Refugio Para el Amor #58-59 Thu 7/5/12 The "Silent Partner" is Silent No More, Julie Gives Gala a New Idea, Lastra Puts His Plan in Motion

Part I

Mexico City:

Luci and Rod have gone to see Padre Honesto, who isn't in his office, Rod goes to find him,and Luci gets a dizzy spell. She has to sit down. Rod has tracked the Padre down. He is now in the office with them and tells them marriage is a lifetime commitment, a holy sacrament, and a promise before Dios. They assure the Padre their love is very strong, and can basically withstand anything, too bad they don't see that piecart.

Lastra is having a meeting with someone, all we see his the other person's hand with a coffee cup. Lastra is looking nervous. The camera pans and we finally get to see who is meeting with Lastra. It is, wait for it, Max of course, who is now not the "silent partner" anymore. They are in a nice restaurant having coffee. Max is lighting into Lastra who he says is incompetent. Max informs him the files at Inferno have been breached. Lastra thinks there must be some kind of mistake, can't be. He is trying to assure Max that noone breached those files, but we all know Aldo did, as does Max, I think. Max tells Lastra, vaya, vaya, you are supposed to be brilliant. Lastra wants to investigate, but Max tells him to, wait for it, LARGATE. Now Lastra is practically begging Max not to fire him. I'll be good, you'll see. Max is telling him no, so sorry, so sad, NOT. And what's this now, could it be, did you look closely??? Anyone??? Lastra is, wait for it, CRYING. I'm not kidding, what a baby, and he is still begging Max. He wants another chance, it involves Max's family, I think, and he touches Max on the arm. Of course, Max tells him no mi tocas, and never, eva to mention his family. He is begging and pleading with Max. Max asks him if he would guarantee his life over this matter. Lastra says he will guarantee it with his life. Lastra is still crying like a baby.

Conny and Rosa have arrived at Claudio's office. Norma greets them. Lic Barrera, who must be covering for Claudio while he is gone, asks the ladies if he can help them in anyway. Rosa is looking for Claudio, and Lic Barrera informs her that Claudio is presently out of the country and should be back in a couple of days. Rosa informs Lic Barrerra about who she is, gives him her card, and tells him she needs to get in touch with Claudio as soon as possible, it is urgent. They go.

Since Claudio wasn't in his office, Conny and Rosa go for coffee instead. Conny is very happy with Rosa for wanting to finally tell Claudio the truth. She thanks Conny for going with her. (Ed Note: I really think Rosa was going to tell Claudio, HER truth, as it is in her screwed up mind, jus' sayin'). Rosa seems to think the fates aren't with her to tell Claudio the truth, cause he wasn't there. Conny tells her to tell Claudio the truth, as soon as he gets, back and not by phone, por favor.

Frigid and Mati are talking about Luci. Frigid is saying you recommended this servant and now she thinks she is the duena of this casa. Mati tells her to let it go already, and Mati gives her the stinkeye.

Max has made it back home and he is in Pato's room. They are talking about their trip to Boston. Pato is worried. Rosa comes in and Max wants to know where she was at. They start arguing in front of Pato, who is not happy with this. They are fighting about Pato's health, among other stuff, and Pato has had enough. He tells them to get out of his room. Max goes, Rosa wants to stay but he makes Rosa go too. Pato is upset.

Julie and Gala are at Gala's and Julie says that the condition that Rosa is in now, her mental instablity, is good to fleece her of money, not really, but to get more money out of her. Then Julie comes up with a brilliant idea. Try and get pregnant, say what??? Just imagine how much money we could get for that baby. That would be one lucky baby, the Torreslanda fortune is immense.

After being thrown out of Pato's room, Rosa goes to the kitchen and Mati tells Rosa she ought to listen to Max. Rosa thinks her marriage, bit by bit, is falling apart.

Rod and Luci are in the hood and Rod wants to live with Luci in the apartment. They have a playful tiff, about who it belongs to, he says theirs, she says his. They finally agree its theirs. Dona Estella comes by,and Rod and Luci go with her. Marinita is there, she is missing her mama, and Dona Estella is worried about Ofelia. Rod has an idea. He will find out where she is at, and help her. Dona Estella and Marinita are over the moon with that, and Rod tells Dona Estella he is over the moon, very thankful she has taken such good care of Luci. Hot Bod Rod and Luci smoochy.

At Inferno, Lorenzo is at his post in the casino, Aldo and Vicky are gambling, and Fabian is in the casino too, where he isn't supposed to be. Ivan tells Lorenzo to get to work, stop talking to the clientle, and he tells Fabian to get back in the bodega. Aldo hears Ivan giving them a hard time, and tells Ivan to lay off, cause one day I could be your boss. Well Lastra is right behind Aldo as he says this, and Lastra thinks that Aldo could be his replacement.

Lake Party:

Lula is still bitchy about that drink spilled on her. Hanna, Melissa and Lula are by the pool and some of the guys throw Boris in the pool. Lula is bitchin' about the nacos that came to this party, meaning Lorenzo and Fabian, of course. Lula doesn't like them, especially after Fabian called her Lola, instead of Lula. She doesn't like these naco friends of Hanna. Hanna tells her to shut up already about the nacos. She says Lorenzo is Luci's bro, and that Luci is married to Rod. Lula is like, so he gave up Gala the marvelous for that chacha? Lula can't beleive it. Hanna and Melissa are not happy to hear Lula talk like that. Lula can't beleive that Rod married a servant. I guess Lula must be a Rosa-wanna-be!

Mexico City:
Max is in the library and Rod comes in. Max is waiting for Hanna to come home from Boris' party. He tells Rod he likes Luci, and has no problem with her. Max says she is a great girl. Rod changes the subject and wants to know what Max was doing with Vicky. He tells him Pato and he saw Max with her. Rod wants to know what that is about. All Max wants to know if Rod runtolddat to anyone? Rod assures him he hasn't told anyone. Rod doesn't want to hurt the family like that and he would never hurt his Mama Rosa. Max tells Rod sometimes the best marriages are difficult. Max tells Rod that Mama may be to blame for some of it. Rod doesn't agree. Max says he worked very hard to get where he is at, so his children could enjoy the life they now live, but Rod tells him in the process he ignored Mama and that marriage is a job for two people not one. Rod doesn't think Max is happy with Rosa.

Luci is at Estella's talking when the phone rings. Luci answers and it is Paz. She tells Luci she can't wait to come to the D.F. to see her marry. She tells Luci about the disaster the house is in. She says she misses her and Lorenzo and now it's just Ariche and Magda with her in Het Het. Luci tells her the Torreslandas treat her well, all except Rosa of course. Luci tells her about Rosa saying Aurora when she saw Luci all dressed up in her city clothes. Paz is shocked. Luci tells Paz that is her lawyer's dead wife's name. Ruh roh. Paz wants to know what lawyer. Claudio Linares of course. Paz drops the phone and has to sit down, and Theo, their helper is fanning her as Paz has had a little panic attack.

Rod has gone into the hallway, and Boris has brought the girls home from the party. Rod tells Hanna that Papa Max is in the library waiting for her. Hanna tells Rod that she is excited about doing more shopping with Luci, and Melissa is coming with. They are very happy.

Hanna and Melissa go in the library and talk to Max. Max wants to know how the party went they say fine. Hanna goes off and Melissa is talking to Max. He wants to know how her thesis is going. Melissa tells him great. She tells her Tio Max that Claudio is a great man, very brilliant in his field and interesting to boot. Max gawks at Melissa, Ha. Hanna comes back in and says that she and Boris are novios like he and Mama.

Pato is in bed thinking about he and Rod seeing papa with Vicky. He can't sleep, Mati comes in. He tells her he is not looking forward to this operation again. Mati tries to reassure him that maybe he can move better after this one. She tells him he is just normally worried, as anyone would be. He tells her he wants a grand love like Luci and Rod.

Rosa is in her bedroom, applying cold cream to her face, and she is basically rubbing her face raw. She is thinking about the truth. Rubs her face harder.

Luci is talking to Estella about the strange moment when Rosa seemed to think that Luci was Aurora. Luci says she can ask Mati tomorrow, cause Mati knew her after all. Estella is not looking at Luci and hiding her face. Luci tells Estella how Rosa and Claudio are friends and that Rosa was there when Claudio's baby was born and when Aurora died. Luci doesn't understand why Rosa called her Aurora. Luci leaves and Estella is fanning herself like crazy.

Vio is singing in the casino, it is actually a new song and I like her new "luke" less makeup and a nice wig. Aldo and Vicky are at the gaming table and Lastra is trying to talk to Aldo. Aldo blows him off. Ivan and Lastra go to Lastra's office and Latra is bitching about how he can't stand Aldo. Lastra thinks maybe Aldo got into those files. Ivan is like Que, no way. Impossible. Lastra says the boss is way pithed about it. Lastra says he only has one chance to make it right. Meanwhile back at the gaming table, Aldo is betting and Lorenzo thought bubbles to himself that Aldo is up to something.

Meanwhile, Julie, 'Nanda and Valentina and Gala are together, and Julie, 'Nanada and Valentina are getting sloshed and talking about ruining that chacha's life, while Gala is on sofa having a pity party for one, she is thinking about wanting Hot Bod Rod in her arms. She lurrrvvves him so.

Rod has come for Luci in the hood, and there are a bunch of woman, handwashing laundry and they see Rod and Luci together. Rod tells Luci she is like a star that dropped from heaven, they smoochy, all the ladies clap.

Rosa is once again, BSC, and also at, guess where, her favorite place, no not Padre Honesto's it is , wait for it, Aurora's grave talking to the grave once again. (Note to Rosa, I really hope one of these days they would have a ghost scene, where Aurora comes out of that grave to haunt your butt, jus' sayin'). Anyhoo, she accuses Aurora of making her life miserable through her daughter Luci, oh come on now! She wants to be left in peace, as if. She tells Aurora to go, and that Luci will ruin her family. (Second note to Rosa: Honey you did that all by your lonesome 19 years ago). The caretaker of the graves comes over to Rosa and says many tombs have been abandoned here over the years and that Aurora's was for a time, until recently. He is more concerned about the poor little abandoned children's graves all over the cemetary, and they are quite a few. Rosa gets that insane glint in her eye and she wants him to do a service for her. She wants him to move a child 's body into the grave of Aurora, as if the child died with Aurora, yuck.

Het Het:

Copio, Magda and Paz are all together, and Copio is telling them to stop saying bad things about Don A. Magda, she is a fierce woman, backs Copio into the fireplace and tells him basically to shut it. Paz is pithed that Don A basically threw them out in the street, penniless, with nowhere to go, and he filled her house up with his junk and boxes she wants the crap out, yesterday. They tell Copio to tell Don A that Senora Paz and Senora Magda are looking for his sorry a$$. They go and Copio has a little convo with that stuffed wild cat on Don A's desk. He is mimicking Paz and Magda while he is at it.

Magda and Paz are at Paz's house. Paz thinks it is as dusty and dark as Don Serapio's funeria. Magda lights a candle so they can see, as they have no power.

Magda goes to see Don A and the insults immediately start. He calls her a bruja (witch) she calls him an infeliz (wretch). Magda is giving Don A hell about the condition of Paz's house. Don A thinks that Paz should be grateful he gave the house back to her. Magda says that house was beautiful and you ruined it with all your crap. She tells him to send Copio round to get rid of it all. Don A tells her she shouldn't demand things of him, he is after all the Big Cheese, doncha know. He tells Magda he is going to the D.F. soon. Magda is surprised.

Meanwhile, Theo has taken the phone from Paz and tells Luci on the other end, that Paz has had a little fainting spell, and Luci says while he tends to her she will stay on the line. Paz revives a little and takes the phone from Theo and talks to Luci again. Luci wants to know what about Rosa and Paz. Paz tells Luci she is fine and will talk to her manana.

Theo has escorted Paz back to Magda's and Theo says he will be by to check on her tomorrow. Magda wants to know what is going on, what has upset Paz so? Paz tells her Luci told her something she doesn't like. Magda and Paz are still talking. Paz says she can't wait to see Rosa Torreslanda again, what will she think? (She's off her rocker, just wait till she sees you Paz, she will totally freak, jus' sayin'). Paz says that Claudio Linares is close to Luci, her true Papa.

Copio is with Don A and Don A informs him he will be going to the D.F. and will be gone a little while. It's better that he goes right now, what with the condition that Paz's house is in and that he helped Paz, who is now raising hell.

In the best scene of the night, Conny and Oscar have managed to have a whole date by themselves and they are dancing. Oscar has some good moves I have to say. Very smooth. Sigh! He kisses Conny and calls her sexy. He says he only wants a kiss, but wants to be her novio too. They finally kiss some more and they continue to do their dance.

Part II

Mexico City:

Rosa is still talking to the caretaker about moving a child's body into Aurora's grave, and she tells the caretaker, ask me no questions, but here take this wad of bills for your, ahem, "services", grave robbing anyone. The caretaker is agog with all this money.

Max, Pato, Hanna, and Melissa are in a cafe for breakfast when Rod and Luci join them. Max says he has some questions for Luci. Luci tells them all about her family life in Het Het, how her Mama Paz does beautiful cermanics, the signature pieces being hearts, I think. She also talks about Galindo and how protective he always was of her. Rod tells them all about Ariche and what a little man he is. Max wants to know if they are coming to the wedding. She says yes, Magda, Paz and Ariche. Max is looking forward to it. Now H&M want to know what is planned for the reception. Luci doesn't want one, just the wedding but Rod tells her that they have to have one. She caves and everyone is happy. (I'm still not liking that piecart).

Fabian and Lorenzo have brought breakfast to Vio and Vio says how nervous they were last night. Seems there is 30  thousand pesos missing from Inferno. Now I don't know who took that money, Aldo with the computer, Lastra making it look like money is missing, or Lorenzo ripping it off to give to Aldo, if anyone knows please explain. Anyhow, Vio is getting all over Lorenzo and Fabian about the missing money. She lets Lorenzo know that Lastra was just threatening Luci yesterday and what will Rod's family think. Vio wants to know where the money is and that there will be an investigation! Vio tells Lorenzo he was responsible for that money and that his liberty is at stake., he could end up in the carcel. Lorenzo wants to go to Torreslandas to find Aldo but Vio says you'll run into Rosa and you don't want that. Vio gets all over Fabian's case too cause she thinks he was somehow involved too. Vio wants them both to go, she is beside herself. Dona Estella and Marinita have come by and Vio is also having a pity party for one about Marcial. Marinita is telling Vio it is like watching her Mama cry for her Papa. They leave and there is a knock on the door. It is, wait for it, Marcial. He is trying to hug her and call her mi amor. She slaps the crap out of him, won't listen to his excuses and shoves him out the door. ( I like how she did that). He is banging on that door, while she is inside, laughing at him, but happy he came by. She doesn't let him back in.

Speaking of the money, Ivan is counting it in the Inferno office when he notices the shortage, he calls Lastra and informs him of the missing 30 thousand pesos. Lastra is very gleeful and says now both Lorenzo and Luci are ladrons (theives). Good he says.

Frigid and Mati are in the kitchen and Frigid wants to know why Mati likes Luci so much. Mati tells Frigid that Luci is a good girl, and Frigid wants to know like say, a nun? Mati has to remind Frigid one more time that Luci is now married to Rod, and Mati goes. Frigid mocks her behind her back once she leaves. About this time, Gala calls wants the latest info on what is going on in the house. Frigid tells her Rosa went to church and all the rest went to a cafe for breakfast. Also when Gala calls Frigid she is in bed, mama Julie is sitting on the side of the bed, and 'Nanada and Valentina passed out on the sofas from too much drinking the night before. Julie wants to know what about Conny? She is out with Oscar. Frigid also tells Gala that Oscar and Conny are acting like novios. Julie doesn't like that. Julie grabs that phone from Gala and hangs up on Frigid. Frigid doesn't know where Rod is. So Gala wakes up 'Nanada and Valentina and tells them to call Marcos and Gabe and ferret out where Rod is already. They are complaining cause they are hung over, and Gala doesn't want to hear it, she tells them to get on the phone already! 'Nanda has gotten hold of Marcos and makes her request. He calls 'Nanda back and tells her Rod is in hood with Luci, which she tells Gala. Gala can't beleive Rod is in the hood with that servant!

Rosa comes home and wants to know where everyone is. Mati tells her they all went out to breakfast. Rosa is pithed everyone got to go with Pato but her and they didn't even wait. She tells Mati everyone must be bothered by my presence and you too Mati, eh? Rosa says she means nothing to anyone and she stalks off.

Lorenzo and Fabian are together, and Lorenzo calls Aldo. He is worried bout that money. Aldo tells him not to worry, to chill. He says to wait for a bit and not to tell Luci. Lorenzo is upset and hangs up. Aldo is at Vicky's and he is talking to Don J too. He wants permission to court Vicky. Don J tells him about the employee reg again, and tells him no. Aldo tells him Vicky is not the employee. Vicky is grinning and Don J is frowning, and Don J says only give permission if you run this by Tio Max. Vicky is now looking perturbed and doesn't want to cause any problems. Don J says the only way he will let Aldo court Vicky if he gets permission from Max. Vicky is holding up her finger like wait a sec, but Aldo tells Don J not to worry, to relax and Vicky is grinning again.

Marcial is in the courtyard, when Luci and Rod come in followed by Hanna and Melissa. Marcial talks to Luci about Vio and what happened. I think he gives Luci a message for Vio saying he'll be back later. Lorenzo and Fabian come by too. Rod's phone rings and it is guess who, anyone??? It's Marcos of course trying to find out where Rod is. Rod tells Marcos, of course, where he is and with whom.

Frigid comes to Rosa's room to see if she wants anything. She sends Frigid to bring her some tea. Frigid goes.

Max is in Pato's bedroom and they are talking about their trip to Boston and the operation. Rosa marches right in there and wants to know why they didn't wait for her to come back, before going out. She is pithed. Max leaves and she tells Pato that Max is using him for an excuse.

Max is in his and Rosa's room when a cellphone rings. It is Rosa's phone. It keeps ringing and Max picks it up and sees it is,wait for it, Claudio Linares! Rosa is in the hallway, and Max comes storming out of the room and wants to know why the hell Claudio is calling her. What is that about? She tells him he wanted her to tell Claudio the truth, right, right? (Frigid meanwhile has brought the tea tray, and is hiding behind the wall in the hallway, using her method of listening again). Max accuses Rosa of her obsession with thinking that Rod and Luci are sibs and Frigid from her hiding place, drops that tea tray, being very shocked from what she just heard. The stuff on that tray, is scattered everywhere. Rosa goes to check it out, and Frigid has the deer in the headlights look. Frigid starts cleaning up the mess, and Max is staring up at the ceiling. They say not a word to Frigid and she takes all the mess with her and goes.

Oscar and Conny have come back from their night of romance. Oscar has to go to the office, cause Max is leaving with Pato and he wants to make sure everything is up to snuff while Max is away. Conny completely understands. They smoochy.

Rosa and Max have now moved into the bedroom and Rosa tells Max how she went to see Claudio and found out he is away right now. She went to his office to tell him the truth (I think it was to tell him HER TRUTH ya know the sibs thingy) and how she doesn't want to be tormented anymore with this truth. She goes. Max thought bubbles about Rod telling him he never paid attention to his Moms.

Rosa goes into the kitchen looking for Frigid. Mati tells her she went to her room. Rosa tells Mati to go tell Frigid she wants a meet in the library. Mati goes to do that. Meanwhile Frigid is in her room in a quandry. What to do with this bombshell. Frigid thinks this info is worth its weight in gold, the sibs thingy. She thinks Gala will fill that designer purse up with dinero over this info. Mati is knocking on the door, and Frigid is hiding that purse. Mati informs Frigid that Rosa is awaiting her presence in the library.

The Luci Gang: Hanna, Melissa, Lorenzo, Fabian, and Rod and Marcial are still in the courtyard. Luci runs upstairs real quick to give Vio that message from Marcial, who has left, and meanwhile Lorenzo and Hanna are talking. Lorenzo wants to know all about his novio of Hanna's. Does she like him, really like him. Hanna says of course she likes him, really likes him, but she is hestitating way too much. Melissa is grinning. Lorenzo asks Hanna, Musho Musho like him. Hanna says uh, yeah. Lorenzo is awed. Luci wants to know from Vio why she didn't talk to Marcial.

Frigid is in the library with Rosa finally. Rosa wants to know exactly how much she heard with her eavesdropping skills. Well you know what I mean. Frigid swears what are you talking about, I heard nothink!!! Rosa tells her when you work for this family, you are expected to be the soul of discretion (yeah right) and you will never talk about this. Frigid agrees never say a word, promise, while she has those fingers crossed behind her back. Rosa tells her if she EVER finds out she squealed, um talked, she will put her out on the street. Frigid swears never to utter a word. Yeah right.

Meanwhile, The Luci Gang: Fabian, Lorenzo, Vio, Hanna, Melissa and Rod are talking about preps for the wedding and refurbishing the apartment. Lorenzo and Fabian go off somewhere and that leaves the rest to do the shopping.

Oh, Dios Mio the Don has gone by plane to the D.F. The security guy is wanding him and Don A wants to know what all the fuss is for, anyhow. Then he is asking the guy about food I think. The Don gets to a taxi stand right there at the end of the belt and a porter wants to know if he can take his bags. The Don says sure and follows the porter outside.

Julie and Gala are gloating about taking Luci down, cause the Don arrives today. Lastra calls Gala. Lastra is having his shoes shined by Ivan as he is talking to Gala. I guess Lastra laid this trap with the money, cause he is telling Gala that Luci and Lorenzo fell into his trap. They are very happy. Lastra hangs up and wants to know what about Vio? She'll be busy in the casino and they are still laughing. (Note to Lastra: You are truly an idiot. Wait till your Jeffe finds out what you have done to his Dil, her bro, her friend and that Gala and Julie were involved. Wouldn't want to be you, jus' sayin').

The Luci Gang is in a huge store that sells all kinds of kitchen things, tv's, gym equipment, all the things needed in a home. They are all having a ball. Luci sees a crib, ruh roh, she really likes. Rod says he likes it too, and what better thing, than if she were to get pregnant like yesterday. Luci likes the idea and they smoochy, when from afar, who should see them, 'Nanda and Valentina who just happen to be in the same store. 'Nanda has to pull Valentina off before Rod and Luci see them.

Julie and Gala are at the apartment, when guess who calls already, that's right it is 'Nanda with the latest chisme about Rod and Luci in the baby department, kissing over a crib. Gala is very pithed, Julie tries to touch her and Gala is all don't touch me. Julie tries to tell Gala not to listen to them and that they still have their plan in the works, cause Don A is coming.

Lorenzo is calling Aldo again. Aldo is with Vicky. She reminds Aldo of the promise he made to her Papa. Aldo calls his Moms and says he needs a huge favor. We don't hear what that is.

All of the Luci Gang has come back and Vio and Luci are talking about Marcial. Luci goes and Polo is knocking on the door. Vio was expecting Marcial. Polo has brought a beautiful flower for Vio. He wants to take her out, but she wants to wait a bit. She is waiting for Marcial but Polo doesn't know that. Polo decides to wait with her. Vio is constantly checking the time and her cell, and decides she has waited long enough. Vio and Polo leave.

Luci, Lorenzo, Fabian, Rod, Marcos and Gabe have all converged on a bar that plays mariachi music. The band is playing , everyone sits down and Rod grabs Luci and they dance as Rod says the words of the song. They look like they need to get a room, and they finally sit down. Lots of smoochies.

Pato is in his bed asleep and Rosa is stroking his face. Rosa so wants Pato to get well and more movement. Max tells her the diagnosis from this Doc in Boston is very good. With this operation he may get more movement. Rosa evidently wasn't paying attention cause she is upset this is taking place now, when there is a matter of life and death to deal with here.

Meanwhile, in the last bit of the evening, in another part of town, the conspirators to take Luci down, that would be Gala, Julie and Lastra are awaiting the Don. It almost looks like a mafia Don meet, when in strolls the Don. He comes to the table tells him who he is, and sits down. Don is giving them the eye.

Brussels, Belgium:

Guess where Claudio is? Anyone? That's right in the hometown of M. Hercule Poirot, Brussels, Belgium. He is there on a mission. Lic Barrera is calling him from Claudio's office in the D.F. Claudio is there, much like M. Hercule Poirot, to ferret out some info on banking and fraud. He is at a convention of attorneys who specialize in these things. He tells Lic Barrerra this is part of his investigation into his alleged fraud charges. Claudio wants to know why Lic Barrerra is at the office on a Sunday? Lic Barrerra tells Claudio that Rosa came to see him and it is urgent he get in touch with her. Claudio is very surprised and says Urgent???

Het Het:

Paz is telling Magda she remembers Ms Aurora and that she was a wonderful woman. Ariche comes in with Don A right behind. Don A has come to inform the ladies that he is going to the D.F. manana to look for his little palomita! Don A is feeling up the fruit again on Magda's counter, what is it with Don A and fruit, jus' sayin'. Anyhoo, Paz informs Aquiles that Luci is not alone in the D. F. Don A says he ain't worried bout that and he is NOT spilling the beans. Ariche is worried, he doesn't trust the Don.

Magda and Paz are cleaning Paz's house. Paz is very worried that Don A is going off to the D.F. in search of Luci again. They are also worried about Vio. Ariche comes by with Dona Lucita who was at Magda's looking for them. Dona Luchita apologizes to them over the house, she didn't know Don A was scamming them, like he scammed her. Paz and Magda decide to be nice to Dona Lucita and invite her over for some nice hot chocolate in the morning. She is very happy to have found some new friends and she hugs and kisses Ariche.

Don A is all packed up and ready to go to the D. F. and tells Copio to load up the bags. He also tells Copio to get all that stuff out of Paz's house. Copio wants to know when the Don is coming back. Don tells him not to worry about that!

Advances:

Ivan accuses Lorenzo of theft.

Rosa with Julie in the background look like they have Rod cornered and are telling him Luci isn't as decent as she says she is.

Rod confronts Luci with the magazine cover and asks her, if that in fact is her on the cover. Luci is shocked.

Abismo de pasión #81 7/4/12: Dam grows some backbone even at the worst of time, Gael tries to take advantage of the moment and Dr T shows his negotiating skills while AssGusto implodes

 Recap by Marta Ivett
Refrito:
Assgusto asks TangHo what is itching her now?. She starts to take a few foxtrot backsteps on the ‘Elisa is not your daughter’ script… I should have kept quiet, what if the lab results were wrong? We can’t be sure… you gotta be kiddin me! Don’t know why you doubt now what you have played on the circular tape recorder for many years. What game are you playing? Years ago you told me that Stefie had made you believe it was true… I gotta go get me some black tea.
Gael and Padre at rectory,
Padre heading to Merida tomorrow, turns down Gael’s offer to drive him there. Gael heads to bedroom but turns around … ok “suelte la sopa”, what is up with you?... don’t worry, I am ok. But Dam is not ok. … say what?... You better sit down, this will be a tough bite to swallow, maybe you can help me convince him it was all a huge misunderstanding. … Gael puts on his signature clueless face.
At Castigo manor foyer/door,
Lucio tries to warn AssGus, Elisa comes over, no need to soften the blow. AssGu has already planted the seed of doubt and there is no weeding it back out. Since you are not my daddy I won’t stay in this house.
Lo Nuevo…
Still at Castigo manor… AssGus cannot make Elisa change her mind. Lucio has no choice but to accept the house guest(S)… again…  This is your home… no, when my mom died it stopped being my home. I will go pack… Dolores and Horacio are already packing their things too…. AssGus devastated, Lucio tries to console him.
In another room in Castigo manor, Horac is clueless and a big questioning about why they also need to go.. no need to call me brute… it is for my nina Elisa, she is going through a bitter moment and we need to be there for her… but going to plant ourselves at Don Lucio’s on top of taking his business locale, it is a big load on him… well, you can stay but I have to go… no need to even say that.
Flo and Alfie at hacienda…
Alfie irritated at seeing Flo cry so much (really?... well, each major household in the novela has its crybaby and waterworks… As soon as you get pregnant with my son I will get your dad out of jail... Flo not buying, she knows Alfie is manipulating her into giving her a grandson. Alfie has all the cards on the table right about now… I know MY Daddy is no thief, he says Gabino had a lot to do with it… Gabino is a loyal dog of mine, incapable of biting the owner’s hand… (you wish)… I can’t compete with Elisa, Dam chose her!... from now on you have the way free with Dam. Elisa won’t be a hurdle for you anymore… I don’t get it… no need for you to get it. Just be very nice to Dam from now on, he will be back at hacienda soon…
Gael with Dam in the shared bedroom, (nice to see Gael so supportive again, Dam is devastated)… who would have said it?... you can’t think Elisa and you are sibs!... but I have not found any proof to the contrary… in accepting it you would be giving up on her!... Elisa is right that we can’t just ignore what happened, we can’t risk or avoid the possibility that we are indeed sibs… (Gael sad, feeling useless)… how can I forget her? How can I forget her kisses, her smiles, what can I do to not see her as a woman anymore?... (shoulder rubbing in support… or is this just a fake act on Gael’s part?).
AssGus and Elisa in her room, she is still packing… I don’t want you to go… no use staying if I am nothing of yours… even if we don’t share blood, I am your dad, I raised you, you grew alongside me… that about raising me is a relative term, you always kept yourself at a distance, I think you always wanted to get me away from you… I need you, what can I do to convince you?... nothing, I have made up my mind. Goodbye. And thank you. forever.
Inmundo arrives home… BegoneYa was up waiting … he is surprised and confused at her ‘nice’ attitude… Have to go tomorrow to Merida to do an errand. Are you sure everything is ok? .. sure, everything is ok… Sabrina is home? … yes, went to bed right away, she is tired… ok good nite. Begone, are you not going to ask me what is the errand I have to do in Merida?... no, if I do you will say I am a gossip.
Lucio helps Elisa with her stuff heading out of the quinta… Lolita and Horac packed and ready too. Lucio asks Elisa are you sure you want to go? … yes padrino, very sure. … As they all leave, Elisa is last out the door and she turns around to look at the house one last time, TangelHo has been at the other end of foyer, looking away the whole time…
Sabrina gets home, BegoneYa immediately questions her on where she was… don’t try to lie to me, you were with Paolo L, right?  I had told you clearly you could not see him! How can I make you see he is no good for you?... I am old enough to decide. .. what about his affair with Tangel-Ho?... that is over, he told me. Better get used to the idea of me and Paolo, our relationship is progressing/serious.
TangelHo and AssGu alone in quinta, he is quiet, depressed, … she fakes support, telling him she understands… never thought it would hurt me so much that Elisa would leave the house, I have a heavy conscience, even if she is not mine, I should not have treated her like that… don’t torture yourself… she had no need to pay for the fault of others… you are going to the extreme, it is not so bad. She will be back, she will think it over and… no she won’t be back, she was very determined in her decision… what if we tell her it is not true that she is Rosendo’s child?... we can’t play with her feelings like that, she would not go back with Dam and you know it can’t be. What is it you are after with this turnaround? For many years you were the one most interested in letting her find out about it… I know, but everything I am doing is going wrong… Dang, woman, you are giving me a headache. Leave me alone… I am just trying to support you, you are my husband and I love you, even if you don’t feel anything for me. (a headache, that is what he feels, didn’t you hear that??... anyway, he goes to the bottle… his favorite way to handle stress and guilt).
CB 1
At laguna(I got a gulp in my stomach thinking Kenya would be floating around any body of water around La Ermita, but no, false alarm for now)… at Ramona’s cozy hut, Paloma is heading out, she wants to stop by to see Elisa before going to work. Don’t get why she did not leave and don’t know what is her status with Dam… (Ramona is distracted and is not paying attention).. what is wrong abuela? You have been out of it for a few days. (hug) ever since the day I showed you the record of Elisa’s aunt at the doctor’s office… I hope you have not told anyone… of course not, why would I be tweeting around that Elisa’s aunt and Don Aug were rolling in the hay long before getting married?... just get outahere… ok as you wish.
At procesa…
AssGu comes to see Gabino… came to agree to sell Gabino his Cielo Abierto farm. … why the change of mind?... you would be the last person I would sell to in this universe, but I have no other option. Have a debt with your boss I have to pay and have to do it before the interests pile up. So I rang up some numbers and here is what Cielo Abierto is on sale for(throws folder on desk)… ah caray, but I agree with it, it is fair… I will take 50% now, the other 50% when the papers are ready.
Alfie visits Dam at Rectory…
How are you feeling?... how do you think?... I feel that after all that happened lately, things can change between us… I don’t see why… at least we won’t argue about Elisa. Let’s start over please… I don’t think things between us will change only because Elisa and I are sibs!... Think about Flo, it is not fair to her to be burdened with all your problems!... mother, do you really believe that AssGu is right?... well, I would not know any better than I would know what the weather for next Monday... heh? Alright, mom, I accept coming back to the hacienda and going back to work at procesa but with one condition, if Elisa is my sib, she will get half of what is supposed to be mine (Arango fortune), are you willing to do that?...
CB 2
At Lucio’s Lolita has taken over the kitchen, Lucio compliments her on the breakfast… don’t feel obligated to do the housework. You all are my guests… Lolita does not want to turn into a couch potato… Horac went to open the butcher shop already… Elisa comes out, Lucio and Lolita do not like to see her so sad… don’t worry, I won’t let this take me down and I won’t be like this all my life (well, honey, I would sure hope so!! Otherwise Dam should shoot himself right now and get it over with!)… Lucio assures her the misunderstanding will be cleared up soon enough, but Elisa is not so optimistic… Lucio excuses himself to go do an errand in Merida… Lolita proud of Elisa for having a good outlook.. (what good outlook?)
Back to Dam/Alfie.
If Elisa is my dad’s child, she also has rights to what he left me… of course not… then forget about me returning, and I give up on the inheritance… never mind the inheritance, that money is almost gone… what do you mean?... (Alfie tells him about Guido’s fraud at the procesa… the money is gone and Guido does not want to return it, so she had to put him in jail).. Dam really impactado…
At Merida(?) jail,
Enrique Tovar had sent a lawyer to Guido… Guido repeats he is innocent, but lawyer says the case looks bad, there are strong evidences against him.
Enrique looks for Flo at Hacienda, Flo berates him for coming there to see her, he says he had to see her right away to bring her up to speed on what the lawyer dad sent to help your dad told said about what is going on. Paolo comes out and gets sarcastic about Tovar’s lawyer being the one helping Guido. Enrique tells Flo they will move Guido to the reclusorio (long term jail) today.
Back to the rectory,
Dam in disbelief about Guido’s fraud… Alfie assures him she has the proof… Dam knows Guido well, he is incapable of that, I assure you someone is behind it, maybe Gabino or even Paolo. .. that is nonsense, but anyway, you should know that the one suffering the most is Flo, she needs you  more than ever…. Alfie keeps defending Flo and telling Dam he is even partly guilty for the lost money, if he had not left everything behind, none of this would have happened… Dam insists they give Elisa half of whatever is left. Think about it, if you don’t’ then I will give up on everything… don’t blackmail me, you are very unfair to me, independent of whether Elisa is your sibling, I am your mother! I am your mother! I am a lonely woman who needs you because you are my only son. I might have been wrong in some things, but I have always lived for you, dedicated myself to you. When your dad left me, I felt I was unworthy as a woman, and it turns out now you are making me feel that I am unworthy as a mother too!... (walks away upset)… the doors of the hacienda are open for you .. but don’t put conditions to me, I am your mother, not your enemy.
Gael visits Elisa at Lucio’s..
Loopy told me everything… I lost a dad but won a brother…. Don’t play unaffected in front of me, I know you too well. And Dam is suffering too… how is he?... not good. But I didn’t come to chat about don’t-know-yet-but-he-is-my-blood-brother, I care about you! Here you have my arms, my love, my life, and if you say the word I will leave everything behind for you! (wait, Gael, aren’t you still with Paloma?)
CB 3
Gael/Elisa continued…
If you have to forget Dam because you two are sibs, then I am here, give yourself a chance with me!... let me remind you about Paloma, because you are playing with her feelings… you need me now, even if you don’t want to admit it… but you are not free, so don’t talk to me about love now…
At Castigo manor, Paloma arrives looking for Elisa, but finds only Tangel-Ho and we instead watch a sarcasm contest between Pal and Tangel-Ho.. in summary, Pal says it best in the end: the good news is mutual, we won’t have to see each other’s’ faces… but let me tell you that sooner or later you will pay for everything you have done, and I hope it is sooner rather than later (and for your sake, Paloma, leave it there, PLEEZ!! Don’t need another body floating around waiting to pop up out there).
On road, Lucio and Inmundo are driving to Merida.. oh oh, Lucio is driving… seems the truck is a bit older… they hope they will get the answers in Merida that will let them finish the suffering of Elisa..
Loopy is there to see the bishop… (played by our dear Gustavo Rojo)… interesting effect of the hands glowing red in the dark… have a problem, a confession secret that I can’t hold on to anymore… you know they are untouchable… I know, but I need your advice because I am desperate, tormented. For years I have witnessed how a confession, a lie has destroyed the lives of many people, and I have to do something to stop that suffering. I feel like I am the accomplice of the person who said that lie, and I can’t live with that weight on my conscience anymore… ever since you said your vows you were aware of your obligations as a priest… yes but besides a priest, I am a human being and I can’t watch how the people I love are destroyed little by little, have waited many years in silence for the truth to come out, but it has not, instead, things have complicated slowly with time… maybe it was a mistake to leave you there for so long next to your family, maybe it is time to change you to another parish… no don’t, please, not now at least. I have many things unresolved… the way I see it you have no internal peace, and in that state it will be hard for you to continue with your duties… please let me stay for now, later on I will go to anywhere you say, but for now I beg you to let me stay.
Gael and Elisa… he keeps offering but she says at this moment can’t be with Dam or with anyone… Gael appologizes with a hug saying he won't insist again, as Paloma sees them… Elisa walks away.. here comes Paloma following Gael… Gael surprised to see her there, she came by to see Elisa too… she is a bit miffed and Gael notices it, so he questions her. she agrees to tell him… (well, that new barking episode [have to say it is starting very similar to the earlier episode when Gael hugged Kenya after returning to save Dam’s life] will have to wait until tomorrow night… Paloma girl, take a deep breath…)
Oopsie, at Merida labs, it seems Inmundo and Lucio would need the signatures of Elisa and Dam too… Lucio gets desperate waving around his arms in frustration, Inmundo is more calm and tries to convince the nurse that he had already talked to the lab doctor about coming to get the results… she will check with the doctor to confirm. They put the doctor on phone with Inmundo, it is a personal favor…  good news… he will let her give them the results.. PHEW!!!... Inmundo does not want to let Lucio read the results since he wants AssGusto to read them first, but  Lucio can’t wait. He has been waiting too long to know the truth… YEY!!!!! They are not siblings!!! I knew it!!! She is AssGu’s child!!!
(end of ep, oh boy we will see this again tomorrow, such a sweet happy ending!)
well this ep had some of everything... it was the worst of times... it was the best of times...
have to say i don't get Elisa... on one side she slaps the heck out of Flo for speaking ill of her mother, but she is accepting that she and Dam are sibs, and that would only happen if her mother was a H_ like she has denied time and time again... which tune are you singing, Elisa? i dont get it...

Refugio Para el Amor #56-57 Wed 7/4/12

Happy 4th of July! Only, in Mexico it isn't. I was busy grilling meat for a dinner gathering, so melinama set the show to record. Unfortunately, something didn't take, so I missed the first segment of the show. Apologies!

Maximino's cat (the cat of infidelity) is out of the bag of secrecy, as he finds out from a lady (Vicky's mom?). She isn't making threats... yet!

Gala and Luci have a remarkably civil chat! Which is to say, Gala is only a little bit scary and mean. At least, to her face. When Rod and Pat show up and Luci helps Pat into the car, she gazes grumpily through a window at them and says "enjoy it while you can," to ominous music!

At this point, I missed a lot, because the recording (via WinTV) got really bad and was mostly black with no audio. I'm so sorry, but only about 15% of this episode got recorded properly. I caught a bit of Frigida griping about some girl (probably Luci) coming into the house and putting her feet up. Then a big reveal where Gala and her mom let something slip to Rosalena. Ah! It's the fact that Rod and Luci got married!

Violeta is sobbing, but I'm not clear why. Oh, Marcial left her.

Rod and Pat have taken Luci to a fancy restaurant, but she claims to not know how to choose from such a fine menu. They will help her! Rod recommends the empanada de humita.

Back in the country, Luci's mom is worrying about a bad dream she had about Rosalena and misplaced babies. How telling... They're fretting, but then some brawny dude (I don't think I know him) comes over with some goodies sent by Serapio, and then everyone is happy! Mr. Brawny is also here to help them move. How convenient! Brawny-gram!

Maximino's hair-dresser/mistress has a headache. The recording flicks in and out here, but she's acting secretive in the bathroom, so *is she pregnant?* No manches!

Back at the fancy restaurant, poor Pat has to sit and be the third wheel while Luci and Pat mushily gush about their marriage. I wonder if it's a complication of the paralysis that Pat squints all the time...

Maybe Vicky's not pregnant... she was faking the sickness so she could take a romantic bubble bath with Maximino. Ew.

Connie's Galancito gets on his knee and asks her if she'll... be his girlfriend. Cute!

I TOTALLY missed the big reveal re: baby Luci during Matilde's conversation with the priest when the recorded file blacked out. Sorry again, folks!

Now have a great week everyone, and I hope my poor recap didn't ruin your 4th of July! Next week I'll be sure not to rely on a recording!

Refugio Para el Amor #54-55 Tue 7/3/12 Luci Takes Rosa’s Place and Makes the Torreslanda House a Home

Happy 4th of July!!!!

Max finds Rosa in the chapel. He has her swear there in front of God that everything she told him is true. She swears it. He then swears in front of God that he had nothing going with Aurora. Luci is not his child; she’s the child of Aurora and Claudio Linares.” Rosa looks impactada, but does she believe him?

Dona Aquiles gets Luchita good and drunk on all that champagne he had Copio bring. Once the fat lady sings it looks like it’s over, because Luchita passes out on the couch. Don A.’s plan worked to perfection. He tells Copio to get rid of her first thing in the morning.

Paz speaks with Magda and Don Serapio about what to do with her house. She wants to talk to Luci about it. Serapio thanks Paz many times for the dinner and heads out. Paz can’t stop thinking about why Rosa has kept quiet and hasn’t revealed Luci’s true origins. Magda thinks Rosa has kept her mouth shut because she’s in debt with Luci. When Paz and Rosa meet face to face, then she’ll be able to confront her about everything. Paz agrees, because Luci has a right to know who her parents are. Magda corrects her. Luci’s parents were, and will always be, Paz and Galdino.

Rod brings Luci back to Vio’s. She's obviously still upset about the Gala visit. Rod doesn’t like seeing her sad and upset. Nothing and no one with ruin their happiness. Luci says that Gala is right about one thing—Luci stole her man. Rod says he never belonged to Gala. “But you were going to marry her.” Rod says he was lazy and was going through with it because they had been dating for so long. But he didn’t know what real love was. Luci taught him. He’s going to present her to his parents as the woman he loves and wants to spend the rest of his life with. She hugs him, but doesn’t seem convinced. She’s worried about what’s going to happen. He reminds her that he’ll always be at her side, and as long as he’s there, nothing will happen to her. Kisses. But Luci still looks uncertain.

Max can’t sleep, but now that her conscience has supposedly been eased, Rosa is sleeping like a baby. “Luci is the daughter of Aurora Linares.” He rubs his head like he has one of Rosa’s headaches.

Luci tells Estella about Gala’s visit. She doesn’t feel comfortable living in that apartment. She imagined living in a little house with vegetation and lots of sunlight, like in her pueblo. She wishes she and Rod could go live in her little town in the north. Here in the city she feels so unprotected. There’s a knock on the door and it’s Claudio. She gives him a big hug. They discuss the Het Het properties and she thanks him for all he has done and how well he’s treated her. He says it doesn’t compare to the affection she has shown him. He doesn’t have a family and she and her friends have given him a sense of family. Luci apologizes for not telling him about her marriage. He tells her there is no need. He just wishes her happiness. She invites him to her church wedding. He doesn’t know if he can make it, because he’s leaving on a trip tomorrow.

The next afternoon, Vio is blown away by seeing Luci in her new city girl outfit. We don’t see it until Rod walks in. He’s also blown away. Luci is wearing a charcoal, knee length pencil skirt with a bit of flair at the back hem, a muted purple blazer with charcoal piping, and sky high black heels. She looks really unsure about the outfit, but Rod encourages her.

Mati is dressing Pato and they are talking about the family meal with Luci that afternoon. Mati is not sounding very hopeful, but Pato thinks it’s about time that Rosa knows that Rod and Luci are in fact already married. Hannah runs in yelling that they’re here! She and Pato leave and Mati looks anguished.

Rosa tells Connie that she’s going to ask Luci not to marry Rod. She’s already asked Rod and Max, who didn’t listen to her. Connie begs her find out if what she thinks is true. She tells Connie that she told Max and he denied it. But she doesn’t believe him. (Good grief!)

The whole family is in the living room and excited. They all welcome Luci (who stumbles a bit in her heels) with open arms. Rosa, however, has her back turned to them all. When she turns and sees Luci dressed in such a classy manner, she starts envisioning Aurora is standing there. She says Aurora’s name and falls into a dead faint. Connie, Hannah and Rod rush to her aid. Luci leans over her, gently calling her, and cradles her head while everyone rushes for something to revive her.

Gala is having her usual bitch session in her office with her two girlfriends. She’s offended by how Rod kicked her out of the apartment and made her leave the keys.  Fernanda is agreeing with Gala that Luci stole Rod. But Valentina, ever the voice of reason, says that Rod isn’t some little kid that can be lured away with candy. Fernanda tells her to shut up, but Gala actually agrees with her. But she is still convinced that she’ll get him back.

Max, Mati and Connie have taken Rosa to her bed. Max leaves to call the cardiologist, and Mati remembers how high strung Rosa was as a child. “I don’t need a doctor. I need to cure my soul.”  She says that she told Max the truth. But look what’s happened anyway. “Luciana is Aurora—come back to chastise me. Nothing has happened to Max. Nothing! Rod and Luci can’t get married because they’re half siblings.” Connie and Mati look at each other like, what are we going to do with this nut? “They don’t know the terrible sin they are going to commit.”

Downstairs… well, let us all savor this moment. Frigida is serving Luci and calling her señorita. Rod comes down and updates everyone. Max is speaking to the cardiologist and they will need to do other tests on Rosa. However, Max and Pato will still go on their trip to Boston. Pato tells Luci that he will come back from the trip with good news. Max rejoins the family. The doctor is on his way. They must all make sure not to upset Rosa. She needs tranquility. (Considering she’s the one causing all the drama, that will be difficult.)

Gala continues to whine that at this very moment Luci is occupying the place that is rightfully hers.  Rod’s life and his heart—and his fortune too, Valentina helpfully points out. Fernanda feeds her a cookie. LOL! Julie arrives and invites the girls out to eat, and to drink champagne, of course. Gala’s assistant brings in all the arrangements she’s made for Don Aquiles.

In Het Het, Copio tells Don A. how Luchita woke up with a massive hangover and is probably right now still trying to sleep it off. Surprise, surprise! Luchita bursts in, more perky than ever. She’s ready to give the Don what he missed last night when she fell asleep. She blows him a kiss; he dodges it and looks worried.

Aldo is hungry and goes to the kitchen to pick at the food. Max catches him while he’s trying to call Lorenzo. (Thank goodness it wasn’t Vicky!) Aldo says it’s business related, but Max just scowls at him and tells him to get to work. Max has the rest of the family sit at the dining table and asks Luci to sit in Rosa’s chair at the head. Frigida is not pleased. Max informs her that Rosa is eating in her room with Connie. Once the meal is over, Luci entertains them with tales of Het Het. Everyone is happy and all smiles, even Max. She tells them how she met Rod and Pato the first time. Max asks Luci her parents’ names. With that piece of info, it’s all coming together for Max now. He thanks Luci for making them feel like a family again.  Luci asks permission to make them all her special coffee and rushes to the kitchen. Max says her it’s her home and she can do what she wants. Melissa tells Rod that Luci is going to make him a great wife, and Hannah invites them to Boris’ party. Rod says they have too much wedding stuff to do.

In the kitchen, Frigida stares coldly at Luci as she prepares the coffee and asks for the location of something. Frigida snippily says that Luci has already forgotten that she was a servant in this house. Luci hasn’t forgotten. She remembers very well where she and her family come from—her mother who makes ceramics and her father who worked the land. “Oh, what class!” Luci says it’s not class; it’s pride. Her parents taught her to respect herself and to respect others. She calls Frigida a buttinsky (metiche) and goes about her business.

In the dining room, Max is having a great time with the kids. They make fun of Hannah always being late and rushing around, and Max talks about Rod and Pato when they were that age. Max acknowledges that it’s been a long time since they’ve been like this. Luci comes out and tells them that soon they’ll start to smell the delicious aromas of the coffee. Max says that it will make the house smell like a home (hogar). Awww!

Vio prepares dinner at her place and wonders how Luci is doing at her meal with the in-laws. She envies her. Marcial makes a surprise visit. She invites him to eat with her, but what he’s craving is her. He starts devouring her with kisses.

Fabian and Lorenzo are also eating, but on the roadside. Aldo calls and asks if they still want to go to the party. Aldo again tells him he can bring Fabian. He then asks if Lorenzo was able to get hold of the Inferno keys. Nope. Well not to worry. Aldo says he’s almost cracked the passwords to get into the accounts.

Luci accompanies Pato to his room. He keeps correcting her when she falls into using Usted with him instead of Tu. She is so happy and proud of him for fighting to regain mobility. He says it’s all due to her. She was the one who motivated him when she first came to the house. She says that the will to live was already in him. Pato compliments her on her outfit. She thanks him, but admits she misses her long skirts and belts/bands, and her feet hurt like crazy in those darn heels. Pato tells her he has a surprise for her. He has her take a folder out of a drawer. It’s all the paperwork she needs to prepare for and take her secondary school exams. Hannah will go with her tomorrow. Luci runs to him and kisses him. Rod comes in and she shows him what Pato did for her. They forget he’s there for a second as they get all touchy feely, and poor Pato looks like he’s dying inside.

As they say farewell, Hannah tells Luci they still have more shopping to do—for the wedding dress and for H&M’s dresses as well. Luci shakes Max’s hand in thanks, but he takes her hand and kisses it while thanking her. After Rod and Luci leave, Max and Hannah agree that Luci is lovely. Hannah wants him to convince Rosa. (Good luck with that!)

It seems like the town seamstress is too busy to make Magda and Paz their wedding dresses. They will either have to make them themselves or figure something else out. (I notice that Paz is finally out of her black mourning clothes.) Ariche runs in. He has a surprise for them. His mom has bought white material to make him a new outfit for Luci’s wedding.

Aldo is in Inez’s office, still trying to break the code. They high five because they’ve finally gotten in. Aldo begins to read some info and names in a file. He reads the name of the lead business partner/shareholder of Inferno and jumps back in surprise.

The bitch session of Julie, Gala and her friends continues in a restaurant. Valentina thinks it will be hard to break them up because they are already married. Gala scoffs that it’s just a civil marriage. She (Gala) was already living with him. Valentina points out that Rod obviously prefers Luci. “Shut up and eat Vale!” Julie thinks Luci is obviously after the Toresslanda fortune. (Of course SHE would think that.)

Max has a conversation with Mati and Connie in the home office. He’s worried about Rosa. She’s obviously losing it. From the look of Mati, it seems that she is too. She’s sitting in the chair and crying and sniveling. Max leans in and asks Mati if she always knew the truth about what Rosa did with the baby. Why didn’t she tell him? “It wasn’t my secret to tell, Señor.” Max is pissed. “Giving a child away is a crime! 20 years without telling me a single word!!!”  Max can’t believe that Mati kept this secret from him. Connie jumps to her defense and says she kept the secret too. Max is beyond impactado.

Rod brings Luci to Vio’s. He’ll be back to pick her up later to eat and to do more wedding planning. She needs to get moving on picking the wedding dress too. Luci admits to him that she didn’t choose the one she tried on because that’s a lot of money to spend on just a dress. Rod doesn’t think it’s *just* a dress. It’s her wedding dress!  Luci refuses to argue with him. She’s not spending that much money on a dress. He leaves and she gives him the blessing. Then she immediately slips out of her high heels and unbuttons the blazer, looking very relieved. A messenger comes to deliver a gift box with a rose attached, for Mrs. Luciana Jancinto de Torreslanda. The small card says, “For the lady of my heart.”  The larger card asks her to forgive him for forgetting to take care of this before. All of this leaves Luci smiling from ear to ear. But she’s perplexed by what she finds inside the box. The first item in an expensive, touch screen cell phone. The wallpaper is a picture of her and Rod on their Het Het wedding day, which we can tell she loves. The next item is a fancy wallet with a picture of Rod inside. Once again Luci loves this, but she doesn’t look the least bit pleased to also find a credit card, for Luciana Jacinto de Torreslanda, and a wad of cash inside the wallet. The third item is a checkbook. She shoves everything back in the box and keeps the cards and rose only.

Marcial and Vio are having a meal at an outdoor café. She is surprised by how hard she has fallen for him, but he says from the first moment he saw her he knew she was right for him. He says he’s never known anyone like her. She wants to know what’s next for them, especially after what just happened between them. (Roh roh?!!! Que the hell? Did they do it and just not show us? Is this a post-cositas meal?) Marcial looks just as taken off guard as we are, but he knows Vio means marriage and says so. She seems to think this is an actually proposal of sorts, but the face we see as he hugs her is one of deception and uncertainty.

Back to Max, Connie and Mati in the study. Now he’s venting his rage at Connie for being part of this trio that lied to him and made a fool of him for 20 years about Aurora and Claudio’s child. Connie has Mati leave so that she and Max can continue arguing privately.  She tells him that both he and Rosa have rotten attitudes. Both have helped to drag out (arrastrar) this lie. His egoism and Rosa’s sick obsession have caused this. Neither one of them listens or tries to understand, and they drag all the rest of them into the middle of their madness! And it’s not fair. (No se vale.)

Pato comes in to speak with Rosa, who is in bed. He asks how she feels and what’s going on with her. He notices that she’s anguished and nervous, and knows it has nothing to do with heart or blood pressure troubles. He begs her to confide in him because it hurts him to see her this way. He can’t even imagine what it is, she says. “I haven’t been a good woman. I’m not the good woman that you all think I am.” “With me, you’ve been the most strict mother, but also the most tender. You’ve taught me by example, and that’s what I value, mama. I love you, and so do my siblings and my father. And when there’s love, you can overcome anything.” Rosa gets cryptic again and tells Pato if only he knew, but she doesn’t get to reveal anything because Connie announces that the doctor has arrived. Rosa doesn’t want to see any doctors, and looks more crazy eyed than ever.

Claudio brings fresh flowers to Aurora’s grave. The graveyard director says he will need to sign additional forms soon. When Claudio says that won’t be possible because he’ll be travelling, the director tries to pull a fast one by saying Rosa can sign for him while he’s away and take care of everything. Claudio must hear the audience yelling at him not to do it, because he tells the director NOT to bother Rosa with this and that he’ll take care of it personally when he returns from his trip.

Aldo is so happy about his discovery and that he’s basically floating through the Torreslanda offices and flirting with every girl he sees.

Gala goes to the Inferno to make plans with Lastra for the attack against Luci. They’ll do it in Casa Torreslanda. She mentions Don Aquiles and Lastra remembers him from Inferno.

Rod, Marcos and Gabriel horse around at the office and talk about the magazine exposé and the waitress Rod defended. Since they assume Gala got these photos recently, they assume the waitress must still work there. They think they should go back to have a bachelor’s night, so Rod can see her again. Rod reminds them that he’s a happily (already) married man.

Don Aquiles has decided, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. Luchita is determined to get her night of love and nothing will deter her, so he’s going to pay up. His reputation is at stake. She’s going to have the night of her life! (She’s going to touch heaven.) Luchita happily hears this through the door.

Here's the rest of the recap…

Marianita tries on her hot pink wedding outfit, with wings, for Luci and Estella. She thinks that if Luci invites her mama to the wedding then she will come. Both Estella and Luci know that 1) they don’t know how to reach Ofelia, and 2) an illegal immigrant can’t cross the border back and forth at will. They tell Marianita that Ofelia most likely won’t be able to come, but cheer her up by telling her Ariche will.

Gabriel and Marcos suggest to Rod and Pato that they go to Plaza Garibaldi for Rod and Luci’s noche de despedida (bachelor/ette night). Pato can’t since he’s going to see the specialist in Boston, but he doesn’t want them to wait for him.

Frigida bitches to Mati about Luci sitting in Rosa’s place. Mati tells her to get over it, accept it, and keep her big fat mouth shut.

The doctor tells Rosa that they need to do more tests. He’s still trying to figure out what’s wrong with her. (Isn’t it obvious!) Rosa says she wants to sleep. She wants to sleep forever. After he leaves the room with Max, the doctor tells him that he thinks Rosa’s problem might be neurological, but he wants to do more tests. What he is observing is that whenever there’s an upsetting incident, Rosa disconnects as a defense mechanism. (Dude, that’s psychological, not neurological.)

Gala sends a copy of the magazine to be hand delivered to Luci. “OK Luciana. Let the games begin.”

Max is deep in thought about the Rosa situation when he’s interrupted by Aldo. Now is definitely NOT the time to be getting on Max’s bad side, but Aldo is either crazy or has a huge set of rocks, or both. He tells Max he needs to talk to him about the Inferno. Max says he told him to stay away from places like that, but it looks like he’s going to have to take other measures with him. Aldo says he wants to work there. “What’s it matter to me? What do I have to do with that place?” “Everything, uncle. You’re the owner.” (Ha! Max did NOT see that coming.) He gives Aldo the death glare, but Aldo just stares right back. Aldo continues to tell Max what he knows, but says he won’t say anything. Max denies it at first, but then gets up in Aldo’s face and says if he thinks he’s going to blackmail him, then he’s VERY mistaken. He grab’s Aldo’s lapel and says he better shut his mouth or he’ll find a way to shut it. Aldo tells him to calm down. What he wants is to become a successful impresario like Max. Max laughs at this. Aldo says he needs this job (to learn how to be an impresario), and Max needs someone clever and hardworking like him to have his back. “Yo soy tio.”

Vio comes home and tells Luci that she and Marcial did IT. Luci is in shock and asks Vio if she’s ok.Vio is floating on air, so Luci is happy for her. The best thing is that he’s in love with her and wants to marry her. (Anvils galore for Vio.) A messenger comes to deliver the envelope with the magazine. Just as Luci is opening it, Rod surprises her with an embrace and kisses. The envelope is soon discarded to the counter of a cabinet as the two continue to smooch.

Luci tells Rod that the only things in the box that she needs are the rose, the cards, and the photo of him. The rest are his. “And this? (pointing to the photo) Is this yours?” Luci flirts back and says that he indeed is hers. She has him sign the back of the photo, saying that he’s going to querer and amar her this whole life, and the next, and the next. “Tu mushashon.” They kiss on it. She then puts the photo in her old wallet (which lacks a wad of bills and credit cards).

Padre comes to see Rosa. He wants the update on Max. She told him the truth and he did nothing. He’s going to condemn his own son to committing a mortal sin.

Luci asks Rod’s opinion of her second city girl outfit. This one is a version of her country girl outfit. She’s wearing a floral maxi dress, a wide leather belt, and a delicate lace vest. She’s also wearing higher heels, which makes it a lot easier for Rod to kiss her without bending down so far, I notice. He loves her look, but really, he just loves kissing her a bunch. He tries to make her sign the credit card, and the bank also needs her signature. She refuses. “Luciana de Torreslanda! Everything I have, everything I am, is for you.” They don’t resolve the matter but leave quickly on an important matter, according to Rod. Vio comes out of the bedroom and sees all the loot. Luci says it’s Rod’s. Rod asks Vio to convince Luci to keep it all later. They leave and Vio gathers up the loot to put back into the box. Serena comes home and gushes about Rod. Vio offers coffee and a snack, because she has something big to tell Serena. Vio runs out to get the food, while Serena digs the table mats out of the bottom of a drawer to set the table. When she puts everything back in the drawer, the envelope with the magazine goes with it.

Meanwhile, Gala meets with her mama and amigas. She says that Luci will either be prompted to tell Rod the truth when she sees the magazine, or she’ll hide it. She is sure Luci will hide it, and probably in the depths of a couch. Gala’s logic is that if she had told Rod the truth, Rod would be calling Gala right now to bitch her out about the magazine. Valentina later suggests that they arrange a hen night for Luci—a costume bachelorette party where they dress up as devils…

Padre tells Rosa that if Max won’t confess the truth to Rod, then she has to do it. No. That’s Max’s job, says the nut job. He needs to confess his deception. Padre isn’t convinced. If Max knew Luci was his child he would never allow the relationship between Rod and Luci. Rosa says Padre doesn’t know Max. “Good God Rosalena! I know your husband. The only thing you’re doing is living in torment.” (Rosa’s face during this entire conversation looks like a petulant child who is determined to have things her way.) She tells Padre not to torment her more. He demands that she tells Claudio the truth about his child. She won’t find peace until she does so.

Rod has taken Luci to the family jewelers to choose and get fitted for their wedding bands.

Claudio and Melissa meet about her thesis. He tells her he’s leaving finally for his trip—it's business, not vacation. He asks after her mother. Melissa mentions Rosa’s continued health issues, and her fainting. She thinks it has to do with Luci and explains about the latest fainting spell when Rosa said Aurora’s name.

Max starts shoving Aldo and telling him that blackmail is a crime. Aldo says they’re family. Max says he better be grateful that they’re family, because the last thing he wants to do is cause his mother and sister pain by sending him to jail. Aldo says to think of it as an exchange. Max doesn’t send him to jail, and he’ll remain silent as a tomb. Max says he’s going to think about what to do with him. “What’s to think about uncle? Let’s be partners.” Max throws him out of the library. Aldo has the last word and asks Max to at least change his job at the company—some sort of promotion from driver/delivery boy, to something else. He bumps into Padre on his way out the door and asks for his blessing.

Padre gets right to the point with Max and says he wants to speak about Luciana, the daughter of Aurora Linares. (Signature Max eye roll.)

Melissa’s news about Rosa now has Claudio thinking about Aurora and getting sad. He tells Melissa he spoke to Luci the day before, but won’t be able to make the wedding because of his trip. Melissa describes how happy Rod and Luci are and how much they love each other. It reminds Claudio of his relationship with Aurora. He’s smiling with tears in his eyes. He thinks because Luci looks so much like Aurora, seeing her dressed differently had a deep impression on Rosa. Luci is special for him. She was born the same day as his baby who died with his wife. He apologizes to Melissa for getting all nostalgic, but he always feels Aurora’s presence, as if she’s trying to tell him something that he doesn’t understand. Melissa is happy that he feels comfortable enough to confide in her. He promises to concentrate on helping her complete her thesis and present her final doctoral exam.

Luci and Rod chat about Rosa over dessert. He asks Luci to come with him to the house to see Rosa later.

Pato comes to speak to Hannah about their mama. Pato doesn’t think what’s wrong with her has anything to do with her heart. It’s more serious than that. It’s something that has to do with Luci and Aurora Linares. Hannah knows nothing about Aurora and Claudio since she wasn’t even born. Pato doesn’t remember much, but remembers that Aurora was really lovely and sweet. Hannah wonders if it’s Luci’s resemblance to Aurora that caused the fainting spell. She’d love to see a picture of Aurora and thinks Luci can get them a photo. Pato is surprised to learn that Luci is friends with Claudio, who helped her with some legal trouble. “Are you sure?”

Luci and Rod come to see Rosa. She sits turned from them in cold silence. Rod leaves Luci alone with Rosa to go see Pato. (Why would he do this?! He knows his crazy ass mama hates his wife with a passion.) Luci asks Rosa if she can ask her a question. “Who is Aurora? Why when you saw me did you say Aurora? Who is she?”

Avances: Rosa asks Luci to break up with Rod, if she loves him. There’s a powerful reason why she should.

Abismo de pasión #80 7/3/12 : On the road to the Yúcatan

By Jack Kerouac as told to NovelaMaven in the vision hut behind EJ’s cement cenote.
I drove 25 hours without stopping and now I boomed noisily into the sleepy heat of La Ermita; even though I was all sweaty and raggedy and still a little drunk from that last bottle of tequila and the intoxicating heat of the wild Mexican night itself, I went directly to look for Rosendo and the old Pro Ce gang -- old don Lucio and his lovely, sweet wife Blanca, big handsome Braulio and his girl Lola, and kind old Maru, Rosie’s faithful secretary. I was also hoping to see Estefanía, and I do mean see, as in catch a glimpse of, espy, not do anything else because I knew she was married to some old guy and she loved that lucky bastard with all the shining, luminous, starry intensity of her beautiful heart and soul entire.
Rosie was an oldtime hipster with a weakness for the worst women – and I do sincerely mean the absolute, bottomofthebarrel worst, soul-dead and heartless. I knew he was secretly and from afar, mad, crazy in love with Estefanía and had ended up married to a shrew named Alfonsina and he used to try to soothe his sorrowful lot by tomcatting around some. But Braulio said Rosie was dead, had been for many years, and so was Blanca, the sweetest woman I had ever known; and the saddest news of all -- the morning star over the Yúcatan was also extinguished, that is, dear, darling, beautiful Estefanía was also dead. She and Rosie had died in a car crash and the wicked tongues said they had been lovers and were running away together.
Two days later, the old guy had married Steffie’s sister though by the time I got there, their marriage was bitter ashes.
The last time I saw them they were just kids but now Rosie’s boy Damián and Steffie’s girl Elisa were all grown-up and breaking hearts and having their hearts broken in a reciprocal fashion and not; and Gael and Paloma, were still running and dancing and nipping at their heels, their grand hearts bursting with desire and friendship and love and jealousy.

The Rectory
Damián repeated the Big Lie to Lupe, that he and Elisa couldn’t marry because they were children of the same father. Damn! No one had ever seen Lupe this angry before. His face darkened like a stormy September sky and he roared and he got right up in Damián’s face: “It’s a lie! Estefanía and Rosendo were never lovers!” Dam was doubting and was looking for Padre’s proof because Augusto, he had proof, an actual, scientifically valid test that showed unequivocally – that is to say it could not be wrong, it admitted of no doubt – that Elisa was not the old guy’s daughter. Well no, he did not produce the actual results, the words on the page, the certified copy; in fact it was Carmina who forced him to tell us ...
Cielo Abierto
Gabino was there waiting for Augusto and the whole time they talked, he never stopped cutting and chewing his habaneros; and through a mouthful of orange spittle and spite, really and truly disgusting, as he leaned way too close into the old guy’s face, he offered to buy Augusto’s lands . He had saved up a little money working in the Pro Ce all these years ... Too bad for Gabino because that mean blue-eyed bastard was going to have to shuffle back to his hidey-hold empty-handed -- there wasn’t enough desperate in the world for Augusto to sell to this scheming con man, Alfonsina’s personal pitbull.
[I noticed a few nods of satisfaction at the not quite deserted Augusto table on the Patio and I thought I saw Carlos raise a glass.]
Hacienda Harango
Damián’s mother sat on an elaborately carved chair that screamed money, entitlement, power. Her disconcertingly large eyes were locked in a wide-open stare no matter what the rest of her face was doing and the over-all effect was terrible and frightening. Flor, a beautiful little girl, sweet but spoiled, who had come to La Ermita expecting to seal the deal with Damián, was groveling in a most pathetic fashion, begging Alfonsina to withdraw the charges against her daddy, Guido, who now languished, lonely and penniless in the jail in Mérida. Alfie’s response: “Give me a grandchild and your daddy goes free”.
Alfonsina then dismissed the drooping, wilted Flor and immediately thereafter picked up the phone to set up a meeting with someone ...
Who’s the AlfaBitch now?
Alfonsina sat back, and wow, yes, she had to admire the black heart and perversity and that’s right, let’s recognize it, utter mad genius of her opposite number, Carmina Castañon – for now we knew it was she, Elisa’s aunt, that Alfie summoned on the phone. Whooee! Carmina convinced Augusto that his daughter wasn’t his daughter! Damn! But Carmina wasn’t going to get any money out of this, if that’s what she was planning.
La Cantina
Don Lucio headed straight as an arrow to his friend Augusto’s table in the cantina where Augie was trying to quiet his conscience with a bottle of tequila, which in my experience is an effective but temporary solution; the men didn’t seem to hear the whacked-out woo woo sopranos in the background and good thing too because they were sad and scary. Augie was sorry and all – and the guy looked sorry, I will say – he didn’t want to hurt Elisa but he couldn’t let her leave with Dam, he couldn’t keep silent.
“Just do me one favor”, began Lucio ...
Outside Casa Castigo
There was Flor dogging Elisa’s steps, blaming her for every single Dam thing that had gone wrong in her life. And Elisa told her bitterly that she could have Damián [although it was strange how her little girl short pants were warring with her new world-weary attitude.] “There’s nothing between us anymore.”
But Flor went too far and she showed her thorns and said Elisa was just like her mother (de tal palo, tal astilla) and she called Elisa a cualquiera . For this nasty slander of my old friend, the princess of the Yúcatan, Estefanía, whap, Elisa slammed Flor in the chops and told her to rinse her mouth out before talking about her ma. [And while I’m not a violent person, I have to say Flor had it coming.]
[I glanced over at the Patio where a few folks were distancing themselves from the Italian table.]
Inside Casa Castigo
The aunt was pretending to be human and she was saying she was sorry Elisa was hurt but it would have been monstrous if she had married her own brother, but Elisa knew that the aunt was satisfied with herself and not a bit sorry. And if she had spoken up with the intention of holding on to her husband, well ha, Miss Orange Slush, you lost him long ago.
In el centro of La Ermita
Gael and the curandera’s pretty granddaughter, Paloma, were trying to find a comfortable position in the weird bolted-down outdoor chairs when that truly awful peyos-wearing sharp-chinned harpy by the name of Ingrid came bopping down the street and splashed a little venom their way: “I thought you were in love with Elisa” she said nastily and with the clear intention of stirring up trouble between Gael and Paloma.
Meanwhile Florencia had lost her bravado and was back at Hacienda Harango, crying all alone and sad and small and she heard in her head the doctor telling her she probably couldn’t have children and Alfonsina telling her that having a child was her ticket out of hell. Man.
Inside Casa Castigo, Dolores handed Carmina a white envelope with a note inside. A boy had brought it to the door ...
In the church, Lupe was on his knees praying for forgiveness for something he was about to do ...
I had fond memories of The Blue House from when Rosie let me crash there years ago and the old gang came down from Frisco and we were crazy and young and hopeful and hungry. But monsters lived in the house now. Sharp-chinned Ingrid swooped in and that pitiless gangster Gabino jumped on her: What did she think she was doing, going to see the aunt? Didn’t she realize how dangerous Carmina was? Even more dangerous than Alfonsina? Ingrid narrowed her eyes and jutted her witchy chin out a little further: “What did you do that gives her power over you? You might as well tell me because you know I’ll find out sooner or later.”
Don Lucio’s house
When a knock sounded at the door, Lucio reminded Augusto that he was a guest and he needed to behave himself. Then Lucio let in Doc Tovar, Edmundo to his pals and a waving red flag before that old bull, Augusto, ever since he found out the doc had done Carmina though the sad truth was more like Carmina had done the doc and done him dirty. But Edmundo had something to say and Lucio was making sure Augie listened, like it or not.
Back at the church ...
... Now, when I saw the aunt arrive, I understood what padre Lupe was steeling himself for. He was the one who sent her the note asking her to see him and now he was ready to confront her lies; she was a monster and he wasn’t going to be her accomplice anymore. “You’re a priest. You can’t break the silence of the confessional” gloated the Demoniacal Rotten Orange and she moved in close and toyed with his rosary. “I’m also a man”, I heard Lupe tell her. He was prepared to break his vows, and even if it cost him the priesthood, he was going to speak the truth about her and Rosendo. Unless -- and here he grabbed her by the back of her neck and I could see she finally got it, Lupe was serious – unless she spoke up and made it clear that Augusto was the one and true father of Elisa. “Now get out!”
[I could hear chairs scraping and voices murmuring approvingly and in the distance I saw a small crowd surreptitiously carrying CarayCaray banners and pitchers of sangría over to the Lupe table on the Patio. Others, though, were edgily clearing out of the Lupe area, fearing a great rain of anvils.]
At Lucio’s, Edmundo spilled all the funny stuff about the DNA test, how the aunt asked him to fake the results – he refused – and how she hijacked the results of the second test before anyone could see them. And Lucio reasoned and wheedled and pleaded and even invoked the memory of our beloved Estefanía, and at last he got Augusto to sign a paper authorizing the lab in Mérida to release the results of both tests to Edmundo.
[The crowd was far away but the murmur had become a roar and some were standing on the Lucio table and calling for the wave.]
In a mute, sad, private ceremony in the stables of the Hacienda, Dam Stoopid removed his amulet from around his neck. And in her room at Casa Castigo, Stoopid Elisa was tucking her amulet in a drawer.
Casa Tovar
Quique was lounging despondently in his bed and not a bit receptive to his ma’s advice to forget Flor and find a nice girl who would appreciate him – not such bad advice really but pretty much a waste of spit. Anyway, Quique explained Flor’s hour of need with her dad in jail and all and the Bumble jumped all over that -- another proof that the Eye-talians were trash and another reason to forget Flor. And by the way, where’s your sister? “Um. At a girlfriend’s house.”
Tawdry hotel scene
Quique may have meant to do a favor for his sister but that was a big fat ugly lie because Sabrina was with the opposite of a friend since Paolo lookatmeImsopretty Landucci was definitely no one’s friend. Even as the near-naked narcissist was telling Sabrina he was falling in love with her, he was checking himself out in the mirror; and it made me want to weep thinking of all the sad little girls in all the hotel rooms with all the Paolo’s in the world.
Lucio’s house
After Augusto signed the release form, Edmundo and Lucio made their arrangements to go to Mérida the next day to pick up the real, true, untampered with lab results, and furthermore they agreed that no one would talk to Elisa or Dam until they had said results in hand. Then Lucio and Augie started walking back to Casa Castañon because Lucio wanted to see Elisa.
Rectory
Dam Stoopid brushed right past Lupe because he wasn’t in the mood to talk although Lupe was and urgently and importantly so.
On the way back to Casa Castigo ...
Augie told Lucio how he turned down slimy snake Gabino’s offer to buy his lands but he was still intending to sell to pay off his debt to the AlfaBitch.
Once at the house, Lucio went off looking for Elisa and Augusto found himself alone with the aunt who had used the last few hours to come up with a way to dodge Padre Lupe’s bullets: “We have to consider the possibility of a lab error, that is to say, maybe Elisa is not Rosendo’s daughter after all.” And Augusto looked right back and couldn’t believe he heard right: “All these years you’ve been telling me Elisa wasn’t my daughter – and now you’re not sure?”
Rectory
Lupe greeted Gael with the news that he was going to take the bus to Mérida the next day -- there was someone he had to see -- and reassured Gael that yes, he was fine but the person with the problem – and maybe he could help him – was Damián. Then he sat Gael down for a serious talk.
At Casa Castigo
Elisa shot out of her room in a cloud of little girl fury and she absolutely with all her soul refused to hear any talk of possible errors in the who’s your daddy contest: “You’ve sown a seed of doubt – now that you’re not my pa, I don’t want to live here anymore.”
[And as I told my good and faithful friend Braulio later, while it’s a dam shame it had to happen just precisely like this and we all would have been better off without the SCREAMING, it was about time for her to get out of that house and away from the aunt; and away from that pasty-faced sad old shambling pile of dun-colored rags who squinted at the world through shattered lenses, this wreck of a man who used to be Augusto Castañon.]
Take a deep breath, lie back and relax in the cooling waters of the cenote.
Avances: Elisa moves out and leaves the field wide open for Flor. Dam tells his mother that if Elisa is his sister, she should give her half of what he is entitled to of the family fortune.
