Thanks for answering my question, novelera, Anastasia, and Babachita.
Anastasia, it was my suggestion for viewing Golden. Sorry about that, I’ll accept the blame. It’s a worldwide hit based on the strength of the cast and the exceptional chemistry of the lead actors. It just finished a successful run Spain. Afra and Mert (Seyfer) created iconic, award-winning characters in diziland. I understand that YMMV. I appreciate that you tried to follow with recaps.
There are a lot of parallels between Golden and Lejos. Transgenerational trauma. Systems of oppression are in play. Listen to the original theme song in Lejos again. The lyrics are devastating. They play the instrumental every time there’s a scene of women suffering.
novelera, I agree there are disturbing elements in Golden. There’s no way to defend tyrant Halis, abuser Kazim, enabler Hattuc, or the vile tag team of Ifakat and Zerrin. I also dislike the verbal and physical abuse Seyran continually heaps on Ferit.
If we are talking about misogyny, we don’t need a man to do the job in either dizi. Here, a woman is a wolf to another woman. That always disturbs me. I’ll put Sadakat at the top of the list in Lejos. As K mentioned, she shot Alya and killed Mine. She was going to kill a patient and frame Alya. She literally got away with murder because Alya was guilted/forced into backing off. The love of her life, Cihan, “thinks that’s okay”. Ifakat and Zerrin fill the bill in Golden. Hattuc is a close second to them.
I loved CihAl’s chemistry in the first season but I’m getting bored with the separation, longing looks, and declarations of endless love. Maybe we see a hug. Little Deniz gets on my nerves. Telemundo does us a disservice by cutting some of the nicest scenes with Muzaffer, Ummu, Pakize and Kadir and not giving us the Turkish soundtrack.
Babachita, I see the same things in Golden as you do. I agree, “If you get hooked on some of the characters, it’s usually worth watching.” I’ll extend that to liking to the actors, too. It makes it easier to gloss over some of the bad or ridiculous stuff. Example: I’m likely to give some grace to Sahin because I like him and I like the actor. I thought he was very good in Aile.
I’ve already finished Golden. So why do I continue to watch Lejos? I’m still interested in the setting, the language, and the customs and traditions of this region. The actors are doing a commendable job with the difficult material. [I know, Boran.] I’m curious to see how this will resolve, although there’s a third season and I fear they will mess it up. In my opinion, this happened with Hercai and Golden.
Ha, maybe they will bring Meryem back to keep CihAl separated. I hope they don’t kill any of the good guys. Most of all I like that we have great recappers and an active discussion. If it weren’t for the patio, I’d ditch the Spanish and crush all the Turkish eps.

Since we all are bothered by Boran, I decided to do some research on the actor, Burç Kümbetlioğlu. He was in a couple of episodes of “Bahar”! I checked it out. He was not a stick of wood, but nothing remarkable. He played a bad guy, an abuser. And the woman he was abusing was played by the same actor that plays Nare in Lejos! He also locked Bahar in a storage room when there was a fire in the hospital.

lejos, Monday 14th, part 1
Rehash of Boran being weird, as always, and Sadakat berating one her kids (Boran this time), as always. But this is mostly about Ecmel and her hatred of him. Then there’s the thing about the text that Boran gets that she responds to and then deletes. She’s pretty good with tech for a small, conservative town matriarch. And she loads up a gun because she’s good with those too.
Oh my gosh. Kadir and Pakize. These two are adorable. They both look great. He’s all nervous and brings her flowers. Alya greets them, Cihan and the rest of the family (the good parts) show up. Deniz is there too. Alya explains to the kid that they are going to talk to her parents and he should go to his room to draw. He actually leaves! Then there’s a dramatic knock on the door and Ummu and Muzaffer enter, look around and wonder why everyone looks so happy. Alya sends Pakize to make Turkish coffee and Nare goes to help. There is small talk for a bit and Muzaffer looks very suspicious while Kadir smiles like an idiot. A cute idiot. Coffee comes out. Muza asks Ummu if she knows what’s going on and he’s going to be annoyed if she knows something. She promises she knows nothing. Kadir drinks up and almost chokes on the amount of salt Pakize put in it, as we now know these ceremonies go. NOW Muza understands and demands to know why there’s salt in that drink. Yelling. Cihan calms everyone down, as he always does. Muza asks him to please not do this, but too late. Cihan does the deed and asks for Pakize’s hand on behalf of Kadir. Muza says no way will he give his daughter to this lazy bum. Poor Kadir. He looks so hurt. The rest of the family defends him and talks of the love these two have for each other. Even Ummu speaks up for Kadir. Muza finally explains that he can’t approve because these two can’t be happy, and everyone is like “What?”. He spills that the whole reason is that he saw in a dream that if they get married, they won’t be happy. He dreams of it every night and knows that the Creator is sending him a message. Well at least he has a good reason for destroying the happiness of these kids. He refuses to budge, and the other guys take him out. “What are we going to do?”, asks Pakize to Kadir.
Muzaffer and Ummu drive off, leaving Kaya there, so he has to hitch a ride with Sahin. Kadir asks what to do now, and all Cihan can come up with is to pray hard that the dreams stop. The kids offer to clean up all the food that- again – no one ate, but Alya sends them off. Alya and Cihan talk about Muzaffer’s stubbornness. Alya suggests he just loves his daughter and doesn’t want to let her go, and Cihan says maybe it’ll be the same when they have a daughter. That horrible theme song plays while Alya mentions some event at the hospital. She’s getting some award and Cihan assures her it’s because of everything she does for the hospital and not just because she’s married to the owner of the hospital. Smiles between them until she decides she should check on the boy. Booo.
Scary music plays as Sadakat gets all gussied up to go murder Ecmel. She does look great for a crazy, vengeful murderer lady. She goes out to the car, tells the driver she’s going to drive, and takes off alone. Nare and Fidan are leaving at the same time from their home and Fidan offers to drive her. Nare turns her down, but definitely not because she doesn’t trust Fidan’s driving. She tells Tia Fidan to buckle up or something and then gets to work another way. Subtle, Nare.
Sadakat meets up with Ecmel and the snipping starts right away. It goes back and forth a bit until Sadakat pulls out the gun and tells him to say goodbye. Ecmel begs her not to do it. Commercial break. Odds that he’ll actually get shot are low.

Fidan is driving somewhere, so happy about being able to drive, but then some vehicle comes out of nowhere just as she’s driving by Ecmel and Sadakat and she swerves, running over Ecmel! Sadly, he lives and then whines about being hit even though she saved his life by hitting him. She gets out of the car and Sadakat puts the gun away, deciding against murder. For now. She says something about third times a charm, so this must be attempted murder time two. She does offer that if Ecmel tries to press charges against Fidan, she’ll testify that he jumped in front of her car. Ha! She leaves, and Ecmel whines more to Fidan. She is irritated, and not interested in his nonsense tells him Sadakat didn’t put a hole in his head and her car didn’t hurt him much. She leaves.
Sadakat sits in the car for a bit, irritated that she didn’t get to shoot Ecmel. As soon as she gets out of the car, Boran gripes about where she was, isn’t Deniz coming tonight, etc. He wants to go to the big event tonight like the big boy that he is, and she insists that he not do anything that will embarrass the family or hurt the hospital, thus guaranteeing that he’ll embarrass the family and hurt the hospital.
Alya and Cihan meet up and chat. Alya thinks it will be weird if they arrive at the event together, being all not married anymore on account of not-really-dead Boran. He agrees, but says he’ll be by her side until everything is resolved. I don’t think he means literally by her side, because of all the weirdness. They part.
Event time! It looks like it’s taking place in a giant, painted white cave. Nare is organizing last minute details. Dr. Y goes to her to apologize and says he needed to ask her about the order of things tonight. Then he tells her she looks beautiful tonight, making her look obviously uncomfortable. And this is when Sahin enters the space, looks over to Nare and Dr. Y, and Dr. Y notes that it’s happened again (Sahin catching them talking). Dr. Y apologizes to Sahin and Sahin snipes about them daring to speak to each other again. Ugh. Nare has better things to do and leaves Sahin, who them asks Kaya where Zerrin is. She shows up with Fidan and Kaya shows them to their table. He and Zerrin exchanges glances. Sahin is still being a butthead and Fidan notices the tension. Kaya, Zerrin, and Fidan talk about Demir and sticking together if he shows up.
Then Boran gets there with his mommy and they are greeted by Cihan. I really do love Sadakat’s scarf collection. She’s pulled out a fancy one tonight for the special event. But then she ruins he lovely look by demanding that Kaya leave Zerrin and sit by her. Eye roll. But she does complement Nare on the look of the event so that’s nice. Maybe the first nice thing she’s said to her daughter. Alya enters and is watched by the brothers. Cihan stands up for her while Boran mostly glares. We get a view of her name card for some reason. Boran starts to get up but is stopped by Sadakat who grabs him by the arm. Dramatic music plays while Alya leaves to go to her table next to theirs. While Cihan watches her, and Boran glares at Cihan. Then Boran continues to glare at her as she sits next to Dr. Y. Apparently, the coma really worked those glaring muscles.

Nare introduces Dr. Yalcin (Dr. Y). He talks about it’s 27-year history, the personnel, etc. Boring stuff. And when we get back to the event, people are doing that circle dance- the halay (thank you captions). But not Cihan and Alya. They are making googly eyes at each other across the room like teenagers and smiling, until they notice Boran noticing them. Sadakat, sitting between them, just sighs. And because that’s not enough drama, Demir has to show up. He sees Zerrin doing the halay next to Kaya. She sees him and walks away from the circle, claiming she felt dizzy. Fidan takes her home. I can’t tell if Demir is smirking about making her leave or annoyed that she dared to have fun. Awards are finally given out, first to Alya. Everyone except Boran claps. Alya walks up to the stage, while Nare invites Cihan up to present the award. Sadakat has to stop Boran again from getting up. She warns him that everyone from the hospital is there. Cihan speechifies a bit and hands her the award without getting too close to her. It’s all going well until Boran gets up and loudly demands that Cihan shouldn’t be the one handing out the award. He yells that Alya is HIS wife. Ugh. Get this guy some help, preferably at an in-person facility. In Bulgaria maybe.

I kept laughing every time they showed Kadir's grin. And speaking of Kadir and Pakize's dilemma, some Turks do get married without parental approval. Look at Nare and Sahin.
Sadakat drives! IIRC she had a driver for her other murder attempts. Yep, the odds are very low Ecmel will get shot. I expected him to grab the gun since she should have pulled the trigger right after she got out of the car. Gunshots work fine from 10 feet away, Sada. I was sighing at the trope where some dizi/TN character points a gun and yammers on for a while, usually guaranteeing they'll be foiled.
Laughed at "decides against murder, for now".
ITA! Hurry up Bulgarians! Boran is a waste of space. Loved "glaring muscles" from his coma.
I was yelling at my TV. Yalcin, get away from Nare! They've way overdone this jealous Sahin routine.
They are also overdoing Demir showing up everywhere, trying to look menacing and then grinning when something bad happens. Yep, annoyed that she dared to have fun sounds about right.

I was sighing at the trope where some dizi/TN character points a gun and yammers on for a while, usually guaranteeing they'll be foiled.

Maggie- The salt in the coffee is part of this "asking permission to wed" ceremony. Dondi can explain it better, but I think it's a way for the future groom to show how much he loves his bride if he'll drink the terrible salted Coffee. And Kadir loves Pakize very much. The boy would drink anything she puts in front of him.
I looked up Narli and the konak is labeled "Albora Konak" on google. :) And now I want to go, even though the area doesn't look all that interesting from the satellite view. But I would love to pick up some scarves. I wanted to go for a turban and caftan look when I get old enough to pull it off, but don't think I can do turbans. Scarves though? Sure! They'd look better than the usual scrunchie.

Maggie, I believe they show one full Turkish length episode every week. It’s two hours or so, so folks watch it like watching a movie. Then everyone can talk about it all week until the following week. This goes on for the season. Then there is a break of a few months until the next season. I sometimes watch Turkish-length episodes (Eng or Span caps), and they seem to be planned almost like a movie, with a plot that develops and ends with a climax. When they are cut to less than an hour, the action can seem abrupt and choppy (literally) as a result.
I love the headscarves etc! Beautiful clothing.

So sorry for Kadir and Pakize. I wonder if there’s something more than a dream that’s bothering Muzaffer. Kadir got all dressed up. He changed out of his usual striped shirt. He had that shirt buttoned all the way up to his neck.

Martes – Part 1 of 4
We again get to watch Boran ruin Alya’s award ceremony by making it all about himself. He shouts that she’s his wife and he should be the one presenting the award. Cihan gets back to the podium, congratulates Alya and manages to get everyone in the room to applaud (eventually).
Cihan goes after Boran. While Sadakat, Sahin and Kaya look on, Cihan gives him a devastating openhanded slap. While Sada keeps ordering Cihan to stop, Cihan begins to beat the crap out of Boran. Hasan and Erol try to stop him. He only stops punching when Alya intervenes. She then drags Cihan out. The ubiquitous Demir opines that they deserve it. Let them eat each other alive. Cue the maniacal laugh.
Gurgun tends to Boran while Kaya asks why in the world he did that. Boran says that Cihan will pay for this. Kaya tells him he deserved the beating. And get it through your head. Alya will never return to you. Looking mutinous, Boran says that, if she’s not with him, then neither will she be with Cihan.
Sadakat prays. She tells Allah that her sons have become enemies. She begs for peace and unity in her family. [This from a woman who shot Alya, who’s presumably part of the family. I can almost hear Allah snort.]
Cihan is brooding at the farmhouse. Alya comes out in PJs and puts ointment on his knuckles. Cihan says that he doesn’t know how long he can put up with Boran. I don’t know what would have happened if you hadn’t separated us. Alya looks sad and wonders how things might have turned out if Cihan hadn’t stopped her from leaving when she tried to do so. Cihan tells her not to think of that. He could stand losing everything, but not her. He leans in as if for a kiss. Alya stops him, saying she fears she won’t be able to control herself. [I think I read something once saying that, in addition to the censors, some Turkish married actors resist a lot of onscreen passion.]
Alya calls Boran. He can’t believe it. She begs him to stop this shameful behavior. She says she won’t ever return to him. Then you won’t be with Cihan either. I won’t give you a divorce. And you can’t marry Cihan. You were the one who asked us to marry. Damn you! OK, if you’re being this way, I’ll give the video to my lawyer. You have that video? Yes, I’ll bring it to court, and we’ll be divorced in one session. Boran then has a tantrum, breaking things in his room.
The next day Boran shows up at the hospital. Alya’s with a patient, and he waits outside. He tells her he wants to talk. Nare walks up and sees him grabbing Alya’s arm. Alya tells Nare she can handle this. Big mistake letting him into the office, Alya. Nare calls Cihan.

And there’s the part where you say Cihan should marry me. Boran tells her she’s NOT going to turn that video over to the court. If you’d have accepted a formal divorce, I wouldn’t have done so. But I’ll do it. He flies off the handle like always and grabs her.
Alya is trying to get out of there when Boran grabs some surgical kind of scissors, points them at Alya, and says she won’t use that video. Alya orders him to leave. He gets crazy eyes and says that, if she uses that video in court, he’ll kill himself. [Sounds good to me. I’m tired of waiting for the Bulgarians.] Alya gets the scissors away from Boran. They struggle. He grabs her arm, pulls it forward and stabs himself (but not in the heart). Alya pulls out the scissors and has the bloody thing in her hand when Cihan rushes in.
Come on, writers! They go with Boran asking why she did it and Cihan and Nare staring. They seem to be trying to make us wonder if they believe Boran instead of Alya. After a loooong time Alya says she didn’t hurt him. She puts pressure on his wound, begging Cihan and Nare to believe her. He’s carted off on a gurney.
Alya explains how it happened. That Boran said he’d kill himself if she divorced him. He grabbed the scissors and threatened her with them. She grabbed them away. Then he grabbed her hand and pushed the scissors into himself. Cihan asks her about the video. He then says that Boran got her to stab him as blackmail. And this is dishonorable.
We see the Yonca staff gossiping in the corridor. Cihan asks Kadir to call Erol and ask him to come. He also asks Muzaffer to tell the gossiping employees to get to work. The cops show up pretty quickly. One of them interviews Cihan. He’s visibly angry and says that Boran set a trap for Alya. He gets testy and says that Alya took those scissors so Boran wouldn’t hurt himself, but Boran is trying to get her blamed. Erol realizes that Cihan did himself no favors. We don’t see Alya’s statement.
Yalcin tells Cihan that Boran is saying that Alya hurt him. Cihan pushes past him into the room where they’ve been treating Boran. Cihan is calmer. He says that he thinks Boran must have a bit of humanity left. Enough. Tell the truth. Sadakat bursts in, followed by Sahin and Kaya. Boran tells Sada that Alya wanted to kill him. Sada looks puzzled. Sahin says she wouldn’t do such a thing. Cihan says he’d curse Boran completely if his mother weren’t there. A cop clears them all out.

Sada asks why Boran would do something like that (obviously still doubting Alya’s version of what happened). Why do you think? To take my son from me. Boran comes out of the room and agrees with Alya. Go ahead and give them that video and divorce me. That way the judge will give Deniz to me and not to an aggressive mother. Cihan: Now I can clearly see that you’re Ecmel’s son. You’re just like him. Everyone starts talking at once, and Gurgun hustles Boran out of there.
Cihan gets a murderous look on his face and tells Kadir to take Alya to the farmhouse. He arrives at the mansion and shouts Boran’s name. Ignoring Gurgun’s efforts to stop him, he breaks down the door to Boran’s room. He orders Boran to change his statement. When Boran says that would take a long time, Cihan bashes a chair over his head. As usual, even though Cihan burned rubber getting there, Sada arrives by magic. Cihan: What kind of man are you? You don’t deserve Alya’s kidney. You don’t deserve what she did to save your life. How can you accuse the mother of your child? You’re an idiot.
Boran grabs Gurgun’s gun. [These guys always seem to have one in their waistband.] Sada orders Boran to lower the gun and is told not to interfere. Cihan fakes him out beautifully. He turns to Sada and then rapidly grabs the gun away from Boran. You were going to shoot me?
Sada and Gurgun beg Cihan. Cihan orders him to change his statement. Then kill me, because I won’t do it. Cihan twists the gun right under Boran’s chin. You’re not the Boran I knew. Cihan throws a coat at him and marches him to the gate while still holding the gun on him. Sada tags along the whole way shouting for Cihan not to do it.
Cihan pushes him outside. You no longer can live here. Get out. Boran: Who do you think you’re throwing out. This is my mansion and my land. Everyone, including Alya, shows up. When Sada tells Cihan it’s his brother, Cihan reminds Boran of all he’s done. He tells Sadakat to shut up. You’re no longer an Albora, Learn that well. And people who are not Alboras cannot enter. Boran says he has a right to the mansion and lands and Cihan tells him he could throw him a bone to chew.
While Sada is begging Cihan, saying Boran has nowhere to go, Ecmel appears. He says that Boran will go with his father. Did you think I’d leave my son unprotected. He tells Boran he heard how cruel these people can be. Obviously, I will protect you. Your home awaits you. [Except I think it belongs to Sahin.]

Sada starts ranting about Ecmel being a vulture. She begs Cihan not to do this. Then she begs the others to help. Cihan: Basta! If he wants to leave, let him. Boran, run to your father’s arms. Ecmel says that this is a disgrace; one says go and the other stay. Boran, come with me. [The Boran actor shows off some of his fine acting skills…standing and staring.] Then he turns away from Ecmel.
Sada: Cihan, dear, you see he didn’t go. [Anything and everything will be excused if he rejects Ecmel.] She begs Cihan for his brother to return to the mansion. Then she gets that tough face on. Look. If you don’t do so, I’ll never forgive you. Alya looks disgusted.
Cihan’s face grows cold. All right, mother. It will be as you say. But I’m asking something very important. While he is here, I won’t be your son. Sada starts to beg. He brushes past her. Take your son inside so he won’t get cold. Go take care of him.
Kaya asks if Boran isn’t ashamed of himself. He should admit that he lied and stay away. Sahin tells Boran to admit to the prosecutor what he did. Boran is scornful and accuses Sahin of being Cihan’s dog.
There’s lots of shouting. Sahin asks Nare and Kaya what we’re all wondering. How did he change into such a different man?
Alya and Cihan come to the farmhouse. Deniz senses something off, and Alya lies. Cihan then gets a call from Erol. Boran didn’t file a complaint. Maybe the case will be closed, but it could turn into a public demand. [I am just as baffled by Turkish law as I have been by telenovela law for decades. Boran told the police Alya stabbed him. [The Boran actor shows off some of his fine acting skills…standing and staring.] Then he turns away from Ecmel.
Sada: Cihan, dear, you see he didn’t go. [Anything and everything will be excused if he rejects Ecmel.] She begs Cihan for his brother to return to the mansion. Then she gets that tough face on. Look. If you don’t do so, I’ll never forgive you. Alya looks disgusted.
Cihan’s face grows cold. All right, mother. It will be as you say. But I’m asking something very important. While he is here, I won’t be your son. Sada starts to beg. He brushes past her. Take your son inside so he won’t get cold. Go take care of him.

Recap of the Ihsanli family arriving at the Sanli parking garage where Saffet Junior sees Suna and Abidin, and Suna then running to her home as Abidin drives off. Junior’s angry face tells us that he doesn’t handle setbacks well. Suna slips back into the Sanli apartment, looking fearful.
Next, at the yali, we see Ferit and Seyran sitting on the bench in the locked room Halis had her put into. She has calmed down from throwing things. Ferit asks if she’s not going to say anything. She asks him what does he want her to say. Does he want her to tell him she returned because he asked her to. She asks him if he understands what is happening.
Seyran: They brought me here against my will. Your grandfather stormed into my house like a criminal and, in the process, humiliated my family. Are you aware of what they did to me? What do they want from me? To keep me locked up this this room? What do they want, Ferit?
Ferit: After you sign some papers, you’ll be able to leave.
Seyran looks intensely at Ferit. She finally nods in understanding.
Seyran: I could have signed those papers at my house. I wouldn’t have refused. So, what is this all about? I don’t know what to say.
Ferit, now standing: I don’t know what to say, Seyran! How can your father offer to marry you before you’ve even gotten divorced? What kind of trash is that?
Seyran rises to stand and face Ferit: After what you did, why do you care? Don’t complain. If that’s the case, what do you care, Ferit? After all, we’re getting divorced anyway. Maybe my father came up with this idea because we’re getting divorced regardless.

Ferit now finishes throwing the things in the room that she missed.
Ferit: Are you trying to drive me crazy? Mission accomplished!
He continues to trash the room.
Ferit draws her into an embrace: Seyran, I’m going to kill you.
Their lips are next to each other and their breath is merged. She dares him: Just try it.
He looks at her for a bit and then turns and leaves the room.
She follows and yells through the door: Try it! Come on! Kill me! Do it!
He listens to her and sits with his back to the door. Seyran does the same inside, sobbing.
Back at the Sanli home, Suna goes to answer the door when Kazim stops her. He decides to answer. He opens to find Saffet Aga, with his two sons and some henchies. Junior glares at Suna, having seen her with Abidin. Kazim asks if everything is OK. He invites them in. Saffet Aga tells Kazim they are almost family.
Saffet Aga: We weren’t going to stay home and not help you. Perhaps if we were in your place, you wouldn’t come to our aid, but that doesn’t matter to us. Our people are here. If a bird so much as flaps its wing, we will know.
Kazim: But…the bird has flown the coop. And it took my beloved daughter.
Saffet Aga: Don’t worry, we’ll handle it. But this matter calls for discretion.
Kazim: I appreciate that. Please come in and make yourselves at home.
Saffet Aga and Tarik go with Kazim to the living room, but Junior holds back in order to talk to Suna. Henchies stay in the hall outside the apartment.
Junior grabs Suna by the arm and takes her aside.
Junior: Who was that man you saw? Answer me, or do you want me to do what my brother would?
Suna: He had news of Seyran, that’s all. He’s Ferit’s driver, but please don’t tell anyone I was speaking to him. Please.
Junior frowns and then smiles. He kisses her cheek and promises not to tell anyone and tells her to be more careful.
Junior: You are almost my wife, so you can’t talk to other men anymore, understand?
Suna tells him she understands.
Junior seems happy and goes into the living room. Suna is still very upset and angrily wipes the kiss off her cheek.
In the living room, Saffet Aga is seated. Kazim is looking at his wounded hand. Tarik gives the kiss of respect to Esme and Hattice. Hattice then greets Saffet Aga.
Hattice: Welcome, sir. Thank you for coming.
Saffet Aga: Thank you, Ms. Hattuc.
Junior walks in and sits with Tarik. Tarik wants to know where he was; he tells him the bathroom.
Kazim, looking very serious: What will you do, sir? How can I be of help? Halis Korhan can’t get away with this.
Hattice isn’t happy with this development.
Saffet Aga: My men are up for anything. I came here to pick you up. But, first let’s have coffee. Then you will accompany us to retrieve your daughter.
Esme listens to this with concern and then goes for coffee as Kazim signals.
Saffet Aga: Don’t underestimate me, Kazim. A few men will stay behind with Saffet and his fiancée. I will go with Tarik and some others and bring your dear daughter back.
At her home, Zerrin joins Pelin, who is looking anxious. Zerrin tells her to relax. Pelin tells her Zerrin is now attacking Seyran and Ferit will now want to be with her even less. Zerrin tells her not to be stupid.

At the yali, Latif leaves a room carrying a document. He passes lots of pictures on a table, including from Ferit and Seyran’s wedding. He knocks on Halis’s door. Halis is working at making jewelry. Latif tells him the lawyer has prepared the documents. He offers them to Halis to look over, which Halis does.
Meanwhile, a van drives through the city. Inside Tarik is busy thinking evil thoughts, while Kazim is still having a pity party and Saffet Aga is making a phone call.
Just then, Halis gets a call from an unknown number. He takes it.
Saffet Aga: Halis Korhan. This is Saffet Ihsanli. I’m with my daughter-in-law’s father. We’re on our way to your house and will be there very soon. We will talk then.
Halis: Mr. Saffet, I’ll be here.
Halis hangs up and hands the phone to Latif.
Halis: Kazim is coming to the house with Saffet Ihsanli. Prepare the men. Just in case, take all the necessary precautions.
Latif: Right away.
Halis is thinking, and we see his left hand. It has a round scar that looks like it might have come from what he did to Kazim with his cane.
At the Sanli residence, Junior is sitting with Esme and Hattice. Junior is agitated and finally stand up, telling them he will speak to the guards at the door. He says they might have news.
Hattice: Why don’t you just call your grandfather? I don’t understand why you don’t speak directly.

Outside the yali, the henchies are dividing up. Fuat and Orhan are overseeing, while Mustaffa gives the orders. The gates open, and the van, followed by a car, enters. Ifakat smiles. Fuat watches. As the Ihsanlis get out of their van, their henchies join them from the car that followed them. Tarik looks murderous. Kazim gets out, doing his best to look imposing. Saffet Aga gets out of his wheel chair and uses a crutch. As before, Tarik supports him on the other side. Kazim follows.
Orhan: Welcome, Mr. Saffet. Right this way, my father is expecting you.
Safet makes his way, and his face shows pain. He finally has to lean on Tarik. As he enters Halis’s room, he stands tall again.
Halis slowly turns toward Saffet Aga, looking very imposing. Saffet signals to Tarik to leave him, and Tarik then backs up, leaving the two old adversaries standing and facing each other.
Halis: You don’t look well. Old age has caught up with you. Are you still putting yourself at risk, Saffet?
Saffet Aga: Ha! So, it’s true that you’re hiding in your castle and don’t go out anymore or see anyone. Did you think Allah would forgive you? That He wouldn’t take what you’ve taken from me? I know your posture all too well, and your face might deceive the young people behind me, but you’ll never deceive me. You’re suffering quite badly, patriarch. Old age has caught up with you, too.
Halis: What do you want? Why did you show up at my house so late?
Behind them, Kazim is looking at his recently wounded hand.

Latif and Ferit come down the staircase. Latif seems to be carrying the documents. As they enter the room, Latif leaves Ferit and walks to the side while Kazim stares at Ferit. Halis slowly walks toward Seyran’s room with Ferit.
Seyran is in her room and stands as Latif enters, followed by Halis and Ferit.

Halis slowly turns toward Saffet Aga, looking very imposing. Saffet signals to Tarik to leave him, and Tarik then backs up, leaving the two old adversaries standing and facing each other.
Halis: You don’t look well. Old age has caught up with you. Are you still putting yourself at risk, Saffet?
Saffet Aga: Ha! So, it’s true that you’re hiding in your castle and don’t go out anymore or see anyone. Did you think Allah would forgive you? That He wouldn’t take what you’ve taken from me? I know your posture all too well, and your face might deceive the young people behind me, but you’ll never deceive me. You’re suffering quite badly, patriarch. Old age has caught up with you, too.
Halis: What do you want? Why did you show up at my house so late?
Behind them, Kazim is looking at his recently wounded hand.
Halis, continues: Did you come to talk about old age?
Saffet: No, you have something that belongs to us and we want her back. Although that’s not the main reason we’re in your house. That, you’ll find out soon enough.
Halis: Fine. I’ll bring what you’ve come for.
Halis walks away, and Tarik goes to his father. Halis orders Latif to get Ferit immediately. Tarik helps ease his father on to the sofa.
Latif and Ferit come down the staircase. Latif seems to be carrying the documents. As they enter the room, Latif leaves Ferit and walks to the side while Kazim stares at Ferit. Halis slowly walks toward Seyran’s room with Ferit.
Seyran is in her room and stands as Latif enters, followed by Halis and Ferit.

Halis orders her to sign the papers: You never appreciated my family’s surname, so you will renounce every advantage it’s given you.
Seyran: The only advantage it gave me was suffering like never before. [Really, Seyran? I’m thinking growing up with her abusive father would be worse.]
Ferit: Seyran.
Seyran and Ferit look at one another sadly. He remembers their wedding day.
Seyran takes the documents from Latif. Ferit watches her through sad eyes. She signs.
A sad Turkish song plays that I think we’ve heard before. Ferit remembers her embracing him and blinks back tears. He has lots of flashbacks of happier times. First, on the yacht.
Seyran finishes signing and turns. Halis tells Ferit he now needs to sign.
Now Ferit has flashbacks to the great airport kiss and kidnapping her at the apartment. Very reluctantly, he walks over to the documents. Seyran stands next to them, stoically.
He has a flashback to the rented cabin, holding Seyran bed as she slept and slowly reaches out to him.
Seyran meets Halis’s stare.
Another flashback where they are in bed and Ferit is upset, and Seyran slowly puts her arm around him, and he reaches out for her hand. [For me, all these flashbacks show that they do love each other, and it’s very sad to see the divorce happen.] Yet another flashback of them reaching out to one another in bed, followed by another showing Ferit reaching down to Seyran, walking with her.
He hesitates to sign. She turns to stand with him.
Another flashback of holding hands under the table at the restaurant and Seyran turning to smile at him another time.
Finally, he signs. They stand together, but apart, both looking very impactado.

Ferit: What’s that idiot doing here? Leave this house before I kill you! I’ll kill you!
Orhan restrains Ferit. There is a tussle as Orhan calms Ferit down.
Tarik looks on with his sardonic smile, enjoying all of this. Then he winks at Ferit!

Fuat and Orhan restrain Ferit.
Halis: Don’t say another word. Leave and take the trust you’ve lost with you. Be grateful that in the end this is for your own good. Get out.
Saffet, cocks his head and smiles.
Kazim: Sir, you continue accumulating debt with my family. I’ll take you to court over all the misfortune you caused my beloved daughter, and you’ll have to answer for that.

Saffet: Halis, I swear to Allah that what happened before, I’d left for the afterlife to resolve. But now, due to your audacity of looking down on my family, that debt you owe is back. And you’ll have to pay it in this life even if it cost us our lives, you hear me?
Kazim is listening carefully, turning his head as he often does when plotting.
Saffet Aga: Let’s go.
He limps out. As the leave, Tarik walks beside Seyran. He puts his arm on her waist in a proprietary manner.
Tarik: They didn’t hurt you, did they, Seyran?
As she looks at his arm, she sees that he has a firearm in his waist.
Ferit: I’ll cut off that hand that’s touching her.
The Korhans try to stop Ferit, but he approaches Tarik and Seyran. Ferit socks Tarik, who falls to the ground. Ferit continues to threaten Tarik, while Orhan, Fuat and the henchies restrain him.
Halis: Enough! Hold him.
Kazim: Ahh, from what I see, your grandson doesn’t even respect what you say. You’re a puppet.
Halis: Listen to what you’re saying, and be very careful. Or I’ll cut your ears off! Then maybe you’ll learn. Get out of my house! Our, or you’ll force me to never let you leave, you ignorant fool.
Kazim, eyes closed.
Saffet: We’re leaving, your “Eminence.” Though it’s clear you can’t say that you taught your grandson here a shred of decency. He forced his way into my home, and he humiliates and strikes your guest against your wishes. Even if it’s his mistake, I expected more from you as the head of the family. You seem to have forgotten our norms, and for that reason, don’t even think we’ll abide by the rules.

Saffet Aga leads his group out. Tarik, attentive as ever, tells Seyran they should leave.

Halis thinks for a bit and then strides over and grabs Ferit harshly by the jaw: You have no idea the situation you’ve put me in, let alone with whom. I’m embarrassed of my own grandson. Your elders mean nothing to you. When they speak, you should keep quiet! You’re a disgrace!
He flings Ferit’s head to the side.
Ferit stares at his grandfather but doesn’t look cowed yet.
Halis leaves followed by Latif.
Ferit watches him go, looking very impactado.
Outside, we see the Ihsanli caravan pull out, watched by many in the yali.
Ifakat, up in a corner room, watching what she has wrought unfold.
From the attic balcony, Gulgun and Asuman also watch them leave.
They look very concerned, but Ifakat, looking from her window, looks very satisfied.

And I wonder why both Boran and Cihan are surprised that Alya would show the video of Boran telling Cihan to marry Alya in her divorce hearing. I hadn't thought of it, but it is the obvious move, followed by an open court expression of her love for Cihan.

“…some Turkish married actors resist a lot of onscreen passion.” This always pops up when we get a series that lacks physical intimacy beyond a hug or holding hands. Here it was/is a rumor related to Ozan (Cihan). The production has denied this.
Sada blackmails Cihan to let Boran back into the Albora konak. “yoksa sana analık hakkımı helal etmem” meaning: otherwise, I will not forgive you for the rights owed. This is the phrase that strikes fear into the hearts of the Turks (at least in a dizi). Long time dizi viewers know this. Cihan will carry this wrong into the afterlife and be judged on it.
I wish Alya didn't play her hand about the video. And I agree with Maggie about closing the door.
As for Alya being prosecuted, it probably works the same as here. The state/fed can still prosecute because it is also considered societal issue, not just a crime against an individual. They will investigate and decide.

Allah can forgive sins against Him, but sins/wrongs against others can only be forgiven by those others.
People might ask this when undertaking a serious/dangerous task, moving far away, after a disagreement, or near death. The person being asked hopefully will respond, “helal olsun” or “helal ettim” It’s forgiven or I give you my rights. Your explanation, to me, makes what Sadakat said to her second born son much, much worse. She was cursing him into eternity if he didn't obey her! And what you wrote better explains his response that, while Boran is allowed to live there after so many transgressions, Cihan doesn't want to be her son anymore.

In episode 90 Saffet Aga tells Halis that he had forgiven him for the past and left it to Allah to deal with. But then he gets so angry at the treatment of Tarik, Seyran, etc, in this episode that he verbally rescinds this forgiveness, rekindling the conflict.

Saffet Junior is so creepy. He’s even creepier hearing him in Turkish. I think the actor is fantastic in this role.
Yes, Seyran, you could have signed papers at home but we know that greedy Kazim Baba would surely have interfered and caused a big commotion. Halis was smart in that regard. What a fool Seyran is. How does she think she can do what she wants, marry or not marry, especially since she signed everything back to Halis. That seals her fate because Kazim will need to go after a huge payday from Saffet.
Saffet never forgave Halis for anything and Halis never asked. In the flashback, Halis threatened to kill Saffet if he ever saw him again. No “helal”. Saffet was allowing Halis to be judged in the afterlife. I’ve heard this before, a person will say “I’ll leave you/them to Allah”. Like it’s not worth endangering their own souls. IIRC, Seyran said this about Ferit. And, yes, since enmity has been rekindled, Saffet told Halis, “we will settle this matter before our book of deeds is closed”. He’s not waiting for the afterlife any more. There could be bloodshed. Orhan, Ferit, and Fuat were rightfully alarmed.
Lol, this is the second time Ferit has sucker punched Tarik. Fine by me.
Ha, Orhan is just an ornament. Ferit ripped into him. You knew that slap was gonna come. Everyone loves to slap Ferit.

Series 2, Episode 45 - Part 1
"El temor acecha" - Fear lies in wait
Alya and Cihan are at the farm house, and they are discussing Boran's actions. Alya had no idea, when she let Boran into her office and shut the door, that Boran would trick her. She expected a civilized conversation. Cihan reminded her that Boran is not normal. Alya is afraid of losing Deniz. Alya and Cihan are frustrated in their attempts to deal with Boran. Cihan says he has a shipment that night, so he will be home late. Alya worries about Boran accusing her of being violent.
Zerrin, Fidan, Sahin and Nare having dinner. They discuss the Alya and Boran situation. They try to get Zerrin to laugh, but Zerrin is quiet and doesn't eat anything. After dinner, Zerrin calls Demir. Demir reminds Zerrin about the conditions required for her to have her baby. She needs to get out of Kaya's life, and Kaya needs to marry Ipek. Zerrin says okay. But first she asks to see her baby. Demir agrees to let Zerrin see the baby the next day. He will pick Zerrin up after class.
Sadakat calls Alya. Sada says she is calling to see how Alya is doing. She says Alya will lose Deniz if she always challenges Sadakat. Sadakat tells Alya to calm down, because Sadakat can help her. Sadakat can stop this arguing over custody. Alya asks how. Sadakat says to come and meet her tomorrow outside of town and they can talk.
Kaya calls Zerrin and asks her to come out of her house and see him. Zerrin goes outside the compound. Kaya takes Zerrin to the tree where he first kissed her. Kaya wonders why Zerrin is so sad. Zerrin walks away, dropping a knitted baby bootie. Kaya chases her. (She evidently goes back into the house.)
Young Deniz wakes up in the middle of the night. He puts his slippers on, takes his water glass and goes out to the kitchen to get more water. Boran is in the house. Boran fills the glass for Deniz. The glass is dropped and broken. The crash wakes a sleeping Alya up, and she hears Boran's voice. Boran grabs up Deniz and leaves the house with Deniz. Alya goes outside, and Boran and Deniz are gone. Cihan arrives home just then. (The henchies are just standing at the fence line. How did they let Boran in again in the night?) Cihan tells Alya that it was just a nightmare. Boran did not come and take Deniz. Deniz is asleep in his bed. To Alya, the nightmare was very real. (And the photography was straight forward, so we the audience did not know it was a dream.) Cihan puts Alya to bed, but she sits up and worries.

Series 2, Episode 45 - Part 1

The next day, Cihan and Erol are in Cihan's office, plotting against Boran's "jugada maestra", his master move made to make Alya look bad. Cihan gives Erol freedom to do whatever is necessary.
Kaya calls Fidan because Zerrin is not answering his calls. Fidan tells Kaya that Zerrin went to class at the university. We see Demir arrive at the school to wait for Zerrin.
Alya drives out to meet Sadakat in the boonies on a snowy road in the hills. She gets in Sadakat's car to talk, where it is warmer. Sadakat has driven herself. Sadakat says that she, Sadakat, is the key to Alya's salvation. She can get Alya and Deniz out of the country without anyone knowing. Alya should go because she now has a record as a violent woman. She will lose custody of Deniz. The war between Cihan and Boran will go to the death. It is best if Alya leaves. Alya's love for Cihan is making Boran crazy. If Alya leaves, time will heal them all. If she chooses Cihan, she will lose Deniz. Sadakat says, "We all choose our children. Decide soon." Alya is impactada.
Over at the university, Zerrin and Ipek walk out of the school together. They see Demir waiting. Even Ipek looks concerned to see him. But when Zerrin gets into Demir's car, Ipek nods at Demir. Kaya arrives in time to see Zerrin leave with Demir. Ipek (for some reason) gets into Kaya's car and they chase after Zerrin and Demir.
Alya walks into the hospital very concerned and despondent. The weight of the decision is on her shoulders. Cihan is shown in his office, also depressed, pondering things. - End episode.
