Golden Boy – Yali Capkini – Poder y traicion
Episode 69 #1 of 8
“Patience has its limits”

Zerrin is with Pelin (awaiting Ferit) and tells her she lost Ferit because she always acts like an idiot. Pelin asks her not to start. Zerrin tells them they need to return to Pelin the dignity she lost. She insists that she won’t stop insisting this until she sees it. Pelin tells her she doesn’t understand and that she is tired of being stressed and upset. She tells Zerrin that Ferit must be busy or didn’t want to come. Zerrin tells her they (her parents) must have left her alone for too long. She is now going to take charge and will decide when and where this matter is resolved.

The guys are at a convenience store in Karasu loading up on supplies. Ferit is trying to call Seyran but gets the “away from phone or out of service” message. Abidin tells Ferit they need to get going because Fuat is starting to suspect they are up to something. Fuat is trying to make a call as well. Ferit says he doesn’t know why they aren’t there already and Abidin suggests calling Suna. So, the guys and the girls were going to meet up “by surprise.” Fuat comes out and asks why they are buying so much food. Did he call others to join them? Fuat says whatever it is, he’s in, but just wants to know what’s going on. He does wonder why they have come all this way. Fuat then informs them that he heard inside that there was an accident and the highway is closed, so they should take another route. Both Abidin and Ferit look concerned and ask for more information, but Fuat doesn’t know. This alarms Fuat, who tells the others he is going to call Asuman. Ferit tries but also gets the same notification.

Ferit tells Fuat that they were going to meet up with the girls. Asuman didn’t know it was a “set up,” either. He wanted it to be a surprise. Fuat interrupts him asking him what! Fuat tells them they must be crazy. Ferit tells him Asuman was driving. Fuat informs them that Asuman has only driven on a highway a few times, and that she shouldn’t be driving in this weather. At this time, Abidin comes out and says that the shop owner says that a truck crashed into a car that was being driven by a woman. Now everyone is impactado. They get in the car and head toward the highway.

In his study, Halis is reading some documents and sighing heavily. His chest hurts.

FLASHBACK: Young Hattice is with young Halis. She takes him upstairs into a room and closes the door. She tells him to tell her what he was going to say before her father leaves the bathroom. Halis tells her he heard something and needs to know if it’s true. Is she going to get a marriage proposal?
Hattice: What did you expect? Of course. But, unless I say, “yes,’…
Halis: Jafar (her brother, I think) says he’s serious. He’s going to introduce me to the guy tonight.
Hattice: Don’t worry. The only way I’m leaving here is married to you or dead.
Halis: Don’t say that! I don’t want you doing something crazy.
Hattice: Why would I? Aren’t you going to speak to my brother? How long is this going to continue?
Halis: It’s not that easy. We’ve been friends for years. How can I tell him that I looked at his sister differently whenever I went to his house?
Hattice: You love each other like brothers. In the beginning, sure, he’ll be upset. But eventually his heart will soften. Just tell him. Talk to him, Halis.
They hold hands.

Episode 69 #2 of 8

Back in the present, Halis is suffering pain in his chest and has another flashback.

FLASHBACK:
[This was hard for me because there were several men, but I think this is what happened.]
Halis and several henchies enter a building where two men are eating. They stand when Halis enters.
Jafar: If it isn’t my buddy from Antep. Where have you been, buddy?
Halis looks concerned. The henchies he is standing with remove his jacket.
Jafar comes over and gives him an abrazo and says they had just finished. Halis is greeted respectfully by the other man.
Halis: What’s good enough for my friend is good enough for me.
Jafar says to the other: Have you heard of the man from Antep? He’s a dear friend. We’ve known each other since we were kids. Safet is my uncle’s grandson. Halis nods to Safet and he reciprocates.
Halis gestures to his henchies to leave them. They leave.
The three sit down at the table, Halis, Safet, and Jafar.
Safet: What makes you so famous?
Jafar: He resides in Istanbul now. Whatever it was that he did, in Istanbul, he’s known as the man from Antep. People think twice before saying his name and the bravest of Istanbul’s brave throw him parades whenever they see him. When Halis left, his reputation grew even more.
Halis nods but tells him not to overdo it.
Time passes.
Jafar: So, you came back and found yourself a bride from Antep, isn’t that right, Safet? Let’s not put this off anymore. We’ll choose you and finalize the engagement right away.
Safet: There’s no need for a long engagement. Let’s just get married.
Halis: What’s the rush? You should get to know each other first. That’s the purpose of the engagement.
Safet: Well, we don’t need to get to know each other. That’ll happen over time. If not, I’ll introduce myself. Safet laughs at this, in not a very nice way, IMHO.
Halis looks at him with concern: What do you mean by that?
Safet: That doesn’t matter, sir.
Halis: How about if I introduce you?
Safet tells him to keep talking.
Halis: Your grandfather was a smuggler. That’s where all your wealth comes from. Your father was even worse. He was a moneylender who charged exorbitant interest. He robbed; he stole. And since you couldn’t live here, you moved, because you are worse than either of them. You are a shameless thief, a miserable jerk, and nothing but trash!
Safer: What the hell are you saying?
Halis: This is the right man for your sister?
Jafar: I’m supposed to ask you who’s right for her?
Halis: Yes, if you’re making me share a table with this brazen thug!
Suddenly, they are all standing, yelling, and the table is turned over. Punches are flying. Henchies rush in. Chairs are broken Glasses are broken.
Guns are drawn at the same time, and Halis and Safer (I think) are facing each other in a standoff, with the other guys watching. Jafar is watching both men in alarm. Then a gun goes off.

Halis, in the present, suffers more pain in his chest at this memory. His assistant Mehves comes in.
Mr. Halis, are you OK? I knocked three times, but you didn’t answer.
Halis: I was distracted and didn’t hear you, Mehve. Please come in.
Mehve tells him that Mr. Kazim’s office will be ready tomorrow. He thanks her.
Mehve: if I may say so, this is not something you would’ve authorized in the past.

Episode 69 #3 of 8
Halis: What can I do? Some debts you spend your whole life paying. If Kazim is useless and shameless, it’s because his father died when he was young. Hattice says it’s the same with Ferit. If a dog is without honor, so is his master. My situation is no different. Let’s let him stay.
[So, apparently Jafar was killed when the gun went off in that standoff years before. Kazim would be his now fatherless son and Hattice’s nephew.]
Mehve: Also, Ms. Hattice has been coming to visit you more often. Anything else you need from me, sir?
Halis hands her a document: I asked for this payment to be reimbursed, but they’re not answering in Accounting.
Mehve: I’ll talk to Sadik.
Halis: The Sadik I knew would never have let this happen. He didn’t even give me a response.
Mehve: We’ve all gotten old, Mr. Halis. You know, before computers, things were much easier. It’s better to keep records by hand.
Halis: Find out what’s going on. There must be an explanation and a signature for a transfer like this. And whose company is that. Investigate but tell no one.
Mehde: Don’t worry, I’ll investigate and discover the truth. There must be an explanation.

The guys are on the highway. Ferit can’t get Seyran on the phone. Fuat has gotten hold of a contact, Cem, who is going to keep him informed. Abidin tells Fuat and Ferit to calm down. They tell Abidin to be quiet and drive.

Now we are at the accident scene. The girls are trying to get the car out of the mud. All three are fine, having worn their seatbelts, just frustrated at the car. They can’t get a signal on their phones. Asuman apologizes to the sisters. She tells them the car just skidded and then she lost control. Seyran notices something (oil on the road?) that suggests there was an earlier accident there, which might have affected the condition of the road. They tell Asuman not to worry. Seyran tells them someone will come for them soon. Suna tells them if they wait a little longer, Abidin will be there. Asuman asks why would that be. Seyran tells her not to get upset, but they will be coming for them. She tells Asuman that Fuat doesn’t know anything, but they were trying to give the two of them a place they could talk together in peace. Asuman tells Seyran she is so happy and hugs her. The sisters look at each other, very relieved.
Asuman: I didn’t want you to notice, but I was very scared. I’ll never drive this car again. Those days are over. We’re OK?
Just then, the guys arrive.
Ferit embraces Seyran and Fuat embraces Asuman. They are relieved that they are all OK. Ferit tells Seyran they heard there was an accident. He was so afraid she was hurt. Fuat sniffles, telling Asuman he thought something had happened to her because of him. She tells him she is fine. Abidin and Suna speak but have to be careful not to reveal their relationship. Abidin asks her if she is OK. She tells him she is fine, but that’s the last time she will ride in a car driven by Asuman.
Abidin: It’s easy to be afraid, but hard to hide it from others.
Suna: Staying away from you when you’re so close to me is also hard.
Abidin has a sly smile now.
Abidin and Ferit set about getting the car out of the ditch.

Episode 69 #4 of 8

Back at the yali, Ifakat is striding on the patio toward the door. She enters and exclaims at how peaceful the house is. Gulgun attributes this to Latif. She tells Ifakat that he unburdened you of a great weight. [Meaning, I think, the heavy responsibility of carrying out Halis’s desires.]
Carlos comes to announce Gulgun’s guest. She thanks him and asks him to serve tea. Ifakat wants to know who the guest is. Gulgun tells her Defne has something important to discuss. Gulgun welcomes Defne and so does Ifakat. Defne asks if they are alone. Gulgun says they are. If she was asking about Seyran, she is with Ferit. Defne makes a little face and sits down.
Defne: And how’d they manage that? I thought she was always leaving and disobeying her husband.
Gulgun: What’s that got to do with anything? They are young and in love. They can do whatever they want.
Defne: Of course, but Seyran should be more consistent. How did you convince her to give up this collaboration?
Ifakat: She did?
Gulgun: That’s right. She quit voluntarily. You have to respect that.
Defne: What’s up, Gulgun? Do you realize the huge opportunity that Seyran’s missing out on? Think about it. She can’t quit right now.
Gulgun: Are we supposed to force her? When she wanted to do it, I supported her. Now that she’s having second thoughts, I still support her as I did before,.
Ifakat: If you’d come to us first, you would’ve known that it couldn’t work.
Defne: Really? Seems like all the women in this family should stay at home like you two did. You’re nothing but ornaments here, not permitted to work or go out with complete freedom. And forget about loving yourselves. This family has norms.
Ifakat: It took you years to understand that didn’t it?
Defne: In case you didn’t know, businesses have rules too. Seyran signed a contract, the creations were made based off her preferences. People have invested in this business. This isn’t some child’s game.
Gulgun: What are you trying to say, Defne? What do you expect us to do?
Ifakat: If that were so, why didn’t you call Orhan? Talk to him, not us.
Defne gives a small grin.
Gulgun: Ifakat!
Defne: Yes, I’m old friends with Orhan. As the three of us know, he and I had a past. What I don’t understand is why me speaking to Orhan would upset you so. Gulgun is a grown woman. Doesn’t she have her own life?
Gulgun tells them to stop: Defne, you seem a bit tired. If there’s a problem to be worked out, the lawyers will handle it. And if any damage was done, you’ll be compensated. I doubt you want to drag this matter out.
Defne: Wrong. You’re very wrong. You don’t know what you’re talking about. Anyway, if this is what you want, get ready for what’s coming. Your family’s punishment will be that they lose prestige.
Defne leaves, but Ifakat tells her she should stay, that they have tea.
Defne still walks out the door.

The young folks continue on their way until they reach their original destination, a sort of fancy woodland complex. It looks like a cabin in a resort. Asuman tells Seyran that they should leave them to make their own decisions. Seyran suggests this place would be good for that. They girls start talking about preparing food. But Ferit interrupts and tells that tonight will be special. He lights up as he usually does when he’s bringing about some of his magic. Asuman tells them if they followed them, the guys should be the ones who cook. Ferit grins and tells Seyran she misses his cooking. He tells them they are in for a treat. Fuat tells him he will change first.
Then we see the girls relaxing and the guys starting to barbeque. Suna helps Abidin move the table. Everyone is relaxed and smiling. The group of six enjoy their meal and then play games.

Episode 69 #5 of 8
The games are question and answer situations which look like they will embarrass the participant, but there’s always another answer. For example, asking who makes Suna all flustered, might be Abdin, but the answer is Ifakat. They end up giggling. Then things get seirous when Ferit asks Asuman the happiest day of her life. Fuat answers it’s their wedding day.
Fuat: That day made up for everything bad that ever happened to me. All the pain I ever felt vanished in a flash.
Asuman is full of tears.
Seyran tells Ferit they should put their room in order. Suna goes to do the dishes with Abidin.
This leaves Fuat and Asuman alone.

At the yali, Sefika is serving Yusuf and food.
Yusuf: Don’t serve me more food, I’m going to burst.
Sefika: What do you expect, Yusuf? What am I going to do with all this food? You have to eat double now, because I say so.
Latif enters: What’s going on? Why are you shouting?
Sefika: Six people form this yali didn’t have lunch. Nobody appreciates my work enough to tell me.
Latif: What does it matter how many people are home? Do they need your permission to leave? Just worry about cooking!
Sefika: I don’t understand you, sir. Call it old age or incompetence, but I can’t go on like this. At this rate, I’ll speak to Mr. Halis about my problem.
Yusuf is listening to this.
Latif: I thought money was the problem. Now it’s this? What’s next, you ungrateful person?
Sefika: You’re too hard on me, Mr. Latif. You’re as old as I am, and you’ve been in this house as long as I have.
Yusuf continues listening.
Sefika continues: Who do you think you are to scold me like a child?
Latif: You listen to Ms. Sultan far too much. Watch it, that’s all I’ll say.
Latif walks out. Yusuf gets up and walks to Sefika.
Yusuf: Sefika, don’t take this the wrong way, but Sultan likes to add fuel to the fire. Don’t listen to her.
Sefika: She’s right. She speaks the truth. They’re going to find out who I am too.
Carlos walks in.
Sefika: If this continues, I’ll tell Mr. Halis. I promise. If they upset me, they’ll see what I’m capable of. You are my witness, you too, Carlos.
Carlos: That’s right, Sefika. Fight for our rights.
Sefika starts laughing: Did everyone else eat?
Carlos: Of course, Dicle and Sultan are coming now.
Sefika nudges Carlos and smiles. The tension is lowered.

In the living room, Gulgun asks if Ifakat is going to talk to her. Both Gulgun and Orhan look at Ifakat.
Ifakat: Don’t look at me. I’ll never help anyone in this house again. Especially Seyran.
Orhan: This isn’t about Seyran. Dad should listen to us, not to the lawyers.
Ifakat: Can’t you fix it with him?
Orhan: We’re talking about Efe Han. He’s not interested in money. He’s obviously angry and is trying to upset us, that’s all.
Gulgun: Defne’s right about that. You’re acting like children about this.

Episode 69 #6 of 8
Orhan thinks a bit: Maybe it would be best if Dad handled it.
Ifakat: What do you mean?
Orhan: That Dad can take care of this. It’ll distract him. Wouldn’t that be good for us? Gulgun knows. I told her.
Gulgun: I won’t say anything. I just hope something good comes from all of it.
Ifakat: It wasn’t my idea. When I found out, your husband and son had already decided.
Orhan: Regardless, Dad can’t hear any of this.
Gulgun: What will you do? Do you have a plan?
Orhan: I finessed the records of certain transactions on purpose so that he’d see them. I wanted to divert his attention, and it appears that it worked.
Ifakat: So you deceived him on purpose?
Orhan: What else could I do? Just sit on my hands, Ifakat?
Gulgun: Well planned. You did well. Pressure him even more. Exhaust him. Soon he’ll quit.
Ifakat snorts: What are you talking about, Gulgun? Do you hear yourself? What you’re saying is serious.
Gulgun: I’m aware of everything, and I know what’s going on. He’s too old to keep working at the rate he has been. Soon he’ll get tired of everything and return to his dark little corner.
Orhan is nodding: I agree, there’s no other way. If he makes a mistake and makes certain wrong decisions, he’ll quit on his own. We can make that happen faster.
Ifakat: Are you aware of what you’re saying? We’re talking about Mr. Halis.
Orhan: What else can we do? Wait here like idiots? As long as Dad is at the company, we’re all hanging by a thread.
Gulgun: I have a question. Financially, what would happen in the worst case scenario?
Orhan: You don’t need to worry about any scenario. This matter has nothing to do with money. Dad cannot find out about this. We’ve taken this measure for what happens after he dies. It’s nothing against him.
Gulgun: I hope he never finds out. If he does, we’ll have to pray he doesn’t believe what you do.

Ferit and Seyran are close together in an upstairs room at the cabin. Ferit kisses her cheek: I think we could find a place near here to spend the night. What do you say?
Seyran: Stop it, Ferit. We’re here for your brother and Asuman. Enough.
Ferit: But we’re giving them time alone. And us. (He moves in closer.)
Seyran: Ferit, no, stop it!
Ferit: I don’t understand you. What’s wrong with what I’m asking? Look around you. The environment’s ideal. The place, the lighting. I can breathe the romance. I even feel the stars.
[He is so charming!]
Seyran: You’re such an idiot!
She sits on the bed. He tells her he is running out of patience, that she is overreacting.
Seyran: I’m not overreacting.
They argue about this back and forth.
Ferit: At this rate, we’re going to fight again. He angrily tells her to do what she wants.

Outside, Fuat and Asuman are talking. Fuat asks if she is going to say something.
Asuman: I don’t feel like there’s anything to say.
Fuat: What do you mean? You almost left only because of an argument.
Asuman: Discussion or fight? That’s our problem. We can’t argue about anything.
Fuat: Neither of us ever relents. We’re not used to this.
Asuman: It will be the same as it always is. We both know that divorce is for the best. Especially for you.

Episode 69 #7 of 8
Fuat: You can’t blame me for this, hon. Don’t say you made this decision for my own good.
Asuman: No, I’m making it for my good too. Don’t worry. I’m very unhappy in that mansion. I feel useless, and I don’t want that. I thought that becoming a mother would change my life, that I’d have a purpose. That’s why I never did anything up to now. But we can’t have children, and I don’t want to live such an aimless life in that mansion.
Fuat: That’s the problem?
Asuman: Yes. For you, fatherhood is a natural right. I feel like I’m taking it from you. It’s unavoidable that I’d feel guilty about it.
Fuat: Please don’t say that Asuman. I couldn’t have kids with you feeling like this anyway, and I’d be just as sad as I am now. Yes, I’m very sad, but I’ve done nothing for you to feel responsible. Because neither of us is. Life is to blame. Even though it can be beautiful, there’s an unpleasantness to it.
Asuman: That’s right. This will always be hard on you. It will always work against one. Against your grandfather, against your father, and against you. It’s a problem you have to face every blessed day. Just think about it. For our own good.
Fuat is very impactado. They both go back inside. Ferit and Seyran are there.
Ferit: We’ve got a problem, brother. There are only two rooms upstairs.
Asuman: Fine, the girls will take one room and the men work it out amongst yourselves. Let’s go, girls.
Ferit, Fuat, and Abidin stand around.
Next, we see (and hear) Abidin singing with the guys as they are eating and drinking. [I wish I knew what the words were to the song!]. It looks like the girls can hear the singing as well. Asuman looks affected by the singing, but Suna is the one who looks like she knows the singing is for her, which, of course, it is. She smiles and looks very relaxed, unlike Seyran who is sitting up and very unhappy.
Downstairs, Abidin winds up the song, and Fuat tells him he is going to make them cry.
Upstairs, Seyran all of a sudden throws off her bedcovers.
Seyran: That’s enough! If they’re going to drink, so should we!
Asuman: I like that idea.
Suna: But, Seyran, that wouldn’t be right.
Seyran: It’ll be fine, sister. You’re with me tonight. Everything will be under control. I promise that everything will be fine. Come on, do it!
Suna agrees. Seyran tells them she is going to get the drinks and will be right back.
Asuman: Isn’t he a wonderful singer?
Suna: Abidin, right? Yes.
Asuman: You’re eyes twinkle when you talk about him. It’s so sweet.
Suna, suddenly uncomfortable: No, you’re wrong. I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Asuman: Darling, don’t worry. I can see what’s happening. It’s obvious. For both of you. Just be aware that it won’t be easy. It’ll be hard for you, but nothing is impossible when there’s love.
Suna grins at this: Thank you. You’re the only one who’s noticed.
Just then, Seyran comes back with the wine and glasses: Noticed what?
Asuman easily answers: I was telling her about when Fuat fell in love with me. Being here has made me nostalgic.
Seyran pours wine and asks: How did you know? I’d like to hear. Tell me. How’d it happen? How did you know? And what made you fall in love?

Episode 69 #8 of 8

Downstairs, Fuat is talking: She said she’s been unhappy in the yali for some time. What else can we do? Live unhappily forever?
Abidin: She said she wasn’t happy in the yali, but she didn’t say she’s unhappy with you. Don’t get the wrong idea, but she chose to be with you despite being unhappy in that yali. Think of it like that.
Ferit: Let’s toast!
The guys are drinking the harder stuff. They are enjoying the visit. Upstairs, the girls are also enjoying their wine. They eventually start dancing!

Later, Suna goes downstairs to get something from the kitchen, disturbing Abidin who is asleep on the sofa. She wishes him a tipsy good evening. He asks if she is OK. She sits by the window and assures him she is fine. He joins her and she reaches for him, hoping to kiss him, but he backs away. She asks what’s wrong.
Abidin: Let’s not throw away a life of memories over a small moment. This might not be our first kiss, but I want it to be the most special. I don’t want it to happen like this, when we’re both drunk. She laughs and smiles her agreement: Thank you.
They embrace.
Upstairs, we see Ferit at Seyran’s bed reach over and kiss her. She wakes and asks him what’s happening? Is he crazy?
Ferit: Yes, I’m crazy because of you.
Seyran tells him to leave. The girls are sleeping. He leans in and kisses her. She looks at him with love. He asks her what’s the big deal with it.
Ferit: You’re my wife and I miss you.
He stands to leave, and they look at one another smiling, with love. Seyran touches her lips as she falls asleep.

A few hours later, Ferit wakes Seyran, wishing her good morning. They kiss. She suddenly sits up and asks what he is up to.
Ferit: What’s wrong? Everyone is downstairs and no one is coming up.
Seyran: That doesn’t mean there aren’t other people here.
Ferit: Seyran, look. I can be patient, but if this continues, I doubt I can hold out much longer.
Seyran: Be clear with me. Be honest and just tell me you don’t love me.
Seyran gets up and leaves the room.
Ferit: Seyran, wait!

Episode 69 gave us some of the background of Hattice and Halis. We now see that Kazim lost his father very young. It doesn't excuse his craziness completely for me, but it gives me more understanding. I wish we had even more of this story.

I agree Kat that Zerrin looks very much like Pelin, so a believable mother-daughter.

I liked the three couples interacting, although only one person knows about the third couple actually being one. They could have outings like this. Instead they are closed up in the dark yali.

If Halis finds out what Orhan and Fuat have been up to, things will be bad!!!

Defne didn’t seem as nice after her visit. I guess Efe has lots of power.

Just some thoughts.

Thanks Babachita. I have a different theory about who was shot that we didn't see. Like you, I find it's hard determining who is who in the flashbacks.

Comments and Edits part 1

Thank you for another lovely recap, Babachita. There were shameful edits again.

ITA, they did a good casting job with Zerrin. What a witch. No wonder Pelin didn’t want her parents to know anything.

Better translation of what Hattuc’s brother said about Halis: “Somehow, you managed to make a name for yourself in that vast city as an Antepli (person from Antep)—to the point where people would utter the “Bismillah” (in the name of Allah) before even speaking your name. You commanded the respect of Istanbul’s old-school tough guys; they bowed before you.”

Hattuc’s brother said that Saffet was the grandson of his “kirve”, godfather, sponsor at a boy’s circumcision.

Note how Halis shouted at Saffet and delivered those lines. Lol, he counted on his fingers and banged on the table, just like he does now with his family.

Halis might owe the Sanlis, but Mehves suspected another reason to have Kazim at the company. Hatice would visit more often. Halis had a slight smile.

Is Halis on the verge of finding out about Orhan’s scheme?

Edit: As they walked up to the vacation house, Ferit tells Seyran that he was very scared that something happened to her. She answers, you don’t have to exaggerate like this. No, it’s true, he replies, don’t go off and do something like this on your own again. Look at what happens when you do. She tells him, let’s be quiet for a moment and take in this beautiful view. Take in the oxygen, the fresh air. They take deep breaths.

Ferit puts his arms around Seyran and says, it’s like we got married in winter and now we’re on our honeymoon. Seyran says that’s irrelevant. Why, Ferit answers, we’re away from home, away from stress, our loved ones are next to us. I couldn’t imagine a better honeymoon. Try it and see if it will work, Seyran replies. Seyran, ya…Ferit responds, don’t spoil it. This is a honeymoon house and tonight…

Seyran removes Ferit’s arm and snaps back, your intentions are clear, Ferit. We came here for Fuat and Asuman. Don’t pressure me, I told you I need time. Seyran walks away. Ferit calls after her, you need time… how much more patience can I have? It’s enough. Ferit turns around and kicks snow at Suna and Abidin coming up. Suna laughs. She remarks to Abidin, wow, this place is beautiful!

Another awful edit: After dinner, Suna and Abidin are doing dishes in the kitchen. He says, this is a bit awkward. She asks why. He clarifies, I mean not being able to talk when we’re this close. Being unable to look, for fear of being misunderstood. It’s just weird. Their hands touch on a plate. Shy smiles. Suna says, let it be so. It’s wonderful just to be side by side.

Edit: Seyran and Ferit enter one of the bedrooms. Ferit sits on the bed. This room is nice. We are the first to see it. Let it be ours. Seyran notes the other bedroom has a double bed and a single. Ferit says there’s a couch in the living room for Abi. Don’t be ridiculous, Seyran replies, where is my sister going to sleep? Will she stay with Fuat and Asuman? Ferit says that Suna should sleep in the living room and Abi can sleep in the car [!] Seyran thinks that’s very rude.

Comments and Edits part 2

Ferit goes into seduction mode. Seyran… He sniffs her hair. He kisses her neck. I was very obedient today. Don’t I get a reward? She moves away and asks, Ferit, is this on our agenda now? He responds, it’s on my agenda! Who cares about that. This is always my agenda. Allah, Alllah, it will not change, Seyran! I told you this from the beginning. Should I tell you again? I want you. Do you understand or don’t you understand? What will we do? Seyran tells Ferit he’s gone completely crazy. The oxygen didn’t do him any good. End edit. Then he suggests they go somewhere else.

Lol, Ferit didn’t say “I can feel the stars”. He laughed, pointed, and said, look, the ceiling is very high!

The türkü Abidin sang is Bir Ay Doğar İlk Akşamdan Geceden/A Moon Rises from the First Evening of the Night. This version is sung by Cengiz Özkan. There are auto translated captions available.

They cut Asuman’s answer to Seyran’s question: how did you know you were in love? Or why did you fall in love? Asuman said, for me it’s trust. It attracted me to Fuat. I told myself that this man wouldn’t leave me halfway. Seyran asks, will he leave you? If I don’t let go, Asu replies, then he won’t let go. He can’t. That’s why I have to go. Suna asks, what if he feels the same way… if he trusts you? Isn’t it a shame? Seyran says that trust is very important for her, too.

Suna and Abi (#Absun) are the only happy couple on this trip. So sweet. They edited their conversation. She said the food and drink wasn’t sitting right with her. He offered to make her a lemon soda. She says, not necessary. Thank you. She puts her hand on his cheek and says, I trust you very much. You give me confidence. I’m happy if you feel that way, he replies. That’s when she went in for the kiss.

Slight edit. Seyran saw Ferit sneaking into the room. She smiled and then pretended to be asleep.

They ruined the last scene with yet another awful edit. This clip contains the stolen kiss in the night and Ferit coming to Seyran in the morning. It has auto translated captions available. Stop at 5:00 if you don’t want a bit of a spoiler for the next episode.

I’ll get to recapping #70 as soon as I can. It might not be up until the new Monday page.

Thank you for all the clarifications, Dondi. It’s frustrating to try to write what happened using Spanish dubbing and English/Spanish captions. Because you can see the original Turkish, we are so lucky! I especially enjoy the music information.

I figured that Halis was the mero mero! Now he really has power. The Spanish title Poder y traición sticks in my head. I see lots of displays of power. And betrayals are showing up, too. I hope we get more clarification on that fateful confrontation of Halis and Safer.

Cape Verde was such a joyful community today!!! I love the CM for these moments.
