I feel like I keep missing things in this show. It doesn't help that a lot of the vocabulary seems to be slang which I am not familiar with. Initially I thought Grecia was the missing daughter, but that is Georgina it seems. So now I think Grecia is the daughter of Sofia's father's mistress. I could look up names but in a few more episodes I think I'll get most of them.

It s very distracting having seen theses actors before. If I don't remember where, I'm wasting time looking them up. I didn't have that issue when telenovelas were new to me.

I have no clue how Chavo was Johnny on the spot rescuing Rex from the burning flames. One minute he's guarding Barbie and the next he's out in the country at his new friends place. It seems she was in the barn shooing the goats out, but when Chavo brought her out from the flames it seemed she was in their house, not the barn.

Is Grecia involved in Franco losing the home. It seems mortgage fraud or something occurred. Franco made payments every month but they weren't applied to his balance from what I have determined. I have other questions but maybe someone else will post things about this show.

About the over the top acting, I've only seen the Sofia actress in 1 1/2 telenovelas. I really enjoyed her in La suerte de Loli and didn't feel like she was overly dramatic there. Since it was pointed out by others I'm now on the lookout. Now Sergio I feel is pretty dramatic and I hate the manbun!!! No phone throwing yet, but I did notice Franco left his phone on the fire extinguisher box when he broke it to retrieve the axe.

No mi verdad tonight so I felt like adding this long comment.

I watched the first two last night. There’s so much vocabulary I don’t understand. And haven’t gotten the connections between the characters yet.
I’m still watching Las Hermanas and enjoy that, so I may give up on this.

Clara, thanks for the value-added on hipocoristicos. That was fascinating! I think I even mapped out a possible phonetic path from Salvador ---> Chava, but only a linguistics major would care.

Kat, I've given up for the moment on understanding what the youngsters are saying when they're doing the dozens. I thought about looking up all those words, but do I really want to sound like a bratty teenager?

I think the verdict is in on the man-bun: we all hate it. Sergio seems to be playing a caricature of himself -- but he's having such a good time, it's hard to begrudge him. He's my favorite bad boyfriend.

Oh, and another thing: Barbi calls Chava "Chafa," which means "crappy." At one point she says, "You're crappier than a cheap handbag."

Blue lass, I'm glad to get your perspective. I figured it was a bunch of slang that I have no real desire to learn either.

Liz, once I took over the recaps for mi verdad I stopped watching Hermanas. I thought it had promise but not many were mentioning it here so I quit.

Kat, I just finished watching #4 -- here are a few tidbits:

-- Salvador told Barbi he had to leave to go on an urgent errand for her mother. Presumably it had something to do with Franco, and that's why he was at their house. What's funny is that none of the Gallardos thought to ask him what he was doing there.

-- Grecia and Uriel were definitely responsible for the fire in one way or another. They were toasting the destruction of the house when Uriel mentioned that Rex was still inside when it went up, and Grecia said, "Oh well, collateral damage."

Well, I guessed the wrong character was Ines' child. It's Salvador. I don't understand why she is determined to find the missing daughter of Aramis. Can someone explain the kitchen scene with the household staff. The one girl definitely has a thing for Salvador. Is the head chef gay and also lusting after Salvador, or is he pretending to be gay and actually likes the man crazy maid? I haven't figured out these characters names yet.

Also, in that huge house there is only one room for the 2 bodyguards and Uriel so Salvador ends up sleeping on the floor. Is there additional night security guards for the place?

I have a theory on the manbun. Sergio is sporting that style to minimize his wrinkles! If I pull my long hair back in a bun it helps mine, lol. Poor Barbie not getting much affection from daddy is probably causing her eating disorder.

I am glad to read the comments because I am still watching . However , I missed a lot of last night's episode because an old friend called , and we talked for a long time .

I loved the original AV , but I have forgotten a lot of the plot. Sebastian Rulli played the part that Diego is playing . He seemed older . I think that the names of the characters have changed.

This mansion is much grander than the house in the original . This is like Lifestyles of thevrich and famous. It does seem.odd that the bodyguards share that small.room.

The kitchen staff played a big part of the original . This maid is just annoying to me in her interest in Chava.

What is the name of Grecia's lover? He has always played villains in the past shows I've seen him in . Garcia is really playing with the player Gonzalo.

I've never seen the actress playing Ines before . So, is she Georgianas mother ?
What is up between Chavez's father and Arimas ( Sofias father)?

I noticed that Barbi doll has a big picture on her bedroom wall with the words " Whole Lotta Love." Her bulimia And brattinesss played a big part in the original, and her bodyguard Rullli seemed much older and more mature than Chava. Susan

I just realized that Susana Gonzales was in this show . I can't remember which part she played . Marjorie de Sousa played the part of Grecia , and she really brought the evil as the lover of the husband of the leading lady (Erika Buenfil).
The original AV was so loved because it had so many very popular actors and actresses of that time .
Sergio Sendel does seem to love playing the smarmy , cheating husband who ignores his daughter and wife . Sergio is playing this role much campier than the original actor . Susan

Kat, I too was confused by the below-stairs action. The cook seemed to be saying that he was crazy about the yappy maid, but that she didn't pay him any attention because she thought he was gay? But later everyone seemed to agree that he was in fact gay, even him? (The term they used, "jochis," is new to me but apparently non-offensive.) If he's pretending, he's doing a darn good job.

Susan, we need an n-dimensional array to keep track of all these family relationships...

Ines abandoned her family (gambling Daddy, Salvador, and his single-mama sister) to run off with Aramis.

Georgina is Aramis' "secret" 3rd daughter, although Ines seemed to know enough about her to immediately recognize her face. Her mother is Candelaria, whose name caused Ines to go into a full swoon for some reason.

Grecia's BF is Uriel Bolero (sometimes they call him by his first name and sometimes his last.) It's unclear to me why she would take up with some guy that doesn't even have his own room, but I guess she wants to get at Gonzalo that bad.

GUARDIAN

P.S. That giant flapping video eagle is driving me to distraction. Is it wrong to hope for an in-office gunfight to take it out?

Guardián

Candelaria being Georgina's mother is really stretching the credibility factor. I thought they were about the same age and generation. I thought Candelaria was Sofia's sister, and that perhaps Rex was actually her daughter. So if Candelaria and Sofia are sisters and Georgina is a missing daughter, does that make her the product if an incestuous relationship with Candelaria and her father? That would be a twist I haven't seen in a telenovela before. I agree, a venn diagram or family tree of the characters would be helpful.

I am new to this one so I have no idea what is going on.

I got the impression Ines left her husband and kids when they were young, but I guess it was more recently from what blue lass said. I had no idea her ex was a gambler. That sailed right over my head in an earlier episode.

Susan, are you saving this series? If so you could go back and watch it. Catching up with a friend beats watching TV any day.

Guardian
Blue Lass , thank you for clearing up some things for me. The characters names are all different from the original show, so I am having trouble figuring the people out . It's like comparing apples to oranges . i should make a Venn diagram of the original and this new show to determine how they are different and how they are the same. This remake has a very different vibe than the original AV which had a more serious tone .

I've seen the guy playing Uriel in several shows on Uni and in " Vuelve a Ti" on Telemundo. He always played a very bad dude.

One of my best friends is a Spanish teacher . She has been to Mexico many times and told me that more and more English is seeping into Mexican speech.

I think that all the teenage slang is an attempt to appeal to young viewers .

GUARDIAN

Sofia's sister is Catalina, not Candelaria. We haven't met the latter yet. The former has just arrived, in her scary clown shoes.

Susan, I don't think I've ever watched a remake. I can see that it would be very confusing, especially if they changed all the names.

Guardian
Kat, when my friend called last night , I didn't think fast enough to record the show . The conversation lasted quite a long time . I havent recorded previous episodes, or I deleted them after I watched .

I did see Candelaria's dramatic arrival, and I didn't know who she was . This actress has also been in many shows, and she changes her look all the time . Candelaria had a sly look on her face , so I don't think she will be a good girl.

Ines was so shook up when she saw who moved in across the hall.

Having watched the original A V doesnt help me because none of the names are the same .I can't even remember if the leading the n AV had a sister .

All of these new characters seem younger and less serious than the original characters, and I think that is also to appeal to young people who don't seem as interested in telenovelas . Susan

Guardian

Blue Lass, oh my ...thanks ..yes, the camera focus was on Catalina from the back (???!!) And her scary shoes saw she walked up those stairs . Brava for not falling... ha . Then she turned around and had that tricky look on her face !!! Then , my phone rang .So...I think she is someone who has arrived to stir this already bubbling pot.
Susan

OT:
Susan, Darcy, UA, SpanProf, Blue Lass, Jarifa & Co: Looking forward to seeing the new Telenovela with Oka Giner & David Zepeda.
