PAPAS RECAPPING

Although I’m enjoying this, the truth is that I’m unable to follow some of the major plotlines (Melina/Hernan/Chacal, Prisma/Nazario and Bill/Paulina in particular). Also, many of the character’s “simple” discussions elude me. Truthfully, trying to figure out what might or might not have happened is just frankly exhausting.

At this point, it’s become too difficult to continue to do two nightly summaries. While I will still post comments on Papas, I will no longer be able to post summaries. I hope we will still be able to discuss Papas. Liz and Susan, I especially appreciate your support and encouragement; your kind words and insights have meant a great deal.

I am going to continue to post notes for Monteverde as I seem to have a better understanding of what is transpiring there. Jarifa’s “extras” have of course been amazing and instrumental in recording what actually occurred rather than relying on my perception or guess! 😊

PAPAS #20

I enjoyed the beautiful candlelit memorial for Tino’s mother Bertha; Gisela, standing on the fringes, clearly the outsider. Circe, the prodigal daughter returned home for the ceremony; everyone was happy to see her.

Too bad Chacal managed to escape. “The jackal” Chacal later threatened Hernan, roughing him up.

So disappointed not so adorable Chuchito pretended to disappear hiding under the bed laughing as a distraught Serena searched for him, Chano calling the police. It was fitting a scorpion scared the hell out of him, his screams giving him away. I was surprised he showed no remorse, crying Serena isn’t his mother. Serena seems done. Later, Chuchito sees his father talking to his mother’s picture in tears and starts crying too. (I keep thinking Lichita is alive. We shall see).

Chano and Chuchito pay Serena a visit; Chuchito is suitably repentant. The two hug and as Chano joins them, I smile along with them.

I don’t know why Nazario shows the children Silvana’s picture. But it seems Rudolf figures out that Prisma is the brain behind Nazario’s work. Liz, you were exactly right!

In the last scene, Chacal interrupts the memorial service pushing Hernan in front of him, gun pointed at his head. Dread spreads through the group except for Melina who seems annoyed, certainly not frightened.

MONTEVERDE #12 Part 1

Adorable Moises tells Mother Superior his father doesn’t like nuns. 😊Mother Superior is dialing the phone when who should appear out of the blue but Carolina!! Mother Superior is impactada (as are we!) The Mother naturally assumes it is Sister Celeste and asks her what she is doing there.

The mother immediately tells Carolina I thought you were sick.

Rosalie leaves Oscar and Lucas’ scowling, muttering to herself.

The mother wonders how Sister Celeste got there so fast. All of a sudden, Oscar shows up and introduces himself. He starts talking about Sister Celeste and of course the mother said the sister just arrived. Carolina makes the “cuckoo” sign behind the mothers back and I laughed out loud at Oscar’s confused expression. The women leave with Oscar staring after them.

The padre has a talk with Juan David and Angelina.

Juanita greets the mother who tells her Sister Celeste is here as the women gossip in the background, playing along and welcoming Sister Celeste.

It’s hot dogs for Oscar and Moises. They agree to secrecy, doing the John Candy Uncle Buck zipper mouth. And perfectly too!

Gloria wants all the details from Angelina. She gives her a piece of jewelry that was her mother’s as she pats her daughter’s hair. She glows about Angelina’s engagement and holds her head.

Julieta, Franco and Lucas sit down to eat and she talks about Italy. Later, she has on a sexy top as the men act like they’ve never seen a woman before. Deep sigh. Julieta looks thoughtful, fully knowing her affect.

Angelina asks Carolina what happened as Doris arrives, saying the mother wishes to see her.

Gloria, the good padre and the happy couple have dinner. I couldn’t follow the conversation, Father Gabriel seems to offer something. Gloria gets a bit teary eyed and mentions Juan David comes from a wealthy family…

Oscar asks Moises what is going on with Andres. Moises tells him the truth saying Andres says Oscar is in love with Sister Celeste! Oscar is impactada. Muy mal is Oscar’s comment. Moises teases him as Oscar frowns.

Carolina and Sister Celeste strategize.

The boys’ lessons continue.

MONTEVERDE #12 Part 2

Franco and Julieta are sitting quite cozily on a bench as Lucas and Hugo can’t help but notice. They are walking the property when she get a call she doesn’t answer. She complains about neck pain so Franco recommends she see Rosalia, who is a doctor! She goes and the women snipe a bit before Rosalia gives her a prescription although she doesn’t even examine her!

“Am I bothering you” Oscar asks Carolina. Oscar tells her that Moises told him he (Oscar) is in love with her! She smiles, saying she already knows. After a quick look of shock flashes across his face, all of a sudden, he reaches out his hand, his fingertips gently touching hers. It is impossible he asks questioningly. “Si” she answers uncertainly. There is such electricity in the air I have no doubt a power outage is a distinct possibility! Carolina quickly turns the conversation back to the Mother Superior. More is exchanged as their magnetic chemistry sparks…

“I love you” Angelina tells Juan David as they kiss tenderly.

Oscar seems grateful for all Carolina has done for Moises. He gulps and leaves as she rolls her eyes, likely wishing things were different.

Juanita is confronted by the Mother, holding some sort of schedule in her hand saying something about Sister Celeste. Juanita tries to talk her way out of it, ripping up the schedule and leaving as the Mother shakes her head.

Oscar calls Andres over and confronts him about thinking he is in love with Sister Celeste. He tells the boy he cares about and respects her. Are you sure Andres queries? You don’t love her? No, it’s impossible Oscar says. Amigos? Yes is the answer and Andres leaves as Oscar wishfully stares.

Gloria seems to be taking control of the wedding much to Angelina and Juan David’s chagrin.

At the convent, Sister Celeste takes her suitcase and leaves.

Mother Superior picks up a rosary from the floor.

Carolina frets to Father Gabriel who crosses himself as they are in church. I’m unable to ascertain as to what she asks him to do. She thanks him and then genuflects with a thumbs up.

Oscar is lost in thought as Moises questions him. Claro Oscar says, jumping up from the table.

Sister Celeste meets with the lawyer saying her sister is innocent…The lawyer says things will be difficult and mentions money. I believe the lawyer says the important thing is her sister.

The mother leads the women in prayer, berating Sister Celeste when she arrives. She admonishes the women to continue to pray and takes Sister Celeste away, showing her the rosary. I can’t follow her tirade. Then, Oscar arrives unexpectedly saying he has a surprise! Carolina is apoplectic! Oscar says to trust him and takes the Mother out of the room as Carolina rolls her eyes heavenward…And then and there, we end! Oh dear, what on earth is Oscar doing??

I wish I had understood more of the dialogue, but alas…Kindly fill in what I missed and correct what I’ve gotten wrong. I am so appreciative of your sure to be marvelous comments.

MONTEVERDE #12 Extras parte 1

Carolina tells Mother Superior that she took an antibiotic, her fever came down and then she took a plane so Mother Superior didn't have to be alone. Mother Superior wants to know what she is doing at that house. Carolina explains that the owner of the house recognized her at the airport and offered her a lift. When she tells Mother Superior that the owner is Oscar León Mother Superior doesn't understand. Carolina told her that Oscar was ill-mannered and bad tempered and he didn't agree with bringing women to the town. Carolina insists that he has really changed.

Franco criticizes Lucas for giving Rosalía a taste of her own medicine. Lucas looks like he is having second thoughts about what he did.

Carolina makes the cuckoo sign to Oscar when Mother Superior expresses her gratitude for bringing Carolina from the airport. Oscar plays along saying it was his pleasure.

The good father, Angelina and Juan David are celebrating their engagement with tequila. Since Juan David is his nephew, the good father wants to celebrate the new family they are creating at a supper that evening with Gloria.

Moisés isn't happy that the nun had to leave and he knows his father wanted her to stay.

Gloria gives her daughter the pin that her father gave her the day she got engaged to her father. Gloria ruins the moment telling Angelina that she thought she would never get married because she looks so much like her paternal grandmother. (doesn't seem to be a good thing) She adds that the Lord taketh and the Lord giveth so he put Juan David in her path. As they say: there's a lid for every pot! Gloria wishes her the same happiness she had with her father.

At supper, Gloria asks where are Angelina and Juan David going to live. The young couple haven't thought about that. The good father solves the problem by giving them a house he owns. Gloria wants to know if it has enough room for the THREE of them. Gloria starts to guilt trip her daughter asking if she is gong to abandon her. Angelina insists that it is best that she and Juan David live alone. The good father agrees. Gloria moves on to the wedding plans. She is planning on 200 guests. Angelina asks where is the money to pay for it going to come from. Gloria says from Juan David who has more than enough money so they can do what they want. Gloria has plans for a honey moon in Europe for the THREE of them. The good father reminds her that a honeymoon is for the couple not for the family. Gloria has left the best for last. She wants to meet Juan David's parents!!! The good father gulps down a glass of wine.

Mother Superior tells Carolina that she has noticed that everyone is treating her as if she were crazy. She says it is one thing being old but completely another being out of her mind. Carolina says she will pay attention to what is going on.

The good father says that will not be possible because . . . Juan David interrupts saying he is an orphan. Gloria is so sorry to hear that. Gloria asks who has the money then. Juan David says it is his grandparents. The good priest says that he will ask for Angelina's hand. That is not good enough for Gloria . The good father says they can talk about it later as they can talk about the wedding and the honeymoon . . . They all toast to the new family and lots of kids!!

Carolina tells Celeste she has to return to the convent with Mother Superior. Celeste will go stay with a family member.

Angelina and Juan David go to see their new house.

Carolina tells Oscar that when Mother Superior leaves, she will have to go with her. Oscar is upset. He wants to talk to Mother Superior about her educating his son. She asks him not to because it will only cause her more problems. He says she has brought life back to Monteverde.

Mother Superior asks Juanita why does Celeste's number appear on the chore schedule when she has never lived there. Juanita says that list is from when they just arrived. At this moment, Carolina is helping out at the clinic.

MONTEVERDE Extras parte 2

Final blow: Andrés, as he runs to class, tells Oscar that the nun would never be interested in him anyway leaving Oscar wondering about what he just heard.

Celeste tells her fellow nun she is going to Monteverde to be with Mother Superior.

Julieta visits Rosalía because she slept funny and has a pain in her neck. Rosalía asks if she was cramped where she was sleeping. Julia makes it clear that she didn't sleep with either of the men. She ended up sleeping in an arm chair. Julieta knows she is jealous and wants to make it clear that she is interested in Franco not Lucas. Rosalía laughs. Julieta doesn't want problems with anybody.

Carolina brings the good father up to date. Mother Superior discovered that she was here at Oscar's. The good father says she cannot give classes to Moisés anymore. She is not a teacher. She says she is preparing her classes and Moisés is learning how to read and write. He is worried about the state teacher regulations. Carolina says no worries because everyone thinks she is Sister Celeste. He agrees. She remembers to make the sign of the cross.

Mother Superior says things are not adding up with "Sister Celeste's" time line of when she came and left Monteverde. She gives Carolina the rosary she found. Carolina thanks her for it. Mother Superior has the feeling that she never left Monteverde at all. Carolina says that is impossible. She herself saw her at the convent. Mother Superior says there is something strange going on and she is going to find out what it is.

The lawyer says they first have to find the money that was stolen. That is the only way to prove that Carolina's husband committed fraud and it isn't easy because usually criminals transfer the money out of the country so it cannot be traced. Celeste says that she and her sister have no money now but are selling their house to be able to pay her and the investigator that will have to be hired.

hilos

Wow! Carolina went from hating Cristina to loving her in one episode!

Baby is still in peril, IMO, from Tamara. Cristina accepted Alonso’s proposal and ring. The most interesting scene, or part of a scene, was at the end when Father S was closing in on a non-pastoral kiss with Carolina. We didn’t actually see it. Tonight we should find out what happened.

I think Marisol will expose Leonardo soon. She’s no dummy! Two weeks or less. After the fast turnaround by Carolina, everything should wrap up nicely.

I like the song; it plays in my head sometimes.

Babachita

MONTEVERDE

Jarifa, thank you for your sharp observations and for filling in all the blanks, beautifully.

"Mother Superior tells Carolina that she has noticed that everyone is treating her as if she were crazy. She says it is one thing being old but completely another being out of her mind." had me smiling away!

Gloria is completely out of control! 200 wedding guests, tagging along on the honeymoon and living with the couple?? She needs to come down to earth. Quickly. Juan David doesn't have any money does he (or am I wrong?) If not, he'd best come clean.

Poor Father Gabriel is in the middle of all this muck. Lies (mostly white ones) and deceit are not sitting well with this good, very understanding and patient padre!

Interesting that Mother Superior never knew Sister Celeste had a twin. If she had, the jig would have been up long ago. She is on the right track sensing something is fishy and I suspect she will be a dog with a bone until she figures the "secret" out.

So, Moises doesn't want Carolina to leave because Oscar will be sad but "Final blow: Andrés, as he runs to class, tells Oscar that the nun would never be interested in him anyway." One in favor - one opposed.

I'm so enjoying Carolina and Oscar's connection. I sense she is going to tell him soon.

Jarifa, thank you for all your time and effort in creating this marvelous summary.

Papas

Diana, I’ll try to take notes and post the next day. I’m afraid I’m not a writer, and they’ll be brief. I don’t pay too much attention to the things I’m not interested, like the family of C names. I have to look at my character list to comment on them! Last night I kept dozing off, so don’t have much to add. I was surprised Valerio was meeting friends and wasn’t going to go to Circe’s grandmother’s service. That seemed callous of him. And they really need to fire Nazario, it seems to me he just wants to bring chaos to everyone. Rodolfo should throw them out of the house but I know they want to be close to their daughter. I think Nazario is only interested in Pipe’s inheritance. They never had any connection with him at birth. I think they knew Serena had twins but don’t remember if they ever had him for any length of time.

Liz

PAPAS

Liz, anything you wish to post will of course be greatly appreciated. But there's no pressure, we can discuss whatever we want to! :)

Yes, "Nazario is only interested in Pipe's inheritance". I don't think Prisma is quite as unfeeling but...You understand their dynamics far better than I!

Valerio is so self centered. No wonder he hasn't been embraced by Circe's family. Speaking of, I think we get to see his father soon.

So, I actually like Checo and his family so my comments will likely include them as I seem to usually be able to follow what's happening, so that will work out well.

Diana

MONTEVERDE

Diana, no we don’t know if Juan David has any money. It seems like he doesn’t but on the other hand I think the good father has money. He had a vacant house he was willing to give away to the young couole. Some Catholc priests, depending on their function/order never have had to take a vow of poverty like Catholic nuns always do. I am thinking that the good father might be one of those. I have probably said it before, but the good father might be my favorite character in all this.

I liked that Julieta told Rosalía who she was interested in.

So how many episodes until Celeste ends up back in the convent and Carolina in Monteverde and how are they going to accomplish that or will they go somewhere unexpected? Looking forward to the next episode.

MONTEVERDE

Jarifa, thank you for noting we're not sure if Juan David has money. From the way he is acting, I'd say no but who knows? :)

You're exactly right in that the good padre seems to have money and is unfailingly generous. I don't believe you've said he is your favorite before, but he is a great character. Besides being fierce, loyal and devoted (with a heart of gold), he's human. Not perfect, but pretty close.

Mother Superior is pretty sharp and I don't see how long the ruse is going escape her notice. I have no idea where this is going, but I'm enjoying the ride!

Diana

Hilos

I was surprised that Christina’s parentage came to light so simply. I can’t believe Ramiro and Father S just met outside Christina’s apartment. I was thinking Ramiro would want to take the baby from Christina, just to hurt any descendants of Carolina. And how quickly. Carolina’s hate turned to love. I don’t think Christina’s feelings will be that easily changed.

Carlos wants to see his baby. He doesn’t seem to believe Christina when she tells him Tamara pushed her down the stairs. Tamara would happily kill the baby. Which I’m afraid she’s going to attempt. Carlos and his mom need to realize that girl is scary crazy.

Why hasn’t anyone told Manuel he’s a grandfather!

Liz

MONTEVERDE #13 Part 1

Oscar and Mother Superior leave, Oscar smiling at Carolina who raises her eyes heavenward. They drive to their destination where he announces the surprise – a building that I believe he is donating to be a school run by Sister Celeste.

Back home, the girls play cards which they hide when they hear someone coming …but it’s only Doris. She bears a box and hallelujah; it’s the long-awaited parts to fix the bus. Doris smiles with relief…

Mother Superior says something to which Carolina gives Oscar the cuckoo sign. The mother seems to relent on whatever hesitation she had as Carolina beams.

Julieta comes across Franco’s home as a child. He arrives and looks with trepidation. He tells her it was his house as a child. He tells her his mother left…is she dead Julieta queries? No. She boldly opens the door and they walk in. The furniture is covered with sheets; one reveals a leather couch. Another is removed to show a table set with a pitcher, glassware and plates. There are photos as well. Franco looks around and takes sheet off a table where a photo of him and his mother sits (who is quite beautiful). He shows Julieta and she puts a consoling hand on his shoulder.

Lucas arrives at Rosalia’s clinic. He is scowling asking about Joaquin. Then, he hands her the results of Nestor’s DNA test. She opens it and stares.

The Mother wants photos.

Rosalia tells Lucas it’s private/delicate. She looks as though she is in shock and it quickly becomes apparent what the test results are. He tells her to calm down and hugs her.

Wedding talk now turns to liquor: champagne, tequila. Finally, to music. Wedding planner Gloria gets out a calculator and after some quick addition, comes up with a figure that makes Juan David faint dead away. Gloria throws cold water on him much to Angelina’s consternation. Angelina has had enough and tells her mother to leave. Juan David “comes to” and is apoplectic over the amount.

Lucas takes an emotional Rosalie to see Nestor; she tells him she wants to talk to Nestor alone.

Sister Celeste arrives at Regina’s (?) who greets her warmly and inquires about Carolina.

Carolina is taking her picture as Oscar strides toward her. He removes his hat and moves quickly toward her. He leans in to kiss her but just as it appears she will acquiesce, she says no and moves away as he stares longingly.

Carolina goes to see Juanita and asks for a shot of tequila murmuring Oscar is marvelous. Juanita squeals with delight for her friend. Carolina needs another shot! Oh no, it’s still not enough!! She then asks for a third. With a quick look over her shoulder, she downs it and sort of smiles.

Diana

MONTEVERDE #13 Part 2

Lucas leaves Rosalia at Nestor’s. Outside, she practices telling him the big news and then grimaces. She knocks on the door and he lets her in. He is eating and is as brusque as ever. He does ask her to sit down but she declines. When he brings up her father she says it is you. He stares hard and denies it. She hands him her DNA test. It’s impossible he barks. Leave me alone he demands as he stands. “Leave” he spits out pointing to the door.

Angelina tries to talk to her mother about the escalating out of control wedding expenses.

How did it go Lucas asks Rosalia. She answers, “Mal”, telling him Nestor asked her to leave. She is tearful but Lucas is sweet and supportive embracing her with a hug.

Back in his bedroom, Oscar sits on his bed reliving Carolina’s rejection and his growing feelings for her. He flops back on the bed, a man clearly besotted. Carolina has the same thoughts and sweetly mimics falling back on the bed, bothered and bewitched.

A man from Oscar’s comes in and introduces himself to Doris. He is obviously quite smitten. He asks to talk to Mother Superior. He shows her a picture on his phone which we do not see. “It’s impossible” she says in shock and leaves after thanking him.

The next day, Rosalia goes to work and Nestor is waiting for her. I can only surmise he is still in denial as Rosalia tells him “it’s not true”. He takes his hat and leaves. She tries to maintain a stiff upper lip.

All of a sudden, the Mother Superior is packing, (is it something that happened back at home?) The madre prayers.

Oscar fills the good Father in on the plans. “Thank you Oscar” Father Gabriel says, very happy and excited. He has an idea for a name but Mother Superior has already decided on another. Oscar presents the new director – Sister Celeste! The father smiles (sort of). After Oscar leaves, the Father turns to Carolina and asks for an explanation. Carolina can’t hide her happiness. They leave to talk to the Mother Superior.

Franco asks Julieta where Lucas is. She shows him the pictures she’s taken. She comments he seems sad and asks if it is because of his mother. She goes up to him and kisses him. He looks surprised and then returns her kiss. Then, he pushes her away, mentioning Lucia. What is the problem she says. He smiles but beats a hasty retreat as she sports a very self-satisfied look.

Mother Superior prepares to depart; the women wish her well.

Gloria asks Juan David if he loves her daughter. Of course. I couldn’t follow the rest except she says something at the end about him being a millionaire.

The Mother takes her leave of Oscar and Carolina at the bus stop. He puts out his arm to Carolina and she takes it smiling as they leave.

Rosalia and Lucas walk outside; she dissolves in tears, her heart breaking and he hugs her.

Oscar brings Carolina to an idyllic spot by the river, gently telling her how special she is. She tries to interrupt but he stops her. He takes her hand in his and kisses it as she stares at him wide eyed.

The exact reason the Mother Superior decided to leave eluded me. There are other things I missed and/or got wrong but I tried my best. Jarifa, I look forward to your sure to be superb notes that will clarify any waters I might have muddied.

MONTEVERDE

Looks like a good episode! I have yet to see it. Will watch later today.

Papas

El Charcal brings Hernán to the family remembrance service at gunpoint. He wants what’s his and won’t hurt them. The youngest of Chano’s runs in and Charcal looks at him distracted. Tino fights him for the gun, it goes off. Gisela is shot in the foot. El Charcal went out the window but left blood on the window sill. Checo is sitting on the floor. Circe runs to him and is hugging him. He’s remembering another shot. Circe wants him to tell his dad about the night his mother died. At the hospital Gisela will need surgery and PT.

Back at home Melina is upset. She needs a hug from Tino. She remembers why she said her life was in danger when she came out of her coma and doesn’t want Tino to leave her alone.

Charcal is hurt and falls down. A car pulls up and someone picks him up.

Nazario tells the kids their mom was bad. Silvana only wanted one of them. She was the reason they were separated. But we see Prisma, Nazario and Silvana as Prisma is having an ultra sound. There are twins and Nazario is telling Silvana it will cost her more money for two. At one point he tells Prisma they need to make one of Pipe’s parents look bad so they can get custody of Pipe.

Tino wonders to Melina if she knew el Charcal in the past. She says no, then that maybe they say each other in the casino. Later he asks his dad the same thing and gets a denial.

Scarlett wonders, to her mom, why Bill spends time with Emi. And later Paulina is putting the moves on Bill when Aide calls. He wants to tell Emi that he’s his dad. Aide says it will happen when they’re ready.

Gisela talks in her sleep at the hospital. I didn’t catch what she said about Aide but she also said she didn’t want to go back to her home as she’s lonely there. She wakes up and Aide says she can stay with them and she and she’ll help her.

Volaría is mad when he realizes Checo was at the family gathering. They talk about how they were teens when they dated. Later his father calls. He’s in town and they meet for dinner. He thinks Circe is a friend or novia and is furious when he finds out she’s his wife.

The police come to the house and tell Tino there were two pistols shot when El Charcal was shot. I’m guessing Melina had the other gun!

Hernan wants to sell the jewels and leave. Melina says no. She then peeks through a crack in Tino’s door and watches him undress. She later catches Hernan going to where they hid the jewels but she has moved them!

Lila sends Paulina a note telling her to leave her alone, she doesn’t want anything to do with her.

Liz

PAPAS

Liz, thank you for the excellent recap.

I especially appreciated the way you described the melee! I couldn't believe Gisela (unbelievably) inserted herself between Tino and Hernan, also wrestling for the gun.

"Tino wonders to Melina if she knew el Charcal in the past. She says no, then that maybe they say each other in the casino. Later he asks his dad the same thing and gets a denial". Tino is pretty sharp, good for him.

Not surprised at Nazario's deception! Pure scum...

I didn't see the scene with Valerio and his father or the last two scenes you noted so am so glad you detailed them.

Your wondering if Melina shot the other gun was very astute.

The gun Checo recalls is very menacing; I really want to know what happened that traumatized him.

Aide has a good heart forgiving her mother who rejected her so cruelly years ago.

Thank you for your sharp observations

Diana

Papas

Thanks Diana, I’ll try to keep up. I’ll be away for Thanksgiving and won’t be watching any telenovelas. When I recapped Juana last year it took me three hours daily as I would stop and replay and get everything down. I was so tired as I was staying up late. This time I’m planning to just take notes quickly and type out the next morning. No replaying! So I won’t get everything, but hopefully will get the important things down. I know you do your recaps while watching the show without pausing and I never knew how you did it. Maybe I’ll give typing while watching a try one of these days. Any advice on how you did it would be appreciated!

Liz

"HILOS"
Liz: I 100 percent agree with you: Tamara is going to kill the baby if given the chance. She is a LOOSE CANNON & crazy.

Carolina's so-called change of heart means NOTHING to me: after all of the damn evil plots she cooked up in destroying Cristina's life.

Carlos & Co., need to do something FAST in protecting Cristina & the baby ASAP.

Whatever happened to Maria Luisa ?

Hilos

Steve, it was strange how she went from hating Christina for being a horrible person to loving her. But at least she thought back to how badly she had treated her. The problem is Christina also knows how cruelly Carolina treated her too!

I don’t count on Carlos for anything. He’s too wishy-washy. Alonzo would be the one to do any saving. He’s a much better man than whiny Carlos, who would have had Christina and his baby if he’d cut his ties with crazy Tamara.

I don’t remember who Maria Luisa was. If it was Father Salvador’s mother, she died shortly after he found out he had a daughter. So she died alone and he felt guilty.

Liz

PAPAS

Liz, your recaps have always been great, you are so insightful and perceptive.

What you did last night was perfect. You certainly answered my questions.

Everyone is entitled to enjoy the holidays! I have family coming on Thanksgiving for a very brief stay so my Thursday and Friday Monteverde recaps will go up later in the weekend. Once I get through them, I will try and watch Papas and perhaps I can add some highlights.

Because I don't have a DVR I don't have the luxury of rewatching so I have to try and capture as I go. Because my Spanish comprehension is low, I try to focus on facial expressions and actions, hoping I can get the gist of what is transpiring. Sometimes I manage to get some of it right, other times, I misconstrue and others, I just come up empty! That is why comments from those who watch are so important; it allows everything to be coherent.

You might try typing as you go a try. Please don't put any pressure on yourself. What you do is great and appreciated...

Diana

Papas

Thanks Diana. I never understood how you could cover so much of the events during the duration of the show. I have to look down to type on my iPad, but I also have to look down to write, so I may try the typing! I think only one show is on next Thursday, Thanksgiving Day. I just don’t remember which one!

Liz

Papas
Liz, thank you so much . You did a great job.
Diana, you have always been so generous with your time , and I have always looked forward to and been grateful for your recaps .
The holidays are busy times. I have already started to decorate for Christmas
P.s. can't wait for Domenica with Angelique Boyer and Scarlet Gruber . So many familiar faces !!!.

MONTEVERDE #13 Extras parte 1

Thanks, Diana. : )

Oscar is offering to remodel the old school that used to be operational until there were no women and then no new children in town. He believes the school, when restored, can serve their town as well as neighboring towns that have no schools of their own. He wants to name the school in honor of Mother Superior the "Sor (religious sister) Gustava Río Seco School." It is only right because of all she has done for Monteverde like bringing the women to their town. Mother Superior is flattered. He thinks that Sister "Celeste" aka Carolina should be the principal. Mother Superior isn't too sure about that since he only met Sister Celeste yesterday. That is the reason for the cuckoo sign. He "corrects" himself saying that he has been so preoccupied with the project over the years and finding that Sister Celeste shares the same interest as he does for education he thought she would be perfect to develop the school. Mother Superior finally gives in and will put them in touch with the state education officials. Mother Superior tells Oscar how impressed she is with him, he is a real . . . Carolina says angel. Both Oscar and Mother Superior are surprised.

Eva painted all of the pictures in the abandoned house, too.

Mother Superior cannot get over the school being named after her! She hopes that Sister Carolina fulfills her duties to develop and manage the school as she should. Carolina tells her that she can count on that. Mother Superior asks her to take some photos of the school so she can send them to her superiors.
Mother Superior was originally planning on staying for only a few days but now with the school, she is thinking of staying a few month to supervise! She adds that Carolina better get used to the idea that she is going to be living in Monteverde. Carolina smiles.

Rosalía has shown Lucas the results but not us. What to do? Lucas says she has to go talk to him. As his grandmother says, you always need to be up front with difficult things. She doesn't think she can tell him. He says of course she can because she is a strong woman. She gets very nervous and Lucas tells her to calm down. He is there with her. She should smile. She got what she was looking for.

Juan David tells Gloria she doesn't have to worry about music. His uncle plays the accordion and he know some guys from a neighboring town tha have a very good band. Gloria says no they can being in a DJ from Mexico City since money isn't a problem, right Juan David????

MONTEVERDE parte 2

Rosalía decides to go see Néstor alone at his home that very evening.

Upon regaining consciousness, Juan David tells Angelina that he doesn't have that kind of money to please her mother. (So he doesn't have money as we suspected) Angelina says she will take care of her mother.

Sister Celeste goes to stay with her Aunt Regina. She lies and tells her they are painting her room at the convent so she decided to come stay with her instead.
Her aunt says she is always welcome.

Oscar is only happy that he found a way of keeping Carolina in Monteverde.

When Carolina tells her mother she wants to do her own wedding planning for a much smaller wedding, Gloria accuses her of pushing her to the side after she agreed to come with her to this town in the middle of nowhere. Now that she has her millionaire, she wants nothing to do with her. Angelina answers that the only reason Juan David is important to her is because of money. She ants to be with Juan David because of who he is not because of what he has.

The man from Oscar's ranch is Cárcamo Fonseca. Cárcamo has a message that has been received at Oscar's for Mother Suerior. He shows it to her.

Néstor apologizes to Rosalía for his behavior the night before. Rosalía understands because it is hard to accept that kind of information. He tells her that he decided not to have a family years ago after having considered it.
Being a father was never a priority to him. He never looked to be one and this is situation with her no exception. He knows it is going to sound terrible but she is to expect nothing from him. NOTHING. What does he have to offer her anyway? She says she wasn't asking for anything and she only wanted to meet him. He answers now she has met him, knows who he is and that he is a man who is not interested in being a father. She ash lived her whole with without a father. They have no kind of relationship. No matter what a DNA test says, they are nothing to each other. She disagrees and tells him like it or not she is his daughter. He asks if he is supposed to hug her? He feels nothing for her. He would have rather never found this out. He leaves.

Mother Superior is leaving because Mother Superior Rosario had a stroke so she has to go immediately to San Antonio. She is going to Zacatillo, then to Guadalajara by bus and flying to San Antonio from there. She is not going back to the convent. She has to take care of things in San Antonio. Mother Superior wants her back at the convent. Carolina doesn't want to go with the school taking shape. Mother Superior says she can work from the convent and return to Monteverde when the school is remodeled. Carolina agrees. Carolina will get the good father drive her to Zacatillo.

MONTEVERDE parte 3

When Oscar tells the good father about naming the school after Mother Superior, the good father thinks that the name of the school is quite ugly. Oscar says he did it to keep Sister Celeste in Monteverde. He introduces Carolina as the new principal fo the school. Oscar vounteeers to drive Mother Superior with Carolina along, of course.

The good father tells Carolina that she cannot be the principal because she has not been trained. in education. Carolina agrees but her sister has. So, when the school is ready, her sister can take over. He has to agree that his dream for Monteverde is becoming a reality.

Julieta offers to help Franco forget Lucía . . .

The good father watches Oscar and Carolina with a very knowing eye as they prepare to give Mother Superior her lift to Zacatillo.

Gloria tells Juan David that her daughter is nervous feels like she doesn't deserve anything. Juan David needs to make her feel valued by giving her the wedding of her dreams!!! Their conversation must be kept a secret from Angelina. Gloria will do all of the ordering as long as he is ready to cover all of her expenses when needed. She asks if he agrees. He smiles and agrees that he does. Gloria exists saying there is nothing like dealing with a millionaire. Juan David just looks sick.

Mother Superior hopes to be able to attend the grand opening of the school.

Carolina agrees to go with Oscar to a very special place to celebrate Mother Superior's departure.

Rosalía has no hope that Néstor will ever feel anything for her. She was so hopeful. She feel like a fool.

Oscar takes Carolina to the river because it is the only place he ever saw her without "that thing on her head" and she looked beautiful. He saw a woman, not a nun. He cannot take ti anymore. He wants to hear from the woman behind the habit, not Sister Celeste. He has to tell her.He never thought it would happen after all this time. Every time he is near her, his heart speeds up. He has fallen in love with her.

MONTEVERDE

I had some extra time this afternoon so I included many of the conversations.

This novela is really moving fast. More later.

PAPAS

Susan, thank you for your kind words.

Yes, Angelique's new novela looks great but I don't think I can watch three in a row! :)

I'm almost decorated for Christmas too, the season is too short...

Diana – you have been heroic doing all that recapping! Like you, I’m confused a lot of the time. But I am enjoying the cast so I just sort of let the whole thing wash over me while I eat snacks.

I haven’t seen Friday’s episode yet, but I wanted to chime in to say I’m really enjoying this. It’s a light, cheery story and what a fantastic cast! I’m enjoying the recaps and comments. Thank you all!

MONTEVERDE

Jarifa, thank you for your wonderful recap that illuminated all of the dialog and action perfectly.

So happy you included "Mother Superior tells Oscar how impressed she is with him, he is a real . . . Carolina says angel. Both Oscar and Mother Superior are surprised". I as well!

"Juan David tells Angelina that he doesn't have that kind of money to please her mother. (So he doesn't have money as we suspected)". Yes, good to have that query answered.

"The good father watches Oscar and Carolina with a very knowing eye"...made me smile...

"He asks if he is supposed to hug her? He feels nothing for her. He would have rather never found this out. He leaves" was just brutal to watch. Is Nestor so heartless he couldn't let Rosalie down a bit more gently? Cold. Ice cold.

I'm sorry for poor Mother Rosario but at least Caroline is off the hook; for the moment. It appears Sister Celeste's stay at her aunt's might be extended a bit.

I really like the chemistry between Oscar and Carolina; genuine and unforced. Africa is a good actress. My favorite performance of hers will always be Ana in La malquerida in which she was sweeter than honey, but she plays a great villain as well.

The good and sure to be long suffering padre is the real hero here! Keeping secrets, spouting white lies, he has everyone's backs, their happiness and best interest at heart.

Jarifa, I am so enjoying the show! To be honest, I've caught myself more than once getting engrossed in a scene then remembering I am recapping! 😊

Thank you so very much.

PAPAS

Maggie "I just sort of let the whole thing wash over me while I eat snacks" was hysterical!!

I really am interested in how all of this will turn out although much of the dialogue and action escapes me. :)

Diana

MONTEVERDE

Maggie, it is good to have you on the patio...

Diana

MONTEVERDE

Yay! Maggie is on the patio, too.

Diana, I could not believe how brutal Néstor was either. Since this is a dramedy, I am hoping that is the extent of ugly behavior we have to be exposed to. Again, I found it an interesting twist. The writers keep on surprising me.

As for Africa Zavala, I had seen her in a few other productions but never really had a strong opinion about her until this one. What a comedic talent!

Will Doris really leave now that she has her alternator? Hmmmm . . .

MONTEVERDE

Jarifa, yes, the non-joyous, quite cruel father/child reunion was a shock!

"Comedic talent" is a perfect description of Africa. I was searching for the right words and you nailed it.

I sense romance for Doris and couldn't be more pleased...:)
