Acorralada #73 – 4/26/07 – Thursday - No More Mrs. Nice Guy!
***Before I start with Thursday's recap, I want to say a HUGE thank you to Alex, Amy, and Nina (in alphabetical order)!!!! All of them stepped up to bail me out while I was moving half-way across the country. I have missed about two and half weeks of action so forgive me if I get something wrong. I'd never have been able to follow this episode without reviewing their recaps. I owe you all! Big time!!!***
On with the show. . .
Paco has come to Fediota's hospital bedside. Caramel and Little Doormat leave to give Paco and Fediota some privacy. As soon as they leave, Fediota miraculously opens her eyes and in her most pitiful and pathetic voice utters the name, "Paco."
At Villa Vengeance, we have what looks like a bunch of easter eggs in pastel colors; both grannies, Nancy and Max. Diana, Lala, and Diego are dressed in somber navy tops. Diana is cradling Maxito. "Oh, it feels so good to have him in my arms!" Everyone thanks Max for bringing Diana back, including Doomsday Diego. Diego then hastily adds, "Now that Diana is safely home, feel free to leave." Before he leaves, he asks Diana if he can give Maxito a kiss – a tender moment ensues as the baby is handed over while sappy music plays in the background. Apparently the three-second rule applies because suddenly Dreary Diego wants to hold the baby next. It takes about three people to hand him the baby. The camera very briefly pans to Max as he says adios, then pans to the group. Lala is holding the baby. Hmmmm. This is either another scene take, or Diego never took full possession of the baby and completed an immediate hand-off to Lala. Granny M asks Diana if it's true Diana can't remember what happened. "Yes," says Diana, "I don't remember anything about the kidnapping." Diana then mentions she can't wait to see Fediota and Gaby. Everyone is impactados; probably even that adorable baby bunny that
We must now be at the 5-Star Intracoastal Resort. Camila is poured into some skimpy halter and spilling over the top. This pales in comparison to Sylvie's Battlestar Galactica get-up in black and electric blue, with a matching electric blue wig. It's hard to tell the rest of Sylvie's outfit because I am blinded by Madame Trousseau. I've not seen that much gold in one place since
Back to Fediota's hospital bedside. Fediota is wispily telling Paco she doesn't want to continue living now that she's lost both Diana and him. Paco reminds her that it's still possible Diana is alive. Fediota then asks how Paco could marry Octopus, "I just needed a little time!" Fediota whines pathetically. Paco replies that to Fediota it might have seemed like a little time, but to him it seemed interminable. Fediota then falls back to sleep. A tragic ditty plays in the background.
Kike, Gaby, and Caramel are hanging around outside Fediota's hospital room talking. Suddenly Diego and Diana appear. Gaby is speechless! Hugs for everyone! Kumbaya! Gaby wants to know what happened. "There will be plenty of time for me to tell you all about it," says Diana, "but first I need to see Fediota!"
Diana walks in on the pathetic scene between Paco and Fediota. Paco tells her what happened. When Diana finds out Paco is married to Octopus, she's furious and scolds Paco for getting on with his life after being rebuffed for years by Fediota. "Didn't you know? After a bazillion years, she finally deigned to become your wife! How could you marry that viper? Get out of here right now!" Paco tucks his tail between his legs and slinks out. The Orchestra of Doom reaches a crescendo!
Back at the Intracoastal Resort, Max is doing a shower scene and babbling "Diana, my adorable Diana." We are then treated to a flashback of the scene in which he finds her at the convent. She doesn't know who he is, but she's quick to kiss him any way. Apparently his kiss restores her memory. Back in the shower, Max is reiterating that Diana is alive. Their love theme drones on. . .
Sylvie is lying on the sofa with a piece of meat covering her eye. Camila and Sylvie are still arguing about the efficacy of the Mistress of the Lost Dutchman Mine. Sylvie asks if Camila still plans to tell Max that Diana's baby is his. "Never!!" replies Camila.
Gaby joins Diana at Fediota's bedside. They can't believe Paco married Octave. Suddenly Diana announces she's a changed woman since the kidnapping and is now going to be even more ruthless than Octave ever was! This scares Gaby. Commercial.
More threats from Diana and how she's planning to mercilessly fight "our enemies." "Even if I don't remember who kidnapped me! 'They' could be after you or Maxito next!"
Paco comes to the nurses' station to cry on Caramel's shoulder. Big mistake. She asks how he could marry "that viper." Paco tries to point out that love is blind, "Look at you and Pancho!" C—"We're not talking about me here. We're talking about you and Octopus!" Paco patiently explains he's using Caramel and Pancho as an example. He and Caramel are not the first or the last to make a mistake in love. Throughout this scene, Kike is bobbing around in the background and making it hard for me to focus on the serious discussion between Paco and Caramel. I’m more interested in what he's doing. After Paco leaves, Diego mentions the impending divorce between Caramel and Pancho. He tells Caramel she's young, pretty, and will find another man that loves her. Caramel wants no part of the platitudes. She's not going down without a fight. She hates that other slippery vixen and is not about to give up on her Panchalon.
Camila is pouring Maxi Maxi a drink. She asks what he plans to do now that Diana is alive and well. Max says there's nothing he can do; Diana is married to Diego and she'd never leave him in his state. Camila starts in again about her and Max's future. Max tells her to lay off. His priority is finding a job and a new direction in life. Sylvie walks into the room. Max wants to know what happened to her eye. Did she have an accident or did someone hit her. Camila is standing behind Max and threatening Sylvie if she tells the truth. Camila says Sylvie walked into a door and a terrified Sylvie agrees. Max tells her to be more careful and walks out of the room. Camila reminds Sylvie not to say a word about Camila giving her the black eye.
Back at Fediota's hospital bed. Fediota starts to open her eyes. We are then treated to a blurred vision of Diana. Fediota's nostrils flare as she tries to focus. Yup, it's Diana standing there with a smile on her face. Sappy string quartet music plays in the background. "Diana, are you a dream?" D—"Nope, I’m here to care for you. How could you do it?" F—"After losing you and Paco, I couldn't live." A tearful reunion ensues with Fediota saying she loves Diana as a daughter. Diana says she thinks of Fediota as the mother she never had. The violin continues to drone in the background. F—"Although I lost Paco, it's more important that I have you! So tell me, who kidnapped you?" D—"I don't remember, but let's not talk about negative things." Lots of tears, etc. Declarations of love. Blah, blah, blah.
More filler conversation between Camila and Sylvie. Of course the conversation continues to revolve around Max and "that proletariat nurse." Max can never know Diana's baby is his son.
Paco comes home to Octave and Bruno. Octave is still wearing one of her signature Dynasty get-ups that the Wardrobe Department bought on eBay. Not sure if it's already been described in a prior recap, but the halter top is split past her navel, and is barely held together with three shoelaces. The top is covered with "diamelles." Octave wants to know why Paco looks so serious. Paco wants to know if Octave was involved with Diana's kidnapping. He has the feeling she hasn't told him everything she knows. Octave wants to know why he doubts her.
Debora comes to visit Doc Evil who's in his hospital bed. She tells him not only is Diana alive, she's returned to
Paco tells Octave he only wants her to be straight with him. Octave lays it on thick and heavy, telling him how much she loves him and he's the only one that matters to her. Whatever. They lock lips. She then asks where he was. "At the hospital," replies Pathetic Paco. O—"What were you doing there?" P—"Visiting Fediota." Octave is impactada. She asks why Fediota is hospitalized as she bites her perfectly manicured nail for emphasis. ***So who does her nails, now that she's a woman on the lam?***Paco tells her Fediota tried to kill herself, but doctors saved her in the nick of time and now that Diana is back to care for her, Fediota is going to recuperate.
Back in Fediota's room, Fediota is asking Diana to assume the role of President of the perfume company until Fediota can come back to work. Diana is incredulous, "Yo?" Fediota assures her she'll be fine. Besides Emili-Oh can take care of everything. Although he worked for Octagon, he has proven himself to be faithful and loyal to the company. Diana agrees that Emili-Oh is a good guy. It's done. Diana will add perfume empire president to her amazing resume. Poor Emili-Oh will continue doing all the work to keep the empire alive, while receiving only a mere token of recognition.
Gaby bursts into the room. She no longer carries herself like the same hesitant frump we've grown to love. She has a new "do" and looks quite stylish. At least as stylish as possible for this show. Diana says they need to let Fediota rest, and some how it is brought forward that Diana is going to run the factory tomorrow. As Diana gets ready to leave, Fediota refers to Diana as "hija." Little Doormat appears to be jealous.
Diana runs into Diego outside Fediota's room. He's surprised she's leaving Fediota's side so soon. Diana tells him she wants to go home and spend time with Maxito before she has to go to work the next day and assume the roll of president of the perfume factory. Diego asks Diana how she could possibly be qualified to act as the president. Diana—"Fediota needs me, and with Emili-Oh's help, I'll do the best I can to learn everything." Diego doesn't like the fact Diana is going to be working closely with Max's friend Emili-Oh. Emili-Oh and Diana will spend the whole day talking about Max! Diana should stay home and spend time with Diego and Maxito! Diana tells Diego to pound sand, she's going to work and that's just the way it's going to be! Diego gets huffy and points out Diana doesn't do anything he asks, but she sure listens to everyone else and does what everyone else wants! "Everyone else is more important than me!" Pobre Dismal Diego!
Doc Evil and Debora are discussing the fact that Diana is alive because Max kept looking and looking for her. Doc Evil wants to know how Max found Diana. Debora tells him the details aren't important, what's important is that Diana has more lives than a cat. Doc Evil is flipping out that they're going to get busted for kidnapping. What's worse, Doc Evil shot his chauffeur, Andres. He now has another enemy. Woe is the dysfunctional duo!
Luscious is at his new job, where he's going to be an actor for a novela. Introductions are exchanged. Larry is wearing his "I'm a star" outfit; a tan blazer, a white oxford shirt unbuttoned all the way down, and some sort of tan and gray scarf wrapped around his neck. It looks like the scarf is made out of some sort of fiber. Actually, all he needs is one of those aviator helmets worn by Charles Lindburgh and a bi-plane. While he's getting ready for his shot at stardom, who should appear but the lovely Pilar. "What are you doing here?" asks Larry. Pilar hands him an envelope. P—"I have something for you. Read it." Lunkhead opens the enclosed sheet of paper and blanches. "This can't be!" "It sure can!" exclaims Pilar giddily, "I'm preggars! And you're the dad!" Luckless Larry is impactado.
Gaby and Granny M have come to visit Fediota. Pleasantries are exchanged. Fediota is tired, but is so glad that Diana has been returned safe and sound. She then starts in with her self-centered tale of misery about losing Paco. She was so sure he was all hers. Little Doormat states she can empathize; Lunkhead now belongs to Pilar. Granny M tells them both she's heard enough sadness. They are both good women and need to be strong. They'll find good guys who will give them the love they deserve!
Bruno is arranging flowers when the doorbell rings. It's Diana. Bruno opens the door and exclaims "Tu!" Diana says it sure is. "I've come for Octopus. Tell her Diana Soriano is here!" The Orchestra of Doom goes into overdrive! Diana is wearing some sort of white satin top with short puffy capped sleeves. There are ruffles down the front of the blouse and along the edge of the sleeves. The ruffles are all edged in black lace. It's topped off with one of Fediota's black five-inch-wide belts. This doesn't look like the sort of outfit worn by a perfume empire's president, but then again I'm not the president of a perfume empire. What do I know?
Back to Luckless Lunkhead and Pilar. Larry asks Pilar if this is her idea of a joke. Pilar gloatingly assures him she's serious. Now he has to marry her! Larry says it’s a ploy to entangle him. He needs to study his lines, they'll talk about it later. He doesn't want a scandal. Their conversation is so fast, I'm sure I've missed some key points. Can any of our viewers help out? Basically, the volume of their conversation is kicked up a notch or two and Pilar starts to make a scene. The producer walks up and tells Pilar to lower her voice or take it outside. Larry is trying to quiet Pilar down, but she is working it! "How can you turn your back on your son?" Finally Lunkhead caves in and agrees to divorce Little Doormat and marry Pilar. What a spineless boob! He never once brings up wanting a paternity test. Geez! Luckily the scene ends before I can jump on a plane to
Back to Diana v. Octopus. Bruno tells Diana to leave. Diana tells Bruno to take a long walk off a short pier. Bruno gives the Vulcan death pinch to Diana. Diana gives one back to Bruno. Octave finally makes an entrance and wants to know what's going on. Diana starts yelling at Octave for stealing Paco. Diana goes on to say what a lousy mother Octave has been to her kids. Octave says, "How dare you talk to me in such a manner!" Diana replies that she now is rich thanks to Fediota and is of the same echelon as Octave. Yes, it's a sign of true class to go to your rival and tell them you're rich now and you can talk to them anyway you'd like because you're of the same social status as them. Thankfully the scene ends before I fall off my chair laughing. I wonder when Diana and Octopus are going to appear on Jerry Springer. Apparently the thought of turning our Charlie's Angels wanna-be into the police is lost on our dense diva.
Credits roll; and not a moment too soon!

Destilando Amor, Thursday April 27th
Aaron is finishing up with Ronalda McDonald…trying to plan a long weekend together. She asks, what are you going to tell that nightmare of a wife? He tells her that that’s his problem, she just needs to keep the secret since his wife would kill her if she found out. Minerva’s on the warpath and Gav saves the day by calling up to Aaron. Aaron freaks out and blames Minnie’s paranoia on being pregnant (I don’t remember that symptom). Genoveva tries to tell Minnie as she leaves, but instead gets yelled at for bothering her. Uh oh… Aaron goes down and asks Gav how she knew to let him know about his wife. She has the diplomatic answer that, when a woman comes to ask for him and says Aaron (and dresses like a slut) she figures it’s one of his special friends, but when a woman asks for Sr. Montalvo (and looks like she takes herself seriously) then she knows it’s business.
Isa is making her witchy plans to seduce her husband. Later as she’s cooking, she adds the drops to the soup. She hears the wtich’s voice reminding her to be careful with the dosage or Rodrigo could go crazy. She tells herself that that’s what she wants, for him to go crazy for love for her.
James & Rodriguito are off to buy some agave and James continues to try and flirt with Acacia (who has a very big knife and a crazy look in her eye). Meanwhile, James is trying to make some deal with the dad to live and work there.
Genoveva finally gets to tattle on Aaron and is in the midst of telling Minnie how Aaron had a visit from a tall, red-headed, sexy woman. Aaron interrupts her, yells at her and fires her. Then he tells some other old dude that he’s going to hire Gav to be his secretary. He calls Gav in and tells her the good news, but lets her know he expects her to continue her discreet manner. She tells him that his personal life is his, and as his employee, will respect that. When she leaves his office, she has some words with Genoveva (adios!) and Elvira (bring it on, bitch!).
Rodrigo leaves James at Acacia’s uncle’s ranch. Acacia tells her uncle that she can’t stand stupid James. Later, she brings him some food, and kisses him. He asks her why she plays with him like that, she doesn’t really give a straight answer, but reminds him she already told him that he needs to leave there. Later, the old man yells at her to come to bed…ewwww….
Gav goes home and brings her mom a big bottle of tequila to celebrate her new job. Her mom’s worried that she’s going to be found out. Gav tells her they are going to go look for a new, better, place to live that will match her new position.
Aaron goes home and tells Minnie why Genoveva was fired and who his new secretary is. She’s not happy.
Rodrigo & Isa are eating the spiked soup. He doesn’t like the taste at first, but SanJuana & Isa doctor it up some more so he’ll like it more. That night, Isa goes to visit him in bed, he’s tossing and turning around, imagines that Isa is Gaviota. He says, I love you Gaviota, and Isa says, I’m not Gaviota, he jumps out of bed and freaks out.
Meanwhile, Gav is having a little flashback dream to happier days, when Rodrigo tells her that his heart beats for her, awww….then he disappears and Gav wakes up. They have a little shared feelings, despite the distance, kind of moment. Gav wakes her mom up with her crying. She tells her to go date other people. Gaviota says he can’t, she loves Rodrigo with all her heart.
Hilario is getting a snack…the SOUP!!!...he takes a bite, hates it and then drops it on the floor. Meanwhile, in comes Isa and as he tries to comfort her, she jumps on him and he ends up breaking the cardinal rule of good workers that he’s been spouting all along…don’t screw the boss’ wife.
The next morning, Isa comes to tell Rodrigo that she’s decided to leave him and that he can stay on the farm and wait for Gaviota, since it’s obvious that he will never forget her. Isa gives some dumb speech about how awful it is to live with someone you love, who doesn’t love you back, and how awful it is to live with the fear that some ghost from the past will arrive and take away your loved one.
Hilario is out spraying in the garden, all the while staring up at Isa’s window with puppy dog eyes. He tells his dad that now he knows what love is.
Aaron arrives at the office and sees Gav working in the reception area still. She says she needs to wait until they find a replacement for her. Aaron, says but I need you to take care of some things right now. Gav says, well, then I suggest you put Margarita here because she’s so great and honorable and blah blah blah.
Isa’s going off to the airport and complaining about the fraudulent witch with San Juana. Ramon goes to tell Rodrigo that Hilario is taking Isa to the airport. Rodrigo practically bites his head off. On the way to the airport, Hilario declares his undying love and she tells him that it was a night of stupidity. Isa confronts the witch who tells her, you never told me he was in love with someone else…apparently this will cause all kinds of problems for him and his continued, and now magnified, yearning for Gaviota.
James is chatting peanuts with the farmer guy. Acacia serves coffee with her usual dogged look. He pines over her a little and she watches him from the window of the house.

La Fea Más Bella #262 4/26/07 Al Mal Tiempo, Buena Cara
Omar is thinking about the date he’s made Aurora. He wonders if it’s another trap; maybe he shouldn’t go. On the other hand, what if Aurora does show up? He better go, just in case. Ernesto, a reporter for Televisa comes to see him. Like the rest of Mexico, he is looking for the Mujer Misteriosa and wants Omar’s help. Omar confesses that he doesn’t know who MM is either, but he’s supposed to meet with her, so maybe Ernesto can get some good pics.
Julieta gets a call from Lety, who says she will be working late. Robopop tells mom he’s okay with it, as long as she’s working late with Aldo, but not if it’s with Fern. The cuartel stops by looking for Lety. Julieta tells them she’s still in office. They protest that, actually, Lety already left the office. Sarah, who must have won the contest to have use of her brain for the evening (you see, only one of them can be reasonable at any given time) realizes they just gave Lety up. She clarifies that Lety did leave the office, but later returned. They tell mom and pop that they have realized that MM lives near here. Robopop confirms, saying he even saw her the other night. They ask if they can take turns sleeping over so they can be the ones to discover the MM.
Aurora comes into the restaurant in a bright golden yellow dress. Omar goes over to greet her. He says "It’s you!" She coolly asks if he expected someone else. The other restaurant patrons look on and "Ooooh" in unison. He asks her why she wanted to meet at this place so far and out of the way. She says that, obviously, it’s because everyone is looking for her. Omar says he needs to know everything about her. She says he should be happy with the time she has given him. The photographer takes pics from nearby.
Aldo is at work in the restaurant. He listens to a cute "I love you and miss you" voice message from Lety. Tomas walks in crying and tells Aldo that Alicia rejected his marriage proposal. He is despondent. Aldo suggests flowers, or better yet, a serenade. Tomas thinks it’s a great idea and asks Aldo to go with him.
Omar tells Aurora about his job, which leads to his telling her about the retos (challenges) Conceptos is currently facing. He says his stupid ex-prez is about to sell all his stuff to pay the company’s debts, which he thinks is a rediculous plan. This causes Aurora to fall back in to her Lety voice, but she recovers. Omar says that for a second, she sort of reminded him of someone. Aurora tries to cover her mistake by switching to a coy-buxom-airhead-movie-star voice. She says he betrayed her; she thought he was special, but he is not because, unlike Omar, a real man takes risks. Omar, eager to please Aurora, says he’ll sell everything too if it will make her happy. She tells him to do what he thinks is right. She gets up to leave and warns him against following her. Omar tells photog guy to follow her.
Tomas shows up at the building where I guess Alicia is sleeping tonight. I can’t tell if it’s an apartment building or a hotel. In any case, he shows up with a banda-style band. There are lots of horns, a very large drum, and it sounds best when played loud. [I call it tuncha-tuncha music because of the rhythm, but I actually really like it because it’s easy to dance to, and because it reminds me of my father laughing and having a good time at a family party.] Tomas sings along to the music as best he can, which is not saying much. Alicia does not appear. The neighbors throw a bucket of water at him. Aldo sends the banda away, but Tom, wet and shivering, continues to sing a cappella. Aldo apologizes to the neighbors and drags Tom away.
Fern and Marcia are sitting on his living room floor with wine and a newspaper. Fern says he found an apartment similar to his which is selling for 8 million pesos. He thinks it’s a lot, yet too little. Marcia giggles. Fern asks if she’s okay. She says she is trying to recoup her old self. They laugh and toast to being newly poor.
Aurora unwisely walks by herself down a dark street near her house. The photog guy runs up behind her and stops her. She tries to walk away. He tells he can’t let her get away because the whole world wants to meet her. He won’t let her leave and she begins to yell for help. He holds her back as Sarah runs out of Lety’s house and grabs the photog guy. She struggles with him and yells for someone to call police. Aurora takes the opportunity sneak away. Just then Robopop & Julieta come out of their house to see what the ruckus is about.
Fern brings Marcia some tea but finds she has fallen asleep on the couch. He covers her and kisses her on the head. He walks over to the mirror. Luckily, he has taken down his Lety shrine and cleaned off the mirror, but he opens up a drawer and we see he still keeps a photo of Lety there. He takes out the photo, wishes Lety good night, and kisses her.
While the ruckus continues outside of Lety’s house, Lety is watching from the roof, worrying about what a lío (mess) this is. The lío continues. As they argue on the sidewalk, Aurora sneaks by and runs into the house. The fight breaks up and everyone goes home. Once inside, Robopop and Julieta worry about Lety. They go to her room and see she’s already there. Lety pretends to sleep and even snores for dramatic effect. Pop is satisfied and leaves, but mom stays with Lety. She knows Lety is faking it.
Tomas is having a nice bowl soup. He’s still sopping wet (geez, it was only a little bucket of water!). Aldo is keeping him company. He asks Tomas if he’s sure he wants to marry Alicia. Tomas says of course he does, he thinks of her all day and dreams of her, and the thought of her with another guy makes him crazy. Aldo snickers, which prompts Tom to ask if Aldo ever gets jealous. He asks how Aldo would feel if Lety were with his romantic rival right now. Aldo suddenly becomes very serious. He admits he would be jealous. Tom welcomes Aldo to the world of humans.
Julieta notices Lety’s eyebrows. Lety quickly pulls her glasses on to hide her brows. She tells mom it was Caro’s idea. Mom asks when that happened because Lety’s friends said she was at the office. Lety can’t get her story straight and mom demands to know what’s going on. She asks if it has something to do with Fern and/or Aldo. Lety finally admits she and Aldo are now going steady. Mom is visibly disappointed that Lety didn’t pick Fern. But she adds that she is happy for Lety. On the other hand, she sighs that Fern must be suffering so.
The next morning, Lety comes into her office and calls Fern in. She asks him what’s all this about him selling everything he owns. He wants to know how she knew about it. She says a friend told a friend who told a friend who told her. She looks down and Fern tells her that he’s noticed she always wants to run away when he tries to look her in the eyes. He says that she shouldn’t run from him because they have to work together. Lety confesses that it’s hard for her and she feels terrible about breaking his heart into itty bitty pieces when she dumped him and instead chose a handsome but controlling surfer chef who likes to come across as the nice-guy martyr. [Oh, wait; i think she stopped after "terrible".] Fern says she has nothing to worry about because he intends to respect her relationship with Aldo. But, he adds, he does not want her to be afraid of him, as that will impede their working relationship. He sits on her desk and leans across the desk toward her. He’s still leaning in when he tells her, "See, nothing bad happened." Just then Aldo walks in.
In the vortex, Sara tells her cuartel of her adventurous night with the four, no five guys who jumped an innocent woman… with a gun... and a knife!
Lety nervously explains to Aldo that she and Fern were talking about business. Fern excuses himself and goes back to his office. He pops back out to scowl at Aldo and tell him that if he doesn’t make Lety happy, he’ll have to answer to him (Fern).
Sara continues her highly embellished story. She thinks the woman she saved might be the MM, but she’s not sure because the woman ran away. They decide to double up on watch duty at Lety’s house.
Alicia comes in scratching herself all over. Watching her scratch makes everyone else itch.
Aldo tells Lety that he left many messages for her and she never called him back. She says that they had already agreed they would not see each other so she didn’t realize it would bother him. Aldo points out that, on top of that, he came in and found her in a compromising position. She tells him to trust her, and says that Fern was just telling her that he will respect her and Aldo’s relationship. Aldo apologizes and Lety teases him for being jealous. Goofy kisses ensue.
In his office, Omar talks to the photog guy about last night’s fiasco with Aurora. He failed to find out where she lives. He suggests that Omar find out her address by looking up her phone number. Omar agrees that this would be a good idea if he had Aurora’s home number, but alas, he only has her cell number. On the bright side, photog guy reports that he took lots of pictures of Aurora.
Aldo wants to take Lety to Acapulco. She brushes his suggestion aside and they start playing kissy-face again. Fern walks in and slams his door, then asks if he can come in. Aldo points out that he’s already in. He mutters under his breath to Fern that he should asphyxiate.
Humbo and Ariel walk into Lety’s office [does no one respect the closed door of the presidential office? Geez!]. They want to have a meeting to discuss Fern’s plan.
Ana Leticia comes into the vortex. Alicia greets her. Ana L notes that Alicia looks desmejoradita (deteriorated). Alicia remarks sadly that it’s not easy being poor. Tomas comes in and quickly walks by them. Ana L calls "Hola, guapo" after him. He stops for a second then keeps going. Alicia asks Ana L what happened to her taste. Ana L replies that she likes the exotic once in a while.
The meeting begins and the gang’s all there. Marcia and Omar both say they will sell their stuff in support of Fern’s plan to pay off their debt. This disgusts Ariel, but Omar explains that a MM helped him make the right decision. Bozo/Teresa says she’s sorry but she and Humbo just can’t sell their stuff. Fern says this is a sacrifice he wants to make, but he never intended for them to do the same. He adds that Aldo sold his stuff to help the company, and his noble actions are worth imitating [I am very impresses by Fern's accelerating maturity!].
Ariel says that surely Aldo must have another motive for wanting to save Conceptos. He goes on as usual about how it’s all Fern’s fault. Aldo is surprised that Fern’s family is (mostly) not supporting him. Ariel is insulted and asks Aldo if he is calling them vain. Aldo says he thought the Mendiroels were more united. Ariel takes this as another insult. Aldo points out that they can’t be described as united if Ariel refuses to support Fern. Mature Fern walks over to Aldo and shakes his hand in gratitude.
Photog guy comes into the vortex, presumably to deliver his Aurora pictures to Omar. Sara recognizes him as the attacker from last night and jumps on him. The rest of the cuartel follow suit. In the board room, the execs hear the commotion and come out to investigate. Photog guy explains who he is and that Omar hired him. Marcia can’t believe Omar would go to these lengths to find MM. Omar thinks there is nothing wrong with it, because MM is so great and beautiful. Fern does a "so-so" gesture with his hand to convey where he weighs in on MM’s beauty. Aldo takes advantage of having the entire office all present to remind Omar that he must publicly apologize to Lety for calling her fea. Fern agrees. Aldo and Fern both grab Omar by his collar. He blathers "Lety forgive me it won’t happen again please I beg you." No one thinks he means it so they make him repeat it. Twice! When everyone is satisfied, Lety hugs Aldo and then shakes Fern’s hand.
I just realized Ariel and Ana L did not come out into the vortex. They are still in the board room. Ariel reiterates to Ana L that he won’t support Fern. Ana L is torn between helping Fern and keeping all her stuff. Ariel warns that if she helps Fern, she may even have to give up her ‘operations’. Ana L gasps and holds her breasts protectively.
Back in Lety’s office, Lety is sitting with Aldo. Her cell phone rings. She thought bubbles that it’s not her cell that is ringing, it’s Aurora’s. It’s Omar calling. Aldo says that if she’s not going to answer it, he will.

Duelo de Pasiones, Thursday April 26 - Esta noche en "Duelo de Estúpidos"...
One of Alvaro's sooty workers informed him that they had found an unrecognizable body at the site of the fire. Alvaro (aka Don Loco) told Elias it was surely Ricardo (aka Dr Love).
Singing Aunt Rebeca cried because Maximo stood her up. Thelma said Maximo was only amusing himself with her, and Singing Aunt said Thelma was right. "All men are the same."
Later Maximo came home from Edelmira's club with Castulo, very drunk. Singing Aunt told him, "You're just like all men, out drinking with a friend while I'm waiting like an idiot!" She said she was very disillusioned, then hit him comically and left the room crying.
Orlando told Thelma that Emilio wanted him to marry Alina. Thelma surprised him by saying that was a good idea. She explained that Alina really was Alvaro's daughter, so if Orlando married her, he would inherit a great fortune.
Orlando gloated over the idea of marrying a very rich woman and living like a king. He announced, "I am going to marry Alina Montellano."
Some sooty guy -- I think the same one who brought Don Loco the news about the burned body -- went home, said to himself he was tired of being humiliated by Don Loco, and then took out THE MYSTERY BOX.
So all along it wasn't Adela or Alfonsina who had it but -- Some Guy?? Maybe his name has already been revealed, but if so, I missed it.
Anyway, Some Guy started to open the box and, lo and behold, saw a magical light and smoke inside! (So Luba wasn't kidding about it being full of demons?? Geez, OK.) Some Guy decided not to open it after all, saying, "Surely the patron has a pact with the devil!"
Alina and Emilio met by a fountain and had one of their tiresome silly conversations. Emilio (I am tempted to call him Duhmilio... OK, I will) said he was capable of killing Orlando if he didn't marry Duhlina.
Still tied up in bed, Soledad lamented that she felt bad and feverish, felt like she was dying, and her foot hurt.
Santos went back to Dr. Z and told him how nice Granillo had been to him, and said he still didn't remember who he was.
Maximo dreamed that a blood-covered Santos, surrounded by smoke, was yelling at him, "I am alive, Maximo Valtierra! I am your son!" Maximo said, "No, no!" then woke up and said to himself, "This boy is not my son." He decided he wanted to see Santos's remains with his own eyes.
The next day: Orlando told Alina he would marry her and take her and her mother away from Sierra Escondida after the wedding.
Maximo apologized to "Rebequita" (aka Singing Aunt Rebeca) for standing her up. "I beg you, Rebequita, give me another chance." She said, "Very well, Maximo, I forgive you." (It's true -- they make a great couple. Too bad Maximo is so evil.)
Alvaro told Soledad that Elias had confessed to setting the fire. Soledad protested that it wasn't Elias's fault because it was HER idea. Alvaro angrily untied her and dragged her downstairs, where Alfonsina was holding Elias at gunpoint.
Before Don Loco and Soledad arrived, Elias warned Alfonsina that sooner or later she would suffer from Alvaro's craziness just like everyone else. Alfonsina said that wouldn't happen because she wasn't as stupid as the others. (Oh, I'm sorry, Alfonsina, but you're all idiots.)
When Soledad arrived with Don Loco, Elias asked what was wrong with her foot. Don Loco snarled, "What's it to you?" He put a single bullet in his gun and put the gun at Elias's head, saying, "We'll see if you have better luck than the doctor."
Fortunately for Elias, Sergio barged in before Don Loco could pull the trigger. Don Loco said something about having Elias arrested. Soledad said good, she would also denounce Don Loco to the authorities for abusing her, holding her against her will, etc.
Don Loco told Sergio, "Bring this traitor to my office," and Sergio dragged Soledad away. Elias said something to Don Loco, so Don Loco knocked him out. Later Don Loco's pet cop arrived and arrested Elias.
Elsewhere: Carrying a suitcase, Coral left Don Celso's house in a taxi, unaware that his Evil Nephew Dario was glaring at her from a nearby car. Dario announced, "I am going to kill you, Coral," and followed the taxi.
His car screeched up alongside the taxi. Terrified, Coral told the driver Dario wanted to kill her and begged him to drive faster. (For some reason, it never occured to her to duck -- and apparently Dario didn't have a gun, but how did Coral know that?)
Dario chased the taxi for a while and rammed it with his car. Coral said frantically, "I don't want to die!"
Finally Dario noticed that he was about to have a head-on collision with a truck. I hoped it would hit him, but no such luck. He merely drove off the road and into a wall, then complained, "I lost her!" (It's lucky for her that he's as stupid as everyone else on this show.)
Dr. Vasquez told Nurse Susi he was worried about one of the patients at La Rinconada, young Angel Valtierra. Susi was clearly delighted to hear Angel was back in town.
Luba showed up at La Rinconada and asked Vera why her man (Jaime, aka Mexican Larry) had been snooping around Luba's cave. Alina saw Luba and Vera together and decided to eavesdrop.
Luba warned Vera, "You and your man stay out of my life and my things." Vera revealed that Mexican Larry saw Luba with Thelma and Gaspar at the so-called "abandoned" cabin and asked what that was all about.
As usual, Luba became nervous and lied to protect Gaspar, saying Thelma asked her to put a spell on Duhlina. She intimidated Vera, who promised she and Mexican Larry wouldn't meddle in Luba's affairs again.
Duhlina went back to her room and puzzled about whether Luba really wanted to put a spell on her. (Come on, she lived with Luba for two years, surely she figured out that Luba's wicked witch act was just that, an act to scare people when convenient?)
Orlando told Duhmilio he would marry Duhlina. Emilio said there was one big obstacle to the marriage but he would remove it.
In Don Loco's office: Sergio informed Don Loco and Soledad that Emilio wanted to see them both. Alvaro agreed, then ordered Soledad, "Behave yourself." She said sarcastically, "Yes, my love."
Duhmilio came in and told Alvaro that Orlando was going to marry Duhlina. Don Loco was predictably angry and said it was "unacceptable." Emilio said he only wanted Soledad's permission.
Soledad said to Emilio, "I thought you and Alina--"
Duhmilio said he had decided it was best for everybody if Duhlina married Would-Be Rapist Orlando. (OK, he didn't mention the rapist part. I'm sure he'd forgotten it already.)
In Maximo's office: Maximo sniffed a white rose, saying, "Ah, Rosita, Rosita, how delicious you smell, Rosita." He was startled by the sudden arrival of Singing Aunt Rebeca.
She asked about the rose, so he gave it to her, saying it was for her. She gushed, "You are very gallant!" They started talking about restaurants and SA said she hadn't been in one in "years." (Didn't Thelma ever let her out of the apartment?) I think Maximo offered to take her to a restaurant. They left together. (Watch out, Aunt Rebeca!)
Elsewhere: Thelma for some reason told Orlando that no one, not even the servants, should be told about his plan to marry Duhlina. (This means the servants will find out for sure.)
Back in Don Loco's office: Don Loco was still ranting about Alina's latest wedding plans. Soledad said, "Even if you beat me to death, the most important thing to me is my daughter's happiness!"
She told Duhmilio he had her permission to let Duhlina marry Duhrlando -- no, that doesn't sound good, does it. Dumblando, maybe? But I digress.
Alvaro predictably pulled his gun on Emilio. (I was hoping it still had only one bullet in it, but that turned out not to be the case.)
Emilio said he couldn't defend himself and he thought Don Loco was a bigger man than that. (HE SHOT YOU AT THE ALTAR ON YOUR WEDDING DAY, REMEMBER, DUHMILIO?)
Soledad urged Don Loco to show "good sense." (What planet is this woman living on?)
Emilio encouraged Don Loco to shoot him, but warned that the military would come after Don Loco if he did. (Just like the last time he shout you, Duhmilio??????? Oh, I forgot, NO ONE did anything about that. No one even reported it to your commanding officer. DUH!)
Soledad grabbed Don Loco's arm, saying, "No, Alvaro!" Then Emilio grabbed for the gun. They struggled and the gun went off twice before Emilio forced Don Loco to drop it. Emilio said, "Now, Montellano, you and I, unarmed!"
Coming up on tomorrow's episode: Everyone is stupid again.
A personal note: I am going on vacation and won't be able to do my recaps on Thursday May 10 or Thursday May 17. Sorry for the short notice, but I didn't know myself till this week. Maybe someone can post short notes on those days and the commenters can tell us what happened?
Words from this episode:

Acorralada # 71 Tuesday, April 24, 2007 Days of Horror, Despair, and World Change
Over at Casa Naco, Lala updates Pancholón: The outlook for Diana is bleak, but Diego stood up. Pancho manages to look impactado before Paola comes bouncing in, still flying high on wacky dust. Emilio swaggers in after her. He explains where he found her, blames Pancho for not looking out for her, and starts a shoving match, but Lala breaks it up. Peyote thinks it’s “super cool” to have two studmuffins fighting over a beauty like her. Pancho tells her to go to the bedroom, but Peyola wants to dance, have fun, go back to the beach, wheeee! Pancho is not pleased.
Larry arrives at Villa Vengeance. Nancy just happens to be on a break and Little Doormat just happens to answer the door. We get the Larry-Gaby theme song as Lunkhead tells her he came for news of Diana, and to offer his support. Close-up of Gaby, looking anxious.
Back in the convent in the middle of the jungle, Diana pesters Madrecita with questions the good nun can’t answer. Enter Hermana Sol with a tray. Mother Superior gives us a PSA about the benefits of fruit. It’s only been about ten minutes since Hermana Sol went for that bowl of nourishing selva fruit, but she asks if Diana remembers anything. She doesn’t. (Not that she had a good memory to begin with.) Mother Superior feeds her. Diana smiles and eats.
Up at the Villa, Gaby brings Larry up to speed: Still nada. Luscious Larry moves closer to tell Little Doormat that everything will turn out all right. Things are going well until Gaby mentions Max, Jr. Lunkhead takes this opportunity to ask who Little Maxi’s father really is. Gaby lies and suggests that he leave. Kique might stop by any minute with news of Our Heroine. That goes over about as well as the paternity question. Larry pulls her to him, trying to get her in an embrace, but he’s already blown it. Gaby sends him on his way. She is, as usual, conflicted.
Night falls. Team Gaviota is lined up in the living room, waiting anxiously. Enter Fedora, looking exhausted, and Max, with furrowed brow. Just to make sure we get it, the Orchestra of Doom plays the musical equivalent of “It was a dark and stormy night…” The wreckage has been located, the pilot found dead, but no trace of Our Heroine. If there were survivors, “they’ve been swallowed by the jungle.” There’s almost no chance that Diana’s alive. “It looks like…(gasp, sob)…Diana is dead.” Crescendo from the Orchestra of Doom. We get a “¡No puede ser!” close-up of Gaby, followed by close-ups of the rest of our friends in varying stages of dismay and disbelief. Commercial.
We return from commercial in time to hear Fediota repeat her prophecy of doom. Gaby refuses to accept that Diana is dead. Max points out that only the pilot is dead for sure. Gaviota starts to get hysterical thinking of all the dangers of the Nameless Jungle that she’s heard so much about: Wild animals, quicksand, etc. Hold on. Was that supposed to be quicksand that Diana fell into last Wednesday? If so, that would make an excellent end for Dr. Evil if cannibals or lunatics don’t get to him first. But back to TeleMiami. After some ping-ponging between hope and extreme pessimism, both Grannies lose it and Max takes Doña Santa upstairs.
At Our Lady of the Selva sin Nombre, Diana continues to wonder. Madrecita continues to answer by way of platitudes and PSA’s. After the nun blesses her and leaves, Diana thought-bubbles more of the same questions.
Cut to Gaviota, holding Max Jr. Cue piano music. She tells him that she should have been the one to die, she was the one full of hatred and vengeance, etc. Enter Granny M to urge her not to give up hope. But just in case Diana really is dead, God forbid, maybe it’s time to tell Gaby that Fediota’s her real mother. No. In fact, Gaviota decides to make a vow to keep the truth a secret until Diana returns. Max Jr. sleeps peacefully through all the pleading and sobbing and vowing.
The piano music takes us into the next scene. Max is bummed out. He tells Granny Santa that life is unfair, he’s being punished by God. No, says Granny S, God isn’t punishing him. (Judging by the white loafer / white sock combination, I’d say Wardrobe is.) More blather about the Irascibles reaping all the evil that they’ve sown. Max puts his head in Granny’s lap and they have a good cry. Granny tries unsuccessfully to bolster his spirits but Max ends the conversation with “No quiero vivir” and the tears flow on.
At Dr. Evil’s Lair, Emilio drops by expecting to meet Our Hero and gets Camila and Silvia instead. Camila’s “invisible” plastic bra-straps are plainly visible under the baby-blue ruched tube top with the off-the-shoulder sleeves. Emilio doesn’t stay long. Little Sister makes him angry by blithely stating that Max will forget Diana and love her only when that nurse is six feet under. After he leaves, Sylvia wonders what they could have said. I wonder what made her think the skull-and-crossbones headband was cute. Our cunning vixens mockingly declare themselves little angels and high five each other.
Max is coming down the stairs of the Villa. Diego sits morosely by the couch. The Orchestra of Doom treats us to a soulful rendition of the Anguish Concerto as Diego says, “We lost her, Irazabal. We both lost her.” Max tries to remember if he has a line. Diego looks defeated. Max decides that he doesn’t have a line but should probably come up with a facial expression anyway. Commercial.
Over at Emilio’s, the remainder of the Irascible clan is assembled on the couch. Emilio stands behind them while Debora, clad in another ensemble from the Dominatrix Barbie collection, sits off to the side. While Max and the gang rehash about the rescue expedition, Debora listens and plays with her hair. Our Hero gets emotional and that’s when Our Little Blonde Weasel decides to join in. She takes a potshot at Max; he, Emilio, Yolanda, and Larry all turn on her as one. Larry advises her to keep quiet. Max refuses Yolanda’s invitation to stay and Debora berates him for preferring to sleep with that “bean taco” Camila. He tells her to think what she wants and leaves. Faux Marfil gets pissy with everyone for staring at her and stalks off to her room. Once inside, she begins counting her chickens. She’s immensely tickled by the idea that nobody survived the crash. Except for Bruna, all the obstacles in her path have been removed.
Intercoastal Five Star Rentals. A filler scene in which Max rehashes Rescue Mission, Day One, and Camila pretends to care.
Cut to Our Heroine, dreaming of the crash. The plane is going down and she’s trying to wake Marfil. She wakes up in a cold sweat. What can it all mean?
Back to Dr. Evil’s Lair. More filler. Silvia is trying to tell Camila that she has the Maestra de las Ciencias Ocultas to thank for Diana’s disappearance. Camila maintains her healthy skepticism.
It’s a fine morning at Our Lady of the Selva sin Nombre. Diana is up, taking her first tentative steps with the help of Hermana Sol, and Grillo for an adoring public. The conversation is as witless as it is brief. Mother Superior comes in to beam. Diana thanks them all and flirtatiously kisses Grillo on the forehead, which excites the poor lad so much he has to leave the room. Diana asks to see Andrés.
At Villa Vengeance, Gaby’s on the phone with Max. He’s called to tell her there is no news. This takes them a while, giving us time to note that Gaby’s been raiding Octavia’s closet again. Anyway, Little Doormat hangs up and the doorbell rings. It’s Pilar, back like an allergic rash and every bit as welcome. She’s flaunting considerably less décolletage than Gaby, but her miniskirt rivals Caramelo’s. They have the usual argument over Luscious Larry, only this time Gaby says Pilar can have him, just quit coming over. She’s had it with Pilar and her warnings, and if she doesn’t leave, Little Doormat will throw her out. Exit Pilar in a huff. Chalk one up for Gaby, even if it was misguided to the point of stupid.
Cut to Andrés, asleep in a room much like Diana’s. Enter Diana and Mother Superior, who informs Our Heroine that he’s asleep. Evidently la Madre Elegida is under the impression that Diana’s amnesia is so complete that she does not recognize sleep. Clash of cymbals from the Orchestra of Doom. Diana and Madrecita contemplate Our Villain’s heaving pectorals in silent awe. Commercial.
Back to the Mansion, where Diego and Granny S are hanging out in the backyard. Doña Santa is a little confused today and tortures him with rosy fantasies of Max and Dianita’s big wedding, and their great love for each other. Fortunately Max already divorced that wicked Marfil…Granny prattles happily on in this vein, right down to humming The Wedding March. You have to give Diego credit for holding his tongue through all of this.
Time to see how the lovebirds at Casa Naco are doing. Pancho’s on his way to the Mansion to “support Diego.” Paola’s looking contrite in a clingy, belly-baring v-neck and her entry in the denim micromini competition. She and Pancho have the requisite conversation about Diana. Then Pancholón tells her they need to talk later about her drug use. As soon as the door closes behind him, Paola runs over to the phone and calls René, who’s doing push-ups on the beach. She asks him to score for her, but he’s worried about her escalating drug use. He’s afraid she’s going to wind up an addict. (I think she’s already there, pal.) Paola claims she can stop any time she wants to and hangs up.
Back at the Villa, we get a filler scene during which Diego sits in his wheelchair, unable to disguise his boredom, while Granny S confesses to a crush on Clark Gable and wishes that Larry would tie the knot with Gaby instead of that tiresome Pilar. She heads back to the Mansion to find a novio for Paola, a doctor or a judge. She waves goodbye in her most endearingly senile manner. Diego philosophizes that Granny Santa’s better off in her dream world.
We return to the convent in the middle of the jungle. Diana does not recognize Andrés. Madrecita decides to leave Our Heroine alone with him. Diana sits on the edge of the bed to get a closer look. Naturally he wakes up. He promises not to hurt her, he’s glad that she helped him, etc. Diana looks at him as if he were speaking Albanian. She asks who he is. He gives her a quizzical look. “Don’t you remember me?” Commercial.
After commercial, Andrés informs Our Heroine that he’s alive thanks to her and for that he’s eternally grateful, and by the way, it would be swell if she didn’t press charges. “For what?” “Uh, nothing. So you really don’t remember?” The conversation limps along until she asks his name. Andrés thinks about this and comes up with “Billy.” That doesn’t sound right, not even to Diana. She tells him he scares her and bails. “Billy” tells us that he’s safe as long as she remembers nothing.
At Emilio’s, Debora’s lying on the bed with an inflight magazine, but she’s really trying to decide between the hot little designer number she saw in Vogue and a 9mm Glock semiautomatic to replace the one Isabel wrestled away from her. Dr. Evil calls from a hospital bed. Debora is not happy to hear that he’s alive. Close-up of Our Little Blonde Weasel, impactada.
Time to check in at Our Lady of the Selva sin Nombre. Diana is pacing her room. Enter Grillo. He’s brought her a present: A baby bunny with green eyes, just like Diana’s. Her name is Luna. Our Heroine is encantada for a moment, then plunges into self-pity. Cue piano music. What if she never recovers her memory? She may never leave the selva, etc.
Over at Villa Vengeance, we get a filler scene of Little Doormat telling Granny M that Max is in the jungle looking for Diana. Granny M weeps, looking quite smart in her lilac jacket and maroon dress.
Back at the convent, Diana (still clutching Luna) has given up all hope and asks Mother Superior if she can stay at the convent. Speaking very slowly, Madrecita explains that the convent is full up. She doesn’t have any job openings. Diana has to find out if she has family, people who are looking for her, etc. What did Andrés/Billy have to say? The piano tinkles ominously in the background. He didn’t give her any details. Diana doesn’t remember Billy, but she’s afraid of him. Enter Hermana Sol to announce that Mother Superior has a visitor. Madrecita says they’ll continue their conversation later. Our Heroine holds Luna to her cheek and sighs.
Mother Superior’s office. We get a close-up of Madrecita asking “Who are you? How can I help you?” And there, standing before a shrine with a statue of the Virgen de la Selva sin Nombre, is Our Hero. He turns towards Mother Superior, half in shadow and half illuminated by the Virgin’s shrine.
Ponder symbolism and roll credits.

Zorro Wed. April 25, 2007: Where Pizarro has goals and Fernando finds a new friend.
Pizarro wants to know if Esmeralda will accept his offer to help with her mother, Sara Kali. He says that with his help, Esme and Renzo will be freed from the prison and he’ll be able to keep Montero from harming SK. Esme doubts that Piza will betray Monty. Piza says that his loyalty is to the Spanish crown not the post of his commander. Renzo says that Piza only wants power himself and has killed many innocent people to get that power—including Miguel. Renzo lunges for Piza and Esme has to hold him back. Renzo wants to know how they can accept his word and Esme adds that it would be hard for them to pretend to accept his word after all he’s done. Renzo says that he is no weak dove (mansa paloma), but what he’s done is for personal reasons---Monty’s crazy. He backs this up by telling Esme that Monty’s ordered a manhunt in the city for SK. So if Esme wants to save her mother, herself, and her unborn child, she should trust him. He also adds that with Monty crazy and on the loose, Diego's life is in danger. Renzo tells Esme that they should discuss this and he asks Piza to give them time alone. Piza says he anticipated this, that’s why he got them out of their cells and provided them with food, BUT, he reminds them, if they want to get what they want they’ll need to get together with him.
Diego, in his Zorro mask, has been discovered by Bernardo somewhere outside the cave. Bernie tries to sign to Diego, but he’s unable to understand what Bernie is trying to say. Diego asks what Bernie wants, and he suspects that Bernie wants him to return to the cave. Diego doesn’t like this idea. He accuses Bernie and Padre Tomas of holding him captive in the cave and now that he’s escaped they are upset. Bernie kicks Diego and the two begin a sword fight. Bernie fights a little dirty, but the whole exchange is pretty entertaining.
Esme tells Renzo she doesn’t trust Piza. Renzo says that perhaps what they need to do is pretend to go along with Piza in order to buy some time. Renzo asks what if Piza was being genuine, but Esme doubts it. Well, Renzo adds, a rift between Piza and Monty is a good thing and is definitely to their advantage. Right now, they don’t have a clear plan on what to do with SK, so he feels they have no alternative but to accept Piza’s offer.
Almudena and Al are reunited, because Yumali arranged for Rafael (one of Al’s workers) to bring Dena to Al. The couple exchanges words about Maria Pia and how she’s stopped hemorrhaging---things look good. Dena questions Al’s choice of fashion, why is he wearing his military uniform. Al tells her that he’s going to confront Monty militarily and needs to dress the part. I thought they’ve discussed this before, but Lord knows they like to go over things again and again and again on this show. Anyway, Dena asks Al to promise to be careful, and he agrees. They get all mushy while Yumi stands in the background.
In town, Mariangel follows a naked-crazy Fernando as he wanders the streets among the crowd of people. She begs him to return home and to not throw his life away. Fernando pays no attention to her. Olmos pulls out a poncho and somehow manages to get it on FS. The people are cheering because FS has given away his wealth. Mangle is angered to hear this and demands that they give it back.
Diego and Bernie continue to sword fight. Diego “wins” and starts to mock Bernardo (mouthing words and generally looking silly---it’d be kinda funny if it wasn’t so rude to such a loyal employee, but Diego knows not what he’s doing, so I’ll forgive him). Diego goes to leave, telling Bernie he won’t kill him, but adds that Bernie better not follow him. Oh yeah, and that priest better not follow him either. He calls Tornado Roberto and says let’s go.
Padre Tomas and Doctor Agapito discuss Maria Pia (obviously pre-HIPPA regulations). PT scolds the doctor for having prepped a grave for MP’s impending death---how he always seems to be doing this and then the patients recover. They rehash some about the happenings in town, mostly about the de la Vegas and Fernando Sanchez. The Cardinal comes in to tell PT that Nutty Nun has been “cured” of her demonic possession and now she needs to be baptized. PT meets with her and she’s happy to get baptized. Brother Aaron, the exorcist, is introduced to PT, who isn’t too receptive to the man. BA notices that PT seems skeptic about the whole deal. BA says that the demon left NN and probably found a new victim, so they need to watch out. Somewhere in the country, Camba finds a snake and starts to chant in his native tongue. I think we’ve discovered who the new victim is.
Esme lists reasons not to trust Piza to Renzo. Renzo says he saw vanity and ambition in Piza’s face and they can use that to help themselves. They talk about how Piza wants a letter sent to SK, and Renzo suggests they put in a coded message letting SK know that Piza isn’t exactly considered trustworthy ( Renzo says it’s like entering the wolf’s mouth—la boca del lobo). Renzo asks Esme why Diego hasn’t come to save them, he implies that Diego’s love must not be that strong. Esme makes an excuse. Then Renzo suggests that Zorro could save them, but wait he’s probably dead. Esme gets upset and tells Renzo not to talk that way. Renzo notices that she seems more concerned for Zorro than Diego. He wonders why, it’s like how she feels for Diego is equal to how she feels for Zorro. Esme says she’s just thankful to Zorro for saving her mother, and she loves Diego. Well, Renzo adds, without Diego or Zorro it seems like Piza is their only option.
Diego, still wearing his Zorro mask, happens upon a picnic. Some comedic stuff happens, but basically in his attempt to get food, Diego is called a criminal and Zorro. Since he’s been accused, Diego decides to live up to the name and robs the picnickers of their jewelry and cash.
The soldier who came for help after discovering the gypsies and SK returns to the prison (how he recognized SK without the iron mask? I don’t know). He tells Piza what they found. Piza takes him to Esme and Renzo and has him tell them what he knows. See, Piza says, I can get SK anytime I want, but I want to help. So give me a letter. Esme wants to know what the soldier will do. Piza says he’s a loyal soldier and that he can manage him. Esme says she’s not going to write a letter. Renzo says we go with you to SK or no deal. Piza agrees but says its going to get even more dangerous.
Jonas and the gypsies are near the Mission. Laisha is worried about the gitanas being held in the prison. She says surely by now Monty has started to kill them. SK is also worried (first ulcers of the episode, 1& 2). Jonas scolds Laisha, it is nobody’s fault that Monty is a killer. SK defends Laisha. Jonas plans for some of the gypsies to scout out a safe path to the Mission. Oh, Javier is in these scenes, it looks like he was only shot in the arm.
NN is baptized. At the end of the ceremony Bernie arrives at the church. He gets PT alone and fills him in on Diego’s escape. PT is glad to hear that Diego fought with his sword because he’s obviously remembering things, but PT knows they need to find him before he gets into some serious trouble. Meanwhile, the picnickers are reporting the robbery to some soldiers. We find out that one of the victims is Gaspar Santorreal. Zorro also finds out this info when he reviews his loot. He likes the name and decides that Tornado/Roberto’s name is going to now be Gaspar.
Tobias is dressing up as Zorro. Catalina is concerned for him (ulcer 3), how can they trust Piza’s word that his soldiers will not harm Tobi as Zorro.
Mangle runs into Monty, who laughs at her because of what happened with Fernando, calling him a loser. Mangle is irritated with Monty and Monty tells her that she’s just like her dad-- both of them are losers. Mangle tells Monty that their days/nights together are now a thing of the past. He doesn’t seem to concerned because he thinks she’s got no one to turn to except for him. Monty leaves and Mangle mutters to herself that they’ll see who ends up with the last laugh.
Brother Aaron is riding in his cart out of town when he runs into a poncho-clad Fernando, lying on the side of the road. BA offers FS water and comments that with night coming FS is in no condition to last outside—no shoes, no food, and little clothing. BA asks FS where he’s going and FS answers that he is looking for God. BA is excited because that’s what he’s doing as well. He asks FS to come along with him, everything will be all right. He loads FS up into the cart and away they go.
MP asks Dr. Agapito about Diego and Al. He tells her that the situation is serious and he probably shouldn’t be telling her in her condition, but he blabs all of the details----Dolores is in prison, Diego and Al are both missing, Monty has gone crazy, and Fernando is wandering around town naked. MP wonders what is going on with Fernando.
Esme and Renzo are back in their prison cells. Esme worries about the fate of her unborn child and her mother. Renzo tries to reassure her that they’ll have a back up plan in case Piza betrays them. Renzo swears that if Piza plays a dirty trick on him, he’ll make sure that Piza will pay dearly (of course we’ve seen Renzo take on Piza and I think that Piza has the advantage).
Piza finds his loyal soldier. They talk about keeping quiet about SK. Piza tells the soldier he knows that he’s a good soldier and then he proceeds to choke the life out of him. After the guy is dead, Piza says I know you were good. Does that seem like a bit of regret?
Al takes back the hacienda along with his group of workers. Al looks like the king of the mountain. Some of the soldiers take off and head back to report to Monty.
Monty asks Piza what’s the status on finding SK. Piza says no luck so far. Monty tells him that he’s lost confidence in his abilities as second in command. From this moment on, Pizarro is on probation. Just then, one of the other soldiers comes in. He reports to Monty that there was news of Sara Kali, but the soldier who came back with the news wanted to report it directly to Pizarro. Monty looks at Piza and demands to know how come Piza didn’t tell him this. Piza tells Monty that he never met with the soldier, but he will and he’ll find out what’s going on. The other soldier says no can do, the soldier with the info is dead. Monty looks at Piza with his pinched up weasel face.
Bernardo finds Al and reports about Diego and his amnesia. He let’s Al know that he’s lost and doesn’t trust Bernie or Padre Tomas. Al is worried (he’s back, ulcer 4) that if Monty finds him things will be really bad for Diego.
Piza goes to Esme’s cell and tells her that things have changed. He let’s her know that Monty is now suspicious of him. Piza suggests they get Al to help them, perhaps Al could use his contacts in court to put some pressure on Monty. That way he’d be distracted and they’d be able to get more done w/ Monty’s attention turned elsewhere. Esme demands that Piza find Diego. Piza resists at first, but Esme is insistent. She demands that Diego be found and taken care of, if that happens, for sure Monty will be destroyed. Piza appears to agree to her demands.
Zorro is riding in town and finds one of his “wanted” posters. From the opposite side of town, Tobi-Zorro comes riding in, the two men are face-to-face across the plaza. Who is this?, Diego asks. END OF EPISODE/ Final ulcer count 4

Acorralada #72 Wednesday 4/25/07 "Found!"
First, I was surprised to see Max meeting with the Mother Superior of the convent. How did he get there? Fellow recappers, please help. I have skimmed the previous recaps without success. Obviously, I can't skip any episodes anymore!
To review Monday and Tuesday, since I'm still confused: Real Marfil is left in the ocean? Iggy escapes? Here on Wednesday, we will see Iggy in a hospital bed. With Debora yelling at him. How did Iggy get back to the mainland? How did Max get to the jungle? Oy!
I'm sorry we never got to see the manicomio. That would have made for some funny scenes. I am also sorry that I missed seeing the dwarf. Now, to clarify further, Iggy thinks Debora is Real Marfil, and it was Real Marfil who was in on the kidnapping with him, right? So he is talking to her as if they were in on the kidnapping together?
Back to the episode. Max is meeting with Mother Superior, and he is asking if she has a patient named Diana.
Larry is talking to Granny M. He is upset that Gaby won't talk to him. She encourages him to keep trying.
Someone is going to tell fedora something.
Larry and Gaby talk. We havent' had many kisses. It hurts me to see this. (Sorry, I made cursory notes here and don't have time to watch again. I don't remember what happened here.)
Pilar and Kiki share the good news that she's pregnant. In perfect telenovela fashion, as with Diana, it only takes one time.
Iggy is in the hospital talking to Debora. I don't know how he got there.
Bruno and O and Yolanda are talking: Are you sure Diana is dead in the jungle? Octavia boasts: First I stole Paco, now I will steal everything else. Don't be so happy, says Yolanda. Bruno likes the idea. After all, if not for Diana, her daughter Marfil would have Max. O smirks. She says Max will not return to Marfil even if Diana were dead.
Diego apologizes to Nancy for his previous blast. She says no apologies are necessary.
Back at the convent, Max says he's looking for a girl named Diana.
Lala and Pancho talk. Lala hears she's not dead. Diego says, she must live.
Back at the beach, it's another therapy session with Dr. Rene and his weepy patient Yolanda. Yolanda is wearing a white tube top and a blue scarf around her neck. Why is she crying? Because she can't afford to get her roots done. (Seriously, her highlight job is looking terrible.) No, she is crying because she has done terrible things to Fedora, and because of her, her nephews, whom she loves like sons, have suffered. She finds out that Diana was kidnapped and in a plane crash and cries some more. It's not clear how she could not have known this.
Mother Superior tells Max about the mystery patient. Andres listens in from behind the door.
Something here happens with Kiki and Pilar that I did not watch closely. Please fill in if you know.
Fedora pours more scotch, belts it down and pours another. Now she takes a handfill of pills. Forgive me, God, she says before collapsing.
Max comes in to Diana. Diana, he calls her. Who are you? she asks.
I am Max, your lover. Remember? Everyone thinks you're dead. He leans in for a kiss, and she kisses him back. Huh? Someone with no memory kisses a complete stranger?
Gaby and Kiki have a boring talk about their "relationship." He is trying to pin her down, but she is reluctant to commit. She has to get rid of her feelings for Larry. She remembers how he did nothing while his mother sent her to the servants' quarters, and she gets upset. What gets me upset is not understanding Kiki's motivation in all this. Why is he so eager to have her? He's so struck by her hotness? Revenge on Larry? It just makes no sense, as written and played here.
Caramelo finds Gaviota passed out in the bedroom and calls for help. All the family gathers around shouting, but of course, no one calls 911.
Meanwhile, Kiki and Gaby are talking about how she was left at the church. Kiki agrees that it is not fair (while he caused it).
Max and Diana continue kissing. The magic of his Maxi Medicine cures her amnesia immediately. She now remembers all. I remember all, my name is Diana and my husband is Diego. But she curiously does not tear into Max with the usual hate. With your kiss I remember all!
But she doesn't remember the kidnapping. Only that people with masks took her.
She doesn't remember who was with her. Max says that the good thing is that she can return.
Yolanda and Rene continue their boring therapy session.
Paola and Jorge and two other people are on the beach and have a boring discussion about Paola's "husband" and her situation.
Suddenly, they look over and see Yolanda and Rene hugging. Everyone makes fun, but Paola tries to be nice. She says it's "super cool" that Yolanda has someone of his age. Yolanda tells Rene that Paola has always been like that--she never takes anything seriously.
Diana and Max continue talking: She is eager to return home to see everyone, especially her baby. Max says he has held the baby and he's doing great.
He's happy they took good care of her. Diana thanks Max for finding her.
An ambulance comes for Fedora anyway.
Diana and Max talk to Mother Superior. Psychology 101 lecture: We learn that amnesia is a defense mechanism to forget something awful.
Gaviota is now in the hospital after having her stomach pumped. Gaby and Caramelo ask her why she took pills. She couldn't live without Paco and Diana. But she has Gaby and the baby who need you, says Caramelo. She says she can't fight anymore. She falls asleep. Kiki comes in. (You will see later and in tomorrow's episode that he seems to hang around hear like a fifth wheel. There's one funny scene that I can't resist commenting on from Thursday: During a crucial discussion between Paco and Caramelo, Kiki is caught in the background and keeps moving around uncomfortably. Why didn't the director stop the scene?)
In the Convent Diana and Max are told how a young man with a bullet wound found her. He was called "Billy."
Pancho shows up at the hospital. He wants to discuss marriage. Caramelo asks if he wants her or Paola.
Back at the convent, the nun opens the door to show them "Billy," but he has escaped.
They wonder if he was the one who kidnapped her. Diana and the Mother Superior have a long talk about how Diana is safe now.
Caramelo and Paco continue to argue. He claims that Paola is also his wife. If only wishing would make it so. Caramelo wonders how long he would keep this up. The hospital isn't the best place to discuss this. Blah, blah, blah.
Larry, Emilio and Yolanda learn that Max has found Diana. Debora realizes the jig may be up.
Yolanda mentions how she saw Paola on the beach. She should be there with the family and get out of the bigamy situation. Debora has a tantrum.
Paco now goes to the hospital. Gaviota wakes up and sees him. Paco, you came!

La Fea Más Bella #261 4/25/07 A proposal, a pizza suit, a he-she and a he, he, he
Lety stomps past the cuartel. The cuartel talk to Omar. He flatters them as queens of gossip and masters of intrigue. They are about to tell him a secret, what Caro told them. They give him the address and the time that he can “run” into Aurora.
Old man from the sea rescues Lety in her office from her horrible deed of stabbing Fer’s heart. She thanks him for coming and hugs him. She said she’s very sad, and he says he knows it will take a while to get over him. She says that she has to, and he tells her she’ll have all his love to do it with so don’t worry. She asks if it will bother him that Fer is her assistant. Like the proper control freak he is, he says yes, but he qualifies it, that having Fer near isn’t going to help her get on with things. I’m thinking maybe it will help. Maybe it will help her fall back in love with him like she’s supposed to. She says she can’t kick him out though as he still needs his family's trust restored in him and she needs to separate the work stuff from the love. She tells Aldo she can handle anything with him around. Darn it Lety!! You should be able to handle anything. Period. No Aldo or anyone else needed!!!!
Caro goes to see her old friend Luigi. He resents being called old. She asks him if he would help her play a trick on Omar. He agrees delightedly.
Aldo & Lety are still talking and Aldo thinks they should start thinking about the future. She figures he’s not talking about the business. He says he is, but he isn’t, because she knows he doesn’t want to keep Conceptos and it’s only going to be a brief part of his life. She remembers of course that his life is the sea, and his own restaurant. She promises she will do everything she can to get him back his money so he can fulfill it. He says our money. How sweet. Baby talk and babble ensue. He offers to cook her dinner.
Omar is telling himself Aurora won’t escape him. Fer comes in screaming and says that he’s done lamenting. He can’t let Lety get away and he's going to do something. Omar is traumatized by his sudden screeching entrance. They mock the saying "voy a ponerme in Shock" a political slogan from a campaign in 1973.
Fer is mad; he is looking for someone to release his fury upon and Omar is just sitting right there there on a silver platter for him. He asks if O will lend him his face. Omar likes this idea of the old bully of Conceptos coming back and reminds Fer of the qualities of his former self. Fer says what he needs to do is pay off the debt and get rid of Also once and for all. Omar wonders how he would get all that money. We can see dim light bulbs going off in Fer's head.
Tommi seeks more advice from Aldo. He tells him he wants to propose. A asks T if he is sure about it. He says the surest. Aldo tells him if he is talking to a man that is completely sure of what he wants then advice is worthless. He wishes him luck and congratulations him. Tomas isn’t sure if Aldo agreed with his plan or not.
In a random park the cuartel and Caro are hiding behind some trees. Omar shows up looking for Aurora. He sees her silhouette in the distance. He is blindly filled with anticipation of lust. He approaches her. He sweet talks her and puckers up. Aurora turns around and it’s Luigi!!!! He says it's about time Omar wanted this and he tries to kiss him back. They dance around while the cuartel and Caro laugh. Luigi wants more kisses!
Fer writes in his diary. He reflects that Lety gets relief from hers, so maybe it will work if he writes too. He starts: Today something awful happened. AD took away the love of my life. I handed her to him on a silver platter. I'm very stupid. I didn't think it would happen to me. Really, it shouldn't happen to anyone. I should tell the world about this so that nobody makes the same mistakes that I did.
Caro is telling Lety about the Trampa. She laughs hysterically. I guess Fer is out of her mind. She definitely was more worried about Aldo when he found out about her and Fer. Oh well. She says now she’ll never be Aurora the justice seeker again. Caro tries to convince her that Aurora is her, that she is that beauty and she should let herself be beautiful. She says no, I’m Lety the Fea and that’s how I like it and that’s how I’m going to stay.
Fer continues that he should write a book for this purpose, to tell everyone. A book about the memories of a Don Juan Region 4, Pirate. What should the title be? The flavor of sadness. Ha Ha
Lola watches a commercial while retrieving a tape for someone and realizes that the mysteriosa lives in Lety’s area!
Caro is telling Omar he deserved the joke because he bugged her first. She tells him to accept that MM (Mujer Misteriosa, aka, Aurora, aka Lety la Fea) doesn’t want to see him anymore. He can't understand why someone wouldn't want to enjoy his fine specimen. She leaves his office in a huff after telling him he needs to change his habits of conquest, she doesn’t want to discuss the subject anymore, and perhaps it’s necessary that she doesn’t see him anymore. Just then Fer comes in and wonders what did you do to Caro, she’s an angry woman? They jest a bit, then Fer tells him there is going to be a committee meeting at the house
Tomas buys the ring and believes Ali will love it.
Lety is looking for someone during which time Lola runs up saying she knows who MM is. Lety is impactada and covers by wanting to know who. Sara is suspicious of her interest in the gossip. PM surmises it's because she already knows this woman lives near her. Lety says she's seen her but doesn't know who she is. The cuartel get frustrated with her.
Martha’s husband brings Tomi up with a bunch of flowers in his taxi. He goes in. In the meantime, Celso and Gordo Lobo discuss buying houses because Tomas could do it and Lobo decides he's going to buy his wife a house because it's maybe possible for him to financed too then.
The cuartel is talking again about MM and Sara begins putting two and two together, that if the woman lives near Lety, and is a friend of Caro then maybe Lety is Aurora!! Hey wait a minute. Juana is supposed to be our closet genius with the prophetic clues. What happened?
Anyway Sara figures it out. Everyone laughs in certain disbelief. Omar says there is no way his lover could be Lety. There is nothing alike about them. PM questions that they are really together. He says yes we are lovers. Lety comes up behind him and laughs that he really presumes they are lovers. She says we women have plenty in common and maybe there's even a little of me in your Aurora. She walks away, but listens through her door crack. Omar rejects that idea and says his love is elegant and beautiful and the gargolita is a monster and is fea, fea, fea. To this Aldo walks up. Uh oh.
Waldo can’t decide if he’s going skiing or wandering inside an office. Sorry but that’s a little long and striped to be a Valentino. He wants to speak to Omar alone in his office. Aldo tells him he will never call Lety ugly again, and what’s more, he will apologize publicly. To this Omar protests and calls Aldo crazy until Aldo gets in his face and requires it. He then tells him to get the heck out of his office. Twice.
The journalists ponder Aurora’s picture.
Tomas calls Ali into his office, He comes out from the tree of roses and pops the question holding up the ring. Ali gets plenty wide eyed at the ring.
Fer calls a meeting at home and the whole family shows up. Even long lost Ana Leticia. She thinks it's ok if he wants to get some surgeries, as no one really knows what he wanted and they all speculate about his reasons for calling them together. He tells them he wants to pay the debt as soon as possible and to do that he’s going to sell all of his belongings. The “family” is impactada.
Lety is mad at what Omar said. She wishes she could get back at him somehow, she decides she will serve justice again as she draws more on her eyebrows.
Back at Casa Mendoroel, Ariel tells Fer that he ruined the business so he’s got to fix it. On his own. They fight like usual. Humb says they won't get anywhere like that.
Fer knows this decision will leave him out in the cold, but he has to do it. While they are discussing this, Bozo seems to be trying to figure out what all the belongings are.
Omar says even if they sell everything it’s not going to pay it all, Fer says he knows, but at least it will reduce the amount owed quite a bit.
AL worries about selling her house. Fer says well if you want to support me it’s ok, you don’t have to sell your house. You have to sell your house, your car, your jewelry and more. She asks if she even has to sell her implants! He says, well, if you can get them out and sell them then sure that would be great! In fact, we could sell them by the liter because we'd probably make more money that way.
Fer says he knows doing all this is a risk, but it's something that will help them all.
Somehow Ali turns up at her desk again. Tomi wants to know what her answer is. She whispers something to him. He is impactada and tells her he didn’t say those bad things. She continues by telling him she could never live the sensible life with him. He counters that he is at least a self made man and has worked hard for everything he has. She tells him it’s not enough. He asks her one last time and she shouts NO!!!
Tomas loses it. He puts his hands down into Martha’s pizza and picks it up and brings it to his chest in agony. He writhes in emotional pain clutching the pizza. To this Martha loses it too. Her lunch is being destroyed. They are all wailing away. PM tries to contain Martha. Finally Tomas rubs the pizza all over him. Must be some sort of Mexican pity ritual I’m just not familiar with. Does this make you undetected by the misery gods or something? Anyway….
Lety is in her office practicing her Aurora walk. Just then her phone rings. She answers in Her deep Aurora voice. It’s Waldo and he wants to know why she answers this way. A couple more mi amor’s and he tells her he wanted to meet her but he’s got to work really late. She is not upset. He asks if she is ok about Omar’s comments and she says fine. He tells her no one will dis' her ever again.
Humb is not really interested in doing away with his comforts and tries to come up with a reason not to make the decision. Bozo backs him because I’m sure she’ll be damned to have to give up her wig collection. Fer says he knows this makes them nervous and says that he might even have to come back to live with them, which he knows Bozo would like, but he not as much. Ari says he won’t sell anything. He and AL leave after Fer loses composure about their lack of support.
Luigi and Caro rehash the joke. He says how funny it was to see Omar in that state. He wants to know who the friend is. Caro won’t tell him no matter what. He says he would be more upset if it was a male friend rather than a female friend. Luigi wants to do another prank.
Omar tells Fer that his idea is not so good. Besides, he really has nothing other than his little apartment and that really won't help to sell. Fer still insists he needs to do this to save the business. They joke that Omar does everything he tells him, even take a seat when he asked. Omar gets a call on his cell phone. It's someone trying to arrange a meeting for him with Aurora. He takes the phone number on his tie to call back because he's not sure if he should go. Fer is surprised because he was so loco for her, but O says it's a message from an unknown person so he needs to watch out. While they are talking, Mar walks up and they cover.
Tomas is consoled by the cuartel for his rejection. Lety comes out. He doesn’t want her to know. He makes the cuartel follow his lead to hide his pain. PM gives him his jacket. He leaves complaining his coat smells like Pizza. Lety wants to know what's up but realizes she has to get going. Ali comes up and the cuartel tell her she should have some pity on the man she destroyed. She tells the cockroaches to get out of her way because she forgot her bug spray today.
Fer is on the couch talking with Mar and he is surprised and pleased that she is willing to help him. She says well she's been thinking this whole time that there’s just some things that are more important, and one of those is that I care for you.
And we are back where we started.

Duelo de Pasiones - Wed April 25 - Max Learns He Has a Son, One He has Always Wished For
In Mexico City Coral plus two of her Cueva de Diablo friends sit listening to an attorney read Don Celsos will.
Rosita and Carmen chat. Rosita claims that she knows that Santos is still alive. Carmen tells her Let God hear you daughter. Rosita leaves the room and Carmen prays to the virgin de Guadalupe to return her son.
Santos has decided to take a walk around town to see if he will recognize anything. Doctor Zavala/Einstein warns Santos to not get near Alvaro Montellano nor Don Max. Santos tells him that he won’t and he will return later that evening.
Coral receives her great fortune as her two cave mates sign as witnesses. As she looks off in space she sees the evil nephew out of the corner of her eye. She screams, one of the cave mates (possibly the club bouncer?) gives chase. He reports back that the wimp has fled running.
The Singing Aunt and Don Max tour the courtyard of La Rinconada. He finally asks her if she went to his office. SA denies doing that and asks him why he is asking. Max hesitates and SA talks over him telling him that he is just confused.
Don Loco has tied Soledad up at her hands and feet and has left her to sit on her bed. He removes his gun and hat, takes a chair, props up his feet and tells her to shut her pipe hole so he can rest. Soledad spies the gun sitting on the dresser as she watches Don Loco fall asleep.
Emilio and Alina keep up their silly argument. Where will you go? It’s dangerous for you. I want to help you. You don’t believe me. I don’t need your help. Ugh!
Vera acts like she is trying to be a friend to the most popular girl in high school. Thelma, the popular one, does not want Vera as her friend or for her to be around for that matter. Thelma is going through all the clothes that no longer fit her as she complains how her pregnancy has made her deformed. Vera tries to talk her into being excited about her pregnancy but Thelma doesn’t care to hear it. She ends up giving Vera all of her pre-pregnancy shirts. Vera is thrilled; the shirts are of the finest quality. Gosh this must mean that Thelma likes her. She really likes her!
Luba prays to the Virgincita that her chest will show up. Gaspar complains that all the servants are afraid of them. Luba tells him that the worse part is that they are accusing her of being a bad witch. They will have to leave soon. Plus Cacique said he would find her where ever she is….
There is a flash back or a flash to another group of people. A man brings in a woman who he calls Myrka, she is a curandera. An ailing man on the bed screams that he doesn’t want another witch to touch him, not after what that Luba did to his son. The first man tells the sick man to trust in Myrka. The sick man finally agrees but only after he warns her not to use any bad herbs on him. If she does his friend will kill her.
Alina whines to Tonkey/Donkey bored little doggie.
Rosita tells Braulio that Castulo would know if Max killed Santos.
Angel tells Emilio that he believes in Alina, and guess what?! She’s in love with you, Emilio!
Emilio and Angel discuss how Emilio’s love (Alina) is impossible. He’s married, she’s an idiot. Angel tells Emilio to fight for her.
Rosita tells Braulio that Castulo would sell his mother for money. They will get him to tell them what happened to Santos.
Emilio complains that Angel didn’t see Alina in bed with Orlando. Angel tells him to get over it, get divorced, be free, get with Alina. Emilio keeps talking about seeing Alina in bed with Orlando. Angel tells Emilio that he has another important thing to do; to believe in Alina’s innocence. Emilio thinks that is hard to do.
Elias and Doctor Love see each other at the work site to reconfirm that tonight they will burn the fields. Orlando walks up as Dr. Love leaves. Elias wants to know if there is something going on between him and Alina. Orlando tells him that it’s a small romance. Elias is exuberant with his praise telling Orlando to protect Alina.
Soledad talks to herself as she looks at the sleeping Loco. She knows that Mariana knows who the letter was for! She unties her ropes and grabs the gun. She looks at the sleeping Loco as she makes her way out of the room. She unfortunately brushes her legs against his as she goes past Loco. Loco wakes up and stares her down. She stares him back down the barrel of the pistol.
Sergio finds Adela packing up a box in the living room. She tells him that the boss fired her. He is ecstatic. He tells her she deserved it for being a traitor. He asks her what does she have in her box; she arrived with nothing, so why is she leaving with this box? Adela tells him she isn’t like him. She isn’t stealing anything. Plus he is the last person she would give an explanation to on what’s inside the box.
Elias rides a horse over to the Rinconada to see Alina. He tells her he has been a little ill, nothing of importance. Gosh these martyrs grow like trees in these stupid hills.
Don Loco taunts Soledad to shoot him. He tells her she isn’t capable. She blabs her usual junk about how she would for her daughter. They struggle for the gun, the gun goes off, and we see how big each of their eyes can get.
Soledad passes out as Don Loco spies’ blood coming from her leg. He tells her she will be alright, it was just a scratch. He kisses her on the mouth. He laments why he can’t leave her. He blames her for his actions like a typical abuser, “Look at what you’ve made me do.” Wha.
Alfonsia is excited to have heard the gun shot. She tells Mariana that “finally the patron has killed his traitor wife.” She looks at Mariana and tells her that he will probably kill her next.
Elias asks Alina about Orlando. He wants to know if she is going to marry him. Alina is short on words. He tells her not to marry if she doesn’t want to and besides he is going to take her out of Sierra Escondida. Alina thought bubbles that she will have to marry Orlando in order to save her mother.
Thelma asks Emilio if he is mad at her. She has only been taking Orlando’s side because she doesn’t want Emilio to make an injustice happen with his best friend over Alina. She coerces him to touch her pillow, their child.
Its night and Rosita is looking for Carmen.
Santos has made his way to the Meson de Edelmiras for a little R and R. He is befriended by Granillo. Granillo tires to ply the young man with alcohol but all Santos wants is water.
Max and Castulo are in Max’s office when Carmen bursts in. She wants to know what Max has done to Santos. He screams for Castulo to get her out. She screams over Castulo telling Max that she “needs to know if you killed Santos! If you did then you committed the worst of sins! Santos is your son!” Max freaks.
Soledad is tied up and in the bed again. Don Loco hovers over like a nervous nurse. He kisses her forehead. As his lips touch her forehead he finds that she has a fever. He worries about the fever but is interrupted by a field worker who has come to tell him his coffee fields are on fire. The fire is going to ruin the harvest! Loco is torn on what to do but he chooses to leave for the burning fields and to leave his burning wife.
Emilio and Alina sit down to have a chat. Emilio tells her he wants to believe in her. She cuts him off telling him that he is instead full of doubt. His doubt disgusts her. She tells Emilio to listen to her, she wants him to go talk with Orlando and obligate him to marry her.
Max screams after Carmen that she is a liar. Carmen shouts that she never thought he would be capable of killing his son. She should have told him but but but. Max repeats “No puede ser!” over and over.
Emilio tells Alina not to tell him she wants to marry Orlando. She tells him to listen but he mumbles on. He is sure now that what Thelma said is true; that Alina wanted to get with Orlando to get out of town. She did it all voluntarily, on purpose!
Don Loco tells Isidrio, a field hand, that the fire was set on purpose. They stay to fight it.
Gaspar whines about wanting to see what’s going on with his son. Luba begs him to not ask about his son again. Does Gaspar want them to kill him? Well, no, Gaspar doesn’t want that but I’m beginning to want that.
Alina begs for Emilio to listen to her. It’s not what he thinks. She hates Orlando, he disgusts her. It’s just that she could be pregnant by him. Emilio’s is impactado.
Elias waits outside for Soledad. Soledad prays to the Virgin to help Elias.
Max tells Castulo that Carmen is a liar. He claims it isn’t true, he didn’t kill Santos, it was Castulo. Castulo admits he killed Santos but only because Max ordered it. They decide to drown their sorrows at the Meson. Castulo worries about the aunt but Max quips he doesn’t want anything to do with that oldy/ viejita.
Santos asks Granillo if he has seen him before. Granillo tells him no.
Alina tells Emilio that the possibility exists that she is pregnant. That’s why she wants to marry Orlando. She is resigned to having a bitter life. The only thing she wants to do is save her mommy.
Thelma tells her Aunt Rebecca that she is too made up. Rebecca doesn’t care. She is excited about her date. She is sure that Max will asks her to marry him to night. Goody! She is as sure as her name is Singing Aunt. Thelma is doubtful.
Emilio finally agrees that things will be how Alina wants them to be. She walks off and he thinks to himself about how is he ever going to live without her? Boo hoo.
Carmen goes back to Braulio’s house. She tells Rosita and Braulio that she told Max that Santos was his son.
Santos gets up and leaves the meson. Castulo sees Santos and says No puede ser! Max asks if he has seen a ghost. Castulo denies seeing a ghost and thinks to himself that Santos is alive.
The Singing Aunt is devastated that Max stood her up. She cries.
Emilio corners Orlando to tell him to marry Alina. Orlando snorts that he will do no such thing. After Emilio walks off Orlando smirks with pleasure that Emilio is dying of jealousy.
Don Loco admits defeat against the fire. Elias wonders where Alina is. Alfonsia decides to leave Marianas room to find out about what is going on.
Alfonsia goes to the room where Soledad is tied up. She sees the gun and grabs it. She points it at Soledad and tells her not to worry she wont shoot her. She will wait for the patron to do it.
The field hands see that the wind is changing. They have saved the harvest! Don Loco promises everyone a good compensation in their salaries for their hard work. The workers cheer for Loco.
Elias creeps into the hacienda. Alfonsia jumps out of a corner brandishing the gun at him. She tells him she knows he is the lover of Soledad.
Alina whines to Tonkey/Donkey this little doggie hasn’t gotten to do anything this show.
Sergio finds Alfonsia, her gun, and her hostage Elias sitting on the living room couch. Sergio throws a punch at the hostage Elias. Don Loco enters the room saying My we have a visitor.
Emilio looks at his sleeping brother worrying how his brother will feel when he finds out that Alina turned his marriage proposal down to marry Orlando.
Elias tells Don Loco that he came for Mariana not Soledad. Loco knows that Doctor Love must not be far behind if Elias is there. He asks Elias so which one of you two set the fields afire?!
Tomorrow Alina tells Orlando that she wants to leave stupid hills. As Orlando’s wife she will be able to leave. Thelma tells Orlando he will be very wealthy if he marries Alina. She is the real daughter of crazy Montellano.
