MEPS, Thursday, May 28, 2009, Camilo is a Cat Burglar and Barb Has Got His Back, Cap 73

Please smart reader, post this for me. And, thanks and a shout out to 5ft. Latina who will be doing the third Thursday of the month MEPS recap.

Dominga repeats her threats to Aurora. If you’re not back in an hour, "I’ll come and get you.” Dominga promises that she’ll tell Aurora the name of her mother if she keeps her end of the bargain and then Dominga let’s Aurora leave. How much you want to bet that this is another lost opportunity for Aurora to escape from this witch.

Fer waits for FrEd at the restaurant, and he arrives just in the nick of time. They both order water to drink. She puts it to him straight and asks him why he insists on meeting with her and making business agreements with her. The subject matter is delicate and difficult he tells her because it has to do with a death. This gets her interest, and they begin a game of Table Tango.

Aurora walks through the cantina and is only groped a few times. Jairo grabs her and wants to know why she’s there. Her “grandmother” is staying at the hotel. She gets past him. He orders a bottle and two glasses. He’s going to talk to granny about hiring Aurora. Well, where do you think that will go.

Marg, Jacinto and Denia, the Damned, eat supper. It’s delicious, and Denia is going to make something like this for Ed’s supper tomorrow. She’s in a state of domestic bliss. Jacinto asks her if she delivered Soledad’s things to Ed. She fudges.

Jairo contacts Dominga. Dominga needs money because she doesn’t have the $200 (pesos) for the room. She tries to charm him. Imagine that. It makes my brain and stomach churn and turn. He knows that the way to her heart is a bottle of booze and good company.

Aurora hails the bus and heads for the Elizalde hacienda.

Jacinto hopes Denia delivered what Ed was looking for. Denia repeats to herself that Ed will never get those important papers from Fernanda Elizalde. She has truly turned real bad.

Dinner is served to Franco and Fer. “Who died,” she asks. It’s not just a death, but a case of a disappearing body replies FrEd. This case is really interesting replies FrEd because the man who died was investigating him. Is he fishing, or what. She wants to know if this will this affect their business. No, he says, this guy operated under Camilo’s orders.

Just then a car pulls up to Las Animas when who should appear but Camilo in his best cat burglar outfit equipped with night-vision binoculars. He concludes that Santoro is not there and that there is no movement within the house. He drives the car up a little closer.

Franco assures Fer that he’s not accusing Camilo of anything, but that Camilo is acting on somebody else’s orders. She asks where the body was found, and he tells her the location and that Manzanares represented himself as a policeman, and that he was buried and that his body disappeared. She wants to know how he knows all this.

Camilo is now close to the house and makes a call to report that he is “here”. None other than Barb is on the other end and tells him that Fer and Franco are in the restaurant together. Camilo wants to go into the house or do whatever she says. She says go ahead. Barb must be desperate if she trusts Camilo, a man who can’t even put on his own shoes, to do her detective work. Anyway, by some unknown stroke of divine intervention, Barb shows up at the one and only restaurant in Mexico where Franco and Fer meet for dinner. What, thought bubbles Barb, will Erika think if she knew about this.

Meanwhile Gonzo and Augustin talk business. Gonzo asks about Franco. Augustin isn’t much help. Gonzo thinks that Erika “salio de gano,” which I think means caught a good one.

Err talks to Mama Dolly, or is it Dolly Mama. Mama appears to be sick and admits that she’s expecting. This brings screams from Erika and the maid. Augustin returns with great news about Santoro – he’s ready to marry Erika off. The maid tells Augustin that Dolly has some news and that he should sit down. Good thing I’m sitting down, too. Err tells him that you’re expecting a baby. He says we should be grandparents. She tells him what good shape she’s in. Augie is delighted. Now they can have another party. Three cheers says Augie. I hope this little branch of this complicated story goes away, far away.

Aurora arrives at the Elizalde hacienda. She says she’ll wait for Santiago and sends Tomasa to get him.

Franco tells Fer that he thinks Camilo is not acting on his own. So, are you going to cancel our business. He wants her to help find out about Camilo. Take your pick. Is Camilo acting with someone or on his own? Camilo can’t do anything by himself.

Meanwhile Camilo has brought glass-cutting tools with him and makes a perfect round cut in a big window to gain access to Franco’s place. I couldn’t make a connection between this perfect round glass circle and how Camilo got into the house. Nevertheless the show must go on.

Steve, who is inside working on his computer, hears noise. He remembers that Gardenia has gone to her sister’s house and realizes that something is wrong. Apparently Camilo fell over a table in the dark living room. Nonetheless, he continues his quest with a little flashlight. Steve makes a cell phone call to Ed who tells him he is still at his meeting. Rule out Ed as the intruder. Steve, being a red-blooded American gets our weapon of choice, a baseball bat, and gets ready to practice his swing.

Fer remarks that what her family is going through is terrible. FrEd repeats that Camilo is going behind the family’s back and asks her to trust him.

Santiago embraces Aurora and tells her he looked everywhere for her. He senses that something is wrong. She tells him that she can’t marry him.

Camilo, in his spy act with the flashlight between his teeth, riffles through some papers while Steve sneaks a peek from a doorway. Steve sees the intruder and leaves with a knowing look on his face.

Santiago asks Aurora if she’s joking. No, she says, she can’t marry him. He wants to know what made her change her mind. She tells him she’s in love with another. A boyfriend, he asks. She says, yes. He says this can’t be true. A boyfriend from where. She says she thought he would never return. He wants to know if this is why Dominga turned up. She says, yes. He wants to know where this guy came from. She says we’ve known each other all our lives. He wants to know why she never told him before. She says it’s because she thought he’d never return.

Santi is deeply hurt and is crying when Aurora asks him to try to understand. He asks one question, Does Dominga approve of this guy and do you love him. She says, “yes.” Then go, please says Santiago. She reaches out to touch him, but doesn’t. He cries. In fact, he begins to cry her a river of tears. That’s a line from a song I barely remember. Exit Aurora.

At the restaurant Fer says so it’s not Camilo. She doesn’t think Franco is a complete stranger. He doesn’t want to turn Camilo in. But – he says this is our secret. She says he can count on it. And she touches him and says it has been a pleasure to see you. Barb lurking in the back behind the bushes sees it all as she sips a martini. Maybe there weren’t any bushes, but, you get the idea. Fer leaves.

Steve, with the baseball bat, is walking around the hacienda while Liver Lips Camilo is inside making his way around in the dark with that small flashlight. He opens a door to a bedroom and starts searching the place. He finds some files. Meanwhile Steve is ready to strike. He looks through a window that has been cut, and he sees a car. This would be a good time to flatten the tires. He also finds the binoculars. He finds something that turns out to be car keys and that brings a smile to his lips.

FrEd starts to leave the restaurant and gets a call on his cell. Barb is all about this restaurant scenario.

Camilo keeps opening doors and moving pillows and clothing around. He receives a call – it’s Barb who tells him to leave there immediately.

Back at Jacinto’s Happy House, Jacinto plays guitar, Margarita plays harmonica and that mean girl Denia sings and dances. I just can’t be entertained by her. But for Denia, this would be a terrific trio.

Camilo leaves the same way he came in. Yikes! His car is gone. Steve is just so pleased with himself as he lurks in the bushes and sees the wonderful work he has done. We’re pleased with him, too.

The singing continues at Jacinto’s. We are delighted with this little bit of local color and culture. They compliment themselves, and they are going to continue practicing. Denia, of course wants to serenade Eduardo. Jacinto and Marg discourage her. Denia is lost in her cloud of self deception.

Carpio and friend continue their surveillance of Jairo Roca. They are ready to strike at Jairo with whatever is in the backpack in their car.

Drunk Dominga is with Jairo. He brings up the question of Aurora who has returned. She asks his help in hiring Aurora. Aurora said that Dominga promised her they would return to Purification. Dominga says, yeah, later. Aurora is in a state of disbelief that she’s been sold out. Dominga gets drunker.

Santiago crosses out Aurora’s painting as her words echo in his head. You’ve heard it once, and that was enough. I’m not for you, etc.

Fer arrives home and is greeted by Gonzo. He called Augustin asking for references about Franco. He was told Franco was Error’s boyfriend. Barb just happens to enter at that exact moment. She wants to know why he didn’t call her on her cell if he needed her. That sly Barb asks how her dinner went with Erika and about Franco’s “noviazgo” with Erika. Barb just has another secret to use as bait.

FrEd enters his house and Steve greets him and tells him to prepare for a great surprise.

Fer asks Santi if he knows anything about Aurora. Yes, she came to say goodbye to me because she is in love with another. More tears and crying. Men of the world, do you cry this much?

Aurora continues her argument with Dominga who gives her a good shaking. You are “taimada” (which I just found our means sly or cunning or even lazy). Jairo grabs Aurora. He’s there to collect on Dominga’s agreement with him.

Avances: Barb and Camilo’s plan has backfired. FrEd and Steve have the car. Fer asks about the car.

Good morning. posted it for you. Loved the "table tango". Hated the Aurora-Santiago breakup. And even as a champion of understanding abused gentle folk, it doesn't make sense that Aurora would do that. Ugh and double ugh.

Thanks for another sparkling recap of an increasingly murky story Pasofino.

Great recap Pasofino! I almost fell out of my chair laughing when Esteve took Cadmil-Ho's car! My dog was looking at me funny which made me laugh harder. I know I could hear the rest of you laughing too!

Aurora--I understand the abuse thing also but seriously, would you go back to that nasty, hateful, witch? (And I'm being nice here.) Ok, let's see if I have this right--I have an hour to go breakup with Santi who is SAFE and will PROTECT me in a SAFE location but no, I promised the Hag I would be back in an hour--What?--stamp me stoopid! Of course I would go back. NOT. It seems to me that Pimp Daddy Jairo has other plans for our young Abora (dumbass). I'm about to grab her by the hair myself.

Gardenia--sick of her already.

JudyB: Thank you very much.

Connie: Double sick of Gardenia, too.

Eh, regarding what I said yesterday about getting involved in altercations, obviously you need to be very very careful about it, because sometimes the good Samaritan gets hurt. :(

But since there were other people around, I think it would have been safe, and it wouldn't hurt to call the police.

Steve's back in my good graces again. He handled the situation much better than I would have. ;-) But I hope he changes is mind about giving false hope to Erika. And I hope that Eduardo has a frank talk with her about her prospects.

Pasofino, regarding the glass-cutting done by Camilo, he cut the round piece of glass, removed it and then reached inside the glass door to open it. I know Esteve pulled off quite a coup by hiding Cad's car but weren't we all hoping he would take a swing at Cad with the bat?

OK, Viewerville, all together now, "Aurora, how can you be so dumb???"

Thanks, Pasofino, for another fine recap. This TN never disappoints, every episodio has action!

Pasofino, brilliant, witty. Thanks. OK, you Esteve doubters, rethinking today? I was hoping for at least a bloop single out of that bat(by the way he bats right-handed), but confiscating the car was golden.

Gardenia's singing and stage presence almost made up for her ethical lapses. And could Dominga get anymore precious? She is truly a charmer.

Carlos

Carlos, now the question is what are they going to do with it? Hmmmmmm.....could be interesting.

Aurora is a good example of the psychological concept of "learned helplessness" where a person or (animal)that has been conditioned to believe their situation is hopeless will not try to escape even when given that opportunity. Hard to watch it acted out like this.

Would be great if the writers are setting it up that Aurora finally fights back with tooth and nails with a major smackdown of Dominga.

I truly hope that happens but it is just so painful to watch. A person doesn't have to be that helpless. I know, I know, adjust the beanie!

At first I thought that Camillo may have found his calling, but then it sounded like he injured himself climbing through the window, and to cap it off he lost his car. I'm beginning to think it's close to a three-way tie for most unintentionally amusing between Dr.O, Dominga, and Camillo with Jairo and Lucio tied for fourth place.

Carlos

Great, succint recap, Paso. A slightly better episode than wednesday"s.

I, for another, do not get Aurora. I understand the psycho-lingo, and that Dominga is the key (or the stick with the carrot) as to learning her mama's ID, but STILL- she's leaving the comfort, acceptance, love, and wealth that Santi offers her, and she loves him, to return to sthe squallid hell that Dominga has. I call B.S.. I could easily see someone like Santi crying like that- his first love that reciprocated, he's been so wrapped up in it, and as we know, he's very senstive. Her news absolutely crushed him... I think that Carpio and sidekick are going to break up the little party that Jairo has in mind with Aurora, and so save her unintentionally. He must have forgotten that the boyz were waiting to continue their discussion, or maybe he trusts that they will just leave when the bartender sez that he's not there. Yeah, right.

Loved that Esteve played valet and parked Gonzo's car in the secure lot, instaed of beaning Cad. He deserves an even worse demise. It also sets up an inferred involvment of Gonzo.

Denia, Denia, come back to the bright side. Then I can fully appreciate your singing and dancing. Above all- NO SERENATA!

Tonites episode should be fun...

I so much enjoyed Esteve's auto theft. LOL (past tense). I wonder if he can come up ways to tant Barb? He could drive her INSAne.
I'm not at all worried that Ahh-rora will be raped. Those goons outside will probably choose the moment to go in and deal with Jairo the Pimp.

Thanks for the recap Pasofino..as for feeling sorry for Aurora....well, i don't..... No one takes that kind of abuse and then goes back for more....na na na......apparently they are showing the complete downfall of the entire ezalde family....one family member at a time.....Santi's is boring so is Anyballs and we have yet to see cadmilos... I think Denia is going to be captured by Artie's goons and will regret her mouth....
I was laughing so hard with the cat burgler routine by cadmilo and his neon shoes....too funny....and then the car disapearing even funnier.....the car is Gonzalo's so how will he explain it's being missing?.... i would of thought Fr/Ed would of mentioned Artemio Bravo's name to Fer at dinner or should i say water...they ate no dinner and it was a very short date....but he did not,hummmmm...

DDave, the secure lot, that's a good one. Maybe little sister will have to retrieve his wheels. Oh, the humiliation. Let's now see Barbi make good on her promise to take the heat.

Carlos

Thanks, Pasofino. I, too, find it hard to watch Aurora walk right back to her abuser. When Santi wielded that paintbrush of black paint , I had a Crabiella flashback . Remember all her late night bad art workshops ? I guess that baseball bat that Esteve was wielding goes along with the baseball he used to toss around whenever we saw him in the U.S. of A. talking on the phone with Fr'ed. Real Americans always travel with baseball bats just in case any trouble arises. I was hoping that Esteve would bean Cad , but stealing the car was great. Now, Esteve and Fr'ed should cruise around town in Cad's car. What could Cad say, ''Hey, that's the car I drove over to your place when I broke in to snoop around.'' HA. For a moment, I thought that Cad was going to take the black bag containing Fern'a love letters. [Highlander fans: The scene of Cad breaking and entering reminded me of the first episode i=of Highlaner [''The Gathering'' ] in which Richie breaks into Duncan's studio,] Finally, Fr'ed does look super fine in the black suit, white deress shirt, and pink tie. Nothing like a guy in a great suit. What is up with Fern's dress? ..That big bow in the back? Do the wardrobe people hate Sylvia? I don't care how gorgeous and svelte you are, unless you're under the age of 12 , no one wants a big bow on her butt.

Thanks for the recap -- very well done!

Yes, Aurora is a classic case of telenovela bad judgment. Still I was pleading: say it isn't so. Gosh Dominga is awful.

Esteve continues to grow on me. He resembles a very smart elf.

Why were Gardenia and family singing? Please tell me it isn't a case of them taking the show on the road to make up for Jacinto's recent loss of work at the Elizalde's (I know he's still on with Franco). This would be a la FELS, though one of those guys had some talent. Gardenia is pretty and does have presence but apart from the ethics issues, she needs to turn it down several notches. IMHO

Good show last night. Tonight's promises to be good as well.

Pasofino - thanks for the great recap!

And thank you 5 ft Latina for offering to sub. I enjoyed your 'caps on Guapos, including the one where Mr. 5 ft Latina filled in. (grin) His recap was as funny as yours.

Too bad Esteve didn’t whack Camilo with that bat. I was majorly disappointed. Stealing that nice car (BMW?) was a good non-violent move.

If the goons take Gardenia, I anticipate "The Ransom of Red Chief", reincarnated.

Rolled my eyes at the DollyMama’s brief PSA about omegas & vitamins being why her body is 10 years younger than her true age. Gimmeabreak.

FFWD---> the Aurora/Santi scenes & then the breakup. I overdosed on that stuff in FELS and can't do it so soon afterward.

Traveling lady - I figured Jacinto & Co. don't have TV and had to pass the evening the old-fashioned way. Reception might be bad and maybe they can't afford cable or satellite?
;-)

Camilo was searching Gardenia's room when Babs called him and told him to get out. If he had found the letters, it would have brought Camilo and Babs too close to finding out the truth about Ed. I knew her move to hide those letters was not only stupid and malicious, but also dangerous to Ed. All his other personal items are now locked up in the safe.

-Vivi in DC

I was unable to sit still during any Aurora scene last night, I can't stand her. She is so stupid to believe that Dominga will ever tell her anything. She has all the evidence she needs to know the truth - someone is paying Dominga to keep her under wraps. She saw the guy already, she and Santiago could easily crack the case without Dominga's help. So, then, she's going back so Los Elizalde won't find out she's an orphan? WTF? It's all so stupid it makes me crazy. She has been such a wet blanket and a downer ever since she showed up, I don't care how good she looks in her underwear (very good, but Santiago doesn't know that yet, he didn't see what we saw), she is just a huge pain in the butt. Santiago should wait and console Erika after she eventually gets brushed off by Eduardo/Franco (I'm assuming this will happen).

Susanlynn - I also have to agree with Fernanda's wardrobe. As the show has gone on, I have found her to be more and more hot but they don't take advantage of it at all.

Thanks for the recap, Pasofino, fun to read, great observations.

Although Gardenia is doing everything wrong, this isn't anything new for her, she's been a troublemaker since day one, but every time I see her pretty face (especially when she's thinking to herself), I forgive her.

I liked the singing in the farmhouse scene, sort of like the Mexican version of bluegrass sessions, where the whole family gets together to belt out old favorites. Jacinto was actually playing the guitar (passably), and they were really singing, although I wasn't convinced whether the harmonica was dubbed or not. I doubt they can take this show on the road, but I give them credit for having the guts to perform, since they seem to be more actors than singers.

Pasofino, thanks for another great recap.
Dolly's commercial for the power of omega and antioxidants?? What the...?? Anti-aging, maybe. Middle-aged pregnancy, not so much.

DoradoDave, squalid hell is an excellent term for any place we can find Dominga. You know the wardrobe crew is laughing every time they plan her costume.
And speaking of wardrobe, how about some better clothes for Fernanda?

Cheers to eSteve for restraining himself, using the car keys instead of the Louisville slugger. I so much wanted him to take a swing at Camilo, but he chose the better way (secure parking--heh!)

If Abora thinks life is tough with Dominga, just wait until Jairo has her in his power. Or until Artemio's thugs have her in their power. Or whatever drama/danger is next in line for her.
La Paloma

Pasofino, thank you for the excellent recap of an interesting episode. One of the many great lines was about the unlovely Dominga: "She tries to charm him. Imagine that. It makes my brain and stomach churn and turn." Perfect!

Carlos, I relinquish my one day stand as an "Esteve doubter". I was never happier to be proven wrong. As penance, I will take a small piece of humble pie.

Either Gardenia did a masterful job of hiding those letters or Cad is a lousy snoop. I vote for the latter.

Glad Erika is celebrating while she can. The anvil isn't far away...

Diana in MA

Why has it never occurred to Aurora to get a job, any kind of job, rather than bounce between the two options of Dominga or Santi? She is not a child and does not have to have someone take care of her. Her character is insipid.

Were they trying to point out that Erika's mother is as silly and delusional as she is, and Papi too?

J.

Great recap, Pasofino!

The excuse Jairo used, after he clapped eyes on Aurora, for wanting more money from Dominga was that there were now two people in a sencilla or single room.

Either you gotta believe every Mexican household has a baseball bat in the closet or they have crappy airport security and Esteve smuggled it in!

I have a feeling Dolly is in denial about menopause as opposed to expecting a visit from the cigüeña.

I'd like to think handing her off to Jairo or one of Jairo's customers would finally convince Aurora to part company with Dominga. But, I doubt it. So she was orphaned and doesn't know who her parents are! BFD!! Let the Elizaldes find out and see what happens. Santi already knows everything. Stupid masochistic plot thread.

Pasofino..gracias! I fell asleep but sounds like the best part was CadmilHO's case of bad carma.

Side note to Carlos re: my fantasy punishment of Dom & Cad & something nasty. Total spoof. I live for ridiculous plot lines.

happy Friday!!

Maggarita
;-)

I have a hard time staying mad at Gardenia too, she's just so attractive and has somewhat understandable motives (even though she is delusional), but Aurora grrr I hope something happens there soon because that whole thing is driving me nuts.

Oh, and Dolly is preggers?? Yes, please kill that deadend storyline. Errorika is annoying and her parents aren't all that interesting either.

I guess that means we have a potential baby swap to look forward to. Pris better put a bar code on her kid.

Maggarita
:-P

Pasofino, Thanks so much for the recap. Great job, you get funnier every week.

I am on the UGH team of hating the scenes with either Aurora or Dominga. A necessary evil to fill the plot, I guess, but the abuse/violence is upsetting. I watched parts a second time from a tape when I returned from the El Grupo convivio (potluck) and absolutely had to FF through every scene with Aurora. I couldn't watch Santi's heartbreak again either. I am a Santi fan since he is the only family member who truly supports Fernanda and tells the truth even though he is a bit overly emotional. Aurora is stupid, stupid and I fear she will pay in really ugly ways.

Go Esteve, you had the only highlight of the evening although just one good whack on Cam's incompetent head would have done me a world of good in recovering from the Dom/Aur scenes. I find Jairo scuzzy too, you can almost smell the sour cowardice through the tv, yuk. But what a moment of glee for Esteve to hide the car after Cam was so proud that he had been the coolest of cat burglars. If he had come to after the knockout from a bat swing to find the car also gone, I would have roared and cheered.

Doris...loved your DollyMama crack. Sure hope no Buddhists were offended. Too funny.

As for you doubters, please! I had my surprise package at 40 and my grandmothers and great grandmothers all kept "producing" up to age 45. And I presume Ericka's perky annoying mom is about that age. Happened regularly in the old days before we got savvier about birth control. (clearly, I NEVER figured it out)

Forgot to mention that I liked the ho-down so to speak with the family music fest to help us forget our deep disappointment in the traitorous Gardenia. She does bounce her curls and her other lovely assets in such a pleasing way and those almost remoreseful eye battings everytime the boxes from Soledad' s is mentioned make us think she might have a brain, she might have a sense of morals, she might come to her senses, but I am not going to hold my breath, Gardenia you are dead and dissed to me.

Also found it hilarious that catburglar spent more time pawing through Gardenia's sexy wardrobe and shoes and touched but did not open the black bag that must have felt like it had paperwork in it, but NO, our CamHo couldn't figure that one out.

Thank you Pasofino! Haven't read the comments yet but apparently Dolly Mama (HAAA HHAA HEEE HEEE!)story line is leading to some debate. Besides the older mama drama stories in the newspaper, in real life my Granmama was 39 when she had her last the same year my Mama had her first and my hubby's Mama was in her 40s when he surprised them and the "knee baby" was 17! So, I have no beef with the reality of Dolly being knocked up, it's just whhhhhyyyyy? What the devil does this have to do with anything???

Tengo miedo!! This baby is going to be a time-filling-plot-torturing-novela-stretching NIGHTMARE AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!! Maybe Aurora will get knocked up by one of her "clients" and Dominga will switch the baby with Dolly's but it will be fine because Aurora's baby will have inherited her grandmother's hellish genes and. . . . .

Khalilah

Oh yah, Maggarita, forgot about Prissy's baby! That would be the more likely candidate for a switch. And after reading comments I see y'all done had it with Aurora. Told ya she was going to do something that would not make her worthy of Santi's love: so far it's just stupidity. I'm not for anyone EVER being raped so I hope that doesn't happen but this little boyfriend lie (which he WILL find out is a lie) should be enough to warn Santi off this masochistic chick. Keep your word to an alcoholic psychopath who has abused you since birth? Nah, Aurora is doomed, she is the Acacia of this story.

Loved the stoopid look on Cad's face when he had to walk back to Hacienda Hellizalde! Big Dummy! I love it!

Khalilah

Just thought of a twist, it should have been obvious. Aurora has seen Carpio, and vica versa. If he does intervene while looking for Jairo, what's he gonna do? He knows that she is important somehow, because she was following him. That will be interesting. as for Rory's character being so feeble- she can only improve, and I'm sure/hopeful that that is what the writers do with her.
The stupid "pregnancy". I had the same thougt- menopause. What possible plot gimmick could either pregancy or menopause have here. Maybe taking care of a baby sibling will give the delusional, annoying Errorika something to do...

Funny recap as always, Pasofino. Thanks so much.

Now a question: Did Fr/Ed tell Fern that a dead body appeared and then disappeared on her property? If I were she, I would be a little concerned about that.

Yes, ha ha, it must have been "divine intervention for Barb to find the one restaurant in Mexico where Fr/Ed and Fern meet for dinner." Or Barb could have super powers of ESP or she followed Ed from Las Animas to the restaurant undetected since Fr/Ed is pretty much oblivious to everything lately. Thank goodness for the fast thinking Esteve. Anyway, this was never developed, so I guess we have to fill in our own details as to how Barb just happened to be sitting at the bar watching the happy couple.

Abora is not only a drag she was incredibly cruel to tell poor Santi she was leaving him for another guy and break his heart. What about her virtuous inability to tell a lie....she just told a whopper. GinCA

Short of Denia being an ax murderer, I think the guys here will cut her slack till the end. Haa haa....just kidding. GinCA

Shhhhh JudyB, don't let my boyfriend hear you. He wants me to have a baby and I'm 48! Yikes.

Anonymous 2:22, Barb did tell someone (Cad?) on the phone last night that she had followed Fr/Ed to the restaurant.

MEPS in AZ

Maggarita, you just keep coming up with the zingers. A bar code for Pris' kid, excellent. Actually should be required for all TN babies. As for yesterday's gem, just sit back, close your eyes and picture what you proposed...yeah, I thought so.

Carlos

GinCA - you aren't wrong. Gardenia just has the right combination of sweet and sexy to make us weak men blind to most other faults. Kind of like how Fr/Ed is being forgiven (daily) by the ladies for implementing the lamest, stupidest, most ridiculous, ill thought out, blowing up in his face, 'revenge' plot of all time.

MEPS in AZ: thanks for clearing up the glass cutting scene/

Carlos and Connie: Right. Whatdo they do with the car now? Hope we find out tonight.

Carlos: The Four Degenerates, Camilo,Dominga, Lucio and Jairo, should form a travelling quartet. There may be hope for Dr. O. I don't think he can sing anyway.

Dave: Me, too, on Aurora. She finds someone who loves her, who is rich and talented and whohashelped her in her quest to find her mother. She goes back to a lying, cheating,no good double-dealing (like the song) drunk who really has no eson or need to know the name of her mother anyway.

Bonney Churros: If Steve and Ed weren't Harvard boys, they probably would drive around the car. But, you know, they just can't b ecause of the b ig "H."

Susanlynn: Finding a baseball bat at Las Animas was just another beanie moment.

What surprised me about Gardenia's really big lie was the dry-eyed immediate way in which she told that whopper. This was the same sweet unworldly innocent that came up with a false name for her mother and then fell apart because of lying?
She could redeem herself by kneeing Jairo and stepping over Dominga's body on the way out.

Doris and Trav. Lady: right, probably no TV.

Ferro94: Wet blnket. Why didn't I think of that.

Diana in MA: I, too, hadmy doubts ab out Steve.

Novelera: Thanks for letting us know about the sencillera that has now becoming a doblera. Is that a real word?

Cheryl: I think I can blame my lack of sympathy for Santi on my inability to elieve he's around 20 years old or thereabouts.

Margarita: Bar code the baby - great idea.

Dios mío

Not only is Aurora, "la llorana"a bore but estupida. She knows who her mother is, with Santiago's help, but I doubt Dominga knows where she is. She would have a better chance with Santiago finding her. That's with overlooking the fact that she lives in his house.

I was enjoying Esteve taking Camilo's car as much as he was.

A cat burglar all dressed in black, including hood, with WHITE shoes, huh?

Tks mucho for the recap. The avances were not pretty, where Gardenia is concerned.

Someone had a question as to where Gardenia hide the box of Fernanda's letters. I was wondering the same thing, but they must be in her room at Jacinto's because Camilo would have found them. I was wondering if finding them was part of the plot, but I guess not.

Judy, you reminded me of a pt. I had many years ago who had 3 grown children whose daughter was pregnant at the time who suddenly noticed some had been missing from the previous 2 mos. She was 46 yrs old and thought that menopause had settled comfortably in. Well no,turned out the stork had put her on his schedule. She cried, complained, pouted, and even considered abortion for about 30 seconds. It was in the days before ultrasound so in the fullness of time on the appointed day we got together in L&D where we welcomed not one but two little income tax deductions. When the shock wore off she was absolutely delighted we both her little boy and little girl. I think I might have been as happy and proud as the parents. Then guess what she decided to do not long after that.

Carlos

Carlos: yes, the mental image is beyond disgusting but just think how fitting a punishment it would be for Cad who not only likes to peep but slug and force his charms on his favorite women. Hence the celibacy for time immemorial. One night of sweet lovin' from Dominga (the female version of Ernest Borgnine on a 7 day drunkfest) and that would take care of our little orange horn dog.

Maggarita
:-D

p.s. Yes, I think it's fair that our male viewers be allowed to forgive Denia (I keep wanting to call her Double D) for all of her transgressions since we are willing to absolve Fr/Ed of most sins...except that damn striped sweater.

Variopinta, The letters from Fernanda were in the black gym bag in Gardenia's closet which was at Las Animas. That answered my question from yesterday about whether she stayed at Las Animas or at Jacinto and Margarita's place.

Vario- the letters are in the black bag that the new gumshoes, Cad actually picked up in the closet, just as Babs called him to tell him to skeedadle. At las Animas.
Another thought about Abora- she already knows her mama's name. That is probably all that Dominga knows, i can't see Ciggy telling her the whole story- "just take this kid, a check every month, and don't ask any questions."

MEPS- I thought that Babs told Cad, at the hacienda that she was going to keep her eye on Eddy while he rifled thru the house. She could not have had any idea where Eddy was, she just happened to be enjoying a martini away from Gonzo when Fer and then Eddy walked in. I think that it was just asmall glitch in the writing/directing/continuity/editing that we all love so much. Just adjust your beanie to the right...

Hi everyone. Great recap and good stuff last night!

I was wondering how Babs showed up at the right restaurant also, but I think she said to Camilo on the phone that she had followed Ed from Las Animas to the restaurant.

Aurora - ugghh! Do you realize this is the SECOND time she has left Santiago to return to Dominga? She's too stupid for words. And I hated what she did to Santiago.

Steve was great - how about him singing show tunes to himself while working on the computer? I only wish he had taken the car key and left the car there - then they could have called Gonzalo to ask what the heck is going on here? But of course, then Camilo's jig would be up too quickly.

Dominga (the female version of Ernest Borgnine on a 7 day drunkfest)

Yes! Yes! That's it!!!Maggarita! HAHAHHAHHAHHHA HAHHAAAA!

Khalilah

I wonder if we are supposed to all be getting so negative on Aurora, maybe she won't make it to the happy gran final and this way we won't be so upset about it?

Thanks for a great recap, Pasofino. You said it: Dominga was making my stomach churn and turn. Ack, She goes from a comical caricature to a disgusting drunken abuser in 2 seconds flat.

My Comadre Cheryl said it all for me. A bump on the head AND a missing car would've been perfect for Cadmil-ho.

Also, I noticed Margarite seemed to catch that Denia was fudging around her answers. She knows something is up...
jb

Fernanda's outfits --- It's in the Telenovela Rules that she dress tacky. (or would that be tackily?) Rules posted at T-W by Ruby, five years ago, say: The protagonista always gets her clothes at Goodwill or the Salvation Army. When she dresses up, she will go to Target, Wal-Mart, or some comparable budget shop.Since our MEPS protagonista is actually wealthy, she has to dress dowdy or dorky---the rich girl's version of Goodwill. Her wardrobe will not get better until, maybe, at the end.

Novelera – esteve’s baseball bat was probably checked in his steamer trunk luggage. I thought the whole NYYankees hat, et al, were a little hokey, though. Que Americano!

Oy vey, Carlos. Twins would be tough! at any age. I had twins for four days when a friend of mine was in the hospital and I had to nurse both her baby (one month old) and mine (7 month old). I understand now why in some Indian villages, if a woman bore twins, she gave one away to another family!

I didn't get myself fixed after that, (per your patient) but my husband never again believed me when I said I thought it was a "safe time of the month".

Connie, if your beau wants to have children, march him up to the altar first. Just sayin'. These little ones get expensive.

As evil and disgusting as Dominga is, Doesn't she have an infectious smile? I remember the actress from other shows. Didn't she play a real sweety in Distilando Amor?

Carlos

I think they did eat some light meal at the resturant but the only thing I saw Barb have all evening was martini(s). Maybe she was filling up with envy?

Hmmmm, Ferro. Though I could slap the crap outa her, I don't want her to die but does anyone know, is it a TN rule that people have to die? If so, Ferro, I think you could be right about Gardamn-ya and Aurora and Babs are gonna be in that number.

Khalilah

Si, Si , Judyb~~~In the past, many women were surprised by late-in-left babes. My mother's mother was pregenant with her at the same time my mother's older sister [20 years older] was pregnant. This led to a confusing family tree. My motrher's sister had 5 kids who were more like brothers and sisters to her than aunts and uncles. Therefore, I spent my life calling these folks ''Aunt'' and ''Uncle'' even thought they were really my cousins. My father was raised by his maternal grandmother who had remarried and had 2 sons who wwre younger than my dad [their uncle]. Now, women are sometimes having babies late in life because they are focusing on their careers first. Anyhoo, I don't know what purpose Dolly's pregnancy serves for the storyline. Who cares ? Error's reaction was again that of a flaky teen,,,an excited little dance and a yelp. That is starting to annoy me.

Late-in-left ?????...Make that ''late-in-life''---I really have got to type slower and proofread my posts.~~~Susanlynn, the careless

Carlos~~~What-a-guy ! You look for the best in everyone. Congratulations for finding something positive about the much maligned Dominga !

Ah kind-hearted Carlos....
Dominga DOES have a sweet smile. And the actress usually plays humble downtrodden servants (Heridas) or self-sacrificing mothers (any episode of that 12 noon Mujer program) and yes, she was the loving, humble mother of some scumbag in Destilando who died in a car crash (and most deservedly so)...yikes, not a very Christian thought. Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

Anyway, it's great fun to see her really getting her yellow crusty teeth in this role. She's chewing up the scenery big-time.

Judy, I'm afraid that you didn't quite understand. There was no tubal ligation. She decided that it was all so wonderful that she would do it AGAIN...and did!. She wanted twins, but only one the next time. Her grown children were chagrined.

Carlos

Maggarita, once you've been with Dominga...well, I guess things would never be the same with anyone else. I understand.

Carlos

Tks Connie & Dorado for clearing the letters up for me. I thought that room looked a bit too nice for the campesinos. Fr/Ed will surely find them there. I think that's where the safe is too.

I would have gone Fernando Escandon on Camilo and killed him or at least hurt him so bad if I was Steve. He has every right to do that since Camilo was trespassing. Hiding the car was mischievous but I really would have preferred to teach him a lesson.... Perhaps a curbing would be nice for him.

I play a lot of sports but not Baseball or softball yet I have 3 baseball bats in the house along with a few machetes and bolos for protection. Used to have a gun at the firing range but no more.

A lot of Mexicans play baseball too. Not just playing soccer or boxing in a ring. So it is not strange that the house happens to have a baeball bat. Now if they said that Steve specifically brought the bat from the states, then i would be scratching my head.

Ibarramedia

Dios mio Carlos! No I never imagined. That's what happens when women don't work outside the home. They look for more work inside!

Actually, I have to admit, when the gal across the street had another baby when my Julie was 3, I thought, oooooh, another one would be so nice. And four is a nice round number besides.

But as I said, my husband wasn't buyin' it. Not for one single moment!

Hi, Judyb~~~I have a Julie, too!!!! My hub was happy to stop at #2, but I cried when Julie went off to kindergarten. When I was 16, I told my beau that I wanted to have 7 kids when I grew up. I thought that he'd be charmed by my maternal instinct. His Answer : I hope you find a rich guy. Well, Dollymama has the rich guy, so she's good to go.

That's all that is stopping me and my wife from having more - how to pay for it and where to put them! We have a boy and a girl, each has their own room that really isn't big enough to share with anyone else without being horribly uncomfortable.

Accountants....You and hub are both accountants. Hub was always looking at the bottom line, and he figured sending two to college would be hard enough.

Yeah there's that too. I keep trying to convince my son to take up a sport now at age 9 so he'll be good enough to get a scholarship when he's older. Doesn't have to be a superstar, just enough to go to college for free. We'll see if anything sticks for him.

The reason I was thinking Dolly was menopausal instead of pregnant is that they made sort of a big deal early on about her being one of these childish woman who doesn't want to age. She was VERY flirty with Cadmilo. She's presented as being very superficial, insisting on being called Dolly instead of Dolores.

Last night she burbled on about taking anti-oxidents and keeping young.

So I just thought the TN writers might want to make the joke be on her for so much carrying on about being pregnant when it was really menopause. On the other hand, she was feeling nauseous. Who knows?

Babs said she would take responsibility if anything went wrong with the break in. Anyone believe that one? S/b interesting how she & Camilo handle this.

Ferro~~~My kids got merit scholarships , but there are many more athletic scholarships. Our friends' son got a full scholarship to George Washington Univ. to play baseball. I think that even his books were covered, so keep on encouraging sports. He decided on college even though baseball scouts wanted him. His cousin plays for the Mets.

I'd love merit scholarships too, of course, but I figure better safe than sorry, I'd rather have too many options! I had to borrow my way through school so it's always on my mind how to avoid that.

Ferro~~Now when your kids are young is exactly the time to start thinking about these things. Good for you. It also helps to get friendly with the guidance counselors once your kids are in high school. Hub had 2 scholarship offers, one for baseball and one for wrestling, but he ended up taking neither because our terrible counselor informed him that he couldn't take them because he was in the business track ,not in the academic track. Don't forget to encourage your daughter, too. Hub umpired girls' college softball and some of those girls were in college on scholarships. He umpired some of the girls who played in the Olympics.

JudyB he's been trying to get me to the alter for the last 5 years!

The family songfest. Actually the Gardenia actress can sing well (though you wouldn't guess it from the songfest). When she was reading Fernanda's letters, the background music was her voice. I think Margarita was not actually playing harmonica.

I loved how Steve sang. It was "There's No Business Like Show Business" but he got the lines mixed up. Admit it, who doesn't do that when you are mindlessly singing something to yourself? The imperfection made it seem more real.

I liked the idea about taking the car and leaving the keys. What I would love to see is that Steve puts the car into neutral and gives it a push down a gentle slope into a convenient pond. Just enough to submerge the engine. Hidden in the barn, Cad can accuse Jacinto of stealing the car from Cad in town, and hiding it at Las Animas. But instead if it's stuck in mud with a muddied engine, he'll have a whole lot of explaining to do, and he'll look like an idiot for not setting the brake.

Oh my Connie. Well, can't fault him for that. But if you're feeling "once burned, twice shy" then it's best to hold off.

I still remember my older daughter looking at me one day, saying "MOM, WHEN JULIE IS TEN, YOU'LL BE FIFTY!!!) And sure enough I was.

And Susanlynn...well, of course we both have Julie's. We were "separated at birth" , remember?

But dang, somehow you ended up a lot younger than I am.

Ferro94 - My advice to you is start the college fund now, while the kids are young. Bite the bullet, dump as much as you can into it, and let it grow over the years. That's what we did for our son. When he was in high school we finally told him about the fund. We also told him that if he got any scholarships, then the amount of money left over would be his. He was not impressed until we explained it would be enough money to buy a Porsche. (LOL) Without us even knowing it, that kid promptly applied for and got the rest of his tuition paid via scholarship, (in addition to an academic one the university gave-that we were not expecting) without us prodding him once. And he got what was left in the fund, too. He's always been pretty good with money; he makes Jack Benny look like a spend-a-holic. ;-)

Gracias for the shout-out, Paso :) I'm looking forward to it.

I agree with the posters who think it's menopause and not pregnancy. That's what she gets for making the big announcement before going to the doc to check!

I do also have a friend whose wife went through the whole pregnancy without realizing it until she was in labor. She'd had 5 (or was it 6?) already and thought she was going into menopause. He had also been fixed (ha, ha, even that's not 100% foolproof, boys!) so she came up with some other "rational" explanation for every other symptom. Nature has a sense of humor.

Five Foot Latina, indeed! Carlos

Kat/5ft. Latina: Welcome back. We look forward to your comments along with those of Mr. 5ft.

There were four Julies in my Spanish class! I don't think there were any other Julies in the entire class of 198(mumblemumble).

Susanlynn - Camilo is no Richie Ryan! LOL! But I did wonder if Esteve was going to knock his block off with that bat!

I'm glad others enjoyed Steve's solo singing performance as much as I did. He really botched those lyrics up good. I think he mixed up "No Business Like Show Business" with "Short People" and "People Who Need People." :-)

Yay, 5 ft. Latina!! (She recapped some of LFMB, back in the day!!)

Can you tell I'm just now catching up on all of today's comments... damn, you people are funny.

An observation:

Artemio's tactics have now negatively impacted five Elizalde family members big-time.

1) Mommy dearest killed by Babs.
2) Gonzo loses wife (although, mysteriously, Artemio gives him a wife that apparently makes him happy for 15 years.)
3) Lili forced to live in manicomio and under drugs for 15 years.
4) Fernanda marries a swindler provided by Artemio's henchwoman Babs, and suffers loss of Soledad and Eduardo.
5) and now Santiago has the love of his life taken away by Artemio's henchwoman Dominga.

That doesn't take into account the money that Babs stole the company - if one considers the "company" as a separate family member.

That just leaves Camilo and Anibal as apparently untouched by His Evilness.

So, two more domino's and one would think he'd be done, no?? I think NOT.

Silverfox

So true, Silverfox. His evil spreads, of course, beyond the Elizalde family. What a twisted, tortured, eeeevil, pervert he is with his gigantic, satanic porn wall hanging.

What is the deal with the birth certificate: did anyone figure out if it was his b.c. or if he was named as the father? Some one probably already proposed this, so don't want to rip off credit: Would it make any sense if maybe Ciggie and Gonzo's Dad named the first one to have a son as inheriting his fortune and Anyballs is really Ciggie's son and the birth cirtificate proves it but Monsterat hid it, married Gonzo and let Gonz think Anyballs was his? (Sorry, terrible run on sentence)

It's gotta be money cause Ciggie's got a serious stick up his ass!

Khalilah

Khalilah - I don't think that theory has been proposed, but I like it. It is definitely possible in telenovelaland.

What birth certificate?

Silverfox and Khalilha: I like that theory, too, and haven't seen it before.

But, it seems to me that AnyBalls is so miserable and corrupt that he doesn't need an outsider to ruin his life. Ditto Camilo.

BTW: This episode has not been posted, so, if anyone knows how to do it, please, please help.

Pasofino...not sure what's wrong. My computer shows it as having been posted. But I noticed Jardinera reposted yours for you last time so something is screwy here.

I've discovered the problem although I don't know how to fix it. I can post on Mozilla Firefox but not on the internet connection. So Firefox has it posted, Internet does not. Sorry. That will also be a problem on my Tontas recaps.

JudyB: Thanks for going through all that. Maybe someone else will do it.

I really need some simple directions to follow so that I can do it myself. If anyone has any, please let me know. Emphasis is on simple. Thanks.

Pasofino...look now, it seems to be posted on internet explorer. I turned off the "protected mode", posted it, and then turned the protected mode back on.

Melinama should have sent you an invitation, which included the software and the delicious site. Usually, when you click on "tag" a box will come up and you have to sign in, typing "caray" and then again "caray" for the password.

I'm getting ahead of myself. First, you have to click on "permalink", then when you get the new page, click on delicious or tag. Once you've logged in, then you'll see your date and title and you start to type the name of the show and click that in.

Anon at 936, (and somebody help me here), there was a birth certificate in, I think, the little box that Lili was given by Soledad and the bc had the name Artermio Bravo (aka Cigar Man) on it but I for one don't know if he was the baby on the certificate or the Father of the baby on the bc. I think Franco has been told the name but, of course, doesn't know where Ciggie fits in.

It could also be that it was Ciggie's bc showing that he and Gonzo have the same Father and maybe the oldest Elizalde was supposed to get the fortune but Ciggie didn't because he's a bastard. Somebody kept the bc hidden and. ...well, you other guys are better at the sleuthing. Of course, we've kinda been down this road.

I can't wait to see cap of Friday, tv was on but background conversation in my house made impossible to comprehend.

Khalilah

Khalilah - I don't think Artemio is motivated by money.

If he was, he would have wanted Barbara to transfer the $160 Million (or however much it was) to an account that he controlled, in some way, shape, or form - ie a straw company or something like that.

If he is motivated by money, he is going to be peeved when he finds out that Barbara Greco ie Sanchez has $160 Million in a Caymens account, or whatever it is, and she disappears out of sight.

Also, if he was motivated by money, he wouldn't be so interested in destroying the value of PowerMilk - he could just have Barbara kill everybody off to where she is left with the company as final heir - then they sell the company. Which would be a motivation not to have a grandchild - as Babs, as final heir would have to share with a grandbaby - or become a baby killer, too!!

Silverfox

Of course Steve brought the baseball bat from home. Everybody in the United States carries a baseball bat and/or piece of apple pie at all times, in case there's an emergency.

Alright. I'm completely flummoxed. When I have my internet protected mode "off", it shows I've posted your recap, Pasofino. But with protected mode "on", it doesn't show. It does show it posted on Firefox. If you want Jardinera to check and see if it shows or if she needs to repost, that's fine. Guess I'm just not meant to do this.

JudyB: I can see it now, and it is posted. thank you very much.

Julie: I was thinking the same thing when Steve appeared with the baseball bat. He must have left the apple pie in the kitchen.

Thanks, Khalila, about the bc. Did la viuda Palafox take it when she took the box? I don't remember that scene well.

Mrs. Palafox took the birth certificate, yes.

I assume that it is Art Bravo's certificate, and not a certificate naming him as the father, because no one ever talks about any of the other names on it. Usually when you talk about a birth certificate, it's in reference to the person who was born.

Actually, it's a little weird that no one has mentioned the names of the parents on the birth certificate. Even if they were unfamiliar names, you'd think they'd wonder who those people were too. Maybe the woman didn't identify herself, and died during childbirth??

What's also weird is that neither Mrs. P, nor her dopey son, nor Eduardo has thought to Google "Artemio Bravo." (Or look him up in the phone book!) It takes two seconds. Google tells me that Artemio Bravo is "the evil mastermind behind the destruction of the Elizalde family." Don't you think that would be a handy thing for Eduardo and his team to know?

Wait, that was a dumb idea. (The one I had about the birth certificate and the woman not identifying herself.) Of course they must have known something about her if the boy had a name... unless that was the name the hospital or orphanage gave him.
