MEPS - April 28th - Damian Sees $$$, Lili Wants to Die, and Nanda Grows Up (Sort of)
Also, I’m going to be in Mexico for two weeks beginning Tuesday, May 12th through Sunday, May 24th,, so long as my husband’s appointment at the US Consulate on the 15th doesn’t get cancelled because of the Swine Flu – they’ve cancelled all appointments for the week of the 4th. Can someone do my recaps for me on the 12th and the 19th? Thanks for the help.
Capitulo 51
From last night: Gonzo is reminding AB that it’s because of Barbie that Grupo Lactos Intolerance is the most important Mexican company in the world, and that Barbie has Gonzo’s full support. Nanda wants to move out of the Elizalde hacienda after her honeymoon with Damian.
At the Nut House Fr/Ed has come to see Lili. Lili tells him to leave, but Fr/Ed tries to comfort her, he asks what’s happened.
Marg and Jacinto’s Mellow Yellow House Silvestre is coming around. Jacinto explains what happened to him. It’s all coming back to Gepetto now, and he tells them about Jairo looking for Martina. Gepetto asks who Jacinto’s “friend” is that brought him to the house. Jacinto says when the friend shows up, he’ll tell him his name himself.
Damian enters Barbs office. Barb shows him some papers she’s received and wants him to sign saying that in 24 hours all that money will be his – he’ll be a millionaire.
Fr/Ed’s interrogating Dr. Demento about what exactly happened with Lili the night before, and if it was normal that Lili would attack Barb. Dr. D says no, it’s not normal, and Fr/Ed wants to know what could’ve provoked the attack. Dr. D says the only thing that could’ve brought Lili’s reaction on is fear. Fr/Ed knows its fear of Barb.
Dam’s looking over the papers – he’s getting $3 million dollars. Barb says she’s kept her promise - $1 million per year.
Santi , Rory and Dominga are in front of the altar. Dominga kinda looks like Mimi Bobeck from the Drew Carey show. Dominga wants to get the ceremony over with so she can get paid by Santiago. Rory stops the ceremony to talk to Santiago. Ruh Roh.
Barbie tells Dam once he receives the confirmation that the money is in his bank account she wants him to disappear forever. He’s not so sure now. He’s worried about what will happen to Fernanda. Barb asks after all this, he’s now in love with Fernanda? Dam looks uncomfortable.
Rory’s trying to talk Santiago out of the wedding, saying they don’t even know each other. She wants the falling in love, the dream of every girl. Not to be forced into a marriage. He tries to explain that if she wants to find out who her parents are they have to go through with it. She’s torn.
Fr/Ed pressures Dr. D into telling him if Barb is the reason for Lili’s fear. Dr. D stays quiet and Fr/Ed knows that says it all.
Martina is trying to comfort Lili. She’s trying to get her to open up about what happened. Lili’s remembering Barb’s cruel words. Lili begs Martina for help to die.
Dr. D tries to play dumb about Barbie. Martina rushes into Dr. D’s office and says Fr/Ed needs to go talk to her now. The Doc takes a much needed swig off his flask.
Rory tries, but can’t go through with the wedding and walks out of the church.
Damian signs the document for the money. He never thought he’d ever get the money. Barb says she’s thinking about leaving also, but wants him to leave first so nobody suspects anything. They toast to their newfound wealth. Dam says he feels like traveling to Polynesia. She tells him to make the most of his last night with Fernanda. They kiss.
Nanda is telling Gonzo she wants out of the house. Gonzo doesn’t understand why. She explains that it’s healthier for her marriage. Gonzo feels bad. Nanda says she doesn’t want to live with her brothers anymore either – it’s like their eternal adolescents. Gonzo says it hurts him, but he understands.
Lili is rocking back and forth saying she killed her mother and now she’s going to kill her father. Fr/Ed says no, no, and she finally recognizes him as the Rey Blanco. Fr/Ed tells Lili that inside the Rey Blanco he found a piece of paper with a phrase on it and a name, the name was ____________ (I didn’t catch the name), does she know what that means? She goes back to saying she killed her mother and will kill her father.
Back at the church, Rory is telling Santiago that he knows what they’re doing is not correct. She’s not sure she even wants to know the truth about her parents now and walks out. Dominga is pissed off that she’s not getting her payday.
Back at Elizalde Manor, Nanda is telling her Dad it would be a good chance for him to have some time alone with Barb also. She should only know! Father-daughter hug. Gonzo tells Nanda that before she goes, he wants her to help Barb with transferring Lili to the clinic in Berlin.
Martina is comforting Lili. Fr/Ed wants a moment alone with Martina. Martina tells Fr/Ed that she only left Martina for a few minutes when Barb sent her to look for Damian. Martina gives Fr/Ed the exact sequence of events. Fr/Ed figures whatever happened to Lili, happened in those minutes while Martina left Lili alone with La Hyena. Martina feels guilty.
Some creepy looking guy comes looking for Padre Bosco. I think it’s the Indiana Jones guy from the Cantina that came looking for Franco Santoro, but this time he’s in a suit with aviator glasses and looks more like a Secret Service Agent. The woman cleaning tells him Padre Bosco will be back tomorrow. Creepy guy’s phone rings – its Cigarman and he tells Manzanores to wait.
Fr/Ed tells Martina not to leave Lili alone for a minute. She agrees, but then wants to know if Fr/Ed has had time to go see her father, Silvestre. He lies and says her father is fine.
Speaking of Gepetto, he’s asleep and Marg and Jacinto are thinking about how bad Martina is going to feel when she finds out what happened.
Martina is worried her father will never forgive her.
At the GL offices, AB wants to speak with Damian. AB explains the company needs cash. Dam says he’s waiting for instructions. AB says he thought Barb was supposed to be transferring money from their holdings in Chicago, and Dam says she’s spoken with the broker. He says the money will be in by mid-day tomorrow. AB tries to dismiss Dam, but Damn gets one last dig in by congratulating AB on the baby, and says he’s sure it will look exactly like him. LOL
The mother-to-be, Priscila, is thinking about maybe calling Vlad. Nanda shows up in Prisci’s bedroom with a giant teddy bear for her future nephew. Prisci confesses to Nanda that her own mother abandoned her and her brother when they were little for another man. Prisci vows to be a good mother.
Dam is on the phone with Vlad, and now he’s agreeing with everything Vlad says. Dam says he’s going to give Vlad the formula to put the entire Elizalde family at his feet.
Santiago is still trying to convince Rory outside the church. Now he’s trying reverse psychology. He says she’s right, marrying should be for love. But he’s also just realized that he’s in love with her and wants to marry her. She sheds a tear, but says nothing.
Fr/Ed’s come by to see Silvestre. Jacinto explains that it was Jairo that hurt Silvestre. Silvestre comes walking out of the bedroom to see the man that saved him! He thanks Fr/Ed profusely. He asks what his name is, because they have the same blood running through their veins.
Martina is telling Lili about her father and her childhood and about the bracelet her father made for her. She gives Lili the bracelet for good luck. Martina says she knows something happened when she left her alone with Barb, she wants Lili to tell her what happened. Lili says if she’s alive then her father will die.
Silvestre is thinking Fr/Ed looks familiar. But Fr/Ed insists there’s no way and that his name is Franco Santoro. Just then somebody knocks on the door – it’s Jairo!!!!
Previews: Nanda promises Dam that tomorrow will be the beginning of their honeymoon and nothing will stop them.

Mimi from Drew Carye, too funny!
I agree PaulaH, Babs seems to be seeting Damian up. But he can't be going yet! And we finally get the meeting between Babs and Fr/Ed. That will be interesting.
So maybe Damian is going to disappear for a little while? They can't consummate the wedding, but Damian's story can't be over already because he also has ties to Vlad. This one moves so fast it is hard to figure out where it is going. Which is really cool.
And the horses were back at commercial breaks tonight and I think that horse in my pic was in two of the sports!
The less time with Santiago, Dominga and Aurora, the better.
This is indeed a breathless pace! My daughter was in from Harvard (so I would remember what she looks like) so I just glanced at the blog. Looks like some lively discussion: I'll have to check it out on some down time (ha ha). Anywho, I agree, I can't imagine Evilbitch doing anything other than setting Damn up.
And maybe you guys covered this, but when Aurora said she couldn't continue with this farce, did she mean more than marrying a guy she just met? Somehow I think she knew "Rebecca Sanchez" was her mom and senses Barbie is Rebecca?
And good for Nanda. Jeez. I cannot imagine continuing to live in my childhood home after marraige with my adult sibs - yuu-uuck! That dopey smile was so Gonzo-ey when Nanda suggested he and Barbie need some quality time alone. Big dumb Bozo!
Lovin' the no-filler-let's-get-it-on pace.

When I saw Dominga in that outfit and the crooked lipstick all I could think of was Quintina. I thought we had escaped that mess when we left Mexidoom.
The faces Dr. O made were great. That one side of his mouth twitching. Did anyone notice that each time Fr/Ed asked him a question he back slowly into the wall! Twitch, roll, twitch, roll.
Molly, that was the horse I was talking about the other day. Such a beauty. I do think it is the same horse in your picture.
Thanks, too, for telling us that it was Jairo at the door at the very end. I didn't catch the name, and I was hoping the recap would tell me.
And thanks, Susanlynn, for the interesting bit about last names involving a smith. I had no idea that all those names came from the same profession.
Geez, these recaps are not just fun, they're educational! :-)
My DVR cut off the last minutes (forgot to extend the recording time) so I didn't see Jairo. Ack! Another reason I appreciate your recap. I hope someone puts that guy in his place.
Paula H - ITA with you, I do not trust Babs nor anything about that document she had Dam sign.
I'm glad Rory didn't marry Santi last night. His hair was totally disgusting. A better 'do might have swayed her. Does that guy not know about combs or brushes? Hel-lo?!? I guess there will be a double wedding at the Por Fin.
Khalilah - it was your first guess---Rory doesn't want to marry until she is head-over-heels in love with a guy. She wants to do it 'right', much to her credit. Enjoy your daughter's visit! I remember how I cherished our son's visits home from college.
24 hours for Damian to leave? That'll take about 2 weeks to get done. He's starting to burn the bridges right away before even leaving. Now that he is on the way out, going to tell Vlad how to give the Elizaldes a hard time... not that that is a bad thing. ;) ... Good dig at Anibal, yep, gonna look just like him! Oh... But... Yep, Damian's being set up, big time for sure, has to be!
Bad, bad, Fr/Ed. He should have told Martina about her dad. Another lie. But... When he went to Jacinto's, Silvestre got up and walked around... So... Not quite a lie, he is doing ok! :)
Not sure when Lili will get her mind back together again. Still quite scramble, thanks to the Barbinator. At least it didn't take long for Fr/Ed to figure out who caused Lili to go bonkers.
Ol' Secret Agent Man, dresses according to who he is going to see. Hitting the bar, dress like a cowboy. Seeing the Padre, nice suit and dressed up.
Jairo at the door, Fr/Ed has to give him a good talking to!

My heart soared with joy when Jacy saw Jairo at the door. Has all the makings of some fun for us tonight.

I watched the whole episode on youtube before I watched the telecast, so that I could fine tune my comprehension with the CC's. It helped, but it seems a bit too much time devoted to this whole thing...
It looks like Damian has signed on to the dark side. No doubt, Babs is setting him up. Another possiblity is that he has his own plan to get Babs. Not that I could conceiev of a way to do this, but it IS telenovelaland, afterall.
Babs wants to send Lili to Berlin immediately, and disappear Damian at the same time. Hmmm, seems like a lot of turmoil; in a normal family, I doubt that the daughter would be going anywhere when one of the spouses disappears, just too much at once. Of course, Lili isn't going anywhere, except maybe Sanitorio Las Animas.
i sure wish thta the Santi/Rory thing would go somewhere, it's so silly. They can still sleuth regardless their marital status. Maybe the writers are just giving us a morality lesson on the "pure" reason for marriage. I'm wondering how they manage to track down Rebeca Sanchez, and how Barbie reacts to it. I'm with Khalilah- I love the no-filler pace!
I'm bored with Santi and Aurora. Obviously she will provide Babs with backstory but she is so boring. I'd rather see more of the plucky Gardina!
One small thing: Damian told Vlad he had the perfect way for Vlad to have Priscila at his feet, not the whole family. I laughed out loud at the dig Dam gave Anibal. That's what he gets for treating Dam with no respect. I feel sorry for Pris, though. She's a pretty nice person with a sad back story.
Oh no's. If Damian does skip town that will be a final blow for Fernanda. She's just been through too much. I would love to have her for a friend. She's a sweetheart.
Speaking of Padre Bosco, was Secret Agent Man there to do him in or just ask questions? Seems like Artemio wants the Padre dead, but tasked that to Barbi. Secret Agent Man is working directly under Artemio and not Barbi, but is he supposed to do in the Padre?
JeffMN
Can't wait to watch this. The recap and the comments always whet my appetite for this rollicking drama.
When and if Dam imparts some nuggets of wisdom to Vlad regarding Pris, will it do any good? Vlad seems to have a difficult time processing and understanding things, that is on the rare occasions he manages to stop crying.
I appreciate eveyone's comments on Dam. I go back and forth as to exactly how evil he is and where he's going. His expressions are inscrutable - I credit that to Sergio Sendel's excellent acting.
Now Lili wants to die? Please, this is simply too awful. Not even Fr/Ed is getting through to her.
I am looking forward to Fr/Ed doing a number on Jairo tonight. So much for pacifism.
Diana in MA
She is very sweet, and yet has a lot of spunk to. Can't help but want good things for her.
More good vibes your way, Melissa!
--Beth
I don't think Damian will skip out but his deceit will probably be found out. Which of course gives our hero the perfect opportunity to move in, he knows about Dam & Babs affair, I think.
Babs transferred a lot of money to her acct in the islands. Unless she used Damian's computer that can be traced, in the real world anyway.
It looks like Artemio has some doubts about Babs control of the situation, so he has brought in mafia man.
I also thought Dominga stopped by Quintana's to get her makeup done.
Tks Melissa for the great recap & wishing you the best of health.
Thinking ahead, if Damian leaves and Fernanda goes to Franco for support, would Erika go to the dark side?
Carlos, you were hilarious regarding the doctor's little black bag.
Variopinta, you have a point about Dominga getting makeup help from Quintina. Santiago could have used help with his hair, for sure. What I loved about Dominga's wedding look--she had obviously gone to some effort with her hair, makeup, and clothing, yet the results were just as bad as her slatternly look. Now that's what I call quality comic relief.
I'm enjoying Sergio Sendel's toned-down and subtle performance as Damian. Perhaps he won't throw a cell phone, but will squeeze one to death at some point.
La Paloma
Damian presents an outsider's view of the family menage a mess. Including un-wrapped Vlad. But other than ridicule or sympathetic listening his emotions are not deeply lasting. I will not be surprised if he takes the money and leaves Fern.
Sendel is doing an excellent job of being ambiguous. I can't tell from one episode to the next what he's really like. One thing is for sure, he ALWAYS responds physically to Babs. But this may just be the standard TN (Latin American male cliché) representation of nearly every male unable to resist a willing woman. It's way too soon to write Sendel out of the novela. And, he seems to respond favorably to her supposed plans to spend the rest of their lives together. But he also seems to care about Nanda. And, yes, it's absurd that a company that size could have that much cash (Barbie's over 100 million) go missing and no one notice.
Another odd thing was Pris telling Nanda about her mother's desertion for another man. She's her sister-in-law fer cryin' out loud. Wouldn't the Elizalde's know that already?
Since Pris and Anibal have been married 7 years, Pris has to be WAY too old to be Babs' daughter.
Carlos
Alice
Alice/Anon, it is interesting to consider that no one in the Elizalde family has ever questioned that Barbara (Rebecca) showed up with no past at all and apparently not one of them has ever asked her. Granted these are not the most thoughtful or all caring bunch we have ever met in Mexicdoon. Only Santi questioned this strange state of ignorance but only when Aurora showed up and was so curious about Barbara, this woman whom she had such a strange but powerful reaction to. This is all going to be such fun when Barbara figures out who Aurora really is....

I have just found that Time Warner in Kansas City has added Telemundo to it's line-up at Ch 158. There may be other additions to their Latina lineup, I don't know.
After watching Telemundo for 10 years in CA (on Time-Warner there), I'm glad that finally Kansas City has added it.
For people in other areas on Time Warner, you might want to check to see if TW has added Telumundo in your area recently.
Silverfox
Khalilah that was LOL funny!
I had something strange in an MRI a few years ago, and it turned out to be harmless. Hopefully your doctor is just being super-cautious like mine was, and your weird stuff turns out to be something innocuous.
I wonder if the press conference is going to screw up our episode tonight??
JudyB - You're funny - and such a mom! Thanks, you put a big smile on my face! Unfortunately, I have to go to Mexico, my DH and I have been waiting for this appointment with the consulate in Juarez for a long time.
But who knows, they may cancel it anyway with all the swine flu stuff. The consulate is closed until May 8th - our appointment is the 15th.
Julie - That would be great if you could cover for me! Thanks so much! Nobody else has volunteered. Maybe someone will offer to take one night?
