TELEMUNDO Y MÁS (#2): Golden Boy y más: Week of June 8, 2026
TELEMUNDO WEEKEND EDITION (continuación)
Here's Page 2 for the week. The current telenovelas are as follows (all times are Eastern Daylight Time):
- Yali Capkini/Golden Boy
Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation. Since discussions of all the Telemundo novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post, so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for.
By common agreement, this group DOES NOT DISCUSS previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin. This includes references to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel. Thanks for your cooperation!
Golden Boy - Yali Capkini was running on Telemundo late nights as Poder y Traición. I don't know if they finished a season before they pre-empted it for the Copa Mundial. It's available online in the Telemundo and NBC apps and Daily Motion. A group of people are recapping the episodes here in this blog.
Telemundo is pre-empting it's prime time telenovelas or dizis for the World Cup programming.
(Pleased to watch Mexico win today.)
Typing one handed. So far no pain. my granddaughter taught me how to dictate, but she went home and I can't figure out how to get what I said from One Note on my Android phone into an email to myself so as to paste it here. Will watch some U-Tubes tomorrow for help. Still need to watch the next golden episode that dondi put up so I averted my eyes from the comments on page 1
The last Golden episode recapped in Part One of this week is #64. After that, there is a lot of discussion of other dizis to watch.
Novelera, hope you remain low pain after the anesthesia wears off. Take it easy.
Golden Boy – Yali Capkini – Poder y Traicion

“The Wrong Surprise”
Orhan is dressing for work. Gulgun puts on his coat and he thanks her. She tells him he can relax and not worry. His father will be gone in a few weeks. They discuss a little more, and Gulgun gets a feeling she doesn’t really know what’s going on.
Gulgun: If you’re hiding something, tell me.
Orhan: Gulgun, he’s embarrassed me in front of the staff so much, I wish he’d never retired.
Gulgun: Don’t worry. (She strokes his hair.) It took him time to accept you the first time. You already did it once. You can do this.
Ferit enters in time to catch their embrace.
Gulgun tells Ferit he should knock before entering.
Ferit: I see that everything is good between you.
Orhan: Can you tell our son that he’s now grown up and has to knock before entering?
Orhan leaves and Gulgun laughingly tells Ferit he needs to knock.
Ferit: How are things?
Gulgun: As you saw. It’s never been better.
Ferit: So, you’re happy. I was worried he’d take it out on you after what happened.
Gulgun: Not at all. Your father and I have always supported one another in moments like these. We always do. Hey, are you here just to ask me that?
Ferit: No, I have another question for you, Mother, but you can’t tell anyone. Seyran can’t find out about this, OK?
Gulgun: Don’t you dare tell me anything about Pelin. No. No!
Ifakat is sitting in a chair looking unhappy. Sultan knocks and enters.
Ifakat: I asked you for breakfast. Did you forget?
Sultan: No, I didn’t. Mr. Latif won’t allow it. He said everyone should come down for breakfast and that any request in the house should be given to him with notice.
Ifakat: And you couldn’t talk back to him?
Sultan: What could I say, madame? Halis Aga…
Ifakat interrupts: It’s fine. I know why this is happening. Like a tactless dog (meaning Latif). [This seems an odd phrase. Can a dog be tactless?] I see why he didn’t bark for so many years. He was waiting for his chance. The nerve! (Sultan looks uncomfortable.) Listen to me well. You have to rebel, Sultan, all of you, together,
Sultan: What do you mean?
Ifakat: Start working on Sefika, little by little. Make it so she can’t bear it anymore and goes to Mr. Halis. You and your daughter tell him you want to leave because of Mr. Latif and his treatment.
Sultan: What will I do if he fires us?
Ifakat: Don’t you trust me? Do as I say. I’ll take care of Abidin. If you rebel all together, the master will blame Latif for it. He doesn’t want his order to be upset.
Sultan: Well, OK, as you wish.
Ifakat: if this isn’t enough, I’ll face Mr. Halis myself and tell him I’m leaving. Ask for a raise, a really big one.
Sultan: Fine, don’t worry. I’ll talk to Mustafa and Carlos first.
Ifakat: Good, you can go.

Episode 65 #2 of 9
Suna is brushing her hair. Seyran knocks. Seyran enters and says to “Good Morning to the best sister in the world!” Suna wants to know what has happened. Suna tells her she can tell something has happened. After teasing her for a while, Seyran tells her that Ferit told her he loved her for the first time. Seyran is giddy and falls on the floor, so happy. Suna says now she can tell why she can’t stop smiling. Suna tells her that everyone knew this, so she is not surprised. Seyran tells her that hearing it from his mouth is something else, that for the first time, she felt that he really loved her.
Seyran: It was beautiful! Even now, he’s never said anything like that.
Suna asks her to tell her the whole story. Seyran says she doesn’t understand. Suna asks what she replied, did she say she loved him, too? Did they kiss, did they do the deed?
Seyran: No, of course not! Do you think it’s so easy? Besides I won’t believe him right away. Becoming a family is not that easy.
Suna: Well, but he said he loved you for the first time! And it touched your heart, Seyran! What are you waiting for?
Seyran: It’s just, I know Ferit well. I know him so well. He says that today, and tomorrow he’s a different person. He needs to earn my trust, sister. He broke my heart and lost my trust, you know that. I don’t know if he can fix it with a little, “I love you.”
Suna: Well, I understand. You’re right. But the person who’s going to fix your heart is Ferit Korhan. Let’s see what he’s willing to do.
Seyran: And how would I know? What should I do? Tell me. Most of the time, he’s like a child, and I’m that way, too.
Suna: Well, I don’t know what you have planned but stop breaking each other’s hearts. Now you’re taking slow steps, but it seems like good steps.
Seyran smiles and then suggests they have some breakfast. She tells her she made an incredible acai bowl for Ferit. It was delicious. I’ll make one for you, too. Come on!
Suna tries to resist, but Seyran insists and drags her off to the kitchen.
Ferit is dressed for work and riding up an elevator. He is looking at his phone and sees Pelin’s name on a list for adding as a contact or deleting. Ferit adds the contact after hesitating for a moment, dialing her.
Pelin is still in bed when the call comes through from Ferit. She answers. Ferit asks how she is doing. She asks him what’s going on and why he called her. He tells her he just wanted to see how she is doing.
Pelin: As if you cared how I’m doing!
Ferit: Pelin, don’t say that.
Pelin: What do you want from me?
Ferit seems surprised: What are you talking about?
Pelin: OK, I’m hanging up Ferit, and don’t call me again. Your wife could find out. Goodbye.
Ferit: Alright. Get a new number and send it to me.
Pelin: What are you talking about? What more do we have to talk about?
Ferit: We have lots to talk about. Do as I say. I need to go. Goodbye.
Pelin hangs up in frustration.
Ferit rounds the corner to the offices and is warmly greeted by very lovely Behlul. They exchange some flirty conversation, and she offers to brings him coffee or breakfast.
Ferit: And I used to wonder how my father goes to work without complaining.
Behlul: It wasn’t a special offer. Be careful. I don’t think Mr. Sadik should see you with your phone out.
Ferit: I know I should put it away when I get to the office.
Behlul: That means you’re adjusting.

Ferit: Does that mean becoming a zombie like my father and brother?
Behlul laughs and tells him he shouldn’t set a trap that way for her.
Ferit: Why? Tell me if it’s true.
At that moment, Fuat enters quietly.
Ferit: You know what, I need a friend here, or I’ll die of boredom!
Behlul, with little cute giggle: Maybe I can be your friend. Would you like that?
They exchange a high-five.
Fuat can’t take any more: Behlul, what is this commotion?
Behlul struggles a bit: Uh, Mr. Orhan asked for the expedited archives. I’m on my way to get them now.
Fuat: Watch your behavior, or you’ll stay in the archives forever.
Behlul: Of course, sir.
Ferit: Hey, what was that, brother? Why’d you treat her like that? I just wanted to make her laugh.
Fuat: It doesn’t surprise me. Don’t give the staff false signals with your words, Ferit.
Ferit: What words? We were joking around for two minutes. We were just laughing a bit. Why does it bother you? As if you were saving the world here.
Fuat: Well, is that what you think? As if we were saving the world here? Yes, we’re not saving the world, but we work very hard and seriously.
Ferit: I never said I didn’t want to work hard or seriously. Why don’t you calm down a bit? It costs nothing to treat people nicely. Say “good morning,” “good night,” things like that. Nothing will happen. They won’t eat you.
Fuat: I know perfectly well you’re in contact with certain people for certain reasons. Don’t make me start to talk.
Fuat: Oh, working here will be hell. I can tell.
Fuat: Have a good day.
Ferit: You, too.
Ferit turns to check out his surroundings.
Inside his office, we see Halis working at a table. There is a knock. He tells them to enter.
Ferit walks in with a book and papers, telling them they came from Mr. Sadik. Halis indicates for him to put the things on his desk.
Halis walks over to Ferit and asks how he is doing.
Halis: Do you think you can adjust to it?
Ferit: Yes, Grandfather, there’s no problem.
Halis makes a face: The real problem is that you don’t see any problem.
Ferit joins him in a laugh.
Halis continues: I’ll tell Sadik to pressure you a bit more.
Ferit: Of course, Grandfather, you can tell him. But I need to ask you a favor first. Would you allow me to leave for a couple of hours, just for today? It will be quick and it’s very important.
Halis: What’s so important, son, tell me.
Ferit doesn’t speak at first and Halis tells him to go ahead.
Ferit: Well, Grandfather, I’m very aware of all the problems I’ve caused lately. And you know that my relationship with Seyran’s not very good. I haven’t been able to talk to anyone about this. It’s strange, but you are the only one I can talk to about it. You see, Grandfather, I need our relationship to take a better path.
Halis: Look, Ferit, first off, it makes me very happy you came to speak with me with such sincerity. I told you before, don’t talk to anyone but me. I should know. No one else matters. Tell me, what is your plan?
Ferit: It’s not too clear for now, Grandfather. I’ve got a few plans in mind, but they’re not certain. Once I have my plan straight, I’ll come and tell you.

Halis has an interesting expression here. I can’t tell if he thinks this is BS, or if he really buys it.
Hallis: Never. First, tell me from the beginning, and I’ll tell you if you’re down the right path or not. Sit down and tell me.
Ferit: So, I’ll tell you, Grandfather. Don’t get mad at me.
Halis: I’m listening, Ferit.
Ferit: Well, I was thinking…
At the Sanli residence, Hattice and Kazim are in their living room. Hattice asks Kazim what’s bothering him.
Hattice: Why are you pacing like a flea-ridden dog? [Great description of Kazim!]
Kazim: I have something important to do. Remember that land? We’re going to find its market value.
Hattice: You’re going to sell it before buying it?
Kazim: No! Not selling. What changed when we sold everything in our hometown?
Hattice snaps: I don’t understand what you’re saying.
Kazim: Look, no selling, but I’m not going to do nothing either. That land’s worthless if it just sits there idle. Do you know the kid downstairs that handles everything? The concierge? He will be bringing me someone. When he found out about the land, he said, “I can handle it. I’ll bring you an expert!”
Hattice: You keep bringing strangers home.
Kazim: Well, what can I do? I don’t have an office like in Antep. Besides, it’s good to show off. The expert should come to see this apartment, see our house, our style. He should look at our TV. It’s good to show off!
Kazim takes a long look at Hattice, apparently annoyed at her appearance.
He says to himself: Seriously? I’m going crazy. He finally asks: Where are you going, all dressed up?
Hattice: Esme and I are going to get air. I don’t need your permission.
Kazim: Well, you can go, but I don’t get why you’re taking Esme. What am I going to do, alone like a corpse? We’re going to have guests.
Hattice: We’ll serve the guests and go. You should go get some air, too. I’m sick of you meddling in my business. Meddle in your own!
Hattice walks off in a huff, leaving Kazim. He tells her she can go, but not to be too late.
The doorbell rings. Kazim yells for Esme to answer the door. She tells him she’s on her way. She opens the door, and it’s two men. She welcomes them and they walk to Kazim.
One is the concierge, Metin, who tells Kazim the other man is the expert Hamdi, the investment and evaluation expert he told Kazim about. Metin presents Kazim, and Kazim’s eyebrow raises as he waits for the correction: Pardon, this is Kazim Aga.
Hamdi shakes his hand and says it is a pleasure, Mr. Kazim.
Kazim: Hamdi, listen, I think you’re too young. Have you done this before?
Hamdi: Don’t worry about my looks. I’ve been working at a renowned firm for years. Metin (concierge) is my friend from the army. When he asked me, I couldn’t say no. If you like, I personally will do the business, regardless of the sector. We’ll found the business together. You’ll be the boss and majority investor. You have funds. I have contacts and experience.
Kazim: But what?
Hamdi: Don’t worry about my looks. I have experience in the market.
Kazim, suddenly very interested: Really, son?
Hamdi: Of course, I’m saying, instead of associating with my boss, we can be our own bosses. Like I said before, even if you make a deal with my boss, I handle those projects. Why tackle the hard road?
Kazim laughs: Metin, you’re my man! You’re right. Why take the hard way? We can do it. I like you Hamdi. I like you too, Metin. Well done. Drink your coffee.

Suna sits in the window looking out while Seyran is trying to make a phone call. She finds the phone blocked. Suna tells her he must be busy in a meeting.
Seyran: What kind of meeting would there be? He’s only been there two days. Seyran says that he must be going out with a girl from work. I’m sure women are following him around at work. And Ferit has his habits. Maybe I should go see him.
Suna: Look at my sister, worrying about him! You can’t be away from him.
Seyran: What are you talking about? Of course not! It’s Ferit. I know him. I’m just trying to keep him under control. Well, look, neither this marriage nor this house can handle anymore of Ferit’s nonsense.
Suna agrees: If you’re worried, call Mr. Fuat and ask him.
Seyran: Of course not. He’d let Ferit know immediately. What matters is what he does if he suddenly sees me. His reaction, tense or happy, would let me know immediately.
Suna: That man, Ferit, has changed you so much. You wouldn’t do this normally.
Seyran, pushing away from Suna: I can’t deal with you right now. I’m going. You’re annoying me. I’ll take a taxi to the office, but Suna, don’t tell anyone I’m seeing him.
Suna: Go on, don’t let me think your husband’s single.
Seyran: It’s enough that my husband knows he’s not free.
Suna: But what do I say if someone asks?
Seyran: What should you say? Tell them I’m trying to make up with Ferit. I went to buy him a present. I don’t know what else to say.
Suna: Don’t forget your phone.
Seyran: Well, I’ll tell Mr. Latif.
Upon leaving, Seyran finds Gulgun at the door. Seyran asks if she is going out. She tells her yes, that she has things to do. Gulgun asks about her. Is she on her way to her room?
Seyran: No, I’m also going out a bit.
Gulgun: What for?
Seyran: I want to surprise Ferit. I’m going to look for some gifts. We can call on the way back and return together.
Gulgun, declining Seyran’s invitation: You are so sweet, but I have a lot of things to do. What do you want to give Ferit?
Seyran: I have a few things in mind. I’ll decide. But I’ll show you when you get back, don’t worry.
Gulgun: It’s so nice to see you so happy and excited after so much time. Look, buy my son something nice. (Seyran nods.) Ferit loves getting gifts, you know? He doesn’t show it, but he’s loved it since he was a kid.
Seyran: I didn’t know. I’ll look for something better.
They exchange good will and head in different directions.
Halis is at his desk looking at some numbers and documents. He stops at something puzzling.
There is a knock, and he says “Come in.” It’s his assistant with pistachio coffee. He tells her he appreciates it. He asks if she was able to handle the other issue. She smiles: Orhan and your grandson, Fuat, know about the meeting. I let them know you are letting Ferit leave at the meeting time.
Halis: Did you send the car back?
She asks: Are you going to ask about all my tasks? Do you want me to check if the car has gas?
Halis: Excuse me. In the autumn of my life, only one flower dares to bloom, and this could wither if I’m not careful. Then all I’d have are petals, like a distant memory.
Her reply: Spring will come, and that flower will bloom again, because its strong and won’t wither. Enjoy!
Halis smiles as he watches her leave the room.

Fuat goes into Orhan’s office.
Fuat: Grandfather’s gone over the records over a thousand times. Ferit hasn’t stopped bringing him archives.
Orhan: It will be fine. Not even Sadik has noticed.
Fuat: I think you should talk to Ferit. Tell him to stop showing the archives. What’ll happen if Grandfather finds out about the decisions we made?
Orhan: Fuat! I already told you we shouldn’t talk about this here.
Fuat insists: We should at least tell Ferit. He’d help us. I’m sure he’ll accept.
Orhan: Never. We can’t drag him into this.
Fuat frowns: You dragged me into it. I really don’t understand why you favor Ferit like this.
Orhan: Fuat. Do you think we can trust Ferit? Are you sure that he won’t tell his wife tomorrow, and possibly ruin everything we’ve achieved with the company so far?
Fuat: I don’t know. He’s the golden boy of this house. I’m sure you’d forgive him.
Orhan: He’s not the golden boy of the house that your grandfather would like to have. You know what he wants.
Fuat: I understand, Father. Everything goes to my wife not being able to have kids.
Orhan: It’s sad. But it’s important to him.
Fuat: And what about you, Father? When Ferit has a kid, will you feel the same as Grandfather?
Orhan: Fuat, I think you should take a vacation. You’re not thinking clearly, you’re tense. You could make a mistake. Am I clear? (Fuat nods.) Now, if you don’t mind, I need to finish before the meeting starts.
Orhan opens his laptop and starts to read, leaving Fuat to sit there for a while and then leave.
Seyran walks into the Korhan building. She takes a deep breath and tells the receptionist she needs to see her husband, Ferit. She asks her not to announce her because she wants to surprise him.
The receptionist apologizes that she didn’t recognize her. She tells her Ferit is not there; he left ten minutes earlier. She offers to call someone upstairs. Seyran tells her she will call him now and thanks her.
Ferit is waiting in a restaurant when she calls. He answers.
Seyran: I called you several times, Ferit, but your phone was off.
He covers his mouth, pretending he is unable to have the phone on because he is at the office. He tells her Mr. Sadik just stepped out, and he turned it on for a second.
Seyran: Hmm, where are you now?
Ferit: Where do you think, Seyran? I’m working on 1,000 records.
Seyran: Are you in the office? Tell me, do you like working now? Who are you with now?
Ferit: Why all the questions? I’m in the archives office. Mr. Sadik doesn’t like me talking. Grandfather asked me to bring him a box full of records to his office, so I have hardly any free time. I’ll call you when I get the chance.
Seyran: OK.
Ferit: Sending you kisses. Goodbye.
He hangs up and looks very pleased with himself.
Seyran dials Fuat and greets him. He comes down to meet with her. He asks how he can help her. She tells him she came to surprise Ferit, but it looks like he left and he’s not here. Fuat tells her she can wait upstairs.
She thinks for a bit.
Seyran: Do you know where he is, Fuat? Where did he go?
Fuat tells her he has no idea: All I know is Grandfather gave him permission.
Seyran is starting to suspect something’s up. She thinks about what to do next.

Fuat tells her he can find out if she wants to know. She tells him she does, but not to tell anyone she is there.
Fuat tells her to wait there and he will find out. He asks the receptionist if she knows where Ferit is. She replies that he went to the restaurant across the street with a woman.
Fuat goes back to Seyran: Ferit went to the restaurant, and it seems he’s accompanied. I only asks that you don’t tell him I told you where he is.
Seyran nods: Fine, thank you.
Her face is full of sadness. Fuat watches as she heads toward the restaurant.
In the restaurant, Ferit and a woman are enjoying a chat. They are making a deal. Seyran sees them from outside, looking in the window. She decides to call Ferit. He chooses not to answer. Now she is looking mad.
Ferit and the mystery lady are enjoying small talk.
Seyran texts him: Can you call me now? It’s urgent, please.
He excuses himself and calls Seyran. She again asks where she is. He tells her that he already told her, he’s working with Mr. Sadik. What’s the urgency? He tells her she is exaggerating. Seyran says: You’re working, fine. Can you pass the phone to Mr. Sadik, please.
Ferit: Seyran, this is ridiculous, please.
Seyran: Ferit, I want to talk to Sadik.
Ferit: What are you saying? Sadik’s going to scold me. Have you gone crazy, Seyran?
Seyran: I’m not crazy. I just want you to be honest.
Ferit: It’s best if we talk later. I have something to do, but I’ll call you in a bit.
She takes a deep breath and walks into the restaurant.
Seyran: If you have something to do, you can say it to my face.
Ferit looks like he’s been caught, and the woman he is with has a small smile at the situation.
Ferit: I don’t know what explanation to give you now.
Seyran: I want you to try, without lying. I asked you where you were, several times, and you told me you were really busy working. But now, Mr. Ferit, you’re here with this old lady.
Ferit: Seyran, you’re being rude.
Seyran: I suppose I am. (to the woman) Old lady, a pleasure. I’m this man’s wife, madame. Yes. He’s married, but I suppose you don’t care, right? Because this wouldn’t be your first time.
Ferit stands up: Come with me. We have to talk.
Seyran: I won’t go anywhere with you. What are you doing here? What are you doing with this woman? Can I ever be calm like a normal person? Can I ever trust you, Ferit?
All of a sudden, Gulgun approaches the table.
Gulgun: Seyran, what are you doing here? Is there a problem? Did something bad happen?
Seyran: Ms. Gulgun, uh, you didn’t tell me you were going out with Ferit. You said you were going on errands.
Gulgun: I didn’t tell you because Ferit had a surprise planned for you. I got so excited to know he wanted to spoil you with such a romantic gesture.
Seyran, impactada, looks at Ferit.
Ferit apologizes to the woman, telling her he’s sorry if they’ve offended her. She tells him not to worry.
Gulgun tells Seyran: Ms. Izel is the director of an association that helps girls in need, and a very important businesswoman, well respected in the media for her great charitable works. (to Ms. Izel). This is Seyran, Ferit’s wife.
Ms. Izel: It’s a pleasure.
Seyran: I made a mistake. Forgive me. I’m ashamed. I’m so sorry.
Gulgun: Ferit spoke with his grandfather and gave him persmission. We’re going to sponsor educations for girls in need.
Ferit: That’s right. Now I’ll go back to work, and Seyran will go back with you, now that there’s no surprise to give.

Gulgun: Izel, forgive me. I suppose it was a misunderstanding.
Ferit and Seyran are at the door.
Ferit: Why did you do this, Seyran? You’ve gotten used to being aggressive. You should behave yourself, or I’ll teach you a lesson.
She looks at him with tears in her eyes: Watch how you talk to me.
Ferit: You watch how you behave, then I’ll watch how I talk to you.
Seyran: This is your fault, Ferit. Don’t you see? I act this way because of what you’ve put me through. Look what I’ve become. Don’t you see? I’m here because of you.
Ferit: Seyran, look. I’m going to tolerate it this time, maybe another, but I won’t be able to control myself the third time. Understood? Don’t do this again. Don’t suffocate me. Stop calling me. Stop making me feel like I’m being watched all the time. Understood? Am I clear?
Seyran: If you want that, you have to earn my trust. I’m also tired. Very tired. I can’t fix our problems alone. It’s a process that takes time, and you know it. You say this is how you act. Well, this is how I act. Understand that. You made me untrusting. You shouldn’t hurt me like that.
Ferit: What will you do, Seyran? What are you planning? What’ll happen? I try to do the right thing, but you want to put me on trial for life. Is that what you’ll do?
Seyran: I won’t do anything. You’re the one who’ll do that. You’ll have to win my trust.
Farit: That’s not my responsibility. Either you do or don’t trust me. You should decide, OK?
He walks out of the restaurant.
Outside, his phone rings. It’s Pelin wondering if he’s available. He replies, maybe. He asks if she is OK. She tells him her mother bought a ticket and is flying in tomorrow.
Ferit: I can’t believe it, Pelin.
Pelin: Your mom talked to her yesterday, and she thought it was urgent. My mom thought I couldn’t pack by myself, but it’s not as hard as she thought. Look, you handle your mother and your wife. If you can’t handle it, let me know so I can prepare.
Ferit: Pelin, look, really I’m sorry for what happened.
Pelin: You’re not the only one. I have never felt so alone and insignificant in my entire life!
Ferit: It’d not like that, Pelin.
Pelin: Now that my mom knows, I’m very ashamed. I can’t tell anyone. You don’t understand how this feels. Ferit, really, you don’t care. It was all so easy for you.
Ferit: Why do you say that? You know that’s not true.
Pelin: Didn’t you know? You really don’t know?
Ferit: I know I’ve been acting crazy lately.
Pelin: That doesn’t matter, Ferit. Listen, if you ever loved me once, I beg you not to come close to me. Please.
She hangs up and Ferit looks at his phone, very impactado.
Esme and Hattice enter the Korhan building where a Halis’s assistant is waiting for them. She greets Hattice and introduces herself to Esme. She tells them she is there to receive them.
Hattice: He just went back to work and now he has an assistant?
She replies that she worked for him many years ago. And she adds that he heard many things about Hattice.
They follow the assistant into the building.
Hattice: What is she talking about? What could Halis have told her about me?
Esme: Aunt, now I see you knew him very well, once upon a time.
Hattice tells Esme to be quiet.
Hattice: When I was young, Halis would come to the house. He was a family friend. What’s wrong about that?
Esme: Nothing wrong. I’m sure this is normal. But don’t worry, I’m very discreet. Ms. Mehves, excuse me, I don’t want to bother Mr. Halis in his office, now that he’s meeting with Ms. Hattice. Is it possible for me to have some tea in the plaza or a terrace? Then I can wait and give them privacy.

Ms. Mehves says that will be easy to do.
Halis is pacing in his office. There’s a knock, and Hattice enters. Both Hattice and Halis look years younger, all of a sudden!
Halis: Welcome, Hattice.
Mehves tells Halis that Ms. Esme is on the terrace and that she’ll bring their coffee right away. She takes Hattice’s overcoat.
Halis: Please, sit down.
They sit together on the sofa.
Hattice: I didn’t make you wait too long?
Halis: This is nothing when I’ve waited a lifetime. I’ve waited every hour of my life, but I still owe you everything I feel, Hattice.
Hattice: I assure you, no one can cover what the heart feels. Sometimes, a coin is with an entire fortune. [This saying might mean a coin may be covered by a fortune, but it’s like the heart and can’t be hidden.]
Halis reaches for her hand. She smiles at him.
Gulgun and Seyran are in a vehicle taking them home. Seyran is looking down. Gulgun is watching her.
Gulgun: Let it go, Seyran.
Seyran:: I feel so ashamed. I humiliated myself in front of you!
Gulgun: I’d like to console you, but this time was strange. Don’t you trust Ferit yet?
Seyran: I don’t know how.
Gulgun: Have you tried? (Seyran nods.) I suppose you tried as hard as you could, but the key isn’t to try it, but to have trust. [She sounds like Yoda here: don’t try, do!]. You have to believe in him. That’s what marriage is about, no matter how hard you try. He can’t stop himself, and he doesn’t care. That’s how they are. Am I making sense? I can tell you’re in his heart, believe me.
Seyran turns toward Gulgun.
Gulgun: Try not to drive him away from you. Now that he thinks about you, leave him a bit. Don’t make him feel suffocated. Look, I know you’re going through a rough patch, but you have to believe him and give him trust.
Seyran: I know. I get what you’re saying. I’m trying, really.
Gulgun: It’s hard, I get it. But I know you can do it.
Seyran: But listen, I don’t ask the impossible. I just don’t want him to lie. I’m not asking for anything other than honesty! I don’t know when he’s telling the truth.
Gulgun: Honey, Ferit is facing new things. Marriage, starting a family and being a husband must be very difficult for him. And that’s his release. Listen to my advice, don’t expect his habits to change overnight. It’s unfair. She takes Seyran’s hand. If he sees you finally trust him, then you could see a new Ferit. I’m sure of it.
Seyran looks at Gulgun and nods.
That evening, Ferit enters his attic suite. Seyran is standing there and says, “Welcome.”
He thanks her.
Seyran: Ferit, forgive me. I made a mistake.
They look at one another.
End of Episode 65.
Babachita
Good to hear from you, novelera. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Already missing your recaps and comments.
Thank you, Babachita!
“Like a tactless dog (meaning Latif). [This seems an odd phrase…]” Ifakat called him “arsız köpek” more like shameless or impudent dog. Don’t know if that’s any better.
Ugh, Ferit, adding Pelo back. I know this came up later in the ep, but they left this out when Ferit called Pelo. She told him that Gulgun called her mother and asked when they were returning from abroad. Ferit had no idea his mom did this. Pelo has always been worried about her family finding out about their relationship.
What Mehves called pistachio coffee for Halis was actually menengiç. https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/20251219-menengic-turkeys-ancient-caffeine-free-coffee-alternative
In the Turkish when Fuat spoke to the receptionist and told Seyran where Ferit went, we didn’t hear what was said. I’m not great at lip reading Turkish but apparently Telemundo is. And Seyran didn’t call that woman an “old lady”. She just said “that or this woman”.
Edit: Pelo is unpacking in her new apartment. She still has some of Ferit’s things. A hoodie… a robe…framed photos from happier times. She gets teary. Then she calls Ferit. They edited this out: She told Ferit, when you get mad at your wife, your grandfather, your parents… don’t come to my door. You don’t think about the effect it has on me. If you want me to be okay, if you want me to forgive all the things you’ve done, stay away. Do it for me.
Lol, Hattuc’s reaction to meeting Mehves. Maybe jealous at first and then embarrassed when Mehves said she heard a lot about her.
Translation from Turkish: Hattuc asks, did I make you wait long? Halis replies, I made you wait all your life. Is it possible for you to say such a thing? Even if I wait for you for the rest of my life, you’ll still have the right, Hatice. She answers, the heart does not consider such matters, Halis. Sometimes a dram turns into a thousand ingots.
Lol, Gulgun “sounds like Yoda”. Seyran and Gulgun’s relationship is priceless. I suppose Gulgun was speaking from experience with Orhan. She said that sometimes Ferit lies so as not to upset anyone. It’s his habit.
I'll do the recap for #66 sometime this weekend.
Thank you, Dondi! Your knowledge of Turkish is so valuable. Impudent or shameless works better than tactless. I love the dram turning into ingots! Makes a good proverb.
The menengic sounds delicious. I have a recollection from a past dizi where the galan makes a drink that might be menengic. Might have been Kemal in AE. Anyway, the handsome man producing the delicious looking coffee or hot chocolate or menengic for his beloved has stayed with me.
Mexicans often call random women vieja so I assumed it was a translation from the Spanish. It seemed pretty rude, so I’m glad that’s not what she said.
Thank you again. We have a much broader understanding of this fascinating culture from you!!!
Babachita
Thanks Babachita. Gulgun and her advice to Seyran is probably how she has dealt with her doubts about Orhan (and it just recently dawned on me that his name is Orhan Korhan, is Orhan a common Turkish name or a nickname based on his last name?) throughout their marriage.
Just when I feel sorry for Pelin again, admire her resolve to cut Ferit from her life, asks him to stop calling, etc, she goes and gets a new number and calls him. No wonder Seyran has trust issues.
OT
Dondi, I did find the second season on Dailymotion. I have no idea how to download the episodes! When I watch on my tablet the feed goes black after the commercial break so I have to exit the app, search for the episode again (it rarely saves my search history) and start the show again as I off to the spot it quit on me! I have better luck on my phone, but I don't love watching on such a small screen. I downloaded the app to my TV with an older roku box, and it literally finds nothing when I search for Golden boy or poder y tracion.. Do you download to a computer and then watch? I have one last TV to try, but that's the one my husband uses so I would only be able to commandeer it on Saturday mornings while he works...
Anastasia, I've tried it every way. Anything I look for I get "search result not found". The roku device is at nearly years old. I've tried reinstalling the app and I get no results so I guess I may as well delete it from this TV.
Kat, Orhan Korhan is his name. I know, the rhyming sounds funny. Orhan is a very important historical Turkish name. Orhan was the son of Osman, the founder of the Ottoman Empire. He did a lot to expand the Empire.
In Dailymotion, more Yali Capkini eps with English subtitles come up when you search under Golden Boy. When I searched for Yali Capkini a version came up with subtitles but no sound.
Bilibili has all the episodes with English subs and no ads. We can't view those in the US. You would need a VPN and find a server from another country that allows access to view.
I discovered that YouTube has Yali Capkini episodes combined into 4 hour segments. They have the auto translate option available. Those translations are really hit or miss but maybe better than nothing.
For downloading I use 4K Video Downloader. It has a free version that works well for what I need. It will DL from YouTube and Dailymotion. It will DL from Bilibili if you get access.
I have YouTube TV so I'm recording Golden that way and watch on my big screen TV. For the Turkish eps I watch on my laptop. I don't own a cell phone. I wouldn't even be able to watch on such a small device anyway. I don't know how anyone can do that without eye strain. And I'm amazed that you can do a recap on one!
Good luck with your viewing if you decide to go forward. But we'll stay on track here with the Telemundo eps, and stick with no spoilers till the end.
Once we finish #113, I'd be willing to continue a discussion of some sort on the second season that starts with Turkish ep #37. We've got a nice system in place for watching and discussing KPA on the daytime page. Maybe we could follow something like that. It's difficult to maintain a lively discussion when we are all over the place in viewing. I'm open to suggestions.
More one-handed typing. FOUR GOALS!!! The Athletic used the word "dominant". Dare we hope for the quarterfinals?
I just started ep 47 on Daily Motion. Turkish with Eng subtitles that aren’t great, but they work. The ads are annoying, but I could see watching one Turkish length of these a week once we catch up. Besides, we get to hear Kazim in full-Antep Turkish!
Dondi, you said you download these?
Babachita
Novelera, the USA did look good. I follow many teams. Right now I’m waiting for Brazil to play!
Oh, and SA SPURS tonight.
Babachita
I am a huge fan of the "beautiful game", so I am in heaven every 4 years when the World Cup starts. But I will go on record to say I am not a huge fan of US soccer. We have a crappy system in place and Americans care more about the NFL and NBA. Even my beloved baseball takes a backseat now. I don't know if we will ever overcome this to become dominant in the sport.
That being said, the US did look good last night. First goal was a Paraguay own goal. Hate to see that. Quarterfinals? Possible.
Babachita, 37 or 47? I watched 37 and part of 38. 2 plus hours each takes a while especially when I keep having to close the app and search for it again. I agree the CC's are rough.
Thanks Dondi. I had typed a reply but apparently I didn't hit Post. I'd certainly enjoy contused recapping of this in the future.
Yes, I download episodes. I use 4K Video Downloader. The free version is fine for what I do. Then I can watch the episodes when I want and without ads.
I agree the translations are lacking. It helps to know a bit of Turkish. There may be paid sites with better translations. Neyse, it's so much better to hear the actor's voices. Kazim is a hoot. Ferit in Turkish is a treat, too. Love how he teases Seyran, his “karıcığım “.
Time for Game 5.
Congratulations to the New York Knicks for winning their 3rd NBA championship last night. As a lifelong fan of the San Antonio Spurs, it was TOUGH to see my beloved Spurs lose this series SMH.
However, the Spurs will be BACK & they will be winning more NBA championships deep into the future. This is NOT the last time you'll be seeing the Spurs in the NBA Finals.
Was halfway tooting for those charming kids, especially the amazing rookie, Dylan Harper. But great to see the Knicks win after such a long drought. [My God typing with one hand is tedious.]
I agree with Steve. The Spurs are young yet! But a great victory for the Knicks! Very entertaining basketball!!!
