Por ella soy Eva #94 11/29/12: Living in a Powder Keg and Giving Off Sparks.
Labels: por-ella
Eugenia is really getting some starch in her spine (as my grandma used to say.) Modesto so doesn't like confrontation and if Eugenia continues to take charge of her ow life she'll have him right where she needs him. He'll back down because straight talk is not his way -- he's into manipulation.
The secret phone calls were interesting. I liked how JC begged Helena not to turn him in -- just as she was about to but he did it in a way that Helena never suspected Eva. As for the second phone call how could Helena stand up to hism when he sang to her like that?
So the audit has turned up Rebecca's shenanigans? I wonder whose head(s) will roll.
Thanks again for starting my day off with a total eclipse of sadness, Ithabill.
Güera
Eva is my favorite character. She is so over the top and the laughing with the hand in front of her mouth is very funny. Loved what she did to the guy that whistled at her and that taxi driver did look scared.
If it is Rebe that engineered this new fraud, it must be really easy to "cook the books" so to speak at G.I. You would think that Adri would have something in place after the "supposed" fraud of JC. Some type of oversight.
Poor Santi. His parents are way snobby. Angie was too funny sticking her finger in the caviar, lol. And that dress she was wearing wasn't her normal attire. She looked positively frumpy, lol. Now what will Santi do to get out of all that debt? I wonder if Santi's parents know the debt Paty Bebe put him in? They probably think it is all Angie's fault. And they did bring up if Angie and Santi's marriage was legal, seeing they got married in Las Vegas.
I really liked your reference to Total Eclipse of the Heart, I haven't heard that song in a long time :)
Lots of funny bits and sad bits last night. I loved the part where Adri asked for a whiskey and had to settle for a tamarindo (the way he said it was priceless). And it was very sad watching Helena's face as she lied to her mother about the phone call. And poor clueless Santi.
From the breakfast scene where Marcela praises Fern as an example to their kids (ick), I'm guessing Fern is about to take a fall. I want to see him anvil-ed but maybe not with such a big anvil.

Adriano gazes at Eva with such adoration. I hope he never ever finds out Eva's a man.
So glad Helena is in "the game" using her brain again.
What do we think will happen with Angie? Obviously Santi doesn't belong with her. But she's not evil like Rebecca, so by TN justice she won't be kicked to the curb. Will she turn to the dark side and then encounter an anvil with her name on it? Or will she see the light and die a heroic death, freeing Santi to find a good woman? Or none of the above?
La Paloma
Why was Adri so interested in Helena's stay at the beach? Was that his excuse to get close to Eva as soon as he found out that Eva was at Helena's apt. Or is he genuinely interested in Helena's well being because of her value to the Playa M. Project? Although Adri is becoming a better man by the good influence of Eva, I still believe that Adri is far more comfortable being lied to by a man than being told the truth by a woman!
Nice use of song lyrics. I nearly wore a hole through that record, back in the day.
Paula - I've been wondering about Angie, too. She's petty, ignorant, immature and selfish, but she lacks the ambition for real evil. Furthermore, she doesn't need to die to free up Santi for a proper church marriage, because as far as I know, the Catholic church couldn't care less if he gets a divorce just so long as his previous wedding was only a civil one and not a church wedding. So they can split up, he can marry Lucia, and Lucia can find someone who finds her less embarrassing. (Maybe Onesimo would like her.)
Anon 5:29, I am beyond ready to see Lucero play a Bad Girl again. She's very good as a nice girl, but she is so much more fun when she's evil.
So... there's a Big Meeting tonight. I love Big Meeting episodes!
I could be mistaken; I'm willing to be convinced.
Hmm. Another thought. Santi is broke and DEEPLY in debt, and his parents have disinherited him. Angie is awfully shallow. If they get evicted and have to move into a shack, and it finally gets into her bubble-brain that her sugardaddy is sugar-free, might she divorce him as soon as a better offer comes along? I'd like to think that she has more affection for him than that.
Actually, I think the scenario you describe (Angie divorcing when the magic plastic card stops working at the cash register) is quite realistic. I don't know if that qualifies as "evil," but it would be honest and it would let Santi off the hook without him having to act like a louse.
I wonder if we've seen the last of Paty. I don't expect her to end up with Santi, but I still feel like she's a loose end. Even if she doesn't get a proper coda, perhaps she'll get a punchline (like riding off into the sunset with Renato, or something crazy like that).
"...Lucia can find someone who finds her less embarrassing."
What I meant was "ANGELICA can find someone who finds her less embarrassing." (And I still think that guy could be Onesimo. If she does leave Santi, then she deserves Onesimo.)
