir, could I offer you some tea? It’s finished, just boiled it.
Husseyn: No, thank you. What happened to your report?
FE: It’s here. Sign it and it will be done before you know it, sir.
Husseyn: No, send it to my department as per standard procedure. OK, there was blood on Taner’s share of the car. What happened to it?
FE: The report for that is ready.
Husseyn: So, what’s new?
FE: The blood samples don’t match, sir. It belonged to someone else, neither of which do we know who. Report says blood of victim found on Taner. (He smiles at Husseyn.) Does this make sense to you, sir?
Husseyn: (Smiling) Thanks. You scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours. How does that sound?
They smile at one another.
Babachita
Taner is in his jail cell. There is a dripping faucet which is making him crazy (and it’s making me crazy, too). The door opens. You have a visitor.
Taner: Did you let him know?
Officer: (with sarcasm): Of course we did, son. We aren’t your secretary, and I wouldn’t use up a second of my time for you. You think you’re special?
Taner goes into another room and sees Omer waiting at the phones.
Taner: What are you doing here?
Omer: We need to talk.
Taner: Oh, is that right. Aren’t you a little bit late?
Omer: You’re the one who needs help and here I am. If you help me, I’ll help you. (This reminds me of Husseyn’s backscratching offer!)
Taner: Do you know the witness protection program? Is it worthwhile? My mother-in-law died, and I don’t know the condition of my wife. They need me out there and I’m here in jail. How is that helpful? Who is responsible for that, Omer? You put an innocent man in jail!
Omer: Then explain to me, Taner, why yours and Pinar’s statements don’t match. What did you do that night? 45 minutes are unaccounted for. Where were you, what were you doing? What do the diamonds have to do with you?
Taner: Listen to me carefully, I’ve told them all of this already. I found that diamond in Asli’s lingerie drawer. That’s it, all I know.
Flashback here: While the police are going through the home, Husseyn goes in Asli’s room, into the closet, takes the diamond out and puts it into the lingerie drawer.
Back to Taner: I told you the truth. I told this to everyone else.
Omer: (Thinking, looking into Taner’s eyes). OK, I believe you.’
Taner: (with relief). I didn’t lie to you.
Omer: Yeah, sure, you might not be lying, but you’re hiding something from me. Taner, you just need to explain this. Why were you with Pinar the night of the murder?
Taner: Look, I just can’t tell you that, OK? Just be sure of this, Omer, I am not your killer. How many times do I have to tell you I am innocent? OK??? (Yells) OK??
Omer: (Holds phone out because Taner is yelling) Ok. Calm down, just breathe. Let’s come to an agreement. You help me and I’ll help you. Now or never.
Taner: There is someone else who is looking for the diamonds. He started following me everywhere. He made me hand over the diamond I found. He thought I found all of them. If you help me, I will lead you to him.
Omer: Who is he? Who’s the owner of the diamonds?
Taner: I don’t know, maybe he’s the killer, maybe not. The only thing I know is that he a dangerous man and he needs to be stopped. Taner smiles and hangs up.
Omer: Taner, don’t stop! Tell me who it is!
Taner leaves.
Outside the jail, Elif is with a Lady Lawyer (LL), whose name might be Sebnem.
LL: If Mr. Taner wanted to see you so bad, he must have really missed you. I know he was sad about your mother’s death.
Elif: I hope you’re right. I’m so confused.
LL: I know. We’re working on even the smallest deal in the file. We need to present all the case in the first hearing, but what we have now is not that strong.
Elif: I know.
The door opens and Omer is exiting the jail. He stares at Elif.
LL: Hello, Mr. Omer.
Omer: Hi there.
He strides off.
Elif: LL you go in, I’ll come in in a minute. She runs after Omer, asking him to wait up.
Omer: Don’t worry about me. How are you?
Elif: I’m, breathing, I guess. I want to say thank you. Thank you for everything that you did. I really appreciate it.
Omer: It’s human nature. Everyone would do the same thing.
They stare into each other’s eyes.
Omer: Take care, Elif.
Elif: Omer, don’t do this. Talk to me. Scream, yell, arrest me, but please do something. Don’t punish me with this silence!
Omer: Elif, this is not the time or place. Elif: Why? Because I lost my mom? I’ll still be hurting the same way the next time you talk, Omer.
More stares.
(They reach his car.) Omer: I don’t want to talk.
Babachita
Elif: You don’t want to or are you scared to talk?
Omer: (He looks worried.)
Elif: I’m standing here in front of you. Are you afraid of the answers or the questions, Omer?
Omer: Please don’t ask, or I’ll break your heart.
Elif: Didn’t you say you wanted everything to be real? Well, here I am, right now. I’m standing before you with all my truths, mistakes, and all my lies. I’m not calling you into account. All I want is an answer from you. Anything. You wouldn’t even know about it. I would be crying on your shoulder for my mother right now. Please, I’m standing here in front of you. Just give me an answer.
Omer: Are you brave enough to hear what I’m going to say now?
Elif: I am.
Flashback:
Omer: You didn’t launder money, did you?
Elif: (Shakes her head no but doesn’t look him in the eyes.)
Omer: Elif, if you launder money, no one can save you, not even me.
Omer: Only one thing I asked for, honesty. I told you not to lie to me or yourself. You just told me too late, Elif.
Elif: I was scared of you.
Omer: You were scared, but after that you had so much time to explain. I told you that I trusted you more than anyone and what did you do? You kept quiet. What, were you scared that day, too?
Elif: Don’t say that. I only lied to you once. Everything else I said was the truth. The rest was all real. Omer, please, look into my eyes. You know me better than anyone else, please. (He’s still looking down, avoiding her eyes.). Omer, you’re the only one who’s here for me.
(Now he finally looks at her.)
Omer: No, I don’t know you. I’ve never known you. Looks like you’re still just a stranger to me.
Omer has his sad face with a frown. He gets into the car and leaves.
Elif is crestfallen. Omer does look in his rear-view mirror. She cries and sits on the curb, head in her hands.
Metin at his father’s hospital, goes in the basement entrance. His fingers are bandaged from his punishment.
Tayyar: Did you check?
Metin: Your guys checked.
Tayyar: Is there a problem?
Metin: No.
Tayyar: The price is clear. The one who makes the mistake pays the price. Now, don’t complain like a woman. Do you understand what I’m saying?
This new girl, the courier, any notes from you?
Metin: She hasn’t left her house since that day. I’ve put men at her door, watching her.
Tayyar: Who is this new girl. I’ve not met her yet.
Metin gives Taner the side-eye: It’s not important. She needed money and I gave her a job. (I’m wondering if the men reported back to Tayyar that she lives where Sibel lived.)
Taner: OK, but who is she? Where’d you find her?
Metin: Just a courier girl. Why are you so surprised?
Tayyar: Are you actually lying to me?
Metin: No, why would I lie to you?
Tayyar: OK, then, from now on, don’t look to your right if you’re lying and don’t scratch your neck. Those are the first indications the liar has. Learn about body language. You have gaps. Now grab that girl by the ear and bring her here to me tomorrow, whoever she is, right. You got it?
No answer.
Tayyar: Very well, you’re going to solve the problem today. As you know, time is running out for you, so I hope all is on track.
Metin: Nods. It’s done. Our guy is entering the prison today and they’ll be cellmates.
Tayyar: If you mess this up, I’ll make you a cellmate. So, it’s his neck or yours.
Metin: I know.
Tayyar: We are all busy today, huh? You are keeping your word, right? You haven’t seen Nilufer?
Metin: I haven’t.
Tayyar: You know, I’ll know if you did, even you ever see Nilufer I’ll know it.
Metin stands straight as Tayyar walks out. Phone rings, Nilufer. He hangs up and walks out.
Babachita
Taner writes to Pinar. This is my second letter I’m writing. You’re either too busy to go to the mailbox or something has happened to you. I hope that you are fine.
Lights go out. An officer brings him “a friend.”
Officer: Now you ladies sit down and gossip.
Friend looks very menacing. Taner is polite to him. They sit.
Police Station:
Husseyn: Homicide classic, the Murder of a Woman,
Omer walks in.
Husseyn: Welcome, brother. No one says “Hi” anymore?
Omer: Thanks, man.
Arda: Where were you?
Pelin: Taner’s reports arrived from the forensic unit.
Husseyn: Looks around.
Arda: What does it say?
Pelin: DNA matches the blood stains.
Omer looks at the report.
Husseyn: That’s no surprise. I expected it. (No kidding!!!). What are you looking for?
Arda: The report is pretty straightforward.
Omer: It’s not over yet.
Husseyn: What’s not over yet?
Omer: When we interrogated that guy (Taner), didn’t he seem surprised? He doesn’t have the slightest idea about the location of the murder.
Husseyn: Did you expect him to confess?
Omer: There’s no reason for him to kill them.
Husseyn: Money. Is there a better reason that money? There were bills in the man’s car with $110 million. That amount of money can make a person lose his mind. [He should know!!!] Taner killed the man and planned to run away with his girlfriend. He looked behind him and saw the diamonds and went to the house to find the rest of them. That’s all that happened.
Omer: We know there are traces of blood on the shirt. What were traces doing in the trunk of the car? Both dead bodies were in Ahmed’s car. We know that Sibel’s dead body was dragged to Ahmed’s car. That’s clear. So, it doesn’t make sense to find traces of blood in the trunk, it just doesn’t make sense. I can’t accept that. I can’t. They’ve been working on closing this case from the beginning. That same is happening right now. Someone is trying to keep Taner in jail and close this case.
Husseyn: What do you mean? What are you saying? (Very excited) We’ve been working on this case the entire time. We are the ones who gathered evidence, Omer, even if you can’t accept what Sibel did, it doesn’t change the reality.
Omer: What are you trying to say?
Yelling at each other! Pelin and Arda step in: This is not the place; we’ll talk about this later.
Husseyn looks are Omer with anger: My word, I’m not hiding anything. Listen to what you are saying, (shaking the file for emphasis) first.
Omer: Oh, come on!!!
Arda: Come on, OK? Let’s go get some fresh air. OK? Come on.
Omer (To Husseyn): You’re so wrong, man, so wrong! (He stomps out of the room, followed by Arda.)
Husseyn to Pelin: Hey, he thinks he’s a savior acting like that, reopening the case like that. Sibel was not an angel, he needs to face it and deal with it. He doesn’t like the truth and he’s not willing to face it.
Pelin looks sad.
Husseyn sits with eyes rolling, looking at lot like his wild eyes.

I’m about halfway finished entering here. I have no idea how many pages. I will announce here when it is done.

Arda to Omer: He’s your older brother. You need to show him more respect, Omer.
Omer: He may be my brother at home, but work is making our decisions over people’s lives. I’ll tell him if he’s wrong. We are sure that the killer took the diamonds. Now, if Taner is the killer, where exactly are the diamonds?
Arda: Omer, people are killing each other for money. For example, anybody could commit a crime if they want to. You always look for a reason behind every situation. People can kill each other over the smallest of things. Look around, just look. It’s honestly as simple as that. Omer, you used to think about the situation practically. Because of your line of work, you think about things in a complicated way. People murder people. That’s that. Even if somehow Taner knew something, he’d be talking about it.
(Omer still making a face, he’s not convinced.)
I understand that you must be frustrated that we haven’t caught Metin and brought them down, but we’ll eventually solve it. We’ll find the killer; he won’t go unpunished.
Omer: OK, fine. You want me to be quiet. Well for now, I’ll be quiet. You do as you please, and I’ll do as I please. OK? Taner is no murderer, but he is hiding something. I’m going to find out what.
Arda: Omer, did you talk to Elif?
Omer: Yeah, I did, but I wish I hadn’t.
Arda: That bad. It can’t be right. Listen, this can’t keep going on like this. Will you forgive her?
Omer: I just can’t accept it. I can’t. It doesn’t make any sense.
(Omar in car, Arda at the window)
Arda: Come on; listen to me. I know you’re stubborn. But we’re doing nothing about this confession. We are committing a crime. We’ll be in serious trouble if Elif gets arrested, you know. You can’t tell me that you haven’t thought about that. I know deep down, you’re worried about this.
Omer shuts down, glowers, and drives off.
At a marina, Melike, Elvan, and Demet are walking.
Melike: Thanks for pulling me into this mess, Mom. I don’t know how you got me involved. (I believe this means Melike and Husseyn may not always have been living in Istanbul.). Melike says it’s like living between two cities. She is upset because they are going to Zerrin’s funeral prayer service.
Elvan: What should I have said to you? When she called, do you think I should have just declined. We can’t leave her alone at times like this. We just can’t do this to her.
Melike: Of course we can’t. She’s almost our family now. So, we need to be close.
Demet: We’re here Mom. This is where Uncle Omer told us to go.
They look across the street at Elif’s home.
Melike: Wow. This is a beautiful place. So, they really must be very wealthy.
Elvan: Come on, girls, walk.
Melike: It’s amazing.
They ring the bell, and the door guard answers. Elvan says they are Miss Elif’s guests. He looks skeptical. Elvan continues: This is where she lives, isn’t it? The guard asks what their business is with her.
Melike: What is this, an interrogation?
Elvan: Son, we are the family of Mr. Omer and we were invited by Elif, so can you tell me, then, are they here?
Guard still looks annoyed. He gives a welcome, and they start up the stairs. He points to the elevator.
Elvan: Thank you, son.
Melike says to Elvan, he almost didn’t let us in. How disrespectful is that? These guys are too snobby. Our dear Elif is out family, but her servants are disrespectful to us. It doesn’t make any sense. It can’t be both ways. Elvan tries to calm her. Demet is in a dreamy state, taking in all the opulence.

Bahar is in charge, has everything perfectly organized. She tells Elif to stop looking at her phone all the time.
Elif goes out into the garden. Nilufer is talking to Metin. Elif asks who called, in a stem voice, as they are trying to keep her isolated.
Nilufer: No one, Elif.
Elif: Don’t speak to me like that.
Nilufer: Stop interfering.
Elif: Can we please not fight today?
Nilufer: Am I the one creating tension?
They glower at each other.
Hulya comes to Elif: Miss Elif, Elvan and family are here.
Elvan, Melike, and Demet, kiss and give condolences to Elif.
Elif: The prayers will start in a minute, so please, make yourself comfortable.
They see the table being set with lovely china and crystal.
Alvan: Are you making halva? (Semolina halva is traditionally served at funerals, and there is an expression that “roasting halva for someone” is for someone who has passed away, according to Mr. Wiki.)
Elif says it’s being done. Elvan says, she should be the one to do it.
Elvan: Well, whatever, that’s ok, too. I supposed if you choose it, this will be ok.
Elif: It needs to be perfect. Please just tell me what’s needed because everything she used to do was perfect. If you think it’s the right thing to do, I’ll do what you say with the halva.
Elvan smiles: You should prepare it.
Elif: I’ve never done it before, I don’t know what to do.
Elvan: We’ll help you, come on girls to the kitchen.
Melike and Demet are still overwhelmed with all the china, silver, etc.
Bahar walks by with a sarcastic look. She complained to Nilufer, Isn’t this too much? What do you think?
Nilufer: I haven’t been interested in Elif for a long time. (IIRC, Fatih has been bad-mouthing Elif to Nilufer to separate the formerly close sisters.) I recommend the same to you. They look at Demet, dressed casually in inexpensive clothing, “Just take a look at her.”
In the kitchen, Elvan takes charge, puts food in pot, smiles, and stirs. Now you start stirring, Elif.
Elvan: While you’re doing it, you pray for your mother’s soul.
This is calming for Elif, as she stirs, while crying and praying. Elvan looks at her with love.
Elvan: Be sure and tell us if there’s anything else you need, ok? Have you eaten?
Elif: I just don’t have an appetite.
Elvan: You need something hot, I’ll cook biryani, that’ll be the best thing, to warm you. Do you enjoy it because you know there are people who don’t like it at all.
Elif: Please don’t worry about me.
Elvan: You should listen to your elders. Prepare that and we’ll prepare bread with Melike.
Calls to Melike, please give me a hand.
Melike, so typically: Why?
Elvan glares at Melike. Then Melike agrees we will do what they want.
Elif is still stirring.
Hulya tells Elif some friends have arrived. Elvan tells her they will handle it.
Elif: Thank you so much.
Melike is opening doors, etc.: Mom, look at these beautiful things. I’ve only seen things like this on tv!
Elvan: This is a funeral house, not a tv!
In the living room, the prayers are being said by the women, Elif, head covered, can’t stay and runs upstairs. Elvan sees and follows her.

Omer is in his car and calls a Komisar. My name is Omer Demir. I’m a detective at the homicide bureau. Sir, I need to meet up with you at the earliest opportunity to speak about the money laundering gang. Can we meet?
The Komisar gives him a time and place.
Back at the house, Elif is in Zerrin’s room, touching her things and sensing the aroma of her mother: I’m sorry I made you sad, Mom.
Elvan enters.
Elif: Aunt Elvan, why do all the people that I love leave me? Am I a bad person? What have I done to deserve this?
Elvan sits next to her.
Elif: I just don’t understand. I can’t go through any more, my heart is breaking.
Elvan: My dear girl, my grandmother always used to say: No one grows up until they have lost someone that they love.
Elif: But, I don’t want to grow up, and I don’t want to have to go through this.
Elvan: Oh, you’re right, but Allah doesn’t give us uncarryable burdens. Just be patient, my dear, just be patient. Everything will be all right in the end.
Elif: I can’t be patient. This happens all the time.
Elvan: It will all be OK. It’ll all be OK. You’ll see. Come.
Elif cries into her lap while she gives her support with her loving arms, kissing her head.
Demet is upstairs, goes into a room, probably Elif’s. Looks at things, takes a class animal and some earrings and puts into her purse, after trying on earrings while looking in mirror.
Melike goes upstairs, saying this is more like a castle than a house.
She sees Demet leave Elif’s room,
Melike: What are you doing here?
Demet: I’m just looking.
Melike: You can’t enter someone’s room without permission. I taught you that, didn’t I?
Demet: Mom, Calm down, I was just looking.
Melike wants to leave, Demet wants to see more.
Elvan comes out, saying: Open the door, so we can hear your gossip more clearly. [This made me laugh out loud!]
Melike: We weren’t gossiping! You didn’t hear us.
Elvan: No need to hear, I know what you were talking about, I know.
Elif escorts them out: Thank you for coming and for your help (to Elvan). Come to us anytime. We can all sit in the garden, drink tea, and we can talk.
Elvan: Omer will be happy with that.
Elif: Of course I will come.
Demet on phone with Omer: We’re almost there, Uncle.
Melike: Omer is coming to pick us up; he’s never late.
Elif: Tell him “hi.’
Melike: We will.
Elvan: Thanks my girls, let’s go home. They go downstairs. Elif looks over the balcony. Omer is looking up, but not at the same time.
Omer: How are they?
Elvan: Not good. I wish you could take a look.
Omer: A little too late now. I’ll go back later.
Elvan: All right, then.
Elif looks down, hoping he will look up. He knows, but he still has his frowny face, and gets into car without looking. She watches him drive off. Elif is very alone and sad.
That's it! Sorry for the delay! In changing computers, I also had to reacquaint myself with a MacBook to get this done!

Thanks, Babachita! This was another eventful episode! We are really turning up the heat, and I like it! I don't fully get my Omer is so upset with Elif - I mean should you launder money, no, of course not, but he's acting like she's been doing it for 5 years instead of an isolated instance with her sister's life on the line! A lot of people do horrible things under duress that's why there's a legal term for it! I'm team Belin on this one, but also Arda has a point, they should probably do something about that confession - you know like use her as a witness in my opinion, but something!
Like Demet is a thief too! Omer is surrounded by criminals and just doesn't know it, lol Isn't it ironic?
I'm going to post 40 shortly, before I leave to go watch the Chief's game with friends.
Correction... I am not going to be able to post 40. I just went to my Word doc and it's GONE!!!! I wrote it last night, but my computer restarted this morning, and it didn't save....boo!!!!
I will have to rewrite later, hopefully I will be able to do it tonight after the game, but it might be tomorrow. I apologize!
We have been invaded by gremlins, Darcy! I had a bunch of computer issues today as well!
Whenever you can do it, no matter how short, it will suffice! Technically, you have all week as it’s the last one! You can even put it on the new page that’s posted tomorrow.
Hope the Chiefs had a good game!

Regarding Demet, I wonder if she’s suffering from kleptomania. Perhaps she is stressed about her odd parents and their very odd relationship and acting out.
Babachita
Thank you, Kat! We’re having a hard few days, but we’re glad she’s at peace. I like the idea of her meeting and playing with her predecessors! Dogs that love to play!!!

Update - I ended up staying out later than I expected tonight because a friend of mine who I hadn't seen in quite a while was there and we stayed chatting, so I just got home.
I will have to rewrite the recap tomorrow and it won't be until the evening since I won't have time until after work. But as Babachita pointed out it is the last episode until next weekend so plenty of time! Still, I plan to have it posted tomorrow evening.
