La Fuerza del Destino #88 Wed 12/07/11 Maury Povich, please report to the studio and will somebody call Dr. Phil!

RECAP BY URBAN ANTHROPOLOGIST

Please provide any missing details. Gracias.

Antes

Lucia talks to the lawyer, Camilo's not cooperating, Antolin tries to talk sense, and Ivan and Camilo face off. Ivan talks to Lucia's lawyer.

Nuevo

Hospital, JJ's Room, morning: JJ is dressed and using a walker, frustrated as the doctor tries to reassure him that he will recover over the next few weeks if he works at it. Esther and the doctor come out to find Tony in reception. Tony explains the delicate situation regarding Ivan's paternity and asks about JJ's memory. The doctor talks in medical jargon about a lesion in the brain that is healing rapidly, but in general gives a positive prognosis. He advises against spilling the whole truth for a few days while JJ's brain recovers. Sounds like he knows his stuff.

Hacienda Curiel: Lucrazia is paranoid at a possible new kidnapping attempt and won't go out alone. At the news that Lucia is out with the baby and Ivan Lucrazia gets annoying again with her Harper Valley rant. Carlota tells her off as usual.

Maripaz' new den of iniquity / Camilo's office: Maripaz calls Camilo to lure him into her web. He tries to beg off but she persists until he agrees, telling her that they will have a lot to talk about.

Hacienda Curiel: Lucia and Ivan return to explain about the DNA test with regard to the divorce and custody.

Carlota: Where have you been?
Lucia: Camilo wants to take Perlita away because of the divorce so we need a DNA test to prove that Ivan is the biological father. (Hands the baby to Lucrazia)
Carlota: Ay, hija.
Ivan: In this way I can get custody of my daughter.
Lucrazia: Isn't this a little precipitous?
Carlota: We need to be prepared, Señora. Lucia and I are preparing ourselves precisely to avoid problems.
Ivan: In a few days we will have the results of the DNA test and it won't be that easy for Camilo to demand custody. Besides, he's fooling around with my sister. There is no better moment to file for divorce.
Lucrazia: Well, that doesn't mean they went to bed...
Lucia: Mama, you surprised them when they were practically naked.
Lucrazia: Well, that doesn't mean anything...
Ivan: Pardon me, Señora, but I don't think the judge will think the same as you
Lucrazia: And you two? What? You never did anything that –
Lucia: Ay, mama; por favor!
Carlota: Lucrazia, shut your mouth!

Ivan somehow manages to maintain a stiff upper lip through this craziness.

Lawyer Lavacida's (?) office: Camilo arrives for his appointment.

Casa Galvan: Carmen has the idea she no longer needs to work as a servant now that Camilo is the Ag Ass President. Arcelia reminds her that they may be poor, but they're honest people and she will have to do something. She refuses to be a servant, claiming she will do secretarial work in Camilo's office. Arcelia calls her on her B.S., and she flounces off. Another stalemate in this battle.

Camilo came clean about his dalliance with MP, but says that he will request that she deny it. The lawyer doesn't quite buy this, as he is aware that Lucrazia and Carlota saw the (circumstantial) evidence. Camilo says that there was no actual proof of any wrongdoing, but the lawyer advises him that the judge won't be that naïve. Camilo is determined to get custody of the baby. He starts talking about Ivan abandoning the pregnant Lucia (without admitting that Ivan didn't know she had been pregnant) and that he had previously abandoned the pregnant Maripaz. The lawyer says this could work in Camilo's favor, but asks him what his priority is;. Camilo replies that he wants custody of the baby because he loves her but that above all he doesn't want to lose Lucia.

Cada McGuire: Ivan is not prepared to lose either Lucia or the baby. He is sure that the DNA test will prove he is the father of Perlita and the judge will have no choice in the matter.

The anvil awaits.

Commercial Break that leads with a promo for La Que No Podia Amar.

Restaurant, outdoor table: Carlos and Judith are on a date. He tells her that her goodness shows through her beautiful eyes. He also says he loves her and that when JJ is better they will break the news to him. [This may just give him a heart attack, which would be best for both Judith and David.]

Casa McGuire: Ivan and Lucia talk over the phone about the upcoming divorce. Lucia is still worried.

MP's Web: They've obviously gotten it on, but Camilo asks her to lie about this if asked about it by the judge. She asks why and he says that he can't afford a scandal hurting his image due to his new position [Obviously he's been around Lucrazia too long.] and in the second place he doesn't want to give Ivan the satisfaction.

Hospital, Morning Saul has had his operation. He calls Esther to tell her that the prognosis is good and he'll be on his feet shortly.

Lawyer Zavaleta's office: The two lawyers talk about the case without their clients present. Zavaleta knows the entire backstory of the situation, including the fact that Ivan was unaware that Lucia was pregnant when he left Mexico the second time. Lavacida intends to paint the picture of Ivan as an irresponsible person who should not have custody of a child. Lucia has two choices: She can get the divorce but lose the baby or she can stay with Camilo. He believes she has everything to lose.

JJ's Hospital Room: Esther tells him that Ivan had to take a trip. JJ complains about Esther abandoning him to the tortures of hospitalization. She tells him off, saying she stuck around to help because he's ill, but if he wants her to go she'll go. He apologises, saying he's annoyed because he feels useless. She says she understands, but if he talks to her like that again, she will walk. He rolls his eyes with that merde-eating grin of his. The old JJ is almost back.

Judge's Chambers: Now it's on with Maury Povich off-camera.

Judge: Well, you all know that the purpose of this first meeting is to see if we can come to some agreement to avert the divorce.
Zavaleta: My client is not disposed to an agreement.
Judge: Very well. May I ask why, Señora?
Lucia: Our marriage had been good, Your Honor, but suddenly Camilo had insane fits of jealousy and my life at his side became impossible. I gave him an opportunity to change and he said he would but he couldn't control his jealousy and I don't think he ever can.
Camilo: She gave me the motive. When Ivan came back from the US my wife changed with me. She denied me physical intimacy
Judge: And you [both] don't think you can reconcile? That you can forget the errors of the past and change?
Lucia: No, I don't think so. (to Camilo) You'll never change. I can't go on with you.
Camilo: She's saying this because she's been hurt. Ivan won't stop pursuing her. But I'm sure we can still be happy again. Think about it Lucia. Give me a chance; what will it cost you?
Zavaleta: There is no agreement here and this will not end in a reconciliation. We can only pursue a divorce [forasoso?]
Judge: Under what article, licenciado?
Zavaleta: Under article number 425 of the civil code. For adultery. Señor Galvan deceived Señora Lomieli with her own sister.
Lavacida: There is no proof of this.
Lucia: Of course, there is. My mother and grandmother saw them together half naked and my grandmother will testify.
Camilo: Testify to what? What you want to see is --
Lucia: Por favor, have the guts to accept this.
Judge: I will have order! I understand that Señor Galvan is seeking custody of your daughter;.
Zavaleta: But, Your Honor, the biological father is Señor Ivan McGuire.
Judge: We'll see. We will continue when we have the results of the DNA test. In the next few days I will hear testimony about the presumed adultery, including that which implicates Señora Maripaz Lomieli. I will take these into consideration for the resolution.

All parties take leave of the judge and exit. Montage of scenes with Carlota, Lucrazia, and Maripaz and her crocodile tears. talking to the judge. We don't hear any dialogue because of the music bed. Finally, it's a few days later and we're back.

Judge: Well, gentlemen – and ma'am – I will render my judgment based on the evidence presented. In the matter of the divorce between Señora Lomieli and Señor Galvan on charges of adultery, the divorce is granted in favor of Señora Lomieli. (Lucia smiles as the suspense violins begin playing) With regard to the custody of Perla Galvan Lomieli demanded by Señor Camilo Galvan and Señor Ivan McGuire, (he looks at Ivan) the results of the DNA test requested by you to prove paternity is negative. Señor McGuire, you are not the father of this baby. (suspense music volume increases)
Ivan: This is impossible, Your Honor. I am the father of this baby girl.
Lucia: This can't be, Your Honor.
Judge: Perhaps the baby is the child of Señor Galvan?
Lucia: Camilo, you know the answer is No. That I was pregnant when we were married. Tell him. Tell him!
Judge: We can do another test to find the truth.
Camilo: Your Honor, the lady is right. I knew she was pregnant before we were married.
Ivan: I don't believe this. I don't believe this. Something's happened. I don't know. A lab error or somebody who could benefit from this result --
Judge: I recommend caution. This is very serious.
Ivan: I insist upon another test.

Commercial Break that leads with a promo for the terrorist documentary. As if the previous scene wasn't depressing enough.

Rancho Socorro: Lucia is crying, afraid of what the DNA results are going to mean. Ivan tries to calm her down, but she won't stop crying. She goes back inside and cries as she holds the baby.

Ivan: Ya, everything will be alright.
Lucia: I don't understand. I've never been with anyone else, I swear.
Ivan: Surely it's an error.
Lucia: But the judge will use this to decide custody of Perlita. That's what I'm worried about.
Ivan: We'll have to wait for new test results.
Lucia: But if it's wrong I could lose my baby!
Ivan (embracing her): Calm down, calm down.
Lucia: How can I? (She goes inside and takes the baby away from the maid, holding her) Nobody, nobody is going to separate us. Nobody. Nobody.

Lucrazia slithers in.

Lucrazia: Are you saying that Lucia has been with someone else?
Ivan: No. It was a lab mistake and that will be clarified.
Lucrazia: Because labs don't make mistakes like this, especially when the test is mandated. [something about legal procedures]

Carlota flashes back to the night Cleto found Lucia unconscious in her car and the evidence that something had happened to her.

Lucrazia: So, what happened then? The judge gave Lucia the divorce, didn't he?
Ivan: Yes, but nothing about the custody.
Carlota: Then what?
Ivan: Surely they're waiting for results of the test I demanded.
Lucrazia: Look, Ivan, I think you need to be a gentleman and put an end to this situation. Renounce your intentions toward my daughter and withdraw so Lucia can return to Camilo. Since he accepted her pregnant with another man's child what does it matter if the child is yours or someone else's?
Ivan: It's evident you are a woman without feelings. And very selfish. You have no love for you daughter Lucia. Con permiso. (exits)
Lucrazia: What did I say? At least he could have a little sympathy. [sentido] It would be better to avoid the murmurings that Maripaz isn't the only hija [cusca?] I have. They might even think I'm like this, fooling around with the workers or … I don't know only God knows.
Carlota (with a gesture of frustration): Shut up! You only say stupid things!
Lucrazia: What stupid things? It's obvious Lucia fooled around with someone else. What other proof do we need? You say things without sympathy; I don't understand anybody in this house! (Carlota exits to find Lucia).

Carlota (embracing her from behind as she sits in a chair crying): Hija.
Lucia: Abuela, I swear I never ---
Carlota: You don't have to tell me anything.
Lucia: The only men I've known are Ivan and Camilo. But with Camilo I only had relations after the wedding when I was already pregnant by Ivan.
Carlota (with a thoughtful expression Lucia can't see): What you have to do first is be calm.
Lucia: But I'm afraid that Ivan will think I've been with someone else.
Carlota: Ivan doesn't think that.
Lucia: But the results of the test –
Carlota: But the test could be wrong.
Lucia: It has to be. It has to be wrong.

Casa McGuire: Ivan and Tony talk about this. Zavaleta assures Ivan since judges are prejudiced in the mother's favor, but he suggests that Ivan marry Lucia right away to automatically share custody of the baby. Alternatively, he could wait for the test results. Ivan's not crazy about waiting another 10 days for another set of test results. Nor are we because there are only another 13 episodes left.

Ivan's temper is back and Tony denies that he thinks Lucia fooled around with anyone.

Restaurant: Camilo and his lawyer talk about this. No conclusions here.

Rancho Socorro: Lucia cries as she tells Ivan once more that she had never been with anyone other than him and Camilo. He believes her. He suggests that she simply file for sole custody for the moment and they will share custody when they're married. He hands her his cell phone so she can call Zavaleta.

Restaurant: Camilo and Antolin talk. Antolin warns him not to get mixed up with Maripaz. Camilo reminds him that he (himself) is neither a monk nor a saint. Anto advises him that if the urge hits he should find a hooker and pay her instead. Camilo asks whether Anto has done the Merry Piece and he replies “No. I'm not that foolish.”

Commercial Break that leads out with the crow's profile shot.

Casa McGuire, night: Ivan checks up on Alex, stroking his hair and kissing him.

Casa Lomieli: Carolina tells Antolin that no way would Lucia have been with a third man. They start discussing their wedding and even their future baby.

Park Bench, morning: Carlota talks to Berenice about the night she and Lucia went out clubbing. She tells her she thinks she saw Saul in the club, but she isn't quite sure. Carlota doesn't exactly tell her why she is enquiring about this.

Rancho Socorro: Antolin drives Carolina over so she can hang with Lucia. She brings a baby gift and tells her she will be getting married.

Casa McGuire: Carlota arrives and it almost feels like their earlier scenes. When she tells him how good and wise he is, Tony realizes that she's going to tell him something serious.

Rancho Socorro: Lucia and Carolina talk about their mixed feelings about their new situations. The happiness and the fear Carolina felt about her surgery and now Lucia's divorce; Carolina is now more optimistic than Lucia.

Commercial Break

Casa McGuire: Carlota and Tony talk

Tony: What do you think happened?
Carlota: I think she was drugged and raped. Lucia doesn't normally go out at night, especially to those kind of places, but her friend insisted.
Tony: Whoever brought her back to her home knows her and where she lives.
Carlota: Everyone in Alamos knows us.
Tony: I suppose you never spoke to her about this.
Carlota: No. In the beginning I couldn't believe it. I couldn't confront her with something this horrible. Now I'm hoping that the new DNA test will prove that Ivan is the father of Perlita. I don't know if I should warn her. She doesn't know anything. She is sure Ivan is the father.
Tony: We should hope for those results and then we'll see. I won't say anything to Ivan either.
Carlota: Thanks, Tony. When I talk about this I'm afraid. Never did I imagine this could happen to her. Never. I know in places like that girls can end up with stuff... drinks, pills, precisely so someone can take advantage of them.
Tony: Do you know whom she might have danced or talked with that night who could have done this?
Carlota: No. Her friend Berenice said she didn't see her with anyone. They were out only two hours.
Tony: Did they know anyone who was there?
Carlota: Berenice said that she thought she saw Saul Mondragon.

As the suspense theme begins Tony has the look of Impactada de Conocimiento.

Saul's Hospital Room: Saul is lying in his bed, happy at his progress. El Gordo comes to visit, entering without knocking. After what for them are a few pleasantries, Saul updates him.

Saul: You ran like a rat.
El Gordo: Better they said that I ran than stayed here.
Saul: Carmen would have had your head. I paid you. We had an agreement, but now I don't have to pay. Everything's fixed except my neck. Can't hide that.
El Gordo: Not so bad. You're looking well, dude.
Saul: Ayyy. With the therapy and rehab I'll walk again. Look. (flexes his left leg and ankle)
El Gordo: You're lucky. How did you manage to pay for the operation?
Saul: I didn't have to pay. My father is ill. He was in a coma. Can you believe that?
El Gordo: You don't say.
Saul: That desgraciado Camilo Galvan took advantage and became president of the ag ass. However I have the final satisfaction that I took a little while ago.
El Gordo: How did you do that?

Saul whistles through his teeth. He looks more repulsive than ever with his merde-eating grin. He is his father's son.

Casa McGuire: Tony lies about why Carlota came to see him, saying she came to see him about business matters.

Ivan: But I suppose you didn't just talk to her about business.
Tony: No. About many things.
Ivan: About Lucia?
Tony: About many things.
Ivan: But in all those things surely she said something about Lucia. What are you trying to say?
Tony: It was a conversation between Carlota and myself.
Ivan: But we should not have secrets between us.
Tony (shifts in his chair, clearly uncomfortable): Let's suppose that Lucia had a fling with someone and the baby isn't yours? Would you abandon them?
Ivan: Did Senora Carlota tell you Lucia had an affair?
Tony: We're only speculating.
Ivan: Never would Lucia have an affair with another man. She isn't that sort of woman.
Tony: You have the right of suspicion. It could have been revenge or desperation... or a misfortune. [desgracia]
Ivan: What desgracia?
Tony: An assault in the street?
Ivan: Do you think someone took advantage of her?
Tony: Ivan, I am speculating.

Cue suspense music.

Rancho Socorro: Camilo comes to see Lucia to tell her he's sorry for what's happened and that he loves Perla. When he insists that Perla will need a father she dismisses him. As he leaves Berenice arrives.

Berenice: This morning I saw your grandmother.
Lucia: You were here?
Berenice: No, she came to see me. Questions about the night we went out.
Lucia: Berenice, I told her I don't remember anything. I felt ill when I got home but I don't know how.
Berenice: You were ill from only one mug?
Lucia: I never drink much and I got sick, I don't know. Why is my grandmother asking about this?
Berenice: I don't know.
Lucia: I remember almost nothing about that night. What do you remember?
Berenice: First you were in a bad mood. I got up to dance with somebody and you disappeared. Girlfriend, did something happen?
Lucia: The DNA test results said that Perlita is not Ivan's child.
Berenice: No; that's impossible. Therefore whose? Camilo's?
Lucia: I'm sure she isn't Camilo's.
Berenice: This is very weird. Try to remember. When you left what happened?
Lucia: I don't know how I left. I was confused, upset. I went out to my car. I only remember Cleto escorting me through the door of my house...
Berenice: Drugged?
Lucia: I don't remember anything. I woke up in my bed. (pauses, in shock) Are you thinking what I'm thinking? I was raped! If I was raped, who is the father of my baby?

Avances:

Lucia confronts the truth. Maripaz trash-talks Lucia to their mother. There is an argument with Ivan followed by a possible accident.

Cuando Me Enamoro #162 Wednesday 12/7/11 Gema pulls out the rules of the game, Berta's bad day, Nata and Jero argue re Marina leaving‏

RECAP BY MARTA IVETT

Repeats:
Prissy telling Carlos she wants to be part of the solution, not the problem. (LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIAR)
Marina arrives to tell Saul she won’t accept his proposed plan but she will accept his help, she wants them to make everyone believe she is leaving with him, she has to leave town. Saul agrees to the terms. He tells her she will see that when she leaves she will feel free… She believes at least she won’t be constantly tortured watching Jero and Nata, and knowing Jero is not for her. Saul says she will finally realize her hopes with Jero were not real and she will have a different life. She says she always had the truth from Jero, that he wanted to be close because of the kids, not because he felt any love for her. She has to think of doing what is best for herself. If she is well, her kids will also be. She wants to leave right away. When can we leave? Whenever you want. Then we will leave in the weekend.

Augie walks up to Renata and Antonio while they are doing the prints with the kids.
Augie fakes having just learned Jero was freed. She is glad he knows already. She tells him Jero was there (in jail) because Augie wanted to clear his name, and hurt many people while at it. Augie fakes remorse. But his conscience is clear. People don’t forgive you for being successful. But time does put everyone in their rightful place. (Jero walks up to them as he finishes this line).. Jero happily says he is surprised, he never thought he would agree with Augie on anything, but yes, he agrees that time puts everyone in their rightful place. Jero is kissy kissy with Nata right on Augie’s face. He even invites Augie to their wedding this weekend. Augie nods faking being happy but we all can tell he is about to have an internal combustion accident. Jero rubs it in saying the whole family is very happy for them and that the church marriage was not annulled. Augie’s parting words: ‘I am so glad you will be together until death do you part… excuse me, I have things to do’. Jero throws in one last bit ‘glad to see you!’ (LOL) Once Augie leaves, Nata rats a little at Jero for being so bad. Jero says he just wanted to show Augie how happy they are together. Antonio joins the happy couple. A whole lot of kids arrive to be next in saving their fingerprints…

At LaB, Carlos is thanking Prissy for doing this favor for him (leaving LaB and will continue working ). She offers a ‘desinteresado’(no interest on her part) advice (yeah right). Prissy tries to convince Charlie to not marry Mati. She claims she is doing it for his sake. Will he withstand that Mati control his life at her leisure? Carlos says Mati was not like this before. She claims it was because Mati did not have to face women who would be close to Carlos. IT would be difficult for him to have women friends or work with women. Mati’s jealousy and insecurities will be torturing him always.

Jero congratulates Antonio on his idea for how to get Nata’s fingerprints. Antonio tells Jero he got the prints from Nata and he will continue with the idea of the campaign to register the prints of all the kids in the town. He will send Nata’s fingerprints to Isidro right away.

Carlos goes to talk to Mati… he says ‘you must be happy, she is leaving the hacienda’. Carlos defends Prissy saying she was the rational one. She stopped this absurd situation. This time you won, but I won’t let you decide who can be my female friend or female coworker. Mati keeps ratting that he never let her know Prissy was his girlfriend. Carlos says ok that’s true but I have not given you one reason to doubt my love. SO I will say it one more time. I won’t let you and your assumptions affect my job. So stop it or, as you say, we are through (‘hasta aqui llegamos’).
At church, Marina tells Padre Seve that she is leaving with Saul. He goes beserk. You can’t be serious! Yes I am and please respect my decision. Saul’s support and company is what I need. PS says how can you trust a man who betrayed you and made you suffer so? He has changed! Everyone deserves a 2nd chance and I am giving it to Saul.
M: Uncle, maybe you don’t understand because you have not lived the loneliness and despair of a couple (being in love). But Saul offers to rescue me precisely from that.
PS: We are never alone, we have God! And what a huge mistake to seek refuge in another’s arms for loneliness and despair.
M: Sorry but I am not changing my mind. I am leaving in the weekend and will never return here.

At MR office, it is lottery day for Berta. Adri and Matias are updating the list of accounts receivable (invoices to collect). Berta happily volunteers to make the calls.
Adri decides to use the moment to ask her what she did last night. Berta says she stayed at the house so Matt and Adri ask her if she did not go out (these two team up nicely with smirks on their faces). Berta takes the folder with the accounts receivable info and leaves. Adri tells Matias she is lying again!!

Antonio calls Isidro and tells him he will send him Renata’s prints tomorrow via a mail. Isidro is so happy. Antonio reassures him he will have them in 2 days.

Gina comes back to the center and tells Ines she did not have the heart to take Amparito from Connie right away. She gave her until the weekend to find Corina and return the baby to her. But she will also look for Corina’s location on her own to try to find her.

Padre Seve goes to see Saul at the hotel. They yell at each other, PS yells you have to leave Marina once and for all! Saul yells he does not want to be rude, but shows him the door after yelling he is noone to tell him what to do or interfere in Marina’s life. Marina and I will start a new life, no matter who is not happy with it (le pese a quien le pese).

Jero and Nata arrive home happy, but notice Carlos is very tense and anguished. He tells them Prissy left the hacienda. Nata asks if it was about Mati. Carlos says yeah. And that he hopes that now that Prissy left Mati will realize she has nothing to worry about. Nata feels bad so she leaves Jero and Carlos alone. Carlos wants to talk at his studio.
Mati is with Manuela who is telling her she was way tantrumy and selfish… you have to accept you overacted. You made a storm in a glass of water. Mati keeps repeating she felt mad that he did not tell her about having been with Prissy. Manuela is worried that Mati sees Prissy as a threat. Not for jealousy but because Mati feels unworthy next to Prissy. Everyone has their virtues, everyone is different. What he finds in you he should not find in her. Otherwise he would be with her and not with you. Chill out. Realize that you are so important to Carlos that he put you above his family. HE has shown you how much he loves you. But if you don’t feel sure of his love or of yourself, you better think again if you can be Carlos’ wife with ‘everything that he is’.

In private in Jero’s studio, Jero tells Carlos he is convinced Prissy came to shake him up. Carlos admits tha Prissy did shake him up, all the memories came back and he felt nostalgia for what they used to have. He admits he was wrong in thinking his relationship with Prissy was completely in the past. (Prissy has heard this whole conversation and is very happy)

At the fields, Augie catches up with Alfo, appologizes for the way he acted when she went to ask for the money he had offered, and offers her the money. She at first is proud enough to reject it but then ends up accepting the offer because she really needs the money. HE will send it to her with Anibal.

Padre Seve comes to LaB to ask Jero help in trying to convince Marina not to leave with Saul. Nata is present in the conversation and she is visibly irritated that Jero seems to agree that Marina cannot leave with him. When Padre Seve tells Nata who is Saul and how he broke Marina’s heart earlier, Nata says she believes that Marina’s decision must be respected. Jero insists that he has to respect Marina’s decision, but his children are at stake here. PS agrees with Jero, the kids will grow up with a ‘taur’ (ogre) beside them.
Padre keeps insisting to Jero to help him out. Jero is reluctant but ends up promising he will do what he can. Padre leaves. Nata is not happy obviously. Jero asks her what she thinks (good point in Jeros’ favor).
N: For starters, if it is true what you said, you have no right to demand or ask Marina anything.
J: IT is about my children.
N: And also hers!. If I was her, I too would leave.
J: Why?
N: Don’t you see it? She is ‘the other one’. It must not be easy at all for her to see you with me and she loves you. I understand that she wants to leave! Obviously!
J: I can’t give up on my children.
N: You are not understanding me. Who told you…
J: Lower the tone! You are asking me to give up on my children!
N: Don’t talk to me like that either. I am not asking you to give up on your children. What you need to realize is that life is not going to work out the way you expect.
J: I won’t let her go live with the wrong guy!
N: See?
J: Antonio came to tell me that PS was worried because that guy had already hurt Marina very much. Do you think I will allow a wretch to abuse my children? And I am surprised that you don’t believe the same. You lived that experience with Fina! (Nata freezes and gets instantly sad)
N: Look. If Marina already decided, I don’t think anyone should interfere in her decision.
Besides, I don’t think she is so dumb to let herself be tricked by this guy.
J: I think the problem is Marina is going through a vulnerable moment due to her pregnancy and the situation she is living.
N: I understand that. I understand the moment she is living and that you are worried about her and your children. But one thing is different than the other! IF she already decided to go, let her go!! (she leaves mad, toward bedroom, he stays there shaking his head)
At bedroom Nata is asking (God) why this is all affecting her, if the children are not to blame for anything.

Saul has come to Cruz de Amor to talk to Augie. Anibal tells him Augie is not home but Augie gets there right at that moment. Augie is not happy at all to see Saul there. And takes him to his study. Saul tells him things were going great but Padre Seve came to demand he leave Marina alone. If he continues interfering he can mess up our plan. (Anibal is listening outside the door and asks himself what plans these two are talking about). Augie suddenly puts his brain gears to work and says if the padre does whatever possible for his niece not to leave with you, that could be beneficial for us. Yes we want her to leave… but the question now is… under what conditions will she leave.

Carlos goes to the lab and Prissy asks immediately if things are calmer with Mati. (she opens up her button shirt more to make herself more provoking). He says he does not want to talk about that. She then asks if he wants to work. Ok.
Prissy puts on the seduction moves on Carlos as they are working. Meanwhile elsewhere Mati is thinking that Manuela is right, she has to trust Carlos and his love.
Back to lab, Prissy is opening the memory lane part of Carlos mind about their happy times as a couple. Carlos reminds her they had an agreement to not mix business and personal matters. Prissy says that never worked for us (putting her arms around him). Mati sees this and leaves mad. Carlos pulls Prissy’s arms from him and says ‘but now it HAS to work’. Prissy says yes, of course. Now more than ever. (but keeps on the seduction play)

At Cruz de Amor, Anibal goes back to the workout/sword room… Augie is behind him. Says he has figured Anibal likes this room. Anibal says he feels safe there. Augie asks and not in the rest of the hacienda?... Augie asks Anibal to go to La Bonita to give Alfo some money and he can use the visit to see Allison. Anibal questions how Augie changes his moods momentarily. When Saul came he was really irritated and now he is acting like nothing happened. Augie grabs a sword and says ‘au guarde!’ (sp?) puts on the sword moves on him and with a very irritated but low tone, tells Anibal ‘I don’t have to explain anything to you, but for this one time, I will do it! That man came to give me very good news. … (takes the sword from Anibal while keeping his right under Anibal’s jaw).. lets go to the study. I will give you the money.

Saul calls Marina to tell her about her uncle’s visit. But he gives her a different story about the tone in which they ‘talked’. Don’t worry I told him we are leaving together and that I am committing with you. I will help you out. It did not bother me, I agree that he should worry about you. But somehow we have to convince him that I changed and that I did it for you. Marina says she will convince PS and thanks him.

In LaB bedroom Jero comes in, Nata says she has a headache. Jero says he knows all this situation about Marina is affecting her. Nata says she is trying to understand.
J: I am worried about the children.
N: I know that. But she is their mother! And she has a right to her opinion.
J: You are right. I will take care of this.
N: I think that is good. What are you going to do?

At the office Berta goes to German’s office and is kissy-kissy. Just in time they hear that the secretary is walking Gema (his wife) to his office so they straighten up. Gema tells him in front of Berta’s face about their deal that she would give him money to invest in MR and he would dedicate much more time to her. She expects him to come through for her, not like last night when he came home very late. Berta makes her exit. Gema warns German that she does not want any new surprises, either he behaves or she takes his new toy away (LOL!!). He nods nervously like a kid given one last chance to behave.

Berta goes to her office telling herself that German is an imbecil, how can you be with that old hag? Even if she is millionaire, I don’t get how you can stand her! (he calls her cell) You wish I will answer… in your dreams! You stayed with your wife so now you keep her!... hope that you realize that I don’t want to talk to you, to see if you give me my place.. idiot!... (she sees in the paper that Diego and Selene will soon marry).. Darn them! I hope their marriage is a failure!

Jero goes to visit Marina… came to talk to you. (Antonio will hear this whole conversation from behind the wall... hmm... is this something a future priest should do?)
He tells her what he found out… he agrees with her uncle. Marina asks if he will forbid her from it. He says no, but don’t think my children should grow beside a man like that.
M: How easy(comodo) for you! You want to have your wife and the mother of your children in the same place!
J: No its not about that.
M: Then? You have the right to rebuild your life but I don’t?
J: You have the right to lead your life, but with a good man.
M: The man I chose to lead my life with will be my choice, not yours!
J: I think that is perfect! But choose the right man!
M: I thought the right guy was you. But I was wrong. Sorry, Jero. But you can’t control my life.
J: I don’t want to control your life.
M: Yes you want to. But you can’t have it all, Jero. You can’t have your wife and your children in the same place at the same time!
J: We had already talked about that, Marina.
M: Yes, and while I was recovering I accepted to be here. But I am well now. But your wife and the mother of your children cannot be together or near each other. So it is her or us! But never again together! (what an ultimatum!)

Previews:
Voiceover: you think you have seen the best? You are wrong!
We see Prissy kissing Carlos and Mati watching getting upset.
Fina tells Blanca that WE will kill Gina (Blanca seems a bit concerned)
Saul: I hope everything goes well. Augie says I told you I don’t like the word ‘hope’. Everything has to go well.
And Marina shows her claws! (your wife and I cannot be together, so it is her or us!)

Una Familia Con Suerte #44 Wed 12/7/11 Handbags, Brazil, MIKE, and Tea

1. The battle of the bolsas.

Vince is cracking under the strain of juggling (a) his jealous and suspicious wife, (b) his long-time lover (and secretary) Sandra (she's also jealous and suspicious) and (c) Candy. He's in trouble with all three of them.

Candy's jealous of Sandra who now has "her" pocketbook. Sandra is furious that the pocketbook was actually meant for Candy; she pulls at her blouse and demands of Vicente: "What does she have that I don't have?? I have to tolerate your wife but not a second lover. Shape up or I'll tell everybody everything!" Vince thinks he has a solution...

Pina is reviling Vince to her friend when the doorbell rings: it's the exact same model of pocketbook is delivered to Pina, with a nice note! And at the same time, another identical pocketbook is delivered to Candy. So of course all three women meet at Avon, all toting the same pocketbook. They all start maligning their favorite cinico, but Pina says "Only I, his legitimate spouse, may insult Vicente." She confronts him, he sez "I just wanted to make you all happy." "You could have at least gotten different colors."

Pina says she'll return the bag! Sandra says she will, too, but "I'll miss you so much!" she moans to it. (She'd told a friend she planned to be buried with this magnificent bag.) Candy plans to hold on to hers.

2. Monica, Freddy, Lupita and Pepe

Moni is driving very slowly when a strangely dressed guy runs into her car and falls down. Ay, no, she's killed a mime! Thankfully he isn't completely dead - he rises and offers her something invisible. She thinks he's crazy. Then he speaks! It's Pepe! He tells her to have a great day and gives her a toilet-paper flower. Chocolate hearts circle her head. Score!

Lupe continues scolding Elena about going to Brazil, but Elena is deaf to her entreaties, saying "You're jealous. I don't need you or anybody." Meanwhile, Tomas tells Pancho about Freddy and Elena, the hotel love nest, the trip to Brazil. Pancho thinks Tomas should talk to Vicente.

Lupita tells Moni about Brazil - "Please talk to Freddy and tell him not to take her." Moni says she'll try and Lupe kindly thanks her: "Now I know why my brother is in love with you."

Moni confronts Freddy in the cafeteria: "How is it possible you want to get back together with me, but you're taking Elena to Brazil?" Busted! He gives Moni a sick smile and has the whole commercial break to make up some lie. What will it be? He stalls: "How did you find out?" "Never mind. You're taking advantage of a humble girl." Of course, Pepe comes in, sees them together, and is disgusted.

3. More nepotism at Avon Mexico

Lamberto the accountant says there's a problem with one of Avon's plants. It will mess up the visit of the Japanese delegation. A mechanical engineer is needed. Pancho has the answer: "My son Pepe! He's good with machinery!"

4. Opposites attract

So how about this "MIKE" who calls just as lips are about to touch? Pancho leaves Rebe's apartment: "I'll let you get on with talking to your gringo boyfriend." Yes, as one of us surmised, it was actually Barbara on the line. Rebe admits she made up this lame lie because things were getting too "ardent" - "I was about to lose control."

Having stomped out of Rebe's place, Pancho comes home to Chela newly wakened from her nightmare in which Pancho shouted in front of his sobbing family: "I love Rebe and we're getting married and we're going to live in Miami and you'll never see me again." Pancho consoles her: "It will never happen - all of you, you're my reason to live."

Next day, Pancho is telling the accountant to cut expenses but not take anybody's work away when Rebeca enters. Abashed, she tells Pancho to forget about the boyfriend, he doesn't exist. "We can't get involved now when the company is in trouble." "OK, then, we'll throw everything else in the garbage." He commences being cool and distant, she doesn't like that either: "Are you going to be so serious and professional? Have you lost your sense of humor?"

Barbara and Chacho and Nico all have the same take on the sparks flying between Pancho and Rebe. "Presidencies come and go but love..."

Rebe envisions taking Pancho to (some light opera) and he has a soccer game on his phone and wears shorts and striped socks and yells GOLLLLL during the performance; she snobbishly concludes the relationship is an impossibility. Simultaneously, Pancho envisions Rebe snobbishly not wanting to touch his friend's hand or eat comida tipica.

There's a tea ceremony rehearsal at Rebe's that night. Their hands touch as she passes him the cup. They agree they can't stop thinking of each other and that opposites attract. This time they actually kiss and I'm sorry to report Pancho is not a good kisser - he should take lessons from his son Pepe.

La Fuerza del Destino #87 Tue 12/06/11 After Years of Bringing Her Flowers, Antolín De-Flowers Carolina

As Gloria hasn’t had the chance to check in with us yet, I thought we should put up a discussion page before the end of the day. You can tell from my title what MY favorite part of last night’s episode was. :)

Here is the quick bullet points version of what went down:
-JJ has decided that Ivan is his prodigal son and demands that he come visit him. He couldn’t care less about Saul. He tolerates Judith and David. No one wants to break it to him that Ivan is his bastard son who hates him.
-Tony and David try to convince Ivan to have some pity and kindness in his heart for JJ and play along. Tony wants him to forgive, and tells the story of how he long ago forgave his wife who had cheated on him. Ivan can’t forget how JJ abused his mother and treated him as a child.
-Camilo starts getting too big for his britches already and gets a swelled head about getting to rub elbows with important government people. He drinks too much, to Antolin’s dismay, and babbles about beating Ivan now that he’ll have more power than him.
-Camilo gives Antolin management of his ranch so that he can dedicate himself full-time to the presidency.
-MP finds a man she CAN refuse and says no to Saul’s advances. She thinks about REAL man Camilo and is more turned on to learn he’s the new Ag Assoc prez.
-Ivan, Lucia and Carly go to see Lic. Zavaleta about Lucia’s divorce. They tell him Ivan is Perlita’s dad, and about Cam’s jealousy and unreasonableness, but don’t tell him about Camilo’s infidelity. Later, Carly says she is willing to testify about the infidelity if needed. Lucrezia opposes this, because of the scandal…naturally. Lucia finally asks her mother why her happiness is less important than MP? We’ve all wondered that too Lucia.
-Camilo yells at Zavaleta, who is the best lawyer in Alamos, that he will get the best lawyer in the next largest town. He refuses to give Lucia her divorce. He threatens Ivan that he will fight for custody of Perla. The DNA test doesn’t scare him because he doesn’t think the judge would look kindly on a guy who abandoned two pregnant women to run off to the States.
-Ivan and Lucia get frisky, despite Carly and the lawyer telling them to keep their distance—meaning NO SEX. For now, they stay strong.
-Antolin and Carolina, on the other hand…Anto doesn’t want Caro sleeping alone in the house at night. Either Rosa starts staying with her at nights, or he’s moving in. Guess what she chooses. He takes her to dinner at a nice restaurant and takes her shopping. Once they get home, the flirting and kissing begin, and they go to the kitchen to make dinner #2 together, since he’s a man with “ferocious appetites.” His words, not mine. He asks which bedroom should he take—Gerry’s, Alex’s, or hers? Any but hers, she says. But later that night, she can’t sleep. Anto can’t sleep either, and he comes knocking on her door asking to just share her bed with her. They try the back to back thing, but sleep is still not what either of them was wanting. Anto makes the first move, turns towards Caro and starts caressing her waist gently. He also starts nuzzling her neck, which leads to passionate kisses. Caro goes with it. (Yeah, I re-watched the scene a few times.)
-The next morning, Caro’s already up and bringing coffee and juice to the bedroom for them. Anto starts to apologize for pushing things the night before, but Caro does not want apologies. She’s very happy, and they express their love for each other. But Caro thinks they need to get married, like now.
-Caro and Celia meet for the first time since Caro regained sight. It’s a tearful, happy meeting. Celia is beside herself with happiness that the two will get married soon and offers to help Caro with all the preparations.
-Since she has power of attorney over JJ’s accounts, Esther decides to pay for Saul’s surgery. He’s over the moon. Wish I liked him so that I could actually be happy for him.

Avances: It’s Gerry Springer, Alamos style! The DNA test results are in, and…Camilo’s not the daddy (we already knew that), BUT neither is Ivan! (Some of us already suspected that.)

Cuando Me Enamoro #161 Tuesday 12/6/11 In Which We Examine Love In Its Many Telenovela Guises, Complete With Subjective Anvil Scores*

RECAP BY ELNA JUNE

*Anvil scores are non-rigorous, non-scientifically derived, utterly subjective prognostications predicting the likelihood that a couple will be together or an individual character will be alive at the end of the CME Ultimo Capitulo.
0= “No likelihood of survival for the couple or individual” and 5= “Will absolutely make it”.

Tonight’s episode is not so much about plot as it is about atmosphere. Here we have an opportunity to slow down and examine the experiences of our characters.
Key points reprised from last night:

• Augustin and Anibal continue to cohabit, at Augie’s convenience and under Anibal’s rules;
• Fina, Blanca and Roberta watch Dr. Deadmorals osculate a check
• Roberta and Germy have already made use of the love nest and Roberta wants MORE
• Jero gives Renata the ultimate proposal of marriage at night, with fireworks, wine and grape stomping fun
• Jero and Nata are getting married again, on Viernes.

Ensenada

Anibal and Alison are holding and getting to know their respective pillows. Actually each is imagining their pillow as the other, and they talk, kiss converse and remember with the almohadas. Music plays, “Alguien, que me tome como soy”. The kids are adorable. This is young love, as sweet as it gets.

Anvil Score (couple)= 4. I’ll give Anibal and Alison an 80% likelihood of being together at the end of the show. For life, not so likely.

At La Bonita Renata and Jero are rolling around in bed, literally. They giggle and flirt as Renata drinks the glass of water that she sent Jero to fetch for her in yesterday’s episode. Really, she just wanted the scoop on Matilde and Carlos’ big blowup. They talk about “horrible” jealousy and “more painful” lies with their bad consequences and start down the slippery conversational slope of their own previous jealousies. Luckily, we are only treated to a quick refrito of those past destructive moments (Jero’s jealousy at Renata being sent to Augustin’s by her father and for her own protection and Renata’s jealousy when she sees Jero kiss Marina). Quickly Jero and Renata agree to cease and desist that topic of conversation and go back to loving embraces.

Anvil Score (Jero and Renata) = 5. These two are bound to be together happily ever after.

DF
In the maid’s bedroom, Coni is with Amparito. Alas, the bebe is crying.

Ines and her husband talk over Constanza’s insane (but understandable) behavior with Corina and Trojan Baby Amparo. Husband, always the lawyer, reminds Ines that she is just a volunteer at El Centro Esperanza but Constanza is now the sister-in-law of Regina, the founder and director. It is a delicate situation, he says.

Anvil Score (couple)= 5. They are a great example of mature married love in the TN.

Next morning, DF

Julieta, Adri y Matias are having breakfast and conversation regarding the proposal that she run Chema’s restaurant. Julieta has talked with her father and sister and they will visit with Chema’s dad about their decision. Julieta then drops the bomb that she saw Roberta entering an apartment in her building at night. “Ay,” says Adri rolling her eyes to heaven, “Do not do this”.

Anvil Score (couple) =5. I think Adri and Matias will be a couple at the end of the show. Renata’s best friend, her “cousin” in a relationship with her stepbrother, all good, if a little incestuous.
Anvil Score (Julieta)=4. Julieta should make it to the end.

DF and Ensenada
Meanwhile, back at Palacio Gonzolo, Roberta embraces Gonzolo and Regina and welcomes them home from their honeymoon. Roberta says everything is going great at Empresa, she’s learning, etc. Liar, liar pants on fire, Roberta. Just then Renata calls on the phone and invites them all to come to Ensenada for the upcoming Friday wedding. At La Bonita Jero is horsing around and tickling Renata like a teenager. Renata is ecstatic on the phone—this time they are getting married without deceptions, without lies and with sincerity. Jero continues to tease Renata and call out to Gonzolo over the phone, “Father-in-law. My dear father-in-law!” Another cute scene. Jero stands on the edge of the sofa and pretends to fall on Renata, who is convulsed with giggles. These actors are having a lot of fun with the end of this TN. Back in the Palace, at hearing her sister’s good news Roberta grimaces like a cat with a fish bone caught in its throat.

Anvil Score (Gonzo and Gina)=5. These two need to be around to help with the grandchildren, no? David in IN?

Anvil Score (Roberta)=1. I think Roberta is too far gone to be redeemed, even in TN land. There is a slight possibility that she might donate an organ and save her sister but…nah, I don’t think so.

Anvil Score (the wedding happening on Viernes) =0. Between Augustin, Fina, Roberta and Marina I give his wedding NO CHANCE of coming off without a hitch. Anyway, Renata and Jero are still married in the Church, so who cares?

More musical montage with Alison and Anibal flirting and kissing, running through the winter spare vines, splashing one another in a pool, sliding on a children’s slide and playing in the wine crushing vats. More young love.

Elsewhere at La Bonita, Carlos is hobbling along chasing Herminia and Matilde. He calls after Matilde not to be infantile. But she won’t talk to Carlos and triangulates through Herminia to tell “this gentleman” that she does not desire to speak with him. The subject of Prescila is broached and Carlos tells Matilde that Prescila only WORKS at La Bonita. Matilde flounces away leaving a clearly frustrated Carlos in her dust.

In her bedroom with the acid green walls, Roberta calls Auggie to tell him about the impending nuptials. Next FRIDAY. Predictably, Augustin blows a gasket. After hanging up the phone he brushes rudely past Anibal who just happens to be at the door of his study. He jumps to the conclusion that Anibal was eavesdropping. Anibal says no, and Augie tells him he has to go to town.

Anvil Score (Augustin)= 0. He is multiple murderer and he gloated about Zeke. Furthermore, I hate his taste in coats. He dies, badly.

Inside La Bonita Renata snags Matilde and pulls her aside for a cozy little chat. Renata heard the fight between she and Carlos, heard the shouts. Matilde tells Renata that Carlos lied to her about Prissbutt. “I understand perfectly,” says our empathic Renata, but you are no saint yourself, Mati. Don’t permit this situation to ruin your relationship. It’s foolish. (Go, Renata!) Renata starts in on a lecture about the perils of jealousy. She points out that…Finally she reminds Matilde of the far reaching effects of jealousy. It has had consequences for Renata. How? Asks Matilde. Renata draws a deep breath and says “Because of jealousy and because of not speaking, Jero began his relationship with Marina. And now the consequences (call them twins) are irreparable. Think about it! She warns Matilde. This may be my favorite scene in the TN.

In the next room Carlos has come back in the house after chasing Matilde. He is raving at Jero about Matilde. Matilde has given Carlos an ultimatum—it’s her or the heifer. Jero asks if Prissybutt is important to Carlos. Carlos, in what I think is a somewhat evasive answer says “Si!” and holds up his bandaged hands. He remarks that he can’t do his job without her. (Really? I doubt that MiCharlie).

Jero tells Carlos he had better figure something out and he has to do it on his own.

Anvil Score (couple)=4. I am optimistic about Mati and Carlos. If, as they say, men marry their mothers then Carlos had found someone in Matilde to equal his controlling and histrionic mother. Prissybutt hasn’t got a chance again THE HEADBAND.

Anvil Score (Prissybutt)=2.5. Likely alive but out of the picture.

DF
Gonzolo returns to Empresa and falls into the welcoming arms of Matias, Honorio and Adri. Hons says he looks great, totally healed. Gonzo says it is all because of LOVE. Love heals, blah, blah, blah. The group discusses the news about Renata and Jero. They have had their problems and setbacks, but they are having a wedding next Friday. Everyone needs to be there. Hugs all around. The smarm meter is starting to overheat as we change scenes into Regi/Gonzo’s house of the stone balls, where Ines is hugging Gina and welcoming her back from her honeymoon. Her only disappointment is that her Mother wasn’t there to enjoy this moment. (More of Fina’s dastardly deeds). Ines hates to tell Regina but there are problems with Constanza. Don’t tell me it has something to do Corina and that bebe! says a furious Regina.

Cut to Honorio calling Cons. She is all dressed up (as usual) with her pretty feet in high platform shoes stretched out on the twin bed in the guestroom, holding said bebe. Hons tells her that Renata and Jero are having (yet another) wedding in Ensenada next Friday and Gonzo want the whole family to attend. She should get her clothes and things ready to go. Coni equivocates, she is very happy for Renata but doesn’t know if she can go to the wedding. Honorio really loses it now. “Constanza are you listening to me”, he yells. Yes, she is listening but what is she supposed to do with Amparita? Hons hits the roof. You mean you are not going to Renata’s wedding because of this creature”? “I don’t know”…Coni starts again. Honorio is beside himself,” This is not your responsibility! Where is her Mother? Call that woman right away and tell her to come and get the baby!” Again, Coni hesitates… but Hons tell her that her priorities are all wrong. If she prefers to take care of the baby—who is not hers! —Over going to the wedding of her niece, it is her problem not his. He slams down the phone.

Anvil Score (couple)= 4. I think Honorio and Coni will work it out. They may have to adopt a child but…

Cut back to Gonzo/Gina manse. I cannot believe it, Gina rants to Ines and she pours her a cup of coffee. She explained everything to Coni. This is not how they do business in the Center. Ines gently reminds Gina that Coni is now her sister-in-law and this complicates things a bit Gina is going to talk to Constanza.

Another photo and music montage. This time it is sweet moments Laz and Kari’s DF honeymoon. For my money, they are the cutest couple on four feet. The city is huge they have discovered. Their four feet are sore from all the walking. They canoodle on a park bench while taking a much-needed break from sightseeing. More music. More love.

Anvil Score (couple)=5. These two have been through too much not to make it. Nesme is still out there like a black cloud on the horizon but Super Laz will prevail!

Jail
Meanwhile, a guy who looks like a really mean Mexican Jesus is giving Nesme a (well-earned) hard time. Nesme is at the jail bars looking threatening and miserable when bad-Jesus winds him up. “It’s visiting day, and no one came to see you and I. You are alone like a dog”. I take exception to Bad-Jesus’ simile comparing Dr-I-only-die-my-hair-on-top (thank you r la O) to un perro. No dog deserves such a comparison! Nesme bends his nose against the jail bar to express his despair. “Kari. You will always be mine”. Maybe not, Alvaro.

Anvil Score (Nesme)=0. Nesme has to go. There is no redemption for this dirtbag.

Ensenada

Jero and Renata sit on bench outside Padre Severino’s house waiting for Antonio. Renata is nattering, shall she dress in normal or wedding attire? Marina comes to the door and hears Renata y Jero discussing the wedding, flirting, and declaring their endless love for one another. Marina is stricken and grabs her non-existing bump as outside Renata laughs. Antonio arrives and Renata goes to help him with the children’s fingerprint project.

Anvil Score (Marina)=1. I hope I am wrong, but this weekend’s musings on the CME board convinced me that Marina may be a goner.

Anvil Score (Antonio)=2.5. Antonio could be collateral damage in another wedding shoot out. I only give him a 50/50 chance of making it to the finale.

At La Cruz Saul defends his poor performance with Marina to Augustin. Saul protests that he has only seen her three times. “This is your last opportunity”, Augie snarls to him as he hands him more money.

Anvil Score (Saul)=2. If Saul irritates Augustin he might just go the way of previous Dunant henchmen. Bye bye, Saul.

Prescila and Carlos are working. Prissybutt pretends to be concerned about Carlos and offers to talk to Matilde. Trust in me, Charlie.

Marina sees Antonio. Marina is seriously depressed. (What is new?) Antonio goes to the cafeteria to join Renata for the fingerprint project. He gets a full set of fingerprints from her as they chat with two of the cutest kids ever.

Another music and photomontage. Matilde is recalling her courtship with Carlos. He asks her to marry him with a Crackerjack ring. She encounters Prissybutt who tells her that she does not want to cause problems for MiCharlie and she will go to a hotel. Carlos later encounters Pricilla in her room packing her suitcase.

Coni’s house.

Regina meets Coni to talk about El Centro Esperanza and the situation with Amparita. “She is not your daughter”, Regina tells Connie. Corina has responsibility for her. Regina reiterates that Coni’s behavior is breaking all the rules. Regina threatens to report Amparita to DIF. (Anybody know if this is child protective services or the police? Another agency?). Later Honorio tells Gonzolo about Coni’s behavior. “My sister adores Renata. I’ll talk to her”, declares Gonzo.

Marina has gone to see Saul at this hotel. She tells him, “I do not accept your proposal but I will accept your help getting out of this place”. Ta dummm.

It appears that other recappers will get to choose Anvil Scores for Fina, Blanca, and several other characters. Good luck and happy scoring to all!
---

Vivi intruding here. DVRs and VCRs may have cut off since our show went a bit over, so I'll add the final scene that our show ended on: Augie comes upon Nata at the cafe working on the fingerprint project. She keeps her distance as they chit chat about Jero being free, and she points out that it was Augie's fault that Jero was thrown in jail in the first place, in Augie's quest to clear his name. And he didn't even really do that yet. Augie says his conscience is clear, and people just like to envy a "winner" like him. Jero walks up with the paperwork from the courthouse for the Friday wedding. He embraces and kisses Nata and then begins to wax poetic about his love for Nata, clearly in an attempt to annoy the hell out of Augie. It works. He's so happy with his mujer, that he invites Augie to their Friday wedding. Augie is NOT amused.

Avances: Jero is not happy with Marina's plans to leave. Nata is ticked at Jero and tells him to let Marina go if she wants to go!

Una Familia Con Suerte #43 Tue 12/6/11 Pancho learns why the Japanese are so skinny

We see a continuation of last night's almost-kiss, followed by a cute discussion where Pancho tells Rebe that *his* heart is *never* confused.

Tonight's episode opens with Ana (Pancho's accordion-playing daughter) greeting the band-members as they come in for rehearsal. They all seem to have crushes on her, bringing her stuff and joking around, and they actually names and lines. Danger, Will Robinson: this is a sign of an oncoming new subplot! The keyboardist, Manuel, gives her a weird-looking dulce de leche (it kinda looks like a lot of colorful toy blocks in a tupperware, but what the hell... it's the thought that counts!) and swiftly departs. The band realize that no one has ever even heard about his family, and they met him at a bus stop (I think).

Pina barges into Vins' office dressed in a black-and-grey ensemble with shiny details that makes me think of the morality police from some dystopian sci-fi flick. She has just come to inform him that the Pomeranian has peed in the house and needs psychotherapy, but notices the bag on his desk (the $3000 bag that Candi refused). What bag?, Vins asks. Cornered, he claims it was a gift for his secretary. She wonders if he'd been sleeping with the secretary, too, so he says it was on sale and it was her birthday (both lies). Pina puts the question to the secretary (is it your Birthday), but Vins is able to convey the lie to her in sign language from behind Pina's back and she plays along.

Pina and Vins bring the pooch to the psyciatrist's. They have a huge fight about sex in the waiting room, and the doc walks in as they're both saying "sex sex sex sex sex." He is astonished that they could expose such a delicate creature to such "indiscretion" and lack of recato (decency) and is quite cross with them. Vins explodes with complaints about his stressful life. Business sucks, my dog is unhappy, and my wife is paranoid! PLEEEASE doc, you gotta help me!

Fernanda is seeing doctor Octavio, who isn't pleased that she ran off to Germany. He reveals that Fer asked him to find her some private eyes for an as-yet-undisclosed matter. The safe bet is that these PIs are to find her long-lost son who will turn out to be Pancho, but we'll see.

Back at the office, we're treated to another vocal thought-bubble as Rebe goes over her conflict... I have feelings for Pancho.... But it's wrong... But he's so attractive! Meanwhile, Pancho is wiping his nose.

[I had to step out for a bit to sell something to a guy from craigslist... this is from my mom's notes]

Some more with the rich kids and the nacos. Candi likes the mix tape Alex made for Lupe. Pepe decides that he will conquer Monica before Freddy can win her back.

Dinner with Pina, Vins, and Freddy. Freddy tells them his theory on marriage, specifically that it was invented when people lived 30 years, and that's too much time to be with anybody. Vins is kind of unhappy to think of how long he'll be married to Pina and looks a little sick.

Pancho goes to Rebe's for Sushi training. She is dressed as a geisha. Eww. He's excited about wasabi, though. "Oooh, chiles!"

[I'm back]

Rebe really does look awful. Pancho amusingly struggles with the chopsticks, but has no trouble with the sake. "The poor get drunk, but the rich get happy." He flips out at the notion of eating rice ("how do they eat? That must be why they're so skinny and yellow") with chopsticks and would prefer to sit on the couch with Rebeca and inch in closer to her...

Meanwhile, Elena is still gushing at Lupe about going to Brazil with a "sabrosito" like Freddy. Lupe wonders where she'll sleep. Tomas overhears this all and they have a huge fight. Over his dead body, he says. But where was this protectiveness back when mom died, she asks. Nothing is resolved.

Chela is praying at the altar of her sister, which is kind of sweet in a boring way for a little bit, but then she picks this inopportune moment to badmouth Rebeca, and it starts to seem a little creepy.

Gossip in the mall with Candi and co., at least until the secretary shows up with the fancy bag. They have a funny fight where Candi tries to insist it's hers until she admits she refused it and thew it on the ground. That puffs the wind right out of her sails.

Vins and Pina are in bed. Vins is mumbling in his sleep, and Pina thinks he's finally telling her he loves her. At least until he blurts out "oh Candi." She tries to smother him with the pillow and a goofy red fuzzy circle flashes on her face (special effects! woo!) as her eyes roll in opposing directions and her mouth makes a perfect "o" shape. He pretends he was having a nightmare about the Lopez family. They're like Chinese torture to me, he protests.

Again, we go out an an almost-kiss (P&R). Only this time, she admits that she has feelings for him, and they *both* pucker up. At the last second, her phone rings and she answers it. Oh, she tells Pancho quite nonchalantly, that's Mike, my boyfriend in the U.S..

Cuando Me Enamoro #160 Monday 12/5/11 A Night of Tears, Joy, Anguish, Jealousy, Spite, Revenge and Laughter, but Enough About Me

Here are a few more photos for our CME family album: Here is David in IN with his incredibly handsome son returning from Iraq and as Abuelo querido with the precious nietas gemelas all wearing their new beanies by fashionista Emilia. In honor of all the wonderful scenes in Taxco, I am including a picture of me in 2008 when I attended Universidad Internacional in Cuernavaca each of four winters and made an annual day trip to Taxco, the beautiful hillside town near the famous silver mines. Hats and silver spectacular there.

German says Roberta makes him crazy and hot; she wants to make him crazy enough to buy her an apartment not just rent one. Tata has apparently cried since last Friday, what else is new. Renata and Jeronimo continue to grow closer and more unified, cuidado, cuidado. New evil plans are in the wings with Augie, Sad Saul, and the white gowned Locas. Carlos continues to be clueless. Maybe he deserved that little near poisoning? Oops, Being snow bound has not improved my mood for tolerating these fools even though we desperately needed it here in the desert. I mean the snow not the fools… But let’s roll it out.

Padre Severino swears he isn’t going to stand by while Sad Saul breaks Marina’s heart again. Marina wheels in to wipe a few more tears and some snot on the cute baby sweaters that SSaul brought her. She remembers SSaul telling her that with or without him, she should ride out of Dodge asap for her well being and that of her children. She snots some more over her unborn twins who are probably getting a great start on acid stomach. Sorry but I can’t dignify this with any more translation. Fill in your own morose whining if you must. Buckets of tears ensue.

Jeronimo with great seriousness and the Bishop read the Archbishop’s letter in simulcast scenes that the ecclesiastic union stands firm. Once he cracks a smile, Jero reveals to Renata that they are still wedded in the eyes of the church. Screams of joy ensue.

Anibal is sick of Augie’s pretentious ways and will leave but Augie for his own reasons sweet talks him into staying. But Anibal catches on that he wants him to stay only because he doesn’t want Renata to know he threw him out. Augie smiles.

The kitchen jury debates the evil turn of Augie’s to deny Alfonsina the pension of Ezequiel’s salary that he had so publically promised at the funeral. They say she should wait and try again, but she swears never to step foot on the Cruz de Desamor again and will take care of her own affairs. The maid says the bosses will lend her a hand if she tells them but Alfonsina says she isn’t the first woman to be left to raise her children alone. Manuela would like her to tell Jero but she doesn’t want to make things worse between Augustin and Jeronimo. She thanks the kitchen jury for listening to her and their support but she leaves.

Maybe our first encounter wasn’t so good but maybe we can improve things, says a charming Augie. Anibal says okay he will stay but with some conditions. Strong young man, he motions Augie to sit down and listen up. He wants to get to really know him and not be treated like a stranger. And he wants to be in his confidence and he will decide whom he will befriend or not. Augie appears amused then asks also to be in Anibal’s confidence (he needs lots of information from LB) and they decide they can make a contract to try.

Roberta writes a stolen check in front of the Demented Director and his Putrid Patients. The check is written but Roberta assures Fina that there is no us. Blanca tells her she needs them and she knows that Roberta made a lot of money on this deal too. Now the doctor kissing the check says here is your passport for trips out at night. Roberta seems surprised that she has just purchased get out of asylem free passes for the Locas. But Blanca informs her that they will be able to get at her and the others while Fina swears their outings will bring ruin and evil to all Monterrubios. Roberta’s look is deer in the headlights dumbstruck that one large check could unleash the furies from maniac hell.

Inez comes in and wants to talk to Constanza and says she knows the way to her room to the maid. Constanza faces Inez’s worry and ire with a so what attitude while Inez continues to brow beat her that she is risking great things by continuing to hide this baby in her home. The consequences could be dire for her, her family and the center but Constanza is as stupid in her defiance that it is too late not to be so involved in protecting her baby as she usually is smart in solving other people’s problems.

Honorio and Matias talk about Chemas legacy at the restaurant briefly but turn to Hon’s desire that Matias and Adriana marry soon and provide grandchildren post haste so Constanza can quit obsessing about this Trojan horsey, I mean baby, in a blanket and can pay attention to grandchildren. Adri arrives with a grin about the grandchildren request and tries to calm her father that the mother will return soon and take this Trojan baby but Honorio is sure that Con will be heart broken.

Meanwhile Inez is realizing she is wasting her time trying to convince Constanza of the danger of her imprudent actions. Const says I have been reborn with this infant and she in me. Inez swears that when she returns from her honeymoon, Regina won’t be so happy and Cons will have to make a big decsion this is not the ethical way the center should be run in helping mothers in this too personal way. Consta ignores her slamming out the door and coos at the baby.

The happy honeymooners discuss at another romantic Taxco dinner that Regina would like to stay on the honeymoon forever but she misses her daughters Roberta and Renata so much. Gonzo grins that she is so enamored of Renata and feels like she is her real daughter. She thinks she is learning to get along with Roberta but she is worried that Roberta can’t be entirely trusted yet since she was under the vile influence of Fina for so many years and may still be in contact with her. Her understanding doesn’t go as far as questioning why this is not the case with the angelic Renata. Gonzo wisely wants to take the conversation back to talking only of themselves.

Renata calls PadreWannaBe Antonio to tell him that not only is Jero free, but the letter has come down from the church that they are still married. He is elated. Renata explains that she is involved with Jero’s return but will come see him soon to launch the campaign of recording the children’s fingerprints. Antonio is happy to hear this. Tata pathetically pats down the snot soaked sweaters on the Uncle Severino’s silky sofa while she sniffs and listens to what must be happy news coming out of the phone from Renata. She walks so well on those high heels clutching the bitty sweaters in hand while she stiletto stomps out of the room. Antonio apologizes for telling too much of the Jero and Renata happiness and being too open in front of Marina. But, Padre Severino shrugs that he is not the one who did anything imprudent. He acknowledges that there is not much they can do with Tata’s tempestuous tears.

Back in Augie’s office, Saul brags that things couldn’t be going better. Even though things seem slow with his reconquest of Marina, he is urging her to leave town and now her health has improved so she can move. Augie seems pleased until Saul adds, It helped a lot that they saw Renata and Jero kissing. Where were they kissing, snaps Augie. Saul relates, in Ensenata, he came out of the police station and embraced Renata as she arrived. Augie is jut-jawed but continues with his plan to make sure that Marina is out of the way and soon Jeronimo will be way, way out of his way and Renata will….well, you know.

Renata spreads out her lovely white dress that Jero left for her with a note on the bed. Jero comes in dressed in elegant white. OMG what magic he performs in an all white suit. He teases her into hurrying into her party frock so they can celebrate. Much laughter and flirting that can’t keep going well, now you know that is a TN fact of life.

Alison tells Anibal that she gets butterflies in the stomach when she sees him. Anibal tells her he gets them too. He feels things he has never felt about anyone else, and for this he has decided to stay so he can be close to her. Alison is glad and they kiss sweetly to seal the deal. They want to see each other every day. He wants to come pick her up tomorrow morning to spend time. She says it has to be very early since she will have to babysit Luz. Looks like they decide a daily meeting is great.

Julieta comes out of her apartment (or is it Chema’s old one) and sees the back of Roberta keying herself into the apartment across the hall. What is she doing here?

Jeronimo leads Renata with his hand as a blindfold to a romantic outdoor dinner table with the vines in the background torches lit and wine breathing. It is so beautiful I am almost not breathing. After he assures her that she is the only woman he is going to love for the rest of his life, they leap in their impeccable white clothes and clean feet (we hope) into a vat of grapes and swing on ropes while they kiss, stomp and make winemaking look like the sexiest occupation in the Baja. He says he has one question and gets her to look at fire works preplanned and spectacular spelling out “Renata do you want to marry me again?” A civil ceremony will follow soon as all they need again, right? She cries a few tears of joy and they dissolve into laughing screaming bedroom play that is so believably passionate.

As you wished, we see Laz and Kari attemping their first escalator in the airport. They laugh about being a pair of country simples having survived their first airplane voyage. But they are laughing and enjoying their very big adventure in D.F.

Our favorite country lass is kvetching in the kitchen with Manuela and maid (sorry this woman has no name for me, she is mostly annoying. The maid tells that Prissypants cornered her in the dining room and told her that she and Carlos were much more than school friends in Spain. She tells her that they were very much in love and they were meant to marry each other. They were considered the perfect couple there. But why did you part, asks the enchanted maid. Oh, I finished and left Spain and Carlos stayed on another year and then time went by but here I am now. Matilde hears this report, then stomps out and into Carlos room to ask the important question, Why didn’t you tell me that you and Priss were novios? If you didn’t you must be hiding something and he says, but NO in his irritatingly innocent way . (And I hardly ever get annoyed by our sweet Carlos). But she escalates her anger that they were apparently the PERFECT couple in Spain so he must not want to be engaged to her now that PPants is back. She slams the engagement ring in his bandage wrapped palm and charges out of his bedroom saying she is through. Carlos is surprised! Time for someone to teach the other facts of life to this buffoon before he gets broken bones or sets himself on fire.

Obviously from their bed, Renata and Jero can hear the fight and Jero explains that he warned Carlos he better tell Matilde about the former romance with PPants. They listen a minute for more noise then Renata wants Jero to go out and explain the facts to Carlos. Jero wants to stay in bed but Renata says pretend to be going out to the kitchen for water. They decide he will go on the pretext of having drunk so much wine. First they giggle to prove they indeed have had quite a lot of wine.

Matilde continues to accuse Carlos of misrepresenting and hiding his relationship and probably his feelings for Prissypants. She stomps off saying she doesn’t need to be annoyed by him furthe. PPants in her flannel jammiepants listens with enjoyment then rushes in to console Carlos saying coyly, oh what was the yelling about, is there some problem????. Carlos says, Matilde is upset finding out they used to be novios, but who could have told her? No one knew except Jeronimo and he wouldn’t say anything. PPants swears that she would never have said anything. She sits really close and drips honeyed words of consolation.

Matilde is furious in the kitchen saying nothing can be resolved and the engagement is off until Ppants goes away.

Lazaro and Kari have fun in a cab. Ah the simple pleasures of this great adventure.

In the apartment Roberta is already pouting that German is dressing and going home. She can’t believe that he keeps up a farce with his wife if he doesn’t love her. She says but stay while she tries to peel his jacket off again, but she is already so bothered that he has to go and he says but I have to go to my house and we have to keep this secret. She calls him a stupid coward then remarks that it is the wife’s fault that he is a womanizer, as he leaves her alone in the cold apartment.

Jero comes out to tell Carlos he was foolish not to tell Matilde the truth about Priscila before she arrived and he says but I tried and tried but she wouldn’t listen. Jero says you had an obligation to be sure she heard it. He also advises that Matilde will believe that he still has feelings for Ppants and further, Ppants is too beautiful and must go. This is all confusing news to our profoundly clueless Carlos.

Alison and Anibal hug pillows in duet and triptich scenes they play kissyface in the vineyard. Ahh, romance. Ahh, young love.

Jero comes back to the bedroom to answer Renata’s questions about what happened. Matilde is jealous because she did not know of the romance. And Regina makes the true observation that hiding the truth is the same as lying. She uses the example of how jealous Jero was when he saw that Renata was the mysterious woman at Cruz when her father sent her there to hide her. Then he remembers making himself miserable and green. His retort is bringing up when you saw me with Marina at Padre’s birthday party you went crazy jealous. They compare horrible jealous memories until the two scenes dissolve into current kisses. Jero is grateful that they have surpassed this stage and have moved on. So Renata, cocking her head suddenly says, well if we can hear them then they surely can hear us right. He immediately calls the old call to performing musicians, Otra, Otra, Otra.

Next: Gonzo and Regina learn that Jero and Renata will remarry on Thursday with joy while Augie hears this news from sister rat Roberta with rage and jutting jaw, he swears that this marriage will NEVER take place.

And It’s over to you Elna June. Hope it’s as fun as this episode was and I hope that no one dies!

La Fuerza del Destino #86 Mon 12/05/11 Caro Was Blind, But Now She Sees; Cam is Still Lost; and MP is Still a Wretch

Carolina, Lucia and Tony leave the hospital in D.F. via the parking garage. Caro is so happy that now she can see that she can’t stop hugging Tony and Lucia and crying. She can’t wait to see the faces of all the people she loves. Tony gives her the good news about Antolín being sprung from jail. It’s the happiest day of her life!

Back in Alamos, Camilo and Anto arrive home to Casa Galvan. Camilo has loaned Anto one of his 2 sizes too small shirts and Anto makes fun of the snug fit. Hugs all around from Carmen and Celia, who says she never gave up hope. Lechita, who has obviously been left out of the “Tio Anto is in the hoosegow” discussions, wants to know where he’s been. “En el infierno!” He’ll tell her what it was like later. Anto asks about Caro and asks Cam to call Ivan to get an update. Camilo McBitterson angrily hands over his phone and tells Anto to call Ivan himself.

Anto thanks Ivan for all he and Tony have done to free him and done for Caro. Ivan tells him about the success of the operation. Anto is happily impactado. He kisses and hugs Celia, happy that Caro can see and that she’s coming back to Alamos that very day. Lechita still wants her explanation about what hell was like. LOL!

Ivan visits Carlota at the ranch. They chit chat about the good news about Anto and Caro. But what Ivan’s come to talk about is Lucia. He’s worried because the last few times he’s seen/spoken to her, she’s seemed distant and preoccupied. Carly guesses correctly that Lucia must have overheard the discussion between her and Lucrezia the other day. Ivan doesn’t get what the problem is with Lucia divorcing, or with him marrying his ex-sister-in-law. He also thinks that Camilo and Maripaz getting it on is their business. There are far worse crimes committed within families, like murder (he obviously doesn’t know that MP has that on her spiritual rap sheet too). Anyway, it’s not like HE came from a “normal” family situation. Does this mean he and Lucia will NEVER be able to marry? Carly suggests patience and giving Lucia time, but Ivan just wants his family to all be together already. He now wants a normal family. Carly blames herself for starting this whole mess. (Amen Carly.)

The Galvan clan goes to Don Silvestre’s grave to lay flowers, give thanks, and pay homage. Anto promises to live his life right from now on, in honor of his father. He notices something is up with mopey Camilo and asks Celia about it.

David and Ivan have a chat about the Ag Association. The members are getting antsy for a new president since JJ is out of commission. They want Camilo. Ivan has no problem with this, despite the Lucia situation.

Celia gives Anto an update on the Camilo-Lucia-Ivan situation. Anto is sympathetic, but doesn’t think Cam should or can fight against the fact that Lucia and Ivan love each other and have a child together.

Ivan calls Anto to tell him that Caro will arrive in an hour! Anto rushes off to his apartment to change, but first takes a moment to freak out to Celia that perhaps Caro won’t like what she sees. (Has he looked in a mirror?) Celia tells him he’s got NOTHING to worry about. In any case, Caro loves him and has always seen him with the eyes of her heart. She says a prayer of thanks to the Virgin.

Cutberto and the other ranchers try to convince Camilo to take the presidency over tequilas, beers and snacks. Cam plays coy. “Shouldn’t they advise JJ?” But it doesn’t take much to convince him. They toast to it.

In the hospital, Judith is worried about whether JJ will be able to recuperate his motor skills. Carlos hugs her in support. Lucrezia walks in on this scene and gives Judith a huge sh!t eating grin. Judith introduces Carlos Orozco to her as her novio. Lucrezia heads in the see JJ.

At Casa McGuire, Caro, Lucia and Tony are home. Caro says Ivan is just as handsome as she imagined. He blushes and Lucia jokingly tells Caro to watch it. Caro then hears the excited shouts of Alex who comes bounding into the room like a puppy. He rushes into Caro’s arms for a big hug. She takes his face in her hands and calls him precioso. Alex is just excited to show her all the stuff in his room.

Caro looks around and asks about Anto. For a second she thinks they’ve lied to her and he hasn’t been released. But, he’s just the final surprise. A voice just out of sight says, “How could you think I would let you down, Princess?” Anto comes into view from just behind Ivan. Carolina walks to him slowly, not taking her eyes off his face. When she reaches him, she closes her eyes and begins to feel his face, “seeing” his face as she used to. “You’re exactly as I imagined!” They hug, cry and kiss. “We did it!” (Lo logramos!) “Si, lo logramos y te adoro.” Everyone happily looks on.

JJ is acting like a big baby in the hospital, as Esther tries to feed him Jello. He tells visiting Lucrezia that he doesn’t want to live this way. (Where is that plug all the Mondragon kids were looking for the other day?). Lucrezia tries to cheer him up. “You’re young. (Hah!!) Strong. You have a lot to look forward to, like your ranch, and your wife who came back to care for you.” JJ scoffs. (I’m sure Lucrezia secretly says a prayer of thanks for dodging that bullet.)

Anto tells the McGuire crew that he’s eager to get back to work so that he’ll be able to marry and provide for Caro. He hopes JJ hasn’t fired him when he was in the pen. They all give him the JJ update. In any case, with the house and money Gerry left Caro, they can start their life together right away. Anto doesn’t want to live off his wife, he says, but Caro doesn’t care. If he wants, they can sell the house and start anew with the money from the sale. Anto just doesn’t want to be thought of as a kept man (mantenido). Ivan points out that he lives in his dad’s house and that doesn’t make him a mantenido. Lucia thinks it’s an outdated concept, and doesn’t make any common sense since his mujer already has a house.

Lucia excuses herself to go home and see Perlita. She tries to get out of Ivan taking her, but he insists. Caro picks up on the fact that all is not well in Paradise. “They’ve got problems.” Tony says. Caro thinks it’s time for Ivan and Lucia to forget about everything else and just enjoy their love. Just like Anto needs to forget this issue with the house. This whole time Caro and Anto can’t stop touching each other and she can’t seem to stop stroking his handsome face.

Lucrezia gossips to Carly about JJ. What a humiliation for someone like him. Carly feels bad for Esther having to come back and care for JJ. She hopes JJ has changed and has learned to appreciate Esther. Carly chuckles that Lucrezia was saved just in the nick of time. Lucrezia tries to play it off like she never intended to accept his proposal.

Lucia and Ivan enter her room and find Gloria asleep next to Perlita’s crib. After she leaves, Ivan coos over Perlita . He thinks she looks like Alex. Lucia says she doesn’t (well only in cuteness factor), but concedes there might be some resemblance since they are half siblings (yet another time she’s admitted Ivan is the father without coming out and saying it). Ivan asks Lucia what’s the first thing she’s going to do now that she’s a Licenciada. Lucia’s thinks he means professionally; he’s thinking divorce.

Carly tells Lucrezia about the Ag Association meeting and the proposal to elect Camilo president. Lucrezia starts singing her “Don Nadie” tune. Plus, he slept with MP! (OK. Now this is an issue for her?) Carly doesn’t see what that has to do with being the Ag Assoc president. Lucrezia calls him immoral! Carly’s like, say what!? And you think JJ has morals?! Lucrezia can’t answer that one. She tries to convince Carly not to vote for Cam.

Ivan tells Lucia that Carly is sure she overheard the conversation between her and Lucrezia and that’s why she’s being so hesitant now. Ivan doesn’t think there’s any reason for her to feel ashamed. Sh!t happens in every family. Lucia doesn’t think there are many more situations more shameful (vergonzosa) than hers. She does intend to get a divorce, but she doesn’t intend to immediately marry him. Ivan is on board with the “time” thing. He just wants Lucia’s assurance that they’ll work together to confront issues. He’s also fine with keeping a respectable distance in public, but when they’re alone together, he doesn’t see why they can’t act like what they are—two people in love. He gives her cheek a bunch of kisses, then a few quick kisses on the lips. He wants them to work shoulder to shoulder (hombro a hombro). They’ve already confronted so many obstacles, and they can’t let themselves be defeated now! Lucia gets with the program after this pep talk and starts kissing Ivan for realz.

At Casa Galvan, Anto starts waxing poetic about Caro’s eyes being like stars. Celia and Carmen tease him and call him corny (cursi). It’s joy all around the Galvan dinner table, until Camilo walks in. He wants to know why everyone is so happy, but does join in the teasing by saying Anto must have scared Caro off with his ugly mug. Anto teases back that Camilo isn’t the only galan in their family. He intends to marry Caro right away. They’ll live in Gerry’s house. Carmen thinks that’s a great stroke of luck. Mr. McBitterson doesn’t think it’s lucky to live like a moocher (arrimado). Anto throws it right back at him that he lived arrimado in Casa Curiel. Celia makes them knock it off before things get really heated and Camilo stalks off. Anto asks why Cam is so bitter these days. If he’s having woman troubles, why take it out on him? Cam needs to suck it up (aguantar) if he can’t make Lucia fall in love with him.

Camilo shows up at MP’s hotel door, AGAIN. He starts to complain about how happy everyone is. She’s shocked to find out Caro can now see, and more shocked and angry to find out Caro inherited her father’s house, while she is FORCED to live in a hotel!

The next morning, MP is still bitching and moaning about it, and has taken her complaint to Carly and Lucrezia. As his daughter, she has a right! She’s going to contest the will! She can’t believe her dad left the house to that worm (lombriz)! That woman is a nobody. Lucrezia brings up…THE SCANDAL. Then she somehow turns the blame on Carly for cutting MP out of HER will. Well, this is news to MP and it just gets her more riled up. She’s more determined now to fight Caro for Gerry’s inheritance. Carly tries to strike a deal with MP (doesn’t she ever learn?). She’ll change her will back, IF MP drops this idea of contesting Gerry’s will. This does not appease MP. By the time Carly finally gets around to kicking the bucket, MP will be an old woman! She has expenses right now!

Lucrezia advises her to find a small apartment to rent. Ah, hell no! Not when there’s a whole house that she could have to remodel and redecorate. Lucrezia points out that the house would also belong to Lucia anyways. MP is not deterred. She goes off to make a deal with Lucia.

Totally oblivious that MP is trying to kick her out of her house, Caro is looking at all of the objects in the house with new eyes, and relishing all the memories they bring. She thanks Rosa for all she has done for her over the years. Rosa wants to know if Caro and Anto will get married now. Of course, Anto will marry his Princess! First he needs to make sure he has a job, because no woman is going to maintain him. Caro calls him prideful (orgulloso), but she’s smiling and they can’t keep their hands off each other.

Lucia refuses to go along with MP’s plan. It’s not fair (justo). She tells MP to get a J-O-B if she needs more money for a place to live. MP thinks those are big words coming from someone who has a millionaire boyfriend. (You would think Lucia would point out that said millionaire is MP’s ex husband who’s paying a nice lump sum to her every month for alimony.) “Speaking of the King of Rome.” Ivan walks up on this scene. MP starts whining that her alimony isn’t enough. Ivan reminds her it’s what the judged ordered, plus he’s the one taking care of Alex. Even more reason to take the house from Caro. She flounces off. Ivan doesn’t think MP will be able to win. It takes years and resources to contest a will, and he knows MP doesn’t have the money.

Caro is packing up her Braille books (including Romeo and Juliet) to donate to a center for the blind. She’s pretty sure she’ll be able to quickly relearn how to read, as she was an avid reader as a child. Anto says he’s always known she was super smart, while he is a dummy (burro). Caro doesn’t believe this for one second. He finished high school. He could take an accounting course or something. As for the house, he does like it better than his apartment. Plus, there are two extra bedrooms for their kids. Caro teases that he’s in a hurry (apurrar), but Anto loves kids and wants to get a move on.

MP comes in to ruin this sweet scene. Anto wants to know what the hell she wants. MP makes her contesting the will threat. Seems she’s forgotten that Anto has plenty of dirt on her, but he hasn’t. He comes right out and tells her that if she tries to contest the will, he will have her thrown in prison for killing that woman. He still has a photo. Stupid MP thinks he destroyed the phone with the photo. He kicks her out on her skinny butt. Caro is impactada. “Antolin, you never told me about this.” Anto tells her there are MANY things about his life he has never told her, but he doesn’t want her to worry about it. “Let’s leave it in the past.” Caro only wants to know one thing—has he ever killed anyone? He begs her not to ask him. He made a promise on his father’s tomb. He’s going to stop being a lost soul, for his father and for her. They embrace.

Ivan and Lucia discuss the lawyer that will help Lucia in her divorce. The lawyer will try to keep everything on the down-low as much as possible. Lucia is worried that Cam will try to get custody of Perlita. Ivan says they will just say Perlita is his, and if the judge wants proof, they’ll just get a DNA test. Lucia worries about her mother and the scandal. Ivan wants her to be strong. He reminds her of how strong she was to achieve her dream of getting her degree. She wonders if he thinks they can really live in peace. It’s up to her, he says. She tells him she loves him.

Ivan picks Alex up from school. Alex wants to go see Lucia and Perlita, but Ivan says he was just with them. Alex brags about being the best in his class and Ivan tells him not to be so conceited. Later at home, Ivan speaks with Tony and wonders if Alex isn’t becoming a bit too spoiled. Speaking of spoiled brats, Ivan gets all pissy when Tony asks if he’s gone to visit his bio-daddy in the hospital yet. Tony tells him not to be so rancorous. If he forgave Gerry, why can’t he forgive JJ? Are you going to wait till he’s dead to forgive him?!

At the Ag Assoc, Camilo is acting coy again about accepting the presidency with JJ being sick and all. Anto is all for Cam becoming the new president, and also wants to know if he still has a job. Camilo doesn’t see why not since he was declared innocent, but he’ll check. Lucrezia and Carly arrive. Somehow Lucrezia thinks that threatening to never speak to Carly again if she votes for Camilo is a bad thing. The meeting is called to order.

Ivan calls Lucia, who is holding cute as a pink button Perlita, to remind her of her 12pm appointment with the divorce lawyer Zavaleta. She wants to postpone since mom, grandma and Gloria are gone and no one can help with Perlita. Ivan is cool with postponing, but wants to go with her when she reschedules. Lucia refuses. It’s a personal matter. Ivan points out that he’s involved in this personally too, or is she ashamed to be seen with him? No, but she doesn’t want to be seen with him publicly until she’s good and divorced from Camilo. Ivan agrees.

The Ag Assoc meeting heats up. Lucrezia and a few of the other ranchers want to wait for JJ to get better. Cutberto points out that JJ’s in bad shape and they can’t have a president that’s out of commission. In any case, the last time they met with him they were ready to throw him out.

Ivan finds Judith at the hospital and gets the update on JJ. He urges her to be optimistic. JJ’s mood swings from angry tantrums to tears, she says. She’ll check with the doctor to see if Ivan can see him.

Cutberto lays it out for the ranchers. Either they vote for a new president now, or they wait months for JJ to get better. Lucrezia and a few other ranchers are the only ones who vote to wait for JJ. Most vote to elect a new president. Cutberto throws out Camilo’s name and plays up all of his good points. Almost everyone is in agreement. Camilo makes his acceptance speech. He’s young, but he’s got education and experience. But above all, he’s a man of honor. He didn’t come from a rich family, but he’s a man of the land, like many of them. He brags about his hard work. He promises not to fail them! “Camilo, Camilo, Camilo!!”

Esther lets Ivan into JJ’s room. She thanks him for all he’s done for David and Judith. He says they’re good peeps and deserve it. He’s sure she’s responsible for them being good, responsible people. JJ wakes up and asks who Ivan is. When he says his name, JJ immediately recognizes that he’s his son. “Why didn’t you come to see me before like the others?” He then can’t remember the names of the other kids or how many of them there are. He wants to know why Saul hasn’t come to see him. Ivan tries to be kind and says that Saul is traveling. JJ’s personality hasn’t changed that much and he calls Saul irresponsible for traveling while his father is ill. He tells Ivan to sit near him and asks him what’s up. When Ivan answers him in the formal Usted form, JJ wants to know why. “I’ve always done so.” JJ thinks that’s good. That’s how to respect elders! He asks about how the ranch is going. Ivan plays along and says things are going well, even when JJ starts going on about how the ranch is the “patrimonio” of the Mondragon family. He can tell Ivan is a Mondragon through and through (de pies a cabeza) and is very smart/clever. “And THAT you inherited from me. I’m very proud of you son. Very proud of you.” Ivan tries really hard not to puke.

Avances: Lucia’s lawyer informs Camilo that Lucia’s divorcing him. He’s not happy about it, to say the least. He says he’ll get the best lawyer in Alamos! They won’t get rid of him so easily! Oh, but Lucia and Ivan have a card up their sleeve. Carly’s going to testify to catching MP and Camilo in the act.

Una Familia Con Suerte #42 Mon 12/5/11 Unruly Pilgrims at the Cathedral of Merengue

Candi is strolling home through the park at night, and the tinkling synth-xylophone immediately tells us she's being followed by a bumbling perp. Turns out it's Vins in a huge zoot-suit style hat and jacket, and sunglasses, trotting in a most amusing fashion. She ducks behind some trees, waits for her tail to catch up, and pounces, pinning Vins to the ground. They have a cute moment, and Vins complains that first he couldn't be with her, then he couldn't spy on her through closed-circuit cameras, and now he can't even follow her through the park. Seriously, he asks, why couldn't he have just one tiny camera in the little bathroom in her little room? She demands to be treated like a lady.

Pancho has finally managed to convince Rebe to go out with him. They're all dressed up, meeting at the office, and he's brought a few outfits for her approval.

Candi barges into Pancho's daughter's rehearsal and whisks her away to talk about Vins. I like this daughter. She tells her band to "take a chorus, boys, I'll be back soon." The daughter makes Candi call Vins and says she needs to be tough... "tell him the shop is closing."

Back at Pina's place, the pregnant Pomeranian is way depressed. Apparently she's even on meds for depression. Vins is sneaking off to meet Candi, but Pina makes him console the dog and bring her along.

Back to the annoying teens. Monica told Pepe that it was over (on account of her dad), and now she's crying and being consoled by her friend. Her Dad walks in and tells her Freddy has arrived.

Pancho and Rebe stroll into the "center of shows and disco" for their "not-a-date." He's wearing an awful shirt with a huge collar hugely unbuttoned (which would be fitting if there were any actual disco going on here). He informs her that this is a true "cathedral of Merengue," and introduces her to his buddy Ramon, who is either the MC or a singer with the band. He dedicates a song to the two.

Now Candi and Vins have their illicit meeting. Vins pushes a button and a door swings open in their weird garage. More silly spy music as Pina shows up in the yard, dressed in a weird burlap sack of a skirt, looking for Vins, who is busily trying to make up for lost time with Candi.

At the cathedral: Chela walks in with Pancho's bald friend, and locks eyes with Rebe. Rebe: "Cristo resucitado."

Candi and Vins and the Pomeranian are still holed up in the garage, trying not to make much noise, but making tons of noise in the process. They kiss a lot. Candi: "this has to stop. We can't keep kissing like fifteen-year-olds in a garage."

Things are heating up at the cathedral. Pancho had told Chela he was going to work. This is clearly not work. Problem. Pancho watches the girls fight, makes a half-assed effort to stop them, and then Rebe storms off to the ladies' room. Chela shortly does the same, but the two don't even make it to the potty before they're at it again.

Freddy is pretending to apologize to Monica. She tells him he needs to win her back after what's happened (but the word she uses is "reconquistada," which seems to mean something else entirely).

Vins manages to get himself back into the house without getting caught, but Pina smells a rat. Specifically, she smells cheap perfume on the Pomeranian. Vins' eyes roll hilariously as he struggles to come up with an explanation, but his heart isn't in it. He says some random lady picked up the dog and kissed it while they were on the walk. Hmmm. Pina calls the maid, whose face is so green from whatever she's put on it that an already nervous Vins just about jumps out of his shoes. He asks if those are boogers on her face, and then Pina demands that she wash that tramp's smell off of the dog.

With the girls off fighting, Pancho and his friend finally start to have a fun evening. But look out, says the bald friend, here comes the bonbon! Chela follows soon behind, and yanks her date away from the table to dance. Beca and Pancho leave. Oh well, at least the music was good (by the way, we didn't actually see any real dancing).

Now we are treated to an awfully boring montage of Pepe and Monica pining for one another. Barf.

Freddy reveals his plans to a tut-tutting friend (who he calls "mister intense"): he will re-woo Monica to spite the mechanic as he gets his "wave" with Elena.

Pancho comes home, alone, only to be ambushed by a weeping Chela, who tells him the same old story. She wishes it could be like it used to be, and promises that no matter what she'll always make him ham on mondays and tuesdays. Huh?

Pina rehashes Vins' dog story with a friend as they stretch, and also reveals that Vins has bought A Bag, presumably for one of his girlfriends.

Candi is reading Vins the riot act for his inappropriate behavior, but then she sees the bag he bought her. She momentarily reconsiders, than casts the bag on the floor and stomps out.

Ahh, back to the internet cafe/sandwich shop. Still no customers. Elena is gushing about Freddy, who has apparently gotten her a passport and arranged a trip to Brasil.

Freddy's friend wants him to "leave that poor girl in peace," but it's not clear which girl he means. Tomas, who is doing his plumber job in the house (there are no girls present, so he's got a shirt on) overhears the world Elena, at the very least, and almost gets in a fight. Freddy is a jerk, and throws a pillow at him as he leaves.

The miserable accountant is making a presentation for Rebe and Pancho. Still no good news. He refuses to make the numbers happier, and Pancho says "don't start with the Titanic again."

Pancho and Rebe, yet again, go out on an almost-kiss. They were discussing the Japanese investors, she wanted him to learn how to eat sushi, he boasted about having once eaten an entire octopus, and then told her he'd eat *anything*, spikes and all, for her. They go out on that romantic note.

Manos Quietas

Hi All,
Just wanted to let you know that my husband and I went to LA from Phoenix over the weekend to see Manos Quietas with Fernando Colunga (aka TBLMOE)! The play was the whole motivation for the trip and my husband was a good sport for endulging me.
The play was at Teatro Los Pinos in South Gate and we went to the Friday night show at 9:30. We had 8th row center seats. I bought them online and they were the closest I could get at the time. I would have LOVED to be in the 1st or 2nd row. The minute Fernando Colunga came out on the stage the women started screaming so loud that you would have thought it was a Justin Beiber concert! I have to admit that I was one of them! He is simply the most beautiful man on the face of the earth. So handsome, such a presence - oooooozing with charisma and masculinity! All I could think of was there's Manuel Fuentes Guerra (Amor Real), Luis Manrique (Alborada), El Antillano (Pasion) and Franco Santoro (MEPS)!!!! Luis Manrique being my personal favorite!!!!!
The play itself was really good - lots of comedy. The other actor was Johnny Lozado of Menudo fame who is now one of the hosts of Sal y Pimienta. Lorena Rojas plays FC's wife, Aylin Mujica and Giselle Blondet are the two other actresses. I think the play was just short of 2 hours long. The "highlight" was FC being tied up and having his pants pulled down by the ladies in the play as part of their "argument" about the battle of the sexes. I thought the women in the audience screaming when his pants came down was going to blow the roof off the theater! LOL
Anyway, just wanted to report back in to the Caray Caray family about my experience. If any of you have the chance to see the play you should definitely go - it's worth it.
Melissa (former Fuego en La Sangre and Manana es Para Siempre re-capper)
