Lejos
Nare doesn't feel she can divorce Ozcan now. 1) Tremendous gratitude or tremendous acknowledgement of his sacrifice. 2) It's possible he has to be conscious.

Thanks, all. It's a really pleasure to be "digitally" in touch with such perceptive people. I nearly always get an "Aha!" when I read a comment about a recap I've done. Something I didn't quite grasp.

Maggie, I think Halis has been working with Ecmel for a long time. Ecmel wants to crush Cihan (or maybe his real target is Sada) and Halis was the traitor within making sure Cihan's shipments didn't arrive. That's what's in it for him...whatever he gets from Ecmel as a co-conspirator.

I also sighed with frustration when Nare said she'd never be with Sahin out of gratitude for the liver (the one that was partially pickled with alcohol. I wondered about that).

Yes, I like Hasan, dondi. I remember when we got the big reveal that Hasan was the one, working undercover in Ecmel's company, that got Ecmel sent up the river. But, as we've seen, he's completely under his sister's thumb. I'd surely love to see Fiko get all her chemo, recover, and end up with Hasan.

OT

Next week the Telemundo pages will be set up by yours truly. The way it works is that either Juanita or I choose a key word that can be put at the top of each comment so people can skip the one they're not watching. Would you like me to put up one for Poder y Traición since a couple of you are watching?

It's a real pleasure, not a really pleasure. Sheesh, novelera, read before posting!

OT

Novelera,

Yes. It’s on Telemundo late night. Maybe it should be on Daytime y mas? I’m fine with either one. “ Poder”and “Traicion” may already have been used. Turkish is Yali Capkini. What’s a good name to use?

"CASILLAS"
Howdy from the Alamo City CarayCaray Family. Here's my super-short recap of last night's episode.

*General Cifuentes & Tibiero upping the ante even further.

*Psycho Rancho & Crazy Lucy both need to die violent deaths ASAP.

*Tata rescues Ulysses from the torture chamber: Wondering how Lizzie will react to this development LOL.

*Roberta & Co., taking a tour of one of the maximum secret prisons.

*Gut feeling both Aurelio & Ritula are being held prisoner by Cifuentes.

*Dumbass Margarita just Messed Around & Find Out because Creepy Jaguar is going to violently rape her AGAIN!

poder y traicion
Episode 19
Fuat and Suna getting closer, Asuman worried. Aunt Ifakat is encouraging this by having the Korhan brothers take Sanli sisters to dinner without Fuat’s wife.

Creepy Kazim and Yusuf back up lie about their being related because it serves both of their self interests.

Creepy Kazim goes after Suna, grabbing by hair violently. But Abidin was worried (he likes Suna) and called Ferit. Ferit calls Creepy Kazim and artfully threatens him with going back to Antep if Suna hurt. Ferit will take girls out for dinner that night (to be sure she is ok). I was impressed with Ferit’s negotiating/threatening skill here.

Seyran so grateful and hugs him but he doesn’t hug back. He believes Pelin’s lie about Seyran and Yusuf’s future plans. Seyran guesses where lie came from. They make a new deal: no Yusuf or college for S and no Pelin for F. They shake on it. Hadn’t he already broken with Pelin? Very one-sided deal, IMHO.

poder y traicion

Thanks for the offer, novelera. If poder and traicion are taken, Telemundo is using “Golden Boy” in the English captions. Could we use golden? Or as Babachita said the Turkish title is Yali Capkini and we can use either of those words.

Right now, it seems it’s just Babachita and me watching. This dizi is worth a try. I’d even go back to the beginning again if others want to start after Lejos ends. I can post an introduction to the story to help. Let me know.

Babachita, I was waiting at ep 13 for you to catch up and now you’ve surpassed me. This dizi is certainly binge-worthy. I can catch up over the weekend and then join you in a daily discussion. I wish I had the time to recap this every night.

Poder y traicion

Dondi, I got so hooked on this that I was bingeing and realized I was nearly caught up with the broadcast so I made a push and am caught up. I wish we had others watching. If there’s any interest, we could back up or do it later like kpa. It’s such a compelling story. I can stop with the comments if you want. I thought if they relate to the broadcast release maybe we’d get some interest. I don’t want them to be spoilers either.

Babachita

Poder y tracion

Babachita, based on comments here I saved it but haven't started watching yet, but the weekend is coming and with it more snow potential here in the south which means we won't be venturing out very much so I'll try to catch up with this also.

poder y traicion

What fun if we might have three of us with Dondi and Kat. Dondi, I’m sorry I misunderstood about catching up. I didn’t know you stopped and were waiting! It’s nice to be caught up to the broadcast schedule but I can watch and not comment, continue to comment, or just stop and wait. Kat, I found the story was easy to binge!

I think Novelera likes one word lower case names. golden or yali might work. Or goldenboy or yalicapkini would also work. What do you think?

Kat, I agree with your grandchild, you are awesome! Your hip replacement is very inspirational to us all!

Poder y traicion
Is this dizi being shown now on telemundo ? Susan

Poder y traicion

Yes, Susan. Late at night. It’s sometimes 11:30 PM and sometimes midnight here in central time zone.

Babachita

poder y traicion

Quick post--if we get a group, perhaps we can start over and set a schedule for watching. I don't want to give spoilers to new viewers. I'll post more later. Hi Kat and Susan!

Poder y traicion

I will pause so no spoilers.

Lejos

This was too good not to have a discussion. So, here’s another quickie.

Sada comes to the police station and rants about Cihan being under arrest. Kaya tells her about Halis revealing Boran was in Toronto. Alya came also, although Cihan had asked her not to do so.

Fiko tries to break out of the hospital. But Mine, spying per Sada’s bidding, overhears Fiko and Alya speak about the big reveal that Boran died as a result of Alya sending a photo to her mother.

Sada rummages through Alya’s room and finds the photo Alya had taken from her mother’s purse, the one with Fiko and Halis. She connects the dots and falls apart.

Calling on her inner harridan, Sadakat goes after Alya, shrieking. She blames Alya [what else is new?]. She doesn’t let her say a word. She has some henchies throw Alya out [although they don’t look happy about it]. Deniz comes downstairs just as his mother is dragged away. We see Alya develop a steel spine. Fortunately, there’s a car outside the big gate.

Sahin shows up asking why Cihan is in prison. Alya finds a big silver gun in the car.

Halis and Ecmel react to Cihan’s arrival in the prison “dorm room”. Ah, Muzaffer said something about having some Albora guys inside. There’s a fight. Cihan and the Albora guys win. Ecmel and Halis are taken to a big prison bathroom. The famous photo of Alya, Boran and infant Deniz is shown.

Alya comes back with the gun and a full gas can. Such a great scene! She seems to have developed a full Southern Turkey temperament and fires at the sky. And then she shoots at the gas she poured all over. Sada screams from her usual gargoyle spot. Kaya comes home but can’t stop her. She burns down that big gate and walks in.

While Sada chews out the men for being incompetent, Alya says that the konak also belongs to her. If you don’t like it, leave (to Sada). Sada walks away from the entrance screaming in frustration. She calms herself enough to call Mine to ask if the sex of the fetus is yet known. Methinks Sada is ready to move on from Deniz.

There’s a long scene in the prison bathroom. Not writing it all. We learn that Nadim was also in the group that saw the Toronto photo.

In a private area Cihan calls Alya a pyromaniac with one of those fond smiles. They have a really good, warm conversation. He assures her that he believes she had no idea what would happen when she sent Fiko that photograph. She gives Cihan a drawing Deniz made of the three of them together.

In a visiting room with the warring Alboras at separate tables and quite a way apart, Sada snarls that it was all Alya’s fault. Cihan and Kaya both tells Sada that it was not Alya’s fault.

Sahin asks Ecmel if he did it? Ecmel denies it, of course.

Sada comes to the hospital to yell at Fiko. Sada thinks she can throw her out of the hospital.

Cihan meets with Nadim. Demir is there as well. He calmly describes the three suspects being together in a bar when the photo was shown. Nadim insists he never saw such a photo. Cihan tells him that if Nadim did it, he won't visit him as Cihan Albora, but as his verdugo. Maybe we’ll find out tonight.

lejos

I am grateful for your recap, novelera. ITA, this deserves discussion. I love how you describe Sada. Gargoyle. Harridan.

The screaming. OMG. Loved Alya claiming her rights as Cihan’s wife and burning down the doors.

I’m not sure that Sada wants to move on from Deniz, but she will use Mine’s baby to split Cihan and Alya.

I’m glad that Cihan is willing to listen to explanations and not jump to the usual frustrating dizi conclusions. It’s refreshing.

I think that Nadim is being set up to take the fall for Boran. Demir will be happy if this gets his dad out of the way. But I’m with Sada on this one. I think Ecmel is behind Boran’s accident. Come on, how soapy is that? He doesn’t know he ordered a hit on his own son.

lejos

I like this new Alya so much better than the whiny version. This one is fighting fire with literal fire! Shame about the door because it looked nice but it’s about time someone takes down Sada. Fike (?) is good at that but the woman is sick. Maybe next time someone threatens to shoot Sada, they’ll all go “cool” and go get food instead of trying to stop it.

OT

I have created the word "golden" as the headline word for recaps and/or comments about Poder y Traición, the dizi running very late on Telemundo. That word will appear next week and going forward. Since that's the network where it is being shown, discussions should probably be on these pages rather than the Uni daytime ones.

It sounds like something I'd enjoy, but I do limit myself to one telenovela/dizi at a time. I would like to find the beginning of it and give it a try after Lejos runs its course. Something about the Telemundo app was mentioned. I do not have that.

I'm kind of "meh" about the Lobo one being heavily promoted. I usually FF>>> through those promos, but I've seen enough to be dubious. I like Arap Bethke in everything I've ever seen him in. IIRC the first one I saw Arap in was Doña Bárbara, one of my all-time favorites. It happened to be running on Telemundo, in 2008, at the same time that my Advanced Spanish class was reading the original novel by Rómulo Gallegos and discussing it (in Spanish, of course) in class.

I'm dubious because it looks SO violent. It looks to me like another one in the mold of El Señor de los Cielos. I gave up on that one after Season 3, I believe. I guess I'm not in the demographic for these shows. I have fond memories of when Telemundo ran 3 novelas a night. The first one was pretty G-rated, then the second with a bit more sex, and thirdly full-bore violence.

golden

This works for me, Novelera. We’ll get organized and Poder y traicion discussion will be here, using Golden Boy, one of the English names used for this dizi, to give us the title “golden.”

Babachita

lejos and OT Domenica

I will post this on this page and on the Univision page.

The themes from dizis and tns often play in my head. Of course, the Adagio from Concierto de Aranjuez was already a favorite (the main theme in the Turkish Lejos). Me esta doliendo also gets in my head!

Another favorite theme is from Univision's Domenica Montero, Ahi estabas tu. I looked up the artist and found, to my surprise, that Carin Leon did both Me esta doliendo and Ahí estabas tu! I really need to stay more current with Spanish artists!

Lejos

Novelera – thank you so much for the recap! I’m so glad you did one because that was an amazing episode.

I was surprised that they put Cihan in with Ecmel and his guys. Surely the prison folks know that there’s bad blood. Or is there only one cell? From the outside the prison looks like a decent-sized facility.

I fully expected that some guys would jump him right away, and was very surprised that the cell guys were deferential to him. Even Ecmel acted polite. Cihan seems to have some authority they respect.

The fistfights were rather small and of course no one ended up with big bruises or limps. Up until somebody tried to stab Cihan, the conflict level was pretty low.

I loved the gate-burning scene. You go, Alya! And it was fun that Cihan was amused rather than upset. Of course he can easily afford a new gate and thankfully it looks like the stonework wasn’t scorched at all.

OT – how many TNs do you watch?

Novelera – I was impressed that you limit yourself to one. Right now I’m watching three – Lejos plus Monteverde (fabulous) and Papas por Siempre, which has a lot of cast members I like but is kind of a mess. The most I watched at one time was four!

OT

Maggie, I try to watch only one mostly because I'm in two book groups. So, I need to read two novels or non-fiction books each month. I'm a lifelong devoted reader, and I don't plan for television to take up all my time. And this is not to mention my tiny addiction to the NY Times Games app, where I play 4 or 5 of them per day.

OT

Maggie, my max was 4 at one time also. I'm doing 3 now, though KPA is only 3 per week on the weekends. Monteverde is the only one I try to stay caught up with. Domenica isn't being recapped so that falls by the wayside too. I just started Poder y tracion (up to episode 3). It's so hard in the beginning and the first 2 episodes had Spanish CCS then they switched to English on the third. I'm going to stick with those until I learn the characters better. I spend a lot of time listening to the dialogue trying to catch the names. First episode the CCS timing was way off so that was a real challenge.

Golden

Seyran looks a lot like the actress that played Umay in Bahar. I was convinced they were the same, but alas I was wrong. Then I thought maybe they were siblings. Wrong again. Seyran has beautiful eyes and the wedding dress she wears in episode 5 is so beautiful!

Babachita, I agree this show sucks you in it wont take me long to catch up. I need to get to ithe current so the captions line up better.

#67 part 1

Slight rewind. Cihan warns Nadim, if you had anything to do with Boran’s death, I’ll find you, not as Cihan, but as your executioner. Demir likes this. I can see the wheels turning in his head. The Baybars leave.

Sahin says his father denies being at any bar. If Halis is lying, it’s because he did it. Even if he’s telling the truth, it doesn’t mean my father did it. Cihan sighs. Sahin warns Cihan, don’t you dare touch my father. My brother was murdered, Cihan replies, I will discover the identity of whoever killed him and when I do, I will make them pay. Even if it’s your father.

Ozkan woke up. He’s okay right now but will remain under observation. One day at a time. Nare asks to see him.

Nadim and Demir arrive home. Demir asks him, why did you lie? Nadim plays dumb. Demir says, you were all there at the bar, Halis, you and Ecmel, and Halis wasn’t lying. Nadim asks, how do you know that? Because I was there, Demir says, I saw all of you. So, it was you, wasn’t it? Nadim denies it. He adds, but maybe it was you. You could have overheard the conversation and ordered the death. Demir answers, if I had done it, I would have admitted it. I’m not a coward like you.

Zerrin comes outside. She spoke to Sahin and he told her that Boran was murdered. She asks, it was you two, right? Nadim tells her to ask that of her father. Ask your useless father who it was and tell him who the father of the bastard in your womb is. See what he does to you! Zerrin loses it. Shut your mouth! I’ll tell him soon! I told you! Don’t pressure me! She feels faint. Demir rushes to her and carries her into the house.

Edit: Demir places Zerrin on the bed. He asks if she wants him to contact her brother. No. She asks for water and Demir quickly brings her a glass. He’s very attentive and concerned. He asks, is the baby okay? What do you care, she asks, is it your child? So what, he replies, I’ll be a father to him. Don’t be, Zerrin answers, let me go. He almost looks hurt. Zerrin, what will you do with the child you carry? Do you still think you can be with Kaya? Especially if your father killed Boran. He didn’t do it, Zerrin says, you did it. I’m sure. If I did it, then you’re lucky, Demir says, you’ll be saved from me. But what if your father did it? Have mercy on your child. She tells him to leave.

Mine is roaming the halls as usual. She sees Sada and asks to talk. Fiko sees them walk off together.

Nare smiles at Ozkan through the ICU window. He sees her but there’s not much in the way of a response.

Edit: Cihan is in his bunk. He’s got the picture Deniz drew hanging above. He smiles.

Ayla comes to see Fiko. Fiko asks about Mine’s relationship with the Alboras. Ayla says they are friendly, something like that. Fiko pushes for more. What kind of friendship? I don’t know and I don’t care, Alya replies, why do you ask? Fiko shrugs, just curious. Alya tells Fiko she’s being discharged tomorrow and can come back to the konak.

Fiko thinks Alya is crazy. Did you not see what happened with Sadakat? I can deal with her, but I don’t want you to be in trouble. Ayla tells her it will be fine. Fiko notes that Alya doesn’t look well. She must be upset about Cihan. Alya gives a semi eye roll. I know you love him, I can tell, Fiko says.

Alya is surprised. Fiko says, and he loves you, too. That’s not true, Alya quickly responds. Don’t deny it, Fiko replies, do you know who you’re talking to? Fiko! You think you can lie to me? Alya asks, did you forget I’m his brother’s wife? Fiko shakes her head—no you’re not. Now you’re Cihan’s wife. Alya takes a breath… but we can’t be together. Cihan would never betray Boran. And neither would I. It can never happen.

lejos
#67 part 2

So what will you do, Fiko asks, what about your feelings for each other? Will you stay together and pretend you don’t love each other? You are human and need to feel loved. Alya brings up the deal. I’ll stay until my son is no longer in danger. After that, I’ll leave. That’s what will happen, understand?

Fiko shakes her head again—you’re not going anywhere. He won’t let you. And in the end, you won’t leave. Nothing is impossible. Accept what is inherent in a person—love. Life will make you accept it anyway. Nothing in this world will stop the love you feel for each other, Alya. I might not live to see it, but when you finally confess your love for each other, I want you to remember what I told you.

Kaya meets with villagers. Muzzafer and Kadir are with him. Fadil invites Kaya to sit and have tea. Kaya politely declines. He wants to get to the business at hand. What’s the problem? Fadil says there is an outbreak of eczema in the livestock. We need to take measures before we lose them. Kaya replies, tell me how many houses have sick animals and I’ll send a vet. There are responses of God bless you among the group. Fadil offers tea again. Kaya politely declines again and turns to go.

A man, Rezmi, shouts out to Kaya. He comes forward. Cihan paid Ecmel a visit, didn’t he? If you couldn’t eliminate Ecmel, do you think Cihan can? What kind of question is that, Kaya says. Remzi asks the group, am I lying? Some of the men support Remzi. He continues, people respect Ecmel. And Sahin’s had success with shipments. The group starts to chatter.

Kaya warns Remzi to watch his words. Muzzafer tries to get Kaya to leave. Fadil steps in to calm Remzi. Remzi explains to the group that Cihan’s family is going to kill Ecmel and take control. Remzi presses Kaya, what else is Cihan doing in there? Kaya grabs Remzi by the collar and threatens—do you want me to kill and bury you here?

Muzzafer pulls Kaya away. Others hold Remzi back. Kaya cautions Remzi, don’t say his name again. Remzi shouts—learn to respect people! Kaya stupidly issues another threat, keep it up and I’ll destroy your house, your life, and put you out on the street! Kaya finally gets in the car. Remzi shouts, you don’t have the guts to do it!

Nare comes to see Fiko. She apologizes for what happened. Fiko asks about Ozkan and she’s happy to hear he’s awake. Before Nare leaves Fiko says, Alya told me that Mine is a friend of the family. Nare is surprised, Alya told you that? Yes… that’s true, we’ve known her a long time. Fiko asks, is she married? Nare wonders why she’s asking. Well, Fiko replies, because I think she’s pregnant.

Nare is stunned. What? Why? Fiko explains Mine was dizzy and nauseous the other day. That’s why I thought about it. [Fiko must watch a lot of dizis and TNs like us.] Nare is flustered. She says goodbye and leaves. She mutters under her breath… this can’t be. Why haven’t I been told?

Mine asks Sada, what will happen if this baby is a girl? Will I give birth as a mistress? Sada answers, Alya won’t care if it’s a boy or a girl. She won’t accept the situation and will probably leave. That’s what I want. But you are right. If it’s a girl, I won’t pressure Cihan to marry you. I know him. He won’t do it if he doesn’t want to. And you won’t live with us in the konak either. I’d find you an apartment. Cihan should marry a woman whose virtue is intact and who can give him a male child.

Just as I thought, Mine replies. Nare appears and heads over to them. Mine continues, you are a cruel woman. [I think Sada takes that as a compliment.] You’re no angel either, Sada notes. You secretly get pregnant by a married man. You better pray the child is a boy. Nare calls out—mom! Sada heads over to her.

lejos
#67 part 3

Nare wants to know why Sada is speaking with Mine. She asked about your brother and I told her, Sada says. It’s none of her business, Nare fires back. Why are you explaining anything? What’s going on? Sada calmly answers, she wanted to know, so I told her. No big deal. Let’s go.

Demir talks to Ecmel by phone. Good job of inciting the villagers, Ecmel. If Cihan is in there much longer, Albora will burn. But if he murders you in there…I don’t know. He won’t be able to, Ecmel replies, he knows Albora will rise up. Do what needs to be done in the village, Demir. Of course, Demir answers.

Ha, ha… are those metal doors being installed at the Albora konak?
Kaya speaks with Cihan on the phone. I’m sure that idiot Remzi was provoked by Ecmel. Cihan agrees that Ecmel took the opportunity. He asks Kaya to keep cool, they will keep provoking him. Be smarter. Reinforce security. No one goes out alone.

Sada asks if Cihan is okay. Alya has come outside and she asks, too. Kaya says, he’s waiting. He told me to reinforce security, stay alert and take care. Sada notes, we have to watch each other’s backs. [it’s funny coming from her.] Sada walks away while glaring at Alya.

Nare and Alya talk. Ozkan is doing better. Nare hopes he recovers, if he doesn’t, she won’t know what to do. All we can do is think positive, Alya replies. Can I ask you something, Nare says, is Mine dealing with any health issues? Not that I know, Alya replies, why what happened?

She didn’t look good, Nare says, maybe she’s taking the breakup hard. But she must accept it. My brother never promised her anything and Mine remained in that relationship even though she knew that. Why are you telling me this, Alya asks, I don’t understand. Nare says, I think I got scared. She was a mess. Whatever, I still don’t like her. Sorry, you should go and rest.
Kaya calls Sahin to meet about the incident in the village.

Cihan calls Alya. He jokes right off the bat—if they installed the new door, don’t burn it down again. Alya smiles. Mmm-hmm. Sadakat ordered something fireproof this time. Ha, Cihan responds, she’s out to get you. No, Alya says, she’s actually scared of me. Still, be careful, Cihan advises. He asks, how’s Cihan (Deniz)? Alya says he’s good. And how are you, Cihan asks. You know, she replies, and you? Yes, he answers. He tells her to be careful. There might be trouble out there. Please don’t go out alone. Worry about yourself, Alya says. Cihan tells her he must worry about her. Bundle up before you go to bed. She tells him to hang up. He replies, you first. She hangs up.

Zerrin is looking at pics of her and Kaya on her phone when Nadim bursts into the room. He grabs her—I don’t want you in my house! She fights back, let me go! He pulls her out of the room, you don’t belong here! Walk! She swats him and shouts. Nadim stuffs her into the back seat of a car. Demir shouts at his father. Nadim drives away. Demir gets in his car to chase.

Nadim brings Zerrin to her mother’s house. Kaya arrives there at the same time. And here comes Demir. Everyone assembles out on the terrace. Sahin asks, what is it, Nadim? Nadim points at Zerrin, this woman… is pregnant with Kaya’s child! Fidan asks, what are you saying? Kaya is in shock. Demir grabs Nadim, I’m going to kill you! Nadim hurls the accusation again.

Sahin and Fidan question Zerrin. Say it ain’t so. Zerrin looks at Kaya. Kaya is hopeful that this is his chance to be with Zerrin. He asks her,, is it true? Zerrin is silent.

Demir threatens Nadim. I’ll tell Kaya that you knew where Boran was. And then they will kill you. Nadim looks terrified. Demir tells Nadim to take back what he said.

lejos
#67 part 4

Zerrin sobs. Fidan is alarmed, tell me it’s not true, news like that will kill us. Everyone waits for Zerrin’s response. She finally says it’s Demir’s. Kaya deflates. Demir takes Zerrin’s hand. You heard her. Does that clear things up? Zerrin is my beloved wife. The baby she carries is ours. Hear that? Demir takes Zerrin away. Nadim leaves.

Kaya comes home and he’s furious. He doesn’t return Kadir’s greeting. Kadir thinks this signals trouble. He follows Kaya. Kaya slams the door in his room and starts punching the wall until his hand bleeds. Kadir enters and pulls him away. Kaya howls. Nare comes in and she’s scared. She sends Kadir to get something for Kaya’s hand. She asks her bro, what happened? Why did you do that? Kaya is distraught. He answers, I think Zerrin is pregnant with my baby. Another stunner for Nare this episode.

Something’s up in the cell. Suspicious looks. An inmate takes a knife and heads over to Cihan, who is fixing his bunk, unaware, until he notices a shadow on the sheet. Cihan turns and defends himself. Halis and Ecmel are spectators. Ecmel tells Cihan to be careful. [does he care or is that for show?] Ecmel grabs the assailant’s arm, and he gets cut.

Guards enter the cell with guns drawn. Drop the knife!! The fight continues. The guard orders again—drop the knife!! The fight continues and the guard shoots. Cihan holds on to the attacker and asks, tell me who it was? The man gasps…. Halis… and he slides out of Cihan’s arms. Cihan’s eyes widen. He holds his hands up.

Ecmel is taken to the infirmary and as he passes Cihan he says, avenge Boran’s death… finish the job, Cihan. Halis is astonished. Cihan has a murderous look. [I think this is a plot by Ecmel to deflect any blame. And get rid of Halis who has become a liability for him.]

Nare thinks that Kaya should accept that Zerrin and Demir are having a baby. [I guess Nare doesn’t watch dizis or TNs like Fiko. I feel heartbroken for Kaya.]
Halis is brought to the interrogation bathroom again. He swears he had nothing to do with this latest incident. Cihan tells him don’t swear in vain. Halis claims, they are trying to pit us against each other. This is a set up. Can’t you see? Nadim or Ecmel are behind this, not me, he whimpers. I swear. I’m begging you.

Cihan replies, do you think I’d believe them or an idiot like you? Halis continues to whimper, Cihan, don’t do this to me. Believe me. Hamada, find Hamada. He will tell you everything. I know his father. We worked together. I have his address. I’ll tell you. Cihan asks, if you had his address, why didn’t you give it to me? Halis says he was scared to get involved. He starts sobbing. Cihan tells Halis to start talking. He’s listening.

Okay, I’ll talk, Halis says, I know you’re a man of honor. Give me your word. You’ll spare my life. Cihan responds, start talking or I’ll kill you right here like the honorable man I am. Jarablus, Halis says, Jarablus. (a city in Syria on the border with Türkiye.) In the village of Fatis. Cihan tells Halis to call his lawyer and drop the charges for the fire. You have a hearing tomorrow; you’ll probably go free. I’ll find you when it’s over and we’ll go to Jarablus together to find that man. Pray that he’s still alive.

Kaya comes to breakfast with the news that Cihan was attacked in prison. Don’t worry, he’s okay. Alya gets a call and leaves to take it. Sada is sure that Ecmel is behind the attack. [I agree with her.]

#67 part 5

Cihan called Alya. She asks, do you know who did it? Cihan says the man who attacked him said he was sent by Halis. But Cihan thinks it’s a set up. Alya asks, you think Ecmel did it? Cihan says probably. She asks, how much longer will you be in there? Cihan says Halis is getting out today and he is too. Halis withdrew his complaint. We appealed to court and they accepted. I’ll be released on parole. As soon as I’m out, I’m going with Halis to find the man he told me about. So soon, she asks, when will this be over? When I find Boran’s murderer, he replies. Alya is skeptical. Will it end or will it start things?

Halis is taken to court. The guard tells Cihan he will be released. Ecmel doesn’t look so happy. He walks over to Cihan to stir the pot—Halis is still saying he didn’t do it. I don’t believe a word. He definitely did it. Take care of him on the outside. Cihan glares at Ecmel. He takes his bag and leaves the cell. Cihan leaves the prison with Erol. Kaya, Muzzafer, and Hasan are there to pick him up. They see Halis being taken to the van.

Two motos each with a couple of men carrying rifles, stop at Remzi’s house and start shooting. The family runs for cover. One man shouts—Kaya sends his regards! The lands know their master! Come to your senses, Remzi!! They drive off. Men run through the village with the news, Kaya Albora attacked Remzi’s house! The house was destroyed! Fadil can’t believe it. He calls for calm to no avail. An angry mob runs off. And there is Demir watching this from his car.

Alya is being chauffeured somewhere. They come across the mob. They swarm the car. She is frightened and confused. Why are they so upset?
Kadir gets a call and he relays it Cihan. Remzi’s house was attacked and Kaya’s being blamed.

The mob takes the driver from the car and beats him. Cihan calls Alya. She tells him a group attacked them and they took the driver. Cihan tells her not to get out of the car and lock the doors. He’s on his way. Cihan tells Kadir to get in the other car. Get Halis as soon as he’s released and take him to the warehouse. Kadir complies.

Of course, Alya didn’t listen to Cihan. She’s out of the car and trying to get to the driver. She gets tossed around a bit. Cihan arrives and he fires a couple of shots in the air. That stops the crowd. He rushes to Alya, are you alright? Yes. He whisks her away to his car. She assures him she is okay. She asks about Halis. He’s still in court. Alya asks, didn’t you say you were going to Syria after his hearing? I couldn’t go now, he answers.

Cihan addresses the crowd. How could you do something like this with my wife present? He wants everyone to go to the café to talk. Slight edit here: Cihan ordered Alya be taken to the konak, but she makes the guys take her to the café. Everyone assembles. Cihan asks the group, since when have I ever shot up a house in Albora? The men respond, never.

What’s wrong with you all, Cihan asks, be smart. Someone is clearly trying to cause problems for us. You fell for their lies. You claim I tried to eliminate Ecmel to keep Sahin from taking control. Do you think I’d do something like that? The men murmur, no, of course not…

#67 part 6

Cihan continues, didn’t I clear the way for Sahin? Why would I give him land only to turn around and do this? Think. Pay close attention. From now on, if anyone tries to hurt anyone in my family, no matter who it is, I will make his life impossible. You have been warned. Fadil asks for forgiveness on behalf of the men. It won’t happen again. Cihan says, if you are Albora, so am I.

Crisis over. Sahin is there. He heard about Alya and is sorry. Cihan explains what happened and obviously Kaya was innocent. Sahin asks, so you’re saying it was my father? What do you think, Cihan responds, I think so. Be grateful nothing happened to Alya. If she was hurt, I swear I would go back to prison to kill your father. The same goes if I find out he’s Boran’s murderer.

Are you serious, Sahin asks. I’ll remind you that Halis tried to kill you and hurt my father. Didn’t Halis kill Boran? The devil is lurking everywhere, Cihan replies, I still don’t know who’s really responsible. But I’ll find out. I’m very close.

Erol tells Kadir and Hasan that Halis has been released due to insufficient evidence. He’s free. The rest is up to you. Halis walks by. Geçmiş olsun, kardeş, Hasan tells him. Kadir and Hasan follow Halis out. Unfortunately, there is a large group of people fighting in front of the courthouse. Kadir and Hasan lose sight of Halis. A guy extracts Halis from the middle of the commotion and puts him in a car. Looks like it was a setup for escape. Kadir spots them too late. Halis gets away.

Cihan brings Alya and Fiko back to the konak. Sada is ready to fight. Cihan lays down the law. Don’t start, she’s not going anywhere. Kadir calls him with the bad news about Halis. Sada faults Cihan for not being at the courthouse. His priority was helping Alya. A search for Halis starts. Sada snarks, maybe Fikriye Hanım knows where he is.

Kaya thinks that Hamada’s address is no good since Halis made an escape. Fiko listens in on this convo. Cihan says, even if the address is good, Halis probably tipped him off. Do you really think Halis did it, Kaya asks. He revealed Boran’s location, Cihan replies, and since he betrayed us, he fled in terror. I swear we’ll find him. He won’t go to family or friends. He must have other hideouts. Your job is to find all of them. Muzzafer says he’ll handle that.

Fiko goes back to her room. She mutters, where the hell did you go? She’s thinking.

Nare comes to Cihan. I know things are complicated right now but there’s something I need to ask you. He asks, is it about Ozkan? No, she replies, it’s about Mine. Mine? Yes, there’s something troubling me, Nare says. What? She takes a breath—could she be pregnant? Cihan is floored. What?!

And we are out!

Kat, I’m glad you’re jumping in. The roving subtitles are very annoying. If you have access to peacock (premium, I think) they also show this. I think the subtitles were better. Telemundo also has an app that might work better.

The actress looks familiar to me, also. The actors are great, of course. So well done!

Babachita, I have Premium Peacock, I believe. I found the dizi. There was one commercial at the beginning. Don't have time to watch now. Fingers crossed it's not a full complement of commercials for the whole episode.

OT – how many TNs do you watch?

I’m mostly a Telemundo viewer. I’ve been casually watching Dinastia Casillas and I’m seriously watching Lejos and recapping it once a week. I’ve been rewatching and helping to recap KPA. I like to watch one weekly Turkish broadcast dizi, but I’ll postpone that to rewatch Golden instead. I don’t know if I’ll watch Lobo.

I work full time and I fall behind at times. But I really enjoy hanging with everyone on the Caray patio! Casillas and Lejos are ending soon, so that’s good. I don’t watch much else on TV except news, sports and Jeopardy. And novelera, I play the NYT games, too.

Thanks, dondi. As usual, your recap was SO good and cleared up some things for me. I'm amazed at how you get all these ancillary characters' names the first time they appear. I did make a mental note of Remzi and didn't like the look of him. But the other guy who still stuck up for Cihan...never caught his name until I read the recap.

I enjoyed the edit of Demir's conversation with Zerrin. He's so screwed up, but he definitely wants Zerrin around. It seems to me to be more than revenge against Cihan and Kaya. I almost think he hopes to win her over.

I loved Fiko saying the quiet part out loud. Cihan and Alya are in love with each other and can't or won't admit it because of their separate loyalty to Boran. I think Fiko is the catalytic agent that might bring these two to admit what's going on. She thinks the world of Cihan and wants her daughter in a real marriage with him.

This dizi could also be called Devious People. I despise Ecmel and am ITA about his being the one who arranged for Boran to be killed. Sadakat hates Alya almost as much as she hates Ecmel.

I think Kaya does believe that Zerrin is expecting his child and not Demir's. IIRC he said that after Zerrin said it was Demir's.

Another thought. It's really stunning hypocrisy of Sadakat telling Mine that Cihan ought only to marry a pure woman who gives him a male child. She'd not be throwing her weight around in that konak if Azem Albora hadn't been such a decent man.

Thanks, novelera. I remember more when I commit to recapping a show. It forces me to pay attention to detail. I rewatch scenes. Note taking also reinforces memory. And when it’s a dizi, I’m also checking back to the original. I forget stuff anyway and someone on the patio usually comes to the rescue.

Fadil was one of the men who came to the Albora konak to plan the circumcision ceremonies.

ITA Zerrin is becoming more than revenge for Demir. I don’t know why they edited this short scene. I think it’s important to the story.

I admit I had doubts about Fiko when she arrived, but those are gone now. I hope she sticks around because someone needs to tell it like it is.
I also think Kaya believes the baby is his. He needs to believe it. It’s his only hope.

ITA on the “stunning hypocrisy of Sadakat”. The worst punishment for her would be exposing her history to all in Albora. She would have been killed if not for Azem Albora.

Lejos

Dondi – I couldn’t figure out the whole back and forth with the villagers, and hoped the recap would straighten it out for me. And you did! This whole recap was wonderful. I can’t believe that you work full-time and then watch both the Spanish and Turkish versions of this show. And then write it up for us in terrific detail! Just amazing.

Back to the villagers. I thought the “shipments,” which we assume are actually contraband, were secret. If the whole village is well aware of them, and furthermore know that Sahin is doing very well with them, what if the authorities come sniffing around?

If they give us the second season, which I sure hope they do, by the time it finally arrives I will have forgotten much of this intricate plot with all its scheming and secrets.

Novelera – I didn’t think about Sadakat not being pure herself! You’re so right.

Poder y Traicion – Yali Capkini – Golden Boy – Kingfisher
(Excellent Turkish Dizi late-night on Telemundo)

Dondi gave us some introductory information in two posts on the Telemundo page for the Week of January 26:

On Monday, January 26 at 8:43 PM, Dondi gave an excellent introduction. She also explains that the soundtrack won awards but thought we might not get the music, as Telemundo usually inserts other music. We are so lucky because we ARE getting the music (unless it’s on a part of the dizi that is cut!) It is lovely music.

On Tuesday, January 27 at 9:38 PM, Dondi also explained about the meaning of the Turkish title (Kingfisher).

We have three people who are watching this great tale and two more that might join us. I’m caught up with the broadcast episodes (21) and Dondi and Kat are catching up. Susan and Novelera have showed some interest as well.

Trying to do full recaps would be difficult IMO, but we might consider just commenting and discussing. The problem is where/when do we start?
1. We could start where the broadcast is now, but that might be spoiling for some starting at the beginning and still catching up.
2. Some might just start where the broadcast is currently (not go back to watch all the episodes just yet). If we just jump in commenting on the actual schedule, we can answer questions and provide background information for those who need it.
3. We might go back to the beginning and try to catch up, which is a little daunting considering we are three weeks in. But, if we don’t try to catch up, we could just ignore the broadcast schedule and make our own.

There are some problems with subtitles for some with recorded episodes, but the dizi is streaming on Peacock Premium, Telemundo app and maybe the NBC app.

So, what do you think?

Babachita

Golden

I watched 9 episodes yesterday, none today yet! But I'm about to turn on the TV for the first time today. Babachita, thanks for letting me know where Dondi gave us some introductions. I'll go read them

Imo, I think jumping in on the current episode makes the most sense. I won't ever watch them at the late night hour, so it will generally be a day behind. I tried doing late nights with sed de vengaza and it made my 6 a.m mornings rough. In a way I work full time, I'm gone from home generally 10 hours a day but the reward is better as it's babysitting my granddaughter, though the pay is nil..ah well, I got what I wished for in life. I was a sahm and now I'm a stay at home nana. But this is harder than raising my kids as I'm not at my home keeping up with my housework, etc.

First let me say that Juanita and I always create that name in lower case to put at the beginning of comments or recaps. I'd been on the Caray blog for seemingly forever, but at one point Juanita asked me to start putting up pages because the person who was doing alternate weeks with her dropped out. So, I volunteered. I can't reconstruct where I got the idea that the names had to be in lower case in order for people who drop in years later to read our recaps, perhaps after the show has been over for years. In any case, my motto is "If it ain't broke...". So, I keep doing it that way.

As I mentioned above, I get Peacock. Since it's streaming, I can't record on my DVR (I stream programs on a hooked-up Roku device) and have the luxury of skipping commercials. I will give it a shot. Dondi's recommendations are always gold. My preference would be to begin discussing after Lejos de Ti winds up, but if the majority want to jump in right now, I can just ignore comments and/or recaps until I catch up.
